Note
So with Tim y'know how when Bertie died he went basically crazy
Headcanon sometimes he still gets unnecessarily upset and just destroys shit on the ship and nastya gets pissed
I'm pretty sure Tim getting violent whenever he hears about moons is at least semi-canon, so this is perfectly plausible

So.
The Mechanisms.
An obsession of mine for a while now, and it's reached the point of absolutely cursed Headcanons that I shall now share with you all... Oh and watch out for the DTTM spoilers.
So, after Nastya's departure, everything went to shit, right? Well. Jonny, from all the evidence we have, knew that would happen all along- Nastya was just the first grain of sand to fall in the hourglass of the countdown of their undoing. He'd been fighting against time for so long, and then... All in vain.
So yeah, that's my idea of why Jonny's so focused on violence and drinking and all that- he's trying to distract himself from knowing the inevitable.
The inevitable demise of the Mechanisms.

regressor nastya is so close to me,,, headcanons pls?
Tumblr media
Regressor Nastya Rasputina!
she regresses very young!! baby nastya!!! at first she's not a big fan of it and doesn't like seeming weak. this is remedied when she is given a little stuffed octokitten (made by toy soldier, who proudly hands it to her when she is Having A Breakdown)
for the longest time, nastya only regressed around carmilla. she was basically a mom to her, and and carmilla could be sweet with her. braiding her hair, showing her (probably dangerous. its fine) experiments she was working on, that sort of thing
nastya very seldom would regress around jonny because he was 1) loud and 2) annoying. this was her Happy Time, and having jonny around made her want to scream. so she did
carmilla fussed at jonny for making her upset lol
nastya and aurora!!! aurora has a ton of lullabies downloaded that she plays for nastya when she can't sleep
nastya doesn't play too many games when she's regressed, she's usually too young for it, but she loves dancing. she'll dance around on her tiptoes to whatever songs aurora plays, and she just has a blast with it
since her blood is literally just mercury, she's a bit too heavy to carry around. she does not understand this. pick her UP. only brian can, so she toddles over to him and makes grabby hands until he picks her up and carries her around the ship
she's so quiet, so sometimes the crew doesn't notice she's regressed and needs help. but she doesn't want to be too loud about her needs, even though she knows she's too small to help herself. this ends up with tears, and then frantic "nonono you're okay, baby, whats the matter???" until they can get her settled down and happy again
she will absolutely crawl away and get into mischief. she has ended up lost in the air ducts and crying for help more times than anyone can count. does she learn? no
aurora tries to keep her out, but nastya figures out ways around the protections
how to make her NOT get into mischief: reading to her! fairytales especially!
until she gets bored and still inevitably crawls away
she once got a bunch of octokittens to transport her around the ship, and they attacked jonny. after that, carmilla got a baby leash and put it on her so nastya couldn't get away and destroy the ship. (within a day she figured out how to get it off and it went on as business as usual)
at some point they learn that she does like drawing and scribbling (mostly scribbling if we're honest) so they get crayons and paper and she is occupied with doodling stars, blobs, robots, and swirls. she very proudly shows this off to everyone and gives them so many drawings. just so many
also she refuses to take naps. just flat out refuses. no sleep! never! never ever!!
...unless she can have her nap while cuddling ashes, that is the exception

