one of the few guys that feels guilt about what he's doing- he knows how scary it is to feel watched all the time. how awful it is to find out you were right.

he’s embarrassed of himself; he’s prided himself on being stoic and independent for so long that this sudden urge to love you and watch you and know you gives him waves of shame

watches from afar, would definitely try and avoid letting himself get too close to you in person. he’s ashamed of it, but he can’t help himself- he needs you, even if at a distance.

Sanji learns the love language of wano while he's there, and is shocked to find out that doing little could mean so much, also the poetic way of saying i love you (the moon is beautiful isn't it?) and that Zoro had cared that much and he never knew, so he wants to make it up to him, by combining his love language with Zoros, he thinks of songs that has to do with the moon and love, then it hits him, La siene would be perfect. (Just switch the her parts to him lol) but he doesn't want the others to know what he's singing and to whom, so he's gonna sing in French, but he's gonna need some help from Robin. (cause Zoro doesn't know French) so events on wano happen and luffy wants another celebration on the ship, (cause why not?) and Sanji comes up with a plan, (and tells Robin too of course) Robin will leave a French book out so Zoro spots it and asks about it, then Robin will tell him about it and translate for him, then later on while the crew is celebrating and singing hed wait for his turn, and sing La siene to Zoro while making sure the others don't notice, and hold onto hope that Zoro accepts his confession. So, thats the plan. Now to put it in place. Robin leaves the book out and as expected Zoro notices and asks, to which Robin translates, (and teaches him how to confess in French too for good measure.) The day goes by and night falls which means the party is happening, time goes by a bit more, Zoro on the railing and watching nearby (at least far enough where the crew doesn't notice him, and checks the lavender rose in his harumaki, then returns to watching the crew) and Sanjis turn comes up, (Zoro expects that he will sing loud and clumsily to the lady's, like an idiot, what he doesn't know is he's about to be very wrong) Sanji steps to the metaphorical stage, starting to sing,

(Idk if its the French ver or not lol) Zoro thinks he's singing to the lady's (like the romantic fool he is) until Sanji looks at him, (I dont know, dont know, so dont ask me why, that's just how we love La Siene and I) (just listen to the song and imagine sanji singing it. and yes I know its a duet, id like to think that he'd sing it by himself to Zoro ok?) Shock is one hell of an understatement to Zoro, but now he sees why Robin was teaching him French earlier (as well as how to confess in French) it was Sanjis plan, of a Love confession to him. That idiot. (Zoros eyes are now completely on Sanji as he sings the rest of the song) and as much as Zoro hates to admit it, that was one hell of a love confession. Sanjis song finishes and the next go up is ussop, so Sanji leaves em be, choosing to walk over to Zoro, being a bit embarrassed, (despite how well it went) "so, what do you say?" (Zoro pulls out the lavender rose) "id say, je t'iame aussi." (I love you too) now its Sanjis turn to be shocked, Robin must have taught him behind his back, still, its such a confession that is still so sweet to him, he didn't have to follow through what Robin said and yet he did, even more so the meaning of the rose, (lavender rose means Enchantment, or "love at first sight") he took the rose and smelled it (he always loved the smell of roses) and, without missing a beat, pulled Zoro in close, and kissed him short, soft, and sweet (Robin watched out of the corner of her eye smiling before turning back to the show) Sanji looks at the strawhats then back at Zoro, "lets go a bit further away hm?" "mh" they go farther away till its a bit quieter, music barely heard in the background. And they stay in eachothers company, enjoying the quiet peaceful night under the moons glow.

Doll Review #1: Monster High Freaky Fusion 'Sirena Von Boo'

Hello again everyone! I didn't expect to be back quite so soon, but the mailman brought me a nice couple surprises today! I was expecting this package to come a little later in the month with all of the holiday hustle 'n bustle this time of year. Today we are going to be opening up one of my favorite doll lines of all time: Monster High!

Freaky Fusion was a 2013-4 gimmick line of dolls that were focused on the "hybrid" monsters, essentially a 2 in 1 sort of deal. A little bit of one monster and a little bit of another. When Monster High came out I wasn't allowed to collect any of them. I was older, and was focusing on my diploma, which sadly meant I missed a lot of really cool dolls. Though, I do remember commercials for the movies and playsets when I was babysitting. (Please note I have not watched the movies or tv show, as those aren't really my place of interest. I just like the dolls.) From what I've heard in terms of reception, and what i've seen of other dolls in the line, some were stellar, some were... less so. Ironically, one of the lesser liked lines of the time was where I actually got my start with the series with my first doll, Mr. Neighthan Rot, but I'll save his flowers for his own spotlight review. Today is Sirena's Day~

(Please forgive my poor backdrop) Looking at her in box, she really is a beauty. The flowing light purple hair with the intricate tail piece make her a stunner for sure. There's something so nostalgic for me seeing the Freaky Fusion Box nearly 12 years later. She's a simple doll, a hybrid of a ghost and a mermaid. Though she is unique in that her tail is also her stand! Accessories are minimal, coming with her trademark MH diary, and a comb. Looking at her in box back in the day, I was very torn for a while about her. I'm admittedly not the biggest fan of mermaids (sorry Great Scarrier Reef fans...) and still I'm not. Mostly due to just not being that interesting from a lore perspective, but also they tend to be difficult to display O.O.B. However, I think the additional ghostliness of her pearly skin and black tail and hands really drew me to her the more I thought about her.

