Ambiguously Paper-Thin Archaeologist
Here she is, Mugenri's very own girlboss~! I've changed Kuro's design in similar ways to the others, focusing mostly on the shorts (skirt now) and shoes (mostly actually the socks in this case). I tried out a few alternate hat designs but didn't settle on any. For Kuroji's wings, I decided to lean into the arrow shape, and I like the idea that unlike her siblings she didn't have wings until Tsurubami unlocked her ability.
I actually did this one much earlier than the other two Shitodos as my contribution to the 10th anniversary art collab being organised by the len'en discord.

For the draw thing (if your still doing them!), how about a sassy Kuroji?
Tumblr media
"Oh? Did you really think such ropes could hold me? My my, you're dumber than I thought! Your pathetic plan was doomed the moment you involved me in it.
But don't worry! I'm willing to thoroughly teach you on the whys and hows so you don't make that mistake again! Very, very thoroughly..."
Sorry this took so long! But I am starting to feel much better overall, so you get a colored version as an apology. I think I made them more menacing than sassy, but that's Kuroji for you I guess lol.

Conversation Prompt
“Don’t you ever get tired of dying every day?”
“We all die. Every day, we all die a little bit.”
“Yes, but most of us don’t revel in it like you do. Don’t you ever get tired of your own misery and selfishness? Because I know I do.”

Propaganda
Yukari Yakumo
As described by many characters, she is a cunning mastermind with incredible intellect (enough to surpass computers) and a tendency to formulate plans to get what she wants. Her deceitful and scheming side is concealed under a boastful mask of whimsy and extravagance, and she enjoys being equally feared for her power as much as she's almost revered: some fear that reality is just a dream of hers, and she claims to be indestructible. When she was a human, she viewed herself as better than most people due to her spiritual abilities and interests, called herself a celebrity, and embarked on a sudden, dangerous trip fueled by spite at the thought of being wrong about something.
---
Kuroji Shitodo
This bitch internal hierarchies sooo hard. If they don't give a shit about you you're nothing but a potential resource to them. If you're Tsubakura, you're really fucking amazing and the only person who should ever be allowed to put them down ever.
Also they have such a desire to control their image to the point. They once bitched at Tsubakura for lying by... Saying good things about them (their desired image is asshole).

Do you ship it?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
reason: Kuroji has an inferiority complex towards Tsubakura but it's a bit different from what you'd think because Kuroji will happily admit that Tsubakura is better than them. Like, they're still aiming to surpass Tsubakura, but at the same time, you get the feeling they'd be very surprised if they actually succeeded.
Also Tsubakura kinda considers Kuroji a good person sometimes, which is huge because barely anyone would consider Kuroji a good person at all. Because they're not. Tsubakura isn't either by the way let me get this clear.
They have nice banter.

Round One Match Twelve: Tsubakura Enraku and Kuroji Shitodo (Len'en Project) vs Adora and Catra (She-Ra)
Tumblr media
why should you vote for them?
Tsubakura Enraku and Kuroji Shitodo (1):
I'll just link you to some screenshots I've prepared over the years, because they do all the talking for me honestly. If you wanna make this quick, I've ☆d the really important ones, but I included everything I deemed as evidence. Len'en is a very obscure series so I need to make a stronger case than anyone. These are in order of game release: Evanescent Existence, "Tsubakura" vs Kuroji (side note, the Tsubakura here is actually a fake, but it's Kuroji's feelings that matter). Earthen Miraculous Sword, every time Kuroji vagues Tsubakura (to be clear "black" is being used as an adjective to describe Tsubakura's clothing, unfortunately there aren't any dark-skinned characters in these games yet). These are fruit because it proves how much of Kuroji's headspace Tsubakura occupies. Reactive Majestical Imperial: Slaver Team (context: Kuroji blackmailed the character named Saragimaru into doing their bidding) vs Shrine Team (aka Tsubakura and their partner, Yabusame). Scoundrel Team (consisting of Kuroji and their two younger siblings, Hooaka and Aoji) vs Tsubakura: Context: Kuroji and their siblings got attacked by one of Tsubakura's old enemies. Kuroji chose not to inform Tsubakura about the appearance of said enemy. Still not entirely sure why but I think the justification was a combination of not wanting to kill Tsubakura's vibe and that Tsubakura could handle said enemy (so I've synthesized that into a headcanon about Kuroji wanting Tsubakura to randomly encounter and hopefully neutralize that enemy instead of playing defensively). Book of the Cafe (Context: This is just a demo. The gist of the dialogue we have there is that these two characters, NiLU and Tom, are looking through the dialogue of the first game and speaking their thoughts on it.)
