there was a bbbat rhyme anima talk event today~ it was as chill of a time as it could be with kimura in the room lol but we got to hear some fun stuff from them!!!!
when asked what were their favourite scenes from the anime, kimura answered the place bbbat’s fight scene episode stood out to him bc it looked like a dungeon
ishiya-san really liked how this time around, they got to rap by groups in addition to teams!!!! it was really neat to sing with his fellow 2gumi lol
amasaki-san loves that one scene from bbbat’s episode where 2️3️⃣🌙⚖️ were attacked by enemies while trying to hit the time switch. that whole it’s a shark!!!! no it’s actually humans!!!! scene is really funny lol
hayama-san really loved seeing everyone’s ending song animations!!!! like you could tell they were made with love and care for each division and their fans
sakakihara-san loved just seeing jyushi’s bandmates make an appearance and seeing them interact within the plot!!!
takeuchi-san really liked the visuals in sanity!!!!! especially that kaleidoscope visual they gave bat!!!!
they also asked for general impression in the anime and starting with bat:
hayama-san was really impressed with the artstyle lol. it’s the first time they got to see bat move and on top of that, the style pays a lot of respect to kazui-sensei’s art!!!!!
sakakihara-san liked how they managed to show jyushi’s growth as a person, have his still push him forward as he takes a step forward to help someone else
takeuchi-san got to see hitoya’s office for himself in the anime and was really impressed with how big his office is actually lmao
on bb side, kimura prefaced with how ordinary bb’s character setting is compared to like, mtc’s yakuza, policeman, soldier set up since they’re just a trio of bros. but that in itself is their power and it’s nice to see in the anime too
ishiya-san liked how they portrayed bonds in the anime and the strength those bonds brought!!! he gave an example of jiro feeling a little pressured but ready to step up to the challenge after hearing saburo’s contributions in the 3gumi episode
amasaki-san really liked how the anime showed a sense of each division protecting their hoods!!! kinda got hoodstar vibes lol
next they had to come up with a word or phrase that encompasses bbbat’s dynamic/vibes. for whatever reason kimura was really having a hard time understanding this as a concept (and it lowkey killed ishiya-san and amasaki-san’s braincells lol) but since bat were on it and ready they went up
hayama-san wrote ‘love’, sakakihara-san wrote ‘shounen manga’ and takeuchi-san wrote ‘one big family’
hayama-san said bbbat share similar expressions of love, bat shows their familial like love, bb has their love as siblings and ichiro and kuukou have carried on their love as partners from their naughty busters days (at which hayama-san and sakakihara-san started giggling like the fudanshi they are LMAO)
their energy and action kinda gives shounen manga to sakakihara-san!!!!
it was at this time bb finished their answers and revealed they all so happened like woah crazy coincidence bruh wrote the same stupid pun that doubled as them saying ‘they’ve got some kick ass ball busting energy!!!’ and them flexing their bonds lol
bc of this takeuchi-san didn’t get to explain lol and after kimura poked fun at him for it, hayama-san managed to tie all their response together since they were still similar in vibe. amasaki-san said hayama-san was being too nice to them LOL 😭😭😭
the last segment was them playing a quiz game where they had to watch a scene from the anime and answer a weirdly specific question about it lol. bat won 30-29 (LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO) and it was very entertaining lol but there were two moments that made me really laugh lmao
at the start of it, ishiya-san and amasaki-san all of a sudden stood up and started jeering and shit talking like actual six year olds lol. not a single bat seiyuu had the thought to rise to the provocation LOL but takeuchi-san protectively blocked them with his arm and told them they didn’t to need to stoop to their level lmao
for the first question, they needed to answer what was ichiro’s phone battery at in the scene. kimura loudly stated this was his hour (he knew the answer lol) and as takeuchi-san stepped up to rep bat’s answer, hayama-san coyly leaned over to look directly at kimura to ask, ‘was it in the 70s? 🙂or the 60s? 🙂maybe 50s? 🙂’ and the way kimura just froze LOL
kimura: that was really scary!!! like yikes!!!! yikes!!!! i thought i was being puppeted for a second!!!!! 😭😭😭😭😭

Second season has been suffering a little with the mostly irredeemable Seiko match. Except now we get a fourth-wall-breaking tensai who does have something actually wrong with him and is also…everything about it tells me it should be read a joke except for the part that it’s done so solemnly…bisexual

way too many people feel comfortable joking about bigotry that doesn’t affect them (but ESPECIALLY racism) as long as the joke itself portrays the bigotry as bad and it’s like you’re still making a joke about something you’ll never have to deal with and benefit from...