Standing up free from her rotting elastics prison, you can truly see the beauty in this doll. Pearly skin, elegant tail, webbed fingers. Her hair is unfortunately rather gross out of the package; 10+ years of product haven't let those curls age very well. I may have to wash her hair, unfortunately. Her neck is also rather stiff due to her in-box pose, but hopefully gravity will make it easier to have her look straight on. My main criticism is that she really doesn't have much going on fashion-wise for a fashion doll. She's pretty, but her accessories on her doll itself are minimal and she can't exactly trade fashions with her friends due to her tail bottom half. I think a little extra clothing pieces to change into would've given her a bit more value, but sadly movie tie-in dolls on an aging line just don't get that kind of attention. A shame, really.

So overall, what do I think of miss Von Boo? Well, I think for what she is, she's pretty neat! A real gem in a rather mixed bag of a line, and a very unique take on a mermaid doll. If you can find one for a decent cost, I would say reel her up! Though I wouldn't worry too much about her hair, it will need some form of restyling either way be it second hand or NIB.

Submission: I think the MH thing might be a lot simpler than we're giving it credit for.

I don't know how credible this new 🎃 anon is, if at all. (Tip for new anons: we took Spade and Flag seriously because they proved themselves worth listening to before they started asking us to put faith in them. Most of us are at a high alert for trolling right now and not inclined to take a new player on the scene seriously.) But I don't think it matters, because even if they're fake, all 🎃 is doing is presenting us with the same old story we always get of a last minute pivot. We can wait and see if something arises to confirm the story, or we can assume it's bullshit and ignore this "explanation". 

But if you believe 🎃 is bullshit and a coming out isn't on the cards til 2025 (as a lot of us now do believe) then you need to ask yourself why Taylor would beard again, so soon, and with this guy of all people. I think I might know the answer to that. 

Some points to consider: 

1) Taylor might be planning a prolonged "single" phase. She might want to stop her fans wanting to see her in a relationship with a guy. If she goes straight from Joe to singledom, her fans will assume she's still heartbroken over him and hold out hope for a reunion. She doesn't want that. She needs a Tom to erase him like she did Calvin. But I think she's genuinely done with fans creating these happy little hetero fantasies for her and getting attached. This feels almost like a punishment to all the fans who have refused to see her truth over the years. None of this is any faker than Tom or Toe were. The timelines are just as implausible, the PR just as obvious. But this time they don't get their picture perfect fantasy. If they would rather see Taylor with a guy - any guy - than with the loyal and loving woman who has borne her children and been her biggest fan for a decade now . . . then they better open wide and take their medicine. And don't dare complain about how bitter it tastes. 

I don't think this stunt will last long, but by the end of it they'll be begging for Taylor to "just be single" and "figure out what she wants". Which is probably the point. 

2) Karlie has been eating Kushner shit for years now to protect their closet. I'm in the minority that believes this was a sacrifice mostly made to protect Taylor, not a self-serving move on Karlie's part. Looking at it from that perspective, I've been expecting to hear songs about it for a long, long time. Songs about loving someone whose choices destroyed their reputation. Songs about loving someone who is misunderstood. Someone who is seen as a bad guy to the world, but who pieced together your broken heart after a devastating break up from a relationship in which you were nearly engaged. 

Taylor has songs she wants to put out into the world about these experiences, and rightly or wrongly, she still feels she needs the fig leaf of a male muse and a public narrative as cover for them. I don't know if it's bonus Rep tracks or the rumored Lover B side, or something else. But I would guess Taylor has songs about the last few years that mean a lot to her, and we'll probably see them in 3-6 months. This is all just groundwork. 

3) Kind of related to point 2, but looking at it on a more personal level. Karlie tanked her reputation for Taylor, and has been abused by her fans for years, mostly for things she hasn't even done (like her supposed "betrayals"). I don't pretend to know how Taylor thinks, but if that was me, I would have a hard time living with myself knowing I'd allowed the love of my life to be treated like that, so I could make more money and keep myself clear of criticism. Even if she agreed to it. Hypothetically, I might feel that I deserved to get a little taste of my fans' vitriol. 

