Dating Luffy Would Include

A/N: Reposting because someone mentioned that Luffy is canon!ace, so these headcanons are just Luffy being Luffy, there's not a need to call it out (Which I see the point of.)

* That’s canon

* I am convinced you guys started dating because when you guys landed at a port town, everyone went their own ways, and you and Luffy went together to eat at a busy tavern

* You’re sitting across from him, studying the menu, discussing what you're both going to get

* “This is kind of like we’re on a date,huh?” You say jokingly after he orders for you both

* Something in his head must have clicked right then, that yeah this does feel a little like a date, and yeah, he does like it

* His face breaks out into the biggest grin, “should I order some wine?”

* In his head I think drinking wine is the most date-like thing

* He orders the wine

* You’re half surprised when mid-way through the meal he gets this serious look in his eyes.

* “Can I kiss you?”

* You almost do a spit take, choking on your drink

* “Where is this coming from?!”

* If he wanted a taste of your food he could have just asked not that he ever had before though

* “I want to know what it feels like.”

* It’s a fleeting kiss, nothing more than a peck, but it brings heat to your face

* It’s also at this moment that you realize it’s gotten unusually quiet in the tavern

* You can practically feel the burn of stares

* Luffy feels nothing, instead he grins wide and says:

* “Hey (Y/N), let’s date and be partners.”

* The tavern goes wild

* “Isn’t that straw hat Luffy?”

* “Did he just ask them to be his lover?”

* With your face, as hot as the sun, hidden behind you hands, you nod

* “Okay.”

* He’s such an affectionate baby

* If you guys split up, and he meets back with you again he grins and stretches his arms out, wrapping them twice around you before tugging you towards him

* “(Y/N), I missed you!” He’ll say while nuzzling his face into your neck

* He loves it when you do that thing where you hold his face in both your hands and sprinkle kisses all over his face

* I think his kisses are pretty chaste, just quick, fluttering, pecks

* I think there’s a lot of insecurity on your end at first, because you don’t really know where you stand in his life, and how he feels about you

* He’s only got one thing on his mind — being king of the pirates

* If you had to bucket his ‘love’ in order of priority you’d say number one is himself and his version of freedom

* With his friends as a close second

* And then there you are, a seemingly distant third

Nami is initially taken aback by just how sweet you are, but she quickly warms up to the affection, especially when you officially become her boyfriend.

You likely have a million cute nicknames for her, and the act of coming up behind her, wrapping your arms around her, kissing her cheek, and calling her the most tooth-rottingly fluffy nickname has her blushing like a fool, making her day absolutely perfect.

You seem to have a sixth sense for knowing exactly when she needs a hug or a kiss. For instance, after working tirelessly to keep the crew safe from an unexpected weather event, even though she seemed fine, she's truly okay when you bring her in for a hug, holding her tight against you and praising her amazing work.

You are the only person who is not a victim of her endless amount of debt, leaving the rest of the crew jealous of you.

If you thought the jealousy stopped there, wait until the crew finds out that Nami frequently spends her money on you. She gives you so many gifts, and she is absolutely elated to show you what she got on her shopping sprees. You always respond in kind by accepting every gift with a million kisses planted across her face.

Outwardly, she is the more dominant one in the relationship, making all the calls for you, but just give her a kiss on the cheek, and watch as she crumbles apart under your touch.

No one understands how you’ve managed to get the Pirate Empress wrapped around your finger, but you did it.

She is a huge gift giver. You can’t leave her alone for one second without her coming back giving you the most extravagant gifts. And she loves that you always respond to her gifts with a smile on your face. You are just the absolute sweetest, and she adores it.

She love love loves the affection from you. You have to hold back the kissing and the cuddling unless you actually want to send her into cardiac arrest.

Boa is so protective of you and gets jealous very easily. You were nice to that random girl who said hi to you? You can't help it! It’s in your nature! Too late though, because that girl is already turned to stone. You are only hers, and you just have to accept that you can't breathe in the presence of other women unless you want them to get turned to stone.

Fallout 4 Companions Headcanons : Driving

(If I've missed a companion it's because I don't have an HC for them for this topic)

Hancock - The ultimate passenger princess. He's high 98% of the time and knows better than to operate heavy machinery.

Danse - He's a rule-follower, but sometimes, when no ones looking, he'll sneak over the speed limit and will feel like a massive rebel while doing it.

Preston - Slower than your granny on an icy road. He's the quintessential careful driver. He's courteous and always indicates, but God forbid you want to go anywhere faster than 30 miles an hour.

Deacon - Somehow manages to know all the backroutes and quick ways through town. Journey says it takes 30 minutes? He'll have you there in 10 and will have spent half of that driving round places he used to live and pointing them out to you with increasingly unhinged backstories.

MacCready - Asshole. He knows what lanes to get in to undercut traffic. He'll flip you off even when you have right-of-way. He's definitely driving uninsured and is the kinda guy to leave a note saying 'i hit your car, my bad' before driving off.

X6-88 - Rides a motorcycle and does not fuck about. Looks good in leathers (and knows it), and loves any excuse to make you scream and hang on for dear life as he zips through traffic.

Cait - She knows her way around a car and hotdamn if she doesn't look good while doing it. One hand on the wheel and the other on your knee, she's so competent its sexy. She does that one hand over your head-rest and one hand doing the turny thing when reversing. Hot.

Piper - She talks with her hands and spends more time looking at whoever she's talking to than the road. Her car is more dings and scratches than actual car at this point.

Strong - He's only interested in Monster-Trucks and smashing.

Dogmeat - He's in a sidecar being the bestest boy.

Curie - Absolutely oblivious to everything. She has no hazard awareness and tends to go pretty slow because she's too busy pointing out cute dogs. Definitely gets into a crash within a week of passing her test.

Nick Valentine - Sensible. You need someone to pick you up from the airport at 3am? Nick's your guy. He's confident but careful and would definitely pull over to help out someone broken down on the side of the road.

It is the first thought that arises in Boa Hancock's mind as she steps off her assigned Marine warship that brings her to the detested Marine headquarters. It's honestly an eyesore to stare at, nothing but uniform colors of white and blue. The shade of blue was supposedly to represent the vast ocean, but it is a mockery of it, paling in comparison.

Being a warlord was a small price to pay for the safety of her sisters and the people of her nation but as she rolls her eyes and strays away from the eyes of the men on the island, she wishes that it was someone else in her place.

(Men are dangerous. It was a man who kidnapped her and her sisters and tormented her for the past decades of her life. It was men who brought pain to the meaning of beauty. Her nightmares were filled with men who touched her and-)

"Hey, are you alright?" A cautious voice broke her out of her thoughts. Hancock straightens up, flicking a stray piece of hair away from her eyes (she must be beautiful) before huffing at the voice.

"You fools didn't assign anyone to guide me! Me! The most beautiful in the world didn't even have proper treatment!" Hancock crosses her arms. "Have the Marines sunk so low to forget simple instructions as this?"

The voice that comes next isn't filled with bumbling flirtations as expected. In fact, it almost throws Hancock off-guard when the voice's tone hasn't changed. It's still polite and slightly formal, but not derogatory.

