I think that not seeing the differences also makes it harder to talk to people of differing opinions to yours and potentially change their minds. I grew up conservative in the Obama years, and didn't think of myself as racist and didn't explicitly hate people of other races (yes implicit racism is a thing, but that's a different topic). If someone called me a white nationalist or a fascist because I was a conservative, I would simply think "oh, they don't know what they're talking about" and not take them seriously. I changed my beliefs because of long conversations with friends that took me seriously and worked to understand what my beliefs actually were - as well as a few online posts and books that constructed actual arguments against conservative beliefs instead of just calling said beliefs a pejorative.
Also, not seeing the differences in belief makes it difficult to see where people of differing opinions from you might be similar. As I said, I grew up conservative, but then I had a brief libertarian phase around my freshman year of college. I'm now an anarchist, and I think that falling in that particular flavor of leftism has a lot to do with my deeply held belief in small government - I don't think that I could be a capital-C Communist because of it. To me, the key thing to get libertarians to adopt an anarchist perspective (even if they would never call themselves anarchists) is to say, "well yeah the government should fuck off but shouldn't we help one another?" Particularly if they're Christian they are probably already familiar with ministries engaging in mutual aid (along with a whole lot of charity ministry). I have a much easier time talking to libertarians about my political views than I do talking to MAGA conservatives (who I generally avoid because I honestly don't know how to talk to). But if I saw all people who aren't leftists as the same, then it would be much more difficult for me both to get people to start building an anarchist world (regardless of label), and more difficult for me to interact with people in my life that have different views.
I think that one of the most common and most harmful tendencies which a lot of people fall into when thinking about politics is outgroup homogeneity, the idea that there's a much wider diversity of opinions among those close to our beliefs than there is among those far from our beliefs.
This is most commonly exemplified by the foolishness of "horseshoe theory," which places Centrist Liberal Democracy in the middle of all political thought and then argues that the various ideas diverging from this viewpoint are all basically the same. But virtually every ideological tendency has their own versions of this. Large portions of the right think that there's practically no difference between Hillary Clinton and Karl Marx. Meanwhile, on the left, there's often very little effort made to distinguish center-right liberal democrats, conservatives, libertarians, and reactionaries from one another.
But fascism is not communism, social liberalism is not Marxism, and conservatism is not white nationalism. These are all different ideas with different ways of viewing the world, offering different solutions for different problems. Being able to distinguish between them is very important for understanding the world! The conflicts, tensions, and overlaps between seemingly-allied ideological factions have huge implications!
I've always found a lot of value in the idea of an ideological Turing test: can you describe a given political ideology's viewpoint on an issue in such a way that a neutral observer would have trouble telling the difference between your description and one offered by an actual believer in that ideology? If not, you might not understand that ideology as well as you think

hey this is so random but idk if yk the nakay girl on tiktok but she’s met the team a good amount of times and she just posting a video kinda saying she doesn’t really believe in pazzi.
what’s your opinion on that? she’s quite young so idk hahaha
This is a good opportunity to share my thoughts on this.
It is true that they do a lot of things that female best friends do with each other. They’ve also always called each other best friend, etc. so I can understand why a lot of people, especially if they’re not deeply into the lore, may truly think they’re just BFFs. That being said, there’s a very big difference between being unsure/not caring and being a denier. I don’t have an issue with people not being convinced they’re together, if anything I respect it because they’re just waiting for hard evidence. I do, however, have issues with deniers for multiple reasons:
1. It usually comes from a place of heteronormativity and or homophobia.
There’s a lot of people that see being straight as a must have in the mold of the perfect role model and I believe that is applied to Paige especially. Straight men also think this way but from a different perspective. Rather than being worried about them being role models, they’re in denial that P and A aren’t for them. Azzi also gets it because she’s conventionally feminine and a lot of ignorant people think that to be gay as a woman you have to be masculine.
2. It comes from a place of wanting to come of as morally above others.
This is what I think that chick is doing. I’ve never liked her, I think she has a weird parasocial situation going on to the point that she’s developed a weird sense of ownership. This girl knows them just as much as the rest of us do. She’s only met them in public, organized events that of course would not have any outwardly Pazzi situation happening. Literally two videos after that one she’s in literal tears over the game. Of course we all felt it, but to actually cry and film it? Be fr.
Lastly, and sorry if this is rude, but A LOT of these people are literal children. Even some of you on here I can tell are kids/teenagers. That age group knows nothing about reading romantic social cues especially when there’s gay undertones involved. They’ve also never been in relationships. It’s the same reason why they make entire love edits out of P & A looking at each other for 2 seconds and caption it as the most romantic thing they’ve ever seen.
All I’m going to say is that if P or A did exactly what they do with each other with a dude, absolutely no one would question that that dude was their bf. So in conclusion, we will see in 3 months (hopefully) who gets the last laugh 😭💀

Heyyy. so as kindly as possible, I’d like to say please don’t treat me or interact with me like I’m an influencer.
It makes me uncomfortable. I’m not selling you anything, I’m not getting paid, I’m not influencing you to do anything. I’m literally Just Here doing my thing and it just gives me an odd feeling to be treated as if I’m anyone other than just another person in fandom or held to a different standard or to think DMs or things that are literally just me not my work are going to be shown off or shared.
No ill feelings at all, I love you all and I understand I’m in a position and fandom climate where it’s not just my work that’s often elevated but the lines blur and it becomes me as the one who wrote it.
Go crazy about my work or my writing. But not ME as a person if that makes sense?? Because as much as i try to always show kindness, respect, appreciation and support for you guys, i am also just 22, man I’m a RECEPTIONIST who happens to write fanfic. Not someone qualified to influence you. And it feels like a big responsibility to always be aware of everything I do in case people are watching and putting me on a pedestal.
I know I have lots of opinions and a pretty active online presence, but that’s just me talking my shit, like you’re always allowed to disagree with me or challenge me in a respectful and compassionate way.
All love and I’m so appreciative that anyone could think that highly of me but I also do wanna draw a line here. Mwah 🩷🩷
#and GUYS ITS OKAY#no one needs to come in here and apologize#if you have to question if you’ve made me uncomfortable#the answer is most likely no!#as long as you see me as a normal person#and treat me respectfully#you’re good babes don’t stress

