—shu headcanon's!

hi! I've been thinking a lot lately about the Sakamaki brothers and I came up with some headcanons that maybe you guys can enjoy too, the first one in this series is shu so enjoy! also a little art piece i make during maing this post.

his looks and selfcare

i do think that shuu is very, good looking, shu has that kind of elegant beauty, with his fine face and a straight nose, clearly his eyes are what attract the most attention when you see him for the first time, also shu has a very penetrating and fixed gaze, in addition to the fact that his blue color makes him have a captivating look and sometimes makes people nervous without realizing it, just because of his natural gaze.

even so, shu does not realize how attractive he is, at least not entirely, mostly bc he doesnt take care of his face, like he dont put any cream or special soap on his skin, he is totally the guy that barely wash his face and has a perfect skin.

but i do think that when he wants to, he definetly put sunscreen bc thats what he thinks is makeup for men.

and maybe this is a little... dirty? but i truly belive shu does'nt shower too often, maybe three times a week? or sometimes two, and he does not smell, like too bad, bc he dont sweat for some reason, but does sometimes stink with that smell, when somebody is for too long in a bed... that kind of smell.

and the times he showers he truly takes that shower like if it was his last, ofc is a bubble bath and he puts some candles and music while he just rest in hot water. is shu's private moment with himself. and he loves vanilla and chocolate candles.

and about shaving, he has a happy trail, but cant grow a hole beard, for some reason it just grow under his chin and it bothers him so he shave it right away. and about his body hair it is very thin and not so visible.

talking about skin, something shu needs, is to feel soft things to the touch, like his sheets, he makes his bed all the time and loves the smell of vanila or lavanda the bed has when its recently done, and its the same with his clothes, he needs cotton clothes, if shu feel something that is minimally rough or that makes his skin itchy, he never wears it again or throw it away.

shu does not brush his hair too often, mostly bc its not hard to control and he likes how he looks with messy hair.

i like to think that shu has a wide body, big shoulders and a thick waist, he has a prominent v line, his arms are a little thick too, and his hands are big, but his fingers are more thin and long, as he use to play piano. and he takes care of his nails, doesnt put nail polish but do cuts them and keep them clean.

random stuff

sometimes shu doesnt realize his shirt is inside out, and he realize just when somebody else point it out. but shu dont care.

shu is actually a goosip, so he puts one of his earphones bad just so he can hear what people are talking even if it had nothing to do with him.

and a little secret of him, when shu cant sleep and is alone, he looks at cute/funny (mostly shitpost) videos, memes and photos of animals, shu is totally an animal lover.

on his vacations shu loves to watch a reallity shows, he loves drama of famous people, but ofc shu doesnt talk about this with anyone. and definetly watch them when he eats. not too often tho, it has to be a really good show.

shu has a record collection in his room, next to a wall full of vinyls of his favorite music, he doesn't use them much but enjoys collecting them.

and bc of his childhood he is actually really smart but bc he is miserable and lazy he just dont show it nor in his life or in the academy. and also as a little revenge to his father (who punish him by sending shu to alaska lol).

shu actually dont like human food, he find it boring, but do enjoy eating meat, almost raw, but not too much, bc after that his stomach hurt a little. he does like coffe or hot chocolate sometimes and better when it has milk.

and my favorite little thing about shu, i think shu dont play in consoles, not play station, not xbox, not nintendo, nothing like that. so he only play games in his phone, but not anygame. shu either playes puzzles games or play subway surfers, or both, who knows. and he loves the music of that game, it always stick into his mind when he hears it.

but askfgsalfg why is this proving what I've kinda been suspecting and Zak doesn't rly fit in with landoscar and has largely not had as much to do w the driver partnership as he used to

we already knew from Andrea that Lando and Oscar do their own little separate debriefs and they were so excited about getting their own door separating them from everyone where it used to be in a shared hallway (including Zak)

but the golf, the dinners and the marketing stuff is all referring to Carlos' and Daniel's eras. Oscar couldn't even be bribed to play golf, is literally famous for not wanting to do marketing/contrived PR content and not being good at it, and the only "dinner" situation after Hungary was Lando and Oscar eating fast food with other drivers and then playing board games with Alex on the flight home ?? we also know that these debrief dinners don't happen otherwise bc Oscar usually goes home to sleep or out with Lily and Lando goes out being a very single guy or gaming w Max and BanKai etc. that post race debrief finishes and those two peace OUT. and tbh the amount that they've chosen to fly together to and from things now Oscar lives in Monaco, they've taken even more of that debriefing into their own hands!

like I just get the vibe that Zak doesn't rly have the boys club anymore and Andrea being Dad to his two kids is how things are rly being managed. even down to him sometimes wanting to be the bad guy that the two kids bond over hating sometimes even tho they love Dad really. that's just not a dynamic I see Zak fitting into. (and ngl probably some of the Daniel era in particular those tensions needed to be managed between him and Zak but aaaaaanyway)