Adora and Catra (2):
Catra spends five seasons (and arguably her whole life) obsessed with Adora and no matter what Adora always has some level of hope that Catra can be better and they love each other but they won't say it out loud until one of them is actively dying
Sasunaru but for girls and canon

64 Reasons You Should Vote For Iyozane In The Next Popularity Poll
Someone on Discord said they'd vote for Iyozane if I came up with 64 reasons why they should. Naturally, as the number one Iyozane fan of the fandom, I took up that challenge. Of course, I couldn't come up with all of these reasons on my own! I also had some help from some discord buddies. Their names are BlueKirby, Tree, snaa, my man, and showtime. Now, let us begin~
They're pathetic.
They say "heek!" sometimes and I think if they had voiced lines that particular line would be cute.
They have so much audacity (based on "Well I'm related aren't I?" in response to Tsugumi's shock at them being the former crown prince).
Sometimes they say shocking things and don't elaborate (based on the entire New Emperor Brilliant Route).
They seem too stubborn to give up on things, even when they probably should (this is based on them still boating people across the strait despite the capital getting a ferryboat and sticking with Fumikado despite the plan failing).
They want to be a pirate (pirates are cool).
Despite not being a proper pirate, they have a spell card named "Great Pirate Iyozane" (it's hilarious).
They're friends with ghosts.
Their ghost friends are adorable.
In BoTC their ghost friends spin (this is FanBOX exclusive content as of now but trust me it's adorable).
They're cool.
They can play many instruments.
They carry around a flute in RMI.
They carry around a paddle in BPoHC.
They have a tragic backstory (perfect for angst).
They used to be the crown prince (come on, I know there has to be at least one monarchist in this fandom).
They used to be stuck inside all of the time (as a user of the Internet, you should be able to relate to this, no?)
They managed to recover from their tragic backstory enough to say they have a pretty good life.
They get an extra point for saying this while elbow-deep in debt with Kuroji.
Their backstory also makes their involvement in RMI so funny in retrospect.
They're pretty.
Their hair looks fluffy.
Their hair also looks like it's taken care of well.
They have a cute side ponytail.
They have a boat (boats are cool).
They probably have arm strength from paddling said boat so much.
This implied arm strength also implies that they are toned.
Their ability to cross over waves means that you probably won't get seasick on their boat.
Their smile is adorable.
Their frown is adorable.
Sometimes they open their mouth a little like :o and that's adorable.
They keep Fumikado from doing stupid things.
They think they're above getting involved in stupid things despite very often getting involved in stupid things.
They can wear a coat on their shoulders without it falling off.
This coat also stays on while they're flying.
This coat also has a special compartment for their paddle (if you check their player sprite in BPoHC).
They're good at making chilled tofu.
They're good at making chilled Chinese noodles.
Their soul is drinkable.
They have a specific portrait for getting their soul drunken (JynX is really dedicated~).
They came back to life, which if you think about it makes them kinda like Jesus.
They're siblings with Mitori and Sanra, which means you can draw cute family fanart with them.
You can ship them with many characters, such as Fumikado, Kunimitsu, Tsugumi, and maybe even Kaoru if you try hard enough.
Their design isn't too complicated, which makes them easy to draw.
Their color scheme is calming.
They look like they taste like candy.
Their last name, Fujiwara, can be translated to "Wisteria Field", and wisterias are very pretty~
Their RMI theme slaps.
Their BPoHC theme slaps.
Sometimes they say "yousoro" and I think it's cute (which is translated as "steady as she goes" within Len'en, but I like the way "yousoro" rolls off the tongue better).
According to Mitori, Iyozane is good at playing dumb (imagine the implications for their characterization).
Despite having the desire to be influential, Iyozane has no idea what they're going to do with said influence once they achieve it. (I think it's funny.)
Their spell cards are filled with cool references to boats and the afterlife and whatnot.
They throw lanterns at you in one spell card.
They also have a boat in one of their spell cards.
In a couple of their spell cards they have spirits. These spirits look like flames and it's very cool.
Their spell card background is pretty.
They have consistent safe spots.
Their bomb sounds cool.
Their clothes look soft.
Some of their clothing articles are shiny.
They have big poofy sleeves, both on their shirt and their shoulder jacket.
They don't wear shoes.
Their defeated RMI portrait makes their flute look like it has a bandage on it (I think it's funny).

I would like a social headcanon for Tsubakura and Kuroji, and one about animals for Sukune, please!
Tsubakura has the ability to kiss ass and act polite, since they used to be the owner of their own laboratory and would need to get funding for that, but now that they don't have to navigate social politics, they're not even going to bother playing nice.
Kuroji was better at acting polite, even in the outside world, but nowadays they only act polite if they think it'll benefit them.
Sukune likes animals because animals like living inside of their haniwa and they take it as a compliment. Sometimes they make animal haniwa.

What is your interpretation of Kuroji's relationship with Tsubakura and Saragimaru, if you don't mind me asking?
I don't mind~ Ask away!
