Good Morning! It is 8am on a Sunday! and I want to go back to sleep! but I have a train to catch at 9!

So, Birthdays!! I posted about it on Reddit like almost a year ago (the first thing i ever did on reddit, actually!) So I'll copy paste that and change some things because i think I have changed some things since.

So I started this because of my fic series One More New Direction and i went a bit inane due to, like, timelines. so i wanted to give everyone birthdays if they didn't already have them. (and obviously have a note of them all just in case they could be used in the plot)

Here is a screenshot from my timeline google sheets of all of the birthdays (ignore the OCs and the colour coding, it's just me trying to keep track of who is new and who is graduated, this is also why Roderick isn't in this, becasue in my fic he hasn't transfered yet (this is the year between S5a & 6) and Jane hasn't started highschool so that's why she's not on it) and I'll explain them (mostly S2 NDs) under the cut (my reddit comment amended, basically) 💛

I know I missed Blaine but... he's not in my fic as a ND member at all so i didn't give him a birthday just yet because i haven't needed to.

Puck: Aug 17th 1993 I choose Mark's actual birthday because Glee did that with Kurt so why not the other characters. - I see Puck as being the second oldest after Kurt, just based on vibes, so Mark's birthday fit here.

Rachel: Dec 18th 1994 This is her canon birthday. this means she turns 16 in S2 which makes her the youngest of her year group. I've headcanoned that she skipped a grade, or maybe her dad's started her in school a year earlier than everyone else because, well, it's Rachel.

Santana: Jan 12th 1994 Basically I used Naya's birthday. I know this messes up Finn's 'canon' birthday but bare with me.

Finn: Jan 15th 1994 I didn't use Finn's canon birthday because in S4 Sue says he's 19, like a lot, and I also couldn't find it anywhere but the Fandom Wiki. So his canon birthday doesn't work. Finn dies at 19 and if his birthday was the canon one of Aug 24th 1994 he wouldn't have been 19 when he died but 18. So I changed it and used Naya's birthday and what was said during S1's madona episode that Finn was 3 days younger to come up with Jan 15th.

Quinn: Feb 1st 1994 Basically I just looked up her birthday and there was a random thread on Fandom Wiki that stated this was her birthday so I rolled with it because it works with the timeline.

Britt: March 14th 1994 It's what it says on Fandom Wiki, but I don't remember it ever being said in canon. However it's also Pi day (3.14) so that's fun for the 'math genius'

Tina: Mar 28th 1995 A year younger than the others as she graduates S4 not S3. I was going to go with Jenna's birthday just because but apparently her and Harry (Mike) share the same birthday! So I had Mike have April 28th and moved Tina's up a month

Mike: Apr 28th 1994 See above I guess. It's Harry's birthday so I rolled with it. graduates S3

Sam: May 6th 1995 A year younger because he graduates S4. It's said in the prom episode that his birthday was a week before so I looked up when American's have prom (I'm english) and yeah. this was what I decided??? I can't remember why exactly I chose that date but I'm sticking with it because I can't change it in my fic now without messing stuff up. I maybe would change it to a week earlier so at the end of April.

Kurt: May 27th 1993 This is canon and makes Kurt the oldest in the club which is fun since Chris is the youngest of the main cast and it's also Chris's Birthday take away 3 years. My headcanon is that his mum and dad kept him back a year before starting school because he was so small or something OR that he missed too much school when his mom died and had to retake a year. I'm leaning towards the latter because that's a sadder backstory.

Artie: Jun 14th 1995 A year younger than everyone. again, I used the actor's birthday because I'm lazy and it fit.

Mercedes: Jul 10th 1994 I just see Mercedes having a summer birthday for some reason. IDK? literally just picked my mom's birthday.

Unique: Aug 20th 1995 so she's in the year below Sam/Tina/Artie in my headcanon which is why she's not still at McKinley or highschool in S6. Alex's Newell's birthday.

