(LAST UPDATED: 21/10/23)
So, this is an absolutely excellent and mostly correct post when it comes to buying systems from what are known as Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) or System Integrators (SIs). Some lesser known SIs that still do good work, though which will likely also be far more expensive, are Falcon Northwest and Puget Systems. For mini PCs (the kind that ms-demeanour up there mentioned mounting behind monitors), Minisforum has a broad and high quality portfolio, as do Beelink, ASRock, and Asus.
Some points I disagree with on this post: Ryzen 5 is perfectly fine for most people who aren't doing AI, ProViz, or CAD work (and if you don't know what those words mean then you probably don't need a Ryzen 7 or 9). As for generations, look for at least Ryzen 2000, ideally 3000 or above. For Intel generations, I would say to try to avoid anything older than 12th Gen, as that generation brought some absolutely massive performance and efficiency improvements, and was preceded by a good few dud gens. Also, 13th Gen and onwards i3s are shockingly powerful, and will do a good turn for a lot of use cases. FOR LAPTOPS ONLY 14th Gen releasing in December might potentially blow all the other advice here out of the water, so if you can afford to wait you probably should.
With all that said, what if none of the SIs have what you need? What if you wanna build your own system to save a buck? Here's some advice if you're in the "building my own PC for the first time" boat.
Part 1: What You Need
If you're building your own computer, it will have to be a desktop. Laptops are built to dance on a razor's edge of not fucking burning down sobbing (unless you're Apple in which case you slip on a banana peel, faceplant on the pavement, and then explode), and you cannot build your own from scratch for reasons which are beyond the scope of this post.
So, while building your own desktop, what exactly do you need?
Components:
Motherboard
Power Supply
CPU
RAM
Storage
Graphics Card
Case
Tools:
1x Phillips Head Screwdriver
A Dream
Part 2: What You Want
Before we start looking for parts, you need to first decide what exactly it is you'll be using the system for. If you're reading this post right now you're either one of my poor hapless mutuals that I just slammed this onto the dash of (I apologize but not sincerely), or you're not the most caught up to current Gen hardware. Assuming the latter case, I'm also going to assume you're not a homelabber or data scientist (but if you are and need help with speccing a workstation system reblog this and I will happily discuss those cases at length).
With that in mind, here's some advice for two fairly common use cases.
Use Case 1: New Reliable
So your parent/child/friend/elderly relative's old shitbox finally gave up the ghost, and now they need something to replace it. This advice is for systems that you want to build once, take apart never. You want this system to last with zero maintenance for the next five to ten years, at which point you will be upgrading it again anyway. This system is not going to be doing much gaming or heavy professional work, but as an Internet browsing machine with some occasional Minecraft and Fortnite this thing will be more than sufficient.
Motherboard: Get the cheapest one with okay reviews on PC Part Picker. ASRock is a safe bet, as is Asus and potentially MSI. Biostar tends to cheap out on quality, but the retail price generally reflects that, similar for Maxsun. Do not spend more than 100 dollars on the motherboard. You do not need anything more advanced than the bare minimum. For Intel systems, look for something with H610 or H610M in the name. For AMD Ryzen systems, look for something with A320 in the name.
Power Supply: NEVER EVER EVER CHEAP OUT ON THE FUCKING POWER SUPPLY, EVER. A bad power supply can kill the rest of your system when it goes. That said, there are still lots of options that are trash, while not being hazardous. Among these the champ is, of course, the Thermaltake Smart lineup of power supplies. They suck poopy ass, but they aren't going to burn your fucking house down or anything. If you've got the budget though, spring for something from EVGA, Silverstone, or Seasonic. For wattages, something 500-650W should be fine for a system like this, and still leaves room for a minor GPU installation down the line should one be desired (though nothing with a high power draw). The extra headroom also helps manage transient spikes in power draw, which are fairly commonplace on modern processors.
CPU: Get a Core i3-13100 or a Ryzen 3 3200G. I could give advice on how to shop for CPUs for a system like this, but I feel it's more helpful to just tell you the specific thing you're gonna want for this usecase, since this part of the product stack is generally pretty barren from both manufacturers.
RAM: Get a 2x8 gigabyte kit. Do not get two separate 8 gig sticks or one 16 gig one. Make sure you are getting the right *type* of memory (for the motherboards and CPUs described here, that is DDR4). Get the cheapest kit you can find. Casual Internet browsing is not going to be feeling bone hurt from shitty slow RAM.
Graphics Card: Don't bother. For a system like this, a graphics card is just one more thing that can break down and fail (since fans gradually wear out over time and eventually need to be replaced). The integrated graphics on the above CPUs will be more than sufficient for day to day use. However, if you do need or want a graphics card, do *not* get anything from Nvidia in the 30 tier (i.e GT 730, GT 1030, or GTX 1630), or anything from AMD below the "600" tier (RX 550, RX 5500, RX 6400, et cetera). From Intel, anything above an A380 is more than sufficient. The A580 is an especially tempting value proposition if you're buying new, but if you're okay with used and refurbished cards you can get an RX 580 for less than 100 USD, and it is still very much a card worth your consideration.
Case: Get something cheap, but not too cheap. Anything from Cooler Master's MasterBox lineup should be perfectly sufficient. Built-in case fans suck poopy ass. Replace them. More on cooling in a sidebar later in the post.
With a system built on the above specs, internet browsing, Zoom calls, sending emails, typing up Word documents, and spreadsheets that deal with anything less than the net accounts of a multimillion dollar corporation should be handled without breaking a sweat, as well as some light gaming like Minecraft or Fortnite, though don't expect it to be smoking Starfield at max settings. Then again, nothing can really run Starfield at max settings because it's such an unoptimized piece of shit, but I digress.
Use Case 2: Budget Bruiser
A whole lot of power in a very cramped budget. The real "most gamers still play at 1080p" build, this is going to be comfortable for a lot of people building their own because they can't afford the assembly surcharges of SI systems
Motherboard: Similar advice as New Reliable on this one. ASRock is good, don't spend more than 100 USD on this unless you absolutely cannot get the features you need otherwise. However, when you're not just looking for the bare minimum that works, there are some other things to keep an eye out for. For starters, rear I/O.
Tumblr media
This is what a fairly "standard" rear I/O arrangement looks like. Bunch of USB-A Ports, one or two USB-C ports, audio, Ethernet, and some video outputs like HDMI and DVI. Combined with the USB ports on your case, these will be more than enough for pretty much everyone. Seriously, even with a mouse, keyboard, USB mic, flash drive, DAC, and pen tablet all plugged in simultaneously, I still don't run out of USB-A connectors, just on the motherboard, before accounting for the ones on my case or those added by a USB hub. Unless you need SPDIF or cleaner power delivery out of your USB ports for sensitive audio equipment or something else that just isn't available in the sub-100 dollar price segment, 80-90 dollar motherboards like the one pictured above (the ASRock B450M Pro4 R2.0, currently available for 78 dollars on Amazon) are the way to go.
Another crucial consideration when it comes to motherboards is the chipset. The sweetspot on price-to-performance is generally found in the B-series chipsets from both vendors (B450/B550/B650 from AMD, B460/B550/B660 from Intel). They provide more than the bare minimum of features, but unlike their X (for AMD) or Z (for Intel) series sisters, they won't bankrupt you. Finally, expansion:
Tumblr media
The slots outlined in red are RAM slots. You will generally get at least two of these in any desktop motherboard, though you're going to want to get four for the extra capacity potential it affords you at a lower price compared to going for extremely high densities.
The other three slots are Peripheral Component Interconnect Express or PCIe slots. You will want at least one of the big ones, preferably more, and ideally one of the small ones. However, if you look closely and compare the slots highlighted in green and yellow, you will notice that the green one has "pins" all along the top of its length, while the yellow one only has a handful. You want a big slot with pins all the way down, as having fewer electrical connections means a slower slot that will reduce performance significantly.
Power Supply: ONCE AGAIN I CANNOT STATE ENOUGH THE IMPORTANCE OF NOT CHEAPING OUT ON YOUR PSU. For finding high quality PSUs that are efficient, quiet, and possess all the protections you need to make sure a power surge doesn't fry your system, Cybenetics' database of power supplies is an absolutely amazing resource. As for wattage, it depends on your CPU and graphics card, but generally something in the 850W-1000W range is probably safe so as to leave ample headroom for upgrading down the line.
