Oh!!! I had a thought!!! In the coffin prayer fic- it isn't just Hua Cheng's prayers that Xie Lian can hear, is it??? I mean, he's obviously most of what Xie Lian would hear, but- what about the random of believer??? Maybe Feng Xin or Mu Qing praying to him by old reflex on rare occasions? People he might have helped or saved who thought he was a god in disguise and directed prayers his way? People from Lang'an Bay (I think it was) or remnants of Xianle? Even just one or two people - wouldn't it be possible??
those would be some really cool ideas to explore! i dont plan on incorporating people other than Hua Cheng praying to Xie Lian in the Coffin Prayer AU for two reasons- one, it broadens the focus of the fic more than i intended to pull other people into the story, even if only in passing. i have an issue with my WIPs exploding into fic far longer than intended already, and this would just be asking for it. two, you touch on a really interesting aspect of canon, which is how prayers work! specifically, under what circumstances can a god receive prayers? can they just be directed at the person, or do you need some sort of idol or focus for your prayer to get through? it's unclear from canon. for this fic, i guess i'm following the same idea that dearly departed uses- that you need something that represents the person to successfully pray to them. i've seen some neat fic that have a less strict stance on prayers, but, i dunno, it's just how i'm inclined to write it.
#annaisu#in reality i would bet that having an idol makes it easier for gods to hear prayers#but that they arent strictly necessary#this allows for response during emergencies potentially#tgcf#coffin prayer au#illuanswers#id never actually thought too much about my reasoning and opinions beforehand

Following the final moments of Erwin’s abduction, Jill Smith ordered an immediate halt to all live media coverage.
Desert CAHR Productions was granted special permission to film on the rooftop during this critical moment.
Jill Smith, her security, and the members of the SWAT team do their very best to be respectful, allowing Coraleye the space to process her shock, while also keeping their weapons drawn and remaining vigilant for any signs of returning spacecraft or any other potential threats. Tycho pushes through the crowd to reach Coraleye, who is collapsed in despair on the ground, wailing incoherent sobs toward the sky. Only barely cushioned by mascara-stained gloves, her clenched fists pound relentlessly against the cement. Tycho grasps her wrists firmly, desperate to pull her back from her anguish.
Tycho: Coraleye! Please, stop! You’re going to hurt yourself! Are you okay? Are you hurt? Talk to me, baby, please!
He cradles her face in his hands, smudged with mascara and tears. She locks her gaze onto his, searching deeply into his eyes—into his soul, really—her voice emerging in a guttural growl that shakes him to his core.
Coraleye: DO SOMETHING.
More than a plea, she demands it, her voice raw.
Coraleye: Let go of me, and fucking— [attempts to yank her arm away from his grip] —do something to HELP HIM. QUICKLY!
He freezes. This is it—his only chance. With a grand audience and everything being filmed, there’s no way to erase anyone's memory. There’s no backing out now. He takes a deep breath.
Tycho: Listen to me! Fuck, honey— I never imagined I'd be telling you this surrounded by guns and cameras and helicopters. I... I don't really know how I'm going to say it, so I'll just come out with it. Coraleye: Just say it, Tycho. Tycho: I am, I promise. Just… please don’t rush me. He’s gone. Erwin is gone. [Breath hitches as he watches her furiously shake her head in denial] For good. There’s nothing anyone can do to save him, alright? And I’m so, so sorry.
Coraleye: No, no, NO! Why? Why would you say that, Tycho? Tycho: Darling, there’s something I need to tell you.. There’s a reason I know—[voice cracks]—that he won’t be coming back.
Coraleye: Stop! Just stop! We don’t have time for this! [Voice cracks, sobs tear from her throat] You and I both know you could have done something to stop this from happening... I know exactly who you are, Tycho. Tycho goes still, his body rigid with disbelief as he tries to discern whether the words she just uttered were reality or a demented figment of his imagination.
Tycho: W-what? What did you just say? I don't understand. Coraleye, what are you saying? Seeing her shaking uncontrollably, Tycho instinctively reaches for her hands, but she shoves them away. After a deep breath, she speaks, her voice unnervingly calm compared to the turmoil displayed moments before.
Coraleye: Did you really think you were erasing my mind all this time, Tycho? A skilled spellcrafter? You never once considered I’d have taken precautions to protect myself? Like, I don't know, maybe a spell to keep my mind from being fucked with—really, Tycho? Tycho's mind goes blank, and he lost the ability to swallow. Sirens can be heard in the distance of the bustling city; for a split second he wonders if they could be coming for him. Tycho finally chokes out a response. Tycho: How long... Coraleye’s silence is deafening. She doesn’t respond with words, only a piercing glare, her eyes burning through his. Tycho: Don't tell me...You knew the whole fucking time, didn't you?

•Data Analytics: Utilizes algorithms to process biosensor data, providing insights on viral dynamics and trends.
•Alerts and Notifications: Real-time alerts sent to the user or healthcare provider when viral load exceeds predetermined thresholds.
•Communication System: Integrated with a communicator on the wrist, the arm serves as a reliable device for maintaining contact with his team. This system includes encrypted channels for secure communication during high-stakes operations.
•Objective Management Display: The arm features a holographic display that provides a detailed version of the communicator’s data, allowing Piers to view mission objectives and tactical data in real-time. This feature minimizes the need for external devices and keeps critical information accessible.
Augmented Reality (AR) Compatibility
•Enhanced Visualization: The arm’s display projects augmented reality overlays, allowing Piers to see additional information, such as enemy positions, weapon stats, or tactical directions, directly in his line of sight.
•Environmental Scanning: The arm can analyze the surroundings for potential threats, detect biological or chemical hazards, and provide alerts for safer navigation through hostile environments.
Electricity Conduction and Control
•Energy Conduit Design: The bionic arm acts as a conductor for the constant electrical energy generated by Piers’ mutation. It includes specialized channels and circuits designed to manage this energy flow, allowing Piers to use his mutation’s electrical pulse without it spiraling out of control.
•Dielectric Structures: The arm’s design incorporates materials that mimic the dielectric properties of his mutated tissue, particularly in the finger joints and bones. These dielectric components help regulate and contain the high voltage his body produces, diffusing excess energy safely throughout the arm.
•Controlled Release Mechanism: To avoid overload, the arm features a controlled release system that allows Piers to release pulses of energy strategically, whether in combat or to alleviate the internal buildup. This system prevents the arm from overheating or sustaining damage from prolonged electrical activity.
Containment and Compression of the Mutation
•Compression Framework: The prosthetic was specially designed by UMBRELLA engineers to act as a containment “net” around his mutation. It includes a flexible, reinforced framework that compresses the mutated tissue, keeping it in check and preventing further growth or erratic shifts in form.
•Adaptive Pressure System: As the mutation strains against the arm, sensors detect any changes in size or energy output, triggering adaptive responses. The arm tightens or loosens as necessary to hold the mutation back, functioning almost like a high-tech brace that adjusts in real-time to maintain Piers’ arm in a stable form.
•Automatic Safety Lock: In the event of a significant spike in mutation activity or electrical output, the arm engages an emergency lock to keep the mutation from expanding. This feature is a safeguard against sudden bursts of energy that could cause the arm to revert to its mutated state.
Dependency and Risks of Removal
•Rapid Mutation Onset: Without the prosthetic in place, Piers’ arm begins to mutate almost immediately, returning to its original, unstable form. The electrical pulse that his body generates becomes unrestrained, emitting a continuous, breath-like rhythm that is both painful and dangerous, with energy leaking through protruding bones and exposed tissue.
•Uncontrollable Pulse: When uncontained, the electrical pulse from his mutation surges in intensity, lacking any natural “closure” or stopping point. This pulse causes rapid fluctuations in his vital signs and risks systemic overload, leading to loss of control over his mutation and putting him at severe physical risk.
Miscellaneous Details
•The arm has a unique serial code engraved on an inner plate, serving as an identifier for UMBRELLA technicians. This code also links to Piers’ personal health records, mutation data, and arm specifications for quick access during maintenance or in emergencies.
•Due to the intense electrical pulses generated by his mutation, the arm is equipped with an internal cooling system. Micro-fans and heat-dissipating channels prevent overheating during extended use, keeping the arm at a safe, comfortable temperature. If the arm overheats, an internal alarm alerts Piers to prevent any potential damage.
•The outer layer is treated with a UV-resistant coating to protect it from environmental damage and exposure. This ensures that prolonged exposure to sunlight or harsh conditions doesn’t wear down the arm’s exterior, making it more durable in diverse climates and situations.
•Designed for various operational environments, the arm is fully waterproof and corrosion-resistant. It functions normally underwater, which is crucial for aquatic missions or when exposed to rain, mud, or corrosive substances.
•The holographic display can be customized to show additional details, such as weather, GPS navigation, or tactical maps. Piers can also set personal preferences, like color schemes or alert tones, for a more intuitive user experience. This flexibility lets him prioritize the information he finds most critical during missions.
•The communicator has an onboard language translator, enabling Piers to communicate with individuals across different languages. The arm’s display shows translated text, and a subtle earpiece can even relay audio translations, making it easier for him to gather intel and negotiate in multilingual environments.

How COVID-19 might increase risk of memory loss and cognitive decline - Published Aug 7, 2024
Of all frightening ways that the SARS-COV-2 virus affects the body, one of the more insidious is the effect of COVID-19 on the brain.
It is now clear that many patients suffering from COVID-19 exhibit neurological symptoms, from loss of smell, to delirium, to an increased risk of stroke. There are also longer-lasting consequences for the brain, including myalgic encephalomyelitis /chronic fatigue syndrome and Guillain-Barre syndrome.
These effects may be caused by direct viral infection of brain tissue. But growing evidence suggests additional indirect actions triggered via the virus’s infection of epithelial cells and the cardiovascular system, or through the immune system and inflammation, contribute to lasting neurological changes after COVID-19.
I am a neuroscientist specializing in how memories are formed, the role of immune cells in the brain and how memory is persistently disrupted after illness and immune activation. As I survey the emerging scientific literature, my question is: Will there be a COVID-19-related wave of memory deficits, cognitive decline and dementia cases in the future?
The immune system and the brain Many of the symptoms we attribute to an infection are really due to the protective responses of the immune system. A runny nose during a cold is not a direct effect of the virus, but a result of the immune system’s response to the cold virus. This is also true when it comes to feeling sick. The general malaise, tiredness, fever and social withdrawal are caused by activation of specialized immune cells in the brain, called neuroimmune cells, and signals in the brain.
These changes in brain and behavior, although annoying for our everyday lives, are highly adaptive and immensely beneficial. By resting, you allow the energy-demanding immune response to do its thing. A fever makes the body less hospitable to viruses and increases the efficiency of the immune system. Social withdrawal may help decrease spread of the virus.
In addition to changing behavior and regulating physiological responses during illness, the specialized immune system in the brain also plays a number of other roles. It has recently become clear that the neuroimmune cells that sit at the connections between brain cells (synapses), which provide energy and minute quantities of inflammatory signals, are essential for normal memory formation.
Unfortunately, this also provides a way in which illnesses like COVID-19 can cause both acute neurological symptoms and long-lasting issues in the brain.
During illness and inflammation, the specialized immune cells in the brain become activated, spewing vast quantities of inflammatory signals, and modifying how they communicate with neurons. For one type of cell, microglia, this means changing shape, withdrawing the spindly arms and becoming blobby, mobile cells that envelop potential pathogens or cell debris in their path. But, in doing so, they also destroy and eat the neuronal connections that are so important for memory storage.
Another type of neuroimmune cell called an astrocyte, typically wraps around the connection between neurons during illness-evoked activation and dumps inflammatory signals on these junctions, effectively preventing the changes in connections between neurons that store memories.
Because COVID-19 involves a massive release of inflammatory signals, the impact of this disease on memory is particularly interesting to me. That is because there are both short-term effects on cognition (delirium), and the potential for long-lasting changes in memory, attention and cognition. There is also an increased risk for cognitive decline and dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease, during aging.
