At this point you’re the weirdo with an incest fetish for insisting catradora are siblings

this is something i've noticed in other fandoms as well, especially recently, but it's definitely prevalent in the spop fandom which is that.. if you dislike an evil or complex character, people automatically assume that it's because you're media illiterate or “you just want perfect heroes”. which is just such a WILD conclusion to jump to, just because you heard someone say that they don't like a character.
and yeah, i see people using this for catra as well.
“oh you just don't get how complex and layered they are”, “you don't like realistic female characters”, “you're homophobic because you want queer people to be pure and innocent” or MAYBE.. just maybe. i do get how complex and realistic and tragic they are but,, they're also annoying??
like i have a lot of gripes with catra as a character because she wasn't well-written but even if she was, i'm allowed to dislike her. it's called having an opinion. you don't have to like a character just because they're complex. these are the same people who think that they're superior because they like complex and tragic villains, as opposed to classic evil villains. it's really not that deep, i promise you.
and before you call me a hypocrite, i don't have anything against people who like catra. i like certain aspects of her myself. i only point out the instances where people make excuses for her behaviour or romanticize her toxicity. that's it.

⚠️ DO NOT GO AFTER AND DO NOT HARASS THE PERSON FROM THE SCREENSHOT ABOVE.
how the hell would catra be "morally grey"? she LITERALLY:
- destroyed villages;
- was responsible for killing a lot of people, including glimmer's mother;
- attempted to destroy the whole universe;
- abused many people, including adora;
- kidnapped adora and her friends, drugged adora without her consent, tried to kill adora multiple times and all that while laughing/with a smile in her face;
- was a war criminal!!!!!
she's also not "complicated". she could be a very complex character, but it can, at most, be confusing to understand her character if you fell into the "c//a narrative". she was badly written, her development is non-existent and her "redemption arc" is terrible. all that can make her a confusing character for those who like c//a, confusion which may be mistaken as complexity.
the comments can be worse tbh. there's people denying everything catra has done, saying stuff like "oh c//a antis won't survive the winter"... not to mention the tags used. this person was really aiming at us.
these people simply do not realize that catra (and even spop in general) is poorly written and then proceed to blame it on us for some reason. 🤷