CPU: Choosing a CPU and graphics card pairing is one of the most difficult and infuriating parts of any build. However, some general advice to make the process less painful is as follows: Firstly, aim for components within the same place in the product stack. A Core i9 with an RTX 3060 is going to result in the i9 spending most of its time twiddling its thumbs waiting for the 3060 to play catch-up. Given that we're aiming to not break the bank here, I'd recommend aiming in the Ryzen 5/Core i5 category, and getting something recent and modern. Good picks for this are the Ryzen 5 3600X, the Ryzen 5 5600, Ryzen 7 5700X (if you're lucky you can snag them shockingly cheap on sales), and Ryzen 5 7600 from the AMD side of the aisle. Intel's Core i5-12600KF spent a solid year as the uncontested price-to-performance dominator, and its newer siblings, the 13600KF and 14600KF, have both carried on that legacy admirably. Aiming for the 7 tier, the Ryzen 7 7700(X) is largely the same as its little sister, the 7600, and can be mostly safely ignored. The Core i7-14700K brings a noticeable amount of performance over the 13700K, but depending on pricing in your region the single-digit uplift might not be worth the extra cost.
RAM: Regarding capacity, 16 gigs is a good amount that'll handle most tasks without difficulty. When using DDR4 RAM, get two 8 gig sticks rather than 1 16 gig one to take advantage of dual channels. When using DDR5, one stick is fine, though it may be more expensive due to higher density. YMMV, choose according to your own circumstances. When it comes to speed, 3200 MT/s (NOT MHz, that is a LIE, and it makes me ANNOYED) is pretty much always a safe bet on DDR4. On DDR5, 6000 is the max that AMD can safely handle. Anything over that is playing with fire. Intel can in many cases handle 7200 without breaking a sweat.
Storage: 1 TB SSDs are extremely cheap now, you can get high speed NVMe ones for around 50 bucks. Do so. I would recommend something from Intel or Solidigm (same engineers, they just work for a different sticker now). If you want or need more storage, you can get dirt cheap SATA SSDs and HDDs, but they should generally not be used for storing games or other things that require high performance.
Graphics Card: And now, the part where I get egged off stage for being too right for people to handle. There are currently three major graphics card manufacturers, all of whom are worth consideration depending on your needs and your budget. Nvidia holds the performance crown, and never fails to remind us of this fact as it charges exorbitantly inflated prices for its products. Their current gen products are largely a waste of sand. However, their last generation, the RTX 30-series, is definitely worth considering, especially the RTX 3060 and 3060 Ti, if they can be found at a sub-300 dollar price point (though the Intel Arc A770 16GB does have them beat in many cases). AMD and Intel both bring compelling offerings to the table across the whole stack, with some highliths being the AMD Radeon RX 7600 and 7800 XT, and the Intel Arc A750 and A770 16GB.
Case: The case is going to be the part of your system you look at the most, so make it the one you like looking at the most. Fractal Design, Lian Li, and InWin all make excellent cases, as does Corsair. The Fractal Design North, Corsair 4000D Airflow, and Lian Li O11 Dynamic are all excellent cases, and if you can get me an In Win DUBILI I will eat you out.
Sidebar: Cooling
PC components give off heat, and that heat needs to be managed. This is a significant aspect of PC building, and I felt it deserved its own little heading rather than to just be lost in the sauce of the rest of the post. The main concerns with cooling are thermal transfer, airflow, and noise. Let's go through them one by one.
Thermal Transfer
This refers to taking heat from a heat-generating component, and moving it away from it. Graphics cards will already come with their own in-built cooling solution, and SSDs and stuff don't give off enough heat for it to be a serious concern for the most part. The main place where thermal transfer becomes a relevant concept is the CPU. We can move heat away from the CPU by using a CPU cooler. Many CPUs come with one in the box, but you can also buy a separate one. There are two main types of coolers, air, and liquid. Air coolers use large, dense aluminium finstacks which are exposed to a lot of moving air (discussed more in the section on airflow) to move heat away from the CPU and then away from the inside of the computer entirely assuming you can afford a decent thermal solution that has both intake and exhaust rather than just intake like I have at the moment please send help. Liquid coolers use thermally-conductive liquids like ethylene glycol, which come into indirect contact with the CPU through a copper coldplate before flowing up into a radiator, where dense aluminium finstacks get air blown through them to dissipate heat. Air coolers are generally cheaper and more reliable due to less moving parts (i.e none aside from the fans), but liquid coolers can oftentimes match them in price and performance while retaining similar sound profiles (more on that in a bit). However, neither type of cooler will perform to their fullest without the use of something known as a Thermal Interface Material, or TIM. The most common TIM is thermal paste, which is an electrically non-conductive gooey thing you put on your CPU before installing the cooler to fill the microscopic airgaps between the cooler's coldplate and the CPU, improving cooling performance significantly. However, thermal paste will dry out gradually, and lose performance. If you want something that won't need to be replaced every few years, try using something like Thermal Grizzly Kryosheet, which due to being a sheet of solid graphene rather than paste doesn't dry out ever.
Airflow
Airflow is the next major consideration for cooling. Congratulations, you got the heat away from the components! Now what. That hot air is now stagnating inside your case, driving up ambient temperature and making your components run far hotter than they should. To avoid such a fate, you need strong intake and exhaust airflow. For this purpose, we use fans mounted on and in the case, to move air from the outside, into the case, through the case, and then out of the case again. A lot of people on the Internet have very strong opinions about airflow, but honestly so long as your case isn't completely garbage, a few filtered (most cases nowadays come with magnetic dust filters) intakes and an exhaust should be more than sufficient to cool most modern components within acceptable margins.
Noise
Your components might run cool, but that's not of much use if the fans screech like banshees. The third and final consideration in your cooling solution is how loud and obnoxious it is going to be. The main culprit here is going to be fans, which, if impeded, will have to work doubletime to maintain temperatures, resulting in higher noise levels (though decent fans will manage this by making their sound profiles less SCREECHING BANSHEE and more of a hiss or a rumble, which isn't perceived as being as loud by human ears). However, the pumps in liquid coolers can also create an obnoxious whine if installed incorrectly, so make sure to look up the proper orientation for their installation to avoid such a fate, or to rectify it if it is already suffered.
I have no idea why I spent the past six or so hours writing this guide that no one is going to ever read but uh...I did! I might at some later point actually write up something on how to put a system together, but there's oodles of tutorials for that stuff on the Internet, so it's hardly needed.
So You Need To Buy A Computer But You Don't Know What Specs Are Good These Days
Hi.
This is literally my job.
Lots of people are buying computers for school right now or are replacing computers as their five-year-old college laptop craps out so here's the standard specs you should be looking for in a (windows) computer purchase in August 2023.
PROCESSOR
Intel i5 (no older than 10th Gen)
Ryzen 7
You can get away with a Ryzen 5 but an intel i3 should be an absolute last resort. You want at least an intel i5 or a Ryzen 7 processor. The current generation of intel processors is 13, but anything 10 or newer is perfectly fine. DO NOT get a higher performance line with an older generation; a 13th gen i5 is better than an 8th gen i7. (Unfortunately I don't know enough about ryzens to tell you which generation is the earliest you should get, but staying within 3 generations is a good rule of thumb)
RAM
8GB absolute minimum
If you don't have at least 8GB RAM on a modern computer it's going to be very, very slow. Ideally you want a computer with at least 16GB, and it's a good idea to get a computer that will let you add or swap RAM down the line (nearly all desktops will let you do this, for laptops you need to check the specs for Memory and see how many slots there are and how many slots are available; laptops with soldered RAM cannot have the memory upgraded - this is common in very slim laptops)
STORAGE
256GB SSD
Computers mostly come with SSDs these days; SSDs are faster than HDDs but typically have lower storage for the same price. That being said: SSDs are coming down in price and if you're installing your own drive you can easily upgrade the size for a low cost. Unfortunately that doesn't do anything for you for the initial purchase.
A lot of cheaper laptops will have a 128GB SSD and, because a lot of stuff is stored in the cloud these days, that can be functional. I still recommend getting a bit more storage than that because it's nice if you can store your music and documents and photos on your device instead of on the cloud. You want to be able to access your files even if you don't have internet access.
But don't get a computer with a big HDD instead of getting a computer with a small SSD. The difference in speed is noticeable.
SCREEN (laptop specific)
Personally I find that touchscreens have a negative impact on battery life and are easier to fuck up than standard screens. They are also harder to replace if they get broken. I do not recommend getting a touch screen unless you absolutely have to.
A lot of college students especially tend to look for the biggest laptop screen possible; don't do that. It's a pain in the ass to carry a 17" laptop around campus and with the way that everything is so thin these days it's easier to damage a 17" screen than a 14" screen.
On the other end of that: laptops with 13" screens tend to be very slim devices that are glued shut and impossible to work on or upgrade.
