1/ Which category of alterhumanity do you belong to? I'm otherkin, therian and questioning archetrope

2/ What/who is/are your type(s)? (if you have any) I'm a shapechanger fairy otherkin, a white rabbit therian and im questioning wizard archetrope :>

3/ Do you experience shifts? If so, can you tell us your most common shifts and your strangest cameo shift (if you've ever had a cameo shift)? I do tho theyre often mild/partial. And are 90% phantom limb shifts, very rare i get mental shifts. However I believe that my brain is always in fairy mode so thats kinda why, i only rly get mental shifts for either my therian self OR other forms my fairy self takes (like wolf or deer etc). For phantoms my most common shifts are: pointed ears, fairy wings, fluffy tail (wolf or partial wolf form) or rabbit ears. I've also had hooves and more recently paw and maw shifts bc of more frequently being in wolf form.

as for cameos its hard to tell if any of my shifts are cameos bc as a shapechanger i take many forms but also experience what i call 'mirror shifts' or 'sympathy shifts' where ill take on phantoms or headspace of beings im seeing or watching. My nightfury form is an example as well as i experienced hoof shifts while watching mlp. I don't consider these cameos (im not even sure if i rly believe in the concept for myself) but rather just an aspect of my shapechanger ID.

4/ How do you experience your alterhumanity in everyday life? Um, i find it doesnt rly affect me too much, or at least it doesnt feel much different than how it did before i realised. If anything, mentally, i feel like im returning to the headspace/mind i had as a child. Not necessarily being childlike but being more open and seeing the world with (what i call) secondsight. It's very rare that anyone around me would rly know if im experiencing nonhuman things unless i tell them. And the only times i rly tell ppl if im say around my partners and im experience strong/uncomfortable shifts just so they know for context.

5/ What do you think of the community? nnnnnyeeehggwueureeehhh ok so, i do love having a community of beings who experience these same weird things I do and to have names to put to feelings i've had for a long time. But i've only been in the actual community a few months and im already having to find that i need to carve out smaller, more selective spaces for myself (like discords) because trying to be active in a greater sense of community (tumblr tags mainly) i find quite stressful. But almost entirely for the same reason any internet community is stressful, Especially on tumblr and that is; everyone's obsession with black and white moralized discourse about incredibly nuanced topics that are honestly not-as-big-of-a-deal-in-the-grand-scheme-of-things-as-ppl-here-think-they-are. And it drives me up the wall. but hh i wont go into too much detail ill just leave it at that.

Basically the only issue i have with the wider community is the same issue i have with any community space on tumblr, not just alterhumans. And I'm gonna probably try cut back on how often im in the tags and just stick to posting OC stuff here and reblogging from ppl i follow.

Smaller groups, the irl nonhumans i know tho? great, wonderful, fantastic.

6/ What are the things that make you most comfortable and euphoric in your alterhumanity? hmm, being around my supportive peeps (humans and non humans) esp one of my partners (who has another nh partner) who's very encouraging of me expressing this part of myself! To the point where they do species affirming photography of us as art projects and its v fun (i have no finished photos yet but will post when they happen!) Other things i find v euphoric is wearing outfits that i find align to my fairyself, listening to my fairy music playlists and doing crafts and art things related to my IDs.

7/ Are you experiencing species dysphoria? Sometimes but it's not very strong, and when I do its pretty much only for my fairy self. I feel strong dysphoria toward my ears and my dream is to get their permanently pointed one day. but noone in my country does that procedure u-u

I do get waves of dysphoria for certain things, like not having my wings, or the ability to fly or not being able to shapeshift. But they don't often last long. Ear dysphoria is my sort of only long term thing. Outside of that, because i feel as though im a fairy disguised as a human i feel quite ok in my human body, moreso bc i love humans (and primates) so having a human and primate body can be quite euphoric in a sort of autistic special interest way. And attraction way too as I have a lot of features i find attractive in others.

8/ What advice would you like to say to a young alterhuman who has just awakened? Community is great but don't put your age on the internet!! and dont put your face or location on here either!!! Hell try and use a different name too! You can partake in community just fine anonymously! But please keep urself safe, it's honestly just good practice in general. The only reason i have my face on here is bc i have a huge ego lol.

as for actual n/ahaa stuff uh, idk i also just recently awakened but ill say; you have all the time in the world to figure yourself out, you are likely to go thru lots of different labels and views of urself. Its normal, its ok, it can be exhausting but it's kind of par for the course in being a young person lol.

9/ Do you have/want to have gears? YOS!! i haaaave big green fairy wings (which ill post nice photos of soon i prommy), i have sets of hang-on (?) elf ears, i have several kinds of tails, some real some faux (tho i plan on making more faux tails to wear bc id rather my real ones just be wall decor), i have several masks that i have made aaand i think thats it?

technically one of my fursuits is of a (mostly) white (demon) rabbit but i made him long before any of this and idk if i feel particularly species affirming while wearing him lol. But it is fun taking a different form so maybe it appeals to my shapeshifter nature.

10/ Do you know/have any theories about the origin of your alterhumanity? If so, tell us! (all beliefs are legitimate) ooh this one is fun but also long haha, but a good place to elaborate on what i briefly mention in my pinned post:

For my rabbit theriotype i feel its 90% imprinting. It's probably why i don't feel a super strong sense of it or dysphoria. i kinda describe it as like, if ur born in one country and raised in another u tend to identify more with the latter. It feels like i was born human but raised by rabbits. My first ever pet was a rabbit named Ruby and i was v attached to her, looking back it feels almost like a familial connection. Later on (while we still had her), we also gained more rabbits and bred them, so i was very interconnected to their life cycle (birth, life and death. plenty of death. rabbits love dying tbh) and so i've always felt like a large part of my brain or personality is just simply.. rabbit. I've just always been rabbit. I always drew myself as a rabbit furry or a human with rabbit ears and tail, just completely instinctually. It made me happy when i was a kid to think i was born in the year of the rabbit (tho as an adult i learnt i actually wasnt bc chinese new year dates oop) i always had buck teeth and was never embarrassed abt em. Idk i was always just... rabbit.

As for fairies~ well it gets complicated haha. There's def a lot of imprinting in a similar way to rabbits. My mum was big on fairies (had a huge collection of fairy figurines and introduced me to a lot of fairy books and things) and so i kinda grew up around their image as well. An author i read a lot as a kid (and would love a collection of as an adult) is Shirley Barber, she's an australian author and painter so idk if her work is popular outside of oceania but her work was super influential on me and my perfection of fairies. It's also the reason I use the spelling "fairy" over "faery" all are correct but the former is v nostalgic to me and feels familial in a sense.

I do also feel a spiritual origin for fairy too tho, tho i had only realised after awaking as otherkin bc that is what spurred me on to actually explore spirituality finally. And immediately upon doing so I got a sense from the fae i work with of like 'omg finally ur here' XD I get the sense im fae internally in a human body in order to serve myself, humans and faries. Tho my fairy-to-human relationship does shift and change, as fairies tend to do. It's a very fluid existence, some days im just a fairy disguised as a human, other days i feel half n half, sometimes i feel a bit like a human with fairy ancestry. also i use 'serve' loosely, i dont rly feel im put her with a purpose more just a general sense of like, bringing magic to humans and maybe protecting the environment but mostly just learning how to live. idk its v loosey goosey on this side haha. still working it out.

The Magic of the Moving Image

Entertainment in all forms has been influenced widely by available technology of the time. The late 1800s was a time when cinema was just beginning to be a popular source of visual arts and storytelling for a general audience. Some of the first filmmakers were The Lumiere Brothers, who produced films that were slice of life visuals of goings on of the time. One of their most famous films was called ‘The Arrival of a Train’ made in 1896 of exactly what the title presented. I first remember seeing this scene in Hugo, a movie made by Martin Scorsese that highlights this specific generation of filmmakers. This film also mentions George Melies who made A Trip To the Moon, and was known for his whimsical and dream-like films in the early 1900s. I have personally seen this film before, in color and black and white and the historical significance of this film is groundbreaking in that it had some of the first ever visual effects in storytelling by using emulsion and film to make layers and cuts to make the story look like magic. An example of this is the very famous shot, the moon with a rocket in its eye, and a face inside of it to create a sense of character in it. A Trip to the Moon also predicted the actual moon landing that happened in 1969, famously during the American and Soviet Union Space Race. For the time, it was all types of revolutionary, not to mention entertaining. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vWS5KlqgpR8 Today, we use special effects digitally to capture layers, remove or move characters in a scene, and even replicate entire worlds, such as Avatar. A comment from one of my peers quoted Tesch who wrote, “the most ‘spectacular’ public performances of the period addressed not just the eye but the ear with sound, speech, and music creating an immersive, fully embodied shared experience”. This is true in during the screenings of these motion pictures, due to the invention of talkies in the mid-late twenties was not yet conceived, and the music that they played enhanced the story and fantasy-like quality of the performances. Other forms of entertainment during the late 1800s and 1900s included photographs or images that had minor or major edits or immersive qualities. A quote from one of my peers states that the images ‘appeared so real to viewers to the point where stage magicians and photographers went out of their way to debunk it as a photography trick.’ This, similar to Melies’ films, was one of the first forms of visual editing that we know today to be mostly digital. These simple things that we could do in seconds now must’ve taken hours, days, even weeks to perfect for some of the artwork made during this time period. It was the beginning of a scientific and innovative wave that would spread from one generation to the next and develop more and more with the improvement and growth of technology.

