ACOSF, except that Nesta refuses to move to the House of Wind and packs her bags to leave to the "human lands", but instead of actually going there, she stops at the Spring Court and kinda forces Tamlin to take her in. After all, Spring is close enough to the human lands and she's sure none of the IC would look for her Spring.
She and Tamlin clash at first, but then Nesta tells him that Feyre wanted to lock her in the House of Wind for "her own good" and Tamlin has to take a walk outside the house to not break anything because what the fuck? Those people haven't forgiven him for locking Feyre up to protect her and make him miserable because of it, but suddenly it's okay when they do it? Unbelievable.
They drink together and bond over the Night Court's hypocrisy, how they were treated by them, and Feyre. They start living together. Tamlin plays the music and Nesta dances to it. They spend time in silence in his library or taking relaxing strolls around the garden. Nesta does more healing there that she could've done in the House of Wind. Eventually, she and Tamlin become good friends.
Oh, and she meets Eris again and they actually get to know each other outside the Night Court's machinations. They have a slowburn romance and get married eventually, turning Nesta into the High Lady of Autumn. She helps Tamlin rebuild his court and strikes an alliance between both courts, and she thrives with positive relationships and a man that genuinely loves her and doesn't try to change her.
Also Lucien makes up with Tamlin and returns to Spring, adding him to Nesta's friendship circle.

acotar fandom really is just full of normal people because someone in the subreddit today said tamsand would be the most popular ship in literally any other fandom and ykw... they're right. 10000% correct.

I desperately need a scene where the IC are having dinner and the topic of tamlin gets brought up and they start talking shit about him and going on about how he deserves everything thats happening to him and lucien’s just sitting there gripping his fork, jaw twitching, eyes simmering, hands shaking with rage as he tries so hard to keep his mouth shut because now is not the time to say something stupid—but they just keep talking and talking and talking until eventually he has enough and gives everybody a vanserra style telling off 😁.

“Feyre reached out so much she invited nesta to live with her after the war 🥺🥺🥺” in the house with feyre’s mate who’s made his hatred of nesta no secret and constantly harasses her? the house filled with paintings of everyone but nesta? imagine seeing that visual reminder of how little your sister cares for you every. day. DAMN. as an act of reaching out/reconciliation it sucks because it wasn’t one. we need to recognize and respect that as the absolutely sick psychological warfare it was. feyre archeron i tip my hat to you because that was insane.

This is going to be my last post about this but I was talking to someone who said that “oh all character weeks and ship weeks do this where they don’t allow certain ships or characters involved. Banning Tamlain from Elain week isn’t something new”.
I literally went to Feyre week and there was no rule about banning Feytam specifically from Feyre week. Feyre, who was canonically hurt by Tamlin. People who ship Feytam also know it’s not the place to post Feytam on Feyre week because the shippers actively understand their ship and are comfortable with it for their own reasons.
Edit: And Elain hasn’t even INTERACTED with Tamlin, why do you care if people ship her with him?
You don’t have to like certain ships or characters. So don’t have to see eye to eye with the people who like Tamlin or explain his actions and have sympathy for him. But stop putting your own personal experiences and beliefs onto others because these are FICTIONAL CHARACTERS! Tamlin isn’t real, Elain isn’t real, etc etc.
What up with dictating what people like? Having this weird policing of fanon and art and fanfics that people create? It’s weird as hell. I swear some of you people have never been in a fanbase before this.

My face after stumbling across a fanfic where the Ao3 author decided to have ACTIVE PLANTATIONS & PLANTATION WORKERS…in The Spring Court…under Tamlin’s rule…oh & the kicker?…Tamlin is mated to a black man/male…who is the black man/male he’s mated to in the fic you ask?…TARQUIN!!!!…high lord motherfucking Tarquin…two characters who’s morals & ideologies go against the very notion of allowing the continuation of slavery & you write a short story fanfic that includes plantations & plantation workers?!!
Tumblr media
Y’all im so mad! I don’t ever judge people’s fanfics but this one to me was just insane, especially because it’s a Nesta based fanfic & so it just felt sprung out of nowhere