Your best bet (for both functionality and price) is either a 14" or a 15.6" screen. If you absolutely positively need to have a 10-key keyboard on your laptop, get the 15.6". If you need something portable more than you need 10-key, get a 14"
FORM FACTOR (desktop specific)
If you purchase an all-in-one desktop computer I will begin manifesting in your house physically. All-in-ones take away every advantage desktops have in terms of upgradeability and maintenance; they are expensive and difficult to repair and usually not worth the cost of disassembling to upgrade.
There are about four standard sizes of desktop PC: All-in-One (the size of a monitor with no other footprint), Tower (Big! probably at least two feet long in two directions), Small Form Factor Tower (Very moderate - about the size of a large shoebox), and Mini/Micro/Tiny (Small! about the size of a small hardcover book).
If you are concerned about space you are much better off getting a MicroPC and a bracket to put it on your monitor than you are getting an all-in-one. This will be about a million percent easier to work on than an all-in-one and this way if your monitor dies your computer is still functional.
Small form factor towers and towers are the easiest to work on and upgrade; if you need a burly graphics card you need to get a full size tower, but for everything else a small form factor tower will be fine. Most of our business sales are SFF towers and MicroPCs, the only time we get something larger is if we have to put a $700 graphics card in it. SFF towers will accept small graphics cards and can handle upgrades to the power supply; MicroPCs can only have the RAM and SSD upgraded and don't have room for any other components or their own internal power supply.
WARRANTY
Most desktops come with either a 1 or 3 year warranty; either of these is fine and if you want to upgrade a 1 year to a 3 year that is also fine. I've generally found that if something is going to do a warranty failure on desktop it's going to do it the first year, so you don't get a hell of a lot of added mileage out of an extended warranty but it doesn't hurt and sometimes pays off to do a 3-year.
Laptops are a different story. Laptops mostly come with a 1-year warranty and what I recommend everyone does for every laptop that will allow it is to upgrade that to the longest warranty you can get with added drop/damage protection. The most common question our customers have about laptops is if we can replace a screen and the answer is usually "yes, but it's going to be expensive." If you're purchasing a low-end laptop, the parts and labor for replacing a screen can easily cost more than half the price of a new laptop. HOWEVER, the way that most screens get broken is by getting dropped. So if you have a warranty with drop protection, you just send that sucker back to the factory and they fix it for you.
So, if it is at all possible, check if the manufacturer of a laptop you're looking at has a warranty option with drop protection. Then, within 30 days (though ideally on the first day you get it) of owning your laptop, go to the manufacturer site, register your serial number, and upgrade the warranty. If you can't afford a 3-year upgrade at once set a reminder for yourself to annually renew. But get that drop protection, especially if you are a college student or if you've got kids.
And never, ever put pens or pencils on your laptop keyboard. I've seen people ruin thousand dollar, brand-new laptops that they can't afford to fix because they closed the screen on a ten cent pencil. Keep liquids away from them too.
LIFESPAN
There's a reasonable chance that any computer you buy today will still be able to turn on and run a program or two in ten years. That does not mean that it is "functional."
At my office we estimate that the functional lifespan of desktops is 5-7 years and the functional lifespan of laptops is 3-5 years. Laptops get more wear and tear than desktops and desktops are easier to upgrade to keep them running. At 5 years for desktops and 3 years for laptops you should look at upgrading the RAM in the device and possibly consider replacing the SSD with a new (possibly larger) model, because SSDs and HDDs don't last forever.
COST
This means that you should think of your computers as an annual investment rather than as a one-time purchase. It is more worthwhile to pay $700 for a laptop that will work well for five years than it is to pay $300 for a laptop that will be outdated and slow in one year (which is what will happen if you get an 8th gen i3 with 8GB RAM). If you are going to get a $300 laptop try to get specs as close as possible to the minimums I've laid out here.
If you have to compromise on these specs, the one that is least fixable is the processor. If you get a laptop with an i3 processor you aren't going to be able to upgrade it even if you can add more RAM or a bigger SSD. If you have to get lower specs in order to afford the device put your money into the processor and make sure that the computer has available slots for upgrade and that neither the RAM nor the SSD is soldered to the motherboard. (one easy way to check this is to search "[computer model] RAM upgrade" on youtube and see if anyone has made a video showing what the inside of the laptop looks like and how much effort it takes to replace parts)
Computers are expensive right now. This is frustrating, because historically consumer computer prices have been on a downward trend but since 2020 that trend has been all over the place. Desktop computers are quite expensive at the moment (August 2023) and decent laptops are extremely variably priced.
If you are looking for a decent, upgradeable laptop that will last you a few years, here are a couple of options that you can purchase in August 2023 that have good prices for their specs:
14" Lenovo - $670 - 11th-gen i5, 16GB RAM, and 512GB SSD
15.6" HP - $540 - 11th-gen i5, 16GB RAM, and 256GB SSD
14" Dell - $710 - 12th-gen i5, 16GB RAM, and 256GB SSD
If you are looking for a decent, affordable desktop that will last you a few years, here are a couple of options that you can purchase in August 2023 that have good prices for their specs:
SFF HP - $620 - 10th-gen i5, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD
SFF Lenovo - $560 - Ryzen 7 5000 series, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD
Dell Tower - $800 - 10th-gen i7, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD
If I were going to buy any of these I'd probably get the HP laptop or the Dell Tower. The HP Laptop is actually a really good price for what it is.
Anyway happy computering.

I haven't heard much about this company, I wouldn't be worried about it being a scam they have enough recommendations they are legit. My only worry would be if you had a problem with a pc being damaged through shipping, I don't know how they would handle that situation. (just a warning, they could have great customer service and this is a non issue)
For about $1100 this is by far the best pc I found with a ryzen 5 5600x cpu, nvidia rtx 3060ti gpu, 16 gigs of ram at 3200MHz and terabyte of storage. It also has a full mesh front panel so I wouldn't be worried about cooling. I'd also like to note it doesn't mention any bluetooth or wifi support just warning you. I'd expect around 130 fps in cod warzone no problem maybe even more if you lowered your settings.
This pc is the most budget friendly at only about $800. It has a 10th gen i5 processor which isn't bad but older than the ryzen 5 in the nebula, also has a 1660ti which is much older than the 3060ti but still a great card, it has a terabyte of storage and 16 gigs of ram. Honestly I'd expect around 80-90 fps on average in cod warzone depending on the settings.
Now here's an Nzxt build for about $1050. Nzxt is a huge prebuild gaming pc company. I would not be worried about quality control or even if there was an issue I have no doubt they would take care of the issue no problem.
This build while being almost as much as the nebula doesn't quite have the same bang for the buck. It says It can get 75 fps in cod warzone, I wouldnt be surprised if you could get more messing with the settings a bit though. It has a 12th gen i5 so newer and definitely a great cpu with a nvidia rtx 3050. Not as good as the 3060ti in the nebula. Also 16 gigs of ram at 3200Mhz. The biggest issue I see though is it only has 500 gigs of storage, enough to play cod warzone but not much else after that. If you play more games you'll be downloading and deleting a lot. It's of course possible to buy more storage and install it yourself (It's not very hard but a little complicated. I know of a good youtube tutorial that can help you). This pc case is also completely mesh front so I don't see an issue with cooling and It does mention wifi support if that's important to you. Although I'd suggest using an ethernet cable.
These are brand new prebuilds that should work out of the box. This is with about 2 hours of looking I think it's important to note that if you were willing to buy used I'm sure you could find a pc with better specs, of course that comes with it's own issues that buying anything used always has. Let me know if you want me to keep looking (although I really don't think I'll find anything better than the nebula that thing is a great deal)

💛Astro Notes💛
(All about Fixed signs)
(These may or may not apply to you, please keep an open mind and take it as entertainment rather than life changing facts. Please credit me if you’re going to use my work, or ask me beforehand.)
Tumblr media
💛Fixed Sun and Rising are the most notable. You can definitely tell when some is a Taurus, Leo, Scorpio or an Aquarius Sun. In the rising it over powers the qualities of the Sun when it comes to how you come off.
💛Fixed Moons are double edged swords. On one hand they give the person endurance, patience and strong emotional capabilities. On the other hand, it incites overreacting and overthinking, running things over and over to the point of burning the mind out before physically achieving anything. This is why many fixed moons are labeled “lazy”.
💛Taurus and Leo represent the good things in life, food, money, clothes, art, fame, kids, the home, the superficial. Ruled by the Sun and Venus, respectively, they’re the rose to their opposites thorn. Whichever houses they reside in they bring security and confidence to but it can quickly get to their heads and turn into ego.
💛Scorpio and Aquarius on the other hand represents the other side of life. Fighting, cruelty, freedom, sex and death. Ruled by Uranus, Pluto and Mars, these signs speak of the grimmer side of life, some would argue its real life with no filter where we have to fight for our rights (Scorpio and Aquarius) in order to enjoy it (Taurus and Leo). Both signs bring resilience to whichever house and/or placement giving the person an edge in that part of life. Although, they’re hard to fool both signs are prone to destroy what they have built just so no one can do it first.