How does inflammation exert long-lasting effects on memory? If activation of neuroimmune cells is limited to the duration of the illness, then how can inflammation cause long-lasting memory deficits or increase the risk of cognitive decline?
Both the brain and the immune system have specifically evolved to change as a consequence of experience, in order to neutralize danger and maximize survival. In the brain, changes in connections between neurons allows us to store memories and rapidly change behavior to escape threat, or seek food or social opportunities. The immune system has evolved to fine-tune the inflammatory response and antibody production against previously encountered pathogens.
Yet long-lasting changes in the brain after illness are also closely linked to increased risk for age-related cognitive decline and Alzheimer’s disease. The disruptive and destructive actions of neuroimmune cells and inflammatory signaling can permanently impair memory. This can occur through permanent damage to the neuronal connections or neurons themselves and also via more subtle changes in how neurons function.
The potential connection between COVID-19 and persistent effects on memory are based on observations of other illnesses. For example, many patients who recover from heart attack or bypass surgery report lasting cognitive deficits that become exaggerated during aging.
Another major illness with a similar cognitive complications is sepsis – multi-organ dysfunction triggered by inflammation. In animal models of these diseases, we also see impairments of memory, and changes in neuroimmune and neuronal function that persist weeks and months after illness.
[You’re too busy to read everything. We get it. That’s why we’ve got a weekly newsletter. Sign up for good Sunday reading. ]
Even mild inflammation, including chronic stress, are now recognized as risk factors for dementias and cognitive decline during aging.
In my own laboratory, I and my colleagues have also observed that even without bacterial or viral infection, triggering inflammatory signaling over a short-term period results in long-lasting changes in neuronal function in memory-related brain regions and memory impairments.
Does COVID-19 increase risk for cognitive decline? It will be many years before we know whether the COVID-19 infection causes an increased risk for cognitive decline or Alzheimer’s disease. But this risk may be decreased or mitigated through prevention and treatment of COVID-19.
Prevention and treatment both rely on the ability to decrease the severity and duration of illness and inflammation. Intriguingly, very new research suggests that common vaccines, including the flu shot and pneumonia vaccines, may reduce risk for Alzheimer’s.
Additionally, several emerging treatments for COVID-19 are drugs that suppress excessive immune activation and inflammatory state. Potentially, these treatments will also reduce the impact of inflammation on the brain, and decrease the impact on long-term brain health.
COVID-19 will continue to impact health and well-being long after the pandemic is over. As such, it will be critical to continue to assess the effects of COVID-19 illness in vulnerability to later cognitive decline and dementias.
In doing so, researchers will likely gain critical new insight into the role of inflammation across the life-span in age-related cognitive decline. This will aid in the development of more effective strategies for prevention and treatment of these debilitating illnesses.

Divine (Military) Intervention
Content Warning: Mechs, Angels, Implications of extreme violence, Mental conditioning/Brainwashing
When the idea of using angels as pilots was first floated as a possibility years ago, very few took it seriously. Could our technology really hope to channel the power of a divine being into a mech without the risk of severe complication? What happens when an angelic pilot snaps on the battlefield? Could anyone or anything for that matter hope to survive the ensuing rampage? A combat angel without a thousand-foot-tall killing machine backing it up can already be a massive hazard for both sides of a conflict, the risk felt too great.
Eventually someone got the funding to do a study on a large group of angels, having them tank an array of standard pilot aptitude tests and the results were, frankly, completely shocking. The average angel got the same score as a human in the 94th percentile of human mech pilots. The lowest score recorded would've placed that angel in the 87th percentile. it seemed angels were not only viable as pilots, but some of the best entities one could ever hope to find for the job, outshining even combat dolls. Of course, aptitude tests and actual piloting are very different things, so some remained skeptical of their potentially.
When the first angel pilot training programs were put into practice, much of the world waited with bated breath to see the results. Unfortunately for them, though, it proved to be far more difficult than the aptitude tests made it seem. While angels' bodies showed compatibility with the standard implants used for human and doll pilots, they all without fail completely flunked out of any training or conditioning exercises. They remained hopelessly clumsy in their mechs, they remained resistant to their handlers' commands, and perhaps most troubling, the stress and overstimulation of piloting exercises would overload the angels' halos, often leading to power surges and blackouts within the mechs. It is rumored that it got so bad in one case, that the angel's halo shattered spontaneously during what would otherwise be a routine mental conditioning exercise.
For some, these failures were proof enough that angel pilots were a fool's errand. Despite their aptitude on paper, there was simply something about angels that made them unfit for piloting in some way and the strain it put on their halos was another problem altogether. It was best to leave this experiment in the past where it belonged, and focus on improving current mech programs.
For others, however, this setback provided something of an opportunity. Sure, the conditioning methods used on humans and dolls didn't seem to work, and in fact only seemed to confuse, disorient, and aggravate the angel pilots, but that could simply mean that a fundamentally different approach was in order. Two schools of thought emerged from this idea: The Absolution hypothesis and the Divine Wrath hypothesis.
The Absolution hypothesis posited that angels would be more responsive to their handlers if they were conditioned to believe that those handlers were being capable of passing judgement on them, and that said handlers would absolve them of their guilt, that fulfilling their duties of pilots would allow them compassion and affection. It was the idea that an angel would do anything to earn the feelings of adoration and forgiveness they were promised.
The Divine Wrath hypothesis, on the other hand, was a more outward approach. An angel could be conditioned to perceive enemy combatants as irredeemable sinners who must be cut down, or perhaps even that an opposing mech could be seen as a demon that must be purged from the Earth at all costs. This school of thought believed that the confusion and disorientation angels experienced in the piloting seat could be nullified if they were given a straightforward goal: Purge the world of the unholy.
In truth, though, it was not either of these ideas that was the secret to training angel pilots but both. The first ever successful angel pilot, designated HAL-0, was conditioned in accordance to both hypotheses, and was known at the time to be one of the most unquestioning and ruthless mech pilots of its time. HAL-0's original handler reported that the angel revered her as a goddess of sorts, and that it seemed to consider every confirmed kill to be an act of worship.
After HAL-0's success, more angel pilots inevitably followed, and much like their aptitude scores suggested, they quickly became revered as some of the most efficient pilots in the history of mech piloting. For a while, some believed that human and doll pilots would have to be phased out entirely, but the relative rarity of angels, and the unique difficulties of their training, made that effectively impossible.
Today, angel pilots can feel like a known quantity, but it should be noted that they remain starkly unique from other pilots to this very day. Even now, the handlers of more recent angel pilots report similar experiences to that of the woman who worked with HAL-0. A conditioned angel will stop at absolutely nothing to earn its absolution, and it holds no remorse for the sinners and demons in its crosshairs. It knows its purpose, and it'll pursue the purpose no matter what. Even when it means their halo might snap.

Cybertronians with polycephaly, discuss
Polycephaly is in fact something Cybertronians can emerge from the Well with. It is rare enough that there are only a few hundred recorded cases of it occurring naturally, and it comes with no end of complications. Generally, such Cybertronians emerge due to three situations.
The most common is when a pair of split sparks never fully separated, and so their frames merged during development. They share a spark chamber and the rest of their frame. All they have are their separate helms. The medical issues alone are severe more often than not since their ability to control their shared frame is usually quite hindered by the separate command streams coming from their sibling. Not to mention, two sparks being so unnaturally bound tends to lead to issues with relationships, functionality, and getting any sort of work. Most twins with polycephaly get work in the data caste somewhere since their processors can filter through double the data while they only have one frame to fuel. Thankfully this type of polycephaly can be rectified with enough surgeries.
Twins can be put into separate frames when they are young, or if they are too weak, they can wait until they are older and then separate. In such cases, they often go through increadible therapy and tend to stay together even after gaining separate frames. Oftentimes these twins come into their new frames as outliers in response to their extensive time sharing a spark chamber.
The second type of polycephaly that a Cybertronian can have is what is dubbed "Parasitic twin syndrome". That is not the official term, but that is what it is referred to publicly. In this case, split spark twins end up too close like in the first potential scenario. However, at some point during development or shortly after emergence, one of the twins offline due to either weakness or immune system issues in response to a shared spark chamber. The remaining twin is left with dead weight and a lifeless head beside their own.
Often these mechs go through spark transfers to get new frames immediately. They don't tend to last long on their own in a frame that requires two sparks to power it. If the mech is gotten to quickly, there are no long lasting effects. But there have been instances where a mech will go along with what remains of their twin for vorns upon vorns until the medical complications become too much.
The last case is when two completely unaffiliated newsparks end up partially merging during the climb out of the Well. Usually this is between a larger mech and a smaller one. The smaller will cling to the larger, and if certain conditions are met, the two will fuse together. Sometimes this results in a mech with two sparks but one helm and one frame, leading to a split personality syndrome. In other cases the smaller mech dies and the larger one grows stronger or vice versa. However, sometimes and very rarely, the two fuse perfectly and become an entity that perfectly shares a frame.
These mechs don't tend to have too many medical complications because they share a frame but still have two separate spark chambers and processors. Sometimes they stay together and never get surgery. Other times they do. Since there is no medical urgency around the decision, such individuals are allowed to do as they please.

I made this anomaly based on a music of my favorite band: Franz Ferdinand
ANM-591 - "Take me Out"
Danger Level: Snit 🟡 | Contained ⭕️
Responsible Researcher: Dr. Garrett
Anomaly Type: Human, mechanical, sentient
Damage Type: Mechanical, auditory, temporal
Confinement: ANM-591 is to be housed in a 5m x 5m x 5m reinforced containment cell at Site-43. The walls of the containment unit are to be lined with soundproofing materials to mitigate the ticking sounds generated by ANM-591 internal mechanisms. ANM-591 is allowed monitored recreation time in a soundproofed observation room for up to two hours per day, provided it cooperates with containment staff.
Any staff members assigned to the anomaly are required to undergo psychological evaluations on a monthly basis, as prolonged exposure to ANM-591 ticking noise has shown to induce mild anxiety and obsessive tendencies. ANM-591 containment area should be equipped with tools for maintenance of complex machinery, should minor repairs be required on the entity’s mechanical systems. Only personnel with Level 3 clearance and above are permitted to interact with the entity due to the potential danger posed by its mechanisms.
Description: ANM-591 is a humanoid male of indeterminate age, approximately 1.83 meters in height and weighing 98 kilograms. Upon initial observation, ANM-591 appears to be an ordinary human, albeit with several distinct tattoos of gears, sun motifs, and abstract patterns across its torso and arms. However, closer examination reveals that these tattoos are mere outlines of the complex mechanical structures that exist within and, in some cases, emerge from the individual's body.
ANM-591 torso, arms, and neck contain intricate clockwork mechanisms that extend deep into its body. These mechanisms, visible beneath translucent patches of skin, operate continuously and emit a rhythmic ticking sound at all times. This ticking is synchronized with ANM-591 heart rate, suggesting an interdependence between its biological and mechanical components.
The internal machinery within ANM-591 includes a combination of gears, pistons, springs, and unknown metal alloys that seem to replace or supplement the functions of his vital organs. The most prominent machinery is located in the thoracic cavity, where ANM-591 chest opens up into an array of interlocking gears and pipes that appear to pump and circulate fluids throughout the body. Further investigation into the machinery reveals a system that functions similarly to a circulatory system, though the precise workings are not fully understood. ANM-591 clockwork heart, a significant feature, seems to regulate its internal mechanisms with remarkable precision.
ANM-591 clockwork internals exhibit properties that are inconsistent with modern engineering principles. For instance:
• Self-Repair: When damaged, ANM-591 mechanical parts can initiate self-repair. This process occurs through the movement of small, insect-like clockwork entities that emerge from within the mechanisms to conduct repairs. These entities disappear back into ANM-591 once the repair process is complete. ANM-591 appears to experience physical discomfort during this process but is unable to cease or control it.