Omg I re-downloaded Tumblr after not having it for so long and I have no idea what I'm doing

But uhh hii I'm Toya my pronouns are she/they, I'm prolly just gonna use Tumblr to spam or talk about anything :P though I am open to meet new people an friends :000

I'll probably make a proper introduction when I actually know how to use tumblr...

I have lots of interest so here some facts about me :D. My favorite color is pink, specifically pastel pink. I'm pan and underage (sorry I don't like saying my actual age). I'm full Mexican but hella pale because I never went out as a kid D; . I'm an artist, I want to do digital but don't have the things for it so I do pencil art. I like to play video games, example; GTA V, Borderlands, Ark, Overwatch(I dont play as much anymore) Minecraft, ect. I like horror movies, my fav is Friday the 13th. I like all types of music expect country, EDM, and kpop (sorry its just not for me, not hating on anyone who does). I love all types of animals and have so much favorites but some include are, tanukis, foxes, horseshoe crabs. I like photography and practicing it as well as practicing volleyball. I like sanrio but my fav is gudetama. I watch lots of youtubers but my fav is definitely technoblade (rip techno ;( ). I like to cosplay and hopefully i can learn to make my own one day. Im not sure what else to say since I'm writing this was 1am and having the worse brain farts right now so I'll prolly but allot / most of my interest in the tags.

So I'll finish this off by saying that, I wish you guys could see my account and me as a safe place to talk and be yourself.. Even if I'm still figuring out how Tumblr works but uhhh go drink some, water stay hydrated, actually have a good sleeping schedule until me right now.. A = Affection (How do they show their affection?) The kinship type of guy. A lot of holding hands and smiling forehead kisses. Almost everywhere does he wrap his arm around his s/o’s shoulder. At a basketball game or something he will pack an extra blanket or jacket to give to them if they’re cold. He is very thoughtful about the little things in a relationship.

B = Breath (What could their s/o do to take their breath away?) Their smile. Seeing their whole face light up when they are happy or amazed. How their eyes sparkle and maybe their dimples show? It’s his favorite thing in the world. His s/o’s smile makes his aches go away and his day clear up. It clears his mental acne really.

C = Cuddling (Do they cuddle? If they do, how and when do they cuddle?) Huge cuddler. All the time. (See more at H)

D = Dream (What do they dream of doing with their s/o?) He would want to take his s/o to Chicago and show them where he grew up. Introduce his parents and show his partner around. Make them taste his favourite pizza, maybe a road trip? The open road (the highway to heaven....), sunsets and gas stations. Have midnight pancakes and black coffee at a diner!

E = Effort (How much effort do they put into a relationship?) This I am not sure about. I would say he puts in a normal level of effort. Pretty much the same amount as his s/o. He shows them they are precious and his most valuable thing in life but he won’t go full bonkers on valentines day or something like that.

F = Fear (What do they do if their s/o is scared? How do they handle it?) Johnny handles it very well. He is very educated and cautious about mental health in general so he would take every fear seriously. If his s/o is anxious about anything he will do his best to make a situation more comfortable for them or try to avoid the situation as a whole. G = Gifts (What type of gifts do they give their s/o? Do they want a gift in return?) Accessories. Johnny strikes me as a men who gets his s/o small things likes designer bracelets or card holders. Things they wouldn’t buy themselves because it’s unnecessary and expensive but if he knows they will accept and like it and most importantly use it - he will get it to them. And if they say they can’t accept he would say something like “It’s alright, don’t worry. I got a discount on it because I worked with them earlier this year.” Even if it’s a lie.

H = Hugs (Do they hug their s/o? How often?) Johnny is tall and he has long arms. Perfect to wrap around someone and should them from cold wind at a busstop or pull them in after a long walk in the rain. He knows how much his s/o craves those hugs and how protected they are feeling when he holds them tightly.

I = Intimacy (How romantic are they? Do they have problems with intimacy?) Has this man issues with intimacy? No?? Have you seen him??? I would be just as confident if I was him. J = Jealous (Do they get jealous? How do they act when jealous?) Jealous boyfriend right here. Johnny might act chill about his s/o hanging out with other men on days he is also available or seeing them walk out of lecture together on a day he wanted to surprise them by picking them up. He won’t let it show because it would hurt his reputation as LBBY (Laid Back Boyfriend of the Year) but his s/o will notice. Maybe by how short his answers are or because of all the questions he asks about that friend. Or maybe by the way he kisses them later that night. Maybe he also dislikes this side about himself because he knows he can trust them. K = Kiss (Are they a good kisser? Do they like to kiss? How often do they try to kiss you?) Johnny’s kisses are to melt for. Just the perfect mix of soft pecks and slightly rough ... idk how to describe it. He would randomly bite his s/o’s lips to catch them off guard and if they blush he will laugh about it and pull them into a long lingering and smily kiss ...

L = Love (When do they say they love you? How often do they say it? Do they prefer to say or show it?) Constantly. He will say it. He will text it. He will moan it. He will ask you “You love me right?” There won’t be a day his s/o won’t hear or read it or both.

M = Marriage (Do they want to get married? If so, what kind of ceremony?) In a committed relationship Johnny would think about marriage 100% but he doesn’t have to get married right away. Maybe ever. He strikes me as the kind of guy who is happy just being with his s/o. Maybe he will think different if they’re ever thinking about having a kid. But in that case time will tell.

N = Night out (What type of dates do they like to go on? How often do they like to go on them?) Goofy dates! Game nights! Haunted houses where his s/o clings on to him! Arcades and hours of dance dance revolution! O = Out of the Ordinary (What’s something they don’t normally do with/for their s/o?) I don’t think he would go to fancy restaurants. Not even for an anniversary. It’s just not his thing and this casual red wine at the river or beach is more his thing than make dinner reservations and letting waiters tell him what wine he’s having. I am not saying that he doesn’t do it at all - maybe he enjoys it on some occasions (when he has to impress parents for example) but overall with his s/o ... I think a chill open air wine tasting might rather be his thing. P =Playful (Are they playful in a relationship? If so, how do they play around/mess with their s/o?) He messes around all the time. He will make himself a bra out of lather when he’s in the shower try to seduce his s/o, he will mock the radio moderator and make up an semi-interesting newsflash about their breakfast. Q = Questions (Do they ask their s/o their opinion on things? Do they share theirs?) Loves to ask their s/o for their opinion so he does it a lot. Sometimes he even changes his decision if his s/o has some really good points or perhaps even better ideas. R = Random (How spontaneous is their relationship? Do they do things on the spot or plan ahead?) This man is so goofy how is he not random. He will wake his s/o up in the middle of the night just to go see the stars. He would make last minute dinner reservations and trick them into a dinner date by asking them if they come pick him up. He is so random and I love it. Though it would drive me insane. S = Sleep (How do they sleep with their s/o?) A lot of cuddles and soft temple kisses during the early state of the night or the going-to-bed/settling in but once everyone is comfy and tired they slew butt to butt. He jokes about that constantly. T = Trust (How much do they trust their s/o?) He lives off and thrives on trust. A relationship in which he wouldn’t fully trust his s/o is no relationship to him.

U = Unique (What makes them unique as a s/o?) Johnny radiates positive vibes, which makes him insanely attractive. He is so comfortable with himself and empowering towards literally everyone it’s as if you would have your very own personal cheerleader. With him on their side his s/o could literally accomplish everything. V = Vulnerable (How long until they can be vulnerable around their s/o? What are they like in this state?) He is pretty open about his feelings and concerns so I don’t think it would take a long time for him to talk to theyr s/o about everything. He shares his worries with a lot of friends/close friends but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s less significant when he tells his s/o. He might talk to a lot of people about things but he might only take advice from a few. W = Weather (What would he do during a cloudy and rainy day?) Coffee and galleries. A day with rolling thunder or just light annoying rain for him is the most welcome excuse to take his s/o for a classy museum tour. It doesn’t matter if it’s modern art or some good old fashioned photography. He would love to spend hours there and not missing out of anything in the outside world. X = Xylophon (What does he think about their s/o’s taste in music? Is it different?) If you they like the same music as he does - he would love it. But honestly he is such an open-minded man we would listen to anything at least once and even though he doesn’t like it would say something like ‘It’s interesting.’ On a car ride or something they would agree on something they both enjoy or put on a shared playlist and he would peacefully endure the songs he doesn’t like or enjoying them just as much because they make his s/o visibly happy. Y = Yuck (Is there anything that might bother their s/o about him? Any flaws?) So... we all know how much he enjoys coffee. Sometimes maybe a little too much. And we also hopefully all know the rules of basic hygiene and how you shouldn’t overdo it. What I am trying to say it that boy has coffee breath. He has so much coffee during the day that he can’t possibly brush his teeth every time. Not saying that he is dirty or anything. Just ... take a hint - pop a mint.