hi! Thanks for your hard work, it’s always nice to read your thoughts and perspective! I want to ask about your opinion on this: what do you believe was the purpose of showing Katsuki running away from girls with Shōto, the classmates wondering about him in particular, and Izuku’s answer? I tried to understand why, but I have no idea why he would say that (and for others to be kind of awkward/weirded out by Katsuki’s reaction but don’t mention Shōto’s)
You're sweet! Thank you for the nice comment.
To be honest, I feel like you asked this hoping I'll say the point of this scene to tell us Katsuki is gay. But I mean... you can just read the rest of the series and figure that one out, pal!
This scene is comic relief during a really emotionally heavy point in the story, and the answer to "why focus on Katsuki's reaction" is straight forward: Shouto's reaction is mild at best, there's nothing to comment on. He was confused and annoyed, but he immediately voices a willingness to talk to them one-on-one, meanwhile Katsuki is SCREAMING about how they should all be expelled. This sits squarely in line with every other time we're given a side-by-side comparison of these two.
Tumblr media
Chapter 165
Everyone thinks Katsuki's tactics are overblown and inappropriate. Shouto calmly convinces him to try a different approach.
Tumblr media
Chapter 241
Shouto comes across as an awkward but overall nice young man, while Katsuki is rude and overly aggressive. The news crew cut out everything Katsuki said, so he barely appeared in their hour-long interview.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Chapter 430
Even in the final chapter, Katsuki is shown losing his shit at somebody trying to film him, while the awkward Shouto never turns a fan away.
In comedy terms, Shouto is the straight man (tsukkomi) to Katsuki's funny man (boke). Katsuki is outrageous, Shouto is deadpan.
The reactions of their classmates in 428 also make perfect sense.
Shinsou is the only one who is truly surprised, because he knows Katsuki the least. He knows Katsuki's external persona, someone who is cocky, ambitious, and seeks recognition. Shinsou also has eyes—Katsuki is attractive, and the series often makes a joke of the fact that he would be popular and get the recognition he demands if he just changed his personality.
Sero, on the other hand, knows Katsuki is easy to rile up and embarrass in part because he's usually the one roasting Katsuki. But he also defends him, because even though Katsuki's reactions are always a bit much, it's normal to be overwhelmed by a mob of people screaming and chasing you.
Kaminari and Mineta are the "horny teen boy" duo; Mineta's perverted behavior is more extreme, but Kaminari has always been his comrade in whinging over a desire for female attention. They are both jealous and irritated.
Izuku is being a fucking nerd as always. He is never surprised when Katsuki gets attention or praise, because he thinks the world of that boy. Post-DvK2, he reacts to Katsuki's feistiness with blatant fondness, so even when other people are like "dude, calm down!" Izuku's response is pretty much always, "haha, that's Kacchan for you!" Izuku is ecstatic for the opportunity to show off how well he knows Kacchan, practically bragging about their status as childhood friends. He is also oblivious to the fact that "Kacchan's never gotten attention from girls" might sound like he's making fun of Katsuki; like Sero, Izuku is defending him.
As a strong appreciator of the way MHA's comedic elements are integral to the story, I would also argue that this scene serves to remind the audience that the general public's perception of Katsuki has changed.
Katsuki was undeniably heroic during the final battle, and there are a bunch of little moments that highlight how his growth is observable to all, even those who previously thought poorly of him.
But that's a conversation for another day!

TV Guide & TV Station Magazine (Kansai Editions) ft. King-Ohger Cast Interviews for Adventure Heaven (translation below, spoilers)
TV Guide: Half movie talk (beginning), half fun free talk (second half)
TV Station: All movie talk . . . _
TV Guide (page 38-39)
Sakai: The film has wonderful guests such as Shido Nakamura-san and voice actress Ayane Sakura-san. The interaction with them left a deep impression on me.
Watanabe: There's a scene where Gira (Sakai) fights with Reiniol, who is played by Shido-san.
Sakai: There's also a scene where it looked like they were performing tsubazeriai (crossing swords and getting in each others faces).