• Temporal Distortion: ANM-591 occasionally exhibits minor temporal distortion effects. When ANM-591 enters a heightened emotional state, the ticking within its body may accelerate or decelerate, causing nearby clocks and timekeeping devices to desynchronize. Testing has shown that this temporal fluctuation only affects devices within a 3-meter radius of the subject and is temporary, with clocks resuming normal timekeeping once ANM-591 calms down.
• Psychological Influence: Extended exposure to ANM-591 ticking sound has a notable psychological effect on individuals, causing them to experience an obsession with time, order, and routine. In extreme cases, personnel have developed repetitive behaviors or displayed symptoms of obsessive-compulsive disorder after extended shifts near ANM-591.
Addendum 591-1: Discovery
ANM-591 was discovered on ██/██/20██ in ██████, Scotland, after multiple reports from locals describing a “clockwork man” who could be heard ticking from a distance. Local authorities initially dismissed these reports as folklore or hoax until several witnesses claimed to have seen ANM-591 self-repair after sustaining injury in an altercation. MOTHRA agents embedded in local law enforcement responded to these reports and successfully apprehended ANM-591 without incident.
Addendum 591-2: Interview Log 591-A
Interviewed: ANM-591
Interviewer: Dr. Alan Carter
Date: ██/██/20██
[BEGIN LOG]
Dr. Carter: Good afternoon, ANM-591. Could you describe how you came to be in this state?
ANM-591: (Pauses, glancing down at its chest) I don’t quite remember. All I know is that I’ve always felt… mechanical. Tick-tock, every second of every day. Like I'm marching to a beat I can't escape.
Dr. Carter: You mean you've always had this… mechanism within you?
ANM-591: (Nods) It feels like my heart, my soul even. I don't know how else to explain it. When I feel something deeply, the gears inside spin faster, and the world… it starts to feel stretched thin. Like everything around me is just playing along to the same clock.
Dr. Carter: Interesting. Are you aware of the effects your mechanisms have on those nearby?
ANM-591: (Smiles faintly) Ah, the ticking? Yes, it bothers people. I see them fidgeting, losing track of time… I can't control it, though. It’s like I’m an old clock, keeping the world in sync, whether it wants it or not.
Dr. Carter: Fascinating. One last question—are there others like you?
ANM-591: (Pauses, looking away) I… I don’t know. But sometimes, I feel like I'm being pulled somewhere. Like a calling. Maybe to find others, maybe to a final destination. But I can’t go. Not yet.
[END LOG]
Addendum 591-3: Incident 591-Alpha
On ██/██/20██, ANM-591 ticking accelerated to approximately 300 ticks per minute, triggering a temporary time dilation field within a 5-meter radius. Personnel within the area reported that time slowed drastically, with seconds stretching into minutes. ANM-591 appeared agitated, repeatedly mentioning “the call” and “running out of time.” After five minutes, the field collapsed, returning to normal. ANM-591 tick rate returned to baseline, and it appeared visibly fatigued. When questioned, ANM-591 refused to elaborate on the nature of “the call.”
Addendum 591-4: Researcher Notes
Dr. Carter has hypothesized that ANM-591 clockwork nature may be a form of temporal anchor, possibly preventing it from succumbing to certain cosmic or metaphysical forces. Further research is recommended to determine if ANM-591 is a unique entity or part of a larger anomaly network. ANM-591 frequent mentions of “the call” suggest a form of summoning or compulsion that may necessitate additional containment measures should it intensify.

PART 3 OF ROGUE DEMIGOD EXPLANATION
Of course, to keep the camps functioning with so many demigods (mind you, there are so many because, like Camp Jupiter, most demigods stay for their own lives and settle down to have families), they needed roles.
TITLES The Gardeners are named Greenhands. The Fighters are named Strongarms. The Night Guards are named Sentinels. The Errand-Runners are named Runners. The Oracles are named Diviner. The Caretakers are named Nurturer. The Leaders are named Commanders, when they’re by themselves. The Tunnelers are named Tunnelers. The Strategists are named Tacticians. A group of leaders is called The Assembly. The Greenhands (gardeners) are responsible for tending to and cultivating the gardens that provide a large portion of the rogues' food supply. They are skilled in horticulture, botany, and agriculture, and work to maintain the health of the rogue camp's plant life. They also have a deep understanding of the properties of various plants and herbs and are well-versed in their medicinal uses. They often work in tandem with the Nurturers (caretakers) to gather ingredients for medical remedies, as well as for cooking and making crafts. Additionally, the Greenhands also often act as healers in emergency situations, and have a deep respect for nature and the living world.
The Strongarms (fighters) are the primary guardians of the rogues' territory. They serve as the first line of defense during blood moons or other emergency situations. They are highly proficient in hand-to-hand combat and are often equipped with weapons made from Celestial bronze, a magical metal with the ability to harm godly beings. They are trained to work in pairs or small teams and are highly alert, constantly scanning the surrounding area for signs of danger. If a threat is spotted, they immediately engage, taking out the enemy swiftly and efficiently. However, they also have a strong sense of community and are always ready to help fellow rogues with tasks such as transporting supplies or providing medical aid to the wounded. Unfortunately, they have the third highest death rate.
The Sentinels (Night Guards) are the guardians of the rogues' territory during the night. They are responsible for patrolling the borders and keeping watch over the rogue camp while the members sleep. They are highly skilled in stealth and observation, and are trained to operate under the cover of darkness, adapting to the lack of light. Their primary objective is to detect and repel any potential invaders. They have walkie-talkies and Iris-Messages to communicate with each other via a sophisticated communication system, allowing them to coordinate their efforts and react to any emergency situation. They are often equipped with a magic-advanced watch, created by the children of Hecate and Odin, designed to alert them to any potential threats. Their duties also include responding to any emergencies that may arise during the night, such as fires or medical incidents. Despite their serious responsibilities, they are also known for being a friendly and sociable group, often sharing stories and jokes as they walk their patrols. But don’t be fooled; they are not to be underestimated. They have the second highest death rate.
The Runners (Errand-Runners) are the rogue demigods who are tasked with running errands and performing tasks outside of the camp's perimeter. They are often sent to retrieve supplies, deliver messages, or to investigate the outside world. They are trained in stealth, and also possess skills such as lock-picking, pick-pocketing, and evasion to better complete their tasks. These rogues often work closely with the Scouts, sending back information about the exterior world, and even sometimes scouting the area for potential enemies or threats. As runners, their main goal is to quickly and quietly complete the task assigned to them, and safely return to the camp. They are also there to run errands like grabbing groceries, stealing from shops, et cetera.
The Diviners (Oracles) are the rogue demigods who possess the ability to peer into the future. They are able to use this power to predict upcoming events and offer guidance to their fellow demigods. The Diviners use various forms of divination such as horoscopes, divination cards, and scrying to gather information and impart that knowledge to the camp. They also serve as advisors to the Commander (the highest-ranking rogue demigod) and offer advice on matters of strategy and tactics during battles. The Diviners (Oracles) are the rogue demigods who possess the ability to see into the future, or to sense the emotions and thoughts of others. They are often consulted by the other rogues for advice, and are often the first to sense the signs of an impending threat. They are also often trained in the ways of magic, and are capable of using their powers to heal, or to harm. They are respected members of the camp, and their abilities are often the key to discovering hidden truths or solving mysterious problems. The Diviners are often the ones who guide the other rogues and help them make important decisions in times of need or doubt.
The Nurturers (Caretakers) are the demigods responsible for taking care of the rogue camp's most vulnerable members: the youngsters, the sick, and the injured. They are often the last line of defense. They are skilled in medicine and first aid, and often have an extensive knowledge of magical and mundane remedies. Most of them learn how to help with first aid. Additionally, the Nurturers often play a parent-like role in the camp, caring for the youngsters and providing them with a safe and nurturing environment to grow and learn. The Nurturers are often the ones who provide comfort and support to the other rogues, and to the camp as a whole. They are also responsible for teaching the younger Rogues basic survival and first-aid knowledge, and helping them to cope with the harsh conditions of their lives. The Nurturers are often seen as a vital and crucial role in the maintenance of the camp, and are looked up to by the other rogues as a source of both knowledge and care.
The Commanders (leaders) are ten highly skilled and experienced rogue demigods who are responsible for overseeing the operations of the rogue camp. They are often called upon to make important decisions and to provide guidance to the other rogues during times of crisis. They are also responsible for training new recruits and for formulating and implementing the camp's long-term strategies. Although each commander has a different area of expertise, they all work closely together to ensure that the camp functions as a cohesive and well-organized group. They are often seen as role models by the other rogues and as key figures in the camp's social and political hierarchy. They are the rogues with the most experience and training in the areas of battle strategy and tactics. They are the primary leaders of the camp and are responsible for planning and executing plans during major battles or during emergencies. They have a deep understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of both mortals and monsters, and are able to use that knowledge to their advantage when planning attacks or defenses. They are often seen as the most capable and intelligent rogues in the camp, and are highly respected for their strategic skills and leadership abilities. The Commanders are often the ones to lead the other rogues in battle, and are responsible for making the tough decisions that can often mean the difference between life and death. Unfortunately, they argue with each other a lot.
The Tunnelers (Tunnelers) are the rogue demigods whose primary responsibility is to build and maintain the underground tunnels that connect the camps. These tunnels provide a safe and hidden means of transportation for the rogues, and often serve as a quick and stealthy escape route in an emergency situation. The Tunnelers are often highly skilled in engineering, construction, and underground construction, and have a deep understanding of the natural world and its underground structures. These rogues are often seen as a crucial and essential part of the camp, as the tunnels they construct can often be the difference between life and death during a blood moon or other emergencies. They are often highly respected, and are often the ones to guide the other rogues through the tunnels during times of emergency. They have the highest death rate, because many of the tunnels can collapse on them while they're inside, or a monster can attack them.
The Tacticians (Strategists) are the rogue demigods who are highly skilled in the art of battle strategy and tactics. They are often the primary leaders of the camp during major battles or during high-risk situations. They are responsible for devising plans and strategies that will maximize the chances of success during a battle, and are often the ones to decide on the next move or attack. They are often highly respected for their ability to quickly analyze and adapt to their surroundings, as well as their ability to lead and motivate the other rogues during times of great stress. They are often seen as the strategic backbone of the camp, and are often the ones to provide guidance and direction during major battles or when facing an unknown enemy.
The Assembly (10 Commanders) are a group of ten rogue demigod Commanders who serve as the highest authority within the camp. They are responsible for making the most important decisions for the camp, and for providing guidance and leadership to the other rogues. They are often seen as the voice of the camp, and are often the ones to speak on behalf of the rogues during important meetings or negotiations with other groups. They are often the most experienced and trusted rogues in the camp, and are highly respected and admired by the other rogues. Each member of the Assembly brings their own unique strengths and skills to the table, and are often the ones to make the final decision on major issues within the camp. The Assembly plays an essential role in the maintenance of order and stability within the camp, and are often the ones to deal with any major crises or emergencies that may arise. All ten come from different roles in the camp to ensure that not one role is neglected or biased against.
The Youngsters (Little Kids) are the youngest members of the camp, often aged between 3-10. They are often protected and cared for by the other rogues, but they also have their own role to play in the camp. They are often entrusted with small tasks such as helping with chores and errands. They are often seen as a precious and vital part of the camp, and those who protect and care for them are often highly respected and admired. The Youngsters (Kids) are the youngest members of the camp, and often serve as a valuable source of energy and enthusiasm within the rogue community. They are often the ones to perform smaller tasks such as cleaning, simple errands, and assisting the other rogues with day-to-day activities. They are often seen as the future of the camp, and are given the opportunity to learn and grow through their interactions with the other rogues. The Youngsters are often the first to greet newcomers to the camp, and are often the ones to show them around and help them acclimate to their new surroundings. The Youngsters are often a joy to be around, and their lively and energetic personalities often serve to lift the spirits of the other rogues during times of stress or difficulty. Not only that, they are the most protected in the group. If you hurt even one of them, you won't make it out of the rogue demigod group's Camp Frontier with all four limbs intact.
