i feel like i share this in every fuckin convo abt hikakyo ever but it still applies now more than ever so here
Tumblr media
the toxicity of hika/kyo and kyo/kao existing in the same timeline though is so funny to me too. kyoya and kaoru dating and hikaru being like wtf why, how could kaoru's taste be so different to mine...how could he like this dumb bastard accountant he's not even THAT hot.
lying awake at night glaring at the ceiling, fists clenched. absolutely furious about it. dreaming about kyoya kissing him in the moonlight. oscillating wildly between being SO MAD ABOUT IT and being like oh god i'm a terrible brother kaoru's going to hate me forever for my dreams about his freak boyfriend doing my tax returns...but like in a hot way ig

hello!! just dropping by to say i love your art lots--- your comics are really funny and have an impeccable sense of comedic timing, your colors are always pleasing to look at, and i also really like your line art. also your most recent doodles that you posted (the one with hinata and izura and komaeda), are soooo cool, i could see them on like aposter
oh i also saw your twins kamuhina au art (incredible) and wondered if you've ever read the fic 'The Hinata Days' by crackerjackermackeral on ao3? if not, it's about twin-brothers-main-course-izuru and reserve-course-hinata, where Izuru is an eccentric apathetic dependent-on-hajime little guy while Hajime tiredly tries to keep him in line. It's really funny and light-hearted, so check it out if you want!
anywho, once again, thank you for sharing your art to the world! it makes me happy whenever i see it on my dash!
Firstly, I want to say, THANK YOU!! This is such a high compliment! I'm always so glad that people enjoy my art! I draw purely for fun and post what I draw equally for fun, so it's nice to see people enjoy things that I enjoy making. I love experimenting with new styles and colors, hence my latest drawings. That's what I love most about art.
As for your fic suggestion, I'm reading it right now! And this is SO up my alley! I looove the twin dynamic going on here, it's just perfect. These fucking lines are cracking me up.

i just finished chapter 4 and this is SOOO good thank you so much anon. i LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS DYNAMIC BETWEEN HAJIME AND IZURU......its like a different flavor hikakao. im becoming obsessed. i think i must draw more kamuhina art soon.
this made my heart melt:
Tumblr media
I LOOOOVE CLINGY IZURU....his dependent swag. this person sees the vision. he cant bare being away from hajime for more than an hour. clingy twins make me go crazy i wont lie.
(also unrelated but i love that sato and mahiru are introduced early. i love love love background characters so when people put a focus on sato or natsumi as side characters im so so happy. i need more hajime/natsumi brotp stuff damn it.)
also REALLY LOVE THAT THE AUTHOR put thought into komaeda's FTD.
Tumblr media
^I was actually having a conversation just like this with a friend the other day, they were telling me why they think Komaeda's FTD was misdiagnosed and they pretty much said this stuff by the book. .. maybe they secretly wrote this.
fuck im gonna be thinkin about this fic the rest of the day now. im also going to go doodle some kamuhina.......i got an ask asking for more and tbh i love them so who am i to say no, heehee

since we are hikakao posters brothers in arms i was curious to ask, a lot of scenarios for hikakao have kaoru fall in love first which makes sense, but what if it was hikaru? how do you think hikaru would act/do knowing he was in love with kaoru and would kaoru figure it out?
i like to entertaining the thought occasionally that even if kaoru were in love with hikaru also, he may try to turn his brother down because he knows it isn't a good thing for them to be together. it'd (probably) cause a lot of issues down the line and kaoru would probably feel like it would stunt hikaru's growth as a person, making him dependant on kaoru again...and to kaoru, that is a fate fuckin worse than death so he'd rather make himself (and by extension hikaru) miserable for this notion of "the greater good". but i ALSO like the idea of kaoru giving in and being "selfish" and accepting his brother's confession and furthering their relationship, but being guilt ridden and beating himself up for it later.
the fact i started this off asking about hikaru and it still became about kaoru....lmao
Okay so I definitely have a lot of throughts lol. Firstly, I like to think of Hikaru as not as oblivious as he may seem, especially not when it come to Kaoru. He doesnt understand/doesnt know how to deal with his own emotions, but he is like at least aware of them or that they exist. So if he fell in love first, I definitely think he'd hide it, and tbh hide it better than Kaoru would. Because I imagine Kaoru all in his head about it like "I can't bring my brother down with me I must try to hide this and preserve what we have I can't let these feelings show" all dramatic like which Hikaru would eventually figure out, while I imagine Hikaru is more "Huh. I'm in love with Kaoru, my brother. Probably shouldnt share this." then like. Just doesn't. I definitely don't see him having as much of an internal struggle about it and is able to act much more normally then Kaoru would.
