Alrighty weather stuff. Recovery is happening. It is happening slowly.

FEMA has been deployed, as has the national guard in most areas. However there is still a very very large need for on the ground volunteers and the like due to how widespread and severe the damage is.

Power is still scarce in Appalachia and will be until further notice in some parts. The power is out in several states still days after.

There's a Twitter account that has been tracking fatalities for the event, and as of yesterday, over 400 of the 1000+ missing people have been found alive.

There's still sadly a very large amount missing or dead with Helene and the aftermath.

The y'all squad (a non profit), Chris Hall, and a few others have been delivering by air and setting up starlinks in NC due to almost all service being out of commission until further notice.

Hell, Chris has been at work nonstop since Friday. He's been making missions to drive and deliver hot pizza to first responders and the hungry in areas he can reach.

Another group helping is a group of people with mules hiking up into the more mountainous regions to help those completely stranded.

It's an odd sight to see, but a needed one for some of these harder to reach areas.

Major highway i40 still closed with no timeline. There's very limited fuel even for first responders and it has been requested from disaster relief sources, no timeline as of now.

Hoping FEMA doesn't bungle this as bad as Katrina. Hoping people get the help they need. Hoping nobody else is found dead. Hoping. Hoping. Hoping.

just thinking out loud here but i feel like a lot of popular perception of kon esp in online fandom spaces is colored by his joie de vivre and all the times he's silly and goofy. which i do of course adore!! i love when he's silly and goofy. but comparing that perception to, that of like, clark or kara, i feel like kon gets shunted into the box of "dumb comic relief character" a lot more easily. lots of factors probably contribute to that (sb94 having a bad rep, while no other kon comic really goes into a lot of his tragedy; conflation with the side of the fandom that doesn't read comics; the fact that comparatively postcrisis kara doesn't have a team the way kon has yj and clark is seen as a more capable adult, so other characters in the jl get the "dumb comic relief" short end of the stick more often; etc) ...

... but what really gets me about him is that he does embody a lot of the same traits as the rest of the kryptonian superfam. he's so extremely kind. he's got that same noble heart as the rest of them; he cares about everyone and he wants to protect everyone. and he's so, so lonely. he struggles between cultures and worlds where he feels like he doesn't belong to either. he is so strong and capable and holds so much power that it scares him.

I wanted to make reference sheets for the three, even though i took a ton of inspo from many things but its for investment i promise i promise

Those three are friends in this AU, they are all in the present world and they are like a family to each other tbh, they might get into a few arguments but they talk it out later on.

To be fair i think those three would give each other kisses, not in a romantic way though, its just more of a platonic thing i guess??

The three of them own dragon type pokemon, from gen 4, 6 and 8 (me like even numbers dont mind me), i kinda felt like these pokemon fit them best by personality (im not exactly sure for 100%)

Dropping the lore here :

The only way Adaman and Irida could go back and out of Hisui was by Volo taking them with him by going through portals with Giratina, of course the two of them got frightened at the sight of Giratina showing up right in front of their eyes for the first time but they got used to it later on.

As a gift of gratitude from Volo for still being accepted by Adaman and Irida even after everything he's done in the past, he made and gave a clone of Origin Dialga and Origin Palkia to them so that they could also travel through the portals or around the world without his help (he's getting tired from babysitting them pls let him live).

Adaman and Irida just live with Lucas, Dawn and Barry in Twinleaf Town, sometimes Volo comes by to visit them and hang out with them. Lucas and Dawn dont have memories of Rei and Akari, so they have no idea of what Volo used to be back then, if they would then oh boy they would try to kill him.

{With Dialga} Adaman possesses Steel type powers (or Metal Bending as they say), he uses it a lot for combat but also for reaching high places if he cant go up there or reach it by climbing, he bends the metal into a form of a long rope in order to get up there.

{With Palkia} Irida has Water type powers (or Water Bending), she is not really the type of a person to fight but she rather heals others, it also works on pokemon too, though sometimes she can kick ass once in a while if anyone drives her mad.

{With Giratina and Arceus} Volo has all the elements, including Dark type powers but he never uses those as he only sees the bad in them and never wishes to use them, reminding him a lot of Cyrus {bro hates him more than anything}, with Volo being an Archon, he can summon pretty much every pokemon, including the legendaries and mythical ones, and the ultra beasts, even though the legendaries are gods too and are feared by many, Volo however just sees them as misunderstood creatures/beings, as he has a better bond with them than with his own people.

Volo despises humans, he only sees the bad in them as he has only seen the bad things that humans did, and with Volo being isolated in Arceus's realm and being there for about 280 years (met Arceus at 20), he cant really change his opinion about it, even if he has friends that are different than the rest of the humans, Volo still has doubts that humans are good, unless proven to him. Sure, Volo is the archon and savior of this world and he is trying his best to make the world a better with no wars or catastrophies, he hates humans, but he just wants peace, but he is aware that even if this happens one day then the peace wont last forever, the world cant remain peaceful for eternity, theres always going to be something happening all the time and he will have to deal with it on his own.

Just finished watching Jetrel, which was honestly a great episode (probably one of THE best in season one) and was thinking how cool it would have been if only there was another character in the chain of command besides Janeway that Neelix could have bounced off of that would have understood the trauma of having one's home destroyed, especially if it happened in the recent past--like about two or three years earlier and perhaps was the reason he quit Starfleet to fight for that cause or something.

Had a very detailed dream there was some new type of Mayoi-esque bsd game that was stupid popular but also involved real cash prizes and gambling, they had commercials for it. But the commercials were playing messed up and I was watching tv with a couple ppl cuddling with my cat and their new cats (they adopted cats before coming over). And the scroll bar for the text in the ad went by too fast we all misread it as Dazai's $219,000 pussy.

The dream ended in disharmony before my alarm woke me up arguing that Dazai's pussy was not worth $219,000 but what exactly was it worth? Opinions differed. Emotions started to run a bit high.
