Okay, we all know about the usual warlock-patron dynamics. Creature with god-like powers tries to do their bidding or further their plans through a mortal, who is often going to be troubled by the pact. But, I'm here to propose some alternatives, specially for warlock deals that aren't inherently very harmful to the warlock themself:
This one is pretty typical, but the patron is a family member. If sorcerers can get cool powers from having a dragon grandpa, your fire genasi can have an auntie who is a big fire elemental who is trying VERY hard to connect with her family now, so she gives her nephew an allowance in the form of a Genie Pact
Your patron is undead (and your pact is Undying), but this person is not some power-hungry lich. This is someone you knew in life: A friend, or perhaps a partner. You had fought for a common cause, and they met their death trying to see the end of it, but they refused to leave you alone. Now, within you, their stubbornness has kept them from moving on, and they lend their newfound powers to help you in your common cause.
It's an eldritch entity, a creature beyond your comprehension. Your pact is that of a Great Old One. However, this creature doesn't quite have very concise plans to bring the end of the world- You're actually pretty sure it isn't even from your world. As time goes on, and as you realize their whims seem erratic, you realize that this thing you get powers from is... Probably the cosmic equivalent of a child. Maybe it's still cocooning in the depths of a distant dying planet. And it's incredibly bored. Someday, maybe, they'll terrorize the universe, but right now, they just really want you to be their eyes on another world. Call it enrichment.
Okay, this one is a fiend. Unequivocally so. But truthfully, they couldn't care less about your world, and you're not particularly concerned about what is going down in theirs. They kinda need few things done in your plane, few resources gathered, some people talked to, and between the lines, you realize that your newfound... ally is actually trying to oppose their boss or whatever. This one is a deeply legal-minded fiend, as far as you know: The hellish equivalent to a bureaucrat, after really digging around. Your party is convinced they will turn on you sometime, but eventually you realize you're just helping something that, for a lack of a better word, has to be an infernal-equivalent of an union effort.
That sword you picked was definitely cursed, and the voice within it has been calling to you. Eventually, you lend them your ear, and now you have an Hexblade pact. But this creature isn't bloodthirsty, nor talking to you about soaking their blade with your foes' guts. Truthfully, they hate being a sword. Trapped there as part of a vengeance, perhaps, this thing longs for freedom. And it has been used for evil in the past- Maybe the overabundance of skull motifs in their physical vessel didn't help. But this creature just wants to be able to experience a life that has been robbed from them. Your party may raise an eyebrow at you getting friendly with the possibly-malignant sword, but y'all are just making plans to get them to your favourite restaurant once they're freed.
This Archfey is the descendant of a powerful entity in Feywild side of things. The heir of some great lineage, or whatever is going on within their realm. You frankly don't know, because they're a bit of a... brat. One that kinda longs to escape their situation and get to live something more normal. You only find out this over time, when you realize you're kinda that friend their parents frown about. This entity, powerful beyond comprehension, just really wants to hang out with you and have a board game night with you. They'd love to meet your besties-- I mean, your world-saving allies. And you'd love to give them the opportunity someday, truth be told, but pissing off a fey court seems to be a high price.
You got stranded far into the ocean as a kid, and the rest of the people involved in the shipwreck did not make it out. But you attracted the attention of a group of merfolk, who had barely ever had the chance to meet someone like you. People had told you tales of how they'd drown and eat anyone coming into their territory, but these creatures were instead cooing about you. You're now grown up, and you can call them for power. Your party frowns at the idea of "I kinda got adopted by a sea polycule and I got a cantrip and few other boons about it", but you know they'll have to eat their words when you bring them for dinner- If you can find a way to table them in the middle of the ocean, that is.
the celestial patron is still a dick tho
Feel free to add onto these if you'd like, I'd love to hear concepts >:3

APOLOGIES
— puppy hybrid! RE2! leon s. kennedy x f! reader
《MINORS DNI!》
Tags: desperate Leon, teasing, riding, mating press, doggy style, drooling, edging, overstimulation, whimpering, heat cycle, knotting, breeding, dacryphila, safe word mentioned but he's not listening, dubcon, Leon's usually a good boy but not in this one :(
A/N: I like how most RE2 Leon x reader is just like having reader riding him or making him cry and I'm all for that like yes! You go honey ^0^)/ !!
Leon once told you about wanting to try new things, saying how he wanted you to take control. Well, you are technically his owner, so it's not a problem for you, but Leon wants to test his own limits, wanting to postpone his heat as long as possible...
Well, it only takes him a week in his heat to get him to beg you. He should've gotten his heat dealt with last week, but he insisted and now he's deeply regretting it, tugging your pants and grinding his wet, naked cock against your shoe once you stepped through the front door.
“P-Please, please—” He whines, almost out of breath. He doesn't even greet you with the usual "Welcome home!" anymore.
You blink, looking at his teary eyes and floppy ears, he's begging by rubbing against your shoe. You gently ruffle his hair, trying to pry him off only to have him holding onto you tighter.
“I'll get to it, Leon. I just need to shower first—”
“Wanna shower with yoh too. I can help!” Leon cries, and you practically have to drag him inside using a free leg.
“Leon, let go. Come on, I promise to help you. Just let go, okay?”
“Promise?”
“Yeah, I literally just said that.”
Reluctantly, Leon lets go, his tail already tapping against the floor impatiently as he sulks. You tell him to go to the bedroom first, and you make your way to the bathroom.
During the shower, you can hear Leon tapping against your door and whining with that high pitch, you can imagine him looking at the door with his usual big, wide puppy eyes.
You step out, wearing only an oversized shirt that's meant to be Leon's. He tilts his head up, trailing behind you and he can smell your arousal underneath, and the sight of you in his shirt just makes him more excited. You're wearing something that belongs to him, and something about that sets fire inside his stomach. He takes his bare body closer to you, letting you feel his skin burning hot with lust.
You smile, guiding him up to the bed and kissing his cheek.
“Shh, it's okay, puppy.” You say, rubbing his back and kissing down his neck. Leon's already melting under your touch, hips twitching against your thigh, hands aggressively rubbing the skin under the hem of the shirt you're wearing.
He sniffs your neck, taking in your bodywash. The smell has become a resemblance of you. He enjoys it cause it reminds him of you.
“Quickly, please...”
“Mhm, safe word?”
“Blueberry.” He utters, mind reeling with lust. He's getting impatient, but he's on the level of holding back. He's not lost yet.
You trail your fingers down his bare back, creating goosebumps on his skin. He whines, rutting against your thigh even harder.
You let him lay on the bed, then kneeling between his head and stroking his aching cock. Leon gasps and twitches, hips driving up against your palm. You only kiss the tip before letting go, making him groan and beg for you to get to it. You're toying with him and he knows that, still, he tries to be good for you, letting you see him break piece by piece.
His back arches when you climb up to his lap, grinding your wet cunt against his twitching cock. He lets out a loud “Fuuuuuuck!” before snapping his hips up, wanting your cunt. His brows furrow in discontent, clearly you're being extremely wet, you want this too. So, then why don't you give him what he wants?
You smile wider, watching drool trickles down his chin and you lick it up, kissing his lips sweetly. He grabs your hips and closes his eyes, whimpering against your lips, now stained with his saliva. It's soft at first, but then you two get more feral, nearly knocking him down further against the mattress. Tongues tangled, and lips smash together, making loud smacking noises. Drool dripping down both of your chins as you make out intensely, your bodies press together tightly. Your lips are swollen from the constant kisses, but you couldn't get enough of each other.
You let go and spit in his mouth, in which he gladly accepts and gulps down, looking at you with wide, pleading eyes.
“I'll put it in, okay?” You say, and he instantly brightens up and nods furiously. His face contorts when you sink on his cock, drawing a loud, long moan from his throat.
He whimpers, rutting up to you but you grip his jaw tightly as a warning, riding him at your own pace. He shrinks under your piercing look, and complies, eagerly waiting for you to go harder.
You sigh, eyes closing and laying your head on his shoulder. You bounce on his cock and tightens your arms around him, your ass slapping down in a hypnotic motion.
“Oh god! I'm gonna cum! I'm gonna cum! Pleasepleaseplease I'm cumming—” Leon whines as you ride him faster.
Leon is going to fucking lose it.
When you edge him by pulling out right before his climax, Leon's whimpers eventually turning into growls. He pants, pinning you down on the bed instead, having you on your hands and knees. And for the first time, you see a different side of him, he's always looked so cute and submissive. He still does, but he's using his strength to get what he wants.
“Leon, what are you—Ohhh!” You jolt when he slams his cock all the way inside your dripping cunt. Feeling him handling you like this somehow turns you on even more, resulting in your cunt squeezing him tighter.
Leon whimpers, holding your hips as he mounts you, rabbiting his cock into your womb, eyes rolling up at how good you feel. You're the perfect partner for him, always so wet and tight when he fucks you.
“Leon! B-Bad dog! Down!” You try to take back control, but he doesn't seem to listen. Your pussy draws him in, blinding him of your words.
You grimace, feeling his drool dripping down your hair as he howl, his grip on you getting tighter that would definitely leave a bruise. He bites his lip, head tilts up to the ceiling as he cums inside you without warning.
You groan, going cross-eyed when you cum as well, milking his cock. Leon grinds his hips, panting loudly in your ear.
“S-Sorry, we're not...not done...” He whines, and looking back you can see how guilty he was. He's crying and biting his lip, ears dropping as he mumbles apologies against your ear when he moves again.
You babbles out the safe word, but all fell on deaf ears, he's so focused on the feeling of your pussy grabbing his throbbing need, he forgets what it is.
“Sorry, sorry...shit— I'm sorry!” Leon's voice turns louder, pounding into your overstimulated cunt. He turns you around, bending your legs on each side of your head. He kisses your face, hushed little apologies slip out from his lips as his lower body drives into you like it has a mind on its own.
“I swear, I'm a good boy. I'm a good boy!” He sobs, tears mixing with your own, some drips between your lips. “'M sorry. I promise to-to be good! Please, please—please just—fuck! Please let me have this.”
The bed creaks and bumps against the wall violently, you can hear the nightstand beside you shake slightly from the impact. He's losing his mind, biting down your neck, enough to draw blood and he pinches your clit, tugging on them.
You tugs on the sheets tightly, moaning from the pleasure that the pain gives you. Your chest heaves, and Leon goes more feral at the reminder that you're wearing his shirt.
“D-Do you like this? Mngh! Y-You do, yeah? Are you mad? I'm sorry, I'm sorry... I'm sorry, puppy's a bad boy...” He nudges your nose, licking your tears and snot. You would've thought that was gross, but you can't really think when you have this cock shooting up your brain, melting it into a puddle filled with cum.
“T-Too much—” You try to push him off, but he's much stronger than you, hugging you tighter and hides his embarrassed face against your shoulder.
He cries into your shoulder, babbling "sorry" to you, but it's getting incoherent when he's getting more drunk on the sensation of your pussy. His tail wags so quickly as he basically drills into your cunt.
Leon's legs twitch, basically jumping on the bed to chase that sensation. You reply with a high moan at each thrust, legs spreading wider when he keeps jumping into your cunt, causing the bed to shift to the side too.
He growls, attacking your neck with more deep hickies, squeezing your tits under the shirt and pulls on it.
“W-Wanna breed you.” He sobs, forcing his knot into your cunt, and you yelp. “Have your womb filled with my pups. Do you like that?” He tries to soothe you into listening, to convince you that he's still a good boy who just loves you too much, and well, he is a good boy who just loves you too much. He knows you're gonna punish him later though, so best just make the most of this.
Leon rambles on about breeding you, his words slurred and his breathing getting more breathless. He's close, he's right there. He's gonna knot you.
You feel it invades your pussy and Leon groans loudly, shaking on your body when he shoots his cum inside you. You gasp, shamelessly scream as you squeeze and squirt. Your clit is twitching and your whole body is trembling at the aftermath.
Leon doesn't pull away instantly, he stays there, catching his breath. You were about to push him off again before he kisses your neck and gives you the teary puppy eyes.
“Promise, just one more...”
Leon cries as you tie the leash against the hook on the wall, muffled cries let out through the muzzle.
“Sorry, Leon. You did this to yourself.” You say, remaining a stern voice. “I said the safeword, and you didn't listen, so you ought to be punished.”
He whines louder, tail padding the floor audibly.
“Trust me, this is the lightest treatment I can give you. You don't want me to be worse, hm?”
His whining quiets down and his ears drop, he looks away and nods, solemnly lies on the small bed you've put near there.
“Be good, okay?” You kiss his forehead, then leave the house, with Leon's gaze lingering on you until the front door clicks shut.

okay so, i hope this isnt a bother but i wanted to get to the root of this so: I contacted Haihe's customer support.
first image: the wechat contacts of said customer support which i got by scanning the company's website so it's not like i got some third hand information off a shady website.
second image: my chat with the customer support, which might i note is so patient with such a non-purchase, non-product issue question?
customer support: hi, how can i help you?
me: im looking for the packaging designs that Haihe had used from past till present. specifically ones used in the 90s and shaped like a pyramid.
customer support: im sorry. i don't have [the information.] we're unable to provide it to you.
me: alright, thank you. sorry for the trouble.
customer support: you're welcome.
me (couldn't bear just giving up and going home): then, may i know when your company had changed their packaging?
customer support: I'm not sure about that.
me: can i at least confirm that there was a past design shaped like a triangle? like the photos attached below?
customer support: [i] have never seen triangle [packaging].
customer support: it's bull horn packaging.
me: could you show me a picture of that so i can be sure how it looks like?
customer support: you can look it up online
me (ive lost braincells and wasnt thinking at the time just googled it and...): the search results are all croissants...
customer support: the official website.
(it took me Too Many minutes to figure out that they meant their company's official website and not like Baidu or sth and lo and behold theres image 3 right on their front page... half blocked by the fact that im on my phone and it loaded weird. so i used a picture i downloaded earlier)
me: is this the bull horn packaging?
customer support: mhm mhm
me: alright, thank you so so much! else i wouldn't be able to sleep with this on my mind.
THUS, here this sidequest ends for me. Of course, there's still the possibility that the customer support has no idea what they're talking about or that the pyramid packaging was a limited run in a specific area and that specific timeframe is niche lore even for employees etc etc. So... perhaps unless someone from Tianjin had childhood photoes of them drinking from a pyramid Haihe milk packet, the case shall remain... unsolved?
(also, i just wanted to say that when i first saw the taobao listing, i immediately thought "oh yeah, thats a triangle for sure, it's wide on the bottom and narrow on top." despite having already seen the korean milk photo, which in hindsight, what *was* my brain on...)
but anyways, thank you for the fun sidequest! now i know what ill be doing if i ever hang by Tianjin: try all 9 flavours of those milk + whatever other crazy new flavours they came up with.