Which is in part because I like to think that in Hikaru's mind, if they were like Together not much would change, so he thinks whats the point in causing unnecessary strife for Kaoru when he's fairly content with how things are. I think the main issue would be maybe more sexual feelings? But still I dont think he would have too much of an issue hiding those, since he's used to being physically close with Kaoru and is able to separate out his sexual feelings when its at inappropriate times. Wait actually I think the main issue would be genuinely deep signs of physical affection. I like to think Hikaru has a soft spot for hands, like he would want to just hold and fiddle with Kaoru's and stuff, and whenever Kaoru initiates hand holding in a genuine way he combusts a little lmao. And when Kaoru gets hurt ofc. Because he reacts in a way where he can barely contain himself with all his rampaging emotions, so I think in those moments is when it's the closest to being revealed, but Hikaru is too much of a mess to form coherent thoughts and words so it doesn't.
I don't think Kaoru would figure it out tbh, not only because I think Hikaru is fairly decent at hiding it (I say decent cause I think the host club would come to figure him out) but also because I like to think of Kaoru as a bit dense when it comes to things about himself too. Like even if he got an inkling, he'd be like "no theres no way why would you even think that about him" with a hidden "he wouldnt love me in that way i'm probably projecting".
And I completely agree with you about Kaoru either rejecting Hikaru if he confessed, or accepting "selfishly". They'd have a lot to work through whenever a confession happens. But tbh I like to think that any confession that happens is because of Kaoru's feelings. Either Kaoru himself tells him because hes bad at lying or its a heat of the moment type thing, or Hikaru picks up on it and confronts him about it. So as long as Kaoru is oblivious to his own feelings, nothing progresses on that front basically.
So lets say Hikaru has been pining since they joined the host club right (I chose this time because I like to think the more time they spend around others the more Hikaru comes to appreciate, crave, and love Kaoru's presence as someone he chooses to love, not just his identical twin thats his only companion) and Kaoru doesnt start realizing and having a crisis until their second year of highschool. I think on Hikaru's end he would notice Kaoru's feelings shortly after Kaoru himself does due to Kaoru not hiding things well (from Hikaru), then be conflicted if its right for Kaoru but trusts in the end that Kaoru will be honest if he talks about it with him (which he is wrong about, but he will be able to tell anyways because cmon they can read eachother like a book when their thinking clearly), and decides to give Kaoru some time to figure things out and come to terms with his feelings before he says anything.
Kaoru on the other hand realizes his feelings, then just "oh shit oh shit oh shit" and spirals. Thinking that Hikaru would never want this, he deserves better, as you said thinking it would make him dependent on him again and ruin all his growth. Ect. Not realizing that Hikaru realizes he loves him in this way Because of his growth and the more he grows rhe more he loves. But, Kaoru keep spiraling and then lowkey tries to push Hikaru away a bit. In a "it whats best for him" kinda way.
Then it all culminates with Hikaru confronting him like wtf why are you pushing me away. And they argue and Kaoru in the heat of the moment admits to his feelings, causing Hikaru to just. Lose it. Like hes yelling and laughing and pacing and rambling like "I cant believe it. You really think this? What is wrong with you, how could you ever think its best for me to be without you? You really haven't noticed? Its been years now of me being in love with you. And when I realized you felt the same way, because I picked up on it months ago by the way, I was so, so happy. I love you and you make me a better person. But if all I do is make you feel like this. Make you feel worse. Then maybe it wouldn't work out anyways." Like. Straight to the gut. Not really understanding that Kaoru is like mentally ill in ways Hikaru can't understand.
Then ofc Kaoru is like "You don't make me feel worse. You make me feel like I'm precious and like nothing else in the world matters more. And that fucking terrifys me. Because you deserve better than me holding you down. I want you to grow and be able to be happy without me. I feel like I tricked you into feeling like this. Its better that you become independent and find someone else thats better for you."
Then the response "Why do you think I would ever even want to be happy without you? Im not shackled by my feelings for you. You're not forcing or tricking me to do anything. You can't even trust me enough to know that I know my own emotions? I love you. I enjoy loving you. I choose to love you. I am my own person, and I have the autonomy to choose you. You can't decide for me whats best for me. Theres nothing you can do about how god damn much I care, and always have."