(Content warning for attempted murder in Saragimaru's part)
Kuroji with Tsubakura
Kuroji cares deeply for Tsubakura. Openly, too, when they first met.
Here was this talented rookie, ready to make their mark on the world. Kuroji was impressed by their junior researcher, but soon Tsubakura had their curiosity as they quickly climbed the ranks.
Kuroji had taken Tsubakura under their wing, only to be quickly outpassed them. Of course, their was some envy, but for the most part Kuroji was proud.
But affection was a weakness in this rotten army. Affection was a weapon people can use against you. And that's exactly what Kuroji's superiors did.
So Kuroji turned icy whenever around Tsubakura from then on. At first it was out of love, for a way to protect them. But the resentment inside them grew and grew. Why do they get all the love from their superiors, all the praise? They're the one with more seniority!
Even after arriving in Mugenri, that chilly reception still remained. The jealousy Kuroji harbours for Tsubakura runs deep, like roots of a great oak tree wormed into their grey matter. There's a light inside them that still cares for Tsubakura, but its flame is weak.
Perhaps that's what that rotten army wanted all along.
Kuroji with Saragimaru
Saragimaru talks about Yaorochi a lot.
They way they wax poetic about their dear eldest sibling, as if Yaorochi was simply misguided at the moment and will return to their senses any day now.
In many ways, Saragimaru reminds Kuroji of what they used to be like. Young and eager, always following their seniors around like a puppy. Their superiors always knows what's best.
Fucking pathetic.
Isn't Saragimaru supposed to be a youkai? Then why do they act so weak, like a sniffling, snot-ridden child who's lost their way home?! They've lived for so long, they should know better than to mindlessly follow their superiors!
For the most part, Kuroji tries to channel this energy into something more productive; if Saragimaru wants to act like a slave, then fine. They can be their slave. But sometimes their anger gets the better of them, manifesting in different ways. They grow colder towards they Orochi, they lash out and say cruel things to them. One night Saragimaru found them on top of them, knife in hand. They learned they couldn't overpower the youkai.
Other times...other times they reach out, as if they're going to pat Saragimaru on the head. Then the hand snaps back, and their disgusted at their own softness.

"Oh come on! What do we gotta give ya?" the so-called "new emperor" huffed, "Do you want money? Is that it?!"
"If you were to release me from my bonds within the next thirty seconds, I might just feel kind enough to only take off one of your combined limbs," Saragimaru snarled, baring their fangs as they strained against their bonds. Starting with the one who thought sealing ofuda would be a great idea, preferably.
The Fujiwara amongst them, Iyo...whatever it was, hummed in contemptation, their fear licking at their nostrils, "Oh shut it, prisoner! You know that cruel villain in black's weaknesses, don't you?! We're not letting you go until you tell us!"
Ugh...Kuroji...This trio is just another of the many thorns they had littered in their sides. Everyone wants revenge on them—themself included—for any number of cruel deeds committed against them. These ones specifically had a debt problem, last they checked.
But what in the deep bowels of Makai would make these idiots think they are the solution to their financial woes? Even if they were willing to share things like Kuroji's incessant need for the approval of one of the Senri Shrines' local louts or the way they fuss over their younger siblings and them, sometimes, what on earth would they gain from it?
Besides, it's not like these three won't just sell them back to Kuroji when all is said and done, just like during that mock war incident last spring. No. Thanks. They were not about to be humiliated again by their hands when Kuroji alone is a test of their dignity.
So they simply continue to scowl at them, wondering what else would get them to let them go. That would be the least annoying option.
When they finally realized Saragimaru had shut their mouth, the "emperor" turned to look at their subordinates, "Why won't they say anything?! What have we ever done to them?!"
"Ya mean sell 'em back to that scoundrel?" the blonde youkai snarks, an eyebrow raised, "Ah don't think their guard's gonna let itself down a second time after that."
"Hm..." the Fujiwara thinks for a second, then says, "I know, why don't we just threaten their loved ones~! That'll get them talking!"
"Are ya sure that's a good idea? That ofuda probably ain't gonna hold for-"
"That's a great idea, Iyozane!" the emperor proclaims, pumping a fist in the air like that'll hide the scent of fleeting anxiety at the thought on them, "Wait...Who could this grumpy snake ever love anyway?"
Oh no...They better not say...
"Ah mean, they have th' same family name as that Orochi wannabe that haniwa's apparenty friends with," the blonde points out, "If we're really gonna try somethin' like this...maybe they're related?"
"Hm...Now that you mention it...They do look pretty similar..."
Okay, that settles it. There's no way Yaorochi would ever do anything for them, but the mere thought of being seen held captive by these three aggravated them too much to wanna deal with them for much longer.
So they finally quit feigning weakness and poured their magic into the ofuda binding their wrists together. Such could easily hold a youkai under 500 years old, but they'd never hold any over, much less one a couple thousands like them.
