I have never in my life drawn this much in such a short time, I got really used to doodling for fun for the first time. EVER.

Art has been difficult to enjoy for me for years now since I was always too hard on myself, and sketching out characters from a really goofy meme series has been delightfully freeing. When you're cringe you can do whatever the fuck you want

I've said as much on this blog before, but Skibidi Toilet has given me more laughs, excitement and angst than 99% of anything on broadcast telly. DaFuqBoom is a master of storytelling without dialog or even facial expressions on most characters most of the time. It's been a delight to follow along with this series!

It's given me enough brainworms that I started writing fan fiction (something I'd not done since I was a teen) and I ended up writing literally a novel's worth (currently >136k words). I've greatly enjoyed reading everyone else's fics and seeing everyone's fan art! It's been a treat to be part of Skibidi Tumblr and see all this creativity and love - I don't think there's a Skibidi fan community like this anywhere else on the internet.

(better still, if they go back to his place after the school volunteering activity and his parent(s)/sister jokingly mention grandkids/nieces/nephews and she’s like “ew i hate kids” or smth like that, but maybe more discreet idk how to tell even my own parents i hate children, let alone my (nonexistent) bf’s parents 💀)

once again it’s not that she actually hates kids, but sees them as a different species and can’t deal with them because they scare her, and sometimes bully her. 💀

Ngl this is actually so me, I love this idea so much- But the best part is the fact that I actually worked with kids for almost 2 years, and my friends club has us interacting with kids too... (I tried to do most of the characters but I had no ideas for some of them, but you can always re-request with the ones that I missed and the second I think of some ideas I'll def write it!!)

Isagi Yoichi -> Do we not remember when that one kid stopped him after the u-20 match.. Bro is good with kids, so luckily he can save you

-> He will slightly chuckle at you when you show up to this place where the children (gremlins) are at you slightly freak out, and he will laugh at you even more when your awkwardly standing in the corner because your way to freaked out to actually go talk to any of these kids

-> Has to keep reminding the kids not to laugh at you, and that your just not the best socially

-> Eventually tries to find you one of those kids who are also standing away from everybody else for you to interact with, both of y’all have something in common, you hate the other kids!

-> He will very much get confused on this skibidi toilet bullshit (who isn’t, tbh-) but he’ll sit through it so they can be entertained while he tries to make sure that your still alive in the corner

-> If you actually started talking to the kid that he sent your way he’ll be kinda proud, I mean obviously it’s not the other 10 kids he has with him, but it’s a step in the right direction!

-> If not he gets it, I mean what he’s watching with them right now is downright terrifying, so why wouldn’t the minds who consume it also be terrifying

-> Later on when you two finally end up heading back to his house he tells his parents about how you two were volunteering with children and when they offhandedly mention that it would be nice to have grandchildren in the future he can only laugh.

-> He grew up as an only child and I’m assuming he didn’t have a bunch of friends when he was growing up so I don’t think he would be the absolute best with kids, but still better than others

-> The kids will be a little confused when he starts trying to teach them about business and economics saying that this was the age he started learning about running a business

-> They might end up gravitating towards you since you’re just kinda confused along with them, trying to explain to him not every kid grew up with their future of running a family company.

-> Will totally laugh when he sees how freaked out you are with these little (gremlins) kids trying to get your attention and asking if your any more fun than Mr.Business (Which they had nicknamed Reo) -> Will eventually learn and get them to leave you alone, after almost 10 minutes of you trying to hide behind him or anywhere else in this room so they can’t talk to you

-> Ends up helping them instead with other things like reading and math stuff, not the brain rot of skibidi toilet (thank god)

-> That night you two had ended up going out to dinner with his parents as they wanted to have a nice sit down meal while they talked about what was possibly coming up in the future, including your future with Reo, and kids. He smiled and took your hand in his.

getting on my soapbox for a minute, but as a young adult librarian (in the US, specifically), it drives me up the wall when other adults—educators, other professionals, concerned laypersons—go on and on about how this next generation is so uniquely awful! self-interested! addicted to their screens! illiterate! no attention span! never goes outside! keep talking about skibidi toilet and percy jackson! back in my day, we read Serious Literature and snuck into our parents’ liquor cabinets and played in the street!

like, about half of the complaints are obviously attributable to kids and teens these days having lived through the trauma of a bunch of school shootings, a global pandemic (that’s still ongoing), the extrajudicial killing of some of their peers by the police, and heightened awareness of the horrors going on all over the world, due to social media, along with the fact that their lives are rigorously scheduled by the adults around them and if they do try to do drugs or screw around with their friends or just hang out outside in public, there’s an incredibly high chance that they’ll get the police called on them—the teens in my area can’t even hang out on the lawn in front of the library without one of our “concerned” neighbors calling the police! 

and the rest is just like, incredibly normal kid/teenage stuff. like, they’re just young. they’ll grow out of it. don’t you remember being a teenager? we were just as self-interested and badly behaved, and we generally preferred texting or passing notes in class or playing stupid computer games to actually paying attention to boring schoowork. in fact, I think this current generation is actually ahead of us in some ways, like social responsibility, due to changing norms and changes in what we teach in schools. when I was in school, “should gay people be allowed to get married?” was still considered an appropriate topic for debate and “you’re so gay” as an insult was something I heard on a daily basis. I’ll gladly take “bro that’s so skibidi!” over that, actually!

as a YA librarian, the moral outrage over YA literature is the most baffling to me, like…yes it’s an emergent category that’s come to exist over the last idk 20 years or so, targeting the 12-18 age range. depending on how old you are, maybe it didn’t exist when you were of an age to read it. yes, compared to adult literature it’s often a simpler, quicker read, and it tends to focus on 14-20 year old protagonists and their concerns…because it’s aimed…at teenagers…why is this so hard to grasp? when I was a teenager, it was the same moral panic about harry potter and the hunger games and twilight. practically all I read as a teenager was children’s fantasy (tamora pierce, patricia c. wrede, diana wynne jones, jessica day george, gail carson levine) with a sprinkling of shakespeare, and I went on to be an english major. I turned out fine.

and so what if people do grow up and keep reading YA literature? (despite all the scaremongering about this, it doesn’t actually play out that often in real life, btw. in my professional experience, most people get through high school and college or so and just naturally move on to adult lit, because the concerns of teenagers just don’t feel applicable to their lives anymore). but so what if they do? are they hurting anybody? i’m sorry if you feel like they’re sullying their minds with their infantile tastes, and that your preferred literature, whatever it is, would have a more enlightening effect on their lives, but every person is not you. they’re allowed to have their own tastes and preferences and areas of interest. i obviously think that it’s important to learn about the tools of rhetoric and the humanities, and that everyone could benefit from a little bit of it—or I wouldn’t have studied to be a librarian—but guess what? there are lots of different avenues to learn that, and different resources are going to work better for different people.

also, I’m sorry, but not everyone is going to be an english major, and that’s fine. people specialize in different things, and lots and lots of grown adults get through their entire lives only reading stephen king or james patterson or colleen hoover. or not reading anything at all and listening to the radio for their news and entertainment. it’s fine. it’s literally fine.