Then that leaving Kaoru in fucking shambles because that shatters literally everything his brain has been telling him for not just since he realized his feelings, but since he first discovered what guilt felt like.
I think things overall would probably go a bit smoother if Hikaru fell first tbh. Like it would one big confrontation putting everything out in the open, then slowly dealing with their issues to be better as partners from then on. Vs when Kaoru falls first I think of it as much more miscommunication takes place, because Kaoru is spiraling And Hikaru is confused, leading to more issues worked out over a long period of time, since Hikaru is too busy figuring out his own shit to correctly read Kaoru right away.
Anyways that became so long omg, I have so many thoughts on them rattling in my brain all the damn time. Tysm for the ask I love love love barfing up my thoughts about them. And especially this because i'm getting more and more interested in exploring Hikaru's side of it all, which I feel is a bit less.

same anon as last time))) hello again. for me, while i adore both, i prefer kaohika more. for me, it's a matter of hating people who feminize kao— it's a homo ship for fucks sake. and people act as if one character out of the two just has to be girly. fucking garish (and believe me when i say I've read every hikakao fic online. On non English websites, on AO3, adult fanfiction.org, and yes, every fic on fanfiction.net, and oh, it's fucking disgusting). hika can be cute too, if not more so. like the roles assigned to them in their act is just an act. hika is no more of a top than kao is— if anything, as said in the manga (by Hani-senpai) "
i like to think hika is the more dependant twin. i feel like he just can't live with the thought of being away from kao. and that scene in karuizawa where he acts as if it was nearly the end if the world when kao was only grazed lightly on the cheek. kao is hika's pillar.
but hikakao fics are just written by stereotypical authors nowadays, who reduce kao's character to nothing more than the seductive/uke/cute/coy baby brother (who, for some reason, has all the worst, inhumane things happening to him, like r/pe, pr/stitution, being abused by hika, which is fucking bullshit, being lusted over by creeps, shitty love triangles, crossdressing crap, bc let's be real, if kao ever crossdresss, hika would too) and said authors write some filthy, mindless smut and that's it. some even misusing gender dysphoria or transgender identities, just wanting excuse to treat kao all delicate and super duper uke (and this will lead to awfully written, ooc fics by authors who mischaracterize hikaru and kaoru and soon, the newer authors would follow in their footsteps and spread the disease.
long story short. i now hate top hikaru fanfics with a passion, and only read either top kaoru fics, or just non-smut where it doesn't feminize kao or write stereotypical shit based on their FAKE act (assigned roles). And you might think I'm deluded and completely out of my mind, but yes, this affects me greatly. I love Hikaru and Kaoru. they're my comfort characters, and i've been in the fandom for so long… and seeing the gradual descent to abomination.
thank you for listening to my ted talk, even if you didn't ask :')
YOU. ARE SO. REAL FOR THIS.
The fic im writing rn is switch hkk/khk :)
I have also read every single hitachiinx2 fic on the internet. you name it, ive read it. i 100% agree w u.
ugh like PLEAE LET THEM JUST BE IN LOVE. CAN WE HAVE A FLUFFY HITACHIINx2 FIC??? PLEASE???
its almost like half the writers out there only read and watched up to The Twins Fight (ep 5 in the anime, I dont remember the manga chapter).
I love top kao so so so so much <3 I also love top hika so so so much <3 so long as they treat the twins differently based on personality, not just their stage roles. kaoru is sarcastic, witty, but also level headed. he may get flustered somewhat easily, but he plays it up for his role. hikaru is more quiet, and only fully comfortable with himself when he's just with his brother. he is more emotional as well, but bottles it up.
these things are so easy to see if you just pay attention.
like literally. they are so damn different. the fic im writing rn literally has their povs showing that they enjoy their act, but also find the roles constraining, especially when they just want to be themselves.
also, ofc! im happy to listen to ur opinions (which r very based)

kaoru: what the fuck do you MEAN you thought we were together this WHOLE TIME
hikaru: how could you NOT? I thought you just knew, too!
kaoru: why the hell would i know something like that???
hikaru: i KISSED you before bed last night!
kaoru: you do that EVERY night!
hikaru: KAORU.
kaoru agonizing over the fact he fell in love with his own brother going thru depressive episodes and beating himself up over it generally becoming the most pathetic meow meow there ever was and then finally. finally it gets to be too much and hikaru wont stop pestering him abt whats wrong bc hikaru is worried obviously and kaoru admits it in very very vague terms and due to hikaru's confusion, has to keep rewording whats wrong until he blatantly just says "im in love with you, in every way."
instead of a shocked or a bewildered response hikaru just looks mildly confused and says "you werent before?"
hikaru had just assumed they were in some sort of a relationship this whole time and that kaoru assumed so too and never said anything about it. kaoru is now filled with the urge for physical violence.

