POKESHIPPING WEEK 2024!

It's that time again, pokeshippers!

Last year, we announced that the format of Pokeshipping Week - one theme per day - was getting retired. We also said that we'd still put on a celebration of some kind going forward. Well, the time is here, and I'm happy to announce that we are planning a pokeshipping zine...next year!

If you'll forgive the bait-and-switch there, we have seriously talked about doing a zine, but time got away from us this summer. So, while we do hope to tackle that undertaking in 2025, for this year, we're planning what you might call an open Pokeshipping Week!

How does it work, you ask? Simple: over the years, you all have submitted a lot of potential themes for Pokeshipping Week. For every seven that got chosen each year, plenty were left behind. Well, now you can fill November 1 to 7 with art, fics, AMVs, GIFs, graphics, etc., all about our favorite Poke-couple, using any seven you'd like from the unused themes list.

Any and all contributions are welcome, and if they're tagged #pokeshipping week 2024, we'll reblog them here and on the main @pokeshipping blog. Besides Tumblr, we’ll keep our eyes out for the tag on Twitter and DeviantART for artwork, for fanfics on FF.Net and AO3, and for AMVs on YouTube (no NSFW, please).

ML X BNHA au (just me transplanting ML characters into BNHA world)

Marinette Dupain-Cheng/Ladybug

Quirk: Miracle (Marinette's body produces a type of red energy that uses her life force as a source. Marinette can use her energy to create physical objects that disappear after 5 minutes. She can also use her energy to heal cracks in objects and living beings, but this weakens her dramatically.)

Marinette is just a normal girl from China (Her Dad moved to China instead of her Mom moving to France) with a normal life. And a hero level quirk. Her father's bread catalyst quirk and her mother's chi flow quirk combined to make Marinette's Miracle quirk, which was deterimined by scientists to be one of the strongest powers in Beijing. It was decided, not by Marinette, that she would become a Pro-Hero and attend a Hero school of her choice to develop her powers. Marinette, who just wanted to be a fashion designer, decided to go to the Japanese school U.A. as a way to spite the Chinese order of guardians that decided to rip her from her dream, and also to see more of the world for artistic inspiration. During her first day in Japan, Marinette saw a ladybug that inspired her hero name, Ladybug; the fashion hero!

Marinette's best friends: Alya, Izuku, Momo

Adrien Agreste/ Chat Noir

Quirk: Bête Noir (Adrien has special paw pads on the palms of his hands. Whenever he touches something with his paw pads, the object breaks apart. Adrien wears special gloves so he dosen't use his power on accident. Adrien also has the ears and tail of a cat.)

Adrien's mother died while giving birth to him, which drove his father into insanity. Gabriel Agreste became Hawkmoth, the number one villain of France. After terroizing the country for years, he was finally stopped when All-might went on vacation in Paris. While Gabriel's house was being raided, All might found a small locked room with the sign "bête noir". When the room was broken into, they found a servearly neglected Adrien Agreste sleeping in a white box. The boy was rescued and placed into the custody of his British family, who were horrified by what Gabriel was doing to him. After a few years, Adrien decided to enroll into U.A. so he could thank All-might in person.

Adrien's best friends: Nino, Chloe, Izuku

Alya Cesaire/Rena Furtive

Quirk: Illusion (A common quirk that creates images using a colorful smoke emitted from the users body. Alya and Camie are two users of this quirk.)

Alya is a would be reporter from Martinique that has a secret no one knows yet... she's secretly the vigilante Rena Rouge! Because Martinique has a relative lack of heros, Alya resolved herself to protect her people from villains both within the country and without. During the day time, she uses her blog, Yipper (couldn't think of a better name, its Fox twitter) to spread useful information on villains and how to defend oneself from them. Now that Alya is at the age to legally aquire a hero license, she figured a little break to become a real hero wouldn't hurt.