Do I wanna know? (Part 3)
Agatha and you have a talk about the future
Word count: 4k
Warnings: 69, oral, smut, angst (hopefully not as much), why would you ever talk about feelings/problems when you could just fuck instead
“What? What part?” you ask, your voice sounding unfamiliar to your own ears. “If it’s the City, it’s fine, that’s not far away, you could even stay here.”
Agatha purses her lips. “It’s in Albany.”
Your stomach drops. Two hours away by car on a good day, about four by train. Agatha has a pitiful look on her face and you want to scoff.
Of course she’s feeling sorry for you.
“Honey,” she starts, cool and calm as ever and it makes you fucking enraged. She reaches out to touch you again — why does she keep trying to do that? why doesn’t she realize that she isn’t going to fix anything? — but you shove her aside and scramble off the couch, beginning to pace with your head in your hands.
Is this better than the affair? She still lied to you. She still didn’t tell you about it, she’s still looking to get out. “Why didn’t you say anything?” you demand, pausing to look at her.
Her jaw tightens. “I didn’t — I didn’t want to before it got real. I wasn’t even sure I was going to go, but my friend reached out and it’s a really good opportunity. The company took me out to dinner last night as an informal interview and I ended up staying the night. I didn’t think you’d come here, I thought you were mad at me or something. Baby, I was really worried about you.”
In any other situation, you’d feel touched by her concern, but it really just pisses you off even more. This isn’t about you. “I thought you were having an affair,” you say again and her face falls.
“I would never—”
You don’t even want to hear it. “Look, don’t change the subject, okay? The point is, you did this huge thing without even telling me and now — what? You’re moving to New York?”
Now she seems unable to meet your eyes, an uncharacteristic shyness radiating off her. “I haven’t even gotten the job yet.”
Your mind starts to whirl with the possibilities. “If you get it, are you going to take it?”
There’s a thick silence that hangs over you two for a moment and you can see the vein in her forehead pulse as she thinks about it. But her hesitation is all the answer you need.
“Okay,” you breathe. You don’t even know where your head is at — you’re so fucking mad, but you’re also so relieved that she isn’t cheating, but then now there’s this wrench that could possibly mean the end of things. You’re not going to let that happen. Dropping to your knees in front of her and finally touching her of your own accord with your palms flat on her legs, you earnestly look at her. “We can…we can figure it out, we will figure it out. I can come down on the weekends or you can come here or — I can transfer! I’ll transfer to somewhere in New York and we can get an apartment, just the two of us, and obviously I won’t be much help with the rent because it’s expensive as shit there—”
Agatha pulls you up by your cheeks and kisses you, effectively shutting you up. You lose yourself in the feeling of her lips against yours and you moan softly, everything slipping away for just a moment. In these five seconds, it’s just the two of you and nothing else can come between you.
But then she breaks away and sighs heavily, resting her forehead against yours. “You just started school here,” she says gently. “I can’t make you give that up. Don’t you like it?”
You shrug lazily. “It’s the first week. I’m not too attached. I’m sure somewhere there will be just as good.”
“What about your parents? What would you tell them?”
Why does it feel like she doesn’t want you there? You can’t help the frown tugging on your lips. “I’ll just say that I don’t like it at Westview. I’m sure I can come up with something. They’ll just want me to be happy.” Agatha makes you happy, but there’s a flicker of doubt growing in your stomach.
She cups your cheek and leans back so you’re able to see her eyes. They’re blue as the ocean, full of emotion, and glassy. “Why don’t you give it a few months, hm? I don’t want you to throw away your school and your family just for me. If you really don’t like it, then we can talk.”
“What if I just drop out of school and become your trophy wife? I’ll be such a good one, I’d wear nothing but an apron all day and make your favorite foods and then I can sit on your strap while you eat dinner.” You play it off like a joke, but deep down, you would be more than willing. You hope she says yes.
Agatha huffs out a laugh and sniffs, tracing a finger down the skin of your face like she’s trying to memorize it. “Wear a short little maid outfit that just happens to ride up and show off your bare cunt when you’re on your knees cleaning the floor?”
You hum and close your eyes in pure bliss at the thought. “See, now you get it. It would be so perfect, right?
“So perfect,” she agrees, but her smile lingers until it’s wistful. There’s a longing pang inside you, one that threatens to tear you open, but you push it down. “I know I haven’t gotten it yet, but I won’t take it,” she says quietly after a moment and your brows furrow in confusion. “If you don’t want me to take it, I won’t.”
Every single morsel of your body is screaming for you to ask her to stay. It would be so easy, and then you could just pretend that none of this — the suspicion, the lies, the sneaking around — never happened. Everything could go back to the way it was before.
But the slightest fear that she would start to resent you for it creeps into the back of your mind. Sure, she might not mind at first, but over time when her job here gets old and she’s unhappy, she’s going to blame you. She’s going to start to hate you for holding her back, and what if you’re not worth it?
The last thought hits you like a punch to the gut. Are you enough to keep her content if she stays? Are you enough to keep her happy?
You’re paralyzed and she’s looking at you expectantly, like it’s an easy fucking decision. You want to complain that it’s not fair for her to put this on you, that she should want to be with you so badly that she willingly gives up the new position for you, but maybe she’s having the same doubts.
The only thing you know is that you don’t want to end up like your parents, with a loveless marriage and a cold, empty house despite the family living in it and the bitter silence of words left unsaid haunting every moment. You don’t want this to become an open wound that festers until Agatha hates you for it.
“If it’s a better job and if you want it, you should take it,” you say, almost surprised by how eerily calm your voice sounds.
Agatha looks taken aback for just the slightest moment but nods. “You’re sure?”
No! Stay with me! I fucking love you!
“Yeah,” you rasp and she bends down to kiss you again, so sweetly that it hurts. She murmurs something against your lips but you don’t even think to ask what she says because you can’t stop the nausea climbing up your throat.
You jump back and run to the bathroom before vomiting in the toilet. You sink to the floor, shaking and sweating and trembling, and you’re vaguely aware of Agatha’s hands in your hair, holding it back, and telling you that everything is going to be alright. Is it?
She gets a wet washcloth and holds it against your head while you don’t move from your position, waiting to see if you have to puke again.
“Had too much to drink last night,” you mutter, feeling like you’re drunk all over again, when she asks if you’re feeling okay. “Thought you were cheating.”
You hear a heavy sigh behind you and tears prick your eyes. Is she disappointed? Does she think you’re being just a stupid kid? “I wouldn’t, honey. I wouldn’t do that. I promise. I—” She stops and strokes your hair instead.
It feels like there’s something she’s not saying, but maybe you’re just reading into it.
And then there’s your I love you while she was fucking you, still fresh in your mind. Do you say it again? Do you ask if she heard it? Or just wait until she says it first?
If she does. You can’t get these stupid insecurities and doubts out of your mind and it’s killing you.
“Do you feel like you’re going to throw up again?” she asks gently and you shake your head. “Come on, why don’t we get you into the shower and then into bed?”
You want to protest just to be petulant, but you’re just so fucking tired. “Okay, mommy,” you say and she sharply inhales, but pretends to be unaffected. Good to know that you can still get to her after you look like you’ve just been through hell.
She turns the water on and you numbly wait until she guides you up and helps you undress before you step into the shower. You almost buckle to the ground but Agatha holds you up, the sleeves of her blazer getting soaked, but she doesn’t even notice it.
It’s an awkward position, her on the outside of the tub and you barely standing up inside it, but she rubs your skin and you slowly feel warmth returning to your body.
You’re about to ask if she’ll get in with you — you see the way she can’t stop looking at your tits and you’re suddenly longing to feel her on you, a reminder that she is yours — when a phone rings.
Definitely not yours; your phone is always on silent.
Agatha curses and tells you she’ll be right back before disappearing from the bathroom. The cold feeling starts to grow back in your stomach, creeping up to your throat and gripping tightly.
“Yes — this is she!” you hear her say from the other room, her voice getting louder as she comes back into the bathroom. You look at her with wide eyes and she gives you a tight smile. “Oh, I did? Well, thank you very much, that is wonderful news.”
The person on the other line starts talking and you can only catch quick muffles of it, but from Agatha’s face, you already know.
“Of course, yes, hang on just one second,” she says and presses her phone against her shoulder to give you her full attention. Eye contact with her feels like a stab to the gut. “Honey, are you sure you’re okay with this? You can say no.”
Can you?
It’s on the tip of your tongue — it would be so easy to ask her to turn it down, so easy to ask her to choose you. She’s waiting for an answer but each drop of water on your skin feels like a chant: no. no. no. You know Agatha’s trying to remain neutral, but you can tell she wants the job, by the way she’s twitching her fingers and the barely concealed pleading look on her face and the way she’s holding her phone so tightly it’s making her veins pop out all bluish and purplish.
It’s clear that you cannot say no.
You’re not sure she would ever forgive you, and you’re not sure you would ever forgive yourself. You can’t ask her to throw away this opportunity, not for you.
“Yeah, I’m sure,” you say hoarsely, feeling a lot like you just signed a death warrant.
But plenty of people do long distance, and two hours really isn’t that bad. Plus it just means that with all the waiting, the sex will be even hotter. Her moving away doesn’t mean anything.
And you can transfer at the end of the semester, so really you just have to make it a few months.
Agatha’s beam is one of pure gratitude and you know you made the right choice, but she’s back to talking on the phone and your little moment is interrupted. “Oh…two weeks? Of course, I can totally do that.”
A flash of panic bolts through you and you mouth two weeks? at her. She purses her lips and shrugs apologetically, like that’s supposed to make you feel better.
The rest of her phone call is blurred out by your sudden inability to hear anything but the rush of the water that has suddenly become so loud it’s taken over all your thoughts and you don’t even realize that she’s hung up and cleaned you off and gotten you out of the shower until you’re shivering and naked and Agatha’s wrapping a towel around you.
“Hey, it’s okay, you’re okay,” she murmurs because you’re now uncontrollably shaking and you think you might be crying a little. “Everything’s going to be okay.” She presses kisses to your forehead and cheeks and nose, muttering the same sort of sentients, while the towel around you slips to the floor when you throw your arms around her and cling to her like she’s your lifeline, like she’s everything you’ll ever need, and she holds you back so tightly you think you might fuse into one being.
The two of you stand there like that until your skin gets clammy and pruney and your eyes are raw. When you finally pull back, your muscles ache and the front of Agatha’s clothes are absolutely soaked, so you tug on them until she gets the message and begins to strip.
Her blazer comes off, and then she untucks her blouse from her pants and slowly begins to unbutton it, each time revealing more of her perfect pale skin. You can see the faint outlines of her ribs and then her stomach, the red bites from two days ago still there, albeit faded.
There’s no mistaking the “M” though. A hot thrill runs through you despite the solemn air between you and a fire starts to flicker to life in your stomach. You reach out to trace your mark as if in a trance and Agatha’s breath hitches.
Swallowing roughly, your eyes dart up to meet her already-dark ones. “We should talk about the job, right? Figure out what it means for us?” you ask, but even as the words leave your mouth, you can feel the atmosphere shift into something else.
“Right,” Agatha nods, but she can’t stop looking down at your pebbled nipples — from the cold or from her?
When she surges forward, clasps your cheeks, and pulls your mouth to hers, you know that it’s both. The kiss is messy, teeth knocking against each other and her tongue invading your mouth and breathing each other’s air, and you wrap your arms around her neck to bring her even closer. She didn’t get to take her pants off yet, but it feels absolutely delicious when she slides a thigh between yours and you grind down onto it. Your nipples brush against the fabric of her bra and you can’t help but moan into her open mouth.
Fire roars beneath your skin, spreading to all over your body, and you suddenly just need more. You need her to overwhelm all your senses until you can’t fucking think about anything else, not the job, not her moving, not the fact that you could’ve stopped this but didn’t — you just want her.
She grabs onto your hip to guide you against her leg and you whine as she sucks on your tongue. Her other hand comes up to cup your right breast and roll your nipple and you mewl and jerk against her. She tugs and it feels directly connected to your cunt because you pulse and it only gets worse when she flexes her thigh underneath you.
“Bed — bedroom, please,” you choke out and her mouth doesn’t leave yours, walking you backwards into the bedroom and not stopping until the backs of your knees hit the bed.
Agatha pushes you down onto it, the duvet beneath you instantly getting wet from your dripping pussy, and she shimmies off her pants and underwear and sinks to her knees in front of you. It’s a sight to behold, her looking up at you from the floor like she wants to devour you, like she would hang the stars and the sun in the sky for you and it still wouldn’t be enough. The power running through you from the heat in her eyes and the ragged heaving of her red chest and the way she tosses her hair over her shoulder is enough to drive you mad.
“You’re so perfect,” she breathes and it only makes you wetter. You buck your hips against the bed, trying to get some stimulation to your now-aching clit, but it’s not even close to enough.
But it’s not even five seconds later when she leans in, inhales the scent of you deeply, and then drags her flattened tongue through your folds, making you keen and arch your back. She is so good with her mouth and she never fails to remind you.
“Fuck, Agatha,” you gasp, and you usually don’t call her by her name during sex, normally opting for mommy, but you need the intimacy right now. You need to feel like this is real.
She groans into you and teases her tongue around your clit, never quite touching it, and you bury your fingers in her hair and gently pull on it. Her eyes flick up to yours as a warning and you loosen your grip. Agatha gives you an almost imperceptible nod and rewards you with one long lick to your clit and your head falls back.
You can no longer hold yourself up when she thrusts her tongue inside you, and you fall back onto the bed, instantly clenching around you. She feels so fucking good, her tongue curling inside your cunt and her nose brushing against your clit, and you angle a leg up on the bed so she can reach deeper inside you. “God, yes,” you sigh, and your orgasm is slowly starting to build up with each roll of your hips and each time your stomach tightens.
But something is missing — you can’t help your thoughts from straying and you just need more.
So you stop her and she looks up at you, the entire bottom half of her face and nose absolutely covered with you. Your clit throbs and you sit up.
“I need — I want — wanna taste you too, Aggie,” you whine and you’ve never used that nickname before, but you think she likes it because she lunges up, capturing your lips with hers again, and knocking you straight back onto the bed.
She nods while still kissing you, whispering, “Fuck, honey, how are you so hot? How are you so perfect for me?”
You clench around nothing and you claw at her shoulder blades frantically, knowing what you need but not how to ask for it.
But Agatha knows — she always knows what you want, except for when it really counts apparently. She gets off of you and scooches on her knees until she’s situated behind your head, facing your body. And then she moves to frame your face with her thighs, her glistening cunt hovering right above your face, and she bends over to pry your legs open before leaning down and sucking on your clit roughly.
You squirm and palm her ass to pull her down to your mouth, and at your first lick through her folds, she moans right into you, the vibrations making you jump. Eating her out while also being eaten out is an experience like no other you’ve ever had. Every single thing you do to her affects her, which in turn, affects you.
The positive feedback loop has both of you sloppily mouthing at each other’s cunts, mimicking motions while also losing all sense of rhythm, and when she digs her fingernails into your thighs and scrapes her teeth against your clit, you let out a high-pitched sound that has her riding your face furiously.
Agatha is getting louder too — you can feel it more than hear it, and you are completely drunk on her smell and her taste and how good she’s making you feel. You dip your tongue into her entrance, stroking against her convulsing walls before swirling around her clit and she pauses what she’s doing for a moment to just breathe heavily against your pussy before diving back in.
All thoughts of anything else are completely out of your foggy mind and you feel like you’re floating, not able to focus on anything else besides Agatha.
If you would’ve known that your dad having an affair would have led to you having the hottest sex with the hottest woman ever, you definitely wouldn’t have been so mad about it.
“Oh, god, baby, you’re so good,” she says into your cunt and it only makes you grind up harder. She matches your intensity, riding your face fast, her clit dragging against your tongue. You groan in agreement and her stomach glides against your nipples while hers do the same and you know that it won’t be long before either of you cum.
She nips at your inner thigh before plunging her tongue inside you and it has your hips bucking. “Fuck — Agatha,” you cry, barely able to keep eating her out because of how stimulated you are. Pleasure is racing through every ridge of your body and your head is spinning.
“That’s right, honey,” she pants, lathering her tongue all over your clit. “Cum for me.”
The tension inside you snaps and you cum, riding out the immense wave as she continues lapping at you and you suck on her clit, triggering her own orgasm. There’s a gush of wetness all over your face and she keeps rolling her hips, chasing the last tendrils.
That was one of the most intense orgasms you’ve ever had, you think, and when Agatha flops down onto the bed next to you, breathing heavily, you think she might agree.
“Fuck,” you say, completely wiped out, and Agatha chuckles weakly in response, reaching a hand out to rest her fingers against yours, not quite interlocking them. The two of you lay like that for what feels like forever, just soaking in the silence and the comfort of being right next to each other.
You’re not sure who moves first — maybe it’s a mutual decision, but eventually you slide up to the pillows and Agatha turns around and moves next to you. Rotating onto your side, you hear the sheets rustle behind you and right on cue, Agatha’s arm snakes around you, holding you close enough to her that you can feel her heartbeat against your back and her breath on your neck.
She kisses the top of your ear and you snuggle back against her. You know that you should put on clothes and clean up your mess, but for right now, you just need to feel her against you.
“We’re going to be okay?” you ask timidly. It seems like it was so long ago that you were spiraling out of control because you thought she was cheating.
Agatha’s arm tightens around yours. “We’re going to be okay. Everything is going to be okay.”
And you think you might actually believe her.

