huh, this is shorter and less serious than I thought it’d be, ig this was also a way of getting out of my own head. I thought manifesting my dream life would be a bit challenging for some reason, but ig a dream life rlly isn’t as complex as I thought it was. I mean now I feel silly, it’s just a dream life! nothing more than a lifestyle and a few personal fixes. I feel like I just got humbled.

alright, I know what I want and I know how manifestation works. but just to make sure I don’t over complicate anything or things dont get confusing, I’ll create a sort of plan or outline. Little steps I can fall back on if I get a bit lost.

step number two, put your foot down and make the firm decision that you have it. this decision is for good, nothing u do can take this decision away so don’t u dare worry about “ruining progress” or “messing up”— u’re better than that.

step number three, once you’ve decided it’s done, it’s done. the only and I mean it when I say only thing for you to do is to act like it. imagine you, the creator of your reality, making the decision that you have something only to then be like “is it coming?” “do I have it?” BE FR!! act like you have it, think like you have it, and see the world as if you have it— because you do. you decided you did, didn’t u? It’s ur reality, what u say, goes. and no, you’re not acting like u have it to get something out of the 3D, you’re doing it for your sanity. Because you deserve a break, you deserve relief, you deserve to be the you that has it all!! let yourself be in the sowf because why shouldn’t u be certain you have it? don’t entertain anything that says u don’t. getting in the sowf is easy, u deciding u have it is all the confirmation u need. there’s no reason for u to not be certain u have it.

step number four, optional not necessary but it’s really gonna help and is fun. immerse yourself in the new story. experience it!! have fun!! u finally got what u want, u finally r who u want to be, so choose to live that life!! try methods for the sake of fulfilling urself (never to make anything appear in the 3D, u know better, 3D desperation doesn’t get anybody anywhere.) try out methods to have fun and be more familiar with having what u want.

that’s it girl, that’s all u gotta do, that’s all u ever had to do. decide it, experience it, assume it. u don’t always have to feel “good” or “happy” u just have to know u have what u want, u just have to assume. the goal is to truly know that u have it, to be faced with the 3D and still know it in ur bones u have what u want. u deserve to trust urself like that, u deserve to be fulfilled like that, and u deserve those things from YOU not from the 3D. U deserve to feel secure in urself, don’t let ur security come from the 3D. loa bloggers mean it when they say the materialization is simply the cherry on top and I get that now. For me, it’s about being able to depend and trust urself, to rely on urself, and in that way everything else comes off the pedestal.

Hello I spent like a week being abnormal about this (no I did not know the tarot cards by heart before this, yes I do now) so here is my definitive list of which princess matches which tarot card. Reasonings

The Fool I put the damsel down for pretty early, just because of the childish optimism, but later I was thinking about the damsel route and why it wouldn't fit the Lovers and I said the damsel is more about how they are rushing into it. And then I remembered the Fool is about rushing in lol. I couldn't really consider anything else after that

The Magician mentions the central nervous system and lungs, so I considered putting the nightmare here for paranoids mantra, but the card didn't really fit her that well and the central nervous system is different to the autonomous nervous system anyway so. The Moment of Clarity gets this spot for her practical breaking of you, and the success it brings her. Not one of my easiest placements but I'm still pretty happy with it

The high Priestess was hard to place because she's about the occult, and powerful women who don't need a man. If only there was a princess who fit that mold... (/s if it wasn't clear) so yeah. Half the princesses were written down here at one point. The Wraith gets this spot because I found other places for all the others I guess and also because "She could not find her strength in others, so she found it in herself."

The empress is again a powerful woman, but a loving and nurturing one, who encourages growth. It was both the growth and the partnership she has that gave her the adversary

The Emperor is about hierarchy and dominance. I knew very early on that the tower would fit best here. "This one is dominance."

The hierophant is about structure, appearances, and also marriage. Happily Ever After is all about being trapped within this structure, with ties specifically to marriage. Literally tell me I'm wrong?