"Pardon our mistakes, Pirate Empress," You bowed, eyes facing the floor. Hancock eyes you slightly, still taken aback by your lackluster response to her. "Let me guide you to the meeting room now."

"You better-" Her voice dies out as you raise your head and for the first time in a long time, she's starstruck with what she sees.

Your eyes are perhaps the most beautiful thing she's ever seen. They're incomparable to the greatest cuts of jewelry or to the seasons on the island that she dearly loves. The tantalizing freedom that the ocean gives her or the fire burning within as she takes revenge against all those who tormented her softens to a gentle breeze. She feels at peace being lost in your beautiful eyes. They're not even filled with the disgusting lust of men, not heart-shaped and mind-racing with crude images of what they could do if they had their hands on the beautiful, gorgeous, pirate empress.

"If you would be so kind as to follow me," You gesture to the corridor on the right and swiftly move forward. Hancock follows behind until your steps are aligned. She's afraid as you were still a man, but slightly less anxious about you. (What is she doing, fraternizing with the enemy? It was a man who led her life into a life of destruction and pain-)

Your voice cuts through the silence, previously punctuated by the steps of her heels and your Marine standard boots. "Are you perhaps wondering about my response to you?"

Her first response is to fight you for what you said. How dare you assume her thoughts! Then, she realizes that yes, she was still curious about it so she withholds her blood-lust and nods. "Y-Yes..."

You smile and her heart skips a bit. Seas and skies, you were breathtaking. "I do think you are beautiful, that is undeniable."

Hancock's steps falter and her leg muscles tense, in preparation to flee.

"But I do not find any urges to be so crude and lust-hungry," You shrug and smile again. "I do want to apologize for the behavior of my fellow Marines though. They are sometimes a bit...vulgar."

"Crude is the least of it," Hancock spits out and you nod, eyes darkening. "Men have done worse in the name of lust and I've seen it with my own eyes."

"Sometimes I just want to rip their eyes out of their sockets," You hiss under your breath. She watches as you fist your hands in anger, but not to lash out at her. To your comrades. Mild respect blossoms within her. "And they dare call themselves beholder of justice and proud Marines."

She smiles because being with you is like breathing fresh air for the first time. "At least one Marine is good."

You grin back boyishly and the odd rhythm of her heartbeat beats louder in her ears.

The familiar double doors grow larger as you both approach it with steady footsteps. Hancock mourns the lack of a good conversationalist, soon to be replaced with idiots like Doflamingo and Sengoku, when she could have kept conversing with you. You step forward, opening the grand doors for her like a gentlemen should.

"Until we meet again, Pirate Empress," You bow one last time, giving her your biggest smile yet. "It was lovely to meet and chat with you."

She almost forgets to respond, taken aback once more by the loveliness of your smile. She pauses just at the entrance of the room before giving you a shy smile. Her cheeks burn.

"Goodbye, Mister..." She trails off and blushes from embarrassment. How rude of her! She speaks so highly of you in her head yet doesn't know your name.

"(M/N) (L/N)," You say, standing up from your bow and tipping your Marine hat to her. "Shall we meet again as swiftly as the seas and wind themselves."

"May the waves be kind to you too," She curtsies before entering. Hancock's in much of a daze afterwards but Doflamingo's drawl makes her realize for the first time what her symptoms meant.

Racing heartbeat, irregular beating of the blood in her veins. Burning and blushing of the cheeks. The way she kept replaying your smile and the crystal clear sight of your eyes-

Of course, my dear, she is a fascinating character, in fact, she is my favorite female character after Nico Robin, I am weak to black haired women with cool powers and sad past.

Yandere Boa Hancock headcanons

• Brave of you to assume that she is not a yandere in the canon, that is, she has all the points to follow for her character to be a yandere, especially a delusional yandere

• sad past with traumatic events, no friends, position of power, no one contradicts her, she gets lost in her own fantasies, lives in her own reality and obsesses over a person beyond what is sanely possible, yeah she checks all the marks 

• But, she would only become obsessed with her romantic interest if he has a very specific personality (for example, Luffy)

• Ok, let's say that the key for her to fix her eyes on you is that you have heroic tendencies, that is, she likes people with a good heart, willing to do what others would consider crazy in order to help others. the others (such as hitting a Tenryūbito, better yet, killing one)  

• or just a very kind person with a great charisma, very positive mind but who doesn't take shit from anyone

• if things happened naturally, I'm pretty sure Hancock would be obsessed with a woman, Luffy is an exception to the rule (call it the power of the script thanks to being the protagonist of the series)

• Let's remember that the first men in her life that she met were the Tenryūbito and they are the worst experiences that a young woman like Boa could have, emotionally, physically and sexually (I'm 200% sure that she was raped by a good number of them, that's why despite being in love with Luffy she never sees herself having children with him… probably she can't even get pregnant due to irreparable damage to her sexual organ or simply they removed the ovaries so that she could not get pregnant by the Tenryūbito since she was a slave and the slaves are not worthy of having a child with a being as noble as a Tenryūbito is)

• Anyway, when she fixes her eyes on you, in her head she already begins to live in a world apart

• You've probably seen each other a maximum of five times and most of it in battles, possibly you saved her from some dangerous situation but not paying much attention to her, but in her head, you two are already engaged

• Yes, she is the type of women who, from a very young age, dreamed of getting married and having a large family full of love, a dream that has been transformed into only having a partner to love and be loved by because of the Tenryūbito and all their shit

• She is a relatively easy yandere to deal with, since the word of her s/o is divine law for her, she will never question you, nor will she go against you, she will not hesitate to put herself in danger or give her life for you, she literally will kill for you

• But, keep in mind, she is very jealous and in an unjustified way, nobody can look at you because she is already asking questions and imagining scenarios where you abandon her.

• Because, despite all that she says about being the most beautiful woman in the world, she actually has low self-esteem due to her past as a slave, she doesn't feel that she is worthy of you, because she is dirty

• But if you tell her that you are not interested in that person or deny knowing about the existence of the person who made her jealous, she will believe you without a shadow of a doubt.

• You can tell her that the sky is green and for her, yes, ultimately the sky is green and she will turn anyone who says otherwise into stone

• She is a stalker, she will follow you everywhere and will always be watching you, of course, at a respectful (Hinata-Naruto style) distance if the two of you get into a relationship, she will stick to you like gum, she is unbelievably clingy and has no idea of the meaning of personal space

• She is one of the few yanderes who have no sexual intentions, because she is traumatized with sex (she has never known about vanilla sex or consent) and considers it torture, she loves you too much to do you any kind of harm

• Oh, but if she were to get over her traumas and discover that sex can be enjoyed and is a way to stay connected to the one she loves, man, get ready for a long ride

Thinking about Marine Luffy’s dynamic with the 7 warlords and it's one of the funniest things ever.

Boa Hancock is going to get her own post because I have SO MUCH to say about her and Canon! Luffy along with Marine Luffy’s dynamic with her.

Anyway, personal headcanons of what I think Marine Luffy and the Warlords dynamics are.

