when i said it i thought it was true [2] {Ben Hardy}
A/N: 2821 words. continuation of the Fake Dating AU; enjoy
[part 1]
He calls you darling with his head between your thighs, and a camera over your shoulder, and you’re scripted to card a hand through his hair - you can barely look at that wig and keep a straight face - and just as you do, the door in the centre of the frame bursts open. The camera refocuses, and it’s Gwil in a pair of shorts and a t-shirt, announcing that the band had been played on the radio. After a beat, he stops, sees you scrambling to push Ben away and cover yourself, but he’s more excited at the news as he gets to his feet.
It’s a short scene, and once cut is called on the first take, and the crew take a moment to look over the footage. Like clockwork, people start moving around you, adjusting lighting, shouting technical jargon that you’ve learned to tune out over the years, and Ben sits on the edge of the bed as Gwil joins the pair of you, chatting with Ben about the football.
You’ve got a robe somewhere but you don’t bother with it, just wait as the scene is reset around you, and people come in and fluff the pillows behind you, and the camera angles itself a little lower as the sheet gets pulled off of you. You’re very glad that most of the crew are professionals, because they’ve got you in a pair of high-cut, surprisingly flattering cotton panties, and a tight, brown crop-top with a fringe that stops just above your stomach.
Gwil leaves and Ben leans back, his head pillowed on your thigh, and you gently kick him with your free leg, though it only serves to make him laugh. And then the cameras are rolling and Ben shifts so he’s laying on his stomach, his cheek resting against your thigh as he looks up at you with that mischievous glint in his eyes.
There’s a moment, seeing the way he looks up at you, part of you forgets it’s acting on top of acting, and you feel like you’re thrown back in time, leaning against his headboard as he presses a kiss to your inner thigh, the room dark around you apart from the warm glow of the light beside his bed and-
The director calls action and you’re ripped from the memory. If it hurts, just a little, to see him smile at you again like that and know it means nothing, you try not to dwell on it. You smile back.
“Do you have to get up? We’ve got the day off.” Ben wraps an arm around you pressing his forehead to your back, his voice still rough with sleep.
“You have the day off.” You correct with a small smile, trying to sit up. He just tightens his grip, pressing a kiss between your shoulder blades. “Ben.” The way you say his name is a gentle warning, and you can feel him smirk, his lips against your back as he gives a hum of acknowledgement. “They want me on set in an hour and a half.”
“Come on, that’s heaps of time.” And he’s tugging at your hip. You take that as your cue to turn, fondly exasperated when you finally look at him. “So this one is...?” He prompts, small smile on his lips as he sees the way you’re playful annoyance turn endeared.
It’s something else to wake up next to him, his hair a curly mess, expression unguarded and affectionate in the morning light. The curtains aren’t open, but there’s a sliver of light peaking through a gap between them, and the light shines in, hitting the arm he’s got draped across you. The idea of Ben Hardy trying to keep you in bed, smiling at you like that, would have been laughable just a few months ago, yet here you were.
“Midsomer Murders, they’ve got me playing a baker’s daughter who’s killed ‘cos she looks like some bloke’s ex.” You tell him quietly. There’s a moment of silence that follows, and you’re not even sure he heard you, a look in his eyes like the world outside could be burning and he wouldn’t even care if you’re by his side.
“Sounds like it’s right up your alley.” He mused, arm still around you, and you laugh at that. The sound makes his smile brighter.
“What the baker, being murdered, or looking like an ex?” You asked lightly, though you realise too late that it could be construed as some sort of twisted relationship test, thought he just chuckled, not reading anything into it.
“Finding yourself playing someone tragic.” He explained. He’s still smiling, but your own expression falls as you consider the weeks you had ahead of you.
The producers of Eastenders had sat you down to explain that your character was going to overdose at the end of the Season, and be rushed to hospital. The survival of her was entirely dependant on the fan’s reaction to the character and the event, but even if she recovered, her romantic arc with Ben’s character would end. The fans wanted him back with Lauren, and the production team agreed.
“Do you think it’s weird that my characters keep getting killed off?” You asked, and he rests a hand on your cheek, thumb gently brushing against your cheekbone.
“‘course not, babe. Two is a coincidence, maybe start worrying about being typecast if it happens again.” He’s so gentle when he says it that you can’t help but smile back, leaning in to press your lips to his before getting up to start getting ready, and Ben grumbles without you by his side, but he’s smiling as he watches you flit about the room.
“You and Ben were together last time we worked together, right?” You and Gwil are the first two on set for the first day of shooting the Madison Square Garden after party. You’d just wanted to get their early knowing you’d have to spend a good deal of time in hair with the wig they had for you for the scene.
“That was a while ago; surprised you even remember that.” You laughed, eyes closed where a makeup artist was busy applying eyeshadow.
“Yeah, I forgot about it until the Interruption Scene,” he says, and you snicker, humming with agreement. The silence that stretches between you is a pleasant one. You’d been on quite a few episodes of Midsomer Murder with Gwil, enjoyed his company well enough, not that the two of you had really spoken back then, he’d been a lead and you had different bit-parts every time, and you hadn’t really kept in touch, but he was shaping up to be a good friend on set here.
“How are you two going now?” He asked, idly, watching your reflection as your lips were painted a bright red.
“Good.” You answer automatically, pausing to blot your lips before elaborating. “It’s- uh, honestly it’s weird being back together.” You cast an uncertain gaze to the makeup woman who was clearly trying to hide her surprise.
“Good-weird?” Gwil asks, raising an eyebrow, and you hesitate. When your words come out next, they spill, too fast as if making up for the silence in which you had to actually think about the answer.
“Yeah, of course, it would be weird if it wasn’t, you know, good-weird.” After a beat, you took a deep breath, forcing your shoulders to relax. “All relationships are weird at first.” And you swallow, standing from your seat and heading into get your wig. Ben’s yawning as he steps past you to get to the makeup trailer, and you catch his wrist as he passes.
“Hey.” Voice soft, you smile at him, trying to push down your sudden uncertainty. He looks a little confused, but his answering ‘hey’ is kind and fond. He catches sight of a makeup assistant waiting for him, and he presses a quick kiss to your temple before making his way in.
It’s easy to pretend to love him.
Almost as easy as it was to actually love him.
"So are you gonna leave him once you leave Eastenders?” Maisie was rather blunt. She was one of the only people you talked to after having your production with her had wrapped, and that’s more so because she was a freelance production assistant for indie movies, and she’d let you know about upcoming projects.
“What the hell, May, no.” You spluttered, and she rose her eyebrows leaning back and taking a long sip of her coffee. She’s judging you. She’s always judging you. It’s part of her charm, you learn not to be insulted.
“Oh, I thought it was just like, a publicity thing.” She admitted, and your brow creases in confusion.
“That’s fucked, that’s so disingenuous.”
The two of you fit together so easily, sitting on a gilded love-seat in the middle of Freddie’s living room set. Ben’s got an arm around you and a prop glass of alcohol free champagne, and there’s extras all around you buzzing with energy. Every so often you’ll catch one of them watching you and Ben as if you’re some sort of spectacle, and you have that unique sinking sensation that comes with being a public figure; of everyone knowing your business whether you told them or not.
“I think they know.” You murmur in between takes, and he makes a hum of acknowledgement, before turning to you, expression neutral, if not a little confused. “I know, that’s the point.” You know what he’s trying to say without him having to say it, reading him even after a few years apart.
“You wanna get dinner after this?” He asks quietly, and your expression turns reflexively confused.
“It’s already midnight, it’s not like anyone will expect us to be out, not that anything’s open.” You rested your cheek on his shoulder as he looked out at the crowd.
“We can go to Seven-Eleven for all I care, I just need to get food after this.” He muttered, and you suppressed a smile.
“So we’re putting it on for the cashier?” You asked, and he turned to face you, chin bumping into your forehead when you refused to move your head.
“Babe,” he says pointedly, and you have to laugh, because if you don’t you think your chest might ache a little, “I just want company, it’s not that complicated.”
Except it is that complicated. Being around him like this has reminded you how good it felt to be with him. It’s been almost three months, and you’ve forced yourself into the habit of reminding both of you that it was fake, that it was for attention, and even if you were really friends again, there was nothing real about the romance. It was getting on his nerves, now that you were closed to the end of filming.
“I know that this isn’t real.” His grip on the steering wheel is white knuckled as he drives to McDonalds. “I get it, okay, I know what’s happening, you can stop reminding me.”
“It’s not all for you, Ben.” Voice soft, you lean back in your seat. He’s parked, but neither of you feel the need to leave the car.
“What? You’re reminding yourself?” He asked, and you made a noise of affirmation, and he’s quiet for a long time.
“Half the time, if I don’t remind myself, I just forget.” You refuse to be embarrassed or ashamed by that. “We didn’t actually break up that long ago,” you reminded him; it had only been about two years, “so I’m sorry if it’s weird for me.”
“It’s weird for me too, okay?”
Your final scene of the Season has you laying in a hospital bed. There’s no words, just the steady beat of a heart monitor that’s going to be added in post production, and a shot of Ben’s face before he leaves, slamming the door to lean against it with his face in his hands.
You fall asleep about five minutes into filming, and it’s only when Ben comes and lays down beside you on the hospital bed that you wake. Apparently they’d already filmed three takes. His eyes are red-rimmed, but he’s smiling.
“Don’t cry for me.” You tell him, gently teasing, laying your head on his chest and yawning loudly. He wraps an arm around you.
“Tell that to the writers.” He snorted, his hand rubbing gently up and down your arm. “I don’t know how you can sleep through all this.” He mused, and you give him a deadpan look.
“Well someone didn’t let me get a lot of sleep last night.”  Though your tone is accusatory, your smile is playful, and Ben refuses to meet your gaze, a blush rising on his cheeks.
“I’m not going to apologise for that.” He says, tone lofty, though his voice drops to a murmur. With a giggle, you press a kiss to his jaw, murmuring that he shouldn’t need to apologise anyway.
When he looks at you, looks past the makeup they’ve put on you to make you look sick and weary to the way you’re grinning at him, and he kisses you gently, his finger beneath your chin, lifting your lips to meet his.
Ben’s called away a few moments later, and you see the woman playing Lauren smirking at him from the door frame. Ben rolls his eyes at her as he climbs from the bed, telling you over his shoulder that he’s sorry he disturbed your nap, and you laugh at that, shuffling into a comfortable position as one of the crew members came over and straightened the hospital blanket around you.
After the two of you talked in the McDonalds car park, things have become easier. There’s no more reminders, not in the traditional sense; when it’s just the two of you, he calls you dude, and you call him buddy, and neither can take the other one seriously. He almost snorted beer from his nose when the two of you grabbed dinner at a pub and you’d told him;
“You look cute tonight, buddy.”
Low effort, low pressure, you let yourselves fall into the role of best friends who occasionally kissed when in public. It’s not even weird when you remember little details about one another from when you were together, it was more fond than anything else.
“Ben, settle an argument for us,” they’re on the set of Freddie’s first apartment, and you weren’t actually in the scene, but you’d been bored out of your mind at the hotel you were staying at and came along to watch the recording. Ben was sitting beside Lucy on his phone on the brown leather sofa in the middle of the set, while Rami and Joe were laying side by side on the mattress by the piano, and you were behind the camera with Gwil, trying to touch his wig, and getting your hand slapped away every time, as if it were a game.
“Is this the most impractical bed,” Joe parroted the script, and Lucy’s delivery, to which the actress rolled her eyes with a goodnatured smile, “or just a genius designing his room to best suit his own creative feng shui?”
“Why would you ask him?” You call over as Ben considers thoughtfully for a moment. “He designs his living room about how to best minimise glare on the TV.” You snicker, and Ben looks like he’s about to protest, but then his expression changes and he’s nodding in agreement, before adding.
“The bed’s impractical though, I keep kicking my shin against it.” He adds, and when the boys are giving him a confused look, surprised that he agreed so quickly with your words, he shrugs. “We lived together, she knows what my living room looks like.” He says, as if it’s explanation enough, and honestly, it is.
“Do you ever think about getting married?” The two of you are curled up on his sofa one evening, binge watching something forgettable on Netflix, and your whole body freezes. “Christ, calm down, I’m not asking you, I’m just curious.” There’s a laugh in his words, and you let yourself relax.
“Maybe one day, when I’m a bit older.” You muse, sighing softly and leaning further into him. “When I stop playing crack whores and murder victims.”
“But you play them so well.” He says, with all the fake-enthusiasm he can muster, and you shove him in the ribs.
“Oi, I’ve got more range than that.” You huff, before settling back down. “What about you?” You ask, and he lets out a low, long hum.
“Haven’t really thought about it much.” He admits, and you make a noise that’s halfway between amused and confused.
“What’s got you thinking about it now?” When you ask, he tightens his grip on you, just a little, pressing a kiss to the top of your head.
“Not really sure.”

A Widow and the Outlaw
Bucky Barnes x Reader (Cowboy AU)
Summary: All alone in the woods Bucky finds a griefing widow and decides to save her life. Both of them showing each other there worlds...
Warnings: mentions of killing/violence/death, fluff, guns?
A/N: Enjoy! I really like it :) Yes I had to take this picture hehe
Tumblr media
Up in the hills was supposedly live a rich couple all alone in a cabin, sleeping on their piles of cash he heard from a fella. And if it’s one thing Bucky and his outlaw gang needed than it was money so he prepared everything for a long ride with food and munition to get over the next few days that it would take.
The tip he got about them was better be something good otherwise it would be nothing but waste to ride this far into the mountains. Through different terrains and weather changes he rode about three day until he could see his destination in further distance. He wanted to take one quick look before going in to make sure he wasn’t going to walk into something he couldn’t handle. He didn’t have much of a plan, it was just a quick in and out.
As he got closer he could make out small whimpers and cries from a woman that was sitting on ground, a grave in front of her. She looked like she’s been through a lot, her hair disheveled, the clothes she wore dirty and wet from the rain. Must been sitting there for a few hours he thought and got off of his horse, closer to her.
“All we needed was each other..that’s what you always told me” she mumbled under her breath.
“Uhh..- You alright there Lady?” he asked her carefully trying not to startle her.
“Who are you?” She asked surprised and stood up, taking a few steps away from him.
“Sorry..I don’t mean no harm” he replied, holding his hand up in surrender to assure her that Bucky wasn’t one of the crazy ones out here. People around here could be cruel and disgusting, he couldn’t say he was a good man but he kept his sympathy around most people. Not always thinking to kill or steal from people.
“Well it doesn’t make a difference anymore if I get killed from an outlaw, from wild animals or simply from starvation” she sighed quietly, picking up flowers and placing them gently on top of the grave.
“-We came out of the city in search of something different...something where we could be free..something true” she added as Bucky decided to stay silent for a moment.
“-We were a pair of fools” she chuckled softly.
“Is there a train station or somewhere else I could bring you to?”Bucky asked hoping to help the lost lady.
“No I..he wouldn’t want this...I am gonna do this for you Elijah” she stood now up again and starting to walk away, something about her seemed to catch his interest.
“I am gonna leave you to it then” he replied and wanted to walk back but felt like he couldn’t leave like this. Somehow he felt guilty for something he wanted to do to them even tho he never did.
“-Is there anything left for you to get over the days?” he spoke up again and she turned around again.
“Nothing. We didn’t have an idea about hunting. Couldn’t even catch a darn mouse, just found some poisenes berry’s” she told him grinning sadly.
“Well you won’t last much longer if ya don’t know how to hunt...Come on I’ll show you” he suggested her. Bucky wouldn’t be able to forgive himself if he would leave like this. It would be her death, he didn’t want more undeserved deaths that laid heavy on him which followed him every day, plaguing his mind.
“Alright but you better not try any funny business. I may be weak but I know how to stand up for myself” she said proudly and followed him down the path.
“I don’t doubt that” Bucky laughed leading the way.
“You ever skinned an animal before? or learned how to read tracks?” he asked quietly as the got further between trees, trying not to scare the animals away.
“No but as I told you I haven’t catched much before” she told him, her voice low as well.
”You gotta learn how to if you want to survive out here” he let her know, the city wasn’t really far away but still.
“I am aware of that. Where are we heading? Do I need to look for something?” the women stopped by his side kneeling into the ground, gazing through the wood.