Z = Zeal (Are they passionate as a s/o? Do they want or like passion?) This man breathes passion. I honestly don’t think he could be with someone less passionate than him. More reserved? Yes. Someone who doesn’t take the lead? Yes. But someone lacking in passion is a no-no. I’m not even talking solemnly about passion in a sexual way. It also applies to interests or hobbies. Being passionate about a certain topic or sport, music, politics, ... you name it. He is the utmost passion able person and we all know it. Period.

Interpreting Nature Through Art – Blog #4

I interpret nature through art using photography. I have mentioned in some previous blogs that I enjoy photography and most of the time my photos are of landscapes or animals. As our textbook by Beck et al. (2018) states, taking a picture is capturing a snapshot in time. I am very sentimental, so photos are a perfect way for me to capture these beautiful moments in time. I am also very interested in painting! I am not good at it, but I very much enjoy it! I usually paint very simple landscape photos or cartoon animals. When it comes to my role of interpreting the “gift of beauty,” I share my snapshots of beauty in time through my photography. I have a photo website online that I share all of my images to for people to use for free with no licenses applied. This allows me to share my interpretation of the beauty of nature with people for free, allowing a more diverse group of people to have access to this from of interpretation.

Above are some of my favourite sunset photos or “snapshots of beauty” that I have been able to capture!

In addition, I had the opportunity to offer an “Art in the Park” program as described in our textbook. I brought all the art supplies to a random area within Marten River Provincial Park and had guests join in and draw what they saw. Sometimes I would ask them to close their eyes, and paint just based off of noises they heard, or create art made of materials found in the area such as rocks and sticks.

In chapter 10 of our textbook, I found the music section to be very intriguing. I started to think about how I can memorize hundreds of song lyrics but have a hard time remembering basic lecture material. However, when I use song to remember something, for example, the periodic table, I can remember it a lot easier. This made me think about all the songs that I was taught in elementary school to remember environmental processes, for example the water cycle song, or our solar system song! I am curious about any other cool songs people may have learnt in school or when exploring the internet! Feel free to mention some if you have any you would like to share!

What’s an example of private art school? I don’t understand the concept lol, genuine question! I’ve never heard of them and we don’t have them in my area

so there’s like, private schools and public colleges/uni’s, public ones being ones that are run by your state's government and have discounted admission for people who live in that state (their names are generally formatted like University of [State Name], [specific location name]; in the US UCLA aka University of California, Los Angeles is a pretty well-known example). Then there are private colleges that, similarly to private schools at grade-level, are more expensive alternate options that, while accredited, are run by private companies. Famous examples of this in the US would be Harvard, NYU, Brown, etc.

Private art schools are just private colleges that only have art-related majors: things like acting, graphic design, fashion, dance, etc (and sometimes, downright ridiculous shit like sculpting). some schools can be visual art-specific and some can be performing, but either way you earn a degree in an art field if you go there. My last anon - and a lot of other people - heavily associate these types of schools with excessive wealth, because first of all they’re private vs public, and second of all these degree are always “useless” in that it's never actually needed to pursue one of these degrees for a successful career in your chosen field. for example, someone who majors in teaching or engineering needs a degree to do that. but you do not need like, a ceramics degree to pursue a career in,,,,, making ceramics. So yeah, a lot of people just see it as BS/arts and crafts for the extra wealthy, but it’s not always. It proved v fruitful for Joe! I went to Pratt which is a very famous art school and majored in photography hoping I’d wind up on a similar lucky trajectory before I realized there was no fucking way it was worth tanking that much money just hoping it’d help me get lucky hdjkhdfgj

Some famous examples in the US are Pratt, Julliard, RISD (Rhode Island School of Design), or Berklee College of Music!

Do you have any fears you would rarely admit to anyone? Nah, I'm pretty open about what I'm afraid of. What website do you spend most of your time on? YouTube. What class in high school did you struggle with the most? I honestly don't remember with certainty, but it was probably math or economics. At least, I think econ was my senior year. What could you talk about for hours? Mark, meerkats, a few game franchises... maybe a couple more topics. Who is your favorite character from Harry Potter? I wouldn't know. Do you salt your popcorn? Yes. Do you have a Steam account? Yeah, but I don't have many games on there and rarely touch the ones I do. Do you like gaming? I do, but not as much as I did for most of my life. I mostly just play WoW now, and even that I'm not that into anymore. Part of it though comes from not buying any new games that I'm interested in because 1.) no money and 2.) no proper console, and you can only replay games so many times before you're just... yeah, done. The last person I actually stopped like-liking would be Girt, and that would be because I just came to the realization I saw him too much as my brother instead of boyfriend. I’m answering for the most controversial Montolvo child: Kassandra. All answers under the cut since this’ll be a LONG one!

🌹 Where in the world does your OC feel most at home? Is there any reason why? If it’s not the place they were born, where were they born? Is there a certain somebody that makes them feel at home where ever they may be? What does home mean to them?

Kass feels most at home back in Greece. She was the one that adjusted to the move to New Brando the worst, out of everyone in her family. Athens is all that she knows, and quite honestly she was happy to spend out the rest of forever there.

There isn’t really any certain people that makes her feel at home. So long as she’s with her family, that’s where home is for her and what it means to her. That’s part of why she reacted the way she did in regards to the divorce and Silas and Camellia’s relationship.

🍄 What are your OCs favourite snacks? Their favourite comfort food which always cheers them up when they’re down? Favourite meal to make? Do they enjoy baking and cooking and are they any good in the kitchen?

Kassandra is not the type of young vampire to mix blood in with human food to make special hybrid-like concoctions. She really likes sweets, especially cookies. Her all-time favorite snack, which also happens to be her comfort food, is kourabiedes (greek christmas butter cookies). It’s something she knows how to make by heart, all thanks to the years of making it with her father and siblings.

She enjoys baking, but very much NOT cooking. She believes in the whole “you’re either a baker or a chef. not BOTH” mentality.

🍁 Where does your OC go when they need to have some time to themself? Would they ever have their own “comfort corner” filled with all the things they like? Do they have a favourite spot outside that feels like its theirs and theirs alone?

Her room is her safe space. She totally would have a “comfort corner”. She kinda does, actually. Her nightstands are full of her favorite things (or they at least WERE her favorite prior to the last few updates): designer purses that were gifts from her mother, pictures of Greece and her family, and a journal. She doesn’t really have a favorite spot outside.

🍂 Does your OC enjoy hugs? What do they do as a show of affection for: their friends, their family, their significant other(s) or for strangers? Over all what are they like with recieving affection from others?

She’s been very... prissy, at this current point in the story. It takes a while for her to genuinely warm up to people. She’s an actions speak louder than words type of girl when it comes to affection, so she likes to do things for the people she cares about. Whether that’s doing them favors or surprising them with things they would like. When it comes to strangers, however, she can be very standoff-ish. She’s not all that great about receiving affection, though. Like.. genuine affection, especially when she isn’t expecting it. it catches her off guard.

🌻 What little things do they notice about people or the world around them that make them happy? What tiny little treasures do they find in the normal every day that makes the world seem a little brighter for them?

It’s honestly a little hard to think about what makes Kass happy, given she’s been pretty negative the amount of times we’ve seen her so far. She finds a lot of joy in pretty things, as superficial as it sounds. Very specifically, she likes pretty works of ancient art, from around the time her father was human.

🌾 Describe your OC through the eyes of someone absolutely head-over-heels in love with them

“Kassandra is... strong. She carries herself with such confidence and dignity. Every step she takes feels like she’s taking over the world. How amazing it must be, to be able to speak your mind and have other people listen. Sometimes I wonder.. if I’m even worthy enough to be by her side. I hope she knows how much she’s worth it.”

💐 How does your OC handle being unwell or forced to rest in bed? Who cares for them and in what ways? Does your OC enjoy being doted on or are they a terrible patient? Reversed: is your OC good at taking care of others who are ill or in need?

Kassandra absolutely refuses to stay still whenever she’s unwell. Usually it’s Silas who takes care of Kassandra, but if for some reason Silas isn’t there it’s always going to be her older siblings. She’s stubborn, but she loves to be doted on when you finally get her to just chill. It may come as a surprise, but Kassandra is actually really good at taking care of others. Considering she spent the most time with Serafina, she’s also studied the most under her.

🌿 What way does your OC show that they care without using words? What way do others show your OC that they’re cared about without using speech?

This was mentioned above. Actions always speak louder to Kassandra.

🌳 What is your OC’s favourite way to relax after a stressful day? Do they have a favourite book to curl up with? A hobby? Or do they have a nice bubble bath and have an early night to bed?