Doflamingo: Luffy is usually the one who during Warlord meetings has to deal with Doflamingo’s bullshit. This is partially because Luffy is the only thing that really puts the fear of god back into Doflamingo. Also, Marine luffy is absolutely feral, and terrifying, and does indeed bite. I think in some twisted ways Luffy in this AU reminds Doflamingo of when he's younger. In some fucked up way of trying to cope with trauma Doflamingo tries to simulate situations that he went through as a kid to see how Luffy reacts. To see if things had been a bit better, if things had been different, if Doflamingo could have been a better person. The Dressrosa Arc still happens in this AU except a bit later. As Doflamingo’s tyrant rein finally falls he realizes that “huh maybe we never were that similar…”

(I have no idea if this AU is a Crocomom AU or not but I’ll go ahead and write up how it would go in either situations.)

Crocodile: Dynamic is definitely more cold and distant than in an AU where Crocodile is Luffy’s other parent. Luffy is seen as a threat, and Crocodile has at least 15 different drawn-up plans on how to deal with him. (none of these plans would actually work in practice.) The dynamic is pretty much just business, you leave me be I’ll leave you be.

Crocomom: Similar to the first one. Except the first time he meets Luffy and he hears that he's Garp's grandkid he's freaking the fuck out. Because holyshit, that's his alive, grownup, kid. Crocodile has no idea how to explain to Luffy that like “hey im your biological mother, now a man, hahaha…” So Crocodile simply doesn't. (The two of them do have a heart-to-heart much later alone in Impel down during the breakout.)

Moria: Honestly I don't have much to say about him. Luffy absolutely hates Hogback and Absolom though. So Luffy has a dislike for Moria and what he does. But Moria out of all the warlords not including Kuma is the easiest to deal with, so that earns him some brownie points.

Kuma: Im not sure if you caught up with the latest chapters. (specifically his backstory chapters) so I will be staying silent for now as not to spoil anything for you.

Mihawk: Mihawk is both intrigued and concerned at the beginning. Because that is Shank’s hat, and Shank’s kid. Why is Shank’s brat in the Marines?? Mihawk also like all the other warlords tends to use Luffy as some form of a coping mechanism. It's not uncommon to hear about Luffy and Mihawk getting into another physical fight. But after a while, Mihawk does realize that he has been accidentally treating Luffy as if he is Shanks. Mihawk realizes that he can't force Luffy to become his new sparring partner. Luffy is not Shanks, and he can't fill that hole either. After Marine Ford Mihawk reads the news regularly, a rare grin on his face whenever he catches sight of a straw hat.

Jinbei: That is Luffy’s emotional support parental figure your honor! The only one who is normal, safe, and sane. Also, the only one to look at Luffy and go “Are you okay?? I don't think healthy humans are supposed to act like that.” Also, the one to get Luffy to open up and heal slowly after Marineford. Also Luffy definitely knows the full truth of what happened to Fisher Tiger in this AU, so yeah that's something.

I love how with each dynamic all of them are also like, 'alright this kid is fucked up, keep an eye on him' but for different reasons

So here are some of my thoughts on what Marine Luffy’s relationship is with the warlords (love yours so much)

Crocodile : so unfortunately not a coco-mom au, like you said their relationship is strictly business, Luffy doesn't really care for the warlords as long as they don't get in his way.

Domflamingo : Luffy finds him kinda annoying so he tries to avoid any situation where he would meet him, unfortunately he can't at warlord meetings, but he's tried, probably one of the only warlords Luffy wouldn't mind punching out of the blue, dude would punch him without reason (gets away with it too)

Kuma : (no sadly not that far yet but I know a bit of his background not much though) but Luffy likes him

Moria : almost the same relationship as Domflamingo, except he just straight up avoids him, unless he has to deal with Moria then he will and he'll do it quickly

Mihawk : one of the few warlords Luffy actually respects, he admires his fighting and his character, granted it annoyed him a bit to constantly be reminded of Shanks, like you said he also like the other warlords used luffy as some form of coping, but after he realized what he did he stopped and him and Luffy kinda became like gossip buddies, like they'd hang out whenever Mihawk was in the area, but Luffy wouldn't actively seek him out, Mihawk would have to come to him if he wanted someone to talk to or spar with,

Jimbe : only warlord and person that Luffy actually likes from the warlords, yes he likes Mihawk, but Jimbe is different, Luffy has a sort of awe for Jimbe and felt very honored to know about him and his past with Fisher Tiger, Jimbe is the only one who knows that Luffy secretly wishes he was a pirate instead of a Marine, when Jimbe asked why Luffy didn't just become a pirate now Luffy replied saying that he's made so many promises to the people he protects that he doesn't want to go back, not now at least, Jimbe is also the only one who knows about Ace and Sabo and how much Luffy misses them and how proud he is of them

I’m sorry if it’s too much, you can do one character if it’s easier for you if you like.

Buffaloman, Kinnikuman, Brocken Jr, Warsman x F!Chojin S/O HCs

Buffaloman

Talk about a powerhouse couple, my goodness! Buffaloman acknowledges her strength and beauty only when he wants others to know just how amazing his SO is. He’s not the best at expressing his feelings directly to his partner at times but he dares anyone to question her ability. Because he will make it a known fact exactly how he feels about her as if that is the only fact that exists in the world.

He finds her power to be unique and impressive to witness being unleashed against her opponents. Almost taking a bit of selfish pride in her abilities. Maybe this is partly because he spars with her so he knows just how good she can be in the ring and out of it. He values that his partner is also smart as well. She’s not one to be easily out bested and I pray for you if you disgrace her in any way because the first person you’d have to answer to will be Buffaloman. He will not stand for anything less than respect for his partner and doesn’t care who you are. There are no exceptions.

Kinnikuman

If this woman has the same power Boa does, their first meeting results in him turning to stone. He’s weak, WEAK to her charms and looks he cannot help but fall for her on first meeting. Begs her to be his fangirl because how could she no? They would make such a gorgeous and powerful duo! Of course she’d say yes!

Everyone who knows them is baffled why a smart and beautiful Chojin would be with someone like Kinnikuman. If asked about their relationship she most likely will give the reasoning of “he makes me laugh and feel loved” because it’s true! He’s a silly guy with a big heart and even though there are times she feels unsure of depending on him, Kinniku will be there for her when she needs him most. He’s the type to show off and brag about how wonderful his SO is to anyone who’d listen (and those who won’t suffer a bit). They have the “yapper and listener” dynamic as she happily sits and listens to him boast about his victories and make him sound so much cooler in his retelling then the actual events. She knows what’s true and what’s false but she lets him give his version because she adores listening to him regardless of the accuracy.

Brocken Jr.

Being on the younger, less experienced side, I feel like Brocken Jr. also ran into the unfortunate fate of getting turned to stone by his (future) SO. I feel it was a bit more involved than Kinniku, in the sense it wasn’t on sight as much as simply a moment of weakness. He’s kinda embarrassed about it to this day but is a good sport about it when his friends tease him for it. Cause who can blame him, his SO is indeed gorgeous. Outside of that incident, Brocken is very respectful and proud to be his SO’s partner. He is quick to cheer her on in the ring and first to be there if something happens. He wants to be their support, someone she can turn to when there’s trouble or concern.

