Ironically, there needs to be more actually blind Stan Blind Faith content. For some reason it’s so hard to find a single fic of Stan actually just. Not seeing anything. Having to learn to navigate his surroundings with one of the most important organs rendered useless. It would be such a great character arc, for him to start out hating the development, thinking his life is ruined forever, but then as time passes realize that with all his struggle some advantages came as well. He can hear better, he can feel better, the world around him is different now. And as much as he wishes to see it again, he learns to adapt. To live and to thrive and to enjoy life in his own way. I just feel like it’s such a powerful story to tell instead of bringing him back to zero with a prosthetic or, even worse, having his sight just magically come back

"Bullying into submission" is unfortunately an excellent way to put it 😔 People really need to learn that while feeling the need to vent is more than okay (just look at how much I've complained so far lol), making posts / snide comments with the sole aim of creating Drama or Discourse or straight up jumping into someone's space to berate them for quietly enjoying themselves in a way you don't approve of is truly the best recipe if your goal in life is to be miserable 24/7, on top of being a huge dick move.

I was also thinking about what other anons have brought up (how they feel straight up alienated by popular hcs always being one 'extreme' or another with no in-between) and I feel like these discussions (including the ones on social constructs, loved your input about that btw) are all linked by a common factor: some people try to draw hard lines in the sand in order to neatly categorize stuff in easily identifiable boxes or tropes. Sometimes what we could call "the norm" seems so ingrained in people's minds that it does not even occur to them to try and question this status quo, and so a lot of nuance is either lost or not even explored to begin with. At least that's how I see it, I still need to think about this some more.

I'd say that these "hard lines" aren't only drawn between all we've mentioned, but between communities too. I'm going to say this kinda clumsily but like, why are we treating anyone who isn't "just gay / lesbian / straight" as if they were an enemy and/or a threat? Is it some kind of insecurity that can only be soothed by constant validation? Why is it that when someone dares to make something slightly different, we're bringing out the pitchforks?

This hostility (and just the fact that these discussions / this Discourse seems very cyclical) kind of reminds of a tweet I saw a while ago. I unearthed it for the occasion lol:

The original post was about slandering works as a whole, but I think it can also apply to more specific aspects, like enjoying something in particular in a given work. Why are we pretending it's weird that people get upset when you keep telling them (explicitly or implicitly) that their fun is lame at best? I know people love to say "that's just how the internet is, Get Used To It" but honestly? It's such an empty excuse and it makes me want to bang my head on a wall, because why couldn't we just all keep our manners to begin with??

I feel like I'm answering everything in a weird order lol but about Welt, that's pretty much what I had heard about him! I've been thinking that I should at least look into Hi3 a bit, just to see the links between the games and Mihoyo's overall evolution 🤔 And I didn't know about that lore book! I don't even know if I'm surprised about this reaction but I do know that fandoms sometimes confuse the hell out of me because I've seen just as much Guizhong enjoyers as I've seen people shipping Zhongli with Childe??

I'm just going to say it bluntly: people should REALLY pick a struggle and/or another hill to die on, because having a meltdown for something like that is just embarrassing. It does prove your point about the shipping lenses tho, because I can't think about another reason why a LORE BOOK would have made them feel so threatened 💀 I had seen the tantrums about Dottore (apparently he's too evil??) and Raiden (she's not evil enough??) but this?? Kind of makes me think that people are lowkey hypocritical with their need to have canon confirmations, because they love to brag about THEIR pairings but as soon as the possibility appears that the devs MIGHT offer some kind of confirmation on one they don't like, even if it's one as 'marginal', for lack of a better word, as this one, they break out in hives. And the Thoma and Ayaka situation is just another proof that 1) YOU SHOULD NEVER FULLY TRUST LEAKS and 2) the bar we talked about keeps getting lower in hell.

And YES! I also felt like there were a lot of things about Alhaitham that were there to tell the players that while it's true he comes off as odd, eccentric, blunt, etc., he's rather kind all things considered! He's letting Kaveh stay in his house even if they don't particularly get along, he sticks to his moral code, he recognized Dehya's capabilities, he helps Tighnari with Collei's education, and so on. He seems to be the type of person that won't go out of their way to be palatable to others, but he also never goes out of his way to hurt anyone? And what's more, if you're willing to hear him out and truly pay attention to what he says, you'll realize that he's actually quite helpful? In a way that he's giving advice and letting people come to their own conclusions? At least that's what I can think about off the top of my head, so it's kind of hysterical to me that he gets reduced to "That Asshole Feeble Scholar".

This ask is getting long again (and messy) but I still want to add that I've seen your discussions about Nilou, Candace and Kokomi with Kaveh and it might be biased and/or controversial of me to say this but honestly? I think people, no matter their identities, just don't like women / don't even acknowledge how much they dislike women. As you said, same-sex pairings (and i'd say BL pairings in particular) are that much more popular and I'm getting pretty sure that it's in part due to the fact people don't pay attention to the female characters because they might be assuming they'll be boring. I've seen so many people bashing Kokomi, especially her story quest, yet they praise characters like Itto to high heavens? I know that it's 'to each their own' but sometimes I do feel like people don't give some (female) characters much of a chance to begin with.