Kassandra loves a good spa day. After a stressful day, she puts on her music, takes over the bathroom with candles, flowers, and sweets, and has a nice bubble bath. After that, she’ll retire to her room, put on one of her favorite movies (she’s a sucker for romcoms) and do something like a face mask or her nails.

🌲 How deeply does your OC feel? Are they typically empathetic or do they have a hard time connecting with others in this way? What are they like when offering support and comfort to someone they care for?

Kassandra wears her emotions on her sleeve. She’s very passionate and everything seems to come to her intensely. When it comes to people she cares about, she finds it easier to be empathetic towards them versus a stranger. Kass’ way of offering support and comfort is trying to solve the problem, but sometimes, that isn’t an option. Or it can be the worst option: ie: the dinner.

🌺 What does your OC do to calm down when they’re scared or after a nightmare? Do they have any special comfort items or need to be reassured by a specific person? How do they handle this if they’re alone?

This may come as a shock, but Ajax is the one to calm Kassandra down when she’s scared. Growing up, their rooms were right next to each other, so he would always be the first one to react when she’d wake up from a nightmare. Nowadays, if Kass is scared in the middle of the night, all it takes is for Ajax to stay in the same room as her while she sleeps.

If she’s alone, she just doesn’t sleep until sunrise.

🌸 What are some of their favourite things and why? List as many as you can think of!

High fashion, photography, cats, the color pink, romantic comedies, sweets, the ocean.

🥀 How would your OC decorate a notebook or journal? What kind of things are written in there? Could you give an example of a nice entry?

Kass’s journal is moreso a journal of designs, given her interest in high fashion. It’s pink, filled with cursive handwriting and very neat illustrations with their respective labels. She’d definitely go over things with pen. Pencil is NOT allowed in her journals. She’d also fill her journals with pictures for inspiration. Moodboards, basically.

🌼 Who are this characters friends and found family? How did they meet, how long have they been friends for, could they ever be something more than just friends? What do they look for in a friend or a romantic partner?

These two have yet to be introduced properly, but will be in Season 2! Their names are Zaira Melendez ( @simpink ) and Roselyn Lu and they are Kassandra’s two most trusted best friends. Shortly after the Montolvo family moved to New Brando, Kassandra was enrolled into DB Academy, which is where she met the two.

Kassandra met Zaira first. It came at a time where Zaira was truly in need of someone who can guide her after the unexpected loss of her father. Kassandra just so happened to be that person, and the two lost souls connected with each other almost instantly.

It was soon after when Roselyn joined the two and they became a trio. Rose was just a quiet and shy student council student when Kassandra and Zaira stood up for her against a male student that was harassing her. Rose is Kassandra’s voice of reason simply because of her kindhearted nature compared to both Kass and Zaira’s sometimes brutal bluntness.

At the point of the story from when I’m writing this, they’ve all been friends for a little over 9 months now. Personally, Kass couldn’t see herself being with either of them romantically, given that she’s straight. But when it comes to a partner, she’s honestly just looking for a guy that will genuinely accept her, flaws and all.

💫 What is your favourite fact about this character and why?

So obviously I know a lot about Kassandra that you guys don’t know about yet. Without giving away too many spoilers, I honestly love the arc that Kassandra is at. As we’ve seen so far, Kass has been nothing but a rotten, spoiled, bitchy young teen. And just like any young stereotypical teenager, she thinks she has it ALL figured out about herself. But ooh girl, after the truth came out, her world has turned UPSIDE DOWN. She’s got a lot of soul searching to do, to put it simply.

Honestly? I don’t think I’d erase anything. Kass has had an easy life so far. The most traumatic things she’s had were the divorce and finding out the reason for it, which are two things that greatly affect her character. Without them, she just wouldn’t be the same Kass.

Unhuman Cinema

Recalling a First Peoples’ wisdom tale, this short film of an owl and fox caught on a surveillance camera is a fine example of recent Unhuman Filmmaking. It dates from Jan 9, 2019 and is known by several titles: When the Fox Met the Owl; Town of Cobourg Owl & Fox Video; and A Fox & an Owl Meet on a Snowy Night etc. Titles are little matter though – most works of art have no proper title; think of the Sphinx, the ‘Mona Lisa’ or Lascaux. Comparisons in film, to James Benning and the late Kiarostami, for example, sound academic here and rest only on a static camera – common for some duration in all films, constant in the basic works of Edison, Hepworth and Méliès. But perhaps any question of art is beside the point. All moves inside this unmoving picture. If several curious questions arise, most of them are inartistic.

Most edits run about 3.25 mins. (that is, from 1:54:55 to 1:58:16 on the top left timecode). It is night or just before dawn. Initially, we see the fox running down the snowy expanse of what is named the ‘center pier’ on the bottom text (we are along a quay in winter). The shadow of an owl flies over the fox, dipping low almost as if to hit or seize it; the fox sits a moment and watches the bird fly off out over the frozen water. The fox meanders awhile and finally runs off-screen, leaving a set of pawprints. Soon after, the owl flies back in from the sea and lands. The fox enters back into the frame and starts to hesitantly make half-circles around the sitting owl, which seems to ruffle its feathers a few times, almost like a fighting rooster. The owl follows the fox with revolutions of his whole body as the fox draws near and back in cautious semi-circles. The fox draws even closer, mingling their shadows, draws back and then starts, crouching slightly (this could be a flinch, a crouch to show the owl he means no harm, or a semi-lunge). The fox then walks off camera at a moderate pace, leaving the owl sitting for several seconds (this moment seems almost eternal). The owl then flies off, gaining altitude until he too leaves the frame. The pier is lit by several flood and street lights; there is what appears to be a convenience store to camera left, also well-lit.

When Gorky saw the Lumières’ film Repas de bébé in July of 1896, which features a stage chorus line, he memorably wrote: “Their smiles are lifeless, although their movements are full of living energy and are so swift as to be almost imperceptible. Their laughter is silent, although you see the muscles contracting in their gray faces. Before you a life surges, a life devoid of words and shorn of the living spectrum of colors, a gray, silent, bleak, and dismal life.” Like the owl and fox clip, these very early reels were initially shown silent. Almost immediately, sound and music were added in various ways, as marketing revealed that Gorky’s terrified feeling of watching the living dead was almost universally shared.

Watching a silent film silently is still an unnerving experience, yet When the Fox Met the Owl does not take place in a mute cryogenic zone. Onrushing wind and wings’ flap, howls and squawks (if any), a camera or light ballast hum – all of this would sentimentalize the scene. By making it ‘natural’, natural noises now seem to us like synthetic music or ‘room sound’ striped onto the product, due to the historical processes of film technology and audio theories over the last century plus. The silence of this film shows a silent real world, not Gorky’s muted future ghosts, which seems strangely to be beyond human hearing (but not human seeing).

The video was shot in the homeland of the Mississauga (Anishinaabe-speaking) peoples, later named Cobourg, Ontario, Canada, by white settlers. These colonials consolidated the town from several smaller outposts in 1818 – without asking the Mississauga about any of it of course – and named it after the royal Germanic House of Saxe-Coburg und Gotha, who currently occupy the English throne. Cobourg is known for rail and automotive works, as well ‘wealthy Americans’ – at least according to Wikipedia. The film itself has been credited to no one; there are two cuts: one right before the first appearance of the fox, and one after the owl exits the frame, marking the beginning and the end of it. The camera is not specified as far as I can find, so we cannot credit the film as (Untitled), by 4K Nocturnal IP NVR System with Eight 4K (8MP), for example. As for the position of the camera, debates on who is responsible for any camera angle rage between directors and cinematographers, as well as their fans. Here, an anonymous city or private technician is probably responisble. Other related works no doubt exist, shot on street corners and in lobbies all over Cobourg.

Interpretations of the action tend toward the confrontational, but what it resembles most is a ritual dance between the animal stars. The fox does not attack the owl, which sits quizzically in the center, but it does mysteriously circle the bird several times. Things look ‘to be continued’, like a snippet of an ancient relationship which has been interrupted by its own documentation. Anything further is unrecorded (or at least occurs beyond the scope of the camera), yet the action seems quite complete. It is still a popular hit, and deservedly so.

In Japan, the fox (キツネ; kitsune) is said to possess supernatural abilities, not the least of them, shapeshifting. Kurosawa’s film Dreams features one of these occasionally-vengeful changelings. Same with owls. Apache tales feature a Bog Owl Man; a Lenape legend has a hunter who unwisely betrays a vow to an owl; Eskimo myth pairs White Owl and Black Raven; a disrespectful boy is punished by an owl in a Chippewa pedagogic tale. Yet foxes and owls can also be good omens, depending on where and when. In all the worlds’ animal tales, no beast is ever one single thing – with the possible exemption of mankind. I cite only the most famous legends; wherever the fox is found, so is her double. But by collecting myths, perhaps we fall into an anthropomorphic trap. If fox and owl spirits are present, they might avoid of the camera and send their avatars instead to fool us into believing in something more than nature. In an epoch haunted by that darkest of suspicions – that we are all living after nature – animal spirits may feel any warning remains unheard.