Uhm...hello...oh my god, okay, this is my first time doing this so I probably should apologize in advance for I just know this is going to be a big yap session (there'll definitely be a question, trust).
I'm rather new to the KnY fandom so I haven't really completed the manga yet (as in, analyzed it) although I've gotten all the Spoilers I could get. I've read the light novels to an extent, too)
Sanemi really became my favourite character although it was a connection I couldn't really explain or express since he unfortunately remains one of the most hated characters in DS, and yes I began shipping Giyuu x Sanemi even though many people seem to think that's weird and came out of the blue.
A Pinterest pin with a link to your page; a post where you had a theory that Sanemi had some form of anxiety...and boy am I grateful to the person who made that post, I've been hooked to your blog ever since.
So, uhm, first of all let me just say that I love all your writings. They're convincing, elaborate, and the amount of research you've put into them is mind blowing! The Obanai analysis, the fandom discourse, to name a few, are some of my favourites. I've only read a few, so you might've already made a post answering a question similar to this, but uh...lemme ignore that. Okay, that's enough...onto the questions.
I wanted to ask you about Giyuu and Sanemi's relationship. One thing critics love to say is that their relationship would be "toxic." (That Giyuu's uncommunicative ways will be irritating and unbearable for Sanemi and since he's shown to be rather impatient, he'd lash out and Giyuu will only become even more quiet.) I genuinely want to know what you'd have to say about this. I can already tell you're an unapologetic GiyuuSane shipper, so I wanna know, as I don't know much about their relationship myself, but found that I adored the ship so much it became too much to bear.
Another thing is about Demon Slayer itself. I'm almost very sure that you are aware of how many people criticize the show. I've fallen in love with KnY and I genuinely want to understand why it's hated so much. So far I've been hearing that KnY is badly, poorly written; it has one-dimensional/ one-sided characters, sucks at world-building, is inconsistent, overrated, mid, cliché, unoriginal and what not. I've seen somebody make a freaking hour-long YouTube video on why DS is that bad. (I'm unsure if you've seen it, though.) Some people say there's way too much plot armour and the villains got nerfed, that Douma vs Shinobu fight was just the author rushing things; apparently the ending was rushed too. Its pacing was "horrible" the backstory dumping and the endless monologue is annoying to them, and "the only personality the characters ever have is their backstory." Someone even commented "the characters are basically caricatures with catchphrases."
I've heard that Obanai's character is boring, inconsistent and lacked development (that his character can literally be summed to "I hate all women except Mitsuri"), that Zenitsu is annoying, terribly written and is wasted potential, that Kanao is a typical Y/N character and that the Kamado siblings are nothing special, and are extremely generic and boring (especially Nezuko, she seemingly has zero personality.) Idk much, but there are some posts on Pinterest saying that all the canon ships except the Uzuis have poor writing. Even Giyuu seems to be a "Wattpad mafia lord who acts like he's carrying too much pain." Basically they're saying the characters are one-sided, lacking in development, mid, the villains are auraless, the anime is cliché and has nothing unique to it, and the only thing that carries KnY is Ufotable's animation.
Now the reason I'm writing to you is because I really, really want to know what your opinion on this is. I mostly think perspectives differ based on how people define "good" or "bad" writing, everyone has varied views; however as much as I want to defend an anime I've surprisingly grown embarrassingly attached too, I think you're better qualified. It hurts when people attack something that's close to your heart, even if it is just a bunch of pixels. I'm probably stupid to get affected by mere criticisms of a damn ANIME this much, but unfortunately this doesn't seem like something I can control. I am a deranged, cowardly escapist so I didn't even watch the criticisms properly but got the gist of it.
Uhm...yeah, I'm very sorry if I sound demanding, you can take your time, it doesn't matter how long it takes to reply (it's okay if you don't even want to reply, needed to get this off my chest to someone somehow), please don't stress yourself out, I've seen all the amazing titles you're preparing for, wish you luck.
(Okay I'll stop now. Sorry.)
Hey Anon,
I hope you're doing well.
Not gonna lie your ask made me tear up a bit especially towards the end of it because I get you, I get you so, so fucking much. Being a Demon Slayer fan, specifically an English-speaking Demon Slayer fan, is tough. It's like everywhere you look, all you see is negativity towards the series. At some point, you start to feel like you're the only one, you start to doubt yourself and feel, just as you described, crazy and deranged for getting so emotionally attached to such a'mid' anime series.
But lemme tell you this. Fuck those guys. Never be embarrassed for getting emotionally attached to a piece of media, that's what makes you human, it means that you have the time to critically assess and think about what you watch instead of just consuming it mindlessly. Creators LOVE people like you, and I'm absolutely sure that Gotogue-sensei would be touched that her work means so much to you. It's better to be attached or be a stan of something than to be a mindless bot wading through life with no passion for anything.
And I'm not just saying this because I'm also a deranged fan. This applies to any piece of media or any anime series. You know your heart, you know what you've been through in life, you know how life especially in this century is so fucking hard where it seems like everything is trying to crush you, where it feels like you're constantly trying to keep your head afloat in a vast ocean of despair being weighed down by, well, everything and if you find that one life raft that keeps you above the surface, that one thing that allows you to keep on going, that one ray of sunshine that makes you think hey maybe the world isn't so bad, as long as you’re in your lane, just enjoying KnY and engaging with the fandom in a positive way then who the FUCK are those barely sentient pieces of shit to take it away from you?
So with that being said, let's explore your concerns
SaneGiyuu is toxic
I feel the reason people think it’s a toxic ship is because a huge chunk of the fandom tends to infantilize Giyuu and vilify Sanemi. Which is a side effect of the lack of media literacy and shallowness that a lot of people possess.
Giyuu is always made out to be this soft, quiet, uwu-baby boy who is in need of protection because he's constantly bullied by the big, scary meanies like Sanemi and Obanai. Which people with working brains will know is far from the truth; Sanemi and Obanai talk shit about him yes, but if talking shit about someone constitutes as bullying then we’re all bullies and I bully my former boss.
Sanemi on the other hand is always made out to be either this irredeemable monster or this dominant, feral, 'hide-your-daughters' type man who's always alpha and on top, grrrrrr, he's both demonized and sexualized by a lot of fans. So with this mischaracterization of both characters, it's no wonder that people will see SaneGiyuu and come to the conclusion that it’s toxic because all they see is this soft, baby-uwu angel being paired up with this rabid monster. They want Sanemi and Giyuu to be Izuku and Bakugou from MHA so badly, which is just dumb. The other detractors of this ship usually lack the ability to recognize subtext or are just plain homophobic, thinking that the ship interferes with their fantasies.
Here’s a list of some posts I’ve made refuting these claims, but also exploring their dynamics. Just like you, this ship is really important to me because of it’s underlying themes of found family, trauma, miscommunication, isolation. And just the comfort of finding someone who has been through the same things you’ve been through and understands your pain.
The Anime is mid
Since you're new to the fandom it’s no surprise that the 'Demon Slayer is mid' comments would get to you, they used to get to me too. Long time fans will tell you how they’ve learned to just tune out the nonsense and focus on the fandom. Like yea yea we heard you, demon slayer is only carried by the animation, when you’re tired of complaining you’ll shut up and go back to snorting the Cheetos dust off your keyboard 🙄.
I consider Demon Slayer a litmus test on how people analyze media, especially media that doesn’t have elements that they’re familiar with. See, here’s one thing that a lot of people, even fans of Demon Slayer, don’t get. Demon Slayer is a character driven story—every event or fight is done for the development of the characters in the story. That's why the plot is so simple because it’s not about the plot, it’s about the characters. When people criticize KnY’s plot for being simple, I can’t help but laugh because almost all the greatest stories in humanity have simple plots or some none at all.
Lord of the Rings is about a bunch of dudes who travel to a tower to destroy a ring.
Gladiator is about a fallen general who is out for revenge on the emperor who betrayed him.
The Matrix doesn't even have a proper goal until the third act of the movie.
Harry Potter is about a bunch of kids who want to defeat the wizard that killed Harry's parents.
American Psycho doesn't even have a proper story structure. It's just about a psychotic dude who goes axe-crazy, literally.
The Star Wars franchise is about a bunch of people rebelling against a dictatorship.
Sam Raimi's Spider-Man is about Peter facing the Villain of the week.
So why are these stories so close to our hearts? It’s because of the characters. All this talk about characters being nerfed, fights being boring, plot armor, pacing etc. etc. are all plot-related complaints which don’t apply to the story because it’s all about the characters. Those who say the characters are one-dimensional are just fucking stupid, lazy and shallow-minded. The rest don’t even properly watch the anime or read the manga, they just parrot whatever opinions are popular at the moment.
It also doesn't cater to the western gaze. KnY is completely and unapologetically Japanese, it can’t take place in anywhere but Japan. it’s so rich with Japanese culture, mythologies, folktales, and stories that it’s either you get it, try to get it or you don’t. Even the name 'Kimetsu no Yaiba' directly translates to Blade of Demon Destruction and not just any blade either, Yaiba specifically refers to a Japanese sword. It’s a love letter to Japan that celebrates Japanese culture and values so much that it borders on nationalism 😂. This is foreign to some anime dudebros who are used to anime that either takes place in modern Tokyo, Western-inspired fantasy countries, some version of 'San Fransokyo' or the Edo period.
This especially goes for that arrogant streak of shit who has dryer lint for hair that made the 1hr-long video. I’m sorry, but I’ll be damned before I entertain the opinions of someone who thinks Walter White is a great, complex character. Like bitch, you're not some deep, philosophical critic, you’re just a stupid edgelord who just happened to snare the interest of other stupid edgelords who want to feel like their existence and opinions matter in the grand scheme of things.
Here's a video where the creator refutes that asshole's bullshit criticisms. And here are some other positive and more nuanced analysis videos by people who have actual brains and, y'know, HAVE ACTUALLY WATCHED THE FUCKING ANIME AND READ THE FUCKING MANGA! Here, here, here and here. I'll post them in my pinned post and update when I find more stuff.
So please don't feel sad Anon! Nothing any of these cum-stain-should’ve-beens spew out of the cesspool inside their skulls will change the fact that Demon Slayer is a cultural phenomenon that revitalized the manga and anime industry. It is so popular that even the prime minister of Japan is a fan, that it introduced millions of people to not just anime/manga culture but also Japanese culture, that it revitalized the anime industry. There's also the debate about how it apparently outsold the entire comic book industry in 2020 and university researchers have studied and published analysis pieces on the characters. Not bad for a 'mid' series 😤
I hope I was able to answer your questions, and make you feel better. I'm glad you love my work but most importantly:
FUCK YEA!!! WE GOT ANOTHER GIYUUSANE BELIEVER!!!

