"I Guess I Never Knew You." | OT8 [SKZ]
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Genre : Angst [NO COMFORT]
Pairing : SKZ OT8 x GN!Reader
Summary : Based off of a request asking for reactions/how it would play out if the members were to cheat on you during your relationship. Each scenario is different - and these are rather short simply because I am trying to focus on Kinktober right now. Hopefully whoever requested this will be satisfied!
Warnings : CHEATING, lots of crying, angry responses from the boys, dismissal from the boys, reader gets angry in a few of them, yelling, etc. Very emotional.
These situations are all fictional and are not made to represent the boys. While I do write them as well as I can - based closely off of their personality and how I think they would realistically react - I honest to God do not think any of these men would be capable of cheating on their partner. Specifically Jeongin.
Tumblr media
Bangchan - He cheats while you think he's busy with work
The excuses were so easy to make with you. 'Sorry, Angel. I'm staying late at the studio again because Jisung is sick.' 'I'm going in early to work on choreography with Min. See you.' 'Be back late, don't wait up.'
When eventually he just stopped giving you warnings, worry set in. His health was your top priority - but nothing of your own was his apparently. You'd walked into the studio with a small lunchbox full of snacks and water for him, assuming he was staying late again, only to see him with someone in his lap.
It's enough to make you tense, barely hearing his whispers and gently shushes of worry. He was sorry, he meant it, he swore, he didn't know you would find out --
It took every bone in your body to not hit him with that little metal lunchbox.
Lee Know - He cheats with an old friend from school
A girl you'd seen in his posts before. You'd found them kissing in a park while you were on your way to work, walking along the sidewalk only to stop and stare. A few girls had also paused to point and giggle, assuming the girl he was holding hands with was his girlfriend as he'd never done anything with you in public - no one knew that you were the one he should've been sucking face with.
Minho kisses the girl once more before they depart, pivoting on his heel only to fault. He stares at you from where he stands, your unmoving form timid and beginning to shake as the tears streaked down your face. He lifted a hand to reach out, watching as your body turned and - in the pouring rain - dropped your umbrella in your pursuit to get away.
He yelled, crying out for you to stop and let him explain. You didn't seem to listen, putting your feelings first and refusing to hear him out as he chased you down. He was fast - you were faster - darting across the road and narrowly missing an oncoming vehicle as you stumbled to the sidewalk before continuing to run to your apartment.
It really was a good thing you hadn't moved in with him when he'd asked you to.
Changbin - He cheats while away for a weekend
Seungmin had sat you down, told you everything. He'd shown you pictures he'd taken on his phone because he knew you were -- God, you were wonderful. And that wasn't his own feelings for you talking.
You'd been so good to Changbin. You made sure he ate three meals a day, made sure he had water, encouraged him to keep working on his music, his solos - choreography, etc. You'd done everything for him when he didn't have the energy to, visiting him during late nights and hugging him tight to tell him how wonderful he was and that he deserved the world.
Apparently, he grew a bit too cocky during their recent trip to Japan. Seungmin's pictures painted a portrait of your boyfriend with another woman in his lap, his face hidden by her hair as she sucked marks onto his skin that would disappear by the next morning.
You didn't confront him - didn't feed into it. You thanked Seungmin, left after patting his shoulder knowing it would likely be the last time you'd see him, and went home to move everything out of your shared apartment.
The next day, Changbin went on an indefinite hiatus.
Hyunjin - He cheats online
It started with the fucking instagram models.
Then he was messaging people, you find out. Contacting women he'd seen at fashion weeks or previous works with magazines. He'd asked them for photos, told them just how beautiful they were, and after looking through their profiles on your own, you'd felt like every ounce of self confidence you'd had was completely destroyed.
He'd only realized you'd found out when he came home from practice - no, 'practice.' - and found you sitting on the couch with tear stained cheeks and his phone in your hand. He hadn't even realized he'd left it behind, so eager to meet up with the other woman in his contacts.
You'd packed all of his stuff, told him to get out, and he'd immediately started crying. You'd never seen him so devastated, kneeling at your feet to beg you forgiveness until you slapped him and shoved him back by the shoulders. He sat on the floor, stunned at your boldness to yell in his face that he was a liar - a cheater - and that he never loved you.
He'd sniffled, moving to get up and grab the bags you'd packed for him so he could leave. He stands in shame as he waits by your door while you seethe on the couch, silent, calling his new hookup to come get him. He couldn't call any of the members - they couldn't know about this. Not yet. The shame was eating him way.
Han - He cheats while on tour
He's in the USA when he texts you that he needs to break up. It's enough to break your heart, have you sobbing on the phone as you ask him over voice memo why he needs to break up with you now of all times. He was two weeks from being home in your arms - why now??
He'd chalked it up to just feeling distant, feeling as though you were neglecting him and his needs a bit while he was away.
Jeongin later reveals to you over a phone call that Jisung had hooked up with multiple women while they were gone over the months. He sounds broken as he relays the information to you, apologizing as you sob into the phone and saying how you never deserved any of it.
You were more angry than anything that Jisung had broken up with you in an attempt to cover up his own wrong-doings while also saying it was your fault.
Oh, but the twitter post you made the following day was enough to be near career-ruining for Jisung. And it was damn well enough to have him crawling back to you, blowing up your phone and begging you to delete the post. But it was already far too late for him by then.
Felix - He doesn't cheat on you because he's the most perfect sunshine angel baby on earth (I'm running out of ideas)
Seungmin - He cheats on you with someone you know
Your best friend - Well, ex-best friend - was the woman Seungmin had his eyes on. Not you.
He'd dated you to get closer to her, using you as a pawn in his little game until he was close enough. He would curl up next to you in the mornings, whispering soft goodbyes as he left for work before returning home late after he'd spent the evening in her bed.
You'd found out through another close friend who she had let the information slip to. Sleeping with an idol - definitely something to brag about.
He'd knocked on your door for nearly half an hour before you answered, threatening to hit him with a frying pan if he didn't leave. He was filled with confusion until you hissed out that you knew what he was doing. His eyes widened, puppy-like and scared after realizing you'd found out about his little scheme.
"Everyone is right about you! You're a fucking snake, Seungmin. You use people, you're full of fucking lies and bullshit! Do us all a favor and never date anyone again, you piece of dogshit!"
I.N - He cheats on you with a trainee
It's hard to stomach when you see it. He was so young when he entered the idol scene - How was he even doing it? Hooking up with a nineteen year old-- A girl who had just appeared at the JYPE building a few months ago.
She was set to debut in a new girl group - a pretty thing, tall and slim with long hair and a cutesy style. The ideal young woman for a girl group. And apparently he'd enjoyed her, too.
He isn't aware of your presence until you're stomping up behind him and shoving him by the shoulders, stumbling away to turn to you. He stops, breathing hitched and arm still around the girl's waist as she stands stunned.
You'd bit at him, yelling how he was full of shit when he'd said he'd never understand why 'I Like It' was a good song, how he'd never be able to imagine hooking up with people with no romantic intentions.
"You want to be with her then, right? You want to date her? If you really don't believe in just hooking up for fun, that must be the explanation."
He stutters, stumbling over his words as his eyes avert. "W-- ... Well..."
Your chest raised as you took in a breath, wanting to slap the man for his actions. Instead, you'd turned to leave, bumping into a very oblivious Chan on your way out. He'd stopped, asking what was wrong, before turning to peer over at Jeongin and the girl standing there, shame filling the two of them.
"Oh, mate..."

You don’t deserve him
Warnings: mentions of abuse, bruises, small moment of jj smoking a j, strong language, Routledge reader :3
Summary: you’ve had it with Luke tossing JJ around, and finally decide to say something when you know JJ won’t.
Tumblr media
He knocked on the door to the chateau rapidly, you and your brother glanced at each other before you stood up. Your dog barked at the door.
“Jesus, Jesus, I’m goin’ junior.” You mumbled to him. You went over to the door, cracking it open.
You saw JJ through the small crack, soaked by the pouring rain outside, bloodied and bruised. You opened the door more, your face falling and your mouth agape as you stared at him.
“Jj…”
“Hey, baby.” He sighed in relief, his hand going to your cheek as he leaned in. You gave him a quick kiss, before pushing him away and looking at his face.
“Jesus, dude. Are you good?” John B asked from behind you on the couch, JJ stepping inside as you backed up. You swallowed the lump in your throat, watching as JJ stared at you and your brother.
“I’m fine. Can I uh… stay again? I’m sorry-“
“Course, man.” John B nodded, cutting him off.
“C’mon.” You told him quietly, Jj trailed behind you silently, already knowing the routine. You grabbed the first aid kit, wrapped some toilet paper around your hand and put it underneath the faucet, cleaning the blood off his face.
He silently watched you, his leg bouncing up and down nervously. You could feel your own tears about to fall, you had to stop yourself for a moment, looking down while Jj furrowed his eyebrows.
“Hey, hey, hey,” he said, hand going to reach your cheek, forcing you to look up at him. “what’s wrong?” He asked you, concerned. He watched tears fall down your face.
“I hate him so much.” You cried out, he was confused.
“Who- what happened? What’s wrong?”
“Your dad. He- he treats you like this all the time and he gets away with it. I can’t stand it.” You shook your head. “I hate it. Y- you did nothing to deserve this shit, JJ. I hate that you have to stay here because you don’t feel safe at home.”
“Y/n. I told you,” he mumbled, tilting his head as he stared at you, tears forming in his own eyes, but he wiped them with the back of his hand. “You don’t gotta worry ‘bout me. You dot gotta worry about any of that. I told you that.”
“But I do, Jj. I worry about you every day.”
He smiled softly at your words, and he wrapped his arms around you, you hugged him back, squeezing him as if he would be gone if you let go.
“Alright- alright-“ he wheezed out after a little, patting your back. “You’re killing me here, babe.”
You released him from the hug, mumbling a sorry and wiping your tears away.
“You’re so sweet, you know that?” He told you, leaning down to you, watching you smile again. His hand reached out for your cheek, wiping away the remaining tears on your face.
“Hey, how ‘bout I go freshen up and I’ll meet you in your room?” He asked you as you reached back for the kit, grabbing a few bandages and putting them on his face.
You nodded slowly. He smiled again, lightly tapping your cheek with his hand as he stood up, you standing as well, putting everything in the medicine cabinet again, leaving him to go take a shower.
————
The next morning, you were taking out your dog through the neighborhood. JJ and John B were out on a surfing trip for a while.
You walked with your headphones in through the cut and then downtown, watching your dog pad along the sidewalk happily, her tongue hanging out. You smiled softly, and looked back up.
It was then that you noticed him. JJs dad, out and about downtown. What the hell was he doing here?
You furrowed your eyebrows, taking your headphones off and walking closer.
He turned around, his face falling into one as shock as he noticed you.
“Y/n?” He knew you for years, before you dated JJ. You came by often, you knew about his home life before even your brother did.
“Luke.” You replied, giving him nothing but a small nod and a hint of a snarl.
“How’ve you been? Haven’t seen you in a while.”
“Fine.” You simply said, the air was thick with tension.
“Did uh.. JJ go over to yours?” He asked, with a small scoff after.
“So what if he did?” You snapped back, his eyes widening.
“He’s- he’s my kid. Think I have the right to know where he is. Even though I got no fuckin clue half the time-“ he laughed out, but your face remained straight. “I mean, seriously, kid.”
“Don’t… fucking call me that. And don’t even speak about him.” You got closer to the man, your dog confused as he stood still at your side.
“Hey, was jus’ saying.” He held his hands up in defense, a wicked smile on his face. “Boy, he really got you on his leash, huh? Y/n, you just gonna be like every other girl, thrown out the door the second he’s bored. He’s a fuckin’ little girl.”
“I don’t know who you think you are, talking about me and him like that. But I swear to God, Luke, step foot near the Chateau, step foot near him, I’m shooting your ass on sight. What did he even do to you? Huh?”
“Oh, so he is at your house.”
“Jesus- you are a sorry fucking excuse for a father. You know that?” You were now poking your finger into his chest, even closer. “You are a prick, you are an asshole, you are… vermin on this fuckin’ earth.” You spat.
He seemed amused by your words. “Strong words for a little girl like yourself.”
“You’ll never deserve that boy. You’ll never deserve him.” You mumbled, stepping away from him and continuing your walk, sighing as you walked away, tugging your dogs leash gently.
What you didn’t know, is that your words did have an effect on him. He watched as you walked away, your every word sinking into his chest, his heart.
Your phone lit up in your pocket with a notification. You picked up it, looking at the text.
JJ <3
wya?? we came back to the chateau and you’re not here )::
You smiled at the text, quickly responding.
walking JJ junior, we’re downtown rn :3. You told him, sending a little picture attached of your dog on his leash.
JJ <3
aww, when u guys r back i gotta bucket of ice cream and a whole thing of peanut butter for jj junior there
Your smile widened, texting him back with a little heart emoji and turning your phone off, walking back to the chateau, but taking another route so you wouldn’t run into Luke again.
When you got back, he sat on the porch with a joint lazily hanging in his fingers.
He was scrolling through his phone when he heard junior bark at him, you let go of the leash and watched the dog go up to Jj, clawing at his legs and barking out of happiness.
“Hey, buddy!” JJ spoke to him, petting behind his ears and ruffling his fur, you smiled at the sweet sight. “You have fun with your mama? Yeah?” He asked, dog barking again.
“And hello to you too.” He told you when you came up, giving you a hug, despite junior getting in the way of you both.
“How was your walk?” He mumbled when he leaned in to kiss you on the cheek, you thought back to Luke and smiled.
“It was good, actually.” You nodded, bending down to pick up juniors leash, tugging on it and opening the door to the Chateau.
JJ sat down again on your porch, taking a drag of the joint and exhaling. You sat next to him, he offered you it but you just shook your head.
Your eyes raked over his body, he didn’t have a shirt on and his swim trunks were still on.
They raked over his abs, his eyes looked up at you, attentive to what you were looking at.
They raked over his bruises, you swallowing and looking away when you felt the tears pushing through your waterline again. You sniffled and JJ sighed, already knowing what you were upset about.
“You don’t gotta worry about it. I tell you that every time. I’m here now, it’s over, it’s whatever.” He shrugged it off.
“It’s not whatever.”
“Y/n, I’ve lived with it my whole life. This ain’t even that bad.”
“I hate when you do that.” You muttered, turning back to JJ. He stared at you, sighing.
“Do what?”
“Play it off like it’s nothing- I mean i know you don’t wanna talk about it, and I’m not asking you to. But JJ, this isn’t nothing. I… I hate seeing you hurt. And I hate seeing you act like you’re okay.
“I know you do baby. But I am okay. I’m okay.” He repeated. “I don’t want you worrying about it.”
You shook your head again, feeling the tears go down your face. You wrapped your arms around JJ, he frowned and just hugged you back.
“I know you always worry anyways. But I love you, and I don’t wanna hurt you. Like at all. That’s it.” He mumbled against your shirt, he sighed when you pulled apart, and took it upon himself to lay his head on your lap.
You both stared out at into the night, you raking your hands through his hair.
“Will you stay here? Like… forever?” You sniffled after a while, looking down at him.
“Thought you’d never ask.” He said with a smirk, turning to look at you now.
“JJ, you seen my-“ John B’s sentence stopped when he turned to look at the both of you. You both looked at him like deers in headlights.
“Oh God, think I’m gonna vomit now. Anyways, you seen the peanut butter you bought? I was trying to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich but there’s none left.”
You looked at JJ, who looked at you with a wide smile. You both turned back to John B, you shrugged.
“Oh, I know that look.” He mumbled, going back into the Chateau.
“Junior!” You both heard from inside, both of you giggling as you heard your brother scold your dog.
“Goddamnit- there’s peanut butter all over my clean clothes! Get, get outta here.”

Puzzle Pieces Ch.3
(Mafia!Miguel x Shy!Reader)
Ch.1, Ch.2
Warning: Eventual Smut so Minors DNI, mentions of abuse, blood, murder, language, fluff, bullying, mentions of sex
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
It was another rough day at work for you. The only ray of sunshine you had all day was the scary, Miguel O'Hara, actually talking to you. He was so good looking that it made your heart flutter. You knew he was bad news, but you were desperate for anything to make you happy these days.
Stepping out of the supermarket with a small bag of groceries, you sighed as it started to pour. You had an umbrella, but someone stole it right before you clocked out. It wasn't too far of a walk, but you were still going to get soaked.
Taking a few deep breathes, you decided to make a run for it. Your place wasn't too far away. The rain could stop at any moment. It was fine! Yelping, you whimpered as you slipped and fell into a puddle on the sidewalk. Your groceries falling everywhere.
"N-No," You whimpered, trembling as you picked everything up alone.
Tears rolled down your cheeks as you kept whispering that you were fine. You were tired of this life already. You flinched as a foot appeared beside your canned corn. You glanced up, shaking as Miguel stood before you, holding an umbrella out.
"Need a lift?"
-----------
A few minutes prior, Miguel was sitting in the back seat of his chair, listening to Lyla over his phone. She was repeating his schedule out to him for his official job. Miguel groaned lowly, not wanting to have to deal with any of Alchmax's partners.
Hearing the rain, Miguel glanced out his window. He noticed you standing in front of the supermarket, staring at the rain before making a run for it. He told his driver to slow down, wanting to watch you a bit longer while Lyla kept talking.
His eyes widen slightly as you fell. Miguel told his driver to stop and hung up with Lyla. Looks like his little bunny needed saving. This wasn't something new, but you weren't like other girls. You weren't going to throw yourself onto him like the others.
Miguel smiled casually as he grabbed an umbrella and approached you. He stopped and held the umbrella over you, watching those tears stream down your cheeks. You were so fragile. All the more delicious to break in bed.
"Need a lift?" He offered, observing the shape of your body through your soaked clothes.
"U-Um..." Your lips began to tremble as you finished picking up the last of your dented groceries, "I-I don't w-want to be a b-bother. I-I appreciate the...the offer...but..." You kept avoiding his gaze, still crying.
Miguel was adoring this new treat. How easy you were to approach. No girl would hesitate to get in a car with him, yet here you were. A shy little bunny afraid of the big bad wolf. Miguel was enjoying this game. He reached out and easily wiped a tear from your eye,
"I wouldn't have asked if I thought you were a burden. My car is over there, I'll take you straight home." Miguel offered once more.
"A-Are you-" You stopped, seeing him get slightly annoyed, "T-Thank you, sir. S-Sorry again...for burdening you," You apologized again.
Miguel felt a rise as you called him, 'sir'. How nicely it rolled off your tongue. Miguel kept his eyes on you as his driver opened the door for the both of you. Your groceries going in the truck. Miguel sat beside you, having the heat turn up since you were shivering.
"Where do you live?" Miguel asked. You flinched,
"R-Right! S-Sorry!" You stuttered and told the driver your address.
Miguel leaned back in his seat, watching you put your seatbelt on. He nearly scoffed at the sight, finding you hilarious. You kept playing with your fingers, apologizing for everything. Hell, at this rate, Miguel was going to have to apologize to you for fucking you later.