Something sweet between them that they share is a love of reading. When not training for the next battle, the two will read books and often exchange titles to see what the other thinks of the work. I can imagine they don’t always like the same genres in books but enjoy the recommendations and give it a fair chance to see what their partner enjoys. It’s sweet.

Warsman

How Warsman and his SO got together is another interesting story I’d imagine. He’s a lot more reserved (and shy) when it comes to getting together with a partner so I feel his SO had to make some first moves. Warsman has a lot of internal struggles he deals with and when he thinks about how strong, smart, and attractive his SO is he feels little…less then. He doesn’t feel she does this to him at all, he just wants her to have the most deserving partner. And sometimes he worries he’s not enough physically to deserve her. Whenever these feelings start to show, his partner is quick to course correct it. Holding his face lovingly in her hands and giving sweet, gentle promises of love and devotion to him. So many it makes his heart swell with love and adoration, “I don’t deserve you…” But hearing that gentle “You do. You deserve me and all the love I can give you, if not more…” Finally those nasty doubts that plague his mind go silent. He’s thankful and shows it through thoughtful gestures. He will do what he can to show his love and gratitude in any way he can. And sometimes it results in being protective of her over the smallest things. He’s quick to be defensive of his partner from any negative comment from the crowd during a match or any physical harm that might come at her. He knows she’s strong and capable but it doesn’t mean she should face the world alone (she wouldn’t let him do it so it’s only right he does the same for her) If she needs anything of him, she only needs to ask and it’s done.

Cait; Poor Cait has such confusing, odd writing choices that I can’t blame anyone for doing this, but...when she’s boiled down to either Tough Irish Gal or Traumatized, with little dimension. Again, Bethesda does this themselves in text, depending on ??? so it’s not, like, a big deal. My advice for writing Cait is to remember that she exists outside of being Irish or Traumatized. She’s read/read about Freud, for example. So, she presumably learned to read, likely self-taught. If she read something psychology related, she must have taken an interest in it. That sort of thing. The best way to write Cait is to not take the obvious answer, because Cait’s depth itself isn’t obvious.

Curie; When people write Curie as a stupid, horny, smol bean 2 gud 4 dis world, i throw up in my mouth. Same as Cait, this is Bethesda’s fault. They have a habit of going for funny dialogue instead of sensible. There is no reason for Curie to say half the shit she does, she says it because someone thought it was funny, or worse, sexy. I’d recommend going through Curie’s likes/dislikes and dialogue even more so than I do other companions. Curie has a lot of edges if you go looking for them. Y’know Covenant? Curie supports Covenant. Also, she’s literally a robot in a human body. She’s 200+ years old, too. Make her fucking weird. Y’know how elves/fae are? Like that. Bonus if you make her friendliness off-putting. Being friends with a doctor gets annoying, speaking from personal experience. Also, being a doctor, she knows all about sex and sexual pleasure. She’s not confused what a dick is

Hancock; please acknowledge other aspects of his character beyond horny, sad, or high. He has them, I swear. Do you even know his parents’ names? No. You care only about ghoul dick or stoner jokes. He’s not even a stoner, he does the Fallout equivalent of meth/adderall. Much like Deacon, he does and thinks about other shit. I joke with Hancock as well, but you might notice that none of my actual reacts/headcanons open and close with shit like “he huffs some jet with one hand, fingers you with the other, and thinks about how he sucks”

Danse; i promise you, Paladin Danse is not hypervigilant of people’s asses/tits/dicks/whatevers. He’s not imagining having sex with your busty Sole every time he looks at them. That’s not just not Danse, it’s also very creepy and dehumanizing to both Danse and Sole. Is Sole not more than their tits? Other companions get the too-horny treatment as well, but I see Danse getting it worse of all. Sometimes he’s written as absolute manchild regarding sex, knowing literally nothing, same as Curie. I say Danse doesn’t know what jerking off is as a joke, but he probably knows. But Chronic Virgin Danse is usually a light-hearted joke, Hypersexual Danse is just fucking weird. It gets into unhealthy territory. Like...Danse wouldn’t want to fight people flirting with his crush. He wouldn’t even get aggressive if he was dating Sole. He’s not a hotheaded asshole. Annoyed at best, rude at worst. It’s giving Fifty shades/Twilight/After. 

Deacon; You guys know that when Deacon takes a shit, he isn’t dedicating it to Barbara, right? He isn’t dedicating it to his own redemption, or saving synths? He isn’t thinking up a cool lie to make about the shit-taking? When he has a drink of water, he isn’t like, “Barb used to drink water.” or “The U.P Deathclaws drank water” or “I’m gonna say I killed a behemoth with a water bottle!” Deacon has other thoughts and motivations beyond the meme or the sad. I can’t judge too much, because Deacon himself would approve of being thought of like this, but good god. Just let the dude be a dude sometimes. Let him shit in peace. 

MacCready; might be because he’s the most solidly written, but very few complaints with most MacCready stuff. Him being a little perverted is in character, he’s 22. However, I have seen people straight up forget Duncan and Lucy. It’s okay, though. So did Bethesda.

Nick; Also usually solid, the most common crime is that aforementioned After Shades of Twilight writing. Nick is not a possessive dude. He’s even less likely than Danse to get aggressive over his partner. Yeah, sure, he’s a cop, but is that really the fantasy you want? Really? 

Piper; I have...famously strong opinions on Piper, but good god. Blue this, Blue that, I’m gonna write about this, this’ll look good in my paper, I’m putting this in the news. Oh my God. You’d think Sole was a fucking SMURF with how many writers call them Blue. You’d think Piper dragged her writing press behind her like Sisyphus heaving his boulder along. Same as Deacon and Hancock, SHE DOES OTHER SHIT. People bend over backwards trying to work in the fact she’s a reporter. Same as Cait, the obvious is not interesting. 

Preston; fuck the settlement jokes, I hate it when Preston is turned into an UwU soft boy baby cinnamon roll 2 gud 4 dis world UwU sunshine sweetie pie cutie. Whenever someone does this, they don’t actually like Preston. They have no thoughts, no feelings, they just...I don’t know, want to be contrarion to Preston haters? “Imagine not liking Preston, couldn’t be me ;333″ you realize this is racist, right? X6-88; SPEAKING OF FUCKING RACISM. The highest discourse I’ve seen around X6 is calling it ableist to HC him as autistic, but that is NOT the biggest issue with X6 writing. X6-88 is best described as, like, a very expensive, very spoiled cat of a rich, Old Money asshole. You know the Evil Stepmother’s cat in Cinderella? That bitch. That’s X6 in a nutshell. That’s how you write X6. Hello goobers. Have some Hancock headcanons that refuse to leave my brain. (I spent far too long condensing this I have so many hcs for this man)

pansexual he/they king. I refuse to believe this ghoul has made a decision ever. Like, look at him. He screams "I DO NOT CARE. IF IT HAS A HOLE AND CAN CONSENT, GIVE IT TO ME." Same goes with pronouns. He prefers he/him, but they/them is also a-okay. I reckon he picked it up from KLE0, who introduced him to the concept of ~gender identity~. I don't rlly like the poly hc that some people have bc I feel after what happened with McDonough, he's scared of betrayal, and having more than one (serious) partner at a time feels eerily similar to the feeling he got when he realised his own brother went against him.