i'm losing my mind how are there STILL ACTIVE CATRA HATE BLOGS it's been FOUR YEARS how are you still this mad about a female abuse victim!!!!!! how do you STILL not get it!!!!!!!!!!
I have been in enough fandoms to understand that some of the people who stick around the longest are those who act the most scarred after watching the media. It's like stockholme syndrome. Or it's like hating the thing is what gives them drive in the world.
I have also been on the other side of this. I remained a Homestuck blog for a whole four years after the ending made me depressed about Terezi Pyrope, even lasting an additional year and a half after the dogshit epilogues released, through to the demise of Hiveswap and Homestuck^2, before I realised enough was enough and let Adventure Time give me sanctuary again.
But Homestuck had its Gamzee fans who hated the comic and fandom, Adventure Time had its Lemongrab fans who hated the show and fandom, and it seems She-ra has its fair share of antis.
The She-ra antis consist of the following groups, from my observation:
Former fans who got obsessed with some other show and have to bash She-ra because it ain't cool anymore. Usually Owl House fans but can be from anywhere. Their hate is universally connected to propping something else up, and is never done in isolation.
Hordak fans who hate Catra and maybe every other character and crew member and the show. There are a lot of the reverse, Catra fans who hate Hordak, which is part of why this group is so persistent, as a "counter" to this Hordak hate. However, the Catra fans who are Hordak antis MOSTLY do not hate the show (they are just... out of touch with it and generally have bad takes). I've seen one or two extreme cases of Catra apologists accusing Adora, Scorpia, and even Entrapta of abuse, but they were completely alone in their feelings. The Hordak fans who hate Catra tend to also hate Glimmer, Mermista, Adora, Bow, and say that the show is ableist or whatever, but they do not actually harbor much love for Entrapta. Her victimisation is an excuse for their behaviour and they have no understanding of her chaotic character. Do not interact.
Glimmadora fans (the ones who purely seem to exist to make 'Spop Is Abusive' posts). Why the fuck Glimmadora fans hate the show so much, I do not understand. But these are probably the most In-Your-Face of these three groups. While the Hordak fans mentioned above have a lot of similarity to Homestuck Gamzee fans or Adventure Time Lemongrab fans in the weird way they'll hate on the show for doing their blorbo wrong, Glimmadora fans don't have that evidence because they don't really care about Glimmer or Adora. They have absolutely nothing to say about the show, other than that it is Bad. My theory on these Glimmadora fans is that they really liked the Glimmer and Adora ship on a superficial level, and then the show decided to have its Deeper Themes and give Catra and Adora a messy, complicated relationship. There was a lot happening after season 3 where people went "CATRADORA IS REALLY ABUSIVE AND CATRA IS HORRIBLE AND YOU SHOULDNT SHIP HER WITH ANYONE". This period was SO fucking harmful to the fandom that it never recovered, so much work was lost and deleted from AO3. People would say "Glimmadora is a much better ship anyway". But then when season 4 rolled around and, uhh, Glimmer was acting like a little shit all season (for good reason but she really fucked things up with Adora), and Glimmadora crumbled into ash? Well the Glimmadora truthists felt like the show was working against them and that Season 5 was a grand conspiracy to make the Abusive ship Catradora canon!!! The funniest part of this is I sympathise a lot with these feelings. I used to be a Glimmadora truther myself when I watched the show in fall 2021. I was like, "wow, look how nice this ship is. And they go with catradora in the end?? Fucking HOW???". But then seasons 4 and 5 happened and.... yeah, I was disappointed with how Glimmer and Adora's friendship ended up, but I was ENAMORED by the messiness of Catra's character and how raw her and Adora felt about each other even in spite of all the bullshit. I never made excuses about the show being abuse apologising. I analysed it purely in how believable the relationships were and what the intentions of the characters are.
Of these groups, the ones responsible for the most actual SPOP Anti blogs are undoubtedly the Glimmadoras. The only time I've seen something similar, so many antis appearing, was because of Steven Universe ship wars. You have NO IDEA how petty people feel about Lapidot, Amedot, all the dots, all the amethysts. A crew member was chased off the internet over it, or left the internet over the show's own decisions, depending on whether you believe the """screenshots""" that were taken of Zuke's ""private blog""".

i understand the audience at large wanting more fantasy-diverse casts in high fantasy shows ( largely looking at SPOP and the anti community here ), but even if the designers really didn't want to do that, their designs still could've been interesting by having an actually diverse cast.
like, look at pokemon. there's thousands amongst thousands of human characters, yet at least 90% of them look distinct and have features, colors, and clothing that make them stand out from their specific group(s). sure, there's patterns, but that's bound to happen with how many they make.
or, for lesser known media, kipo and hilda are shows with good character designs, human and creature alike.
even with low budgets ( which was p obvious in the show, i don't know why people still say it has a 'beautiful art style' when it's very generic ), it's not impossible to have good, simple, effective designs.
and! the concept art for SPOP had better designs! if you look up the concept art for adora's princess prom dress ( i don't have too many issues with it, i'm just someone who likes a little flair ), she has her hair down in most of the sketches and i'm p sure one of them is the dream outfit ( which means that they've had this design for ages and just didn't use it until s5, for some reason ).
and the SPOP bible just has a better look for adora, catra, and glimmer, imo, especially adora. her hair is so cute! and the outfit was the original with minor changes, so people who shame the original for 'sexualizing minors' ( they're adults, idiots, and they were never in compromising situations for no reason ) can shut their trap cuz nate literally did the same thing. by the looks of the designs, if i had to guess, they were older as well, at least 18 and up.
so, i don't believe that a lower budget means that they have to have a generic style or designs, esp since the show does have the occasional nice one ( young teen catra, lonnie, shadow weaver imo, mara, light hope ).
i don't know if i'm recalling this correctly, but i feel like one of the reasons mara is a good design to me is cuz she has a different nose.