Saragimaru rubbed their now raw wrists together as they stood up, what remained of their bonds falling to the ground like paper left out in the rain. The idiots are staring in wide-eyed horror at them.
"Welp, that was a profound waste of my time. Now unless you three have a death wish, I'd advise you just let me go before I call a terrible storm down on all of your heads."
"Ah warned you idiots!"
"Do-Don't worry!" The Fujiwara whimpers, holding their hands up, "We beat them once, we can do it again, right?"
"Yeah! This lowly snake is no match for our combined might!" The moronic excuse for an emperor boldly declares, swinging their club down.
And perhaps, were this any other day, that'd be true. But Saragimaru has no patience or mercy for fools who'd dare threaten not only Yaorochi, but their own (mostly) peaceful way of life. They have no desire to play fair anymore, so they're not going to.
Saragimaru clenches their hands around their naginata, the twits not even bothering to put it further than against a wall, eyes cold with fury, "Very well then. Prepare to be mowed down!"
And so they were. How those fools could ever think they could hold someone like them is beyond them.
"It's pretty rude to kidnap people, you know."
"We need your help."
"Doing a real bad job of convincing me to give it so far."

Cute for the fanfic wip game
how the hell so i have "cute" appear nine times in one of my wips, so im gonna leave you with the one that asks the most questions “‘Cute’ wouldn’t describe people like me.” Kuroji pouted, “If anything, ‘cute’ would better describe people like you.”

How would Kuroji's siblings react to them getting killed by Saragimaru, as what happened in that one fic.
(Referring to my very first fic, "A Single Dying Regret", in which Kuroji was dying of old age and Saragimaru paid them a visit, which ended exactly like this).
Oh boy, I have some thoughts on this. I couldn't figure out if you meant in the verse of that fic or in general. So I did both. Strap yourselves in!
In the timeline of that fic, while I imagine they were anticipating Kuroji's death any day now, they would probably be very shocked to find out their actual cause of death there, for starters. While I do feel Saragimaru wouldn't be sticking around to explain themself, I imagine it wouldn't be too hard to figure out that they were the culprit (at least to the Shitodos).
As for individual reactions...
Hoojiro has already passed on in the timeline there. As a result, she can't really have a reaction to it (though she probably had a long conversation with Kuroji as ghosts once they joined her, so I presume this came up).
Hooaka, once the shock wears off, is probably going to be very angry. While they always got on each other's nerves, at the end of the day they were still family, and very close family at that (and because they are still grieving from losing Hoojiro). So to lose Kuroji in such an unexpected manner (even if their death was coming)? They actually have a target to project said anger onto. Hooaka would probably spend a couple years trying to hunt Saragimaru down for it. Of course, the problem here is that while not on their death bed quite yet, both them and Aoji are still really old. They just can't put up as good of a fight as they used to. So I think it is pretty safe to say Hooaka is not going to be able to return the favor. That just isn't gonna happen. But that doesn't mean Hooaka won't try. Their family has had a lot of weird things happen to them and they've beaten the odds before, so why not now too? So Hooaka can't be talked out of this. Until either they accept what has happened (especially since Saragimaru has a pretty good reason to want Kuroji dead) or they perish, whichever comes first.
Aoji would also probably be very upset at Saragimaru...at least, at first. But I think after a long while, they would come to an uneasy form of acceptance about the whole thing. Kuroji brought their actual demise on themself, and if Saragimaru wanted both them and Hooaka dead, they would've killed both of them after getting done with Kuroji. This is just the last of Kuroji's actions as a greedy scoundrel catching up to them. Make no mistake though, it still fucking stings. Kuroji wasn't perfect by any means, but they still loved them (even if they did some terrible things in order to show it). It just would be more of that melancholic, regretful, "I wish I got to spend more time with them" or "I wish I was kinder to them" sorta thing as they work through it. Aoji just isn't the type to go charging after Saragimaru in search of revenge like Hooaka is here (the fact that they are very old probably helps).
Now as for in the current timeline of canon...Well, that's where things get messy. Mainly because while I absolutely see Saragimaru just offing Kuroji once they've reached the last straw (or Kuroji straight up crosses the Moral Event Horizon, causing Saragimaru to decide they're better off just killing them, whichever you prefer), the specific circumstances that lead up to it would probably play a major factor in how the Shitodo siblings would react. So these are their reactions in what I feel would be the most likely reason for Saragimaru to finally do them in (read: they got sick of being little better than their slave and decided to give them a fatal reminder of who they're dealing with), and under the assumption Saragimaru's revenge didn't have any other caveats, like collateral in the form of the others.
Reaction wise, they're very similar. But since the Shitodos no longer lack the comfort of Kuroji's days already being numbered like in that fic and are not super old (or dead in Hoojiro's case) themselves, things get a little more dicy. And violent.