“We try it a bit more down, near the river. Look for movement and listen closely” he explained her and she nodded following along again.
“What happened to your husband? If you don’t mind me asking” he asked carefully choosing his words thinking that she must be still grieving about the loss.
“A bear got him. Came out of nowhere. It was horrifying to watch, he survived only a for a couple days after that...Buried him two weeks ago” she told him looking to the ground.
“I’m sorry” he let her know.
“That was more his dream then mine.” she said, Bucky slowly stopping and going more carefully.
“You seeing something?” he asked and looked at her taking the bow and an arrow ready.
“No just lots a trees and the river. Stuff like that” she sighed out looking around more crunching her eyebrows together, concentrating to see something.
“Alright. Close your eyes for a second” he told her really softly.
“How is that supposed to help?” she mumbled back but did it anyway. Maybe he is robbing her now or knocking her out she thought and stepped a bit back, after all they just met and she was pretty sure that he is an outlaw and that mostly never meant something good.
“Just do it, concentrate on sounds. Tell me what you hear?” he whispered and saw the smirk on her lips growing.
“You talking. That’s what I hear.” he breathed out a chuckle.
“Open your eyes again and look again” he instructed so she did and looked around until her eyes widened and she pinched his arm and pointed towards. “There is a rabbit” she whispered smiling from ear to ear.
“See you concentrated on the forest instead of thinking and looking to hard for something specific.” he said and pointed the arrow at the rabbit, breathed another time in and out deeply before letting the arrow go and hitting the rabbit letting it fall over dead.
“Impressive” he heard her mumbling, probably to herself and catching her watching him closely, like she was taking notes in her head about this for later. They both got closer to the now dead rabbit and he pulled it by it legs up taking the arrow out again before holding it towards her.
“You got a knife?” he asked her as she took the rabbit by both legs like Bucky did.
“No not right now. Should I get it?” she raised her brows, the cabin wasn’t far but it was better she learned it without one first.
“No just try to skin it like this. Hold it tightly by his legs, grab his fur and just pull downwards really strong..it will come right off” he explained and nodded doing what he said, she pulled and pulled til the skin came right off, easier as expected as she got right grip for it. “I did it!!” she laughed out proudly showing the rabbit up to him.
“Yeah see. Not that hard” Bucky rested his hands and on his hips.
“Ok I think that was enough for one day I think I should get back now” she bit her lip from grinning so proudly. With the rabbit slung over her shoulder they made their way back up the path.
“Thank you for showing me that. I wouldn’t make it if you wouldn’t showed up” she said after a few moments of silence, looking at him as he nodded.
“No need to thank me. The rabbit should at least last a few days before you have to catch another one”
“Well now I know how to” she winked at him letting him blush faintly. Bucky tried to hide it as they got up the stairs but she noticed it.
“I would invite you in but I look like a mess and in there is one too” she took a fallen out hair strand behind her ear and opened the door just a crack so she fitted through it.
“I’ll be on my way then” he tapped his hat and turned around to leave. She watched him get almost to his horse before she got a few steps out again.
“My name is (Y/N)” she called out.
“Bucky Barnes” he smiled back, getting on his horse again and riding away down towards the city.
A week has barely gone by as Bucky was riding around in this area again and thought that he could check in and see that how you were doing already. In further distance he heard gunshots sounding through the forest so he made his horse running  a bit faster just in case something was going south at your cabin and as he took the path up his breathing and heartbeat slowed down again as he saw you with the gun shooting or well trying to shoot some bottles you stood up.
Concentrating on the bottle you wanted to hit you pressed the trigger again but missed once again, the gunshot letting you flinch a bit. Not one of the damn bottles broke or even came in the slightest distance of the bullets.  If it would go like this longer you had to go to visit the gunsmith again for new muntion. Sighing out frustrated you let the gun drop, wanting to give up as you heard a horse coming closer. You immediately turned around and held up the your rifle to the visitor. Bucky was surprised but didn’t even flinch, he was used to be getting pointed at with all kinds of weapons.
“Bucky! Good lord I could’ve shot you” you rolled your eyes and took the gun down.
“But you didn’t” he chuckled and watched you turn back around to the bottles just pointing at them. “You wanna learn how to shoot?” he asked and you looked back.
“How are you always around when I need help sir?” she raised her eyebrows at him and all he could do was shrug and walk to her side.
“I was around and heard shootin’ so here I am..wanted to check in anyways” he confessed, having (Y/N) on his mind now for the past couple of days. She looked better now, more relaxed, cleaner with new clothes and all. Like a new person. “I guess I could use a little help..again.” you sighed out, clearly not happy about it. You usually didn’t like to get help all the time but out here you needed it, it was still all so different than to your life before.
“Nothing to be ashamed of..It’s simple.” he said and came up to her side standing closely to her side, she could already feel his hot breath against her skin as she tried to concentrate on his instructions and on the bottles.
“Make sure you stand right so you don’t pulled back to much, hold you arm a bit up and lean the end against your shoulder then just point out, concentrate, take a deep breath and pull always the trigger after you breathed out” he explained showing her and as he stepped away again she pulled the trigger but missed letting her breath out frustrated. “I’ll never understand that.” she said.
“Here I’ll show you and then you try again. You can learn, not that hard. I promise” he took one of his rifles from his horse.
“You have experience from years of being an outlaw”She said shaking her head and as he did it it all looked so easy as he did it and fast, he didn’t miss.
“Try again” he said as he turned back to her so she did even if it was the last time before she would get to frustrated with this or lock any more people to her.
Pointing the gun, doing what she was told and then pulled the trigger as the bottle exploded into shreds. She hit one.
“I did it..Who would have thought?” she laughed out and he applauded her as she bowed  like she knew a lady would do.
“-You know I actually cleaned up a bit and was just making dinner...You want to join?” she asked and laid the gun away.
“Sure. Would be my pleasure.” he grinned and followed her into the house. It was pretty simple just from the outside but had just her touch something he didn’t often when he got into cabins that are as far away as this one.
“Just take a seat. It’s almost done. It’s with Rabbit, one I catched myself” she told him stirring in it and preparing two dishes for the both of them. Handing one Bucky who digged in right away, he was a interesting men cause he clearly didn’t have manners which you liked. You thought that this was probably one of the first times he had like a dinner inside at a table like “normal” people around these days but after all he is a outlaw so you weren’t surprised the way he acted.
“I guess it tastes good?” you chuckled as he stopped himself and put the plate down trying now not to eat like a animal.
“Yeah it does great quite delicious” he wiped his mouth with his sleeve and sat up.
“I think that might be also the first time that the food I made doesn’t taste awful. Cooking was also new for me. I was raised with a silver spoon in my mouth so I practically had to learn everything for myself after we moved up here so I am even more grateful that you showed up” she told him and poured him something in a glass to drink.
“Really? Well if it’s make this easier I don’t know either how to cook” he whispered like it was a secret making her giggle, which must be the most wonderful sound he ever heard.
“Well I guess we have to learn a lot more from each other” she smiled at him from across the table.
“I guess so”

FATED, huang xuxi
↳ Rating lots of fluff + slight crack
↳ Pairing player!Xuxi x Y/N
↳ Word count 5k [ one-shot / soulmate!au ]
↳ Summary the red thread of fate was real after all, managing to make something out of nothing
Tumblr media
Red Thread of Fate: ancient Chinese mythology about the lunar matchmaking god Yuè Lâo tying a red thread around the ankles of destined lovers at the age of 21; regardless of place, time, or circumstances.
The DJ played hectic, bass heavy EDM tracks that contrasted drastically to the semi formal themed party. You down the red of the alcoholic contents in the red solo cup with a wide smile, turning to your best friend Ella.
“Thank you for forcing me to come! I’m having the time of my life!”
Stress has been your closest best friend lately, with all the exams and projects being thrown at you. So when Ella asked you to go out with her, you were definitely more than hesitant at first.
You throw your hands in the air and Ella smirks at you. “I told you you’d have a blast.”
The sea breeze flows through your hair when you close your eyes and throw your head back, appreciating the open decked yacht and everything this extravagant party had to offer. You were on some random yacht off the coast, still close enough to be able to see the city. The moon was completely full tonight, high and dominating the entire sky.
Your tipsy mind free from troubles and bad thoughts. You felt reborn the moment the time went past midnight.
The DJ announces that it was midnight and the crowd cheers heavily and you join, not really knowing why exactly the mass of people were going crazy.
“You never did tell me what club this is or event this was, you know.” You take another cup of beer from the bar and chug the whole thing down in one go.
Ella’s eyes widen at your question and she laughs nervously, sipping on the cup in her hands. “Funny story, Y/N.”
You motion for her to go along whilst nodding and dancing to the song the DJ played, not really focused on what she was saying.
“This isn’t a club or event.” She sighs and avoids your gaze. Eun says the next sentence quick and all in one breath, knowing exactly how you’re gonna take it. “Its Xuxi’s yacht, and he’s now officially 21!”
Your best friends throws her hands in the air as if to cheers, but you felt every ounce of alcohol fade once she mentions the younger boys name. Whether it was the tequila shots or just how much you hated him, your hearts been racing ever since Xuxi was brought into the conversation.
You knew you could never date a guy younger than you, even if it was just a few months younger like him.
“Are you fucking with me?” Your arms are immediately crossed against your chest as you stare at Ella with a narrow gaze.
Needless to say, Xuxi and your relationship was pretty worse for wear. You loathed him, his intensely cocky personality and ‘i’m richer and better than you’ attitude was a complete turn off. Everything about Huang Xuxi was a complete turn off.
“He invited us.” She shrugged. “You were having so much fun before I mentioned it was his party.”
Invited us? Give me a break. As far as you could tell, Xuxi hated you almost just as much as you hated him. He sneered at you whenever he saw you and even gave you the nickname Top Bitch. Which, to be honest, didn’t really sound all that bad to you.
“Exactly.” You sigh and feel a headache come out of nowhere, leaving you clutching your right temple. “I’m allergic to even the slightest mention of him, I just got a headache. I’ll be back, don’t think you’re in the green.”
You move past the crowd to get towards the bathroom, or anywhere that was at least somewhat quiet. Going inside the large living room, you walk towards a bathroom but when you knock and only hear explicit noises on the other side; you cringe and leave. So you go towards the main bedroom instead, walking in when no one answers your knock.
The empty and quiet room let you release a sigh in happiness, massaging your temples. Contemplating laying down on the large and inviting white bed, you go to the bathroom instead; only feeling your temples throb even more.
You wince as you walk towards and pull open the door to the bathroom only to jump back and shriek at the sight.
None other than Huang Xuxi was leaning against the sleek marble sink, clutching his forehead until he jumped at the sound of the door opening and a girly squeal. You watch him groan and wince before turning to you.
But, amazingly once you connect eyes, the throbbing pain is gone and all you feel is relief. Your shoulders relax, your head feels light, its like a wave of serenity flows all through your body. You couldn’t help but feel so at ease, its like you forgot who you were currently gawking at.
“Y/N?” Xuxi looks at you with dazed, confused eyes before looking you up and down, iris’ doubling size at the sight of your feet. “Oh my god.”
You quickly look down and you instantly get why, mouth falling open.
Your black minidress and strappy black heels allowed for a thin, glowing red thread to wrap and tie itself around your ankle. But it didn’t stop there, you watched in horror as it continued onto the bathrooms tilled floors and under Xuxi’s pants, presumably to tie around his ankle.
You swallow thickly. The string felt like nothing but Xuxi and you could definitely see it, the vibrant red surrounded by a bright white light.
“What the hell is going on? Did you do this? Is this some sort of joke?” You stare at the last visible end of the thread before it disappears under the tall, irritating boys pants. He sighs, still staring at your ankle and the ribbon with a disbelieving look.
“No, princess, its a stupid fairytale my dad used to tell me. Guess its fucking real, huh.” Xuxi squeezes his eyes shut and you’re stood there in the doorway between the bedroom and bathroom still in shook. “Red thread of fate, a Chinese myth about a string that ties around two fated lovers ankles. We’re... We’re soulmates.”
The two of you stare at each other with disbelief written all over your faces, before you burst into laughter. “Thats a joke right? You’re definitely messing with me.”
When Xuxi continues to stare at you with his wide brown eyes, your laughter soon fades when you realize his facial expression wasn’t changing at all. Your face falls and you quickly reach down to your ankle, trying to pull at the string. Your hand just goes through it, as if it was just a hologram.
Your jaw drops. “H-How?”
“I don’t know.” Xuxi replies, eyes watching your hand go through the thread, yet the thread followed your foot wherever it went. “This... This is so fucked up.”
You grumble and give up, sitting on the floor and careful not to flash that guy-your soulmate your undies. Crossing your arms across your chest, the both of your eyes set on the thread connecting the two of you. You swallow thickly when a thought comes to your mind.
“Why aren’t you calling me Top Bitch?”
Thats when you fully take notice that this whole hour consisted of a very different Xuxi, one that hasn’t called you any names or threw a comment at you. He hasn’t cursed at you, hasn’t given you any looks, this was definitely unusual for Xuxi. This Xuxi was full of big, brown eyes that seemed to be permanently dazed. His words were softer, almost as if Xuxi’s voice got gentler the second he turned 21.
Xuxi’s eyes whip to yours and they’re obviously wide. “Holy shit. I haven’t called you that.” He swallows thickly and quickly looks away from your gaze with pink on his cheeks. “I don’t feel like I want to anymore.”
For the first time in the whole three years you’ve known Xuxi, your heart flutters for a second. But that one second is so profound it leaves you clutching your chest and shaking your head slowly.
“What is going on with me?”
“You’re falling for me, Y/N.” Xuxi lightly smirks for the first time since the two of you locked eyes, which is very surprising. He sighs a second later and taps the sink.
“Shut the fuck up.” You sneer at him and scrunch your face. “This is all my drunk mind and everything will wear off in an hour or two.”
Xuxi sits on the floor leaning against the sinks drawers. “Enjoying my party?” He’s sitting across from you and the end of his feet reach your knees where the ends of yours reach the middle of his calf. You take a quick inhale and look away.
“I guess. Then this crazy migraine came out of nowhere and now I’m here.”
“Same here. But its completely gone now.”
That definitely meant your headaches were connected. There was no way the both of you could get a headache at the same time then have it leave at the same time.
The red thread.
Your eyes narrow and you go to nudge his calf, but once your foot touches his leg, it was like adrenaline flew through your bodies, goosebumps instantly rising. And when you looked at the thread, it started to slowly loose its vibrancy. Your eyes widened.
“Xuxi, look, if we’re touching the string gets dimmer and fades really slowly. If I pull away it stops.” You show him and nod to yourself with a small grin. “So it should fade away the more we’re touching.”
When you look up at Xuxi, he looks as if he was daydreaming but looking directly at you. His lips were in a small side smile and eyes low. The way he managed to look at you pretty intimately made your cheeks pink. “I think that’s the first time you’ve said my name.”
“Thats definitely not true.” You scoff and can’t help but laugh under your breath. Xuxi’s grin widens just a little at the sight.
“Lets just say it was then.”
Your grin is unbearably wide and you couldn’t believe it, never once thinking Xuxi of all people would be making you blush. But then you remember that it was Xuxi and you clear your throat and rolled your eyes. “Please, Xuxi, how many other girls have you used that on?”
“If I’m being completely honest, a lot.” Xuxi twists the rings on his fingers and you scoff loudly. When you sit up to leave, he leans forward and lightly grasps the back of your calf and you let out an audible gasp.
It was crazy, it felt like butterflies that took a lot of steroids.
“But up until an hour ago, I’ve only been thinking about one girl and its only been you.” You’re standing up and you swallow thickly at the honesty in his voice and big, brown eyes. “Which is fucking insane because we’re supposed to hate each other... right?”
You run your hands through your hair and sigh. “Its this red string thing. But the feelings aren’t real, it’ll all fade, look.”
You point to your ankles and the slightly faded string but Xuxi keeps his eyes on you, swallowing thickly at your sentence.
“Don’t you... don’t you feel like this is something more?”
Your eyes snap back up to Xuxi’s and your throat goes dry. He immediately gets up and motions between the two of you. “I don’t know about you but I’ve never felt anything like this before and I’ve been in love, so, this is different.”