May I ask you for two questions? #1 and #13?
1# What is your favorite trope?
Aged up AU ! (Especially Aged up AUs that don't follow the canon storylines)
I love these kiddies, but writing them as adults allows me to further their stories. And see how they've grown. I also really love writing Aged Up AUs that don't follow the canon storylines, where the characters meet for the first time as adults. It gives me a chance to be creative with them!
13# What is your least favorite fan-fiction story?
I've read so many that I can't really pin point one, but I will say the fan fictions that involve "One-sided HikaKao + HikaHaru" are my least favorite kind. They usually revolve around Kaoru being in love with Hikaru and Hikaru being in love with Haruhi instead and not sharing his feelings with his brother which leads to Kaoru killing himself off bc of a broken heart. Whenever I see stories like those, I typically steer clear.

Rotten Palaces (Part two)
Rating: Mature
Fandom: Ouran High School Host Club
Pairings: KyoKao, MoriKyo, HikaKao, TamaHika
Summary:  (Crimson Peak AU)
TW: Ghosts, Murder, Major Character Death, Gore, Incest (NOT FOR KINK), Abuse, Major Illness, Poisonings
The streets were crowded as Kyoya walked briskly to the office of Mr Komatsuzawa, a thick envelope pressed tight to his chest, containing the fruits of his two years of labouring over empty page upon empty page with ink-smudged fingers. His father would probably be more impressed if he'd completed a non-fiction book, but he'd toiled over this earnestly enough that the man decided to say a good word for him. Hence, his visit to the publishing office.
He wanted to do this on his own merit, but as usual his father's kind favours were given without a single conversation with the recipient. He thought it'd be rude, however, to turn the man down and waste his time, so he'd neatly packed up his manuscript and was on his way to the other side of town.
The brick building was imposing, but a welcome sight. No more worries of destroying the copy and having so much of his time go up in smoke; not to mention with about an hour to spare to fit in some quick edits and such. Final primping before it came before an audience, even if said audience was a single person.
Up the stairs he went, hand trailing the railing, marching ever onwards to the gentleman's office and to a professional critique.
"Ootori!"
He startled slightly, looking around before seeing the distinctive, cropped hair and large build of his lifelong friend, a smile stretching his lips and his chest fluttering in a pleasant way. A warm way.
"Morinozuka!" He replied in kind, the two of them meeting on the staircase. Mori had gotten taller yet again since he'd left Ouran, now a whole head taller than Kyoya, "You should have told me you were back. Father's been concerned that you had fled to the Outer Hebrides, never to return to civilisation again."
"As attractive an idea as that is," The taller man nodded, his steady, calm voice betraying just a hint of amusement, "I can't very well help others if I'm living my life as a hermit. I did go to Edinburgh to study. In fact, I'm setting up my own office as it is, on the floor just above us. Not enough heart specialists here, as you well know."
"No, but the great Morinozuka is here to fill that devastating void," He teased, smirking, to which Mori just rolled his eyes.
"Enough about me, dear Ootori, what about yourself?" He enquired, "You're a little way out from the house."
"I'm here on business myself, actually," He informed, adjusting his glasses, "The novel is finally finished."
"Oh? Con-"
"I think, at least. Fiction novels never seem to get completed, always more to edit and such," He continued, practically steamrolling over Mori's attempted congratulations.
"Well, still incredibly impressive," The older man nodded, almost sagely, despite being barely a year his senior, "You must let me read it soon, you've piqued my interest with the snippets you've talked about these past few years."
Their conversation was cut short, however, by the appearance of Mori's mother and cousins, who seemed to be tittering about the latest in society life. It was a strain for Kyoya to not roll his eyes, but he endured, if only to not upset his friend.
"Of course, we met them upon visiting dearest Takashi, and they seemed to have followed us back to Japan," Mrs Morinozuka tittered, before registering that there was more people in the stairwell than the two Haninozuka children, "Hello Master Ootori, you probably haven't heard the latest, but we've got a couple of visitors from Satoshi's business acumen across the sea."