Hi Mae! I hope your week has started off well! I have a request if you don’t mind. Friday I have to go to the hospital early and spend most of the day there getting a bunch of testing done because I keep having these weird episodes and we don’t know what’s going on and I’m verrrrryyy nervous about it. So anyway I was thinking poly!wolfstar (or any of them) accompanying reader and comforting reader to the hospital/during/after. Maybe reader wants to cancel it all (because I kind of do) and they gently but firmly make her stick to it.
Hope your appointment went well lovely!
cw: mention of hospitals, general anxiety around that

This time of year, the kitchen is dark before dinnertime. Remus has turned on the light above the stove, but neither you nor Sirius move to flick on any others, leaving your home mostly in shadow and dim, amber glow. Sirius is illuminated by his laptop on the couch while you sit on a stool watching Remus cook. The low rumbling of his boiling water is the only sound. It’s a tranquil sort of quiet. You’re reading all the tension into it, probably.
Sirius certainly thinks so. He sneaks up behind you, arms winding around your middle and fingers prodding playfully at your sides. “Baby. Relax.”
“I’m relaxed.”
“Sure you are.”
“I am.”
Remus looks up from the stove to give you a look that isn’t quite chiding. Fond, perhaps. Knowing, definitely. “Dove, you’re rattling your stool.”
You hear it then, and still the bouncing of your knee with some effort.
He smiles, at once wry and kind. “It’s okay to be nervous,” he says.
Sirius makes a dubious humming noise. “I don’t know about that.” His face finds its way into the crook of your neck, meandering, his nose cool against your skin. “I think our girl should only have nice, blissful thoughts, and leave the nervousness for when it’s due. No sense in getting all worked up early.”
“Pads.” Remus’ tone is love-weary. “She’s allowed to be nervous.”
Your boyfriends make light of it, but this is one stark difference between them. Sirius and Remus have both known intense discomfort—to put it lightly—over their lives, and yet they react to witnessing it differently. Sirius can’t stand to think of anyone he cares for being less than perfectly happy; it makes him twitchy and near frantic. Remus doesn't like it either, of course, but he understands better than most that some things simply need to be borne. Rather than avoiding it, he offers a quiet, steady support.
Sirius, you think, is likely as nervous for your hospital visit as you are. It’s why he doesn’t want to talk about it.
“I could still cancel,” you say, softly enough that maybe you’re hoping not to be heard.
Both of your boyfriends seem not to have considered this possibility. Remus looks at you, brow tensing, and Sirius’ face stills on your shoulder.
Your voice smalls. “They said I could do it up until twelve hours before.”
“Sweetheart.” Sirius squeezes your middle, gently. “Don’t do that.”
“Why not?”
“Well, because then you’ll only have to be nervous all over again when you do go.”
“But what if I…” You find yourself sinking into his touch, letting him hold you up despite the fact that you’re sitting and he’s not. “...don’t?”
“You’ll have to go at some point.”
“I don’t have to.”
“You should, though.” Remus’ eyes capture yours, calm and dark brown in the low light. His expression is melded by sympathy and entirely too reasonable for your liking. “You can go on the way you have been, that’s your choice, but we know you’ve not been liking that.”
“I’ve not been very fond of it either,” Sirius mumbles.
“This is something you can do for a chance at getting better,” Remus goes on gently. “Nothing is going to change if you don’t.”
You take a long inhale. When you let it out, Sirius kisses your shoulder like a reward.
“I really don’t want to,” you say.
“I know, lovely.” Remus steps closer, reaching for your hand. You don’t realize until you give it to him that you’d been picking at your nailbeds. He pulls your fingers apart from each other with methodical caring. “It’s only one day. We’ll be there with you.”
You press your lips together solemnly. “I’m going to need a lot of hugs, I think.”
“Oh, god,” Sirius moans, arms still firmly around your waist. “What ever will we do?”
“You really do dole out the most unfair burdens, dove.” Remus goes from doting to dry in an instant, amusement flickering in his gaze.
“I mean, how are we expected to cope? I don’t know if I can handle all these demands, sweetness, I really don’t. You’ve made tomorrow a true hardship for us.”
“You’re the ones who want me to go.” You shrug. “Figure it out.”
“I suppose we’ll have to, won’t we?” Sirius gives you another squeeze, firmer this time to coax a smile from you. “Alright, then. Needs must. You worry about your portion, and we’ll worry about ours.”

Hi, I hope this is an okay question to ask. I am s l o w l y exploring and learning what kinds of kinks I like. I’m drawn to taboo kinks and I’m really curious about ageplay, but I’m worried that if I open the door to letting that be hot, I’m going to start seeing actual kids as hot. Obviously that doesn’t mean I would do anything about it, but I’m still not sure I want that in my head. Is there any truth in this fear? Could that happen?
well much in the same way that the majority of pup players aren't trying to hump real labradors on the street, D&D players generally aren't running around pulling swords on random shopkeepers, and my years doing Warriors Cats rp online never made me want to live in the woods pissing in the dirt and eating mice, I suspect that what you're attracted to is the safety of fantasy and play rather than the actual, literal thing. pretty big line between those two things, actually, and most people are pretty clear on the difference between stuff that's made up and harmless and stuff that's really really bad. I use this example often, but I assure you that my abiding love of Batman using his billions of dollars to dick around doing lawless bullshit has not softened my feelings on Elon Musk in the slightest.
I assume that, like most well-adjusted adults, you aren't attracted to children. what you're into is, presumably, adults acting in ways that are characterized as immature, carefree, cutesy, helpless, bratty, etc, and the dynamic of those playacting adults might have with others who take the role of their caregivers. that is... so, so, so far removed from being attracted to an actual human child. I don't know if you've ever actually, like, hung out with kids, but they're pretty different than adults. I mean obviously they're little humans who have their own opinions and ideas and personalities and have a right to autonomy and making their own decisions as much as is safely possible, but they are REALLY different from age appropriate, sexually compatible adults. someone doing ageplay is, like, a million miles from an actual kid.
it's kind of like how when Riverdale was on I'd see gifs of that insane redheaded lesbian and go "yeah, she's hot." like, sure, the character's a teenager, but that actress is an adult woman who's only two years younger than me and we all know that. the idea of fucking an actual teenager is vile. even if I were to see someone and have an initial aesthetic appreciation, the second they open their mouth and start saying 17 year old things the attraction is gone because I've realized that's a child.
(no offense to the teens in the room! you're great and I'm sure your 17 year old stuff is really important to you! but adults should not want to fuck you, is the point.)
so what I'm saying is: seems unlikely!
also, okay. let's assume the absolute worst case scenario happens and you experience a twinge of sexual interest towards a child. that's understandably alarming; that's not an urge most people want to harbor within themselves. that may require some dialing back from ageplay, or a chat with a kink-friendly mental health professional, or seeking out some community and advice from others in your kink scene who may have struggled with something similar. but please, give yourself some credit: you have some shred of impulse control within your body, yes? you're not going to make the leap from having a thought to being an active child predator in one fell swoop. the choice to harm a child, or to seek out pornographic material of child sexual abuse, are still choices that you would have to actually make. and it's making those choices to do harm that actually make child abusers a danger, not just having thoughts. having a thought all by itself doesn't hurt anyone; it's the way you act on it that has the potential to cause harm.
but again, I want to emphasize, sexual behavior is by and large a pretty easy wire not to get crossed with other things. please note the brave billions of people who manage to get through every day without groping their colleagues and random strangers because they understand it's not the appropriate time, place, or partner!