💛Fixed dominants are really stubborn and rigid when it comes to their ideals but they’re also facts based and would change their mind eventually.
💛This can be seen alot with Gen Z (Majority are Aquarius dominants) and Millennials (Strong effects of Scorpio Pluto) where they fight tooth and nail for something only to realize they were wrong the whole damn time.
💛Scorpio Venus is one hell of a mystery. They’re so timid in public but are very sexual in reality. They don’t see it but everything they watch is erotic or filled with sexual themes.
💛Houses that are in Fixed signs indicate deviance and possibly using sex and/or sexuality to get what you want.
💛I personally find Leos to be very attractive
💛Empty Fixed houses give a clear perspective on the house’s theme. It doesn’t necessarily mean that the person is fully confident in that part but it is easy for them to get over any obstacles or dilemmas.
💛The oppoiste is true, especially for Fixed house stelliums and those with Sun and/or Moon residing under one. Although, an indication of power, assurance, confidence, abundance and energy, it may not be easily obtained. Fixed houses can be like traps at times, they lure you in with all the money, fame, and pleasure you desire but the price you pay is your freedom and growth.
💛Even though they’re stated as “the biggest enemies with zero compatibility” in text book zodiac, but I know alot of Taurus and Aquarius married couples.
💛I am not sure the reason why but some of the biggest and most influential people throughout history were Fixed Suns. For better or worse
💛Aquarius Moons have the biggest contrast from one another. I never met one that was like another Aquarius Moon. This Moons works low key, hard to identify and explain, and even harder for the individual to analyze and digest.
💛Leo Suns talk about themselves alot more than other Leo placements. It’s not necessarily in the “all about me” tone but rather they always have to relate things back to them to let you know that they understand. Or they just love talking themselves and I got it wrong.
💛Taurus Venus is like if Taurus and Libra were a single Venusian sign. They have the class and beauty of Taurus and the youthful playfulness of Libra.
💛People with Fixed placements gravitate towards people with Fixed placements. I have yet to see otherwise.
💛Before you fight with a Fixed Mars remember that they fight for them to not lose, not for them to win. They will do everything so that you lose.
💛Scorpio Mercury is the ULTIMATE booksmart but damn are they really lost when it comes to people and the streets.
💛Fixed 10th house are more driven and career oriented than Cardinal signs. This is because they use success as way of proving themselves to the world, the hater, the doubters, their parents, that one person that looked at them weird. Simply put, they will be successful just to prove you wrong.
💛Taurus Moon is the earthy, easy going, chill Taurus that smokes weed and loves nature and colors like brown and green that people keep talking about. As a Taurus I can tell you that I am not one of those things nor have I ever liked them.
💛Fire dominant Scorpios are one of the most pretentious people I have ever met. They’re so fake deep and got it all “figured out”. Not a cute look babe.
💛All the people with Aquarius in the 8th that I have met just hate sex and talking about sexual things. It really weirds them out, which I get. Shit is weird if you think about it.
💛Aquarius Mercury can flay people’s skin with their tongue. They get creative with their insults to say the least.
💛Leo in the 11th is status obsessed. You can’t be their friend if you don’t “match” them.
💛Fixed Suns and dominants are super bougie. They love everything extra with a side of extravagance and add triple too much.
💛People with a Fixed Sun and Moon combination are victims of their big egos. They could really fall into delusions of grace and power having done absolutely nothing in real life
💛I have noticed that Leos don’t like it when someone has something in common with them. It’s as if whenever someone relates to them, they’re no longer “unique”, “different” or “special”
💛Fixed in 12th house experience crashing highs and lows. They never learn or attune to something unless they hit the rock hard cold bottom.
💛Leo Chiron is a hidden fame indicator. Many with this placement are child stars

Rooster Teeth Glassdoor Crunch/Overtime Accusations #AnimatorsFirst
EDIT: Georden Whitman, former creator of Nomad of Nowhere, has come out and publicly confirmed the Glassdoor reviews are true.
Original story:
Rooster Teeth’s Glassdoor reviews have recently made serious allegations against the company, with people who work for the company claiming that the company engages in practices involving heavy crunch periods, a resistance to providing benefits, eighty hour work weeks, a management team trying to justify crunch and unpaid overtime that, according to some, led to as much as a third of RWBY and gen;LOCK’s recent seasons being made effectively for free.
Below are screencaps and exact quotes from the pages. Any emphasis made is done by me.
From May 23rd this year, as written by an employee with three years experience at RT:
Tumblr media
Cons
Program scheduling department has no idea how to time budget for animation, has resulted in unnecessary, preventable crunch Company takes on projects that are too big for it to manage effectively Not the highest pay compared to Anim Guild standards Open office space, gets noisy
Advice to Management
Management has been using a weird method to try and deescalate hard feelings about crunch. They’re acting like counselors who are “there to talk” and to try and find “coping mechanisms” to deal with crunch. This is a terrible idea considering that none of them are trained counselors as far as I’m aware, but more-so, they’re obviously going to be biased in favor of what they want from us. It makes me want to communicate with them even less. This past review, my manager criticized me for having “negative energy” during a terrible crunch period where we were working over 80 hrs s week, and told me I should “look for the silver lining” which is just bad advice. Advice to management is to stop pretending you know anything about mental health and also be less passive - fight harder for your team.
From May 13th, an employee with a year’s experience at Rooster Teeth:
Tumblr media
Cons
The management is terrible. Artists are lead on with the promises of "full time employment and benefits" dangled in front of them without ever being addressed and ultimately are never given, there is no paid overtime, artists had to fight for their right to time off between productions, and good luck getting any form of benefits despite them being plastered on the wall.
Advice to Management
You're not a group of guys playing halo in your apartment anymore. Please run your business and look at what's happened to it.
From June 11th this year, from an employee who has been working at the company for five years:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cons
- Extremely poor management (Some of it is negligence, some of it is just accidental from the sheer amount of work. Upper management is also extreme bro/friends club.) - Insanely high expectations (animate a 10-14 min episode in 2 weeks) - Very low compensation (I've worked here for years and make entry pay. Some people have gone MULTIPLE years with no raise) - No overtime pay (Every season of RWBY and GL gets about 1/3 or less made for 'free' because no one gets paid over time and it's not uncommon to work hundreds of hours of overtime) - Toxic work environment (there are a lot of cliques, complaining and even making fun of other people and depts here. It never gets punished so it always happens. Not professional)  - You know something is going right when after many complaints HR reminds everyone you have "unlimited" mental health doctor appointments... I could honestly go on and on like an emo on Myspace in 2007 but I'll reign it in. I'll leave it at this since I've seen many fans read these and be skeptical. It's not great. You can deny it but there is a lot of evidence if you just accept it. And the reason you work here is cus you get stuck and are promised "It'll get better". The work is low quality (hard to get jobs elsewhere), pay is low (can't save money) and life/work balance is a joke. We have a bit of balance now but it's only for a couple months out of the year when production isn't in full swing. Then it's back in the meat grinder.
Advice to Management
You NEED to listen to the workers and make hard decisions and actually fight for better conditions. It's been far far too long of "it'll get better" or "we know what to do next year". This isn't sustainable and I think we all know it. But someone has to be the guy to say "no" when things aren't good enough. If you don’t say no, hundreds of people suffer. Please.
From May 18th:
Tumblr media
Cons
Crunch has gotten to an unacceptable level. Productions have been completed with over half of total hours unpaid overtime, especially impacting the comp and editing department. Management cares more about their ego than the quality of the work they put out— letting the crunch caused by their irresponsible decisions fall solely on the shoulders of the artists while they enjoy a forty hour work week. Pay is laughable compared with the amount of mandated, unpaid hours of labor. No career advancement, and contract workers are given empty promises of full time employment before being shown the door once production is done.
Advice to Management
Stop saying the crunch issue is “getting better” or that you’re “working on it”, and start actually owning up to your mistakes.
From May 19th:
Tumblr media
Cons
-A lot of employees brought on, if not all, before the last development cycle were promised permanent positions after a 90 day trial period. As those dates approached those artists saw no change, asking their leads what was going on. The guidance from higher ups was vague at best, and some felt like they had been forced to lie to employees during the interview process. - A lot of processes went over-scope due to poor planning. -Lack of actual production experience in the management side of things is no longer something that can be glossed over as the company tries to take on more industry vetted employees. -Crunch is extreme and overtime is not compensated for, nor is that time given back in any fair amount.