"It's nothing to do with me, mother," The boy in question murmured, head ducking in the way it did when he was embarrassed, "Mere coincidence."
"Well, I hear they share a Baronet title," Mitsukuni Haninozuka imparted, to the confused mutterings of his younger brother and Satoshi.
Kyoya nearly rolled his eyes, not favouring the idle rich all too much. Some would perhaps call him a hypocrite, but the simple truth was that the Ootori Company branched off into many sectors, with a majority focus on healthcare, but also useful sects such as finance and other worthwhile investments. His father inherited the company, as one may inherit a title, but the man was more than talented enough to be worthy of the honour; although he wouldn't wish to say that aloud. Far too saccharine for his family.
"What exactly does being a Baronet entail?" Satoshi questioned, and it seemed Kyoya could hold his tongue no longer.
"From what I've heard, while once a title holding honour - if not all that highly ranked - it is now nothing more than a position held by greedy parasites who do too little to help the people they are meant to protect - and too much to hurt," He rambled, the others on the stairwell looking a little shocked that he'd expressed such an opinion so openly.
Bar Mori, that is. The man might've hidden it behind some papers he was carrying, but he could see the tell-tale crinkles besides the taller man's eyes; he was smirking. It partly emboldened him to straighten his back and debate his position, although he knew that he'd certainly get a smack from his father if he continued on and word got back, young adult or not.
"Well, I assure you, Master Ootori," Mrs Morinozuka smiled, demure with a hint of belittling humour, as if Kyoya were merely a naïve child she had to correct, "These parasites, as you call them, are perfectly charming - not to mention excellent dancers. Although,  you've certainly made your distaste for balls and parties alike... well known. Therefore I cannot imagine how that would concern you. Our very own Pierre Bezukhov."
"Mother, please -"
Mori was once again cut off - a habit he'd do well not to fall into - as Kyoya squared his shoulders, raised his chin and corrected the lady in front of him.
"If I were to be any of Tolstoy's characters, madam, I would prefer to be Alexei Karenin," He smirked, before turning on his heel, "At least he was a somewhat successful man."
He decided to walk to the other staircase to continue on to Komatsuzawa's office. While he would have liked to talk to Morinozuka longer, he couldn't stand society tittering. While useful in regards to finding out important information, he had better things to do today.
Hence, why he sat in the office for far too long, ink smudging his fingers as he rewrote a sentence or two, and changed the odd word. It was still a finished draft, of course, even if he was constantly editing and such. A writer's task was never done.
"Good afternoon, Master Ootori."
The deep, steady voice startled him, head snapping up from his manuscript and jaw a little too slack than it should have been in order to give a decent impression. Or, at least, not seem like a gormless idiot.  He raised from his chair, offering a noticeably blackened hand to the older gentleman, purely out of reflex.
"I see you're early," Mr Komatsuzawa continued, sitting at his desk and not taking the offending hand. Not that Kyoya blamed him, mind you.
"Just a little, I suppose," He nodded, a pleasant smile on his face, and thus began the arduous task of simply sitting and waiting as his manuscript was read over.
Kyoya's back was ramrod straight, purposefully still, yet he was searching for any micro expression that would give him a hint as to whether the man liked his writing or not. A furrow of his brow, twitch of the lips, anything. He supposed stoicism was to be expected, even if it was slowly but surely driving him to madness as the minutes ticked by without a word.
"A ghost story..." Mr Komatsuzawa stated, voice deadpan, "Your father didn't tell me it was a ghost story..."
"Well, it's not really a ghost story," He began to explain, ignoring the shrinking feeling he was getting from the tone of voice Mr Komatsuzawa used, "The ghosts are simply a metaphor, and -"
"Yes, Master Ootori, there is no need to explain to a publisher such basic techniques of writing," Mr Komatsuzawa intoned, raising a brow, "However, you must understand that this still appeals to said demographic, and that the publishing industry is positively swimming in the supernatural right now. Spiritualism is the new trend..."
He nodded, holding his tongue lest he said anything else to offend.
"If I may offer a word of advice Master Ootori..."
---
The maids startled at the slam of the front door, but Kyoya couldn’t care less. He wasn’t running, but he’d kept up his brisk pace since he left Komatsuzawa’s office, his shoulders tense and muscles coiled tightly. It was fair to say he was irked.
“Not a triumphant slam of the door, I take it,” Yoshio observed plainly, without so much as a hello as he stormed into the dining room, “From the absolute thunder on your face, at least.”