"You're very naïve," Miguel said bluntly, causing you to flinch, "Never enter another person's vehicle. You're lucky that it was me, conejita. (bunny)" He warned.
"I'm sorry,"
"You wouldn't want your boyfriend to worry," Miguel glanced at your reaction, wanting to see if his prey was taken or not.
Not that it mattered.
"I-I don't have one...E-Even if I-I...I did, he...he wouldn't care." You said sadly, recalling how many times Eddie left you to fend for yourself.
Miguel noticed the small things about you. You were gripping your sleeves tightly while your body shook, not from the cold, but from mentioning your ex. Your cheeks started to burn as tears threaten to spill. This was not an easy topic for you.
"So, single and living alone in the big city? Haces esto demasiado fácil. (You make this too easy)" He hummed.
You glanced over at Miguel, admiring him. You knew better than to enter a stranger's car, even if he was a regular. Honestly, at this point you didn't care. Maybe it was for the best if someone took you away. Pinching yourself at the thought, you decided to keep the conversation going. To distract yourself.
"I...I had to leave...I-I thought I'd be...I'd be able to s-survive here. But...I guess I can't."
"You just need some help," Miguel noticed the area they were driving into, "You live here?"
"I-It's all I could...a-afford." You stuttered before sneezing.
You whined softly as you kept sneezing. Sometimes you had these spirts. Once you finished you saw Miguel's hand getting closer to you. Recalling times where Eddie would hit you to be quiet, you flinched and covered your head.
Miguel withdrew his hand as he noticed your reaction. He furrowed his brows before the car came to a stop. He knew that reaction all too well. Glancing at the shady apartment building, Miguel got out of the car and opened the door for you,
"I'm not going to hit you," He said and helped you out, "Let me walk you upstairs."
"Sir, this is-"
"I know where we are." Miguel hissed lowly and followed behind you, "Wait for me down here and don't make contact with anyone."
---------
You were shaking as you tried to open your door. Miguel was right behind you with your groceries. You felt embarrassed for reacting the way you did. All he was doing was helping you. Once you were finally inside, you quickly gave him a glass of water before rushing to change.
Miguel took this opportunity to look around your shabby apartment. You were grabbing his attention faster than anyone else. Miguel was starting to want you for himself. A cute little trophy to have in his room.
"S-Sorry I took s-so long," You stuttered, coming out in all long sleeves again. Miguel felt his eye twitch,
"No need to apologize. As you know I do more than just shop at your work." Miguel watched you carefully, "I'll get to the chase. You're new to this city and I've taken an interest in you."
"H-Huh?! Y-You h-have...but...but..." You sat down, covering your lower face with your sleeve, "I-I'm n-nothing...s-special."
"Estás seguro de que te hizo un número. (You're ex sure did a number on you.)" Miguel muttered and approached you once more, "Allow me to get to know you before you make such assumptions."
"Mhm," You looked away from him, sinking into your seat.
You weren't sure if you ready to see anyone, but this would be a good way to distract you. Miguel did seem kind to you at least. Biting your lower lip, you had to remind yourself about Eddie. He was kind to you at first too. You needed to have faith in people. Glancing back at Miguel, you gulped,
"O-Okay, I-I'll g-give you a chance."
Miguel just grabbed your free hand in response and kissed it. He smiled towards your flustered reaction and made his way out. You followed him, waving him goodbye before closing the door. You bit your lower lip and sat against your door.
"P-Please...be g-good to me."
---------
Miguel sat in his car, listening to Lyla lecture him. He had his arms crossed as he glanced at where you sat prior. He wanted to know more. Especially about what you've been through. Miguel wasn't going to have his new prey already broken.
"Lyla, I want you to gather as much information on (Y/N). I want to know what egg shells I need to avoid."

Stepping off the bus, you were immediately hit with the onslaught of rain heavily beating down on you from above. Ducking your head, you dashed across the sidewalk towards the nearest overhang for temporary shelter. As you darted towards the bodega, your dress shoes splashed water up onto your slacks as you ran through puddle after puddle.
Breath coming in hard once you'd reached the brief refuge, you took a moment to collect yourself. The rain continued to fall past the overhang, loudly pelting the sidewalk all around you. The handful of passersby toting umbrellas had you instantly wishing you'd grabbed yours before leaving your apartment for work today. But you’d foolishly forgotten to check the weather this morning.
Leaning up against one of the shop’s windows behind you, you heard the crack of thunder far off in the distance. A shiver ran through you, the chilled fabric of your drenched clothing clinging to your skin. Wiping a hand across your wet forehead, you let out a quiet groan as the weight of your predicament hit you.
What a horrible day this had turned out to be.
While you’d been on the city bus making your way home from the office, a storm had rolled in and a downpour had begun. Now standing here and looking out at the large puddles forming along the sidewalks and in the streets, you realized you had a long walk just past the outskirts of Hell's Kitchen and back to your apartment in this mess. All because you'd accidentally missed your actual bus stop, having been too distracted thinking about the reprimand you'd gotten from your boss just before you'd left work today.
Glancing down at your purse, you began to unzip the main compartment before reaching a hand inside. You pulled out your cell phone, your finger desperately holding down the power button as your eyes stared at the black screen and willed it to turn on. Except you knew it wouldn't because the battery had long since died. You hadn't properly plugged it into the charger when you'd gone to sleep last night, so by the time you'd gotten to work this morning and realized the battery was quite low, it had been too late to do anything about it. Your phone had tragically died in your purse some time before lunch.
Though realistically it didn’t matter that your phone was dead. It wasn’t like you could have afforded using one of your apps to set up a ride home even if your phone was working. Because unfortunately for you, you'd had the misfortune of falling ill two weeks ago and the unexpected doctor's bill along with the medication you’d needed had wiped out your measly extra bit of emergency cash.
“Goddammit,” you whispered.
Tears building in your eyes, you watched the rain continue to pour down around you as your chest steadily grew tighter and tighter from the stress of the day. The last thing you felt like doing this evening was spending a half an hour walking home in a storm, but you couldn't just stand here waiting beneath the shop’s overhang for it to end, either. You didn't exactly have a choice.
With a sharp exhale, you reluctantly accepted your fate. Pushing away from the window, you grudgingly stepped out from beneath the safety of your covering and straight into the downpour. You willed your legs to move at a speed faster than your usual pace as the rain once more drenched you. Though despite your increased pace, you certainly weren't tempted to run home because you knew it wouldn’t have mattered anyway–you were already soaked to the bone in a matter of seconds.
Ducking your head to avoid the rain drops from further attempting to blind you, you made your way down the sidewalk. Jaw set firmly, you couldn’t help but internally chastise yourself for having missed your stop before internally berating yourself for forgetting to at least grab the small umbrella you usually kept in your purse. You hadn't put it back after the last rainy day when you’d left it out to dry by your front door.
You’d only managed to make it two blocks while silently fuming to yourself and steadily growing colder in your drenched work clothes before you’d finally become completely overwhelmed. Once more you felt the tears threatening to fall as they welled in your eyes, steadily blurring your vision. This time you didn't think you could hold them back. Gritting your teeth, you rushed towards the nearest overhang on a building up ahead before turning your back to the sidewalk, not wanting the rest of the city to see you publicly breakdown. Burying your face in your hands, you let yourself finally cry.
It felt like things had not been going well for you for a while now–for years if you were being honest–and it felt like today had been the culmination of it all. Your job was awful and barely paid your bills. You hardly had any free time to spend with your friends anymore, and your dating life had only increasingly grown more depressing and lackluster. The apartment you'd once loved you had eventually grown to hate because it held the ghost of Matt everywhere you looked–at your kitchen table, on your couch, in your bed, beneath the spray of your shower.
You should have never come to the city. You should have gone anywhere else instead of giving into your dreams of some brilliant, happy life out here. Some fantastic life full of excitement and love. Because that wasn't the reality of your life in Hell’s Kitchen. Not anymore.
The tears continued to stream down your cheeks, your face still buried against your palms. Biting your bottom lip, you at least attempted to keep your sobs to a volume softer than the rain heavily falling around you and the distant rumbling of thunder. You felt pathetic standing here on the sidewalk crying in a storm in the middle of Hell’s Kitchen.
The sound of your name being called suddenly registered in your ears between your quiet sobs. Your body tensed instantly; you hadn't anticipated anyone approaching you out here let alone someone who apparently knew your name. But when they said your name again, the voice coming from just behind you this time, you knew exactly who had spoken.
Hunching further in on yourself, you felt your heart drop to the ground by your soaked feet. As if your bad day needed to get any worse, now it had. He was the absolute last person you wanted to see right now, the one who haunted your dreams most nights. Roughly wiping the heels of your hands over your eyes, you tried to dry your tears. Because of course if you were going to run into your ex, it had to be when you were embarrassingly at your lowest. Trying to brace yourself for whatever this encounter would do to your already battered heart, you swallowed the lump forming in your throat before cautiously turning around.
If you thought you'd been prepared to see Matt standing there soaked from the storm, you were certainly wrong. The sight of him in his fitted suit with his hair a damp, dark mess clinging to his forehead hit you like a tidal wave. Beads of rain were sliding down his cheeks, just past his red glasses. The corners of his lips were downturned among a darker scruff of beard than you ever recalled him having back when you’d both been together. Both of his hands were squeezing his cane tight between his fists, his dark dress pants wet and clinging to his thighs that had grown far thicker over the years.
With trembling lips, your eyes slowly traveled back up to his face, once more meeting the harsh crimson of his lenses. Teeth clamping down harder on your bottom lip, you fought back the sob threatening to spill forth as more hot tears slid down your cheeks. A sharp pain twisted in your chest, right where your heart resided. He’d grown more handsome with age, though that shouldn’t have remotely come as a surprise to you. He'd always been beautiful.
“What–what are you doing here?” he whispered, his dark brows sinking beneath his glasses. “Is something wrong?”
Your own brows dipped together in confusion before you finally looked around you, taking in your surroundings. It didn’t take long for you to realize where you’d accidentally ended up. Turning your head over your shoulder, you spotted the address on the familiar-looking building. It was Matt’s apartment building. Eyelids slowly lowering, you exhaled a sharp, frustrated breath.
“Are you in trouble?” he asked again, concerned. “Did…you need help?”
How utterly embarrassing this whole situation had become. He thought you’d come here on purpose . For his help as Daredevil most likely. Wincing, you slowly returned your attention to his beautiful, worried face. That sharp pain seared straight through you at the sight of him.
“No,” you whispered, an embarrassed heat burning up your neck. “I didn’t realize exactly where I was.”
Matt’s head tilted curiously to the side, his eyebrows still furrowed in confusion. “What do you mean?” he asked. “You didn’t come here intentionally? You weren’t looking for me?”
Wincing once more, your eyes dropped down to your wet dress flats as you shook your head. Why couldn’t you have paid more attention to where you were going? Hell’s Kitchen was such a small area and it wasn’t like Matt would have ever left it. You should have been navigating your way home better in the rain so that you wouldn’t end up crying in front of his apartment building.
“No,” you awkwardly admitted. “I was distracted on the bus. Got off on the wrong stop. I wasn’t exactly paying attention to where I was in the storm, I was just trying to get back home.”
Out of the corner of your eye, you saw Matt’s shoulders visibly drop at the information. Not entirely sure what to make of that, you kept your gaze averted as a chill ran up your spine. Your wet clothes certainly were not helping this situation.
“Oh,” he breathed out. “I’m sorry. I thought I recognized it was you standing here and I thought that you…nevermind.”
“No, it’s my fault,” you muttered, shaking your head. “Sorry. I–I didn’t mean to bother you by showing up like this. It was entirely an accident.”
An uncomfortable silence fell between the pair of you, that nauseating feeling you remembered from the night when he’d ended things with you years ago rising to the surface and uncoiling in your stomach. After this unexpected encounter, you knew you’d be trying and failing to move on from him all over again.
“I’m just–just going to go,” you stammered. “I should get back home anyway.”
Gripping your purse straps like a lifeline, you turned in the direction back towards your apartment. Though you’d taken two more steps before Matt called your name over the roar of thunder. You paused, eyes falling shut at the sound of his cane tapping along the sidewalk as you kept your back to him.
“You can’t possibly walk home in this,” he stated. “It’s not safe.”
“I don’t exactly have a choice. My phone’s dead and I don’t have money for a cab anyway,” you confessed awkwardly. “Faster to walk home than anything else at this point.”
You could feel his presence just behind you before you even heard his voice, the hair on the back of your neck prickling at his proximity. Your heart was beating in an agonizing rhythm in your chest with him so near after years of you both being apart. It had been so long since you’d last seen him, since you’d last heard his voice. Every second of this was sheer torture.
“I’ll call you a car,” he offered. “I can pay for it. I can’t have you walk home in this. How much do you need?”
“No, Matt,” you declined, sharply shaking your head.
Turning back towards him, you were surprised to see he’d already pulled his wallet out of his dress pants, his fingers running over the differently folded bills. A surge of emotion welled up within you at the sight, the feeling becoming almost too much to bear as the tears pricked at your eyes again. He never had much but he was always eager and willing to try and help everyone he could. One of the many things you'd always loved about him.
“I’m not taking your money,” you told him, fighting the tremor in your voice. “It’s fine. I’ll be fine.”
“Well I can’t let you walk home in this,” he stated again. “I won’t let you.”
A small, sad smile tugged at your lips as you watched a frown form along his own. As a few tears once more snuck their way from the corners of your eyes and burned warm trails down your cheeks, you saw Matt’s hand grip his wallet tighter in his fist.
“What’re you going to do, Matty?” you whispered. “Hold me here against my will?”
His lips thinned out along his face, his dark brows once more pulling together. Ever so subtly you saw him shake his head. With the sad smile still on your face, you nodded slowly.
“Yeah, exactly,” you murmured. “I need to head back home now before this storm gets worse. Goodbye, Matthew.”
Feeling your heart break for a second time, you turned around and stepped out from beneath the overhang on his building and back into the downpour of rain. Ducking your head, you continued down the sidewalk, not even bothering to wipe the tears from your face as they mingled with the drops of rain racing down your cheeks.
What a horrible day this had turned out to be.
Biting down sharply on your lip, you tried hard to muffle a sob now that Matt was here. But as your heart brokenly beat in your chest, you knew you couldn't hide a damn thing from him behind you. You never could.
As you took another step forward, something caught your elbow and tugged you backwards. Stumbling in a half turn, your right foot splashed into yet another puddle as you came face to face with Matt. His eyebrows were still tightly knit together, partially lowered beneath his lenses. His mouth was twisted in uncertainty as you stared back at him, your breath catching in your throat.
“Come up to my apartment,” he offered quietly, releasing your elbow. “You can get out of this storm and I can dry your clothes while you warm up in some blankets.”
Shaking your head slightly at his offer, you knew you'd never be able to accept it. This brief encounter was already painful enough, you didn't want to prolong it any further.
“No, Matt, I can't just–”
“Please,” he pleaded, cutting you off. “Please just come up.”
You stood there with your lips parted in surprise at the earnestness in his voice. Droplets of rain continued to travel down his cheeks, and you saw one bead of water currently clinging to the tip of his nose, mere moments from falling.
“Matt, I can't,” you repeated.
“Why?” he demanded, taking another step towards you. “Tell me. Tell me why you can't come up with me.”
You grimaced, your heart clenching tight in your chest as he continued to drag out this encounter. Tears continued to spill forth from your eyes as you stared back at the desperate expression now spread across his handsome face.
“Why are you doing this, Matt?” you whispered. “Can't you tell how much this is killing me right now? Just standing here talking to you? Now you need me to explain why I can’t just go up to your apartment, too? You really need me to–”
“Because it's killing me, too,” he confessed in a rush before you could finish.
For a second you swore your heart stopped beating at what he'd just admitted. Blinking the rain from your eyes, your mouth fell open in shock. You weren’t entirely sure what to make of that truth, but a part of you began to hope for something right then that you knew you probably shouldn’t.
“Wh–what?” you breathed out.
“I've thought about you,” Matt began, emotion thick in his words. “Over the years, I've thought about you. I can't–can't stop. I've tried, I really have. But I just…I sometimes feel like your presence is still there,” he continued, gesturing his head towards his apartment building behind him. “On occasion I can try to trick myself into thinking that you are–by ordering your favorite takeout or using that soap you always loved. The one with sage and citrus.”
A hesitant smile spread on Matt’s mouth, something melancholic in the way his lips had only marginally curved upwards. Swallowing the lump that had started to form in the back of your throat, another chill raced up your spine as you stood there in your soaked clothes. Wrapping your arms around yourself, you fought down the shiver that was beginning to lightly run through you.
You’d quite literally often dreamt of this moment with Matt. You'd often hoped that one day you’d run into him again somewhere and he would apologize, tell you that he still thought about you. That he still wanted you. But now that he was saying things you’d always wanted to hear, you didn’t quite know how to react. This moment still felt like one of your many dreams.
“It never works for long, though,” he continued softly, voice just louder than the rain. “Because the scent always fades too fast. And I can’t fake the sound of your heartbeat. I can’t–can’t recreate your scent on my bed sheets or the warmth of your body next to me when I’m trying to fall asleep at night.”
You closed your eyes, pressing your trembling lips together as you tried to staunch the flow of tears. You couldn’t believe what he was telling you. A few years ago he ended the relationship–a relationship that had been going so wonderfully well. Sure, there had been issues, but overall you two had fit so perfectly together and everything had just felt right. You’d talked about a future together–moving in, getting married, and whatever might come next. Until one day, seemingly out of nowhere, he’d just walked away from it all.
“Then why, Matt?” you whispered, opening your eyes and focusing back on him. With the tears filling your eyes, he’d grown a bit blurry standing there before you. “All those years ago, why did you end things? If you’ve been here all this time feeling exactly like I’ve been feeling for years then…what was the point?”
Matt ducked his head almost shamefully, one hand releasing his cane before rubbing it across his mouth. Nerves swirled in your stomach as another crack of thunder tore through the distance, the rumbling sound accentuating the pause that felt agonizingly long.
“Because I was scared,” he finally confessed, his attention seemingly fixed on the sidewalk–though you knew his senses were fixed on you. “I’d never quite felt how I did for you for anyone else before. One time I thought I did and she…left me. But it wasn’t just a fear of you leaving…”
Matt trailed off for a moment, growing silent as the rain continued to pour down. Your heart was in your throat as you waited for him to finish his thought.
“It was a fear of who I felt I was becoming when I was with you,” he finished softly. “Of what I thought I was losing.”
Eyes narrowing in confusion at Matt, you squeezed your arms tighter around your shivering body. “What do you mean?”
He raised his head, his rain speckled lenses focusing back on you. “We spent a lot of time together, remember? Specifically in the evenings? Before things ended?”
Gaze averting to the ground, you tried to recall the end of the relationship. He had in fact stayed in more frequently. You remembered sharing meals together after work and taking walks at the park. Scheduling date nights on the weekend and staying up late beneath the sheets. It hadn’t been every night, but he had significantly begun to spend more time with you just before he’d ended the whole thing–which had only added to your confusion at the time.