I wonder how many of you would have voted "smash" for the Rock before last week. Like, just how much good will was erased in an instant? So far, events have interfered with poll results twice in the three months of this blog's existence (three months of the most insane wrestling news in the history of pro wrestling, tbh), and I'm contemplating running those polls again in a year or so if requests get slow and the events are behind us.

Our collective father Christian Cage has taken the top spot for total votes, with 582 people casting votes. He is No. 34 overall in terms of smashability by percent, but just due to the sheer number of votes cast, he received more smash votes (447) than anyone else. Like, the only people to receive more TOTAL votes than that are Punk (527), Hook (449), and Hangman (447). I was really hoping he'd pass the 600 vote mark, but not today.

Sami Zayn also joined the "Whole Lotta Votes" club with 435, putting him at No. 7 overall.

I think we forget to highlight how strong this scene is for Adrien.

I don't know if this will be entirely the case, but...If the reasoning behind Plagg taking the Miraculous away is because this way he can be free to have a relationship with Marinette, here's Adrien trading his freedom (and not only his freedom. His best friend, his confidante, his company in his golden cage… he's giving all that away) with having a relationship with the girl he likes. Poor boy!

And I know that probably Tikki and Plagg have put it in a different way, probably they have lied to them, but it still HURTS to see him having to make this choice! No 14 year old should...

The fact that Adrien and Félix are sentimonsters in my mind has helped me placing the Shanghai Special. I mean, I'm surely wrong, but I suspect that the Shanghai special is set right before the episode "Félix" in season 3.

Think about it.

Gabriel was wearing his wedding band. If the special had been set AFTER Félix, then when Gabriel disappeared with the ring, then ADRIEN, aka Chat Noir, would have vanished in thin air. But this doesn't happen, and you know why? Because his ring was safe at home on mama Agreste's finger. The one who died the second Papillon vanished in thin air was...poor unsuspecting Félix somewhere in London.

I can imagine the scene (and if some artist wants, hey can take the bunny and make a comic out of it!):

*Hawkmoth disappears*

*Somewhere in London, Amélie and Félix are having dinner.*

*Poor Amélie witnesses her beloved child being wrapped in a purple bubble and disappear in thin air.*

Amelie widens her eyes in shock. "That's it. What the f*ck has Gabriel done now? What happened to my son?"

*an hour later or so, Félix reappears in a storm of ladybugs.*

"That's it," says Amélie. "We're off to Paris next week. It's the anniversary of Emilie's disappearance so Gabriel can't complain that we go to visit. But this story must end. Evidently, Gabriel can't be trusted with something as precious as the ring that contains your amok.

*Félix is shocked beyond belief, not only for having just died and having been brought back to life, but also to find out in such a way that he's not even human*

Which leads to the situation in the Félix episode that we have seen. No wonder the poor kid was "behaving strangely"...

Heyho everyone,

I'm looking for a My Hero Academia fanfic that I didn't bookmark 😭

I think the main pairing was Kiribaku? It was a future fic where Class A were all Pro Heroes and had their own children. And then I'm pretty sure their kids got kidnapped by a villain. So there was a lot of angst around them being worried for their kids.

It was a very long fanfic and the ending hit me pretty hard because Bakugou got hurt at the end when he went to save someome from inside a collapsing building.

It damaged his lungs so badly that he couldn't work as a hero anymore. So the ending was very bittersweet.

Anyways if this sounds familiar to you, I would be grateful for the help!

Submitter's notes as a preface: For the record I hate Chloe but I grew up in a city with pageants and the sexual harassment is RAMPANT there, even for really young girls. If anyone would, logically, call him out, it'd be a girl who's been in pageants. And also, as much as I hate Chloe, I don't think anyone of any age, gender or race ever deserves sexual harassment. Her being awful doesn't mean she deserves that. Consent is important for every single person, period, no matter what. The second we start going "it's okay if it happens to her, she's a bad person", we start leaning into victim blaming and pro-harassment culture, which is why imo no exceptions can be made to the statement 'sexual harassment is never okay'.

