Andylind + Portrait drawing aka Roz's hobby
His hands shook as they sifted through the papers on her desk, the creased pages sticking to his fingers as he shuffled through them. Documents, statements, proof. Anything that might indicate where she might’ve gone. Why she might’ve gone.
What’s that in your hands, General?
What did I tell you about prying?
He’d known something was coming for weeks now. Something big.
It was obvious in the way her militant, unyielding directives turned into loud, erratic outbursts. In the way she became almost neurotic about the battalion’s preparation for combat. In the way her fierce, confident appearance became slightly disheveled, as intense and shocking to him as an arrow to the chest, if not to everyone else.
When’re you going to tell me what you’re writing in there?
The day you decide you’d like to be a soldier who can obey commands and mind his own business.
He picked up another pile of correspondence, skimming through her bold yet decidedly feminine scrawl. He felt a swelling ache fill the space behind his ribs as his eyes traced the soft lines on the paper, a stark contrast to the sharp edges she carved into the world.
Nothing. Fucking nothing. He added the letters to the growing stack on the chair behind him.
Increasingly desperate for some kind of answer — for some explanation as to why he walked into her tent this morning and saw an empty bedroll stamped in footprints of dirt and blood — he turned back to the pile on the desk and continued rifling through more bloody documents. He heard his breaths become more labored, the beats of his heart make their way up to his throat as he neared the end.
As he came upon the last few pages something fell out, tumbling back onto the scuffed desk and opening face down. He stilled as he stared at the all-too-familiar brown leather.
The notebook.
Why do you keep staring at me like that?
Just wondering if I should demote you for that embarrassing display of combat skills yesterday.
C’mon, General. It was me against three Burned Ones.
Precisely.
Slowly extending his hand toward it, he glanced around. As if she’d somehow appear to reprimand him for his curiosity. As if she might waltz in and distract him with her hands and mouth like she had every other time the notebook had been within his reach.
Cursing his sentimentality as he stroked the soft cover, he picked it up, leather crackling as he flipped it over to see the page it had fallen open to.
Andreas’ breath caught as he stared at the unexpected sight before him. A mirror image of himself gazing sharply back at him, the corner of his brow quirked upwards, the scruff of his beard traced in grays and blacks, his mouth tilted up in a knowing smile that hid a secret. That hid their secret.
This, whatever it is, doesn’t leave this tent.
You embarrassed, General?
…I want to keep it for myself.
And his eyes. They held a little too much honesty, too much vulnerability. Too much love. And it made him question just how much of his heart was stitched onto his sleeve.
He flipped through, page after page sketched with some version of him — training, thinking, winking, smirking, sleeping — his paper twin, made of ink instead of flesh and bone.
Andreas took a steadying breath as he closed the notebook, allowing his lungs a moment to consume his surge of emotion once more before he brushed the spine of the book, tucked it into the pocket by his chest, and stormed out of the tent.
Strides purposeful, jaw set in determination, and eyes blazing with unspoken commands for the soldiers around him, he only thought one thing.
I’m coming for you.

You may have heard of Phantom Hands, but may I present you with Gantom Eyes.
James Gant as the Phantom of the Opera (w/ Holly-Anne Hull)
This actor has some of the most expressive eyes I've seen in a Phantom, and that's not just because of @lasagnatrades's beautiful filming, I saw him a few months ago and sat all the way in the back of the stalls and had me crying before the end of Act 1.

Kate and Anne Wolf 359 headcanons bc ofc I’m obsessed with these characters who never actually appear but haunt the narrative
The accident happened in ~late 2011, Anne was barely four. By the time the Hephaestus arrived back on earth she’s nine.
Goddard paid for Kate and Anne to move somewhere with better resources for both of them. I think Maryland bc it has one of the biggest deaf communities in the U.S.