“Yeah,” you answered, glancing up at him from beneath your lashes. “I remember. But what does that have to do with anything?”
“I feared I was changing into someone else,” Matt answered slowly, taking a hesitant step towards you. “I thought I was losing the other half of myself in our relationship because I had begun to spend less time as Daredevil. So I–I pushed you away to try to prevent myself from fully losing myself. And I used that as an excuse to run from my fear of you leaving me.”
"T hat's what you meant by not being able to be yourself with me?” you asked, everything finally beginning to make sense. “Oh Matthew,” you breathed out, shaking your head. “You were never losing Daredevil. Not at all. You never once stopped helping the people who needed it. The nights someone was in danger or something was happening, you still put on the mask.”
Licking your lips as you paused, you could taste the salt of your tears among the droplets of rain. A flash of lightning streaked across the sky behind Matt, just above the tops of the buildings. Seconds later, another roar of thunder punctuated the silence.
“What I think you were doing was learning balance in your life,” you told him. “Learning to be both Matthew Murdock and the Devil.”
“I know,” Matt agreed gently, nodding his head. “But I realized that three years too late. And I'm–I'm so sorry for that.”
Swallowing hard, you felt your heart hammering beneath your arms still wrapped around your chest. “And I never wanted to leave you,” you added, voice cracking as you spoke. “You were my forever, Matty. I told you that.”
A muscle visibly jumped in his cheek, the corners of his mouth twitching as if he couldn't decide on a smile or a frown. Taking another hesitant step, Matt closed the gap between you both. Gazing back at his red lenses, you felt your breath begin to come in sharper now that he was right there .
Without warning his hand reached up, timidly coming to cup your cheek in his palm. As if on instinct, you leant back into his warm touch, the feel of it sending a shudder through you for a reason other than the contrast from the cold. His thumb softly swept outwards, gently brushing away a few teardrops from your cheek. You felt like you couldn't breathe as the pad of his thumb afterwards began to affectionately stroke a line along your cheekbone.
“Please come up,” he begged. “Let me help you.”
Eyes closing, you tried to focus on formulating a thought. But it was hard to think with him touching you, with him pleading for you to let him help you. Inhaling a breath, you'd been about to respond, but then you felt him lightly press his damp forehead to yours and your eyes flew open.
He was so close. His hot breath was falling against your lips as it left his own parted ones. The sensation was dizzying, making it hard to focus on almost anything else. Beneath the arms still tightly wrapped around your chest, you could feel your heart accelerating to a worrying speed.
“We can talk,” he told you. “About everything. I have more to apologize for, I know. I just–just want to fix the mess I made. If it's not too late.”
Exhaling a slow breath, you let his words wash over you like the rain itself, cleansing the years worth of pain that lingered in your heart. Gradually you nodded against his forehead, catching the way he sucked in a sharp breath at the little movement.
“Okay,” you whispered. “I'll come up.”
With the way your eyes had been fixed on his lips, you caught the faint smile that slipped onto his mouth the second it did. Something shot through you like a bolt of electricity at the sight of it. Matt's nose affectionately and timidly bumped yours, a small gesture that brought a rush of feelings straight to the surface along with a confession that bubbled right out of your mouth.
“I missed you,” you whispered. “So much.”
“I missed you, too, angel,” he murmured, thumb brushing away another tear along your cheek. “I've never stopped missing you.”
Matt shifted his head, his lips accidentally grazing yours as he did. A soft whine you had no control over snuck out of you, the sound drawing another sharp inhale from Matt as his nostrils flared. Your hands curled into fists against your body as he leaned in, just barely touching his lips to yours. Eyelids slowly falling shut once more at the feel of his breath washing over you, you sighed in frustration when his mouth still remained at a distance.
“ Matt .”
You breathed out his name like a plea, your fingernails digging into the palms of your hand. It was quickly becoming far too difficult not to touch him.
“Tell me you haven't thought about this, too,” Matt nearly demanded. “Tell me you don't want me. Just one ‘no’ and I won't–”
Losing control, your hands flew away from your sides and landed on Matt's soaked suit coat, balling the wet material in your fists. “Yes,” you answered him. “I'm telling you yes , Matthew.”
There was a moment, a brief one, where Matt’s face hovered in the space just before yours. Your breath was coming in sharp and hard as you watched him, aware he was probably reading your body for whatever he needed to hear. You knew the exact moment he'd found what he was looking for because his expression shifted just before he launched himself forward at you.
Stumbling backwards into the wall of the building behind you at the force of Matt's enthusiasm, your eyes snapped shut the second his mouth was on yours. Hands snaking their way up his chest, you wrapped your arms around his neck and tangled your fingers in the damp strands of his hair. You pulled him flush to the front of yourself with a faint gasp, his soaked body deliciously heating the front of your freezing and drenched one.
Matt's hand on your cheek held you in place against the brick wall behind you, tilting your mouth to the exact angle for him to easily connect his lips to yours over and over in a heated passion. The pair of you struggled to catch your breath each time he pulled away, your gasping breaths loud in your own ears despite the storm still raging. His other hand landed on your hip, roughly grabbing it as he kissed you. You could feel the way it shook against you, as if he was struggling not to do more than just hold you there.
“I’m so sorry, angel,” he whispered against your lips.
His mouth was immediately back on yours, relentless in his determination to make you feel just how apologetic he was. Your own mouth was hungrily matching his pace, the rain forgotten as you tried to express the longing you'd been tormented by every single day since he'd left you.
Fingers gripping his hair, you took advantage of the seconds in between kisses. “Don’t you dare–” you broke off as his mouth slammed back onto yours again, “–break my heart again, Matthew,” you finished when he pulled back.
Matt paused at your words, breathing hard as he gazed back at you, the rain continuing to wash over the both of you. Nearly out of breath yourself, you couldn't help but admire how perfect he looked standing there completely soaked with his flushed cheeks and the small smile gracing his swollen lips.
“Never,” he promised. “I hate myself for ever hurting you like that. And it’ll never happen again, I promise you that. The pain of those last three years was torture. Punishment. And I promise we'll talk, angel, we will, but…”
His voice trailed off and your eyes darted back to his lips. The lips you missed, the lips that brought you comfort in a way nothing else ever had. In that moment you understood him completely.
“But not right now,” you agreed.
Yanking him back towards you with the hand still tangled in his hair, you swallowed the resulting soft growl of his down, kissing him with all the longing that you'd bottled inside for the past three years. Matt didn't hesitate to match your passion and enthusiasm as he pressed you further into the brick behind you, your back arching into him just as another rumble of thunder tore through the night.
What an unexpected day this had turned out to be.

“Thank you!” Chan yells behind him to the flower shop owner as he walks out, the small tinkle of the door chime making itself known despite the near midnight time. Chan checks his watch as he approaches his motorcycle that stands on the empty sidewalk: 11:38 PM.
He might be able to make it, swinging his leg over the seat as he thanks his luck that he was able to catch the last florist before she closed for the day. The owner sends him a smile as she begins her own trek to her car, lights out.
Revving his engine to life, he attempts to tuck the bouquet into his riding jacket, praying the delicate petals would hold up during the short ride to your place. His helmet is strapped on within seconds as he kicks up his stand to take off into the empty streets, making a beeline for your apartment. He stops at a red light, taking the chance to check his watch again: 11:47 PM.
“Fuck,” he curses under his breath, whipping his head around to check the ghostly empty streets of the intersection. He briefly wonders if he can afford a ticket when he sees the droplets fall on his gloved hands.
“No. No, no, no, come on!” The light turned green as the rain began to thunder down onto his helmet, seeping through the collar of his jacket and trickling down his skin. He pushes away a shudder, trying not to shiver in the now even colder November night, wanting nothing more than to get to your place as quickly as possible.
The rain grows nothing but stronger as he finds himself needing to wipe his shield every few seconds, his desperation increasing with the strong winds. By the time he’s kicking his stand and yanking his helmet off, the pour seems to have slowed itself to a drizzle, something he thinks he would’ve appreciated just a few minutes ago. In the few seconds it took him to kill the engine and inspect his flowers, the slow droplets infiltrated his hair, too.
The flowers are soaked, Chan finds out soon enough as he inspects the droplets that have collected on the short petals of the red dahlias he’s picked out. He dumps the bouquet upside down to pour out the accumulated water onto the pavement, watching the amount of liquid that continues to spill out.
So much for the flowers holding up.
“I think you need some flowers for your water,” Chan flicks his sopping wet hair off his forehead to look up at the sound of your voice, eyes meeting your delighted face over your low window.
He glances back down at the water-specked flowers, and hears a ghost of a chuckle escape him. Chan realizes in the moment how frazzled he looks, dripping wet with a thing of dejected flowers in his grip.
You’re still smiling at the sight, “Come up before the hypothermia sets in, idiot.”
He’s quick to oblige, bounding inside despite the droplets he leaves in his wake, checking his watch in a glance: 11:58 PM. You’re quick to open the door for him just as he reaches your place on the first floor, folds upon folds of bath towels in your arms.
“You look like a wet dog,” you snort, laying down a towel for him to step inside on.
“Wait!” he yells, and you freeze in your crouched spot. You’re slow to come back up, watching him stare intently at his watch.
11:59 PM… 12:00 AM.
His face breaks out into a big smile, causing you to mimic his elated expression. He grabs your limp hand and thrusts the bouquet into your hands.
“Happy birthday, babe.”
You can’t help but huff out a little laugh. The sight of dripping hair, sodden socks on a towel, his hand that pushes the flowers into your own, all complete with a stupidly accomplished look on his face.
You push forward, flowers in hand, as you wrap your arms around his neck in a tight embrace. Pushing your chest into his, you leave no room between what your clothing would allow. It’s wet. Really wet. You can feel your shirt grow warm under the retention, but you pay no mind as you continue clinging to him with all you have.
“Thank you, Chan.” He can hear the elation in your voice, and it’s enough to make it all worth it. He hugs you back, cautious at first, but relents when he realizes you don’t care about coming out of the hug as soaked as him. It isn’t until you feel the unnatural cold of the tip of his nose kiss your neck that you realize he’s probably freezing. So you pull away, albeit reluctantly.
He keeps his hands on your hips as you continue, “Let’s get you dried up first.”
Thus, a freshly washed and clothed Chan exits the bathroom, finding you in the kitchen huddled over the island. It isn’t until he’s engulfed you completely from behind, arms coming to pull you into his bare chest, that he sees what you’re doing. The crimson flowers had been tended to, placed into a pretty vase as you fiddle with the petals to spread them into a pleasing arrangement.
“It’s freezing, Chan, put a shirt on!” you gasp as you turn around to realize your boyfriend is sporting nothing but trousers and a towel around his neck.
“In a minute,” he mumbles as he drops his forehead to your shoulder.
Running your fingers through his wet hair, you attempt to comb them out. “Why didn’t you stop when it started raining? You catch colds so easily.”
“I was running late, and the flower shop fucked my order. It was my fault. Spent ages trying to find one open that had these ones.”
“You still could’ve stopped.”
“And miss being the first to say happy birthday? Fat chance.”
You sigh as you give in to him. “Thank you. For testing your immune system for me.”
He snorts at the comment, coming back up to face you, forearms resting on the counter as he pushes your body against the edge. He glances at the flowers briefly.
“This wasn’t the end of it. We still have another twenty-four hours to go,” he murmurs. “The rest of the surprises will be less chaotic, I promise.”
“It’s not you if there’s no chaos,” you comment with an undertone. “I’ll like anything you give me, no matter how chaotic or calmly you deliver it.”
He hums for a moment, and you sense the mischief coming from a mile away. The half-serious warning leaves you before you can help it, “Don’t make me eat my words.”
He barks out a laugh at that, coming in to capture your frown in a momentary kiss, giving you one peck after another. You stand in each other’s arms for a long while, barefoot in the kitchen, as you talk about your plans for when the sun eventually comes up. Most of which Chan refused to relay to you anyway, so you were really just making guesses.
His drying hair doesn’t leave your fingers throughout, combing through the strands as you massage his scalp along the way. He melts under the touch, moving the towel around his shoulder way so you can rest your arms on him. He falters slightly at the feeling as he continues to talk.
You can’t help but notice the wonders the kitchen light seems to be doing for him, the blue-ish glaze illuminating the highs of his face and hair, the glowing lines moving past his neck to his shoulders, and undoubtedly casting the rest of the ridges of his body aglow — you aren’t sure if you can handle finding out if you gaze any lower. The little you can see of his eyes past the flop of hair that covers them is sparkling in the low light.
Chan doesn’t stop you as you slot your mouth against his, taking the way the light illuminated his lips as a sign. He’s equally as quick to reciprocate, moving his mouth against yours, almost more eager than you. His hands have left their place on the counter and move to grip your hips instead, pushing your lower half against him with a force that has you breaking away from his lips.
He doesn’t stop, moving his mouth down to leave his own open-mouthed kisses on your jaw as you grip his bare bicep, a content sigh leaving your lips.
“Have a really pretty thing waiting for you when you wake up,” he whispers delicately in your ear, placing a kiss on your earlobe. “The nice satin thing you’ve been eyeing for a while.”
Your breath stops short in your chest, the thought of the pretty piece of lingerie you briefly mentioned you liked a while ago.
“Chan,” you groan at the thought.
He continues to mumble with a slight chuckle, “Don’t know if that’s a present for me or you.”
His hands have migrated everywhere at this point, moving up to squeeze of your breasts in his hold, his other hand continuing to run over your ass and hips. It’s your own hands that drift past his abs to toy with the drawstrings of his pants when you begin to fall impatient, needing to feel him.
Feeling his hard-on through his underwear is easy, and you wonder how long he’s actually been horny with how defined you can already feel him to be. You watch as he grinds into your palm, groaning into your neck at the feeling. You continue your ministrations through his boxers till you feel him wrap his hand around your forearm to yank it out of his pants.
“I’m not fucking you on the kitchen counter,” he says, pulling you out of the blue fluorescent lights and into the hall to your bedroom.
It’s easier for him to discard your clothing with the space he’s given, yanking your shirt off to leave you in your barely-there sleeping shorts. Sparing no second, you watch him push off the soft plush of the mattress, moving away to get rid of his own clothing.
Chan’s lips meet yours once again as he hovers over you on the bed, continuing to feel up your sides as he shoves his tongue into your mouth, massaging it over your own as he continues to push you up the bed.
You arch your back, reaching behind you to unclasp your bra, only to find him beating you to it as he unhooks it, flinging the padding somewhere amongst the flown clothes on the floor. The cold hits your chest in a way that has you gasping, his hands immediately cupping over both your breasts before attaching his mouth to a nipple. His other hand toys with your other nipple, rolling the perked bud between his fingers before running his thumb over it repeatedly. It’s so easy to zero in on the feeling of his tongue gliding over the sensitive area, the contrast of his warm mouth, and the air that hits the glistening surface of your skin. You can’t help but hum, hands grazing over his own that pinch and press into your other nipple.
You realize soon enough that his knees are spread just wide enough for you to shove your own leg in between, bringing your knee up to grind it slowly against his crotch, feeling him through his underwear. The motion comes unprovoked, a vibrating groan escaping him as he cursed against your skin.
“Fuck, babe, you’re so impatient.”
Removing his mouth from your chest, he pushes your knee down in haste to give himself room to pull down your shorts, pushing your thighs apart when he’s done as he kneels back. His gaze wanders across your near-bare body, his thumb rubbing circles into your hip as he locks you in place. His eyes hover but choose to remain on the visibly darkened patch on your panties. You feel his fingers move slowly, ghosting over the insides of your thighs, moving ever so close to where you screamed for him.
Right as you’re about to say something out of growing frustration, he hooks his fingers under the waistband of the final obstruction, pulling them down your legs to expose yourself to him completely. His unprovoked compliance comes as a bit of a shock to you, but you assume he’s being nice for the sake of your birthday (not that you’re complaining – anything that gets him in your pants faster counts as an automatic win in your book)
You can feel him massage the skin of your thighs as he stares, making sure you keep your legs wide open for him. His gaze doesn’t wander, you find, locked in as he bites his bottom lip at the sight. His eyes hold a dangerous lace, one that you wish he’d unleash. He all but pushes your thighs even further to get a better look at your undoubtedly sopping wet cunt. It took a lot for you to not attempt to bring your knees together despite the embarrassment – you know he liked to look.
“Chan.” His name leaves your lips in a desperate attempt to get him to do something, anything. His lips all but lift into a curl of trouble.
“What is it, baby?”
“Please,”
“Please, what? I know it’s your birthday, princess, but I won’t know what you want if you won’t tell me.” His eyes graze over your contorted expression, urging you to say it. “Say it, my love.”
“Chan,” you whine. “Touch me. Please.”
His grin morphs into something downright diabolical as he taps your hips. “Get up, baby. On my lap.”
Chan pushes his back on the headboard as he invites you on his lap, your hips over his thighs as the rest of your body lays on the sheets.
It isn’t until then that he finally migrates his hand, placing his middle finger on your clit, spreading your lips apart with his pointer and ring finger. He grazes over it lightly as he moves down to your hole, feeling the pool of arousal that’s accumulated in the area. He gathers your arousal on his fingers, moving back up to pay attention to your clit.
“Fuck, you’re soaked,” Chan’s voice comes out hoarse, and it somehow has you gushing even further.
The angle gives him perfect access to work on your cunt as he likes, pushing your legs apart when you’d close them subconsciously. His fingers are merciless as they take turns circling over your nub before rubbing through them up and down. He places open mouthed kisses on your thigh, the one he holds open against his bare chest.
You’re writhing at the feeling, trying your best to not move in his hold too much as you let out the most desperate streams of moans, only encouraging him to keep going. Your hands grope everything in your shaken state: your breasts, his thigh, his arm that holds your legs apart – anything to keep you tied to the feeling.
Chan’s fingers slow before coming to a complete halt, wet fingers trailing up your thighs, leaving a trail of your arousal in their wake. He brings them back, fingers now lower as he traces a lone finger at your entrance. You feel yourself clench at the feeling.
“Fuck!” You clamp your hand over your mouth, the profanity leaving your mouth before you can stop it. Chan pushes that finger into your tight hole, clenching around the digit. He pumps in once before pushing in another.
“Uh-uh,” you hear him tut. Yanking your hand away from your mouth, leading it away. “Let me hear you.”
His statement has you letting out another groan, the sound of his voice adding to the pleasure you’re receiving at the mercy of his fingers. He continues to pump in and out, his other hand moving to continue circling over your clit.
Your back is arching off the sheets at this point, hands desperately gripping the sheets as you throw your head back. The feeling is building to a breaking point, your pants growing louder as your jaw falls slack.
The knot breaks, and it has you fluttering your eyes shut, your mind going completely blank as the only thing that consumed your being becomes Chan’s godly hands. Registering absolutely nothing is easy when he refuses to stop his fingers, letting you ride out your high as far as it would take you. He doesn’t stop, even while you're squirming in his hold from overstimulation.