The Apprentices (Kids from 10-14) are the younger members of the camp who take on smaller roles and responsibilities within the camp. They are often tasked with helping the other rogues with their jobs or duties, or with performing simple tasks such as fetch and carry, or running errands. They are also often trained in other areas, such as self-defense, magic, or survival skills. They are often seen as a vital part of the camp, as they are often the ones to take on the less glamorous or difficult jobs. They will one day take on the roles and responsibilities that are currently held by the other rogues.
The Scouts are demigods who check out potential territory, or a potential threat, to come back to The Assembly. Commanders send out Scouts when they are concerned about something, but they aren’t sure if they’re willing to go themselves. Scouts also double-time as messengers. Scouts work with Runners, most often.

Bearing the Brood
Being injured on the job had not been in Prowl’s long term plans. Even less had been the precincts refusal to take responsibility and to engage in training that would give Prowl the skills to take on different duties. Sensory blind in one doorwing, Prowl was a little more clumsy than a lot of Praxians and his career prospects were limited as well. Drones served the most menial roles in Praxus, there was little place for a disabled mech like Prowl. It was fortunate he had a good lineage and prior to his injury, a good job record. There was not a company in the city-state that did not have strict requirements for their brooders. Prowl had been fortunate to meet them.
Since he had entered his carrier as a professional broodcarrier, Prowl had carried six times. He kindled easily and suffered no complications which had only elevated his value to the company. His energon had come in with the first carrying and had not been allowed to dry up. For the bitlets that were going home to procreators who could not nurse, Prowl’s energon, and the energon of broodcarriers like him, could be ordered. When Prowl open, his wells’ energon supply kept him with an income. It was something. It was not the life he had planned for himself but he had shelter and fuel and respectability and that was all he wanted.
His frame was especially suited to carrying, according to the facilitators. His hips were wide allowing for an easy emergence and his thick thighs and belly belayed a frame that kept its stores ensuring the bitlet he carried never went without anything. Prowl had even gotten repeat customers by this point and his contracts were argued over, improving his standings even more. Most of the time he carried for couples who could not conceive together but who could both contribute to his ensparking and contributions, making them both procreators to the resulting bitlet. Sometimes they did so personally and sometimes it was all through artificial insemination. All in all, Prowl did not particularly care.
He was open now, and had been for a while, allowing his frame to rest. Prowl knew there were contract talks underway with a number of potential clients jockey for the right to fill his womb with their creation. Though he would be the one to carry, it was the facilitators who assigned the clients and Prowl only knew their personal situations if they chose to share it. No one paid the fees to use a broodcarrier if they had the ability to create without one. His services did not come cheap. It was a good and honest function to share his fertility with those who went without.
Knowing he would have a contract soon, Prowl was busy at work in his kitchen. He wore a frilly apron over his latex armour. Carrying made his sentio-metallico tender and he had gone without conventional armour for so long Prowl found it uncomfortable even when his forge was empty and he only wore it when he met with clients for the first time. It was not the same armour he had worn as an enforcer, that did not come close to fitting now, carrying six time had left him with a plumper middle than he had had during his enforcer service. That armour did not suit his current function anyways. Prowl working on the finally touches to his gift basket when the facilitators called to tell him they had connected him to a new client. New was good, Prowl liked new, a new mechanism or a new couple with an empty spot in their sparks that only a bitlet could fill. As he always did, Prowl brought the gift basket with him.
“And there he is!” The facilitator exclaimed as Prowl entered the office. He froze in the doorway. Sitting in the office with the facilitator was a giant of a mech. Was this his client? “Prowl’s service is very sought after, you must understand. He makes kindling and carrying look so easy.. You won’t be disappointed, Jazz.”
“Good to meet ya, Prowl,” the giant said.
“I brought a gift,” Prowl said. This mech was so big. They must have been planning invitro and a c-section. He could not imagine how anything else would make sense. “They are goodies to encourage transfluid quality and production to aid in smooth contributions.”
“That’s thoughtful o’ ya,” Jazz said.
“Given Jazz lives in Polyhex, the contract requires you reside with him during your confinement,” the facilitator explained. “Shipping contributions is just too hectic. If all goes well, he has reserved first refusal of your next contract as well.”
“I see,” Prowl replied. “I hope I do not disappoint.”
“‘M sure ya won’t,” Jazz replied.
It was not invitro they were after. Prowl was ushered into a large guest room with his newest client at his back. He had never resided with a client while carrying for them, though Prowl had known this sort of thing did occur. Praxus was the premier destination for reproductive tourism. None of his clients had been Praxian themselves and that was not uncommon from what Prowl had read. Seekers made up the highest number of broodcarrier clients in Praxus. Five out of the six clients Prowl had carried for had been Trines. It made no difference to him, the frametypes of his customers but he could not deny he was uneasy to be contracted overseas.
“How can I help ya relax?” Jazz asked. Prowl flushed. It was in poor form to offend a client so early.
“I...” he tried to come up with a denial, an excuse, and explanation.
“Ya got cause to be nervous, don’t ya think?” Jazz asked. “Yer supposed to go away wit me, a total strange, to the other side o’ the planet, away from everythin’ ‘n everyone ya know. That’s scary ‘nough. But then ya look at me ‘n ya feel so so small.”
“Yes,” Prowl said. He felt impossibly small. “I thought they might do invitro...”
“Don’t worry, Prowl,” Jazz told him. “Ain’t gonna hurt ya. Yer more flexible than ya know.”
Prowl could not imagine how he could be flexible enough but if his fears proved true, then they would move on to invitro. He would not leave with Jazz until he was confirmed to be carrying, that was guaranteed. Jazz pulled off Prowl armour and guided him to the berth. It was a bigger one that Prowl had ever served on. There was have been clients like Jazz before and he wondered how the broodcarriers had fared. Though Prowl’s wells were so large for his frame at this point, his supply bordering on unbelievable, Jazz’s servos covered them completely as he lounged in the berth, holding Prowl’s array against his mouth.
Jazz fragged him with his glossa as he had Prowl ride his face. It was enough to make Prowl’s legs feel weak. He mewled as Jazz held him around the waist and lifted him up and down, thrusting and wriggling his glossa so deep, it even broke into his tank. Prowl overloaded priming his spark to kindle. Digits as wide as spikes jointed Jazz’s glossa in preparing Prowl’s valve. His belly was so full and so tight as those digits pushed into him and he overloaded again. When Jazz laid him out on his back, Prowl was panting and his legs were like jelly. Jazz towered over him as he held Prowl’s legs up as he guided his spike to Prowl’s valve. It was so big, so incredibly big Prowl could not imagine how he could possibly take it.
He mewled as Jazz fragged his thighs with that monstrous spike, dragging it over his wet folds and glowing anterior node. It was so long and so thick it left a trail of pre-transfluid over his abdomen. Despite his anxieties at the sight of this spike, Prowl felt his internals clench. Jazz held the tip of his gargantuan spike to Prowl’s plump folds. All Prowl could do was stare. His folds thinned and strained as the broad tip of his giant client’s spike pushed against his opening. The strain was greater than any time he had given emergence. Prowl grunted as Jazz’s spike broke his entrance’s resistance and lodged in core. His jaw fell open as he saw the bulge in his belly and his own spike was forced out of his sheath like a canned jelly. He did not pressurize.
It burned more than it hurt. His biolights and nodes were brushed as Jazz pushed his spike deeper and deeper into his belly and they send bolts of pleasure up his spinal struts even as his valve’s casing strained beyond the schematics of his frame, his lining spread impossibly wide and taunt. Prowl grunted each time his client pushed deeper. Jazz slowly, leisurely fragged Prowl’s valve, pulling out, then thrusting back in, deeper each time. Lubricants gushed out around his spike each time Jazz pushed in. Prowl groaned loudly as he felt his client reformat his internals. There was pleasure in this, through the ache, the strain and the burn. His internal duct gave way as his client’s giant spike pressed against it and Prowl went limp as Jazz’s spike struck the top of his gestational tank. Prowl’s optics rolled back in his helm as Jazz leaned in close and the tip of his spike lodge in the funnel to his forge and overloaded with a surge so powerful Prowl fell offline.
“The client is thrilled with you,” the facilitator told Prowl as he made arrangements to travel to Polyhex.
“I am... gratified to hear that,” Prowl replied. He could hardly walk, Jazz had broken his frame without braking a strut or drawing a drop of energon. His belly was large as if he was well into carrying and it was only transfluids. No armour Prowl owned fit at all. He could only wear his apron. His limp spike dragged against his thigh as he waddled along.
“Our first royal patronage,” the facilitator exclaimed, gleefully. “Our business will soar!”
“Royal?” Prowl gasped.
“Oh yes,” the facilitator said. “Jazz is the heir apparent to Polyhex. None of our broodcarriers had carried for a duke, let alone a prince. This is so exciting.”
A prince?!

A Night for Hunting Ch.4- Who Raised You?
Been busy this last week, but here it is! Hope you enjoy our latest adventures with our detested yandere stalker.
T/W: Alucard (Ultimate) x F!Reader, yandere, touch-starved vampire, awkwardness, I gave up trying to make the conversation better Words: 3072 On AO3
"You are working yourself too hard. I can feel your hunger and exhaustion."
You saw the naughty shadows dance, the reflection barely matching how your body was moving. It was undulating and stretching under the faint light of the streetlamps, which was certainly not what your shadow should have been doing. The vampire emerged from the ground, oozing upwards to recreate his body and walk beside you. The gravel crunched as he matched your stride easily.
"You don’t think it's because I have to entertain the likes of you every few nights? Unlike you, I have stuff to do, a livelihood to look after. A job to work, an apartment to care for, meals to cook —responsibilities, you know." You yawned.
The two of you made for an awkward pair strolling the somber night boulevards, his imposing stature was as flamboyant as your appearance was unassuming —his crimson duster in stark contrast to your quiet black uniform. You walked together in silence, though you kept your distance and attention on him. His hands were at his side, his stance relaxed. Your sideways gaze flickered up briefly to ensure there weren’t extra extremities planning on stealing touches from you.
It was too peaceful. The same upside down patio chairs and industrial-sized garbage bins parked backwards to allow for pickup as on the other side of town. This area was much the same, yet so different, from your old neighbourhood. It was just another quiet suburb, but generally more desolate even during regular hours. There was ample greenery though, which you appreciated.
You glanced around the street to the darkened corners and crevices, carefully inspecting the usual favoured hiding spots for potential unnatural shadows harboring eyes. There weren’t any, although that smirk of his was ever-present. Annoyance flared in the pit of your belly.
It suddenly hit you. ”Is your name ‘Dracula’ spelled backwards? Haha such a funny coincidence, unless it’s not. Who names themselves ‘Alucard’? It's so sad, what a wannabe,” you snickered to yourself.
"Indeed. Isn't it quite amusing?" ‘Alucard’ tilted his head to gaze at the half-moon, his face mostly obscured beneath the sunglasses and hat. The sky was overcast, the modest light of the celestial body unable to penetrate the haze with the city’s light pollution also contributing to the concealment of the stars. This night held its own intrigue, but wasn’t quite as exquisite as the last, Alucard decided.
You arrived at your building and unconsciously held the lobby doors open for him. He didn't say anything to acknowledge your action, lest you become aware and try to ‘rescind the offer.’ You gently shut the door to your condo and toed off your shoes.
After settling your belongings, you ran fresh water in the kettle to boil. You thought the conversation about your overwork was over when he spoke up again. "Come to the Shangri-la at 1900 each night. We will have supper unless I have other…arrangements.”
You scoffed at him. “What are you talking about? You'll do that every single night? That's quite a commitment I'm sure you won't be able to keep."