Interesting.
My point wasn't that people can't theorize. Bc that is half the fun. The point was there is this rise of bad critiques bc people are only mad bc the story didn't end up the way they wanted it to.
And I know i hate that take on art isn't political.
And I understand the death of the author and all that. And how yes, they are telling us stuff about what they created. So we do know some of their intentions. But just bc we have expectations and know some of their intentions does not mean they can't surprise us. Doesn't mean they can't show us a different route.
And saying I haven't seen good criticism isnt saying there isn't any. I as in myself. I really haven't seen good criticism. Bc most of it falls into what I was saying.
And is that a general assumption, yes. It is. But you are the company you keep. And from what I have seen over the Many years I've been in fandoms most anti tags or the critical tag are filled with sexist, racist, homophobic, Xenophobic people. Or people that are angry that the show didnt end up the way they wanted it to.
I understand that there are people in the critical tag that do not fall into this group.
But if you belong to a group of friends and everyone is a nazi but you. It is understandable that everyone else would think you're a nazi.
Like seriously. I follow alot of fandoms with lesbians. And women leads. And all that. And that tag is filled with hatred. And I see it with Arcane.
Do i think it's fair good critiques can get lost to that? No. But that doesn't mean that's not people's experience with it. That's my experience with it.
I want you to think about that. Bc i don't know you. From your second post, you seem like you do have good intentions and just a different opinion than me. And that doesn't bother me at all. I would probably really enjoy an actual discussion about the show.
But. My experience with critical tags and anti tags. Are people who hate just to hate. And one decent conversation with someone in that tag will not change my perspective on it.
"Caitlyns redemption arc isn't very good."
Maybe she doesn't have a redemption arc.
May be Arcane isn't about redemption.
May be Arcane is about flawed characters who are neither good nor bad.
May be Arcane is a show that shows us that good people can do horrible things and how our society and the people we have or don't have as support can shape that.
Good people can become horrible. Not because it is innate within them. But because of their life experiences.

As someone who considers Silver to be her favorite Sonic character, I had spent a good while wondering why I keep feeling frustrated with him in the IDW comics as compared to Archie and I think you might had put into words why. His lack of a backbone is kind of weakening him in hindsight. I still like him all around and there are parts of IDW that do justice to his character and even expand on it (I will never not be happy for his journey as a gardener cause that is both in line with his love of nature and very refreshing to see for a male character to have unabashedly, especially someone Silver's age). Though I will disagree with you saying that Archie had NO backbone. He was constantly in conflict with Sonic over finding out who the traitor to the Freedom Fighters that lead to his bleak future is and he consistently makes mistakes that make him come off as cocky and bratty, to the point that Sonic eventually grows to hate Silver and even disregard his warnings when he does discover the actual truth until it's too late (that truth of course being that Sally betrayed everyone unintentionally with her Robotinazation, something no one wants to be true until they have to face it after the fact). Archie Silver is still flawed, but he is closer to his game counterpart more than IDW Silver is, at least in my opinion he is.
Thank you for your sharing your opinion and being very polite about it! To clarify something, I did not mean to say Archie Silver had no backbone. I was using him as a point of comparison because I noticed similarities with IDW, in that he is portrayed as more polite/timid than his game counterpart. I understand your interpretation of my previous post because I didn't get into it for the sake of not getting off topic. In the future, I will avoid making points without providing evidence in order to avoid confusing people or derailing my argument.
What I want to argue here is that I think your point arguing that Archie Silver has a backbone is still compatible with my position of both comic Silvers possessing noticeable character differences from game Silver that share the same problem with Silver being portrayed as polite or timid, just to different degrees.
I absolutely do not want to be unreasonable here! I agree with you that he is more similar to his game counterpart than IDW is and I won't deny the examples you just listed. I hope the examples I bring up can help illuminate my perspective a little bit and why Archie Silver is a bit too similar to IDW Silver for my liking.
Sonic the Hedgehog #195 - Silver tries to politely interject in on the fight, to the point of saying "excuse me" and "ma'am."
I am aware that he stops them all directly after this moment, however, it should not have happened in the first place if Archie Silver was aiming to be like Game Silver.
Sonic the Hedgehog #235 - Silver stammering in front of Sonic and allowing himself to get dragged through the dirt by his quills.
I think it's not in-line with the games for Silver to allow himself to be disrespected like this. If the Rivals games teach us anything, he gives back equal if not more aggressive energy when he perceives that someone is disrespecting him. Silver calling Sonic a jerk is really small potatoes.
If Silver reacts this way to being called crazy, how do you think he would react to being dragged through the mud by his quills? Not well, I can tell you that.
Silver's stammering here is also of note because it communicates that he's intimidated by Sonic when he has no reason to be if this were an accurate portrayal to the games.
Sonic Universe #43 - Silver tries to lie.
In the games, Silver is so honest and sincere when he speaks that it could be attributed to a source of his rudeness. Lying and deception is simply not something he ever considers doing. We've been shown in Rivals 2 quite clearly that Silver is honest to a fault. This panel also shows Silver being polite and timid in his mannerisms.
Silver attempting to lie happens to be a trait that is shared with IDW Silver in the 2022 annual.
Sonic Universe #25 - Another example of Silver not defending himself from being disrespected and using the term "sir."
Silver's childlikeness is emphasized here, as he is put in direct contrast with an elderly character who comes across as an authority figure, one he seemingly accepts and calls "sir" to be polite. This is an example of what I meant in my post when I say that Silver's naivety keeps getting conflated with being childish. He even says "b-but he started it" like a child telling on a sibling to their parents.
I acknowledge there is a tiny moment where Silver speaks passive-aggressively in the second to last panel, but Silver listening to the order of "don't sass your elders" directly afterwards quickly negates this moment.
Another moment from the same issue shows Silver becoming timid and lacking in confidence when faced with six enemies.
This directly contradicts the games where Silver is very confident in his abilities when faced with a horde of enemies. In Colours DS, he shows an eager willingness to fight and gets disappointed when Orbot and Cubot flee instead, which is opposite to how Silver attempts to avoid fighting in Archie.
Now, in the Archie example, Silver gets defeated by the enemies, which indicates that his timidness is because he is outmatched. I would argue that this is still not true to Game Silver. In '06, Silver readily and confidently fights Iblis, despite Iblis coming back time and time again and never truly being defeated.
Another example is when he fights Shadow. Despite losing to Shadow, and being told that it's no use fighting Shadow due to his Chaos Control ability, Silver does not start behaving timidly. He is still as determined as ever.
-
Thank you very much for your ask! I hope the examples provided illustrate why I brought up Archie Silver as an example in my previous post about this topic. I agree with you about gardening being a good recent addition to Silver's character, it's very wholesome to see him indulge in his love for the world around him.