“Ch-Chan, I can’t!” Your own hands attempt to grasp his arm, his wrists.
Your now blown out pupils catch a playful look on his face as he quit brushing his fingers on your spent cunt, letting you lay back for a breath. Your chest heaves as you attempt to come round from the feeling, vaguely registering Chan, setting your lower half off of his lap. He hovered above your frame, leaving pecks all over your face, neck, and chest, waiting for you to recover.
“Good?” he asks you with a smile once your breathing seemed to have evened out.
“Yeah,” you reply with a laugh, attempting to sit up from your position to kiss him. He lets you.
It isn’t until you’ve pushed him back on the headboard that he realizes what you’re trying to do. You’re legs that straddle him begin to wiggle lower as you detach from his lips, fiddling with the waistband of his boxers to pull them off. He obliges, letting you take the fabric off, watching you as you pump his hard length in your palms.
You doubt you’d ever get over the feeling of having him in your hands, the weight of him fitting into your palm like his dick was meant to fall straight into your hands. Chan is gracious in how he lets you have your way for a few minutes, using his precum as lube to begin pumping him faster and faster.
The feeling is overwhelming, considering how long his lower half has been waiting for this, for you. He reminds himself what he’s really here for and somehow finds it within himself to stop you, flipping you over on the mattress so he’s back to hovering over you.
“Not today, baby.”
“Chan, let me–”
He knows the only way to get you to quit insisting is by occupying your mouth, so that’s exactly what he does as he places his mouth against yours, kneading both your tits under his hands to get you all worked up again. It works as you let out the smallest whine against his mouth, all of that fighting drowning in your chest as you melt into putty in his hands yet again.
Chan continues to tease, bringing his tip to your entrance, circling it before dragging it up to your clit, spreading the mix of both of your arousal all over your cunt. Your hips buck and stutter at the feeling, still sensitive from your previous orgasm.
It isn’t long before he’s dragging himself back, tip pushing in hard as he continues his pressure. You’re both moaning at this point, mixing in profanities as he begins to thrust into your cunt, setting a pace for himself. You wrap your arms around his neck as he holds himself in a hover above you.
Soon enough, you feel him begin to brush against a particular spot inside you, one that has you moaning louder than you have all night. It’s almost like he knows what those sounds mean, angling his hips in a way that thrusts directly into that one spot that has you seeing stars.
“Chan, I’m—”
“I know, princess, I know,” he grunts out in response. “Let go, baby.”
And you do, hurtling into your second orgasm as you clutch the forearm he’s rested on the bed. Your back that arches off the sheets is met with his hand that runs over the expanse, coaxing the feeling out with the intimate touch.
You feel him pull out, moving away from you to let you breathe. You want to have the energy to tell him to come close to you again, but it sires difficult when you can barely breathe. You find yourself not needing to open your mouth, though, as you realize Chan’s mercy lasted barely a few seconds before you feel him push into your entrance again with no warning.
The gasp that leaves you is muffled by the mouth that’s put on yours as Chan fully engulfs you in his arms again. You take the opportunity to touch him, wrapping your arms around his torso, hands roaming as you feel up the expanse of his back and shoulders. He’s thrusting into you slower than before, his moans coming in directly into your ear now. The sound is enough to have you gushing around him again, your fingers finding his nape to tangle them in his hair.
“Fuck — you’re not keeping me in,” he groans, and you suddenly realize why he was going so slow.
It wasn’t like you could help it when you continued to clench around him like your life depended on it, but he didn’t seem to really mind it either when you felt his own cock twitch. Once he’s had quite enough, he pulls back momentarily to push your legs up against your body. Your thighs are pressing against your chest as you register that he’s basically folded you in half, giving him the room he so desired to properly fuck you.
“Keep those legs up for me, baby,” he orders as he helps, letting you rest them against his shoulders.
He slips himself out before going back in entirely, moving his hips at a pace that has you seeing stars. You feel him move his head to kiss the inside of your thighs, dragging his tongue over every surface he can reach. With his mouth occupied, the only sounds that encase the room are your own string of moans, paired with the absolutely lewd squelch that comes with every slap of Chan’s hips.
With the force he’s going at, you don’t doubt the bruises that’ll grace your lower half once he’s done. The fact that this wasn’t gonna be the end of it has you wondering how you’ll handle the next 24 hours with him. You decide you’ll think about that later as you let the feeling of him engulf you now.
“Oh, I’m so close,” he announces, and you can tell by the way his pace grows increasingly sloppier. He lets down one of your legs to free up his hand to bring back to your bruised clit, rubbing haphazard circles to make up for his also haphazard hip pace.
You can’t imagine minding, though, especially not right now when the desperation of it all has you building up your third high, “Me too, fuck, me too.”
Chan thrusts into you a couple more times before you announce that you're cumming, and the way you're clenching down on him harder than ever before has him letting out the loudest moan of the night as he begins to cum mere seconds after you. You can feel his hot liquid shoot into your walls, the slickness making your head spin even further.
You’re near passing out when Chan pulls out of you, flopping down on the bed next to you. Neither of you speak as you catch your breath for the nth time that night, somehow finding it within yourself to turn over to land your head on Chan’s outstretched arm. He doesn’t hesitate to bring you in as you curl up under his arm, head on his shoulder.
“Where do you get all that energy from?” you mumble into his arm.
He laughs a little at the question, dropping a kiss on your head, “Comes naturally when you have such a pretty thing to please.”
You snort in response, trying to hide the very apparent fluttering in your chest. Even after the amount of time you’ve spent having him all for yourself, you doubt the butterflies would ever leave – especially when he continues to drop his corny yet effective lines at any given opportunity.
“Shut up.”
“I don’t think you want me to,” he retorts, lolling his head to look at you, hair flopping on his forehead as he smiles at the sight of you.
“Fair enough.”
You both giggle a little, a little dazed at the cloud in the room. It falls into comfortable silence after, as you continue to gain your bearings after a session like that. Your mind begins to wander, thoughts landing you in the kitchen where the red flowers are now decorated.
“I know you’re a sap, which is why I’m asking you this,” you start, shifting to look at him. His face is glistening. “But what made you choose those flowers in specific?”
He thinks for a moment.
“The dahlia itself means… lasting grace. Beauty that remains, love to be declared.”
You stare at him as he licks his lips, “Red dahlias, those mean perseverance. Strength, power.”
He shifts so he isn’t on his back anymore, facing you entirely. “I don’t know much about flower talk, but I hoped both of those things together would tell you that… my love for you is stronger than the years. And I intend to prove it to you if you’ll let me.”
You’re tearing up now, and he can see it in the way your eyes turn from shiny to an overwhelming pool. Before he can say anything, you’re lurching forward to kiss him, smashing your mouths together in a way that you can only call dramatic, your tears dropping to hit his cheeks.
He brings a hand up to steady you, cupping your face to hold you there as you continue to peck his lips over and over.
“Thank you for loving me,” you mumble against his lips in a nasally voice.
“Thank you for loving me. Thank you,” he kisses you again, “for being born.”
You laugh a little, wet cheeks and sniffles to complete the look.
Chan can only wipe your tears away with a brush of his hand and hope that those tears remain happy, with him, for the rest of your days.

"Seonghwa?" Your cousin, Soyeon, calls for him on the other line. Soyeon rarely ever calls Seonghwa, but when she does, it's usually for good reason.
"Soyeon, what's up?" Seonghwa says, hand on his hip as he tries to regulate his breathing after a late night boxing session with Wooyoung and Hongjoong.
"Y/N said she would be home earlier, but she hasn't been. Yaya's worried, I'm worried. It's pouring outside." She says frantically. He sighs, stomach slightly dropping at the statement.
"Okay, where did she go last? I haven't heard from her since earlier this morning." Soyeon lets out a hefty sigh.
"Of course she wouldn't tell you. She was with Mingi." She says sarcastically, knowing Seonghwa would be upset with you for giving in, yet once again. Seonghwa had no issues giving you the 'I told you so' every single time you've been with your shitty ex-boyfriend. He always makes you cry, and it never fails. He doesn't understand why the fuck you keep running back to him. So to Seonghwa, it's not surprising that you kept this from him. Doesn't stop him from pinching the bridge of his nose before nodding, though.
"Alright, I'll find her. Don't worry."
"Thank you. Seriously. When you see her, you better tell her to stop seeing that fucking asshole. All he does is treat her like shit."
"Yeah, I know. Are you and Junseo home now?"
"Yeah, we are. We were gonna go to Yaya's but she told me to call you first before anything."
"Good, stay put. I'll take care of it and text you. She won't be far."
"God, such a headache. Thank you, Seonghwa."
"Course." He sighs as he ends the call, tossing his phone onto his duffle bag before un-doing the wrap around his hands.
"Done already?" Wooyoung asks, making Hongjoong shift his attention to the platinum blonde while they stand near the bag.
"I gotta go find Y/N."
"What? What happened?"
"Who knows, she was with Mingi."
"Dude is always bad news." Hongjoong chimes in, watching as Seonghwa throws his hoodie on and slings the duffle bag strap over his shoulder.
"Tell me about it." Seonghwa rolls his eyes and shakes his head. "I'll see you guys tomorrow."
"Text us when you're all good. Hope she's okay."
"She's fine. Just needa get her out of this rain." He says, giving them one last wave as he walks out of the studio and down the steps. Soyeon is right; the rain has picked up over the last few hours, creating huge puddles near the sidewalks and curbs due to the intensity. The stream of water makes a loud noise as it falls into the drain nearby, the loud pour of the rainfall echoing throughout the empty street. Seonghwa drags the hood over his head, doing a slight jog to his parked car on the side of the studio. Luckily for him, he knows where Song Mingi lives. Luckily for him, this town isn't that big and you couldn't have gotten far.
Luckily for him, he's right.
He finds you walking about two blocks away from Mingi's place, just getting ready to turn the corner to lord knows where. He slowly drives alongside of you, rolling down his passenger window to peak over at you. He's glad he found you when he did because you have a flimsy hoodie and leggings on, the hood completely drenched and barely doing anything to protect you from this rain.
"What are you doing, Seonghwa?" You ask, eyes glued forward as you continue to walk.
"What does it look like? Get in, you're gonna get sick." You squint your eyes at him as you continue to walk. "Y/N."
"How did you even know where to find me?"
"It's not hard to figure out when you're with Mingi." He quickly glances at the street ahead, making sure there are no oncoming cars or passengers in the way. "Plus, Soyeon called. Her and Yaya are worried because you told them you'd be home earlier."
"Of course." You mumble.
"Y/N, get inside and stop being stubborn."
"Seonghwa—" He starts to obnoxiously honk his horn on the quiet street, making your eyes widen at him. You continuously tell him to stop and to quit being so loud, however, his efforts don't stop. "Park Seonghwa, what the fuck! Fine!" You groan loudly, quickly opening the door when he stops the car. You plop yourself onto the seat, glaring at him. "Happy?!"
"Not really, but at least you're in the car." He locks the doors and turns up the heat, driving off to his 1 bedroom apartment. "You can stay at mine for tonight so you don't stress out Yaya." He keeps his eyes on the road, thoughts shifting to your grandma and how worried she might be right now.
"She won't even be that—"
"She sure as hell will, Y/N. Besides, who the hell wants to argue with you this late at night? It's almost 1am. Knowing your ass and how you never listen, even though you should." He sighs. "I'll take you home tomorrow morning before I head to work."
"Whatever." You cross your arms, still feeling cold and uncomfortable after being in the rain.
"Why were you walking in the rain?" He asks, most definitely knowing the answer already. Your nights with Mingi always end on some toxic shit, all this yelling and back and forth— arguing over empty promises and issues from the past.
And for what? The dude is never gonna change. Seonghwa isn't sure what the hell you're holding out hope for.
"I'll tell you if you spare me the 'I told you so.'" He shakes his head.
"Can't promise."
"Then you don't get shit from me."
"Why do you let him do this to you?"
"Wow, that's actually worse than an 'I told you so.'"
"I'm being serious." He glances at you with a very mixed expression, mainly serious and worrisome tones.
"I don't know, okay. I wish I could tell you." It's silent for a minute, the only sounds filling the car are the rain pounding against the windshield and the heat on high.
The thing about Seonghwa being your bestfriend of 16 years is the fact that you can always rely on him to be there no matter what. He's always so, so good to you; always so caring, so supportive and so protective. You've never had to ask Seonghwa for anything because he always gives, and is always ready to give. Just like tonight, when he shouldn't be here but he is.
He had been yours, just as you had been his since the beginning.
Sometimes, it's easy to believe you don't deserve someone like Seonghwa by your side.
You met this adorably shy, sweet kid when he was introduced to your class as a new transfer in the 3rd grade, most kids in your class politely saying hello but going about their own business afterwards. You, though, had stuck around to show Seonghwa his new school and to eat with him. Since then, your relationship had flourished. His dad had become bestfriends with your own dad, the two of you always going on family trips together, hanging out at each other's homes, going to the same schools onward— Seonghwa was always there, you were always there. He had seen you through your very best, seen you through your very worst. Was there during your highs, was there during your lows. Knows exactly how to push you right to the very edge, but also knows how to make up for his dumb mistakes. Knows exactly how to handle you, attitude, temper and all, knows exactly what makes you happy, what makes you sad.
He knows you like the back of his hand.
Probably better than you know yourself.
Seonghwa became the golden child though, you know? He had loving parents who supported him through everything. He was a superb student [a teacher's pet, if you may], an athlete, a prodigy; always winning numerous awards and medals throughout his academic and athletic career. He had countless talents and a positive energy that people admired him for, though shy and timid in the beginning. He got along well with people and was the ultimate charmer. Attractive, had his way with the ladies— albeit, he can be an idiot when he thinks with his dick from time to time and not his brain. But nonetheless, Seonghwa is Seonghwa. He would never intentionally hurt a soul, would never intentionally give people what they didn't deserve. To be clear though, Seonghwa has his fair share of mistakes and fuck-ups, but in the end, he would always apologize when in the wrong and make up for his actions. While you, on the other hand, were his polar opposite and struggled to find your place in this crazy, crazy world.
You had never met your biological mother, and your dad had spent majority of your earlier years working graveyard to keep food on the table, to keep sending you to a good school. You spent most of your childhood growing up at Yaya's house, where your dad's sister and her family lived for awhile. That's how your older cousin Soyeon became the sister you've never had, somebody else you could rely on, fight with and experience the ups and downs with. Things were good, and they were good for awhile until you lost your dad to a rare and sudden illness.
Then, things went downhill for you.
You continued to stay at Yaya's, only having her, Soyeon and her family, Seonghwa and his family by your side. You began to push people away, you got into trouble and made dumb mistakes that hurt your loved ones more times than you'd like to admit. You had your moments where you acted solely on feelings instead of being rational. You had no filter, not being afraid of telling people if they were wrong even if it meant hurting their feelings to no end. You no longer got along well with most people, finding it hard to vibe well with majority of the crowd. No longer caring about what was in the know, what was trending; was incredibly selective about who you gave your time and effort to in fear of losing more loved ones dear to your heart.
Without Seonghwa at your side, you're not sure where you'd be. Because truly, if it wasn't for him, you don't think you would have continued to try. He was the only thing that remained constant in your life, one of the only people who continued to show you genuine care and love despite your flaws and all.
"Have you eaten?" He suddenly speaks and changes the topic, not wanting to upset you any more than you already are.
"I'm not hungry."
"You need to eat something." You don't respond. "Mom made some kimbap today, I can set some aside for you."
"Thanks." You say softly, watching as the car finally drives into the familiar apartment complex. Seonghwa turns the wheel with one hand, pulling into his assigned parking spot before shutting off the car. He lets out a sigh before looking over at you, noticing you're still in your sad, sulky position in the passenger seat.
"Ready? Or should we just sleep in here tonight?" You slowly turn and glare at him, mocking him before answering dramatically— knowing it's the most childish thing you can do right now, especially after Seonghwa took the time to find you and pick you up in this rain.
"Why don't you just leave me here?"
"Good with me. At least I don't have to lend you any more of my clothes and have you sleeping on my couch. Matter of fact, more kimbap for me." He says, stepping out of the car, keys rattling in his pocket as he turns to shut his car door. He continues to walk without worry because he knows the shit you pull.
You'll end up following him.
He doesn't even have to turn over his shoulder to make sure you do. He hears the car door slam after a few minutes, and he smirks a bit to himself before locking the car using the key fob in his pocket.
"You really have to slam my car door like that?" He asks, slightly looking over his shoulder before climbing up the steps.
"Sorry." You mumble, pathetically following your bestfriend with your arms crossed tightly against your chest. He unlocks his door and waits for you to make it up the steps, letting you step in and out of your shoes first before following you inside. He tosses his keys onto the entryway table before walking into the kitchen and pulling out his phone to text Soyeon that you were safe with him for the night.
"You can go shower first. Just take whatever you want from my closet." He says, eyes focused on the bag of kimbap his mom had dropped off earlier in the day. You simply nod and head straight to his closet, grabbing some pajama pants and a longsleeve. You toss your clothes into the bathroom sink, mentally making a note to ask Seonghwa if you can throw in a load of his laundry with your clothes. The last thing you wanna do is make a mess in Seonghwa's super clean apartment, let alone drag home some wet clothes from the night prior.
The shower you take is short, but relaxing. You let the hot water beat down on you, thoroughly scrubbing and scratching every inch of your body, your scalp. When you finish, you lather some lotion and pad back out to his living room. Seonghwa glances up, watching as you come towards him with his long pajama pants and a long sleeve with sleeves that falls past your hands. He thinks you're the cutest thing he has ever seen [especially in his clothes], but he subtly bites onto his bottom lip to suppress the smile forming at his lips.
"Can I do some of your laundry so I can wash my clothes? They're just sitting in your bathroom sink." He shrugs.
"Don't worry about it, I'll toss it in there before I hop into the shower." He slides a small plate on the counter of his kitchen island bar area, before handing you a hot cup of green tea. "Eat at least one." You nod, watching as he washes his hands and begins to make his way to the bathroom. You're hungrier than you thought, popping in all the pieces of kimbap Seonghwa prepared for you before downing the green tea. In the end, you feel full, satisfied.
Content.
Warm.
After a good thirty minutes, Seonghwa is out of the shower and tossing the load into the dryer. He's ruffling his semi-dry hair as he brings out a thick blanket for you, glancing at the random Cars movie playing on the tv.
"Here." He says. "You finished eating?"
"Mhm."
"Okay. I'm gonna go to bed then." He turns to head into his room.
"Hwa, can't you just sleep out here with me?" You point at the free part of his L-shaped sectional couch.
"Why, when I have a perfectly comfortable bed to sleep on in here?" He points to his room, but you pout.
"But, you also have an amazing couch that you can share with your bestfriend."
"You snore and you move around too much."
"I do not, and you'd be on that side of the couch anyway!" You furrow your brows. "You snore, too!"
"Not as loud as you, sounding like you belong in that Cars movie." He glances at the tv screen while making the dumb joke, and you groan.
"Okay, fine. Whatever." You succumb to defeat and wave the white flag. "I just don't necessarily wanna be alone."
