R: it’s this swanndri shirt it’s got short sleeves and blue checks on it - it’s either that or these black stubbies (or both together)

C: this soft grey cardigan and its cropped on me but the sleeves are the perfect length

R: uh i don’t identify with any of them so cosmos made me do a quiz and it said jax teller? from sons of anarchy? (we don’t watch it lol)

R: dogs are pretty great, we’re thinking of getting one

R: we went away for a weekend and i accidentally ripped the knob off the front of the stove (now we’re laughing about it)

R: we like staying in mainly, but i like to take her out dancing because she’ll just look so happy

This weekend I experienced a tickle tag team for the first time by the hands of @socaltickle5 and @theowylshop at a play party 👀

Long story incoming for anyone interested…

Let me just say, going into this play party I was very anxious because it was my first time in this environment. I didn’t know what to expect, of course I wanted to be tickled, but I didn’t know if I was going to want to be tickled in front of everyone/ whoever wanted to watch. The idea made me nervous and my anxiety was on 100 when I first arrived 😂

A longtime fantasy of mine was being tickled on a X cross, and the opportunity was put right into my hands… deep down I knew I couldn’t pass it up.

So after I took some time to loosen up, I started discussing the opportunity with these two lovely lers, we tested me out… & then got right to it lol

I was tickled in several different positions, laying down and on the X cross... Basically they wrecked my shit 💀

Honestly, being tickled in front of other people was an experience… I kept looking up and telling everyone to close their eyes lmao my shy ass was so embarrassed, but I think the crowd was loving it 😭

Not only was the crowd enjoying my suffering and shit talking, but they were literally taking notes on the skills of @socaltickle5 and @theowylshop ! lol was basically a tickle torture 101 class 😂

It was soo intense! I was worried that my nervousness would affect my sensitivity, and while it may have affected it a little bit, I was still very much ticklish luckily for all of us 😵‍💫

I genuinely considered myself a tough Lee, I thought I could take a lot of tickling but something about 2 people really going in on me made me feel like I was about to combust LOL like let me hang up my “tough Lee” hat , because that was truly hard to bare & that wasn’t even me set to maximum sensitivity. It was taking everything in me not to say yellow every 5 seconds. Lord knows I tried so hard 🥺

All things considered, it was such a fun experience and I’m so glad I did it. I was in subspace for a hot minute after and basically floated out of the building 👻

Shout out to @socaltickle5 and @theowylshop for destroying me and ignoring my pleas for mercy !🤪 you two are QUITE the duo! Always checking in to make sure I was ok, prioritizing my comfort and of course slowing for me the couple times I screamed “yellow” 💀 you both are amazing! 🥰

Because a friend told me she never knows what to write and then never comments, but wants to learn how to do better, I thought I’d compile a list, and maybe it will help someone else as well!

As always, this is unofficial and just from my personal experience writing and reading fic, and talking with other fic authors.

What to comment

Honestly, authors love friendly comments, no matter how small. Here are some ideas for short comments you can write to pretty much any fic you enjoyed:

Thanks for sharing your fic with the fandom :)

If you want to write something a bit longer, you can for example

Tell the author where you have been reading the fic or what you were doing while reading it

Tell the author what you should have been doing instead of reading fanfic (and that it was worth it to read the fic)

Copy a passage (or several) from the fic you particularly enjoyed

Did the author write a note at the end or beginning of the fic? Maybe even ask a question? Sometimes you can reply to author’s notes in your comment

How did the fic make you feel? Happy, made you cry, made you laugh, made you jealous of a character, or made you want to punch an antagonistic character’s nose in? Write it in the comment!

Is it your first fic in a fandom or with a ship? Your favorite fic in a fandom, or with a specific character? Did you read it in one go? Did you savour it slowly reading over days or weeks? Have you enjoyed every update of a multi-chapter? Do you wish you could read it again for the first time? Write anything you want to let the author know about your reading experience!

Is there a character you particularly enjoyed in that fic/chapter? Tell the author you think they wrote xy character really well!

