thinking about akane kurashiki's hypocrisy. like, not just her telling delta "only god gets to decide who lives and dies" but also her bringing quark into the ab game.

it's okay when akane brings a child in a game where he's in danger, where he dies. it's different for her, she has grander goals than hongou ever did. it's different.

it's okay when akane gets to decide who lives and dies, after all everyone who matters lives in the end. isn't that what matters? the timeline where everyone important is okay? it's different.

it's okay when akane is zero. she had to do it, she had to survive and she had to adhere to the time loop. she has to live. it's different.

akane is already such a fascinating character to think about, she's the world's worst heroine. she cares and loves very much, she genuinely wants the best for those she cares about. she wants to save humanity even. she's genuinely justified with her actions in 999, how can you condemn them given the circumstances. and she's a hypocrite because of it all. no matter how justified or self sacrificing her actions are, it doesn't change the fact she's still a hypocrite. how utterly fascinating of a character.

Thinking of vlr Akane is so conflicting cuz on one hand I’m so upset that she doesn’t ever get a moment to just rest and enjoy being alive again I’m upset that she just gets deeper and deeper into this role she’s built for herself and she loses her humanity and will never ever be that girl who died in the incinerator. But on the other hand, I need her to get so, so much worse I need her to be so obsessed with perfection she has this unique ability to change the course of history and she will burn everything and everyone to the ground in the blink of an eye if it means she can "reset" and get a perfect timeline and I desperately need her to never be satisfied with anything because really, is there anything that’s worth all the damage she’s caused?

posted this on twt but god. i have talked a lot about how insane phi's character is to me but it's just. i will never get over how for most of both vlr and ztd she's relatively cold and unemotional but ztd has moments where she just. breaks. i.e. the shoot:live option of fire where she literally breaks down crying and can barely get a sentence out even BEFORE diana kills herself. or in the final decision when she fucking YELLS at delta and kicks him in the face not even out of reasons like with dio but out of sheer anger for everything he's put her though. like IDK. i fold easily for the "unemotional character is pushed to their breaking point and shows MUCH more emotion than usual" trope but its so fucking interesting. phi i love you we will get you therapy