Advice to Management
-Clear and concise communication -Re-structure your upper level management
From May 12th:
Tumblr media
Cons
Crunch here is out of control. No Paid OT. Expect to work A LOT for free. 70-80 hour work weeks. Mandatory 10-12 hour work days sometimes with no days off. Management is more interested in telling you what you want the hear as opposed to the truth.
Advice to Management
Fix the crunch issue and stop saying 'we're working on it'.... because you're not. Layoffs are certain. Will layoff bad employees and good employees in the same breath, completely eliminating any reason to work as hard as you're required to do. Fix your transparency issue and stop overworking your employees otherwise your reputation will severely suffer.
From April 5th:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cons
-No paid overtime. -Crunch is a major problem in the animation department due to unrealistic deadlines, poor planning, and indecisiveness. (Mandatory 10 to 12 hour days for multiple months are common.) -Stress levels are often very high due to harsh deadlines -Some of the producers tend to lie. -Promotions are used as a morale booster, not actual career advancement. -Hardly any time for Professional Development -Professionalism can be a bit scarce (for example people would draw penises on the boards throughout the studio)
Advice to Management
-Management needs to seriously figure out how to deal with the crunch issue. A question was asked at an all hands meeting: "How are you going to handle crunch this year?" Instead of giving a clear answer, the head of the RT animation department completely dodged the question. If you don't know how you are going to tackle a problem, try saying, "I don't know. I will get back with you ASAP." Then actually pursue a solution to the problem. Dodging questions makes you look shady and untrustworthy. -Improve production plans and make sure you have enough resources to complete your projects. If you are going to work on two shows at the same time, then you need to double ALL of your teams along the pipeline, not just one. If you can barely get one project done with your current resources, you certainly cannot finish two. If you can't get the resources needed to complete the projects, then it's probably best to keep them small or to simply not do them at all. Pushing your teams beyond the breaking point is not the wisest decision. If you continue with your overambitious ways, it will backfire in the long run. Telltale Games' closure and Bioware's Anthem debacle are examples of what's to come if you do not improve your production practices and get crunch under control. -Get more training on how to manage people. There are plenty of programs out there that can help management understand how to work with various types of personalities. There were some situations where I noticed that some leads and producers simply did not know how to talk to a person when there was a problem. Despite all of the criticism I just wrote, I feel the majority of who work at Rooster Teeth Productions are decent people. However, the management is just terrible. Put some of that ambition you have into fixing your problems internally instead of putting it into meeting those unrealistic deadlines.
From March 25th:
Tumblr media
Cons
- Massive amounts of unpaid overtime. All while touting the importance to the company of a life/work balance. They promise to give you the time back, but it will be impossible to take. - Management is just a joke. They can’t schedule or stay on track to save their lives. Total amateur hour. - Zero followthrough on promises made. How about a pizza party? - Pay much lower than standard. Don’t expect real raises. Promotions with increased responsibilities don’t come with comparable pay bumps. - Most promises of advancement and opportunities are hollow wishful thinking. - Almost zero followthrough with meaningful investment in employee education. You can access a Udemy account and that’s about it. - Management will blame the artists instead of taking responsibility and will even through people under the bus to cover themselves. - Internet celebs are more valuable than artists.  - Their awards are called “cockbite of the month/year” and it’s what they call their employees. You may not want to be called that but that’s too bad. It’s their culture. A few guys draw penises everywhere to be funny. - Not very much diversity in management. Feels like you need to be a straight white male to be appreciated.
Advice to Management
Hire some actual seasoned industry professionals to upper management in Animation. And demonstrate there are some consequences for them, instead of taking it out on employees.
From April 11th:
Tumblr media
Cons
-Overtime, and hours will cause any person to slowly become something they don't like. -Management is typically made up of "talent" and treats other employees poorly, not to mention 0 years of previous managerial experience. -Management also blames other employees for the problems they create, and don't show actual leadership. -Echo chambers within management. -Stress levels incredibly high -Lack of professionalism
Advice to Management
-Get rid of "talent" in managerial roles, it's clear they're costing the company serious problems and money. The ones who end up being hurt are the employees who knew and constantly warned about problems ahead of time that were ignored. If the company stays the same a huge incident is bound to follow. -Try to respect creatives that aren't "talent" within the company as well. It's clear management doesn't and goes against the entirety of the company's "core values." those who have had previous industry experience should be listened to and considered instead of being shrugged off and given responses like "Well that's just how we do things." -Collaboration doesnt seem to exist for a majority of managment here. If this one massive change happens the company could really grow far and do much more than create crude content with a lack of care/heart for the final product. -If people are able to sleep and have a normal schedule more thoughtful input will also happen, and your content can only get better. -A multitude of people and lives have been hurt from management at this company, from in house employees being mentally abused to freelancers that are ghosted. So many immature and poor practices have taken place within the animation department I'm amazed a lawsuit has yet to happen. -Management should be leaders not bosses.
It’s almost darkly funny that most of the positives are just “They give you free food on Mondays and the people are nice.”
But these are all from just the last year alone. Most reviews from before the start of 2019 don’t speak of crunch barring one from April 2018, one from March 2018 and one from June. This is a problem that has been affecting Rooster Teeth for at least an entire year, and since the start of the new year, the problem has magnified tenfold. Most reviews mention that the heads of departments are aware of the crunch and unpaid overtime but refuse to do anything about it beyond offering platitudes or dodging the question on what the company is going to actually do to fix the crunch problem.
Crunch is a problem plaguing many companies, especially in the western hemisphere. In gaming development there’s a story nearly every month about what apathetic upper management think they can get away with by forcing employees to spend dozens of hours every week slaving away on their product. I hoped that Rooster Teeth would not be one of these companies, but I am saddened to see that they were not.
Crunch’s negative effects on mental and physical health have been well documented, alongside the basic fact that crunch isn’t worth it and doesn’t work. Employees forced to crunch are unable to work as well as employees who are well rested and have time to go home to their families.
To anyone working these impossible crunch hours at Rooster Teeth right now, I hope your suffering ends soon, that eventually basic human empathy wins out and hours are lessened while you receive your just rewards for your work.
For @roosterteeth? This is appalling and a slap in the face to the fanbase you conned into thinking that you were a company that cared for everyone within as a huge family. Your entire management team should be ashamed of the environment you signed off on. No profit margin is worth the suffering you have subjected your crew to. Shame on you.
As a fan of RWBY, it disgusts me that a product I enjoy was made through blood, sweat and tears. And as a fan of RWBY, I wish to make a public call to the fanbase, be it on Tumblr, Reddit, Twitter or Youtube. I want to make a public statement to Rooster Teeth that we are willing to wait longer for new shows if it means that they are made ethically. I can’t in good conscience support a product if it was made by putting the workers through hell. Maybe I can’t change anything on my own, maybe ultimately we’ll just be ignored, but I refuse to stand by and stay silent on the matter, maybe even get Rooster Teeth to make changes in their workflow (I won’t say “I hope they respond” because they seem to respond in-house to complaints about crunch without ever actually changing anything)
I encourage you to share this around as much as you can. Share the accounts of the Glassdoor reviews as far and as wide as you can. We love and enjoy media, we love the people who make it- the animators, editors, writers and voice actors, and we as a community want them to not have to resort to RT’s seemingly unlimited mental health coverage or “find a coping mechanism to deal with crunch.” As much as it pains me to admit, I’d rather see RWBY die instead of seeing continue to be made on the back of crunch.
Thank you for reading. Again, I encourage you to share this around as much as you can. Let your voice be heard if you stand against this.

reader asks: 1! 13! 20! 30!
1. When did you start reading fic? (how old you were or how long ago)
Oh gosh, haha, I was way too young. I have stark memories of reading fanfic while my family lived in Europe on our big, boxy computer, and given we moved back to Australia before my 12th birthday, I would’ve been ten or eleven when I did that? I absolutely remember it being Digimon and Beyblade fanfiction though, haha.
I went through a lot of fandoms in my teens and early twenties, but actually took a pretty long break! I read bits of fic over the years for various fandoms, but never felt overly compelled to get back into fandom before Good Girls, so that’s fun!
13. What is your favourite fanfic trope?
I love a lot of tropes! As a reader though, I think my absolute-favourite-drop-everything-and-read-it is stuck in a cabin in the woods together, haha, particularly if it’s only one bed and involves huddling for warmth! A trifecta of favourite tropes!
20. Have you ever read a fic more than once? What is it about that fic that made you read it again?
I’ve read a lot of fic more than once! I’ve mentioned it on here before, but one of the fics I think I’ve read the most out of any fics is actually a Lord of the Rings fic series which is based around Legolas’ childhood by Daw the Minstrel. It’s a gen fic series, and focused on milestones of childhood and growing up, and I think I re-read the whole series every 18 months or so.