I'm curious - was the term "poor little meow meow" a thing in fandom (in general) already or was it introduced into the lexicon after catra appeared and became popular?
(the saturation of c/a injecting itself into the fandom market and the comparisons of their dynamic to literally everything else is a whole separate topic but I am curious about the terminology).
Thanks for the ask anon! Honestly, I'm pretty sure it was introduced when the spop anti fandom started appearing. And the term "Poor little meow meow" fits well with Catra since she's a cat. She's also portrayed to be sympathetic despite her being a horrible person.

answer every question on the proship ask meme POP QUIZ [or is it pro quiz??] i wanna knoooooow
Tumblr media Tumblr media
@teacupballerina @hopscorched @emile-hides
sorry it took so long to get to these! gonna post em all together and give two answers where it makes sense since some of these are repeats!
1.) What is your favorite problematic theme/trope that appears in a lot of your ships?
its literally so basic in the grand scheme of problematic stuff, but i love a teen girl x older man, especially when she's in charge lol. i also like things like 'damning secret' (basically people going through forced proximity because they both know something they'd get in a lot of trouble over if it got out) or just forced proximity in general also a fan of one of the characters going insane with covetous love and lust that drives them to do all kinds of fucked up shit about it and also! a handy chart of one of my All Time Dynamics, kid x creature (im counting pompep)
Tumblr media
↷↷↷
2.) Are there any problematic tropes that squick you out?
i dont really like anything involving cheating, DV, or hardcore rape/assault, feels bad man
3.) First problematic ship since you joined the proship community?
tbh ive never really Not been proship, it was the only logical thing to me, so this answer is kinda tricky- i guess i could say when i Actively started interacting with other proshippers? but tbqh i dont really remember sorry jklfsdk
4.) First ever problematic ship? (you didn't have to know it was problematic then)
quiche and ichigo from tmm is literally whats wrong with me it fucked up the chemistry of my brain when i was like 12
Tumblr media
5.) Ship you don't think it all that problematic, but the rest of your fandom hates?
idk if this really counts Exactly but im baffled to this day by the divide the ML fandom has over the different love square dynamics, please explain to me how every combo is good and wholesome, except for marinette x chat noir, which is somehow bad and degenerate, like even the people working on it make jokes about it like what do you mean its the same gd people???
some others come from spop, where people will try to convince me that hordak x entrapta is abusive despite being one of the healthiest dynamics in the show, or how bow x glimmer is Practically incest cause they. grew up together??? spop discourse was Nuts
6.) Cutest, most vanilla ship you are into.
hmm probably my crossover ship for berry and adrien, they're downright saccharine
Tumblr media
7.) Ship the antis in your fandom like, but you think is hella problematic?
Absolutely no hate to the people who like these but oh my god yall there are others but these are always the first two that come to mind
Tumblr media Tumblr media
8.) Ship that is (presented as) cute in canon/fanon, but you think is problematic anyway.
kinda just the same ones i just listed tbh
9.) Problematic crackship?
as someone who deals almost Exclusively in rare pairs and crack ships, most of them lmao but if we're going with like. Probably Worst all across the board, its whatever is going on with cedrιc, elyοn, and phοbοs from w..i..t..c..h the depravity that we never got to fully explore with these three is off the charts
Tumblr media
10.) Are there any problematic ships that are your NOTPs?
i do not care for wιllιam x mιchael aftοn- p sure its popular in fnαf proship spaces but im just never could come around to it other than that i cant really think of any- usually i only notp things because the fans piss me off about it, and i dont generally have that problem with other proshippers
11.) Darkest fandom you are into?
im really into old rpg horror games in general, and Those get Super Dark, so probably that!
12.) Least dark fandom that you are into!
sοfia the first, but rest assured im Making it problematic
13.) Rec a dead dove fic!
im so sorry but put on the spot, every single fic ive ever read and held dear has suddenly totally absconded from my brain and i cant recall literally any of them
14.) Song that reminds you of one of your pairings!
here just have some playlists i put together for some of them so i dont have to choose anything specific: Grim x Mandy Gaz x Zim Mabel x Bill Snufkιn x Jοxter and my general problematic playlist you'll like em
15.) Silliest reason you've been told not to ship a ship.
'its not canon' is the dumbest shit i've Ever heard and yet somehow is super pervasive in fandom