Yeeah my fist impression of there silly guys. The first impression I got was when I saw them
Von Kaiser - No comments. I just love old, military (possibly injured), in good shape men. That is all.
Great Tiger - that funny, but when I see such mockery, he reminds me of that:
I don't see the difference. He's the classmate who has everyone's opinion and influence, that's for sure. And I don't think he finds someone better than himself, so he probably only spends time with himself all the time, or rather with his clones.
Category "Omg, hiii...😍😘" It speaks for itself. These guys are so cute that you wouldn't even think they were boxers. Like, literally-..
Hondo bows during the fight, did not sprinkle threats on Mac, but only said some of his own wisdom and listed a set of sushi😭 Hugger also didn't say almost any threats, but only "I love raw fish" and the fact that he is a lover, not a fighter...What are you doing in the ring then, buddy? You're too sweet to keep it up. Disco kid is a positive guy by himself, and even warns before hitting that he's going to do it now... Damn😔❤️🩹 What a Glass Joe...He's just a good guy. like, 99 losses and 1 win, and this buddy is still in the ring and acting silly, and also this is his performance in the cutscene... it looks like the beginning of a schoolboy's presentation, I'm sorry, he's good, ye. I love them all 💗
Don Flamenco...When I saw him for the first time, I immediately realized that he was a show-off. Perhaps he really has one love in the form of Carmen, but his constant praise from other women interested in him calls all this into question (Well, Carmen herself was noticed with a Macho man, so I don't think they're canon). It bothers me what kind of energy he radiates, so at first glance I was not very enthusiastic about this guy. But I like to draw his silly face, so I don't have a complete aversion to him. ٩̋(๑˃́ꇴ˂̀๑)
Soda P. I'm just stressed out by half-naked people. Man, woman- it doesn't matter, as long as the body is covered with a minimum amount of clothing, it bothers me. Of course, it's a sin not to brag about such a body, but I like it better this way.
Macho man is an interesting character in himself, but his aggressive display unsettles me, so yes... mhe, sorry not sorry
Aran Ryan - Cool person. But if I were in Mac's place, I would have shit myself a few times. This Irishman is crazy in the ring and clearly bullying in everyday life. But that's why I love and fear this asshole.💓😏
Bald bull and King Hippo scare with their non-human behavior. Bald bull clearly has a problem, and hippo, he is..I don't understand what he is. Like, damn, bull, stop banging your head against everything and chasing the referee around the ring, it's weird.
And, Mr. Sandman, he behaves like that success-obsessed athlete. These guys can sometimes go to great lengths. And he smashed the damn building down with his fists, wow, that's fucking awesome, wtf dude, chill bitte

