I've thought about my whole "Asa having abandonment issues" post more and came up with something.

It's less Asa scared of Arkin leaving and more like he's waiting for it. I suppose? Like, Asa wouldn't blame Arkin for leaving him. Everyone around him tends to leave eventually, and the common denominator is Asa himself.

He has such an awful self image at times and doesn't think he deserves the love that Arkin shows him. Asa doesn't exactly push him away, but if he gets the feeling that Arkin is upset with him or is spending less time with him or is interested in someone else (platonically or romantically) he'll think, "Welp, it is what it is". Asa kinda distances himself from Arkin so he can give him some space, all while also trying to get closer? Idk it's confusing. At one moment, Asa refuses to leave Arkin's side, and then the next, he'll ignore Arkin and busy himself in his work.

thinking about an asexual friend group going on a camping trip to crystal lake and jason just being like. extremely chill the whole time. like, jason voorhees only starts killing when young adults start fucking, and what if they didnt fuck, then what?

imagining this lake zombie chilling in the shadows near a campfire, listening to these asexuals talk about their experiences, and as soon as the concept of being sex repulsed comes up, he just emerges from the bushes and sits down with them. hes just sets the machete down and quietly listens. nods a little from time to time. grabs the mechete when somebody brings up not hating sex, but sets it back down because hes enjoying the conversation.

i think after that jason would just hang out in the woods near the camp. wave back when the campers notice, but not interact again because hes never done that, and be a little sad when they go. he doesnt stop murdering people who fuck by his lake, but he does remember those people he didnt murder that one time very fondly.

and that asexual friend group leaves thinking "man, that super scary nonverbal guy looked and smelled like shit. pretty sure he was a lake monster. super nice though, hope hes here next summer :)"
