Steve being Eddie’s bi or gay awakening whatever. Eddie thinks he’s just so grateful for Steve—I mean the man literally carried him in his arms out of hell like some mythological hero and then basically struck the fear of god on the medical staff who refused to help—so of course he’s obsessed with him, he owes him his life! It’s a given that they drive together on a weekend trip Chicago to see a show Steve’s been dying to see. The man saved his life! Eddie’s just grateful, that’s all. That’s why he’s so surprised when Robin confronts him about his “crush”, what crush?? Eddie likes girls! And yes, Steve is an attractive guy, half the town agrees, that’s not a controversial opinion. Who cares that Eddie thinks Steve could be a Hollywood heartthrob if he put his mind and talents to it. He doesn’t have a crush, that’s ridiculous. But Eddie is Eddie and he can’t just leave something be so of course he ends up cornering Nancy of all people to ask her how did she know she liked Steve back in junior year. To his absolute surprise she laughs in his face and tells him not to worry, she’s not interested, and she won’t stand in the way. She also says she’s happy for them, that she always knew Steve “played for both teams” and she’s happy he’s with someone who takes care of him. After that ridiculous conversation Nancy leaves, and Eddie is even more confused than before, because apparently Steve likes guys too, but Eddie doesn’t! Doesn’t he? Nancy is right that he likes taking care of Steve but thats because… well he’s running out of excuses isn’t he?

I want to remind you guys that this is fandom. I trust that all of you are familiar with this concept. People say things, and draw things and write things and all of those are pure expressions of love and passion they have for these characters and this show. People will also have different opinions from you, some of them negative, other positive - as long as we are not jumping to each others' throats, there is no harm in this. There is no harm in headcanons, and conversations, and jokes, and theories, and even disagreements. Fandom is specifically a place to explore ideas and discuss things that we like and dislike.

Saw this ridiculous thread on twitter that really deserves to be taken apart so lets go:

First of all while it's obvious that Buck is attracted to T*mmy (and at this point likes him a lot considering they're now dating) in 7x04 the the main person who's attention he was trying to get was Eddie's. I did an entire breakdown of that ep btw for anyone who is still confused about what was really happening there.

Buck goes to see Maddie after the basketball incidient and this is how the conversation goes

Maddie: You didn't mean to hurt him did you?

Buck: I don't know. I was pissed you know. Seeing him and T*mmy being such good friends after only two weeks. I felt left out and I guess I was trying to get his attention.

I know that you B/T shippers desperately want to see 7x04 as Buck sent the entire episode being super smitten over T*mmy but that is just not the story that show is telling. The entire conversation that Maddie and Buck are having in this scene prior to T*mmy even being mentioned is about Eddie. Buck and Maddie are talking about Eddie's injury and how Buck thinks Eddie won't want to talk to him after what he did. The focus is on Eddie. Also it doesn't make any logical sense for Buck to be so upset and emotionally invested over some guy he barely knows. He's upset because he thinks Eddie his best friend can so easily replace him in his life.

You're defending T*mmy because you say he left the date not wanting to pressure Buck...yet he almost outed him in front of Eddie (someone T*mmy knows is important to Buck). By the time they were on their first date T*mmy already knew how new all of this was for Buck and how nervous he was, I mean the man was talking about how he was an ally ffs while he was on a date with a guy. And while Buck's comment about finding some hot chicks was embarrassing and I get T*mmy not liking it he should have had a little more understanding given where Buck is in his journey. Instead he made it worse by making that crass closet comment.

It's also just plain rude to go on a date with someone and then ditch them in the middle without making sure they have a way home and without any real explanation (I'm not talking about more extreme circumstances like your date just being an ahole btw). Sure T*mmy told Buck he didn't think he was ready but that was really all he said. Buck was likely left feeling like he was being punished for having a moment where he acted out of fear. T*mmy could have shared an Uber with Buck and talked to him on the way home and they could have seen if they wanted things to continue. But it was like at the first sign of Buck needing more support he bailed.

My personal feeling on the first kiss is that T*mmy really should have given something of an indication of his intentions before he kissed Buck.

Speaking as someone who is bi if I was into another woman and they were giving off the kind of vibes Buck was I wouldn't just jump in there and kiss them. I know they try to make everything more sexy for tv and it's the oldest trope in the book to have the hot guy grab the main's face and lay one on them but given all of the signals Buck was sending out T*mmy really should have gotten more confirmation beforehand.

I'm not accusing T*mmy of anything and clearly Buck liked the kiss and it was also clear in that loft scene he was attracted to T*mmy. Still the vibes he was giving off were also really nervous an unsure and he talked about Eddie 90% of the time literally moments before the kiss. Why jump in an kiss someone who seems that nervous and probably is into someone else? I don't know it's just issues I have with that scene.

