There something I've been seriously wondering about when it comes to Yuu and the world of twisted wonderland. (This probably hasn't been mentioned in game and is just something I've thought about a lot)
Considering the fact that Yuu is from a different world I've been wondering about how their immune system would certainly be different to that of people who originally reside in twisted wonderland, so I've been thinking that surely due to that Yuu would have the tendency to get more often sick due to them not being used to the viruses twisted wonderland has (unless they have super good immunity), this would make not only Yuu have no magic, but also have the downside of getting a sick a lot more.
(also sorry if I misspell anything English ain't my first language)
Just a yap session cause I had this in my mind for ages and I wanted to talk about it for once.
Tumblr media
That's true, it's not really something covered or addressed in most isekai stories (unless the story itself revolves around health)--and for a good reason, I think. I doubt the creators want the audience to constantly worry about the physical wellbeing of their (usually) self-insert protagonist who gets to live a fantastical new life in a world with magic and hot cat girls or whatever. It would fight for the attention of the wish fulfillment or major conflict at hand. Having the POV character be sick all of the time also makes it more difficult to actually write interesting, dynamic scenarios since they'd be bedridden or preoccupied with recovering. This is a matter of practicality.
I'm sure there are Yuusonas out there with poor immune systems (or even preexisting conditions) that play with this idea? Like maybe they're a frequent visitor of the school infirmary or they need to have regular check-ins with the nurse. This could also be an avenue to see how they react to magic-based medical treatment or potions, which don't appear to be a cure-all, despite the miracles that magic can achieve. We have a lot of diversity in the Twst fandom's OCs, and that allows all these different aspects to be explored.

thinking about the mentality of pro shipping is like... weird.
tw thoughts about pro shipping below:
no not in a sense that they're necessarily bad people or have anything to do with the content they make. hell I draw genocidal maniacs kissing but I don't condone homoerotic murder irl...
it's more in the lines of... apathy.
like for some people fiction us just silly lil stories that they don't really care much about other than aesthetic. or just a thinly masked dynamic that ignores age or familial relationships... it's like... apathetic. idk how to explain it but it's treating fiction as mere stories... there's nothing wrong with that idea I just personally don't vibe with it because I'm a codependent lil freak with my blorbos and treat them as... kinda real?
for some they connect to the story on a deeper level and would feel repulsed by thinking about pro shipping... for others it's just a pairing with interesting character dynamics that if you put aside the problematic relationship... would actually be kinda neat?
it's like if crimson was dust's sibling in canon but I ignored it cuz the ship dynamic is too cool to passup right?
(hypothetically. don't come at me bro I'm just trying to analyze this mentality)
like it's important to remember that people are still multifaceted and they're still human beings behind the screen.
I'm not as disgusted by pro shipping as I'm disgusted by a holier than thou attitude.
like I'm still gonna avoid pro shipping because I'm personally one of those people who immerses themself in fiction on a further level. I CARE. it irks me because of the level I care about details..
so like... yeah I think that's where the disconnect happens.
because people shrugging something important to you as fiction leaves a bitter taste in your mouth.
I question if it's because they're afraid to make original characters so they use preexisting chatacters as a shield but also cannot let go of that particular unique shipping dynamic that's thematically interesting.
like c'mon. it's okay to make ocs man. you don't have to bend over backwards to obey canon.
I think everyone deserves to create what they want. doesn't mean I don't think they're immune to criticism or backlash. you reap what you sew. if you put something out in the world? you ought to be held accountable and stand your ground.
which like... some pro shippers do. and I respect that. I will unfollow and block them but like. yeah. respect. I get it.
if you think it's worth it? do it go for it! I'm happy you're expressing your free speech! I'll just be out of your hair respectfully.
the problem is people who actively just ship theproship FOR the uhm... yk. problematic stuff.
those people I genuinely can't analyzeot get into their mentality. it's why I can't say anything about them.
again. fiction and story telling doesn't actually mean you condone what you make... but it does kinda reflect how you feel?