Hoojiro is still in the Outside World, so she most likely wouldn't know for a long while that Kuroji is dead. When she does find out (whether by getting into Mugenri or otherwise), this would be her worst nightmare come true. One of her greatest fears since her younger siblings were all abducted was essentially this very scenario, even if Kuroji is significantly more at fault for their sorry fate than how she pictured. I can see her seeking out Saragimaru in order to learn what happened from their perspective (and maybe even try and kill them herself if she feels angered enough by their response) and confirm if they went down a similar path as to the one she did in her past. How well that goes (and if she walks away with her life) depends entirely on what lead to Saragimaru killing Kuroji in the first place (and if they aren't still vengeful enough to kill any Shitodo that knocks on their door). Most importantly though, Hoojiro would probably be asking herself things like "Why couldn't it have been me?" and "This never would've happened if I was there to protect them." the entire time they are trying to investigate.
Hooaka, like before, would probably go on an angry rampage in an attempt to murder Saragimaru for murdering their sibling. Unlike in the timeline described above though, Hooaka stands a pretty decent chance of being able to make an honest attempt. Granted, I don't really see them succeeding, because Saragimaru is not going to be fighting with the spell card rules if they can help it, and will be relying on good old fashioned lethal combat in order to keep Hooaka from getting an edge (and because they really don't want to die if they lose the spell card battle), and since Hooaka doesn't seem to have any experience in actual full blown fights with a great chance of death... Yeah. But on the off chance they succeed (since that is still a possibility), Hooaka would most likely find victory very hollow. Killing Saragimaru isn't going to bring Kuroji back. In fact, killing Saragimaru might make things worse (especially if Yaorochi enters the equation and found out about Saragimaru). What Hooaka needs here isn't vengeance, but some help and comfort from their siblings in order to not do something they'll regret.
Aoji here would most likely also be rather angry once the shock wears off, but I feel there would also be quite a bit of fear too. Saragimaru already killed Kuroji, and they know where they live. Could they and Hooaka be next? I think it would make them really anxious, especially since Kuroji was one of their major support systems. I can see them going for revenge of pushed into it (like if Saragimaru does in fact come to kill them and Hooaka), but it would in the form of just making good on Kuroji's old threat and telling Yaorochi about them. Preferably after painting them in a terrible light. And anonymously. But I see what's more likely is a reaction similar to theirs described above, but with thoughts like "If I just saw the signs..." and "I wish Kuroji never brought that snake into our lives..." instead.
In conclusion, Kuroji getting what's coming to them would probably be a lot more tragic than you might think, especially to their own family. To me, at least.

[Mugenri High] Ep. 11
Chapter 1: Farewell, Mugenri High
(Scene: Mugenri High School, on the last day of the semester. The atmosphere is filled with a mix of excitement and nostalgia.)
Shou: (cheerfully sipping rainwater from her cupped hands) Ah, delicious rain! It's the perfect way to start the day.
Jun: (setting up her umbrella stand) Umbrellas for sale! Stay dry and stylish in any weather!
(Yabusame approaches a butterfly fluttering nearby and tries to strike up a conversation.)
Yabusame: Hey there, little butterfly! Want to be friends? We can explore the beautiful meadows together!
(Butterfly flutters away, seemingly uninterested. Yabusame shrugs and continues on with a carefree smile.)
(Scene shifts to the bustling hallways, where students are saying their goodbyes and exchanging contact information.)
Kuroji: (hugging Aoji) Don't forget to keep in touch over the break, okay? We've got to plan our summer adventures!
Aoji: (smiling) Of course! We'll make the most out of our time off. See you soon!
(Clause walks by, absorbed in a book, occasionally glancing up to navigate through the crowd.)
Haru: (approaching Clause) Hey, Clause! Ready for the summer break?
Clause: (looking up from the book) Absolutely. I've got a long list of books to read and plenty of time to relax.
(Haru nods, understanding Clause's love for literature.)
(Sumireko joins the conversation, a bit hesitant.)
Sumireko: Um, guys, I just wanted to say... it's been great getting to know all of you this semester. Mugenri High has been an adventure.
Mitsuko: (smiling) We feel the same, Sumireko. You've become an important part of our little group.
(More students gather around, forming a circle of friends.)
Kurohebi: This semester has been filled with laughter, challenges, and growth. I'm grateful for all the memories we've created together.
Sukune: (with their eccentric speech) Gyuu! This place has been filled with wondrous souls and vibrant energy. It's been a true pleasure, nyo!
(Jun joins the circle, holding an umbrella over her head.)
Jun: Rain or shine, we've weathered it all. Our bonds have only grown stronger. Let's make the most of the summer and come back even stronger next semester!
(The group shares a collective nod, feeling a mix of excitement and anticipation for what lies ahead.)
(Scene fades out with the sound of laughter and friendship echoing through the hallways of Mugenri High.)