Ryder: Sep 14th 1996 A year younger than Unique. A Sophomore in S4 (I think that may be said somewhere? or at least implied?) He could be a Freshman too, so 1997 or stick with '96 and have him kept back a year because of his dyslexia, but I decided against that in my story. Just a random date I picked because I didn't have anyone else in September.

Marley: Oct 4th 1996 Also a Sophomore in S4. (again I think that's said?) Melissa's birthday

Jake: Oct 17th 1997 Freshman in S4. Honestly, it's simply because Puck doesn't know him and if he was a Freshman in S3 than Puck would have maybe interacted with him? or at least known there was another Puckerman in the school and I don't think it's said anywhere that he's transfered or anything. so hence, a freshman... Jacob Artist's birthday.

Joe: Nov 12th 1994 completely random. In my head canon he's in the same year as Sam/Tina/Artie

Sugar: Feb 14th 1996 A year younger than Sam/Tina/Artie. I also just like the idea of her birthday being on Valentine's day, it kinda makes the whole Sugar Shack thing kinda sad in a 'noone would come if it was just for my birthday but! Valentines!!' way

Kitty: Feb 22 1997 Young enough to come back in S6 as a Senior (don't get me started on the confusion of that timeline) Random date.

I also headcanon the McCarthy twins as around late-1998/1999 (I picked 23rd May because Twins and Gemini! Only one based on astrology!) and in their sophomore year in S6. Same with Spencer

Rodderick ~ 1997 ish. I believe it's stated that he's a senior in S6? Same with Alistair??

Jane's a Freshman in S6 so a late-1999/2000 birthday.

and Myron is around November 2001 ish because he turns 13 in roughly November 2014... i think... again S6 timeline is insane.

HEADCANONS

Jake Puckerman was born and raised in, Lima Heights. His mother worked for the finest country club while raising Jake all on her own. When he was a child, Jake never found out the truth about his father, or why he had split on them but that didn’t stop him from being the best he could. While his mom would work at the club, he would try and sneak into some dancing classes and found his passion.

That included fixing up cars and dancing. He also started to car race as well, but that fell short since not a lot of people would give a pink slip to a kid. So that’s’ when he started to fix up cars and skipping school to doing something that wasn’t school. He cared about school, but not to the point where he thought that he had to go to school every day. That changed when he decided to try out sports and got on the basketball team. His grandparents helped his mom out with the charges and fees along with the physical he needed.

As he got older, Jake found out the truth about why his father had split from them. He had an older half-brother and a half younger sister.  In the middle of his rage, he snuck out of the house and started to get into trouble. He had become a womanizer, just like his dad and kept living that lifestyle until one day his mom sat him aside. She didn’t want him to live like that, sleeping with a bunch of girls while raising hell and breaking the rules. Jake didn’t mind it since he figured it was something that he had going for him besides dancing.  

After a while, Jake changed his attitude and hit the books again. He had heard about Julliard and their dance program, which pushed Jake to do better in school and in dancing. His mom noticed his talents; she signed him up to go to one of the dance schools that Lima had to offer and knew that he was going to have a wonderful dancing career, that’s if he decided to stop getting into trouble. He keeps his dance classes a secret or it would hurt his bad-boy cred, and that’s not what he wants.

Jake actually submitted an application to Julliard and hasn’t told anyone about it, except for his mom.  He’s not entirely sure if Ryder would react great, but he figures he needs to go after his dream and get out of Ohio.

MRS. & MR. PUCKERMAN (Parents):  Jake doesn’t have any relationship with his dad, since he had left them when he was little. His mother, Lori, on the other hand, has been his saving grace and been there for him in many ways of one as she struggled to keep them afloat. NOAH & SARAH PUCKERMAN (Half-Siblings): After he found out that he had a half-brother and half-sister, he made it his mission to get to know them, since they were in the same position as him. RYDER LYNN, MARLEY ROSE & KITTY WILDE (Best Friends): Jake’s close to Ryder, despite Ryder going out with the girl he still loves, but he pushed that to the side. He doesn’t have a close friendship with Marley, but he’s still friends with her. Kitty on the other hand, he sure misses that blonde and wonders how her life is.