I'm just gonna say it, ACOMAF Tamlin's outburst is literally a panic attack and it has physical consequences for Feyre BECAUSE OF MAGIC
irl, without magic, Tamlin couldn't have even done that
Also Feyre was only able to shield herself from a magic outburst (not a physical attack) BECAUSE OF MAGIC

Maybe Tamlin was pissed about Feyre's pregnancy because no one came to ask him if he couldn't just drop by for 5 seconds and shapeshift the babies wings away for the birth.
Like, it's his power. He's a high lord. He could easily change the appearance of that child in her womb for a few hours.
But nah, they rather risk her dying.

Tamlin is actually such an underrated character in acotar. Because of feyres very biased narrative she forces readers to ignore the complexity of his character and man. its sad
Tamlin is a character who is genuinely GOOD at his core. He changed so much of the spring court for good, eliminating slavery within the spring lands and mortals having more protection. Hes a morally good character that made a few mistakes and is boiled down to just those mistakes. Locking feyre in the house and the magical/emotional blow up, which are both pretty decent fuck ups (i dont think siding with hybern fully counts as he was a double agent all along and tamlin was decently justified in thinking feyre was being kept against her will. lets be fr here) and even after he’s extremely fucked over by the nightcourt, his lands and court burned to shit, he still saves rhysand. Saves rhysand and tells feyre to be happy, even when he has every reason to NOT do that!
Hes a character that clearly holds himself to a higher standard. throughout acotar he puts lucien and feyres safety above his own, even sending feyre away when she was the only one who could save him. Even though what he did to her wasnt great its not completely irredeemable, rhysand did much worse things to feyre and other people but hes living his best life while Tamlin seems to find himself unworthy of being a person (acosf wheres hes been in beast form for roughly over two years) hes a perfectionist who now doesnt even think he deserves anyone because he accidentally hurt the people he loves most.
Sjm accidentally created a beautifully rich and morally righteous character who is so extremely fucked by the narrative. Which doesnt even work half the time as sjm cant seemingly commit to making him a full villain (seemingly by accident again she gave him quite a reasonable explanation to everything he did ‘wrong’ but still chooses to make him a punching bag)
If Tamlin was genuinely a morally evil character he wouldnt have NEARLY the amount of fans as he does. Hes a character that requires the minimum amount of media literacy and comprehension to understand and i LOVE him.

The more I go over Rhysand and Tamlin's interactions in the books the more it seems to me that Rhysand acts like Tamlin's scorned ex that can't accept he's moved on from him. Like, not even Feyre thinks so much about him and she's the actual ex, the one Tamlin hurt deeply.
And yet, we have Rhysand going out of his way to torment Tamlin and insert himself in his life when the man doesn't even spare him a thought, as far as we know.