I say this as someone who fully expects Lando and Oscar to have normal teammate fights at some point where there's the strong words to the media and angry radios etc etc - the fact that they decided so early on in their relationship to do a teammate version of 'private but not secret' couple thing of keeping fans and media out of their business, both good and bad, means they're absolutely discussing and strategizing about this (bc especially after alpinegate and taking Daniel's seat, it would've been very handy and easy for them to go a bromance angle!). which as a charlos veteran and also someone who knew the Max and Lando fight would blow over faster than anyone thought it would, I'm never going to be fazed by a fight between Lando and Oscar - but I'm also just not sold on it ever getting as out of control as so many people want/expect it to. and I feel that way partly at least bc I think there's been sort of a gen z gender neutralling happened to McLaren bc of this partnership (not as much of the usual of masculine/boys being boys energy*)

but also bc there's only one big personality/celebrity instead of two. off the track, Lando and Oscar perfectly compliment each other's personalities including how their friendship is a quiet thing rather than a big media-beloved bromance so they don't have the burden of managing fan expectations and reactions about it. you can kind of parallel it with the Lando and Max fight last season bc those two are genuinely involved in each other's lives as friends and spend the most time with each other than any other driver, including Lando being a regular fixture in Max's little family - but Max doesn't do PR at all so a lot of people still don't know how close they are. so the assumption was that their fight was this massive thing and the end of their relationship but a lot of us were like pfffff this'll blow over and Penelope's uncle will be back before she could even notice.

in the same way, Lando and Oscar doing all their bonding time out of the public eye and being the only two people who truly know how they feel about each other at any time means they are the only authority anyone should listen to! when they say 'fight over' they mean fight over! when they giggle and laugh waiting for a plane together after Monza or smile in relief at each other immediately after getting out of the cars in Hungary, then that's the truth! they're choosing not to let fans and the media in on this so that fans or the media can't feel they know better and contradict them!

and that's where I think Zak is more on the outside of things too. when even Andrea is like yea these boys are talking about things before speaking to their own teams then it feels like that's a real shift away from the explosive teammate dynamics everyone keeps referring to.

excellent question, anon! I'm not really sure if this is about reverse omegaverse or post retirement so I'm gonna go w post retirement bc I've been daydreaming about torturing that old man w pregnancy so buckle up!

I mean honestly I think marc is pretty happy! I actually don’t know if he’s talked about it before but he seems to want to start his family after retirement (rosquez soulmatery strikes again) when he can focus on it 100 percent. in this universe I don’t think marc is going to be like suddenly ready to retire just bc he has the ninth and vale is accidentally pregnant, but I think the fact that vale is at least retired and can be fully there for the baby would probably be enough for him to be okay with the situation. vale is also at least tangentially obligated to be at a lot of motogp races by virtue of owning a team and mentoring half the grid so when the baby is old enough he would get to see them a lot more than is maybe standard in this sport. (idk I could be wrong about what’s standard here I got into this like a month and a half ago)

if you’re asking how I think the actual reveal goes, well……..I think it doesn’t go as bad as it could. vale is a fucking mess when luca leaves him home alone to wait for marc. but he’s also like—relieved? at least a little bit, I mean the poor old man has been out of his mind horny and nauseous for weeks at this point and fully just thought he had some kind of mystery terminal illness. a baby isn’t a death sentence. also, he’s already decided he’s keeping it. the doctor tried to hand him an abortion brochure and the idea of it made him sick to his stomach.

obviously none of this was planned so he’s maybe coming at it from a staunchly solo angle of I’m keeping it you can be there for us or go to hell type of thing. marc is completely delighted tho so that doesn’t become an issue. I think they probably don’t have the serious conversation about it that they realllly should (remember marc came to the ranch for the explicit purpose of hammering out the reconciliation bc they’ve just been having tender intimate sex and not discussing it) and instead, you guessed it, have crazy romantic sex. marc is like fully ready to let vale fuck him, gets on his hands and knees at first and vale is like wait, and turns him over and he’s like all I’ve been thinking about for weeks is having you inside me again.

(keep in mind vale got pregnant at his age on the first try; let’s just say his body has really decided to be equipped for a baby idk none of this has to be real or scientific lol) marc can’t exactly cook but he tries his best and either vale elbows him way from the stove when necessary or they order in and feed each other in bed like disgustingly in love people do.