The Lovers. Okay. So there's a few this could be. The Damsel, with the voice of the smitten? Not really as equal a partnership, as I mentioned in the Fool section. They don't really know each other. The Thorn, where you can kiss her? Well that ignores like. The entire rest of the route so no. Happily ever after? Maybe, but I prefer her in hierophant. The adversary, with your equal partnership in kicking each others asses? Easily, but I also put her elsewhere. Ironically, the Lovers was one of the last two cards I placed, and the only princesses left were the wild and the grey, and unfortunately I couldn't agree with the drowned grey going here. The wild has you literally being one, achieving a common goal. It's not my favourite placement but I dont hate it so.

The chariot is about putting in the hard work and seeing it through, and she does make an effort to capture you (swallow you whole) and bring you to the door so she can escape. Also it's about vehicles, and she literally acts as a vehicle for you. That idea was too funny to not do tbh

Justice is one of three cards that mention balance, so I wanted one of the ones where you merge to go here. Much like the scales of justice, it is about considering all sides and picking fairly, so it had to go to the spectre, who gets justice for her murder when you help her out. The spectre was written down for like half the cards on this list though my god

The hermit is about solitude and self introspection. The prisoner, sitting in silence for millenia, felt very fitting. I also wanted the cage to be here, because the image of the hermit is him holding up a lantern, and having the cage holding her head like that would be fun, but she fit better in the hanged man so.

The wheel of fortune was one of my later picks. Fate, and also cycles. Its a little vague, and can fit with quite a few princesses, but I put the stranger here. Is it the vibes? Something about coincidences and not meeting her feels similar, but I cant put my finger on it so if you can explain please do.

Strength, but of the inner sort. The Den didn't really have anywhere better to go, I don't know if instinct matches with any of the cards. I felt confidence in ones self was pretty similar to instinct, plus it has ties to animals.

The hanged man is self restrictions. I would have liked to put the thorn here, honestly, hanging from her vines. Ultimately it was the best choice for the cage, though, and I had another good option for the thorn. Anyway, the cage can be hanging from all those chains and hooks. "This one is a body that convinced herself she was only a set of eyes." Sounds like her limits are self imposed for sure!

Death and the tower have similar meanings in that things are coming to an end, and both of them I felt were good fits for both eye of the needle and the Fury. Ultimately I put eotn here because its more cyclical, and when she was the adversary she wanted to continue fighting over and over again.

Temperance is the second balance card, specifically about blending this time. Opposites merging, solving disputes. Felt very much like the princess and the dragon chapter. "This one is perspectives bleeding into one."

The Devil is a person tricking you, but also material security. I only ever put the witch down for this one, and I only ever put her down for one card lol. The mutual trickery and betrayal in her chapter felt too fitting. "A trick behind your back, and a trick behind mine."

The tower, like I said, is similar to death in that they are both about things ending. But the tower is more dramatic, about the sudden upheaval, so I thought thematically it matched with the Fury better, who is very upset and very taking it out on you. This is one of the cards I knew the meaning of from the beginning, so unfortunately there was never a point in which the tower was matched with the tower :(

The star is hope and healing. One of many that the spectre could have matched with. (I wanted to make her star shaped wound be the star... oh well). The Thorn fits well here, if you both choose to end the cycle of violence and leave together. The star also has ties to nature, which fits with the thorns... thorns... I would have preferred her at the hanged man for her self limiting, being trapped in her own thorns, but this is also a very good choice so I'm not too mad lol

The moon is fear and anxiety. Plus the moon only comes out at night, when everyone is sleeping, when you have nightmares! But mostly it's the vagueness, mystery and anxiety stuff.

The sun being joy meant I knew I wanted the razor here from the beginning. I briefly considered putting her at death (for the cycles, and also the uh, death) but I think the dying part of her route is not actually that important? Anyway the razor is my wife and I'm glad she's enjoying herself. "She is cruelty. But she is also joy." See, shifty gets it!

Judgement is where you look back on everything and judge yourself. It was one of the last two cards to be assigned, and the wild did not fit here at all. Plus the grey sort of punishes you for your actions? It's unavoidable, is my point.

The world is accomplishment, wholeness. She is as close to becoming the goddess she truly is as any vessel ever comes. "This one sits at the cusp of awakening." Shifty says. Also Apotheosis literally means climax so I had to put her at the end of the tarot, you understand.

