Brushes maybe?
I’d love to figure out how you render that way ur stuff is so good! Any advice you could give maybe? The texturing is STUNNING
Hi! Thank you :] To be fair, I'm not sure where to start as I have multiple ways to draw things, but I'll try. (Also I might show more if you choose an example if you had any specific brushes in mind)
For most recent art my favourite brushes that were used in rain world fanart have some color jitter. It's a feature that can be enabled in clip studio, but I'm sure that other programs have similar setting.
Tumblr media
When I'm less confident in general execution of the idea or have many details to pay attention to and want to take things slowly i like to use oval marker brush. It doesn't have any texture and has somewhat soft edges so i can work from very loose blob of sketch. Its flat shape that doesn't turn with the movement allows me to "chisel" out the shapes and volume in the drawing. That's why many prefer using flat brushes instead of round.
Tumblr media
Sometimes I straight up sketch with thin brush for lineart and clean excess lines so it looks like lineart instead of drawing one over the sketch layer from scratch. This hoverer requires a lot of practice and generally clean confident strokes so I resort to it rarely and use it for more stylised cartoonish things. Tip: you can also duplicate lineart and blur the layer and lower its opacity so the whole thing will look more interesting and less sharp.
Tumblr media
And then there's this thing :) not sure what to add here other than that they're pretty.
Tumblr media
As for the advice hmmmm… Probably I'd say that many brushes show their potential if you adjust your style to each, like you'd usually do with traditional medium. While keeping one favourite consistent style may be comforting, and I respect that as drawing should be what brings you joy, sometimes experimenting might be useful for you. I do have limited amount of styles for some of my favourite brushes and don't go as crazy as I could, but sometimes it feels more satisfying to let the brush guide your process with its shapes and textures instead of breaking it into your already existing pattern. At least that's what I've been enjoying recently :) Keeping up with developing multiple styles might distract you from learning other aspects, so to choose what's better is always up to you. I wish I'd had more in-depth advices on how to render in general but figuring it out was a complex and long process for me as well

I'm relatively new to your blog so I apologize if this has already been answered (I couldn't find a recent ask on it and couldn't find a FAQ page to make sure I wasn't asking something that'd already been asked) but may I ask how you get character face shapes down so accurately? Even your sketches seem like they have highly accurate character facial proportions down to a science, and I was wondering if you use any specific methods for that (such as Reilly or Loomis method for head-drawing) - 1/2
Tumblr media
No need to apologize, I've never been asked this before!
So to answer your ask, I think it's important that I tell you that the characters I draw on my blog are characters that I have been drawing non-stop for more than a year, so I'm kind of used to their facial structures as far as like ease goes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So it's just natural progression at that point.
On top of that I keep a bunch of references of them, including their 3D models and multiple Pinterest boards. For example, the reference I used for the middle one was this:
Tumblr media
Nowadays I don't really use 3D references and when I do, it's only loosely based on them. But when I started out, it was a great tool for me to learn face structures and difficult angles. I have files of me tracing the models' faces and then drawing them from scratch, that I haven't shared online because they were for me to practice, but those really helped me with studying faces and how they look from different angles. For the third one, the only thing I really referenced was myself and my expression (as well as some face features i.e. my nose and eyes). As my style and understanding of facial structures progressed, I became more comfortable giving Daud some of my Southwest Asian features while also trying to keep him recognizable (e.g. his hair, his ears, his narrow chin).
The greatest thing to come out of these exercises and fanart is that now I have a good grasp on faces just generally. My OCs now don't look flat and all of those 3D studies really helped me understand proportions and feature placements better. So my advice to you would be to just practice with 3D models if you can, the trick is to really think about what you're doing tho, and pay attention to proportions and structures.
For expressions, I really just use myself as a model, or go to Pinterest and search up what I want. Usually, I don't need Pinterest for this though, my parents will just walk into my room and look at me doing all kinds of facial expressions in front of my mirror. Sometimes, TV shows are REALLY good expression references too! Some good references might just come at you from the places you least expect them to.