When it comes to a lot of the discourse I see around between Buddie shippers and B/T shippers I feel like a major difference is in how we perceive the show. I feel like a lot of B/T shippers mostly just take the show at face value. If something is written a certain way and presented that way to you on the screen you take that as exactly what the story is saying but you're missing the more subtle messages in the writing.

Like the whole scene with Buck, T*mmy, and Eddie in the karaoke bar had a lot going on beyond just what the dialogue was saying and it was likely missed by those who weren't paying attention.

Yeah T*mmy was on call and yeah that could be a reason why he didn't dress up. Although as many have pointed out there's plenty of things he could have worn that would have made it easy for him to quickly change and get to work and still put an ounce of effort into something that was clearly important to Buck.

But the not dressing up wasn't even the biggest issue it was that when Buck seemed hurt by the fact that T*mmy didn't care enough to dress up T*mmy was just like it's not that big of deal get over it (in the demeanor with which he responded). Obviously it was just a silly bachelor party one Chim didn't even show up to and no one else even dressed up for it (besides Eddie) but for me it's another red flag showing that T*mmy doesn't listen to Buck and doesn't have his back like a (potential) partner should.

Also you can defend T*mmy all you want but very deliberate choices were made with this Buddie and T*mmy scene. They chose to have Eddie arrive first and call a lot of attention to what he was wearing. Right before they had T*mmy come in and have that whole convo about his lack of costume to Buck.

Multiple times in the episode they pointed out that Buddie were wearing a couples costume and that Eddie is the one who picked it out. Not only were they matching in the bachelor party outfits but if you look at their outfits in the later scenes while looking for Chim they're coordinated like spouses there too.

They chose to have Eddie be the one to stay with Buck when everyone else left. They chose to have Buddie partying alone when they could have easily had T*mmy there. Especially when you consider this is a much shorter season every scene and every ep means even more than it would in a normal season. If they were trying to build B/T and get the audience to warm to them showing them partying even showing B/T partying with Eddie would have been a great time to do that instead they only focused on Buddie.

I'm happy for B/T shippers that you got your kissing scene at the end but here's what I saw. In a very overstuffed episode they chose to have a ton of Buddie stuff including having Buck and Eddie show up together multiple times while everyone was out looking for Chimney. Meanwhile B/T got one small scene (which included Eddie) in the beginning and one kiss at the end away from everyone else (that immediately cut to Eddie and Chris). The kiss didn't even feel like it's main purpose was to further develop the B/T relationship, it felt like it happened more to serve Buck's bi storyline so he could come out to everyone.

Also others have pointed this out but just because B/T have physical chemistry doesn't mean they have romantic chemistry. They seem like very different people. Too different in my opinion. In what little scenes of conversation they've actually had I just see two people who won't be compatible long term.

Juxtapose that with Eddie and Buck and just how much alike they are while at the same time being so uniquely themselves. How they're able to call each other out when they need to like when Eddie pointed out how it was maybe not the greatest idea for Buck to come out at his sister's wedding.

You can dislike Buddie and ship B/T all you want but you can't deny how all Buck and Eddie have to do is stand near each other and they exude chemistry and compatibility. People who don't even watch the show assume they're together and there's not even one scene of them kissing. Yet the main reason people ship B/T is because they're two hot guys who've kissed twice. There is no other real point of substance there. Now tell me again which fandom is guilty of fetishization here?

You can call us the delusional ones all you want but EVERYTHING is screaming in your face that T*mmy isn't going to last forever. I don't even care if he comes back for season 8. T*mmy and B/T have a giant ticking clock over them and sooner or later their time will be up. There is no way Tim, the writers, ABC, Ryan, Oliver, etc would pass on the phenomenon that Buddie will be once it goes canon. The show already gets a ton of attention just from talking about the possibility of them going canon. Every single article where they even mention Buddie gets attention.

It's hilarious to me that you say the actors and showrunners are what rooting for B/T? In all the the interviews they talk about Buddie now. Tim literally was saying he cares about Buddie too in his response to a fan the other day. He literally said he included Buddie scene specifically for our fandom. Oliver is always posting and liking stuff related to his scenes with Ryan and Buddie. When Ryan gets to do interviews he gushes about Buddie and Oliver. Meanwhile B/T which is supposed to be the canon ship in this important queer storyline they're doing barely gets mentioned. Let me know when that same energy is being given to your ship.

Do we really want to believe that Brett's basically unmotivated hatred towards Liam has turned into the way he looks at him like 3 episodes later just because Scott saved him?

I mean Brett locked Liam in a cage and basically traumatized him for life just because they lost a game of a sport that honestly doesn't seem to matter to him that much. And then like 3 episodes later Brett smells Liam's fear in the middle of the field, pulls him out of a panic attack, asks him if he's okay only to ask him again in the locker room telling him he has "strength of character" (I'm referring to the episode where Liam hallucinates about Berserkers)

I mean let's say Brett was chained up in a closet and was mad at Liam for the way he made him feel so he took it out on him but being almost dead reorganized his priorities.