I think they push the serious conversation off for as long as possible and just sort of live together for as long as they can get away with it. vale knows it’s probably early enough that he can still ride but he’s petrified of something happening to the baby so when they go to the ranch he just watches marc go wild by himself and shouts pointers at him that marc playfully does not listen to. marc is also feeling rather delicate about his health wrt being alive and well for his future baby so he’s playing it pretty safe out there too.

they’re basically having a babymoon phase of only seeing each other, fucking constantly, and lounging around. I have this awesome image of them watching a bunch of pregnancy movies and when they get to juno vale, under full influence of first trimester hormones, sobs through like half of it. marc is bewildered and amused and secretly really happy to be big and strong for vale who he has never seen before vulnerable and soft like this, even before everything. it’s domestic bliss until marc starts getting increasingly annoyed calls from ducati about preseason obligations and vale has also been fending off Uccio and the academy and a billion other people who don’t believe him when he says he’s not sick anymore and just needs some time—omg wait maybe 100km gets canceled, that would be crazy juicy—and the motogp community and media in general thinks vale is dying.

marc is like struggling bc he absolutely does not want to leave vale, in fact he never wants to be without vale ever again, but vale is spooked by the reminder of real world obligations and gets weird and cold. tries to push marc away and insist that he needs to go do his job (he is subconsciously testing marc; if you leave you FAIL) marc is having ptsd flashbacks to the last time he was in tavullia (hello ranch visit trauma) which involved. a lot of the same cold shoulder and manipulation tactics.

it’s a bad time for all! they get into a blowout screaming match where vale tries to kick marc out while literally clutching at his clothes, white knuckled, marc is sobbing and holding vale in a death grip whispering into his neck I won’t leave you please don’t make me go vale I can’t lose you again I promise I’ll do anything I need you both.

the insane “compromise” they end up with is (let’s say ducati make that skiing thing an annual trip) vale GOES WITH MARC to the event and stays with him in the hotel/cabin/whatever (even tho he literally has a house there) and they don’t even try to explain it to anyone in the team. pecco knocking on marc’s door the first morning so they can catch up over breakfast and vale answers, sleep rumpled, wearing one of marc’s tshirts and they both just stare at each other dumbfounded until marc returns from his shower and and smiles all fake at pecco like why are you just standing there weirdos :)) come sit and have an espresso, pecco I’m almost done getting dressed :))

vale calmly makes a nonverbal pecco an espresso and slaps marc’s ass when he bends over to rummage through the one giant luggage that they appear to be sharing. pecco is texting luca paragraphs under the table. it’s absolute fucking scenes when they have the big fancy team dinner with the long tables and marc shows up w vale as his plus one. and vale refuses a glass of champagne for the toast……..

realization that i’ve shifted.

i don’t believe that i’ve told this story here (my memory could just be bad tho 😭)

BUT i’m gonna present it now 🕺🏽

back in 2020, i was watching to all the boys i’ve loved before 2. i remember that i stayed up to watch it as soon as it came out.

while watching it, i closed my eyes and suddenly i was in a different room. i still remember it so vividly but it had blue led lights and rock and band posters all around the room.

highkey, it reminded me of finn wolfhard. it looked like it would be his room or something.

i immediately was scared bcs i was in a completely different place. i looked around and was like 😦

i literally said “ i want to go back take me back!!😰” and the next thing i know i was back in my room. i was obviously spooked but then i started to question what happened. fast forward 4 years and i’m still questioning😑

over the years i’ve been gaslighting myself and saying “ohh you didn’t shift it was probably a dream” but last night i had an epiphany.

i 100% shifted. here’s why:

1. if i were dreaming, why did i immediately know that something was extremely wrong?

i’ve literally had 1460+ nights of dreams since then and not even my most terrifying realistic nightmares had instilled the same discomfort that this experience did.

2. i haven’t experienced anything like that since.

i figured if i were having a lucid dream, i would have had more experiences like that, but this specific one was SOO unique. i’ve tried to recreate the same conditions on multiple occasions but NOTHING can replicate what i experienced

3. it fits the description of a lot of shifting experiences that people talk about here.

lots of people preach “disconnect from shifting,” “be nonchalant,” “be indifferent towards shifting,” “shifting happens naturally, ” “it’s as simple as breathing.” and i genuinely think that’s what made me shift.

at the time, i had been doing shifting stuff but i took a hiatus. i wasn’t expecting to shift, but it was still somewhat prominent in my mind. as soon as i detached and let go, my subconscious was like “let’s shift 😈🤘🏽🤘🏽.” i’m noticing a trend where a lot of people who shift have just been relaxing/not focused on shifting so that helped confirm that i had shifted

okay so here's my summary of ibushi's latest 2 videos (here and here) from his youtube channel

pls make sure to read this at your own discretion. it's honest, but not exactly cheerful.