Hes only in his late 20s/VERY early 30's. Maybe like, 29? I like to think he was only 18 or so when McDonough pulled his stunt, and that's why he turned to drugs. Being young and stupid, he didn't know what else to do.

Daisy is like a second mother to him. After his mum died, Hancock fell into a deep depression, which Daisy helped pull him out of. She also raised him when Martha was working, and would teach him and McDonough how to read, write, etc. Probably made him play an instrument at one point. Because of her, Hancock has just about the neatest handwriting you'll ever see. His f's and t's have little flicks and his i's are dotted with little x's.

He had an obsession with photography for a while. When he'd black out on chems, Hancock would forget most of his nights. This was a good thing for a while; it helped him escape his reality, but after waking up with a Deathclaw egg in his hands, buck naked and in a tree, he decided to start recording everything he did. If you look under the couch in his office, there's several albums from previous benders. Whenever you come across a camera he gets all excited and starts spewing facts about the make, model, and specs. Probably used the entirety of the Commonwealths film supply.

He's a sucker for compliments. Like, he'd probably die if you called him handsome. Being a ghoul, its pretty uncommon for him to be called anything other than an irradiated freakshow. So, even if its just an offhand "You look nice today", the chance of him melting would be pretty damn high. One time, Sole called him a work of art and he didn't stop smiling for an entire month. He still thinks about it. If romanced, Sole leaves little notes with compliments around their house for him to find. Before meeting Sole, Hancock would often brush off any form of positivity by going "They're being ironic." and on several occasions has admitted to regretting his choice of becoming a ghoul. This isn't true in the end, because, in his words "If I hadn't done everything I did, you wouldn't be in my life." Bonus: Hancock's really smart. This is actually canon as he has the second highest intelligence stat of any companions, but he acts like an absolute dumbass. Like, sometimes he'll ask Sole what 2 + 5 is, and then sometimes he'll write an entire thesis on the etymology of his name in an afternoon. The dumbest, smartest ass on this side of the seaboard.

Hancock As A Dad

A part of him doesn't think he deserves to care for someone in a fatherly way. I mean, just look at where he lives- look at his life choices, does someone like that really deserve to have that much responsibility in someone else's life?

He shelters you a lot more than you'd think. Drugs? What are drugs? Papa just has a bit of schizophrenia and needs to take his meds. He can try can play it off as much as he wants, but the only people he's fooling are the ferals down the road. He can try to shield you from certain things from the outside world, but he partakes in too much of it himself for it to really be effective.

Sure, he's an addict, but he ain't a deadbeat. Hancock's the type to show up to anything important to you. You've decided to start up a new shop in Goodneighbor? Consider him your first customer! Just bought a new gun and want to test it out in an alley? He'll be right behind you, doing his best to help you aim! He's there to support in any way he can, no matter what it is.

He's always going around telling people that you're his kid. It's just a constant flow of, "You see that one? That's my kid! :)"

Despite how he feels toward McDonough, he'd never want to send too much ill intent his way. He tones down his hatred for his brother a lot when you're around, only because he feels that he's your uncle, whether the two of you are related or not. Family's important to him, and he rather you come up with your own opinion rather than him tell you how you should feel.

Ruffles your hair whenever you do something he's proud of.

He's not overprotective by any means, but if anyone ever were to start pushing you around, he'd gladly rough 'em up for you.

He loves it when you talk about your interests with him. It makes him all fuzzy inside and helps give him better ideas on how to involve himself with those activities more often. He loves being a part of your life, especially when it involves your passions.

Most of the residents in Goodneighbor will wave and greet you by name. It holds the same energy as if a family friend were to come over for dinner.

It might be slightly ironic, and he fully understands how it might seem, but you aren't allowed to do drugs till you're at least 30. He'd hate for you to ruin your life so early. Live a little, then he might reconsider.

He'll take you out to one of the settlements and teach you to throw knives. Just something fun for the two of you to do outside. He might even tell you tales of his own childhood.

He throws the best pity parties. If you're ever feeling depressed, he'll lock the doors leading to his room, and he and Fahrenheit will do everything they can to distract you. They'll play games (mostly chess), give you a bit of alcohol, or even just sit out on the balcony and people-watch.

He's one of the most gently honest people there is. He'd never lie to you, and he sure as hell wouldn't ever want anything he says to come off as rude, so you end up with these incredibly sincere statements laced with the sweetest tone.

Hype man?? Bro is always ready to spit compliments at you whenever you need them. It's almost impossible to feel insecure with a father figure like him constantly checking in on you.

Hancock loves you to bits and wouldn't know what to do with himself if you ever disappeared from his life. He wants the best for you and would do everything he can to ensure that you're happy.

Hancock Chem Headcanons

I've been seeing a lot about Hancock lately, and other Fallout characters, that partake in The Chems TM and their reasons besides for the memes, and I would like to share my headcanons with everyone on Hancock. Since I've been writing this fanfic series with him for a few years now, I've had a ton of time to really think about the way I view his chem usage and why he does what he does.

He has high intelligence but doesn't like to get lost in his own thoughts. Not the worries, not the theories, not the what-ifs, not the nagging fears, or the way he talks down about himself. He's kinda like a case of "he had so much potential; if only he would apply himself." He doesn't want to apply himself, whether it has to do with past traumas or deep-seated fears.

Chems had other benefits besides just getting high. In my FF, he began taking chems because they were beneficial. It was his first job, delivering packages house to house in Diamond City, and Buffout helped him carry heavier packages across town. Chem use easily got out of hand. Later, spiked goods entered the mix. It's pretty believable since the player character uses chems in certain situations to get an edge. There were, of course, other people in his life that were chem users.

Because he enjoys it. And we all know that too much of something is a bad thing. But anytime I ask someone "why do you smoke? Why do you vape? Why do you smoke pot or eat edibles? Why do you drink?" I usually get a simple answer: "Because I like it and I want to," and sometimes mixed with, "to knock the stress off." Hancock is a mayor, so he probably stays a little stressed, too.

Chems make him more fun. After you've been doing something like this for a while, you tend to "not be yourself" when you haven't had your substances. People like Hancock in Goodneighbor because he, quote, "knows how to sling and shoot up like the next guy, and he doesn't put himself above them." So another reason he could be doing chems is simply because he wants to remain likable, especially since he has a low opinion of himself already.

He would do less chems if he stayed busy/distracted. I see Hancock as the kind of person that needs constant distraction, and he functions best when he's with someone that keeps his mood up. Not that he wouldn't take chems when he realizes he hasn't had any in a while; it's more like he just doesn't think about them. When you can hold him in a conversation, give him something to do to keep his hands or mind busy, or keep him laughing and engaged, he just reaches for the Jet and Mentats a lot less.

Note: Ghoulism makes you immune to a lot of things. Aging is incredibly slow, disease has no effect on you, radiation heals you, and you don't benefit from eating (e.g. Billie in the fridge). My headcanon is that it would take a lot to get Hancock high. His tolerance escalated after the ghoulification. And if he goes clean for longer than a day, any addictions he had would fall off. I imagine that this would irritate him, though. "Not as easy as it used to be," he'd say while chasing a new, crazier high.