Hi ❤️ I'm the anon who send that question about your opinion on the Ben's gf reveal, and thank u so much for the answer! Abt the part I use the word "painful", i was talking abt that if the reason behind the gf mention was revealed to be just a way of trying to "shut up" that "gay theories" it would be painful bc we know is a thing that happens in some medias. I know is just a reaaally low possibility, but I wanted to mention that too bc we know it happens in some stories.
I mentioned that possibility bc I really like jwcc queer rep but I always try to remind myself that it's still a show so they're not immune to censure and bad stuff that happen in this kinda of media. I remind myself this so it's not that painful if happens, that is way I used that word, but I do know it isn't that probable in jwct case! (and yeah, like u I don't think queer rep in jwcc is painful or anything)
Totally agree that the subtext thing is really subjective, so I was talking more abt the fact that the ppl in production probably knows that fans see a lot a "gay subtext" on him than saying that I think that the subtext is canon. I never had a headcanon for Ben through, my whole anxiety was just bc of knowing all this context and not knowing if the whole gf reveal will go to a chill thing or not.
I don't know much about the inside production of jwct like you, so my fear is just based on how medias sometimes deal with queer characters in general... That is why I LOVED your analysis, oh and sorry for the long post, hope u're doing fine!
hi again! :D thank YOU for sending in that ask, i really do love talking to people lol
i hear you on being fearful about censorship 😭 even if you knew about the production of the show and the people involved with it (which ... it's not like i have some sort of intimate understanding of everything that goes on, i just follow a lot of the team members on social media ^_^;) i think that's a valid thing to be scared of. media has made a lot of progress in terms of queer rep in the last decade, especially in the realm of animated TV shows primarily aimed towards kids/families, but that doesn't mean artists don't still have to fight for the inclusion of that rep. i wasn't super into she-ra, but i do vaguely remember its creator ND stevenson talking about how much he had to negotiate with dreamworks just to make catradora a thing (if someone can find me a source on that that would be incredibly appreciated), and that was as recently as 2020 (if we're measuring by when SPOP's final season aired). that was the same year JWCC premiered, and two years before yasammy would be made official. a lot of doors had to be opened to allow JWCC/CT to be as gay as it is, basically, and that status isn't always going to be guaranteed.
but if i can ease your mind any further: JWCC S5 received a lot of backlash online, and even one of JWCT's early access IMDB clips drew scrutiny from anti-woke conservative types because it dared to portray a diverse cast of characters. that didn't stop a large portion of the crew from digging their heels in and defending their show, though! plus, yasammy are still together, and JWCT shows no signs of rolling back on their queer rep for the sake of appeasing a certain group of people.
so, to go back to ben having a girlfriend ... i very much doubt that such a choice was made out of malice, or to "shut up" any theories about him being gay (generally speaking or in the "i, as a man, exclusively like other men" way). but like you said yourself, there was already a veryyyyy low possibility of that happening.
tysm once again!! no need to apologize for the long ask—i usually give long answers anyway. and i'm doing well, hope you are too! 🫶

so these somehow got lost in my notifications (they're from March 23) but these were all left as replies on my re-watch posts for the She-Ra episode Shot in the Dark
And @1023sstuff ...you vastly misunderstood the point of the post???? It wasn't meant to be a serious review??? It was literally intended to just be squee and dumb jokes???? I know I didn't put the disclaimer on EVERY post of my rewatch but I did put it on a lot of them: they were, in fact, intended to mostly be squee and dumb jokes. I originally started my rewatch to refresh my memory of the show for a fic I'm writing. There's a few bits of something closer to meta or analysis on some of the posts, or talking about how some of the plot points relate to my own life and experiences, but that wasn't the point of these posts.
If you wanted to make your own Serious Post about that episode or the show in general you're free to do it on your own blog, but it's extremely bizarre to find a random post that clearly isn't doing a serious critique and then criticize it for....not being a serious critique.
"The person only seems interested in what the characters are experiencing" Yes, you are correct. That was in fact what I was doing.
Edit: lolol in the first half of my rewatch post for that episode I actually SAID that anti-spop blogs need to get a life and go touch some grass, the IRONY