Some friendship headcanons about Anastasia and members of my Chaldea
Tumblr media
After I got Anastasia from the five star ticket, I have been thinking about her potential relationships in my Chaldea. These are based on IRL Grand Duchess, her portrayal in FGO, as well as the novel Viy.
Georgios
Georgios is among the first people Anastasia warms up to. He is considered to be Moscow's protector (and, even after the capital was moved to St. Petersburg, its coat of arms was still used in a lot of official settings), and he may or may not have been syncretized with earlier Slavic heroes/gods, which made him one of the most popular Christian figures among Russian people. Anastasia would be vary of him at first, because he is also heavily associated with the military, however, things would change quickly once she learns about his passion for photography. In real life, Anastasia was a creative person with a bunch of interests, and famously photography was among them. I can totally see them going on photo hunts together, and, once Anastasia starts showing her more fun-loving side, I'm sure she will start utilizing her Schwipsig ability to create chaos, while Georgios will be ready to take the perfect shots of everyone involved. Don't stay between photographers and their prey visuals, kids!
Once these two get close, Anastasia will start thinking about giving him some kind of present to show her appreciation, and she'll decide that giving him something that depicts him will be funny. It is worth noting that the most prestigious medal in her time was named after him, however, due to her distaste for soldiers, she would consider it a poor gift. Instead, she will give him an old kopeyka coin, because he actually indirectly named it. When it first appeared, it was depicting a person with a spear (kop'yo), though the figure was supposed to be more symbolic and only officially became St. George a hundred years later. I think, the coin from Peter the Great's reign would be the most fitting: that was when the monetary reform acknowledging St. George happened, and he was also the first Russian emperor and the founder of St. Petersburg (duh), so he is an important figure in Anastasia's family history.
There is also a neat detail that, while Anastasia in FGO is associated with winter, and one of the possible inspirations for Viy is specifically associated with the 29th of February, Georgios is associated with spring, since his feast day is celebrated around Easter. So, he feels like a perfect person to bring out Nastya's warmer side.
Overall, I think he sees her as some kind of a daughter figure, while to Anastasia he is her grandpa-in-crime, ready to help in both life and mischief.
The Unofficial Death Club (that has some cutesy official name to avoid triggering Scheherazade), consisting of Nitocris, Ereshkigal and Gray
This one kinda ended up as a backstory to my other headcanon that, after being summoned, Gray became friends with Nitocris and Ereshkigal.
According to her Interlude, Anastasia was summoned some time before the Lostbelt arc, so she probably befriended Nitocris back then. They are both royals associated with death, and their families were screwed by political machinations, so they have a bunch of stuff to unpack, while Viy establishes rivalry with Nito's Medjeds (as shown on the screenshot above).
If we broadly follow the timeline, then Ereshkigal's event happened right before Chaldea was supposed to disband, so she was probably only summoned after Novum Chaldea was established, which makes it around the same time as Gray. Ereshkigal is another figure associated with death, and Nitocris probably heard from Waver about Gray, so it makes sense that Nitocris would be curious about them. The problem is, they are all introverts, so it is actually Anastasia who took everything in her hands and brought them all together.
I don't have Eresh, so I'm not confident about writing her, but Gray is another death girl with magical companion, plus her Arcade quote established that she took some basic drawing lessons (and Anastasia was fond of drawing in life), so there is some ground for the girls to bond. And, as my farming showed, they simply look nice next to each other.
Also, while the "official members" of the "club" are Nitocris, Ereshkigal and Gray, other death related Servants, like the First Hassan and Shiki, are welcomed here. And Anastasia may or may not have tried to persuade them to join.
Doctors
Anastasia's mother and two oldest sisters became nurses during the first World War, and worked with patients until the family was arrested in 1917. Anastasia and her other sister were too young for such hard work, but they were frequently visiting the hospital and liked entertaining the patients. Anastasia was very fond of these visits; in FGO, she references this by asking if she can call the MC her patient.
Anastasia holds all Chaldean doctors in high regard, because she saw first hand how hard yet important their job is, and sometimes visits them while they work. Her feelings towards Sanson are rather mixed, him being an executioner and all. However, the crazy Nightingale is right up her valley! As a figure of winter herself, Nastya was very pleased that she eventually became a Santa. Asclepius isn't very fond of her visits, but he comes to acknowledge that keeping patients in high spirits is also a form of treatment.
Beni-Enma
This one is less about Anastasia and more about Viy. Enma-tei welcomes all sorts of supernatural beings, including Elementals, so it's not that weird that Viy might have visited it at some point (and recommended it to Anastasia, hence her presence in the Sparrow Inn event). It is also interesting that, while their stories are very different, both Beni-Enma's backstory and the novel Viy feature dead girls, supernatural beings and haunted buildings.
Anastasia is curious about, yet a bit vary of Beni-Enma. Beni can detect lies, which is unfortunate for a prankster like Anastasia, however, that only promts her to learn to be more creative with her truths. Beni-Enma, in turn, calls for her help whenever she has monkey problems, because Anastasia kinda established herself as their boss during her stay in the inn.

thinking about the Mechs and how strong they are physically. because im weird and enjoy muscular characters. anyway headcanon list incoming
Jonny: honestly kinda weak in the sense that he can’t lift much weight. doesn’t bother to work out, but could probably do really good with cardio for obvious reasons Nastya: quite the opposite; she works with machines all the time and is able to lift whole car engines with only a little struggle. very stronk (: Ashes: can deadlift anyone in the crew and then some. somehow able to beat Raph and Tim in arm wrestles Raphaella: same as Ashes but more. she’s forced to do all the heavy lifting (aka dragging corpses of the crew back to Aurora) because her wings make for faster transport. only one that can pick up Brian with zero struggle Tim: the routines he went through during the military never really left him, so he’s pretty fuckin ripped. though he tends to overwork himself and usually ends up passed out from exhaustion because he just doesn’t know when to stop Brian: when you’re made of nothing but copper and bad decisions, you can do just about anything if you think it’s funny enough (easily the strongest on the crew but never uses it for useful shit) Marius: pretty buff, but can’t lift much with his mechanical arm because the pull on his muscles starts to really hurt after a while. has managed to beat Ashes in an arm wrestle once. never again TS: Jonny saw it crush someone’s skull with its bare hands once. do with that what you will. Ivy: plenty of upper body strength from bookshelf climbing, but only really good at carrying her own weight.

Ashes!hades?
i am so sorry for the delay - i added some more to make up for it
hades---
i fully believe that ashes went all out as hades; the dramatic flair they hold is impeccable and i cannot picture them not using it
i wildly jump between believing that jonny was cerberus, or that an octokitten was, and i think both fit perfectly (both? both.)
i think some of the mechs rotated between being persephone; whoever was around at the time was simply called by that name, and it wasn’t questioned (they were too afraid to)
i read it as being a title, rather than a name? simply meaning ‘hade’s current partner’
i think it started with demeter jokingly calling tim ‘kore’ before watching him go completely off the rails and slaughter an entire lower level
then immediately backtracking and calling tim ‘persephone’ instead
ulysses came very close to being a persephone, as hades did care a great deal about them
hades <3
no but seriously i think hades was one of the olympians most thirsted after (i mean, have you seen the photos of hades!ashes? like, fuck they’re stunning)
ashes does wish that nastya and ivy had joined them for a short while during their stint as hades.
ashes wants to be able to dress their partners in pretty things and i stand by this 1000%
‘why do you have all that gold?’ why, to give to their partners, jonny.
ashes 100% plays card games for people’s lives; a win could gain you ten years of immortality, maybe more, but a loss… well, the acheron does need more minds
then some additions from my partner @a-molluscoid
jonny as thanatos; it starts off with jonny simply ‘depopulating’ the lower levels
then those hired to prevent him start getting bolder, and considerably more annoying
and he remembers an earth film that tim had made him watch; scream. so of course, he gets himself a knock-off scream costume (which ashes thinks is phenomenal)
and thus he gets hired; as long as he wears the costume, he can kill whoever the fuck he wants
(this is for my ‘send me something mechs related and i’ll give you headcanons’ post)