this summary is not entirely chronological; i've grouped some points together for cohesion

the vids were taken about 2 weeks after marufuji vs ibushi was announced, so around 12/17 ish (i'm just bringing this up bc i saw some confusion bc ibushi was reported by noah to be in the us rn until at least the 27th)

ibushi starts out the 1st vid by saying how completely different american and japanese wrestling are; the example he uses are cheers, [in aew] whenver anyone makes their entrance the crowd is chanting their name

in japan it has a different quality to it; [i assume he's talking about coming out at the noah show to challenge marufuji here] it's strange to him when he can only hear his theme and there's neither boos nor cheers, but he was glad it got a reaction

as for how he's doing physically: says he'll be frank: his left ankle and the back of his right hand (there's a visible dent on one side of the back of his hand and he says he doesn't have much grip strength there but for powerbombs and germans he grabs his wrist with his left hand so he can still do those) are fractured and his shoulder isn't healed cause he never got surgery for it

the ankle is the worst out of the 3, he can't jump or do highflying and walking 400 m (0.25 miles) is his limit, even walking around everyday is pretty rough

he's been able to benchpress 88 lbs now, with 200 as a one time thing, but he can't do much actual wrestling match practice, worries about what he can do; sums it up as that physically things aren't really on the up and up at all

but he believes marufuji is going through the same thing [being hurt in a lot of different places] and that the match won't be bad because of that; he believes it will be good precisely bc of the shape they are in, the injuries they've sustained

as he's said in the past, he doesn't care about what place he is on the card even tho ppl care a lot about match order, but he has the opportunity of being in the main with marufuji, so [he'll make the most out of it]

the ring remains a place for him to express himself, unable to highfly or injured as he may be, that's part of it too

he could go out there and be like "no i'm recovering i'm practicing hard everything's going swell" but that wouldn't change the fact that it's not true

he's doing what he can do get better, but operating within the limits of his body and how he can workout

even so, he won't give up and expresses confidence, [he seems motivated for the match and to go through with all of this], he's been doing this for 20 years and nothing scares him anymore

he says his instinct/6th sense for wrestling isn't as sharp [anymore] either since he doesn't really wrestle outside of aew these days, and again japanese and american wrestling are completely different and he's matching himself to wherever he wrestles, so he will do the same for the noah match

as long as it's getting a reaction out of ppl, he's happy; as long as he's getting something out of it he's happy, there's no right or wrong here for him

he's not nervous for the match at all, just hopes he can put himself out there in his purest form, so that ppl can decide for themselves what it is he represents for them/how they experience them

the video ends with him saying that he doesn't wanna be gloom, but if something unfortunate happens [i interpret this to mean another injury] this will be his last [match]

[he also then says make sure to watch his matches (since you won't know which one will be the last), and while i don't think he's lying with the sentiment here at all, my suggestion would be to take this as it is for now but not despair too hard about it]

the 2nd vid is mostly a recap of him seconding a kickboxer he trains for his match at korakuen hall on 12/17, interspliced with more footage from ibushi talking in the secret base

just as the fictitious "ibushi pro wrestling research institute" represents his status as a freelancer and a means by which he express himself in his purest form to ppl, it's also a means by which he can take on ppl under his wing

[ibushi has talked on twitter before how he has several trainees who are former/current kickboxers or MMA fighters wishing to become pro wrestlers] he thinks more of them will make their debut in the future; he's not doing this to boast that he's the one training them, it just naturally happened this way

even tho the ipwri is not actually a promotion, [ppl he's training and ibushi himself] get announced/lower third-ed as being from there, so it has established itself in the world

[there's a backstage scene here of ibushi talking to machida (machida lost the match) and altho there isn't much to tl (it's just ibushi basically giving him a pep talk), i still think it's worth checking out, it's very sweet]

lastly he says the institute is taking applications and as long as your feelings/motivations come across, he's happy to read them, even tho there are already too many ppl showing interest rn

Lets Get Yapping

Now I have quite a lot to say about this one. Due to the fact that i was not really crushing to hard on anyone I became real locked into the show. Not saying i dont like any of the men but none that make me tweak out like Speirs does if you know what i mean. Now this is a completely different show from BoB so dont get it twisted. I want into this thinking it would be the same as BoB and wow um i was wrong but not in a bad way. One of the biggest difference is we see a lot of civilian life. We will follow Marines on leave for quite a while. I wasnt a huge fan of that tbh it through off the whole vibe for me. I was apprehensive of this show during the first few episodes. I honestly was a bit board here and there. Tho once i got to the last few episodes (mainly when Eugene Sledge comes in) i was blown away and my mind was completely changed. I couldnt take my eyes off the screen.

This show was shockingly gruesome and violent. The depictions of how disgusting and violence was outstanding. The environment they were trapped in with no sign hope yet they kept it going. I was shocked and dumb founded by the depictions. I was not expecting it to be so graphic. I am not complaining tho i love it. Movie/Shows depicting war are often watered down. Not showing the true experiences of the environment these men were in. The horrors they saw, the edges they were pushed to.