🕷️Ikeda: Was it really intense when you faced each other?
Sakai: It was too intense! The atmosphere created the moment the cameras started rolling was beyond overwhelming, and it almost felt like I was being "swallowed up." I thought I was going all out, but I guess I wasn't. When we decided to do one more take, Shido-san said, "Come on!" He was very enthusiastic.
All: Whoa~!
Sakai: It feels like I'm only half joking, but he created an atmosphere that said, "Come at me again," I was able to give it everything I had.
Murakami: During the filming of Gira's coronation, I had an opportunity to talk with Sakura-san, who played Devonica. We all had the chance to talk with her and noticed she has a really nice voice.
Hirakawa: It almost resonates.
Murakami: We learned a lot about voices. She performed various voice patterns in front of me, such as low, high, resonant, straight, and a voice with an emotional range. It's an experience that only you can only see in this film.
🐝Kaku: Like the TV series, the CG in this film is amazing. We were surprised to see such original backgrounds, which are even more beautiful and fantastic than those in the TV series. As we watched it on the monitor we were amazed while going, "Oooh." I hope everyone can experience the scale of this film at the theater.
Hirakawa: I think the story is enjoyable, and contains a strong message.
🕷️Ikeda: I would like to encourage you all to see it on the big screen, as I'm sure you'll be impressed by how it evolves from the TV series in so many ways.
Sakai: It's been about half a year since the TV series started filming, and everyone in the cast is naturally getting closer to each other.
🐝Kaku: (to Murakami) You've been making alot of funny faces recently, right?
Murakami: Eeeh? you noticed?!
🕷️Ikeda: When you're tired right? (laughs).
Murakami: Mainly when I start my "engine," or when I'm sleepwalking. Sometimes it seems as if I'm not listening to what others are saying. The other day, Aoto-kun was holding a bottle of water and saying something weird like, "If you want this water, you have to pay 1,000 yen."
Watanabe: If you cut that just that part out, it sounds like a totally unfunny joke! (laughs)
Hirakawa: I'll start from the very beginning (laughs). Aoto-kun walked along a muddy road in the heat to get water for the film site.
🐝Kaku: It took about 20 minuets.
Hirakawa: That's why he jokingly said, "1 bottle is 1,000 yen."
Murakami: But I had just woken up from sleeping and was still feeling abit fuzzy, so I accepted what he said with as normal with a, "Thank you," while making no comments (laughs). If I were my normal self, I would've been more careful and said something. But in this worksite, you can be relaxed without worrying about anything.
Sakai: Lately, you've even started to make yourself laugh (laughs).
Murakami: I was able to train myself, since everyone is so good at boke-tsukkomi (double act)
🐝Kaku: My arms, are up (banzai) (laughs).
Hirakawa: It's about relationship trust. You can go big, because I think everyone will pick up on it.
Sakai: That's right. If you say something, someone will surely pick up on it.
Murakami: Thank you.
Sakai: Finally, which of the 5 countries in the story would you rather live in?
Murakami: I'd want to live in the country of Toufu, where Kaguragi (Kaku) is a Lord. I think it'd be really fun being one of the his citizens, because it's full of hospitality and delicious foods.
🐝Kaku: If there's filming in Toufu, rice is always served.
Hirakawa: Their rice is very tasty. I'd like to live in the country of N'Kosopa, where Yanma (Watanabe) is King, and I'd enjoy my life relying on technology. I want to leave everything to the machines and say, "Take care of me."
Watanabe: Although it's not depicted, I've always thought that there's a sauna in the country of Gokkan, where Rita (Hirakawa) is the King. That's why I want to go to Gokkan, for the sauna.
Hirakawa: If I ordered it, they might make one, but it's too cold to bathe in the open air of Gokkan (laughs).
Watanabe: I see (laughs).
🐝Kaku: For me it's Queen Hymeno's (Murakami) country of Ishabana. If I have an injury on my knee or shoulder and I want it to be healed, it'd be easy to do so.
Sakai: I think I could become macho.
🐝Kaku: Yes, yes. I'm sure you're doing a lot of health research on that.
Sakai: I'm not…
🐝Kaku: Say Toufu.