You narrow your eyes at him. Xuxi? In love? That was an idea you never would’ve connected. Yet, you couldn’t help but agree. Even if you’ve never really been in love, you’ve felt it and knowing exactly how much you hated Xuxi, whatever was still keeping you in the bathroom with him was powerful.
“Why us?” You sigh and squeeze your eyes shut. “I’m soulmates with a guy who sleeps with a different girl every night!”
“Hey.” Xuxi frowns and takes a few steps towards you. “Thats not true. You know I won’t do that to you, I’m not that type of guy in relationsh-“
This Xuxi was definitely one that you aren’t used to, seeing him in a completely different light. It was as if he really did care.
“I don’t know that you wouldn’t do that to me!” You point a finger to his chest and ignore the sparks that go off from the smallest contact. “And don’t talk about us in a relationship, take a few steps back.”
He rolls his eyes and holds his hands up, moving back and away from you. And even though you know you asked him to move back, you couldn’t help but feel a loss of comfort the more steps Xuxi took. You groan at the feeling.
“I need air.” You mutter, taking one last fleeting look across Xuxi and his big, wide eyes before walking out of the bathroom and bedroom, and out towards the empty front deck. The entire walk your eyes were focused on the red string around your ankle.
No one else seemed to notice the string, as it followed your ankle through the mass of people. When you got to the deck, you take a deep breath and sigh. The three years of unfortunate encounters with Xuxi and you could be compared to a cat and dog type of relationship. The two of you went at it back and forth, ever since you first met.
Three years ago
You and your friends were at some random dorm hall on campus, playing pool and chilling in the community game room. It was around 9:36pm on a Sunday so campus was almost empty, save for the guys playing pool casually next to you.
Not gonna lie, you noticed them the minute you walked in the room, talking to your roommate Ella. Especially the taller, blonde one. He was probably the most beautiful guy you’ve ever seen, with full lips and broad shoulders, he was definitely gonna be stuck in your head for a few days.
But when he caught you staring, he gave you a cocky smirk that had you rolling your eyes. If theres one thing you hated, it was a conceited guy who played girls with that exact smirk.
You’ve had too much experience and you were sure this wouldn’t add to it. In the corner of your eye you watch him and a couple of his friends walk over and you groan, nudging Ella. “They’re coming over.”
“Sheesh, blondies a looker. I caught you rolling your eyes when you saw him.” She sneaks a look at him and turns back to you with a satisfied grin.
“Not my type.” You cross your arms across your chest and boldly turn to watch him and his friends get closer. “He’s way to cocky for me, I feel it.”
“I like them confident.” Ella eyes you. “Can I go for him?”
“Go for it.” You shrug at her and turn back when the guy in question and his friends are in front of you and your friends.
“I don’t think we’ve seen any of you before.” The blonde guy keeps his gaze and smirk locked securely on you. “Do you live in the hall?”
“We live in Beacon across campus.” Even if Ella’s the one that spoke up and answered, Xuxi takes his time looking away from you to her. You scoff.
“Interesting.” He turns back to you with a cheeky grin. “I’m Xuxi.”
“My names Ella.” She holds out her hand towards him and he looks away from you with a little wink. You shake your head and turn to his friends instead. They seemed a lot calmer than Xuxi, the two boys now turned to you with warm grins.
“Hey, I’m Y/N.” You nod your head at them and they nod back. The one with light brown hair and a pretty smile answers first.
“My names Kun, I’m Xuxi’s roommate.”
“Sicheng, nice to meet you.” The boy with flawless features and light blonde hair replies.
“Nice to meet you guys too, both of you freshman?”
“No, Sicheng and I are sophomores. This is your first semester here?” Kun replies and you nod grinning at him.
“And you aren’t caught up by the force that is Huang Xuxi, impressive.” Sicheng smirks and you laugh a little, shrugging.
“Theres a lot more to a pretty face.” You look back over to Xuxi and where he stood with your friends a couple feet away. You turn back to them with a grin. “So what’re you guys’ majors?”
“Xuxi and I are both business majors.” Kun replies with a shrug. “I’m not really into it, more into editing and videography, which I do on the side.”
“I’m a theatre major.” Theres a faint pink hue that spreads across Sicheng’s face until he shrugs it off. “My parents wouldn’t let me go to acting school so this is the closest thing to that.”
You laugh loudly and shake your head at the two of them, already knowing you’re going to like them. “That’s really cool. I’m a bio major, but I might switch because it’s already getting hard and I don’t like that.”
Kun visibly cringes while Sicheng shrugs. The lighter blonde boy smirks at you, nudging Kun. “He failed intro to bio twice in his freshman year, it was pretty sad.”
You laugh again and when your eyes fleet across the room for a second, you catch Xuxi’s eyes. He turns back to you with another smirk.
“I don’t think I got your name.” Xuxi excuses himself from the girls before walking over to you without another word.
“It’s Y/N.” You give him an unimpressed look when he looks you up and down. He grins wolfishly.
“Thats a lovely name and, do I hear an accent?”
“Get her whole life story then her snapchat, bro, always works.” Kun scoffs and you grin at him. You pull out your phone towards Kun and Sicheng, away from Xuxi.
“Speaking of, can I get the both of yours?”
Both their eyes widen slightly before nodding and pulling out their phones and exchanging codes. Behind you, you can hear Ella and the girls hounding Xuxi for his snapchat and you release a sigh of relief.
Until Kun turns to the girls and asks for their usernames. Whilst Kun and Sicheng were getting the girls’ codes, it left you and yours truly free.
“So, Y/N,” Xuxi takes a few steps towards you, “my snapchats h-u-a-x-u-x-i.”
You raise a brow. “I don’t remember asking for it, do you?”
He looks confused for a second before his smirk grows. “You’re feisty, huh. Don’t worry, babe, I love a challenge.”
You scrunch your face in disgust, wondering how such pretty looks can be obscured by such a narrow personality. But before you could say anything, Ella’s voice calls Xuxi’s name and you sigh in relief.
“I’ll catch you in a bit, Y/N.” He winks at you while walking backwards and towards Ella. You wave with a fake smile before turning away with a roll of your eyes. You turn to Kun and Sicheng instead, enjoying their company much more than Xuxi’s.
Later that night you get a notification on your phone and its a request from none other than ‘huaxuxi’ himself. You nibble on your bottom lip for a few minutes before accepting it. And you already felt like you would regret this.
Xuxi: Kun spilled and told me your username :)
Y/N: tell kun i dont like him anymore
Xuxi: Does that mean you like me more?
Y/N: that would require me to like you in the first place :)
It only takes Xuxi a week before he realizes that you actually didn’t like him and decided that you thought of yourself too highly. From then came Top Bitch and the countless sneers and scoffs.
And thats just how it was for the both of you, never any different.
You’re sitting in the cafeteria with the girls when some of the NCT boys walk by, making you roll your eyes and sink in your seat lower catching a glimpse of who was there. But instead of walking up to your table, Xuxi just walks by and doesn’t even say hi making you furrow your brows.
“Did Xuxi just ignore me?” You mutter to Ella once he’s a good distance away. You keep looking at him sneakily behind her shoulder and when he catches your gaze, instead of smirk or wink, Xuxi glares at you. “Holy shit he just glared at me.”
“Maybe he gave up, isn’t that what you wanted?” Ella replies, shrugging at you.
“Yeah.” You say quietly, swallowing thickly when your throat goes a little dry. “Yeah, it is.”
⇝⇝⇝
It isn’t until that moment that you realized you completely ditched Ella. You groan and quickly pull out your phone from the back of your tight, strapless dress. Texting her where you were, you at least knew she would still be on the boat.
You put away your phone and sigh, leaning against the yacht railing and watching the moonlight play against the water, the full moon still bright and powerful. The cities colorful and lit skyline looks almost animated and magical.
“I’ve been looking everywhere for you!”
You turn your head to the sound of your best friends voice, Ella walking towards you with narrowed eyes. You sigh and shake your head.
“You wouldn’t believe what I went through.”
Ella raises a brow at you once she’s beside you. “Oh? Do tell.”
You nibble on your bottom lip and realize you didn’t even know where to begin. How do you tell someone that a magical, mythical Chinese fable about soulmates happened to you?
“Remember three years ago when we met Xuxi?”
Ella’s eyes get a bit widened, noticing the way you say his name without cringing. She nods and motions for you to go on.
“Why didn’t you ever go for him?”
“Oh, honey,” she sighs and rolls her eyes, “I tried. He was just too... preoccupied, I guess.”
“Preoccupied?” You furrow your brows and turn back to the view.
“Y/N, he was like hooked on you the minute he saw you. Theres no way you didn’t notice.”
You sigh loudly and face her with a stressed look.
“Do you see anything tied around my ankle?”
Ella gives you a funny look before looking down and confusedly on your ankle. “No? It’s too dark, here let me put flash on.”
You look down at the still half vibrant red thread that stood out in the darkness with a sigh. “Never mind, it’s okay.”
“Are you okay, Y/N?” Your best friend gives you a worried look, never seeing you like this before.
Your chin wobbles and you close your eyes. “Xuxi and I, we’re soulmates.”
Ella stares at you, waiting for you to shout ‘JK’ or to laugh it off. But your straight face doesn’t falter, making your best friends eyes widen.
“How do you know? Xuxi? Soulmates?”
Your eyes pull open and you sigh at her. “Its hard to explain but yeah it’s true.”
“Is it true to you though?”
You look at Ella’s face and hesitates before nodding a little. Now that you were apart from Xuxi, your mind was clear but there was an obvious divide. When you were with him there was electricity in the air, sparks flying from the slightest look. It felt like something else completely being around him, it felt nice. Inviting.
“Yeah, Ella, I do.”
⇝⇝⇝
Xuxi collapses on his bed with a loud sigh, already feeling his headache coming back. He knew you were walking further and further, spending three minutes earlier just watching the red thread twist and turn.
Theres no time for him to be alone with his thoughts as his best friend Sicheng walks in a few seconds later. “Xuxi, bro, why are you still in here? The parties outside!”
Xuxi sits up on his bed and rubs his hands over his face. “Have your parents told you about that myth about the red thread of fate? About the soulmates?”
Sicheng furrows his brows and gets up from his place where he was leaning against a desk table. His confused face was obvious, Xuxi never being the one to talk anything about love, feelings, or soulmates. “Yeah, why?”
“Its true, bro.” Xuxi sighs and avoids Sicheng’s eyes, focusing on the floor. “Y/N and I...”
Sicheng’s eyes snap down to the exact placement of the thread and he comes closer. “I don’t see anything, Xux.”
“Obviously.” The taller boy motions for the vibrant red string. “But Y/N and I definitely do.”
“No fucking way.” The other Chinese guy shakes his head staring at Xuxi’s ankle. Until a smirk blooms on his face. “Y/N, though? I’m not surprised.”
“Right?!” Xuxi groans and stops, realizing Sicheng said the complete opposite of what he thought the guy would say. “Wait, what do you mean? We hated each other.”
“In the whole three years we’ve known each other, Y/N’s the only girl thats been consistently in your life that isn’t family.” Sicheng shrugs and continues to smirk at the boy sitting on the bed. “Which is insane because, you know, it’s you. And I am now 30 dollars richer thanks to you and Mr. Kun.”
Xuxi completely skips over the second sentence once Sicheng finishes talking, turning to the boy with wide eyes and an incredulous look. “The both of you bet on Y/N and me?!”
“To date, yeah, but this whole fate thing is basically the same thing, right?” Sicheng laughs loudly and winks at Xuxi. “I’m joking, man. But, knowing Y/N, she isn’t too happy with this?”
“That’s an understatement. She’s outside getting air.” Xuxi lays back down with a groan. “When it went past midnight, its like my feelings towards Y/N flipped. I feel so different towards her, like, I don’t mind this whole... situation, you know? The whole soulmates thing?”
“Then what the fuck are you doing here?” Sicheng claps loudly, instantly pulling him out of his reverie and forces Xuxi on his feet. “Go and tell her that!”
“Are you sure?” Xuxi gives him a small look, not really knowing what to do in this position at all. He was used to girls but you were something completely different, not like any girl he’s ever dealt with. The last thing Xuxi wanted to do was piss you off, knowing how heated you would get.
“One hundred percent.” The shorter boy shrugs with a smirk. “When am I ever wrong, Xux? Now, go!”
Xuxi hurriedly runs out of the bedroom without a second thought, racing to find you. It was clear as day in his mind now, Xuxi realized that all these years of detesting you was nothing but a hoax, because if you were ever somehow out of his life; Xuxi wouldn’t know what to do.
He doesn’t stop to wink or talk to girls, only thanking and waving at the people who told him happy birthday. Xuxi was a man on a mission, racing through his yacht to get you.
“Y/N.” He gets to the front deck and slows his steps when you aren’t alone. Your best friend, Ella, he recognized, stood beside you with dear in headlights eyes. “Oh, shit, sorry, I thought you were alone.”
“Oh! Its okay, I was just asking about rides back home.” Ella laughs nervously, nudging you low key. “I’ll see you in a bit, okay?”
You nod and watch your best friend leave, not without throwing you a thumbs up and wink before she was gone. When its just you and Xuxi, the electricity is back and the headache is gone.
“Your headache stopped too?” You ask him and he nods at first before he realizes what you asked and Xuxi’s eyes widened.
“How did you know my head hurt?”
You shrug and the corner of your lips pull up. “Soulmate thing.”
Xuxi’s eyes focus on your smile for a second longer then bubbling laughter flows out of him. He takes some steps closer to you, reaching forward to hold your hand. Theres the feeling of pop rocks the second your hands touch and its addictive.
“The feelings aren’t fake or gonna fade in a day or two.” Xuxi clears his throat and blushes a little, the tops of his ears turning red. “They’ve always been there. This whole string thing just made me realize it.”
The moonlight, colorful city lights, and fairy lights decked throughout the yacht made this moment so magical, for the first time that night, you fully believed in the old Chinese wise tale.
“You piss me off a lot but I don’t know what I’d do without it.” You say with a shrug, smirking not long after. Xuxi chuckles and bites down on his lip, looking down at you.
“Are you willing to give it a shot, Y/N?”
You sigh and playfully roll your eyes, standing closer to him. “I guess I will, Xuxi.”
The red thread between the two of you dissolves almost all together the longer the two of you keep smiling at each other. Seconds later, fireworks go off in the backdrop and scares you, making you shriek and jump. Xuxi laughs loudly and holds you against his chest, watching the colorful lights in the sky.
“I forgot the fireworks went off at 2am.”
“Why 2 in the morning?” You laugh loudly, unable to stop yourself from clutching onto his chest to get closer. The warmth Xuxi gave off was so inviting.
“So people don’t forget it’s my birthday.” Xuxi smirks to himself, obviously proud of himself. You roll your eyes but laugh none the less.
“You’re unbelievable, Xuxi.”

Ice to Meet You
Merry Christmas @ladynightmare12 ! I hope you enjoy the fic!! <: I had a lot of fun with the soulmate AU, since it’s something I’ve always enjoyed. I combined it with the first meetings AU too. Have a great Christmas! <3
****
Wirt had given up on trying to find his soulmate when he was thirteen. He still remembered the conversation that came after he mentioned it to his mom. She had choked on her tea, wheezing until she’d managed to regain control of herself again. Then began the spiel about, “Oh, sweetie. You’ll meet her at some point in your life, don’t give up now!” and Wirt just sighed. Internally, of course. He didn’t want to upset his mom any further. A good bit of everyone in his grade had found their soulmate, leaving Wirt feeling terribly alone. Sara tried to comfort him, except she ran into her soulmate a few months later; it was some guy named Brian. That was a fun day.
He was a little more than relieved to graduate high school, which meant moving away to a college in a different state. A college in Oregon had caught his eye and he applied, half expecting to get denied. But lo and behold, the college actually accepted him and even had a full ride scholarship too.
Greg was against Wirt moving across the country when he broke the news. Wirt reassured him that he would call every day and keep in touch. He wouldn’t be left out just because Wirt didn’t live in the same house anymore.
Wirt enjoyed the trip to Oregon. His parents rented a small u-Haul for the stuff Wirt could take to put in his dorm. He was lucky enough to score a single person room, complete with his own bathroom. He didn’t think he could have managed if he had to share a dorm and a bathroom, much less having to suffer from public bathrooms.