This might seem like a crazy, illogical decision to us because for once, maybe the motivation isn't to secure positive PR for Taylor. Maybe Taylor is being stubborn, and trying to prove a point to herself and the woman she loves: that she would be willing to do for Karlie what Karlie has done for her. 

Anyway. These are just some thoughts, looking at the whole thing from a different angle and considering possibilities I haven't seen discussed.

It was my very first time tabling at a con so I didn't really know what to expect? I didn't bring many goods. Just those shikishis that I've been working on over the year and some of my remaining books that were spares. I could only bring a small number of books because they're really heavy and I'm weak and pathetic 😔

I didn't think the low book stock would be a problem going in because I kinda assumed they wouldn't sell? Love Live Nijigasaki doesn't have a huge presence locally so my expectations weren't set high. I would've been happy to sell a single copy honestly 😅

So when I did sell that first copy I was super surprised! I'm so sorry to the one who bought that first book! I was acting a bit weird bc I was just in disbelief that someone wanted to buy the comic ahahhah

I was like "Huh??? You want to buy it???? Huh???? For real???"

I seriously didn't think I'd sell the rest of the remaining stock. Sure I only had like 10-15 books leftover from the online sales but I only brought 5 books on the first day!!! I ended up leaving the con early and scurrying home to pick up more. And that commute was about 2 hours so it was super exhausting (esp since my day began at 6am 😅)

I'm still super surprised that people actually bought my book! Like ???? All sorts of people too. Both fans of Love Live! and people who had no context of the series. Different demographics too! Again, I'm so thankful for the support!

It was nice seeing that there were still LL fans in Melbourne as well. Love Live! is a bit rare to see in artist alleys these days, so a lot of people stopped by to mention they were Love Live fans 😊

Most people were Muse or Aqours fans and didn't make any purchases but I was still happy to meet them. Again, it's nice knowing there are other LL fans around!

I'm also pleased to announce that there are at least 5 Setsuna Yuki fans in Melbourne...! (Including me...) As well as Nijigasaki fans 🎉🎉

One person was wearing a Dive! long sleeve and I was like !!!! I have the exact same top at home 😭😭😭 I respect it!!! I also know that it's expensive as hell to export so I doubly respect it 🥲

I definitely want to keep representing Nijigaku at cons 💪!!

It's also worth noting that this con was a general pop culture con. So the audience is more mixed with Western pop culture. It made finding those LL fans extra surprising!

During the day I had a lot of time to burn. While I'm happy with the outcome of the con, it's not like I made tons of sales. My store only has a small amount of stock for a niche (compared to having a million prints and little knick knacks) so it's pretty expected. But yes, I was just idling for a lot of it.

I did end up drawing some quick shikishi on the spot.

I ended up selling Rathalos and Yu! (Mizuki is looking for a home still.) I was also asked if I was taking shikishi commissions which feeds my ego, but I did end up rejecting bc I didn't feel confident enough with these quick ones to take commissions just yet. (In general I reject commissions anyways bc I'm not great at them...)

A neat thing is that taking the hour do draw that one Rathalos drew some Monster Hunter fans to the table! I managed to have a few little conversations about the game bc of that. I think I'll make more MH shikishi in the future since it's fun to draw. It's also funny to think about my booth becoming LL x MH since the communities are pretty different 😂😂

Overall, I think the con was a success! I have a bunch of cute stories to tell but I think I'll leave it for another post. Financially, I did end up making back all of my expenses! So that's a success in that front as well.

I'd like to do more cons in the future! But honestly it's a little hard for me to be accepted as I tend to make really little content. (Just a few books and shikishi). I think I can only really do half tables...

But I'll do my best!

There are some photos of the new ghoul, the rhythm guitarist who replaced Aether. I also find out that Sunshine isn't on tour and there's a new ghoulette to replace her too.

I feel my chest sinking deeper.

Scrolling through the comments, I also discover that Sophie is busy with another project and that she won't be present on the tour at all.

But there is no certain information about Aether, it is not known where Chris is, if he is ill, if he will be able to make it for other rituals.

I let out a small, broken sob and curl up on myself.

I did not expect it.

I wasn't ready for this news.

I'm not ready.

My heart fills with anguish, tightens, twists, cries desperately, and I try to ease the pain by bringing a hand to my chest, clawing at the fabric of the shirt I'm wearing.

"What's going on darling?"

I hear a familiar voice from afar

"She's sad you're not on tour"

A pair of footsteps approach and I don't lift my head to look at the person I already know they belong to, I'm not ready for the sight.