Having said that, I'm not an expert on neither Law or One Piece meta I've just jumped back to One Piece (I stopped watching around 2009-2010) during 2022 so...Literally I'm just another Law/Heart Pirates/Cora-san fan in this little corner of the internet.

Having said that...I'm a person on the aroace spectrum that headcanons Law as also on the aroace spectrum. In fact, I have written a fic headcannoning Law as aroace spec. That is to say that my answer to this question will be the type of answer an aroace person would answer. I do not think any trauma stops anyone about thinking about one thing or the other. But hey I also think that people thinking that romance and love can fix trauma do not understand how PTSD works and that's fine it is a complex subject. Though admitedly, this is fiction and Law is a fictional character and anyone might have any type of headcanon about him, free country.

At the same time I think people often forget the most relevant emotional repercussion of Law's trauma is his political position which for me it seems, is more important for him than any possibility of a romantic entanglement. His interpersonal relationships are profoundly influenced by his political thoughts. Including Cora-san. He has surrounded himself with people who have also been fucked by the World Government or by structures such as toxic biological family (it is the case of Shachi) any type of specism (Bepo) or slavery (Jean Bart). This people get him right? He is for sure antisystem and anti imperialist and literally wants to blow up the system. So I think those relationships would be more important for him than thinking about romantic love. I have to say that for me the fact that he was unaffected by, for instance, Boa Hancock and has never shown any romantic interest is quite acearo coded to me. And as the post of @l-in-the-light says I think what he truly values is his platonic bonds. Again I truly recommend the post @l-in-the-light made about this because it is beautifully expressed. Having said that I'm super surprised that my post to the void is being reblogued. Jeezzz to many emotions on one day! Thanks for your ask and sorry for not being of much help!

Could I request a imagine/headcanon/whatever you are willing, on non Sole reader who is a synth and either escaped the institute somehow, and ends up finding Hancock or stumbling upon good neighbor. He quickly gains a liking for them and looks out for them, teaching them about the current world as they were created in the institute with no memories before. Eventually, maybe romance? A synth and a ghoul!

Hancock rolled over to lay on his side and gave you a lazy smile. "What did you miss?"

You put your hand on his waist and drew shapes, looking at him with a fond smile, "I love you."

"You said that a lot." He laughed.

"I needed to say it one more time."

He batted away your hand and moved to be on top of you. "I think I need to hear it a few more times." Leaning down and kissing you long and lazy.

It made you laugh and mumble against his lips, "I love you... I love... you... love you,"

How long you were there was not important. Never is. So when he pulled away he looked down he saw you and laughed, "You're so beautiful."

"Oh, still after all this time." You tease.

"You look," His eyebrows knitted. "Like the first day I met you." It was a weird way to say it but his face said it was because something he realized. You had never thought about it, no one wants to get old, but now it hit you like a bus. "You look exactly like the day I met you."

The rest of the day you both were a bit out of it because you both knew, just refused to say it. Others noticed and neither of you answered them, it was nothing. How could he say something? It seemed like you were tailor made for him so maybe that was true. How could you say anything? You could be a spy and no one would know, you don't know. And that happened the next day and the next until Hancock cornered you in the bedroom and you had an argument. "It doesn't matter."

You looked at him wary. "Of course it does. I might be- not safe."

"Please, I'm not going to let you leave."

"You've never done that and you never will." You always know when he was bluffing, you just wished this was a game of poker.

"You're not dangerous. If you were I think you would have killed us. How many time have you saved us, or just me? The raiders and mutants had almost done it and how many times have you been the reason we lived through those?"

"That's all the more reason I'm dangerous. Think about the damage I could cause if someone got into my brain. I want you safe."

"And I need you with me to do that." In his frustration he lunged forward and kissed you. You pushed him away and his face scrunched up. He couldn't shed tears but he was crying, sobbing. "Just stop talking. You're not going to hurt me and no one will ever to get you. There's nothing in this world that can change that."

"That's not true."

"Then let's pretend it is." He let go of you and sunk to the floor his arm hugging himself in. His crying was dry and hurt in a million ways. You wanted to leave, it was the most responsible thing to do. You swore to protect him and staying with him could be something bad, that he would always be unsafe. But he was begging for something you wanted, that could be bad. So from then on it didn't matter.

this one's uhh. a lot i have a lot of feelings about fallout 4 companions and character dynamics. i dont know why like half of this is just about nukaworld but it is

Ruby Rockett - Sole Survivor of 111

Nicknames: "Bullseye" (The Railroad. canon). "Blue" (Piper. canon. She hates this. I want her to have a really snarky counter nickname for Piper but I can't think of anything. maybe "Batter" because she lives in a baseball stadium but that doesn't seem rude enough lmao). "Ru" (headcanon, mostly Deacon and Hancock. deacon started it. hancock picked it up from him. macready tries to use it sometimes but it always feels awkward when he does it, somehow).

Hates being called "the Vault Dweller." she never lived in the vault. as far as her conscious experience goes, she was only trapped there long enough to watch her husband die.

"Rockett" isn't her real last name. she picked it up as a nickname that eventually became the surname she goes by, due to her hobby of collecting red rocket toys and her love for nuka cherry

doesn't really like being called "General" and prefers the minutemen just use her name (though "general rockett" does sound pretty cool). She mostly tolerates it, but does get irritated if she's discussing something personal with Preston and he uses "General."

ruby is mildly triggered by being called "boss" after nukaworld (once had an argument with gage over the title even before everything went wrong, accusing him of not actually knowing her name. he did, but refused to stop anyway)

headcanons on companions and nicknames:

deacon doesn't bother to use her codename anymore unless desdemona is around. usually calls her "ru" which led to her calling him "dea." he once joked they should have a kid and name it rudy

deacon never told her his real name, and she assumes she'll never know. she doesn't really care, though. as far as she's concerned, whatever name you ask to be called is your name and that's all that matters

ruby has never felt quite right calling hancock by his name; innuendo jokes aside, "hancock" sounds too formal, but "john" just feels wrong entirely. she also doesn't know or care to know what his real name is if he doesn't care to share it. mostly just calls him "honey" or similar terms these days and it makes him feel soft

curie had a hard time breaking her habit of calling ruby "madame" or "miss ruby" at first, and has now settled mostly into "my darling" (ruby's very polyamorous ill get into that later)

codsworth still calls her "miss ruby" - shaun (synth shaun.) calls him "uncle codsworth" which utterly delights him

ruby uses preston garvey's first name, not his last name. he usually calls her by first name, but does also call her "General" at times. she doesn't love it but doesn't usually mind too much

genuinely finds Piper's "Blue" nickname extremely offensive. the vault may have saved her, but it was never her home. it's the place she was trapped and forced into cryostasis. the place where her husband was murdered. the place her son was taken from her. nobody ever "dwelled" there other than the scientists trivializing the rights and human dignity of her family and friends, and now it's nothing but a tomb. piper's decided to nickname her after the worst moment of her life and it's Not Cute (seriously is anyone else bothered by this. the game never gave me any opportunity to call her out on it so i dont know if she would stop if this was explained to her but it seems like an awful thing to do to someone. it would make sense for the fallout 3 protag but the fallout 4 protag never actually was a vault dweller)

current plot status: Completed main storyline (Railroad and Minutemen) and a ton of sidequests. Completed Nuka World (played along until the raiders started moving in on the commonwealth, then i just. went open season on them).