I'm not sure.

the emphasis on shipping in fandom culture is so wild to me to consider because like. there are certain things in jatp that I ship very emphatically, but I literally wrote myself into shipping them. when I was writing my first fics in the fandom, I didn’t plan for julie/luke/reggie or flarrie. I expected willex, because the show gave us that and gave me plenty of vibes to go “ok they like each other and would work together in the long term”. but especially with noncanon ships I always find myself stumbling into them as I plan or write a fic. I do sometimes set out to write a romance, but that’s usually when I’ve been in a fandom for a while and know “ok I like these dynamics and have had thoughts about shipping them in previous works, let’s dig into that.” and then I’m always writing like it’s a persuasive essay! like there are people reading who aren’t convinced about the ship, and I have to show my work.
even working with ocs it’s like, “ok I made this guy to be a friend for this character, but also I think that this particular dynamic would probably lead to romance and/or sex” (this thought brought to you by me knowing I haven’t touched my Jesse Lives au in forever) - actually I would say with ocs it’s most important because holy hell nobody is going to be automatically invested in your oc’s romantic or sexual life but you. you have to do a lot of legwork on that one unless your only intent is more of a reader insert vibe where ppl can imagine intimacy with their favourite character, which means they don’t care about your oc so much as they care about being able to project anyway. they already know why they’d be into this canon character. you don’t need to do anything there (which to be clear you do you, that just holds very little appeal for me for various reasons. live your dreams my friends)
and it’s just weird to me that people will write things where. it’s characters who don’t interact much. and then they don’t put any effort into making the reader ship it? they jump straight to “both characters are yearning and have been since they met” because they ship it, and they don’t require buildup, and I’m like “but how did you get here. why does it matter that they’re doing these things for each other.” and a lot of it tends to be a lack of deep characterisation, so it could be any two guys being gay (or. any ship. i’m maybe thinking about Certain Popular Gay Ships in fandom but also calling out baby me’s destiel obsession specifically. it’s fine no judgment but also fandom has a white gay man problem and that is a different post entirely) - and a lot of it also seems to be like. allosexual people (I assume from uhhh sexytime context clues) and definitely alloromantic people thinking that attraction alone is the legwork. like there’s nothing else to prove about a relationship. they like each other, boom, romance.
when you’re writing a romance, you don’t just have to have the characters woo each other (which. as a reader of both fic romance and original, published romances, let me tell you a lot of writers don’t even do that) - you have to make the ship woo the readers. draw us in. prove to us in word and action that these two care, make each other better (or worse, I write some toxic codependent shit too), that there is some reason to want them together and not settle for whatever preexisting dynamic they have. why does it matter that these people are in love? why are these obstacles worth overcoming? what does it add to a non-romance story to have this ship in it?
I would like romances that romance me, damn it

Semi-selective indie horror rp sideblog. Main (personal) is @kal10. New to the rp scene so forgive me if my formatting is basic or I'm not familiar with the usual conventions--if you have questions, please feel free to ask. I may be a newbie on here, but I'm very interested in started something up! I may reblog/interact with a post of yours as a non-intrusive way to draw your attention here, or I may message directly, depending on the vibes I get from your blog, but I'm also very open to other people messaging/interacting first.
RP details:
My primary goal is to start up a horror-inspired rp where I can develop interesting OCs and I get to see other people explore and characterize their own OCs. I enjoy character building and capturing interesting dynamics and plot beats, and I want to learn about your characters as much as I want to develop my own! I may adapt an existing muse or create a new one based on the dynamic and themes upon which potential partners and I agree. An ideal setting for me would be intimate indie or folk horror with supernatural powers and unseen things lurking just under the surface. I gravitate toward muses with psychic abilities and unresolved trauma, and am happy to negotiate themes and the strength of any powers based on what fits best with a story.