Kate got a degree in nursing after helping Anne recover
Kate started taking ASL classes to better communicate with Anne, and she meets a single father of a deaf son there, who she falls for and eventually marries
Kate always made sure to be honest with Anne about what happened. That her dad was sick (an alcoholic) and that made him make bad decisions, but they were still his decisions and that doesn’t take away from them being hurtful and needing to be held accountable for. And Kate tells her that she is angry at Doug, always will be, but also she can never regret meeting him because he’s the reason Anne exists at all
Eiffel learns how to say three phrases in sign language before he meets Anne in person. They are 1. I’m sorry 2. I love you 3. I understand if you hate me
Anne calls her stepdad ‘dad’ and calls Eiffel ‘Doug’ so people think he’s the stepdad. he hates this but can’t bring himself to say anything abt it because he really hasn’t been a father to her
Eiffel becomes conversational in ASL for her!!! he’s really bad at it at first but Kate helps to translate for them while he learns.
At Kate’s behest they do ‘family counseling’, but it’s mostly just Kate being pissed at a baffled Eiffel who has no memory of any of the shit he did and eventually the therapist just makes Kate switch to individual therapy.
Minkowski and Kate become besties. so fast. they bond over having a complicated history with Eiffel who they have both deeply cared about but also found to be a horribly reckless idiot who endangers the lives of those around him. Eiffel finds it deeply troubling that they are friends and hang out without him.
Speaking of which!!! Minkowski is basically an aunt to Anne. Doug had his license revoked with the accident and never got it back (and doesn’t remember how to drive anyway) so Minkowski drives him back and forth to see Anne.
Anne is one of 3 living people outside of the Hephaestus crew who know Lovelace is a dear listener duplicate and has been sworn to utmost secrecy.
Kate has literally no idea how to handle Eiffel being back without any memory. He’s not the Eiffel she remembers but she’s still pissed at him. He can’t fully understand the scope of what the past version of him did to her. He apologizes a million times but it will never be enough because it wasn’t him who did it, not really, but it looks like him and sounds like him and she can never look at him without seeing him the way she did at the trial, as a monster who hurt her baby.

Hi guys! I want to talk about a minor problem I have with Amphibia and how they could've been done better. I will not be talking about any of the big problems that people have already complained about, like Sasha and Marcy's lack of screentime, their character arcs, parents, nobody talking about Marcy after "True Colors", yada yada yada, because we don't need another post like that, and I want to keep this overdue rant as short as possible. This is based on my personal opinions along with a few others, but feel free to disagree with me if you want. But with further, let us begin...
Tumblr media
Anne almost always gets way too easily forgiven for f*cking up.
Okay! This one may be a hot take because I have never seen another person complain about this. But this has been eating me away for MONTHS, and if no one else is going to say it, then I will. While this occasionally extends to some other characters depending on the episode. The one I want to talk about most is Anne. Now, at the start of the series, Anne was pretty much a jerk with a heart of gold. She was selfish, bratty, lazy, and irresponsible, but she did learn from the mistakes that she made and became a true hero by the end of the series. While some of these flaws and mistakes are not worth talking about, there are still others that are actually worse than what the show's narrative portrays them to be.
They may not be as bad as leading a toad army to invade the capital city, burying the only thing that could get Anne home, or sending your friends to another world on purpose. Anne has still made some pretty questionable decisions, even to the point where they often cross the line.
Here's a list of some of the worst things Anne Boonchuy has ever done from Season 1 and 2:
Breaking Hop Pop's favorite cane that also happens to be a keepsake of his father and grandfather all while making fun of him.
Manipulating Sprig into taking Bessie the family Snail on a Joyride without reading. Which is like someone taking a car out for a spin without a driver's permit.
Forcing Sprig to marry Maddie despite his obvious discomfort for Pizza Dough and later forces him to date Ivy while he's still engaged to Maddie.
Faking being sick to get out of farm duty, which led the Plantars getting sick themselves and even thought they were all going to die from red leg.
Slacking off while she was supposed to be protecting the frozen townsfolk, while aware of what happens to one of them while they're frozen. Which, of course, led to Polly almost getting eaten by a giant weasel.
Causes massive property damage with Polly while on the streets of Newtopia, and later breaks into Newtopia University in hopes of finding a rad college party. The second one was Polly's idea, but Anne had no problem going along with it.