The Sinema scene? Brett is bi (or pan) like... what was that scene for (the one where he dances with the girl and the boy)? And the way he looks at Liam afterwards while they're talking? The way he throws himself on Lucas to protect Mason and Liam? Protective boyfriend mood on.

In the episode where Hayden and Liam compete on the field (Lacrosse and soccer) Brett is there (why?) and not only notices the sexual tension between them but even asks Mason about it (who tells him the story about the fight)

Brett is there when Liam and Hayden are competing (Sinema and training) and then he practically disappears until the charity game (during the period in which they are in crisis for Theo's pack facts). By the way Brett and Liam exchange their last words just before Hayden goes to Liam to tell him that she chooses him. Then Brett disappears again until Hayden leaves Liam and reappears to help him with the freshmen lacrosse, but ends up trying to help him with his anger.

After that Brett dies.

Note: technically Brett dies because of Liam's. I mean Monroe sees the ball that Liam punctured with his claws but when he looks at the field Liam is already gone and there is only Brett. Liam should have been the target and Brett was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Aside from the obvious trauma of not being able to save two friends and having to watch them die (which alone would explain Liam's reaction) everything that happens next?

In the police station episode Jiang and Tierney are basically Brett and Lory (including Satomi's pack and the tattoo) which is basically a trigger for Liam that only explodes when he sees Brett's jersey number on the hunters' arrow. I mean do we really want to make it seem like it's all a coincidence and not extremely personal to Liam? Even Theo realizes that Liam is projecting

And then Brett reappears in the zoo scene (when Liam has the cage flashback) a sign that he has literally not gotten over anything related to Brett (not the bullying, not his feelings, not his death)

And last but not least. How similar are Theo and Brett? I mean I think people have types but Liam basically sees Theo and is like yeah, I want exactly this orphaned, bloody traumatized, sarcastic, manipulative, incredibly sexy guy with six-pack abs and green eyes.

I am begging you to get out more. Please, actually go to a Rocky Horror Picture Show showing! You don't even have to go in! Just look at the crowd that shows up. You have this absolutely detached from reality notion of who is watching it and why, and I swear on any god you care to name, if you actually go to one you will see throngs of trans women having an amazing time. It's not for everyone, sure, but (and I can't believe I have to say this) no part of the queer community is a monolith and you need to actually try and understand the experiences of others who feel differently than you.

But no, you know what? I'm gonna put a positive note on this.

Buckle in, I'm planning on making up for all the negativity around this with quite a bit of positivity and it's gonna be long.

The very first time I watched Rocky Horror Picture Show, I was in college, freshman year. I knew I was a bi guy by that point, had dated a guy*, and still felt absolutely petrified being openly bi around strangers. I had no idea how messy my queerness actually was by this point.

*She turned out to be a transfeminine mostly woman genderfluid person later, but at the time it was my first gay relationship.

I'd just had a talk with a straight guy on my floor. He'd made some comments about how he supported pride, but like ... not the gay people who are so out there, you know? That's just uncomfortable.

And damn me, I agreed with him. Not because I actually agreed with him but because the thought of disagreeing petrified me. I didn't know how to say that I actually wanted to be one of those out there queer people. That I wanted to have that bravery. I want it to be accepted, of course, but gods I also craved the simply bravery of people who hung pride flags in their own rooms. Who felt confident enough to say any flavor of "I don't fucking care if you want it, I'm here, I'm queer, get used to it."

And then a trans girl I'd met during orientation invited me to watch The Rocky Horror Picture Show with her. I had no idea what this was. But she got what felt like every damn queer freshman in the entire dorm together. Gay, bi, trans, whatever. Our straight friends? Sure. Some of us who turned out to be very queer later and who she somehow clocked? You betcha. She got us all together in the dorm lounge, which was open and faced the elevator. Every single person moving through the dorm that evening would be able to see us.

And she put The Rocky Horror Picture Show on.

It was every single queerphobic stereotype the 70s could throw together. Transmisogyny? Hah! That shit went beyond transmisogynistic depiction, the demons out of the fevered imaginings of 70s straight culture weren't broken down into categories. Faggot? Dyke? Tranny? They all meant the same thing and it was totally indistinguishable to your average suburban straight person in the 70s. They had no damn concept up there being a difference between a guy who wants to fuck other guys and a guy who pretends to be a woman. The decree of vicious stereotypical othering on display was literally beyond current conception. It was everything that straight guy I had talked to was thinking of when he said "gay people who are so out there", distilled and refined.

And it. Was. Joyous.

It was a movie which took hold of all of those stereotypes, even the explicitly predatory and infectious and doomsaying ones, and screamed "YES! SO FUCKING WHAT!? WE'RE HERE, WE'RE QUEER, AND WE FUCKING LOVE IT!" It is a movie which takes the stuffy suburban point of view characters and makes them queer. It does so in a way that embodies every aspect of the 70s fear of infectious homosexual permiscuity and then shows it as joyous! As liberating and wonderful and the best fucking experience of their lives!! Its characters were messy and full of conflict and doomed from the beginning and also gloriously fucking alive and happy to be queer!!!