Hi, I'm the anon (so funny somehow 🫢) who heard some of the leaks. I don't know where to start, I think hearing the two albums made me even more disappointed. Out of all the 30 songs, I genuinely only like 4 songs probably. I understand what she was trying to do but it's not for me (and i looove folklore). Some lyrics are truly disappointing and not at all poetic, BDILH and so high school gave me an actual ick, and the album is just too repetitive for me. Nothing really stood out to me. I changed my mind on fortnight tho, it grew on me. Also, if she expected me to listen to songs about MH then she's terribly wrong (hate that man lol) and i don't get her at all and I don't care I'm the one who was "bitching and moaning" about her being with him. I feel like I was "catfished" into believing I'll cry over her break up with Joe and feel sad for her but no...we have So Long, London and even though it's sad it didn't move me at all. Idk...I listened to the album twice and i think I'm done. + agree with you and the other anon, swifties making past songs about Healy now is bothering me A LOT (even maroon about Jake wasn't safe but I blame Taylor for that). Hi, I just want to say that your opinion is valid so you don't have to feel bad. It's not what I expected in terms of who was the inspiration behind these songs, but I loooove So long, London, it's the most devastating track 5 for me. Also personally, I like the first half of the album way better than the second, the second one sounds like a same song over and over. The album could have 17 tracks plus 5 songs for the deluxe version and I would be fine with it 🤷‍♀️I don't think I'll be adding it to my top albums from her, also because of its sad nature, however I don't think it's that bad...just not for everyone

“A-Ah, I’m very sorry to interrupt…” The stranger scratched his head in embarrassment. He was quite tall, handsome, and seemed to be around high school age. “U-Uhm, I’m sorry, but…” He turned to Yuyuko, and gave her a sheepish smile. “But I saw you from over there, and…”

“.. Ah.” Yuyuko’s voice was as cold as ice. One of her biggest pet peeves was getting hit on in the streets, especially when hanging out with friends. “I’m going to stop you right there. I’m not interested.”

“O-Oh, no no, that’s not what I meant !!”

“ ‘Not what you meant’ ?” There it was. Another of her biggest pet peeves: guys who didn’t have the guts to own up to what they’re doing. She glared at him, hostile air surrounding her. Seeing the scene unfold, Isagi gulped.

“Y-Yuyuko, come on, let’s-“

“I-I’m sorry, I didn’t come here to hit on you, I promise!!” The stranger flapped his hands in front of him, obviously very embarrassed by the turn of events.

“… Is that so.” Yuyuko looked at him with suspicion, not trusting him yet.

“I-I just… I mean… I saw you over there and I recognised you… You… Erm… Are a friend of Haruka-san, right?”

“Hacchan ?” Yuyuko’s eyes widened. “What about her?”

“A-Ah, it’s just… I’ve been a huge fan since her beginnings, and… I was, uh… Wondering if there was any way I could get her number ? I’ve been doing fan edits for a while, and-“

Swifter than wind, Yuyuko grabbed a chair next to her that she presented to the guy, a bright smile plastered on her face. “Oh ? You’re interested in Hacchan ? Please, do sit down. Now, what’s your name ? Age ? What school do you go to ?”

“… Y-Yuyuko-chan, what was that about … ?” Isagi deadpanned as he saw his friend, grinning as she entered the stranger’s contact details on her phone. The stranger had just disappeared around the corner of the street, after a 30 minutes one-sided questioning about… Just about everything and anything in this guy’s life, really. They probably had more information on him than the feds, at this point.

“Mh ?” Distracted, she typed a message, half-listening to Isagi. “What’s this about ? Well, you’ve seen it, haven’t you? That guy was interested in Hacchan.”

“Y-Yeah, I got that part, but…” He scratched his head. “I mean, he’s quite handsome and all, but are you sure about giving Haruka-chan’s number to a stranger … ?”

“A stranger ?” She looked up, genuinely confused. “What do you mean, a stranger ? I know all his private information, all the way to the prefecture where his mother was born. He’s not a stranger anymore, now, is he ?”

“I know that, but…” He sighed. “It’s quite out of character for you to be kind to a guy that you met on the streets, you know.”

“I mean, yeah, if he was hitting on me, I would’ve given him the cold shoulder.” Now it was Yuyuko’s turn to sigh. “But y’know… at this point, I’m desperate for a great guy to steal hacchan away from…” she frowned in disgust. “… him.”

“By him, do you mean…”

“You know who I mean !” She flopped on the table dramatically. “It’s just, I can’t believe it… My kind, and cute Hacchan, falling for like, the second biggest psycho in the whole world after Shido ?! I just know that guy’s up to no good !! She’s been so stressed, and emotional, and under pressure lately, all because he’s toying with her all the time…”

“I mean, yeah, I don’t think Kaiser’s the best guy either, but… How exactly is giving her number away going to help ?”