I didn’t actually base C&C and PH on it (they are extremely different genres after all), but in hindsight, I think it influenced it a lot? Particularly the sort of scattered narrative that jumps through time and the way conflict takes many shapes – both personal and political in hers, and personal and crime/career in mine.
30. Tell me something else about your fic reading! Anything you want!
As cheesy as it is to say, I really am constantly blown away by the quality of fic in this fandom. Having been in small fandoms before where the offerings have been, hmmm, lacklustre, haha, I love that we have so many talented and creative writers and creators here!
Ask me questions about reading fic!

I'm really sorry to bother you but could you maybe explain what the astrology stuff in your bio means? I want to learn more about it but I get so overwhelmed when I try to do it myself. I never really related to the sagittarius stereotype even though I'm technically a sagittarius... idk I think this stuff is neat but don't know what moon, sun, rising, etc signs are
:00000 OOO
So !!! Basically your birthday sign is your sun sign!!! And you have to find out the rest with your natal chart. Your natal chart is calculated using your full date of birth, time and place of birth.
You have planetary signs which are areas of your life. These planets go into different signs all the time!! That's why sun signs are known to be so popular!! The sign the sun goes into is consistent throughout the times of the year. But there's other planets too!! Like the moon, Mars, mercury, venus, and more!! Pluto is included as well, it's a generational sign like some of the outer planets. If you ever heard of Gen Z, that's Pluto in Sagittarius!!
Also the signs are numbered and each have symbols and rule certain houses and ruled by certain planets! They also have specific qualities and elements!
Aries! Ruled by Mars, is a cardinal sign and a fire sign.
Taurus! Venus, fixed and earth
Gemini! Mercury, mutuable and air
Cancer! Moon, cardinal and water
Leo! Sun, fixed and fire
Virgo! Mercury, mutuable and earth
Libra! Venus, cardinal and air
Scorpio! Mars/Pluto, fixed and water
Sagittarius! Jupiter, mutuable and fire
Capricorn! Saturn, cardinal and earth
Aquarius! Uranus/Saturn, fixed and air
Pisces! Neptune/Jupiter, mutuable and water
They all go in order from 1-12! And that's the house they rule. Houses are areas of life! And they can also have certain words in astrology!
1st house is also called the Rising sign or Ascendant sign, as well as 7th house is the Descendant sign!
And 4th house is Imum Coeli and 10th house is Medium Coeli/Midheaven and can be shortened to IC and MC!
Your house signs will go in order from each sign, unless if there's an interception. So if your 1st house is scorpio, it will go Sagittarius, Capricorn ... To Libra at 12th house
But I have an interception in my 6th and 12th house so it looks like this, skipping leo and aquarius.
Tumblr media
(it skips leo at 10th house and aquarius at 4th house)
Also every 6th sign is sister signs. So Aries/Libra, Taurus/Scorpio, Gemini/Sagittarius, Cancer/Capricorn, Leo/Aquarius and Virgo/Pisces! Also each pair is in the same quality and each pair is either Fire/Air or Earth/Water!!
Also each planet can have a detriment, fall, and exalt placement next to the sign it rules over. Detriment and Fall are bad/more difficult placements and exalt/rule are more easy placements. Or rather, that's the energy they're supposed to have rather than not.
Sun:
Ruled: Leo, Exalt: Aries, Detriment: Aquarius, Fall: Libra
Moon
Ruled: Cancer, Exalt: Taurus, Detriment: Capricorn, Fall: Scorpio
Mercury
Ruled: Gemini/Virgo, Exalt: Virgo, Detriment: Sagittarius/Pisces, Fall: Pisces
Venus
Ruled: Libra/Taurus, Exalt: Pisces, Detriment: Aries/Scorpio, Fall: Virgo
Mars
Ruled: Aries/Scorpio, Exalt: Capricorn, Detriment: Libra/Taurus, Fall: Cancer
Jupiter
Ruled: Sagittarius/Pisces, Exalt: Cancer, Detriment: Gemini/Virgo, Fall: Capricorn
Saturn
Ruled: Capricorn/Aquarius, Exalt: Libra, Detriment: Cancer/Leo, Fall: Aries
Uranus
Ruled: Aquarius, Exalt: Scorpio, Detriment: Leo, Fall: Taurus
Neptune
Ruled: Pisces, Exalt: Cancer, Detriment: Virgo, Fall: Capricorn
Pluto
Ruled: Scorpio, Exalt: Pisces, Detriment: Taurus, Fall: Virgo
Also, have you ever heard of Mercury Retrograde? Retrograde can make a placement more difficult to have. But if you have Retrograde in both Saturn and Jupiter, they will cancel each other out.
Now Finally, there's placements where it's basically all shoved together! My favourite type of placement, Planets in Houses!
Like the signs being in planets, and signs being in houses, planets can be in houses based on their sign.
Like Scorpio is my Sun sign as well as the sign in my 12th house, so my Sun is in my 12th house. So basically, my Sun, my ego, is effected by the 12th house, the subconscious area of my life. This is a difficult placement to have as my ego is hidden in the deep below of my mind. That made me, growing up, a shy and awkward person.
Also planets in houses can be similar to actually having the sign itself in that planet. Like having Sun in 12th makes me similar to someone who has a Pisces Sun, but not completely the same.
Also!!! Heres places to make your chart!!!
Astro Cafe makes it easy on beginners to read about the chart.
However, Astrotheme is more intuitive and simplistic to use, and I made an account to save all my charts to read it better!
Please let me know if you would like me to make your chart and/or continue talking about astrology basics. Like talking about aspects, asteroids and how to read circle charts.
I tend to post a lot of astrology related things on my sideblog @phantasmsinsideme !!!!
Sorry this post is so long but this is my hyperfixation!!!!

Hello gg! What your thought about Uranus in Pisces and Neptune in Aquarius are in mutual reception ?
Hey!! ❤️💕 Oh wow!! I forgot our generational planets have progressed through signs hdhndhjndmsn!!!! can’t believe our current 2k19 is a uranus in taurus/neptune in pisces already!! (also cap in saturn and sag in jupiter mMmmMm look at all these delicious domiciles) ❤️💕❤️💕
Mutual Receptions ⬇️
+ Aquarius Neptune/Pisces Uranus Gen
There’s a few things to consider: firstly, mutual receptions’ believed to aid each other generally. This is because they are placed in each other’s planets of rulership.
This is a pretty traditional concept (when things are dignified). But with generational planet it’s can be a little more..well, modern.. because the planet themselves (Uranus I’m looking at you) can represent very modern concept of ideologies as well. Some people consider the generational planets to be sub-category/expansion on the traditional planets. Which is something to think about in terms of rulerships, and where Pisces/Aquarius may lie in Jupiterian/Saturnian qualities as well (it’s traditional rulers)? ❤️💕
Second: there’s a few things that could strengthen the reception, if it’s not in rx and if it’s not combust/under the beam of the Sun. If it’s making aspects. These could strengthen the reception between both placements because it’s 1) healthy and 2) making direct connection to each other.
At the same time, this means that alot of different factors could alter that effectiveness/strength of reception it has together. It could potentially be less resourceful than we expect them to be especially if it’s condition is impaired.
The placement’s positions in the chart -- whether it’s aspected to the ascendant could affect how effective it is in getting the aid it could receive as well (i.e. a planet being in 12th house or 6th - which would be a ‘blindspot’ to the asc usually).
This isn’t the case with your example -- but say we have a Cancer Saturn and a Capricorn Moon - both planets are mutually receptive, but they are naturally not in the best condition individually (Cancer/Capricorn detriment in each other’s planets) - this could affect how it helps each other as well. Which is - not a lot, since the condition initially is more troublesome than what mutual reception could help with as well (doesn’t mean it doesn’t provide aid, just that it won’t do much if they’re already considered to be in detriment/fall - it can’t ‘push it up’ to be ‘good’ because the placement’s condition itself is *wriggly hand* like that y know)
So.. all of that foundation stuff out of the way. This depends on your placement’s position as well. Whether it’s in 1st/10th or what aspect it’s making to the ascendant -- those who are born in 2003 and want to look at their generational planet doesn’t mean it all affects them similarly. Some can be in a more dignified position than others. And this is good to consider too! ❤️💕
With mutual reception between Aquarius Neptune and Pisces Uranus.. I do think that the natives of this generation does particularly well with a sense of humour. It’s wack I know, but this is my interpretation of it.
I think there’s a high buoyancy for wanting change, but also a receptivity to other generation/what’s taking place right now in their environment + socially/ globally (taking in and reflecting that out).
In a way, it’s by being sensitive to the environment that they’re emos. But also they’re cool emos who expresses things outwards and pushes for things they want to have.