I really wanna start an anti catradora blog since there are so few but idk where to start, can you please give me some tips?
Well! First of, I'm very excited that this side of fandom will be getting another participant, and second of all, I'm very flattered that this question is going to me! I'm always happy to give some support xoxo!
All of my tips are going to be from personal experience both from my time generally engaging with fandom, and running this particular blog.
/ / / /
1 ) Try to be polite.
Yes, you will get people who disagree with you. The very existence of anti-fandom implies that we are not the norm. The majority of our main fandom already disagrees with us. And they might be assholes about it. Don't tolerate rudeness, but also, try not to feed into it, either. Not only is it terrible for mental health as the blogger, but it perpetuates this idea that the blogger in question reacts to negative attention. Which, if you've been on the Internet long enough, you know very well how quickly negativity breeds if it's allowed. Positivity breeds too, so I think it's in anyone's best interest to simply... Not be an asshole. Even if it means being the bigger person for a moment.
2 ) Pick and choose your battles.
"Battles" is a melodramatic way to put it, but I'm only using it because it's a well known saying. Anyway, this part is from the first part. So... the thing about being "the bigger person" is that... it doesn't always happen. I definitely don't let everything go by me without snapping at it sometimes. Well, I just think it's funny. I used to think it was way funnier in the past, too. Sometimes anon hate/fandom takes are really stupid and it's hilarious to share. But if it's not funny, insightful, or you simply don't want to engage... Don't engage.
3 ) Connect!
Anti-fandom is still fandom, and I personally treat it as such! There's still art to enjoy, stories to read, discussions to be shared. Community is not necessary, but when I was first putting out anti-c//a posts it really helped me to know that there were people that like, didn't think I was insane for pointing out things that bothered me! Especially since my choice in writing anti-c//a/crit fics is not an easy medium and well, to be honest, sort of requires that I know someone out there enjoys the fruit of my labor.
Yes, spop antis are limited, but go say 'hi' to the people that are open to engagement! We're mostly pretty friendly, and in my opinion, open-minded.
4 ) You are required to have an "on the nose" blog name.
NO, okay, I'm being totally facetious! Obviously, name the blog whatever you want, I just laugh when I see a new anti blog and it's something like "catra-needs-jail-time" or "catradora-is-dogshit". They're a handful of bloggers like that, if you want more to follow (the two I just named are jokes... As far as I know).
The real advice to be clear that your blog is anti-catradora/critical; or whatever other stances you'll talk about often. Nothing personal if that's not what you want, but make it easily found that you're not open to certain things, or you are open to certain things. I.e. I think that C//a are pretty obviously adopted sisters canon, and that point is very purposefully the first post on my blog (has been for two years), so no one is surprised when I start ranting about sister!c//a in particular.
5 ) It is never, EVER that deep.
Part of anti/crit blogging is that there's salt involved. Ranting, sharing things that frustrate us, being annoyed with canon... But also, it's really not that deep.
If I would have got this question two years before, I would have not added this part. But yeah, no. Part of why I run this blog still is because I know it's simply not that serious... People will steadily find my blog and the others in this community, and they will come around to their own conclusions on their own time. There is no trying to convince someone else on a POV that they simply don't want to see. There is no war against anti fandom and main fandom (though, some will have you believe otherwise).
The bloggers that are still active and open about unpopular opinions in 2023 are not people that stress themselves out or respond to every braindead take, they're not people who get attacked/overwhelmed by stans very often, they're not rude, they're not close-minded-- actually, I would go as far as to say that they're extremely fucking chill about this hobby. Passionate and dedicated, but self aware and self-respecting of mental capital/health.
And so, that'd have to be my last piece of advice.. Chill. It's just not that deep. And if it ever becomes "deep"... take a million steps back, and give yourself that space to recuperate. Your mental state is infinitely more important than an anti-blog, and no one will judge you for taking breaks or anything as you'll need them.

Is it just me or i feel like that there arent any aroacespec characters on spop
nah. spop was too focused on romantic relationships for that. it's a pity honestly because regardless of being aroace or not, there were a lot of good platonic relationships in the show that were sidelined in the end in favor of rushed or toxic relationships.