Vi's Ending

**Spoilers for all of Arcane**

I have written about and discussed Vi in significant detail. However it was pointed out to me recently that her ending is worth its own detailed discussion and I completely agree. For those who have been sticking with me on these, you already know Vi is my favorite character. She means a lot to me, as she does to many of you for various reasons. So before we dive in let me say this:

Vi is NOT the Jinx

Vi is NOT a bad sister

Vi did NOT get Jinx killed

I have written in great detail defending and explaining each of these points, and because of that I will not detail those here. But if you are interested I'd love for you to check out my other posts and share your thoughts! Ultimately I am just another fan, and I am really enjoying celebrating the achievement in story telling this show has become, and its legendary characters.

The End:

At the end of this story, we find Violet, sitting alone, drinking, humming powder's song from the very first moments of the show. She appears deeply in thought and is curled up on herself, only opening up when her beloved Caitlyn joins her. They share a tender moment where Caitlyn asks her if she is still in this fight, to which Vi responds "I am the dirt under your nails cupcake, nothings gonna clean me out" and lays her head on Caitlyn's shoulder allowing herself to relax as Caitlyn smiles softly looking into the fire. This seems to be our last look at the couple outside of the game if Riot is to be believed (money talks people, keep these characters popular and they may listen!), and it has understandably sparked reactions across the board. For myself, I found it bittersweet. Beautiful and hopeful in many ways, but recognizing the weight of what they have survived, and validating the healing they still need. I view it as Vi finally being on the road to peace, just not quite there yet.

The Heart of Zaun:

I have extensively detailed who Vi is in other posts and therefore will spare you the diatribe here. But to properly appreciate and understand why her ending was so meaningful we do have to understand who she is.

Vi is not perfect. She impatient, quick to anger, stubborn beyond belief and impulsive. But these are things born of the dark and angry world she has been forced to survive in all her life. At her core, who is she really?

A Daughter

A Sister

A Warrior

A Guardian

What Vi proves time and time again throughout this story is that she is fiercely loyal, loving, and true. She is tough as nails and brave sure. But we also get these beautiful moments of fragility. Moments where her love, her fear and her hope bleed through the mask she keeps up showing us who she is beneath. Other lessons from Vander plays a major role in who she becomes as well:

"When people look up to you, you don't get to be selfish"

"Who are you willing to lose?"

Vi was already trying to care for the kids around her, and had at a young age been through so much trauma and loss. But as any teenager would, she still displayed a lack of understanding about the potential broader consequences of their actions. After her talks with Vander, almost every decision she makes she is trying to protect those she loves, or trying to atone when she feels she has fallen short. Her own happiness becomes her last priority in almost every situation. And her journey to overcome this, to learn that its okay for her to know tenderness, and peace, and love and that those things don't make her unworthy. This is Vi's inner journey.

She deserves the things she fights so hard to give the people she loves. I meant to re-blog it and hope I did, but another user pointed out something I have never considered. When she and Vander are talking on the bridge, and he gives here these lessons, what does she say is the reason she wants to fight? - that she grew up knowing she was less than, but she wants more for her little sister and will bleed to do it. Even at that young age, before experiencing so much of the pain she goes through, she doesn't see herself as deserving of that same defense as everyone else in her life... She believes is meant to be the shield, and never the shielded.. An inspiring and heroic notion on paper, heartbreaking to recognize in a teenage girl who is only just beginning in life.

Back To The End:

Okay, with that refresher lets return to Vi's ending. We see this beautiful, tender moment between Vi and the woman she loves. And sure, on the surface of the moment alone it appears your standard happy ending. Safe, warm, and in the company of the woman she loves. These are all undoubtedly good things. But context matters. No decision in this show, no plot point, no animation, no detail is accidental. So we need to account for the following factors:

They have just survived a truly terrifying battle which no matter the result in terms of life and death ,would be deeply traumatizing

She and the woman she loves have made it through together its true (thank god). On a purely physical level, Caitlyn's heroic willingness to sacrifice a part of her own body to achieve victory has left her forever changed. And Vi's body has become a tapestry of scars from a life time of sacrifice and struggle

Caitlyn and Vi's reconciliation is a controversial topic in the fandom. I feel that it was justified in terms of us being given the necessary pieces to believe it, but rushed (the whole season was). Like if I asked a student to show me his work on a math equation, he got the correct answer, but he could only show me the beginning of each step he took to solve it. Correct, but incomplete. All of that to say this, their scene in the jail cell was beautiful, and it was full of meaning far more than the spicy quality (although god damn who are we kidding), but we are talking about months of time apart, with both of them living through an extremely dark period, all precipitated by an extremely traumatic "breakup". I don't think it's unreasonable to assume they have more to work through and heal from regarding this issue, although thankfully their love for each other remains strong.