Pisces in Uranus can make Uranus compassionate and sympathetic to things around them, it’s a lot sometimes because it’s like they have a very large disc and an emotional antenna that sometimes soaks up too much -- it affects them personally as well. Aquarius Neptune translates that to like -- conceal don’t feel, but also talk shit about stuff to make a very blatant point about it through sarcastic prompters. That’s why we have eboys and egirls nowadays. But that’s off topic.
Do you kinda see what I mean kinda?? ;v; It’s a very interesting thing to have this.. I think they’re?? what?? 16-17 now?? but yeah!! ❤️💕 I hope this kinda helps/explain things a little! ❤️💕

Love note, photo album, ufo
(this was sent to my main but i gotchu anon)
love note: who likes who? crushes? relationships? are they mutual or unrequited?
Jocelyn’s first love and very best friend in Vault 13 was one Gabriel Ganal. They grew up to be extraordinarily close, and they both also mutually pined for each other without realizing that either of their feelings were reciprocated because they’re both Disaster Bi’s. Anyway, they get married and have a family after Jocelyn defeats the Master and they create the town of Arroyo, and it’s great, for the most part. At least until Jocelyn leaves, but it was good while it lasted!
Walker, also a Disaster Bi, has Very Complicated Feelings for Myron, and that’s all I have figured out for him so far. He quite possibly likes terrible, no-good, insufferable pricks, because he is also a terrible, no-good, insufferable prick, and like attracts like I guess.
Zee has had multiple things with multiple women over the years, none of them lasting very long due to Zee’s tendency to lead a life of wanderin’ that most gals just couldn’t keep up with. She’d been married twice before she settles with Chives after the events of the 2nd Battle of Hoover Dam: her first wife, Tusks, a first-gen Super Mutant and a fellow raider, whom she was forcibly separated from when she got hauled to Tibbets; her second wife, Maureen, she met in New Reno and married. Zee basically let that second marriage go to shit because Maureen is a claustrophobic former vaultie, and Zee just wouldn’t quit wandering to stay with her. As for her current marriage, Zee is mostly exasperated and frustrated by Chives, but she truly cares about her and wants to see her become a better person. She also admires her ability to read between the lines and resolve situations peacefully, talents that she herself feels she lacks.
Before the War, Chives had no time for relationships because she was focusing on getting ahead in school - not to mention the fact that she was very much locked in the closet. Now that she’s a 230 year old nihilist, Chives has had a long list of broken hearts and burgled wallets behind her. She is largely terrified of committed, “serious” relationships that would leave her emotionally vulnerable, but she’s trying to learn how the whole thing works with Zee. She greatly respects Zee and her brutal honesty and no-nonsense attitude - she might not ever admit it, but she subconsciously wants someone who can keep her behavior in check.
photo album: describe one of your OCs' favorite memories.
Jocelyn’s 12th birthday had a scavenger hunt all around the Vault - she found all of the clues and finished the race first, then later ate her weight in pre-packaged cake. Gabriel had given her a wonderful gift of a friendship bracelet he’d made himself, one that matched his own. It was the best birthday she’d ever had.
Walker looks out of the window of his newly-built house and sees, for the very first time, the sunrise shining on a brand-new Arroyo - people bustling around the adobe buildings, caravans coming in through the new bridge, the restored statue of his grandmother’s image in plain view in the middle of the plaza. He sips his morning coffee, and smiles.
Zee wakes up from a full day’s travel of sleeping in a dusty, hot passenger caravan, and sees the canyons of New Mexico for the very first time. It looks so different from the Graveyard - no dusty saloons, no bastard Rangers, and none of the hustle and bustle of their small, frontier town - just their caravan, the wide-open sky, the wind blowing through her hair, and deep, red canyons that looked like they went on forever.
Chives, for the very first time, beats her father at chess. For real, this time - she’s sure that he wasn’t just letting her win. The look he gets on his face when she’s got him in a checkmate is just priceless; shock, frustration, despair, consideration, then a satisfied little smirk. This is her first real victory.
ufo: identity! what are some key identifying qualities or traits of your OC(s)? how do they identify in regards to gender/sexuality?
A key component to all four of my Fallout protags is that they see themselves as just an average or otherwise unheroic person. Jocelyn is so humble and downplaying of her own achievements to the point of parody, Walker is used to being the runt of the litter and the town’s troublemaker, Zee doesn’t see herself as a good person, Chives knows sheisn’t a good person and doesn’t make an effort not to be.Gender and sexuality... I’ll get back to you on that one?

So this is a 12-member photo, indicating that it's pre-17th and Fukuchan is there. Which means that the two members covered up here are Yokoyan and Chel, which BOOOOOO I bet their faces were AMAZING.
(Wow, I didn't think Maria had it in her, but I shouldn't have doubted. Maria has never missed a chance to go 200%)
Cheap cop-out members not willing to go hard, you suck: 9th-11th gtfo, KitaRio, Mei on thin ice

fan fic: The Curve 1/?
As the 2017 racing season wears on, Daytona’s spontaneous magic reveals itself to have been, well, spontaneous magic. Cruz discovers that while she definitely knows how to drive, she might not yet know how to race; and Lightning realizes that even if he knows how to race, he has no idea how to be a crew chief. they Need to figure out how to pull it together before their hot mess gets any hotter.
BOB CUTLASS: Look, none of you need to be told that Dinoco's been the golden brand of racing almost as long as the sport's been around. But with their recent merge with Rust-eze, we've been getting something a little different.
DARRELL CARTRIP: Bob, you say that like it's a bad thing! Dinoco's known for quality racing, but this is a fast game with fast changes--just last year we saw the whole field go nuclear when the Next-Gens rolled off the line. For Dinoco to stay on top, they need something a little different, and I say Ms. Ramirez is just what the pit crew ordered!
CUTLASS: She's got a good set of tires on her, no doubt. But as we head into the second half of the season No. 51's racked up how many penalties already? Unsecured lugnuts, speeding on pit road, illegal lane changes--those aren't the kinds of records you wanna be setting. And she's reckless--if Ryan Laney weren't the A-grade talent that he is, he could've sent Swervez into the wall after that stunt she pulled getting in between 'em last week. She's just not--
--
"--used to racing with other cars. She doesn't see them; I don't know," Lightning tries to explain.
"Lightning, I'm gonna tell you once," Tex says placidly. "It's your job to know. It's your job to make sure she knows. I know we're bucking convention here, and I know there's gonna be growing pains. But I want to keep the track safe as we can--you know better'n me there's enough risk in racing as it is. We don't need more."
Lightning's gaze is glued to the floor. "Yeah, I know. I-- I'm sorry, Mr. Tex. I'll-- We'll-- We'll figure it out."
"Don't just say it. Do it," says Tex. His laidback demeanor never wavers, but he means business, and Lightning knows it. "You know I like you. I'm going with my gut, here, and not the numbers. Show me that wasn't my mistake. You hear?"
Lightning flashes his signature grin. "You bet, Mr. Tex!"
Once outside, his grin dribbles into the pavement.
 He takes a deep breath.
200 yards, and he's face to face with Mack.
Mack shouts, "Hey boss!" And then, quieter, "Hey, you look blue."
 Deep breath.
Signature grin. "Right back atcha!" Lightning replies, overloud. "Dinoco blue looks good on you, Mack. Good thing, too, because I hear you're hauling a t o p   t e n   f i n i s h e r," Lightning shouts emphatically, in the direction of Mack's rear.
When Cruz doesn't materialize, Lightning turns back to Mack. Mack shrugs helplessly.
Lightning progresses toward the mouth of Cruz's trailer. "Cruz! Are you in there? 'Cause rumor has it a certain someone led thirty whole laaa~ps today--"
"You can stop," says Cruz. She's quiet, pulled way to the back of the trailer, her front bumper just visible in the glow of the computer screen. The Racing Sports Network emanates tinny from the trailer's speakers.
Oh, no, thinks Lightning. "Cruz, bad idea. We talked about this. You can't let them get to you. I mean, those guys are great, but sometimes they just gotta stay stuff for the TV ratings, y'know? It's part of the game. So it's not personal if they--"
 --
CUTLASS: You're right, though, Darrell. We should cut her some slack. She's an 11th-hour rookie with a 12th-hour crew chief. McQueen's a legend, always will be--but a legend does not a crew chief make. What's costing Dinoco their consistency this season is simple: It's amateur hour over there. There's just not enough experience in the deck. What's happening out there--it's like watching loose cannons on a speedway.
CARTRIP: And that's not real racing. You got me there, Bob. You got me there.
To be continued...