A team effort along with her frog family. Sending a giant chicken to attack Wartwood. Which BTW can create tornadoes, breathe fire, and even turned their loved ones into stone, all because they forgot to buy everyone gifts. Sure, Anne was against the idea, but she still went along with it.
What do characters usually respond with when Anne admits her mess ups?! "It's okay! You're good! What you did was serious, but it doesn't matter that we almost died, as long as you learned your lesson."
Though Anne still at least got a lot better, as the worst things she's done in Season 3 were covering up some major plot points from her parents, robbing a museum to get a clue on how to find a way back to Amphibia, and tricking Blair the Balloonist into flying a hot air balloon. Though, the first one is still a little f*cked up, but she did have selfless reasons for doing these, and she came clean for 2/3 of these.
But still, 90% of this show is just a lighthearted slice of life cartoon, but when it shifts to its dark story driven and plot twisting side, this is where the narrative (and by some extent Anne herself) gets pretty hypocritical. It's pretty much when Anne messes up and lies to other characters. It's a simple error in judgment. But when other main characters such as Sasha, Marcy, and even Hop Pop do the same to her, first they gotta face hell for it, and then they get their redemption arc.
Yes! They did do some serious sh*t, and Anne had a right to be mad at them. But it seems that other characters are just not allowed to even stay mad at Anne when she does pretty similar sh*t. I mean, yes, she does try to make up for it, and yes, she admits what she's done most of the time, and eventually, she does become a better person from them. But so have Hop Pop, Sasha, and Marcy. But again, they didn't get the protagonists treatment. They got hurt and thrown around like ragdolls because of one or two big mistakes, and even that wasn't enough.
While Anne sometimes faces some consequences for her actions, like breaking Hop Pop's heirloom cane with HP giving her dish duty for a month (Cmon man! You should've given her way more than that!), gets banned from an arcade because she threatened to eat newt kids for cutting in line (which is not important), and most importantly, gets stranded in Amphibia after being peer pressured by her friends to shoplift it, all on her 13th birthday. Which I guess was enough for karma itself to feel so bad for her that she will hardly ever worry about facing any lasting consequences for her misdeeds ever again. While karma beats the cr*p out of others who would dare lie and betray our precious protagonists, even when they have sympathetic reasons for doing so.
Tumblr media
Speaking of, this leads to me to clarify something that some fans have misinterpreted since the beginning of the series. The flashback scene in the second episode, "Best Fronds," was intended to show where Anne's distorted views on friendship and some of her toxic traits come from. Not to justify every single bad decision Anne has ever made, like what some fans think.
While I'm not gonna say that Anne was just as bad as Sasha before Amphibia, as it does show that Anne had her own personal flaws that she had to get through without depending on her friends. Who were more enabling her flaws than causing them.
However, while the show does try to show that Anne wasn't exactly much better in their friend dynamic than they were. For the reasons I mentioned earlier, it instead paints Anne as the least toxic one or not being toxic at all. With them only making a handful of moments that show that even after their betrayals, Anne still isn't much better than them. But the usual wacky slice of life narrative in her character development episodes downplays the severity of her actions, with Anne only just getting an emotional lesson after nearly getting everyone killed, and some of the said lessons being brought up in a few episodes to test her character or as examples to show others how much she has grown.
Tumblr media
Now, I'm going to do some comparisons between Amphibia and The Owl House. While there are several things that Amphibia did better than TOH and about an equal amount of things TOH did better than Amphibia. One of those things that The Owl House did better than Amphibia was the writers treating each and every character fairly. The characters make mistakes and learn from them without the narrative downplaying the seriousness of their mistakes, and it isn't always "Okay! You're forgiven! What you did was serious, but it doesn't matter that we almost died. You learned your lesson, and that's what matters." While it doesn't give other characters the short end of the forgiveness stick for doing similar sh*t. With that, it also makes the character arcs a little bit better, in my opinion.