((Also also, I promise this is my last submission for a while. I'm in the hospital awaiting surgery right now, so I just have nothing else to do. I'm sorry for spamming your blog. Thank you for running this blog and giving me something to read while I try to calm my nerves prior to this whole surgery thing. When Chloe sees Chat Noir sexually harass Ladybug for the first time, she calls him out right away and finds him disgusting.

See, her whole life, the only thing that got Audrey to even pretend to like her was beauty pageants. And so at beauty pageants Chloe had to put up with creepy comments from from audience members, from boys competing in the boys' division of pageants, and even from other girls, many times.

She has spent years being touched and kissed and having to hear comments about every single part of her, and she couldn't say anything because then she'd lose access to the only bonding time she has with her mom.

It's not that Audrey didn't see it happen. She saw.

And she said everything Chat Noir says - it's a joke, he's doing it because he likes you, you're taking it too seriously, you need to lighten up, you're reading too much into it, he's a nice guy, he's just flirting.

Chloe has spent years pushing down that pain, the invalidation, the feeling of being a thing people look at or a prize to be won and not a person. It's a form of dehumanization so bad that it's unthinkable. It makes her have panic attacks sometimes just thinking back to that yearly stretch of time where in order to be near her mom she had to put up with that. She would never say those sorts of things to anyone...

(The irony in the fact that she's constantly touching and grabbing Adrien against his consent, which is also literally sexual harassment is, in fact, lost on her)

So when Chat Noir starts "teasing" Ladybug, and it's obvious that Ladybug is uncomfortable and that he's ignoring her requests that he stop, Queen Bee calls him out.

The way he's acting is, in her opinion, worse than how a lot of villains act. He's just like all the other boys who think a girl being attractive is the same thing as that girl giving consent.

And the real kicker, the line that stops him in his tracks: "I thought you were a good guy like my friend Adrien, but you're just another catcalling pervert."

What does he do, knowing that the person he really is, is someone his very best friend in the world hates? What does he do when Chloe calls him up that night and talks about how she met Chat Noir and he's a total creep like all the guys who go to pageants? Does it change him? Can he finally, upon hearing the girl he's known since he was a baby break down in tears, realize that he's been hurting people? Maybe he even thinks about how he feels when Chloe grabs him when he doesn't want her to. Maybe they both learn to become better people.

NEW BLOG - Addressing This Blog, My Current Views and Apologizing

Hi y’all, haven’t posted on here since 2020 so I’m not sure anyone will really see this but I’ve been feeling like I should address my past behaviour on this blog for a while now, and this is what this post is. 

In the last few months of my blog, I moved left from my previous positions but still suffered from what I’ve dubbed “edgy little shit syndrome”, which prevented me from admitting I was wrong or from moving away from some of my positions (as can be seen in my bio, still intact). 

I don’t think I’ve ever addressed my neo-con/exclusionist/transmed/anti-blm era (honestly because I’m unbelievably embarrassed by it (as I should be)), so I’m leaving this here. I’m really sorry to everyone whose feelings I hurt and I apologize for the horrible shit I believed. I make no excuses for myself, I was just some edgy, contrarian, dumbass 15/16 year old and I listened to the wrong people and refused to question myself.

Even after that, in 2019, I became less reactionary but I was definitely still a dumbass for shit like pride and other LGBTQ+ related discourse and a bunch of other issues, and for that, I am also apologizing. Again, no excuses. 

I’m very grateful that I was able to get out of that thanks to great left-leaning creators mainly on YouTube (such as Contrapoints, Khadija Mbowe, and Tee Noir) as well as some more edgy left-leaning creators (such as HasanAbi, shoe0nhead and Vaush), and thanks to aquiring more real-world experience.