At the end of it the trans girl I'd met during orientation, who would go on to be my friend for the next decade to this day, asked me what I thought of it.

I said I really liked it.

I meant it had changed my life.

She started gushing about it, and a lot of the freshman went back to their dorms at this point, but the rest of us talked for what must have been longer than the movie itself about all of the queerness in it. Yeah about the trans misogynistic stereotypes and the homophobic stereotypes and the complicated way the movie both mirrors and subverts the way 70s discourse about queer culture and even the way it elided cis queer women. And we did it all in plain view of everybody. We were the queers in your face and it meant the world to me.

The second time I went to a Rocky Horror Picture Show showing, I was actually invited by a straight friend who was invited by some queer friends he didn't know quite as well as me. (It really ended up being the two of us going together.) I was living in Arizona at the time, which is not quite as bad as the Deep South but still pretty damn conservative and it made being openly queer scary as hell.

I had realized at the time that I liked wearing skirts. Like, really liked wearing skirts. A lot. Lots of gender euphoria about it. Now like I said, my queerness is messy. I am very much a man. I am also pretty sure I want to get bottom surgery someday. I genuinely don't know if that makes me cis or trans. Hell I'm not sure what the word for that even is. Transsexual maybe?? But at that time, I was still figuring it all out. I didn't know if I was a trans woman or not. I knew I didn't really feel like a woman or want to be a woman or vibe with feminine secondary sex characteristics, but like ... I dunno when you're getting euphoria over wearing skirts and in the deep dark recesses of your mind you think you want a vagina, it's kind of impossible to not ask that question.

And the thing is, I had never been out in public in a skirt before. I'd never even been out in public with makeup before.

But I had that experience with Rocky Horror Picture Show to draw on. I knew that showings of this movie were where you go to be openly, loudly, unapologetically queer.

So I put on a skirt and a see-through shirt and really intense makeup (not in this picture unfortunately) and the biggest smile I felt like I'd ever worn in my life, and I went to The Rocky Horror Picture Show with my friend.

Now for those of you who don't know, there's a tradition at showings where people who haven't attended a showing before get marked with a V for virgin, and called up on stage before the showing to get kind of lightly sexually hazed. It was very explicitly done with consent at the showing I went to, everybody was made to understand they could bow out at any point and that it was all in good fun and in the service of expanding people's boundaries. Stuff like being asked to kiss other people in queer ways, encouraging a blushing baby lesbian to motorboat a hot older woman in leather, getting two guys to do an overwrought romance improv, etc.

And when I got to the door with my friend, there was someone working the door who was some flavor of queerly transfeminine and supremely confident about it. She looked at my friend and immediately asked him if he'd been before and gave him the V. (He came in a tshirt and jeans.) Then she looked at me.

And I'm never going to forget what she said.

She gave me a look up and down, chuckled, and said, "Yeah you've done this before, go on in."

I had not actually done this before, I hadn't gone to a proper showing and so I missed out on the virgin experience, but I could not bring myself to care. Because I was riding the high of her comment for days. I'm still riding it, to be honest.

She hadn't recognized me as any particular gender or flavor of queerness. All I knew was that she had seen a visibly masculine dude with a buzz cut and a skirt and poorly done makeup and said "Oh yeah. You're one of us. ❤️"

Also my straight friend had a great fucking time and we ended up gushing about it for like an hour afterward and I got to pass on a bunch of the stuff I learned from my old trans friend about the history of the queerphobic stereotypes on display and the underlying meaning of aggressively joyous claiming of that from the '70s queer movement.

So yeah. It is a movie which portrays queerness as intrinsically alien to straight society. The creator is a genderqueer man who believes that trans women are women, but an intrinsically different flavor of women, an opinion which has aged very poorly and quite justifiably gotten him scorned by the modern trans community. And some modern queer people, especially trans women who are sensitive to portrayals of transmisogyny, are going to feel uncomfortable with the movie.

And yet.

I've had people in my DMs and anons in my asks yelling at me for saying there are transwomen who like this movie, and that the question of whether it's trans misogynistic is more complicated than whether it portrays transmisogynistic stereotypes. Most of those have involved people screaming at me that they're sure it must have only been trans men and tme (transmisogyny excluded) people attending showings (and you could really feel the sprayed derisive spittle as they typed those terms), that it's impossible for any true trans woman to enjoy showings of the Rocky Horror Picture Show.

And to those people, and to you, all I can hope to do is share these experiences with you and hope you try to understand the different queer experiences of others.

Not just mine.

But the experience of a trans girl who I'm sure was feeling even more alone and isolated as a queer freshman than I was. Who assembled a whole group of queer kids, who sat with her to take the very nightmare stereotypes which haunted her every day and turn them into a weapon of raucous joy and in your face queer solidarity with her.