As for my sketches... they might look clean but they're not my initial sketches. Often I will have multiple layers, and I usually tend to just clean up my sketches instead of doing lineart, it just ends up giving me a more natural look at the end.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
No matter who you talk to, they'll say that my initial sketches are incomprehensible, but as long as the sketches makes sense to you then there is no problem! I usually find that loosely sketching the idea before it disappears from my fleeting memory helps me capture the mood, no matter how bad it looks lol. I then try to rationalize it but drawing the face by creating the circle first and then the cheeks and jaw, as well as the ears. I then go onto sketching the features which I will then clean up for the final version.
I think that coloring the face is just as important as sculpting the sketch. Light sources and shadows can help really articulate certain features and show the face's depth better. For that I usually use this tool right here as reference!

It's free and it's super useful!
I hope that this answers your question a bit!

hey yall, updating my commission post
ive got a steady night shift job at this point and it is paying me pretty well! im still trying to move out but i have the money for that - so instead,
im taking commissions for donations to important causes (explained below)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
ill just spell the gist out here:
send me proof (a receipt, screenshot of bank transfer, etc) of donation to any sort of important current event org (this could be tied to the blm movement, preventing AAPI abuse/harassment, environmental protection, or supporting any number of countries dealing with environmental crises/food shortages/droughts/etc; this is obviously a non exhaustive list)
the more money sent as a donation, the more bang youll get for your buck, so to speak
under 10$ and youll get a fairly clean sketch; 10-20$ and itll be a proper cleaned up lineart piece, and more complex pieces are encouraged; 20-30$ and ill add flat color and a background; 30-35$ and ill add simple shading; 35$+ and youll get fully rendered color
the more complex the piece is, the more itll be worth. so if you just want a clean lineart piece but want more than one character, or the character has a super complex design, try to donate closer to the upper limit (say 18-20$)
NEW: animated commissions, once again depending on size but ESPECIALLY on complexity and length, can be anywhere from $20-50 (i wont be taking animated commissions for donations at this time)
all commissions prices are on a sliding scale and if the piece wanted is worth more than youve donated for, ill either request you downgrade your request or donate enough to push your request to the required bracket. these donations are all up front, so ill want proof of the donation before i accept the commission.
WILL DRAW:
fanart!
ocs!
furries!
some gore!
nsfw! (contact me on twitter @saturn_s_moons; MUST be 18+)
WILL NOT DRAW
mech (im just bad at that level of detail and machinery)
heavy gore/guro
r*pe/inc*st/underage/loli/etc etc etc you get the drill and also if you ask me for this i will probably just straight up block you!
support local indie artists and your community! participate in mutual aid organizations and donate to those in need if you can!

1. Destiny’s Playthings  (here the english translation)
Destiny’s Playthings is a original story I’m writing, wich is based on an idea I had for a very long manga when I was a teenager. I tried to draw it when I was young and did like 4 pages and gave up because it was too ambitious. 10 years passed, not doing anything with it, and then I decided to write it as a ilustrated book instead of as a comic. I don’t think I’m specially a good writer, and is harder for me than drawing, but I’m can’t be prouder of anything than this story. I always feared I left proyects behind, but I’m happy to know that no matter how many years pass, that I can just pick them up and give them life. I didn’t start this on 2020, but it was this year when I finished book 1 (with 29k) and had half of book 2 written. And I’m so happy!! My teenagers ocs are alive!! I have like 10 people reading my story and commenting on it!! It’s the best feeling ever, and this story make me really happy and really helped me survive this year in the worse moments. It’s something I’m doing 100% for me and in honor of teen!me and it just feels nice to do something 100% appealing to yourself.
Anyway the story is an action/adventure medieval fantasy story about 2 characters, Dorward, a man accused of murdering the king that runs away from the law with his best friend, and Vainilarinne, a young girl that lost her parents (they are not dead just in another place) and helped a man about to be hanged to escape his execution, believing him to be innocent.
2. Fake Trailer Glee Animatic - If I had my Time Again (Kurtofsky/Sebofsky)
I always dreamed of doing all kinds of animatics but I NEVER finished any of them! Then like some kind of energy spirit possessed me and I did this in like, 2 weeks. The experience didn’t repeat itself, sadly, but I really had fun doing this fake trailer animatic of one of my fave characters ever, Dave Karofsky from Glee (he has 0 screentime in the show but he is a main character in my heart)
Also it was so fun to do!