"You're not, I'm right here."
"Pichu." Ah, there it is. That stupid nickname he's painfully grown to adore after you've told him time and time again that he looks just like the pokemon. He sighs, realizing you probably won't let this up. On top of that, he knows he can't say no to you regarding most things. So, he drags himself into his room and rips off his duvet comforter from the bed to bring with him into the living room. He sets himself up on one section of the couch, while you take up the other— heads meeting at the corner.
"The moment you rip out a big snore, I'm leaving you out here." He warns and you snort.
"You're a dick. I don't even snore like that."
"And how would you know, sleeping beauty?" He looks at you, heart content with the way you happily look at him from your side of the couch. You have no rebuttal though, so he shuts off the tv and rests his hand on the back of his head while closing his eyes. "Thought so. Get some sleep, it's getting late." He hears you rustling underneath your own blankets, head gently knocking onto the side of his that makes him suck his teeth. "Y/N." He groans with a whiney tone. "This is what I mean."
"Sorry, sorry." You pout, rubbing the side of his head. "I'm good now." You mumble underneath the blankets as you settle, satisfied with your warm and bundled position. You can hear Seonghwa's soft breathing behind you, signaling that he'll probably fall asleep soon [and quick, too]. "Hwa?" You softly call for him one last time.
"Hm?" He hums.
"Thank you." You pause. "For everything."
"You know I care about you more than anything, right?" He says, close to a whisper. "You deserve way better."
"Yeah." Is all you respond with before closing your eyes, hoping to finally be at peace for the remainder of the night. "Love you, pichu." You say sleepily.
"Love you, too." He feels the statement tug at his heart strings because Seonghwa does love you, he has loved you for years. Been in love with you for years. But you were always the most important, this dynamic and relationship was the most important, that he's learned to suppress and live with it— even though at times, he feels like he gives it away pretty easily, or lets his emotions get to the best of him.
Everyone can tell.
Everyone knows.
Everyone but you.
Surprisingly, you do fall asleep before Seonghwa. He can't help but peek from his peripherals, noticing your steady breathing under the covers. Your head is barely poking out from the covers, making Seonghwa smile to himself. He settles a little closer to you, top of your head tucked near the crook of his neck as he slightly turns towards your side and finally shuts his eyes to get some sleep.
Tumblr media
When you wake up the following morning, it's because Seonghwa's cussing to himself as he runs to grab his ringing phone on the island counter. His eyes quickly dart to you as he snatches the phone and answers the call, noticing you're starting to wake up.
"Sorry, Y/N." He apologizes and you let out a small squeak as you stretch and shake your head.
"It's okay, Hwa. Should probably get up anyway." You rub at your eyes, watching as he paces back into his room to finish getting ready for work. He's apparently talking to Wooyoung, agreeing to pick the guy up after bringing you home since they work at the same place— two athletic trainers for the men's sports teams at one of the universities in town, Wooyoung and Seonghwa mainly taking care of the football and basketball teams, popping into other sports if the help is urgently needed. They've both worked really hard to earn their current positions, being two of the leads who focus on training, treatment and rehabilitating their athletes at homebase, and only participating in a few quick trips for away games if asked.
As you stand and start to fold the blanket, you catch sight of how tired Seonghwa looks and you feel terrible. You know Seonghwa loves to test his limits, working out late after his shifts and barely getting 8 hours of sleep right before a busy day of tending to athletes. Despite your nagging and lecturing him on getting more rest, Hwa has gotten used to doing things this way.
However, part of you still feels guilty that he doesn't look as bright and alert this morning because of you. Because you needed more saving, because you chose to be stubborn and listen to Mingi even though he hasn't given you a reason to trust him since you've broken up.
"I didn't mean to wake you so early."
"I mean, you do have to leave soon, don't you?" You check the clock, peeping the current time as 8:27am. "Isn't this really late for you, actually?" Especially during the season, Seonghwa is always at work by 6AM, leaving super late in the afternoon. Off-season is a little easier for him, being that practice schedules are spread out due to sharing space with other sports/teams.
"Not for today. The team is lifting right now, I need to work on some rehab reports first before training and practice later today." You nod. "Are you good to leave soon then?"
"Of course."
"Okay, let me just grab a few things so we can head out. I need to pick up Wooyoung's lazy ass."
"He's not in to help with lifting?"
"Not anymore. Dude overslept." You snort.
"Why am I not surprised?"
"Director Shin loves him. She would never get him in trouble or scold him."
"She loves you, too." You say.
"Not as much as Wooyoung. She'll bite my head off first before she ever thinks about coming for him." He throws in some food into his duffle bag solely for work. The duffle bag is huge, having the university's name plastered on the side in big, bold letters— followed by his name etched onto the corner with his athletic training certification. "By the way." He points at your neatly folded, washed clothes on the coffee table. "Don't forget your clothes."
"Thanks."
"Are you just gonna go home like that?" He eyes his clothes on your figure.
"Yeah, why not?" He shrugs.
"Alright then. Let's go." He pats himself down to double check that he has everything on him before heading out of the door. You lazily follow behind after slipping into your sneakers, having to roll up Seonghwa's pajama pants so that they don't reach the floor and get dirty. You plop into the passenger's seat with your clothes on your lap, rubbing at your eyes once situated. "You didn't have to get up so early. I technically don't need to be there until 10."
"It's fine, Hwa."
"Did you tell Yaya we were on the way?"
"No, I'll just surprise her when I get there." You smile and he shakes his head.
"You need to stop worrying your grandma and your cousin."
"I'm not even doing anything!"
"You're not? Then, what was last night?" He glances at you then lets out a small scoff. "Exactly. And please stop running back to Mingi. That dude isn't gonna change, and you know that. All he does is make you upset and I can't stand it. You two aren't good for each other."
"I hear you." You say lowly, head leaning against the passenger window.
"I'm sorry." He lets out a breath, genuinely just worried about you and your wellbeing. "I don't mean to do this so early, but I just get worried about you." He ruffles your hair a bit, causing a small smile to creep up on the corners of your lips.
"It's okay. I need to hear it." He chuckles.
"Yeah, you do. You're such a fucking headache." He jokes. "But you're important to me, and all I want is for you to be happy." He pinches your cheeks, making you scrunch your nose.
"Thanks Hwa." He looks at you while posted at a stop light, admiring the way you scrunch your nose and let out a little giggle. That's how he likes to see you. Not upset, sad, or crying. Especially over Song Mingi.
The drive to your house isn't too far, or at least, it never feels too far since you and Seonghwa always engage in conversations about various things while in the car. He pulls into Yaya's driveway, parking right next to Soyeon's car. You occupy the tiny detached in-law suite in the corner of the backyard, so Seonghwa isn't surprised when you try to scurry to the backyard to avoid Yaya and Soyeon.
"She's here!" He yells and points at you.
"You're a pain in the fucking ass, Park." You glare at him while you simultaneously hear Yaya telling you to come into the house and to not even think about running into the backyard.
"Oh, Yaya! Miss damsel in distress just walked in."
"Y/N. You should've called or texted. We were worried when we didn't hear from you." Yaya looks at you disappointingly while whipping up some breakfast.
"Sorry." You mumble as Seonghwa brushes past you to kiss ass to Yaya.
"Always needing her bestfriend to come and save the day." Soyeon says sarcastically before crossing his arms. "Seriously, what the hell would you do without Hwa? And why the hell didn't you make it home in time or text to let us know you'd be late?"
"Yeah, yeah. Whatever. Hi to you too." You squint at her. "He was supposed to bring me home but we got into another stupid fight, that's all." You roll your eyes before glancing at the empty luggages she has next to her.
"So, he just let you walk in the rain? What a fucking dick."
"Language." Yaya warns, glaring at the two of you from the kitchen next to Seonghwa, who is quickly peeling a banana he took from the fruit basket.
"Where are you going?" You nod at the luggages.
"Me and Junseo are heading to Japan in a few days." She smiles. "We're way overdue for our anniversary vacation. Meaning, you're gonna have to man the restaurant." You groan. "And watch Charli? Pretty please." She pleads in a sweet tone, knowing you'll always do anything for their 3 year old daughter.
"Seriously?!"
"Charli loves staying with you and Yaya! And all you have to do for the restaurant is make sure everything runs smoothly and be the cute waitress that you already are! It's nothing you haven't done! Plus, Yoongi and Jini will be there, and Charli will be in preschool for the most part." At this point, you whine [moreso about maintaining the restaurant] while Soyeon continues to check the list on her phone.
"Speaking of the restaurant, are you free tonight?" Seonghwa chimes in, looking at his phone.
"I don't know, depends on my boss here." You glare at Soyeon before looking back at Seonghwa. "Why?"
"San is back home so we're going out to the bar."
"Excuse me?!" You yell. "What the fuck!"
"Hey!" Yaya glares at you again. "Say that word one more time in my house."
"Okay, I'm sorry!" You point at Seonghwa. "But, you! Why didn't you tell me about Sannie coming back?!"
"How could I? You were too busy sulking over Mingi." He says, furrowing his brows with a cheek full of banana. Soyeon snorts and shakes her head, making you glare at the both of them.
"Ha-ha very funny. You didn't think you could tell me any other day?"
"Well, he wasn't even supposed to be coming back until next week. But he just texted us saying he decided to come back early and that he's already settled at the condo his uncle owns."
"Why aren't I getting these texts?" Seonghwa smirks and flicks your chin with his finger.
"Because boys need to talk about boy things."
"Oh whatever, it's not like any of you are getting any—"
"Seonghwa, please. Tell that girl to stop talking like that." Yaya pleads for him to tell you to keep it quiet. He chuckles a bit before looking at you pointedly, tapping the tip of your nose.
"Stop that." He smiles down at you. "And who said we weren't?"
"Please, all you guys do is yell while playing FIFA and Mario Party." You sigh. "Anyway, I'm going back to sleep for a bit. I'll come in for an earlier shift at the restaurant so that I can see Sannie." You direct the statement at Soyeon and all she does is nod.
"Pick you up afterwards then?"
"Ah, it's okay. Usual bar, right?" He nods. "I'll just bus over." You tap his chest. "Thanks pichu, see you later. Have fun at work!" At this point, Yaya is walking towards Soyeon and Seonghwa, hands placed on her hips as she observes you skipping to your in-law suite.
"Hwa." Yaya tugs on his arm before he can help Soyeon pack the large luggages in her trunk and head out to pick up Wooyoung.
"Hm?"
"It should just be you two." She pouts, making Seonghwa laugh. Time and time again, Yaya has always pushed the 'you and Seonghwa' agenda, stating that you two were meant to be together. And Seonghwa doesn't mind, he always laughs about it. He kinda likes that Yaya [everyone, really] thinks so, and if things were easy, he'd make it happen without question. But things aren't— because there's always that voice in the back of his head that tells him he needs to leave things as they are or else everything will be ruined.
He doesn't want that.
He would rather bury his feelings than lose you.
There's no way you'd go that route with him. You've made it clear to everyone that Seonghwa was your bestfriend and your bestfriend only. That people need to quit shoving the idea down your throat because you could never; he'd be lying if he said it didn't hurt to hear it.
"Yaya, you already know the answer to that." He says anyway and she pouts even more, leaning her head against his firm bicep.
"But you're the only one who knows how to handle her. She's such a handful but you've always stayed by her side."
"Mm, I don't think I necessarily had a choice." Yaya chuckles and gently swats his arm playfully.
"You two should just kiss and get married."
"Kiss and get married? Wow. What a plan." Soyeon says sarcastically, making Seonghwa laugh.
"No can do with that one." He places a small kiss on the top of her head before helping Soyeon with the last large luggage. "I gotta pick up Wooyoung and head to work. Text or call me if you need me." Seonghwa says.
"Make sure my baby cousin doesn't do anything reckless tonight when she's out with you guys? Like, I don't know, run to Mingi while drunk?" Seonghwa shakes his head at Soyeon's response.
"Won't let her out of my sight." He waves one last goodbye before settling into his car and driving off.
It's 20 minutes to Wooyoung's apartment, and another 15 to the university from there. When he arrives, Wooyoung tosses his own duffle bag in the back and plops into the passenger's seat before slouching into it.
"Did you find babygirl?" Wooyoung asks, making Seonghwa furrow his brows at him.
"Yes I did, and stop calling her that."
"Why, are you jealous? You can't gatekeep Y/N to yourself. I'm close to her, too." Wooyoung smirks.
"Shut up before I make you walk to work." Seonghwa glares at him. "It's not even that, it's just weird."
"Why is it weird?"
"Because it is."
"Because you love her?"
"Get the hell out—"
"I'm sorry! I'm kidding!" Wooyoung says in a high-pitched tone before laughing. "But, really, it's not weird."
"Yes, it is."
"She loves it and she's used to it. Therefore, I'll keep using it. Resting my case, your honor." Wooyoung snorts. "What happened last night anyway?"
"I don't know, she got into a fight with Mingi and walked out."
"He didn't come after her? It was pouring."
"Nope. She was gonna walk to.. I don't know, actually. She was just walking in the rain."
"That's not okay." Wooyoung sucks his teeth and does a slight head tilt. "They're toxic as hell to each other." Seonghwa shrugs.
"I know. I tried to tell her but at a certain point, that's all I can do. It gets really hard to control someone's behavior and police their actions."
"Can I ask you something?" Wooyoung looks at him with a small smile. "I'm genuinely curious."
"What?"
"Why haven't you made your move on Y/N? Your feelings for her have always been obvious."
"Have they? Seems like she's the only one who hasn't seen it." Wooyoung shrugs.
"Yeah. I mean, you drop everything— and I mean everything— for her without question. And you get all affectionate with her!" His tone raises a bit. "You hate initiating affection! If that ain't love.." Wooyoung tilts his head again and squints at Seonghwa.
"She's my bestfriend. All of that happens naturally."
"It's not just that, and you know it. I know people really do put their bestfriends on a pedestal, but you put babygirl before anyone and anything. Even yourself." Seonghwa slightly winces at the Wooyoung's nickname before shaking his head.
"Not true."
"Very true. Look, dude. It's not bad, but I do hope you leave some space for yourself. I know she would never intentionally hurt you, but it still doesn't eliminate the possibility of getting hurt at some point. I don't want that to happen, especially if you've poured everything in her over these years." Seonghwa lets out a breath and pauses for a moment because for once, Wooyoung makes sense. And he's right. He has poured everything in you, continues to pour everything in you very willingly— sometimes, he doesn't even realize he's doing it. Sometimes, he doesn't even realize he's putting you before everything, that he's dropping everything for you.
Hell, it's even to the point where he can't even date properly and sleeps around from time to time to let out steam. It's because he just feels this attachment to you; an attachment past being your bestfriend— like some thread of hope he holds onto, thinking that some day, you'll see him in that light.
Someone who could genuinely, deeply and strongly love you, care for you, support you, with no boundaries.
"I know."
"Why don't you just tell her? You know, be honest." Wooyoung shrugs.
"I don't wanna lose her, and I'm afraid I will if I do. I'm afraid I'll fuck everything up between us and change the dynamic just because I wanted to be selfish."
"I don't think you'd lose her. I'm sure she wouldn't let that change anything between the two of you, either. And why don't you think she'd go for it?"
"I just don't think she would."
"Maybe she's thinking the same way as you." Wooyoung sees the university in sight and starts to loosen himself up, getting ready to head out of the door as soon as Seonghwa pulls into a spot. "I think you should go for it, Hwa. You can't live like this forever. You love her, she should know. And if things don't work out, I doubt she'll let that change things between you two. You two understand each other well, and you both make sense together."
"Mm, yeah. Thanks." Seonghwa gives him a pursed smile before Wooyoung slips off his seatbelt and smiles.
"Guess that means I can tag along again tomorrow?" Seonghwa rolls his eyes and steps out of the car before slamming his door.
"I'll think about it, lazy ass."

ANYWHO!!! i hope you guys enjoy this! again sorry it took so long! credit to the gif owner!!
warnings: mean parents (mainly dad), not proofread (that's a warning itself), there's probably some cursing in here, angst to fluff!! no pronouns used! everyone is free to read :)
Tumblr media
Your hands shook as you shoved clothes into your bag. You could still hear your parents shouting at each other downstairs but you didn't care, not right now at least. You bite down on your bottom lip trying to stop your own crying while they fought.
“That is our child! I will not have you kick them out!” your mom shouted.
“So you're okay with them running around with a drug dealer while we work our asses off to provide for them?!”
You flinch at the booming voice echoing through the house. They weren't supposed to find out like this, you're glad Eddie managed to run out of the house before your father could strangle him. You're standing at the top of the stairs watching your parents argue, your mom pinches the bridge of her nose while your dad continues to yell.
“We don't work our asses off so that they can fuck around and be delinquent!”
“I know…” your mom sighed.
“We didn't give away our weekends to work while they go out to get high and do only God knows what!”
“I know! Don't you think I know this?! But sweetie…they're young-”
“Young or not they're not to be seen with him ever again.”
“Don't I get a say in this?!”
Your parents turn toward the stairs shocked to see you down.
“Baby we said go to your room-” your mom started but was cut off by your dad.
“No, you do not get a say in this. You are going to your room to study-”
Tears well in your eyes as you shake your head. “Dad please-”
“No!” he shouted.
“You're not even trying to hear me out!”
“There’s nothing to hear! End of discussion!”
Silence falls over the three of you as you wipe away a stray tear that fell down your cheek.
“You can't stop me from seeing him. I won't let you.”
“If you see him again you can pack your things and get out of my house.”
Your eyes widened as your mom gasped out your dad’s name while her hands flew to her mouth in shock. You don't even bother to look in your dad’s direction when you grab the bag that was hidden behind your legs on the last step of the stairs. You miss the look of shock on his face as you brush past him, your mom following close behind trying to reason with you.
“Sweetie, go back to your room, it's raining crazy out there, your father didn't mean what he said.”
You stop walking, your hand on the door as you turn around to face the man that kicked you out of your childhood home.
“Say it,” you say through gritted teeth.
“He didn't-”
“Not you mom, I know you want me to stay but I need to hear it from his mouth.”
You feel hopeful when you see him make his way toward you but that all goes away when he opens the door and looks at you with sad and tired eyes.
“You can come back when you've come to your senses.”
You don't even bother hiding the tears streaming down your face as you exit the house quickly trying to get away from the shouts that were quick to reach your ears. You stood still on the sidewalk, the drops of rain mixing in with your tears as one thought ran through your head.
Where the fuck were you supposed to go now?
-
You don't remember how you managed to make it over to the all too familiar trailer park but you're grateful to have made it in one piece. Although it is late into the night, you don't hesitate to lift your hand up and knock on the door three times. While you wait for someone to answer, you wrap your arms around your body to keep your frame warm while you try your best to avoid the rain that's pouring from the sky.
“Y/n? What are you doing here?”
Your eyes shoot up to the voice at the door and tears well up again before you clear your throat.
“Can I come in Wayne? I-i’m sorry for waking you I-i just need-”
He gently shushes you and brings you into the warm home before closing the door.