And the experience of the person at the door of my first showing, queer and transfeminine and supremely confident about it, seeing some baby queer looking like every damn flavor of masculinity rocking up in a skirt and poorly done makeup. Saying "Hey kid. You're one of us," and watching the baby queer's face light up like a million Christmas trees.

You don't have to like the movie. But the people who like it? Are here, are queer, are - yes - even trans women.

Get used to it.

I¨ve seen Queer and I def agree with you on your analysis on Eugene. I feel like Luca and Drew try to make him sound more complicated then he is lol. He is clearly a guy who is struggling with his sexuality and has trouble accepting it. A part of him feels so good being with Lee in some moments that we see, when he just LETS GO and doesn't think and expresses an interest in that part of himself. Going to gay bars, being curious about Lee. But there are moments when he gets in his head and freaks out that he is bi/gay. I think it those moments he becomes disgusted with himself, and takes it out on Lee, being cold and distant. I think even in the intimate moments, he has a hard time letting go, trying to play it off as he's not THAT into it, ''if you insists'' for example. He is clearly in denial so even in the moments when they are intimate, he tries to minimize them and not seem to keen. And hey, I love him as a character. But it's not some big mystery as they tried to make it out to be.

This is an interesting take and I definitely see your point!!

“If you insist” killed me because yes it was definitely a way of guarding that he for sure wanted it, too, but he’s so clearly happy when they’re together so that’s what confuses Lee so much when he ignores him in public/acts annoyed with him, which they acted so well it slayed me (hello bittersweet semi-unrequited love, my old friend). I think the scene(s) that really dig into what you’re saying about his repression/disgust the most was the shift from them in bed and Lee asking him if he enjoys their time together and Eugene says “oh yes, oh yes” and then in the very next scene Lee tries to initiate and Eugene literally pushes him to the ground.

(Side note Eugene’s “I don’t like people who apologize at breakfast” aka “can I please just eat my fucking eggs without your insecurity making me feel guilty” absolutely slayed me, it was one of my favorite lines in the whole movie.)

Personally, I don’t feel like we ever saw disgust from Eugene. maybe fear or doubt, but I think what is complex about him is that we’d expect someone struggling with their sexual identity to be really insecure or lashing out towards the openly queer men around his but he’s so cool and confident and doesn’t flinch when he’s listening to them tell stories of the men they’ve brought home and even asks about the gay bars and things out of genuine curiosity.

ALSO I think the vomit scene in important. To me it was clear he was throwing up because he was nervous (maybe disgusted?) but I saw it more as fear over what he knew was about to happen (what I think we’re supposed to assume his first sexual encounter with a man).

Idk I definitely see what you’re saying but I personally felt he was a very complex character, I think it’s supposed to be an unclear why he ultimately runs away from Lee/his queer identity. Okay obviously any movie adaptation of a book is going to be trimmed down. I get why they didn't spend time on certain things like Nora and Alex's dating history and Ellen's PowerPoint. It makes sense with the way movie beats work to show them getting outed immediately after they reconcile instead of having the extra act of them writing more emails acknowledging their love and fake dating Nora and June to try and take some heat off and Henry coming out to Phillip. Some changes like Henry's surname being different and having a king instead of a queen I know were about not offending the irl royal family and while I'm not exactly a fan of the monarchy I don't really care that much. Pez just being "Percy"? Kinda sad but again, I don't really care. I even understand cutting things like Bea's struggles with addiction, Catherine's depression and detatchment from her children, and Richards being the one who outed them with Raphael Luna as the triple agent - they have value to the story and I wish we could have seen them, but from a filmmaking perspective I can see how they would take up a lot of time to properly include. There were a lot of things I loved about this movie, which I'm adding to the bottom of this post so as not to be a total downer. Overall I think it was a good movie and a relatively faithful adaptation. But also there are some changes I am less a fan of.

So, my biggest issues with the RWRB movie:

Amy being trans is never mentioned? It's literally one line in the book could it not be one line in the movie? (At least they didn't cast a cis actress, so presumably the character is still trans, but we could have said that. She could have at least worn a pin that would not have been hard)

Bea is younger than Henry 🤨 What even was the purpose of this change?