Piercing golden orange irises locked onto your scowling face, before the slit-like pupils contracted and he sighed, "Go there whenever you do not wish to cook, with or without me."
You gave him the flattest look you could muster. “Do you really think I can afford eating at the Shangri-la everyday?”
The vampire returned your expression before it turned back into a grin. What was he smirking at this time?
Your irritation spiked as realization dawned. “I don't want such an arrangement with you, or a sugar daddy. It’s way too good to be true and I don’t trust you. What makes you assume I even want to be with you? No thanks.”
“No other motives, Sweet. Only ensuring you eat well.”
Once upon a time not long ago, this vampire chased you through abandoned streets like a serial killer of women, but now he was acting the gentleman? You didn’t know what to make of him except for how he made you uncomfortable and you wanted him gone, especially with the recent news about the disappearances of several people in the city. Your heavy mistrust of this freaky creature resurfaced with force. Making sure you ate well? Was he trying to fatten you up before he ate you?
The vampire's deep chortle filled the room, which you hated to find was a pleasant sound. "I don't eat humans, little one, though I'm certain you would be delicious." His eyes wrinkled with mirth and you felt yourself on the defensive again.
“As if you should be treating some woman to the Shangri-la every night. You realize it’s a luxury restaurant in a 5-star hotel? An unemployed thing like you can’t afford it either.” You couldn’t believe you had to explain how preposterous his proposal was to him. After filling the teapot with piping hot water, you turned back to your guest intending to tell him he was being stupid, when you froze.
He cocked a brow at you, an insane expression spreading over his face. Goodness, he looked like a psychopath. You were right to be wary of him. “I am employed, little human,” he cackled.
"Harassing me every few nights isn’t considered employment, vampire. And stop calling me 'little human.' It's demeaning." You could feel the pulsing behind your left eyelid, a headache beginning to emerge within your temples from the endless back and forth.
"My visits to you are a separate matter. I enjoy catching you —it truly gives me great satisfaction.” The beast turned to shadow, into a seeping dark mass that trickled to your feet and clutched your ankles, then began crawling up your body before you could escape. Frightening memories of the last time he held you down as a shadow replayed themselves, but you were unable to budge at all to try kicking him off. Anxiety gripped you by the throat, yet he was weightless this time, and materialized just his head directly in front of you, shiny teeth flashing and towering stature proudly hovering over your head. He had you cornered and you glared back defiantly.
“Are you not little and human?" He purred through a ghastly smirk at your shocked face, then abruptly became solid again, silently phasing through the counter and dining room furniture to sit at the couch.
You gasped for some much-needed air as he left, feeling your heart's rapid gallop in your ribcage.
Jerk. Was he reading your mind right now? You weren't sure. But you repeated yourself to be certain he heard.
"Jerk," you muttered under your breath as you scampered to the bedroom to change. Raspy chuckling sounded from the living room.
In the privacy of your bedroom, you stomped around, feeling only indignance and frustration from the incessant harassment. He was only messing around to make a fool out of you for his own entertainment, you reminded yourself. Ripping the black shirt off your head, you whipped it at the bed. What a twisted monster. Repeating the same manner of motions with your pants and underwear, you found your sour mood unimproved at all from throwing around your belongings. You cursed when you rammed a shin into the corner of the bed frame. That leg was going to bruise.
Hissing in pain, your gaze landed on the framed photos in the corner of the room, immortalized moments of cherished simpler times. You went to the photos sitting on the drawer and leaned over it with your hands braced against the top. There was a layer of dust gathering on the surface of the drawers. Two of your fingers smeared the dust off in a line. It’s been awhile since you had the luxury of time to take care of affairs within your home. You sighed. Tears pricked the corners of your eyes and you forced yourself to take deep breaths.
You may not be able to escape him, but one day, if the vampire didn’t maim or kill you first, he will get bored of you and eventually leave you alone. It was only a matter of time. Until then, you will have to bear the burden of his presence.
Forcing numb calmness over your mind, you took one final breath and stood with a straight spine, to present yourself with more poise than you felt. You dabbed away the wet residue at your eyes and smacked your cheeks lightly, then eased open the door to reenter the battle. --------------------
“So you can play with the lights, possess telepathy and control minds, have a lot of eyes, and you can turn immaterial and shapeshift. You have all these fancy abilities, perfect for scaring young women. Are you proud of yourself? Any other superpowers I should be aware of?”
Your unwanted guest’s duster was draped over the couch, revealing a dapper suit beneath, all brought together by the pretty red cravat at his neck. His expression was serene, not frightening as it was earlier. The fleeting thought of how easy he was on the eyes crossed the mind yet again, before your eyes narrowed at his comfort level and the way he made himself at home when he was in fact unwelcome.
"My other superpower is that I'm rich."
Wha-? Your exhausted brain faltered. "Y-you didn't. You are not Batman."
He looked at you curiously, then EXPLODED into hundreds of furry bats. The absurdity of your situation didn't escape you, but even you had to laugh as you gawked. He made a movie reference, but you set yourself up for that.
Staring at the horde for several seconds, you felt your scorching anger dampen, then evaporate. It just wasn’t the same when he wasn’t in the shape of a man, directing his mocking eyes and smirks your way.
You held out your hand to offer a landing spot for the bats. Alucard eagerly took up the offer. It was the first time you ever reached out to touch him, even if he was merely a collection of small winged critters at the moment. A larger bat landed on your palm and clung to your fingers. You stared at the colony fluttering around your home, some now docked on various light fixtures, kicking up dust and making the lighting in the room blink erratically from the wings periodically blocking the light. You turned your attention back to the animal in your hand.
It was black and furry, regarding you with translucent scarlet eyes and chirping in greeting. The animal lover in you ignited and your heart melted. You cooed at the bat, almost in disbelief that this was real, and alternated between stroking its back and belly. The animal keened, awkwardly climbing your hand to roll over and present its stomach while fluttering its wings and rubbing its back into your hand. Oversized saucer ears swiveled from side-to-side to catch the sounds of you babbling to him. The collection of his bat eyes around the room were focused on you as they soaked up your affection.
Alucard wanted more. Several more bats flew over to land on your arms and fingers, all vying for your attention. You giggled at the swarm surrounding you, with too many wings, feet and little cheeks and fingers to pet, you didn’t know where to go first. It was a surprise discovery that the wings weren’t leathery, but covered in a thin, silky soft skin. You forgot yourself and ran your fingers through another’s luscious velvet fur and pressed your nose to its face.
Squeaks echoed around the room and the flapping swarm merged to reform into a humanoid figure. The vampire approached with a peculiar expression, his face near yours, forcing you back into reality and to inch away from the proximity. The vampire's eyes were bright vermilion as he took another step forward to maintain the closeness between you.
"Do that again."
"Do what again?" Suddenly, you were jumpy now that it was Alucard again.
"That sound, the laugh."
You gave him an incredulous chuckle, ”You’re kidding, right?”
"Not like that. Like before, just now when you were holding me." It sounded like the chime of bells to him.
Holding him? Who speaks like that to someone they barely know?! "You can't just force someone to give you a heartfelt laugh! Sheesh, have you never been socialized before? You are you right now, not a cute bat!"
The vampire huffed and insisted with a low rumble emanating from his chest, "It was music. Do it again."
"I-I just told you! My goodness, who raised you?"
At that question, he gave you a funny look, almost like he was sad and pained, but it was gone just as quickly and he straightened out and collected himself. "I am far-removed from my days as a human." He observed your arms held out flat to your chest in defence and withdrew.
This thing was human? But of course he was. He must have been a human turned into a vampire, if the legends were true. Thinking back on the timeless beauty you found in his eyes when you first met, combined with the strange mannerisms, you figured this must have been long ago.
You didn’t want to know more about him or his past.
You had leftovers for dinner. Just a simple meal of baked chicken drumsticks and roasted eggplants with buckwheat, all made in bulk several days ago with lots and lots of garlic. Despite the seasoning, you didn't offer him anything, but only because you didn’t want to waste your precious food on him or allow him to feel welcome.
During the entire meal he stared at you eating. It was unnerving. He watched too carefully, his eyes capturing every detail. When your tongue poked out to lick at escaped sauces, you caught his pupils darting over to trace your actions. When you looked at him for a moment too long, his eyes would catch yours and almost drown you with their strange light. He seemed absolutely fascinated by everything you did. You shivered under the intense scrutiny and averted your gaze back down at your food. --------------------
You hoped he would leave after dinner, but the mannerless vampire was still here. You couldn’t sleep with him around. Knowing that requesting for him to leave would be meaningless, you chose to watch a chick-flick in the hopes it would be off-putting. It wasn’t one you enjoyed either.
Seating yourselves with him on the opposite (his favourite) couch, you kept the distance between you. Your lids already felt heavy. 97 minutes wasn’t long for a movie, but in your state, you wondered how you would last the stretch too.
“You are exhausted,” he noted, crossing his legs to examine you properly. The darkness hid nothing from him. He could see you perfectly.
The air conditioner turned back on with a hum as the movie began. Sirens screamed past your building outside, but you didn’t acknowledge any of this. Your head hung low, chin almost touching your chest as the softness of the couch embraced you. You were drooping, nodding off, the darkness of night a welcome reprieve for once. You came back to awareness with a start.
You made a sound and mumbled, “I am watching.”
"You are watching a movie with your eyes closed?" His voice was quiet, not taunting.
"It's a neat ability I have." You shifted your weight to the other side and stared at the screen blankly.
"It's hard to stay awake after all that happened during the day,” you trailed off. So peaceful.
"You do not need to justify your human needs."
At the low melodic timbre, you turned bleary eyes towards the source to make out only two irises, iridescent pools of liquid gold in the poor lighting.
"Time to sleep, little one."
It was such an odd feeling, like you were floating through haze-shrouded skies. You tried to shake off the sensation, but were too weak. Your lids got heavy and you passed out on a full belly, slumped against a large pillow with your head at a funny angle. In your dreamlike state, it seemed there was to be a strange truce with this nightwalker tonight.
Alucard stared at your limp form, at the smooth expanse of throat that was bared to him. His eyes honed in on the tiny flickering pulse on the side. It was in the air. Your monthly was due soon, and you were fertile at this moment. His fangs descended. Your neck will be sore later if you slept like that the entire night. He licked his lips and silently slipped up to you. He faded into the soft fabric of the couch and reappeared seated next to you with his shoulder propping up your unconscious body as he emerged from the couch.
There was almost no external light in the room, only what was granted by the TV screen. The hour was late, or early, depending on what kind of being you were. The blaring of sirens screamed past outside once more before all was silent, save for the occasional noises of nocturnal animals breaking the tranquility.
Alucard allowed the movie to continue playing to completion with you slumped on his shoulder. Two women on screen shrieked at each other for petty perceived offences, but Alucard paid the movie no mind. He watched you sleep, listened to the slow thump of your heartbeat, felt the puffs of your even breaths. He knew you'd be warm, but the prolonged contact with your body heat was more akin to a furnace thawing out his dead body. He caught your scent again, the enticing female pheromones much more preferred now that they were directly on him. For once you weren’t scared or anxious. He was comfortable. Your relaxed expression calmed him and his eyes closed.
Now that you no longer ran from him when he came to you at night, the first vampire honestly missed the thrill of the chase. When the pungent scent of your terror diffused through the air as you realized he was present, it shot straight to his loins. When you screamed and fled, his body was mandated to follow. He missed the exhilaration and adrenaline rush from catching you, addictive drugs which made him almost feel alive again, but this…he shifted to prevent your head from falling off his shoulder…this was good too.

Heart of Steel
Fallout masterlist - main masterlist
Chapter 1 - 2 - 3 - 4
Song for this chapter:
Summary: You took the opportunity to ask Danse about having a private life within the Brotherhood while Maxson was on his way to see an old friend, someone he knew he could talk to.