“Stay here sweetheart,” he whispered while locking the door. “I'll get you a towel and wake Eddie up for you.”
You mutter out a quiet thank you but before he leaves he places a hand on your shoulder and looks at you with kind eyes.
“I'm not sure what happened with your folks, but you always have a home here kid.”
You give him a sad smile and watch as he walks away to get you a towel. Your eyes scan the all-too-familiar trailer and you smile when you see a picture of Eddie and Wayne hanging by the door. Your heart swelled when you saw how happy it looked with just the two of them, who knows? Maybe you'll be happy without your parents breathing down your neck and trying to control almost every aspect of your life.
You furrow your brows studying the picture some more. Although your parents were controlling you knew they loved you. All they wanted was the best for you.
Oh god, you think to yourself. What if this was a mistake? What if they were right and you shouldn't be hanging out with someone like Eddie? The town does talk and he doesn't exactly have the best track record. Maybe you should go home, maybe you should just sleep on this and maybe you can even convince your parents to give you some sort of freedom. The sound of someone stumbling down the hall breaks you free from your thoughts as you turn around to see what was the cause of the noise.
“Shit- ow,” Eddie grumbled as he hopped over a pile of mess in the hall. He stops in his tracks when your eyes lock with his and suddenly everything comes rushing back to you. The fight, you walking in the rain, waking up both of the Munson men.
“Eddie…” you whimpered out.
Eddie is quick to rush over to your side and wrap a warm towel around your rain-soaked body.
“Hey, hey, it's okay-”
“It's not okay Eddie!”
Eddie nods his head. “Okay, it's not okay, what's going on sweetheart? Why are you here so late?”
You stumble over your words. You try whispering, keeping in mind that Wayne probably went back to sleep but little sobs make themselves known from time to time. Eddie gently shushes you as he leads you toward his bedroom and sits you on the edge of his bed.
“Here, it's not much but it'll keep you warm,” he said quietly while placing the black sweatshirt beside you. You mumble out a quiet thank you as he turns around and lets you get changed.
“I'm done,” you whisper.
Eddie turns around and offers you a small smile before he lays down on the bed and pats the spot next to him. You take a seat next to him and lean back against the headboard, your fingers falling to play with the hem of the sweatshirt he gave you.
“So,” he said quietly. “Are you gonna tell me what brings you to my humble abode?”
You giggle and wipe away a small tear.
“Parents kicked me out.”
Eddie sits up quickly, his eyes are wide in shock and you're looking at everything except for him.
“Shit…I'm sorry to hear that.”
You shrugged your shoulders and finally laid down, bringing the blanket up to you. Your sore and stressed body is finally getting the much-needed rest it deserves. No wonder Eddie never shows up for first period, his bed is practically a cloud that lulls you to sleep without even knowing it. You were too busy fighting to keep your eyes open that you didn't even realize Eddie got back into his usual position until he asked you another question.
“Was it because of me?”
Your eyes snap open as your mind scatters trying to think of what to say. The last thing you want to do is make Eddie feel upset, but your silence was speaking loud enough for you.
“I get it if you don't want to hang out anymore. I don't have a squeaky-clean record like you-”
You laughed. “My record isn't squeaky clean.”
“Yeah because you met me.”
A familiar silence falls over you both and the tension in the air is thick.
“Are they gonna let you go back?” he asks quietly.
You nod your head. “Only if I stop seeing you.”
Eddie bites the inside of his bottom lip. He clears his throat and nods his head almost as if he's accepting that this is the last time he'll see you.
“I don't want to.”
Eddie furrows his brows in confusion.
“What are you talking about?”
“I don't want to stop seeing you,”
A blanket of silence covers you both but it's different this time, almost as if Eddie is waiting for you to finish saying what you want to say. What you need to say.
“I like you, Eddie. I like how you made studying with you more than studying. It was fun, I found myself looking forward to seeing you every Wednesday after school.”
You bring your hand up to your lips and anxiously chew on your fingernails.
“I know you might not feel the same way, and that's okay. I just…I don't want to stop seeing you.”
“I don't want to stop seeing you either.”
Before you had time to let the words sink in Eddie had his arms wrapped around you, your body pressing into his. You feel his lips gently kiss the crown of your head as he gives you a little squeeze.
“Are you sure you want to do this?” he whispered.
You shimmied your arms free from his embrace and placed both hands on his face. He lets out a sigh and closes his eyes at your warm touch.
“I want this. I want you.”
“Are you sure-”
“I want it all Eddie. I want all the trouble we're gonna face, I want to come home to you after a bad day, I want you to wrap me in your arms when you see me. I want this.”
Not even bothering to hide the smile that stretched across his face he tightens his arms around you again and gently nudges your head with his nose.
“You know,” he starts. “People are gonna talk when they see us. Word will get around and your parents will find out.”
You shrug your shoulders leaning up just a little bit to place a gentle kiss on his cheek.
"Let them talk then. What are they gonna do? Kick me out?" a chuckle escapes your lips as you snuggle into his side.
"It's you and me against the world now Munson."
"Yeah," Eddie sighs with a smile.
"You and me.”

|[ Rainy day •••]|
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The sound of rain can be heard dropping down the ground. The busy stress of Japan slowed down on rainy days. Car unintentionally, splashes the pedestrians that walk down the sides of the road.
Curses of people and honks of horns. You stood by a random complex building trying to leave to go to your apartment and just take a nice long relaxing bath. Although; you were stuck by the entrance of the building.
It was pouring out today, you cursed yourself for not checking the weather app. Including not thinking to bring an umbrella with you. You usually did every day; except today…
You let out an long-exhausted sigh. You stood by and watched as people walk by the pouring rain, umbrellas in hand.
Some run towards their cars. Many ran by a nearby stores for sanctuary form the pouring rain, and some others, they didn't care. They just walked along the sidewalk tapping making small splashes on the concrete, walking home with their hoodies up...
You sigh, as you watched some random couple pass by you. Their umbrellas covering them, their bodies close to one other... with loving smiles on their faces.
You always wonder how being loved…, wanted... , held, by someone close felt like. You never got to have someone like that in your life.
All you had was your grandparents and honestly, you were content with that. Since your parents were no longer in the picture of your life...
You knew running to your apartment complex would be a bad idea. It’s a little further away from where you’re standing at the moment...
You'd just have to wait for the rain to stop.
Usually, it takes....60 minutes...
You huff and stepped back, softly bumping into the building walls. You exhale, and watch the fog of your breath fade into the cool air.
You looked down at your heeled feet, tapping and scrapping the concrete in circler motion.
You did this for about 13 minutes. As you were too focused on your feet, you hadn't noticed a figure had stood by you; waiting for you to take notice of them.
And so, they stood close to your ear; their warm breath tickled your hair.
"Whatćha doing Chickáde?"
Startled, you jumped back and gasped at the sudden warm breath near your ear. You covered it from the source of the voice, and went into defense mode.
but soon relaxed as you realize who it was. You let your guard down and put your hand on your raising heart, and let out a sigh of relief.
"Hawks, you startled me." He lightly laughs and apologizes. "Sorry, I just noticed you standing here as I flow by. So I just decided to stand next to you. To see if you'd noticed," He cheekily smiles down at you.
"It's alright, and as for your question, I'm waiting around for the rain to stop." you looked up at the pouring rain and cringed,
"But...it won't be stopping anytime soon, since it just started..." You looked down once again, watching the splashes of rain hitting the concrete, it bounced a few times; only to hit the floor again.
As you watched, you felt a small cold tap on your head. You looked towards Hawks, wondering if he had done the tapping.
He was too focused on looking up, watching the rain fall. He had felt your staring and looked down at you.
You both stared at each other for a while, you scan over his features; admiring how handsome Hawks is.
His beautiful golden-brown orbs stared down at you, as some of his blond locks of gold; fall down his angelic features. He tilts his head in wonder, as to why you’ve been staring.
You said nothing. You both stayed this way and unbeknownst to both the citizen and pro-hero. They were leaning towards one another.
If only you could capture this picture-perfect moment in a photo, you'd treasure it. It's been a while since you and Hawks had some time alone together.
Ever since a few months ago when the Nomus attacked the city, that’s when he stop visiting. The Hero Public Safety Commission has been working Keigo to exhaustion... so you never got to see him in those hard times. To comfort him, be there for him and mend his wounds.
You didn't want to think about that right now, you were just so glad he was here with you. Standing there, giving you genuine smiles and just feeling safe and secure with you.
As you were both very close to one another, you abruptly jumped back. Straddled at the sudden feeling of something cool dropped or... more like tapping on the crown of your head once again.
Hawks had quickly jumped back worriedly, thinking he had done something wrong; maybe even lost his chances with you...
His wings lowered themselves down in disappointment, but went up in defense when he noticed you confusedly tapped your head.
"What's wrong?" He asks checking for any sort of injuries or something out of place. you looked up at what it was and it was the canopy of the cafe.
It had small old holes, letting the water drip down, there were a few of them near you. You walked backward wanting to avoid the little waters dripping down your head.
You had hit something hard on your back and looked up to see Hawks, "Oh! I'm sorry Hawks, I should have watched where I was going..." you apologized and embarrassedly looked down. "It's fine!" He reassures quickly replacing his serious face with a cheery smile.
You took a step back, giving him space and, ignoring the fact that small drops of waters; dripping down your head. And were rolling uncomfortably down your face and hair.
Hawks noticed this,
You stood by him feeling as if you had the worst luck today, and sigh in disappointment. As you felt the water drop on your hair, you also noticed a shadow above your head as well as a reflection of the color red illuminating and glowed. Warmth, radiating near you as well, and the dropping droplets of water; stopped.
You looked up and saw Hawks looking the other way, you smiled as you saw a glimpse of his ear heating up; the shade of red was noticeable. Too shy to look towards you.
No matter how much of a charmer Hawks was, you somehow always brought out the shyness in him. It made his cheeks flush.
He shields your head with his wing, protecting you from the rain. It warmed your heart at his genuine kindness and gentle attitude toward you. As well as; giving you your space, making sure not to get uncomfortably close to you. For the sake of your comfort.
Although; you didn't mind if he did, even though he was a flirt, he was still a gentleman. You slowly went close to him gently bumping his shoulders, you felt how his body stiffened and his wings fluttered.
If only you knew how much his heart was racing; his stomach felt like there were a million butterflies, just fluttering around. Just for you. For your touch... and only you. He craved for you more than anything. He wished he can voice out, how much these little moments meant to him.
You slowly sneaked your hand towards his gloved one and intertwined your fingers. Hawks softy embraced your warm hand, and gently intertwine your hands. He softy brushes his thumb on your hand, trying his best to calm his racing heart. You both smiled at the action and stayed that way for a while.
"(Yn),"
Hawks spoke. You turned to him giving your full attention. "Let's walk to your apartment,"
"Hawks, it's pouring..." You lightly chuckled, "We also don't have an umbrella," you pointed out.
"Who said anything about needing an umbrella?" You surprisedly looked up at him, Hawks gave you a cheeky smile and and tugged you forward. He then, shields you with his beautiful vermilion wing above your head.
You looked at him gratefully and took his hand. He lightly guides you out the safety of the canopy, with his wing covering your head.
"(Yn)," Hawks soft voice call for your attention.
"Yes?"
"Can I... hold you?" He asks you, hesitantly; looking the other way hiding his flushed face. You smiled sweetly at him, "Sure,"
With your consent, he puts his hand on your hips and pulled you close to him. You shyly look away, but you held onto his arm.
You felt your heart thumping in your chest, your cheeks heated up. You bit your bottom lip softy, trying to clam down. He smirks as he noticed you bit your bottom lip, but decided not to tease you about it… yet.
You felt safe, happy and felt a sworm of butterflies in you tummy. He was warm and gentle as he held you close. His hand on your hips, as his wing was above you; as you both walked down the pouring rain together, Hand in hand; with warmth and safety.
In a way, you were happy that it was a rainy day. Or else you wouldn’t get the chance to be close to him, as you were now. He thought the same thing. He would gladly be your shield against the pouring rain.

caught in the rain
pairing: chris evans x reader
summary: your mischievous puppy is the reason you end up meeting your dashingly handsome neighbor
word count: 2.2k
warnings: swearing, lots of chris + dogs fluff
Tumblr media
“Duke, c’mon. Can we not stop to smell every blade of grass? Mommy doesn’t want to get caught in the rain” you asked, trying to put some pep in the step of your new dog.
You eyed the approaching storm clouds and prayed you could make it home before it started pouring; however, Duke had other plans. You had had Duke for about four months, but that didn’t stop him from smelling the same grass and trees every single day.
You normally weren’t in a rush and we’re down to enjoy a calm stroll with your pup, but now the weather had other plans.
You focused your gaze on the dark clouds and how fast they were moving. As soon as you looked away, Duke got distracted: a squirrel darting down the street.
Duke took off in pursuit of the small animal. Being an almost-forty-pound german shepherd, he quickly pulled the leash out of your hand.
You felt the burning in your hand as the leash was yanked out of your reach. You chased after Duke, who was currently sprinting down the street in the opposite direction of your house.
You silently cursed your decision to not buy a small dog like a pug; you could’ve caught up to a pug.
“Duke, come here” you screamed after your dog, but the command missed his attention. He had lost sight of the squirrel and was now just blissfully running in the breeze, unaware of his owner’s panic.
You continued to chase him down the sidewalk and began to feel the aching in your legs. “God, I knew I should’ve been working out more.” You mumbled to yourself.
If it was possible, Duke actually sped up.
A few houses up, you watched a car pull into their driveway. “Oh great, a neighbor to embarrass myself in front of.” You thought to yourself. You tried to run faster to make sure Duke didn’t jump in the way of the moving car.
You were so focused on Duke, you didn’t see the man step out of the car. “Duke,” you called again.
The stranger stepped out of his car and saw an unknown woman running down the sidewalk after her dog. He let out a small chuckle to himself at your predicament.
You finally noticed the man when he bent down and started clapping to call Duke. Duke, always a people person, ran right in the stranger’s arms. “C’mere bubba,” the man said, successfully grabbing his leash and petting the dog.
You stopped running and were about five or ten feet away from the man. “Oh thank you so much,” you said quickly, while bending over to catch your breath. Your sides were aching.
“Are you okay?” The man asked you, almost amused. You nodded, not fully answering yet.
“Just not a runner,” you said in between breaths. The man had Duke’s leash securely in his hand, so you could stop worrying about it for one second.
When you had finally caught your breath, you walked over to the man. He was still on his knees and playing with Duke. “Hi, pal,” he said, seeming just as excited as Duke was.
“I bet you’re a good boy, yeah? But you probably freaked your momma out.” He said, while scratching Duke's side.
“Thank you again.” You said, looking down at the man. He looked up to meet your gaze and nodded. You finally took in some of his features, and realized how handsome he was. “I’m Chris, by the way.” He introduced himself, holding out the hand that wasn’t holding the leash.
You smiled and introduced yourself. You reached out to shake his hand and felt a shiver run down your spine at how strong his hand felt.
He carefully took the leash off of his hand and helped wrap it around your hand. “He’s a gorgeous dog.” He said, bending down to pet Duke again.
“Thank you. He seems to really like you.” You told him as you looked at the giddy expression on Duke’s face.
“He reminds me of my dog, Dodger. They’re both just as hyper.” He told you, standing up to look you in the eyes again. You giggled to yourself. “What? I totally didn’t take you as a dog guy” you teased.
The joke caught Chris off guard. When it finally clicked what you had said, a giant laugh came out of his mouth, and he clutched his chest. “Guilty as charged,” he said, still laughing.
Neither one of you could get the smiles off of your face. You both seemed to be stuck giggling and looking into each other’s eyes.
Then, there was a loud crack of thunder and it began to downpour. You both jumped at the sudden cold rain pouring over your body. “Oh shit,” you swore to yourself. Duke began playing in the rain, trying to catch all the falling drops with his tongue. “C’mon,” Chris said, gesturing for you to follow him. You ran after him with Duke.
Chris pulled you both under his porch, saving you from the rain. “You wanna come inside and hang out til it stops?” Chris asked, having to yell over the rain.
You nodded your head and followed behind him. He opened his front door for you and let and Duke walk inside. You wiped your shoes off on the doormat and stepped inside. “Do you have a towel that I can wipe his feet off with? I don’t want him to ruin your carpet.” You asked, turning to Chris as he wiped the water droplets off his face.
“Yeah, of course,” He nodded and jogged towards another room. You waited there patiently. Chris came back with a grey towel in his hand. You took it from him and thanked him. “Is Duke good with other dogs? I can get Dodger and they could play together.” Chris suggested.
You quickly nodded and smiled at him. “That would great, Duke loves other dogs.” You told him.
When Chris came back, Dodger was slowly walking behind him. He seemed hesitant as he walked over to Duke. They both sniffed each other for a second, then Dodger jogged over to his basket of toys.
“Go see, Duke” you said, pointing over at Dodger. Duke followed after him and they quickly began playing tug of war. You and Chris both laughed at how quickly they had started playing.
“While the kids play, I have some beer the adults can have.” Chris said, looking towards you.
Your eyes lit up at his suggestion. “Oooo yes please,” you said, smiling. You followed him to the kitchen and waited as he grabbed two beers out of the fridge.
He opened a bottle for you and handed it to you, “here’s your prize for second place.” He said. You took the bottle from him, but furrowed your eyebrows in confusion. “Second place in what?” You asked taking a sip of the beer.
“That race down the street,” he said, chuckling. You clutched your mouth as you nearly spit out of your drink. “Way to hit a girl when she’s down” you joked, giggling over the joke.
“You’re right. You put in a lot of effort. Good job. Here’s to…” he said, trying to come up with something to drink to. Your mind automatically came up with an idea. “Getting caught in the rain,” you replied.
A smile grew on his face as he looked at you. “To getting caught in the rain,” he agreed.
You were already head over heels for this guy that you only known for less than an hour. It wasn’t something you would normally do, but he was charming and sweet and he even liked your dog.
You both clinked your glasses together. As you both took a sip, you held eye contact that lasted for longer than it should have. There was a glimmer in his eyes that mesmerized you.
“So, are you new to the neighborhood? I’ve never seen you around.” He asked, knowing he never could have forgotten seeing your face. You shook your head. “No, I’ve lived here for a few years now. I didn’t really walk around the neighborhood until I got Duke. I’m never at any of the neighborhood block party things though either, just not my scene. I would much rather hang out at home.” You replied.
He nodded his head along as you spoke. You had never had someone listen so intently to every word that came out of your mouth.
“Yeah, I’m with you on that one. I spent more nights home with Dodger than out partying. I go on walks with him sometimes or I’ll jog around the neighborhood, but that’s kinda it.” He told you.
You couldn’t help the fact that your imagination lingered to the thought of Chris shirtless and jogging past your house. Just the thought made you excited.
“I’ll have to keep an eye out.” You said, not being able to get rid of the smile on your face. Chris nearly choked on his beer when he heard what he perceived as a flirty comment. He almost thought he imagined the twinkle in your eyes when you said it. He was sure he was just overanalyzing though.
