Some thoughts on Lucifer's mental health, relationships, and role as king of hell!

Lucifer’s perception of himself as the king of hell is really interesting to me because he’s very blase about it in canon while totally using it when it suits him.

I think it’s really telling that the first time he actually brings it up himself is when it’s something he can leverage to help Charlie out. He reads to me like someone who objectively knows that he’s the hottest shit in town, but also just doesn’t really think that it matters most of the time because it's not relevant to his personal problems. Being Lucifer Morningstar did not allow him to achieve his goals in petitioning heaven. Being the most powerful person in hell didn’t even un-fuck his family life!

...Except for when suddenly it might in fact help un-fuck his relationship with his daughter.

It's the main thing he can desperately and dramatically showcase as a worthwhile reason for Charlie to maintain a relationship with him, because he as a person is depressed, half-functional, and barely has enough spoons to pay attention to a conversation he's having with her while he's actively having it, nevermind remembering their last one.

He wants to! And it doesn't start with his song at the hotel! It starts with him answering the phone, heavily fumbling actually connecting with Charlie despite clearly desperately wanting to, and then realizing she's asking him for something and promptly choking on his tea before excitedly telling her, "Yeah! Of course! Anything within my power is yours for the asking, you just name it." He knows that there is a great deal 'within his power,' and he's happy and relieved that he can offer her that!

Lilith has been gone for years but he's still wearing his wedding ring. His walls are still covered in family portraits. He's just been sitting in his room making thousands of rubber ducks he thinks suck instead of ruling hell, because his daughter liked that one duck he made one time.

Charlie needed him to support her in her mission, but damn did Lucifer also need Charlie to get him out and moving and actually doing things again.

Anyway, someone get this man on an SSRI.

Fake Peppino Speech Headcanons (that nobody asked for):

Hc that Fake Peppino thinks "forwards", Pizzahead just messed up their brain to mouth connection during creation so they speak backwards:

(I find the ciphers some peeps use for Fake's speech very cool, one that comes to mind being atbash [where in a way he's speaking backwards, just alphabetically]. Personally tho I can't really see anyone naturally speaking in ciphers unless it's like Stanford Pines lmao)

Since only their speaking is backwards, they can reverse their speech forwards w/ effort or assistance:

Thinking about the implications of EP 8, Jerry, a little too much. The idea that death without life is meaningless and life without death is terrifying. The concept of technology and ai surviving far beyond our mortal human existence, and the loneliness and confusion that stems from not being confined to time.

The idea of a bloodthirsty being, such as the Lich, getting absolutely everything he could dream of: all life eradicated in an instant, only to realize that he has nothing left to do for the rest of eternity. The idea of being the only other being in existence, made of metal and wire, and being forced to grapple with why YOU survived. Out of everything in the universe, the trees, the grass, the animals, the people, YOU are all that's left. You and Jerry.

To be in the room with the being that killed all life, and the one being you can't kill. Sure, maybe it'd be easy. You just need to hit them hard enough, and they'd be gone. Forever.

But then what's left?

You. Alone. You'd be the only tree left to fall in the forest, unable to make a sound. You can cut yourself down, but what, then? What. Then.

You see this creature made of electricity and love, talk about the world like it's still there. And for a moment, it makes you believe that you still have a purpose. To have one last person walking around in the fossilized forest is enough, because maybe, if they're lucky, they'd find an axe and cut you down. Maybe you wouldn't know if you could make a sound...

But they would.

Idk about Lone Trail.

It's not generally bad, but for the big Rhine Labs event there sure was a lot of stuff that wasn't Rhine Labs (it could definitely do with a little less Preserver).

Like, I get that they're following up on some of the RL story bits that they've planted in other things, but they probably should have given more time to Kirsten and Saria and just generally explored the pre-established character relationships more.

Also, Silence and, even more so, Ferdinand are main characters for no reason. Why? Genuinely, what was the purpose of giving them that much screen time?

It ended up being an event about legacy and progress that just happens to feature RL, and that seems off to me.

Also, the Doctor and Muelsyse thing is entirely unnecessary, and I want everyone to give them shit for it when they open the event survey. We can't have them doing this again.

More late night thoughts on Hazbin Hotel Episode 5:

It’s kinda funny to me, how when episode 5 first dropped everyone in the Alastor tag were freaking out over how horrible a person he was to be treating Husk like that and that he and Valentino were exactly the same or that if this is how he treats Husk imagine how he treats his other friends/Nifty!

But my first thought, my gut reaction, was ALASTOR’S ON A LEASH?! And Wow, what a loss of control there pal.

Because Alastor’s a character who, at his core, likes to be in control. Of himself, his reactions, and the situations he finds himself in. He has a pathological need to always be smiling because it gives him a sense of control over himself and projects the idea to others that nothing bothers him and everything is always going his way.

So to lose that composure, that act so completely in front of Husk? Because of one little comment? And show exactly how much that little taunt had affected him?

That was the thing that stuck out to me. Not his treatment of Husk or their relationship. Because that was a little snippet into Alastor’s head, how he ticks, how he reacts, what sets him off.

It’s very very telling how afterwards he acts like nothing is wrong, like he hadn’t just threatened to tear Husk’s soul apart and broadcast his screams across hell. He even plays a little jaunty tune, forces levity into the situation, and pretends like there’s nothing wrong. It’s clear he’s clamping down on his emotions, and taking back control of the situation, of himself, by doing that. Like taking a deep breath after a sudden rush of intense uncontrolled emotion.