Notes: I'm so obsessed with Maxson still being this traumatised boy that grew up all alone in the Citadel so here you go with some more insight into his thoughts and fears :) and some sweet funny misunderstanding with Paladin Danse because he's just adorable in his own way. This is not proof-read, finished it 10 minutes ago and decided to just post to not keep you waiting :)
Chapter 5 - Don't let me be misunderstood
After finally being able to leave his quarters, you swiftly changed into your uniform and made your way towards the kitchen, your hungry stomach growling. The tables appeared unusually empty for this time of the morning, with only Danse sitting there, enjoying a simple breakfast of toast and roasted meat. A sudden question popped up in your head, causing you to wonder about the personal lives of the other soldiers and what activities the Brotherhood allowed them to engage in outside of their duties. Reflecting on your pre-war military life, you recalled being granted quite a fair amount of freedom, including the ability to marry fellow soldiers and enjoy leisure time after completing your duties. However these were different times, with different rules in a strange world. With a mischievous glint in your eye, you approached the Paladin, trying to strike up a casual conversation.
"Hey Danse", you said with a sly smile, "you've brought me to the Brotherhood and I've been curious about a few things we never had a chance to discuss. Like for instance how do you unwind after a long day of battling wasteland creatures?"
Caught off guard by your question, Danse shifted uncomfortably. He was known for his unwavering dedication to the Brotherhood and delving into his personal life was a topic he seldom broached. He believed that he had already divulged more than enough about his past during your encounter at the police station. However, he sensed that you were genuinely attempting to fit in, and he had no qualms about sharing any information that could ease your transition into the Brotherhood.
"Well," he pondered, his face turning slightly red at your sudden focus on him, "I, uh, usually spend my free time focusing on my duties, training and maintaining my power armor."
You couldn't help but chuckle at his response, wondering if Danse even might be the right person for this discussion. The Paladin you got to know made you ask yourself more than once if he even knew the concept of a life outside the Brotherhood.
"No, no, Danse", you said, trying to explain the intend behind your question, "this is all too strict, too much of the soldier life. I meant, do you have any personal hobbies or interests? Something that helps you relax?"
"Oh, I understand. Well, I suppose I enjoy tinkering with my weapons and keeping them in top shape or upgrading them. It gives me a sense of fulfilment."
Impressed by his unwavering commitment, you decided to delve deeper and inquire about what you truly wanted to know. You had no idea where things with Maxson would lead, but given how that man ignited a mix of curiosity, desire and occasional frustration in you each time your paths crossed, you didn't want to rule out any potential outcomes, especially not the ones you secretly hoped for. The way he tugged at your heartstrings despite being entrenched in his stubborn beliefs and the crushing weight that came with the leadership of the Brotherhood, meant something to you. He was by far not the first interesting person you encountered since emerging from the vault but along with him came that feeling of a deep connection, an understanding you'd find with no one else.
"And what about love?" you asked, raising an eyebrow, "do you think the Brotherhood has any against, you know, sexual encounters or relationships with...uhm...fellow soldiers?"
Danse's eyes widened at your question. You caught him alone and discussed all those very personal topics. Thinking back at when he first met you, you were rarely quiet, constantly poking at him with remarks, statements or queries. There had to be more to this than he first thought.
"Uh, well, the Brotherhood focuses primarily on our mission to protect and serve. Personal relationships can complicate matters, so they are generally discouraged but not forbidden. We do in fact have a few soldiers and initiates dating each other", he stuttered, "but uhm if you were specifically asking about me, I truly appreciate the sentiment but I'm sworn to my duty and not available for any...uhm...romantic relations with you."
As you stood there, nervously shifting from foot to foot, you couldn't help but feel your cheeks flush with embarrassment. This was definitely not the way you had planned this conversation to go.
"Oh, no no no! I apologise for the misunderstanding, Danse. I was actually referring to someone els...within the Brotherho...you know what? I'm glad we cleared that up. I'm just going to leave now. Bye and thanks."
You hurried down the long corridor, hearing Danse bid his farewells before you sprinted up the stairs and finally got out of sight. It almost made you laugh as you realized that talking to the Elder felt like a walk in the park compared to any conversation with Danse. You headed towards the airport beneath the Prydwen, switching on the radio attached to your Pip-Boy as you geared up for the shooting training. As you made your way closer, the sound of gunfire echoed through the air unleashed a wave of excitement within you. The Brotherhood of Steel's training exercises were renowned for their rigour and you were determined to prove your skills, hoping Maxson would be there to watch, giving you another opportunity to spend more time with him under the cloak of duty.
Maxson made his way down to the airport, the weight of loneliness growing heavy on him, an all too familiar feeling. He needed someone to talk to, someone who'd listen, regadless whether they replied. Surveying his surroundings, he proceeded through a security door at the back of the main building. The dimly lit room emitted a faint aroma of oil as he approached the table. It was a whimsical, childish notion that led him here, but the instant he caught sight of it, a comforting sense of home enveloped him.
"Hello old friend", Maxson whispered tenderly, his hand resting upon the colossal robot head resting on the table.
He leapt onto the table, taking a seat beside the head, his legs dangling and swinging as he shut his eyes and drew in a deep breath. He felt the sadness of that little boy back in the Citadel who had no friends but was burdened with high expectations because of his name. He chuckled softly at thought that Rothchild wouldn't chase him away this time and if someone else were to stumble upon this place, he could simply claim to be inspecting the Brotherhood's most promising weapon. The perks of bring the Elder now instead of that little boy. He shook his head, scolding himself mentally for even being here, knowing all to well that he shouldn't try to make friends with a machine and yet, who else would listen to him without passing judgment? Perhaps you, but how could he discuss all of this with the person who started it all?
" I apologise for my absence and lack of visits all those years. It has been a challenging time for me, especially after losing Sarah. I didn't know what to do anymore, I was completely alone...", his voice trembled and tears formed in the corners of his eyes, " I trained, I fought and look at me now, Elder of the Brotherhood of Steel, upholding the Maxson legacy and striving to protect the people."
He couldn't hold the tears back anymore, all the weight of loneliness crushing him. He had managed to deceive everyone, including himself, until you entered his sacred space and saw through his facade from the moment you set foot on the Prydwen.
" But I feel alone, old friend, all the burden to bear yet never anyone to confide in, to share it with. But there is someone new in the Brotherhood, joined two days and you wouldn't believe how she's turning my life upside-down."
He chuckled, brushing away the tears from his face, the edges of his lips twitching into a joyful smile as he reminisced in the memories of last night.
"Believe me, if you could meet her you'd adore her too, she is everything I also thought I'd be when I grew up. Strong, kind and fearless in the face of true injustice. I envy her, she can be herself unburdened by the weight I have to carry...sometimes...I...I wish I could just leave, be someone else, be me but that was never my destiny, wasn't it? If you could you'd probably ask me what she means to me, well that is a difficult question. I hold great admiration her, I think there might even reside love deep in that broken heart of mine but I'm also afraid of her in a way. What if I disappoint her? What if I fail to meet her expectations? Given how persistent she was on tearing my defenses down, would she even care for expectations? Wouldn't she simply want the real me? But then again who exactly would that be?"
Arthur leapt from the table, pacing in circles before the head, his gaze fixed on the floor as he became lost in his thoughts. It eluded him how you'd even be able to like him, given how you disagreed with him on your first meeting. You remained a riddle, and the more he tried to unravel you, the more you seemed to fade into the mystery that defined you. A sigh escaped his lips; all his questioning and doubting amounted to nothing. He couldn't negotiate with the worries away that held his heart hostage; the only way out was to confront whatever lay ahead. He had to brace himself for whatever the next encounter with you had in store. His footsteps came to a halt in front of the table once more, his gaze shifting up to the visor of the robotic head. Gently, he placed a hand on it, tenderly tapping the cold metal.
"Thank you for listening my dear friend from days gone by."
He made his way towards the exit, his gaze lingering for one last moment.
"See you later, alligator", he chuckled with genuine joy.
As he flicked off the light and left the room, he knew he had to leave the little boy he missed so much behind, along with Liberty Prime as his friend, all for the sake of the Brotherhood. However, he also held onto a glimmer of hope that, with you, he'd found a new place he could finally find and cherish what that boy always longed for and it left him with a warmth he'd try to keep at any cost.

Bailu AU: Mithridate Hidden Among Golden Roots.
The first step to creating antidotes and antivenom is injecting small amounts of the toxin or venom into an animal, like a horse or sheep, and then extracting the antibodies produced from the animal's blood. Bailu was born in a similar manner.
In his attempt to resurrect his friend—Baiheng—Dan Feng used the Transmutation Arcanum (a method of transferring powers and appearance from one High Elder to the next) on her remains, along with his blood mixed in. During the process another friend, Yingxing (who was assisting Dan Feng), used the remains of ShuShu—an emanator of the Abundance—to aid in the resurrection only for it backfire tremendously. With the addition of Shushu's remains it triggered something within their friends DNA created a "monster". This "monster" went out of control and almost destroyed the seal on Arbor's roots; however, the "monster" was quickly delt with before anymore damage could be done. But from this creature's remains an egg was formed, and from this egg would eventually emerge Bailu.
Effectively, Bailu is a walking counteragent to Mara. Her cloudhym can slow the effects of Mara and, in some cases, reverse it to some degree. Her cloudhym can slow the effects of Mara and, in some cases, reverse it to some degree. At the same time, her antibodies can potentially eradicate Mara within someone. The use of Shushu's remains during the resurrection was like injecting the subject with a small amount of toxins. The subsequent transformation into the "monster" can be seen as the subject's immune system attempting to fight off these toxins. When it died and turned into an egg, a mutation occurred thanks to the water from the Lunarescent Depths and the land where the beast fell. This mutation allowed Bailu to start producing Mara antibodies, and why she hatched safely despite being partly born from an emanator of the Abundance.
Despite being a natural response to Mara, her abilities and potential remain unknown to all. This is partly do to the shackle on her tail. It suppresses a large amount of her powers, so despite her elixirs being effective against Mara, they are not as effective as they could be. The other reason is that she looks like a normal Vidyadhara. The only way to tell is have some of her white blood cells go against those who have developed Mara.

Phalloplasty and Urethra Lengthening (aka Urethraplasty) Procedure - Personal Article
***Make sure you come home with antibiotics***
Definition of a catheter: A catheter is a tube that is inserted into your bladder, allowing urine (wee) to drain freely. The catheter tube is attached to a drainage bag (a catheter bag), where the urine can be collected.
How a catheter works: Catheters are usually inserted through the urethra (the narrow tube that connects your bladder to the outside). The catheter is kept in place by a ball filled with saline that sits against your bladder wall. This can cause bladder spams.
What is the Procedure?
After phase one, Phalloplasty, a skin-tube urethra (created and placed during the first phase of phalloplasty). After phase one (a minimum of six months between procedures is a common healing period) they make an incision in your scrotum and connect the urethra in the phallis is connected to your original (but lengthened) urethra. It is a short procedure. After the procedure you will have a catheter inserted and you will have it outside of the hospital from two to six weeks (time varies from clinic to clinic). Where it will most likely be removed by your primary health care provider. The catheter is used to protect the new urinary tract as it heals post- operation.
Wearing boxers and loose underwear can help you feel more comfortable while the catheter is in. While more tight underwear such as boxer briefs and briefs are better for after your healing period to help keep your phallis from creating a potentially unwanted bulge in your thigh of your pants.
Findings and Advice:
Bladder spams can be an irritating and annoying type of pain, more annoying than painful. They come and go randomly, but they are something to be aware of.
I was in surgery for about an hour and a half for this particular part. Then, about the same amount of time in the OR (Operating Room) care unit. When I was in there, they offered to let me go as soon as I was wide awake and completely responsive. I received a [intramuscular] shot of morphine. I have a habit of getting sick (vomiting) if I get the entire dose at one time. So I informed the nurse that I get extremely neausous with the full amount of morphine and I was told to do it in two doses. The nurses were nice, they did what I asked. They gave me half then about 20 minutes later gave me the other half. Since I had to take the pain medication, I had to stay an extra 45 minutes. Where as if you don't need anything for pain you can go back to your room after a few minor "tests" of your body and mind.