Just in case people missed this, I can't stop raving about @laidenbreecatchall art for Zoro! Just look at him! *sigh* Okay, back to the story:
This can't be happening. It can't. It's all a bad dream, and you're bound to wake up soon, drenched in sweat and tears. It has to be a nightmare.
Because the alternative is too terrifying.
“Tremble for me, Kitten.” He purrs against your ear, his breath sickeningly hot, as the fingers he has wrapped around your neck squeeze with a gentleness you wouldn't associate with a psychopath. “I get so turned on by seeing you scared.”
Gross. Sick. Disturbing.
Why does nobody come to your aid? The club is packed, doesn't anybody sense your distress? You try to move your head around in the vain hope of making eye contact with someone - anyone - but he just squeezes tighter. His chuckle is low, and somehow, you still hear it perfectly, even with the loud music thumping away in an infernal rhythm.
“Nobody is coming to help you, Princess. To everybody else, we look like a couple.” The hand that's gripping your wrist, holding it tight against your waist, pushes further, and you feel him pressed against your back. “To everybody else, you look like you're mine.”
He moves his lips, placing wet kisses along your neck as you sob softly. There's barely enough strength in you for more than that. You're terrified. Fight or flight instinct? How about frozen in fear? And what does he plan to do to you? Kidnap you? Abuse you? Kill you?
You try to turn your head to the side to get a glimpse of who he is because you can't shake the feeling that you've heard this voice before. You know this man. But the movement only makes him squeeze your neck tighter, and the only thing you glimpse is a black beanie.
“Not yet, Princess. You're not ready to see me yet.” He tuts softly and inhales your hair with a lewd groan. “Now… you know why I'm here, right? You misbehaved. You let the cop stay the night; you let the cop touch you; you let the cop kiss you.” He growls as he delivers the sentences, and his hand grips your wrist tighter. You're starting to lose feeling in the tips of your fingers as he seems to be cutting off your circulation. “I don't want to do this, Kitten, but I need to punish you. You need to learn.”
He sounds upset. Almost as if he's actually sorry he has to do this to you.
“But first…” He removes his hand from your neck, but it's as though a phantom limb is still pressed against your throat. The power and terror he exerts over you are unthinkable and terrifying. Then, you feel a weight in your pocket, and he sighs against your ear. “Here's your phone back, Princess. I got it from our kitchen drawer.” Our? “You can't shut me out. You won't change your phone again. Got it?”
You stay still, feeling dizzy and lightheaded. Your heart is thumping in such an insane rhythm that you wonder how you're not having a heart attack right now.
“Do you understand?” His free hand climbs your nape and grips your hair. When he pulls, you gasp and nod stiffly. “Good girl.” Another purr makes your ear vibrate, and you tremble from the heat of his breath against your skin.
His feverish touch travels from your nape to your neck, then to your clavicle, his nimble fingers gathering the fabric of your clothes as he exposes the flesh of your shoulder. Another involuntary shudder makes you tremble as you plead silently for one of your friends to come find you.
“You will do as I say and stop indulging the cop. Sever the connection, Kitten, or I will. And you won't like it.” His lips hover over your shoulder, and the hand on your wrist keeps squeezing. The bite of the bracelet is harsh and unforgiving, making your blood run cold.
“It would be the simplest thing. He gets called to an emergency and simply gets shot…” The stalker's chuckle sounds unhinged. “Boo-hoo. Another cop killed in the line of duty. No one would blink an eye.” Your lower lip trembles, and your heart constricts. He’s capable of hurting Zoro. And if Zoro dies, it's your fault. “But you'd know why he died. Do you want that, Kitten?”
“D–don't hurt him.” You whisper, and it's unlikely he heard you over all the loud noise of the club. Even so, for you, it seems as if the music is coming from a faraway place.
“That is entirely up to you.” He sighs, and you close your eyes. “Your punishment, Princess.” Then, his massive gloved hand covers your mouth as he sinks his teeth deep into your shoulder. You feel a sharp sting of pain traveling down your arm and back. Tears sting your eyes and your sobs drown in a muffled whine against his hand. The pain is blinding and hot, and you're pretty sure he's drawing blood.
A stark realisation hits you just as he removes his teeth from your flesh, his tongue collecting droplets of blood as he eases the sting.
He's marking you.
“Mine.” He growls, and a tear rolls down your cheek.
You feel helpless, violated, and terrified.
“You won't disobey me anymore, Kitten. You won't misbehave anymore, and more importantly, you'll get rid of the cop.” His hand leaves your mouth as he fixes your clothes to cover up the bite mark. “Or I will. Don't forget it.”
His other hand releases your wrist, and you let out a ragged breath as your fingers twitch from lack of circulation.
He's still pressing against you.
“You're almost ready. We'll be so happy together, Kitten.” Your head slumps forward when he presses his lips against the back of it in a mockery of affection. “Don't disappoint me anymore.”
Then, just as swiftly as he approached you, he leaves. You turn quickly on the spot, trying to get a glimpse of your tormentor, but you only seem to catch a sliver of white.
Was it hair? Clothes? The reflection of the lights?
Or just your tears playing tricks on your mind?
With trembling fingers and uneven breaths, you dislodge the bracelet that seemed to mould into your skin. The redness is daunting - it will bruise. Another whimper makes your lower lip tremble as you try to keep your wits about you.
You need to calm down. You need to act like nothing happened.
Zoro will be here any second now, and the stalker's threats were very clear. He'll hurt Zoro. He'll get rid of him if you don't push him away - whatever that might mean, so your plan to tell Zoro everything just went out the window.
You need to keep him safe. At all costs.
“Miss, your drinks are ready.”
A gasp leaves your lips, and you nod at the bartender. You’re still massaging your wrist, trying to alleviate some of the redness, but it's not disappearing. It's just getting worse.
The way your heart is beating out of sync is a testament to how scared you still are. You need to compose yourself. New plan: take the drinks to the table and immediately excuse yourself to go to the bathroom. Then maybe you can leave, claiming to be sick. You can't disguise the bruising on your wrist, though. Thank heavens the bite on your shoulder is hidden.
With a steadying nod, you pick up the tray of beverages and make your way to the booth.
Leave the drinks. Bathroom. Excuse. Home.
It's simple. You can do it. And then you can work out a plan. Maybe you can make an anonymous tip to the police about your stalker. Would that work? Or beg Ichiji again for protection? Even if you have to grovel? Maybe ask your father where he stores his rifle and take matters into your own hands?
You try to ignore the fact that just the stalker’s presence left you frozen in fear. It's highly unlikely you can fight for yourself. Who are you trying to kid?
Leave the drinks. Bathroom. Excuse. Home.
You repeat the words like a mantra, but as soon as you set the tray on the table, you feel a touch on your waist, making you immediately flinch and hide your arm behind your back.
“Hey, Troublemaker.”
“Zoro!” The moment your eyes fall on his, all your resolve crumbles. He can help you, you know he can.
“Get rid of the cop… Or I will.”
“He gets called to an emergency and simply gets shot.”
No. You can't tell him anything.
Not yet, at least. Not before you have a foolproof plan to protect him. Can his captain help? Surely he can. You just need time to think this through. You need to shake away the fear and think with a cool head.
“Are you alright?” Zoro's eye scans your face. It's most likely still red. Your eyes still feel watery, and you're sure he's picking up on those signs. Zoro's hand still lingers on your waist, so you shuffle away from him and force a smile, your arm tucked behind your back.
“Yes, Zoro. I'm fine. Did everything work out with the bomb threat?” You step away from him and distribute the drinks with just one hand, your jaw clenching with the fakest smile you've ever produced.
“Not really, it was a freaking mess.” He sighs, scratching the back of his neck. “Most of the time, these things are fake. Someone wants attention and pulls one of these, thinking it's funny. This time, it was a real threat.”
A small gasp leaves your lips as you lock eyes with Zoro again. A real bomb? But… Does that mean it wasn't the stalker who planted it? Or does it mean it was him, and he's just showing you again how seriously he can play?
How easily can he hurt Zoro?
“Another cop killed in the line of duty.”
“Shit.” You exclaim, and Zoro nods while reaching for a beer from the tray. After a sip, his expression softens, and he reaches for your waist again.
“Come here. We can talk later - we need to talk later - but for now… just come here.”
Your heart thumps louder than the music, and you feel your phone vibrating in your pocket. He's still watching.
“It would be the simplest thing…”
You take a step back to avoid Zoro's touch, your smile faltering as you try your hardest to keep a neutral expression.
“Trouble?” Zoro reaches again, and it's like your chest is exploding as you avoid his touch once more. “You're running again.”
The faintest flicker of pain darkens Zoro's gaze, and you bite your lower lip just to keep it from trembling.
“I'm not… I… I have to go to the bathroom.” And before he says something else, you rush towards the dimly lit corridor that leads to the bathrooms, but before you can take refuge inside, you hear Zoro call your name.
He’s following you.
You pretend that you don't hear him and press on, hastening your step.
“Wait!” He calls you again, and you raise your hand to push the door open, unshed tears are already pricking the back of your eyes. Would it be simpler to just tell him everything and hope for the best?
“You'd know why he died.”
You can't tell him.
“Trouble, stop!” Zoro nearly growls, his hand wrapping around your injured wrist in an effort to stop you. Instant pain shoots up your arm as you let out a hiss and a grunt. Stopping and turning towards him with a pained expression on your face, you almost let out a sob.
Zoro releases you instantly, his hands shooting up in a defeated position while his brows scrunch, searching your face for any clue as to why you reacted like this.
“I barely touched you.” Then it happens fast, and you don't have time to react.
Zoro's eye lowers as his gaze settles on your bruised wrist. You see it widen, his pupil dilating as realisation washes over him.
“What the fuck?” The music seems farther away in the bathroom corridor, yet it still vibrates low, making your chest thump in the same rhythm as the electronic tempo, but the buzzing in your ears doesn't come from the loud noise.
You've been caught.
“Who the fuck did this to you?” Zoro takes a menacing step forward, and you can physically feel the way the air shifts. You have no time to react when he grabs your arm again - avoiding the bruised area - and inspects it, revulsion and fury contorting his expression. “Tell me, Trouble. Now.” Zoro's tone brooks no arguments. He sounds deadly serious. No. He just sounds deadly.
“I–” You take a deep exhale and try to release your arm from Zoro's grasp, but it doesn't budge. His eye jumps from your face to your arm like he can't stand the sight of the bruise, but can't stand to look away either. “It's nothing, Zo!” You force a laugh, and it sounds fake and high-pitched. “I bumped into someone earlier and almost fell. The guy grabbed my wrist to keep me from falling, and the bracelet dug into my skin.” Another fake laugh. “You know how clumsy I am.”
That was believable. You think.
Zoro's jaw clenches and unclenches, and he snaps his neck, rotating his head as he also takes a deep exhale, a gesture meant to calm himself down.
“Lie to me one more time, Trouble…”
“I'm not–”
“You are! That's not an accidental bruise! Stop trying to fucking gaslight me. What the fuck is going on? Who the fuck do I have to kill?”
Shit. Fuck. Shit.
Bzzzz. Bzzzz.
“You're being dramatic, Zoro, it really is nothing, I–”
“You stop showing up, you look like a ghost, you don't eat, you're scared, jumpy, you run from me and avoid my touch. Yet yesterday, you clung to me as if I was your lifeline.” Zoro takes another step forward, and now he's almost flush with you.
Safety. He's safety.
Bzzzz. Bzzzz.
“And now this? Let me in. Tell me what the fuck is going on.”
You can't.
“Zo…”
“There you guys are! Come on! We're going to sing happy birthday to Nami before Luffy raids the fridge and eats the cake by himself.” Usopp says, without really realising he’s intruded on a private conversation, but you couldn't be more thankful to him.
You take the opportunity while Zoro's distracted to actually run away from him, confirming his earlier affirmation that you're running and not caring one bit.
He can hate you all he wants. He can even be hurt with you.
You just can't bear it if he actually ends up hurt.
Or worse.
Dead.
-*-
The thumping music stopped just for Nami. The DJ got the birthday melody playing, and the whole club is celebrating your friend's birthday, even the ones that don't know her.
You can't stop a small smile from spreading on your lips: everybody loves Nami.
You somehow managed to lose Zoro amongst the hordes of people - he's big and bulky, so that gives him more trouble to manoeuvre around the crowd - and as soon as Nami blows out the candles, just after she and Vivi share a sweet kiss, you hug her and make up a quick excuse to leave the party early.
Then you flee the club without another thought. Not even caring if you don't have a ride home or if you didn't say goodbye to your friends.
You just need to get away from Zoro and his questioning.
The slight night chill and the difference in temperature make you shiver, though another buzz from your phone assures you the tremble comes from something other than the cold.
Yet, before you take two steps, his voice makes you stop.
“Stop running from us.” It’s Zoro. “Stop running from me.” He sounds exasperated and conflicted.
Your shoulders slump forward as you inhale deeply. He's relentless, and he will get to the bottom of this if he keeps pushing. And you can't allow that.
Even if it will destroy you.
“Tell me what's wrong, Trouble.” You turn to face him, and your knees wobble. Zoro's eye is full of anguish. He runs a hand through his hair and paces forward - everything in his posture is desperate. “I don't know what else to do to help you. I've tried being tough, I've tried giving you space, I'm trying to be understanding… Trouble… meet me in the middle. Please.”
You can't do this. You can't. He looks so broken, so helpless. And this could be easily remedied if you just told him what's going on.
But you can't. Because you know the Stalker will kill Zoro. And you can't bear that. You'd rather be scared and trapped for the rest of your life than risk Zoro's.
Zoro sees you struggling and takes full advantage of it, trying to sway you by cupping your face as he forces you to look at him.
“Let me in.” He pleads with a whisper.
Closing your eyes, you open your mouth to speak, but it's as if your voice was stolen. The lump in your throat grows, and so does the pain in your chest.
There's no other way.
“You got it all wrong, Zoro.” Your voice sounds foreign and affected. Still, you now focus your gaze on Zoro's scar. Not his eye, you can't bear that. “I'm not interested. I never was.”
Zoro's hands twitch slightly as his brow furrows, but you barely give him time to process your words before you deliver more pain.
“You just can't take a hint, can you? I'm trying to get away from you, but you keep pushing. I don't care for you like that, Zoro.”
You have to close your eyes to keep away the moisture and to prevent acknowledging Zoro's pain.
“Gosh, stop being clingy and needy. Leave me alone. That's all. I'm fine, I just need you to give me space.”
Zoro's hands part with your face torturously slow. You don't look him in the eye anymore, clenching your fists to prevent them from shivering violently.
But you stand your ground.
You need to push Zoro away. He needs to be safe. Even if your heart is shattering.
“Bullshit.”
“What?”
He stopped touching you, but he didn't back away. And as your eyes raise to meet his, you can see steely determination where before was only despair.
“You heard me: Bull. Shit.”
Bzzzz. Bzzzz.
Fuck.
“I'm dead serious, Zoro. This was fun and all, but I'm done. Leave me alone.”
You turn on your heel, trapping a sob behind clenched teeth and fighting back tears.
“Is this how you want to play? I can see what you're trying to do, Trouble, and it's bullshit.”
Bzzzz.
You shouldn't read it.
Yet you do.
Unknown: Try harder, Kitten, or I'll make him go away permanently.
“I’m not playing at anything. You don't matter.” The words leave your lips in the form of a whisper, but they linger in the air as if they were poisonous gas. Your insides twist and turn, and you feel nauseous.
“Say that again, Trouble.” You barely hear him, not only because of all the ringing in your ears, but also because his hurt is drowning the words.
Bzzzz.
No, no, no. You can't.
Bzzzz.
You have to.
“I said–”
“Turn around and say it to my face.”
A sob claws its way up your throat, and you swallow it back down. You need to keep it together for now.
With a slow turn, you face Zoro's disbelief, willing your heart to slow down, trying to keep your own emotions at bay before you collapse in tears.
“You don't matter.” You repeat the words, and the way Zoro's face turns from disbelief to pain is immediate and heartbreaking. “I was just having fun, but I didn't expect you to become so obsessed with me.”
You aimed to hurt, and it worked.
Zoro takes a step back as his eye faces the ground. The way his chest rises up and down with heavy gasps almost brings out the tears you're trying so hard to suppress.
“Goodbye.”
You turn and hasten your step, wanting to get away from him as fast as you can.
“Fine.” Your steps waver for a second when you hear Zoro’s voice, before you return to your uneven stride. “Fine! I'll back off. But I know you're lying to me.”
He doesn't say anything else, and you don't want to acknowledge the pain you heard in his voice. The pain you caused. Because your own pain is unbearable and immense.
And now you've pushed away the one person who would help and protect you unconditionally.
Bzzzz.
Unknown: That's my good girl. The punishment worked. You're almost ready.
-*-
Fuck, fuck, fuck!
Zoro grits his teeth as his eye follows your shrinking form, watching it disappear into the dark horizon. Every freaking instinct tells him to follow you, but you've just pushed him away with everything you've got.
‘You don't matter.’
“Fuck!”
“Hey! What's going on?” Usopp places his hand on Zoro's shoulder, and he sighs, running a desperate hand through his hair.
“Nothing.” Then Zoro spots Kaya buttoning her jacket. “You leaving?”
“Yeah, I'm taking Kaya home, we have an early day tomorrow.” Usopp looks around and spots your disappearing form. “Where's she going?”
“What did you do?” Kaya interjects, hands already placed on her hips with a menacing scowl to back up her tiny, aggressive stance. Usopp’s brow raises at his girlfriend, and then he mimics her stance, his gaze also demanding answers Zoro doesn't really want to give. Zoro grits his teeth again, trapping a growl against them. He's so pissed, he can't even think straight.
“I didn't do anything!” He answers, exasperated. “Fuck! Usopp, can you give her a ride home? She just fucking left.”
Usopp nods, and Kaya jogs a little, trying to catch up with you before you gain more distance from them. So Zoro starts walking towards the club again before you come back, wanting to avoid another confrontation.
“Thanks.” He pats Usopp’s back and goes inside to say goodbye to his friends and grab his stuff.
This shit’s not over. You may think you've pushed him away with your performance, but all you did was reel him in more. Zoro had his suspicions, but now he's sure.
Someone is messing with you. And though his brain is telling him that someone is connected to Lucci and the store clerk, his heart is trying to push that possibility away. Because that fucker is dangerous, and Zoro's hoping against all hope that he didn't set his eyes on you.
Or Zoro’s going to have to murder someone.
Zoro's jaw keeps clenching as he drives towards the station. Even though he has the night off, he can't stay still. He's going to present his suspicions to Captain Mihawk and then forge a plan to protect you. Even if he has to drag your ass to the station and lock you in a cell.
He'll fucking do it.
Anything to keep you safe.
You're not going to spend another fucking day terrified of something you won't even tell him about.
‘You don't matter.”
Like shit, he doesn't. You can lie to him all you want.
He'll never give up on you.
-*-
It's barely after midnight when Usopp and Kaya drop you off at home. They have to get up early in the morning, so they couldn't party late, and you told them you weren’t feeling very well.
Neither of them pressed because they could clearly see the tears you were trying so hard to fight back. And you're sure they both know that you're crying because of Zoro, seeing as it was him who told them to give you a ride.
They just don't know that you were the asshole who brought the pain to both of you.
As Usopp’s car disappears down the driveway, you bolt the lock on the front door and place a chair against the doorknob, knowing deep down that it won't keep the stalker away, but still aiming for a sense of safety you know you won't achieve.
You do the same to your room, discard your club clothes, and finally look in the mirror to see the mark he left there. Your eyes widen as your trembling fingers run over the bruise: you can clearly identify the teeth marks, there's still caked blood around the wound and it's already turning a dark bruise colour.
You choke back sobs as you disinfect the wound and dress in your pyjamas. Outside, the weather seems to match your mood as you start to hear the gentle pitter-patter of the soft rain against the window.
You feel drained and exhausted. You were, once again, pushed into a corner. Never have you felt so trapped, helpless, and lonely. All the earlier fight, the will to try and find ways to get out of this predicament, left your body along with the hurtful words you delivered to Zoro.
‘You don’t matter.’
Gosh… he’s everything! But if it takes breaking you both apart just to save him, then you’ll do it over and over again.
Tomorrow is another day, and maybe after some serious consideration, you’ll know what to do.
As you curl up in your bed, trying to stay awake, but already knowing you'll succumb to exhaustion after having cried your heart out, you glance at your buzzing phone before closing your eyes.
Unknown: Such a good Kitten. My beautiful Princess. My love. Sleep. I'll watch over you.
-*-
You wake up with a jolt, feeling that something is amiss. You look around, your eyes darting to every shadow and every corner because your room feels wrong. Yet, you find everything in the same place. The shadows are still, and the room is quiet.
Your heart thrums against your chest, and you take a deep breath to try and calm down. It must've been a nightmare.
Patting your nightstand, you grab your phone. 01:15. It's still so early. Why did you wake up so suddenly?
And then you notice it. At first, it's just a red blur standing in your nightstand, but then, as you focus your wet eyes, they widen in fear, and you clasp your hand over your mouth.
There's a single red rose in the nightstand. He's been in your room.
He was near you.
A sob disturbs the quietness of the night, and almost immediately, it gets drowned out by a loud thunderclap. And then, you see something else.
Trembling fingers reach out, and you grab the small paper: it's a photo. And when your eyes adjust to the image and your brain processes it, you stay frozen in place, your breath held in suspension as more tears flood your eyes.
It’s a polaroid of you sleeping. Your brows are furrowed, and your cheek is wet, but what steals your breath is the huge, veiny, tanned hand that's gripping your hair in possession. The word ‘mine’ is scribbled in red across the picture in a distinct claim.
He was in your house.
He was in your room.
He touched you.
And you didn't even notice.