You guys kept talking for what felt like hours, getting to know each other. Clearly, Chris was charming, but he was also just a really nice guy.
Finally, you both looked over and noticed that Duke and Dodger were both laying on the floor panting and exhausted from their previous activities.
“Clearly, I need to come here everyday just to wear Duke out, so he doesn’t pull me down the street again.” You said, giggling and looking over at Chris. He jumped on the opportunity to spend more time with you.
“Dodger would love that. I’m sure he’d love a friend to play with. I wouldn’t mind the company either.” He said, testing the waters.
You felt your stomach do a flip. Did he really just say that?
“Oh, really?” You asked him, as you felt the butterflies swarming inside of you. Chris suddenly seemed shy as he smiled and looked at the ground.
“I’m not going to beat around the bush anymore. I think you’re really fun to be around, and you’re obviously drop dead gorgeous.” He said, matter-of-factly.
Before you could respond, Chris stepped closer to you and cupped your face with one of his hands. You felt jittery as you looked into his eyes right before closing your eyes and connecting your lips.
His lips were surprisingly soft against yours. You let him pull you closer to him, and your bodies became pressed up against each other. You rested your hands on his chest as you kissed him. His cologne filled your lungs and reminded you of pine forests.
You pulled away for a quick breath, and when Chris pulled you back into the kiss, he slipped his tongue into your mouth. You felt like the room was spinning.
The kiss got more and more heated since both of you couldn’t resist each other. You tugged against his shirt, keeping his close to you. His tongue lightly flicked against yours, teasing you. His free hand began to caress your side, drawing little circles with his fingers.
You both didn’t separate until Duke nudged his nose into the back of your knee, causing your knee to buckle. Chris wrapped his arms around your waist and kept you from falling.
“Hi, buddy,” Chris said, looking at Duke and then back at you, “he’s protective over his momma.” You giggled, nodding your head.
“So…” you said, referencing what you both had been doing before being interrupted. Chris chuckled to himself, and his cheeks turned a little red. “Yes, about that. How about I take you out to dinner tomorrow night?” He asked you, looking into your eyes with a hopeful look.
“I would really like that. I mean it’d be a shame after a kiss that good to not try this out.” You said, smirking to him. He let out another one of those full-body laughs that you saw earlier. “Yeah, it was a pretty great kiss.” He said, pecking your lips again.
Duke then nudged you again. “I think this guy would like to go home and take a nap. So, how about I give you my number and I see you tomorrow?” You suggested. Chris quickly nodded his head and pulled his phone out of his pocket.
You took the phone from his hand and opened up his contacts. “By the way, your picture of you and Dodger on your wallpaper is adorable.” You said, as you typed in your number. “Right? That’s what I said, and everyone else says it’s cheesy.” He agreed. You handed it back to him and smiled.
“You better call me. I know where you live.” You joked, still with a giddy smile on your face. He laughed at your joke, tucking his phone back in his pocket. “Oh, I promise I’ll be calling you. I’m not dumb enough to miss that opportunity.” He said, making your stomach flutter.
Chris walked you to the front door, where you hooked Duke back up to his leash. “Bye Dodger. It was nice to meet you.” You said, waving to the sleepy dog curled up on the couch.
“I’ll see you tomorrow,” you said, smiling up at Chris. He leaned down to softly place a kiss on your lips. “I’ll be looking forward to it.” He replied.

[3:24pm] jeongwoo’s hand rests on you lower back as he guides you out of the cafe’s entrance, he sends you a cute smile before grabbing your hand and lacing his fingers with yours.
the two of you begin walking down the street chatting about anything that comes to mind, your hands swaying gently between your bodies.
after a few minutes you feel a raindrop land on your cheek. “it’s starting to rain,” you mumble and try to walk faster. jeongwoo doesn’t match your pace and when you glance back at him you see him shake his head, “it’s probably just a few sprinkles,” he says. but as soon as he finishes his sentence it begins to pour.
“oh,” he mutters, frozen in place, eyes wide. you pull on your intertwined fingers and the two of you start running. making it to a bus stop, you sit down on the bench to catch your breath. “just a few sprinkles huh?” you smile at him cheekily.
your boyfriend rolls his eyes and sits down next you you, placing his hand on your thigh. “do you want to wait here until it stops?” he asks. you shrug in reply and look around, “that restaurant has some shelter.” you say pointing across the street.
“okay,” jeongwoo says, standing up. he holds his hand out to you and you grab onto it once more, “on three,” he tells you before counting, and then you’re both sprinting again.
reaching the awning in the restaurants entrance you look at your boyfriend and laugh, his hair is sticking to his forehead and water is slowing dripping down his nose. “don’t laugh at me,” he says, reaching up to move your own wet hair from your cheeks. jeongwoo leans forward and places a quick kiss on your forehead, “lets go,” he says motioning to another bus stop further up the street.
“maybe we should wait the storm out, jeongwoo.” you say tugging on his arm. “nah,” he grins, “this is fun.” you roll your eyes, and before you can protest you’re being pulled into the rain once more. while you’re running through a particularly large puddle you feel yourself slip up and you let out a small scream. jeongwoo catches you by your elbow and laughs, “don’t laugh at me,” you repeat his earlier words. “sorry, baby” he mumbles, but he has a huge smile on his face.
your boyfriends smile is contagious and one forms on your face as well. the two of you are now standing on the sidewalk in the middle of a storm grinning at each other like love sick puppies.
with water running down your faces you giggle and lean forward, pressing a kiss onto jeongwoo’s lips. he laughs before pulling you closer and kissing you again, his hand resting on the back of your head. soon enough the two of you are smiling so much it becomes difficult to keep your lips attached.
“this is kind of romantic, no?” jeongwoo smiles, moving his hand to your cheek, smoothing his thumb across your skin.
“just like in the movies,” you reply.

Safe place - Ruhn Danaan
I've been re-reading hosab so I can enjoy the third one and I'm extremly frustrated at the lack of Ruhn fics, so here is my own. It's shitty, it's late and it's not proof-read.
Plot: the autumn king tries to hurt you with his words and actions, but Ruhn is always there to help you up.
You had known it would be hard.
You had known, for a while, that the dreadful day would come, that you would finally face the source of your anxiety and doubts, and that it would be hard.
But it had left you completely broken, as useless as he had described you. Standing outside the Autumn's King's villa, you didn't bother taking cover from the rain nor caring about the looks that granted you. You were too busy replaying the words over and over again in your head, remembering the sting on your cheek from his slap. You knew it would be hard, but meeting your mate's father had exceeded any expectation.
You had been summoned that morning with a brief letter, mentioning that the king wanted to meet you formally. Too busy worrying about what he would say or think, you hadn't noticed the reason behind the sudden decision — Ruhn was away with his Aux for the day, and wouldn't be back until night time. That left Declan and Flynn out of the equation, the only friends you had in that place.
So, when you had been hastily dragged out of his office like trash, when his hateful speech had broken through the walls, no one had said anything.
You choked on the next sob, not knowing what to do. Your shared apartment was more than an hour away walking, and it was pouring. Calling Bryce would be a terrible idea, since she didn't need another excuse to blow that place to pieces, and Hunt shared her feelings. You could always call a cab, but you were certain that none would answer.
The king wanted you out in the streets like a rat, and he would make it happen.
So you hugged yourself, ignored the bruises that were already forming on your forearm and lowered your head. Exiting the fairy territory was the worst part. Not only they didn't do anything about his king behavior, but made sure to force you to step out the sidewalk.
An attractive, tall woman spat at your feet as you walked by her side.
Your eyes full of tears and your heart in a knot, you didn't notice the shadows or the stares until Ruhn stopped in front of you, head to chest. Looking up, your lips trembled once more when you noticed the look on his face. The absolute murder on his beautiful blue eyes. They instantly noticed the angry cut made by his father's ring, the way you cradled your arm.
"It isn't worthy" you hiccupped, tired and devastated. "He isn't"
"You are" he growled back, the street almost covered in his angry, restless shadows. "You are my fucking mate and he has no right to even look at you"
"I just wanna go home"
You had been in that situation before — someone making a comment or a move about the obvious truth, that he was the prince and you were the half-human. That it was not supposed to be, because his fate was to be with someone better, more powerful, more talented. Not a half-human barista who barely managed to finish her studies and pay off her loans.
Each and every single time, Ruhn had gotten himself into trouble because of it. So many times, actually, that you had long ago stopped believing what they said. But it was different, because that time, it came from someone with the capacity of making it happen. Of keeping you away from Ruhn and taking the only light in your life away. Only thinking about it made your breath speed up.
"Flynn will take you home" Ruhn stared behind your shoulder, as if he could see his target.
"Ruhn, please. I just want to... Forget about it" you tried again, sneaking a hand forward until you could grab his. It was shaking from rage.
"And I want to talk to him. Just like he has talked to you" he snarled, not looking at you though holding your hand. "He thinks - he believes he can do this, he has always done it. But there are lines"
"There are lines for you too. Let's just -"
"Have you seen yourself, Y/N?" Rhun interrupted you. "Don't think I can't guess what he has said. He has touched you. He has kicked out of my home, because this is mine too. He has no right. None"
"He will do it again, if you give him a reason" you waited a few seconds in silence before squeezing his hand, looking at him through the pouring rain. "Ruhn"
His eyes finally dropped back to you, and he ran his tongue across his lip piercing. He knew what he needed, what he wanted. To scream back at his father so the whole Lunathion heard how worthy you were of him, how he was the one who had to keep up with you.
Ruhn wanted to finally act on his father, that had caused him so much harm, that had rejected his sister like a stray puppy. He wanted to kill him for even daring to summon you, knowing he wasn't around and your kind heart wouldn't recline.
He was tempted to do so, his eyes moving back and forth from your eyes to the scratch on your cheek. Even if he could imagine what had happened there, he had lived through enough to know it had been worse.
The only thing that kept him from breaking down his father's door and every bone was the urge of taking you away from that place. He hadn't thought about an umbrella or a car. After receiving Bryce call that you weren't home and having Declan track your phone, he had only one worry in mind - your safety.
And he had to ensure that first.
So he brushed off his soaked jacket and put it over your shoulders and head, big enough to cover you partially from the rain.
Without sharing another word, Ruhn draped his arm around your shoulders and tucked you into his chest, pressing a kiss to your forehead. He felt more than saw you trembling, enclosing your body around him like a perfect mold.
Yeah, he would kill his father for this. Just not tonight.
"How did you know?" you asked softly, while he scared away the few curious eyes that still looked at you with just one glare.
"I always know when you need me" he squeezed your shoulders, wishing it was different. "I'll always come"
"I hate him" you admitted, knowing the feeling was shared. "I hate what he said and did, but I hate more than he only cares about us because he wants to use you. I despise him"
There were few people you hated. That girl in fourth grade who cut your hair as you were trying to grow it longer. The cat of your neighbors, who snarled at you and tried to scratch you every time you saw her. People who started wars, maybe. But you were a kind-hearted person, and that had made Ruhn fall in love with you. Tired from all the hate and pain, you had been his salvation in a world where he was losing his soul.
What pained him the most was that, if it wasn't for his father's hidden intentions behind his dislike for your relationship, you wouldn't even hate him. You would shrug the hurt and sadness away, and keep going.
His father loathed that you were his mate, that he had a normal, healthy relationship with no political power. He wasted no occasion to throw him women and men that would be a great alliance to his family – and still, all Ruhn could do was search for your face in the crowd.
So different from each other, he could barely resist the urge of turning around and burning the whole place down. But he kept hugging you silently, gathering the strength to leave that place without turning back.
"Whatever he said, whatever came out if his poisoned mouth, was a lie. He can try and change us, but he won't" Ruhn felt the need to remind you, no matter how many times he had said it. "I love you, I've loved you since the first coffee and long after my body goes cold"
"I love you too, Ruhn"
“Couch and movie?”
Ruhn had planned a party, as he always did, for when he came back that night. But not even Declan and Flynn would argue with him, knowing he needed to stay with you just as much as you needed you. You nodded against his chest and he let you both be consumed by shadows and darkness.
He tugged you forward until you were nested against his side, and started walking. The shadows covered you from the worst part of the rain as you walked in silence, tucked together.
No matter how much his father hurt you, how much he used Ruhn, there was something he could never change – that you were his home.

Your Secret Admirer
Female Yandere x Reader
Tumblr media
Part 2
Late one rainy night, you help a young woman on your way home from work, but she seems strangely familiar...
[tw: knives] no blood mentioned
Part 1
===========
It was late. You should've clocked out hours ago, but your jerk boss made you stay to cover for his nephew. Who, of course, was "sick" again. Which was code for: "Too hungover to come into work, just like every other Monday."
It was pouring when you reached your stop, but luckily, you'd remembered your umbrella like a responsible adult. There was a chill in the air that made everything seem just a little bit more miserable, but you trudged on anyway. Changing out of your work clothes and into your comfy pajamas always helped you wind down after a bad day.
The streets were about as empty as you'd expect from this time of night, save for the occasional car that rushed by threatening to douse you as they hit every puddle. You were about halfway home when you noticed something... odd.
There was a woman standing on the sidewalk, facing the road. She was soaked from the downpour, her long, dark hair clinging to her face.
At first, you barely paid her any mind. But the closer you got to her, the more your mind started racing. Why was she out so late at night? Why was she letting herself get so drenched? She wasn't really dressed for the weather either. She had to be cold... Did she have nowhere to go? Was she... trying to do something? She was about halfway to the curb... was she waiting for the right moment? The thought doused you like ice water, the fear and doubt somehow colder than the rain.
You were almost face to face with her when something was eating away at you. Guilt? Sympathy? A weird sense of responsibility for this stranger?
But the strangest thing nagging at the back of your mind was...
She looked... familiar?
You couldn't stop your body from stopping in front of her, doing your best to have your umbrella cover her, despite the fact that she was already soaked.
You always had a bit of a soft spot for helping people, even if it wasn't always the smartest idea.
You ask her if she's alright. She doesn't react.
Your mind kept racing. Was she homeless? She seemed well taken care of, her clothes looked nice if soaked through. Was she running from something, or someone? She looked maybe about your age, but... If she could go home why hadn't she?
You tried again, hoping she just hadn't heard you over the rain hitting the fabric of your umbrella. When she finally lifted her gaze to yours, that same feeling of familiarity kept on poking you in the side while you were trying to focus on the scene before you.
She stared into your eyes, and her breathing seemed shaky.
She needed help, maybe, but what could you do? You told her that your phone was almost dead, but you could walk with her somewhere safer. Somewhere she could call someone? Maybe you could walk her home? You offered, hoping she had somewhere to go at all.
You could feel your back getting wet from trying to cover her more than yourself. She smiled, but it seemed off, almost... bitter. When she finally spoke, it was almost drowned out by the downpour hitting the concrete.
"You're... being so nice."
You smiled back, trying your best to comfort her, still running through possible solutions you could offer... What you could do for her...
Would it be nuts to take her back to your apartment? You wonder. To offer a warm shower and a change of clothes while you throw hers in your dryer? She was a stranger, sure, but she obviously needed help. It was only a couple blocks away... she could get dry and then you could get some real answers out of her to figure out what to do next.
You end up making the offer and wordlessly, she agreed. All with that same sad look in her eyes. She clung to you all the way home, holding onto your arm with a death grip.
You fiddle with your keys at the door, all too aware of how the welcome mat is getting soaked. Hurrying in, you go to grab her a towel.
She followed after you, trailing water all the way. She didn't make a move to take it from you, so you took a chance and carefully draped it over her shoulders, starting to work it against her hair. You watch for any sign of discomfort or sign that she'd want you to stop, but no such sign ever came.
You guide her to the bathroom, handing her more towels.
You tell her if she hands you out her clothes, you'd be happy to throw them in the dryer. After a hot shower and a set of your clothes for her to change into, you pass them through the crack in the door, telling her you're leaving to make her a warm drink.
"No!"
She'd grabbed onto your wrist so tightly. The desperation in her voice, her breath hitching as she trembled, all of it made you pause, unsure what to do.
"Sorry, I just..."
She let go with a tired sigh, her face appearing the in crack of the door. Her hair clung to her face as steam rolled out into the hall, you quickly looked away when you saw a hint of the white fluffy towel below her bare shoulders, her hand clasping it tightly to her chest.
"Stay... I mean, would you p-please... stay close? " she stuttered, her eyes cast to the floor in... shame? Embarrassment? "Just... in the hall? Outside the door?"
Was she scared you would leave? Or had you become the barrier between her and whatever she was running from? You promise her you won't go go anywhere, and she seems to relax a little. You keep your back to the wall beside the door and your eyes forward, not wanting to betray the little trust she'd decided to put in you.
You couldn't lie, she was pretty, and the sight of her in your clothes didn't hurt that AT ALL. But she was trusting you. To be thinking of her like... that? It was neither the time nor the place.
She sat on the couch beside you with a hot mug of tea, and she looked down into it with that same sad expression.
"Thank you. You've been so... nice to me. I never thought that I'd be treated like this."
By you? By anyone? You don't notice her hand reaching for yours until her fingers brush against your own. You didn't think of it as anything but her looking for safety, but the look she was giving you was telling you otherwise.
You told her she doesn't have to do that, trying to be vague enough as not to embarrass her. But she just smiled that sad, bitter smile. She set the mug down on the side table, her fingers gently caressing yours.
"... All I ever wanted was... someone to see me. Only me. What they saw or how they felt about me, it didn't really matter. But you're so... worried. So... thoughtful."
She sounded almost... upset, the last word weighed down with so much regret, it threw you.
You asked her if that was a bad thing, and she just smiled.
"When I see you... it's like everything just... makes sense. Like my whole life has just been cold and dead. No one... sees me."
Before you could ask what she meant by that, she squeezed your hand, bringing it up as she gently pressed your fingers to her lips. You couldn't help but feel a little flustered, your face getting warm.
"I knew..."
She caressed your face, and you froze, unsure where any of it was going. Or if you wanted it to.
"I knew that when you finally saw me, it would be everything I ever wanted..."
She spoke like... she knew you? But that didn’t make any sense, you'd never met her before.
Right?
Something felt...odd. Alarm bells were ringing and you couldn't tell what had set them off.
The necklace she wore sat comfortably on top of your shirt. Soft, tiny white flowers trapped in resin, encircled in gold on a delicate chain. Something about it... About her.
You'd seen those eyes before... staring at you from the edges of your day-to-day life but never really in full view. The feeling you dismissed when the hairs on the back of your neck stood on end, the same feeling you got whenever you found those weird gifts all over.
The trinkets and treats, the love notes that ranged from awkward confessions to clumsy retellings of fantasies you starred in...
And her necklace... the same tiny flowers were dried and pressed in a bookmark you'd found in the book you'd been reading one day.
Your eyes went wide, and she let out a shaky gasp. A wide, warm smile spread on her face as she got to her knees on the couch, swinging a leg over to seat herself in your lap.
"You see me now, don't you?" She smiled sweetly, holding your face in her hands. "I'm right here..."