They made the drive out to be like a mini vacation, taking their time since they left a few days early. Wirt’s nerves almost got the best of him a few times, the realization of him living somewhere that wasn’t with his mom and stepdad. Thankfully Greg managed to quickly distract him before he grew too anxious, eerily able to quickly figure out when his nerves were beginning to act up.
With the help of everyone, it didn’t take long before Wirt’s room was set up. He still had a few things to tweak here and there, like moving his desk closer to the window and hanging up his poems on the walls. He didn’t have much time to be particularly picky about how his room was set up with his parents and brother around.
They stayed in town for a few days, exploring the place with Wirt in tow. It definitely was a college town considering the absurd amount of fast food restaurants around. Like seriously, who needed this many fast food places? At least there were a few cafes for Wirt to hang out in. Cafes were pretty sweet places to chill at and they had a great effect on Wirt when it came to writing poetry. He was excited about that.
Tears were shed by his mom and Greg on the day they had to leave. Greg made Wirt promise to call him every day, and that was a rock fact. Wirt lingered in the parking lot for a bit longer than he intended, staring off into space before letting out a long sigh. He hoped he would be able to survive the semester before Christmas break. His next adventure in life had begun, only to bring challenges he had no way to prepare for.
Wirt got to studying diligently when the semester began. The majority of his classes were the core classes every freshman were required to take, including math. Thank god that he only needed to take two semesters of it due to his major in English. Math was one of his most detested classes; it was the worst. Maybe he was being overly dramatic, but Wirt would rather prefer to listen to someone scrape their nails on a chalkboard repeatedly for hours than be stuck in math class for even an hour. The entire point was above him, and the fact that other kids were majoring in math just blew his mind. They were to be feared.
The semester started out slow but picked up steam as the weeks went on. Midterms came and went, letting Wirt breathe a sigh of relief when his passing grades were posted.
He video called Greg before he went out trick or treating on Halloween, both happy and mortified that Greg decided to go as a garden gnome. Their trip to the Unknown was still very present in their minds years after it happened. At least now it was easier to deal with, and they didn’t have to worry about being sent into a fit of panic when winter rolled around anymore. Wirt admitted that Greg wore the outfit far better than he did, earning a protest of “No, you wore it better!” from Greg. They bickered back and forth until their mom told them to knock it out or else Greg wouldn’t be getting any candy that year. That shut Greg up and he hastily told Wirt goodbye and that he’d show him how much candy he got before going to bed.
Wirt found himself growing progressively more stressed as the end of the semester rolled around. His professors shoved study guides down their student’s throats and made it very clear that passing their finals would make or break their grades. Wirt found himself spending more and more time at his favorite cafe. He would have been surprised that he hadn’t drunk all of their tea if he wasn’t so stressed about passing his finals.
A week before finals, the unthinkable happened.
Wirt was on his way to the Jasmine Brew Cafe, lost in thought about his upcoming math final. It was the one he dreaded the most, and rightfully so. Other students in his class struggled as much as he did. The professor didn’t know how to break down the lesson so other kids could understand what he was trying to teach. Wirt barely managed to understand what the heck he was talking about most the time, and he hoped it would be enough.
Of course, the dork was so lost in thought that he wasn’t watching where he was walking. His foot made contact with frozen ice on the sidewalk, causing him to slip and fall down to the pavement. Wirt miraculously held onto his notebooks, laying on his back, winded from his fall.
Someone with unruly brown hair peered down at him with a look of mild concern. Wirt wished he could turn invisible because he knew that everyone around him saw what just happened.
“Hi there. It’s ice to meet you finally.” The other boy paused, before continuing. “I hope that’s not weird? I’ve seen you around campus before and I noticed you were always alone and I was going to say hi but I always got distracted and oh my god I’m sorry I’m kinda rambling. I tend to do that a lot and my sister always punches me and yep I’m gonna shut up now.”
Wirt’s wrist burned. That was what his stupid soulmate mark said. ‘Hi there, it’s ice to meet you finally.’
He wanted to say something witty back, but all that could come out of his mouth was, “Was that a motherfucking pun?” He rarely cussed, but dangit he was sleep deprived and angry that he was stupid enough to fall and slip on ice.
The other boy blanched, his extended hand frozen in shock. Wirt shuffled to his feet, clutching his notebooks to his chest. An awkward silence enveloped the two, only to be broken by the other boy.
“Do you want to go somewhere warm? Get some coffee or something?”
Wirt broke free of his surprise. “Uh, um, sure. I was heading to the Jasmine Brew Cafe to get some studying done. It’s right up the street here.”
“Cool. I’ve only been there once or twice, so lead the way.” He stuck his hands in his pockets, looking at Wirt expectantly.
“Right.” Wirt turned on his heels and began walking to the cafe, fidgeting with the spiral of a notebook. He knew that he was probably acting slightly like a jerk. Okay, a lot like a jerk. He had spent the majority of his teenage years resenting the idea of soulmates, knowing he’d never find his and that he’d live the rest of his life alone. But look what happened. He ran into his soulmate.
The rush of warm air made Wirt feel grateful for heating, heading to his usual spot by the wall. He sat with his back to the wall, and a large window to his left. Being able to look out into the street helped declutter his mind.
He almost relaxed, until the other boy - his soulmate - slid into the chair across from him. He looked as nervous as Wirt was.
“I’m Dipper, by the way. I don’t think I introduced myself yet.”
“Wirt. It’s um, nice to meet you, I guess,” he mumbled, his awkwardness hitting him like a fricking train. Now that the fact that yep, him finding his soulmate was a thing, was starting to sink in, a feeling of panic also begun to set in too.
“Hey, are you okay? You look like you’re freaking out there a little. I mean, I’m kinda freaking out too, but that’s because I’m super pumped to have finally run into my soulmate.” Dipper looked giddy almost.
Wirt chewed on a nail. “Y-yeah, I’m okay. It’s just… I gave up on finding my soulmate years ago, so I never thought I would actually run into them. I hope you don’t think I’m a jerk or anything because oh my god I feel so bad for being cold to you.”
When Dipper was silent, Wirt looked up to find him holding back a snicker. With the biggest shit eating grin, Dipper replied, “Was that a motherfucking pun?”
“Oh my god.” Wirt groaned, dropping his face into his hands. “Do not use my own words against me.”
“Kinda hard to considering they’re right here.” Dipper rolled his sleeve back, revealing the words scrawled across his arm. God, they were even in Wirt’s own handwriting. How crazy was that?
Wirt reached out to touch the words on Dipper’s arm, stopping short once he realized what he was about to do. “Sorry.”
“It’s okay. I know it’s a lot to take in. But I don’t mind if you wanna take a closer look at them.” His voice was quiet.
Figuring that he may as well roll with the punches, Wirt pulled his own sleeve back, exposing Dipper’s godawful pun written on the inside of his forearm. Dipper didn’t hesitate before running his fingers over Wirt’s pale skin, tracing the scratchy letters of his own handwriting. It looked different from his own, his letters rushed and hurried versus the flowing loops of Wirt’s.
Wirt finally caved and traced the words on Dipper’s arm. The two dorks sat in silence, no words needing to be exchanged as they let the importance of the day truly sink in.
The corners of Dipper’s mouth quirked up in a grin after a while. “So, did you wanna get a coffee and chat? And maybe tell me how you’ve bean all these years.”
Wirt had a feeling the puns weren’t ever going to stop.

FNAF- The Vengeful Hours Chapter 2- Ghosts Of The Past
A.N:  well, another story i forgot to do, oof i feel like im losing my moviation to write quicker than normal, but oof im trying hard guys im honestly trying, but for now i hope you all enjoy this second chapter of my fnaf au, the vengeful hours. ----- charlotte arrived home hours later, getting out of the car and going into the house, she saw her sister was sleeping, she smiled and patted her head, seeing her smile "heh... sleep tight sweetpea" she said as she yawned and headed upstairs, going into her room and changing into her pajamas, it had been a long day, her first night at the fright and it felt like days since she had any sleep, she flopped onto the bed she wondered about what else was there in that pizzeria, why did it feel like she was being watched by something other than those ghosts? she didint want to dwell on that right now, she was so tired, she litterally letted herself pass out for the night. hours passed and charlotte's eyes open "u....ugh" she saw herself in a dark place, almost like a void, she tilted her head and she got up, seeing the empty place, walking around as her brows furrowed, she felt a sting and looked to her cheek, blood was coming out of it, panic slowly started rushing into her as she looked around quickly, before hearing a low growl, she turned around, and saw a huge, dark monster that looked almost like bear, wearing a old worn yellow hat, and a bowtie, the creature had eerie, bloodshot red eyes, and looked terriflying, and large, almost larger than her, the large paws had drills like claws on them, and the feet were the same, almost like talons, the human backed away as the giant creature took a step forward, she tried to run but saw a wall, she whimpered and turned around, seeing the creature reaching out towards her, the eyes flashed and she screamed out loud in fear. Charlotte awoken with a loud gasp, sweating as she panted, heavily breathing as she rapidly breathe, touching her chest as she sighed heavily, calming down "....just a dream.... it was just... a dream....." she said as she rubs her eyes "god damn this job, my first week and already im sleeping late....." she groaned and got ready for the day, she stares at herself in the mirror, looking at her face, she didint realized she had a scar, then again how long has it been since she looked at a mirror, she touched the scar across the cheek, remembering that day when she was still growing up, she clenched her fists as she sighed "your. alright. he's not here, he's dead... he's always been dead.... i made sure of that...." she said quietly to herself as she hears the TV on, she walks down the stairs, seeing her sister watching a show, she smiled at how happy she seemed to be, her little sister noticed her and waved "hi sis!" she said as Charlotte waved back "hey there nazz" she said as she sat down next to her, nazz notices she looked tired "sis are you okay? was that first night really that long? you gotta take a break" she said as charlotte rubs her eyes, giving her an tired smile "i'll be alright sis, im always tired you know that" she said as she streched, got back up, and made breakfast, she realizes she only has a few hours until she can go do her shift so she might as well try to do something to do to pass the time, going onto her computer she wonders what to look up, either watching some videos or actually reading about something, her brows furrowed when she started typing in something one of the results were "Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Case?" she said to herself, feeling interested and her curiously getting the better of herself, she clicks the result and clicked on the first thing she saw. at first it looked pretty boring like any other website that charlotte knew about, but then the more she read the more interested she got, when she got down to the details of the case her eyes widen "30 years ago, the case of the missing children was still not solved, six children were reported missing after spending a birthday party in freddy's pizza, the second pizzeria to rival the original fredbear's diner and the sister location... reports show the camera of a man in a spring bonnie suit leading the kids to the back room and-" she stopped at what she saw next, pictures of the bodies of the children stuffed into the suits "oh god.... i think im gonna be sick..." she said to herself as she forced herself to keep reading "when they found the bodies they only saw five of the bodies, one was missing, possibly still alive it was revealed that was not the case when they discovered the unuse old fredbear costume, the original props were a black stained color due to the long amount of time it's been in the room, they found the child inside but could only find bits and pieces, the murder is still unknown and is possibly still on the run even to this day..." she couldnt bare the thought to lose her own sister to a murderer like that, it made her clutch her heart, she saw other sections, one talking about the dinner, or the third location and finally a blank subject about the fazbear's fright, she couldnt bare to read anymore but... something in her gut told her to keep reading, for some reason she had to know what really happened. ---an few hours later, fazbear's fright, midnight--- springtrap emits a low grunt as he rubs his head, his good ear twitching as he stood up, using the box as to support his balance as he grunted, the tried busting the door open, this time it did open, he emits a groan of relief as he looks around, it had been a while since he last been out, he could remember the first time he was left out of here was when.... his eyes closed as he sighed, remembering that day like it was yesterday, him being awoken unexpectly by people who were exploring the place, his mind was messed up, mistaking them for the spirits, killed them and then realized his mistake, he could'nt count how many times he was cowering, he also remembered meeting the ghosts and puppet, and how he told all of them he wasnt the murderer, it did took a while but only puppet was the one that listened the most, the others only wanted to hear the gist of it, the withered animatronic emits a low grumble, as he breaks out of his trance, hearing the camera moving, he looks towards it, and grunts someone was watching him, for real this time as he grumbled, he started walking, dragging his hand across the wall as he hisses lowly, before his ear perks, hearing a sound, a laughter curiously getting the better of him he followed the noise, finding nothing, another sound, he followed it, and then another, and another, and another, he was starting to get pissed off, he screeched slightly, punching the wall as his hand sparks a bit, he grunts as he looked at the hole he made, his ear perks at the sound again, he growled and then screeched as loud as he could. charlotte covered her ears, hearing the audio being messed up "ack! shit!" she rubbed her ears and then realized the audio wasnt working, she hears the distant echoing of footsteps and she quickly gets to work on doing the audio, all while trying to afford not to be scared by those ghosts, who kept trying, the moment when she got it fixed and checked for him, she saw a mask on the corner on the wall in one camera, then a figure was standing there, she saw the golden figure turned around the corner in the camera and she quickly was about to fire up the sound, when all of a sudden, something stared at her, she yelped and tried to look at the screen but the strange new ghost wouldn't allow it, her second night and already she's getting scared. with a grunt she shoved the ghost away and pressed the audio "hi!" the voice rang out through the entire fright, it almost cause springtrap to stop and look around, due to how loud it was, it started ringing in his ear as he snarled, backing up as he covered his ears, he looked towards the vent, and growled slightly. the night guard looked at all the camera and didint see him, she looked at the time, seeing that it was 3 AM 'only a few more hours to go... come on you big old bunny bastard... where are you?' she thought to herself where else could he had been, her eyes widen as she didint check the ventalion, she quickly did and checked the camera and her eyes widen, springtrap was inside the vents, she quickly shut the door in the vent to get in here and shutted another one on the way he was going, she could hear the distant angry bellowing echoed throughout the whole area, her heart was pounding, she breathed heavily as she whimpered, springtrap growled out as he climbed back out the way he came from, he's starting to get very annoyed "ugh..... i need to find out what is all of this.... hmm... i wonder..." his hand starts glowing, and a low grin formed on him. the night guard was shivering, she couldnt stand this, being this quiet she checked cam 9 and saw him leaning on the wall, as if he was sleeping, she didint want to fall for any tricks, she got off the cams and tried relaxing herself, then the lights started flashing, and the whole room started shaking, she stumbled around "w-what the fuck?! is there a god damn earthquake happening right in the middle of the night?!" she said to herself as she yelped, falling down as she rubbed her head "ow....." her eyes quickly widen and she got back up, onto the camera and her eyes widen, springtrap was closing in, she quickly checked to the furthest cam away from the office and pressed play a mutiple number of times, springtrap's ear twitches and he had enough he grunted and chased after the noise, she watched at how fast he ran from the cameras, it made her gulp at the thought of being chased by something like this, none the less was this was that guy meant by a real one? "yeah... it's a real fucking one alright.... god damn it why did i take this damn job..." she said to herself as she rubs her head slightly, and her eyes as she grumbled. springtrap stomped onto the ground and he growled, not noticing puppet was floating about "GODDAMN THIS STUPID CHASE! WHO THE HELL IS PLAYING THESE DAMN NOISES!" he nearly almost bashes his head onto the wall but he felt someone touching his shoulder "springtrap, just calm down" the marionette said as the withered animatronic hissed and grumbled "easy for you to say, aren't you a little annoyed at this damn sound playing?!" he said as the marionette shrugged "springtrap, i don't hear anything" he said as he grunted "goddamn this stupid ass suit" he said grumbling as he rubs his forehead, before hearing the familiar bells of six AM approaching, he grumbled in slightly annoyance and in relief "finally, maybe now i can finally explore this place without being watched by whoever's making that god awful noise" he said as he lumbered off, puppet just shrugged as he looked around, noticing the hole springtrap made, and stared at it, and squinted slightly "huh..... i didint know he could do that" he said as he walked off, charlotte panted as she was outside the fright, panting as she tried calming herself down, she noticed the car pulled up and the phone dude walked out, she ran over to him "hey! you didint tell me that real one was goddamn real and tried to kill me!" she said as he looked at her surprised "Wait you saw it? as if saw it saw it?" he said as she groaned "YES.... well from the cameras but still! i thought you said there was only ONE i saw TWO of those damn animatronics!" phone dude's eyes widen "wait... two?.... huh.... i'll have to look in from that, you take the day off, i'll fill in, i wanna see if what you saw was right" he said as she breathed "one day away from that place is all i fucking need...." she said as she stormed off into her car and drove off as the phone dude watched her leave, he rubbed the back of his head "another one huh.... could it be?.... nah couldn't be that puppet hasnt worked in years..... but... then again...... couldn't hurt to take a look...." he said as he went inside the fright, the doors closing as charlotte stared at the building as she drove off, she shuddered, and sighed and just focused right now, on getting back home safely. she couldnt help though but ponder on something she researched, one report was from the fredbear's dinner, a kid got his head bitten by one of the animatronics, fredbear, she could only hope and pray to god that she doesn't find THAT in there, then she might have to deal with THREE actual living animatronics.... if it ever came to that but for now she wanted to go home, she needed a break, badly.