At least to me it's pretty funny to see the difference between how you and the others have talked about your ideas for ships, and how the fandom talk about haikaveh lmao.

There is a lot to unpack here, but I will try my best to respond to everything. I'm sorry in advance if I don't touch on every point.

Regarding your "hard lines" comments. It's true that people draw boundaries between what they find acceptable and not, and while this would ordinarily be a good thing, here it's more to do with controversial topics like race, sexuality, gender, etc... and I can't help but wonder if the reason for such behavior is due to politics.

Most of this behavior is present in the western and english-speaking parts of the internet where American politics reign supreme. From what I have heard and seen, the progressive side deems everything that is considered the majority (heterosexuality, white skin, male gender, etc) as the opposite of what they stand for, therefore it must be conservative, which is bad. There's a lot more at play here than just progressive vs conservative, but I am not well-versed in politics, so I won't speak on it too much. Plus, this is all just a theory. But as I've said before, the West loves to drag politics into every aspect of their lives, fandoms included.

The quote you found is actually spot-on. Acting surprised when you insult something people enjoy or relate to is surprised pikachu behavior. Though I suspect these people aren't actually surprised, but are just trolling the people they offended, and are gleeful they managed to get under the skin of those whose views they dislike.

I think the lore book tantrum is another example of people wanting their characters to be "shiny toys", as you put it. Having an indication for a NL relationship between playable characters is a no-no for gacha games. It offends a lot of groups of people. For example, those that want to pair Zhongli with Childe, or self-ship with him, and the same applies for the Guizhong side (even though we had no idea what she looked like at the time). For some reason, there's not as much negative reaction if the ship being teased is same-sex though. Might be because it offends less groups, but it's still a baffling phenomenon for me.

Which brings me to the point about female characters.

I agree with you that female characters get hated on. In the anime and manga spheres, have seen a lot of comments about female characters from various fandoms, and the main complain with them was that they are not as fleshed out as their male counterparts. Female characters lack complex writing and character development, and get reduced to plot devices or love interests for the MC. Even in media made by women for women featuring female protagonists, some of these protagonists are pushovers that rely on male characters to save them. There is a desire for women to be equal to men in media, but it's not common to see.

It doesn't help that in Genshin, the first three chapters had bad writing, especially for female characters. Though not all, majority were were one-note characters with not much complexity or plot behind their actions, unlike male characters. This has improved significantly since Sumeru's debut, but I doubt it's enough to change the minds of some people.

So to make my point; female characters get hate for being boring. I also feel like women are the ones who hate on female characters the most? I have seen both fujoshi and yumejoshi communities hate on female characters for being the love interest of their favorite male character and getting in the way of their ships.

I am hesitant to delve into the topic of why some fujoshi hate female characters since it's not something I completely understand. I did a bit of research into why they prefer BL over NL, and while the gripe about female characters being boring was a main factor, there was also a lot of misogyny. I'm sure there are some other reasons aside from these as to why women hate female characters, but this topic is too complex for me to navigate just yet.

I will defend Kokomi with my life 😤 She got a lot of hate even back in her beta, and her story quest came under fire, as well. I thought her story quest was decent, though maybe my judgement is clouded because I love her so much. Regardless, her character is awesome and I relate to her a lot, so Kokomi slander will not be tolerated 😤

Regarding the difference between haikaveh and other Kaveh ships, I can only think that one is a fetishization of a gay relationships, while the other is a genuine appreciation for the dynamic between characters.

I actually saw only positive comments under the Acheron and Black Swan dance video. Yeah, there were jokes it was toxic, but I didn't see anyone complain about it, though I believe you when you say some people found it problematic. BL gets a lot of special treatment, I would say. Everything that's deemed bad/boring in GL and NL pairings is often painted as being better/good if it's BL. I've only seen a couple of "omg toxic yaoi ❤️" posts, and while those were jokes, it's shocking how much people love to pair enemies together. I see a lot of depictions of abuse in BL, and the shippers love it, so I suppose it's not that surprising? I find it concerning, though.

Today, I caused chaos on Twitter and Mobox and friends didn't like it lol Part 3

I went all out with my new account.