“Well, Isagi-kun, you do have eyes, don’t you?” She raised her head and looked at him, dead serious. “That guy’s definitely a looker. He has money, too- have you seen his sweatshirt ?” Isagi nodded. “Plus, he’s into, I don’t know, the weird games she always plays, so they can, huh, talk about gaming, I guess. And he has a nice smile.”

“… So ?”

“So…. If Hacchan meets up with him, don’t you think she would ditch that kitsch tattoo loser for a nice, rich, handsome young guy who treats her well ??”

“… !! I see… But do you think she would agree to go meet up with him .. ? I don’t think Haruka-chan’s the type to do that…”

“I’ve already convinced her.”

“?! Wait, how-“

“I told him it was a friend of mine, and that they were a great match.” Shocked, Isagi was about to interrupt, but she wiggled her finger in front of his face. “- Tut tut. Isagi-kun, sometimes lies are a NECESSITY. Plus, he’s going to bring her to the best French restaurant around here, at 8pm sharp. Isn’t that so romantic and mature ?!”

“Huh ? You mean the L’oiseau Bleu restaurant ???! Isn’t that like… a 5 star one?”

“Yeah, it is !!” Yuyuko clapped her hands enthusiastically. “She’s 100% going to fall for that guy, and then, bye-bye German asshole-“

“Just who are you calling a German asshole.”

“?!” Both Yuyuko and Isagi jolted at the familiar tone. “K-Kaiser ?”

“Yuyuko, you wound my heart. Do you think that lowly of me… ?” He feigned a hurt tone, before grinning at her, winking. “… Not like I give a shit, though. Anyway, what’s this all about ?”

Now standing straight on her chair, glaring at him, Yuyuko put her phone down, containing her anger. “It’s none of your business. We were just about to leave, actually.” She stood up, and Isagi looked at her, bewildered.

“Huh ? W-We’re leaving ?”

“Yeah, let’s get going. Suddenly, I don’t have an appetite anymore.”

Taunting them with annoying remarks only him had the secret to, Kaiser watched the two friends leaving, as he leaned on one of the café walls. As soon as they disappeared from his vision, his face grew darker.

8pm, at the l’Oiseau Bleu. He came just in time to hear Yuyuko describe the date plans ; and from the bits he overheard as he was approaching them, he could also gather that said date wasn’t hers, but Haruka’s with a completely random dude. Not letting any emotions show on his face, and stood back up and started walking back to the facility. So she was going out tonight with a guy, huh ? But anyway- none of that concerned him.

It didn’t concern him.

Truly. He didn’t really care about Haruka; she was just a girl with interesting reactions he loved to rile up when he was bored with nothing to do. It’s not like she was someone he cared about, or that he would see for a long time; as soon as the Blue Lock project was over, he would go back to Germany and she would be nothing more than a vaguely funny memory to him. Yes… he glanced at the clock. 7pm. He had no reason to be bothered by it- women like her are fickle, if they go out with a random guy who just asked for their number on the street- pathetic.

He clearly wasn’t going to let it ruin his day- actually, why would it even ruin his day? He grasped his jacket from the closet. Yeah, she meant nothing to him, so even thinking about the fact that it could ruin his day was laughable. He just thought he had her in his pocket, and the fact that she’d go out with another guy was just a bit of a surprise- but he was going to have an early night tonight, and not let the thought of it bother him.

Michaël Kaiser was so much better than just a random guy on the street; if she goes on a date with him, then it clearly shows her worth as a woman- yes. He put on his shoes. He has dozens, no, hundreds of women screaming at him on the streets or sending him DMs on social media; it’s just, this particular situation is on his mind because, well, she’s basically his property now, because when you have Kaiser showing you attention, why the hell do you need to go on a date with someone else ?

Laughable, really. He’s tall, handsome, well-educated, and, well, the best striker ever, in his own humble opinion. He’s not threatened by the thought of her going out with some random dude; it’s just, it’s like, you know, someone trying to challenge the match results after he’s already won. Now he closed the door behind him, and walked rapidly in the cold street air. And there’s one thing Kaiser hates, it’s losers who don’t know their place. But, obviously, this had nothing to do with Haruka- nothing.

Reaching a gaudy, neon-lighted shop, Kaiser headed straight for the downstairs part, not even paying attention to the shop clerks greeting him. While his mind was in complete denial of his jealousy, the pace of his steps as he ran down the stairs was surely betraying his uneasiness. Laughter could be heard in the distance, as the door with the bright neon ‘ARCADE’ sign was now on sight for him. He hurried up, now almost running, and rushed inside the room as the automatic doors made way for him. He scanned the room, panting- but a sporty man like him shouldn’t pant for such little exercise, as cold as the air outside was. Then, was he… Anxious ?