The death toll of this battle is seemingly enormous although we are not given an exact number. The impact of this is obvious. And although I agree his character was not perfectly utilized, I saw Loris as the face of the countless faceless citizens of Piltover and Zaun who died in this conflict. His death right in front of Vi happening so quickly, and brutally.

Vander.. Vi had to watch her adopted father die not once, not twice, but three times. The first time after saving her life, the second time after they seemed so close to saving his, and the third time with him very nearly killing her. I'm not a mental health professional but I don't think I need to be in order to suggest this may leave lasting emotional and mental scars on her

Jinx. Vi's crusade for her sister's soul begins the moment she steps out of Stillwater with Caitlyn. The relationship between Vi and Jinx is far too complex and detailed to cover in a bullet point like this, and is one of the pillars upon which this show came to be. I'm not getting into fault or blame or any of that right now, because what it comes down to is this. Vi loves Jinx and fought so.. so hard to BE her sister again. And finally, right at the end when it seems like they are finally going to be okay, she loses Jinx. again (not dead but Vi doesn't know that). And why? because Vi breaks at the sight at the sight of Vander's body and Jinx sacrifices herself to save her. Vi's breakdown is heartbreaking. It its understandable, its realistic, its painful and its human.. But after a life time punishing herself for how she feels she failed her sister.. it hurts to admit the truth that as things stand now, Vi will probably carry the guilt of Jinx's death for the rest of her life.

I know that is all so bleak, and so heavy. And it hurts because you want to see Vi happy. We want to see her and Jinx living as sisters catching up on the time that was stolen from them. We want to see a world where she and Caitlyn are energetic and happy and healed. We want to see Vi in some way acknowledge that in the end, Jinx's sacrifice was not because Vi failed her. It was because Jinx saw that her sister who had always loved and believed in her, needed her this time. That the woman who had always stood for those she loved needed someone to stand for her. So Jinx became the shield Vi never believed she deserved.

That Vi is a bad-ass is never in dispute. We see her fight countless times in defense of those she loves, and do so quite well. Her journey is not to find her strength. It is to recognize that she is worth more than that. She deserves more. And our hope for her is born of the changes we see. As her relationship with Caitlyn evolves, and she sees her belief in her sister finally validated, She comes to understand she has more to offer than the strength of her arms.

Her relationship with Caitlyn: Their love story is so amazing, and complex, and layered. It is far too much to cover as a bullet point in another post like this and I do intend to deep-dive it soon. But in terms of this discussion, I want to stay this. That Vi and Caitlyn have their ups and downs is obvious. Its not that every moment of their time together is an unending parade of joy and romance, that would be not only bad story telling but not realistic. But the best romantic partners are those people who can fall into the flames together and walk out not untouched, but re-forged into something stronger. These two women are a great example of this. There are many important moments in their relationship that greatly effect Vi, but I am going to focus on just one:

Caitlyn Finds Vi in Jinx's Cell:

As I mentioned previously, this scene is so important for so many reasons. For our purposes, we need to remember what leads up to it. Vi immediately goes to rescue Jinx after confronting Caitlyn over her imprisonment, only for Jinx to stun her and leave her in the cell herself (there is so much context and meaning here in terms of Jinx and Vi/Jinx but we are focusing on Caitlyn right now). Then Caitlyn finds her. Alone. In the cell of the woman who killed her mother. Now there are a lot of ways this could go and Vi is clearly expecting the worst. She laments that she always chooses wrong trusting and believing in Jinx, and that this time its cost her everything. Her sister is gone. She assumes Caitlyn will be enraged, and not to mention she is in this incredibly vulnerable state, in a jail cell, after surviving seven years of false imprisonment that started when she was still in her teens. But it doesn't go how she expects.