🌹 SRY I CANT THINK OF A F/O
🌹 - Beauty and the Beast AU
was originally gonna write Gale/Andy but then i remembered stupit bitch Krycek exists and that’s what’s gonna happen. ill write Gale/Andy l8r … but for now… Mercy/Krycek … this is rlly long … oopsie (4,962 words)
“there’s a monster in the woods, Alex” his mother used to say. “it lurks, waiting for disobedient little boys who won’t go to bed on time”
“like, it’s just sitting in the woods, waiting?”
“oh for fucks sake, Alex. just go to bed please. im begging you.”
“i want milk”
“fine”
of course no one believes the stories about the monster in the woods. it’s just because their town is surrounded by thick, tight woods with very few paths in and out of it. but there’s nothing but wolves, moose, wild animals living there. it’s dark, deep, unwelcoming, but there’s no monsters.
and even when his mother went missing when he was 13, Alexei Krycek refused to believe it was anything like a monster. her horse went missing too, and he knew for a fact that it meant the wolves got them. (that didn’t ease the hurt. his mother was gone, and he was only 13. he didn’t know how to live without her at 13. but it wasnt a monster in the woods who took her from him.)
he still doesnt believe in monsters even when the Man Who Smokes Too Much takes him in, and the Man Who Smokes Too Much’s eldest son is absolutely CONVINCED that there ARE monsters in the woods who WILL come for everyone in the town unless they’re all very kind to nature.
Alex finds a reprieve in Jeffrey, the youngest Spender son. they grow close, and when the Man Who Smokes Too Much dies, Jeffrey and Alex are the ones who start to find work while Fox spends his time buried in books, studying, and reading about the mind and mythical
“Jeffrey you can’t go now,” Fox says one day. they’re all well into their twenties and Fox can’t hold a job he likes because everyone knows him as the boy with his nose in his books, the boy who used to leave out picnic baskets for the Monsters even though there was a food shortage.
“Fox.” Jeffrey and Alex say it in the same tone and Fox grins at them both but he sobers up when Jeffrey keeps packing. “i have to go,” Jeffrey says. “if i dont, we could lose the house. and out of all of us, Fox, you need this house the most”
“Jeffrey … there have been several cases of missing persons between us and-”
“if they arent traveling right, they are going to attract wolves,” Alex says. “we learned that from your father.”
“i’m still pretty sure the monster in the woods took him,” Fox says disdainfully
“grow up,” says Jeffrey. “you want me to bring back anything specific from the city?”
“actually,” Fox says before Alex can say anything, “remember those roses he brought us…”
“the day your mother died?” Jeffrey and Fox exchange a sad smile and Alex is reminded that he doesnt fit in with them. hes not part of them. he’s not a Spender or a Mulder. he’s a Krycek. his father never smoked more than enough for three people and his mother used to tell him fairy tales that would make Fox explode with happiness.
Jeffrey leaves, and Fox goes back to psychoanalyzing everyone in the town and keeping up with as many detective cases as he can. Alex works.
Alex works, and works, and works until Jeffrey doesn’t come home. it’s not the monster, he tells himself as he packs up supplies to go search for Jeffrey (or, more realistically, his body and his horse probably half eaten by wolves). the monster was a bedtime story for everyone in the town. (Fox disagreed, and gave him a spray bottle of something that smelled of lemon and onions to ‘keep the monster away’)
Alex takes his horse to go look for Jeffrey. halfway between Foxhunt and the city, he finds Jeffrey’s horse with her reins snagged on a tree. she makes a break for it as soon as Alex sets her free, but he has hope. maybe Jeffrey is alive after all. he follows a small broken path next to the tree he found Jeffrey’s horse trapped on, but the deeper into the woods he goes, the darker and colder it gets.
wolves howl. but he knows its wolves, and not monsters.
“God dammit Fox,” Alex snarls, directing his horse down the path, toward the wolf howls.
when he breaks into a clearing, his lips are blue. but in the clearing is… not a house, but a mansion. it’s not even close to being a castle, but it’s too large to be a simple house. no lights are on but the door is open. if anything, it’s a place to warm up if it’s abandoned
(it’s not. and Alex hates himself for a while after he walks in there. he finds Jeffrey, gets him out, but gets knocked out before he can join Jeffrey. he hates himself when he wakes up in a room lushly decorated. silk curtains, a thick plush carpet, soft cotton sheets and an ornate comforter. he hates himself for enjoying the rest for once, not having to share a room with Jeffrey, sleeping on a twin bed that’s too old and uncomfortable. he hates himself)
Mercy is irritated.
not one, but two people have invaded their home in the last 48 hours. they let the first one, Jeffrey, go. but Alex? he actually came into their house. he didn’t rob their garden, that they can forgive. they’re roses. their mother loved roses, and their mother probably would have forgiven someone for taking her roses after a few days. but Alex… Alexei… he walked into their home without permission. they don’t like that very much at all.
“you should really let him go…”
“Monica,” Mercy warns.
“it’s going a bit far,” says Monica. “maybe just… i dont know, make him pay you or something? but locking him up?”
“i gave him Mom’s room. the door doesn’t lock, so he’s not exactly a prisoner.”
“if he feels like one, it’s the same thing,” John points out.
“I hate both of you please get the fuck out of my living room.”
they don’t raise their voice, but the cutting glare they send them and the way they bare their teeth, fangs glinting in the firelight, send John and Monica from the room. Mercy pretends they can’t hear their whispering and heads upstairs to deal with their… Guest
he screams when they walk in, and Mercy can’t help but look over themself. they hven’t looked in a mirror in years (Monica covered them up long ago) but Monica brushes their hair. and their fur. and makes them take baths regularly. but they are wearing some of John’s clothing. maybe that’s what’s alarming.
“what the FUCK are you?!” Alex shouts, putting the bed between the two of them.
wow. wow. just wow. so Mercy grins, baring their teeth. their fangs, prominent and long, make Alex recoil. “I’m the Monster in the Woods,” they say with a dangerous growl. “and you have trespassed onto my property.”
(they hate themself for taking pride in the fear and disbelief that seem to cross his face. he recoils further, and he can’t look at them for days. he doesn’t leave their mothers room, and John tells them that he eats only the bread and drinks only the water they give him. they hate themself for loving the power they have over people. and they hate the disappointed look Monica gives them whenever they revel in frightening him)
“Monster.”
“I have a name, darling.”
“I’m leaving, Monster. and if I never come back, it would be too soon.”
“cute that you think you can escape me.”
(he doesn’t leave. they’re human enough that sometimes he’s not scared of them, but there are times where their fur stands on end and their hair swirls in the air around them and their eyes take on a terrifying yellow color and their fangs seem to grow, and Alex Krycek cannot move past them when that happens. and they always seem to stake out the door whenever he wants to leave)
(”Mercy,” Monica says in disappointment.
“he’s not free yet. he doesn’t know how violated he made me feel.”
“maybe you like having him around,” Monica offers, flinching when Mercy’s hair starts to swirl around them and their eyes turn yellow.
“why would i enjoy the presence of a human, Monica? why would i keep him around? let him stay? he is being punished.”
“your mother was a human.”
“and humans killed her. and now i am this.”
Monica can’t argue that.)
“Doggett,” begins Alex as John sets down a tray of food. “why do you stay here?”
John looks surprised, and sits on the bed beside Alex. “Eat,” he orders. “Mercy is…”
“Mercy?” Alex asks sharply.
“the Monster. Their name is Mercy. they are… lonely. we stay because we love them. and Monica and i know deep loneliness. when we found Mercy, they were halfway between human and beast, curled up in the rose garden. we were drawn off the trails by their sobs. they lost their mother when they were very young to hunters who mistook their foraging mother for some kind of animal.” Alex looks stricken, but John continues speaking. “Mercy … attacked him, as best we can figure. they didn’t kill them, but the hunters went back to their town with injuries.”
Alex dips his bread in his soup and asks, “why are they a monster now?”
“if you didn’t believe in monsters, Alex, i don’t know if you will believe they were cursed.” Alex snorts. “exactly. but one of the hunters had married a witch who cursed them. she cursed them to become the beast the hunters thought their mother was, and to be the beast they seemed to attack like.”
“a curse,” Alex repeats in disbelief.
John shrugs and stands from the bed. “believe it or not, but you cannot deny the face of the beast that keeps you from leaving, Krycek.”
“you have a rose garden.” it’s a statement, not a question, and Mercy laughs aloud, their eyes bright with amusement.
“do i?” they tease.
“i want to see it.”
“and i want my home to return to a private dwelling with no trespassers.” they return their gaze to her book. “we can’t have what we want, Krycek.” they’re not going to show the man who only calls them ‘monster’ and not their name their most sacred spot. he doesnt deserve it if he cant acknowledge them.
“show me the rose garden, Mercy.”
they stand behind him stiffly, and he notes that they don’t look at the roses. their gaze is firmly toward the sky. Alex could make a break for it, but the roses…
for a … monster who won’t look at the roses, they are tended to quite well.
why is this bush missing roses?” he asks. a shudder runs through him at their disgusted scoff.
“perhaps you should have asked why i was being so cruel to Jeffrey.”
“actually,” Fox says before Alex can say anything, “remember those roses he brought us…”
“the day your mother died?” Jeffrey and Fox exchange a sad smile
“ah.”
Alex ran his fingers over the stems that were missing roses. was Fox’s mother worth this? his mother … Mercy’s mother… perhaps they both were, in their ways. if Alex’s mother had loved roses, he would understand the sacrifice Jeffrey was making for his brother.
“they’ll grow back.” Alex flinches at the sudden proximity of Mercy’s voice. to his credit, he doesnt hiss when one of the rose thorns snags his palm but he does grimace at the blood. “let me see.” his body tenses when Mercy’s … hand… definitely a hand, even though they are covered in fur like a wolf with claws to boot, comes up behind his to hold his fingers open.
“it’s a cut,” he says flatly.
“come inside. we’ll get it cleaned up and wrapped.”
“you will do that for me?”
“please. I’m not a monster.”
he may keep the cut open longer than strictly healthy. but Mercy’s hands that look so monstrous bandage him so gentle and their eyes glow yellow in concentration, their tongue sticking out of their not-quite-mouth-not-quite-muzzle in a way that Alex wouldn’t call… cute, but it’s cute.
they tell him stories of their childhood after re-wrapping his hand. they speak with a fond sadness that Alex knows all too well. he lost his mother when he was young as well, and he has something of a found family too.
Mercy tells him how their mother taught them about plants, for survival, for food, and just for knowing.they tell him how their mother took them into the forest to help her forage and how once they encountered an elk so tall they thought he was a monster at first, and how he stared at them with eyes too wise, knowing they wouldn’t hurt him.
he learns about the constellations from them. they tell him how their mother showed them the stars, and that night Mercy takes him to the roof of the mansion and shows him the stars the way their mother did.
they show him some of the techniques their mother had for woodworking and they build a small bird house together.
when Alex’s hand is healed and no longer needs bandaged, Alex tells them about his own mother. they snort derisively over his mother’s stories of the monster in the woods (but for different reasons), but Mercy is enthralled with his mother’s other stories. Alex tells them which herbs his mother favored in her cooking, and how much he misses that. he tells them how he used to brush her hair and how she would run her fingers through his and sing him to sleep.
they both remember their mothers with a fond sadness.
and Alex no longer fears them, because he knows she isn’t the monster in the woods.
“come with me.”
“excuse me?”
“did i stutter, Krycek?” Mercy demands. he tenses, ready for their fur to stand on end or their hair to swirl around them but it doesn’t. they just look… impatient. not mad, just impatient. Alex heaves a great sigh and climbs out of his bed. he wasn’t doing anything, but having them treat him like a dog can become grating.
“where are we going?” he asks when they lead him from the room. they don’t answer, but lead him through the mansion to a room he’d never been to before. (in all fairness he’d never been to many rooms in the mansion.)
“here” Mercy says with a smirk. they push open both of the double doors dramatically and Alex rolls his eyes, stepping into the room after them. “it’s … it was mine and my mother’s. she was an avid book collector. so… was i.”
Alex stills as he looks around the room. it’s not as massive as a public library or a rich prince’s personal library might be, but there are several floor-to-ceiling shelves stocked with books. crammed is a more accurate descriptor. its… amazing. Fox would be jealous, and thats all the motivation Alex needs to approach the nearest bookshelf.
“you can come here whenever you want. i…” Mercy hesitates when Alex looks away from the shelves and to them. “i understand that it’s quite boring here. i… would let you go but because it’s winter… i don’t want you getting hurt on the road.”
a sneer crosses Alex’s face. “its not like i have anything to get back on.”
Mercy’s fingers twitch and whatever openness they’d shown him vanished, a darkness settling in their eyes and a scowl spreading over their not-quite-muzzle. “John has been taking care of your horse in the stables. when the snow melts, i’ll have John and Monica pack you supplies and send you off.”
“…wait. what?” Alex tracks them as they walk over to a bookshelf and piles a few books in their arms.
“you can leave when the weather is better. John and Monica will take care of you.” they give Alex a cruel look. “you don’t have to deal with a monster anymore.”
they leave while Alex is still processing what they said
(when he asks after them, John and Monica can only shrug. not even they’ve seen the monster… Mercy. they’re eating. John tells Alex that they take the meals they leave for them, but they don’t leave their room as far as they can tell.)
Alex spends most of his time in the library. Mercy’s collection isn’t as big as the town’s library, but it’s incredibly diverse, and he’s only found about ten books that overlap with what he’s already read.
he’s so involved in studying psychology books that Fox would salivate over that he doesn’t realize the time or that he’s exhausted. but he wakes up with a pillow instead of a book under his head an a thick blanket wrapped around him, his books off to the side with clear bookmarks.
John and Monica swear up and down that they didn’t go into the library after Monica took his dishes from dinner away.
(Alex thinks the blanket might smell like Mercy, but he doesn’t know what smells like them and what just smells like the house.)
he sees them once before the snow melts, and it’s from the library window that looks out over part of the rose garden. some of the roses started dying, but Alex was no botanist, so he wouldn’t be able to offer to help Mercy even if they were speaking to him.
Mercy stood in knee high snow, no coat but seemingly unfazed by the cold. their head was bowed as they held a rose in their hands. the bush was completely empty except for the one Mercy stood over so reverently. Alex watched them until they moved away from the rose, leaving it swaying in the wind.
the day the snow melts, Alex pretends to be asleep all day. he listens as John and Monica discuss what else he’d need as they packed up his few belongings (mainly borrowed clothes from John he insisted he didn’t need anyway).
Mercy didn’t come through at all. the next day, it rained and Alex used it as an excuse not to go. he went out and brushed his horse but didn’t leave.
the third day after the snow melted, Jeffrey shows up with Fox in tow.
they pound on Mercy’s front door, but they don’t show their face. Jeffrey yells at Monica and John, and Fox asks an absurd amount of questions that his host’s family can’t keep up with.
“Jeffrey said there is a monster,” Fox says when he sees Alex. Alex clutches his pack tightly, the psychology book he’d stowed away pressing into his stomach.
“it was enormous,” Jeffrey agrees. “with fangs like a wolf’s… claws! not quite a muzzle but not a human nose either! covered head to toe in fur!”
Alex snorts. “it’s not like you, Jeffrey,” he says. “to buy into Fox’s shit.”
“it’s not shit,” Fox snaps.
“and you know i’m right,” Jeffrey spits. “i saw it when i left this place. you’ve been here all winter, and you’re telling me you haven’t seen it?”