I know you want to get out of that room, but take your time and rest. Take the pain medication if you need it.
Do not let your pain get over a 7/10 on the pain scale. Once you get to 7,8, or above, you can have a hard time getting comfortable.
Do not try to tough out the pain at any stage. If you are in pain, let a medical professional know.
Ask your surgeon any and all questions you have. They talk to you for a reason. They want you to be informed and heal properly.
Try to have someone who can be around a lot to look after you for a few days after the procedure.
You may have a wound between your phallis shaft and your scrotum. That is where they went in to connect the new and preexisting urethra. (At least for me)
Watch for signs of infection, and if you are concerned, go to the Emergency Room, call your clinic, or whoever provides you Healthcare. (red, irritation, heat, puss, a bad smell, ect.)
If you are leaking from your catheter, speak to a health care professional. Leakage can be a problem if the catheter isn't placed right. Catheter Info
The type of catheter they most likely will use is called: Long-term indwelling catheter: The catheter is passed through the urethra and left in place. This time can range from two to six weeks before it may removed. Surgerons times may vary, average I see is about three weeks. Mine, they wanted six weeks.
WASH YOUR HANDS ALWAYS AS IF YOU HELPED YOUR FRIEND DISPOSE OF A DEAD BODY!!!
The catheter can be in from two to six weeks. This is a long time with a catheter, so be prepared mentally.
You will need some extra catheter bags, hand sanitizer (multiple bottles), medical tape (something easy on your skin), non-scented body wash, some antibacterial wipes, a plastic leg covering from a medical supply store (if required), ice packs, boxers (plain, loose fitting boxers while you have the catheter in) maybe something to put to protect your mattress if you want to, big comfortable sweatpants (get or have at least five pairs to rotate through), a number to your clinic, all of your medications given and taken as instructed, make sure you get antibiotics!
Dripping after you are healed is normal for even cis men (usually its only a few drops)
I drip if I don't shake enough or take my time
How to reduce leakage, dribbling, and general mess:
After passing urine, wait for a few seconds to allow the bladder to empty
Place the fingertips of your hand on your mid taint, behind the scrotum and apply gentle pressure also slight pushing of your pelvic mucles may help
Keeping the pressure in the mid line, gently but positively draw the fingers forwards towards the base of the penis under the scrotum
This pushes the urine forward into the penile urethra from where it can be emptied by shaking or squeezing in the usual way
Before leaving the toilet, repeat the technique twice to ensure that the urethra is completely empty. Source
I do the last step at least three times. I also take time between the three attempts. I will let my penis rest with gravity, I do a slight push, then I can almost feel if anything is left or not. Always do a couple security shakes.
Pro-tip when urinating standing, use the pocket in your underwear, try not to pull your phallis over your waistband (usually you pull your boxer wistband down and flop your phallis over. This is okay to do by all means, but it does work against gravity and makes it more difficult to completely empty. So my recommendation is to use the pocket in your boxers. Just undo your zipper and button (or if you have sweats or something you have to pull them down, but make sure the waistband doesn't touch your shaft or even try to hold it lower than your scrotum. I kind of use my remaining fingers to block my waistband from touching me in sweats or something without buttons or zippers
It gets easier to pee if/ when your pump is implanted. Since you are always slightly pumped (most models of pumps require a pump at all times (min) ask your doctor about your oumping situation, the booklet clinics tend to give out dont always give you all you need to know), there is enough rigidity (hardness/stiffness) to keep your urethra more straight). I found my penile implant really helped with my urination and being able to completely empty my bladder. It also allows urine to flow more freely when I do urinate. This isn't to say before your pump you will have issues, more you have to support your phallis as you urinate a lot more to keep that tract straight. If you get penile implants, for example, you can pee with no hands. If you do with no implant, you may pee on yourself because there is no rigidity, but I'm sure there is someone out there who can and more who will be able to. Like I said, all of our bodies are different
Gravity is your friend
No sex (even anal) of any kind for usually at least 6-8 weeks
Try to relax
I can feel awkward peeing in a urinal with someone next to me because I shake more than I feel is socially typical. Comfort is a big factor in peeing in general. I have anxiety about going to the bathroom in public, I usually use a stall if I can. It's not a big deal.
You can still get pleasure and have orgasms in this state. I do not recommend trying to do penetrative sex, but this is a good question to ask your doctor
I had a lot more sensation after I was healed.
I find that it's easier to wear underwear that is more supportive, eg., Boxer briefs, briefs, pocket underwear. You don't shrink a lot when you're not erect, so you have more to tuck away than the average cis man. I find boxers and loose fitting underwear can cause an unwanted bulge in one inner thigh or the other when wearing especially sweatpants and jeans.
Wearing the above kind of underwear can reduce mess after your catheter is removed and drippage as you learn as well. You're probably gunna pee down your leg as you learn.
Carry a extra pair of underwear with you when you go somewhere, before your catheteris removed as well. If you are learning and you make a mess, you can have a clean pair of underwear to put on. It's not fun sitting in pee soaked underwear...
Wear dark pants at first (hides if you have an accident)
There is a huge learning curve, you don't expect it, but it's not as easy as it seems to hit the target when you stand to pee, and learning to be patient and effective at emptying your bladder.
It is ABSOLUTELY NORMAL TO URINATE SITTING DOWN!!! I did a small survey in a Facebook group for males (i was actually impressed it had over 200 votes, plus over 100 comments in total). Many comments and votes say it's perfectly fine to sit peeing and many people have different reasons. Mine is I want to play on my phone, plus sometimes my feet are tired... It's normal to sit.
Be careful with your urine bags and always ALWAYS have extra urine bags ON HAND/ AT YOUR CURRENT LOCATION!!! And no a plastic ziplock baggie will not do. Trust me.
Have tons of hand sanitizer around the house and bathroom, antibacterial soap, unscented soap (for your body), and make sure that you keep your hands and valve on your catheter always sanitized.
If you feel pain in your member or bladder or anywhere inbetween, go to the Emergency Room, if you feel hot go to the E.R right away. Better to be safe than sorry.
Keep hand sanitizer literally on the back of toilet so it is convenient.
Even with the catheter in, you feel the urge to urinate. I found that I could ease the feeling for a bit if I "urinated" in my usual position (I found sitting to be most comfortable)
You are going to be very tender and sore
Swelling will go down
Make sure you stay clean and dry. Especially where your wound is.
The doctor who does a lot of the work during this phase of surgery is called a urologist. So research them as well as your surgeon. You want every member of the team of your entire procedure to be great at what they do.
Do not try to remove the catheter yourself. You will not be successful. If you are having issues go to the Emergency Room, clinic, or whoever provides proper health care to you.
Do not take any chances with infection. Hands clean, valve sterilized and closed, urine bag attached properly and tightly.
Wait to shower until you are instructed to.
Try to shower as often as they tell/let you. You want to stay clean to avoid infection. Of course you also don't want to overdo it.
Showering with a catheter is a challenge. I found that the plastic covers made for covering wounds/bandages/ etc. Depending on what your surgeon says, you may not have to cover your catheter bag at all. Be sure you ask your clinic!
When you are showering, be super mindful you have a catheter. Any tugging or too much movement can hurt and possibly affect your healing. So be gentle. Also, be careful when washing the tip of your phallis at this stage.
Dry your wound/ pubic area by patting dry and not wiping. Be gentle.
During my showers, I would use medical tape to kind of keep everything (tubing) in one place.
Your catheter may not come with anything to hold it onto your leg. While catheters i noticed usually come with a soft elastic band with snaps that you'd tie to your leg. If you dont recieve that in the clinic, ask a nurse if they can give you some dressing mesh and ask if they can teach you how to make a pocket you can tie to your ankle (that's what I did, the elastic band would slide down my leg). There may be other options for holding your catheter. I do not recommend anything that would cut off blood flow to your leg and/or something that restricts or affects the functionality of your catheter.
Be mindful of your catheter at all times.
If you are going insane with the feeling of having to urinate, try looking at your unit and tell yourself "I don't need to pee, I'm fine. I will not mess myself". It especially helps when I would sit on the toilet as I did this.
Shave your inner legs if you have to, because you will want to tape the tube to your leg, at least in the shower. This helps so you don't pull/tug it. Trust me again. Pulling/ tugging on it even slightly by accident is not a good time.
Always double check to make sure your valve is closed, leaving it open is a welcoming hall for viruses and bacteria directly into your bladder
I know that catheter is going to drive you mad, DO NOT TUG ON IT!!! I tugged (because it was making me not comfortable), and it actually moved the catheter out of place. This caused me to be urinating directly through my new urethra before it could have been ready. It was actually really painful (burning). So please do not tug, go see your medical professional if you are feeling very irritated and/or uncomfortable. Sometimes, the [catheter] line needs to be "flushed" (flushed: when they "rinse out" the catheter system with saline water).
Take your meds as instructed, especially your antibiotics. If you have to take meds at certain times or time intervals, set alarms, tell someone. For many antibiotics, timing matters and is a huge factor in how well they function
Do you feel yourself pee when you are completely healed? - Yes, I can feel it, especially when it's been cold outside
Do you feel yourself pee with a catheter before the swelling goes down? - For me? No, your bag just fills up. But contrary to what I always think (everytime i have a catheter think "i dont have to get up to pee for awhile, niiiice", im always wrong), it does make you uncomfortable as in feeling like you have to urinate constantly. That's a lot thanks to the bladder spasms.

This is primarily for any friends/family in Colorado. However, it applies to any pet owner in the U.S., because what's happening in Colorado will happen in your state sooner or later, guaranteed. It is very long, but if you have a pet, this should matter to you.
Coloradans are being asked in this year's election to vote on Proposition 129, which would establish a mid-level veterinary position (Veterinary Professional Associate, or VPA). Think of this like a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, positioned between the veterinarian and the veterinary technician.
I know it sounds good, but I would very strongly encourage you to vote against this if you live in Colorado.
It is being proposed as a way to relieve a hypothetical veterinarian shortage by creating a position that could perform all the functions of a veterinarian (except, currently, prescribing medication due to FDA restrictions) - but with far less training. And yes, they explicitly would be allowed to perform complex surgical procedures. The argument in favor generally posits that by reducing the training requirement, the cost of education will be lower. This will make it a more financially bearable choice, enticing people into the field, and thus relieving the (hypothetical) shortage of veterinarians by providing an alternative care-giver to the veterinarian. They also argue that it 'frees up' the veterinarian to focus on more complex cases by offloading more commonplace responsibilities, which they claim will reduce veterinarian burnout by lightening our load. The cost of care will go down, they say, because VPAs don't need to be compensated like a veterinarian.
All sounds great, right? Who wouldn't vote for something whose promoters are promising quicker and cheaper access to veterinary care?
But it's a sham. A complete, utter, disingenuous sham driven by greed.
IT WILL NOT REDUCE THE COST OF CARE:
1) Don't kid yourself - the corporations that have largely taken over veterinary medicine are not going to reduce the cost of an appointment and cut into their profit just to make it more affordable to you. They're going to hire VPAs that they pay less to replace veterinarians, and pocket the difference in salaries.
2) The cost of the consultation is a relatively small percentage of the overall bill. The remainder of the bill would be unchanged, regardless of whether you see a veterinarian or a VPA.
3) There is good data in human medicine to suggest that NPs and PAs increase the cost of care (though it is somewhat dependent on the area of practice, to be fair) through excessive use of diagnostic testing, over-referral to specialists, and potentially by increasing follow-up visits when they fail to address a problem correctly on the first interaction. There is no reason to think it would be any different with VPAs.