He had to take a breath, not wanting to vent his anger in an indelicate, brutish manner, even if the comment only made the frustration much worse. It wasn’t his father’s fault, per se, but his involvement in all this wasn’t doing him any favours.
“You didn’t even tell him… anything about the novel?” He began, voice forced into calm monotony, even if he could hardly keep the glare out of his eyes, “Father, while I am grateful to you for such an opportunity, I’ve made my opinion very clear; I don’t want to succeed due to pure nepotism. I don’t want to meet a publisher simply because of my last name. I’m confident in my abilities… in my skill…”
Yoshio looked up from his plate for a moment or two. He sighed, napkin wiping at the corners of his mouth before being placed on the stark, white tablecloth once more. He stood, and Kyoya stood still, waiting for whatever it was that Yoshio was about to relay; be it a reprimand or otherwise.
“My boy, my child,” He began, tone tender and hand on his shoulder; Kyoya couldn’t help but give him an unimpressed look at that, “I know that. I know you have talent and drive, and I’ve imparted my own standards onto both you and your siblings. I’m proud of that. However, you are born with privilege that you would be a fool to neglect.”
He swallowed harshly then, biting down his anger once more as he shook off his father’s touch, going back to his seat at the table. He wanted to snap at his father, explain his annoyance, but he knew that Yoshio wasn’t really going to change in any meaningful way when it came to this. For someone so focused on the merit of one’s own work speaking for itself, he was certainly machiavellian in his approach to helping his children to succeed.
“Komatsuzawa was forth-coming with his opinions, I take it,” Yoshio inquired, sidestepping the previous conversation.
Kyoya groaned, sounding far too adolescent in that moment, taking a seat himself and resting his face upon his hand, elbow on the table. “He says that I should include a love story,” He grimaced.
“Well, he is old fashioned that way, but if he thinks it would be more interesting -”
Kyoya clicked his tongue, shifting in his seat and crossing his arms over his chest. “It will bog down the actually interesting and relevant parts of the plot. I simply don’t have the pages to spare,” He explained, “That’s not even getting into the issue of how I’d know anything about such a thing. I leave the house once a fortnight, at most.”
Yoshio acquiesced to that, at least.
“Well, while this was meant to be a celebratory present…” Yoshio began, reaching down and procuring a small, perfectly wrapped gift box. He only raised an eyebrow before taking it, delicately untying the golden ribbon, “I’m a jack of all trades, one might say, so I know the importance of good tools…”
Kyoya opened the box, greeted by a new fountain pen. Not something that was merely picked up on a whim or out of necessity, however; this was expensive. It was elaborate by even his standards, gold gilded and expertly crafted. There was fine etching, flowers and swirls in impressive detail, and a nib that promised to provide an elegant flow of ink. Truly beautiful.
“This is a most generous gift, father, however…” He hesitated for a moment, not wanting to seem ungrateful, but plowing ahead anyway - better to be direct, “I actually hoped to type it, in your office.”
“Type it?” Yoshio parroted, a look of confusion on his face.
“Well, I was thinking. There are many publishing houses in bigger cities - like Tokyo,” He elaborated, “And a typed manuscript would look far more professional.”
“Of course,” Yoshio nodded, going back to his meal.
Rather than listening to the impulse to retire to his room, to pour over his manuscript once again with all the fury of a madman, Kyoya sat down to dinner with his father.
A thoughtful action deserved some sort of recognition, he supposed.

really into the idea lately of college au hikakao with angst and bad habits and of course one sided feelings...at least presumed so. im very very very tired rn so i will maybe elaborate later but like. imagine habing trouble making friends in a new environment away from ur old friend group so ur spemding lots of time with ur twin again and shit gets weird. and like... esp kaoru, he cares immensely abt doing the right thing for his brother, so like he'd neeeever ever say anything abt his feelings. and like if it were hikaru, he cares less abt what society thinks but like, evem if kaoru is into guys this is incest . like yeah haha they joked abt it in high school but if he told kaoru he was actually into him what would kaoru say. like he likely would never cut hikaru off but it could make shit awkward and hikaru is just trying soo hard to have self control while subtly tryna figure out if incestmaxxing is on the table. i think u can tell which scenario im thinking abt the most

Hikaru: Tamaki, you never told me Haruhi was so beautiful.
Haruhi: Aw, thanks!
Hikaru: Not as beautiful as my brother, but you know the law.
