i feel like some people are still so weird about cats. i taught my cat "sit" recently and upon mentioning this to my one friend he said he didn't really believe cats learn tricks like dogs do (because they're independent-minded and don't have a drive to please their owners) and was like "she's only sitting because she knows she usually gets a treat from you if she does"

unlike dogs who... definitely don't normally learn tricks through positive reinforcement or like treats.... apparently...

Sweet Pea update! She went back to the vet today cause she had another bout of mushy poo, so back on the probiotics she goes(she also got a booster shot). Otherwise she's a really healthy 4lb baby! (We did it Sweet Pea! 4 whole pounds!)

She's also slowly been meeting some of the other kitties.

Mostly Ronso! He was planned to be a late introduction, but he really was very interested in her, so we've been doing some supervised meet and greets.

It's gone really well! He is very patient with her and has quickly warmed up to her, he isn't at all who I thought would be her first friend but here we are.

I use wood pellets for kitty litter but I left kitty with my parents for the week and they used clay litter (even after I bought them wood pellets! They didn't even open it) and now we're home and Fiona like stepped into her litterbox, shook her paw out, and immediately stepped out. she's never had a problem with the litterbox before but now I'm worried she won't use it because the parents wouldn't just. do what I asked them to to take care of my cat

As some may have deduced, I have been having weird neighborhood interactions. People are VERY CONCERNED about people parking on the public street in front of their house or putting a soda can or bagged dog poop in their alley trash can.

I live in a city. I don't know how people are this precious about their alley or curb. It's a fucking city.

I was wondering if it's regional because I'm a transplant here and it wouldn't occur to me to consider street parking or outdoor garbage as "mine".

Imaging in the first time the researchers get to see a full gathering takes place makes me giddy. Like maybe they knew the cats went there but didn’t know the full scope of it and when ALL of the clans come to this one place and seem to have a huge inter clan meeting just blows them away (maybe from then on they livestream the gatherings so everyone can see them)

They likely don't livestream the meetings for a very simple reason:

It's the mid-to-late 2000s when they start this! Going by the idea that 2003 is the date Rusty enters the wild, about 4 years later the Chelford suburban expansion causes them to leave (and that's from me padding the time some), and Millie brings the Team to the Lake with her collar about a year and a half later, we're looking at a project start of 2008-ish.

Livestream tech existed but wasn't very popular yet.

Twitch (and whatever its in-universe equivilant is gonna get named) comes in 2011. 2013 anyone can livestream on YouTelly.

So livestreaming becomes feasible in about 3 years, and is likely not adopted until 4-5 years later! The first gathering they probably livestreamed was AVoS-era.

Simply not having a wonderful Christmas time. I was up all night last night because my dog got sick from a treat we gave her and was puking a bunch :(

Finance meeting: *gets derailed because some of the coworkers decided to bash cats for some reason???? and then other coworkers (including myself) came to the kitties' defense*

Coworker A: They poop in the house! Me: So???? So do you!

Coworker A: They shed! Coworker T: So does your dog tho?????

Coworker A: They step in their own poop??? Coworker W: And your dog doesn't run around doing the same??? Coworker A: I-I mean- Listen I'm very conscious of where they put their paws! I-

Coworker T: It's not even the poop that's the issue, it's the puke. Coworker R: From what???? Me: Usually from cleaning themselves, it's not that often, tho. Coworker A: That's disgusting! Me: Cleaning yourself???? And, hey, at least the cat deigns to clean itself! Your dog doesn't! And why are you acting like your dog doesn't puke too?! Coworker W: I once saw a dog who at the entire inside of a stuff animal and then puked it up. Yeah no, I'd rather deal with the cat's puke. At least it's a side effect to the benefit of them cleaning. There was no benefit gutting that squeaky toy.