I think my last one might be too short but what do you think for this one as I don’t think this was explored: a superpowered lawyer tracks Marinette down and reveals himself as a superhero lawyer who takes on heroes for clients pro Bono, he won’t reveal any secret identities to anyone, and takes cases for being framed for a crime, collateral damage being blamed on them, or in this case: seeking royalties.

He can help superheroes sue for royalties on unlicensed films or shows made about their likeness taking advantage of secret identities. That animated ladybug and chat noir movie, you think she or Chat Noir were approached for permission or seen a single cent (unless you could that secretly chat noir was voiced by his own alter ego) or the music video but Marinette is more forgiving about that.

Having all of her rights explained to her like this should definitely inspire her to confront Alya about telling people to photoshop her and Chat Noir together, if you consider the instagram to be canon. At the very least, she should confront her about the picture from Oblivio, since she clearly was not okay with it, and Alya posted it anyways.

And this confrontation then forces Alya to re-think her stance on ‘’Ladynoir’’, since Ladybug has now made it absolutely crystal clear, with no room for interpretation: She is not in love with Chat Noir, they are not dating, they are not a couple, and she never plans for that to change.

Alya starts actually paying attention and realizes exactly how messed up Chat Noir’s behavior is, and starts posting about it on her blog, spreading the word and educating people, which Marinette approves of wholeheartedly. Which leads to further issues, now with Adrien, who isn’t happy about being criticized.

Marinette should also demand that Marc and Nathaniel stop writing and drawing about her like a fictional character, and make an announcement to everyone that they are not allowed to do that.

Marinette is a superhero, and she’s famous because of that, but it doesn’t mean she’s public property.

My first post (+ a MariChat Oneshot)

So yeah... this is my first post on Tumblr. For a long time I was wondering what should be this post. I thought about waiting for a request from you guys, but I was so excited to start that I didn't have any patience to wait rn. So then I thought that I should post an original concept for a story that has been floating around in my mind for sometime now. But literally nothing is fleshed out in the story and I haven't even made my mind up on some characters so that was a no. Then the perfect idea struck me while showering (yes this blog will mainly consist of my shower thoughts because that's the only time I have with some free mental space to question life 🙃) So I have decided to post some of my older fan fictions but never posted on my YouTube Channel that I once had. I will mostly keep them unchanged with only spelling corrections where necessary to keep the essence of the story. I hope you enjoy it💜💜💜

CHAT'S PIZZA PARLOR

"Here we are", Alya said fixing her hand on her hips.

"A Miraculous themed pizza parlor?" Marinette said, raising her brow at her over enthusiastic friend, "There are a million of these in Paris! Did you wake me up on a Sunday morning for this?!"

"This is one's a bit different and I NEED this to be put up on my blog. So stop whining and lets go."

Marinette rolled her eyes. There were pros and cons of having a fanatic blogger as you bestie. Both the girls made their way in the restaurant. 'Oh! So this was a cosplay parlor!' Marinette thought to herself while looking around to take in the view. She spotted a Rena and a Carapace and- thud!

"Oh! I am so sorry. That was so clumsy of me," Marinette said, dusting her dress off as she got up, "Are you okay- Chat Noir!"

"No Mari, he is just one of the cosplayer waiters working here," Alya said to her shocked best friend.

"Yes," the waiter said, confirming Alya's notion, "the mademoiselle is right. May I lead you beautiful ladies to your tables?"

"Sure," Alya said with a light smile.

Marinette, on the other hand, was dumbfounded. He was not the real one? But he was- no. He was just a very good cosplayer. Other than his looks there was nothing screaming Chat Noir, She should stop assuming things.

"Your chair miss."

Marinette raised her head to see the man in front of her. Remember how she just said that maybe he was 'just a good cosplayer'. Scratch that. Forget that. There is no way in world that anyone other than him could pull off to be a gentleman and a flirt at the same time with that obvious smirk. She sat on her chair seizing him with one eye. Who was he working here has? As his superhero self or civilian? If he it was as superhero then that was a complete misuse of the miraculous. If it was as a civilian then he was risking his identity. In any case, that cat had just signed himself up for the lecture of his life.