This is where the "chaos" began. I went all out. I didn't think or care on wtf I was saying or did (as you can see in some of the tweets, there's a lot of misspellings because I was just speed running them). It was just slander. Some of the things I said were very ridiculous, most were just saying shit to mobox instead of Nikolai, and only like 2 or 3 tweets were logical and not just ridiculous shit. I was making fucking so much slander that it felt I was running through a field of flowers lol. Of course I'm joking around about that but god damn it, it felt so just entertaining to just constantly tweeting non stop. It was so ridiculous. First Nikolai blocked me instantly and later mobox followed. I have done it. I got what I wanted once again. I was so over joy and also just shocked to see a huge amount of tweets I have made. Seeing them be the first thing you see when you search up "mobox87" on Twitter is so funny to me. Also it's another common L on mobox because thanks to her new attention to me, she is making herself look more bad on Twitter than she already is. Like my tweets has never gotten into huge numbers of views before this happened. The only reason why I made that gimmick account is to fool and get more stupid people into not liking mobox87. I mean it's mobox's fault for me to get a chance at spreading pretty ridiculous misinformation about her to a somewhat shit ton of people to witness it. Remember I didn't got some much attention and attraction from people before this happened and so mobox was just helping me out with this goal in mind. I mean hundreds of people viewing my tweets doesn't seem like a lot but to me it's a big deal for me since I only get like 7 or 10 views out of my tweets so yeah, thanks mobox. I truly think people would believe the shit from my mobox gimmick because nowadays people are fucking stupid. Ok first of all, sharing opinions on the UK politics - something that he's not personally involved in - is completely different from badmouthing the makers of the show that gave you your second most major role in a decade. You don't bite the hand that feeds you. Consider the fact that neither David Jenkins nor any of the cast publicly slandered Max, even though they were clearly gutted about their decision to cancel the show. Sure, if you're big enough in the industry, after enough time has passed, you could afford to come out and air some dirty laundry, but for all his skill and talent and an impressive filmography Con is still not nearly famous enough to get away with rocking the boat like that. Izzy was clearly a flagship role for him and nobody could blame him for not wanting to poison that experience. Not least because it wouldn't reflect badly only on him but tarnish everyone involved, and regardless of how he personally feels about Izzy's arc, he still loves the show and would never do this to the people who made it.

Secondly... It's complicated. "The Canyon" isn't a monolith. At this point there's probably nothing more left to say on why a lot of us believe killing Izzy was a poor writing decision on multiple levels, so I won't go on about that, all I'll say is, a lot of us if not most of us have made our peace with it by now, one way or another, and we still appreciate Izzy's arc and are grateful for what we had. Con's comments on Izzy's death isn't news, pretty sure every Izzy fan has seen them, and I haven't seen anyone who holds it against him.

I'm not saying he was lying. I'm saying it's possible to have conflicting emotions and reconcile them. If I was in Con's place I would have said the same thing. I would have focused on what I loved about his arc and the ending (the final speech was very emotional, at least, and I'm glad Izzy apologised and got that weight off his chest before he died, and that Ed and the crew grieved for him). It was... one (1) of the potential ways his story could have ended. You could even say it was "the only way" - only if you were operating under the framework of very conventional and tired tropes which OFMD typically rises above, but still. It's fair to say it wasn't illogical per se. Con didn't say anything wrong. The way he sees it is valid. But so are the fans' opinions. If you really thought that throwing "oh btw Con was 100% behind killing Izzy off" (which isn't what he said anyway) was some sort of "gotcha" that was going to make "The Canyon" either turn on Con or implode in on itself, you got it wrong.

Once again Con O'Neil went on a stage and said how much he loves the writers and director of OFMD, how much he loves filming his death scene and how he understood that Izzy needed to die and once again the Canyon are tying themselves up in knots about it and completely disregarding his words. It's me, Emiath here with the idea I told you to prepare for earlier, so brace yourself because this WILL be long!

Anyways, here it is!

Fixed Ramshackle dorm turns into Yuu later on becoming a teacher/Crowley's assistant/proffesianal beast tamer Yuu (Yuu is also tall in this one, however you can change the height if you wish to!)

Ok, so! In this idea, the Ramshackle dorm is fully fixed, and so is the rest of the grounds of the Ramshackle dorm. The dorm actually has a cottagecore vibe to it, until Yuu plants a bunch of trees from their world on the grounds of the Ramshackle dorm (when all the trees are planted then the vibes change into a ✨mansion in the forest ✨ vibes).

Now, as I mentioned before, Yuu grows various kinds of plants back from their world, except imagine that many of these plants and trees aren't even known in TWST (Idk which wouldn't actually exist in twst but whatever, it's just for this ask anyways). They also have a small area at the grounds of the dorm where they grow various fruits and vegetables alongside apple tree's, cherry blossom's and other stuff.

Now, with the love and care that Yuu puts into taking care of the Ramshackle dorm and it's grounds, the Ramshackle becomes one of he most beautiful area's of NRC, it's even more beautiful than all the other dorms.

This results in some students visiting the Ramshackle dorm grounds/garden to either go there because it's quiet, because of the beautiful scenery or it's just a nice place to study at. The students also help out Yuu whenever they're taking care of the garden or the crops (the students are curious about the lovely plants so they listen to Yuu explain everything about the plants and how to take care of them).

Yuu also lets the students hangout with them at the lounge of the dorm whenever the weather gets bad outside, so the students have tea with Yuu and chat about many things.