I CAN SEE THE END AS IT BEGINS.
when zaya decides to spend her vacation in Davos to escape from reality, but ends up crossing paths with Nico Hischier, who has the same goal. pt. 2, pt. 3, pt. 4.
pairing: nico hischier x reader
warnings: none <3
With the end of the university period, the first thing that crossed your mind was: vacation. A well-deserved vacation. Spending the summer in Davos to escape the chaos of the big city and the problems that insisted on following you was everything you could ask for if a genie in a bottle asked. You just wanted tranquility, hikes through the Alps, and time to reorganize your mind. Thus, you decided to embark on the trip alone, without any friends. It had been a while since you decided to be more independent, considering you had spent your whole life under the watchful eye of your parents or even relying on the opinions of your friends, no matter how cool they were.
It was through this decision that you found yourself in a small town in Switzerland. A cold place, with no familiar faces bringing past problems, and the best part: no academic activities.
Everything seemed perfect: your cappuccino at the perfect temperature, your gloves finally warming your hands, an amazing book on the table (an autobiography of your favorite artist about how to deal with adult life without going crazy). The snow falling and contrasting with the sun made everything even more fantastic.
Until your attention, focused on the tranquility of the trip, shifted to the man who had just entered.
Nico Hischier — a face you recognized from one of the sports tabloids your dad watched, but who seemed much more human under the soft light of the Swiss summer. You took another sip of your cappuccino, observing the harmony of his face. Usually, you didn’t tend to observe people like that, especially men.
Given your history, you couldn’t say you had made the most of your adolescence or even the early years of university, having only gone out with one person. It didn’t last as long as you would have liked, but two years were enough for you to understand that sometimes, trusting destiny is the best way to avoid problems for yourself.
Nico was also wearing gloves like you, a very thick navy blue jacket, and a black beanie, which matched his rosy skin tone — probably due to the cold.
He discreetly made his order and then seemed to bend down to pick up a thin rectangular piece of paper. Looking around the café and noticing that, among the few people, you were the only one with a book on the table, he quickly assumed it was yours, walking over to you.
“I think this is yours.” he handed you the flowery bookmark, making you look up, somewhat surprised.
“Oh, thank you. I'm not usually this clumsy."
“Well, at least you didn’t spill the coffee too. That would’ve been a complete disaster.” His comment brought a small smile to your lips.
“Considering my luck, it’s a very likely scenario.” you crossed your legs. He glanced briefly at the book’s cover, seemingly trying to remember something.
“This book is my sister’s favorite. She’s obsessed with this artist." he said, stuffing his hands in his jacket pockets.
“Really? She’s amazing. At first, I didn’t think much of it, but she’s extremely intense.”
“My sister said something like that too. Something about how she talks about life’s flaws being different. More real. Is it really that interesting?” You were genuinely impressed by the genuine interest.
Honestly, you didn’t hate men. But seeing one interested in an artist’s autobiography was surprising. They do say that men with sisters have a real heart.
“Definitely! She doesn’t try to seem perfect. It feels like you’re on a therapist’s couch hearing the best life advice.”
“That sounds like something that keeps you hooked. My sister even tried to convince me to read it so she would have someone to talk about it with, but honestly, I didn’t make it past the cover.” He said, and you quickly looked at the book cover. It was half of the woman’s face, with her blue eyes staring at the reader. Honestly, it didn’t look that attractive.
“Well, if you change your mind, I can lend it to you once I’m done.”
“I’ll consider it. She will be thrilled; I think she’d kiss your feet for convincing me.”
“If that happens, we could start a book club to discuss it.” you said, with a complete sense of humor.
He laughs in response, and you can’t help but notice how his eyes also close.
“Deal. Just don’t let the bookmark fall again. Maybe I won’t be quick enough to save you.”
Maybe? So he’s from here? — you thought.
His name is called by the barista at the counter. He quickly waves goodbye, grabs his drink, and leaves the café.
You wouldn’t exactly consider yourself a friendly person, it wasn’t for a bad reason — it was just in your blood. With Nico, it felt like you had known each other for decades.
Intrigued, you kept drinking your coffee and opened the book, resuming your reading.
The day was clear, with the sun shining brightly in the blue sky, but the cool breeze from the Alps softened the heat, making it the perfect weather for a walk. The trail wound through tall, sturdy trees, creating small tunnels of shade along the path. Further ahead, open fields revealed a sea of wildflowers in shades of yellow and white, gently swaying with the wind. It was truly paradise.
The sound of rustling leaves and distant bird songs echoed in the air, interrupted only by the occasional snap of twigs beneath your feet. The fresh scent of earth and pine was comforting, filling your lungs with every deep breath.
The view widened as you climbed the trail. Snow-covered mountains appeared on the horizon, contrasting with the intense green of the vegetation around. In the distance, a small lake sparkled under the sunlight, looking like a natural mirror.
You then pulled out your phone to take a photo. It was almost impossible to leave without wanting to capture a piece of this to remember when you were gone.
livelyzaya has made a new post.
liked by mayalively, ceciadams and 53 others.
livelyzaya: just fantastic.
ceciadams: what a beautiful view, i miss you :(
mayalively: glad you're having fun, sweetie! take care. <3
You were so immersed in the beauty around you that you almost didn’t notice the sound of footsteps coming behind you, firm and rhythmic, until a familiar voice pulled you from your thoughts.
“I thought I’d be the only one here today. Looks like we underestimated Davos." Nico said, smiling. He wasn’t wearing a beanie this time, just his loose hair — it seemed recently cut but still maintained a slightly long appearance — a red jacket, and a hiking backpack.
“And it seems you have a talent for showing up in the right places." you said, smiling. It wasn’t flirting; it was genuinely curious to find him in the café and then, a few days later, in a completely different place.
“Or maybe I’m just following you." he said, smiling, quickly shutting down when he noticed you didn’t smile back. A woman alone, in the middle of nowhere and out of her home country; what could go wrong, right? “I’m just kidding.” he added, looking worried.
“I thought I’d have a peaceful day. Now, unfortunately, I’ll have to share the view." you said, humorously.
Nico made a dramatic gesture, typical of a royal court member, clearing the way for you to go ahead.
“I promise I won’t disturb you. I’m great at silence, if you prefer." you raised an eyebrow in response.
“I don’t know if I believe that, but you can join me. Just hope you’re not terrible at uphill walks.”
Nico gave you a look of extreme indignation. You had completely forgotten he was the captain of a team in a sport that demands extreme physical conditioning.
“Terrible at uphill walks? I play ice hockey. Uphills aren’t a problem for me.” you smiled, walking ahead and starting the climb.
“That’s what we’ll find out.”
After a few minutes of walking in silence, Nico pointed to your backpack, correctly guessing you were carrying the book you’d talked about last time.
“Did you finish the book, or is it still dragging on?”
You laughed, a mix of humor and exhaustion. Unlike Nico, although you enjoyed hiking and walks, you handled scalpels and medicine much better than methods of how-to-climb-a-mountain-without-having-a-heart-attack.
“Almost done. I’m just postponing it because I don’t want it to end. But I know I’ll reread it, so it’s not that bad.” Nico looked at you with a curious gaze, still walking behind you.
“Do you always reread books you like?”
The question made you thoughtful, showing in your expression as you tried to remember how many times you had done that (many).
“If they’re good enough to leave a mark, yes. I think some stories deserve to be revisited.” Nico slowly nodded.
“That makes sense. I think I do that with some memories, instead of books.”
“Good analogy. Too bad some memories aren’t as kind as books.” Nico paused briefly and stared at the horizon behind him. It was beautiful.
“Yeah, but sometimes you don’t have a choice. They stay there, even if you don’t want them.”
Whoa. Deep. You quickly tried to break the mood.
“Maybe you should write about that. Who knows, an autobiography to rival your sister’s favorite.”
Nico laughed, eyes closed, going back to walking behind you.
“I don’t think I’m that interesting. But if I need a co-author, I’ll let you know.”
When you reached the top, you were speechless. You were absolutely amazed by what the view offered.
“You were right. This view is amazing. I can’t believe we’re the only ones seeing this right now.” you said, out of breath but enchanted.
“I told you it was incredible. This is real.” Nico said, smiling at you instead of at the landscape. His act made you feel a small shiver down your spine, but the cold made you doubt the reason why.
You shared a moment of silence, with the soft breeze of the Alps around you. For the first time in a long time, you felt that the present was stronger than any memory or worry.
"We've been talking all this time and I don't even know your name." You make an offended expression.
"Wow, what a gentleman. First you invade my trail, and only now do you notice that?" you say, placing your hand on your chest dramatically and with a tone of indignation. Nico laughs and defends himself.
"Technically, you invaded my trail. I was just polite enough to follow." you shrug. That seems fair.
"Good point. I'm Zaya."
"Zaya." Nico repeats your name, as if he likes the way it sounds. "It suits you. My name is Nico." he says innocently.
"I know who you are." You let out a small laugh, noticing his slightly confused expression, but still seeming to enjoy the situation.
"Oh, so you knew who I was? Are you a stalker or something?" he says, making you laugh again.
"My dad is a huge hockey fan. I think he knows more about the New Jersey Devils than about me." you say.
"And you?" Nico looks at you with a curious gaze.
"I hate hockey." you say with a more serious expression, while Nico quickly makes an offended face, this time looking real.
"Hate it? Is this personal? Seems offensive. How can someone hate the greatest sport in the world?"
Nico still keeps the offended expression, but can't hide the corner-of-the-mouth smile that appears as soon as he realizes you're joking.
"I just don’t get the fascination for a sport where people push each other on ice and hit each other with sticks."
"Hockey is much more than that. You should try it."
"Skating?" you shake your head, seeing the offer as something totally unacceptable. "No, thanks. I could never keep my balance on asphalt, let alone on ice."
Nico laughs because he actually finds it funny, but changes the tone of the conversation to something genuine.
"That's all you need. I can teach you. Believe me, you're going to love it."
"Teach?" you look at him with suspicion, but with your eyes still sparkling with possibility. "Not convinced." Nico shrugs confidently.
"Well, since you don’t like it, maybe I have to show you what you're missing. How about a bet?"
You raise an eyebrow, intrigued by what could come next. "A bet? On what?"
Nico gets closer, you could swear you've seen that challenging expression on the ice during the games your dad begged you to watch with him on holidays.
"You’ve never learned to skate, right? We can try. If you like it, promise me you'll at least try to watch a game, but if you don’t like it, you’ll join me on one of the hardest trails in Davos. What do you think?" he says, crossing his arms.
"Sounds tempting..." you say, with an ironic tone.
"I'm serious. Just one day. I won’t pressure you to fall in love with the sport. If you still hate it afterward, I’ll read the autobiography."
You’ve always been the most competitive kid at school, and to be honest, that hadn’t changed in adulthood. A challenge? It was like Nico was swimming in a sea of sharks, and you were the hungriest shark in the school. You look around, as if contemplating, before finally giving in.
"Okay, you’ve convinced me. But if I don’t like it, besides reading the autobiography, you’ll have to join me on a trail harder than anything you've done before."
"Deal." Nico says with a big smile. "I’m not going to miss this."
"Just don’t ask me to become a fan of the Devils. I’m still not on that team." Nico laughs at your audacity.
"Talking like that to the team captain is crazy. We’ll see how you do on the ice. If you don’t fall, I’ll put you in to replace Jack Hughes." You smile at the thought of a possible new job.
Still talking about the amazing view, you both start heading back to the flatland. Nico mentions the city’s frozen lake, setting the "private lesson" for tomorrow at 3 pm.
Arriving at your initial destination, the sun is lower now, painting the sky with golden and orange hues. The soft sound of footsteps on the freshly melted snow blends with the light breeze that continues to caress the trees. You walk side by side, the conversation now more laid-back, as Nico talks a bit about what it’s like to deal with hockey and the crazy pressure placed on athletes of the sport.
When you part ways, you feel that, despite the teasing, there’s something more peaceful and sincere between you two now. The fresh mountain air and the sound of nature around you reinforce the feeling that maybe that summer in Davos could be more than just a random encounter.