Chapter 2: Contrasting Perspectives
(Scene: Classroom, first class of the day. The students are settling into their seats, awaiting the start of the lesson.)
(Hooaka is seen cheerfully skipping outside the classroom, humming a tune and seemingly without a care in the world.)
Hooaka: (whispering to herself) Who needs class when there's a whole world of adventures out there? Time to explore!
(Tenkai, sitting at their desk, is diligently focused, with a notebook open in front of them. They listen attentively to the teacher and carefully jot down notes.)
Tenkai: (whispering to themselves) Every opportunity to learn is valuable. I must absorb as much knowledge as I can to better understand the world around me.
(The teacher begins the lesson, and Hooaka peeks into the classroom from outside.)
Hooaka: (whispering to themselves) Ah, maybe I should go back to class. I don't want to miss out on anything important.
(Hooaka enters the classroom, trying to be inconspicuous.)
Teacher: Hooaka, you're late. Please take your seat.
Hooaka: (sheepishly) Sorry about that, sensei. I got a bit carried away. It won't happen again.
(Hooaka quickly takes a seat, joining the rest of the students. Meanwhile, Tenkai continues to diligently take notes, absorbed in their studies.)
(Scene shifts to the end of the class, with the students packing up their belongings.)
Hooaka: (to Tenkai) Hey, Tenkai! Did I miss anything important during the class?
Tenkai: (closing their notebook) Not really, just a recap of previous topics. But it's always good to be present and engaged in class, Hooaka. You never know when you might learn something new.
Hooaka: (grinning) You're right, Tenkai. I'll try to be more mindful of that. Let's make the most of our time here at Mugenri High!
(Tenkai nods, appreciating Hooaka's enthusiasm.)
(Scene fades out, leaving a sense of camaraderie and the shared goal of embracing learning.)
Chapter 3: Lunchtime Chaos
(Scene: School cafeteria, lunchtime. The students gather around tables, enjoying their meals and engaging in conversations.)
(Shion sits at a table, eyeing Tsubakura from a distance, their mischievous intentions evident. Yabusame joins them, oblivious to Shion's ulterior motives.)
Yabusame: (excitedly) Hey, Shion! How's your day going so far?
Shion: (smirking) Oh, just fine, Yabusame. Say, have you seen Tsubakura around?
Yabusame: (looking around) Hmm, I haven't seen them yet. Why do you ask?
Shion: (leaning closer) Oh, nothing. Just a little friendly interaction, you know?
(Yabusame nods, unaware of Shion's true intentions. Meanwhile, Lumen appears restless and agitated, attracting attention from their friends.)
Clause: (concerned) Lumen, what's wrong? You seem different today.
Lumen: (frustrated) I don't know! I consumed some moonlight last night by accident, and now I can't control my powers! Everything is so chaotic!
Haru: (calmingly) Don't worry, Lumen. We'll figure it out. Maybe there's a way to reverse the effects.
(Lumen's erratic behavior continues, causing small bursts of light and energy around them. The surrounding students cast worried glances.)
(Scene shifts back to Shion and Yabusame's conversation, interrupted by Shion's mischievous actions.)
Shion: (whispering) Watch this, Yabusame. I'm going to give Tsubakura a little scare.
(Yabusame watches curiously as Shion begins to approach Tsubakura's table.)
Yabusame: (whispering) Be careful, Shion. You don't want to cause any trouble.
(As Shion reaches Tsubakura's table, an unexpected event unfolds. Tsubakura senses Shion's presence and swiftly dodges their advance.)
Tsubakura: (playfully) Nice try, Shion. You'll have to be quicker than that.
(Shion's plan foiled, they retreat with a mischievous grin, accepting the playful banter.)
(Scene returns to Lumen, whose outbursts are becoming more intense, drawing attention from the cafeteria staff.)
Cafeteria Staff: (concerned) Is everything alright over there? We're here to help if you need anything.
Haru: (urgently) Lumen, we need to get you somewhere safe and find a solution to this. Let's go!
(Lumen, accompanied by Haru, makes their way out of the cafeteria, leaving their friends behind.)
(Scene fades out, leaving a mix of anticipation, worry, and curiosity in the air.)
Chapter 4: A Heartfelt Note
(Scene: Classroom, second-to-last class of the semester. The students are seated, awaiting the start of the lesson. Tenkai, sitting at their desk, is immersed in writing a note.)
(Tenkai carefully writes a heartfelt message on a piece of paper, pouring their gratitude onto the page. The students around them notice the sincere expression on Tenkai's face.)
Aoji: (curiously) Tenkai, what are you writing there?
Tenkai: (smiling) Just a little note to express my gratitude, Aoji. I want to thank everyone for making this semester so memorable.
Kuroji: (intrigued) That's sweet of you, Tenkai. It's been a great semester indeed.
(Tenkai finishes writing the note, folds it neatly, and slips it into an envelope.)