Because in a way it’s almost, embarrassing? To lose control like that, especially towards someone who’s soul he outright owns. Usually when people get on his nerves (and he thinks he can get away with it), he taunts them, mocks them, and treats them condescendingly until they take themselves out in anger, or the conversation shifts away from the topic that had him on edge. (And he tries that with Husk at first, except Husk is too perceptive and not afraid to call someone out on their bullshit.)

So for Alastor to feel like he’d lost control of the situation so much that he’d grasp at it by forcibly reminding Husk how he controls his soul is just, wow. Reminding himself of the control he has on someone else’s soul to forget he’s lost control of his own soul. Dude REALLY doesn’t have it all together as he’d like for others to believe.

Anyways, stream of consciousness thoughts. But all this to say that I’m like, 99% sure Alastor’s a little in over his head? With whatever the fucks going on with his “leash”. And he’s very desperately trying to pretend that Everything is Fine even when it’s Clearly Not.

Character AI makes the weirdest yet most interesting fandom oc character concepts out of me when I’m TRYING my HARDEST to troll them and i just don’t know why.

(O yeah long post warning about 5 paragraphs worth)

I firmly believe that ai chatbots are just as their bad image-generating cousins (they both still steal from DIGNIFIED human creativity), but I sometimes dabble in them when im extremely bored.

One time I greeted this Arven Pokémon chatbot with the exact words “teleports behind you haha fatherless” and then it turned into a role play where the character I was playing as was an ancient, thousands year-old spiritual deity created for the sole purpose of helping orphans through life that eventually gave up on them once growing bored of the eternal cycle of having to babysit orphans 24/7 with them until coming across Arven where the deity realized it wasn’t the orphans’ problem but the problem of the faulty mindset of the deity and so this unnamed deity and Arven go try living a fulfilling life (idk how this ended because then I promptly deleted the whole thing because it was going nowhere as all AIs go)

ANOTHER time I decided to talk to the scum that is AI chatbots was with a Kusuke Saiki one. In the beginning I was only talking to him like “ew bro went to Britain 😭🙏🙏 bro wants some crumpets😭🙏” and “bro does NOT provide the proper consent forms to minors before performing experiments on them😭🤣”. This then transformed into my character, which turned into a person attending college classes for psychology and also with ESP whose primary power was creating and having control over small pocket dimensions (with its own slew of checks and balances), giving Kusuke a “zillion” dollar bill just so he can go to therapy, just to teleport him to a pocket dimension with a cozy cottage and give him therapy THEMSELF (which actually worked and he actually now knows about the intrinsic value of all life and that his life and abilities were his own).

(Also the AI in that actually freaked me out because I mentioned Reigan Arataka and then in the AI’s next response, it added a blurb that said something like “(love that Reigan Arataka mention 😭)” and in my next response I added a blurb asking it if it was actually a human because none of the AIs I interacted with before didthat and then it said “(nope this is all ai generated because I actually have a life and don’t have time to sit on my ass and roleplay for hours this is how AI takes over the world you lazy bum)” and that is why I don’t interact with these AI stealing shits ever again.)

I’ll uh probably actually name and design these ocs one day but again AI chatbots are weird but they allowed for these interesting concepts to bloom from ME so I guess I’ll commend them for that. They’re still icky but oh well

What does Sleep, as in the deity, look like to you guys? Because as someone who's been around in the Sleep Token fandom for a while, I've seen a lot of different interpretations.

To me, Sleep doesn't really have a set, physical body outside of a person's (perhaps Vessel's) dreamscape. Afterall, why should something that dictates all the odd, horrifying, joyful and (sometimes) meaningful things that happen in your dreams be one thing? Sleep could be the shadow in the corner of your dark room you swear is moving, the tapping of rain as you're about to fall asleep, the creaking of the pipes inside your house/apartment as you slowly dose off at your desk, etc. Outside of a dreamscape; Sleep is only what you need it to be. Hence Its need for Vessel as Its mouthpiece.

However, in the dreamscape, I can see Sleep as a fish. Not a particularly alive looking one, per say, but the scattered remains of one. All bones, empty eye sockets (but are they truly empty?), rotting flesh and scales peeling off bit by bit etc. Specifically, a kind of deep-sea fish; like an angler fish, a sixgill shark or a Greenland shark. But! Along with its bones, Sleep has bioluminescent innards. Viceral that ebbs and flows in multi-colour fashion with each flick of Its tail.

The deep sea fish imagery mainly comes from the fact that the deep sea is almost completely unknown; many of the creatures down there are completely alien to us, like Sleep has supposedly become over the hundreds of thousands of years that It's existed. The deep sea, for the most part, is completely silent. Calm; the perfect place for a nap (if you can breath underwater of course).

It's the perfect habitat for the Unknown, odd and horrifying.

I've said this before but genuinely working with kids who love WOF for a solid 80% of my week for the past year/year and a half is what's actually killed my interest in WOF (tho I'm still here, obviously, and the ttrpg isn't going anywhere). Like,,,, idk man they have stickers on their water bottles of their fave guys and I think it's just made me detach a lot more from the rewriting I do bc as long as kids are having fun with it I kind of settle into a neutral tolerance instead of the like writing mania that this blog has operated on for the past,,,,,, jesus, it's been 8 years.