THREE THINGS ABOUT JAKE:

Jake Puckerman was a dancer before he could walk. Everyone around him, though at the time it was only his mother and grandmother, knew he had untapped potential and they did what they could to make sure it was nurtured for as long as he’d be interested. He first started training in ballet and eventually ventured out into other areas.

Growing up, they moved around a lot. His mother would always have a couple jobs, making sure there was enough food on the table and money for dance. When he was thirteen they eventually found something, back in Lima where he’d been born, a little more permanent. It was small but it worked for the three of them.

Jake knew he had probably close to fifty other siblings out there if anything his mother told him about his father was true, but to be totally honest, he wasn’t super interested, at least not for a while. It wasn’t for another couple years that Jake would feel any need to try to build any relationships with any of his half siblings.

The older Jake got, the more competitive he got with his dancing, and the more focussed he was about keeping it as a part of his future. He applied to a few different Art’s/Dance programs all over the country, including some in NYC and LA. In the end, Jake settled on Juilliard.

It was hard at first, being so far from his family, but Jake was thriving. He loved the city and he loved being surrounded by like minded people. While in New York, and once he started going out for auditions, Jake dropped his last name. His father didn’t deserve any of the credit, so he wasn’t Jake Puckerman anymore, he was Jacob Samuel.

After a few years, and far too many small roles, Jake got what he wanted. He landed John Laurens/Phillip Hamilton. When he called home, he was just a little kid again, a kid who’d gotten everything he’d ever dreamed about. This was his breakout role and this is where he’d start to get noticed. Getting Hamilton completely kickstarted Jake’s career.

Jake really enjoyed playing John, especially being allowed to play into the historic romance between him and Alexander, it was a dream. There was honestly nothing more exhilarating than being on stage every night. He did that for nearly a year before he got another call asking if he’d take up the mantle as Evan Hansen. There was no question in Jake’s mind, of course he’d go for it. It was so much more … everything than John. He was able to show off that not only could he sing and dance, but he could act too, and well.

Everything in Jake’s life was going really well. He dated every now and then, but nothing all too serious, he was a live in the moment kind of guy. Jake knew he wasn’t famous per se, but he was getting pretty used to people knowing him on the streets or the subway. He loved the attention and he wasn’t going to lie about that, but he also knew he was lucky.

One night, on his way home from a show, everything changed. One person decided that getting behind the wheel drunk was a great idea and with that Jake’s future was drastically changed. He’d been tired so he opted for a cab instead of the subway, a choice Jake would later regret. The scene was … something else. When EMS first arrived on scene, they were prepared to call everyone DOA, but luckily Jake was spotted and his life was in their hands. The paramedics and firefighters worked quickly and efficiently and got him to a hospital but despite all their best efforts, Jake ended up losing his right leg, just below the knee.

The Jake who woke up with one leg was not the same Jake that performed. Depression hit hard and fast, something Jake had never really dealt with before. It took a team of doctors just to get him to eat and actively participate in PT. Once he was medically cleared, Jake was admitted into an inpatient rehabilitation centre to learn how to navigate the world in a whole new way. It took a while before he could move with anything close to grace, but once he put his mind in it, things got so much easier.

It was a couple months before Jake felt strong enough to move back home, slightly ashamed to be back in Lima. Jake felt like a failure, like he’d failed his dreams. It wasn’t until he visited his old dance studio, something he felt he owed, and was flocked once again with kids who looked up to him so much, that the idea of dancing again even occurred to him.

It was hard, Jake would never lie about that, but there was something about getting back to his roots that sparked an old fire in him. The first time he got through a whole routine, albeit short, he cried like a baby. For the first time in forever, things were just a little more normal, a little more right.