"Sorry to say, you've grown a bit predictable"

Vi believes that this part of her, this emotional, trusting, vulnerable part of her is always wrong. But Caitlyn reveals just how much she knows that part of Vi. And not only knows, but accepts it, predicted it, and even stepped in to help the woman she loves, putting aside her own hate and bitterness. Its a powerful moment. It shows Vi just how much she is worth to Caitlyn, and it has nothing to do with her fists. Just her heart. And Vi's response to this revelation shows us maybe the first time in the entire story, where given this tiny seed of evidence that she may deserve to be happy, she chooses to let herself be. Right there in that cell with Caitlyn.

Her Relationship With Jinx:

Like Caitlyn, this relationship could only be explored properly through it's own deep dive. So again, I am going to focus on a single moment between these two as evidence of Vi hard earned affirmation of her refusal to quit on those she loves. When Vi goes to break Jinx out of jail, Jinx stuns her and escapes instead, leaving her locked inside. As Vi panics for her sister, Jinx walks away, pleading with Vi to let herself be happy, and to stop looking for her. This of course leads to the incident we just mentioned in which Vi claims she always chooses wrong in trusting her sister. "I really thought she'd help" Vi says to Caitlyn about her sister when Cait arrives. And how does her belief in her sister shake out? Jinx rides in on a war balloon at the head of an under city army, and saves the day... and then later on, saves Vi's very life at what seems to be (We know better) the expense of her own. Vi was right about her sister all along.. its just that some lessons are hard won indeed..

Conclusion:

Vi is an amazing character who has quite frankly, earned her rest. And that's what the end of the show is sharing with us. Vi is warrior. She has fought, and bled, and lost so much, but she has endured. Through her two most important relationships in her life she has found the road to the recovery from the many, many wounds her existence has left on her, and they are still wounds that need healing. There is grief, and pain, and guilt still dwelling in her. But we have seen the seeds of her self-worth beginning to bloom and it is in them that we place our hope for Vi. Because she has an inkling that what Vander told her, the same thing the woman she loves noticed within hours of of meeting her, and the same reason Jinx knew Vi would never give up on her, has always been a far greater power than her ability to do violence.

This is one interaction between Cale and Earth 2 LSH that lives rent free in my head and brings me to tears every time I read it. Even more after recently reading Cale and Sui Khan/LSH’s reunion in book 2.

This means so much for both Earth 2 LSH and Cale/ KRS, but specially for Cale/KRS because we know! we know how much he has suffered! How much he struggled!! that even though it was a painful and lonely journey, that even though he fell and fell again, he stood up and kept on going. He kept on living!! He persisted!! And now, even though not everything is going his way, he has people he can trust and lean on. He’s no longer on his own… Of course, he’s nowhere near “healed” of his trauma, and that’s ok. There’s no such thing as being completely healed from our past. However, we can grow from it and we can lean on our people and more importantly on ourselves! That’s something I learned from Cale/KRS. As long as I have faith in my self and trust my people there’s nothing I can’t overcome, even if it’s difficult.

I love them so much!!😭♥️

Shatabhisha- Stuck in a loop!?⭕️

Ruled by Rahu and situated in a sign governed by Saturn, Shatabhisha Nakshatra intertwines the themes of Rahu and Saturn.

Rahu represents obsession, addiction, perfectionism, illusion, desires, and the material world. Saturn, on the other hand, symbolizes restriction, ambition, delays, and discipline. In the film, her character, Sergeant Rita Vrataski, helps Major William Cage (Tom Cruise) break free from a time loop by repeatedly facing and overcoming challenges. Rita’s journey in the movie reflects the Shatabhisha themes of perseverance, healing and ultimately, breaking the cycle to achieve a greater purpose.

Dealing with Rahu's influence can lead to excess, a desire to experience, feel everything or nothing.

However, understanding one's restrictions and seeing the bigger picture can bring freedom. Recognizing and accepting personal limitations allows one to channel obsessive desires into sustaining something meaningful in the material world.