3. Edeleth Kiss Animation (FE3H)
I learned animation to make my fave wlw ships kiss. That’s my power that’s why I have it that will be how I will use it. Also I discovered how to do coloring with sketchy lines and I’m so fucking happy cause I hate doing clean lineart unless people are paying me for it.
4. Luther vs Gravity (TUA)
I had a friend telling me they didn’t like Luther until my cute fanarts of him where she saw him in a new light. I’m just drawing him to push my agenda of Luther love to convert the haters, now you know my secret. Anyway just for that I’m like hell fucking YEAH the power of cute fanarts
5. I can’t choose anymore is too hard
Ok now in the 5th part I’m really like “I love all my drawings equally” so I’m just going to leave here my OCs tag and also my TUA fanart tag cause I have done so many of it and also a Dave Karofsky art tag cause that was my year basically
Now I tag @ktfranceebee @starkurt @sambuclay @animaliae @missnnobodius and whoever wants to do it because I like seeing your cool art and writing and stuff again >:3

Artist Meme
Was tagged to answer this set of interesting questions by @kourvo
(original post is here: https://kourvo.tumblr.com/post/621355098110640128/artist-meme
Thank you so much for that!
Let’s see....
1) What is the character you've drawn the most (Can be original or fanart)
This precious boy. I can never get enough of him. One of the most compelling characters I have ever come across. Love everything about Fenris and can relate to him on so many levels!
Tumblr media
2. What colour do you often use?
Gray and brown are my faves. And all other colours have the same chance of appearing in my artwork :D
3. Any colour you are bad at using?
I don’t think so...I love them all, even the pinks and yellows people usually find hard to incorporate into a colour palette. Tell me in the comments if I’m wrong :)
4. When drawing people, where do you start?
Funnily enough - either with the front of the hairline or with the left eyebrow. Don’t ask me, why - I don’t know myself.
5. What is a character only your eraser will love?
Hmmmm...any sort of villainous character. I can’t draw evil people convincingly. I’m a huge softy at heart.
6. Which of your works took the longest time?
Big scale commission I did for @pikapeppa, featuring all the Inquisition companions, along with Fenris, Rynne and Carver Hawke. That one took almost 3 weeks, due to its sheer scope and my relative lack of experience in such large works. Pika was extremely patient with me though, for that I am eternally thankful!
7. What techniques do you use when you want to improve in drawing?
Classical art studies. Varying my technique, themes I choose and software I use. I try to experiment and go outside my comfort zone often.
8. What do you think of the art of the person who gave you this ask meme?
I adore Lillymon’s technical skill, refined style and limited colours! She is a huge inspiration for me!
9. What art tools/media are you good with?
DrawPile, Photoshop, graphite pencils and liners. That’s about it :)
10. Art tools/media you are bad at?
Traditional paints. I have no formal artistic education and my lack of knowledge comes to the forefront whenever I have to paint on a real canvas. It’s so much trial and error, you can’t even imagine....
11. What do you think about your own art?
Lately it’s one of the last few things that were bringing me joy. I hope I won’t lose the passion for it. Because at this point I’m not sure I’ll be able to find some occupation I will be genuinely interested in and good at it. I don’t know if me gravitating towards moody fantasy art speaks about my fear of facing reality. If so, idk what to do with that. I do hope to develop my skills and being able to support myself financially as an artist.
12. Do you consult references for your drawings?
Yes. A lot of them. Anatomical atlases, schemes for both academic and manga art, photographs found online and taken on my own, copying colour palettes from classical art - anything goes. I think it’s essential to develop your technical skill.
13. What do you like about your art?
Lately - consistency, both in terms of produced results and in sticking to the timelines I set to myself. I hope this lasts. I would also like to branch out to other themes and not confine myself to quirky fantasy characters, so I’m working on developing my own story behind the scenes (spoilers) :P
14. What habits do you have while drawing?
Only the bad ones, lol. Hunching forward in front of the screen, forgetting to eat, drink and letting my eyes rest. Tilting my head to the side instead of rotating the canvas....I’m an idiot XD
15. Are you good at drawing faces facing right?
I think that’s the thing I’m good at!
Tumblr media
16. How frequently do you draw?
For the last 1,5 years - almost every day without fail, for good or ill.