You made such excellent points- in OG book vampirism is imposed on Mina by outside force and Mina actually can be cured from it if they kill Dracula. But if not Jonathan is ready to become vampire himself. Ellen meanwhile was born like that - with her psychic paranormal abilities. Orlok didn’t make her like that, that’s her forever part. But Thomas essentially wants her to be normal, while she never was in the traditional sense and can’t be normal and in his hunt for Orlok seems to believe that killing him would not only save but cure-fix Ellen too. It won’t. I mean Thomas is the one, who proceeds to have sex with Ellen when she’s not even feeling perfectly coherent, not entirely self, because he wants to show his masculinity or idk. Imagine if after Dracula’s attack on Mina and Mina telling about it Jonathan would immediately proceed to have aggressive sex with her instead of just comforting her, because he needs to reestablish his husband’s rights or something? Like that’s not. But that’s the part of why book Jonathan and 2024 remake Thomas are different characters.
Thank you - I'm glad you've enjoyed them, and they do actually connect to the scene you're mentioning here!
There is a lot to say about this particular sequence, mainly because it forces two characters to deal with each other and face the reality of their marriage, while both are emotionally stripped to the bone and unstable. The result is an incredibly revealing scene. It digs into the Hutters' insecurities, fears, hurts - and even though they largely fail to communicate within their fictional framework, the viewer gets a veritable feast of information regarding them both.
Throughout this scene, Ellen is evidently in a psychic trance; as demonstrated by Von Franz and his needle, during these "fits" she is at least partially astral projecting; her soul is not entirely housed in her body and she often appears to be sleepwalking (which might be a reference both to the original 1922 Nosferatu and Eggers' earlier project The Witch). In this state, she is also not in control of the baser, more physical, less rational passions and desires; she is unbound, stripped of her usual repression - and what lies beneath is a lifetime of neglect, loneliness, and disrespect, as well as all the pain and rage she consequently feels. This is not a surprise for the viewer, who has already witnessed her suffering, her lack of autonomy, and her argument with Harding; but it is absolutely a surprise for Thomas.
Thomas cannot fathom why Ellen would be angry with him; in his mind, he has done everything right - provided for her, prioritized their financial advancement, came back to try and save her from the monster he knows is after her. However, what he fails to understand that he has also cut their honeymoon short, that he left her right after that to travel to another country, that she never cared about wealth beyond being able to afford a somewhat stable existence; what Ellen wants, above all else, is to be known, understood, and respected - and Thomas has failed to give her that. He discourages her from talking about her dreams, he does not understand her priorities in life, and he cannot help but patronize her, even when he is attempting to express his affections. Her visceral anger is a shock to him, it catches him entirely off-guard, and then she drops a final bomb - "you could never please me the way he does."
What Ellen means here is that Orlok, a monster, is the only one who has ever understood her - because she is herself a monster. What she is trying to do is bait Thomas into exposing what she believes he truly thinks of her, now that he has seen what she becomes, liberated by the nightfall.* This is obviously a toxic thing to do, but Ellen is not a healthy or balanced individual, and this is a gothic story, so yes, she baits him (rather blatantly, in my opinion; but I've seen people confused about it, so who knows. Admittedly, I have a rather specific sort of practical background, as far as relationships go). Point is, what she expects from him is a rejection; and what she craves, desperately, is his acceptance.
What Thomas hears, however, is that another man has infringed upon what is legally his - and that his masculinity is in question, rather than Ellen's humanity; which lands a critical hit against his already damaged, patriarchal, 19th-century-misogynistic ego.
To fully understand his reaction, we must really dig into his overall narrative context. From the very beginning of the film, and throughout the story, Thomas Hutter's struggles revolve around his continuous emasculation. He is a low-level part-time employee at a real estate firm that is run exclusively by older, well-established men. He is played for a fool by foreigners who steal his horse (they were just trying to save his life, seriously, they didn't think he'd hike the fucking Carpathians on foot in the winter, but that's not how he perceives that situation). He is trapped in Orlok's castle - and, given the sexual allegories of vampirism, arguably assaulted. I'm not going to go into the full background of queerphobic stereotypes and opinions; still, suffice to say that not only would that experience have been traumatic (understandably so), but also that the act of submitting to penetration (here, biting) by another man has been historically seen as inherently emasculating and degrading. In the context of Nosferatu (or Dracula, or Interview with the Vampire, and others), this scenario is, on a largely Doylist level, a bodice-ripper fantasy; however, that doesn't make it any easier for Thomas to accept. To submit to another (even a richer, older, infinitely more powerful) man is a problem - but to enjoy that position is unforgivable.
All that to say - by the time Thomas returns to Wisborg, his sense of self-worth is in shambles. The narrative has assigned him the role of a Damsel in Distress, which he fits perfectly and obviously resents. Thus, when he hears yet another insult from his wife - who may be higher-born, but still his wife, and thus below him - he reacts accordingly, with fury.
Again, in anticipation of discourse wank - this is not a good thing; his reasons are clear, I understand them, I do not excuse him. What Thomas does at this point is attempt to aggressively reassert his claim and right to Ellen as her husband. He's rough, but uninventive; he also doesn't worship her the way Orlok did; and, ultimately, even as he tries to demonstrate his continued interest and desire for her, he ends up proving her anxieties. When faced with a hallucination - a fraction of her psychic gift - he flings her away. Crucially, he cannot "show" Orlok their love.
After that, he does try to reassure her, be gentle with her, declare his love - but, really, he might as well mark that off as another failure. She has seen how terrified he looked, and she will not believe a word he says.
The whole scene is a distillation of their dynamic. It's one disconnect after another, strung together by his inability to listen, her lack of trust, and their shared resentment. Thomas and Ellen's relationship is hindered at every turn by the misogyny, queerphobia, and repression that are built into the cage that is their society. The film is an exploration of that cage. Its bars are the driving force behind the plot.
* NIGHTFALL - the diurnal, or gas-lit (it's on the nose. it's SO on the nose) scenes are a visual shorthand for the "normal" accepted society. It is Rational (hence the scientific "gaseous" light), it is godly (sunlight), it is the domain of the Hardings and Sievers of the story. The moonlight and firelight provide a similar distinction to the scenes that delve into the Emotional and the demonic, removing the subjects from the usual societal restrictions; those light sources are generally considered to be magical, primal, raw. It's fascinating, seriously - if you ever watch this film again, try to pay attention to the lighting!