Genuine question but how can you reconcile acknowledging Tamlin's red flags and knowing that Feylin becomes abusive while also shipping it in the first book?
Uh huh. All right, I’ll humor you.
Essentially, I love BATB retellings and Feylin, in book 1 where I ship it, is just that. It is no better or worse than a BATB retelling in a world with fae can be, and this works because Sarah isn’t trying to sell book 1 Feylin's relationship as healthy or frankly as anything other than a retelling of a popular fairytale a fairytale that has been scrutinized for Stockholm syndrome and the like. The rest of the books, aside from being very different in characterization, worldbuilding, tone, theme, and overall being very disjointed, retconned-filled continuations of the first book, also are hypocritical in the discussion of domestic violence, attacking said fairytale retelling for failing to meet real world standards of what a healthy relationship is (something it could never do as it was, again, a retelling of a fairytale that’s KNOWN to not be 100% healthy) while simultaneously propping up ANOTHER retelling-based-relationship as the ~healthier option~ despite it likewise being incapable of truly meeting our standards of healthiness and morality. The fandom often insists on critiquing Tamlin’s “red flags”, proclaiming Feylin was unhealthy and doomed from the beginning, but if the same treatment is done back to Rhysand and Feysand then the fandom’s tune becomes “how dare you use real world morality to critique their relationship???” Feysand literally begins with Rhysand mind-raping Feyre and then molesting her for months UTM??? Which is much worse than ANYTHING Tamlin ever did in the first book? If this series, and this fandom, truly cared about abuse as a theme then both Feylin and Feysand would be correctly critiqued as abusive, as neither of the fairytales they’re based on and are retelling are healthy. So that’s where I come in, and I correctly call them both toxic. But the fandom at large and the books don't do this, and the real world standards injected in the second book are deemed only applicable to Feylin, the BATB retelling, and not Feysand, the Hades and Persephone retelling. So I won’t judge my ship in the ***first book*** based on standards that were included ***later*** in the series and that are applied hypocritically to them alone and no other relationship. As I’ve said before, it’s very clear from the way no other major relationship in this series is critiqued by the same standards that abuse, domestic violence, and red flags were only discussed as themes solely to discredit their relationship, not least of all because it’s incredibly hard to apply real world standards to every character in a fantasy series without everyone being labeled unhealthy or problematic to some degree, to say nothing about that difficulty increasing in a fairytale retelling specifically. Feylin in book 1 is a fantasy fairytale retelling and nothing more; it’s not trying to comment on abuse. The rest of the books do, but hypocritically by only holding one retelling-based-relationship accountable for failing to meet real world standards of healthiness and morality instead of critiquing them both. The hypocrisy ruins the rest of the series for me (and has me side-eye a lot of the fandom for not caring about one relationship being analyzed by real world standards and the other one getting a pass and being labelled healthy anyway), so I simply prefer to enjoy book 1 and the relationship therein as an (imperfect) standalone fantasy.

Can you imagine lucien opening the door to his manor only to find all his belongings from the spring court dumped on his doorstep essentially signifying that tamlin really doesn’t want him coming back and that any effort to reconcile their friendship is done and gone. What he doesn’t know is that tamlin is completely internalizing all the shitty things rhys said to him about deserving to be alone for the rest of his life and this is him accepting and believing that he really does deserve to be alone, that this is his punishment and he deserves it ☹️☹️☹️.