And so too does any talk of a ‘photographic moment’ fall flat. The democratic side of photography allows anyone a ‘moment’ perhaps greater than the greatest practitioners of this weird art (especially after the advent of the Polaroid), which is an officious way of saying anyone can get lucky. Now even the despised CCTV gets a chance to invade that pretentious all-too-human ‘moment’, attributed to either mysticism or the genius of a solitary artist. What we have here is a kind of revenge on both the church of art and the church of technology, a ‘parody’ of both poxy houses. So who knows? Maybe the influence of the Trickster is there after all, not only on aesthetics but also on time and the marina.

When money came forcefully to replace the Sacred in art, it could not anticipate that the Everyday would rise up and replace both preciousness and market price. In some ways, the commodity value of a ‘film’ like this truly disappears, but not due to any human desire. It is more due to a loss of control over technics. The wizards have yet again called into being a power whose unintended consequences they can neither forsee nor command. Though human agency created the lowly surveillance camera, the invention has permeated daily life to an unimaginable degree, confirming the soul-stealing qualities Gorky and others saw in the first moving images. The watchers are being watched – but by whom? Not by their superiors in rank; not by the camera; not even by beasts, but by the terrifying blank wall of Technology itself. A great silent barrier producing nervousness, paranoia, an old lust for companionship and the nostalgia for loneliness... Occasionally too, something rare.

When the Fox Met the Owl can hardly be said to be influenced by any other filmmaking, not by Zapruder, David Attenborough and the naturalists or even wild ethnographers like Rouch. Aside from the recording medium film/video, it bears little in common with them. Anyway, the medium is now ubiquitous. The City of London is most monitored city in the world, yet it seems to catch nothing at all except the unpunishable crimes of bankers. The action in this masterpiece has taken place countless times over an infinitely longer span of time, which is why capturing it seems impossible but also unnecessary. Its ‘accidental’ being is why this most ordinary of films never ceases to startle and amaze. Its deserted genius exists by turning us and our automatic cameras into blind fools – cameras that record everything, an everything we paradoxically see less and less the more surveillance pervades an unsettled world. Eavesdroppers all, far outside the snowfall and the game.

interaction guide for alison!

***please be sure to read the note at the end of this guide pertaining to interactions with alison as a muse!***

alison is a complex muse. for the most part, i’d say she is pretty flexible with some limitations ( more on that in the note at the end of this guide ). slice of life plots, romantic/friendship plots, and generally lighthearted interactions are the easiest to start with alison, though angst certainly has its place as well under the right conditions. while alison is very kind, very loving, and overall a fairly soft type of muse, she is also incredibly strong ( not necessarily in a physical sense unless we’re talking about her spy verse ) and, in main verse, will not take kindly to being treated like a pushover. this is important to keep in mind so as to not baby alison and overlook the fact she has gone through a lot to get where she is now.

fashion-related plots — in her main verse, alison is employed by her aunt as a designer for her aunt’s clothing line. it’s not a huge label, but it’s fairly noteworthy, so alison gets to experience quite a significant chunk of the fashion world. as part of her job, she also assists in fashion shows and travels quite frequently to different cities, and in her free time, she runs an art and fashion blog and dabbles in sewing at home. needless to say, fashion inspires alison a lot, so meeting other muses who are involved in the fashion industry or who are also interested generally in fashion would be a nice way for alison to meet them. fashion plots aren’t limited to main verse, either — in high school and in post-high school verse, she’s always looking for ways to make a little extra cash, so if a good opportunity arises, she’ll take it. some ideas below include scenarios where your muse:

works in the fashion industry and meets alison on a business trip ( airport thread anyone? )

is part of a fashion show staff or is a model that works closely with alison ( imagine your muse wearing something alison designed though :weeps: )

needs their outfit tailored. this can be professionally, for example, alison doing part time work as a tailor to make a little extra cash, or casually, like alison is a friend your muse knows can sew and so they ask her to tailor as a favor.

just needs some fashion advice for a big date/event/job interview so they ask alison for input. on the same vein, alison can be your muse’s personal stylists as a job too !!

works in the same office as alison at the fashion firm and collaborates with her on a design

works in the same office as her and just hates her because your muse thinks she got handed everything to her bc the ceo of the company is her aunt

asks alison to design something for them, whether that be an outfit for a special occasion ( prom dress, wedding dress, suit, costume, ect ) or something for a fashion show!

art/music/photography related plots — fashion and art go hand-in-hand when it comes to alison’s inspirations and big interests. she dabbles in a lot of hobbies, and while she’ll go through phases where one interest may wane while the other waxes, painting, playing the piano, and taking photographs are three big hobbies that will always be close to her heart. my favorite plots involve alison being able to express herself creatively through her artwork, and allowing another muse to see her artwork is a fairly intimate interaction tbh just because alison doesn’t usually share much about her hobbies to others aside from “oh yeah, i do x,y,z for fun sometimes.” some plots under this category involve scenarios where your muse:

talks to alison about shared interests such as watercolors, sketching, photography, or music ( specifically piano )

encounters alison while she’s painting, drawing, playing the piano, or taking pictures. photography especially is a big one since she runs her fashion and art blog, and i wouldn’t put it past her to run like a food/travel instagram either so she’s always taking photos !!

asks alison to take their photo ( or a photo of them and their crew ) just because they can’t do it themselves and surprise it turns out alison takes some bomb ass photos

is alison’s art muse. this can be that they pose for a sketch/painting or, if we wanna get interesting, your muse actually allowing alison to paint on their body since i headcanon that alison experiments with body art to make some really powerful creations before photographing the model to add to her portfolio.

asks alison to be their art muse ( which, would get her v flustered bc she never thought she’d be someone’s muse, ever. but she’d also be very flattered ).

gets piano lessons from alison

asks alison to take pictures for their prom/wedding/graduation/just because they want a photoshoot !!!!

asks alison to play piano for their super special fancy event that has live music !!!!

post-high school verse plots ( trigger warnings may be applicable ) — post-high school is where the bulk of alison’s time as a sex worker is spent, either when she’s with her ex-boyfriend grant or after they broke up since she continues to do sex work to support herself even after she leaves him. sex work for alison includes a variety of activities including prostitution, escorting, and sugaring ( being a sugar baby ), so plots in this verse are not limited to sexual encounters. in fact, i’ve had a lot of fun discussing with other muns plots and relationships that started out in a post high school setting but evolved into a new canon for alison where she finds her footing and breaks away from sex work in a manner different from her actual canon!! in other words, post-high school verse is the point in alison’s life where significant events can really change the course of alison’s life, so interesting things can really come out of interactions started in this verse. this verse does canonically have a lot of triggers due to the nature of alison’s relationship with grant, but we definitely don’t have to delve into that dark side if you don’t want to <3 some plot ideas under this category involve scenarios where your muse:

is one of alison’s clients ( regular or first time ). being a client of alison’s is such a broad plotting point with so many possibilities that i’m just going to put some plot bunnies all in this bullet point: 1) it can be an instance of your muse paying alison to be their first sexual encounter for whatever reason you choose; 2) a misunderstanding where someone else paid alison to come visit your muse but your muse actually has no interest in sex with her. but maybe they could just hang out with her maybe? gives more sustenance to the plot than her just going home lmao but if she did go home it’s possible this mishap is a conversation starter when they meet again someplace else! 3) your muse could also just be really nice to alison and their encounters start to blur the lines between business, a casual relationship, and something romantic. in any case, they spend a lot of time with each other, so they get to know each other real well. again, can be romantic or no strings attached, though the latter will probably be difficult for alison in the long run. 4) your muse and alison regularly hang out and chat in exchange for payment or gifts; why your muse decides to pay for company is up to you. this plot has potential for a very pure sugar baby relationship, no sex needed. 5) tries to be a savior and financially supports alison so she doesn’t have to do sex work anymore, or at the very least, allow her more of a means to find her footing so that she can decide where she wants to take her life. these are just some ideas, but you’re never limited to them. a client/sex worker relationship doesn’t have to be a bad experience for either muses, and the basic idea i’m getting at is that the dynamic can be sexual or just your muse looking for company and some affection in exchange for money or some other gift. there’s definite possibility for platonic relations here since sugaring isn’t always sexual. whether or not grant is still in the picture can also impact this plot idea and change it radically too, so more options for you if you’d like!

is in need of a fake date/girlfriend. this can be a one time thing or a regular thing. to add onto this — if it’s a regular thing, a “breaking up” plot when alison decides to move on from being a sex worker is a possibility, and your muse can either handle this really well and support her decision to pursue something else, or they can freak out and things turn toxic because they become unhealthily attached and possessive of her.