John shifts, a scowl on his face. Monica’s expression is carefully blank but three months in their company taught Alex how to spot how Monica felt. and she is angry. (had she been so angry when Alex first met them? he didn’t know.)
“ive only seen these two.” Alex gestures to the humans next to him and raises a brow when Jeffrey opens his mouth to argue. “why would i lie about something like this? if there was a monster, i would have seen it by now. but i’ve only seen people.”
he misses the dubious looks John and Monica exchange, but doesn’t miss the looks Fox and Jeffrey exchange. any further pushing gets the same results from Alex. a willing silence, secretive and cold.
“he protected you”
“he still left.”
“but he didn’t let those men try to hurt you.”
“he still left.”
“Mercy.”
“he left! he’s gone and he’s not coming back. get out! get out get out get out get out get out!”
“Alex, come inside. you’ll catch cold.”
“that’s fine.”
“you’ve been out here since dinner. Fox and i are worried about you. you come out here every goddamn night, ever since we came back. Alex, what the hell is going on?”
Alex points at the sky and traces his finger along a particular path. “Corona Borealis,” he says.
“what the ever loving hell are you talking about, Krycek?”
“it’s a constellation, Spender. created when, after Dionysus fell in love with Ariadne, Ariadne threw her wedding crown into the sky. the jewels of the crown are said to be the stars of Corona Borealis.”
Jeffrey scowled at him. “you sound like Fox.”
“leave me alone, Jeffrey.”
mid spring, about a month after the snow melted, a caravan comes through, absolutely demolished. they claim to have been assaulted by a monster in the woods.
with an ‘I-Told-You-So’ expression on his face, Jeffrey uses this as an opportunity to prove that he was right and arranges a hunting party to find and kill this monster in the woods.
Alex can’t deny it when he sees the wagon destroyed and several people injured, one person even missing an arm. there is a monster in the woods, and he thinks he knows who it is.
(he’s unaware of Fox following him when he sneaks out that night, somehow oblivious to the second set of horse hoof beats an horse snuffling)
“Alex Krycek,” greets John when he opens the door to cease Alex’s pounding.
“where are they?” Alex demands. John sighs, but doesn’t try to play dumb.
“in the rose garden.”
Alex storms out of the mansion, still oblivious to Fox entering the clearing. he doesn’t see Fox and John speaking, too focused on finding Mercy. the monster.
he believes the caravan and her people when he sees Mercy watering their roses. the not-muzzle has elongated into a full and proper muzzle and their lower half has become wolf-like. an impossibly terrifying bipedal wolf-human beast, watering roses.
“why?” he spits at them.
they still, ears that have grown to a furry point twitching at his voice.
“the roses need watered,” they say, not looking at him.
“that’s not what i’m talking about and you know it!”
this time they do look at him. their eyes are still human. still brown. Alex can remember the kind concentration when they bandaged his hand. remembers the sadness when they spoke of their mother. the excitement sharing the stars and the earth with him.
“my darling,” they say, voice thick with some unidentifiable emotion but dripping sarcastic sweetness, “i have no idea what you’re talking about.”
suddenly, words threaten to spill out that Alex bites back like bile. ‘why can’t i forget what you smell like? why can’t i forget how your hands felt around mine? why can’t i forget how warm it was to sit next to you? or how your eyes lit up when you looked at the stars? why can’t i forget the sweet sound of your voice? or how you sound when you sing? why can’t i forget how i hurt you that day in the library? why can’t i forget you?’
Mercy stops watering and cocks a hand on their hip.
“Krycek,” they snap.
“Why did you attack all of those people?” he shouts suddenly, unbidden. a bird shrieks and takes flight from one of the bushes. Mercy’s eyes widen and he watches them flicker as they take in his question.
then they laugh. throws their head back and laughs until it becomes a series of barks and they’re hunched in half to catch their breath.
“i’ve attacked people before,” they say when they can breathe again. “but that was years ago. when i found the men who killed my mother. i haven’t harmed anyone since.”
not physically, Alex wants to yell, his heart aching an racing in his chest. “a caravan came through this forest. they were utterly demolished. explain that, monster.”
their eyes harden and turn yellow as they stare at him. their hair begins to swirl around them. their lips curl and their fangs are bared.
“i have never harmed an innocent person,” Mercy, the Monster in the Woods, snarls at him. their watering can falls from their grip and they advance on Alexei Krycek who seems frozen in place. “i have harmed, my dearest Krycek, but only once, and for revenge. for my mother.” they stop mere inches from him and lean in, arms holding him still. “how dare you accuse me of this heinous act, when you know what i’ve been through. who do you think you are? get the fuck off of my property and never come back.”
he’s released with a shove, only saved from falling when Fox catches him. Fox…
“they’re beautiful,” Fox whispers to him as he helps Alex stand. Mercy’s ears twitch but they don’t look back at them, instead picking up their watering can and resuming the watering process. “is she telling the truth?”
Alex Krycek swallows. “yes,” he says, barely audible.
Fox releases him and steps forward. “what’s your name?” he asks Mercy. they snort.
“they call me the Monster.” their voice drips with bitter hatred, and Alex flinches.
“but you must have a name?” Fox presses. they don’t answer. “Alex believes you. but that means someone or something else in this forest attacked that caravan. and until we can figure out who it was… everyone will think it was you.”
“only three people outside of my home know i exist,” Mercy snips.
“And Jeffrey Spender is leading a hunting party to put you down.”
both Fox and Alex flinch when the watering can handle shatters in Mercy’s grip.
“when?”
“before sunset,” Alex supplies.
Mercy flies into a frenzy. they rush to the mansion and starts packing up everything. Alex, Fox, John, an Monica trail behind them as they tear through the mansion. the last thing they do before they speak to them is seal the library.
“take John and Monica far from here,” Mercy says to Fox, handing John and Monica the two bags they’d been packing.
“what?!” exclaims Monica, dropping the bag to grasp Mercy’s arm. they don’t look away from Fox, and Alex has to clamp down on the envy he feels.
“do you understand me?” they snarl. “get them to safety.” only when Fox nods do they look away. with gentle hands, Mercy puts the bag back in Monica’s hand. “go with them.”
“no!” protests Monica.
“please,” Mercy whispers. “please go with them. you can’t be caught in this. i can’t let you die. Monica… please go.”
“and leave you to die on your own?” demands John.
Mercy bares their teeth in what Alex thinks is supposed to be a grin. “A fitting death for a violent monster.”
they’re alone. the sun is low in the sky, nearly set, and Mercy is alone. if Jeffrey is going to kill them, this is how it should be. they find themself in the rose garden, standing before the bush with only one rose.
“i’ll see you soon, Mother,” they say to the rose, dropping to their knees before the bush. they bow their head.
John and Monica have each other. they’ll be alright without them. they might be in pain, but they’ll make it through.
Mercy once thought that when they died, no one would be left alive to mourn them. and only six months ago they were sure that John and Monica would be the only ones to mourn them. and a day ago they thought Alex hated them. four hours ago they thought he hated them. and now they know they’re leaving behind three people to mourn them.
“i’m so sorry,” they say, digging their claws into the dirt. they squeeze their eyes shut and tears leak out into their fur. they don’t move when they hear hoof beats. they won’t give the hunting party the satisfaction of killing a beast. they’ll have to kill Mercy as Mercy pays respects to their mother and mourns for those in their life.
he can’t be too late. please don’t be too late. please please please please please.
his heartbeat pounds in his ears an his legs are trembling with how tightly he’s squeezing his horse. his knuckles are bleached white and his fingers are cold as he grips the reins.
he can’t be too late. he can’t be too late.
he’ll never forgive himself if he’s too late to keep Jeffrey away from them. he’ll never forgive himself if he’s too late to tell them. to save them. to be near them one more time, even if they can’t forgive him for the things he’s said.
his horse bursts into the clearing of Mercy’s home but Alex doesn’t slow to a walk. they sprint across the yard, alert for any other sounds. he hears nothing and his horse whips around the side of the house. Alex pulls the reins and jumps down before he even comes to a full stop.
“mercy?” he gasps out, stumbling into the garden.
“why are you here?”
he faces them sharply.
“well?” Mercy bites, glaring up at him from their place on the ground.
Alex stares at them for a few long, silent moments.
“i will not leave you alone. i will not let you die for a crime you did not commit.” he drops to his knees beside them and presses his forehead against their shoulder. “i won’t let you be alone.”
Mercy’s tense, he can feel it. their words come out even more tense than he’d imagined. “monsters deserve to be alone.”
“then,” Alex Krycek says to Mercy, the monster in the woods, the creature, the person he loves, “it’s a good thing you’re not a monster.”

Would you ever consider uploading your Kekkai Sensen piece onto Redbubble? My friend and I are massive fans and I would love to own a print or tshirt with it on it!
Done! Just click on available products to see all the stuff it’s on! :D and thank you for liking it!!!
Anon said:YESSSSS qlu is such a good fic!!!! literally the writing is.... so good and so in char!!!! loved seeing art of it!!!!!!
YAH!!!! Asma’s one of my top favorite bakushima writers, she’s got such a good grasp on them and her storytelling style is always incredibly on point, I love reading her stuff so much !!
Anon said:I highkey love your art.
Anon said:Ahh I saw art of that scene before and thought I was content with that but OMFG YOURS IS FUCKING AMAZING
THANKS I’m super glad you liked it!!!! You shouldn’t make that sort of comparisions tho, anon :O
Anon said:I honestly love the fatgum fam so much (they're actually the only reason I'm reading the series alongside Tsuchako; I saw your pictures of them, fell in love, and proceeded to speed through the manga in hopes of seeing them) and seeing your art of them makes my day.
OH BOY I’m happy you liked that one!!!! And I hope you’re enjoying reading bnha regardless of whether the fatfam or tsu and uraraka are on screen, anon !!!!
Anon said:I'm ganna scream if none of the bakusquad members end up running through those doors and tackle Kiri tbh, especially Mina considering we had a flashback to her during his fight
I would actually point more towards Kaminari being the most probable one to react on screen, since he’s always got something to say in scenes like this one - and in general towards Kami, Baku and Sero being the ones to... confront? Kirishima specifically about this mission, not because I don’t want Mina to be there too! But generally as far as past arcs go Mina seems to be more part of the girls group than anything, and since Tsuyu and Uraraka were there too she might be between the ones reacting to Tsu and Ura more specifically (like she was the one to fawn over the two of them after their first day of internship) while Sero, Baku and Kami were the ones to react on screen to Unbreakable AND the ones Kiri spoke to about his insecurities to begin with... then again, given the flashback I do hope Mina will be proud of him on screen......... aaaahhhhhhhh I guess we won’t know until Horikoshi will finally show us, will we? ;u;
Anon said:slides you one (1) dollar and half a corn chip, "so um tododeku?" ps your art is beautiful and soft I love

Anon said:I really miss ur haikyuu stuff but u have stopped doing 'em... draw something for me please?😽
Can I ask you to not, like, dismiss the fact that I have, in fact, been drawing haikyuu? Aside from the last one, since I got this ask before posting that, but in the past month as I have made present more than once in answer to asks exactly like this one I HAVE been drawing haikyuu again - you think it makes me feel good to have hours of work been treated as if they never happened? That it makes me want to draw more? Just to have even more people come in my inbox and ask me why I’m not drawing haikyuu anymore, as if the stuff I drew doesn’t even exist? If you meant this ask as in “you’ve stopped drawing only that”, then I’m sorry, but bnha is the fandom that’s making me the happiest at the moment, I’m not stopping drawing for it. I am willing to draw more haikyuu, when I feel inspired to do so, but only if you guys stop treating hours of work as if they never existed. It’s really, really not a good feeling, nor something I have the wish to feel any more than strictly necessary - if the stuff I draw has to end up ignored anyway, then I’m just straight out not gonna draw it anymore
Anon said:Bi i love your art a whole bunch
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh !!!!! ;u; thank you lots!!!!!!!
Anon said:I cry, everyone you draw is so pretty and the background in that bakushima pick you posted a few days ago was amazing (the starry one, where they're holding hands), I stared at it for hours.
BOI I’M SUPER HAPPY YOU LIKED THAT ONE !!!!!!!!!! I was really unsure about it but seeing you guys like it is making me incredibly happy!!!!
Anon said:your KiriBaku Baccano AU is everything I never knew I needed mostly because I didn't think anyone else remembered that anime
You and me both, anon! The baccano fandom sure is a silent one, despite its name hahaha
(..........................baccano means racket in italian, ignore me)
Anon said:can you draw bakugou finding out kiri's in the hospital? ily
I’ve drawn stuff sorta for that scenario thrice already (x x x) but for anything more specific I’m gonna have to ask you to wait for after I’ll know for sure if Horikoshi will give me a canon version of that or not! I really do hope to get that scene in canon, but if Hori will fail me I’ll most probs fill the void for myself again haha
Anon said:GOSH the way you draw kaminari is so CUTE
THANK YOU!!!!!
Anon said:we saw Kirishima recently being taken on that stretcher, how do you think bakugo would have reacted to Kirishima being that hurt (assuming they're in love at this point) ?
Again, I’m gonna answer this one once I’ll know for sure Horikoshi won’t give me the canon version! If we’re lucky we’ll know in a couple of days !!!!! ;u;
Anon said:AAAA THE LIL MUMMY KIRI!! The newest chapter ended me, Horikoshi owns my soul and he aiNT TREATING IT RIGHT!
YO WHAT A MOOD
Anon said:OH MY GOD THAT COLLEGE AU WITH BAKU IN THE SWEATER THING WITH GLASSES IS EVERYTHING. I CAN DIE HAPPY
cont:I JUST SAW THAT IT WASNT MEANT AS AN AU BUT BOI NOW ITS MY FAV AU
GOOD I’M !!!!! SO GLAD HOLY SMOKES THANK YOU SO MUCH !!!!!!!
Anon said:Is it me or is Kaminari's fringe slowly taking over his face? I love it!
If you’re talking about my art, then yeah, sorta! Thank you for liking it! Tho I have to admit I’ve kind of always drawn it like that, I don’t understand in a practical way how with his parting that far on the side his fringe doesn’t fall in front of his eye and that sort of subconsciously ends up showing in the way I draw him haha
Anon said:i praise lord yeezy everyday for how much kiribaku you draw, you're the real mvp 🙏🙏🙏
;O; thank you my friend, you’re way too nice!!!!!
Anon said:I have that headcanon that Bakugou actually uses LOTS of emojis in his texts. Kirishima is stunned when he first finds out (and no one believes him)
If you’re talking about emojis and not kaomojis then I’m with you on that lmao mostly cause I feel like Bakugou would be a really lazy texter but would at the same time be the type to dislike writing without capitals or proper punctuation and so on, so to avoid having to put actual effort into texting he just answers (when he answers) using one single emoji and thats it. It’s up to his interlocutor to understand what he meant with it. Up until now the only people who get it 100% of the times are Kirishima, Sero and surprisingly Todoroki.
Then again, I do think you meant kaomojis lmao

the rise of skywalker = good
spoilers under cut you were warned
we love sheev the movie
best movie? no. room for improvement? yes. a really good movie overall and the characters were good and made overall good/decently logical choices? absolutely.
fin good. i love him. and the obvious hint he can use the force is 10/10 he did so much work in this movie. i like poe/fin or rey/fin. or all three together, fuck it, they all hugged in the end anyways
poe is good he’s a good boy him and finn are so good. poe gets a lot of development and care and we love that he struggles but loves his friends and wins in the end by believing in others to come. (he did think they lost but only for a second. he was proven right that people would come. thanks lando we appreciate you here.)
rey is amazing and her growth/struggle is great i love that she’s a palpatine that’s so metal. and she stays good oough yess. palpatine wins in the end? or at least A palpatine? the only survivor? no more sith OR jedi. just. rey palpatine and any other new force users like fin. FINALLLY, evil wins! kinda lmao hahhaahhaha
i like how technically the series stared with palpatine and ended with rey.
it started with a slave child in the desert (anakin) who became dark, and ended with a child soldier in the dark who became light at the end (ben)
-
the sheev-ening. we love emperor step peppers. he’s so good in this. force storm ya’ll!!