Also, you know how the other housewardens have these thrones in their dorms where they sit (at least I think they do-)? Well, Yuu doesn't have a throne , instead they have a rocking chair in the lounge area and nobody else sits on it, because that's Yuu's place, it's their throne.

Whenever people from outside of NRC visit the school they are always breath taken by the beautiful sight of the dorm.

Now imagine this, there's some event with RSA and some students are walking around the grounds of NRC and then come amongst the Ramshackle dorm and are just like "wow".

RSA student: this place is so beautiful! *Casually continues to admire the dorm*

NRC student: *suddenly turns really smug* well of course it is! It's the work of the Ramshackle Prefect after all! *Proceeds to explain Yuu's hard work and how they fixed the dorm and grew all the plants and proceeds to compliment the prefect while the RSA student listens in amazement*

Oh yea! Yuu is adored and respected at NRC, mainly due to... A certain accident that happened in the past, which may or may not have made all of the main cast and staff have a change of heart (Crowley included btw, he's slander proof in this idea, sorry :) ). (Yuu is also very loved by everyone, but it's not really in a romantic way, but an older brother/parental figure way).

The Ramshackle grounds are also a neutral, magic-free and violence free zone, or in another words, violence and magic is banned on the grounds of the dorm due to various reasons (and everyone respects that, especially since they don't want to have that one of those cursed bracelets put on them by the prefect-).

Oh yea, I mentioned something about bracelets, didn't I? Well! Yuu has these special bracelets that cancel magic completely and are impossible to be taken off by anyone other than Yuu or the Ramshackle residents (except for Grimm, the little monster isn't able to take the bracelets off due to various reasons). Yuu puts these bracelets on people who break the rules of the Ramshackle grounds. These bracelets actually allow the students when it's needed for certain classes but then when it isn't needed, it will seal off the magic fully. (So it's basically something like Riddle's UM) (also, Yuu has definitely put these bracelets on all the people who have went through OB (it happened once they were snapped out of it))

Cater and Vil have definitely took photos of the Ramshackle dorm and (with Yuu's permission) they posted it on their Magicam accounts.

Actually, there's also an area on the grounds of the dorm where there's a few swings and also these ball shaped seats that usually hang from the ceiling and all these other swinging seats (I forgot what they're called, apologies-). There's also another very beautiful area where it's perfect for picnics and tea parties, and in Cater's words, ✨✨it's very magicgrammable✨✨.

The next year, Yuu gets some new residents for their dorm => the prefect is happy. Some of the first years are from TWST (the first years are from all different races, so mermen, fae, bbeastmen and other races, except they all are either magicless or their magic is extremely weak) while others are from the world where Yuu is from. Yuu takes very good care of all of their new students.

Yuu finds a way to get back to their world and they go to the parents of the students to let them know that their children are in safe hands, the parents don't believe them at first so Yuu let's them visit. After a while, the students are fully able to go back and forth between the two worlds now, they all also go home for holidays (and some even invite Yuu over as well, which Yuu politely declines).

Yuu chooses one of the first years of the RMSL (Ramshackle) dorm to be the next housewarden once they graduate and so they teach them everything they know, they also choose a vice-housewarden to be alongside the soon to be housewarden.

Once Yuu graduates, they alongside Grimm travel around TWST wonderland alongside their friends, they travel around for two years (they also somehow managed to ease the rivalry between RSA and NRC, although the two schools still do get very competitive).

After the two years at the entrance ceremony, there's a really... Strange coffin. It looks quite different from the rest, and it's bigger than the rest as well. It's black, however it has silver details on it, it even had silver little cobwebs on it alongside a few silver spiders and ghosts (with a little mickey hidden somewhere). Once it's opened, a now big Grimm (he's bigger than a horse, so basically really big) steps out and looks around. Some students panic (except for the RMSL housewarden, since they realized who it was (Yuu is a VERY talked about person on the Ramshackle dorm grounds and everyone adores them, they're also known for being a beast tamer and someone who defeated many OB's). After a bit, Yuu finally steps out, their robes look different from the rest as well (black with all the gold details being silver) as the fact that they're now even taller than before.

The staff is happy to see them again and Crowley even gets them to stand in front of the mirror for the funsies. Yuu and the mirror chat for a bit, the mirror glad to see them again as well. Soon, the mirror announces Yuu as a new teacher but also a guardian and a beast tamer. The students are a bit confused as Yuu goes with the Ramshackle housewarden and Grimm as they get all the RMSL students to the dorm, Yuu then goes back to hangout with the staff as they proceed to tell them everything that happened on their travels.

Many students love the new teacher/assistant (Crowley's assistant) (/p), mainly because they're really funny and easy to talk to, while being very kind, caring and also helpful. Many students also see them as a parental/older sibling figure, so yea-

Whenever there is an errand that needs to be done at RSA, it's usually handled by Yuu, since the RSA staff memebrs also have taken a liking to Yuu, since they're really interesting and someone who you would never even expect to be apart of NRC.