You couldn't look away. All you could ask was the obvious question: Was it her?
A dark blush spread across her cheeks, her hands still holding your face to look only in her direction. "I needed this... I needed you to really see me. You stopped paying attention to my gifts, my notes... Did you like them? Did it... scare you?"
Your heart was beating too fast. You tried to move, to avert your eyes and figure out what to do, but she turned your face back, pressing into you, her thighs squeezed yours almost painfully.
"Tell me. Please, tell me... " She was breathing funny again. She hadn't blinked, like she didn't want to look away for even a moment.
You felt something pressing under your jaw, and it didn't click what was happening until you felt something sharp bite into your skin.
When did she get a knife? Was this her plan from the start, or had you done something to set her off?
You couldn't stop the fear that flashed across your face. But her reaction was somehow odder.
Her gaze on you softened as she bit her lip, blushing as her eyes glazed over. She let out a sweet, content sigh as she cupped your cheek in her hand. The pressure of the knife on your skin relaxed just a bit, but not enough to try and make a move.
You try to diffuse things, being honest with her. You didn't know who any of the stuff was from. You had no way of saying yes or no to her feelings, so you were waiting for her to show up in person. It felt rude to leave her a note back with something so serious, you wanted to do things right.
"But you ignored me..." Her face was suddenly calm, the blush and soft, adoring eyes went back to the cold stare she'd had in the rain in an instant. "You looked right at me and you saw nothing... I was nothing..."
You try and reassure her, telling her that it wasn't true, if only to calm her down. Her fingers worked into your hair, the sensation giving you goosebumps you couldn't fight. Your startled gasp choked into a hiss of pain behind your teeth when she yanked you closer by your hair. Her face was so close to yours you could feel her breath on your face.
You glared at her before you could stop yourself and that look was back. It was like she was completely smitten with it, with you.
"When you see me... really see me... I can't stop myself. It's so... wonderful. I've been empty for so long, but that fear in your eyes... How much you just despise me... Your smiles and laugh, all of it's a part of you."
She leaned to whisper into your ear. It sent chills down your back.
"Little pieces of you filling up that empty space... You can't take it away from me again..."
Her long, dark hair spilled onto your shoulders, it smelled like your shampoo. You close your eyes, tucking your chin into your chest in a desperate attempt to pull away. It was all too much.
"No... no, please. Don't..." You could hear her plead, her voice wavering with fear and desperation so intense it haunts you. "Love me, hate me, anything! Just don't look away. I can't go back to how it used to be... Please..."
You open your eyes again, afraid what would happen if you didn't. She smiled, it seemed so sweet and gentle, coldly contrasted by the knife in her hand.
"There you are..." she let out a little gasp, pressing her forehead to yours. "I don't really want to hurt you, I promise. I'd be... all alone again. Everything about you... good or bad, it's all so, so precious to me..."
She kissed between your eyes, her lips lingered there too long. Your face felt warm, the fear in your gut was getting entwined with something else... Your thoughts were jumbled, all of it was too much. She sat up, looking down at you... Something about all of it, how close she was... her warmth, her words... She had a hold on you, and you didn't know what you wanted to do.
"I can be anything you need me to be."
She brought your hand to her lips, kissing the palm of your hand, all the while staring into your eyes. There was a devotion there that you'd never seen in your entire life. You couldn't breathe.
"Just..."
The knife pressed under your chin to lift it, but your gaze was already locked with hers.
"Look at me."

dazai often kept you home while he worked late. it was unusual, actually - he normally came home as soon as possible, even trying to get off work early because he has something else to do.. but he really just wants to see your face.
it was a bad night, really, he was kept inside the agency building while rain poured down roughly on the sidewalks. with just an umbrella, dazai tried to get to his place the fastest he could while you were curled up in a blanket waiting for the loud thunder to subside.
the thunderstorms in yokohama weren't terrible, but this one in particular made you just want to crawl under the tables and not come out until it was over.
so when dazai unlocked the door and opened it, he half expected you to run to him because he knew that the loud, inconvenient noises of the thunder bothered you, which was why he always tried not to make loud noises when he was with you.
he understood, too - he wasn't the biggest fan of thunder, but he didn't mind it. the only other reason he didn't like it was because it scared you. dazai would do something about the weather if he could, he'd do it in a heartbeat - but he couldn't, so he could try to console you instead.
dazai entered his home slowly, closing the door quickly behind him and locking it, just to be safe. he didn't full trust you, after all.
but he was quick to notice how instead of doing anything, you were on the sofa in the corner, curled in a blanket while covering your ears. usually, you'd hear when dazai came home, but this time, you only realized he was there because the door opened next to you.
"my dear, what's wrong? i'm here, the thunder can't hurt you.. what? don't look at me like that. nothing can possibly stain your beauty.. but i can't stand to see you upset, belladonna. i just love you!"
dazai was right, thunder couldn't harm you.. i mean, lightning could, but that wasn't really the issue at hand. the taller man bent down, grabbing your chin and pinching your face with his other hand. he thought you were just so cute when you were scared.
you did try to evade his touch - but lightning struck again, and seconds later, you heard a loud bang. dazai took his hands off your face and reached to hug you, but the thunder had shaken you up, causing you to jerk forward and into his arms. correction.. his chest, since he was taller, and standing up.
"ah, you're hugging me, darling, i thought this day would never come-!" dazai laughed, wrapping his arms around your frame and holding you closer, even while you tried to pull back after realizing that you were hugging him.
you wanted to yell at him to shut up - but another lightning bolt had struck, creating another loud noise. maybe it was nice, being held like this. it caused you to just hug him tighter. dazai just laughed at you, kissing the top of your head before sitting down next to you, pulling you down a bit so you could lay in his lap. he hadn't bothered taking his coat off, but it wasn't an issue.
he didn't do anything else.. he just sat there. his touch wasn't awful. maybe it wasn't that bad.
you and dazai sat there in silence. he would have commented on how you didn't do anything to get out of his hold, but he didn't want to spoil the moment. he didn't, and neither did you. it was somewhat comforting.

Early August, 2017
“Do you have to go?”
“I do. Or else I’ve wasted a lot of money on a flat and new furniture.”
It was pouring outside, but that didn’t stop you from standing in the drive of your boyfriend’s house. Your car was packed to the brim with belongings, not leaving any space to see out the rear windscreen. He was standing with you, his hair matted to his forehead from the rain. The air was a weird mix of cold and hot, or maybe it was just you.
You reached out to brush the locks back into place. As your hand fell back to your side, he caught it in his.
“Why’d ya have to go all the way to fuckin’ Harvard for uni?” Jamie asked loudly so you could hear him over the rain pounding on the sidewalk.
“Because they have the best Psychology program,” You explained, though you weren’t able to say it with your entire chest. Two years had been spent at the University of Manchester, and while you had dreamt of the opportunity to go to the United States to finish your degree at Harvard, you never allowed yourself to believe it would actually happen. And now it was, with a full scholarship at that. While you were beyond excited, there was a lot to consider, and lot you were leaving behind.
Jamie, using your hand that he was still holding, pulled you towards him.
“I’m gonna miss the fuck out of ya,” He said gently, pressing his forehead against yours. You tried to smile playfully.
“It’ll pass. You’ll be too busy being a football star soon enough,” You muttered, averting his eyes. That was what had ruined the plan. Jamie had every intention to move to the US with you, even signing the lease to the flat with you and starting the process of packing up his belongings. What brought that to a screeching halt was the call from Man City.
They were putting him on the team. A starting striker, at that.
His days in the Ametuar League were finally behind him at the worst possible time.
Despite the immense pride you felt for him, you also were devastated over the change of plans. It was going to feel impossible. Going from seeing him every day to only seeing him when the both of you had the money and free time to travel internationally, which wouldn’t be as often as either of you would like.
The last year flashed through your mind. A lifetime was how long you had known Jamie Tartt, having been neighbors for as long as you could remember. But it was only just over a year ago that the festering feelings the two of you had been building for each other finally came to a head. He knew every piece of you, the good and the bad, and you him. The amount of laughs spent, the amount of tears on each other's shoulders, the amount of pointless arguments that ended with flowers from his mum’s garden scattered on your doorstep, they felt countless in this moment.
It still didn’t feel like enough time. You found yourself yearning for another hour. Even another minute.
“Any parting words?” You asked him, giving his hand a squeeze. He cocked his head to the side.
“You’re gonna kill it at uni,” He mumbled, taking another step closer so there were no steps left between you and him. “Don’t get in ya head too much. You’re better than all of ‘em.”
Despite the rain, you felt the warm dampness streaming down your cheeks. You tried to wipe away the tears, but they just kept falling.
“Are you still gonna call me before every match?” You asked, voice choked up from the pain. He looked so calm. Something about it killed you.
“I’ll have to, since ya won’t be at them.”
“What if you have a pa-“
“I’ll call ya over paint dryin’, if ya want.” You laughed, shaking your head. For a long moment, you stared at your car. The one that you were driving for the last time. It wasn’t all that long ago that Jamie went with you to pick it out. The memory was vivid in your mind.
“What am I going to do without you?”
This is where he kissed you, pulling you in with his hands pressed to your cheeks. The intention for both of you was clear: This kiss had to count, because who knows when you’ll get to do it again?
“You’ll always have me,” He said against your lips, as if he wasn’t knew he needed to say something but wasn’t ready to end the kiss just yet. he needed to speak but couldn’t bear to end the kiss. When his lips finally left yours, he smiled softly, though his eyes were wet. “I just won’t be next door anymore.”
Your teeth were chattering while staring at him, but you didn’t complain. The anxiety ate away at your chest.
Though the redness in his eyes suggested it wasn’t the time, Jamie laughed as he opened the door to your car, giving you a sad smile as he rested his hand on the rim of the doorframe.
“Can’t stand here all day, can we?” He said quietly.
It was overwhelming how real it all became in that moment. You threw your arms around his neck, his arms instinctively wrapping around your torso. His clothes were soaked through, as were yours. There wasn’t a single part of you that wasn’t unaffected by the rain, but you couldn’t seem to allow yourself to get in the car.
Suddenly, Jamie was moving, forcing you to go with him. Your feet backed up as he moved himself forward so you wouldn’t fall. Your knees hit the side of the driver’s seat, and suddenly Jamie was lowering you down.
“You’re gonna miss ya flight.”
You shook your head before saying, “I’m gonna miss you.”
He closed his eyes as he said, “I’ll miss ya too.”
The pain was searing through your chest and down your back as he shut the door. You were desperate for one last kiss, but you knew what his eyes were telling you. One more would just lead to two. And then three. And then you would never leave.
Finally, after lagging behind for too long, you turned the engine to the car on, your hands working in slow motion while you shifted into reverse. As you drove away, Jamie walked out into the street and waved. You wondered if he would run after the car, and found yourself disappointed when he didn’t. Instead, he continued to watch, hands in his pockets. Tears and rain water dripped onto the seat between your legs as you watched him through the rearview.
Jamie got smaller and smaller as you drove away, until the road began to slope, and he disappeared from sight.
~
Early August, 2020
You woke up alone.
The right side of your bed was empty. When you felt the sheets, they were cold, suggesting they had been bare for a while now.
With an arm holding the sheet to your chest, you sat up quickly. Your eyes were baggy and drooping, but you were alert.
“Jamie?”
Your feet hit the floor, which was no longer littered with his clothes, though yours still remained scattered. As you left the bedroom, you listened for any signs of life. Maybe he was simply having a shower, or making himself a bite to eat. But no such evidence could be heard. The only sound echoing through the flat was rain hitting the windows. Panic rose inside your chest.
“Jamie…”
In an instant, you were down the hallway and entering the living room.
Empty.
His shoes by the front door had disappeared.
He’s out to pick up coffee, or breakfast, you told yourself. Or maybe he just went for a walk to explore.
It wasn’t like him. To just disappear.
Although, the Jamie who had arrived on your doorstep the morning prior really wasn’t the Jamie you had known since you were in nappies.
Despite your nonexistent free time since starting your masters degree in sports psychology, you did your best to continue to follow Jamie’s rising football career on the other side of the Atlantic ocean. He was now quite the commodity in England, though still relatively unknown in the United States. It was strange, getting a different reaction from your university friends’ to your boyfriend versus from people back home.
As his stardom went up, however, your relationship with him seemed to do the opposite. It was now normal to go a week without hearing from him at all. A rare day in hell it was when he answered your phone calls, and usually they were brief. He didn’t keep his promise of calling before every match. In fact, he didn’t keep his promise of calling at all, because he simply didn’t. You tried to be understanding, but only so many excuses could be made for him, as you were also incredibly busy.
When an opening appeared in his schedule that aligned with your own, it felt like an Olympic event to convince him to make the trip. Once he finally agreed, that was when you began to feel excited, yet also anxious about it. It was, in your mind, a last ditch effort to save the relationship.
It wasn’t until this moment, as you came back from your thoughts, that you noticed his suitcase was also gone.
Sprinting back to your bedroom, almost tripping on the sheet multiple times as it covered your naked body, you ripped your phone from the wall. The tears had started leaking out long before you had the chance to hit his name to phone him.
Straight to voicemail.
Hanging up, you dialed again. Same result. When you tried to send a text, the text bubble immediately turned green.
Blocked.
Anger swallowed you whole, your chest heaving. Without really thinking about it, you dialed him again. It went to voicemail for a third time, but you didn’t hang up.
It’s Jamie. Don’t bother. I don’t care.
“So that’s it then?” You said to his voicemail box, knowing damn well he’d never receive it. “Twenty three years of friendship, just down the fucking drain? Never mind four years of that being in a fucking relationship. You piece of shit. You absolute fucking piece of shit.”
You stared at the floor, feverishly shaking your head.
“I guess the word from home about how much you changed is true. Never wanted to believe it but… I’ve been thoroughly enlightened, thank you.”
You swiped a hand against your cheeks.
“Are the cheating rumours true then too? Might as fucking well be, right? Fuck you, Jamie. I really thought we could salvage this. When I saw you at the airport, I…” You were properly crying now, unable to hide the sobs from your voice. “All of those feelings came rushing back to me. I felt like I was nineteen again, and we were back home. Just two kids who loved each other. It felt that simple. Like all it took was seeing each other again to make things okay. Wrong again.”
You had run into his arms in picturesque movie fashion, and he had held you for a long time. Did he know then? Did he get off the plane knowing he was going to destroy you?
You straightened your back out and cleared your throat.
“Don’t worry. I don’t fucking need you. And you’ll never hear from me again. Fuck you, Jamie Tartt. Absolutely fuck you. I deserve so much better than this.”
Once the call ended, you threw your phone on the bed and allowed yourself to feel it all, the anger and melancholy washing over you like a wave crashing onto the coastline in a thunderstorm. Bum hitting the floor, you curled your knees to your chest and rested your forehead on them. Your entire body shook with tears, and it stayed that way for a solid hour before you stiffly stood and moved to your bed.
That was the last time you tried to get a hold of Jamie, though it was not the last time you thought of him.
And as life moved on, you never ended up seeing him again.
Until now.

In honor of my eras show (post concert depression is real.. experiencing cincy n2 is the highlight of my life.) being this week and the 4th ofc! ❤️🪩🎆
Tumblr media
The way you move is like a full on rainstorm and I'm a house of cards
You're the kind of reckless that should send me runnin'
But I kinda know that I won't get far
And you stood there in front of me, just close enough to touch
Close enough to hope you couldn't see what I was thinkin' of
“Y/N! C’mon!” you heard Tee call to you from the water. You were sat on the edge of the boat sipping on your drink of choice and choosing the next song that would play through the speakers. Tee, Ja’Marr, Sam, and of course Joe along with their respective girls were in the water while you had chosen to dry off instead - after all it was getting late and you had swam earlier. The early July sun cast a perfect orange glow over the lakehouse you and Joe called home during the offseason. The two of you had been together for years now, meeting during his Ohio State days.
You laughed. “No chance, the water is too cold. Any of you want another drink?” you asked as you finally looked over at them.
Joe swam over to the edge of the boat, pulling himself up. He grabbed a towel as he spoke, the orange glow highlighting his blue eyes. “Wouldn’t mind another one.”
Drop everything now, meet me in the pouring rain
Kiss me on the sidewalk, take away the pain
'Cause I see sparks fly whenever you smile
Get me with those green eyes, baby, as the lights go down
Give me something that'll haunt me when you're not around
'Cause I see sparks fly whenever you smile
My mind forgets to remind me you're a bad idea
You touch me once and it's really somethin'
You find I'm even better than you imagined I would be
I'm on my guard for the rest of the world
But with you, I know it's no good
And I could wait patiently, but I really wish you would
A short time later you were curled up in one of the chairs on the patio, sitting on Joe’s lap with a blanket draped over you as you roasted marshmallows. It wasn’t quite dark enough for the fireworks the boys had gotten yet. Though you had insisted it probably wouldn’t end well, it was the Fourth of July and of course Tee and Ja’Marr couldn’t be swayed.
Joe ran his thumb along your waist, rubbing small circles absentmindedly. He was engrossed in a conversation with Sam, something about Travis Kelce. Ja’Marr butted in.
“Buds all talk, 3-1 and all he can do is run his mouth,” he looked annoyed but Joe just laughed, his smile growing. You were captivated by him still somehow, the way his smile trickled into his eyes and those smile lines. You just smiled softly, finally tearing your eyes from him and laid your head back on his chest as you finished your s’more as the boys continued to talk.
“Guys did you really need this much?” you let out a laugh as the boys set up their fireworks. They’d lined the dock with them and although you joked, you loved fireworks so you weren’t complaining.
“Too many options, we couldn’t decide,” Sam chuckled.
“He’s right.. Fuck it go big or go home right?” Tee shrugged as he set the last firework into place.
“No, I think she’s right honestly but.. Go for it,” Jess, Sam’s girlfriend, laughed beside you.
Joe took his place next to you on the patio finally, slipping his arm around your waist and pulling you close. You leaned into his body, the subtle smell of his cologne filling your senses. Tee and Ja’Marr stayed down to light the fireworks and make sure your house stayed uh.. standing and not on fire while Sam rejoined Jess.
I run my fingers through your hair and watch the lights go wild
Just keep on keepin' your eyes on me, it's just wrong enough to make it feel right
And lead me up the staircase, won't you whisper soft and slow?
I'm captivated by you, baby, like a firework show
As the fireworks went off, lighting up the sky and the water below, you glanced over at your boyfriend. His face was lit up, fully engrossed in the fireworks. You could swear that even after years together, his gorgeous smile and ocean-blue eyes seemed to draw you in. You seemed to fall more in love with him everyday and as you sat there now, with the people both of you loved most at your home, enjoying this holiday - you couldn’t imagine ever wanting anything else.
Drop everything now, meet me in the pouring rain
Kiss me on the sidewalk (Ah-ah), take away the pain
'Cause I see sparks fly whenever you smile
Get me with those green eyes, baby, as the lights go down
Give me something that'll haunt me when you're not around
'Cause I see sparks fly whenever you smile
And the sparks fly
Oh, baby, smile
And the sparks fly