17. What do you do when you have artist's block?
Change occupation and work myself into a depressed state. I changed work places in the last few years a lot, working as an interior designer, draftsman, textile designer, a cook, a bartender to name a few.
18. What must you have when you draw?
No commotion around me and a cup of some hot beverage.
19. Do you have a lot of stray lines (messy lineart)?
In the starting stage of my work process - yes, like you wouldn’t believe! If it’s a personal doodle, I sometimes just leave in as am under layer and draw clean lines on top of that mess. It looks cool in a way.
Tumblr media
20. What is drawing to you?
An essential part of what helped me to retain my sanity in the last year and a half. Hopefully a lasting profession that will help me pay bills and survive on my own, if my life falls apart entirely later.
21. Your art goal from now on?
Broaden the themes I depict, improve my technical skill, work on personal creative project and not only fan arts. And most of all - not giving up on it this time.
22. Artists you've had influence from?
To name a few: @kallielef @kourvo @shayafury @fairsparrow who I met here on Tumblr, and many others who I follow and zealously study their works for clues on how to improve my own work.
23. Artists you like?
I am following them all either here or on Instagram, I also do my best to share their works on my side blog!
24. Which is easier to draw, humans or animals?
It was animals earlier. But now that I started to diligently study human anatomy, I would say it evened out! I’m quite confident drawing humans/humanoids now!
25. Show us an old drawing
Tumblr media
My first digital drawing from 2010 when I first bought my tablet!
26. What is the charm-point of your art?
I ummm....I don’t really get the question? Is that like the the strongest suit of me as an artist? Intense expressions maybe? Idk. Let me know in the comments :D
27. What is the first thing you would draw if we're talking about fantasy?
Broody warriors, he-he
28. Please draw your most beloved character:
Tumblr media
Here’s a sneak-peek of me drawing him right now! :D
29. When thinking of characters is it mostly female? male? or androgynous/no sex?
I usually gravitate towards depicting strong-willed, caring, passionate, brave, honest men and women.
30. What did you draw yesterday?
Started cleaning up that sketch from the last question, actually!
31. What is the funnest part to draw?
A circle. Mostly because you’d die laughing seeing my struggle to draw a believable one XD
32. What part of other people's drawings do you notice first?
colours, mood, eyes, hands.
33. Regarding backgrounds, what is your method of making it easier to draw?
pick your favourite textured brush, find a good reference for mood and colour scheme, zoom out, squint your eyes and start slapping colours like mad. You’d be amazed at how much you’ll be able to achieve in 30 minutes with this approach. Bare white background is the enemy - destroy it! >:)
34. What colour coordinations do you like?
Gray or brown as a main colour and then deep, earthy, saturated colours to complement the main one. Pink and orange is the combination I strangely enjoy using lately too.
35. What character did you last draw? Fenris and Eris :)
36. Does your style change easily?
I don’t think so. More like it’s evolving slowly into something more serious and deliberate.
37. What part of drawing do you pay most attention to?
Facial expression, body movement, mood and light effects. Not so much the composition and framing, he he.
38. How do you feel about drawing adult art?
Tbh, I don’t consider straight up porn to be ‘adult’ exactly. To me adult art means aiming towards serious topics, exploring complex emotions and ideas, being honest with your viewer. I did doodle a few more steamy sketches of my OTP just to see if I could, but it was definitely a tongue-in-cheek kind of a artwork that I don’t take seriously.
39. Do you like criticism from others?
If it’s friendly and in done in private - I welcome it always.
40. How many people do you normally draw per artwork?
1 or 2. Rarely more. Crowded battle scenes are definitely not my thing :D
This was fun! Tagging forward to @shayafury @schoute @stella-minerva @nug-juggler @kallielef and anyone else wishing to go through such a long questionnaire!

Heya! I really really like your style and saw the commission thing and was wondering how to, y'know, commission a tningy ^^' I haven't done it before
Glad you like my art and like it enough to consider commissioning! ^u^
My commission information page is here. I suggest looking through it. I explain how I work in that as well, at the very bottom. But, I’ll give ya a breakdown for the Never Commissioned Before. (since that version lowkey assumes at least slight familiarity)
It’s not too difficult or anything so don't stress it! If you want a general price-point before diving in or anything: for me, an average work tends to be around $35-50ish USD (usually mostly depending on color or number of characters) but some of the more complex stuff, which often includes multiple characters and background goes more up towards $200ish. If you’re tighter on cash, as I know a lot of people are, I suggest setting yourself a budget and telling me what it is! That way if you want something, but you can’t afford it, I can help make it something affordable! (ie I may suggest not using full color, or having a bust rather than a full character- etc)
For the actual process, I’ve put it under the cut. I go pretty in-depth and it got long.
