With each day that followed Ida and Arthur returning to their real home, Ida questioned if she really did the right thing.

They arrived at the old, near ghostly town with little more than the clothes on their backs. The house was just as ramshackle as it had been when they left, the crops just as dead. Even worse, what few fellow townspeople remained after the dead con artist's rousing speech had little sympathy for cannibalistic traitors.

Ida had a starving son, crap soil, and no help.

Her only hope was what she saw on the journey home.

Life will find a way.

Ida was staring at her dwindling supply of cans when a familiar tug on her sleeve derailed her train of thought – still weak, yet stronger than it had been in months.

“Yes, honey?” Ida sighed. Her eyes went wide as she looked at her son. Her smiling son.

He practically dragged Ida to the back yard, moving surprisingly quick for someone who was barely more than skin and bones.

His excitement made perfect sense once Ida looked over what had once been their garden.

New sprouts had not only poked out of the dirt they grabbed from the forest, but thrived. Many had full leaves, others had stocks quickly filling out. Ida's jaw almost dropped at the sight.

It really dropped when a quiet, raspy, sorely missed voice whispered beside her.

“They're growing,” Arthur said.

The Al Ghul Children. Are so freaking TRAGIC and I can never get over them

So you have the baby generation which is Mara and Damian and Athantasia; then the original generation, which is Dusan, Nyssa, and Talia.

Attie straight up doesn't exist in most media but in the game(?) where she does she's Damian baby sister who was kept a secret until he couldn't go back to being with the bats. I think about her all the time. What did she know about Damian growing up? Did she ever want to meet him? How many times did she sit in the middle of the night and wish for her brother to do something unforgivable so he could come back? Or was she glad he was gone? The league canonically pits their kids against each other, did she grow up resenting him? Or, even if she liked the idea of him, did she resent him anyway for being the child who went to Bruce? Did she take up Damian's place in the duels with Mara?

Athantasia isn't used nearly enough for her potential she is blorbo-shaped.

And then Damian! Itty bitty baby boy with a sword and issues. I think so much about how he's naturally soft but he can't be because of circumstance. How many quiet moments were lost to blood, how long did it take for him to learn what a genuine human connection felt like? What if he never did? I've been around humans I love since I was born, and I still sometimes feel absolutely disconnected from them. How much superiority is covering for insecurity? We've seen him make friends, Maps, Colin, Jon, as the three I actually care about, and he likes them. Did he make friends in the league? What happened to them? Or did he just, for lack of a better word, imprint, on other assassins?

In a complete other fandom I'm propagating biting as a love language and Damian has that vibe too.

Were she and Damian ever close, or as close as they could get? Did they plan how to lead the league when they weren't trying to take each others' eyes out, did she ever meet Attie, did she take her anger on Damian out on Attie, is the red streak something she does to hide a lazarus streak or is it natural from her dad? Can she see out of her other eye? Where did she see herself in the league before Damian deserted? Is she close to her teammates in the fist or are they just the prettiest canon fodder Ra's could send?

Is there a part of her that is as relieved to be hunting Damian down as it is angry, because at least fighting him is familiar?

The older three also make me Feel Things but not as much as the kiddos.

Nyssa apparently survived the holocaust? And then Ra's murdered her kids and then repeatedly killed her and dropped her into the pits for... something? I don't remember if I ever learned why that happened, but it did and it's so horrid? Drove her to insanity, surprise surprise. I recommend Misericordia and it's sequel on ao3 if you want to cry over Steph, Damian, Talia, and Nyssa. And then the Nyssa Al Ghul & Tim Drake Tag, if you're feeling adventurous. I don't even know the NAMES of Nyssa's kids and that makes me incredibly sad.

Would they have gotten along with the other three? Would they have taken them and ran? Or would they train them, keeping their bloodline strong, and just quietly know that these are their cousins and they're so proud?

And Talia gets rewritten every other writer but there are so many options when characterizing her and they're so much fun. But also everyone else deals with her so jumping to the next one. I think Talia is also the youngest? Don't quote me on that

Anyway last al ghul I think too much about is Dusan. I can't remember if he's the oldest or the middle child but despite being Ra's' male heir he straight up got sent away because he has albinism? And then he fought his way back into his father's ranks under an alias? He went so far for approval and he's still overlooked, and his kid is considered second rate, even though he's personally considered to be terrifying?