She could have at least said something when Alex came out to her! (Also without June you lose the poly undertones of Nora June and Pez which I at least thought was pretty important)

Just gonna reiterate, because the more I'm thinking about it now the more upset it's making me - They erased Nora's bisexuality and Amy's transgenderism and June doesn't exist? Congrats you've killed all the story's queer women

No inspiring Alex speech to the crowd while they're waiting on Texas - this moment could have been so much more active than standing in the hall waiting and hoping

Alex gives his coming out speech BEFORE they get permission from the crown?? That doesn't even make sense! One, he never talked to Henry about it, and two, the white house would never have risked international relations by letting him do something like that without the king's permission

Getting permission from the crown was way too easy. In the book Catherine literally had to blackmail Queen Mary into letting them come out. You're telling me the king just went, "Are you SURE Henry are you REALLY SURE okay fine"? It way takes down the tension of the climax and also kind of invalidates all of Henry's fear that he's been struggling with the whole movie. It would be way more powerful for him to stand up for himself against a grandparent who was outright against him rather than one who just wasn't really thrilled about it

Why was Henry fully dressed jacket and all after their first time did Alex not reciprocate or what

That being said, things I loved about the RWRB movie:

"And I thought Alexander Gabriel Claremont Diaz was a mouthful" - "He is"

"History, huh?" in the V&A (I'm sad this wasn't in the emails because it means no wider HH movement from the public, but it was really sweet how they did it)

Visibly obvious red-rimmed eyes from both Henry and Alex (though Henry more) throughout most of the third act - just a little detail that I appreciated

Alex's conversation with Henry about being a person in politics who looks like him when his dad didn't have that growing up

Henry full on swimming away so fast when Alex tried to tell him he loved him, no mosquito excuse in sight. This was just really fucking funny I don't know why

Exchanging the necklace for the ring - works really well, great excuse for him not to add the ring to the necklace (for those who don't know, they tried this first but the lump was really obvious and it screwed up the costume so they had to figure out a different way to do it)

Henry continuously playing the piano throughout the movie

She likes instruments and can play quite a few different ones. (I feel like I saw a hc somewhere abt her playing guitar? It stuck with me).

She also plays some sports, but not as much as Hannah.

She was actually quite popular in school (based off her relationship stat with Jess being reasonably high).

Her 'role' in the group very much seems to be sort of like Sam's in that she's often trying to prevent trouble.

Hannah Washington

She likes insects a lot. Especially butterflies.

She can and will pick up spiders in her hands she literally does not fear any kind of bug or creepy crawlies.

She's quite strong bc of all the sports she does. She, Sam and Matt often enough end up in weird little competitions and go on runs/hikes etc.

She was sort of the weird kid in most her classes, but wasn't often made fun of because of the people she was friends with and her siblings.

She's generally always a little caught up in her own daydreams.

She's trans.

She's neurodivergent. Idk what specifically but she is nd to me.

She's bi but it would take her forever to realise that.

As Beth describes her, she's often quite 'naive' and if it weren't for Sam, Beth and Josh she'd likely be the target of many jokes, some more harmless than others.

She's very optimistic, bright and chooses to see the best in people. She's not as social as her siblings and spends most her time with Sam. She likes being alone often, left to her own thoughts and fantasies and ideas.

Josh Washington

He's very into art and drama, especially horror of course.

He hangs out with Ashley and she helps him write scripts, while he draws things from her writing for her.

Despite this he is very jumpy and easily scared.

Because their parents are often super busy he very much took on the whole big-sibling caretaker role.

He's popular despite being really quiet and somewhat anti-social. He's the kind of guy who disappears off of any social media for weeks and is very difficult to get into contact with.

He likes playing pranks and jokes, but only when they're somewhat thought out. Like he isn't just going to jump out from behind a door and yell it's gotta be way more interesting.

He's trans (I don't have a specific hc for him I stick to I just know he's very genderfucky).

He's queer.

He hates Hannah's bugs and complains all the time about them but he'd never actually do anything to hurt them or upset Hannah.

He's quite pessimistic, sort of the opposite of Hannah. He's very paranoid of others and their intentions, and he often isolates himself because of that. This has a lot to do with his mental health though, he doesn't actually like being alone.

Hi. A few thoughts:

So, I might be a lesbian! I say "might" because a part of me is scared I may be wrong. Tbh, that's probably the moral ocd talking. But anyways.

I'm hesitant in writing this because I fear others may not understand my experience. But that's okay, not everyone has to. I've come to this conclusion after a few things:

Friends frequently hitting me with lesbian allegations. Basically, they've already thought I was one.

Not really finding men sexually attractive. I've chalked this up to the fact that I'm also asexual, but I've realized that I haven't really desired a romantic relationship with a man either. All of my male crushes are fictional and have been for literal years now.

My last "crush" on a real person was nearly 4 years ago. It was on my best guy friend, but my feelings weren't real. They were forced! I was forcing myself to feel romantically towards him because I didn't, like, hate being around him. I figured hey, if I'm gonna marry any guy, it would be him. But, uh, why does the thought of kissing him make my stomach hurt?

When thinking about future relationships, I've cringed at the thought of having them with men. Even while id-ing as bi, I felt disappointed and sometimes upset at the thought of being with a man.

I'm religious and in a religious community where "ex-gay" narratives abound. I'm terrified I'll become someone who ids as gay, but then God will say "Nuh-Uh" and I'll start yapping about "oh, well you can have those attractions but you can't act on them" and end up in a mixed orientation marriage to some guy and be forced to have hetero sex and bear children I don't want. I'd literally rather hang and quarter myself.