mechs timeline... or something
good evening gender identities! i’ve been thinking about the order the albums might have happened in, chronologically, and how events from some albums might have affected others! and now i have a whole long theory/headcanon about it, because i’m insane. so. here we are!
(obligatory disclaimer that i did make some assumptions about events that happened offscreen, and while they’re all based in actual canon, they are still, y’know, headcanons that shouldn’t just be taken as fact.)
so, typically the assumption is that the albums take place in the same order that they were released (ouatis udad hnoc tbi, with ttbt songs wherever they fit) which is possible (and probably correct tbh)! but this line from ‘ulysses’s will’ caught my attention:
Doesn’t matter there’s nothing beyond the City save the automated colonies that feed it and the empty black.
which could be interpreted a couple different ways, but the most literal being that there really is nothing beyond the city- there are no more habitable planets, & the city has taken over the last planets and is using them for maintaining the city (presumably). which, considering we know that there are many planets and other Things In Space in the mechsverse, probably means that udad is actually the last of the albums to take place, timeline-wise.
the only piece of evidence i could find directly contradicting this is that nastya went Out right before tbi, and was present (though offscreen) during udad. but time travel is an established thing in the mechsverse that we know the mechanisms have access to, so:
yes, udad happened last in linear time, but that doesn’t mean that it happened last in mechs time- in fact, if i were newly immortalized & could travel through time, the last human civilization is probably one of the first places i’d want to go. so the album release order is probably the order that the mechs visited these planets, even if that’s not the order they existed in, like, human history.
anyway! so what order did the albums take place in, then?
i’m gonna go out on a bit of a limb and say that i think tbi actually took place first! i know it’s usually considered to take place last because it was the last album to be released, (+ the thing in out i talked about already). but hear me out!
tbi took place first, after a good portion of, like, other things had already happened. what other things? i don’t know! the mechs probably didn’t write about them because they were actually happy, or unsatisfying, or whatever. so tbi is actually the first step to the destruction of the rest of the universe, and i’ll explain how that might have happened in a moment. (which actually explains why lyf saw notes that the mechs’ technology seems so alien- it was pretty early along in the timeline, compared to the rest of the albums).
so i’m working under the headcanon that the bifrost managed not only to destroy all of the yggdrasil system, but a good portion of the rest of the universe as well. it’s pretty easy to guess how the sudden disappearance of a whole system would lead to people going to investigate, which would lead to more people getting killed by the Rainbow Shit, and if anyone survived they’d probably bring bits of the Rainbow Shit back to their home planets, ect, ect. (also, not to delve too far into forbidden lore, but the void spreads.) so, the bifrost probably wiped out most of the civilizations in the universe.
but a few planets/systems survive- ones far enough away that they weren’t immediately affected, and were able to get word that Maybe Investigating This Is Not The Best Plan. which brings us to ouatis, which i think happened sometime after tbi (possibly around the same time or after as hnoc- i’m putting it first for organizational purposes, but it could go either way).
so the system from ouatis survives, & this is probably how old king cole was able to establish himself as an immortal tyrant, since there was a sudden lack of other governments to keep him in check/send support to citizens starting an uprising. this basically leaves old king cole free to colonize a good portion of the planets that weren’t destroyed by the bifrost. presumably the government collapes after king cole dies, (to quote the fiction, it most likely suffered ‘the most horrendous power vacuum and subsequent bloodshed the universe has ever seen’ which probably killed a good amount of the remaining citizens) and that’s another mass civilization down! fun times.
which actually ties very neatly into alice. it’s unlikely that the ouatis system (does it have a name? i can’t keep calling it the ouatis system i can’t) was able to completely escape the horrors of the bifrost, and might still have some residual effects in the areas that the void touched. the planet/moon from alice was probably an area heavily touched by the void, which might be why it’s Like That.
and then we get to hnoc, which, again, could have happened at any time around when ouatis was taking place. we know that they were never able to finish building the station, & that contact with the outside world was abruptly cut off in holder of the grail. so it’s not unlikely that the civilization, or at least part of it, was killed by the bifrost. (i mean, the other option is that they just, like, got bored with the station and ghosted an entire colony). the station survived due to previously mentioned lack of contact with the outside world, although this doesn’t last long.
which brings us to udad! unlike fort galfridian, i don’t think it was completely cut off from the rest of the universe- just far enough away, or relatively untouched, enough that it was still habitable. which is probably why it got so crowded- so many people were moving there after their home got destroyed by cosmic horror rainbows. there’s also something to be said about the fact that the city is modeled after the ‘roaring twenties,’ which was a time of innovation and celebration after recovering from disaster, but that might be reading too far into it.
but, while the city was mostly sheltered from the bifrost attack, it probably was still at least slightly touched by bifrost, similar to alice. which might be how we get things like orpheus being able to see the future in his dreams. hm! sounds familiar! it’s almost like someone else also apparently saw the future in their dreams and was connected to the void!
[ODIN] When I first built this train, this snaking engine of change, I could not have guessed that this is where the songs I dreamt of would lead.
haha. yep.
also, taking the epilogue into account and how ashes burned down the acheron, effectively killing the last life in the universe... and how they died at the very end of the universe, briefly the brightest thing in the universe... well. i’m not saying that when ashes died they were cast back forward to when they burned down the acheron for the first time but maybe that’s what i’m saying.
so, to recap: during the bifrost incident, the void leaks through into our world and destroys most of it. fort galfridian and king cole’s empire are some of the few surviors, due to lack of contact, although king cole couldn’t completely escape the bifrost. both of these civilizations fall, leaving the city as the only habitable place left, although also slightly touched by the bifrost. the city also eventually falls into ruin, and with it, the last humans in the known universe. and that’s how the world ends, i guess! woo.
again, don’t take this as canon or whatever- i’m just taking the vague scraps that the canon did give us and turning it into a story that makes sense, at least from my perspective. so, yeah!