How long did it take him to come back? Why didn't he stay away? Does he ever regret it, now that he's back in the league?

i just. There are lots. and lots. of thoughts about them. And I'm sure there are more al ghuls hiding somewhere for me to lose my everloving mind over but I haven't met them yet

dinner was so fucking boring, you wanted to scream.

it wasn't very often that your dad, step mom, step brother and you were all home - or even tolerant enough - to gather around the dining room table and make small talk over a meal for an hour, but tonight was one of those rare occurrences.

after the hot tub a few nights ago, you and eddie had been so busy that you hadn't been able to see each other at all.

plus, he’d had his friends over all day today though and he had smirked when he'd told you they were going to use the hot tub. 

and it was excruciating enough to see him walking around, shirtless and smiling with all of his friends, but to see the knowing smirk and the glint in his eye as he mentioned the hot tub was downright torture.

his hair is more wavy than usual today - and he's wearing a soft orange shirt and he's tan from being in the sun all day. you watch his adam's apple bobs when he swallows and his eyelashes flutter when he blinks. 

you sigh as you watch him, wondering how your step brother could look so innocent and yet... be so not.

as the background noise of your step mother resonates through the dining room, you decide to have a little fun. slowly, you test the waters by watching your everyone's faces as you slip your hand under the table, letting it rest on the bench in the space between you and eddie. 

nobody bats an eye, and you thank god your psychotic step mother decided to buy those ugly wooden benches for the sides of the dining table because eddie is sitting very close to you.

you keep the growing smirk off your face as you slowly slip your hand onto eddie's thigh rubbing as discreetly as possible. out of your peripherals you see eddie look down at your hand and slowly turn his head to stare daggers into the side of your face as your hand slowly makes its way up.

"what are you fucking doing?" eddie hisses quietly under his breath, shooting you an incredulous stare. you smile at him innocently, slowly rubbing his thigh under the table. he's bright red but he stares ahead as sonia addresses him, telling him about a prescription that he has to pick up in the morning.

instead, he's slowly moving your hand against him as he nods along to the conversation. holy shit.

you think you might combust, especially when your dad asks you a question and you jump, pulling your hand up to rest on the table out of fear of being caught. you hear eddie chuckling quietly next to you and you kick him in the shin as you ask your father to repeat himself.

you kept your hands to yourself for the rest of dinner and your dad retired to his study, sonia going to their bedroom. you were finishing up doing the dishes, bent over to put away a mixing bowl in a bottom cabinet when you hear eddie walk into the kitchen. he doesn't say anything, so you turn your head to look up at him. his eyes snap quickly up to yours and his lips twitch as if he's half cocky and half embarrassed.

"like what you see?" you ask, wiggling your hips, still on your hands and knees. eddie scowls at you, though his lips display a small smile.  his hair slightly disheveled as he runs a hand through it and stalks towards you, causing you to stand up.

his hands fall on your waist and hold you in place as he gives you a narrow look, leaning his head back. you fake pout again and he narrows his eyes even more as his eyes rake over your body. "we shouldn't." he mumbles, eyes on your lips. you nod, biting your lip. "you're right." you say, looking at him. you want to, though. really bad. "but you started it earlier." you mumble, smirking lightly.

he scoffs, his lips almost pressed fully against yours. "i don't know what you're talking about. you're dangerous. its a bad idea." he mutters, his lips moving against you as he speaks. you laugh slightly, loving how close the two of you are in this moment. "we-we need to go upstairs or something." eddie whispers as he pulls away and you nod, grinning as you pull him by the hand towards the stairs. you look back quickly to see him shaking his head but following you eagerly.

your lips were back on his as soon as your door shut, making his groan slightly at the force of your body on his. he stumbles and the two of you land on your bed, making you chuckle. his hand slides down your back as he sits up, your knees straddling him. "shut up." he says, kissing you again to mask his red cheeks.

his hands find your hips and he experimentally drag your hips slightly against his, causing you and him to let out quiet moans. Some Star Wars thoughts, in no particular order

Preface: I really liked this movie. Spoilers below, obviously, but not many more than what was already leaked. I try to keep stuff vague, so if you like... know a couple of big things that are being talked about (way too much for some reason honestly oh my god) and are trying to decide if you want to see the movie, this should be safe!

Okay first, to get it out of the way... some complaints

Finn should have had more screen time, as usual. I do like was done with him in general, but there should have been more of it, and his biggest hero moment unfortunately felt a little underwhelming. I’m also pretty uncomfortable/disappointed with how he seemed to be portrayed as having like this one-sided thing for Rey that was even framed comedically at times. That being said they end the second to last scene and strongest emotional beat on him and it was very good (and tbh the scene that followed felt more like a stinger to me, as far as I’m concerned the movie closes on Finn finding a family, and a happy ending, and I love that)

The whole thing was jammed with at least a movie and a half’s worth of plot. *looks at tlj* no idea how that could have happened. I think it does a good job with what it has to work with, and tight writing + good set up and payoff make it work most of the time, but... room to process their feelings, characters have not.