Step One: Message me with what you want to commission me to do. Give a short description.
You can message me on tumblr or through my email [email protected]. I like it if you come in with a semi-solid idea of what you want. Hopefully you read through my commission page, but, I’m also happy to provide suggestions and ideas as well. I do fanart and original works! You should have a description of what you have in mind ready.
Here’s two examples on each extreme of what I can work with:
“A picture of my character, standing with their hands on their hips. They have long brown hair and eyes and wear a pirate-like costume”
“A picture of my character, standing with their hands on their hips, a little sassy in pose an expression. They have long brown hair that goes to their hips, and is parted to the left. They have brown eyes, and a small scar on their cheek. They’re a little stocky and they wear a v-cut loose black tunic, a purple vest and leather belt.”
I’d ask more questions for both of these! I’ve never had a commission where I don’t feel the need to ask for more information. If it’s an original character (or even au-versions of fanart or characters I’m not familiar with), I love hearing about who they are as a character, since that gives me a sense of what energy I’m trying to portray with the character. If you have references (doesn’t matter if it’s an amalgamation of references plucked off of google or something you drew yourself) that’s awesome! I don't require it, but, they’re always appreciated. I am totally open to helping you make decisions too! if you have the base idea, but you don’t know if you want them to have a coat or not, I can give you sketches with both options.
Step 2: Pricing.
If you don’t already mention it, I’ll ask you specifics of the things in my commission post- ie: if it’s full body or a half body, or if it’s full color or anything.
If anything on my commission post confuses you, you can always ask me for more examples or an explanation of the difference!
After determining exactly what you want me to do, I’ll usually give you an estimate for how much it would cost to complete. Sometimes, if you’re still deciding between things that determine the price, like how complex the pose is, I might do some sketches first and see which ones you like before giving you a price. I have a little leeway on pricing here, and if you think it’s too much, you’re welcome to ask me to explain why I priced it that way and if I can lower the price. That said, a lower price means lower complexity and detail.
If we’re confident in the price, I like if you pay me at this point, rather than later, as it’s easy to forget, and frankly, I’d rather not do all this work just for someone to take the image and not pay me at the end. I have some leeway, but I usually prefer if you pay me before I get to the last step before completion. If it’s a lineart work, that means after the sketch. If it’s a colored work, it means after the lineart.
Step 3: Sketches.
When I get started with sketches it usually takes me a day or 2 to get them done. I’ll give you several to choose from. I usually do about 4-6 individual sketches and label them by number (because I’m dyslexic and for the life of me never remember left vs right).
Once I send you a batch of sketches I’ll ask you for your opinion. I basically want to know: which sketch(es) fit your idea the best and if there’s anything I’m missing or need to get rid of. It’s going to be loose and messy, so if you want me to explain anything about how it looks, please feel free to ask. I can combine sketches if you like parts of one or two of them but as a whole they’re not perfect. If I’m totally off the mark, you can totally tell me so! That kinda means I didn’t do my job right in step 1, and I’ll ask more questions to understand which aspect I’m missing.
Once we have one sketch that works, I’ll ask you a few more questions about what you’d like to see on the lineart.
Step 4: Lineart
Depending on how complex it is and how busy my life is, this might take me a day or a whole week.
Using the sketch as my base I’ll use this time to make clean lines, get some details in (this is usually where expressions and clothes are defined beyond the general structure.)
I’ll send you the sketch after I’m finished and once again, ask you what you think and what might need adjustment. Your job is to nitpick here! Please, feel free to nitpick. Is the hair too short? Is the arm in a funky angle? Tell me! You’re buying it, you get to critique it. I’ll work with you to come to an agreeable look.
If you’re commissioning me for a colored work, I’ll also ask you for any clarification/changes from the original concept for the color.
Step 5: Color
This tends to take about 1-3 days.