Since I'm currently writing about Scuzz here are some headcanons.
She's small, like barely 5' and petite. She lives up to the terrifying short person trope.
She only spoke pure Japanese when Jonny was in ear shot, just to fuck with him.
Her mechanism was her left leg, and it has an intricate dragon engraving that she asked Ashes to do for her.
Speaking of Ashes, the two of them were super close before Scuzz left. Ashes tried to convince her to stay, but Scuzz had made up her mind.
Nastya was her second favorite, Jonny was her least.
Scuzz looked up to Carmilla once. Even helped in the lab more often than the others, but things started to change after Brian was brought on board.
She left before Tim was mechanized, so she has no idea of his or Raphaela and Marius' existence. Nor does she know that Nastya went Out.
She was raised and trained by a group of mercenaries. As a final test and initiation they removed the strongest limb to keep their members 'humble' Scuzz lost her left arm to that right. Had it replaced with a beautiful porcelaine and clockwork prosthetic. This was before her mechanization.
Nastya was the one to teach her to play the cello.
Scuzz uses she/they pronouns on the exact opposite side of the gender scale of Lyfrassir who uses they/he pronouns
Now I have two contradictory storylines, One is that Scuzz comes back but it's after the others are long gone, leaving her alone for the rest of time. Two is what I'm currently writing, where she gets picked up by another group of immortals and eventually finds the rest of the mechs.
So here you go. Feel free to add on

on aurora
aurora! she’s 1. the love of my life 2. incredible i care her and finally 3. all her lore is a mess. recently, i’ve been bothered by the lack of aurora-centric fics- there’s a few, but they’re all nastyaurora- but i’ve realized that’s not really a fault of the fandom! aurora is difficult to write and hard to learn things about! so, i’ve decided to make this meta on her!
it has two sections; history, which is more lore-focused red stringing, and characterization, which gathers some of her canon thoughts and reactions on things in an attempt to help people write her.
a large amount of this is based on things maki has said on the discord, which are both partially secret and of dubious canonicity, so please keep that in mind! (and assume that when a source is not cited, that is the reason).
in addition, i have written the aurora’s wiki page, which includes a list of physical features! this is helpful for anything set onboard.
history
terra
aurora was born as a moon! moons being weaponized is apparently a thing that happens, so that’s likely how she’s a ship now, but the physics of all this are very strange. she seems to have grown up in the same way as a human, meeting carmilla as a baby and jonny and nastya when she was older. importantly, she was sentient as a moon, and this is before she had any sort of programmed ai! she wasn’t capable of speaking at that point, but that may have just been because of her very young age.
aurora and dr carmilla have known each other for a very long time. extrapolating from things maki has said, we can assume that aurora was a moon of terra, carmilla’s home planet. maki has implied in the discord that 1. terra used to have two moons and 2. carmilla blew the other one up; that, combined with ‘i raised an orphan’ and a few other messages, could suggest that carmilla did the moon equivalent of killing aurora’s parent. perhaps because of this, carmilla took it upon herself to raise aurora. however, aurora is not a mechanism. as a alternative theory (though not a mutually exclusive one) there are a few messages about carmilla ‘creating life’ in discussions of aurora; we know carmilla didn’t assist with aurora’s birth, but it’s possible, as they are moons, that rather than already being there aurora was created from one of the fragments of the moon carmilla destroyed.
cyberia
we don’t know what happened between aurora and carmilla that made them separate, or how aurora ended up in cyberia; however, we know quite a lot about what happened there.
a large amount of it can be found in the fiction ‘the ghost in the machine’. the first thing there that i will address is that aurora’s sentience was actively inhibited rather than increased by her programming. as noted above, we know she was sentient as a moon, and the fiction repeatedly pushed that cyberia did not have fully fledged artificial intelligences, or if they did did not treat them as people. she is also said to have ‘hard-coded inorganic response patterns‘ coded into her, which are likely things similar to the toy soldier’s compulsion to follow orders. needless to say, that was most likely not a good situation for her to be in. it’s difficult to speak on this without getting too far into my headcanons, but my thoughts are that she was very dehumanized, most likely turned into a warship against her will, and the one person who cared a small bit more about her only did so as a project/experiment, which is equally as bad.
speaking of which, let’s discuss that! we meet aurora’s programmer, specialist 278 tereshkova, in ghost in the machine, where her distress call serves as the titular ghost. (i’m not going to summarize the actual fiction- it’s 1152 words and quite well written, if you want to read it!) the one direct line we have about her relationship with aurora is this- ‘[Aurora’s] software engineers never needed art either, although Specialist 278 Tereshkova thought of programming like lacework.‘, which suggests that 1. tereshkova had a bit more focus/care on aurora specifically but 2. still viewed her in a dehumanizing lens and likely contributed to aurora’s suffering. this is supported by the fact that aurora did not talk about her or attempt to help her when she was dying on the ship.
we actually have a large amount of information about who tereshkova was as a person! this is because she coded the mechanisms’ blog, (as in specifically, the wordpress one with posts archived on their website) and in a way that makes her personality show. well, what is her personality, you may ask? ...incredibly passive-aggressive and annoying. it’s so funny i love it. (’tales of the blogbot’) (sample blog post). we know the mechs are able to reprogram it, though with difficulty (1 / 2), and nastya actually mentions communicating with it (x), which goes unaddressed.
joining the mechanisms
moving on: when jonny and carmilla go to cyberia, carmilla tasks him with stealing aurora. (’how the aurora was won’). this could be because carmilla recognizes aurora; in fact, getting her back could have been the entire reason why they went to cyberia in the first place, with nastya being a bonus.
the aurora is most likely based upon the historical ship of the same name. (wikipedia). said ship fired the first shot of the october revolution, signalling the assault on the winter palace. this is the revolution nastya died in (both historical anastasia and mechs nastya, though i’m referring to the latter here). this suggests, because jonny stole her from the cyberian navy rather than revolutionists, that jonny and/or carmilla decided to fight in the revolution. this ties in with the theory that carmilla was purposefully sabotaging the mechanisms’ past lives (i have not written on this and do not plan to, but it’s a fairly common one) or it could also be viewed as several other things, including them just finding it a fun idea. this is contradicted by ghost in the machine, in which tereshkova says that an already supposed-to-be dead nastya was one of the people boarding the ship- however, that bit of ghost in the machine does not line up with any of the other canon.
characterization
any attempt to tell people how to write her is obviously going to be dependent on my own personal views and headcanons, but i’ve tried to compile as much canon as possible to let people make their own decisions.
in ‘the aurora strikes’, aurora is the one who advocates for the mechanisms to help briar rose. there’s an additional line in ouat(is) live, ‘she cannot bear to see another biomechanical organism in pain’, that points to her being sympathetic towards briar rose, and/or having high empathy. (it’s important to note here that empathy and sympathy are not synonyms- empathy is literally feeling someone else’s emotions to some degree, and so aurora having high empathy would be a slightly more literal take on that line). either way, she makes the mechanisms help briar rose, pointing to her being more compassionate/having more morals than most of the other mechanisms.
the fiction ‘a bedtime story’ is the one with the largest amount of dialogue from aurora. the main thing we can learn about her character here, besides the physical features of the ship, is what her speech patterns are like. they’re a bit strange, and read very much like an ai is speaking. in addition, we know aurora is comfortable enough around nastya to let nastya edit her programming, which given the cyberia section above could definitely be interpreted as a big deal.
this facebook post is interesting, because in the comments we learn aurora’s reaction to nastya leaving to destroy cyberia. (if you didn’t know about that bit of nastya’s story, ‘drive the cold winter away’ is here and ‘cyberian demons’ is here.) we don’t know if aurora was aware of nastya’s plan, though she likely was, but either way, her response was to become quiet and stay very cagey about it.
edit: a few small points i forgot! aurora has a voice + can communicate with the crew beyond nastya (ghost in the machine) and apparently has the same amount/brand of chaos as nastya (discord messages).
there isn’t too much else on what aurora’s like, given that she’s not an actual band member, but these three things are a good starting point. i could find a few more, but at that point it would just be a compilation of links to very minor mentions or bits of dialogue that don’t give very much of an actual insight to aurora’s character.
thank you for reading! aurora is one of my favorite characters and i hope to see more fic about her in the future!