A few months later, after a lot of practice and deliberation, Jake applied for an open teaching position at the studio. He’d teach anyone, but he wanted to focus on helping kids, especially kids who had it a bit harder financially. Dance had always been important to him, and he was just so grateful to have it back.

Jake’s parents were high school sweethearts. At least, that’s what his uncle always told him when he asked. (He’d stopped asking a long time ago). They were sort of from different social circles. He was a star athlete and she was, well, definitely not a Rally Girl by any means. Still, they did all the typical things high school kids who thought they were in love did, including going to the Senior Prom together. Jake was born just over eight months later (his mother had always said that her son did things when he pleased).

Despite Tanisha’s belief that she and her boyfriend would someday get married and have a family, things changed very quickly after she told him she was pregnant. He was going off to college, on an athletic scholarship, and he wanted nothing to do with her or the child. The only thing Jake’s father ever gave him was his last name.

His childhood was typical of Dillon. His uncle, Eli, was the one to step in where his father wouldn’t, teaching him everything from how to throw a perfect spiral, to shooting a jumpsuit, to how to ride a bike. His mom did everything she could to keep food on the table and him happy. She worked long hours for several odd jobs until she scraped together enough money to purchase the cafe when Jake was about four. The rest is history. Jake loved it, actually. It was something his Mom actually enjoyed, and something that made her happy. It also meant they got to spend more time together, as he spent most of his time after school there (and still does).

When he was young, Jake was placed in just about every after school program available to keep him busy while his mom worked. This meant that he played peewee football with Noah. It was around this time, age eight or so, that Jake began to realize that he wasn’t the only Puckerman boy in town. Parents whispered about it. Other kids asked questions about his “brother”, whom Jake had really only noticed in passing. They went to the same school. They played on the same team. That was it. One of Noah’s friends laid a brutal tackle on him during their second ever game and claimed that there was only room for one Puckerman around here.

Jake decided around then that football wasn’t for him. It probably disappointed his father, but Jake honestly didn’t care. He took every opportunity he could to distance himself from both his father and half-brother, dropping out of football and picking up basketball almost as if to spite them both. He was a natural, it turned out, and he played on the school team and in various travel leagues throughout the school year.

Now in high school, he’s known as the captain of the varsity basketball team and a skilled shooting guard, going for records and hopefully leading his team to State. Again. He’s got a bit of a reputation around town as a troublemaker, but that’s honestly probably just because of his family’s reputation. He’s definitely no stranger to women, but he’s also got a soft spot for a home-cooked meal, a good book, and writes poetry in his spare time so…maybe the persona he puts on in the hallways of Dillon high isn’t the same as the one he has in the cafe with his mom and Quinn.

Q: Being a resident of Dillon, what is your stance on all things Panthers?

A:  I’m probably supposed to say I love it all, right? Well, I think our basketball team’s great. There’s a lot of talent on that floor every night and we’re definitely going to do our best to bring home another title. But it’s no secret that I’m not exactly a fan of the football team. I just think they’re kind of overrated, you know? Their competition’s nothing compared to ours, and one player doesn’t carry our entire team. So I guess you could say I’m divided.

Q: We’ve heard some residents using the phrase “Texas Forever.” Do you see yourself still living in Texas 10 years from now?

A:  I don’t think I’ll live in Dillon. I mean, look, I love parts of this town, but my name’s got too much history for me to really make my own path. The goal is to get a basketball scholarship somewhere, get a degree, and maybe swing playing basketball for a career somewhere. If that doesn’t work out, I’ll have a bachelor’s degree and another path in mind. But if the Spurs, Rockets, or Mavericks want me, I’ll definitely come back to Texas to play.

Q: What’s your favorite class right now?

A:  Uh, probably English. I know it sounds lame, but I don’t mind reading all the classics. Plus, I like writing. And I guess I’m kind of good at it, because Miss Patterson keeps giving me good marks, and there are actual comments on my papers, so it’s not just the basketball thing…I don’t think.