"How dare you talk about my future husband like that…"
Pairing: Clayton Keller x Fem!Reader
Warnings: Hurt/Comfort
Summary: Clayton is feeling self conscious about his eye since his injury, you are not having any of it.
Notes: I've been noticing that Clay's still got some bloodshot and damage to his eye and just wondered if he feels a little self conscious about it (even though he shouldn't because he's so handsome.)
Totally happy to take requests/ideas/prompts at the moment in my ask box :)
Writing Masterlist
Clayton is staring at himself in the hallway mirror when you get home from running some errands. Turning this way and that, long fingers pulling at the skin around his left eye where it’s still somewhat bruised and swollen. The eye that is still bloodshot and damaged from the puck he took to the face a few weeks ago. It’s been a slow to heal problem, one he seemed to not be bothered by, until now.
When he lets out a rough, heavy sigh and glances over at you with a frown, you know somethings wrong before he even starts to speak. It’s all in the set of his shoulders, in the downturn of his mouth, the way he’s not smiling at seeing you back home.
"I look fucking awful right now."
The comment has you dropping your shopping bags to the floor, not caring too much about your shopping, hands falling to rest on your hips as you glare at your boyfriend. Your handsome, wonderful boyfriend who had just dared to call himself anything but.
"Take that back right now." Clay rolls his eyes at you, at the harsh tone of your voice and the way you’re standing like a disapproving parent. He knows he looks awful and doesn’t want your pity, his eye looks like someone’s burst it and the skin around is all weird mottled colours, sickly yellows and greens. It’s ugly. Disgusting. He’s surprised you’ve been able to stand looking at him the past few weeks and he doesn’t want your pity, your false reassurances.
"But, I do, my eye is so fucking messed up still...fucking ugly." The words are spat out, like they taste bad and they certainly leave a bad taste in your mouth as you close the short distance between the two of you, hands falling to his wrist, landing over his bracelets as you tug until he looks at you. Your thumb brushing against the delicate skin of his wrist.
Some of your anger, your bite is gone the moment he looks at you because he’s so…so sad, you can tell that Clayton genuinely feels like his eye is ugly, like the bruising, the bloodshot nature of it all, makes him any less wonderful. You’re not used to him being self conscious or sad, he’s always so level headed. It’s usually you in his spot and him in yours.
"How dare you talk about my future husband like that…" Your voice doesn’t have any of the bite that it might have done a few minutes ago, in fact your voice is quiet and soft as you look up at him. Your hand slips from his wrist, fingers twining with his to hold his hand like it’s the most natural thing in the world.
"Y/N..." He groans low in his throat, deep and scratchy, head tilting and falling to his shoulder. He doesn’t believe you, you can tell, he thinks you’re just trying to make him feel better and that’s just not on.
A strand of his hair falls forward from where it had been slicked back, you reach up with your free hand to push it back and out of the way, taking the opportunity to cup his face after, fingers rubbing at the skin around his eye gently.
"I mean it. You're not ugly, it's not possible. The only thing I think when I see your eye is that I hope you're not in pain..." That’s all you’d been concerned about for the past 3 weeks, that Clay was comfortable, that every time you kissed him you weren’t causing him more pain. The idea that he wasn’t as handsome had never even crossed your mind. You’re not actually sure it’s possible for Clay to be anything but handsome.
“You don’t have to say stuff to make me feel better, baby…it’s okay, it’s ugly and it’s fine.”
“Clayton John Keller.” You snap out, hand cupping his cheek more firmly and turning his eyes to look at you, really look at you as you step further into his personal space, “Stop assuming i’m lying. I have never lied to you, not once.” It’s something you’ve never felt the need to do around Clay, even when you first started dating…it didn’t matter how bad the situation, you knew that Clay wouldn’t judge you or yell at you, so you’d never felt that panic, that need to hide anything from him and you certainly weren’t going to lie about this. “You could lose an eye, you could have bruises across your entire face, a broken nose, split lip, and I would still think you’re the most handsome man on this planet, Clayton Keller and I am not lying about that.”
“C’mon, baby, you can’t seriously tell me that this,” Clay gestures to his eye, to the big red blood spot across his sclera, “is attractive?”
“Why not? I…” He raises an eyebrow at you when you stop yourself short and you work up the bravery inside you to admit something you’ve kept quiet, “I actually think…this makes me a terrible person by the way and I'm sorry, but I actually think you look hotter injured.” You close your eyes tight, scrunching up your features, before opening one eye to check his reaction.
“What?” He’s stumped, looking at you like you just told him the president was an alien or that chocolate was actually made from insects. Clay’s mouth is open, jaw dropped just slightly, brows furrowed, blue eyes confused and it’s adorable, even if you feel embarrassed about your confession.
“Look, I know it makes me a terrible person but there’s something about you covered in blood and bruises…”
A smirk starts to grow on Clay’s face once your words sink in, the closest thing to a smile you’ve seen from him since walking through the front door. His blue eyes gleam with a sort of twisted delight, a mischief that makes your stomach buzz with butterflies, as his dimples start to show on one side of his mouth.
“...Is that why you practically jumped me after the Winnipeg game, sweet girl?” You don’t even realise he’s corralling you, moving you until your back hits the hallway wall and he’s leaning over you, forearm pressed against the wall beside your head.
“Shut up…” You murmur it, unable to do much more as your body fills with giddy, nervous energy (the good kind), as your face warms and your toes curl because of how he’s looking at you, all half-lidded eyes and a toothy smirk that makes you want to scream like a teenage girl. How he ever thought he was ugly you can’t comprehend when he makes you feel like you’re combusting right now.
“...You still think I'm handsome?” It’s teasing, mischievious as he leans ever closer, until your only response is a high pitched giggle that gives you away because fuck, he’s so hot…you’re not sure how you nabbed him, what made him pick you of all people, but you’re thankful for whatever convinced him you were the one.
“Baby? Do you think i’m handsome?” He asks again because apparently your giggles aren’t enough of an answer or more accurately because he hates you and wants to torture you even as he smiles down at you all dimples and teeth.
“I always think you're handsome…especially when you smile like that.”
“C’mere,” It’s silly how he always says that, but he’s the one that moves towards you. Clay’s quick to close the distance between you, slanting his mouth over yours into a sweet but firm kiss, it lasts longer than you expect, long enough for your hands to make their way into his shoulder length strands, long enough for him to practically press you into the wall, “Thanks for keeping me in check, baby,” He’s practically murmuring it against your lips, not pulling away any further than necessary and you consider this an achievement. That you’ve taken his mood from self conscious and dower, back to teasing and sweet, back to standard Clay.
“You’re welcome.”
“Just know I'm never going to forget that you’re a little freak who thinks I'm hotter when I'm bloody.”
“Clay, I swear to God!”

"I just don't like the way he's looking at them,"
Cater looks up from his cup, and the foam heart he was trying to snap a pic of melts into his latte.
"You can barely see his face. And you've said that like, three times," the ginger says. "You've barely even touched your mug. It's basically iced coffee now."
Trey finally looks at Cater, his neck sore from craning over his shoulder.
His mug is cold to the touch.
"I'm starting to think you only invited me here 'cause you knew the Prefect was coming. Like, ouch," Cater smiles.
Trey's face flushes red. "What! No, I-I just thought the shop had a good deal today,"
Cater rolls his eyes.
"As much as I love drama, this is lowkey sad," he says. "You need to move on, Trey. It's been months."
Trey knows he's right, which makes his observation hurt even more. He mumbles some poor excuse into his cup of lukewarm coffee, but he can't keep his eyes to himself for long.
"He definitely goes to RSA. I don't trust him," he mutters, eyeing the boy you're with.
"Che'nya goes to RSA, doesn't he?"
"Would you trust Che'nya with your ex?"
"Yeowch. Point taken," Cater smiles, stirring his untouched latte with a dainty spoon. "So, what are you gonna do about it?"
Trey hesitates. He would have loved to just... march over there and steal you away from that pompous bastard...
But he won't.
"Nothing,"
"Pfft," Cater snorts. "You need to be more assertive, man. Otherwise we're just stalking the Prefect. Yeah, that'll impress them."
"It's not about that!! And it's not stalking!"
Cater rolls his eyes and returns to his phone, the uninvited third wheel of every outing with him.
Still, his words bother Trey. That was the problem, wasn't it? He just wasn't... assertive.
He didn't take your side, or stand up for you. He wasn't there when you needed him most, the fool. That's why you dumped him.
If assertive is what you want...
Trey stands, surprising Cater to the point of putting his phone away, and he marches across the coffee shop, brow furrowed, arms firmly at his side. The RSA boy you're with sees him first, and then you.
"Trey? What are you-"
"You," he says, pointing right at the white-uniform wearing, silver-spoon sucking little bastard.
Your jaw drops. The boys' eyes widen (does he look familiar or what?) Cater pushes his chair out, as if preparing to intervene.
Trey takes a deep breath.
"You... you treat them right, do you hear me? Prefect is the sweetest person I know, and they deserve someone just as perfect! Listen to them, okay? Be the person they can rely on, they can trust... the person I- that I wasn't. Just- you'd better be a good boyfriend, or I'll make you regret it, alright?!"
Cater sits back down. Both you and the boy you're with seem to soften, more confused than concerned now.
Trey turns and marches back to his seat. "Let's go,"
The ginger grins and looks behind him. Trey follows his gaze, and it's... you.
"Did you follow me?" you demand. His face goes bright red.
"Uh... um, I... yes. But I only wanted to make sure you were okay. That's... all I've ever wanted,"
Cater gives him a double thumbs-up. You frown, and he mutters a quick "I'll go wait outside" before darting out the door. Trey's blush darkens to crimson.
"Listen, I'm really sorry I interrupted your date. I just wanted to make sure you were being taken care of, and-"
"Trey," you stop him. "I'm not on a date. And that's not my boyfriend."
Huh.
...What?
"Oh?"
You sigh, gesturing between the two. "Trey, Neige. Neige, Trey," and you lower your voice. "I'm here on Vil's behalf. Some movie thing."
Ohh. That makes sense. Trey's face only gets redder, if possible, and he clears his throat. "...My mistake,"
Your frown softens, and you sigh.
"You couldn't have known... and... thanks for worrying about me, I guess. Maybe next time we can talk in private?"
Next time. Trey's heart flutters at the promise, if he dare call it that, and he nods.
"A-ah, of course. Next time,"