(My lord I need to rewrite my BoB review bc what i wrote was a master piece and my BoB one was pretty much just me saying stuff until I felt it was appropriate to talk all abt Speirs lmao but i digress)

Overall I enjoyed this series quite a bit. My favorite character would have to be Eugene Sledge, my sweet lil baby, poor thing. I just wanted to give him a hug the whole time. Seeing how the war changed him was intense seeing how he wanted so bad to fight and once he got to he regrated it.

Here's one secret about that narcissist in your life they wouldn't want you to know

So I think I cracked a code when it comes to narcissism.

Have you ever noticed that the narcissist in your life seems to heavily target you for some reason? They blame you for everything going wrong, maybe they mainly abuse/harass you, even tho other people are in their lives, it's like they have a hit out for you specifically.

This can make us internalize their hatered and abuse even more, which then affects our self esteem, confidence, life in general. It takes a huge toll on us, especially when it seems like their behaviors are so unpredictable and not making any sense. It seems like it must be something about us causing them to behave that way.

For a long time this had me stumped..I never could figure out why me, why was I so unlucky to be the target of their abuse and why couldn't they find someone else. I blamed myself, believing I am heavily flawed, weak, problematic and that if i do attract narcissistic individuals in my life maybe the common denominator is me, I'm the issue.

While that may be the case that I'm those things, it's actually not about you when the narcissist chooses you as their main target. What's happening is what they may see in you is someone with no protection, no friends, maybe no one around you who can hold them accountable, so they see you as someone they can take their anger out on with no consequences. It's not just the fact that it's you, it's not personal, it's bc they see you as defenseless, and this is what they take as an opportunity to get away with all their BS.

Maybe that narcissist has this habitual need to abuse others, unfortunately and weirdly, abusing others, starting problems, confrontation is how they release stress. An extremely fkd up way to handle problems but okay. So that's the thing, they don't cope well with stressors of life, their insecurities, their health issues, the bad moments in their life.

What they do is take that out on you. Do you ever have a bad day where maybe you were bullied at work, robbed walking down the street, lost your job, had a bad health day/flare up, something embarrassing happenend. It's something we all go through, well the narcissist tolerance for these things is very low and they often avoid feeling any pain so when they do that's when you'll see them at their worst taking it out on you or others.

So when you used to wonder, why are they acting like this all of a sudden, what behavior of yours caused this reaction out of them. Well like I said it's really not about you on a deep level.

But if you do unintentionally make the narcissist aware of their flaws or trigger something in them, this does exacerbate things even more.

Some people have a tendency to abuse animals, children, homeless people, disabled people and that's bc they are the least defensive on the planet. Dogs don't have the mental capacity to plan revenge and kill their human attackers, most of the time their narcissist owners basically abuse the power dynamics of having a defenseless dog at their finger tips. They can abuse them, take out all their frustration whenever they want bc this is something they can peacefully do indoors and they can basically say they own them, in their mind believing they have a right to do so.

The same thing goes for children and those with disabilities unfortunately. Do you see the path I'm going down here now? They attack you bc you bc it's easy, the weak way out, abusing the most vulnerable people.

What made me come to this conclusion is that last night on nye I stayed home alone just me and my son baking cookies and chilling, my parents went out tho as they usually do. They go out almost every weekend partying and things, they have a big social life. My mom is the narcissist in this situation, I do my best to avoid her at all costs and ive come to a place in my life where I ignore her no matter how bad she treats me or what she says to me. I've learned that keeping quiet, minding my buisness, protecting my energy is the only way to keep her off my back. It works more than fighting back ever did. When I did fight back and defend myself, things got worse. Ruined my own values to stoop down to her level, even allowed it to deteriorate my health. This is what happens when you let unhinged narcissist use you as their punching bag.

They love the drama of it all, they like fighting, they like embarrassing you, they like triggering you, maybe it distracts them from their problems and makes them feel powerful. When in reality they are struggling to feel powerful in their daily life with the rest of society.

But yeah so to continue my story, my parents went out for new years and when they got back the next morning it seemed like my mom was in a bad mood yet again. At this point I've been avoiding her for weeks, trying my best to not start any problems for my own mental health. So to me it was weird where this sudden energy is coming from and that's when I connected the dots. Something happened during her new years celebration with her friends and then she came home and attempted to take that out on me. And then I noticed that this has been a pattern bc something similar happened on Thanksgiving and christmas. The times of the year where all of the family/friends get together.

So yeah, obviously something about these events is bringing things up in her and now she's trying to take it out on me.

Now knowing this, I think it's important for all victims of narcissism to understand that they are using you to unleash all their personal issues, you are giving them the freedom and access to use you as their punching bag. This is what feeds their ego and gives them relief.

So what the narcissist doesn't want you to know is-

Once you take back your energy, revoke their access to you, and hopefully you can get rid of any dependence on them for survival, that's how you get your karma back on them. It's rare that victims of narcissism turn the page and fight back where it matters. Aggresively fighting back doesn't work, trying to have a peaceful conversation doesn't work, even trying to please them doesn't work, but what does is

Taking away you from the equation.