It's weird that this happened twice.
I'm going to chalk it up to both instances being a symptom of an identical group, because it is the exact same complaint in two completely different franchises.
Guardians of the Galaxy and Helluva Boss: Season 2, Ep. 12 - Sinsmas.
If you're immediately confused, let me explain.
I witnessed the complaint that Stolas' pupils are making him cuter, so that the audience feels sorry for him, despite how, in this person's perspective, he doesn't deserve the sympathy, is an asshole, and is being babied by the narrative.
This, believe it or not, was the same complaint that the only people who hated Guardians of the Galaxy, made. It was claimed that the mere inclusion of Rocket and Groot was "emotional manipulation" because of their appearance as a talking raccoon and a sentient tree, to "cheat" at scriptwriting.
Mind you, James Gunn has his share of diehard haters who, let's just say, aren't the most mature critical thinkers this side of the internet; the exact breed of haters that Vivzie has.
Death threat senders, boycotters, cancel culture mobs, etcetera.
Funnily enough, these sorts of people can't seem to help frothing with impotent rage at wildly successful, groundbreaking, liberal leaning creatives who inject their violent, action filled narratives with deep, solemn, and meaningful emotional moments and themes about healing.
Of course, this complaint is about as stable as the type of people who made it back then, and are making it now. If it's such a nothing-burger, then why am I bringing it up? Well, it's because of the realization I gained and am going to use as my mental ethos from now on.
Most of the people who complain about things I like, 99.89% of them, do not possess the actual knowledge, expertise, or critical thinking to say anything meaningful.
You want to know how I know that?
Because if they had even a rudimentary understanding of how writing, theater, film, character development, and themes worked, they wouldn't hold the opinions that they do.
And how do I know that?
Because I have a Bachelor's in Theatre - Performance and a Minor in Film Studies from a college university. I have been in films, I have been on the proscenium, I have written scripts to be performed in front of audiences, and I have always been English-inclined. Storytelling is my realm.
I can guarantee you, they have not done the same.

I Wanna read PIDW
Honest to god my feed has been full of so many analyses of the scum villain characters, who are detailed and roundabout, however, we see it threw the lens of the scum villain and Shen Yuan's knowledge of budget cut version PIDW. LIKE DON'T GET ME WRONG To me scum villain is a masterpiece at exploring characters and motives. Still, SCUM VILLAIN IS THE SURFACE, its detailed but our narrator is completely unreliable Shen Yuan doesn't even know himself or his own sexuality, for pretty much the whole story almost until the end not only does he still perceive everybody as a "Character" undermining of the feelings of the man who he fell in love with Luo binghe but he's too dense to actually see more around him, Shen yuan is smart, he was going into university and read hundreds of chapters of PIDW in one sitting (and probably other books too) however he was obviously still young, he was 21 when he transmigrated and he doesn't have enough common sense to perceive the emotions of real people to a deep extent, he was also a sheltered child who spent most of his time inside, HE NEEDED LUO BINGHE TO KISS/ASSAULT HIM TO REALISED HE LOVED HIM yet scum villain (in my opinion) is still a masterpiece of a novel.
Scum Villain ends with the readers knowing the glimpse into Shen Yuan and Luo binghe's lives is over yet their lives characters are still continuing so:
my thoughts are what happened next and what would happen if Scum Villain never happened? and PIDW (the real story) happened?
Honestly, it doesn't have to be a danmei or love story for me to fall in love with it. THERE IS SO MUCH GOING ON IN SCUM VILLIAN we don't even see!!
What happened with Zhuzhi Lang and Luo Binghe all we know is that they fought randomly BUT THERE is MORE TO AND WE KNOW IT, ZHUZHI LANG PROBABLY REACTED BADLY TO SEEING SOMEONE HER FACE we know that Zhushi Lang is a bit stupid and morally gray and luo binghe can be toxic and cruel so what exactly happened?
LIU QINGE FOUGHT FOR 5 YEARS WITH LUO BINGHE FOR SHEN QINGQIU BODY but you telling me he was doing it for honor and not love, that he never saw binghe cry? that he never got close to getting his body?
TIANLANG JUN FOUGHT TOOTH AND NAIL FOR 20 YEARS TO STAY CONSCIOUS IN HIS ROTTING BODY YOUR TELLING ME HE DIED OFF-SCREEN AND JUST DISAPPEARED THAT ZHUZHI LANG HEAVENLY DEMON HALF-BREED JUST FADED AWAY WITH HIM? I understand Luo binghe has the main character Halo/plot armor but Tianlang Jun is supposed to be a challenge and heavenly demons don't just die like that.
and all these questions are from scum villain setting imagine the REAL PIDW:
Luo binghe a child who had lost both his mom's birth and adoptive gets taken in and abused by his Shizun projecting his abuse onto someone who reminds him of his abuser after years of dealing with this he meets Meng Mo who teaches him demonic cultivation in secret, later at the immortal alliance conflict he is discovered to be a half breed and is thrown into the abyss (practically hell) in there he learns how to master his powers and starts to head out as he is now a true demon lord.
without the half-baked harem and romance subplots it sounds like an interesting but normal story OKAY NOW ADD ALL THE CONTEXT AND STORY IMPLICATIONS FROM SCUM VILLIAN WITHOUT THE ROMANCE AND TELL ME THIS ISN'T THIS MOST INTERESTING THING YOU EVER HEARD?
SHANG QINGHUA WAS A GENIUS who was held back by a horrible fanbase and need for money HE HAD A GREAT STORY AND A CAST OF 3 DIMENSIONAL CHARACTERS AND THE FACT THAT LUO BINGHE ENDED UP ALONE in his original story BOGGLES MY MIND CAUSE WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN CAUSE FROM MY UNDERSTANDING:
the beginning of the story is kinda the same (at least that's what I'm assuming I don't know what he was cooking ) but then he just ends up going threw a different path NOT TO MENTION binghe is unstable in most universes (when I say most mean them two we saw in the story but nonetheless) his childhood trauma; abandonment issues and feelings of responsibility towards his adoptive mother's death shapes the luo binghe's mindset and depending on how Shen Qingqiu treats him shows the fate of the world and his understanding of himself what he went threw and how he sees people so what was the difference (and just so you know I'm gonna ignore all romance because it doesn't matter as binghe didn't give a fuck about his wives in the first place they were just playing things for binghe amusement and give him affection and attention)
What was the thing that made the REAL Luo Binghe go down a path of despair and complete loneliness? instead of searching for love or replacements.
WE WILL NEVER KNOW.

i'm so tired of seeing posts of people are asking for the downfall of cps. cp marketing works so no sane company is going to ditch a working concept. i am also tired of people acting like gls are superior to bls when in reality there are simply way more bl shows/cps to pick from compared to gls. if we had as many gls as bls those numbers would even out a lot more and i say this as someone who adores gls. i just do understand why everything always has to be a competition idk
I truly, honestly, deeply do not understand the hatred for CPs. I've seen people say the CP system makes shows predictable because you always know the two leads are going to end up together at the end—even though this is true for all romances as it is a requirement of the genre. I've seen people say production companies (or really just GMMTV specifically) are editing their scripts so that their CPs appear more likable—even though most of these shows are based on novels that are already fully written and also the directors and scriptwriters usually don't work for the production company anyway. I've seen people say CPs are stripping the queerness from BLs—even though that is literally impossible because all BLs are queer media.
If you want my honest opinion, I think what the dislike of the CP structure actually is is a dislike of the fan culture that surrounds it. Some people like to interact with media on a purely academic level, which is fine, but believe it or not, fangirls (gender neutral) are capable of critical thought, too. A lot of the pseudo-intellectual arguments I see in fandom boil down to a certain segment of fans thinking they are better than the other simply because they choose to interact with the source material differently.
Regardless, CPs have become an integral part of Thai BL and they aren't going anywhere. So if CPs are a deal breaker, Thai BL is probably not for you.
As for the GLs, I understand why you're frustrated—especially if you're spending any time on Twitter because the GL fandom over there is not friendly to BL watchers...and that's putting it mildly. But I'm actually not sure I agree with your statement that GL viewership would go down if the market was as saturated with GLs as it is with BLs.
Yesterday's episode of Pluto pulled higher engagement numbers than 2gether back in 2020 when the BL market was less saturated. That's insane. One thing I think it may be hard to understand unless you're a queer creative who's been around for a while is that we've been told for years and years and years that sapphic media isn't being created because it doesn't sell. That men and straight women won't watch it. Thailand is proving them wrong and I'm very excited to see where this takes us, not only within Thailand, but internationally.
I do agree, though, that I wish everything wasn't such a competition. I would love to see more melding of the BL and GL genres, but every time a company tries, they get huge backlash from the GL side of Twitter who don't want any men in their media at all. They're like the radfems of QL and I wish it would stop.