Sakai: Maybe Ishabana…
🐝Kaku: Why not?! (laughs)
Sakai: Maybe it is Toufu. I like the country side feel of the place! It's like there's nothing there…
🐝Kaku: "Nothing." That's a bit harsh, isn't it? (laughs)
Sakai: I'm joking, I'm joking (laughs)
🕷️Ikeda: For me it's N'Kosopa. I want to play games with Yanma and win.
Watanabe: Oooh~ sounds good!
Hirakawa: Well, It's a tie (laughs).
🕷️Ikeda: Shugoddam isn't popular, huh…(laughs).
Murakami: Shugoddam is a country full of small happiness, but many forms of it.
Watanabe: But, if I were to bring my camera, I would take it to Shugoddam. The architecture there is beautiful.
🕷️Ikeda: It's a European-styled town…and what do you mean "if you bring a camera?" (laughs)
Sakai: The question was "if you want to live there." (laughs)
_
TV Station Magazine (page 96-97)
"Bonds of the Young Kings"
Sakai: The first film for Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger will be released, and when I first read its script, I was very excited to see how the coronation of Gira would turn out, and thought alot about how I would act out his responsibility as king.
Watanabe: When I read the script for the confrontation scene in the film's climax between Gira and Reiniol (Shido Nakamura), the first King of the Kingdom of Death, It made me remember my audition. At that time, I was asked to watch a confrontation scene between Gira and Racules (Masato Yano), and Gira truly looked as though he was shining. As for myself, between the two of them, I was more influenced by Reiniol's way of thinking this time, but even still, I want the children to see Gira succeed.
Murakami: There were multiple scenes in the film where I thought I saw a new side out of all six of us. I wasn't sure how the scene where Hymeno meets her parents in the Kingdom of Death would be executed, so I prepared myself alittle for that part before we started filming.
Hirakawa: I was curious how we would film Gira's coronation and, on a personal level, how we would express a side of Rita that they had not shown before in the TV series. I was looking forward to it, but was also a little worried about possibly ruining what I had established so far.
🐝Kaku: I was very excited about the whole story, including the development of Gira's determination to become king despite hesitating. There are scenes where Kaguragi touches on his past mistakes, and It makes me understand what kind of mindset he had when he became king, so I can't wait to see how it plays out in the film.
🕷️Ikeda: I was honestly impressed by Gira's words. Going to the Kingdom of Death made me think a lot about the meaning of my life and, "what does happiness mean?" I think you'll be able to realize it, that even the smallest of happiness is such a wonderful thing.
Murakami: Between takes, I had a chance to talk with Ayane Sakura-san (Devonica), and she showed me how she does her voice in various patterns while right in front of me. It was a unique experience that can only be seen in this film.
🐝Kaku: The whole film was shot with green screen, but the backgrounds of the world were more magical than those found in the TV series. I was truly impressed by how beautiful the CG was.
Sakai: I think it was the scene where Shido-san and I are fighting. I wanted to go all out, but I guess I was alittle nervous, and the scene lacked some impact. When they decided to shoot the scene one more time, Shido-san said, "Come on!" he was very encouraging and created an atmosphere of excitement. Thanks to him, I was able to give it my all.
🕷️Ikeda: The cost of Gira's coronation has become a hot topic for some time. It's really cool, isn't it? It seems to be one of the main points this time.
Sakai: I also thought it was cool.
🐝Kaku: Also, the fight scene at the end is cool. Saying famous quotes before battle.
🕷️Ikeda: I think the film shows off everyone's good sides, such as how a king is supposed to act.
Watanabe: The part where each king confronts their past, Hymeno's scene had additional dialogue at the end, didn't it?
Murakami: I added the lines.
Watanabe: That part was really well done. I personally thought it was cool.
Murakami: I didn't know how it was going to turn out, and I was also worried about it, so…thank you (laughs).
Hirakawa: Gira, Yamma, and Rita perform actions in their pre-transformation stage. We worked hard on it, and I think it came out looking cool.
Murakami: I also really like the way in which Kaguragi confronts the past Queen.
🐝Kaku: Thank you. The scene with Yanma and Shiokara (Chiwata Yuhei) is also interesting.
Watanabe: Gira is both very straightforward and cool, so I hope that children will think, "I want to be like Gira too." With that, I hope you'll come to the movie theater with your family to see it.
Murakami: Each line has its own message, and feels like it has weight to it, so I would be happy if you could feel them as well.
