This fanon blend of book and show Devil's Minion is like The Ship Dynamic of All Time to me. I need y'all to understand:

It's 1973. You're a bright young reporter with a point of view. You ask to interview a vampire. His boyfriend is hot. The interview goes poorly. The vampire almost kills you after you ask him to turn you, and then his boyfriend tortures the both of you for the better part of a week in a fit of jealousy. You wake up in a drug den. Your memories are hazy.

You remember some things about vampires and set off to New Orleans to find one who will turn you. You find Armand. Armand is a vampire. Armand is hot. And vaguely familiar. He torments you and then tells you to run because he likes the chase. He chases you across countries and continents, funding your travels here and there, asking you things about the modern era and technology, saving your life a few times even. He says when he gets bored, the chase will end, but he doesn't get bored, and the chase ends anyway, in infatuation. You spend more than a decade together as lovers; you live in New York together, take night classes, go dancing, discuss philosophy, and watch sci-fi movies hundreds of times. He gives you his blood, and it's the best thing you've ever tasted. But it's not perfect, it's far from perfect. He refuses you the gift of eternal life, no matter how much you beg. You become addicted to his blood, a thrall to his nature. You leave when he won't turn you, because he must not love you, but you beg him to take you back when you need a fix. You're dependent on his blood. You're growing more sickly by the day. You're dying. You wake up in a rehab facility. Your memories are hazy.

You get married, have kids, get divorced, get remarried, win two pulitzers, get divorced. Your kids won't speak to you. You're a hard-hitting journalist with a point of view. And the stories, getting answers, getting the truth, have always been more important than investment in your own relationships. Never mind that the truth of your own life doesn't come so easily. Your memories are hazy, but there's a sense of loss, like the one thing that really mattered is forever beyond your reach. Like there's a gap no one can ever fill.

It's 2022. You're an old reporter, dying from a degenerative disease, but you still have a point of view. You are asked to interview a vampire. His boyfriend is hot. There's something coming unearthed at the back of your mind.

So, The Glass Scientists by Sage Cotugno is one of my absolute favourite Jekyll and Hyde stories and I would highly recommend it.

It has the same tone of lighthearted silliness mixed with genuine tragedy which I loved about the original novella

I gives Jekyll and Hyde both ample screentime so you get to see both of their perspectives, and get to know them both as people

It doesn't play the "Jekyll's pure good, Hyde's pure bad" card, which I appreciate

The character designs are great and Hyde's facial expressions are priceless!

It keeps in the queer narrative, which is a major part for many people reading the novella but I haven't seen other adaptations do it very well

It has a werewolf, and he's a very nice and sweet young man

And it's Webcomic, so it's free to read on the internet!

Shakaijin Yuri Light Novel 'Did You Think My Yuri Was a Sales Pitch?' License in English

On Saturday, at Anime NYC 2024, Yen Press announced that it has licensed Neru Asakura's Yuri light novel Did You Think My Yuri Was a Sales Pitch? (Watashi no Yuri mo, Eigyou da to Omotta?). The single-volume is illustrated by Chigusa Minori (Shino to Ren).

Yen Press describes the light novel:

Suzune Senmiya, a young voice actress, has been struggling for six months to get over the retirement of her favorite idol, Karin Kanezuki. One day, Karin shows up as a new voice actress in Suzune’s agency! While Suzune tries to play it cool and keep her distance, Karin aggressively closes the gap between them. And as Suzune starts to see unexpected sides of Karin, she begins to perceive her not just as an idol but as a woman. 

Did You Think My Yuri Was a Sales Pitch? was published in Japan in 2023 under Kadokawa's Dengeki Bunko imprint. It received generally positive reviews from audiences who noted it was short, light, and cute with just a little bit of drama.

The novel is written by Yuri light novel author Neru Asakura, who has published a few light novels in the past few years, including Kare nanka yori, Watashi no Hou ga Ii desho? Did You Think My Yuri Was a Sales Pitch? is their first work to be licensed in English. It is illustrated by Minori Chigusa who is primarily known for their original Yuri works and light novel illustrations. Jenny McKeon (Bloom Into You, Kobayashi's Dragon Maid) translates the light novel into English.

I feel like we talk a lot about how similar Wilbur is to his mom, which makes sense given that at first glance it looks as if mother nature just went "copy, paste and genderbend" and called it a day, but I love the fact that there's also a bunch of little moments in the movie that show that Wilbur is very much his father's son too.