However, I'm not saying that Anne's character development was bad or that Matt Braly is treating Anne like how some see Alex Hirsch did with Mabel. The show did alright with changing a bratty teenager with flawed views of friendship into a true and selfless hero. All of what I described seems to what TV Tropes would call "Protagonist Centered Morality," and if I'm being honest, but because of that reason, I don't find Anne to be the most appealing character to me. I'm sorry! I know that a lot of you love her, and she's the second most popular character in the show; with the first being Marcy (my favorite), but I don't even dislike her either. I just feel that the narrative could've done better in treating the characters more fairly, like how TOH did with their characters. I really want to like Anne more than I do now, but for what I described, it makes it kinda hard for me to.
Tumblr media
That's it for my opinions on this. This was longer than I thought, so if you read it this far or read it at all. You either think that I have a point and should do more of this or my analysis stinks, and I should never speak my dumb mind again. I'll probably see how this goes either way. If anybody else here still cares about this show.

P5R Random Thoughts #4: Ann and the Formation of the Phantom Thieves
Just a little note on something that struck me as interesting when I went back to rewatch some of the Phantom Thieves' awakenings - while Joker will eventually come to embody the justice the Phantom Thieves seek, he is relatively aimless at the beginning of the story, without much direction for this burning resolve and anger at injustice he has. Fittingly for a character who gains power through social bonds, the direction this justice will take is strongly influenced by the decisions of the people he meets early on - I've already talked about Ryuji as the driving force which breaks through a lot of Ren's early kind of spaced-out aimlessness, and of course, Morgana, who provides the two with a means to act. This post though is about what Ann contributes to the early conviction of the Phantom Thieves, because it's. A. Whole. Lot.
Ann's awakening is not just the formation of her own resolve, but also the foundation of what would eventually become the Phantom Thieves' entire brand of justice.
Tumblr media
[ID: Screenshot of an in-game cutscene from Persona 5 Royal. Ann, newly awakened and transformed into her Panther outfit, points a gloved finger directly at the screen, glaring furiously. She says “I will rob you of everything…!” End ID.]
Look at this. No seriously. Look. What is she saying here?
The kind of abuse that Kamoshida has inflicted on Shiho has caused her to lose hope entirely. Her future, gone. The respect of her peers, likely gone. With how much stigma still surrounds sexual assault victims, it is highly likely that she has pity from adults around her at best, their judgement at worst.
Kamoshida has stolen Shiho’s dignity. Her reputation. SA is a tool of violence that oppresses and humiliates its victims. And ordinarily, there would be nothing these kids could do to someone with that kind of social standing.
But with her awakening, Ann has declared that she will rob Kamoshida of his dignity right back.
Morgana’s been going on about being cool phantom thieves before, but this line is what firmly cements them as thieves, not heroes. While they certainly do act on behalf of those without power and attempt to seek justice for them, the primary goal established here is much more karmic. The Thieves steal desires, yes, but it’s so much more than that. By taking the desire, the whole foundation crumbles. Palaces literally collapse. And the abuser, left with nothing but their guilt and a burning need to confess it, is robbed of the thing that gave them so much power over their victims, and what they took from their victims every day - their dignity. Their societal reputation.
This direction for their justice is kickstarted by Ryuji and Morgana, but solidified with the addition of Ann to the group. Even before the awakening itself, you get the sense that this is the case.
Joker chases down Ann in the subway, the second major action he takes since his arrest and after his awakening that he makes entirely without influence from Ryuji or Morgana. He was already set to do something about Kamoshida, but hearing what Ann was going through very obviously cleared any lingering doubts about his course of action, despite the risks. As another less important but still interesting note, Ann is also the first of Joker’s future friends that he actually saw. She’s had a huge impact on him.
And it doesn’t end with her awakening either. Joker, Ryuji and Morgana leave it up to Ann to decide Kamoshida’s ultimate fate. This is a turning point. They are all willing to let her kill him if that’s what she believes needs to be done. Ann’s decision, therefore, not to finish him off is what sets the foundations for the Phantom Thieves as a group that does not kill. This in and of itself is likely a reference to og gentleman thief Lupin's refusal to cross the line into murder, so I find it pretty interesting that Ann is the one to decide this path for the group instead of Joker.