Hirakawa: I think the message is very strong as the kings face their past. The story is also connected to the TV series, so I hope that you;ll enjoy.
🐝Kaku: The production of the film is different from that of TV series, so I'm sure that when people see the film, they'll think, "King-Ohger looks very interesting."
🕷️Ikeda: The world view of King-Ohger will evolve further and will definitely impress you when you see it on the big screen, so please come and see it.
Sakai: I would like you to see the determination of each king on the big screen. I'd be very happy if you could come to the theater to see this film, which we put alot of effort into. We look forward to seeing you!

HELLOOOO i love your works sm omg !! can i request red chrysanthemums, forget-me-nots, morning glory, pansy & yellow tulips with nayuta yatonokami? thank you so much!!!
(yellow tulips already done!)
Nayuta Yatonokami:
🌻forget-me-nots: what do they do to get their s/o’s attention?
Nayuta doesn’t have to do much to get your attention. Simply being around you draws your attention but he’s quite funny when he wants to be, and hearing someone normally so straight-faced say something akin to a joke was always attention grabbing. He relies on random chance to have you run into each other as he’s not an active participant in the romance until he knows you’re all in.
🌻morning glory: what is their favorite form of physical affection?
Nayuta liked to hold you. He often did it stealthily, arms wrapping around you from behind in a ghost like embrace. He had to remind himself that you were still there and real, able to feel your warm body against his. He doesn’t mind being held but he much preferred to do the holding, keeping you close to his chest and refusing to let you move away.
🌻pansy: who likes to tease their s/o the most? how do they react to being teased?
Nayuta has his moments, especially if you’re the reactive type. He has a talent for keeping a completely straight face when saying sweet borderline embarrassing things, and you can’t figure out how he managed it. You almost resemble a comedy duo, where you’re the boke to his tsukkomi.
🌻red chrysanthemums: how long does it take for them to say ‘i love you’?
It depends on if he feels it fits into the moment. Nayuta doesn’t overthink the first confession, his first ‘I love you’ is casual, direct and said without hesitation. It’s not that he thinks it’s not a big deal, but he thought his actions made it obvious how special you were to him. He wouldn’t understand why you might be surprised that he drops the L word on a random Wednesday when you’re eating lunch together, thinking it was natural to just go with the flow and say what you feel when you felt like it.

hi lxmelle!! I have another jp(?) and jjk related question that I'm too shy to ask anyone else again ... do you know why takaken (takaba x kenjaku) is called pinchan? 🤔
and also how are you doing? 😄
also also, I had another question, but I totally forgot what it was. I might come back to ask if that's okay 🥲
again you don't have to answer ! that's all thank you🩷
Hi lex!!
Thank you for sending me an ask!
Hehe, I think you’re thoroughly adorable 😆 I’m sorry this took a while - you can ask me anything, anytime! It’s nice to have something to write about on this platform - I probably get a bit too noisy on Twitter/X, so I appreciate the opportunity to do something here as well.
So about Takaba x Kenjaku… From what I understand, TakaKen being “Pinchan” is the equivalent to GojoGeto being “Harattare Honpo” - it’s their manzai name (stage name).
That’s the straightforward & simple answer to the question!
But I think… perhaps some context might be useful? I hope you don’t mind, I’ll just blab a little bit on the arc & manzai in general. If you want to skip it, that’s fine! More under the cut:
I will once again preface with that I’m not Japanese, and haven’t lived there, so my understanding is through research and from being… uh, I guess an otaku / fujoshi / someone who had an interest in Japanese culture once upon a time 😅
So if there are inaccuracies, please feel free to educate me and I hope it’ll also allow others to learn from your knowledge. The bottomline is, even if I dare to write about stuff and talk freely about what I think, I’m in no way trying to claim myself as a subject matter expert. I just like to ramble, and I’m no better than anyone else - these are just my opinions free for anyone to read and you’re all welcome to make up your own mind 😄
With that out of the way...
So I’ll take the opportunity to offer a little bit of what I’ve come to understand… there are comedic duos (combi / コンビ) who do manzai / skits with set roles of the boke and tsukkomi, and also solo comedians (pin-geinin / ピン芸人). Sometimes duos & solos alike will partner up for shows and variety programmes, making it a nice mix of characters and dynamics. Some of these are quite popular internationally.