You can always start or finish your comment with one of the suggestions from the short comments to make sure the author knows you liked it :)

If you really don’t know what to write, or are reading fic in a language not your own (though authors usually don’t mind you commenting in your native language) and aren’t comfortable commenting in either language, you can also leave emojis as comments, for example variations of:

Don’ts

There isn’t much you can do wrong when writing comments on fic, but there are a few things you should keep in mind:

don’t criticize (unless negative critics/what they can do better has been specifically asked for by the author, and then stick to the kind of criticism asked for, and best try to include something positive too to soften the blow)

don’t demand more/ask for updates - you can tell the author you’d read it if they wrote more, but don’t put pressure on them, you don’t know what’s happening in their lives right now and for what reason new entries might have slowed down, and they don’t owe you regular or any updates!

don’t tell them what to write (unless the author is taking prompts, and in most cases the comment section is not the right place for prompts, check what the author specified)

Remember: Fan fiction are free, from fans for fans, so etiquette is a bit different than in the Amazon reviews of books you paid good money for! Fic authors don’t have to cater to you, just enjoy that there are fics shared with the fandom :) If you don’t like something, or don’t like a part of something, either close the tab or quietly ignore the issue and just enjoy the parts you do like.

And in general, to end this on a positive note:

Yes, you can comment on older fanfics!

Yes, comment on several fics in a row if you’re reading through fics by one author!

Yes, comment on as many chapters of the same fic as you like!

Yes, you can make art for the fic and tell the author about it!

Yes, absolutely tell the author if you’re still thinking about a fic hours/days/years… after reading it!

Yes, send authors asks on tumblr/other sites talking about how you love their fics, if they link these sites in the author’s notes! (But also comment on Ao3)

Yes, you can comment/review even if you don’t have an account (at least on Ao3 and ffnet)!

Yes, please let the author know if you’re reading a fic for a second time, even if you just write ‘re-read kudos!’

The best comments are also written directly on the site the fanfiction got posted on (so usually ao3/ffnet and not tumblr/discord), both because it makes the note count higher, and because then the comment won’t quickly get buried under unrelated messages or posts.

If you want to leave long comments about different parts of a fic or chapter, you can also make use of the floating Ao3 comment box! It allows you to type your comment while you're still reading, without having to leave the page!

Seems like the weather was cold, because Mr. Weather Man comment about it and also was doing some arms and hands gestures a few times to said that he was cold, poor Louis, but hey we thank him for showing a tank top.

Some observations about the live:-Hands up and down during kill my mind instead of kmm lights (like this other time that they did it in other festival), seems like is a tradition now and I love it.

(DISCLAIMER: my headcanons are my own; I’m an American so some of them might be Americanized. I don’t fully know many details regarding Día de Los Muertos, so I will not in good faith speak much about it in this post)

Captain Price

He’s not dressing up BUT he does go all out decorating for it. His permanent residence, his office, and if he’s on deployment he does what he can.

Really enjoys handing out candy. He loves seeing what costumes the kids/teens come up with every year.

He’s the dad that gets angry when kids TP his house.

MIGHT let you take him to a Halloween party, and if you do get him to dress up it will be something super simple like draping a white sheet over his head and cutting out eye holes😂

If you don’t go to a party, he’ll hang with you at home and watch scary movies with you

He and Soap argued over who would dress up as Ghost. Obviously Soap won eventually so Gaz is stuck tryna figure something else out.

This year, he’s dressing up as Ken, but not like in the Insufferable Straight Man Trying To Win Feminism Points kind of way.

Alejandro

Absolutely fucking KILLS IT at Gaz’s Halloween party every year and has a winning streak in the costume contest.

Always hella creative with his costumes and gets super into it. He probably makes it himself and he goes, like, full cosplay about it.

This year he’s giving… Beetlejuice vibes, don’t ask me why. Broadway!Beetlejuice, specifically. Even makes his own snake like they have on stage, but smaller so he can have it chillin on his shoulder or something.

Rudy

This year he’s dressing up as Lydia so he can match with Alejandro. Even if we’re talking RudyxReader and AlejandroxReader, he’s still gonna go matching with his bestie.

Since he and Alejandro are both Mexican, they’re observing Día de Los Muertos together and with their families.

Between the two of them, Rudy is the one decorating for Halloween because Alejandro spends so damn much time working on his costume.