The kiss was stupid. It also, imo, was entirely fanservice and if you removed like two shots and replaced them with something platonic GIVE US THE FOREHEAD TOUCH TAKE I KNOW IT EXISTS then I think that Rey and Kylo’s interactions were very well done. It’s not romantic unless you are already looking for it to be romantic. Except for the kiss. Which was stupid and sudden and out of place.

Okay anyway I am gonna gush now

So first of all I just think the plot and pacing of this movie was really well executed. It wasn’t the most exciting or daring of plots, but also it didn’t need to be. The rule of three set up and payoff was outstanding though, and that’s really what carries it. A lot of the time it’s easy to see that payoff coming, or at least see that it is coming, but it mostly feels like being a bit spoiled for a really good story - even if you have a good idea where it’s going you can still really enjoy the journey. And you probably don’t know exactly where it’s going, anyways.

my favorite example of this is something they set up really early about Rey and Kylo’s force bond, and a thing it can do. 

This first time it happens is a super fast “woah holy shit that can happen???” moment.

The second time its a “oh. oh no. it can happen and has happened in the worst possible way”

and the last time is “OH! OH!!! ITS GONNA HAPPEN ITS HAPPENING OH MY GOD.”

The THEMES. Holy shit the themes. This movie 100% sold me on Kylo redemption, as someone who was VERY uh... lets say I was very unimpressed by the idea of it going into things. And I’ll talk more about why I think “redemption” isn’t even exactly the right word, but for now yeah I’ll just say I really liked what they did with Kylo.

BUT ANYWAY THEMES. OKAY. I think it is so so vital and good to have a story so devoted to Doing The Right Thing. But not just doing the right thing. I think the absolute heart of the movie is just... no matter what you’ve done, no matter the mistakes you’ve made, choosing to do the right thing matters. It always matters.

Like okay I really think there’s a shift in how this movie deals with ye olde dark side compared to the first two, bc it’s very personal, and feels very grounded in trauma and fear and a phrase Liz said last night that I loved which is, “the seductive pull of despair.”

If I had to write is as a thesis statement I’d absolutely use that phrase, it would be something like...

“There is never a moment in which it is too late -- generationally, individually, or globally -- to resist the seductive pull of despair.”

But also like the other thesis is just “every good thing you do matters.” Which is probably one of my favorite power fantasies in the whole world.

Like there’s a group of people established at the midpoint of the film, who are just like, People Who Did The Right Thing. And they have been living ever since then taking care of each other, trying to unlearn the way they were raised, trying to resist despair in their own corner of the galaxy.

And like, in some ways it would be cool to just have them there! A nice story, a nice group of people, a nice expansion in the world of Star Wars. But that’s NOT where it leaves them, and very specifically there’s a moment in the final big confrontation where the big nasty man is like “do a thing! stop them!” and it doesn’t work specifically bc of an aspect of these people and the life they’ve built makes it not work. It’s funny and satisfying and a wonderful emotional payoff all at once.

And basically this is why the Kylo stuff works for me. Because it’s really not about him, it’s about Rey and Leia. It’s about Rey and Leia choosing to do good, and how that matters. If Kylo had stayed a shitty evil brat until the end, then their stories wouldn’t have been as powerful.

Okay but to touch a bit more on redemption, I really don’t think he’s redeemed. Or like, he’s not redeemed because it’s not about balancing anything out, or him going down in history as a Good Man, or other characters forgiving him. It’s about him spending the whole movie saying “you can’t go back Rey, once you do something bad you are bad and you can’t go back home.”

And they Rey does something bad

She does something bad and IMMEDIATELY LOSES HER CHANCE TO MAKE IT BETTER WITH THE PERSON MOST HURT BY HER ACTION

And then she does something good anyway

Because you can always do something good, and you can always go back. Even if you hurt someone you love. Even if you become, for a moment, what you are most afraid of. Even if you can’t unmake your mistakes. You can still do good. You can still make the world better.

And that is why he chooses to change. And that is a good reason to change. To see someone demonstrate that there is always room for kindness? To see that and find a hope you had lost years ago? That’s good shit! That’s what Star Wars is about babey!

Also the banter was back and good and the Trio Content oh my god. Thank you. Finally.

New droid is baby and I love them.

The new lady characters are obviously underdeveloped but I DO love them. There’s a moment at the end of the movie that makes me really hope that one of them gets a spin-off/sequel, and there is ample room for a standalone Poe prequel featuring the other one. I think they have pretty strong characterizations for the space they get.

also one of them gets an extremely good moment with Rey that killed me. Like don’t get ur hopes up for any actual content or conversation but it was one of those “oh I REALLY hope there’s fanfic” moments and I loved it.

I love Rey [redacted] and I will have to write a whole other post about her maybe.