Kenjaku making it up on the spot on the grand stage in the “finale” of his battle with Takaba is likely a nod / reference to this manzai culture, where the “pin” in “pinchan” is from “pin-geinin” (solo comedic act), which makes it humorously ironic because they’re a “combi” / duo.
To add to the irony, they’re a manzai duo / combi comprised of enemies… They are on opposing sides but get along? It’s funny!
The more I think about it, the more it appears to me that pinchan represents some kind of dark irony.
For example, Kenny appeared to have worked solo (“pin”) for decades doing his brain-hopping thing with his research & awful experiments and Takaba has always wanted a suitable partner to be a “combi” in his manzai career. They stumbled upon their amazing chemistry by accident, that it was fun, and discovered these feelings within the battle - it’s quite bittersweet and sadly ironic to enjoy something together but ultimately have to mean to harm the other until there is just one.
And as light-hearted as comedy is, what they’re doing is also ironic because it’s totally not light-hearted to want to kill the other. So it’s like proclaiming “we are a solo!” They’re a combi/soulmates! …but they have to kill each other.
The “cute” nature of the honorific -chan also makes it more ironic because, in actuality, the skit itself that brought them together is a battle to the death. It’s so dark. There is irony and duality intermingled in the entire scene. It’s a bit sad, too - which I guess is also shown in how there were mixed feelings between the duo with Takaba crying and Kenjaku appearing rather stoic.
Someone joked on X that with chan gone there can only be pin left. And who knows who is meant to be pin or chan, lol. So I guess it’s quite well understood that the term “pinchan” has some reference to a pin-geinin / solo comedic performance.
I hope my thoughts made sense 🤔 it sounded ok (well, better) in my head, so I never really know how it’s received.
Ah and honestly, lately my brain like Swiss cheese, so I forget a lot of stuff… there are times where I can’t remember what I’ve written, or where 😂 please forgive me if I sound like a broken record.
As for how I am, I’m constantly shifting gears in my head at the moment as I juggle this and that. But! I’m doing good, thanks for asking~!! 🫶 How are you doing? And btw, everyone else is welcome to also post a comment 😃 and tell us how you are!
Comments and thoughts welcomed! Repost, comment, do what you like 😄

Noir Bouquet Ep 1 Watch Party Notes
They had the merch from the cafe in front of them!
It was advertised that all the seiyuus would be there, but Murase (Tuxam's seiyuu) was late, or something. (Expected, to be honest.) They joked that he ran there.
They ran another little quiz for the voice drama.
They spent some time introducing the Fragaria Memories project, the characters, and a basic plot for the drama (we all know this).
(They introduced Pikero as a "outrageous" Fragaria… and someone called Lily sexy and it started a minor squabble, lol)
They're doing the Seeds thing during the little game they have in the livestreams again.
(I have… no idea why Arupek's seiyuu was just. Panting. I have no idea what Pikero's seiyuu was doing or what he drew. Why did Hangyon's seiyuu draw a box with the kanji for love in it??? Why was Badobarm's seiyuu panting too??? What was Chaco's seiyuu doing???? What the hell happened??????)
Okay… I think they were miming out or drawing "hints" for the plot. (Is this okay, Sanrio????????)
Break happened here
Oh hey Murase's here. (He took a taxi but it's Japan on a Friday night.)
Turns out Chaco's seiyuu was the one controlled by the Seeds in the earlier… charades game.
They chatted about the voice drama for a while. I think Hangyon and Pikero both played the boke to Tuxam's tsukkomi. (I lost focus here, to be honest.)
New song, Charcoal White! Chaco song that was previewed on Twitter earlier. (And is premiering… pretty much as of posting this. It'll be available on streaming services at midnight locally.)
More info about Wish is…! Seems like Murase will be there on the second day during the day performance! (He's pretty busy for a Fragaria seiyuu, so the fact he's there at all is surprising!)
Collab cafe information! It starts tomorrow at Shibuya PARCO! You get a paper placemat for free, and I think every order comes with a random paper coaster you can take home.
They tried the dishes in real time… Badobarm's seiyuu scoffed it down, lol. I wish I could say the other seiyuus ate and drank their dishes normally, but we all saw the face Pikero's seiyuu made when he bit into the donut. Badobarm's seiyuu is losing his mind over the cold noodle dish for some reason. Arupek's seiyuu also drowned Arupek in his drink.