Bf!Carl who could die for you. He loves you more than anything, the only person he puts above you being Judith, and he makes sure you know it.
Bf!Carl who goes out when it’s soon your birthday or Valentine day to grab you a gift. And if he can’t find anything, he creates something himself, often a pearl bracelet or fake paper flowers.
Bf!Carl who always puts his head on your lap and pretend to sleep since he knows that you'll braid his hair, thinking he is deep asleep. And when he will 'wake up', the boy will pretend to be upset even though the feeling of your hands in his hair is his favorite. But he can't let you know that.
Bf!Carl who, when he gets bitten, makes sure to have you by his side but doesn’t let you put him down, even though you want to. He doesn’t want it to be your last image of him. So before leaving forever, he takes you in his arms, kisses your forehead, and tells you how much he loves you. “Remember I will always be with you. Take care of you, okay ? I’ll know if you don’t.” and with shaky hands, he wipes your tears away from your soft cheeks. “I love you.”

caleb x reader, slight zayne x reader, but they're kids y'know, childhood fluff, 1k, ao3
Zayne always had his nose buried in something. A book, a notepad, sometimes just his own thoughts, but no matter what, it was never you.
And it wasn’t like you weren’t trying.
You kicked your legs where you sat on the porch steps, chewing absently on the end of your straw as you slurped the last of your juice box. Zayne sat a few feet away, cross-legged in the grass, flipping through a thick, medical textbook like it was the most interesting thing in the world. You watched him shamelessly, eyes narrowed in childish determination.
He was so serious, all the time. Always with his books, always thinking. You didn’t know what went on in that head of his, but you wanted to.
You sucked the last of your juice, the hollow slurp breaking the quiet. Then, an idea struck you. With the confidence of a master strategist, you crumpled the empty juice box in your hand, weighing it like a projectile before launching it straight at Zayne.
It landed on his lap with a soft thmp.
Zayne exhaled — not quite a sigh, but close. Without missing a beat, he peeled the juice box off his book, set it neatly beside him, and resumed reading, all without looking up.
You pouted. That wasn’t the reaction you wanted.
Caleb, sprawled lazily a few steps behind you, snorted.
"Why are you bugging him?" Caleb asked, spinning a small rubber ball in his hands, his fingers idly rolling it back and forth, the four-to-four grid tic-tac-toe game chalked on the steps between you pitifully abandoned.
"I’m not bugging him," you huffed, chin lifting defiantly. "I’m helping him take a break."
Caleb hummed, skeptical but amused. "Mmhm. Sure you are."
Zayne, for his part, still hadn’t said a word.
You scooted closer to him, resting your elbows on your knees and palms cradling your chin. "Zayne," you said, expectantly.
No answer.
You leaned in closer. "Zaaaaaaayne."
His brow twitched slightly. That was progress.
"You should be my best friend," you declared.
This time, Zayne did sigh. A quiet, resigned thing, like he knew there was no getting out of this. "I don’t need one."
You gasped, deeply offended. "Of course you do! Everybody needs a best friend!"
"I have Caleb," Zayne pointed out, finally glancing at you.
"But Caleb’s my best friend," you argued, glaring accusingly.
Caleb blinked at you. "Wait, what? Since when?"
"Since forever," you said, like it was obvious. "Right?"
Caleb’s lips quirked at the corners. You didn’t even notice that he never actually answered.
Zayne turned a page in his book. "You should find someone else."
"But I want you," you whined, dragging the words out like a plea. "You’re so smart and serious and cool—"
"Okay," Caleb cut in, leaning forward to rest his chin in his palm, his smile was tense. "You’re getting greedy now. Aren’t I enough?"
You shot him a glare, cheeks burning. "I’m not!"
Zayne didn’t even acknowledge you anymore. Conversation over.
You puffed your cheeks, frustrated. "Fine. Then I’ll just marry you, instead."
Caleb's toss was off. The rubber slipped through his fingers, bouncing once against the porch before rolling away down the steps. He froze for half a second, watching it escape, before shaking his head with a chuckle as if the miss didn’t bother him at all, and went after it to pick it up.
Zayne stopped turning pages. Slowly, he looked up at you, cringing. Then he said, as flatly as humanly possible: "You’re eight."
You huffed. "Not forever."
He just blinked at you, then returned to his book without another word.
Defeated, you fell forwards into the grass with an overdramatic groan.
"Ughhh, he’s impossible."
"Yep," Caleb agreed far too quickly, crouching by your side.
You turned to him, suspicious. "What’s so funny?"
"Nothing. You’re just ugly when you’re sulking."
You pouted at him, plucking at the blades of grass beneath you, tearing them into tiny pieces before tossing them at his direction.
Caleb just watched you, dodging your attacks.
The next morning, when he and his family were over to visit and he hid away predictably in the garden, you tried again. You sat next to Zayne on the steps, stubbornly silent this time. You figured maybe if you were quiet like him, he’d take you seriously.
He didn’t.
He didn’t even blink at your presence. You sat up straighter, puffed out your chest, trying to radiate the same composed, unbothered air that he did. It was exhausting. You were bored out of your mind in no time.
Caleb, however, noticed right away. He plopped down next to you, poking your cheek. "Why are you doing this to yourself?"
You crossed your arms, huffing. "I’m being cool."
Caleb laughed, soft and warm. "You’re ridiculous," he murmured, before reaching out to ruffle your hair. His touch was easy, familiar, and it immediately melted away your frustration.
"Stop bothering him," he said. "Zayne has to study hard, unlike you."
You ignored Caleb. You were cool like that.
He simply stood, stretching lazily before tossing the ball into the air once more. "C’mon," he said, catching it effortlessly. "Let’s do something cooler. Wanna help me with an experiment?"
You blinked up at him, momentarily distracted from your failure. "What kind of experiment?"
Caleb grinned, the kind of grin that meant trouble. "Gravity stuff. But I need an assistant."
Your eyes narrowed, intrigued despite yourself. "What do I have to do?"
"Just hold onto something heavy and see what happens." He tossed his ball up again, only this time, it didn’t come back down right away. It hovered midair, rotating lazily, untouched by his hand. He let it stay there, waiting, watching your face light up with realization.
"You’re gonna do that to me?!" you gasped, excitement overtaking any lingering frustration.
"Maybe. Maybe not." His eyes gleamed with mischief. "Depends if you’re brave enough."
Zayne still hadn’t looked up. He was already forgotten.
"I’m brave!" you shot back immediately, scrambling to your feet, jumping up and down. "Do it!"
Caleb’s laugh was bright and victorious as he stretched out his hand. "Then come here. Let’s see if you can fly."

I miss poppy and mark still and I miss that version of joe (and always bookstore joe) but that joe please he was such an idiot😭 I miss him and this is all your fault (said with so much love bye going to reread everything (again))
ok so it took me a good second, but, here you go bby <3 to the girls unfamiliar with poppy and mark: maybe have a look here Wordcount: 2.3K
---
Won’t Say It Until You Will
Sometimes you still don’t quite understand how you’ve gone literal years thinking Joe couldn’t fucking stand you.
You’d gotten so used to his stand-offish demeanor. To the arrogant smirks you’d catch just before he’d bite them back, just in time for Poppy or Mark to notice. To his overall unapproachability, and the heavy judgment that would drip off of him.
For years you thought you didn’t like Joe, simply because you were convinced Joe didn’t like you.
Didn’t like you as a person.
As Mark’s friend.
As someone that, through Mark falling for Poppy, was going to be in his life now.
You think you’re still adjusting to the sudden change. And the change was definitely sudden. Learning that, actually, Joe was trying to keep as much distance as he possibly could for the exact opposite of what you thought had been quite the shock. You might be adjusting for a while longer, still.
Which makes sense.
It is all quite the adjustment.
Joe used to be so weird around you, and you were always left to figure out why all by yourself.
The big difference now, though, is that every time Joe sees that you doubt yourself in whatever interaction you have with him, he’s quick to set the record straight.
He’s not allowed to say I love you yet.
You have to say it first for it to feel normal. Granted, barely anything about how this started feels normal to begin with. But this is something you hold onto. You tell him to shut up all the time, because you have come to know this look Joe will throw you.
This soft, adoring sort of dreamy stare Joe has a hard time containing. It’s truly quite something to be looked at like you’re the single best thing in current existence to someone. Like you’ve got shimmery diamonds and liquid gold where your heart should be.
It’s a shame it makes you frown the way it does.
“Shut up.” You’ll warn before he’s even gotten the chance to say anything.
And Joe used to reply with, “I didn’t say anything.”
That has since changed to a very dopey, a very smiley, “Okay.” that makes your nose scrunch.
Joe knows the rule.
Won’t say it until you will, no matter how many times the words will pop into his head and will beg to be released into your ears via his mouth. It’s nothing short of agony, because there’s moments where you’ll look at him like you used to. Before. When he kept his distance and would say the wrong thing, crack an unfunny joke that accidentally hurt your feelings, and – God, if he could just say those words and put your mind at ease the way the so desperately wants to...
He’s found different ways.
Has had to find different ways.
If you can’t hear the words, that’s fine. He’ll make you feel them just the same.
When you get into bed, one night, over at Joe’s place, you suddenly pause, halfway in.
“What?” Joe asks, already sort of smiling at your expression as he slides his legs under the covers on his side of the bed.
“Remember when...” you start, and immediately Joe’s aware that this can go one of two ways. You could either end up a giggling heap underneath the covers, or he’s going to end up kissing you silly to reassure every doubt from your mind.
You glance at one of his wardrobe doors and squint your eyes a little.
Joe’s scared it’s going to be the latter of the two options.
“I’ve actually never seen you wear that shirt again– have you...” you don’t finish whatever you were about to ask, and instead walk around the bed to check something. To see for yourself.
“What shirt?” Joe asks, sat up in bed, both hands in his lap over the covers, tongue pushing into his cheek as he watches you open the wardrobe.
You’re met with a meticulously well-organised row of shirts, jackets– Joe’s even got all of his trousers and jeans folded over hangers. All pressed and ironed, ready to make Joe look far smarter than he’ll feel.
You used to fall for it all the time, but you’ve since learned to see through most of it.
“How often do you get rid of clothes?” you ask, hands filtering through.
“All the time,” Joe says a little sheepishly, and jokingly adds, “You know I really only like... three things.”
Joe watches you filter through hangers at lightning speed, metal wire gliding over the rod and clanging together in your search.
You’re looking for something specific. Unsure of what made the thought pop into your head, you’d just remembered a specific shirt Joe wore once and wanted to see if he still had it. If there was maybe a reason why you hadn’t seen him wear it ever since that one night.
And, morning.
“Hmm... it’s not here.”
“What shirt are you even talking about?”
You throw Joe a look over your shoulder, eyes squinted, and for a moment you look like you’re contemplating something. Like you’re milling something over.
Then, suddenly, Joe gets it. He knows exactly what you’re looking for, and is immediately embarrassed.
“Oh. Yea, no. Do you mean the white– my white button down? I, um… that shirt, it’s… you’re right, it’s not– it’s not there.”
Joe stutters through a bad excuse, and for an actor, he’s a fucking terrible liar. You shove aside some of his jackets, and then…
“Come back to bed, please.”
There it is.
The white button down shirt you were looking for.
You grab the hanger and pull it out, ready to happily show Joe you found it, but as you move the fabric into the light, you notice it.
See it.
“Found i– oh, my God…”
This is the shirt Joe wore to Mark and Poppy’s wedding shower. The one he said he’d get dry cleaned after he wiped your face with the sleeve, after he dabbed both your make-up covered cheeks. The one of which he’d pulled the cuff into his palm to get the fabric real close under your eyes to get rid of the wet mascara that had traveled there through tears.
You’d shown him the brown and black marks right after he’d done it, and he’d said he was going to get it dry-cleaned.
“Joe, what the…”
You’re holding a dirty shirt.
Had this stains not come out?
Clearly not.
You’re both looking at a dirty shirt. At old make-up stains that… well, this shirt is ruined. Your eyes quickly glance at the tag in the collar, and you wince.
That is too expensive of a brand for a shirt to be ruined like this.
This is the reason why you hadn’t seen Joe wear it again.
You’d ruined his shirt.
God, and you had even told him that next day, that next morning, that a regular cycle in a machine wash was going to get the stains out fine.
Obviously, it hadn’t.
Because you’re staring at caked blotches of bronzer and dark streaks of mascara and– ... you can feel how you shrink in on yourself, stood there, in his bedroom, with a stupidly expensive badly stained shirt he’d been hiding from you because he hadn’t been able to get it clean and–
Upon the sight of your face dropping, Joe gets out of bed, careful not to make any sudden movements.
“Um.. I’ll have that.”
Two slow hands come into vision and carefully take the hanger from your grip.
“Thanks.”
The shirt, in all its dirty glory, gets gently put back in its place, hidden behind Joe’s jackets, before Joe closes the wardrobe doors entirely.
“Sorry,” is all you can think to say, voice small, a little wobbly. “I’m sorry, I thought… I ruined your shirt. That should’ve come out in the wash. Sorry. I will– I’ll replace it. I’ll–”
“No you won’t.”
You drop both your shoulders just as Joe grabs hold of both of them. His grip is strong enough to bring you into the room a bit more.
“And don’t look at me like that. I didn’t… that’s… I’ve never washed it.”
What?
“You didn’t ruin the shirt. It’s just unwashed.”
Joe softly chuckles at your face and you get lead back to bed as you try to puzzle together what you’ve just been told. What that even means.
There had been plenty of whispered conversations, late at night chats in the dark, where Joe would reassure you that he had never hated you. The outward dislike had always been an awful way to hide how he really felt, and Joe was going to be kicking himself until the end of time for how that had always make you feel.
Joe is never going to be able to make it right, he thinks.
But he can fucking try.
“That’s…”
“Disgusting? Yes. Absolutely.”
He’ll die trying.
“Why haven’t you…”
You’re scared to finish the question because you fear you already know the answer.
“Didn’t want to. So don’t worry about it.”
You get tucked in as your worries easily get dismissed, but it’s difficult to make your confused frown disappear.
Joe sighs when you keep looking at him like that, sits down on the edge of the bed next to you and goes, “You’ll make fun of me. But... that’s the… that’s what I wore when you slept in my bed for the first time. It’s not ruined. Washing it would ruin it, actually.”
Everything about that is confusing and will take a minute or two for you to process. Now, here, in the moment, it just makes you grimace with horror, and that in and of itself makes Joe laugh. Makes his eyes twinkle as he bites into his lip, head titled back and to the side a little.
He can’t really help it.
“To be fair... you were never meant to find that. Can you not tell Poppy?”
“Okay. I won’t tell Poppy.” You easily agree.
“But you’ll tell Mark?”
“But I’ll tell Mark.”
Joe drops his head forward in a silent laugh. Of course you will tell Mark.
And, that’s fine. Because it’s a memory he’ll cherish forever, even if you were violently drunk that night, and your hair still smelt of vomit even though Mark’s mum had really done her best to rinse most of it out. You had found Joe’s bed on your own, and had pulled him in to nap with you and– ...he doesn’t think that it was the exact moment where things changed a little, but it was a moment momentous enough to want to keep a souvenir.
It’s why he never washed the dirty button down shirt that proved to him he hadn’t dreamt it up.
He’ll never tell you how he also still has the empty yoghurt carton he had found in his kitchen after you’d left the next morning.
And he’ll also ignore the weird fall out you had after when he lied to Poppy about it. That’s not part of the memory.
Only the good stuff.
Like how he’d barely slept at all.
How he’d gotten to stare at you all night long.
How he’d finally, after hours of collecting courage, had softly let one of his fingertips stroke along the skin of your arm.
How that made you hum contently in your sleep.
If he thinks about it for too long, he could easily make himself cry. Looking at you now, all relaxed into the pillows of his bed, he could make himself cry.
When Joe looks at you a little too long without saying anything, dopey grin and all, your frown only deepens.
“Shut up.”
Joe knows it was bound to be said, but it still tickles him and he lets a throaty laugh escape him before he turns faux-serious.
“Ah. It’s made a return.” Joe scans your features and talks like he’s in a film, speaking to a villain. “That face. Are you even aware of how powerful it is? Makes me feel how much my soul wants to escape my body.”
That gets a little grin out of you, and it’s cute enough for Joe to want to tell the whole entire world how much he loves you. He wonders if you know how much it pains him. How often he can feel the scratch of the words in his throat, the violent urge to just let them free ever present.
But he won’t.
You’d just told him to shut up, so he will shut up, and instead will let those three words seep out in other ways. Through his hands that wander up to your neck. Through his fingers that swipe under your jaw, tipping your head back a little so he can easily kiss you.
You happily accept his kisses, because even though you’re still adjusting to all these little changes in your truth, it all ultimately means that Joe really, really likes you.
Really, really, really likes you.
And of course you know it’s more than that to Joe.
And that he really wants to tell you already.
But he’s not allowed.
Not yet.
Which is fine. He can just kiss you. And he will. Like he’s doing right now.
Joe still can’t quite believe he’s kissing you in his bed, and he can’t believe there was ever a time where he wasn’t.
When he pulls back, still sat on the side instead of under the covers with you, he hovers over you a little. Gives you a quiet moment, just in case you want to tell him.
And you will.
With time.
But not now.
“Shut up.” you repeat, giggling now at how lovesick he looks, and Joe can’t help grin in the way that he does.
He used to reply with, “I didn’t say anything.”
Instead he says, “Okay.” and goes for another kiss when he sees your nose scrunch.
Joe knows the rule.
Won’t say it until you will.