More tamlin headcanons pretty pweeseeee bbygirl pretty pweeseeee
Well I can't ignore the bbygirl calling can !?
You did not specify any particular ship so I take this as free reign to write whatever the fuck I please about Tamlin.
Tamlin has curly hair, he just doesn't wear it out because his father forced him to keep it straight and short as a child, since long curly hair was considered 'girly'. His mother has curly hair and behind his father's back taught him how to take care of it. When he has his own daughter who has curly hair he passes on his mother's knowledge to her.
Tamlin's eyes glow in the dark. Lucien once shit himself because he walked into a dark room and just saw two green eyes staring at him.
Tamlin's power act out against him at times. Shapeshifting claws will cause his hands to bleed. Antlers will create a splitting migraine. Fangs will make his teeth ache. He is also prone to forgetting what his normal form is and getting trapped in a humanoid creature form that is not quite Fae, not quite Beast and not quite human.
Tamlin sleeps in Lucien's room A LOT because he runs cold at night and Lucien is basically his personal hot water bottle.
Azriel and Cassian didn't approve of Rhysand's friendship with Tamlin BECAUSE RHYSAND JUST BROUGHT HIM HOME ONE DAY AND WAR NEARLY BROKE OUT BECAUSE SPRING THOUGHT TAMLIN HAD BEEN KIDNAPPED AND CASSIAN AND AZRIEL HAD TO SNEAK TAMLIN BACK and they just really don't want that to happen again.
Tamlin and Rhysand were married for six months before they broke up, in that time Rhysand, in clear Rhysand fashion, had everything he owned put in both his and Tamlin's names so instead of doing things like Tamlin wanted to. Aka just have everything moved back into Rhysand's name. Rhysand wrote a list detailing everything that was Tamlins and what was Rhysand's (he did that to rub it in how they were FULLY AND COMPLETELY broken up) They sealed it in a bargain. Thing is Rhysand forgot to put the Moonstone Palace on the list. So Tamlin technically owns it, and because of the magic can come to claim it at any given moment, (that's also the real reason Rhysand wiped everyone's memories of Velaris).
Whenever Tamlin as a kid got a little too angry, Andras would grab him by his ankles and hold him upside down until he was calm. As an adult Tamlin is a little too big for that, but the lesson stayed and whenever he starts to lash out, all Andras has to do is reach for his ankles and Tamlin is scrambling away.
Once when Tamlin's back was turned to him, whilst he was staring out over the ocean, Lucien rushed at him to shove him into the water. Tamlin heard him coming and grabbed Lucien right as he went to shove him and tossed him into the sea. Lucien was not happy.
When he misses his mother, Tamlin climbs onto the tall oak in the middle of the gardens and sits in the branches. It was the tree him, his mother, and sometimes his brothers escaped too when his father made their life too hellish to remain inside. All their names are carved into the trunk of the tree.
When he was five years old, Tamlin's eldest brother gave him armour he wore in the War. It was one of the only nice things he ever did for him, and when he was first given them, Tamlin couldn't even pick up the breastplate. He wore the armour in the War against Hybern.
Tamlin can use his magical control of the wind and air to manipulate the weather. Sometimes in the dead of night, he will escape out to the forests with his fiddle and as he loses himself to his music his magic will react and cause terrifying thunderstorms.
Tamlin will have horrific nightmares of everyone he knows being tortured and killed by Amarantha, his father and brothers, or Rhysand. When he wakes up from them the first thing he will do is go to everyone's rooms and make sure they are still alive and sleeping soundly, this quickly became the only way to prevent him from having panic attacks after he wakes up. Since the destruction of his Court and everyone leaving him, Tamlin can't check on everyone and often has intense panic attacks, his mind convincing him the nightmares came true and everyone is dead.
Before he was High lord, Tamlin played in a small band in different taverns and out in markets. Once at a High lord's meeting, a Courtier attended who recognised him as the kid with the fiddle and the good voice and gushed to him about how much he loved his songs. Fully unaware Tamlin was the High lord of Spring. Everyone was very confused.
Tamlin likes to lay in Lucien's bed when he's gone. Tamlin sometimes also likes shapeshifting into a snake. Put the two together and you get to hear just how high-pitched Lucien's screams are.
Once a large pack of wolves descended on the Spring Manor, killed many livestock, were threatening to a lot of Fae. The sentries and Tamlin went to investigate. They found them hiding in the forests, but as the sentries went to fire and kill, they turned to see Tamlin nearly dying from cuteness as he gave one of the wolves belly rubs while saying "Who's a good boy??? You're a good boy!!!!! Yes you are!! Yes you are!!!" Now that pack of wolves follows Tamlin around and obeys his beck and call.
Tamlin does not like waking up early if he can avoid it. Lucien is always up early and goes downstairs to drink coffee and read his book. Tamlin does not like waking up and not seeing Lucien, so Lucien has taken to bringing his coffee upstairs and reading his book in bed. Now Tamlin wakes up nearly every morning to the smell of coffee and spice, Lucien's fingers in his hair, and seeing him enthralled in his book. Tamlin will not make a sound and just watches him while basking in the feeling of him stroking his hair.
Tamlin had a crush on Norstrus.

actually i talked about this w a friend a while ago but i think the whole acotar series couldve been improved sm more if all the fae were evil and fucked up and it was a silly little romcom instead of wtv the fuck sjm was going for
like imagine tamlin who has flowers growing over corpses in his garden 😋😋😋😍😍😍😍 or a rhys who makes stars to put in the sky after every kill he makes in another court (to cont a family tradition !!!) as a way to taunt every other lord... 🤩🤩 and they fall for this muscled runt of a woman who adds more bodies to both their collections. I mean like. itd still be better if it was sapphic. but still. this would improve the acotar series by a landslide
(also ending like iron widow's love interests :3c)