If it’s flat color, it’ll be pretty simple, and shading or lighting will be done with kinda flat bold lines unless otherwise stated that you just want it Flat-Flat. It’s not my usual style, so most people tend to go for full color. Full color is my usual coloring style, and I use some pretty soft shading. It tends to reflect a midday-look, but if there’s a specific background I’m doing, I will match the color to it. Dynamic shading is a secondary layer of color. I usually do color and shading on one layer. Dynamic shading is where I work with really bold, dramatic lighting.
I usually work with a background at the same time as everything else, but, sometimes I don’t because I focused on one aspect or another, so that might be an additional step.
Once again, I’ll send the work to you and ask for your opinion.
Step 6: Finishing up
Once you’re happy with it, all that’s left is A) confirming you paid me (I’ll usually remember or write it down, so if you had, I won't ask.) B) signing the artwork and C) sending it to you via email. I usually send it as a .png but you’re welcome to request other filetypes. I’ll ask you for all these things too.
You’re also welcome to request that I record the process I can take screen-capture videos or I can screen-shot each step that I’m not screen-shotting already to send to get your opinion. (you’d have to ask me to do this at the beginning though.)
After all that, I’ll usually post it on my tumblr here, and you’ll have your commission!

——— RULES / MORE INFO
-  i reserve the right to refuse a commission request without needing to provide a reason — please don't take it personally!! -  once i've accepted your order, i'll send you an invoice asking for the first half of the payment, which you must pay in 72h. after i receive that, you’ll occupy a slot and i’ll start working on your piece! -  i'll send you some rough colored sketches for you to choose which one you like better; please make sure to think carefully and say if you'd like to change something before greenlighting one of the sketches! we can stay at this stage for as long as it is needed, no rush c: but please keep in mind that once you greenlight it, i'm not going to start over! -  i'll update you again once the lineart is done (wip screenshot including the previously agreed color scheme, if applicable) — at this point, only color palette and minor changes to the lineart (small changes in the expression, moving a hand a bit to the side, more or less texture detail on faces and hair, etc.) are allowed free of charge —   each major change after the lineart is done will increase the price by $2 to 5$ USD!   - * i'll send another update right before finishing the piece so as to work out last minute details and small changes. * once your commission is done, i'll send a second invoice asking for the rest of the payment — after i receive that, i'll send you the full-res images! i'll also post the commissioned drawing here, on tumblr and on ig — if you don't want to be linked to the drawing once it's posted, please do say so ahead of time! -  i won't accept private commissions (as in, the drawing isn't posted anywhere).  i also will not do any edits after the commission is done (as in, after the second invoice has been sent) — again please make sure to voice your thoughts in the sketch phase!   -  please understand that, although i'll follow references as closely as i can * (and you can feel free to tell me if i missed a detail any time) * , i'll make stylistic choices due to my artstyle and i will not try to replicate someone else's style. -  i keep all the copyrights to use, post and showcase the commissioned drawing in any and all websites, portfolios, announcements, etc. i won't sell or make prints/etc. of the drawing, and i'll make sure to add info on who the commission was for. -   the commissioned drawing is for personal and non-commercial use only; you may not claim my art as your own nor profit in any way from the drawing. the resolution should be good for printing and you may do so for personal use but please don't sell prints of the drawing. * the commissioned drawing is a digital file, and i won't send any physical items to you. *  -   you keep all the rights to your own ocs, designs, concepts, and stories. -   do not trace, copy, or edit the drawing in any way. and please do not erase my signature in the unwatermarked image, it won't be obstructing anything. -   i'll send you a watermarked and an unwatermarked version of the drawing — only the watermarked version may be reposted (with credit) to prevent misuse/theft! the icon's file i'll send you does not have a watermark — still, credit is appreciated! i'll post icons together in a single post, and those do have watermarks for the same reason as mentioned previously ;v; -   please don't commission me with a deadline in mind — your piece may take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks to finish, though i'm aiming for the former. i'm currently in classes right now and they, of course, have a greater priority over commissions — if something comes up that results in a significant delay on your piece, i'll notify you of it! -    i'll refund your payment if i wasn't able to finish or start your order. if you must cancel your order for any reason, please contact me asap so we can discuss it! if you give up on the commission mid-way or after it is done, i will not refund you and won't take commissions from/sell adopts to you in the future. -     that being said, please do not commission me if you're unsure you can pay or unsure you actually want it!
by placing an order, you are agreeing to the terms and i assume you have read all the info i've written down! i'm not going to negotiate the terms! feel free to ask any questions!!!