— And that was when he saw her. Blue, short hair, slouching on some old arcade game, brows furrowed in frustration. Relieved, he smiled cockily as he made his way towards her. He kicked her seat, making her lose her balance- she landed ass on the ground with a loud WHAM.

“Wha- What the ?!”

“Haruka, you’re such a loser, seriously.”

“?! K-K-Kaiser ?!” Haruka’s cheeks were bright red; she definitely wasn’t expecting to see him here. She stood up, slightly disoriented; as soon as the confusion went away, she glared at him, pouting. “You ASSHOLE !! I had such a great combo going on there, you just had to ruin it!!!”

“A combo ? What even is that.” He clicked his tongue, looking down on her.

“That’s- whatever..” She sighed, and ruffled her hair. “What’cha doing here, German asshole.”

“I see that’s a popular nickname of mine, recently.”

“Huh ?”

“Nevermind." He cleared his throat. “You really have no life, do you. Playing in an arcade by yourself, surrounded by geeks, instead of going out to fancy dinner dates.”

“Hey, don’t speak of otaku culture if you don’t-“ She stopped and blinked. “Eh ? How d’ya know I had a date tonight ?”

“I told you, didn’t I ? I know everything.”

“Eh ?! I mean, err… Yuyuko wanted me to go, but ya know, I’m kinda awkward with dates and stuff, so…” She sighed. “I wanted to let off some steam and play, but… “ She glared at him. “Of course, YOU had to come and ruin everything. Why did you even come to an arcade, if you hate them ??!”

“Because I was sure you would be there.”

“ ? “ A small blush crept unto Haruka’s cheeks. Did he… Did he come to check up on her… Because he knew she had a date ?

“It wasn’t hard- you’re such a no-life, of course you’d be wasting your time on some childish games. How pathetic, your friend has to be the one sending you out on dates because otherwise you’re just playing games all day, huh.” Haruka was about to interrupt, but before she could even say anything, he pressed his palm on her forehead as she flapped her arms helplessly. “There, there, lil doggy. I just wanted to make sure that my number one fan wasn’t trying to replace me with the most random dude known to mankind.”

“?! What’d’ya mean, your number one fan ?? You asshole, who d’ya think you are-“

“If you’re going to try and forget the unforgettable, at least go for someone high class, or you’re going to hurt my pride, you know. Though I don’t think you could quite pull that off.” He let her forehead go, and Haruka almost fell.

“Haaa ? Seriously, I hate you, you attention whore !!! You’re so fucking full of yourself !! Here I was, thinking you might’ve been worried about me going on dates with a dude, but no, it was just an ego thing ?!!! Seriously, I should’ve gone if I had knew, and—“

Not even listening to what she was saying, Kaiser turned around and headed for the exit, leaving Haruka bewildered, as she insulted him, still angry at his taunts. He put his hands in his pocket and whistled, as he was once again met with the cold, crispy winter air, leaving Haruka’s nagging voice and the chaos behind him.

But there was something weighing down on Kaiser’s mind. Something he could never tell anyone. And it’s the fact that for a moment, a very brief moment, at the thought of her being at the restaurant with another man when he ran down those stairs- that his heart was beating awfully fast. Weird, he thought. Maybe he should get a health check-up tomorrow ?

ignore this if it's weird but i've been feeling so upset about taylor like it really does feel like she's betraying all of her loyal fans that have stayed by her side through thick and thin :( the whole matty thing has really soured the tour (im an international fan so i wasn't even going but i watched live streams but not anymore), the speak now tv release (my favorite album!) and just her music in general :( and the worst part is that even if she breaks up with him tomorrow, it doesn't change the fact that she dated and defended him PUBLICLY despite the racism, sexism, antisemitism etc that is literally public knowledge :(

I waited a couple of days to reply because I too was feeling kind of disheartened by this whole situation. it’s now been a whole week since I last listened to a Taylor’s song and it breaks my heart but I can’t bring myself to listen to her not when hearing her voice reminds me about her position right now. I stand by everything you said: the miss Americana doc is such a comfort movie for me but now it just makes me think about her hypocrisy. There is no way that matty healy’s behavior can be justified and hearing her say ‘this is the happiest I’ve ever been in all aspects of my life’ feels like a punch in the face to all her bipoc fans. she KNOWS what we’re all saying, and yet she’s choosing not only to remain silent but to also flat out say she doesn’t care. I would have never expected this from her, I don’t care if it’s a ‘parasocial relationship’ if I ‘need to touch grass’: I feel so sad about it all and as you said, even if they were to break up it doesn’t change the fact that she’s ignoring the harm his opinions have on so many minorities.

her music used to comfort me but now it makes ME feel uncomfortable, because I deeply care and I personally have cut off people from my life that have said similar things to what MH has said so I wouldn’t be true to myself by saying I’m asking too much of her. No. She needs to be held accountable because we are talking about the safety of minorities. Words lead to actions, it’s a known fact. I’m trying to distance myself from her persona because it hurts way too much. Perhaps I’ll still be a casual fan, I can’t cancel all the love I have for her music and the way it has comforted me throughout rough moments of my life, but whenever I think of her it really feels like a betrayal.