Jonny and Tim octokittens?
Hehehehe get ready >:)
So. Jonny hasn't claimed any of the kittens, but there's one that follows him around, a silver and gold one with at least one extra eye that he calls Fucker (also called Sir Fuckington by Tim and The Silver King by Nastya). Jonny is absolutely Fucker's role model, and the kitten likes to copy him, imitating his mannerisms (which is something the rest of the crew finds endlessly hilarious). Jonny keeps trying to get rid of him, but Sir Fuckington is a stubborn little beast and refuses to back down (Jonny once tossed him out of an airlock. He reappeared the next day and no one knows how. This just made Jonny even more determined to get rid of him)
Tim occasionally steals some of Jonny's belts and gives them to Fucker, who uses them to make a nest.
Tim has three octokittens, whom he considers his sons. I actually kind of have a headcanon that Tim's always kind of wanted kids, but when he was mechanized that notion just kind of went down the drain, so he has the kittens instead. They are:
Tim Jr., whose full name is Timothy No. He is named this because Tim was having trouble coming up with something to call him, and just kept throwing out the absolute WORST name ideas, to which everyone else reacted by yelling “TIMOTHY NO”. After ages of this repeating again and again, that phrase ended up being said so often around the kitten that it became his name. They call him Tim Jr. His middle name is Bertram (I wonder who that could be after). He is lime green with yellow polka dots, and he only has one eye (like a cyclops, not like he lost one or anything). He has a tendency to steal things and hoard them under Tim’s bed, and Tim has lost endless pairs of goggles to him. He’s also the most fashionable octokitten, as Tim made him a full outfit complete with waistcoat, bow tie, and mini pocket watch.
Jonny-Cat is Tim’s eldest son (aka the first one he adopted). He was given his name because when Tim found him, the first thing Jonny-Cat did was bite him and then immediately demand cuddles, which made Tim look at Jonny and just go “kind of reminds me of you” to which Jonny of course went “tim no” to which Tim of course went “tim yes” and Jonny-Cat the kitten became. He is blue and naturally glittery, with a little white heart on his chest. Two of his tentacles are deformed and misshapen, so he moves kind of awkwardly. But he is very affectionate to everyone around him, although is easily scared by loud noises and strong emotions. He has tiny belts on each of his tentacles, because Tim thinks its hilarious and Jonny hates it.
And last but certainly, never ever least, there is A Better Captain Than Jonny Would Ever Be (Cap).
Cap is dark brown with light green stripes and green-and-pink tentacles. He also, after an incident with Raph, has a pair of purple-black bat’s wings grafted onto his back (Raphaella is not allowed near the kittens anymore). Cap has always been skittish and anxious of everything and everyone, so of course when he was gifted with two new appendages he didn’t know how to control, that just got worse. He wouldn’t leave Tim’s side for so long afterward, Tim started to get scared he would never be okay again. But he got over it, and is now a master of flight. He has been trained to dive-bomb Jonny whenever he sees him, which just adds insult to injury as Jonny is already biased against him because of his name. (”a disgusting lie”). Cap has a tiny pair of goggles that Tim found for him, and he treasures them dearly. He’s also extremely hyperactive, like his Mama Tim (what Tim calls himself in regard to the kittens), which spells doom for the rest of the crew.
Jonny shares custody of the D’Ville-Tim boys (Tim’s kittens) He did not have a say in this.