Antis?
I am wondering, since I had an embarrassing snafu of reblogging - and subsequently deleting what was apparently intended to be a shipping art that had lost its tag by the time I'd seen it, what constitutes an "anti" in this fandom? (In my defense, the art did not contain any kissing, sucking or nudity, nothing sexytimes). I do not simply see two characters together sharing emotional moments or aggravation at each other and automatically think it's a ship unless specified and didn't see any apparent joking or vibes. Maybe it's me being non-neurotypical. I've blocked the artist so as not to upset them by reblogging their work when I do not share in their ship-bubble. In any case, it was tame and falls into my SFW - "sometimes I'll reblog a ship art" rule on my pin. But, I am left if I am wondering if qualify as an "anti" in this fandom's specific measure of the term? I do not like Plantcest. I like them as brothers. I am willing to see "Plantcest as one-sided" in terms of Knives being kind of twisted up inside, but I'm not into Knives and Vash as mutual ship at all. I just get an "ew!" reaction to it. I can talk about my own personal issues regarding incest ships, but I won't. Sometimes things just don't float your boat. Does that make me an "anti-Plantcest" person? But what if I don't believe in harassing anyone or making a big deal of it? What if I don't want to make big fandom essays about everything that's "wrong" with it because I honestly just don't care? My reaction is merely personal and the only essays I have are rants about how I think sex-stuff in this fandom in general is too abundant and I'd like to find more gen? I don't think that Plantcest people are "wrong" or "bad" or that it's "a bad ship" - I just don't personally like it. Does this mean I'm not an "anti" then, because I am chill? I am wondering about the definition here just because, well, coming out of Spop fandom, the antis for any given ship (or individual character) were...very anti. As in, essays about "why this ship is wrong and why the people who ship it are freaks," or "why shipping adjacent het ship puts lesbians back" or "why only shipping the main w/w is bisexual erasure" and blah, blah, blah, along with essays about "liking this character means that you agree with his/hers/their bad morals means you support colonial ideas / are an abuse-apologist," etc. And pro-character / shippers for specific ship and the "antis" used to have anon-ask wars and make anti-memes and it was a whole thing. Thank Rem I haven't seen that in the Trigun fandom (yet). By that definition, I don't consider myself an "anti" because I'm like "ship what you want, knock yourself out" - but I wonder I might be defined as an anti because I am also like "I don't ship it and let's stay on our own sides of the playground."

rebranding.
.
hey, everyone!
gonna have a talk with y'all for a second.
this was something i've been kinda mulling over for a long time, to varying degrees. for around half the year, maybe longer?
at first, i wasn't sure if i wanted to just deactivate from this account and leave it in existence whilst never touching it again, or if i wanted to delete everything altogether and never resurface in this light again.
but after going through some stuff, thinking about things, and wondering what would make me happier, i've made a decision:
this account won't focus on spop anymore, but rather making my own remake for the original 1980s' she-ra. it is likely i will still bring up spop here and there, make comparisons and such, but this won't be an account centered around criticizing the show.
there's a number of reasons that are all personal to me, so, please, don't think i am attacking you if these reasons ring true to any of you to some extent. reasons being:
generally speaking, i've been unwell and have been set back a few steps in terms of recovering.
i personally feel too old to keep this going for longer than i have been ( i started this in october of last year, i believe, so almost a year since i started this account, but i've been making anti content for even longer ).
i don't feel as connected to the characters i defend. i love adora, bow, angella, kyle, etc. but the flaws that is this story have exhausted me. i don't feel quite as attached. rather like they are a memory of my life that i don't want to return to, but appreciate for what it gave me.
this sounds petty ( and it is, but the pettiness wasn't intentional at the beginning ), but i kinda found another show that deeply disappointed and enraged me for a variety of reasons ( might make posts about it sometime ).
and, despite my previous point, i would wanna make content that i know would make me happier in the long term, rather than letting some steam off in the short term, if that makes sense.
so, by the end of this week, i'll basically be a different account. none of the posts will be deleted ( even if i wanted to, i made too many, haha ), but posts that were made to be a series will be discontinued from here on out, and i won't be responding to the spop related messages sent in my inbox.
as for my spop ocs, i most likely will either make content of them very rarely, import them into my she-ra remake, or put them in different universes entirely. haven't decided.
thank you all, so much, for your support and love and for trying your best to help me through some pretty bad times.
i love you guys <3