I thought Poe’s arc was cool! It wasn’t what I was expecting but I thought it was interesting and I’m always down for some “ur friends are here for you, you don’t have to and also literally can’t do everything on ur own.

That’s another theme of the film btw and its good

Most of the action scenes were just kinda “eh okay this is a Star Wars movie I guess they gotta do that now. Like fun and flashy but overall without much substance.

BUT I really liked the second lightsaber fight with Rey and Kylo. Good way to mix it up.

I really liked how this movie handled the Sith and the lore/perspective it added honestly makes a lot of Sith stuff in general make more sense to me. It’s one of those cool bits of lore that isn’t exactly a retcon but it is retroactive context that shows everything in different light. Or like maybe that’s always been the context but I think it’s more clear and upfront about it. 

I cried at one part bc there were lots of different ship designs all on screen at the same time and it was like.... wow... star war.... star war good.

For Liam his goal is pretty simple. Ever since he laid eyes on Zayn, who looks like sin in human form with eyes that threaten to rip a man's heart out, he knew he had to have the boy. He needs him more than he's wanted anything in his entire life. Otherwise his red hot desire for the boy might just take him to his death.

The author also has drabbles that are super cute and fluffy so when the fic gets real angsty (which it does, bud), you can just read the drabbles to ease heartache, ya feel?

ANGST IS MY FAVORITE GENRE, they’re the ones that rlly stick in my mind, and the writers who write them r brilliant. i’ve recently found one or two angsty hq!! fics on ao3 that rlly blew my mind and i just slurped that shit up. i love it when writers make me feel things, y’know?? even more brilliant when they’re able to write tear jerking angst when it’s only a one shot. like, how??

there’s no sequel to that, but SAME. i’m one to easily get emotional so whenever i read smth, i’m either *squeals* or *ugly sobs* KEK i’m glad u like the recs though!!

Review: God DAMN 10/10, I read this fic back in 2013 and was utterly destroyed. I cannot believe. Review: Obviously sequels aren’t alaways the best and I usually don’t read fic sequels but this one just won’t give up on that fucking angst and I lived for it, I’ve only read this one twice but damn that fuccking milk kid stuck with me, another 10/10.

Review: !!!@@##!#!@$@%%$^ I have no words. This fic is a master piece like I have never actually cried so hard from reading a fic. This one touches on so many subjects that really just pull at your heart strings beautifully. I usually don’t read daddies!klaine, but Elizabeth and Blaine had me in tears every time they’d interact. The author also gives warning for everything at the beginning of each chapter.

I'm looking to get into Persona but I prefer to start as early in a game series as possible and was wondering if you've played any other than 5? Do you know if it's worth it to play every game in the Persona series or skip certain ones?

I started at Persona 3. It’s def my fav still, even though I love the Persona series hardcore best series 11/10 fog horn noises here. I’ve never played the first or second ones (either of the second ones)

Unfortunately, unless you have a PSP you can’t play the first one. Persona 2 is apparently a great story, but the sequel to 2 is only on PSP or Vita.

P3P [PSP/Vita] If you have a Vita or PSP I’d actually recommend this one more cause you can also play as a female protag which is awesome. Unless you aren’t into that. It does open up more story for the male characters tho which is SO GREAT UGH. FEELS. I’M OVER COME WITH FEELS NOW. SOB.

This one doesn’t have the added Fes character story line in it tho. so take ur pick depending on your systems.

Persona 4 [PS3 Digital] Soooooo gooooood. I love P4 as well. So good. AGAIN, not a complete version because Atlas is fucking weird like holy shit.

Persona 4 Golden [Vita] THIS is the complete version of Persona 4. I mean, complete in the sense it adds more to the story and a buncha other junk. I actually didn’t finish my play through on Golden cause…I think I started playing FFXV at the time LOL….so I’m not entirely sure about all the changes, but I know they added more story and jazz so…again: take ur pick depending on your systems. Would def recommend. (I mean I recommend them all but whatever)

Persona 5 [PS3/PS4] Uh yeah totally get this it will blow ur mind I am loving every second of it.

So basically what it boils down to: totes play 3, 4 and 5. The internet recommends 2 highly so I might get it eventually, but def 3, 4, and 5. Whatever version depends on your systems, wallet, and time. I highly recommend this series because I’m horribly biased and it’s my favorite JRPG series of all time (Tales being second fav).

HOLY SHIT I ALMOST FORGOT:

Persona Q [DS]: Don’t play unless you’ve played 3 and 4. I’ve got it…and then I…didn’t finish it…yet…. cause the dungeons were getting kinda ass kicking and I gave up like a loser I SWEAR I’LL FINISH IT, but it isn’t pivotal to play. It’s mostly cute cause you get to see P3 and P4 interacting and that’s hella fuckin cute. Also I can have all my fav baes on one team which is sick.