Mortal college mechs AU headcanons
I gonna upload these every time i post a quiz. Yesterday I posted one about a mechs college mortal AU, so here they are.
1. Jonny has falled out of the window many times
This is purely based off his energy. He is roommates with the others (they rent an appartment together, bc cheaper and vibes) and they live on the second floor above the trash. Jonny is irritating and likes to dramatically play his harmonica in the windowstill in the middle of the night, so to get him to stop, some will just push him and he will fall. This has somehow not dettered him at all
2. Nastya fooled many people into thinking she can’t speak English
Nastya does not like other people, she doesn't like talking to people even more. So, she faked being unable to speak English. If people believe it then that's their problem for being dumb, not hers. She is just avoiding contact with as many people as possible. Jonny believed it for a week and she managed to fool Tim for a month
3. Ashes is part of the fire department
You know how you can part-time fire-fighter? I know that in big cities that is not really the case, but just imagine. Ashes will be a fire-fighter, because 1) fire and 2) fire-fighter hot. They have persmission to leave classes should an emergency arrive and are also the only one of the mechs with a drivers lience. Because they usually use their driving skills for emergencies, they are not good and it is terrifying every time
4. Ivy holds sleep overs in the uni’s library
Ivy works in the uni's library, she loves her job a lot and hates when the others come in, even if they really just need books for an assignment, because it usually means trouble. However, she regularly offers to close, only to stay way too late and decide to sleep between the books. The others know this and will sometimes pass by right before closing and either stay with her or drag her to her dorm (and later their shared appartment)
5. Brian gave two professors an existential crisis
He is a philosophy major and the very first day of class they were having a fun, introduction-type, philosophical discussion. Brian gave his professor an existential crisis and the professor in question asked someone else to grade his frist essay, which would be about the discussion. That professor suffered a similar fate. Brian is known for this and feels bad about it, the other however find it hilarious
6. Everyone mistakes TS for a professor
TS is a helper and overdresser for simple situations, meaning that it will get mistaken for a professor by the newer students as well as some of the sleep deprived older ones. This has happened so many times that it usually knows the answers to the questions it is asked, which only leads to more misunderstandings. It lives for the chaos it causes
7. No one believed Tim has a boyfriend
Bertie is studying in America, meaning none of the others have met him and they do not believe Tim when he talks about Bertie. Technically Jonny and TS have met Bertie, but both pretend not to in order to frustrate Tim more. The others caught on eventually, but have collectively decided not to tell Tim, who is losing his mind over the fact that they still don't believe him after multiple videocalls with Bertie
8. Marius got to know the others through a lie
Marius is not a doctor, Marius did tell Jonny he was one when the other felt not so great. After a closer look, a confession of the lie and a black eye, Jonny had stormed off to complain about Marius to the others. The others found this hilarious and immediately went to find Marius to befriend him. Jonny is still mad and the tale gets told at every party
9. Raphaella is not allowed without supervision
After one month the university declared that Raphaella should not, under ANY circumstance, be left in a lab without supervision from someone responsible (read other mechs for example are out off the question). On a completely totally not related note (/s), she has a lot of debt relating to replacing exploded or otherwise destroyed lab equipment

i ask this every few days but umm,, what r ur saddest mechs hcs???????
🥺 Sad times time...
Every year around the time Bertie died in the Moon War, Tim gets sad. Unfortunately, the Mechs have no concept of therapy, so Tim has no idea why he randomly gets Mega Depressed every year. He's known to cry during these times, but he doesn't want the other Mechs to see because he can't explain himself, so he'll just run out of the room really fast and be Gone for a while.
Marius never quite got out of the habit of rationing his food like he had to on his home planet. Logically, he knew he didn't have to worry about when his next meal would be, but some part of him couldn't ever really let go of the idea he may wind up in that situation again.
TS acts like it doesn't mind the jokes about it not being a real person, and even plays along when the other Mechs make them, but it secretly worries the reason they treat it so disposably is because they really do think it's not real and they simply don't care about it. It never says anything, though, because it really doesn't want to deal with the possibility that they might inform it that they really don't think it's real.
As much as Ashes loves fire, as much as it can't kill them in any way that matters anymore (for the most part), Ashes still has nightmares every so often. They're twenty three again, and it's so unbearably hot, and every breath they take chokes them further. All they hear is Mickey's unhinged laughter as they slowly and painfully fade out of existence. They wake up tasting smoke, drenched in sweat, and panicked in a way that's always hard to shake off.
Brian has died a lot of ways, but he still holds his original death to be the worst. He hates the cold because of it. Sometimes, after a particularly violent stop on another planet, his sensory processors get a bit messed up. He stops being able to feel things physically as much, and he still hasn't been able to work out the kink in his brain that interprets that as "You're freezing again. You're going to die like this. You'll freeze to death and no one is coming to save you." He sets his temperature regulators as high as they'll go, and makes a mental note to get in the workshop as soon as he can.
After the Mechs all went Out like Nastya, Aurora drifted alone until she broke down so much that she couldn't control her own flight. She would play back recordings she had from when the Mechs were still there until eventually, she didn't have enough room to store all the data and it began to break down. Her memory became corrupted after that, and she began to forget things, like why her crew was gone in the first place. By the time she finally died out completely, she was convinced (based on what data she still had left) that they'd be back soon. In a way, she died happy like that, since she no longer was aware that her crew had left her for good.
BIG OOF for all these headcanons...

