Been obsessively listening to this album lately. Just thought I'd share lol The whole album is mostly fun and fast pace except for the first and last song. Last one goes fucking hard on the religious trauma. All these songs live in my head rent free.

what if i said i actually love too weird to live, too rare to die and think it’s underrated. what then.
#idk at least the time i’ve lurked around p!atd fandom stuff it feels like no one ever brought up this album 😭😭#vices and virtues too but at least then there was still leftover ryan ross scraps to hold onto#but like. idk i like the dark las vegas vibes of twtltrtd#i’m not the biggest fan of this is gospel but once you get past it it’s got some bangers ngl#one super minor gripe with the album is that i think the brobecks version of far too young to die is better than the twtltrtd version#it’s minor but it’s true. listen to both versions of the song and you’ll understand#my only real complaints though are just with the lyrical content of girls/girls/boys and casual affair#i like the songs themselves but the lyrics….. who let them cook actually#what was brendon doing. why are you singing about affairs like that whilst you’re a fully married man. ????#but honestly the transition towards the end of the album to more romantic songs is nice#i think it fits well and is a good way to slowly die the energy down without completely squashing it#the end of all things is genuinely a beautiful song but an even more beautiful ending to the album#the lyrics are brendon’s wedding vows and the piano is very nice#i like the effects on the vocals and i think they were a good choice to make everything even more cohesive#it doesn’t take away from the emotional value of the song and it also makes it fit better on the album than if it were just a regular#kind of piano ballad#but then also having collar full be the song leading up to it? even better#i fucking love collar full and agh. having it lead into the end of all things is perfect for it#it’s fun on its own but it’s even better in context i think#anyways. too weird to live too rare to die is an alright pop rock album. go listen to it if you want#me.txt

Thank you for including Nicki in your rap post. Many people have tried to write her off for years and downplay her achievements due to her personal life
Yeah, I saw someone trying to do that on my post (RE: her marrying that pedophile and getting her brother out of jail for rape). While I don't think those actions are in good taste, I don't think that's enough to get me to write off her legacy.
She was the first foot in the door of women in mainstream Rap music that felt authentic and individual (besides, like, Lauryn Hill, who couldn't handle the spotlight at such a young age and who turned to a life as a private citizen after all the shit she was dealing with while working on Miseducation.) Unlike women rappers of past, she didn't have to do the whole "female mafioso" thing that a lot of women had pushed onto them by their clueless male counterparts, she didn't have to play into the role of dating / being seen attractive by a powerful man in the music industry to get signed on and she didn't have to write hypersexual lyrics that didn't reflect her in order to get those men to sign on her work.
She was allowed to wear bright clothes and make goofy alter egos and make silly voices and be fun and independent and talk about love and sex from a black feminine perspective. She brought a potent and unique sense of charm and vibrancy to the world of Hip Hop due to her Carribean upbringing, the likes of which are honestly unspoken heroes in the culture (Wyclef Jean brought us Carribean Hip Hop fusion before we even knew we were ready for it, Foxy Brown's assertive and fiesty rhymes and style were huge inspirations on both Nicki and Megan Thee Stallion, Busta Rhymes is....just fucking look at and listen to the guy, man, he's been ahead of the curb from the jump.) She was the first female rapper I can really remember girls my age getting latched onto and getting excited over.
So, yeah. Again, while I don't think the men she surrounds herself with are ideal, it's just not enough for me to write her out of the culture or our history. Hip Hop has always been a boys club, she was the first to change that. In any other subculture, she would be untouchable, or at least would have people talking about her with more sympathy and nuance. Why the sympathy stops for her idk.

Over the last two years I've really gotten into collecting kpop lightsticks. Something about highly decorative and expensive flashlights brings me an immense amount of joy so I don't question it and keep enjoying them.
It has led to me using them as regular flashlights, which is just so funny. But also so practical, plus now I can say I regularly use my collection. I can even use them as mood lighting because all but one have preset colors. The only downside is they use batteries and I keep forgetting to invest in new rechargeable batteries.
Anyways, I spent some time tonight working on a wrist strap for a lightstick I'm taking to a concert next Sunday by the light of another lightstick. Very full circle moment.

Thinking about that poll Im a real album addict like I think I listen to full albums like between 75-90% of the time and the remaining percent is split between mostly listening to songs by A Specific Artist whose albums I have already listened to on shuffle. And then a very much smaller percentage of that is listening to like playlists I only do that some of the time but. It is genuinely a problem because I think it impedes my music discovery cos I rarely will just put on mixed playlists to discover new stuff instead I'm like I will have to sit and listen to this full album and idk. But it's annoying to me I'm like this cos it's led to this thing where I feel like I have to get Really into an artist like I can never just save a few songs and move on which is just dumb cos it makes me less well rounded like but I Don't know cos also I will develop these deep appreciations for certain artists but I think I just need to have more of a balance

the way that this fandom turns so many things into a morality contest annoys me so much...like you'll see posts along the lines of "oh so you didn't like ttpd? so you don't support women's right to speak now? does taylor swift talking about adult subjects make you uncomfortable you child? you do not think this is a masterpiece? are you secretly a misogynist?" and it'll have several hundred notes on it, like no you can not like ttpd because people have thoughts and opinions it's really not that deep 😭
The way they do this with every album that has mixed reactions in the fandom 😭... I've seen people being like, "it's supposed to be really long and have some clunky lyrics! It's supposed to capture her raw, unfiltered thoughts and feelings." To which I say, just because there's a motive behind her decision, it doesn't necessarily mean it's a good decision. Like she's pretty unfiltered and straightforward on Speak Now and even the clunkiest lyric on Speak Now isn't as clunky as some of the lyrics on TTPD