Welcome to Tumblr, Spop Fans!
Having seen a pretty decent post about the need to be welcoming to the tumblr refugees... (regarding how some of the nastier groups are always welcoming to new potential members, therefore decent people ought to knock off the “get off our lawn!” crap).... in that spirit, I’ve decided to give a little rundown of how things work on here for this specific fandom.   Okay, so She-Ra and the Princesses of Power fandom - a contentious place.  We all have our favorite characters and ships and also our NOTPS and characters we hate.   Having been here a while, well, the Spop fandom on tumblr has developed a certain etiquette to avoid drama.  It is not always followed.  Those who do not follow it suffer the consequences.   If you have a rant AGAINST a certain character or ship - you’re just talking about how much you dislike them or how much you think the creator-crew messed up their story-arc, or you hate the way their fans behave and have a “don’t trust fans of X-character!” rant or even BASIC ANALYSIS that is critical of a character or ship, the common convention is to please tag your post (tags are at the bottom of the window when you post, labeled “#tags” - you can put anything there you want), do not, I REPEAT, DO NOT put the character’s name / character names / ship name plain in there!   You need to put “anti-”  If you are critical of Catradora, for instance, or you dislike Hordak, you HAVE to label it “anti-catradora” or “anti-hordak” to avoid trouble.   You may still run into trouble because sometimes tumblr reads an anti-tag as a character-tag.  Generally, if you have an “anti-” tag in there, you have an alibi if tumblr screws up.  Usually it will not show up in the regular character-tag, but on the chance that it does, you can point to your original post or screenshot it with the tags and show people that you’ve tagged it correctly.   This is something that has developed in the fandom because people who enjoy characters and ships and want to search for something positive - fun fanart, fanfics, happy analysis - well, we like to be able to search clean and not have to deal with the negativity of people who are dunking on the things and characters we like.    THIS IS ENFORCED.  It is not necessarily enforced by tumblr, but it is enforced by the respective fandom-cliques.   Post an anti-character rant tagged with that character’s general tag? YOU WILL BE DOGPILED.   There are people here who make sport of analyzing “bad takes” and having a field day arguing with people and putting people up for ridicule and callout posts - sometimes with stalking and screenshots.   Sometimes even someone who enjoys a character making a silly joke about them will have their joke taken the wrong way and will get dogpiled and might even run the risk of getting labeled this or that “phobic” over the misunderstanding, or at least labeled as not respecting the character / ship or their fans, even if it’s furthest from the truth.  (I’ve seen it happen). So, use those anti-tags or maybe don’t tag at all if you’ve got such a rant.   Now, I don’t think this stuff goes on as much as it used to - the fandom mellowed out a great deal in the last year or so, but just in case some of you birdsite-refugees are coming in and are simply unfamiliar with the tagging-system here or some of the divides in the fandom, I’m trying to put forth tips to keep down honest misunderstandings.   Purposeful trolls, well... I’m just hoping people in my fandom will be mature enough simply to block people they don’t like (but I doubt it until some screeching has passed).  I’m not looking forward to it.
For that matter, if anyone has anon-ask enabled on their Asks-box (I do not on any of my blogs. You have to use a signed account as I got some obnoxious asks), do not abuse the privilege.  If you actually harass someone over their fandom opinions, they will very likely take away anon asks or asks altogether. Those who don’t are probably drama llamas and I suppose they leave themselves open to what they get.   That brings to mind another thing:  New account? If you want people to send you Asks, you have to enable that in your settings.  You have the option from there to Allow Anon Asks (in which case people do not have to sign their accounts) or to disallow it.  If you disallow it, all asks to you must be signed (therefore if you get someone obnoxious, you can block them.  You cannot block anons, you can only delete them instead of answering them, but you will still get them in your inbox). YOU HAVE TO DO THIS FOR ALL YOUR BLOGS.  If you run sideblogs (such as what I do for different fandoms and different interests - freedfromthegalactichivemind is not my main), you have to work your settings specific to every blog.  If you block someone from your main account, for instance, but do not block them from your sideblog, they will be able to see and respond to your sideblog.   Anyway, I hope that this is helpful, but in general and in specific to this fandom. Please manage your Asks, use character tags and anti-tags appropriately, and be careful out there.