Hii! I really love your stanford!dean drabbles, soooo may I request a stanford dean fic with a shy!reader?? (kinda like nerd x jock dynamic) in which dean is trying to pursue reader but reader isn't sure if he really means it bc of his personality (mostly bc he is really flirty) and all with a bit of angst but also a lot fluff ofc (sorry if it's a bit cliche I'm a whore for this trope😭😭😭)
Btw hbd!!!!💝💝💝
thank u for the happy bday omfg 😭 it's still two months away unfortunately. LMAOFIDKDJ BUT I AM PUTTING THIS IN MY BACK POCKET TO REMEMBER THAT DAY !!!
anyways ahem let me lock in.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/bb7edced2b98b2ddc6540228147b08f5/6117bb455991a607-d0/s540x810/619f8a620e9b9c75984117c9ccea66e07453f5ff.webp)
it's not that dean didn't have game, it seemed to be that dean had too much game. you didn't like when he leaned against the doorframe you were in, posing in that way that girls liked; ankles crossed, arms crossed, head tilted down to look at you. you didn't like the arm stretch pose over the top of the doorframe either. if he wasn't so attuned to how your face lit up in a blush when he was around, he would have been convinced that you just hated doors or something.
but no, you could talk to your friends just fine, it was just─ him. which is a hard pill to swallow in of itself, but some truths just couldn't be changed.
he'd make effort too, you know. really, desperately, lay it on thick to play the nice guy, the boy next door you seemed to want. it was hard, since that was the role he'd worked so damn hard to break out of, but he'd do it. there was something about the chase that had him coming back to you, even though the game wasn't nearly as fun for you.
dean didn't think, really, was the main point. didn't think about how intense this must have been for you, didn't think about the possibility of you just ─ not liking him back? didn't think at all.
he's outside your dorm to walk you to class. a habit for him, and an irritation for you. you never could get yourself to argue with him about it, though, the words always lodged in your throat. how did you, politely, tell a football guy to get fucked? he'd take it some other way. you knew football guys, and specifically, knew this one.
dean snatches your backpack from your arms before you can shrug it on, carrying it in front of him like a little purse. maybe, you kept him around for that, too. schoolbooks were heavy, okay?
but it's the little twitch in his mouth that seems to break you. "can you just... find someone else already?" you've come to know that smile as his only preliminary warning before he says something that burns your cheeks red and almost makes you believe that this pursuit is genuine, and not just to get in your pants.
dangerous smile. those dimples could just about make anyone's panties drop ─ you'd know, you were a self proclaimed part of that statistic.
dean actually looks taken aback, slowing his steps, and you'd almost feel relieved if you didn't feel so sick that you'd hurt his feelings. and, he had your backpack, so now it was awkward. now you'd have to snatch it back before you could scramble away.
"find someone else?"
in his head, he was breaking down your walls. slowly, but surely. and here was this painstaking reminder that every wall he broke was just replaced by another.
you stare at him for a long few seconds, the halls of your building thankfully empty, except for the two of you and every question hanging in the balance.
"i don't want someone else, sweet girl," he says, his face contorted in a wince like he actually was hurt by the suggestion at all. you recoil, too, but you don't back down. quiet as hell but a viper when you had to be. backed into this conversational corner, you had to be. "hell, you think i've been chasin' you around this whole damn campus because i'm waitin' to get bored of it and start somewhere else?"
he acts like it's an unreasonable suggestion. boys like him didn't go for the girls in the bleachers. boys like him liked short skirts and pom poms. at least, that's what the movies taught you. what was he going to do next, take off your glasses and tell you that you really were beautiful, who would have guessed?
when you don't answer, dean seems to shrink back a little. he shrugs his shoulders to adjust his backpack on his back, and yours that, at some point in these ticking minutes, he had slipped on his front. "believe me, honey, this is torturous for me, too."
"torturous?" you shake your head, internally wincing at how, of all of what he said, that was the thing you latched onto. "so go find─"
"someone else. i heard you the first time." dean shakes his head, clicking his tongue after another strenuous break of silence. "it's torturous," he says slower now, like you're the one who needs to be talked in gentle words to, not him, who's seen more concussions than he's seen his family, "because you are a breath away, and yet you are so damned determined to keep that breath between us. because you seem so weary, and strung up, like at any moment, i'm gonna pull the rug away and tell you that this was some joke, and you're gonna fall on your ass and feel awful."
well. it's not like he was wrong. but now the embarrassment is worn so prominently in the pink of your face, and those awful feelings he brought up are right there, if only because you'd been so convinced that he was a terrible guy without having any sort of evidence to back it up.
dean takes a step forward, not like approaching a wounded animal but rather like he's approaching a feral beast determined to snap at his fingers. "all i want," he breathes, shaking his head, palms up in some miniscule effort of surrender, "is to buy you a coffee."
"coffee," you echo back to him. you can't help it. you glance at his double backpack situation and you have to press your mouth together to keep from laughing. maybe dean wasn't lying about this, or everything else. would someone really willingly make themselves look so silly just to keep up a ruse?
dean nods. "coffee," he says, and he notices, of course he notices, that dazzling smile of yours. he's a strong man, but he can be made into something so weak with nothing but a pair of lips and glimmering eyes. "coffee yes?"
"you have class in ten minutes."
a shrug. two backpacks lift and fall. "conveniently, i've forgotten for the next forty five minutes about that class. whoops."
you have to look away. his eyes are so earnest and he is so surprisingly silly when he's not spouting cheesy pickup lines and doing stupid poses in doorframes that you almost cannot handle to face the full onslaught of his expression. again, he asks, "coffee yes?"
you huff out a laugh. what did you have to lose, really? you'd been planning to drown in classwork for a while at the library. coffee would definitely be needed to survive that.
with an exaggerated sigh, you manage to stutter out a, "coffee yes," if only so you could see that smile on his mouth again. you were weak, too, in that regard.
and so you got coffee with the football boy, and again the next day, and suddenly it wasn't such a scary thought to hold the football boy's hand.