attended the same university as alison and notices a few things. post-high school verse does include a short period in time in which alison is a university student, so it’s possible for your muse to have befriended her in a class, and as such, they might notice that she stops coming to class suddenly. they can then run into her a while later and asks her about it, or they can actually find out what kind of work she’s been doing somehow while attending school despite alison telling your muse she does something else.

talks a lot of shit about alison and spreads nasty rumors about her while she’s still enrolled in college, which kind of helps her find more clients but also just really negatively affects her image too ( and she confronts your muse about it )

high school verse plots ( trigger warnings may be applicable ) — high school verse holds the bulk of alison’s interactions with cedric and nate. this verse also has a lot of triggering details since quite frankly, cedric and nate are actually terrible people. heavy plots containing serious matters can come from this verse, but lighthearted school plots can also come from this verse! below are some some ideas in which your muse:

knows about how much of a asshole cedric is being to alison and tries to convince her to break up with him.

knows that nate is harassing/blackmailing alison and gets involved somehow.

protects alison during high school because bullies just love to pick on her for no reason, so they become her protector of sorts.

is one of alison’s bullies. can either run with the drama and use that to make life even more difficult for alison, or they can have a change of heart where they realize how much nate and cedric fucked over alison.

is one of alison’s close friends in high school; can be a classmate, an upperclassman, an underclassman, someone she only sees during clubs or at lunch.

is a teacher alison learns to trust and really confide in, especially when it comes to her life at home, her relationships, or her assault. can extend this plot idea out to older muses in general who alison may learn to trust!!

has a crush on alison uwu she may be dating cedric canonically, but we can work something out. it’s not like cedric was faithful to alison anyway—

royalty/aristocrat verse plots — alison does have a royalty verse with very, very, basic information fleshed out, but i’m not super attached to what’s written in her royalty verse. i mostly enjoy writing royalty threads with alison due to how regal she is in her mannerisms, so i really like writing her as someone with royalty status uwu. this sentiment can extend to plots where alison is some sort of aristocrat as well, but a rags to riches story ( or vice versa ) is also fun since that’s kind of what happens to alison and her family anyway in canon. so please consider plots in which your muse:

has a forbidden relationship with princess alison and the two of you have to keep it a secret and work through whether your relationship will last or not ( bodyguard/princess; princess/princess; princess/prince who isn’t the one she’s arranged with; princess/commoner )

is arranged to marry princess alison but she’s so anti-arranged marriage that she doesn’t even want to look at you let alone talk to you ( or the reverse — your muse just refuses to acknowledge alison )

holds the princess hostage for ransom ( could be money, could be something revolutionary like wanting the royal family to change laws to benefit the people )

helps alison conceive a child. as much as alison wants to have a child, conceiving a child can be incredibly difficult even under the best conditions, and with how much weight is put on a woman for conceiving the next heir, stress can make it even more difficult to conceive. so :eyes: how your muse helps her is up for discussion.

other verse/au/wishlist plots — in addition to royalty verse, alison also has an alternate verse, a werewolf verse ( note: this isn’t an abo/omegaverse setting even though i do draw elements from this verse ), and a spy verse. the wishlist tag is also another option if anything strikes your fancy!

alternate verse — this is a very general verse that essentially captures interactions in which the canon events of alison’s high school and post high school events do not happen. additionally, alternate verse alison was raised differently from canon alison such that she was not socialized to uphold traditional feminine gender roles. in other words, she was not discouraged from acting more tomboyish as a kid, and she was not raised in a strict environment that forced her to act a certain way and as such, alison’s trajectory in life is very different. alternate alison is more aggressive, more forward, and she can be a bit of a misandrist. she tends to be more social than canon alison in the sense that she’ll go clubbing, partying, and barhopping more readily, and her career path is a little less developed ( re: she’s not tied down to a fashion job and can take on all sorts of work depending on what makes sense for a thread ).

werewolf verse — a post explaining the basics of this verse can be found here! alison’s in this verse is a blend of canon and alternate alison in how she acts. because she was raised without a pack for most of her life, her only family being her brother, emile, alison learned to carry herself like an alpha even though she’s an omega, which leads to a lot of problems when she meets other, actual alphas who try to hit on her or take control. this is where alternate alison’s aggression can come in. on the contrary, canon alison’s maternal instinct and affectionate nature becomes apparent whenever werewolf alison decides to eventual settle with a serious partner, whether that be another werewolf she’s bonded with ( up to mun’s decision whether bonding is a thing in our thread ), or someone else she loves. i’d like to re-emphasize that this is not a true omegaverse even though i do categorize muses as alphas, omegas, or betas, mention bonding between werewolves, nesting, heat/rut, and the use of suppressants to control the severity of heat. the description of these topics, however, are very tame as the focus of this verse is not unhealthy power imbalances or plotless smut. this verse exists bc werewolves are cool, and also because the idea of bonding between partners is where i find the most interest since true bonding really embodies the “to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, until parted by death” sentiment in marriage vows except even to a more serious degree. so yeah — werewolves. have your werewolf meet mine. she can take care of yours or you know, keep them company.

spy verse — also known as handler and hound verse on this blog due to reasons. this is essentially an espionage verse in which alison is a rather high ranking field agent. she’s older in this verse than in canon ( 31 vs. 24, though her age in spy verse can vary depending on plot ), and is technically engaged to her agency assigned partner. this verse opens up the opportunity for morally grey muses to interact with her. the best way to learn more about this verse is to read this link which should outline all the details you should know about this verse’s setting, this link for a tl;dr ( not recommended ) and look through the verse tag for aesthetics and answered asks set in this verse!

miscellaneous plots — these are plots that don’t fall into a defined category for whatever reason ( mostly because they aren’t developed yet ) but i’d still love to explore them <3

future plot — i think about this a lot because i have such an immense love for alison, but i’ve headcanoned that once alison is older, she becomes a very big advocate for sex workers those who have been in domestically abusive relationships with a romantic partner. it takes her years to find the courage to share her story, but after years of volunteering at women’s shelters and doing charity work, she eventually finds her calling to take things a bit further. it’s possible your muse encounters alison during her volunteer work or while she’s a guest speaker sharing her story at some event. really though, i think it’d be interesting for muses to interact with alison when she’s a lot older since she’d have so much time at this point to process her trauma and, hopefully, seek the help she needs.

angel plot — alison is an angel and is very much one to stick by the rules and be good. a big contrast to leah’s angel verse in which leah is childish and does whatever the fuck she wants. angel alison is more experienced and is regarded as a good angel, but her curiosity about romantic love might get her into trouble.

childhood plot — alison is a tomboy who kicks ass; the older she is, the more feminine she’ll be ( unless it’s alternate alison, in which she only gets more aggressive ); your muse is an older muse or a fellow child who interacts with her ( male child muses beware! she’ll make you eat dirt if you aren’t nice to her or emile! )

single mother plot — this would straight up be a self-indulgent plot for me to be able to play alison as a mother. she absolutely adores kids, and while the circumstances in which she has a kid in this plot wouldn’t be ideal, she’d love her kid with all her heart, and this would allow your muse to help her raise her child, try for a romantic relationship with her, or maybe they’re the other parent??? just tossing thoughts around, i just really love alison as a mom :weep:

now that you’ve made it to the end of the guide, please read this important note about alison before interacting with her!

tl;dr — please respect my muse and don’t force scenarios that would not make sense for her to be in on me. she’s a fairly flexible muse, but i will not ignore specific, canon, character traits just to make a plot work. i’m open to discussions regarding how to make an idea work ( which includes perhaps using one of alison’s other verses ), but please don’t assume. also read her character bio — this is a must ( trigger warnings are included ).

like i’ve said before, alison is a very complex muse. i’d like to think she’s a fairly flexible muse but with some limitations as a result of her experiences. if you’ve read alison’s biography ( which you should have, and in fact, i expect you to since it’s very crucial to her as a muse ), you’d know she has been through a lot of traumatic events. as such, she has developed certain mannerisms, tendencies, and thought processes as a result of what she has been through. these behaviors, such as being very wary of men when she’s alone with them in a setting that goes beyond a normal, casual interaction ( e.g. a man ringing her up at a cash register at a store ), are engrained in her character, and it takes a lot of time and trust building for her to change any behavioral patterns she may have.

i say this to preface the fact that if you have any plot ideas you’d like to share with me, please take into consideration whether it makes sense for alison in her canon verse if that’s the verse you’re interested in. canon alison, in short, is not the type to form casual, sexual relationships. if this is what you’re looking for, look elsewhere. there are exceptions to this, but these exceptions have involved a lot of plotting to make it work and make sense. i could say more on the matter, but for now, i’ll just say that alison behaves very different depending on what period of life she is in. as such, canon/main verse alison behaves differently than post-high school alison, who behaves differently than high school alison. alternate, werewolf, and spy verse alison behaves even more radically different than the former three. so you certainly have options if you’re really interested in a specific plot for alison! i’m very open to ideas, but i ask that you also respect my muse and what she’s been through as well since i’ve worked hard on her backstory.