First, it’s They Came From Beyond the Grave! and the Kickstarter that would not die. Or died and came back, if that’s more appropriate to the genre.
We’ve a little more than two weeks to go and it is shambling along having passed another Stretch Goal last week! You can gather more details in the Kickstarter section below!
Then there’s They Came from Beneath the Sea! whose PDF and PoD versions go on sale this Wednesday on DTRPG. Now this isn’t the traditionally printed version that was the main reward for its Kickstarter – that’s getting shipped over to the KS fulfillment gang at Studio2.
We need the other parts of that KS, like the Screen, to get there before Studio2 can start fulfilling the KS, but everything is being worked on at this point, so not too long now!
Finally, just wanted to throw out a little thought exercise to everyone. We’ve chatted in panels and such online about what could be next for They Came From…!, and I think we even have a thread about that topic on our Onyx Path forums, with such titles as They Came from Boot Hill! or They Came From Over Yonder! (Western genre), They Came From Under the Bed! (kid’s scary shows), and They Came From Past the Moon! (spaceship sci-fi).
But what would you be interested in? They Came From Monster Island!, maybe? Give us your thoughts in the comments section below!
From The Monday Meeting-
We reviewed our panel at Gen Con Online today in the Monday Meeting, and here are some interesting thoughts about that and more from Eddy Webb:
Our attendance at the What’s Up panel definitely seemed better than usual for Gen Con, but (understandably) lower than when we did it at Onyx Path Con a couple months back. The chat seemed well behaved, too. I think it’s worth doing again.
Related, one of the panels I did was in Second Life on Saturday. I admit I was skeptical, but the people running it were some old friends of mine, so I gave it a try, and honestly it really scratched an itch that Twitch streams don’t. They built out a large chunk of the Indianapolis convention center, down to the Grand Ballroom and the food trucks, as well as more fantastical settings like a fantasy forest and a post-apocalypse landscape. Many of the people I talked to were very new to tabletop RPGs and just excited to hear about things like Pugmire. And, to be honest, not having a camera on my face all the time made me feel a lot more comfortable, and the chats I was having before and after the event felt more like coming and going to an in-person panel. Yes, it also suffered from some disjointed messaging and the like, but we had a talk about dealing with things like the learning curve, and they have some good ideas for other conventions going forward. The group is called VRazethebar, and it’s something I’m definitely keeping an eye on.
Which is actually pretty cool. A VR space to gather in rather than the stacked head-shots sounds really interesting and immersive. The future of LARPing?
The Dog Days of Summer Sale on our Deluxe X20 books and Screens and even dice is going gangbusters over at IPR. I’m told we are completely out of the very last Werewolf: The Apocalypse 20th Anniversary Editions!
We added Changeling: The Dreaming 20th to the sale as well, so that includes the Deluxe book, the Screen, and C20 Dice!
Finally, we realized today that a bunch of us were going to be out all next week, and rather than having folks hang around as a skeleton crew, I just declared next week as a holiday for the whole company!
Frankly, we are beat every way somebody could be. Mentally, psychologically, physically, psychically, emotionally, creatively: BEAT. Our crew needs and deserves a break!
So, no MMN Blog next week, although we’ll probably put up a KS reminder or something like that late Monday.
No Onyx Pathcast next week, although I understand that this Friday the Trio will suggest their favorite ones to listen to while they’re gone.
We will have a project for sale that Weds, the 12th, as we can set that up ahead of time. More details below, but I’m thrilled to say it’s Mysteries of the World: The Scion Companion. I know a lot of folks have been waiting for more official Scion material – so here it is!
After a break to recharge, we’re hoping to come bouncing back all bright-eyed and bushy-tailed (and fanged and caped) and get right back into taking you to our:
Many Worlds, One Path!
Blurbs!
Kickstarter!
The They Came From Beyond the Grave! Kickstarter continues to claw its way free, and in the process it reveals treasures hidden in the grave dirt: the Screen and the first section of Monsters from the Crypt: a book containing More Monsters, and also an exclusive KS t-shirt coupon! Next up in Stretch Goals are even More Monsters and electronic Wallpaper!
Thanks to all of you who have pledged to enable this fantastic project and its Stretch Goals!
Here’s a specially-made special trailer by the brilliant Larry Blamire:
And keep your eyes open for:

On Sale This Week!
This Wednesday, the PDF and PoD versions of They Came From Beneath the Sea! arise from the depths and go on sale on DTRPG!
They Came from Beneath the Sea! is a dramatic and farcical tabletop roleplaying game encompassing the wonder, horror, thrills, and humor of 1950s and 1960s science fiction. This game allows you to play with all the great content from the B-movies of decades ago, and promises a dynamic, fun time for all involved!
In They Came from Beneath the Sea! you play humans in a world under attack. The attackers? Aliens from beneath the sea (obviously). Adventures range from the one-shot defense of a small coastal town, to the lengthier liberation of a cruise ship infested with gill-folk, all the way to the story in which characters seize an alien submarine and ride it all the way down to the sea bed to take the fight to the invaders. In this game, your protagonists are strong-jawed war veterans, cunning and resourceful explorers, utterly insane scientists, and blue-collar heroes, just looking to defend their patches of land.
They Came from Beneath the Sea! contains a mix of serious threat and unbridled farce. While the book plays it straight with no winking at the camera, your game will include ludicrous statements and events taken with all the gravitas of your boat being set on fire. While this game provides rules for funny quips and amusing cinematics for incorporation in a scenario, we leave it to the players and Director to discover the correct level of humor for your game.
They Came from Beneath the Sea! uses the Storypath System, provided in full in the pages of this book!
They Came from Beneath the Sea! includes:
• Five playable Archetypes — the Everyman, the G-Man, the Mouth, the Scientist, and the Survivor!
• Rules for character creation and play, using the Storypath System fully detailed in this book!
• Cinematic powers such as the ability to insert deleted scenes in your game, cut to black when everything is looking a bit too grim, and redirect shots to kill the extras!
• Quips to throw in at appropriate (and sometimes inappropriate) moments, giving your characters the chance at an award-winning scene!
• The history and setting of the 1950s world presented in this book!
• Scores of aliens promising the fall of the human race, presenting a broad array of dangers and objectives for repeat play!
• Two ready-to-play scenarios, straight out of the book!
And on Wednesday the 12th, we are delving into the Mysteries of the World: The Scion Companion, in PDF and PoD versions on DTRPG!
Though knowledge, wisdom, and the ability to see the unseen are many Scions’ birthrights, the World holds infinite secrets. Gaze deep into Tezcatlipoca’s mirror or the eyes of an avian bringer of omens, and no matter how sagacious you imagine yourself to be, you’ll learn something new — or something older than time.
Scion: Mysteries of the World presents optional rules and new pantheons, expands upon setting elements and systems, and gives Storyguides and players both a leg up in not only understanding Scion’s particular brand of the Storypath system, but fine-tuning it to meet their table’s needs. You don’t need this book to play a game of Scion, but if you want to explore the World and its many mysteries in more depth, it’s got you covered.
This book includes:
A system and advice for dialing elements of the game setting up and down to uniquely suit your game;
An expansion of cults, crafting, and relics;
Three new pantheons — the Loa of Haiti, the Nemetondevos of Gaul, and the Yazata of Persia — as well as the optional Atlantean pantheon, as an example that comes with advice and rules for how to create your own custom Purviews and pantheons;
A guide for converting Scion First Edition characters and stories to Second Edition.
Conventions!
Though dates for physical conventions are subject to change due to the current COVID-19 outbreak, here’s what’s left of our current list of upcoming conventions (and really, we’re just waiting for this last one to be cancelled even though it’s Nov/Dec). Instead, keep an eye out here for more virtual conventions we’re going to be involved with:
PAX Unplugged: https://unplugged.paxsite.com/

Today’s Reason to Celebrate!
One happy and one sad today. Today is the 49th birthday of our Kickstarter Concierge James Bell! James has been a ray of blinding golden light or a veritable Grond of Kickstarter-running for us and we’re sure glad to have him! Have a great day, eh!
Mike Chaney let us know today of the passing of his mother last night. None of us ever met her, but she managed to raise one of the nicest people, and talented art direction and layout maestro, that Mike is, so we feel like we have in a way. Thank you so much for that, ma’am. RIP.

Chel getting her punchline stolen by the Memelord lol "Blouson Chielsea with 12ki" I kinda want a full version of this now lol (So this was a great wiki walk. When I posted Momoclo's reference to this gag, I had no idea it was a reference. (I was enlightened by yesterday's Morning Jogakuin, when Ayumi dropped the 35gouku line) Here's the original thing they're referring to. This video is also informative, and explains what the "with B" part is about. Thanks a bunch to George of Japan for educating us all on Japan's memes!