4) Did your cost of health care go down as NPs and PAs have expanded their role? Mine sure didn't. Corporations - especially insurance providers - have simply increased their profit.
THIS WILL NOT REDUCE VETERINARIAN BURNOUT:
1) Dealing with only complex cases is not what most general practice vets want. They enjoy some of the 'easier' cases - it's a chance to take a breath during their day and potentially bond with an owner when they see a healthy kitten for vaccines. It gives them a break between tough cases. Dealing with only complex, sicker patients is what we do in emergency medicine - and it is taxing and definitely not for everyone and the burnout rate is high. Specialists also only deal with more complex patients - but they deal with far fewer patients per day than a typical general practitioner.
2) A veterinarian would be required (by law) to oversee a VPA. So the workload reduction by transferring cases to a VPA is a wash, because now the veterinarian who would have had to see those has to review the cases from the VPA anyway. Instead of staying late to write your own charts, you get to stay late reviewing the VPA's charts!
THIS WILL BE DANGEROUS FOR PETS:
1) The master's degree required for this (created by Colorado State University, which deserves censure within the veterinary community for this - shame on you, CSU) is almost entirely online, and is highly abbreviated. There is one 2-credit course (online) on surgery, and one 2-credit lab. That's it. Four credits for surgery, and then turned loose to cut! Other areas of practice have similarly limited training.
2) VPAs would be allowed to perform surgery, including open abdominal procedures, amputations, etc. I realize that to most owners a 'spay' sounds like a very easy procedure, but it's actually not. You are removing an entire organ system from within the abdomen. Do not confuse 'routine' with 'easy'. There are many GPs who do not like to perform the procedure, and there are many patients (especially older overweight dogs) for whom it is a very difficult procedure. I have seen a third year surgery resident - i.e. someone at the end of very extensive surgical training - sweat and swear and struggle to perform a spay. Do you want someone with almost entirely online training cutting your dog? Do you think they'll know how to handle it if something goes wrong? Because things go wrong - more often than you might suspect. But trained veterinarians just adjust, deal with the problem, and move on. A VPA? Good luck!
3) Other procedures are not as easy as the supporters of VPAs are making it seem. They have specifically mentioned splenectomies, for instance. In dogs, the most common indication for a splenectomy is due to a ruptured mass where the abdomen is full of blood. These are often unstable patients who are literally bleeding out, and it is a race against time to stabilize them, open them up, stop the bleeding, and extract the spleen. It's not just about cutting the spleen out - it's about managing a patient who is bleeding to death with an elevated heart rate, decreased blood pressure, and poor oxygen perfusion: these are patients who are trying to die. Do you really want someone whose training is abbreviated and online doing that with YOUR dog? There are many, many veterinarians who don't even want to perform that procedure - it's absolutely absurd to think someone with half the training could be considered competent to do it.
4) The timeline for dealing with pet problems is often much quicker than humans. It is very easy to miss critical problems in pets because they can't talk to us and because they hide signs of illness - often by the time you realize something is wrong they are in distress. Do you trust someone trained largely online to correctly assess your pet? I don't.
5) The proposed training for a VPA consists of 65 credits, most of which is online. (I had to have 60 credits just as pre-requisites to get INTO vet school.) Vet school itself was around 200 credits plus electives (I forget how many I took, but it probably added 10-20 credits.) I have seen comments that VPAs would receive "half" the education of a veterinarian. In truth, it is actually less. So why should they be doing a veterinarian's job? Common sense says that it's silly.
THIS IS NO VETERINARIAN SHORTAGE:
1) A recent study commissioned by the AVMA concluded that there is no veterinary shortage. The perception of shortage arose during COVID when a surplus of money (and, perhaps, time) due to federal government stimulus caused a dramatic increase in veterinary visits. Those visit numbers are on the way back down. There are some veterinarians who still report excessive load, but there are many discussing how their caseload has dropped significantly. The study concluded that because of the addition of around 15 veterinary schools in the U.S. (at varying stages currently) there is likely to be an OVERSUPPLY of veterinarians within 10 years. So the the VPA proposal is solving a problem that doesn't likely exist.
2) It's true that there is a deficit of veterinary services in many rural areas. But this will not fix it because the shortage isn't from not having veterinarians interested in those locations - it's because the economics don't support a veterinarian. Since a VPA requires oversight by a veterinarian, it's a moot point - you can't have a VPA in rural Montana taking care of cattle unless there's a veterinarian already there doing it. You can't just graduate VPAs and send them to rural areas - it won't happen any more than NPs and PAs "flocked" to rural areas to solve the same problem in human medicine (free pro tip: they didn't).
3) There IS a veterinary technician shortage, which is interesting for two reasons. First, technicians are likely to be a sizable percentage of VPAs. So VPAs are likely to exacerbate the veterinarian technician shortage. And we can't function without our techs - they are the lifeblood of the hospital. Second, VPAs will need techs, too. So if there are already too few technicians - just who is going to do the tech work for VPAs? It doesn't matter how many veterinarians (or VPAs) you have - if you haven't fixed the tech shortage, you haven't increased access to care.
ADDITIONAL THOUGHTS
1) It's very telling that the proponents of this are almost entirely veterinary corporate groups. Think about that. Think really hard about that. Why would it be that a very large majority of private practitioners oppose it, but corporate interests promote it? Money. They want more. That is literally the only reason they are pushing for this - so they can reduce the number of veterinarians they employ, replace some with mid-levels, and pocket the difference in human resources costs. Do not believe them when they say that you - the pet owner - will see some of that money. When was the last time a corporation, out of the goodness of its 'heart', cut back its profit margin?
2) It's also very telling that the supporters initially tried to gain support within the industry - and failed. Then they tried a legislative approach - and failed. So now they utilized Colorado's constitution, which allows for it to be put to popular vote. In other words - experts understood it to be bad for pet and pet owners and rejected it. The legislature understood it. So they went to the public, where they can create deceitful propaganda to convince you it's in your best interests. After all, it's easy to ask leading questions like "wouldn't you like the cost of care to be cheaper?"
3) Note that the American Veterinary Medical Association opposes this. As does the American College of Veterinary Surgeons. As does the Colorado Veterinary Medical Association. As do 75% of veterinarians in Colorado. As does almost every other expert organization that has stated their position.
4) There are some excellent NPs and PAs in human medicine. And there likely would be some excellent VPAs in veterinary medicine. But it is really, really crucial to separate out anecdotal ("but I've had a great experience with my PA!") information from large-scale data. And the data doesn't lie with regard to the negative impact of NPs and PAs in human medicine. There are pockets where these 'physician extenders' have benefited health care, but overall the impact has been negative.
5) It's also important to remember that the scope of care for a typical small animal veterinarian is much larger than a typical MD, where hyper-specialization is routine. A typical small animal veterinarian functions as internal medicine doctor, anesthesiologist, surgeon, geriatrician, pediatrician, dentist, etc. Replacing that with a VPA is simply impossible without the same training.
6) As a "this would be funny if it weren't so terrifying" footnote: one of the supporters of VPAs recently suggested that the VPA position would be great for people who were unsuccessful getting into vet school. Stop and think about that for a moment - he is literally saying that someone who didn't meet the criteria to be a doctor ... should be allowed to doctor things. It's utterly insane.
This proposal will not help your pet. It will not lower your costs. It will not increase your access to care. It WILL increase the risk to your pet. It WILL increase profit for large corporations.
Vote against it.

The Different Components of a Drivesuit & The Drift
Pons Machine: The machine created and developed by Caitlin Lightcap, that allows two brains to join together into a single consciousness. Early designs of this machine looked something like skeletal clamps (or those scalp massagers, if that’s more your style), but the design was altered slightly to rest within a pilot’s helmet, allowing them to Drift with each and the Jaeger when it’s on.
Circuitry Suit: A suit that is skin tight, somewhat like a wetsuit that a surfer may use. It uses a synaptic processor mesh (synaptic is in reference to the word synapse, which is the juncture between neurons) to interface and connect with the central nervous system. The interior is designed to resemble a circuitry board woven into the black polymer material with which the suit is designed. The suit itself uses technology to read the electronic potential of muscular cells and evaluate the movement made by skeletal muscles and relay these movements and impulses to the Jaeger with a time lag close to zero, keeping the reaction speed of the machine almost equal to the speed with which the human skeletal muscles can generate impulses; however, this suit works both ways. In an effort to keep the pilots’ responses as quick and accurate as possible, pain is also transmitted by this connection, meaning the pilots can feel whatever hits a Jaeger takes.
Battle Armor: The armor that we, as the viewers, see pilots wearing when in a Jaeger. It is created of a polycarbonate substance and helps a pilot overcome the intensive physical strain placed on a human body when piloting a Jaeger. Additionally, it can protect the pilots from outside danger such as debris.
Spinal Clamps: A complex series of moving parts that is always active, as shown in the movie. When it comes into contact with a pilot’s battle armor, the spinal clamp will secure itself to the pilot’s vertebrae (or, more likely, the circuitry suit right above the vertebrae), linking the pilot’s circuitry suit to different parts of the Jaeger’s spine. The spinal clamp also connects and secures the back of the body armor.
Helmet: This is the final piece of the body armor, designed to protect the pilot’s head; however, it has many other purposes. At the point above the jaw (marked by circles on several of the designs in the movie), the helmets contain communicators that allow pilots to easily communicate verbally with each other and LOCCENT. Helmets can also provide emergency oxygen to pilots if they are trapped in a wrecked Conn-Pod or submerged in the ocean. Finally, and most importantly, the helmets of a pilot’s battle armor contain the Pons Machine necessary to Drift.
Data Relay Gel: A substance within the helmet that sends the electronic impulses of one pilot to another. While the pilot’s minds are one, they also need to have synchronized movements, so relay gel allows the detected movements from one pilot’s circuitry suits to be relayed to the other.
Mind Meld: To begin the Drifting process, the Pons Machine must be activated and the pilots must engage in the Mind Meld. This is when pilots share memories with each other, as well as emotions and instincts. During this process, pilots go silent and let the memories flow by while attempting to clear their minds of all thoughts.
R.A.B.I.T.: A Random Access Brain Impulse Trigger. “Chasing the R.A.B.I.T.” or latching onto the memory is highly discouraged, as it may cause a pilot to become trapped within a memory. While this isn’t necessarily dangerous, it has been known to translate into a Jaeger’s actions (Mako accidentally activating the Plasmacaster) and at a certain point, it becomes highly difficult to tear a pilot from the memory without forcefully disengaging the Drift.
Neural Handshake: The final step. The neural handshake allows the pilots to connect to the Jaeger and control its movements. In all situations, this process is overseen by a PPDC J-Chief LOCCENT Officer (Tendo Choi, in the movie) to ensure the connection remains stable. This step is only possible if the pilots are in an active Drift and are connected to the motion rig within the Conn-Pod.
Headspace: The space created by the melded minds of pilots in the Drift. This headspace allows pilots to communicate at extremely quick speeds.
Drivesuit Room: A room that pilots enter before boarding the Conn-Pod. Within this room, technicians help pilots into their Circuitry Suit, Body Armor, and Helmet. Because of time restrains, technicians and pilots must be prepared to deploy in seven minutes or less.
Conn-Pod: The central control system of every Jaeger. Pre-launch, Conn-Pods are detached from the Jaegers. While detached, pilots board the Conn-Pod and are secured to a motion rig, as well as a hydraulic platform. After the Drop, the Conn-Pod connects to the rest of Jaeger and opens various interfaces. Once this process is complete, pilots can view a layout of the environment around them, access a physical control panel to power the weapons, and engage in the neural handshake.
Motion Rig: The system that secures a pilot to their Jaeger. It is a mechanical cradle that connects to the spinal clamps and arms of both pilots and must be sealed in place by technicians.
Hydraulic Platform: The complex mechanical structure beneath the feet of the pilots which allows them to move the Jaeger. Additionally, this system locks the pilots’ boots into place.