They're staring a series of 4koma from 13/05!! It'll be uploaded to the Twitter!
There'll be a performance at Animelo Summer Live on 31/08! All of them… except Murase…
Tomorrow's Knight Link will be the same cast as last week; Cielomort, Klarkstella, and Louterstella! (I hope they archive the cast side somewhere one day, that'd be neat.) The week after that will be Tuxam, Hangyon, and Pikero!! They previewed the cast side in the watch party stream after they said bye.

Note
I dunno if anyone's written in about this yet, but the 'angry guy' joke in the previous chapter of xxxHOLiC is a reference to a type of Japanese standup comedy called boke and tsukkomi, usually loosely translated as "dumb guy and angry guy," in which the boke says something silly or outrageous, and the tsukkomi gets mad about it. A lot of magna artists, CLAMP included, like to riff on the setup.
Thank you! I had a feeling it was a return to that joke, but it's very nice to know for sure! Clamp are very fond of it.

On Boke-Tsukkomi versus RonToto
I don’t know how many times i watched this particular scene and was thankful that it got animated.
Comedic duos are predominantly popular both in the West like the legendary Laurel and Hardy and elsewhere. Japan, on the other hand, has had a traditional comedy called manzai, a double act stand-up, with its boke-tsukkomi exchange.
Boke and tsukkomi are generally translated as ”the fool or funny man” and ”the sharp man or straight man” respectively. The funny man is defined as a man whose job is to entertain people by telling jokes. ( x )
Youhei Azakami describes his Ron’s and Toto’s interplay in this two-part article.
Basically, Toto (Enokijun) is the tsukkomi and Youhei is the boke.
Director Shōta (Ihata) emphasizes the tempo of Ron and Toto's interaction, and I feel that he is looking at the boke and tsukkomi of the two in detail. Therefore, the direction from the director and staff is very educational, but not only that, Junya (Enoki), who plays the role of Toto, also gives me tremendous stimulation. I think Tsukkomi tends to be a pattern, but Junya-kun is very resourceful and "This is how you come!" A tsukkomi like that comes. (In the original manga) Toto is a character that speaks in big voice and straight, and is also cute and nice, but Junya breaks it even more and devise it so that the same tsukkomi will be different… So I'm excited about “what kind of tsukkomi will come here,” and I'm aware that my boke (laughs) …
Journalist : Completely fits with Ron (laughs).
That's right… You've received a lot of stimulation from Junya.
Junya Enoki is that sort of actor whose dedication to voice acting is top notch. He crawls, kneels down, goes to the floor to create a certain effect. Just watching the bts for a recording of “Jujutsu Kaisen” is already an emotional feat.

Journalist : What do you think Toto is for Ron?
Ron is a character who can originally deduce most things and predict the future development. He’s also a realist, and will never do anything inefficient. I think it was a surprise that a guy who had such behavior met Toto, whose ethos is to save others even if he throws his life away. Toto is the exact opposite of Ron. While he acts the way Ron doesn’t expect him to be, he wants to see more about Toto’s actions and know his thoughts. It starts with such curiosity and gradually turns into a friendship. At first, I think, it's a warm development that the two people who have joined hands for the reason that “their interests coincide each other” will build a relationship of trust little by little while solving the mystery together.
Journalist : I agree. Where do you think that turning point is?
Of course, I think the fact that Toto saved the criminal’s life in the first episode is one point. After that, Ron will be in a pinch in future episodes, but Toto will save his predicament and that Ron couldn't do it alone. That's definitely the turning point for them. I would be happy if you could look forward to it.
Very curious how Wataru and co. will analyze and interpret their relationship. Akira’s descriptions of it is scattered on the manga by way of explaining to the readers how the other characters perceive it. So it is up to the anime writers to put them into action.

Fun Vocabulary & Translation Notes from the Chara Commentary
General
私(あっし)
asshi first-person pronoun mainly used by working class men note: Chuchu uses this
漫才
manzai = a traditional Japanese comedy format Typically performed by a 突っ込み tsukkomi (straight man) and a 惚け boke (funny man) Part 2 - Secelia wrote 21 "tsukkomi patterns" to react to Guel, who is (unknowingly) serving as the boke in this case. Part 3 - Elan and El5n's intro bit flops. Guel comments that it's like a failed attempt at a manzai routine, which Suletta recognizes from old archival material she's watched. Part 4 - When Shaddiq joins, he has no interest in joking around and playing the role of a boke.