I went to reblog a post, but couldn't and found out I was blocked(never interacted with them a day in my life). Sometimes Tumblr glitches, so I went on my Evie blog to see if I had the same issues. Yes, blocked-which is fine. We curate our own experiences and if that means blocking me, okay!
But anyway, they are a total John hater anyway.
I wanted to respond to this post that said John was essentially the most like Arthur Sr. and that 90% of his issues in regards to needing a mother for his kids was because of his drinking....okay, yes. I understand what you are saying, but disagree to a point.
Here is my opinion:
I am going to hand out some hard pills. I have to write my words carefully because I don't want to seem as if I am coming up with excuses for him, but more so explanations. As a woman of the 21st century, I agree. John could have been a better father. So couldn't Arthur and Tommy. However, comparing him to Arthur Sr. is a little far. Arthur senior wasn't only a drunk, but absent, abusive, manipulative, and so on.
I think sometimes when people watch historical pieces, they implement a modern lens. You can't bring your modern thought process to a historical drama and be like...why did you do this?! Why didn't you do that?! Why? Because times were different. John wanting a wife for his kids goes deeper than 'oh, I just don't parent them'. Traditionally, parents were generally more off hands and distant. It was a parenting technique, actually. But more so, fathers. John wants a mother for his kids because that is who traditionally does most of the nurturing, raising, care giving, and domestic work. Kids need a mother for a healthier upbringing and John needs a wife to take care of the home front. Because to him, he's the one that goes to work and brings home money to support the household. Mothers and fathers have two separate, important roles. Men went to work, sometimes until very late. And sometimes(a lot) they went to the pub after work.... I understand with the overall point, and I would 100% agree if we were talking about a more modern man. But we aren't, we are talking about John Shelby who is a man from the 1920's. Would his problems be solved if he just went home and took care of his kids? Of course. But watching PB, a lot of their problems would have been solved if they just did that or this.
This is just my two cents. Feel free to disagree.

Supernatural was on so long in the hands of so many people with very differing views on the story they were telling that there is evidence in canon to support almost any interpretation.
#and thats why i cant get in circle jerking arguments with people who disagree with my opinions#neither of us are wrong or right we just have different parts that are compelling to us#and so im just going to ignore you or block you even!#we will never agree so why waste the energy!!#but this is also why i get annoyed at people (even if i agree with them) acting like this is the TRUE thing the show was telling us#because tbh often thats not the whole picture and i can understand why people see it from a different angle#and i mean all stories are like this but spn is particularly broad

i feel like im not making any sense but does anyone else feel like there are stories that let u run with them and ones that spell everything out for you
#im reading that post that says artists are directors of audience reaction and not its dictator:#'you cannot guarantee that everyone viewing your work will react as you are trying t make them react. a good artist knows that this is what#allows work to breath. by definition you cannot have art where the viewer brings nothing to the table ... this is why you have to let go of#the urge to plainly state in text exactly how you think the work should be interpreted ... its better to be misinterpreted sometimes than#to talk down to your audience. you wont even gain any control that way; people will still develop their opinions no matter what you do#im thinking abt this again cuz i was thinking maybe the thing that lets adventure time work so well the way it does is cuz it doesnt#take itself too seriously that it gives the audience enough room to fuck with subtext and then fuck with them back yknow. i think it was#mentioned somewhere that they werent even planning to run with the postapocalyptic elements that are hinted in the show but changed their#mind after the one off with the frozen businessmen and dominoed into marcy and simons backstory. on the other side there are stories that#explain too much to let the story speak for itself and i think it ends up having to do more with the crew trying to lead ppl in a certain#direction than expand on what they have and i see a lot of this with miraculous. like when interviews and tweets are used as word of god in#arguments and it becomes a little stifling to play around with it knowing the creator can just interject. u can say its the crews effort to#engage with its audience but it feels more like micromanaging. and none of this is to say there ISNT room for stories that spell things out#theyre just suited for different things. if sesame street tried abstract approaches to themes and nuance itd be counterproductive#a lot of things fly over my head so i need help picking things apart to get it- but it doesnt have to be from the story itself. ive picked#picked up or built on my own interpretations listening to other ppl share their thoughts which creates conversation around the same thing#sometimes stories will spell things out for you without being so obvious abt it that it feels like its woven into the text. my fav example#for this might be ATLA using younger characters as its main cast but instead of feeling like its dumbed down for kids to understand why war#is bad its framed from a childs point of view so younger audiences can pick up on it by relating to the characters. maybe an 8 year old#wont get how geopolitics works but at least they get 'hey the world is a little more complicated than everyone vs. fire nation'. same for#steven universe bc its like theyre trying to describe and put feelings into words that kids might not have so they have smth to start with#especially with the metaphors around relationships bc even if it looks unfamiliar as a kid now maybe the hope is for it to be smth you can#look back to. thats why it feels like these shows grew up with me.. instead of saving difficult topics for 'when im ready for it'#as if its preparing me for high school it gave me smth to turn in my hands and revisit again and again as i grow. stories that never#treated u as dumb all along. just someone who could learn and come back to it as many times as u need to. i loved SU for the longest time#but i felt guilty for enjoying it hearing the way ppl bash it. bc i was a kid and thought other ppl understood it better than me and made#feel bad for leaning into the message of paying forward kindness and not questioning why steven didnt punish the diamonds or hold them#accountable. but im rewatching it now and going oh. i still love this show and what it was trying to teach me#yapping#diary

i will cashapp $10 to the first person who can name 3 real life harmful things bob bryar did without accusing him of thought crime
#wordvomit#this isnt to say the things he said or thought are good or justifiable- just to point out that he never ACTED on them in any capacity#meanwhile he is being socially prosecuted to the extent as if he has. during such an awful time for his loved ones who are the only ones#who will be exposed to all this hate. possibly including the members of mcr#i understand thinking the things he said are sick and disliking him and being uncomfortable at the discussion but.#i dont understand how you can honestly morally justify half of the stuff people have been saying- like 'he deserved it' and whatnot#without contradicting the 'thoughtcrime isnt real' sentiment i see get thrown around so often ?#isnt the Overarching issue with conservatism as a whole not the idea of . moral purity and puritanism and#'everyone. everything and every idea ontologically different from mine and my communities-#they are objectively worse and i deserve power over them as retribution for what they've done'#ie colonialism. racism. yadda yadda#these are false comparatives bc discrimination based on unchangeable factors vs backlash to opinion is vry different but i still think#the core idea of 'no one who has not enacted harm deserves harm wished on them' kinda shines through it all#and there is a semantic debate to be had about the definition of harm but in this case i am using it to mean anything more Tangible#something that has a wider influence than 'the people who read/heard it were upset and uncomfortable' yea ?#im been waffling about this a lot and why it hasnt been sitting right with me as someone who is incredibly uncomfortable with a lot of his#final statements#it just reminds me so much of my dad and what ive watched him go through#as well as other people in my community during the pandemic#i cant disconnect myself from the humanity of that. especially while condemning him for lacking humanity