Tenkai: (softly) I've had the opportunity to learn and grow alongside all of you. The experiences we've shared have been truly invaluable.
Hooaka: (grinning) Well, I can't wait to read what you wrote, Tenkai. You always have a way with words.
(Tenkai's gaze shifts towards the front of the classroom, where the teacher prepares to begin the lesson.)
Tenkai: (reflectively) This note is just a small gesture of appreciation for our teachers, the staff, and all of you, my fellow classmates. We've come a long way together.
(Meanwhile, other students catch glimpses of Tenkai's note and eagerly anticipate its contents.)
Haru: (excited) Tenkai's notes are always heartfelt and uplifting. I'm sure this one will be no different.
(Lumen, who had returned to the classroom with Haru after their earlier incident, watches Tenkai with curiosity.)
Lumen: (whispering) I wonder what Tenkai wrote. It must be something special.
(Tenkai places the envelope in their bag, ready to deliver it at the appropriate moment.)
Tenkai: (softly) I hope this small token of gratitude brings a smile to everyone's faces. It's a reminder of the wonderful times we've had together.
(The teacher begins the lesson, drawing the students' attention away from Tenkai's note. Yet, the warmth and anticipation linger in the air, spreading a sense of unity and appreciation.)
(Scene fades out, leaving Tenkai's note waiting to be unveiled and cherished by their fellow classmates and the school staff.)
Chapter 5: Farewell and Gratitude
(Scene: Classroom, last class of the semester. The students are filled with a bittersweet mix of emotions as they listen attentively to the teacher's final lesson.)
(Tenkai's heartfelt note remains safely tucked away in their bag, awaiting its destined recipients. Meanwhile, in the teacher's lounge, Mitori and Garaiya come across the note, their curiosity piqued.)
Mitori: (noticing the envelope) Oh, what do we have here?
Garaiya: (leaning closer) It appears to be a note from Tenkai. Let's see what it says.
(Mitori carefully opens the envelope and reads Tenkai's heartfelt message. A warm smile forms on her face.)
Mitori: (grateful) This is such a thoughtful gesture. Tenkai has always been considerate of others.
Garaiya: (nodding) Indeed. They truly have a way with words. I'm grateful to have them as a student.
(Meanwhile, back in the classroom, the teacher concludes the final lesson of the semester.)
Teacher: (smiling) That wraps up our classes for this semester. I'm proud of all the hard work you've put in, and I wish you a well-deserved break.
(The students share a mixture of relief and nostalgia as the reality sinks in that the semester has come to an end.)
Hooaka: (wistful) It feels strange to think we won't be coming to class together every day for a while.
Tenkai: (softly) Change can be bittersweet, but it also opens up new opportunities and experiences.
(After the class concludes, the students bid their farewells, exchanging hugs, handshakes, and promises to stay in touch. Meanwhile, some students head off to various after-school activities and clubs.)
Haru: (excited) I can't wait to dive into my club activities during the break. It's going to be so much fun!
Lumen: (smiling) I hope you have a great time, Haru. Enjoy every moment of it.
(As the remaining students leave the classroom, Tenkai spots Mitori and Garaiya waiting outside.)
Tenkai: (approaching Mitori and Garaiya) Oh, you found the note. I'm glad it reached you.
Mitori: (grateful) Thank you, Tenkai. Your words touched our hearts. It means a lot to know that our efforts as teachers are appreciated.
Garaiya: (nodding) Your gesture reminds us why we do what we do. We're grateful to have you as our student.
(Tenkai smiles humbly, feeling a sense of fulfillment and connection.)
Tenkai: (sincerely) Thank you both for your guidance and support throughout the semester. It's been a truly enriching experience.
Mitori: (kindly) The pleasure is ours, Tenkai. We look forward to seeing you continue to grow and succeed in the future.
(The students bid their final farewells, with Tenkai feeling a sense of gratitude and accomplishment as they leave the school premises.)
(Scene fades out, leaving the lingering echoes of heartfelt farewells and the anticipation of what lies ahead for the students.)
Chapter 6: Farewell and New Beginnings
(Scene: Mugenri High, late afternoon. The clock strikes 6:00 PM, signaling the end of the day. The students gather in the courtyard, exchanging heartfelt goodbyes and well wishes.)
(Sumireko, though not a regular student, joins the gathering to bid her own farewells.)
Sumireko: (smiling) I'll miss all of you. It's been an incredible experience being part of this school. Take care, everyone!
(The students express their gratitude and wave goodbye as Sumireko makes her way through the crowd. Meanwhile, inside the teachers' lounge, the staff members gather to discuss their remaining tasks.)
Mitori: (looking at the clock) It's time to wrap things up for the day. We have some paperwork to finish before we can call it a night.
Garaiya: (nodding) Right. Let's make sure everything is in order so we can start fresh when the new semester begins.