Yuu has a club about mental health where students come to hangout and rest whenever they need, they also talk about health and many other things.

Yuu also is somewhat apart of the dance club as they teach students a bunch of dances.

Yuu also restores the Light Music Club.

Yuu teaches Music (everyone has this lesson), and then also teaches how to be a beast tamer (exclusive to RMSL students only).

You know how there's the times where there are other teachers going to the class as well to see how the teacher teaches but also to observe the students? Yeah, that's what Yuu sometimes does, like they help struggling students and volunteer to help the teachers.

They also sometimes drop by the other classes to hand over some papers when Crowley asks them to (he only does this when Yuu's not busy, otherwise he does it after school (Crowley also had a very big character development because I said so)).

Now, this is all for this little au (for now) as I have no more ideas. Yuu is basically very loved by the students and many of them look up to Yuu.

About the article: God forbid anyone loves or relates to a flawed character 🙄. From here on now, we can only worship Mary Sues that can do no wrong ever!

Characters having flaws (be it intentional by the author or not) isn't a bad thing! Characters doing morally grey actions to drive their own motivation forwards isn't a bad thing! And liking characters despite their flaws is *not* a bad thing!!

You should trust readers to have the ability to distinguish right from wrong. The author of this article seemed to be appalled that people relate Hermione as the lonely bookworm and then acts as if those fans are just ""f*cked up""" as the character they like. What???

And then, when she goes on to tell how terrible Hermione is, it just feels like a teenager trying to talk sh*t about a girl she doesn't like.

"Hermione Emotionally Abuses Ron in Prisoner of Azkaban!!" She's a girl trying to defend her pet. It's problematic to have emotions, apparently.

"Hermione Locks Journalist Rita Skeeter in a Jar, in Solitary Confinement, For a Week!" Rita, an adult woman btw, tried to slander the name of a minor and did a series of crimes. And then said minor then decided to retaliate the best way she could. Was it morally wrong! YES!! It was vindictive and cruel, even! And guess what? This adds depth to the character! Morally grey characters are interesting to read about!!

"SPEW and the Case of Hermione Granger Thinking She Knows Best!" SHE'S A CHILD. Children think they know better all the time! And there's room for growth there! She can learn! And why the hell is the author so pressed in calling her the "Brightest Witch of her Age" as if it was an official title for her? It was an off comment made by a professor!

Anyway, I could keep on talking about other ridiculous points of this article, but it'd be a waste of time. Throughout the whole essay, it's clear that the author is a Ron stan, and with the amount of unnecessary vitriol and twitter-like prose, I imagine that nothing could possibly change her mind.

I do want to finish off by saying that fanfiction is huge. And the dramione fandom is very large as well - there are thousands of works in here. In some of them, Hermione's actions are glossed over and made fun of. In others, there's a more in-depth analysis of her flaws. Some works make her darker than in canon material and other works erase all her flaws and put her on a pedestal.

Just like dramione fans do their best to take Draco's character and make it our own, we do the same with Hermione's. They can justify her actions in the books or they can condemn it just as well. Not everyone is 'joking' about Marietta’s scars, you know?

So, once again, it is NOT wrong to like a FICTIONAL character that has done FICTIONAL bad things.

This! I agree with everything you’ve written. There’s nothing wrong with people loving a morally grey character. Hermione’s occasional ruthlessness is, in fact, one of the main reasons she’s become one of my favourite heroines. So it’s not like I don’t see her flaws and think she can do wrong.

The only thing about Hermione’s portrayal that I truly can’t get over is the “not like other girls” vibe she gives off and her disdain for interests usually perceived as feminine. In general, I find the Harry Potter books lacking in female friendship and abundant in women treating each other badly. But I think it says much more about JKR than Hermione, who’s supposedly JKR’s self-insert. I try to block this part of the series out just as much as I try to block Hermione’s relationship with her parents out and don’t read too much into her barely spending time with them. I guess it was just convenient for JKR to have Hermione around Harry most of the time. What JKR didn’t expect was that it would look as if Hermione wasn’t particularly loved by her parents. And this is why I love fanfiction: it can address and sometimes fix the instances of an author’s mistakes, negligence, and personal views peeking out.

Lily just went into some long rant about her “abusive” ex(who was so abusive Lily is STILL using her last name, how odd) that segued into some bizarre attempt at “I am so sad and depressed, please pity me”. Just an FYI.

Oh boy... there is a LOT to unpack here... So let's unpack it.

So we immediately start with a lie, right off the bat. Why do I say this? Because the last, most notable time Lily has talked about her ex on her tumblr, involved a lot of this:

Btw, during this whole thing, her ex's real name was used, multiple times, so her saying she doesn't use her ex's name a lot is false, all on it's own.

Now, this could be put in the actions category, but Lily is basically just calling Lizzy a rich girl (something she's done a lot), even though parents paying for their kids to go to university is pretty common.