By acknowledging and respecting these restrictions, individuals can transform Rahu's chaotic energy into focused ambition and disciplined action, leading to significant achievements and personal growth.

i'm not sure if i've seen anyone talk about it, but i was thinking about how bittersweet spawn astarion's ending is and why i'm grateful that's the case. this got a little longer than intended, so i've put the rest beneath the cut.

i can't remember where it is or what the exact dialogue is, but i recall at some point astarion is talking about killing cazador and how it's going to basically be this amazing, cathartic experience. and in some ways, it is; when he falls to his knees and starts sobbing, there's definitely a lot of relief there, that it's finally over. but when you talk to astarion right after that, he doesn't seem as happy as you might expect.

he even admits to feeling "a little numb" about the whole experience. when you talk to him back at camp (post graveyard scene), he still seems to be struggling with what happened.

for anyone who's ever struggled with their own personal trauma, i'm sure many of us have had that moment where we finally confront the person or thing responsible for all of it and, yeah, a lot of the time there's still a lot of self doubt that lingers or having to come to terms with the fact that things aren't magically fixed. you still have to carry that pain with you, in one way or another. that terrifying moment of: okay, what now? and it sucks. even astarion seems to realize that if you ask him what freedom feels like during the graveyard scene.

even though astarion is grateful that you, as the player, saw something in him and gave him the strength to face his trauma and take the first step towards overcoming it, he knows that he'll have to return to the shadows soon enough, as soon as the tadpole is gone.

and sure enough, after the netherbrain is defeated, he starts burning in the sun and has to run and hide. and while it does feel really sad, that's the point. i like that this version of his ending is bittersweet, instead of leaving with him perfectly happy. he's in a much better place than he was at the beginning of the game, certainly, but it's going to take a long time for him to overcome two centuries' worth of trauma. and while the epilogue does sort of walk some of that back, i still appreciate it for what it is. healing is a journey, and six months is decently long enough time for a romanced astarion to see tav as the "counterweight to two hundred years of misery" or a non-romanced astarion to still appear content about where he is at this point in his life. i think what he says about "these shadows, this darkness - it's all part of me" is actually really poignant, because i see it as him accepting everything that happened and embracing it as part of who he is, rather than trying to just sweep it all under the rug. that's not to say that his trauma defines him (nor does anyone's trauma), but i think it takes a lot of strength to say "yes, this happened to me, it was absolutely unfair, but i'm going to own it and come out stronger on the other side." overall, the tldr is basically: i like that picking the "good" ending still comes with consequences and isn't completely black and white - because that's not how life is. if it was a completely happy ending, i think it would undermine a lot of the narrative and not be nearly as satisfying. as someone who's had to deal with their own trauma, i think larian really hit the thematic nail on the head here. being able to help astarion with his own trauma has, in a way, helped me to deal with my own. i can't think of any other game i've played that did that for me, and it's why this game will always have a special place in my heart.

A/N: been feeling super angsty. So... Here's this. I'm sorry it's been so long and I've been posting rarely. I'm working on a lot of stuff rn.

Donnie

You were sitting in his room, rubbing your arms. You normally covered them up, but they'd been bothering you. He freezes when he comes into the room, seeing the scars on your wrists. He kneels in front of you, cupping your wrist in his hand.

"When did....." He looks up at you, brows furrowed in confusion. Donnie's thumb brushes over your scars comfortingly. "You're not doing this anymore, are you?"

You shake your head, your heart pounding anxiously in your ears. You had stopped a while ago.

What would he think of you now after seeing something so disgusting?

"I'm proud of you..." He murmurs, moving to cup your face, his eyes full of understanding. "It takes strength to break through that cycle. You don't have to talk about it, I'm not an expert... But I'll always be here." Donnie leans forward and kisses your forehead, his thumb brushing your cheek. "All that matters is your health. It's an uphill battle... I'll be there every step."

Leo

Leo's eyes widen as he catches sight of your scars. His cheerful expression fades, replaces with concern and empathy. He takes a step closer, his voice softens.

"I um.... I didn't know about this... But it's okay, really. You're not alone anymore, okay?" He reaches out, hesitating for a moment before gently taking your hand in his, his thumb rubbing the back of your hand soothingly. "I can tell you don't do it anymore, I'm proud of you for overcoming this. If you ever need anyone, I'm right here. I want to be there for you, through good and bad. We'll face it together, alright?"