I can update a list as I develop more characters, but the following a sample of a preexisting OC I could use (psychic detective: not my most original work, but I grew up wishing that the stories I loved were simply more bisexual, so Leo has been in my head for a long time. I also think he would play well against a variety of other characters and adapt to pre-established lore if you're looking for someone who will fit into a specific story!):
Leo Hayes
31, bisexual, white, cis man
Profession - small-time private investigator (neo-noir in aesthetics, more likely to photograph a cheating spouse than consult on a murder, but open to whatever pays.)
Abilities: clairvoyance, limited pre- and post-cognition, limited clairsentience. Brought on by head trauma which left him with intermittent aphasia (forgetting words, especially names/nouns). He can see things others can't, but he often has difficulty explaining his visions.
Themes - childhood trauma, parental abuse, internalized biphobia, isolation, fear of intimacy, longing for connection with someone who has the patience to wait for him to articulate himself. Potential themes of substance abuse/addiction, depending on the story.
Personal details about mun:
Sim (it/its). I'm 29 and request that minors don't interact with this blog. Expect to see the mature themes and potentially triggering content you might find in horror media.
I have some experience roleplaying on Tumblr and one-on-one through discord. I work full time and I'm a student, so my activity won't always be consistent.
I prefer to write in paragraph style and lean more lit than short form or visual. (At the moment I haven't gotten into creating graphics and I haven't made a card or other third-party bio page. I'm considering giving bio cards a try, but straight-up text rp is more my forte.)
I'm not looking for strong NSFW/romantic roleplay, BUT, I'm willing to talk out incorporating romance/romantic tension into a dynamic if it seems right for the rp. (NSFW doesn't bother me, I'm just married)
Very invested open communication between both parties. Expectations/boundaries/etc. I'm here to have fun with this & I don't want it to be stressful/overwhelming for me or anyone who rps with me.
My dms and asks are open, so hmu even if you'd just like to workshop something without a big commitment!

Tips for Adding an OC to a Fanwork
I hate to be presumptuous, but I’m asked variations of, “Hidden, how do I effectively add an OC (original character) to a canon cast?” fairly often.  And I can see why!  Adding characters to a canon cast is an uphill climb!  For whatever it’s worth, I’ve written up my thoughts beneath the cut, and I truly hope they’re helpful.
First, I’ll briefly touch on why OCs and OC-centric stories are comparatively unpopular.
The biggest reason is simply because most people read fanfics so they can spend more time with their favorite existing characters.  A lot of folks would rather read an entirely original work than a blend of canon and original, and that’s a-okay!  It’s just a personal preference, like how some people prefer fluff and some prefer angst.
But OC-centric stories often have to contend with preexisting disdain for things like self inserts, mary sues, wish fulfillment, etc.  I’m not going to touch on how to avoid writing a self insert or mary sue, because you should be able to, if you want to!  Fanfiction is meant to be a safe place to play, explore, and create.  You do you, and don’t worry about critics!  You’re protected by your internet anonymity, and most platforms allow you to turn off anonymous reviews, which should spare you the worst of negativity.
But if your goal is to seamlessly add an OC to a canon cast, here are my suggestions for your consideration!
Consider the dynamics of the canon cast while planning your OC.
In my opinion, one of the best reasons to add an OC to a canon cast is because the cast might benefit from an additional personality type.  That is, the existing cast should inspire and influence your OC.
I hesitate to offer my main OC, Eimi Anami, as a “model OC,” but she’s what I have to work with, so please roll with me.  I’m going to reference Growing Up with You, a Digimon Adventure fic, since it’s an “add OC to canon” story.
Despite their flaws, the Chosen kiddos are exceptionally good, trusting characters.  And while many of them have complicated home lives, their difficulties are mostly caused by lack of communication/miscommunication.  This leads the kiddos to be too trusting/forgiving/naive for their own good at times.  I wondered how the dynamic might change if a new character wasn’t as trusting.  Would she be able to voice her thoughts to a group of scared, desperate kids that might not want to hear the difficult possibilities she suggested?  Would she come off as hard-hearted/jaded?  If so, what impact would that have on her, and on the team?