But the thing is, the group of stalkers that Lily is claiming Lizzy is hanging out with, is Trans Girl Therapists discord server, and they don't even talk about Lily in there. They care about mental health, and current day topics. That's it. Lily's name is almost never mentioned.

After talking about Lizzy, she immediately throws this in:

This is very a very upsetting sentiment, that she thinks people would celebrate her getting cancer. But... it's also sandwiched between her talking about her ex, and this following segment:

First, she acknowledges that talking about it sends people over to her ex's page. She conveniently leaves out how triumphant her posts where upon finding that Lizzy finally responded:

Funny thing is, this was after she made like, over ten posts slandering her ex. But the MINUTE, Lizzy responded, she pounced on it and was almost doing a victory lap. All anyone needs to do is look at Lizzy's page and realize that Lily barely factors in there, while Lizzy still plays a big role on Lily's blog. (And lets not forget this all happened the day after she got married to her WIFE.)

She even admits that she fuels this very toxic cycle, because she finds there is something of value in it. She then goes on to talk about the good that her talking about her ex brought up, and how it helped people. (If that's her experience, that's her experience. Though I have a few people who are disputing that claim, that I will get to later today.)

But then she states that she does complain about the amount of people sharing their trauma in her inbox, how she does enrich peoples lives and that she wishes she could do that without become a room for a free therapy session.

I'm just going to through this out here, but if Lily doesn't want people to share their trauma with her, she might need to rethink talking about her ex online. She is opening the door for people to share their experiences, if that invite is hurting her mental health, then maybe she isn't actually benefiting from this.

Now, let's loop back around to this quote:

This quote has nothing to do with ether of those sections. The first half is her talking about her ex, the second part is a follow up to why she still talks about her ex. So why is it there?

Well, from a writing stand point, it serves a few purposes:

One, it primes the audience to feel sad for her. The first and second part aren't really all that melancholic, and feel more bitter then anything. But having a line about how you believe people would be happy you got cancer? Instant raising of sympathy.

Two, it's to tie into the later part of this giant speech, when she goes into her "stalkers" a bit more. This is there to inform you in advance where this is going, even if you aren't aware of it.

Three, It's high enough that it's the fourth paragraph in this, so before anyone can continue reading, you get hit with that sentiment, meaning you associate it with her ex and the people she supposedly hang out with. It primes you to not only dislike the ex, but the stalkers.

Fourth, I mean, I may be giving this line too much weight. It's possible that she just shoved it in there because she does actually feel that way. And that's... concerning.

The last part I will cover is this:

But the truth is Lily... Your ex does live rent free in your head. Again, she wasn't the one making posts after getting married about you. You got excited when she acknowledged you. I don't think it's as worthless a critic as you think it is.

I deleted last night's personal post, but I have had time to think and I'm ready to talk about it, again. If anyone has experience with narcissists, please chime in, because I'm convinced my brother legitimately has NPD.

These are the signs:

Centers himself at the expense of others.

No empathy. None. Like, my Dad sobbed "He wants me dead" and "*brother's name* hates me" and he doesn't care and is unmoved. Even walking around happily like he got what he wanted. Mind you, my dad JUST got out of the hospital on Christmas Eve and has pneumonia. (He said "If he dies, it won't be my fault. Dad made poor food choices his entire life." ... Pneumonia isn't caused by fatness, my Dad isn't fat, and my brother is a former fat kid, so it's sick that he'd even say something so callous.)

Plays the victim even while actively causing harm, and frames himself as righteous for the pain he is inflicting.

Uses eternal victimhood to get what he wants from my mother, who desperately loves him and would do anything for him, then flips on the entire family when he doesn't get his way (Dad asked him to return their second car back in October.)

Silent treatment for months so he can make someone confront him and then proudly announce that he is doing it because he's "setting a boundary" against the family, even though he lives in my parents' house. (Took this so far that my dad was in the hospital and he would go sit in the hospital room with my dad when no one else was there and purposefully not speak to him for hours. My dad was cognitive and able to speak the whole time, and me and my other siblings would go and keep him company. He stole time we could have had just to show my dad that he still wouldn't talk to him. Like an asshole.)

Accusing people of being abusive and irrational for having emotional responses to his mistreatment of them.

Accusing our oldest brother of being abusive for begging him to speak to him on Christmas day. (Our oldest brother has 2 kids who are teen and young adult, he's never even spanked them, doesn't really yell at them, nothing. They're both well adjusted, and his son, who is a few years younger than me, has a salaried job at a mortgage company and he's only 23.)

Very all or nothing. Very "you're either good or a monster". He pretends not to remember heartfelt conversations my Dad, my Mom and I have had with him. Only pretended our second oldest brother was good because he was trying to be on his side (he doesn't live in the same state and barely has contact with narc brother, so hasn't experienced any of this.) Refuses to see my Dad as good, because he's framed Dad as the monster, and me and my Mom are now bad because we don't hate my Dad with him.

Frames himself as more enlightened than everyone else and refuses to take responsibility for the pain he causes, or even care about us.