“hiS pLaN MakEs nO sEnSe!!1!”
shut tf up. either he possesses rey once she killed him, or he sucks the life outta her and restores himself once he found out about that bond power with ben or force healing whatever it was if she refused (like he did), or just kills her and sends his troops out to take everything over like. that’s not a bad plan bro. he wins either way. the only reason he lost is because the dummy killed himself with his own force lighting (AGAIN, DIDNT YOU LEARN FROM EPISODE 3 OLD MAN????). she did not strike him down, she defended. he killed himself, technically. she pulled a luke in that sense. it was not the jedi way. (though i guess by the end she is neither sith nor jedi)
plus he made an armada in secret the man was geared for success and had access to cloning tech too, as shown by snoke. if he couldnt have rey, he would have cloned himself or some shit. he has space voodoo, the man is scary and i love him for it.
-
ben was. ok. kylo was much more intimidating and straight forward with his actions at least. and ben switching sides made sense. what i didnt like was his ending very much. why tf did he and rey kiss????? they were enemies for 2 and 3/4 movies. they didnt even speak until he showed up to help fight palpatine.
there is a bit of tension but not romantic whatever, he just poofed once he resurrected rey anyways. rip all skywalkers 2019
she is an adopted skywalker and that’s nice.
side tangent bc i’ve been seeing some fans crying over ben’s death, which i get it if you are a big fan of him:
((i guess i was just way more invested into rey as a character than ben solo. he was. there. he was alright, i could see the struggle but the tone-shift from TLJ really threw things wack and i just ended up not caring too much when he died unforntuately. i wish i did more. i mean it was sad, it would have been neat if he lived, but i kinda saw it coming as soon as rey “died”
im like, oh, he’s gonna climb up bc of course he’s fine and then save her since he saw her use force healing, so he’s gonna try it. he’s resurrecting the dead so it’s either gonna kill him or really make him weak. we got the former so. yeah. it was anticipated kinda. leia dying was much more emotional for me i guess. the love between her and her son was way more impactful than ben and rey.
like i said!! they were enemies for so long!! he tried to reach out, but he was a slimey dark side bitch who was trying to convert her and she knew it and wasnt down with that shit!! that aint romantic ya’ll!! christ! he was only good for 20 minutes before he died and they didnt even talk before he just showed up! if they had more time really getting into it and if he was good and reached out to her to talk, that would have been way better and more convincing is all im saying.
sure they fought together on snoke’s ship and talked, but it was still very. scary for rey. and then he attacked her friends and rebellion again! bitch, why did she kiss him!?
nothing against reylo shippers, i really dont care, that’s your business, i personally enjoy fin/rey much more, im just saying it seems forced in this situation. they tried to kill each other so many times. that’s animosity, not love.))
WHERE WAS ANAKIN AND OBI FORCE GHOST UGH. at least we got all of the voices of the jedi past helping rey in the climax that was awesome (including jin, obi, yoda, anakin, luke, leia, ect)
yeah also rip leia. she should have died in the second movie but she was good in this and it really hit the feels since carrie is... dead for real.
luke was good in this!!!! helpful boy!!! nice boy!!! i liked the flash back to when he trained leia it was so sweet to see them young again, if only for a moment.
the han solo scene was good ough my heart.
all of the character’s choices were overall good and made sense in the scheme of things, everything was streamlined bc it had to be.
it kinda felt like 2 movies crammed into 1 but it kinda worked and that makes sense bc of TLJ’s.... choices and changes in direction.
i dont think this movie was a train wreck. it’d place it as my 3rd fav star wars movie. for now, i may shift things around but you get the idea.
my current rankings so far for main line live action sw movies
(rogue one would be at 4 along with revenge of the sith and i didnt care enough to see solo.)
1. empire strikes back (obvious pick)
2. a new hope (luke is best boy)
3. rise of skywalker (as listed above)
4. revenge of the sith (clone wars show really got me to like older anakin. and obi is just. 10/10 in general. speaking of generals, i love grievous. and commander rex. rip all clones and jedi tho. F)
5/6. return of the jedi/force awakens (about even)
[the thing about return of the jedi is that the ending whole section with the death star and vader and palpatine and the struggle against jabba were really good! it just a lot of other stuff is... meh in the film]
7. the last jedi (sorry had to do it to ya. also rip Phasma)
8/9. phantom menace/attack of the clones (ya’ll know why)
im so glad im rewatching the clone wars show it was so good and oughghghg so good. i love the clones so damn much and everyone so much
star wars good ya’ll
anyways, i already loved palpatine and im just wildin’ right now we love a emperor. a queen. a bad bitch you cant kill. just vibin. like damn, iconic. he said “do it” and everything. a meme legend and godsend
in sheev we trust. you belong with sheev. real sheev hours. the sheev-ening. palpatine-ception. you name it, we vibe with it
NOW I WANT A NICE AU WHERE THE CHARACTERS LIVE AND PALPATINE IS JUST A GRANDDAD. scary but nice granddad to rey or some shit. anakin is still around, they are all still around. just silly fun alright?
LMFAO ROTTEN TOMATOES PUTS IT AT A 56% BUT HAS AN AUDIENCE RATHING OF 86% WTF LMFAOOOO THESE PEOPLE ARE HACKS
the reverse of TLJ and i can see why the stupid irony lmFAO
the “thank you rian johnson” tag trending on twitter is wack and it’s dumb. his movie was dumb ya’ll. that’s my take and im not alone. im not some crazy hardcore fan either nor do i care that much about the politics or what ever. the characters in TLJ made REALLY dumb decisions that got their butts kicked and people killed over and over and it was not fun to watch everyone being dumb and dying, alright? wack. bad vibes.
i didn’t care for the “thank you jj abrams” tag either bc both tags ended up just being one taking pot-shots at the other and it was full of nasty vibes. just a lot of negative bullshit and only a few good comments just saying what they liked about those movies. i appreciate when people just say they like something. even if it’s something i PERSONALLY dont like, it’s neat to see. but when people bitch and moan, even if i agree personally, it isnt that fun. it’s annoying as hell, esp if it’s mostly unfounded or just repeated a million times.
like months later, or also about something from years ago, people still havent shut up about it. that’s when i get pissed off. like, sure, hate something. say you hate it, whatever. your blog your platform, go off queen, but then shut up please and dont drag it out forever. people dont like negativity so expect people to leave your ass behind if you keep at it. or get blocked or whatever.
negative shit all the time just aint a good look is all im saying. just love what you love and show it. it’s nice. the good part about fandoms is sharing love for media.
but hey, it’s your life. you do whatever, who am i to say anything?

Precursor to Disaster
FMA AU Week Day 5 Prompt M: The Swap
Oh come on, there’s no way y’all weren’t expecting something from my favorite AU of all time: @dailymaeshughes‘ Reverse Dad. This one is a doozy, nearly 4,000 words, so hold onto your pants.
Warnings for strong language again.
After three long weeks had passed, very long for some, since Roy’s murder, Edward and Alphonse finally returned home from Dublith, unknowing of the tragedy. The boys chattered happily with one another, made confused comments at the sad looks a few soldiers passed them, and walked calmly to the office of the late Lieutenant Colonel (now Brigadier General) Roy Mustang.
Hughes was on his way back from another fruitless hour spent in records. He must have skimmed through over a hundred documents over and over again, trying to piece together whatever it was Roy was trying to tell him. Roy was an alchemist--amateur at best, but he was an alchemist all the same. And Hughes recognized the hints of a code when he saw one. Roy was not one for codes. Wasn’t really one for subtlety, actually. But he had come to recognize Hughes’ codes and wrote with them whenever something important needed to be passed on.
His code was screaming him in the face across dozens of documents, and he couldn’t crack it, couldn’t make what Roy was trying to tell him make sense.
He stepped away from his fourth cup of coffee of the morning, Munoz close on his heels. His team was diligently at work, he knew, for fear of Munoz’s righteous fury. He walked, fingers to the bridge of his nose, past Roy’s old office and headed toward his own.
He very nearly bumped into the boys on the way. If Munoz hadn’t cleared her throat and greeted them in time, he surely would have run Al right over.
“Boys,” he greeted, lowering his hand. “Finally returned from Dublith? I didn’t know your train was coming in today. Did you find what you were looking for?”
“Hello, colonel,” Al said respectfully, right hand zipping to his temple politely. Ed scoffed and tossed his head to the side, not offering the same sort of respect.
“No,” he spat. “Teacher didn’t know anything about it. “’Scuse us, we’re gonna go tell Roy we’re in.”
“We thought that he or Mom would meet us at the station, but they must have lost track of time. I bet Dad’s really busy,” Al chirped, delight sparkling in his eyes. “We want to tell them all about what happened in Rush Valley and Dublith!”
At Hughes’ side, Munoz stiffened sharply, her eyes widening a fraction. She glanced to her superior, who frowned a little, eyebrows knit together. Ed darted around Hughes, and Al followed him quietly.
“...Wait, boys,” Hughes said with a sigh, stopping them in their tracks. “Listen...”
“What?” Ed complained loudly, tipping his head to look at him. “We’ll give you the full report in the morning, okay? We haven’t seen him in almost a month, and we just wanna say hi.”
Something dark, something sad and aching shot through Hughes’ heart for a fraction of a second. Edward and Alphonse truly believed that Roy would be on the other side when they opened that door, that Roy would be as excited as ever to see them, as cheerful and goofbally as ever, as if he wasnt currently pushing up daisies over three miles away.
And why should they think differently? When Riza had gotten in contact with one Izumi Curtis, the boys hadn’t yet arrived at her home, and every time she tried to contact someone in Rush Valley, no one knew where the Elrics were. The funeral had gone and passed without them, as per military protocol. Hughes himself had advised against telling them, and though Riza hadn’t much been pleased with him, since she was unable to contact them, she was forced to do as asked.
“Roy’s... not in his office,” he relented quietly. As much as he had believed against it, maybe he needed to tell them. Maybe, in the long run, it would be better.
Beside him, Munoz flashed a glance at him and nodded approvingly.
An air of suspicion drifted over the brothers. They split a look, and Al hesitantly asked, “...Do you know where he is...?”
“I...” Oh, but he was weak. He was weak. He couldn’t say it, not to them. ‘Roy Mustang is dead.’ Four little words that he had to push out, no matter how foul they tasted, no matter how much he despised them. But these boys, they carried Roy’s last name like a trophy. He just couldn't do it.
Let someone else say it. Let it be anyone but him. Roy had been his best friend, his brother in arms, his silent supporter against a world that would be forever against him. He couldn't say it; he could hardly remind himself at night after a glass of gin.
Let Riza tell them. They would take it better from her, anyway.
“...No, I don’t. The entire team went on a mission early this morning, and they haven’t returned.”
“...Oh,” Ed said softly, watching the ground.
“Didn’t he know we were coming back today?” Al asked, glancing at Ed. “We told them our train was coming in today, didn’t we?”
“It was... unavoidable,” Hughes said in a voice no louder than a whisper. At least, he thought, that wasn’t entirely a lie.
Munoz’s eyes went wide and she glanced sharply at her superior. She didn’t say a word of reproach, but her disappointment radiated off of her like a sunbeam.
“...Okay, I guess. Well... maybe we should go see Lieutenant Ross and Sergeant Brosh! They’re not far from here,” Al chirped hesitantly.
“...Yeah,” Ed agreed, quietly suspicious as he eyed his superior and Hughes got the sudden feeling that somehow he knew, “yeah, sure. We should.”
“Let us know when Dad’s back, colonel!” Al hummed, leading the way. Ed followed after him, frowning silently.
Once they were gone and out of sight, Hughes braced his circle against his forehead, clenching his teeth to fight back a sudden wave of emotion. He squeezed his eyes shut, took several hesitant breaths, then ran a shaky hand through his hair. “...Dammit, Roy.”
Munoz turned her sharp gaze on him as though to reprimand him, but instead she sealed her mouth shut to the rebuke and asked, “sir...?”
“Turning me soft just after I accused Armstrong of the same. Damn that man.”
“Soft?” asked Munoz, furrowing her brows. “Sir, I don’t see how that was ‘soft’ in any way. That was cruel. They’re going to go home tonight expecting to see their father but he won’t be there! He’ll never be there again. And you call it soft to lie.”
“He’s not their father,” Hughes grumbled out before he could stop himself, mouth quickly morphing into a guilty grimace at the words.
“Not their-- Munoz started, eyes blown wide. “Maybe in blood he wasn’t, but he cared for them like he was, and they care for him as if he was! Imagine how that would feel!”
“...They would take it better from Riza, anyway,” Hughes said lowly. He shook his head quietly, then turned on his heel to head back to his office. “Come on. We’ve got to get back to work.” Because anything was better than her disapproving glare on him.
Munoz’s mouth dropped open like a fish, gaping wide. She closed her mouth with a click, glared at the back of his head, and followed, seething all the way.
Al looked back over his shoulder, in the direction of Colonel Hughes and Lieutenant Munoz. There was a sick knotting in his belly, one that he couldn’t quite place. Hughes was acting very different indeed. “...That was weird, wasn’t it, brother?” he said to his brooding older brother on the way to Armstrong’s office. “Colonel Hughes was acting weird.”
“Yeah,” Ed agreed, arms over his chest. It had been odd. Hughes had started out solemn, but had quickly cleared the air, like he was hiding something. Hughes liked to hide things from them, sure, but he had never done it like that.
...Something as off. Al wasn’t the only one who noticed it.
“Hey,” Al suddenly chirped, jerking Ed from his head. He pointed down the stairs they were nearing, where they spotted a tawny head of hair. “Brother, look! Second Lieutenant Havoc! They must have just got back!”
When Ed’s attention was fully off his thoughts, he spotted whom Al was speaking of. And certainly, approaching the base of the stairs was one of Roy’s trusted lieutenants, files in arm. He was just about to start climbing the stairs when he heard his name.
“...Ed? Al?”
“Lieutenant!” Al cheered, hurrying down the stairs. He skipped to a stop beside the man, nearly flinging himself to the floor in his haste, grinning widely. Ed frowned and followed, slower. Havoc looked... he looked different, somehow. Something was wrong. And judging by Havoc’s wide eyes as he stared at Al, something was very wrong.
“When did you guys get back?” Havoc asked, glancing between them with frantic eyes.
“Our train pulled in just a few hours ago! Hey, have you seen our dad? Colonel Hughes said you guys were on a mission, must have been until only a little bit ago.”
Havoc’s eyes grew wide, and both boys noticed the distress painting them dark. Havoc’s hand dropped, the papers he was holding spilling out like rainwater. Ed bolted down the last few steps nervously, heart in his throat. Something was wrong. “Lieutenant? Are you okay? What is it?”
Havoc didn’t even seem to notice that he’d dropped everything, eyes flickering frantically between them and growing wider by the second. Then, he quietly asked in a breathy, almost frightened voice, “didn’t your mother get ahold of you?”
“Who, Riza?” Ed said with a little shrug. Al leaned down to scoop up Havoc’s papers. “No, she hasn’t called us. We were only in Dublith half as long as they were expecting. We stayed with Winry in Rush Valley for a little bit. Oh, guess what! We helped deliver a baby!”
“We didn’t help, brother,” Al said with a little laugh, handing over Havoc’s files. “We sat around screaming while Winry and Paninya did all the work!”
“Oh whatever, Alphonse. Anyway, we met these crazy Xingese guys, too. One of them said he was a prince--”
“You mean after all this time, you still don’t know?” Havoc said half-under his breath, but the quiet distress on his face was enough to make Ed and Al shut their mouths. Al glanced at Ed and opened his mouth to say something, but whatever it was was lost in translation between brain and tongue, and he let it fall.
“...Don’t know what?”
Havoc hung his head back and looked up at the ceiling, took a huge breath, and said, “you don’t knooooooooow...” He sighed and shook his head, squeezed his eyes shut, and the knots were back. “Come with me, boys. You need to know something.”
A loud crash echoed through Hughes’ main office as the door was kicked in, slamming into the wall so hard that it left a dent. Munoz stood from her place at her desk to scold the assailant, but he marched past her and screamed, “I don’t care!”, storming into the private office inside which sat the Glacier Alchemist.
Munoz would have scolded him right away had she not spotted the tears in his eyes, and immediately knew what would have happened. Keeping the secret from the boys had been a bad idea from the start, but even she hadn’t been expecting for it to unravel quite so quickly. She sat back in her place and considered her lap, flinching hard when the door slammed shut behind Ed.