Also, since I'm asexual as well, I'm worried others won't accept or understand me. But y'know wha? Those aren't people I wanna be around anyways.

That all being said, is this identity permanent? Who knows! Nothing is set in stone! Maybe it'll change, maybe it won't. What's important is that I'm respecting everyone else. Nothing but all love to everyone, actually.

Jeff The Killer: Aromantic Pansexual.

Okay so Jeff doesn’t feel romantic attraction whatsoever but he feels sexual attraction towards literally anyone no matter the gender. He believe as long as his victims/sexual conquests have a hole he could give two shits what comes along with it. But to say he’s a stranger to being homophobic as a way to demean and hurt his victims would be a lie. Jeff displays homophobic behavior, but it doesn’t come from a place of feeling as if it’s wrong - it’s actually just a way to emotionally abuse another person. He doesn’t care about hypocrisy, literally anything to make someone feel horrible about themselves works for him.

Homicidal Liu: Aromantic Bisexual

Homicidal Liu, just like his brother, feels no romantic feelings toward anybody at all. He might act the part and have multiple partners but he feels NO attachment to them whatsoever and actually kills most of them off once he's done with them. BUT sexually he swings both ways (secretly). Liu is a very closeted bisexual, and while he doesn't really care internally when it comes to his sexuality - he cares very much about his reputation, and he believes he would literally shrivel up and die if anyone useful to him knew he swung both ways. He'd find it to be the most shameful thing in the world because he was surrounded by outwardly homophobic straight men his whole life, he literally based his personality around it. It would just be very scandalous in his circle.

Masky/Tim Wright: Slightly Bi-curious Heterosexual/romantic

Okay, so Tim himself is a bi-curious guy leaning towards being hetero. He himself has no problem with the thought of being with a guy, but it’s very rare he experiences the feelings of being attracted to another man. While Masky, is totally against the idea. This is purely due to his toxic masculinity and not wanting to look effeminate. Any feelings he would have for a man is shoved down and ignored. he’s the type of guy to make a complete scene over someone being gay, acting like it’s the most disgusting thing you could be in order to not look gay.

Ticci Toby: Straight lol

Toby is a heterosexual/romantic guy but he always has to make it CLEAR he is STRAIGHT, loves PUSSY and TITS and is not GAY. He has a lot of genuine homophobia, and of course this comes from the same place Masky’s homophobia comes from.

Hoodie: Bisexual/romantic

Hoodie and Brian are both bisexual, while leaning more towards attraction to women they wouldn't mind being with a man at all. But I'd say that they just really like a feminine person no matter their gender, pronouns etc. And although Hoodie doesn't have a homophobic bone in his body he's gotta keep it hush hush around his extremely homophobic coworkers that he would be interested in men at all. (Plus he's like "it's no one's fucking business" lol)

Eyeless Jack: Panromantic Demisexual

So Eyeless Jack is not a very sexual person really at all, ever since he became a demon he doesn't really feel the need or want to have sex - and it would probably be very uncomfortable for him in a casual sense because of his own relationship with himself and being half demon and alone for so long. He would have a lot of self esteem issues as well due to fear OF himself, which would make sex a lot more complicated and emotionally difficult for him. But I could definitely see if he was in a very patient, accepting and open environment he'd be able to feel those feelings again. But from a romantic perspective he doesn't care the gender, you could be a man, non-binary, lady, he would not care. To him everyone is human and special, and he's so removed from the concept of human gender that it doesn't phase him, he'll take any kind of attention or affection from anyone.

Jane the Killer: Homosexual/romantic

You already know Jane is a LESBIAN, this isn't even a headcanon it's just canon lol.

Clockwork: Bisexual/romantic

I would say Clockwork is a bisexual person who heavily leans into an attraction for women. Although she'll find guys attractive and have flings with some, I do believe as a whole she feels much more emotionally comfortable around girls. Regardless of her take on girls back in high school, (*Cough cough* pick me.) - she feels generally safer with women, and just really enjoys femininity. And it's really nice to have someone feminine with her as a partner, it almost gives her the comfortability to be feminine herself when for her whole life she always had to be on guard and as strong as the men around her to gain respect. She just really likes women and having girlfriends, and her misogyny in high school really came from a place of not being accepted much in that community in adolescence and jealousy of not being able to explore that part of herself in a safer environment. Plus she just uh, really like boobs lmao

So first of all let's just make it clear for the record. Tumblr loves her because 13 is a) played by Olivia Wilde so she's super pretty and b) a Canon Gay (bisexual). For a show like Hatecrimes MD, she's actually pretty fairly portrayed -- it's fetishized a little and joked about a lot, but she's shown in relationships with men and women, there's no bi erasure involved, when she does play into the All Bis Are Slutty trope, it's because she's having an elaborate mental breakdown and sleeping around to cope. Hilariously she's like the third person on the show to do this, so it doesn't even come off as "those slutty gays!"