Tumblr media
[ID: Screenshot from an in-game cutscene from Persona 5 Royal. Ann stands in front of a cowering Kamoshida as she firmly states “If his mind shuts down, he can’t admit his crimes.” Ryuji, Joker and Morgana watch from behind her. End ID.]
Ryuji and Morgana at first mistake this action as a kindness, but the beauty of Ann’s mercy is that it isn’t mercy at all. Death would be an easy out for someone who’s hurt so many in such horrible ways. Ann says “you will live with that guilt for the rest of your life. you don’t get to die. everyone will hear exactly what you did from your own mouth and then you will spend the rest of your life making amends for all the harm you’ve caused.”
“I just think death would be too good for him.”
Their targets are robbed in the same way they robbed their victims, leaving them inelegant and blubbering messes in front of the world. But as a side effect of leaving their targets alive, the target seeks to make amends how they can, without necessitating any forgiveness from the people they’ve hurt. This justice is a blend of retribution and rehabilitation, and it's this mix that makes the Phantom Thieves’ sense of justice so satisfying and appealing to victims.
So while the first Palace was mostly about self-liberation, it set the stage for the eventual justice they would chose to embody - victims helping victims, children helping children find courage in pushing back against adult oppression by reversing the position of power and stealing back what was taken from them - their dignity, respect and reputation.
And most importantly, they make a choice never to restrain oneself or hold back from action in the face of injustice - a core sentiment that Joker and Ann both share in their awakenings.

Me when I started to worry they would genuinely make that lady Susan (I love Susan and did NOT want her to be that bad vibes lady)
Also this is your reminder to... Watch Classic Who wherever you can find it!! It's a really enjoyable show to put on while getting things done in the house or multitasking :)) and it's okay to skip Doctors, it's just too long not to. There's no shame in watching a show for fun.. as in watching how you enjoy it most. We're all true fans no matter how much we have seen. I personally watch at least the first and last story arc per Doctor as my rule right now, though I have seen a LOT of the First and I don't want to miss ANY Fourth at this moment (I'm on him right now.)
Nobody knows what I mean when I talk about that ridiculous space worm that was literally. And I mean GENUINELY. Just green bubble wrap around a guy. You're missing out on so many goofy effects, but also some clever editing for the time and some stories that are really exciting! And some boring ones! But the boring ones are when I get my things done so thank the writers for my productivity
Do yourself a favor and sit down while this senile old man uses a blue box to NEVER get where he intends to go. Realize how little things really have changed. Marvel at the stories somehow drawn out into 6 episodes. Make fun of it. Love our show and know that we are the luckiest fans because we will NEVER run out of content :]
Acquiring it is the hard part... If I could make mine available to you all I would... What harm would there be in the BBC putting it up somewhere for us? The old Moomins series was given to us free on YouTube and look at how that franchise has flourished!! I don't think anyone will probably read my 1am paragraphs but we should really just team up and grovel and maybe BBB (Big British Broadcasting (lol)) will let us have it 🥺
Anyways here's an unrelated keysmash from gebratenekinder https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B5yMKWVStuN3RDJmYlU4eEhBSDA?resourcekey=0-24FTXxiK6QtXBnlj0MECbw

I don't think people say this enough.
I think Marilla is pretty amazing.
She was really surprised by life and ended up raising three children (and did pretty good job).
Books mention that her father was very stern and childhood was not very happy (+ the heartache of the later years). She could have easy go to the opposite way and become bitter and angry towards life.

Me with my Raised in Amphibia au: hehehe polyam wives. Queen Marcy and her two royal consorts against her evil dad 🥰 just the three of them against the world. Love each other more than anything. Unconditional loyalty.
Me with my role swap AU: what if Sasha purposely destroyed Marcy's sense of self and everyone cheered her for it. What if the bad guy was in the good guys' side and the good guy was in the bad guys' side. What if the abuser was regarded as a hero specifically because they manipulated and tormented their victim into submission and said victim was considered evil and worth punishing by everyone except for a couple of criminal toads.