You want your OC to add a new flavor to the mix, and to shake up/challenge the existing dynamic.
Consider the show’s themes and try to add something new through your character, or add another facet to an existing theme.
Digimon Adventure follows some kids facing adversity in a fantasy world, which helps them grow and deal with their existing problems in their own world.  (In reality, it would probably just make MORE trauma, but hey!  xD).
I mentioned above that most of the canon cast have some family difficulties, but ultimately, the Chosen all have loving families.  They must find the courage and strength to open up and communicate.  That’s a fantastic message, and Adventure is admirably mature and ambitious in its family themes.  But too many of us come from families where we can’t communicate our problems away- or even reach understandings through family therapy.  Readers follow Eimi through this general situation in GUWY.
In my opinion, media rarely allows us to watch a character come to terms with the fact that their abusive family will never be anything but abusive, mourn that loss, struggle with their trauma, and start their healing.  It seemed like an especially poignant message beside a bunch of kids working through a range of family difficulties in tandem.
Don’t give your OC an “in.”
In my opinion, your OC will receive the best reception if they aren’t automatically accepted in the existing group.  If your audience goes through the process of assimilating into the canon cast and earning their friendship with the OC, they are much more likely to accept the OC in turn.  It can feel jarring to open an OC fic with the OC already part of the group, since the readers don’t know them and are probably wondering where they came from, and how they befriended the cast.  Even the kindest canon cast needs time to genuinely grow close to someone.
Consider how your OC relates to the whole cast
It’s fine- and probably necessary, if the canon cast is large- to focus on your OC’s relationship with a few canon characters.  If you’re writing OC x canon character romance, that relationship will likely be the “main” focus.
But let’s say a bunch of friends go out, and the couple among them only talks to one another the whole time.  That would feel unnatural, right?  Make sure your OC is interacting with everyone in a way that feels natural.  And remember, your goal in adding an OC is to help the audience come to know and love them.  The best way to show an audience multiple sides of your character is to show them interacting with and growing close to (or further away from, lol!) a variety of people.  After all, different people draw out different aspects of our personalities.
And that’s all I’ve got right now!  I know that writing OC stories can be scary, since they aren’t popular.  But you can make some amazing stories by adding something new to something you love, and someone out there might benefit from what you have to share through your character’s eyes!  Take care, and have a blast writing!

So all my fallout OCS are preexisting ocs and they all kind of know each other. In their original stories Jared (my lone wanderer) grew up with and briefly dated Max (my courier Six) before he and his mom moved to Texas with his awful stepdad then later on Jared meets his current boyfriend Eden (who I've hinted at) and even later Bill (my sole survivor who I've not talked about yet here I don't think) Bill acts like a father figure to Eden mostly but a little to all of them and he's supposed to be decently older than them all. As ages go how I currently think about them Jared is 20 Max and Eden are both 22 and Bill is 36. One of the many reasons I used them as my characters to play (with the exception of Eden) is because their ages as I think of them match up nicely with the ages in game
All of this to say I'm trying to figure out how to get them all meeting each other and keep their dynamic. Max Jared and Eden all work out fine. Jared meets Eden in Megaton I'm still trying to figure out how they meet Max but that'll work out fine that's just specifics and how I want it to go Max leaves the Capital wasteland and heads out west with a caravan to follow in his dads footsteps and join the NCR as well as escape his home life and then becomes the courier. But then since 4 takes place 10 years after 3. Max can come back to visit that's not an issue. What is the part that's baffling me (and it's honestly not an issue but it does mess with their dynamic which again I'm trying to keep) is the fact that Bill while technically 246 years old has stayed 36 but the other three have aged and now he's not much older than them Jared would be 29 and Eden and Max would be 31. I could just say the events of 4 happen the same year as the events of 3 and ignore cannon but also I don't like doing that too much?
This has all been rattling around my head for like a week now if anyone has any suggestions 👀 I'm all ears