Let’s see how this goes, but so far it’s not looking good, I know she will never acknowledge the mess she created.

Yes I just finished the last few episodes of the season, and clankie just had no time to cook. If you take all the clankie clips in isolation, back to back, it seems cute and genuine, but after binge watching this season again, I’m realizing how little they actually interacted. This goes for all the couples. Couples like heath and Abby need seem like they’re catering to G1 fans just a tad. Like I’m expecting these characters to like each other because that’s how I remember it, so as the viewer I can cut them some slack. But in reality the characters just don’t develop enough during the shows long runtime. And this makes clankie stand out more in my opinion as they have no previous history with viewers and old fans, so they really needed to convince us that they actually like each other, but it fell short for me personally. I enjoy clankie fan art and I’m rooting for them to get a 2 pack eventually, but I do still think they fall very short for me. Like it feels so out of character that Frankie wouldn’t tell their friends about their crush on Cleo, or if Cleo caught feelings, we should have gotten an episode of Cleo trying out terrible online dating advice (or seeking out advice from lagoona because I guess she’s a romantic?). But the two most vocal characters just keep to themselves? Frankie isn’t curious about this new feeling they have? Maybe I’m asking for too much, but I’m sure they could have pulled it off if the episodes were paced better, that goes for all the couples. It’s also weird to bring up Cleo and deuce used to date but Cleo herself never acknowledges that. It’s only ever deuce who brings it up. Also the monster ball episode, I’m assuming was a way to confirm certain ship dynamics, but I wished we got an episode where Cleo and Frankie actually said they like each other. :\

(Also on another note, they have a club for queer monsters but Frankie never talks about their crush on Cleo…feels like a perfect opportunity. Also I would have liked to see some tension when it came to if Cleo is even into nonbinary femmes. Maybe have a conflict of Frankie trying to live up to all of Cleo’s amazing exs (some can be girls) and make them all super cool and unique idk)

Monster high generation 1 was able to get away with random characters because of the movies! The movies helped flesh out new characters. And the webisodes were extra character development. Side characters often would have a few episodes dedicated to them if they were completely new. Or they would flesh out reoccurring background characters like iris and scarah. I think I have a bigger magnifying glass on generation 3, because they are trying to actively have lore and be more character driven. With character conflicts so I expect more out of this series than I would MHG1, which pretty much had teenage girls as monsters. Which I liked to be honest, I think G3 needed more silly typical teenage stuff. One moment these characters are being babied by their parents, and next they are solely responsible for stopping constant terrors going on at the school. Even events like cheerleading and prom feel flat because there’s no build up. Clankie would be a lot better if they built up throughout the season this big dance that you can take your crush to, and Frankie and all the other ships can interact with that in mind. I wanna see the ghouls shopping, going to the movies, the mall, having fun enjoying themselves. All they seem to do is study or do random activities.

And yes the MH bigotry is very strange, I might do a whole separate post ranting about this generations lore and mythology. Since they don’t flesh out the world beyond the school enough, things like “were-ruler” feel so bland to me. Like is it really important? And what does it necessarily have to do with MH? The show frames monster high as the only school in the monster world, yet some monsters are banned? For what? It’s hard to understand the monsters motive, because they hate humans who are…uh human i guess, but they also hate random species of monsters? And most of the hate is boiled down to “this monster was a little destructive” but every monster has their freaky monster ways, why would they see it as weird? My biggest gripe is the whole “we hate humans” mentality. They give like 0 reason to hate humans, and if witchcraft is banned because it’s a human practice and they got betrayed by a human, why aren’t were creatures banned for having human forms? And what all constitutes as magic? Because allot of the monsters in the school have magical powers, or magical things happen in the school, so why is learned magic the devil? Catarina, torelais mom used magic to steal monster’s ability’s (just like the old tale), Cleo has some mummy magical abilities, would dueces stone powers not be magic? I’m just going to guess it’s more of the practice of magic, but draculaura never did anything in my opinion that was “witchcrafty”.

And principal blood good is probably one of my least favorite characters in the show. She’s a lot goofier than her G1 counterpart and I never take her seriously as a threat. Especially when it comes to her finding out draculaura is a witch. She’s easy to trick and her one gag is her head falling off. She’s very forgiving and super clumsy. I’ve never seen her take anything seriously. Unlike in G1, she wasn’t strict but rules were rules, and since she wasn’t around too often, her presence felt like a big deal. But she did care about her students and the school and actively tried to make things right often. The new goofy bloodgood just kills my vibe. I thought her being black was a cool idea, but I didn’t think they would make her so traditionalist.