YOU HEARD RIGHT. I’M TAKING COMMISSIONS. IT’S A MIRACLE. I’ve been wary to take commissions as in the past juggling a long list and a 40~50+ hour work week wasn’t a possibility. But at this point in my employment situation when it seems even the slightest misstep is treated as an offense against god and country, I have to make it work. So read on for terms, conditions, slots, and info! It’s a bit of a read but I’m attempting to put terms in place to protect both me and you as a possible future client. Please read carefully!
So for prices: These are set rates, I have a hard limit of two characters per illustration and I’m not offering backgrounds at this time. These are all priced as fullbody illustrations. Prices will only increase when multiple additions are asked for (such as extra outfits, etc.) These prices are subject to change as my situation fluctuates (An increase will happen if I ever have to 100% rely on this as my income), but will never affect any active commission. Please send all inquires to ssmith.comms @ gmail . com
Options!:
Tattoo Design: I have designed my own tattoos and I’ve provided an example of both the arm tat I have on my body (the snake) that my own artist worked with to adjust, and the clean linework, ready for transfer, I intend to get. My designs all include blackwork or detailed linework and if color is your thing I would recommend taking it to your artist to work on or finding a different person. I am not a strong enough colorist to feel comfortable taking them. If you want rough color blocking for an artist to work with I can do that to better define shapes, but I can’t do complete tattoo-ready colors.
Sketches/Lines: Details are my thing. Want a character illustration? You got it. I do prefer to work with visual references, even if it’s just a pinterest board for character inspiration/design details. If you have a 100% creature character I would please ask for ideas on how a character moves or what real-world animals would be best to pull anatomical reference from. (A big magical cat will look different if based on a cheetah compared to a tiger)
Design Sheet: Got a character you want outfits for? You got it. This isn’t a full front/back and portrait sort of thing but “Outfit Set Designs” didn’t fit very well on my template. Each design sheet will have 2 outfit designs. lined and colored, and the paper-doll base I make for it. Want more than one? +5$ for each extra outfit.
D&D Sets: A fullbody lineart with flat colors of your D&D/TTRPG character for a character sheet, and 2 circle OR square (your choice) icons to use for your tabletop needs. Want one default and one injured? A special masquerade second icon? One happy, one sad? You got it. +3$ for each extra icon. +7
A note on what I will and won’t do: I won’t do nsfw content that includes nudity, gore, etc, but I will do slight stuff, like scantily clad fantasy armor. I won’t do commissions that’re 100% fanart, meaning I won’t just draw you Naruto. I will however draw your OC ninja holding hands with Naruto.
TERMS OF SERVICE! (For everyone’s benefit)
These commissions, unless agreed upon before hand, are meant for personal use only and may not be used for production or profit. If the commission is going to be used as an asset for a monetized production I must be notified before hand and agree to separate terms in regards to credit and possible changes to pricing.
All payment will be made through paypal. I will work up a draft and once that is sent (it will be watermarked) and agreed on I will then send an invoice. I don’t like holding onto money for projects I have not started and I want to protect any prospective clients who may be in a slot and end up waiting an unsual amount of time as my workload/life situation changes with nothing, so please do not pay in advance. Payments sent without an invoice ahead of schedule without a draft forfeit the right to approve the draft before finals are started. Clients who do not receive art within 90 days of payment date and can provide proof are eligible for a complete refund of purchase price. (Those that pay ahead of time without invoice forfeit this refund clause.)
I reserve the right to decline a commission I do not feel comfortable taking or ones I know I will do poorly on. I reserve the right to cancel a commission outright if a client decides to attempt to force blocked content into the piece that’s already been accepted.
Complaining about my prices will not make me change them. Too much? Find a different artist. Too little? Tip me.
SLOTS!
Slots are taken in a rolling set of two. I do not have a waiting list at present but if it becomes something people really want I’ll look into what’s believable for me to handle.
Slot One: @kc5rings
Slot Two: Taken!
