currently TES has been getting the gears going the most, but ER is my perennial love - and once in a blue moon I am compelled to do something TLU! SM is still very dear to my heart but I've been pretty dry on fic inspiration/drive for it for a while now :(

4. What are your top five fics by kudos?

these are ALL OLDER PIECES haha so don't look too closely: it still burns - fluffy OPM piece for Knight c: what else can I say! too cold for you here and now - fluffy little Makoami piece (are you sensing a pattern already...) featuring terrible puns, because I have always loved characters trying to make each other laugh you do it for her (that is to say you do it for him) - another one written for Knight; OPM/SM crossover. with TWO chapters! left, left, left right left - introspective Romano piece re: arm. I actually now disagree with some character choices I made in this one so seeing it still getting attention has me like no... this doesn't represent me... Across the Western Ocean I Must Wander - Makoami pirate AU. also not a oneshot! (shock!) I don't think it holds up as well as I'd like, but the premise still compels me and there's some cute moments :'D still VIVIDLY remember being up late on a class night listening to one song on repeat while working on The Kissing Scene™

almost always! it may take me a bit sometimes, but I do try to make sure I do

frankly idek - being completely honest, "angst" just as a word at this point turns me off so immediately and so hard that I can't engage with the concept that way. I prefer endings with some hope, but I like some emotional complexity too! all my baggage about fandom and "angst" is for. ANOTHER TIME

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

again I'm not totally sure how to answer this one! I guess Ocean? doesn't get much more stereotypically happily-ever-after than "and then they ran away together the end"

8. Do you get hate on fics?

no, thankfully! I've gotten the occasional comment here and there that make me go "??" but more just sort of confusing, not malicious as far as I can tell lol

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

sdlkghlsj sex-repulsed asexual here and not for the first time I say: I am reasonably confident nobody wants me doing that. it can happen but offscreen to spare me the inevitable mortification... fade-to-black is about as far as we go in the House Of Mouse sorry!!

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

I have before! it's not my preferred stomping grounds but I like a good one. I don't know about "craziest" but wouldn't do us any harm I think is probably the funniest of the handful I've shared (again: written primarily for Knight! warning that it is from 2016 LOL)

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

yes! baby Mouse ran a fic awards "show" (in the written medium obviously) with a friend back in like 2010 or 2011 on FFN... it was loads of fun!

just one?? if I have to choose then: Lizzie & the Bald Boys... my little driftwood raft that I've finally convinced a handful of other people aboard c':

15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

Makoami Princess and the Goblin AU :( still means a lot to me but SM just hasn't been where I've been drawn to write for a while!

16. What are your writing strengths?

dialogue + characterization is most often what I get compliments on (<3) - I'd like to think I have a fairly decent hand for little meaningful details too, but I think these more often than not end up just being for my own benefit because I like my symbolism subtle aha

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

LONGFORM... plugging together things into ordered chapters and maintaining momentum over longer spaces is my greatest struggle. I've had to come to terms with the fact that I'm much more a sprinter than a marathon runner, and it's been very freeing letting myself step outside of needing all the surrounding context to just do things as I come to them and then getting to string it all into chronology via series ordering

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

done well I find it really impressive! it's very hard to do well though ahaha.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

without the context of "fandom", the first story I ever wrote was about the Boxcar Children hanging out with me at age 6 (the entirety of chapter three was all of us singing the alphabet together and it was narratively crucial that this happen. for some reason.). with the context of knowing about fandom though, Scooby Doo at 11-12!

20. Favorite fic you've written?

of what's posted: Ocean has a lot of personal meaning because it was the first multichapter piece I was able to finish in several years, but on a technical level I've been really proud of some of the more layered pieces I've been practicing in the last year or so: Thermal Equilibrium and skipping stones I think are good examples of that :')

1. How many works do you have on AO3?

Currently 4, though there should be another arriving before the end of the year

2. What’s your total AO3 word count?

278,494 but with me being the kind of person to not post WIPs, that number is not representative of how many words I've actually written.

I just checked all my docs, and my unpublished WIPs come out to 460 393 words so far (across 4 different long fics and 3 oneshots).

So my actual word count is 738 887. what the fuck. i started writing this year btw (in february i think) so this is probably a sign of something worrying lol

3. What fandoms do you write for?

Harry Potter

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

I only have 4 fics posted but the order is : equals in life, let the light in, love is such a dreadful thing (and dread is so lovely), and to hold your life in my decaying hands

5. Do you respond to comments? Why? Why not?

Yes! I just enjoy interacting with people who took the time to read, enjoy, and comment on my fics. People are generally very nice to me too, so it's always a pleasure to chat.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I don't really do angsty endings lol. I suppose I have to say equals in life bc it's bittersweet? but it's not angsty imo

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

We're gonna have to stray into WIP territory here, but I'm going to have to say If we were lovers; the ending is very sweet

Yes! I've had a few people inquire about translating equals in life and they're always so so lovely and respectful! Thank you to all translators out there!