Congratulations on the release of Solid Ground- your voice and sound are very distinctive! Who are your inspirations? Thanks so much ladies! I have a very sporadic taste in music but I’m a huge fan of KATE BUSH// FIONA APPLE// FKA TWIGS// MARINA// M.I.A// CHARLI XCX//LANA DEL REY and the incomparable AMY WINEHOUSE I saw her live in 2007 at the Empress Ballroom and it was a religious experience it changed my life.it’s more to me than just creating music everything is informative. From visuals to lyrics to the production, it all culminates in reflecting your vision and making it interpretable I want to make a connection with people in as many ways as possible .

What’s your experience of being self-produced? How have you found getting collaborators, if any?

I’ve been very fortunate to have met my collaborator and co producer James he understands my vision and shares similar creative influences. When I’m writing for example I can almost visualise how I want the song to sound and we work together to translate that and turn it into a reality. I have also worked with Ted White who is Liverpool based. He is very professional, talented and very patient! He’ll know what I mean if he sees this

How did you start out as a musician?

I originally trained as an actress but music was always a passion of mine and I played piano when I was a kid, When I left drama school There was a huge creative void so, I wrote a poem a day to keep productive. I met a fellow musician named KARIMA FRANCIS through mutual friends, and she encouraged me to develop my skills and perform, I wouldn’t be here if she hadn’t have pushed me, she believed in me when I didn’t and I have a lot to thank her for.

How long were you making music before you got gigs? What was your experience getting gigs like?

I worked on my music for a solid year and then started to email promotors in MCR and Liverpool. I went to gigs and made contacts, if you want to be successful then you have to put yourself out there when you’re first starting out just be persistent and professional

Your style is unlike anything I’ve heard on the scene; do you normally fit in on a line-up or do you create your own? Does it matter much? What venues and promoters would you turn to?

That’s a very difficult question I think at the moment being so different is my biggest strength and my biggest weakness I’m yet to find where I fit in within the Liverpool scene however there are artists such as stealing sheep I have a tremendous amount of common ground with and have a lot of respect and admiration for. I supported them during their homecoming shows with @video and was so inspired by their passion and creativity. I’m definitely thinking about getting involved with an art gallery and putting an event on so watch this space, There’s a few good promotors here and it all depends on your vibe so I’d suggest looking up acts you like and finding out who’s putting them on. The boys at Harvest Sun have been good to me and I’d like to thank them for their support

I saw you worked with MerseyRail Soundstation; what was that like?

It was amazing I can’t thank Chris and the bido team enough, The workshops and mentors were very informative and they really cared about us reaching our potential and equipping us with the skills required to do so. I felt so lucky to have been selected and I’d advise anyone who is serious about music being their career to apply. I’d also like to thank Merseyrail for the free month of travel!!

What makes the Liverpool music scene stand out for you?

In some big cities there tends to be a lot of the same, you see fifty of the same band, I feel there’s a lot of jumping on bandwagons, In Liverpool there’s such a variety of genres and experiences there’s something for everyone. I think the creativity, and authenticity of the artists and crew is so diverse and forward thinking, There’s a lot going on in terms of independent festivals and we have publications like Bido and GIT documenting it all. It’s quite a unique city things are done a bit differently here, I suppose that’s why it felt like home to me. -What’s the best live music to see in Liverpool at the moment?

Pizza girl is smashing it at the minute and I love Callum Crighton and Beija Flo I really admire people who are creative and aren’t afraid to push boundaries.

Would you say there’s anything missing from the Liverpool music scene, something you’d like to see?

I’d love to see more gigs/events with representation from LGBTQIA artists on the bill snd more events run for women by women that’s why the work you girls do is so important! The future is female! Do you notice many women on the scene; not just musicians but technicians, promoters and so on? (In other words: Where are the girlbands?)

A lot of females in the blogging and photography sectors not so many in terms of managers,and sound/technicians.There’s a few bad bitches making waves in terms of songwriter/producers so that’s something to be pleased about.

The Art of Fake

Some quick Wikipedia definitions here to set the standards…

Art - A wide range of human activities that involve creative imagination and an aim to express technical proficiency, beauty, emotional power, or conceptual ideas. There is no generally agreed definition of what constitutes art, and ideas have changed over time.

Even this definition can be challenged to any level of accuracy of what art actually is.

Music - The art of arranging sounds, in systematic time, through the elements of melody, harmony, rhythm, and timbre. It is one of the universal cultural aspects of all human societies. General definitions of music include common elements such as pitch, rhythm, dynamics, and the sonic qualities of timbre and texture.

Video Production - is the process of producing video content for video. It is the equivalent of filmmaking, but with video recorded either as analog signals on videotape, digitally in video tape or as computer files stored on optical discs, hard drives, SSDs, magnetic tape or memory cards instead of film stock. There are three stages of video production: pre-production, production (also known as principal photography), and post-production.

This stems from a bulletin/generalized social media post discussing poser artists trying to defend spam marketing on social media as actual marketing. I kind of wrote the original post to draw out some of those people on my social media platforms, because I am tired of seeing so much desperate “check out my art” spam on the platform(s).

All the platforms...

I am not speaking to or about people who are/work in art or are inspiring artists themselves; but rather people that attempt to peddle art online, whatever it might, posing as artists/creators, but in reality they are either beginners or just people who do not know their craft and try to make money doing it because social media marketing aka network marketing is what all the college kiddos are doing now under the disguise that they are professionals and can make a quick buck doing this.

These people do not have marketing degrees and basically either joined upon one of those network marketing companies like; DirectScale, Herbalife, LuLaRoe, AdvoCare, V Shred, Beachbody, It Works! Granted most of these are fitness network markers but their examples are some of the best at describing the level of bullshit, woke, misinformation, car salesperson mentality you will ever see on the internet.

People who try to peddle artistic services of any kind online but lack any real artistic talent, value, and marketing knowledge to do so. My whole argument is just because social media provides avenues for artists to make a living, push, sell, promote their art, whatever-it-may-be, does not mean, open the flood gates for anyone who believes they are an artist. I have struggled my whole career dealing with this issue.

My Direct Messages on social media are flooded with people that claim to be an artist, a band, music, videographers, designers, fitness trainers, doctors, webmasters, photographers and they either want me to help promote that or expect me to be on board with that because of my generalized managing skills. However, their efforts are just shit. It’s all APP-driven now.

One doesn't even need to know how to read music to create music anymore or do actual, real, graphic design. Need that done, here is an APP for it.

Yes, I have an issue with this…

Not all peoples’ are like this, but a great very many are. Yes, this is an assumption based on my POV (Point of View) and experiences. My opinion, which is mine, not yours… The only data I have to really solidify my take is my POV and my ever-growing SPAM-box (inboxs full of spam messages). Those are the ones I am talking about here. Not your everyday artist just trying to get out there. There is a difference.

I actually have to search for good quality art/media these days because the internet is so flooded with fakers or people with very high self-inflated beliefs about their work and no one close to them has the heart to tell them it isn't good or even close to being on the same level as someone that works on this stuff daily for years of their life.

The people or person that is getting offended by me calling out the pink elephant in the room is probably the very person/people I am talking about. If one gets offended because they post a really shitty finger painting of whatever and they cannot sell it for pennies on the dollar that should be a really good indication that- that person doesn't have what it takes "currently" to be a real artist. Just like I am not a real writer. I haven't sold anything and when I do, then I can walk around and call myself a writer, till then, it will always be "inspiring writer,” not "professional writer."

Most agree with my assessment of the situation. When I only have to tell off/block one person out of many, that is valuable data to be considered. Not finding that one comment to support my narrative. That is what CNN/Woke Culture bullshit is all about.

It’s like Reddit. Reddit is great if you want a reply to a query. Any-reply-to-a-query… The issue is more times than not that response is incorrect and/or has nothing to do with the topic. It’s nonsensical… However, one did get a response and that is what Reddit is good for. One will always get one there. That isn't a good practice, but yet, that is the POV we live in- in this society of 2022.

I will not apologize for offending the hypersensitive people out there. I will listen to any counter discussion as long as one is willing to match what I have presented. Simply arguing for arguing sake just so that person, troll, whatever, can play devil's advocate to be heard, will-not-be-heard. They can spend as much time as they want, typing, yelling into their mic, or whatever.

Holding up air quotes and saying FACTS over and over doesn’t make a thing real or a fact…

I simply will not give that person my platform to rant on. Name-calling or trying to insult me, personally, will not work. I do not play the hate-baiting game. You will not get a rise out of me.

You will just realize that you wasted your time; which you only have so much of, is the most valuable resource you have and can never get back. One could say the same about me, but what most do not know is that I can type well. I type with a partially good hand and another that doesn't work so well. I am also over 60% blind, yet, I still can type around 75 words per minute on a computer. So before you flip that on me, I have spent much less time writing what I want to say than you have. Not all the time but a lot of the time.

Going back to APP-Mania here...

