I'mma come out here for a moment, and tell y'all a little story. My sister was getting ready to go back to college so I took her to Khols at fucking 10am to get some nice jeans for the school year. <I have done this almost erry year because I don't want her to have to stress or feel insecure in her wardrobe while working on her degree.> When I get this ten thousand league stare. My sister assumes it's the slenderman-iqueens, but no. I am disturbed by the absolute screetching, nah, the BELLOWING of a rowdy buncha howlin' heathens in shoes. Their noise permiates the very core of my being, rattling my ribs with anxiety I have never felt before. I am in a glass house watching the moon crash to earth. My little sister grabs my arm, and asks me if I'm okay. I laugh and cry at the same time looking at her in awe.

"I work thirds,"

"Y-Yeah, and?"

"It's my 3am and everyone's screaming."

We had a moment of silence, bought pants and drove home contemplating perception.

You know what's amazing about working third shift?

I can go to bed at any time during the day and no one will judge me

It vaguely hides the fact that I have insomnia and no one will question why I'm up at an odd hour, clearly I'm at work

I don't have to experience The Morning™ if I don't want to

If there happens to be a social thing during the day that I don't feel prepared for no one is going to make me go or be upset about it because I need sleep for work

If I planned something but suddenly my energy for it is nil, I can just say I didn't get that day off or they need me to come in and it's Fine. My boss is just an ass, wtf

Time is just a construct and I get to experience my day as I please and no one will give me shit for it

Most importantly, I can watch the sunrise everyday and it's beautiful

No early work hours

W I T C H I N G H O U R

The moon is an all night experience and she's also beautiful

Finally, I can be the cave gremlin I've always been inside. Dreams do come true

Not many people are up so there's no obligation to talk to them

Oh snap! Hit 10,000 steps before 7am. That's never happened. I'm up a little past my bedtime but hitting that goal this early was so worth it. Paced at my console at work, stayed after work and used the treadmill there and ended with walking laps in my backyard til I finally hit that magic number. If any of my neighbors were peeping out their windows they would have probably been a little confused or a little concerned, lol.