I have not, no.

14. What’s your all time favourite ship?

If you asked me this last year I would've said Drarry, and my answer would have been the same over the last ten years. However, I have come to favour Tomarry & Harrymort, I sway more closely to Harrymort between the two but not enough for me to give a definitive answer.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

Er, I didn't count this one in my answer to the word count question but I have a tiny bit of it written. It would've been an eighth year Drarry fic where Harry's struggling through the aftermath of losing Voldemort's soul -- it would've been the most Harrymort coded Drarry fic lmao. But I don't think I'll ever finish it, simply bc my other WIPs are a lot more interesting.

16. What are your writing strengths?

I would say dialogue, and I'm quite good at what I call recall, I rarely forget details about my fics so I like sprinkling in recalls to lots of little details previously mentioned, sometimes so small the reader wouldn't be able to pick them up I think.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Action scenes are the bane of my existence. I'm just Not Good at them. The writing doesn't flow, the scene is badly set up, they're just not my thing. I actually have a WIP I started in the hopes of getting better at action scenes haha.

I'm not that good at describing people. With it being fanfiction I just assume people know what they look like, but even if they do, physical descriptions add so much to the fic, and I should do them more often.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I'm guilty of this lol. I like doing it in french bc it's fun, but for another fic I had to sprinkle in some italian (i don't speak italian) and it's just stressful (thankfully my beta does understand italian so they helped me). I try not to do it in languages I don't speak.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

I'm going to say Harry Potter, but I'm not going to check that. I know that when I was younger I wrote quite a bit of fanfic I kept to myself, and I'm fairly certain the first was Harry Potter. But I also know I wrote some other stuff that I will not be disclosing lol

I have to say it, equals in life (partners in death)

But, I'm very fond of this oneshot I wrote: to hold your life in my decaying hands

And my favourite long fic I've written is If we were lovers, which will hopefully be out before the end of the year.

THE ADOPTING OF CHIGIRI WAS SO CUTE TOO I was like omg YES when I read the little interactions and their little moment post ping pong game…also speaking of I had no idea that’s what that was?? Ok I got the ping pong but rhyming?? I’ve somehow never heard of that before nor have I ever tried it with my friends so I was so lost when I first read the manga and Nagi goes orange and I’m like…maybe he’s just a goofy dude who wanted to say orange because it sounds funky so uh. The more you know!

Omg y/n adopting the younger boys with trauma…it’s even funnier to imagine since Rin likes looking out at the sea like imagine y/n is like I’m gonna take a walk by the water! and Karasu begrudgingly is like ok bro…and then bam it’s Rin, idk exactly how it’d go but I just think their affinity of the sea/water would be something they could (mildly) bond over!

IM CRYING THAT REDDIT MEME I remember first seeing that and laughing I felt kinda bad but I can’t with the energy!!

maybe i’ll make a post assigning pokémon teams to the characters even if i don’t write the au as an entire fic 🤔 i feel like pokémon has sm potential to be ANYTHING like angst fluff slice of life romance you really can include it all depending on how you take it and how you interpret the verse. karasu is basically an irl garchomp HAHA it fits too well

nah because justice for anri she should be at the club not doing ego’s dirty laundry /j…fr though i’m glad the author decided not to include more female characters just because based off of some of those anri panels they would NOT be done well and i would rather have no female rep than have it poorly done. i do like all of the mothers/chigiri’s sister!! the mothers especially actually look and feel like parents of teenage boys instead of teenagers themselves which definitely isn’t always the case

karasu has been up to smth for the entire match HAHA and he was even in hiori’s flashback so i think it’s safe to say he’s not going anywhere…i agree and i’m hoping they get rid of the u20 players (except aiku and sendou, p sure they’re staying) so more characters we care about get to stay in the manga!! i’m hoping giving how much emphasis there was on zantetsu in s1 and epinagi he sticks around but it kinda feels like everything he does, chigiri and otoya can do better, so who knows.

NO BECAUSE POOR BESTIE HAS KNOWN FOR SIX YEARS THAT KARASU LIKES Y/N 😭 she watched their banter turn into a relationship, and she sees how well karasu treats y/n once they’re together (he literally buys her flowers like every week 😖)…then she gets to the u-20 match and is HYPE because CEO’s son reo mikage?? standoffish prodigy nagi?? popular sweetheart isagi?? talented loner barou?? time for her to have her OWN kdrama moment. and then every single one of her dreams is destroyed because she’s shipped with otoya who is quite literally her biggest opp because he kept making out w a girl RIGHT in front of her face while she was trying to watch a movie.