Spencer handed you a cup of tea, sitting down beside you in the hospital waiting room, the rest of the team milling around, waiting for news on Penelope’s surgery. You hadn’t said a word about what happened, the team relying on a police officer and a paramedic’s account while you sat there in catatonic shock, blood staining your white shirt, your hoodie doing more work in hiding it. You could still feel the blood on your hands, stained from pressing down on Penelope’s gunshot wound.
Spencer didn’t know what to do or say, just pressing the warm beverage into your hands, Emily and JJ murmuring in the corner.
“Has anyone told Morgan yet?”
“He isn’t answering the phone.”
“Is she?”
“Still in shock. Hasn’t said a word.”
“And Penelope?”
“All we know is a gunshot wound to the chest, and that they’re operating now.”
Spencer’s eyes are still on you, a shell of yourself, unable to reconcile the person he sees with the person he knows. He knows you deal with threats far greater than the ones they do — they’ve just come back from arresting a cannibal, you prevent military secrets getting out and uncover espionage attempts. But it’s from the safety of a digital interface, the day to day of it so mundane that it makes him want to pull his eyeballs out. Your job doesn’t get you shot. Technically, Penelope’s job shouldn’t have gotten her shot either.
No-one was paying attention to him, or to you, which is why he’s on his knees in front of you, aligning his gaze with yours, and does one of the few things he knows how to do; explaining. He put the tea down on the floor, taking hold of your hands, your eyes distant, your fingers cold. If he couldn’t do anything for Penelope, maybe there was something he could do for you.
“When the brain experiences trauma it has an affect on the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system.” He said the words quietly, a distraction technique to bring your focus to something, even if it was nothing. “The physiological response is a fight or flight response. When your brain is unable to process the situation, it freezes in an effort to protect your mind and body. You might feel numb, or cry, or rage. You might just sit there, emotionally unable to move. You might dissociate, and feel like nothing around you is real, or that it‘s actually happening to someone else.” He squeezed your hands, hoping for a response. It felt like you weren’t even there.
“I can’t imagine how scared you must be, and I’m not going to try and tell you that everything will be okay, because it may not-,” and he hated saying the words, they felt like a lie in his mouth, but it was the truth “-but whatever happens next, I am here. I won’t leave, not unless you ask me to.”
“I can’t lose her,” you whispered. Thank god, Spencer thought as he looked at you again, and while he knew there wasn’t anything he could say that would make it all better, he also knew that the fact that you were finally verbal was probably a positive. You hadn’t said a word in hours.
“I know,” he said quietly. The team still milled around, waiting, the hospital buzzing with activity, but he felt like the words were just his and yours, the intimacy of the two of you cocooned away from the world.
"I don't..." You struggled to get the words out. "She's all I have." He watched as the tears welled in your eyes, watched as they fell down your cheeks. He wanted to reach out, to brush them away, and he hesitated, wondering what he possibly could do to comfort you.
Instead he pulled you towards him, wrapping you in his arms, a hug, and hoped that he wasn’t being too forward, and you crushed yourself against his chest, hugging him back. He ran a hand up and down your back as he held you to him, his cheek against the side of your head.
“I’m sorry,” he whispered, and he didn’t know if he was apologising for Penelope’s injuries, or the fact that he couldn’t save her, or that he hadn’t been there, or because there was nothing he could do to make it better. He was just sorry.
“Are you sure you don’t want me to background check this guy?” you asked, offering Penelope your eyeliner as she finished curling her hair and she rolled her eyes.
“God, you sound like Derek,” she retorted spitefully and you frowned. It was unlike her to be say his name with such anger, when it was usually said with love, fondness, occasional lust, and just in an overall dreamy fashion. A part of you had always wondered if there was more to their relationship than just platonic friendship.
“Alright,” you replied, letting it go. Penelope was a grown woman, she could make her own decisions… and was also equally capable of running a background check as, if not more, thorough as you would have. You tried not to look at the mess that your shared bathroom had turned into, make-up supplied and jewellery scattered over the counter, leaving her to do her thing. “And I better not get a text saying you’re bringing him upstairs,” you called out as you leave.
“This is just wrong,” you murmured, looking at Penelope’s pale, all but lifeless body, tubes running from her nose and arms, wires strapped to her chest, the suite silent but for the steady beep of the heart monitor. You still hadn’t moved from the foot of the bed, willing yourself not to cry. You were not going to be one of those family members who couldn’t get a grip of themselves. You especially refused to become a blubbering mess in front of her co-workers.
“I know,” Spencer said softly, wanting to take your hand again, but holding himself back. He still never knew where he stood with you. Hell, he didn’t know how to process what was going on for him — the only thing he knew he had to do was stabilise you, never mind himself.
You finally manage to put one step in front of the other, going towards Penelope and Spencer could see your hand shaking as you gingerly took hers, the way you blinked back tears, almost refusing to breathe because you were convinced the only thing that would come out would be a sob. Spencer swallowed, moving to draw the curtains over the windows, closing the doors so it was only the three of you in the room, and kept his back turned as you finally gave in to the squeezing grip your lungs had on your heart, sinking into the chair as you cried, gripping the hand that wouldn’t squeeze back.
You started awake when you felt a large hand on your shoulder, shaking you gently, and it’s Aaron standing over you. “Sorry,” you mustered, wiping away dried tear tracks and he simply pulled up a chair beside you.
“I know it’s been a long night,” he said softly, leaning on his knees, looking at you kindly. “But we need your help.” He watches you nod, taking in a deep breath.
“Anything,” you said, a lot calmer now.
“We need to get some kind of identification on this guy,” Aaron told you, his voice measured and even and a part of you was jealous you couldn’t be as calm as he was, and partly angry that he could be this calm with Penelope this way.
“She said his name was Colby,” you said, remembering the joke you had made when she told you.
“Like the cheese?” you asked, raising an eyebrow skeptically and she scoffed.
“Do not ruin this for me,” she retorted, pointing her laptop charger at you like a wand. “He’s cute and he actually likes me. Do you even remember the last time I’ve been asked out?”
“That doesn’t mean you should go out with anyone who asks,” you replied. “I mean, what kind of person doesn’t turn on auto-save?” It earns you a glare from her and you quieten, turning back to your book.
You shook your head, trying to focus on your screen, set up right beside Penelope, refusing to leave her side even as she slept, and neither did Derek or Spencer, the former practically breathing down your neck. You glanced up at Spencer, a plea in your eyes to get him off your back, and he makes a pitiful attempt of asking Derek if he wants to go get a coffee with him, which he denies and so Spencer shrugged, so you let out a breath, focusing on what you were doing.
“There’s nothing on a James Colby Baylor,” you said, sounding tired, running a hand through your hair, then settling it back on your keyboard.
“If he knew Penelope was FBI, then maybe he used a pseudonym,” Spencer offered, his hands in his pockets, standing across from you. “Try using the same combination of letters, JCB.”
“I’m gonna need more parameters than just three letters,” you retorted, looking up at him.
“Check anyone who rented a white sedan in the last 24 hours,” Derek said, still leaning over you and you desperately wanted to hit the both of them. Repeatedly. Instead, you check car rentals across the city matching the description, matching the restaurant that they had gone to, adding your facial recognition program to look for blonde men with blue eyes. “Plus some kind of job in the justice department. Try law enforcement, former military, stuff like that,” Derek added. “He knew enough to use legal terms, but not enough to know city attorneys don’t try criminal cases. Law school dropout, failed the bar exam—”
“Jason Clark Battle,” you told him, pulling up the picture of him and you swallowed. That was him. The guy you’d seen run away from the front of your building after you heard the gunshot. Your hands curled into fists, oblivious to Derek calling Aaron about it, charging out the door. Spencer didn’t particularly want to leave either of you, but he muttered a quick, ‘Be right back’ before disappearing.
You handed Derek a mug of coffee while Penelope slept in her own bed, the door left open in case she needed either of them. He’s set up on your couch, a blanket and pillows, his gun set on the coffee table, a single light left on so he can read the file. “Can’t sleep either, huh?” he asked you and you shrugged, taking a seat on the corner of the coffee table.
“He shot her on the doorstep, Morgan,” you said quietly. “If I hadn’t been at home…”
Morgan placed his hand on your knee, warm and comforting, and even though you had made fun of him being here, calling him Penelope’s ‘guard dog’, deep down, you were glad he was here. “There’s a lot that went wrong that night,” he said smoothly, his voice low. “Don’t eat at yourself worrying about how it could have been worse.”
You huffed a little. “You mean like you’ve been doing?” you asked, looking at him pointedly and he narrowed his eyes at you.
“You sure you aren’t a profiler?” he asked, noticing the slight hint of a smile on your face as you shrug.
“I guess we’re both wired the same way,” you said, instead of the retort you had lined up in your head. “Protecting the people we care about, blaming ourselves when they get hurt.” You glanced at Penelope’s room, her open door. “She’s all I have, Morgan.” And maybe it’s the late night, the anxiety coursing through your body, the thing that makes it impossible to sleep, that starts in your head and works its way to your chest, but you can’t seem to stop yourself. “She’s everything. My emergency contact, my medical proxy… Hell, if I died tomorrow, everything I own goes to her. She’s my family. If I lose her, I have no-one.”
Derek lets a beat pass, watching you, and you can tell he knows something you don’t, because he said, “You have people. Even if you can’t see them.” You frowned a little as he went back to his file, clearly unwilling to say more, and you’ve never been one to push into personal space. Instead, you go back to your room, left with his cryptic words.

your writing of frat luke made me think about frat quinn (which we don't see a lot i feel like)
can you maybe write something about a situationship with him
You nod along to what he’s saying, an easy smile on your face. You like him, he’s easy to talk to, knows exactly what to say at the right time, and wants to know you. He’s exactly the person who you should want.
“So, I just eat shit down this hill as like ten scouts are looking straight at me, I’ve never been so embarrassed.” He laughs, putting his face in his hands, shoulders shaking as he recalls the moment.
Your smile slowly fades as you give him a fake laugh, something you’ve perfected these last few dates.
“This guy puts his stick in front of my legs, and I fall down, y’know, like eat complete shit down to the ice as everyone’s watching me. My coaches, the scouts, my parents, my brothers. I swear if anyone ever finds that clip, I’m retiring and moving to the Galapagos to become a fucking biologist.”
You burst out laughing, head falling back as he watches you with a soft look in his eye. “Oh my God, do you even have a biology degree?”
“Nope, I quit college in my second year and was a Sports Management major. I would be fired on my first day, I think.” He admitted, rubbing the back of his neck with his free hand. The other one was gently holding your waist, with your bodies facing each other and your faces closer than ever.
“Aw, well it’s a good thing you’re making it big now, huh?” You mumble, looking down at his lips. You’re not being subtle, giving him hints about what you want for about an hour now. “Quinn, can we go back to your place?”
“Yeah? You wanna go back to mine?”
Nodding, you lean forward enough that your breathing lands directly on his lips. “Yeah.”
He breaks the distance, hands now going to cradle each side of your face. Your lips meet for the first time, immediately tasting the beer he’d been drinking. Putting your fingers in his belt loops, you pull him even closer, if that was even possible. Your tongues brush against each other as you both fight to lead. It’s messy, passionate, euphoric, and you don’t know if any other man could kiss you like Quinn Hughes.
“Are you listening? Hello?” He snaps his fingers in front of your face, breaking you out of the memory.
“Yeah, sorry, your story just reminded me of something someone told me.” You grimaced, looking down to fiddle with your rings.
“How about we cut this date short and just go right to the good stuff, huh?”
His words send a cold chill through you, instantly waking you up from whatever trance you were in. “Sorry?”
“What, you don’t want to fuck me, baby?”
“Not really, no. I’m just going to go now, if that’s okay?” Without waiting for his answer, you grab your jacket and your bag. You can hear him calling after you as you walk towards the exit. Once you’re out in the cold Vancouver weather, you finally breathe out a sigh of relief.
Fumbling with your bag, you take your phone out and open up your contact list. You stop at ‘H’, thumb moving around in circles before you just click on it.
It rings three times before you finally hear his voice.
“Hello?” Quinn asks, his voice voicing his confusion as to why you were calling him during your date. “Y/N?”
Your mouth opens and closes a few times as you try to gather your thoughts, before you close your eyes and let it out. “Can you pick me up?”
“Yeah, yeah. You’re still sharing your location with me right?”
“Yeah, you should see me right away,” you hear him shuffling around, presumably getting up and grabbing his keys. “He really sucked.”
“Did he?” Quinn hums, something about his tone tells you that he knew it all along. “Baby, I told you that you’re better off with me.”
“I know, I know.” You absentmindedly kick a rock into the road. “I just thought our… arrangement wasn’t working anymore. Didn’t wanna get too emotionally involved with you.”
He chuckles under his breath, “yeah, well, it’s already too late for that. Here you are calling me to rescue you from your date.”
“Shut up. I was wrong.” You concede, rolling your eyes in the process. “What’s your ETA?”
“Hm, 5 minutes I think. Should be there soon, traffic isn't bad.” He estimates it's quiet for a second before he speaks again. “Mine or yours?”
“Yours, definitely yours.”
You aren’t talking about who’s place you’re staying at tonight.

Love and Lies
satoru gojo x reader
cw: drunk confessions, angst(?)
“how many times are you gonna do this, hm?” gojo grunts, carrying dragging a drunk you back to your place.
you mutter something inaudibly, gojo paying no mind to it as he focuses on getting you safely home.
“no.”
“no?” he turns to you confused.
“i dun wann go home..too lonely.”
gojo’s gaze softens, although his playful smirk still appears.
“pffft, you just wanna be in my sheets.”
he winces as you hit his head hard, “ow! i didn’t mean it like that, baby! i know you love my soft, $700 king sized bed.”
“you’re stupid..”
“i’m already helping your drunk ass yet you still bully me? ugh, you wound me.” gojo chuckles, putting his hand on his heart as he gasps dramatically.
after an uncomfortable length of silence and carrying you home, you spoke up.
“‘m sorry..”
gojo raises his eyebrow, “i know you are. you don’t think straight when you’re drunk, it’s okay.”
“i just.. haven’t been feeling well lately”
“…so you think drowning yourself in alcohol would make things better?” he sighs. “you’re lucky i’m here to take care of ya.”
you sigh guiltily, knowing he’s right. “yeah..”
when you get to his apartment, you immediately flop onto his bed—no hesitation, no questions asked.
gojo smiles as he gazes at you softly.
“alright, pretty girl. let’s get you comfy.”
he sits you up under the blanket, taking note of you tear stained cheeks.
“baby, what’s wrong?” he says as he wipes your tears away.
“i just- i don’t know what to do, satoru..” you sniffle.
“what do you mean you don’t know what to do?” he asks with a gentle tone, “you could start by taking more care of yourself. you don’t need to drink away your problems. not when i’m here at least.”
you wipe your tears aggressively, words caught up in your throat. “how can i do that when all my problems root from the people i can talk to?”
he pauses. his eyebrows furrow with concern, gently rubbing your arms as comfort.
“you’re.. afraid to talk about how you feel, huh?” you nod. he knows that feeling all too well. he’s given his all to protect you, that he forgot about this aspect of your well-being.
“hey, it’s okay!” he desperately tries to sound optimistic. “you don’t have to feel pressured, but you know you can always talk to me, right?”
a frown casts upon your face, “not when it’s about you.”
what?
panic stirs within gojo. what had he done for you to resort to alcohol? did he do something to greatly offend you? he knows he annoys you too much, but that’s just because you’re his best friend!
“what.. did i do something?”
when you don’t reply, your eyes half lidded and posture hunched over, gojo thinks he’s done the unspeakable. the kind of action that could make you write a whole book about it.
“..i like you.” your face lights up with sadness, a look clinging onto a thread of desperation.
a shiver ran down gojo’s soul. how could this happen? not even his six eyes could predict this.
you take gojo’s silence as an unspoken rejection, the disbelief in his eyes saying everything. “i’m sorry,”
gojo’s expression softens, taking a moment to gather his thoughts and slightly pulling his comforting hands away from your arms.
“hey, don’t apologise. there’s nothing to be sorry about, you just.. took me by surprise, that’s all.”
you look up at him, eyes glistening with tears.
“you.. what do you feel?”
he sighs, a mixture of longing and contemplation cast upon his face.
“i don’t know. i care about you, a lot more than i care to admit.” he chuckles, “you’re my best friend but i.. i haven’t really allowed myself to consider anything more than that.”
oh.
that was the cherry on top.
he panics, scrambling to find the words to ensure things don’t stay awkward between you two.
“look, it’s not that i haven’t thought about it before. you know, the possibility of us being more than friends” he gulps. “i just don’t want to ruin everything we have and what we’ve been through together.”
your heart aches, you can’t help but look away from the man you love.
“but you won’t.. how would you?”
“I don’t know,” he admits honestly. “i guess.. i’m just afraid that if things go wrong between us, it would change what we have now. i don’t want to risk losing our friendship if things don’t work out romantically.”
he has a point, but what good does it cause you? pining over your best friend, only to hear that he feels the same way but also doesn’t because he’s too stuck over your friendship? it’s all too complicated for your intoxicated mind.
“but… i also can’t ignore what you just said,” he says, looking into your eyes. “you said you like me, i.. i can’t just disregard that. it’s just a lot to process, especially in your current state. i want to be sure you really mean what you said.”
you choke on your silent sobs, muttering out a soft “i do mean it..”
“i believe you..” he says, his voice filled with a touch of vulnerability. “but… let’s talk about this more when you’re sober, okay? i don’t want us making any rash decisions and conversations right now, not when we’re both this emotional and vulnerable.”
you nod apprehensively, allowing yourself to sink into the comfy bed sheets.
“we’ll talk more in the morning, okay? i’ll be here when you wake up.”
and just like that, the door closes and all that fills the air is tension and unspoken truths.
