it's a good thing that I've developed a pretty cast-iron sense of self-worth, because otherwise....man, my boss could do a number on me without even really trying.

I almost never posted anything about my personal life, I think I’ve only done it twice and they were both just random things that happened in passing. However. This made my weekend and I had to draw it and share

#she tried to subtly boast about how she had the better hat because she was a higher level employee #he told her he didn’t care and she apparently blue-screened for a few minutes after that #other coworkers said she was relatively tame for herself that night but her meeting my brother and not knowing what to do #with a teenager who just wasn’t impressed with her #was the highlight of my weekend #she tried to get on his case about bringing stuff home #so he just started listing all the things he got permission from the big boss to take home #it was all stuff that was already going to be thrown out so it was fine #but he ended it with ‘i also brought home an employee. i think you know her (insert my real name)?’#and she shut up pretty quickly after that

anyhow. it is pretty inconsiderate but it's also not like. the height of psychological warfare, is it. just someone used to being the centre of attention surrounded by people who are used to him being the centre of attention - reflected in the eagerness of factory ducati to welcome him. one who doesn't give a shit about most people, including bastianini. barely even counts as crushing your rival because bastianini is basically competitively irrelevant from now on, like the question of whether this would bother that guy probably doesn't even register. you could say it's aimed at pecco, but that bloke's had two weeks to make his peace with losing the title and probably welcomes the chance to focus on what comes next

obviously the act of inserting yourself into this new team and this aggressive borderline performative cheerfulness marc's been shooting for this year does have an ulterior motive. and yeah, marc does play with that! he's gotten very boisterous, very much about asserting himself, emphasising again and again and again how much fun he's having. inevitably draws the attention to himself. it's a kind of weaponised joy, one without compromise or care for those left in the shadows. you perform your way to winning, right. and, well, I suppose he learnt that from the best. a bit cruel and a bit careless is a decent enough characterisation... this idea that marc keeps his fights on-track is silly but would also make him more boring than he is if it were true. he's there to win, and sometimes you're going to be a bit tacky and a bit crass along the way. the joys of competition

#'marc doesn't play mind games' is such a juvenile opinion that at a certain point you should simply ignore its proponents #i have so little respect for the concept of keeping fights on-track that this would not ever register as a good thing for me #//#brr brr #current tag #batsplat responds #i mean icl it probably doesn't help that seeing bastianini's race unravel was my personal highlight of the day #i was trying to play in my head whether there's any combination of riders where this would bother me #and idk i'm just not quite sentimental enough for it. i'm pro kicking people when they're down #been thinking bez should get over himself all weekend and all the marc/honda stuff last year left me completely cold #so this might just be a universal heartlessness