i think the best thing about the crane scene is that otoya straight up says he only wins plushies to impress girls but he’s so obviously done w bestie and not at all trying to impress her and she’s also so unimpressed that it averts the cliche romance vibe completely. honestly they don’t give kdrama (bestie will forever be disappointed in that sense) but they have HUGE 2000s romcom vibes to me HAHA

y/n saw rin crash out during the u-20 match and was like oh…this is Not Normal…and as soon as she saw rin on the beach she immediately got to work trying to figure out wtf happened 😭 nah because i’ve always wondered why NOBODY showed any concern for rin after the match like he was clearly going through smth?? but if it leads to a goal ig it’s all good 😓

my writing process depends!! but typically i type out the outline of a fic/write out certain scenes, then fill in everything around that ahaha. usually my ideas come from a line i thought up that i really like or just a concept. i usually also type out my plans in all caps LOL. i hope that makes sense lmaooo how about you? do you just go for it or plan everything out first?

you’re right bestie, english is not my first language and i love when people come here and ask me for advice or just talk about it because we need more people from other places writing!!! such a beautiful thing. so you’re not bothering me at all!!!!! ask me whatever you want.

i’m gonna give you some advice based on the things that i do or that work for me, so try this and let me know if it helps you!! i would love to know.

first, writing in english is a long journey! you have to be patient and let yourself make mistakes, don’t put yourself down if you can’t phrase something correctly. writing itself is hard no matter the language you do it. so, obviously if you do it in a language that’s not your native, it’s gonna be harder. but once you get used to it after practicing it’s comes as easy as in your native language! i started writing in english here on tumblr a year ago, and when i go back (to the fics i even posted months after starting) i go “ew” so this proves that you have to trust the process!

even if you’re not confident enough in your english, go at it!!!! start writing. even if it’s the worst writing you’ve ever done, do it!!!!! it doesn’t matter. you can correct everything later and with that, remember your mistakes and change them the next time!!!!

google translate is going to be your best friend at the beginning! use it (i even use it now but way back i used to have it open as i wrote) you can then change the way google gives it to so it can be more ‘fanfic’ like. or (this is what i usually do now) if you’re thinking of something that you want to write but it doesn’t come to you in english, think of a way to phrase differently. move on! don’t get stuck in a phrase, another phrase is in there and it’s gonna give you a more natural paragraph and the rest is history.

sometimes when i know a word but i want to phrase it differently, i search synonyms and i choose the one that looks more formal lol. it makes you sound more advanced! and it’s a great way of learning new words for the future!

listen to people!!!!! your favorite actors, characters, singers, anyone!!! listening helps you not only with your writing and how to sound more natural (in conversations also) but it also helps with your english in real life!!

about the describing feelings, one of the things that i do all the time, (i even did it way back when i didn’t write fanfics) is write my feelings in english. when i feel sad, disappointed, angry, or even happy because something good happened i write it down. that helps me a lot when it comes to writing what a character is feeling. being able to identify how someone is feeling makes it easier when you write it down. ask yourself: how does the character feel right now? how is this conversation/situation making them feel? how does this other person make them feel? doesn’t matter if it’s just “sad”, first, allow yourself to be messy and then after you have a direction to go to, go deeper. how’s their heart? body language? what are they thinking?

READING. READING HELPS A LOT.

MUSIC. that too <- because this helps with the describing feelings too. lyrics sometimes are basically how the writer is feeling. i don’t know how to explain this to be honest, but learning the lyrics of your favorite songs will help you. trust me.

YOUR IMAGINATION!!!!!!!!!!!

-> this is my favorite thing about me and my writing. while i write i think of the scenes or the places in my head like a movie. first (when i’m organising the chapter or just the scene) then, again, when i sit down and i write the chapter/fic. it helps A LOT with the whole description part. (i’m an actor so my imagination is a big part of my every day so that’s why is easy for me to use it, so if you want to become better at describing put it to work!!) it’s gonna be so much easier for you to put down the words, no matter the language!

talk to yourself! i have conversations with my self in english ALL THE TIME! say something, then imagine what the other could say (it could be your fav character) and then respond! cooking? yeah but i’m also fighting with the love of my life because he didn’t complimented my hair. (the stupidest thing ever but HEY IT HELPS WITH WRITING CONVERSATIONS!!) or maybe stop writing, put yourself in the character’s shoes and start talking to yourself like you are in the scene, and see what comes to your mind then! (i swear sometimes i look like the craziest person when i write) if conversations give you a hard time, don’t worry about writing descriptions at the beginning. go to the notes of your phone and then write ONLY the conversation, not having to think of anything else but the conversation it helps sometimes. CONVERSATIONS ALSO HAVE TO DO WITH THE WAY CHARACTERS ARE FEELING. don’t forget that!!!!

the most important is: let yourself fall into the story, scene of moment. don’t think too much. if it’s bad, who cares? it’s your writing, you can do whatever you want with it. just let yourself be in your writing, what you want the reader to feel, see and read. once you allow yourself the conversation, descriptions, anything will come to you so naturally that you’re going to forget your writing for a moment.