(While the teachers delve into their remaining tasks, Para, the energetic and efficient secretary, buzzes around the office, completing their duties with enthusiasm.)
Para: (typing furiously) Just a few more tasks to complete, and we'll be ready to close up for the day. We've got this!
(The staff members exchange appreciative glances, impressed by Para's dedication and efficiency.)
Mitori: (smiling) Thank you, Para. Your hard work and positive energy always brighten up the office.
Garaiya: (chuckling) You're like the heartbeat of this school, keeping everything running smoothly.
Para: (grinning) It's all part of the job! I'm happy to contribute to the well-being of Mugenri High.
(As the evening progresses, the staff diligently finishes their remaining paperwork, ensuring that everything is organized and ready for the next semester. Finally, the time comes to close the school for the day.)
Mitori: (satisfied) Well done, everyone. We've accomplished a lot this semester. Let's enjoy our well-deserved break.
Garaiya: (stretching) Agreed. It's time to recharge and come back refreshed and ready for new challenges.
Para: (excited) I can't wait for the next semester! I have so many ideas to make it even better.
(With their tasks completed, the staff members gather their belongings and prepare to leave the school premises.)
Mitori: (reflecting) It's been a wonderful semester filled with growth, laughter, and learning. I'm grateful to be part of this community.
Garaiya: (smiling) Mugenri High truly is a special place. I'm honored to be surrounded by such talented students and dedicated colleagues.
(The staff members exchange warm smiles before bidding each other farewell. The school falls silent as everyone heads home, ready to embrace the upcoming break and the anticipation of new beginnings.)
(Scene fades out, leaving the school in a peaceful stillness, knowing that it will soon come alive once again with the energy and enthusiasm of its students and staff.)
To be continued...

Saragimaru snorted at that. The only collar they wore was the fur collar attached to their capelet, but both of them knew exactly what they meant by that.
"Them?" They gesture vaguely in the direction Kuroji stormed off in, "Do not confuse their grip for that of a leash. I'd strangle them with it the moment they think they're holding one."
Ye certainly act like they got you on one, Tsugumi wanted to sneer, but if anyone knew better than to push a powerful person's buttons, it was them by now.
Especially when they got them tied up and prepared for some "interrogation" that purple bastard is no doubt gleefully planning. Nothing Tsugumi hadn't stared down before.
Oh, Saragimaru is certainly the stronger youkai here. The aura of their magic washing over them, threatening to sweep them away even when idle, was enough of an indicator. But staring down the former dictator of Mugenri in combat and walking away with their life does tend to leave them... spoiled for choice, when it came to being intimidated.
Holding their tongue seemed to be the wise move, as, entranced by the sound of their own voice, Saragimaru spoke anew, "As we speak, I plan my inevitable vengeance in earnest. It will be slow. Cruel. Designed to break every last thread of sanity they weave as a shield. For now, I simply wait."
Tsugumi rolled their eyes, "Yeah, and so is all of Mugenri. The only thing that makes ya special is that Kuroji has ya on a tighter leash for some damn reason."
Probably not the wisest thing to say, as Saragimaru scowled, their hand raising to go for another slap. It was the collar and leash metaphor, wasn't it?
Smack!
That's gonna be sore for a couple hours. They didn't use their claws to draw blood though, so small mercy. It was clearly a warning though. Tsugumi has outwitted dozens of youkai as strong as them throughout their lifetime, but right now the odds are completely in the snake's favor.
"Mind your tongue. Haven't I already established what I'd do with that leash?" Definitely the collar and leash metaphor then.
"Mah bad. I just have a hard time believin' that, knowing what that villain 's like," they suppress a smirk, "Would honestly be better if we weren't at each other's throats. They won't suspect a thing if ye were to help me---"
"Have you forgotten what happened last time we met?" Saragimaru interjected, an eyebrow raised, "I do not appreciate being thrown back into their grubby hands after letting my guard down."
Oh shit. They haven't forgotten about that, have they?
It suddenly occurs to them, possibly, why this orochi that could easily reduce the bastard to paste might put up with their poor treatment going by the cruel and petty gleam suddenly in their eye.
"It's just one of you, but I suppose that'll do for now. I'm gonna enjoy watching you squirm after you three went and pulled that stunt. Be glad my days of slaughtering villages for mere slights are long behind me, you human-blooded traitor."
And this is ya bein' merciful? They didn't say that though. Not with the urge to berate themself for such foolish hopes. And the worst part was, they couldn't even blame them for it. They've done similar things to people that crossed them, once, too.
Still, the small smile that slipped onto Saragimaru's face at that...They shudder a little.
Those two idiots pretending to be starting an empire better save their ass soon.
And for the next several hours in the meantime, Tsugumi wished that Saragimaru actually had a collar around their neck, as opposed to merely being Kuroji's favorite partner in crime.
Prompt #2729
“You hold your head up rather high for someone with a collar around your throat.”