Just imagine a world where a narcissist couldn't find anyone to abuse and release their stress on. Omg that would be so miserable for them, I bet they would turn to self mutilation or heavy addictions tbh.

The weaker you are, the more dependent you are, the less power you have, the less money, the less mental health, the less physical health, the less support systems you have, the less knowledge you even have, the better it is for them to thrive. Do you think they deserve that? So take care of yourself this year and work on that, and when their behavior has you confused, you can always rely on their patterns.

Every time I think of Game of Thrones and shipping I go a little bit insane because of the fact that Jon and Dany are supposed to actually love each other according to the script and have ZERO on screen chemistry meanwhile Jon and Sansa have such good on screen chemistry and it amounted to nothing. The thing is that I could get behind either ship under specific circumstances but the show didn’t really offer my preferred circumstances for either and it completely fumbled both in different ways. What do you mean we’re supposed to believe Jon still loved Dany even to the end? What happened here?

okay let’s rant about the show acting.

the thing about kit is he needs a STRONG scene partner to kick it into gear. a lot of the early night’s watch scenes are awkward as shit bc the other guys ARE good but they’re not strong enough (whether that means less confident or less seasoned, take your pick here) to herd him into good acting all the time. when he gets to the wildlings, i think he hits a high point bc he has some strong scene partners - rose leslie, ciaran hinds, Kristofer Hivju, i think they just brought out something a bit deeper in him. i haven’t watched the meli scenes since they aired so i can’t speak to that one yet but i do think this carries into the winterfell story arcs. sophie is just a very good scene partner for him! and tbh, i thinks this even fits with jon’s character a bit - kit is so much better at the Stark Aspects of Jon and of course he is, because imo the overreaching arc of jon snow is him defining himself as a son of house stark in character if not in name. it would have been nice if they cast someone who didn’t need to be herded as much as kit tho aksjdjd

the thing as i see it with emilia is…..i have no fucjing idea how to get a good performance out of that girl aksjdjd like her good moments are even more fleeting & hard to pin down. tbf her writing is also consistently bad from the jump. you know how skai jackson posted her audition tape for gossip girl and she was doing the exact sort of disney channel snarky delivery & it was like well That’s why u didn’t get cast. somehow, emilia got cast (and AIDEN I DONT UNDERSTAND IT HE ISNT GOOD ITS GIVING PREMINGER FROM BARBIE OKAY CONLETH SMOKES HIM IN EVERY SCENE). i think that scene where she puts the egg on the brazier & irri walks in is p solid. the scene where she slaps the fuck out of viserys is solid. the final shot of s6 where she’s on the ships is solid. the battle of the bells scene is excellent. her two big dothraki speeches (i think it’s middle of s6 & the last episode?) are very good. everything else isn’t even like, cringe, it’s straight up bad. i think she had good chemistry with iain jason peter & for those 5 seconds elyes, but there’s also a stark difference in acting there that jars me that doesn’t jar me out of say, the “if we die we die” jonygritte scene. but again, can’t overstate how ass her writing is. they’re relegating her to screeching at people & smirking, they very notoriously use emilia’s body a LOT for sexy tiddy scenes so much that once she blew up as a character she leveraged her new found pull not for more money but to not have to show her boobs anymore. that’s just not an added stressor that kit was dealing with.

anyways so, what happens when you get two actors who aren’t very good at acting on the screen is that you just don’t get a lot of good acting. and when there’s no good writing to speak of, well, that’s how you get the romantic story lines of later game of thrones. the one that actually goes canon is just perplexing in how it’s written and badly acted. the one that stays non canon is well acted but also perplexingly written & it doesn’t even get solid pay off at the end? not even expecting them to kiss, like, there’s no focus on how they’re feeling about the events of the final season they just hug once and dip. not that the canon one gets pay off either skdjd like these are just very stupidly written arcs for these three. the only people that won were jon/tormund truthers and even then they flanderized tormund so bad that it’s like eh.