Faction Info:

Minutemen: The General. Has supported them and fought with them from day one; she was initially hesitant about accepting the position of General, but has come to embrace it. Believes in their cause and supports them proudly. Close friends with Preston.

The Railroad: Agent Bullseye. Became a passionate ally and freedom fighter from the moment she ran across them in the old north church. Considers them like family. Very close with Deacon. Was deeply affected by the loss of Glory. Heavily regrets the Institute raid, however; she feels the weight of the innocent deaths and loss of technology and resources on her every single day.

The Institute: Now destroyed, and she feels its her fault, even though she never supported the decision. Briefly worked with them at first in a vain hope that Shaun's offer to hand leadership over to her could be a chance to make amends, to use the Institute's resources for the good of the people and make a real difference in the world. But then it all came crashing down. Never once even entertained the thought of betraying the Railroad, however.

The Brotherhood of Steel: She was neutral toward them (and helped them at the police station, knowing nothing about them other than that they needed help) but had no interest in joining, put off by their culture and beginning to pick up on the hostility from other groups. When they raided the Railroad, she was hurt, angry, and confused; she went through with the plot to take down the Prydwen, seeking vengeance, but felt nothing but emptiness and regret after it fell. She can't get the image of a young boy she met during the infiltration out of her head. (( to be honest i didnt know anything about the brotherhood and was completely blindsided by the raid. i didnt even know we were enemies. they killed glory and i dont even know why. ive started following along with some of their quests on another file and it seems like they believe synths should all be destroyed, so i guess that's where the issue was. ))

Nuka World: It's Complicated™️ ruby intended to try to get the raider city under control, maybe create some kind of peace, negotiate with them. i did nuka world right after the fall of the institute so this would've been right after she had just tried and failed to do the same thing there. "if they make me their leader maybe i can fix this somehow. maybe i can solve it this time" she accepted her role as "Overboss" for a while, never really favoring any of the gangs (I pretty much gave out territory "fairly" based on who i thought would be best for that area. pack gets the zoo obviously, and the wild west. operators get the bottling plant since they'd manage it best, and nuka galaxy. disciples got kiddie kingdom bc it was funny. i didn't have any more zones to give out, i didn't specifically choose to slight them). things got out of hand and she ended up taking them all out in the end. more on that later. anyway i guess the answer here is "Briefly, overboss of every raider gang equally, until she killed everybody instead. the end"

Family: son Shaun (the first; deceased, illness and/or uh, explosion. canon). son... Shaun (the second. synth. canon. his future is uncertain, as he presumably won't age, but then, neither will his second mom Curie). Ruby's parents died in the bombings. I haven't given as much thought to her backstory as I did for Bonnie but I feel like she had a brother. Codsworth is also family to her.

Partner/s: Former husband Nathan (deceased, murdered. canon). wife Curie (dating in-canon, i hc they were married in diamond city. i think it would be a cute parallel to the other robot wedding i helped cause there). boyfriend Hancock (canon, i hc that curie has known about this from the start and is fine with it). Nick Valentine is her "one that got away" - she has wanted him for years, and he's aware, but does not return the feelings. Still close friends. (ill never forgive you bethesda i need him so bad) also has a weird relationship with deacon. i feel like there's a "makes out with you. as a friend" vibe going on there but i dont know if it ever happened. i cant figure deacon out and i know that's exactly how he likes it

Found Family: all her companions are like family to her. especially close with deacon and preston. thinks of kent like a little brother, despite him being much older than her (edit: actually it just occurred to me that he might not be. we dont know how old he was when the bombs hit but i guess they're both at least 200 years old now. but kent consciously lived those years while ruby sorta skipped them so i guess hes still older)

loved glory like a sister.

Future: does not have any more children. dies young, certainly protecting someone. dies a hero, and is remembered as a legend. it's a BIG funeral. i dont know if synth-shaun will age, but curie, hancock, and nick will still be there for him if not.

Major Injuries: Has burn scars all over from fights and reckless use of explosives/fire weapons. (I don't know what after effects she might have from the cryostasis but I feel like there should be something. in any case she certainly has trauma around being too cold or feeling trapped/feeling like she can't move.) (I also want her to have a significant injury from the Nukaworld revolution. im thinking about maybe she winds up with a prosthetic leg)

Favorite Items: Nuka cola memorabilia (has a full collection of every available nuka at the red rocket in nukaworld. my pride and joy. i made them All), nuka cherry, bourbon, red rocket toys, baseballs, lunch boxes, plastic pumpkins, med-x on occasion, anything undamaged/clean. Hoards everything. ANYTHING could be useful somewhere. she has personally rebuilt half the commonwealth out of old broken lightbulbs and toasters she dug out of the ruins

Sarcastic and rough, often hot-tempered, but kind-hearted to the core of her being. Will go to extreme lengths to protect and support others.

used to love working on her car and otherwise tinkering before the war. She now throws herself into fixing, maintaining, and building things to keep busy and avoid processing her emotions

considers herself a junker; collects everything she can get her hands on. loves unusual/interesting objects, and anything that reminds her of life before the war. She is particularly excited by anything that has remained intact - she's adapting well to the junkyard wasteland lifestyle, but something about coming across a perfectly pristine, untouched shiny metal can makes her very happy

Prone to emotional outbursts (usually manifesting as anger) - she hasn't been able to come to terms with everything, and mostly copes with it by Not Coping With It and violent denial until it explodes out somewhere. Some part of her feels intensely guilty; she likes the post-apocalyptic life. She finds it fulfilling to support the settlements across the Commonwealth, she's damn good with a gun, and always yearned for the kind of devil-may-care adventure and freedom she has now. She loved her husband, but never really wanted the domestic life in the first place.

i think her whole life Before was just sort of following the steps of what you're "supposed" to do. nathan asked her out, he was nice, she liked him well enough, so she said yes. they had been dating for a while, he proposed, and there was no reason not to - getting married and settling down was just what people do, so she did. the wedding was fine. she got pregnant not by plan, but hadn't really been putting a lot of effort into avoiding it, either, and again, having kids is just what you do. she didn't hate it. she didn't resent any of it. but none of it was what she really and truly wanted out of life.

was a punk motorcyclist as a teenager and is returning to her roots quite a bit now

Mostly considers Diamond City her home now. she loved baseball before the war, so it feels very nostalgic to her. she helped establish sanctuary hills, and it is technically her home town, but the memories were too much for her to bear. she lived there for a month or so at first - in a shack she built for herself, refusing to go in her old home and feeling uncomfortable living in the big house with the others. She still stores most of her supplies there, and visits often, but doesn't consider it her home anymore. she has since boarded up her old house, so no one, including herself, can go inside it again.