Embellishes how awful we have always treated him and even slanders us to his friends (which I've always suspected... and didn't have proof of until he started telling me that I treated him poorly, when I've spent most of my life desperately trying to make him happy, all while feeling his disdain towards me.) Also uses this to make you feel like you have to do things for him because he's so traumatized and hurt. He's also gay (I'm bisexual, btw) and uses it as a weapon, which is so gross. My parents accepted him like 15 years ago. My siblings and I are Gen-X and Millennials, and so are already super pro-LGBTQ+. Even though my other siblings are heterosexual. Like, our second oldest brother makes pro-LGBTQ TikToks (as well as other social justice stuff.) Our oldest sister is the first person he came out to and has been in his corner from the beginning. But he still uses this as some kind of leverage "You guys never accepted me! I'm always treated differently!" ??? Literally no? And I've called him out before for treating me like a homophobe when I've been out since I was like 19, but he still uses that shit to manipulate sympathy. My parents LET HIS BOYFRIEND SPEND THE NIGHT. IN HIS ROOM. They wouldn't even let my straight siblings do that with their opposite sex partners, because they didn't want him to think they didn't approve of him having a boyfriend. But I digress.

I spent last night begging him to let me have a relationship with him, but afterwards, I realized that that's how manipulative, abusive boyfriends act. They want you to plead with them to love you. And I started to realize he was showing what seem like signs of narcissism.

Does ANYBODY have any advice, or has anyone experienced this? Most people talk about narcissistic parents or partners. But what about siblings? I don't want him around my parents. I don't want to speak with him ever again. He's still in their house, but swears he's leaving. I don't want to know someone who says "If he dies he dies" about my father, and who invents a false abuse story (he told us that my Dad would come home from work in a rage and beat everyone. Y'all. My Dad literally never did that. Never. And he NEVER hit my Mom. We had a relatively fun childhood. I don't know how to make it clear that this is made up so that he can play the victim. It's like he saw this in a movie or on TV and was like "yeah, my Dad did that." I'm almost sure he believes it, too.)

I also feel like he's trying to blame his lack of success on my parents. He tried to say all of my Dad's 5 kids are failures. It's literally not true. We're all doing pretty well, and even when we've struggled, we've been pretty resilient. Between us we have 3 BAs, 1 MFA, 1 JD, 1 cosmetology license. He's literally the only one that hasn't settled on a path or even completed undergrad (my oldest sister did cosmetology instead of college, but she also finished!!!)

I mean... is this narcissism? Is it just lashing out? Either way, I'm not going to talk to him again.

Endless list of AB things TSP transfered to KoA: the letters in s1; the breastfeeding; the outspoken outbursts; the "I must do degrading things to make Henry horny" well this last isn't from real Anne but from TOBG but whatever (ch.3's sex scene was so ridiculous BTW); I fear KoA will be seen reading Tyndale in next chapter, it's almost funny how Emma Frost insist Anne Boleyn is so overrated but she's taking things from Anne's story (even TOBG's fictional stuff) and inserting them in KOA's.

I think that’s what has made a lot of Anne Boleyn fans annoyed. This is suppose to be a feminist show where women stick up for each other against the patriarchy and build each other up and I will say that The Spanish Princess is the first in the trilogy to have women be friends with each other, but for how long, who knows.

That’s why it bugs people when the writer of the show talks so much about strong women and how they were judged and this show is supposed to shine a light on their achievements and how they fought to keep themselves above ground, but then will go on to call Anne Boleyn - a woman who has been slandered for the last 500 years and possibly the most hated of all Henry’s wives - overrated and have their cast also express this view (even if some of them were forced to - I’m looking at you Ruairi, don’t follow the pack) is sad and basically takes away from the message they are suppose to be broadcasting. Yes, Anne Boleyn is often more focused on than the other wives, but how’s it her fault that people find her interesting, the woman was beheaded and was the mother to Elizabeth I, of course people are going to talk about her.

It doesn’t bother me too much that they took some inspiration from TOBG because although PG isn’t involved in this show, TSP and TOBG are both written by her and since EF doesn’t seem to have any new ideas of her own, it makes sense she would use more books by PG, instead of her trying to take credit for things that The Tudors did first and yes I do think she watched that show and thought “I’ll do that, who will know?”

Yeah, her saying that Anne Boleyn is overrated and other things, I haven’t read news articles, but I think she goes into it more, is laughable because if she was as overrated as EF thinks that then why use her history to make Katherine’s more interesting and that’s not a slap at the real KoA, but the show version of her. There are many things they could have done to make her relationship with Henry interesting, like their role playing games, but even when they did do that, they resorted to making it creepy, instead of the playful nature it was in history. Also, that scene between Henry and Katherine in episode 3 was disturbing and the fact he had to resort to “I won’t be force” says a lot. I also thought it was interesting that he told her to turn around and pull her hair back so he could see her neck, again reminding us of Anne Boleyn.