Ed kicked in the second door even harder, striding forward quickly enough that he was able to kick it back into place and hopefully release some of his righteous fury. He stopped before the couches and looked at the man behind his desk who pointedly refused to look at him, scribbling his paperwork out with increased urgency. Ed wanted to scream, he wanted to scream and yell and far too big of a part of him wanted to just cry, but not here, not in front of this despicable man who had refused to so much as tell them the truth.
He opened his mouth, but the words refused to come without a blot of tears, so he snapped his teeth closed and turned his eyes away for a moment. Emotions back under control, he strode forward and came to a stomping stop before the desk, grinding his teeth.
Hughes glanced up his way, noted the expression and the tears, noted the dread. His stomach dropped straight to his toes. Had he found out already?
“You said they were on a mission,” Ed accused heatedly, his voice brittle and already starting to break.
Hughes didn’t respond.
“You said he was on a mission!! Y-you said he was on a mission and that’s why he couldn’t pick us up!! You--you--” Ed turned his face to the ground, glaring at his toes, furrowing his brows against his emotions. “You lied to us.”
“I... did.” Hughes lifted his chin in answer, lifted his brow, hoping and wishing to appear nonchalant though he felt almost anything but. “I thought, in the long run, you might be better.”
“Better?!” Edward shrieked like a banshee, lifting his eyes. They were shining under the light; he likely wouldn’t last long like this. “How fucking long did you think you could hide it?! Did you think that Al and me would just go the fuck home, all ‘oh, Roy’s not home yet, lah-dee-fucking-dah!’ Did you think we wouldn’t fucking notice when he never came home, when Riza started acting different and being different? How dense do you think we are?!”
“I never thought it would last for long.” Just long enough so that he wouldn’t deal with an aftermath he couldn’t handle, especially when he could hardly handle his own.
“Then what was the damn point?!?”
“You watch your mouth when you’re speaking with your superior!!”
Ed flinched hard and looked away, glaring to the side. Hughes hadn’t even meant to yell.
He could normally handle rebukes, no problem. Munoz rebuked and scolded him all the time, and he was in the damn military. If it wasn’t one thing, it was another, every day. But there was something about the way Ed was saying it, the expression on his face, that infuriated and frustrated Hughes. He wanted Ed to shut up, whatever that may mean.
He clamped his mouth shut and clenched his hands around the edge of his desk, willing his spike of anger away. After a moment, he asked, “where is Alphonse?”
“...he’s in Roy’s off--he’s with the guys.”
“Right. Well. I had believed that Riza would get ahold of you first, before you met with anyone who would tell you. You wouldn’t have believed me had I said anything, anyway, so I didn’t see the point of giving you undue stress until you were in an arguably safe location. I apologize you had to find out this way, but as is the way of the world, plans fall apart. Now, you are--”
“Where’s Riza?”
Hughes shot him a brief glare, but it lightened at his question. “Excuse?”
“Riza. You know, the other person who adopted me and Al? Did you forget about that? Where is she? Or--” Ed smiled a tiny smile, and Hughes saw him bite back on some sort of emotion he hadn’t been expecting. “Ha. Is she dead too? And you were just gonna wait a few months before telling us about that?”
Hughes scowled and shook his head. “Well, I imagine she’s at the law firm on fifth; I believe she’s been hired on as a receptionist there.”
“Hired--she’s working?”
Ed’s surprise didn’t surprise Hughes. Riza had been a stay-at-home wife since Roy had married her. Roy’s pay had always been more than enough to cover expenses. Occasionally she would fill in as a police dog trainer, as she had done before their marriage, but that only happened for a few days every few months and, with Roy gone, would not pay the bills. She had taken up the job the week of Roy’s funeral, desperate to keep herself busy and her mind from wandering.
“Yes.”
Ed frowned hard and pulled at his gloves, then nodded and turned around. “Fine. We’re gonna go see her.” He marched out of the room, eyes dark, completely ignoring the “I haven’t dismissed you yet!” from his commander.
Roy Mustang
1885-1914
Ed knew, logically, that this was a military cemetery and that every headstone was going to look the same, was going to show nothing but names and dates. But Roy was somehow... more. He deserved more. He wasn’t just a Lieutenant Colonel (now turned Brigadier General). He wasn’t just a military man with a kill count, wasn’t just a veteran, he wasn’t just a number.
He was... a dad. Ed had never been able to admit it, to himself or anyone else, for fear of a rejection on the level of Hohenheim, but Roy had been. Hughes had found them, but Roy and Riza had saved them. They had given them a home, and people they could love unconditionally. Somewhere they could break if necessary, without fear of a lecture. Somewhere they could just be the kids they were, because even if they were in the military, they were only fourteen and fifteen.
They gave them affection, encouragement, a little adoration, a lot of love. They gave them a family.
And now... now it was falling apart.
"I’m sorry,” Riza said. She spoke at the headstone, but to the boys. “I tried calling you. I wanted you here so you could say your goodbyes. But everywhere I called, I couldn’t get a hold of you. I wish you could have been there. He would have loved it. He would love that you’re here, now.”
Ed frowned and mumbled something suspiciously like “he wouldn’t love his own funeral”, but didn’t speak clear enough for his adopted mother and his brother to hear.
Edward and Alphonse had gone to meet Riza at her new workplace, and she had pulled them aside and told them everything. With permission from her boss to head home (the “they just found out their father was murdered” schtick worked exceptionally well considering she worked at a place where souls came to die), she instead took them to the cemetery to say their goodbyes.
Riza smiled and leaned forward to lay a beautiful bouquet of lilies over Roy’s grave. “Hello, love. I’ve brought the boys today. They wanted to say goodbye to you.”
“Hi, Dad,” Al whispered, and on Riza’s opposite side, Ed mumbled, “hey Roy...”
Riza looked back at them and smiled a little, then said “come, come. It’s alright. Come say your goodbyes.” She rose and took a step back, crossing an arm over her stomach. Al moved to sit beside the headstone, the idea of sitting on recently upturned dirt made his stomach turn. Ed didn’t seem to care so much, sitting beside him.
“Sorry we couldn't... come. We didn’t know,” Al mumbled softly. He swiped at his dry face. “We would have been here if we had.”
“Riza tried to call but we... we were so excited for everything that we were never where we needed to be.”
“We didn’t even check in. I bet even you were worried sick.” Al grimaced and lowered his face, picking at his pants. “Well. Would have been.”
Ed turned his face away and tugged on his bangs. They were surrounded by other headstones, every single one of them looking the same as the one that they stood before. That wasn’t right. That couldn’t be right. This couldn’t have happened.
Roy Mustang wasn’t supposed to be dead.
Above them, Riza smiled a soft, sad smile and crouched between them. She put a hand on Ed’s shoulder, and one on Al’s, and pulled them in close. Al leaned to the side against her, disbelieving golden eyes staring blankly ahead, and Ed just frowned at the headstone
This wasn’t supposed to happen. How many more people were the Elrics destined to lose? First Hohenheim, then Mom, and now Roy? Who else was there? Ed couldn’t take much more of this, of losing the people he cared for. He was a damn State Alchemist! Both of them were! Weren’t they supposed to stop things like this from happening?
Al sniffed after a moment and pulled away from Riza. Ed tugged away as well, glancing at Riza, whose emotions were starting to get to her. She pinched the bridge of her nose, face turned to the replanted grass, and mumbled, “I miss you... I miss you... I love you...”
Ed glanced around Riza to his brother, who shared a watery look with him. Al gave a soft not-smile and blinked a tear down his cheek, turning to their aching adopted mother.
Water. 35 liters.
The thought came to him before he could even hope to stop it, and he immediately knew what it was. Extensive, extensive research, back before Hughes had even found them made it almost impossible to forget. Desperate for a mother who had been robbed by illness, about to commit human transmutation had Hughes not stepped in and overturned their lives entirely.
Now, desperate for a father who had been killed in cold blood, not just for them but for their new mother, too.
The ingredients started swirling about in his head, twirling and whipping his brain from one point of the circle to another. It was like he was eleven again, preparing a circle to bring back their beloved mother. They whipped about faster and faster, suffocating and relieving him, until all he could think of was water, 35 liters.
Humans are made pretty cheap--all with a child’s allowance.
They could do it.
Riza was so desperately sad, so upset when she saw them appear at the firm. She had known Roy since they were kids, had kept in contact by letter for years after they fell out of contact in person. He had been a constant in her life for at least ten years... and now he was snatched away, and it hurt her. It hurt them. It hurt all of them.
He reached around Riza in a half-hug, but grabbed Al’s arm to get his attention. His eyes flickered to the headstone, and Al nervously looked as well. His eyes went wide and he glanced at Ed, but all of the hesitation that Ed feared would be there, all of the hesitation that had stopped them from resurrecting their mother, was gone. It was all replaced with determination. He nodded firmly, then pressed down to form a protective and comforting barrier for his aching mother.
With Al’s reservations gone, and Ed’s never really there, they really could do it. They had lost their father. Lost their mother. And now, they lost Roy.
But no, they hadn’t really.
They were bringing him back.
And maybe, if this worked, just maybe they could bring back Trisha soon, too.

au where isak is moving out and even’s the guy who helps with that/taking his stuff to his new place and while theyre outside packing into the car, isak hears a familiar voice greet him and he freezes and turns around and its julian, his ex, holding another boy’s hand and isak screams inside but puts on a smile “hey julian. what are you doing here?” and julian looks at his boyfriend, “we’re on a house hunt. moving in together” and isak clenches his jaw bc fuck that, THEY were supposed to do that months ago before they broke up. then he looks back at isak “and you? moving out?” and isak panics and doesnt think twice about what he’s saying, “yeah actually im moving out to move in with my boyfriend” and he wishes he could take it back or just run but he stands still and julians like “boyfriend?” and isak wants to wipe that smirk off his face, “where is he then?” and then isak hears the car door close and then even is walking towards them with a smile, work finished, and isak just. “here.” and even stands next to isak and is looking between him and julian, “hm?” and isaks like “this is even, my boyfriend. im moving in with him”
and he’s SO glad he remembered his name when he introduced himself that morning and even, without any hesitation, holds out a hand for julian to shake, “nice to meet you, uh sorry, who are you again?” and julian clenches his jaw, “julian. his ex.” and even smirks, “oh! didnt hear that much about you” and puts an arm around isaks waist and okay wow. he’s really thankful for even but also his hand holding his side feels weirdly good. and then julian’s boyfriend introduces himself too and then theyre just looking at each other until julians like, “how long have you been together” and isak and even a different length at the same time and fuck, isaks not convincing enough (and he shouldnt be, why is he trying) “we dont really care about that. we just enjoy each other” and julian hums, “we should have a double date” and even’s thumb presses deep into his skin, but isak is too quick to reply with a “yeah, totally” and he hates himself and julians boyfriend is furrowing his eyebrows but they leave with afterwards with “see you on friday then. i’ll text you the place” and then when theyre alone, even is looking at isak, “not sure i can do friday” and isak shakes his head, “no,of course, i’ll just make up an excuse. sorry for dragging you into this”.
and then on thursday morning isak gets a call and its from even, “so i got tomorrow off and..i could go to that date with you?” and isak has been pacing in his new flat for hours and he’s so thankful but tries to be chill, “i mean if its not trouble” and even laughs, “should be fun, honey!” and isak groans, “dont call me honey” and evens like “okay then, can i call you ..hm..baby?” and shit ,that sounds really good coming from his mouth. so isak nods, then realizes even cant see him so he chokes out a “that will do”.
and come friday, the four of them sit in a restaurant, silently and awkwardly waiting for their food and then isak and julian start talking about an old thing and even grabs isaks thigh under the table and isak faces him and even leans in to whisper in his ear, “if you want to get over him dont talk to him like youre still together. now act like i said something sexy” and isak is flustered and a shiver makes its way through his whole body as evens lips brush isaks earlobe and he doesnt have to act. even turns back to the other two, “sorry i couldnt resist. he looks so hot in this buttonup” and julian squints his eyes with a forced smile.
then later when even is walking isak home (”its okay, i have time”) they are laughing about the whole date, even making fun of julians jealousity and isak is over him (or he likes to think so. he’s really not, though) and then theyre standing in front of isaks flat and evens like “is this where i kiss you?” and isaks eyes widen and even chuckles, “im just kidding” and isak wishes he wasnt. even walks away with a “thanks for tonight, baby” and laughs and isak spends the night trying to fight the grin spreading across his face
a week later then when isak has almost forgot about all this, he’s walking down the stairs and runs into julian and theyre both taken aback and isaks like “why..are you here?” and julian chuckles, making isaks heart ache, “we rented the flat on the second floor..didnt know you live here?” and isak swears in his head but smiles, “what a small world!” and then excuses himself and almost runs out the building, texting even, “hey sorry for bothering but im in trouble if you know what i mean” and even texts him back like 10 questions marks and a “did you kill someone??”and isak laughs out loud, getting looks from strangers on the street then tells him what happened. and they meet up later that day at a café and before isak could take a sip of his coffee, even talks “so you want me to continue be your fake boyfriend?” and put it that way, it sounds silly and childish but isak nods, hiding his face behind his cup. and even sits back in his chair, “do i have to live with you or?” and isaks like “you could come over only a few days a week? or something..” and even seems to think about it long then laughs, “why the hell not. im looking for a place anyway”
so he comes over a few times, but that turns into 5 days a week when julian comes over on a wednesday and friday and even’s not there both times, and then sometimes he spends the whole week (totally only because julian could knock on the door any time and isak isnt strong enough to be alone for that) but they sometimes (most of the time) forget about the reason even’s staying. they become really good friends and its surprising but in a good way and isak really likes even, and he finds himself not thinking about julian that often but when isak comes home one day to even cooking in only his sweatpants with the radio on, he realizes why he hasnt been thinking about julian that much. because he’s been thinking about even instead and he tries to shake that off and act as casual with him as he’s done before but it doesnt really work, especially when theyre having their movie night and evens head ends up in isaks lap and isak has to fight the urge to run his fingers through his hair. even doesnt seem to realize how isaks breath hitches each time he steps too close.
then one night julian and his boyfriend invite them and a few other friends over and isak ends up drinking a few shots and even has a few beers too and then theyre sitting in a circle and before isak realizes, they are in the middle of the “make out game” andwhen its their turn, evens eyes are telling him its okay ,they dont have to do it but isaks drunken mind says fuck it and he leans in and theyre kissing and isak is dizzy and doesnt want to stop and evens hands are on his neck and holy shit its the hottest kiss isak has ever had in a long time. he drinks after that and somehow forgets that happened
until next day when even brings some water and painkillers in for isak and isak cant look into his eyes and his heart feels like its gonna jump out his chest and even is sitting on his bed and then hums, “so last night was interesting” and isak downs the whole glass of water slowly, trying to gain himself some time and then he looks at even, “yeah? dont really remember anything man” and he sees evens face drop and isaks heart does the same but then evens lips quirk up in a painfully fake smile, “yeah me neither” then leaves the room with a “hope your head is okay” and isak is ??confused. bc he doesnt think even ever felt the same but this did make it look like he did but isak doesnt know what he’s supposed to do about it. so he doesnt do anything and ignores the topic, acts like nothing happened.
and then even stops coming over and doesnt answer isaks calls or texts and isak is mad at himself for fucking up whatever they had and julian asking where even is makes it harder and he’s annoyed and sad and still confused but mostly in love with even. so when on his way home he sees even putting furnitures and boxes into a car at a house, he steps up to him with a racing broken heart and when even sees him, isak feels his heart break into more pieces and he misses the smile on evens face. and he wants to talk to him but evens just “i really gotta work, we’ll talk another time?” without looking at isak and fuck, that really hurts. but isak goes home.
and after he finds out from evens best friend that even kept talking about isak and how that kiss made him sure that he loved isak, he goes over to even’s and that night even tells isak he’s bipolar and isak has an idea of what it means, though he’ll make sure to learn more about it, and he tells him its okay and his arms wrapping around evens worn out body that night makes even believe that it IS okay and when they go back to isaks flat, even is bringing more clothes than he’s brought before. and isak running into julian two weeks after that feels funny bc isak realizes if it werent for him turning up in his life this many times, he wouldnt have even waiting for him in their flat and isak just pats julians shoulder and greets him with a wide smile and almost skips while walking out to the street, going to the nearest bakery to bring some food home, for him and even