(This is probably for a later post but) the characters getting new ethic backgrounds was something I was excited for, until they started being boiled down to stereotypes.

Clawdeen-mixed kid (literally half human half wolf) can’t fit in with her two races (very cliche mixed kid tropes in my opinion)

Draculaura -asian (over bearing parents who need her to live up to specific standards, suddenly very studious(model minority mindset)

Lagoona- Latina ( constant anger issues and very dramatic,(feisty Latina trope)

Torelai - British (evil(this is a joke)

I don’t think anything is inherently wrong with adding new ethnic backgrounds to characters, but it feels so flat in MH. I think of shows like Craig of the Creek when I want to think of good representation, for race and sexuality. And gender. The show has nonbinary characters, characters with queer sexuality’s, and tons of characters with different ethic backgrounds. Now they have the benefit of being human, but I think if MH just fleshed out the monster world and made things more of a parody like normal, I think it would be better. Like characters like skeletita feel more genuine because all the skeletons are Mexican skeletons candy characters. So she doesn’t feel like the only one. Where lagoona is the only fish with an accent, maybe if she has a few fish friends from where she is from, it would help flesh her out more idk. This topic in very important to me so i wanna clarify that I don’t hate the diversity I just want better from this show. If this was made in 2010 sure i would call it revolutionary but i expect more representation out of these new shows that claim to be oh so diverse! Comfirm cleos sexuality, make more nonbinary characters, have more characters be of the same or similar races, why do we only have one of each?idk idk

Monster high G3 rant

Watching the TV series and I’m kind of disappointed.

This will be my second watch of season 1, I’m rewatching after the current season 2 episodes.

the show feels very flat in my opinion. They’ve given the characters a lot of cool traits, but they’re used for like one episode and then never brought up, or they only use one specific trait 24/7. Like Frankie in this generation, they have the ability to electrocute, extend their body parts, and they get visions from the people they’re made out of. Specifically they get visions from this one recurring doctor/ scientist. The idea is cool, but the vision literally is there to give exposition about something conveniently. Like when they are trying to solve the puzzle of clawdeens mom, Frankie’s vision just conveniently tells them what to do and how to do it.

In that same episode, we see manny taur. A Minotaur character. And right away we are just told that he’s good at puzzle solving, and so is draculaura! They’re rivals! But this is the first time I’ve ever seen or heard about draculaura being into puzzles, let alone her one sided rivalry with manny. And as the episode ends, she’s like “well you can be the rightful puzzle master” but it feels so flat. There has been no build up to this moment.

Another example is lagoona. In her designated episode, she is rooting for torelai to win the fear-leading captain over draculaura (another thing that has no build up as to why it’s important to her) lagoona explains that torelai is holding a secret over her head, and if it gets out she will lose her status as the fiercest monster in school. But this is the first time we have heard this!! In previous episodes there’s no mention of her being scary or fierce. Or even her super fast swimming skills. It’s just brought up and glosses over with a “be who you are, it’s okay to like what you want! We all have secrets 🥹” but there’s no real character development.

My last example will be the way draculaura is presented in this series. From what she tells us, she has high standards to live up to as a vampire. She needs to look good for her day so she studies endlessly and is striving for perfection. But she also has a love for witchcraft, which is banned in monster high due to its connections to humans. This can be a cute premise, but they NEVER show draculaura compared to any other vampire to show how she’s supposed to act. They never give us episodes where she blows off her friend’s shenanigans because it makes her look bad, and they never really show her dad being so overbearing. They don’t show us WHY humans are hated. And even though witchcraft is banned, whenever anyone finds out about it they’re just cool with it? No push back or anything. The only character to challenge draculaura was torelai.

This all may be very nitpicky, but MH is a character driven franchise. Character relationships with each other and their surroundings are very important to me. I want to feel the so called pressure these characters are being put under. It doesn’t have to be ultra serious 24/7, but issues get resolved within one episode and then rehashed a few episodes later with no further development. Especially with characters like Cleo and lagoona. They have been benched as side characters in this show, and side characters get much worse treatment.

‘The general episode progression is like this - introduce an issue, introduce a high stakes situation that involves the school, have all or one of the main 3 engage in a sequence of fights against this issue(or rapid solving of said issue through convince) - issue is resolved and lesson is told to viewers-characters reset for the next episode.

I know this is a children’s show, but that doesn’t mean it needs to have bad writing, not all kids are high off cocomelon. Kids deserve good writing in their media!

My next rant will be about clawdeen and her story this generation