There are reasons why TikTok and platforms like it exist and it isn't to make everyone an artist/creator. If one is TikTok famous, it’s a joke, sure it is important to them and perhaps that little bubble of acceptance from other people. However, most people believe it isn't art on a serious level. It’s like fart/poop joke logic. Sure, one can get a good laugh there, but to be serious and call that an art form or marketing and they should be financially compensated for it. No, just no... We should not give people a pass in the arts because they can create. Anyone can create now in APP-Mania, no one is arguing that, but just because one can create doesn't mean or even imply that this is art and it deserves that respect. No... Quality overly Quantity, Quantity does have a quality all its own but not in the arts.

It’s just trashbag logic…

If you create, want respect, and get paid for those efforts, then become a real artist. Go get a real education in that field. Take a few marketing classes, not YouTube, two minute tutorials on Instagram marketing, and flood the Internet with that bullshit.

Most likely you will fail for a time. All real artists do, that is the whole point.

In order to be great at something, one must be a miserable failure at it beforehand. Jesus, did this whole woke generation not see Rocky I, II, and III, really?

In what reality do we live in where one does something the very first time and they are the best ever at it? Seriously? We call that a Savant and it is rare and it does happen but it isn’t that prevalent.

This is the whole point of struggle…

This is what sets the professional apart from the inspiring. People really do not wanna stay in their lanes anymore. They see something, they think they can do it better and try, if they do not get the response they want they just keep doubling down on that.

That is what failure is…

Why the Art community doesn't get that, well they do, the real art people do. They accept that and always get up, dust themselves off and get back to it. That isn’t doubling down. That is accepting you need to do and be better and making strides to make that happen.

I won't accept anything less than that. I have a standard. The bands I represent have a standard. The film people I communicate with have a standard. The Art people I support have a standard of quality and yeah, we should get a little irked by posers pretending.

I mean, cave art for example. It's shit, but for cave art its cave art, no one is arguing that, but it’s still just that, scribbling on a wall. At least cavebrats stayed in their lane.

About over these college kids believing just because they are in college, they know. No, they do not. They are learning. Always the student and never the master should be the approach of inspiring artists. Not the opposite. Yet, that is what we deal with on occasion in 2022 culture...

Analysis: MysMes V’s Route is genderbent Phantom of the Opera (the 2004 one)

Some of you may find this analysis to be a shitpost. Honestly it is. But I dare you to listen to all THIRTEEN of these Phantom of the Opera songs, read these analyses and tell me V’s route ain’t the same...

Analysis and dissection of the songs below (WARNING: SPOILERS FOR MYSTIC MESSENGER V’S ROUTE AND THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA I GUESS. Also THIS IS REALLY LONG SORRY).

HANNIBAL

Ray takes MC to Mint Eye

“This trophy from our saviors, from our saviors, from the enslaving force of Rome!”

“We greet the victorious throng, returned to bring salvation!”

THINK OF ME

V’s idealistic views on Rika and romance at the beginning of the route.

“We never said our love was evergreen, or as unchanging as the sea. But if you can still remember, stop and think of me.”

I could quote half the song tbh.

ANGEL OF MUSIC

V and Jumin (Madame Giry’s daughter lmao) speak about V’s talent, Rika, etc.

V: “[Mother] once spoke of [unconditional love], I used to dream [someone I could love like Rika would] appear. Now as I [waste my time with photography] I can sense [her]. And I know [she’s] here.”

The final exchange: V: “[She’s] with me even now.” Jumin: “Your hands are cold” V: “All around me.” Jumin: “Your face, Jihyun, it’s white.” V: “I’m frightened.” Jumin: “Don’t be frightened.” (in Jumin terms, “approach the situation and assume the worst outcome blah blah”)

THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA

V and Rika climbing into her dark dark lair.

Rika: “Sing once again with me, our strange duet.” Rika constantly tries to prove throughout the story that V has some sort of devil inside of him too, since to her that’s the only way V could understand her.

“My power over you grows stronger yet. And though you turn from me to glance behind. The phantom of the opera is there, inside your mind.” Rika’s darkness is darker than yours! And yet despite her devils, despite her atrocious crimes, despite V’s hesitations and regrets, it is his “unconditional“ love for Rika that stops him from acting at the beginning.

V: “Those who have seen your face, draw back in fear. I am the mask you wear.” Rika tells us quite plainly that she uses fear as a manipulative tactic on the believers. V masks all these crimes from the RFA.

Rika: “Sing for me!” Equivalent to how Rika is constantly demanding V’s unconditional love.

MUSIC OF THE NIGHT (lmao)

This song is Rika af...

“Night time sharpens, heightens each sensation. Darkness wakes and stirs imagination.” blah blah blah. Basically the sensuality of this song is just as enticing and persuasive as Rika is. In addition, the theme of this song is to romanticize darkness, and we all know Rika loves that shit.

“Open up your mind, let your fantasies unwind, in this darkness which you know you cannot fight.”

"You alone can make my song take flight...” A final line to Rika’s dependence on V’s unconditional love.

I REMEMBER/STRANGER THAN YOU DREAMT IT

V accepts loving Rika but sees more and more of Rika’s darkness. She lashes out.

Rika: “Damn you! You little prying pandora!” etc. Plenty examples of Rika’s verbal abuse.

“Stranger than you dreamt it, can you even dare to look or bear to think of me? This loathsome gargoyle who burns in hell but secretly, secretly...” Rika’s devil yadda yadda.

“Fear can turn to love, you’ll learn to see...”

PRIMA DONNA

Me: “Your public needs you.”

Also me: “We need you too!”

Ray: “Wouldn’t you rather have that precious little mint hair man?”

Me: “Saeran, no. The world, wants, you...”

POOR FOOL

Ray: “Poor fool he makes me laugh, hahahahaha! Ha ha ha ha ha ha HA ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ho...”

“TIme I tried to get a better, better half.” OUCH OUCH.

“Poor fool he doesn’t know... If he knew the truth, he’d never, ever go.”

WHY HAVE YOU BROUGHT ME HERE?

MC: “Why have you brought me here [to the RFA]?”

V: “We can’t go back there... [She’ll] kill you. [Her] eyes will find us there [at Mint Eye]... If [she] has to kill a thousand men... [Rika] will kill and kill again.”

“My god who is this [woman]?” MC: “My god who [the fuck] is this [crazy ex of yours]?” V: “Who hunts to kill? I can’t escape from [her]. I never will.”

“[MC] I’ve been there, to [her] world of unending night. To a world where the daylight dissolves into darkness.”

V: “Yet [my ideals on loving this dark person] filled my spirit with a strange, sweet sound. In that night there was [painting I guess] in my mind. And through [that white canvas painting with love metaphor junk] my soul begain, to soar! I [loved] as I never [loved] before.”

MC: “What you [loved] was a dream and nothing more.”

ALL I ASK OF YOU

MC: “No more talk of darkness, forget these wide eyed fears. I’m here. No one can harm you. My words [that the game programmed for us] will warm and calm you... I’m here, with you, beside you. To guard you and to guide you.”

V: “All I want is freedom. A world with no more night, and you. Always beside me. To hold me and to hide me.”

MC: “Then say you’ll share with me one love one lifetime.” (meh...)

Both: “Love me, that’s all I ask of you.” (I think this one is a stretch given the timeline of V’s emotional development, but oh well, I think maybe the feelings were growing even if the words of love and declarations weren’t?)

Bonus if you have sympathy for Rika: the All I Ask of You reprise. Rika: “I gave you [the blank canvas you wanted]. Made your [art] take wing. And now, how you’ve repaid me. Denied me and betrayed me... You will curse the day you did not do! All that [Rika] asked of you!”

MASQUERADE

RFA member: “Dear, MC what a splendid party!” lmao

Everyone: “Masquerade! Paper faces on parade! Masquerade. Hide your face so the world will never find you...” This song is about how festive and happy things seem on the outside, but carry or ignore evils underneath.

WISHING YOU WERE SOMEHOW HERE AGAIN

V’s feelings about his mother...

“Wishing I could hear your voice again, knowing that I never would. Dreaming of you, won’t help me to do, all that you dreamed I could.” V’s dreams of painting are unrealized until the good ending (idk about that musician business).

“Too many years, fighting back tears, why can’t the past just die!?”

“Wishing you were somehow here again, knowing I must say goodbye. Try to forgive, teach me to live, give me the strength to try!” V’s rejection of his artistic urges, his mother’s suggestions and encouragement to let him explore art.

PAST THE POINT OF NO RETURN

Rika: “You have come here, in pursuit of your deepest urge, in pursuit of that wish which til now has been silent...”

V: “Past the point of no return, no going back now, our passion play has now at last begun.”

“When will the blood begin to race? The sleeping bud burst into bloom? When will the flames at last, consume us?”

Both: “The bridge has crossed, so stand and watch it burn. We’ve past the point of no return...” sobs loudly for Saeran.

Rika sings her All I Ask of You reprise and pleads her love to V once last time.

V and scooby gang unmask Rika and her crimes AND THE RFA IS DONE WITH HER GG.