He offers a smile, trying his best to reassure you. Despite his usual lighthearted nature, Leo understands the serious of the situation and is determined to be there for you, providing comfort and support.

Mikey

His eyes widen, gently taking your hands, his grip firm yet tender. "Woah... I didn't know... Why didn't you tell me about this before? I wish you would've told me..." His voice cracks slightly, betraying his emotions. Mikey's heart aches at the sight of your scars, he can't help but feel a pang of guilt for not noticing sooner.

"But I want you to know, I'm here for you. Always. You don't have to carry any burdens alone anymore. We're a team and I'll support you through everything." Mikey leans in to place a soft kiss on your forehead, his fingers lightly tracing over the scars. "I'm proud of you, it takes a lot. I promise, I'll do my best to create a safe space for you, where you feel loved and accepted."

Mikey's eyes shimmer with sincerity as he gazes at you. "These scars, they're a part of your journey. They remind me of how far you've come. You are not defined by your past, you are so much more than that... And I love every part of you, scars and all."

Raph

His heart sinks, a mix of concern and sadness washing over him. He carefully approaches you, his voice filled with genuine concern.

"I... I didn't know. Why didn't you tell me...?" He reaches out tentatively, wanting to comfort you, but unsure of how to proceed. "If there's anything you wanna talk about, or if you just need someone to be here with you, I'm here. You're so strong, I believe in you."

He gently reaches out, touching one of the scars. His fingers trace them slowly, his touch tender but hesitant. He looks up at you, his expression a mix of empathy and determination. "We'll get through this, together. I'll support you, love you, and help you heal. I'm so proud of you, but if you ever feel this darkness creeping back, promise me you'll come to me. Promise me you won't face it alone."

I was here previosuly with a question about decisions with the character/plot etc. I have a better way of asking: When writing a character-driven plot, how do you come up with the character's life + the story that makes them take that journey? Like, if a character has trauma; how do you decide the story that puts them in a healing journey? How do you come up with who that character is, and the story that helps them overcome that trauma? For example. Thanks!

Figuring Out a Character-Driven Story

If you're starting with nothing more than a trauma you want your character to heal from, you'll have to sit down and do a big brainstorming session. Here are the things to think about...

1 - Internal Conflict - The trauma is only the first step. You also need to consider how this trauma influenced their life and who they became. What mistaken belief do they hold about themselves, the world, or others that affects their behavior?

2 - Type of Character Arc - Once you know their internal conflict, you can think about how you want them to grow or change. Some character arcs are negative, meaning that the character changes for the worse. Some character arcs are static, meaning that the character themselves don't change, but they change something about their situation or the world around them. Most character arcs are positive, meaning that the character grows and changes for the better. So, decide which one you want to do. The kind of story you want to tell will play a role in which you go with. If you want your story to have a happy or hopeful ending, you'll probably go with a positive change arc or a static arc. If you want your story to have a sad or dark ending, you would probably go with a negative change arc.

3 - Plotting the Character Arc - Once you decide on the type of arc you want to do, you can start to think about what kinds of things need to happen in order to facilitate the change you want to foment in your character or their situation/world. For example, if you're doing a positive growth arc, you would need to look at their mistaken belief and figure out what kinds of experiences they would need to have in order to change their mind and help them to realize what they believe isn't true. Make a list of potential events, situations, or experiences that could bring them or their situation/world through that change.

4 - Figuring Out the Character and World - Now that you have an idea of the types of events, situations, and experiences your character needs to have in order to change or change their situation/world, you can start to think about the setting where these things would make the most sense. Part of this, too, will be thinking about the types of stories you love to read, watch, play, and write, and see if any of those settings would work for this story. Again, this is all about brainstorming possibilities... plugging what you have into the possibilities to see what works and see what inspires you. Same with the character... once you have the setting, you can think more about who this person might be who has this internal conflict and lives in this world.

5 - Put It All Together - Now you have to take all that brainstorming and start to put it into a plot. Is there a framework you can use to link all of these events and experiences together in a way that makes sense? Would it help to have an external conflict, too? (Many stories these days are both character and plot-driven...) Who or what is the antagonist that creates obstacles your character must overcome? What are those obstacles? How will they overcome them? You can have a look at my Plot & Story Structure for more help with this part.