She excused herself to the washroom.

"That waiter just now..." Marinette began, but was cut short by her kwami.

"...The real Chat Noir, I know," the kwami said, "What are you planing to do now?"

"Well, what do you think? I am going to catch the cat red handed. I'll make him slip up in a way only the two of us will understand so that he would come to me for a long lecture tonight."

"'Me' as in Marinette?"

"Of course"

Marinette came out of the washroom and sat in front of Alya. She scanned the place until she saw Chat Noir. Okay. She had three plans. Three strikes. He was listening in on us from a distance. With her one eye fixed on Chat, Marinette started, "Hey Alya, do you remember Ladybug and Chat Noir's first kiss during the Dark Blade akuma?"

"Duh! Its a shame I didn't get it on camera."

Marinette saw his ears twitch from the corner of her eyes but his expressions were maintained. He was good at this.

"Do you remember the story behind it?" Marinette pushed further, hoping that Chat will come to the table unable to bear the suspense.

"Wasn't it something about the true love's kiss breaking the effect of the Akuma?" Alya hummed.

Marinette glanced at Chat again. Nothing. This was not going anywhere. Time for plan B.

"Say, the Chat Noir here looks like an awful lot like the real one, doesn't he?" Marinette insinuated.

"I know but why are you changing the topic so suddenly? What's going on?"

Mission abort. She wanted to catch him, yes, but Alya couldn't be lead on.

"Forget it, it's nothing. That was just on my mind right now. By the way, have you decided what to order yet?"

"Um..." Alya paused , peering into the menu card, "How about the miraculous special?"

"Can we share it?"

"Sure girl"

Marinette waved her hand, signalling Chat Noir to come to the table. This was her last chance.

"We would like to order a miraculous special pizza please," Marinette said, before looking up at Chat Noir, "Also, could you assign some other hero waiter to us?"

Chat raised a brow, baffled at the sentiment.

"Did I do something wrong, miss?"

"No, but," Marinette paused, feigning hesitance, "I am sorry but I feel you act nothing like the real Chat Noir."

"Wha-"

Marinette cut him, and continued in a saddened voice, "The real one would never treat his princess like this."

"That's because I cannot call you princess-" Chat Noir shut his mouth mid sentence, realizing his folly.

"Am I missing something?" Alya said, confused with the current direction of conversation.

"No, nothing. I am a bit confused myself," Marinette said, "Hey! Didn't you have to meet Nino in like half an hour? Did you get enough info and photos?"

"Oh shoot. Your right! We have to get going right now if we are going to make it in time. I have got enough material for the blog."

"Right behind you."

The girls got up and Alya gathered all her stuff. Marinette quickly shot Chat a glance and the latter gulped. He knew what that meant. It was going to be a long night for him.

"Hey, Nino," Marinette said, greeting him with a smile. Alya chimed in.

"Hey dudettes"

"So where's Adrien? He is not joining us?" Marinette asked glancing around. They had planned group outing today.

"He won't be able to make it. The dude has started working part-time from the last three days."

"He is working?!" Marinette exclaimed in disbelief, "Why? Where?"

"He wants to become independent. He knows his old man would say no so he is working in a disguise at the new cosplay pizza parlor."

"You mean the one we just came from?!" the girls screamed together.

"Yeah," Nino continued nonchalantly, "The dude's working as Chat Noir."