I LOVE SAMELLA...... read twinning with a twist and havent been the same since but they really do just work really well together if you think ab it. with both coming from bad family situations (only implied for ella tho i think) and needing everyone to like them all the time. sammy is really hurt that she's always painted in a bad light no matter how hard she tries to fix it, while ella doesnt realize how she comes across as annoying and that people dont really like her until sugar flat out tells her, and she starts spending so much time trying to get sugar to like her. its just interesting bc sammy feels defeated and ella is just determined to both be herself and be someone who everybody likes.(though, and this might just be pulling from twinning with a twist a lot, it does feel like she uses her princess fantasy as escapism. possibly partly bc shes Not oblivious i bet she realizes people dont like her that much, she just doesnt know what to do about it. if they dont like her when shes trying to be the perfect princess and polite and kind what is so bad about her that even if shes nice they dont want her?) sammy IS nice, and she doesnt hide it, but somehow ends up taking the fall for amy's behavior (even tho amy was outright awful to everyone?? this plot confused me so bad. but i guess scarlett and amy dont care, topher probably just doesnt care or Loves to stir the pot, max and rodney are probably too dense, and we know how jasmine reacted) and she has such a complex about it its Bad. i honestly love sammy i wish they treated her better. i think ella shouldve also had a last straw snap like sammy did, just absolutely go off on someone about why they dont like her. isnt she trying hard enough? whats wrong with her? and sammy might see that as inspiration and really admire ella for it, and spend more time together (without amy this is important.) then later maybe sammy asks ella for tips and she tells her that she seems like a really nice person !! and maybe likens sammy to a princess as well, because ella didnt have amy on her team influencing her perception of sammy. so that like shocks sammy and she realizes that if ella can do it she can, and if ella sees her as someone worthy just knowing Sammy, then maybe she is, and has worth on her own outside of amy. i love jasmine but i dont love the way she just lets it happen either. i think sammy believed jasmine when she said she was good, but couldnt help but feel like its only because she feels sorry for her, and not really based on her own merit because amy has never let sammy have anything for herself, not even her friendship with jasmine. so being on different teams from ella and still bonding could give them a chance to establish that connection without amy at all, which might make sammy feel more secure that ella truly means what shes saying. i think one of the conversations would happen after ella is voted off, and sammy would get mad, saying that ella was genuinely sweet and they couldnt see past the fact that she was also 'too weird', and then say her situation was similar in that they judge her on the surface of what amy tells them without ever trying to get to know her at all, and she tells amy shes done trying to compete with her. her worth shouldnt depend on whether amy or their mother thinks shes good. maybe this could also relate to ella's brief crush on dave, and how she feels betrayed by sky for being so excited when she was clearly upset about it when she thought they were friends, and she also realizes dave didnt fit the mold she wanted him to. i think sammy would comfort her after, and this shouldve been the start of ella accepting she cant spend her whole life in a fantasy or she wont make real connections. and later when they get together sammy might confess she worries about not being enough for ella, not being able to fit the princess life. but ella tells her that their relationship isnt a fantasy, its real. she wants to take it slow, and not put any expectations onto her. like, character growth. IDK sorry for the rant i just like them

X-Men 97 Thoughts

My personal opinions

Okay. So I grew up with X-men The Animated Series. It was one of my fave shows. It always came on late at night on Toon Disney (at times i shouldnt have been awake LMAO) so it has a special place in my heart. I was very surprised that of all things they decided to "continue" it. So, when I heard about it, I did a full rewatch (even that ungodly last season where quality took a nosedive OOF) Anywhoo! Started and finished 97. Those who know me best know at heart I am a big OG fan of my fandoms and am trepidacious of reboots/even continuation reboots, bc lets be honest most of them are all about stomping on the source material, SO I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed Xmen 97.

You could really see how much they tried to capture the feel of the old show and the characters. The voice replacements were surprisingly well done. (i mean, Wolverine is a little off, but i'll give the guy a break its been like...28 yrs XD ) The animation looks amazing. Even if i'm taking some points off for the hair hfgjhdf haha

Now the storyline.... The elephant in the room. We all know the one. I have been a Romy fan since I was a kid and yes, when I was a young girl in Borders, I did come across the comic that showed the RoguexMagneto storyline. I hated it then and I hate it now. Its just...weird. (Again, my opinions. If you like it, power to you. Enjoy, but its not for me and this post isn't for you) but its even weirder in the show, and ill tell you why. As a Marvel comic reader, I'm well acquainted with the fact that everyone gets with everyone. That is just a trope of Marvel comics. All ships of imaginable and unimaginable proportions happen. BUT I think when doing this, they really should have thought it through a bit more in context of the show's universe alone . Bc I'll be real, if you're coming in from TAS, this kinda hits you out of nowhere. She had no form of connection with Magneto in the past show. Like....they had a makeshift funeral for him and she didn't even care. She was just worried about Gambit being stuck in space. So, their "secret" just seems so random and out of place. I do like that it was used for her to understand fully her feelings for Gambit, but man was it frustrating to see him just killed off when he was one of the best characters.(even if it was really well done and the animation, again, was amazing)

There's talk of him coming back as "Death" which is a storyline I'm not familiar with but I also heard talk of the original showrunner idealizing a timeline where Rogue and Magneto have kids....so... IDK It all just left me a bit frustrated and disheartened bc Romy was like one of my earliest ships before i knew ships were a thing. To see what happened to it made me sad, even if it could be part of a long game to get them to their HEA. (and thats always an if bc we don't know, even if the original guy isn't in charge anymore)