普通
futsuu = normal; ordinary; regular; usual; common; average Part 2 - When Miorine asks Suletta if she thinks Guel is funny, her response is: 私は普通ですけど… Watashi wa futsuu desu kedo... note: literally "I am [my reaction is] normal," but translated it to "To me… he’s normal…" Part 3 - Adding ni makes this into an adverb, like in Suletta's line: やっぱり普通に聞いてるじゃないですか! Yappari futsuu ni kiiteru janai desu ka! note: literally "So you were listening normally [in the sense of 'without issue']!" but translated to "So you did see and hear everything...!"
Part 1
弱肉強食
jakunikukyoushoku jaku = weak, niku = meat, kyou = strong, shoku = eat note: translated to "eat or be eaten"
水星生まれ!水星育ち!
Suisei umare! Suisei sodachi! Suisei = Mercury, umare = birth, sodachi = upbringing note: translated to "Mercury born and raised!"
Part 2
三下り半 (or 三行半)
mikudarihan mi = three, kudari = down, han = half literally "three and a half lines," refers to the Edo period practice of sending a letter of divorce typically comprised of 3 and a half lines in modern Japanese, it's a slang term that means a unilaterally decided, less than amicable separation note: translated to "a messy divorce"
Part 4
あれは役でげすよ
are wa yaku degesu yo = literally "that is the role" In his intro, Shaddiq says this. It purposefully uses an archaic conjugation to get the same number of mora as "alea jacta est" pronounced in Japanese (area yakuta esuto). note: translated to "playing the role as cast" (imagine it being said with the same cadence as "alea jacta est")
見せ腹野郎
miseharayarou mise = showing, hara = belly; one's true intentions, yarou = guy; bastard Chuchu calls Shaddiq this. The phrase works both in the physical sense (Shaddiq's outfit exposes his chest/stomach) and the figurative sense (his true motives have been revealed).
賽 (“die”) and 犀 (“rhinoceros”) are both pronounced sai
Alea jacta est is Latin for "the die is cast," which Miorine explains as 賽は投げられた sai wa nagerareta (literally "the die has been thrown"). Suletta hears sai and thinks it's the word for rhinoceros. note: I gave up and just put a TL note in the video for this, lmao
ふんぞり返る
funzorikaeru = to recline; to be arrogant Another description that works in both the physical sense (Elan is usually depicted as sitting back in a chair) and figurative sense (he's cocky). El5n calls Elan out for just sitting back and letting the Enhanced Persons suffer in his stead.

babbling: points at gntm tsukkomis theyre so good at playing toys. and also some of the bokes too. points at the tsukky-sacchan dynamic that we deserved more of. sacchan is so good at playing toys. tsukky is not very good at playing toys. does she ever fourth wall break? hm. hm. (memory failing me->) does fourth wall breaking even happen at all in the yoshiwara arcs. yoshiwara still being outside (?) apart from (?) beside (?) the "normal world" = edo. [new pt] comedic tone of gntm in chapter 1 isnt apparent until shinpachis first over the top tsukkomi, despite the setup (pachi depicting normalcy through exposition, demonstrating his shitty job where he ATTEMPTS to keep in like) boke (gintoki showing up and kicking ass heedless of the decorum expected of a person in that situation) both being present. the events are only retroactively recognised as {[setup, boke] = part of the joke} once we see the tsukkomi. the way out is stored in the pattsuan..? [new pt] tama is not good at playing toys. in the same way that tsukky isnt good at playing toys and hijikata (bushuu) isnt good at playing toys. theyre learning. [segue] sougo doesnt genuinely find hijikata annoying. theyre play fighting (sougo does not want to admit this.) points at mitsuba arc flashbacks + anime only post episode extra that i only recently learned about (!?) vs. oh i dont know. pick any comedy interaction between these two. theyre playing toys. wait wait oh soul switch hijikata (gintoki) walking down the stairs from the roof is a good comparison. [new pt] points. timeskip arc. points. character poll arc. ^_^ [new pt] i didnt manage to talk about him yet? yamazaki. hes SO GOOD AT PLAYING TOYS. [runs out of steam and goes to bed]