(I mean. Arguably they're all slutty gays. But you know.)

AS FOR WHAT HER DEAL IS.

In s3 House fires/loses the original team of Foreman, Cameron, and Chase, and eventually (after as much stalling as he can get away with) hires a new team:

KUTNER, Kal Penn playing an enthusiastic nerd here to have fun,

and 13, real name Remy Hadley.

To fuck with Cuddy, House originally hires 40-odd doctors -- anyone who sent him a resume -- and then began whittling them down one by one. To keep track, he'd given them all marathon placards. 13's number was, you guessed it, 13. Her whole gimmick was that she was "mysterious" -- House found her hard to read and she was good at not giving him any hints, and she played into it by refusing to talk about herself and continuing to go by "Thirteen" even once everyone else was introduced. Her name was later revealed, after she made the final team, but House keeps calling her 13, and he often jokes that people who call her Hadley don't know who she is. It sticks around as a nickname at work. Her personal friends/girlfriend/boyfriend tend to call her Remy, but her coworkers stick to the nickname.

It's kind of interesting to note that reception for her was actually kind of negative when the show started. She gets a LOT of character focus, far more than Kutner and Taub, and this was soon enough after losing the first team (Chase and Cameron in particular barely existed on the show for a while, Chase only becoming a major character again two and a half years later) that folks resented her "stealing the spotlight" or having main character syndrome. In retrospect, I don't think it's that bad, although it is definitely true she's favored over other characters.

Anyway.

Part of 13's secretiveness is because of the House Obligatory Tragic Backstory. 13's mother had Huntington's, a genetic disease that is fatal and super degenerative. So did her older brother. 13 knew she had a high chance of having it as well, but refused to get tested out of fear. She eventually does -- and oops, she has it as well. This means she's got about 10 years left to live, and fewer without symptoms. This causes her Existential Sex Bender and a general pattern of risk taking: it's a hard thing to cope with.

Meanwhile, she's on House's team. She's really good: creative and unflappable, if maybe not as devoted to diagnostics and the team as a "lifer" like Foreman or Chase are. She and House also grow close; refreshingly (COUGH Cameron) it's never treated as a shipping thing. He just... sees her becoming self destructive and cares enough to stop her; he cares about her.

13 is still notoriously secretive, and she literally vanishes in s7. Tells everyone she's going on vacation and cuts her phone lines. It turns out she goes to prison for over-prescribing meds... to her brother. She euthanized him, as he was suffering badly from Huntington's. Made it look like an accident, that he did it. This sort of destroys her: she feels like it was the right thing to do, it's what he wanted, but she still killed him. 13 tells House, and House offers to do the same to her when her Huntington's gets bad enough.

She doesn't stick around the team for long after getting out of prison. She meets a woman named Amy, and they fall in love; she and Amy go off to some Greek island to try and enjoy the 8-ish years 13 has left. (In episodic terms: she's on the team for s4+5 and most of 6; vanishes for almost all of s7 because she's in jail, and has only guest roles in s8.)

She briefly dates Foreman and it was just really weird. No chemistry. No idea what they saw in one another. The show is so bad at romance.

Most compellingly to me specifically, she and my boy Chase end up being really good friends. They had some Ship Tease for a while, the show might have been trying to set them up, but Olivia Wilde's career was taking off and she stopped being a regular on the show. This was, as far as Chase/13 is concerned, a good thing. Because the show is bad at romance. So instead they just become good friends. Chase also murdered a dude one time, and 13 ends up telling him about her brother. In the same episode, she calls him late at night for help and he just... shows up, no questions asked. They have a lot of shared issues: sick/dead mothers and complicated feelings about them, murder, Existential Sex Benders when they're depressed, and a dislike about talking about personal issues. They also are uniquely close to and good at reading House, and the show even goes so far as to refer to them as the "prodigal daughter/son" in relation to him. So fandom has sort of latched onto the idea of them as "like brother and sister," "best friends," which isn't super supported in canon (they ARE good friends, but no more), but... the venn diagram of these two is a circle.

Crucially, both 13 and Chase, despite putting on good fronts, are very lonely people. So is House. So it's nice to think they can have their own sad little found family, especially once House "dies" and might not bother letting his prettiest employees know.

OPINION ON LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT: again, not something he would ever have accepted for himself, not with who he is. honestly probably at least a little bit skeptic of it, but also will literally always eat up a cheesy rom-com. the concept of it is something he'd like to think exists-- it's a beautiful thought! and he's sure it's probably happened, but that doesn't mean he's entirely naive, either.

HOW ‘ROMANTIC’ ARE THEY?: decently! it's not something he necessarily has a lot of practice in but he likes to spoil wolfwood when he can, regardless of what form that takes. for someone like him there's a lot of 'romance' to be found in doing silly little domestic things together; neither of them are really huge 'grand gesture' types