Other things that bugged me a little but not too much. Gonna bring up Morph. I love Morph. They were always a fave and they went through so much to finally be back on the team again. I really don't understand why they changed their character design tho? I read it was to make Morph look more like the character changeling from the comics but this is again something that doesnt make sense coming out of TAS bc Morph always had that other appearance throughout the entire show. I mean...it could have at least been explained... Also, as far as the feelings for Wolverine, i kinda found it funny XD bc in TAS, it always seemed like it was the other way around jkhfgjkdfh Wolverine was so attached to Morph and wouldn't let 'em go. That being said, I kinda wish they didn't go this route if its only meant to be unrequited and sad. AGAIN. I know. Marvel is all about unrequited drama jfhdkjfdh but hasn't Morph been through enough??? That being said, I love the ship even though I know its doomed. Wolverine is the worst person to be down bad for tho. Mans falls in love at the drop of a hat fhghdfjhsd

Other than these couple things, I really loved the show. Some people said "why are they shoving so much story into such a short amount of time" XD The storyteller in me would like to agree but i will be honest, there is nothing more like Xmen TAS than smooshed storylines jkdfhfkjds with random one-off eps in between. XD So, I was fine with it.

I liked the conclusion with Scott and Jean, as messy as it was. The family fun time was a pleasure to watch.

Xavier and Magneto. They really highlighted their messy, but still devoted relationship from the original series, so that was nice to see. I was glad to see him back in the red suit LMAO bc the one he was wearing all season was weird for me.

I loved Jubilee's journey, and it was cool that they brought Alyson Court back for that one episode.

I was very pleased overall that they didn't tone things down and since censors are different these days, they could show more stuff they couldn't in the 90s. So, I am looking forward to more seasons (and pleeeeease for the love of god give Romy back to me i am begging)

ok so nobody needs to know this but I'm annoyed about it and annoyed about how I handled it (ie didn't)

but. basically I had a really bad cavity in one of my molars. for like, years, bc I was a minor living with a parent who didn't know how or didn't care enough to take care of me including getting us on medicaid or whatever, and getting me dental. but then I became an adult and still didn't do anything about it because I was too scared and didn't know how to schedule appointments or do anything or whatever. then I went abroad and it was noticeably an issue but I was Way Too Scared to try navigating healthcare and payments in another country, possibly in a language I didn't (then) speak. skill issue but whatever.

after I got back, it was so obviously a problem that when I was out here visiting my other parent, I had a dental appointment scheduled with a family friend. he was like, oh yeah you need a root canal, and I was like, great let's fucking gooooo, kill the sucker. so that happened the day before thanksgiving (a high holy day in this parent's household but I could fucking care less. the root canal actually didn't interfere at all tbh).

so, then there was a filling presumably? this all happened a decade ago at this point so I'm not entirely sure. I probably had a filling in that tooth thru the top where the cavity was(?). but a handful of years later I noticed another cavity, that I'm pretty sure never got filled, now that I think on it. but my dental care has been so sporadic that I genuinely don't know.

this^ is complicated by the fact that, the last couple times I went to a dentist (already a couple years ago by now), I asked about that cavity. and they told me it wasn't a cavity and that I didn't have any cavities, even tho I had a visible actual hole in my tooth right above the gum. I guess I just accepted it because I'm not a dentist.

anyway. past couple years I'm like, hmmm I should really figure out who takes the insurance I'm on, I don't like this hole nor the fact that sweets and cold stuff really hurt to eat. which, you know, generally indicates you've got a cavity or something. but I just kind of put up with the fact that I can't eat sweets and now my palette has sort of changed around that fact, so it's not a big loss. just can't like, chew any candy on one side of my mouth, whatever.

weellllll. was eating a protein bar today (it was cold and a little firm, also they're a little sticky I guess. and I was chewing it and felt something hard?? so I took it out and was like, great, they put a fucking pebble in my protein bar 🙄 but then I cleaned it up and saw that it had like... cusps. and I felt my mouth with my tongue, and there was a gap where a tooth had once been. and so I was like, ah did my wisdom tooth fall out on its own? and is it only that small???

but NO I went to look in a mirror and.. it should be a surprise to nobody except for maybe the dentist that blew me off that the tooth fractured and split, starting at that cavity (many such cases). and when I think on it, there was some unevenness on the top of it that I think, looking back, was already some crack propagation. and then, as will happen, it finally just broke off under a little bit of stress. sooo.

I got in to see a dentist during my lunch break, they took some xrays, confirmed my suspicions and provided next steps. which will be a crown most likely, but now it's a race to get that prior auth and treatment done before I lose my healthcare in a week!!! yaaaaay

LOUDDDDD. i would talk a lot to anyone who would listen, very confident, got told i was an ‘old soul’ a lot bc i spent most of my time hanging out with adults. i also cried A LOT, like at most minor inconveniences, and was v argumentative and bad at authority figures. somehow, i was not diagnosed with adhd until adulthood.