Hey. I've really been thinking about my faith and just like, religions in general lately so I wanna ask people whose opinions I care about some stuff. Like, are you or were you ever spiritual and/or religious? How do you feel about organised religion as a whole? If you don't mind sharing that is

Firstly, it is wild to think that I'm someone whose opinions someone cares about. Kneejerk reaction to reading that was "is this some kind of copypasta or bot" bc generally nobody has ever cared what views I have on anything in the world. Maybe this is a copypasta or bot and I'll see a post about "the copypasta that asks people their religion!!" later and feel embarrassed for answering. Or maybe it's some kind of bait. Still, if you're a real person out here... of all the blogs you had to walk into mine (I said this in a gritty noir detective voice)

Probably I'm going to be unhelpful here bc my relationship to religion is extremely vague. I'm a natural doubter, and raised by atheists, so I feel a bit ridiculous when trying to pray or observe religious "rites" (for lack of a better word)... it feels like talking to something that'll never reply, bc maybe it's not there? Or doesn't exist on a level similar enough to talk/have any tangible influence on my life?

On the other hand, I wish I could buy into the whole thing enough to allow earnest, wholehearted spiritual belief into my world. People who rest secure in their faith are people whom I kind of envy! My mother always speaks of religion as inherently oppressive and ridiculous and I think it's a really annoying, narrow-minded viewpoint. Ideally, organized religion without oppression can be and should be completely possible. Maybe it means churches have to distance themselves from missionizing, bc the root of all ill that's done in the name of religion (any) seems to be trying to force it on people who don't want it. I'm in no ways an expert.

Was I ever adherent to a religion... I tried. I was/am Luciferian. I started this as a teen, for all the typical reasons edgy teens become Satanists. I revisit it sometimes now, because all flavors of Satanism are such artifical, made-up constructs that they demand no certainty of me, and I think that's funny and fascinating. For many, it's more an attitude towards the self than a belief that the devil is real. I live with that as the little spark of magic I allow myself without becoming a fuckin internet witch. Sometimes I try to act like Lucifer is real and listening, bc why not at this point, and I wear my sigil necklace when I'm out and about, and I let my general pro-devil-stance inform my literary analysis which I hope to make my career. And I generally try to live my life in a way that would intrigue a heretic angel. Idk if that's the same thing as believing.

That's more or less my story. Not very helpful to anyone on the search for clarity in their faith, I reckon, because I have no clarity to offer. The question of "how do I stand on religion" is one I constantly put off dealing with. If I have any advice at all, it's that the thinking human is always beset by doubt and controversy. It's fine to not be 100% certain in what you're doing. It's fine to be in negotiations with your faith or your deity. Religion is for humankind, like society and law, we created it to help us. It exists for us, we do not exist (only) in service to it. In the end, what you gotta know is, "Does believing [x] or following [y] add something to my life that I think is worthwhile? Does it help me somehow? Does the help outweigh any harm that might exist?"

I’m worried how the writers (because come on, these writers have a 96% fail rate when it comes to great episodes) and that’s still true as I watched this one because it had development but also lots of retcons (even in the episode itself) and just a whole lot of stuff I’m ranting now so to sum up:

Probably the best episode of this seasons quality wise but still lacking in major areas of continuity and otras.

I didn’t dislike Adrien in this episode, and I’ll even give him a pass on letting the wishmaker hit him (this is different from ladybug as she was doing her job and just hit not intentionally, chat let it hit him instead of resisting or continuing to fight) as he was in a very bad mental state.

However- I won’t hold the writers to the same level of nicety as they have continued to have our two heroes going through stuff but they time and time again give Adrien time to be sad (guilt trip, sentibubbler and such in just this season) without giving Marinette the same time (sentibubbler, truth, crocoduel, etc again in the same season alone).

I have more to say but this is supposed to be about wishmaker so!

I don’t ship lukadrinette but I thought they had a nice time like adrigaminette. I like the “narrative” the writers “made” as if this also just me, that your abilities and child hood dreams don’t define what you have to be when you grow up. Luka came out of left ballpark with the instrument making but it made him happy so sure man. Marinette wants to do everything and <flash back to Marinette having an atlas complex> oh. Hm. Anyways! Liked the akuma look, liked narrative mostly, like the characters mostly, didn’t like the retcons, didn’t like the writers, and didn’t like confusion I felt during this episode even though I’ve watched all the episodes lmao