Nick Valentine was the first person she opened up to after everything happened. he was the only person she had met in this new world who could even begin to understand how she feels (except for codsworth, of course). She had - and still has - deep feelings for him, but when she tried dropping hints, he would always very politely and gently change the subject. whether he isn't interested or just doesn't think it would be a good idea, she doesn't know, but respects the boundary anyway. they do have playful vaguely flirtatious banter now and then, though. if he ever said the word, she'd be there immediately. (this is my best attempt at coping with the game not letting me have him, it makes sense but it still makes me sad. unfair)

Fell in love with Curie almost immediately, but she did admittedly rush into the relationship; the way she felt with Curie felt better than she ever thought she could feel again, and her flirting got the best of her. they still love each other very much, but largely have their own lives. Curie has found a place for herself establishing a clinic at the Castle, and while she does still travel with Ruby some of the time, she tends to worry and fuss over her too much, so they've agreed it's best to allow each other their space sometimes.

macready absolutely will not stop bringing up the romance option conversation with me so im interpreting that as he has a huge crush on ruby and she's Very Aware but just kind of ignores it. he knows she's not into him but keeps hoping he'll get lucky anyway. they're good friends though

besties with strong. this terrifies and confuses absolutely everybody but she would trust him with her life

((The Nukaworld Saga))

After the fall of the Institute, Ruby stuck around a while as the dust settled, but everyone could tell she wasn't doing well. going through the motions, numbing herself to the world, drinking more, not coping. desdemona encouraged her to take some time to process and to heal. ruby tried to focus on spending time with shaun jr., trying to let it all go and allow herself some happiness, but curie and preston could tell she wasn't okay

ultimately she decided she needed to get away for a while; out of the commonwealth, away from it all. She heard stories that Nukaworld was still standing, out there somewhere, and went on an expedition with Deacon to find it and see what was left of it. she had always wanted to go, back in its time, and thought it might be the perfect opportunity to get her mind off things for a while

they never imagined what they would find there - a whole city of raiders. Deacon stuck around for a while, and they had a grand old time exploring nuka town. but Ruby had been claimed as Overboss, and the whole thing got to be a lot more complicated than just an urban exploration trip. Deacon decided to leave, confident that ruby could handle herself, but a little worried she was in over her head and might not know when to back out. They parted ways amicably, and ruby promised to come back as soon as she could if she got any alerts from the settlements (i headcanon the in-game alerts are on the pip-boy, i dunno if that's how it's intended but that makes sense to me)

nobody saw her again for months. Nukaworld became her life for a time. She got lost in it, blind with confused trauma and tangled morality after the Institute - the surreal nature of seeing nukaworld destroyed and overrun with raiders made her lose her grip on reality a little bit, no longer sure what was real or what was right or wrong. At some level she hoped maybe she could do some good somehow, unite the gangs, bring peace, at least get them all to stay out there in the park and out of trouble...

but it all went too far. She went along as backup on an Operator expedition, only to find them shooting at Railroad agents. she hid, refusing to fight her own people, but also unwilling to admit the truth to Gage (she was never close with him, but he stuck by her through the whole park). she realized she was acting like a coward. she was only making these gangs stronger, and helping them spread more violence. she started looking for a way out.

When shank told her it was time to move in on the commonwealth, ruby realized she was in way too far - she couldn't keep up the charade any longer. the time had come to burn it all down.

she went out to the commonwealth and picked up Strong - didn't tell him what she did. just told him she needed a whole mess of people dead. together, they killed every last raider in Nukaworld. she found gage injured amidst the chaos, and tried to convince him to come with her, do some good in the world, but he shot her in the leg instead. she killed him and dumped his body in the pond, never truly forgiving herself for it. ((i wasn't intending to kill him, but there didn't appear to be any way to talk him out of fighting, and apparently after he turns hostile he still is considered a companion so like. strong couldn't kill him. i had to do it myself))

After getting the power plant up and running, ruby went back for deacon, and finally had the vacation they had hoped for - exploring the park, just messing around and having some fun for a change. along the way, ruby finally opened up about what happened out there. she at last agreed to say goodbye to nukaworld and come back to the commonwealth.

After Nukaworld, Ruby spent a lot of time returning to the settlements, trying to repair things and make up for lost time. ((i missed a Lot of settlement attacks... i didnt want to go back until i finished the dlc,, )) She brought Hancock along with her, as his relaxed presence calmed her. She never felt judged with him, even in her darkest moments. over the course of this excursion, they unexpectedly entered into a surprisingly passionate affair. ((this is. exactly how it happened i never planned to romance him on this file i just started spending a lot of time with him and when the romance option came up i couldn't say no lmao)) (note in my headcanon they're open about this, curie has known from the beginning. i think the terms of their relationship have always been fluid and open. deacon is oddly jealous, however)

the new flame did wonders to help ruby recover from her recent trauma, and she finally began to heal. i think probably she loves curie immensely but feels like she can't really talk to her about some things. she worries too much. anything ruby's seen or done, hancock has probably seen worse. he's more than rough enough to handle it, but also empathetic enough to understand. he allows her a space to express all that without worrying about scaring him or getting a lecture for the ungodly dangerous things she's done

started casually doing chems with hancock when they got close; ruby was concerned about what it would do to her at first, but felt safe trying them with him. she isn't a heavy user, but has tried a little of everything. enjoys med-x and daytripper now and then, with the occasional mentat. wouldn't lie if pressed on the subject, but mostly just keeps this habit between her and hancock, and doesn't want preston or curie to know about it.

once punched someone out for calling hancock a feral. he was extremely turned on by this ((this happened in that one vault people are still living in. the impulse to kill that guy was so strong but i didnt actually punch him bc i didnt want the whole vault to turn hostile on me forever. i did it in my mind though))

against all odds and logic, found X6-88 wandering the wastes alone after the fall of the Institute. he greeted her as if nothing had happened, like he had no idea anything was wrong, though he vehemently deflected any attempt to ask what he was doing out in the middle of nowhere by himself. he seems to be suffering from some kind of mental block or amnesia. ruby couldn't bring herself to tell him what happened or to kill him unprovoked, so she is currently hiding him at the boston airport (a settlement i never used so im turning it into a power armor storage/workshop and i built a little shack for him to live in bc i feel bad). she has no idea what to do about this and is shocked he's not yet questioning why they haven't heard from or returned to the Institute in so long. he still talks to her as if she's a top Institute operative. she hasn't been able to find a way to discuss the subject with him, and fears he'll either break down completely, become immediately hostile, or both if he ever figures it out. she just calls him "X."

((i have nO IDEA why he's still alive. i couldn't find him when i was working as a double agent so i never spent much time with him and i assumed he died in the explosion, but then i realized i could use one of the vault terminal things to track companions and figured out he was just. out in the world in some random field or something i forget where i found him. i think he's probably supposed to be dead but managed to not be there at the time or something? its really bizarre that the game seems to have no plan for how he responds to your betrayal unless he was supposed to die and just Didn't. im sneaking around exploring stuff with him to try to unlock his companion dialogues to see if anything changes but as of right now i think his existence is glitched and im interpreting it as like, some internal connection to the institute was lost in the explosion so his brain is Malfunctioning and he's in violent denial that anything could possibly be wrong))

((pretty sure danse is dead, though. i never progressed far enough to get him as a companion on this file, i dont remember seeing him on the prydwen when i was sneaking in and i haven't seen him anywhere in the wreckage either.))