Spends so much time decorating for Halloween and preparing for Day of the Dead that he nearly forgets to get a costume but it’s fine this year because Lydia from Beetlejuice is quite a simple idea and Alejandro can hem a cheap dress in an instant🥰

Thoroughly enjoyed and loved “Through the Darkness” and the production quality ⭐️ Fabulously performed, written and executed ✨👏🏽 (Special kudos to the actors performing the serial killers! They were skillfully villainous and horrifying!) 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

Especially loved the filter/colours and the angling of the shots - which reminded me quite a bit of “The Guest” in terms of angles and staging choices - and how wonderfully they utilised that technique to make scenes more intimate and poignant, to highlight the stark - or stoically accepting - emotions of the characters❣️ The clean and “simple” framings were simply fantastic!

Loved all the characters and particularly supporting character journalist-Chae 😍🤩 So pretty and principled❤️‍🔥

But what is it with SBS crime dramas and their characters’ un-shippable vibes? 😅🤔 To paraphrase the title of a fascinating article, “Everyone is Beautiful and an ‘Aroace’ Super-workaholic”! (“Everyone is Beautiful and No One is Horny” by Blood Knife)

(Except for our illustrious Team Leader Kook, who was canonically, happily married - offscreen - with children! A rarity these days). Not saying that is an issue per se, but give this pathetic shipping fangirl some crumbs somewhere?!

I wanted to ship someone so badly - for headcanon’s sake - but they made it so difficult 🤪🧐 (Not that I watched these type of shows - I know there will be none - for the romance/chance at shipping but still…)

I encountered this similar problem with “Nobody Knows”, and I am quite sure the performers not being my preferences (or fanciable to me) is NOT the only reason I had a hard time trying to come up with shipping feels, because I had a bit of shipping fun - as ephemeral as it was - with “The Good Detective” and most of the performers were not inspiring much feels either, but I still definitively shipped them while watching the drama. That said, I much prefer TtD as a show than TGD though both are excellent in different ways.

Ah, made me miss “The Guest” and the feels - and fixation - they inspired and provoked ❤️‍🔥😭 Also made me appreciate and thankful for the production even more each turn❣️ (I love TG for the writing, commentaries and stories too, not just the “other things” 😅🥰🥹☺️)

i had so much fun watching this liveshow! thoughts below the cut! apologies in advance for being so longwinded ��

this was about a year after i started watching dnp so this is giving me so much nostalgia for my early phandom days. i can't remember if i watched this live - i probably didn't because the timing of liveshows often didn't work out for me unfortunately - but i definitely remember watching it that day 🥹

it also gave me a lot of happy nostalgic feels hearing them call out so many familiar names like anahita and coconutswaggy. it was like hearing about old friends 🥰

dan was in such a good, high energy mood. i love the way tour energizes him so much. this liveshow had good energy from both of them, but i esp love seeing Tour Dan 😭

6 years friendiversary and 6 years of dinof 🥺 dan doing his typical "i'm so sorry" sarcastic thing about ppl watching him and phil reminding him that he should be thankful. i love phil so much 🥰

the way they are both SO genuinely excited about and proud of tatinof and tabinof gives me so much joy. they truly put so much effort and love into these projects and i love hearing them gush about it 😭

i'm feeling some kinda way about them talking about how happy they are that ppl have made friends thru their videos and the tour compared to now when they always talk about their shows being a way for lesbians to hook up. obviously they still talk about how they love that ppl make friends thru them (which i love), but i love how they also feel so comfortable now talking about their queer audience and queer relationships and sex 😍🌈

ahh that was so much fun! i loved revisiting their first tour energy and excitement while we are in the midst of joint tour number three. often times when i think back to the past, i think about all the ways that dnp have changed over the years, but stepping back into time and revisiting these moments really highlights how it's not a change so much as an evolution. i can still see the 2012 dnp we watched last week and the 2015 dnp from this liveshow in the dnp that we see today. i can see those younger selves in who they are now and see the ways they have grown and see the ways that the phandom has grown and the way i have grown right there alongside them. i just love them and this community so much. ok enough sappiness the end goodbye 🫶💛