asking again just in case I didn't click anon when I requested the first time. but ashes o’reilly hcs?
(also I think you can ‘do not archive’ tag it if you don't want jonny seeing)
Tumblr media
Regressor Ashes O'reilly Headcanons!
ashes regresses usually to older kid ages! usually around 6-10!! they like to think they're a very independent kiddo (but sometimes that just doesn't work out)
they like to at least try doing everything at least once (i wanna cook! i wanna pour the juice!) but there are some things they're not allowed to do (these were set by brian, who got very tired of ashes sneaking into the pilot area and sending them off course towards whatever planet caught ashes' attention)
ashes doesn't have a main cg because they try so hard to be independent, but a lot of times if they do need help they'll run to brian or nastya or maybe - MAYBE - jonny
jonny however is then supposed to find literally anyone else. because the two of them without big-ashes' ever so slight filter will actually lead to them burning down the ship
"jonny i need help!!" "sure kiddo what's up??" "marius says no ice cream i wanna take his kneecaps" "say no more, i've got the perfect idea!"
ashes is generally a picky kid, and they just really love sweets. this of course leads to difficult meals because if allowed, they would just survive off of chocolate cereal and cake. this is not allowed. this leads to tantrums
jonny then comes in and gives them cake. because he would rather be on ashes' good side
they aren't allowed to smoke when they're regressed, because the one time they let ashes smoke when regressed they set fire to a sofa (accidentally (as far as anyone should be concerned))
instead, ashes runs around with a toy cigar that lights up on the end. they go through so many of those things because while you're not supposed to chew on them, ashes 100% does
hide-and-seek with toy soldier. hide-and-seek with toy soldier!!!
if anyone else is regressed on the ship, usually ashes takes on a big sib persona and they help take care of the other small mech, but they still demand their own attention and will often get the other regressor involved in whatever scheme game they've come up with
when they're on the younger end of their regression, ashes does tend to carry around a blankie they have. its a baby quilt, and its very worn out, but they need it around. its their biggest comfort item
storytime with ivy. storytime with ivy!!!
they love playing card games, and at first jonny thought he'd have to let them win, so he went easy on them. turns out, as a kiddo, ashes is a huge cheat and very, very good at card games. jonny doesn't have to let them win, ashes has to let him win. tim makes fun of him for this, which always makes ashes laugh
okie i think thats all ive got in my head aodjfjakzjrjgja ive got thoughts on who in the mechs would regress/be a flip/be a cg and ashes is firmly in the flip category

Jonny d'ville and mike crew?
Jonny "Belt Crimes” D’ville
Sexuality Headcanon: Omniromantic apothiosexual!
Gender Headcanon: Trans male (he/him)
A ship I have with said character: N....No? No???? I cannot process--- You mean he stopped committing crimes long enough to find someone he cared about???? Ha-
A BROTP I have with said character: He found Tim floating among the moon wreckage and just kinda went “Ha, kinda cool, be my brother now”
A NOTP I have with said character: He and Nastya like please no---
A random headcanon: He’s never seen a horse in person. He’s just so distraught over the other Mechs never having seen a horse because he watched Spirit as a kid and fell in love with the movie.
General Opinion over said character: What a funky lil New Texan!
Mike Crew, My Beloved!!
Sexuality Headcanon: Demiromantic and gayer than hell, this man swoons over bears
Gender Headcanon: H... He/They Mike...
A ship I have with said character: Mike and Gerry Keay
A BROTP I have with said character: Mike and Melanie bond because Mike unironically thought Ghost Hunt UK was neat. They started chatting and hanging out after he realized who she was.
A NOTP I have with said character: Mike Blue Flavor (vast) and Mike Pink Flavor (spiral)
A random headcanon: He’s actually a very big fan of horror movies but he gets scared after watching them
General Opinion over said character: Please I just love him so much /p
Thanks for the ask!!