I honestly think the EF is trying to turn Katherine into the harpy version of Anne Boleyn that people who dislike Anne like to portray her as and it’s just disrespectful to Katherine and to Anne. They might have Katherine reading Tyndale, since they have had Anne not know that Solomon was rich, although in show Anne’s defendence Solomon is more known for his wisdom, I think they should have used Midas as an example of a rich king.

Tl;dr: She took issue with people calling catradora a queer ship. Two reasons: She thinks it's lesbian erasure (ok...) but, more importantly for her, she feels that queer is a slur.

You can read my stance from the link above, so I won't reiterate, but I'm going to address her accusation/implication that I used the d slur to address her, which I emphatically did NOT do.

She then made the argument that "dyke" (WHICH SHE TYPED OUT BTW) is arguably reclaimed also, yet people know not to universally use it.

My response is that this is a false equivalence since "dyke" isn't nearly reclaimed as "queer," which is completely mainstream and has been for LITERAL decades.

@zukoslesbian then took issue with me having the gall to type out the word "dyke" because I personally identify as queer and not specifically as a lesbian (fyi, this is a personal choice of mine because I don't think the specifics of my sexuality is anyone's fucking business).

I had already told her that I was a teacher who teaches LGBTQ history, which she scoffed at. 🙄 There are numerous LGBT/Queer Studies programs in academia, which seems to be a fact that she rails against. She doesn't accept reality? Not my problem and does nothing to change the fact that it IS reality.

In academic discussions, slurs are NOT censored, which I explained. She dismissed that completely and, consequently, is posting bogus shit about me.

The absolutely crazy thing is that this person is barely old enough to vote. She directly benefits from the literal blood, sweat, and tears of us older members of the LGBTQ community. Fuck outta here.

She has a long, almost incoherent, post about Balconygate™️ (even though I didn't think of that one!!). Most of it isn't worth repeating, but then I came to THIS part -

Setting aside the obvious wrong usage of "their" (should be "to prove THERE is a child") it really made me laugh that TS thought this question was a "good" one!

The PROBLEM with TS's question is that she just ASSUMES Ben's actions on the balcony somehow indicate HE is DESPERATE to PROVE something about being a father.

He isn't!

He's just a father trying to keep in contact with his family when work takes him away from them. Period!

There's nothing strange with him being out on a balcony (probably to get better reception for his mobile and to show his sons the seascape). He's got NOTHING to prove to ANYONE about being a father because HE IS A FATHER! If he wasn't famous (because that is why he does occasionally get caught by paps) and obsessed Haters didn't have a burr up their butts about his marriage and children(!!) no one would think twice of a Dad behaving like he did on a hotel balcony.

ONLY HATERS find what he did remotely "suspicious"! The rest of humanity will just go "Awww!" and go on with their lives.

Time to put childish things away

Unlocking her phone, she realizes her mistake immediately. The drama has found her, again. Her and drama have a love hate relationship. She knows there is no escaping the pull. She, hesitantly, clicks the notification. Praying it isn't so bad, she starts to read. Five words in, she realizes she has hit the mother load of all drama. A cornucopia of childish remarks and misspelled words.

"ur nothin. Ur shit. Ur fake as hell"

She can't help but finish. She has come too far to let this moment slip through her fingers. It only takes thirty seconds for her to have a slew of comebacks. A proverbial melting pot of slurs and insults. But, she can't bring herself to type them. Feeling proud of being able to hold back the pettiness, she simply types back,

"I will not engage in a battle of wits with you. Arguing online is like arguing with a three year old. I am not childish, as you've shown yourself to be. I do not wish to be viewed as such. Therefore, I will not act as such. But I will say this. I understand where you are coming from. I understand your situation. Please know that I do not wish to be involved in this, as I have no part in your dispute."

But this simple statement of kindness is not what the other wants to hear. The person is irate. At this point, she believes this person to be delusional. False accusations are slung around like paint.

Feeling like an idiot, she tries to explain her comment. Not just for the person berating her. She, also, wants to make it clear to anyone reading this conversation the intention behind her comment.

"I am saying that I UNDERSTAND your situation. I can relate. I know where you're coming from. But I do not wish to be called names, or talked about like a dog. That's all that I meant. I don't want to argue with you. And btw, I took up for you when your boyfriend complained about your behavior. I did it, even though I knew you never liked me. So, please. Leave me out of it."

It seemed as though this comment fueled the other person's delusion.

She couldn't resist the drama, no matter what she told herself. So, she couldn't bring herself to click that block button. Four more comments came. All variations of the previous comments. Finally having enough, after the boyfriend begged for a cessation of her abusive and slanderous comments, she snapped.

"LEAVE ME THE FUCK OUT OF THIS. I DID NOTHING TO YOU. WORRY ABOUT YOURSELF AND YOUR KID. QUIT BEING CHILDISH. YOURE GROWN, ACT IT. TAKE CARE OF YOUR BUSINESS LIKE A GROWN ASS WOMAN.