do you ever feel weird when you see like mechanisms ship art? in general but especially of ivy and marius!
I find it weird when I see ship art of Ivy but largely because I think of Ivy as aroace, not because she's played by my brother. so that's a Headcanon Thing
(I actually talked to Morgan a while back about whether he found it weird that ship art of Ivy and Raphaella was floating around Twitter and he just shrugged and went 'I've been in fandom for nearly 20 years [this is a lie it's more like 16], it's all fair game and I really don't mind, I just don't look at it and let them get on with it.' Then we chatted for a while about how he saw Ivy's orientation as aro and possibly ace, but that he considered that to be a headcanon and reckoned that death of the author etc)
Other than that it's mostly like... I'm less weirded out by the shipping itself than, again, just the whole "the fandom is big enough and detached enough from the band's immediate social circle for shipping to be Not Weird" thing. it's a big change over a few years, when I was in the fandom we were mostly like "we will ship everyone who is not Played By Two People We Know because that comes with weird baggage" but there's not like.....anything particularly weird about shipping Mechs together, it's just that being friends with the band, particularly knowing a lot of them through their band activities, makes the line between character and person a little fuzzy, so I personally don't ship any Mechs.
honestly I love when people ship Marius though because it's very funny to me. Marius is such a horrible goblin man I would not date Marius. oh the capering. oh the goblin grin. the TF2 Medic accent. one time on a date Kofi turned around unexpectedly and started doing the Marius bit and I feel immediately off the sofa laughing. there are no blurred lines for me with Marius and Kofi, Marius is DEFINITELY a different person so yeah again any weirdness I feel about shipping him is less how I relate to him as A Character My Boyfriend Plays and more about how I relate to him as A Character Who Is Fun And Awful.
There are people who for me the line is very clear between the Mechanism and the person (Marius, Raphaella) and people where they're a lot more similar to the character so it's a bit fuzzier (Nastya, the Toy Soldier)
Obviously over time those lines move. like, Morgan is a buff angry man and Ivy is a quiet sarcastic woman so while they were not dissimilar when the character was created, they're now different enough that I don't look at Ivy and go "that is my sibling." similarly Jonny Sims is a lot less D'Villey than he was when I met him and a lot more like an actual human adult (which is very, very weird). And the characters themselves develop away from the performers, it's a whole tangle of signifiers and so on.
I will say there is one thing I do feel weird about as a person who knows the performers, and that's ships that run VERY counter to how the performers actually act/interact. I'm not gonna give examples because privacy is a thing, but there are characters who I often see shipped whose performers either don't get on super well or who have a very platonic sibling-like relationship. so it's a bit weird to see those people shipped. but tbh that's my business and my baggage, again, nothing I'd put on anyone else
Tl;dr: no, not really, no more than I do with any other ship that doesn't work with my readings of the characters.
(if someone shipped Ivy WITH Marius however that might take it a step too far tbh. might have to back slowly away from that one with my hands over my eyes. there are limits to the "actors are not characters" boundaries and that might be it. also I definitely would not want to see nsfw of any of them but look, that's a don't like don't look situation anyway imo)

About the Character: Aryll Lavellan
Eeeee! Thank you so much for the tag @lethendralis-paints! This was so fun! Tagging forward to @elveny, @thesaltyhealer, and @faerieavalon and anyone who wants to play!
If you’ve read any of my fic (especially Into the Imperium), you might notice that my Lavellan is left quite vague, and this is purposeful. Not because I don't have a HC Lavellan, just because I know that you all do as well and I don’t want my HC to get in the way of your own imaginings. But, in case you’re wondering, this Aryll Lavellan, hero of my dreams.
― your muse’s name:  Aryll Lavellan
–– a favorite picture/faceclaim for your muse: A slightly older Cirilla from the Witcher 3: WH. Sketch below by Nastya Drakonoart
Tumblr media
― two headcanons you have for your muse: 1. She’s always felt like an outsider, to the Dalish, the City  Elves, and even at times the Inquisition. She’s spent her life as an ambassador between Clan Lavellan and the outside world, trying to create a world where her people are accepted. Through the Inquisition, she’s tried to expand upon that dream, not just for her own clan, but for all of the misfits of Thedas. 2. She’s prone to bouts of depression and despair, especially since joining the Inquisition, but she tries to suppress it. In her darkest moments, she’s always had a friend nearby to drag her out of it. And for that, she’s eternally grateful.
― three things that your muse likes doing in their free time:
1. Drawing, she’s quite an avid sketch artist (unlike me, heh) 2. Hiking, which is great, because she spends about 75% of her time looking for Elfroot in the Hinterlands, apparently 3. Making “witty” japes, by her own calculation.
― seven people your muse loves/likes: 1. Solas: She immediately connected with the wandering elven mage, despite his initially cruel reaction to her love for the Dalish. Not only did he save her life, but she sensed a kindred spirit--someone who felt outside of the world while simultaneously feeling an incredible responsibility for it. As his views of her people became more nuanced due to her influence, she found herself falling for him, finally discovering the home she had always craved within his embrace. When he left her, she was devastated, confused, and reeling. Having known what it felt to love him, to have a place in the world, made his absence all the more painful. 2. Dorian: Whenever she had a secret, Dorian was the first she would go running to. They would spend hours together, reading, and poking fun at their friends. He kept her from losing herself completely after Corypheus was defeated. She reassured him that he could be a magister without becoming his father.  3. Varric: He was one of the first to truly believe in her and never relented from that belief. He was nearly almost able to make her laugh. When Dorian went back to Minrathous to accept his father’s seat in the Magisterium, Varric was tasked with keeping her smiling. He did his best, which was all that could be asked. 4. Fenris: She has only known Fenris for a short period of time, but she empathized with his broken relationship with Hawke, finding it quite mirrored her own. She wants to help them find their place again. She wishes she could help him with the pain from his past, which clearly still stings. 5. Merrill: Aryll spent most of her time as an adult with people other than her own clan, negotiating treaties and trade deals with others on behalf of her people. To finally be friends with another Dalish woman, especially when those from her inner circle do not always seem approving of her people, has been truly transformative. Merrill keeps her from losing herself as the Inquisitor and the Herald.  6. Cole: She thinks of Cole as both a sage and a younger brother--so wise about parts of the world, but so naive about others. She would shelter him from everything if she could, but knows that he needs to be allowed to experience the world in order to become a part of it. She appreciates that he always speaks truths, even if they may be cryptic. 7. Cassandra: Loving the Seeker was initially quite challenging. Cassandra was always trying to get Aryll to be something she didn’t truly believe in. Over time, they changed each other, making the other woman less set in her ways. Besides, she and Cassandra both share an innate optimism and hopeless romanticism uncommon to warriors.
― a phobia your muse has:  Failure. The stakes of everything she takes on are massive and she is terrified of letting the people she loves, and now the world, down.
