can't stop thinking about how aki5 is going to play out. if mizuki has genuinely disappeared into the empty sekai, what's gonna happen to vbs? three out of four of them were mizukis close friends. if they just disappear, whats gonna happen to toya, akito and an? like, toyas closest classmate is gone, mizuki and an were supposed to be second-years together, no one's gonna call akito “little brother” and he'll probably be extra worried because ENA. like aki5 is either a vbs centric story where theyre all blissfully unaware of the horrors that are mizu5 OR sadkito shinonome

also, what if aki5 is during/very close after the school festival? what if it starts with ena running to akito, crying? what if aki5 is ena breaking down in front of her little brother? akito will know shit went down and that something is very very wrong.

aki5 is either gonna be some sort of comfort for proseka fans after mizu5 or its gonna add on to the horrors™

they get competitive so quickly. i can feel it.

theyre also the definition of a ‘ its only okay when i do it ‘ person. like , for example , if you played a +4 card , they’d mockingly let out a loud whine for giggles. but if they have a +4 or +2 too , get ready to see a mischievous grin paint their face. theyd take this as a competition they have to win.

i feel like theyd trick you with their facial expressions and actions. lets say , you switch the color to one they have lots of cards of. theyd let out a surprised gasp while laying down on you a reverse card, two skip cards and a +4 card. 

half of it , they’re determined to win. if theyre feeling nice tho , mizuki will play easy for you. that lasts the total of maximum 2 rounds tho , they have a streak to maintain.

most of the time , you cant win for your dear life. if you do get lucky tho , they will jokingly get upset , but is actually pleasantly surprised! guess their talent sticked off to you.

i kind of imagine mizuki remaking the whole decks design when bored. like your own version of uno. the jirai keified version. like those making [thing] coquette.

about how frequently you’ll play tho? i think atleast once a month. even more , if you ask. they mostly play whenever theyre feeling sad tho , one game of uno with you lifts their spirits up and boosts their ego for the day higher than an americans appetite.

kanade surely played uno before with nightcord in empty sekai. it being , ofcourse , mizukis idea. its not like shes an absolute pro at it tho.

but shes not incapable of not understanding the rules , either. she’d take a strategy and maximum beat you 3 times. maximum. i feel like you’d be the better one.

i feel like you wouldnt play so frequently , only when you so happen to be over while kanades taking a break from composing. so things wouldnt get awkward , you always bring a card deck of uno with you.

if your relationship is established after the ‘ saying goodbye to my masked self ‘ event , mafuyu would oftenly join your game by kanades invitation. if youre lucky enough to catch honami unoccupied , dont be shy to call her too! the more the merrier.

even so , she does not care about the winner at all. kanades just happy to spend some quality time with you, even if its over uno. which leads me to think you’d let her win on purpose sometimes. her eyes sparkle a bit whenever she does get the victory over you , it is a scenery you cannot get enough of.

i think that after kanade has the initial tsukasa jumpscare they start to get along well but like. kanade talks to think man because even though she goes to the same school as mizuki GUESS WHO NEVER FUCKING ATTENDS !!! and once she talks to tsukasa long enough she's introduced to rui and nene by being invited to ★★★ SUPER COOL EAT-LUNCH-ON-THE-ROOF TIME [kool kats only ★★] ★★★ and kanade sits down like "okay. these people seem calm. theyre probably normal. i think. i can do this :]" and then emu. climbs onto the roof. and kanade thinks "OHFUCKOHSHIT NEVERMIND NEVERMINDNEVERMIND"

so they eat lunch and kanade is introduced to tsukasa's not boyfriend, tsukasa's not girlfriend and tsukasa's not girlfriend. and they have a good time !!! kanade gets along well with nene, but also doesn't because i think the two of them are the equivalent of the "shy people vs introverts" meme. rui is fun but kanade cannot understand that man for the life of herself. and. emu. so ironically tsukasa is the one she gets along with most.

so they hang out and also i think that kanade has tsukasa look over her compositions and has probably gotten him to play an actual piano bit for one of nightcord's songs. idk which you just gotta trust me. and one day kanade comes to their daily meet up thing which happens in the park because silly and tsukasa isn't doing his usual thing. bc when she usually comes tsukasa is happy and smiling like :D :D :D and helping out little kids on the playground equipment but this time nobody's here and he's just. off. and kanade can feel The Vibes but she goes over anyways. and she sees him and he sees her and suddenly he's happy again but this time it's all wrong. and she leaves and goes back home and she thinks back and realizes how Wrong all their interactions had felt. but at the same time it didn't. and she's trying to make sense of all this and talks to nightcord about it because who else would she talk to ??? and general consensus is "make discord server with him" so that's what she does. yes this results in silly tsukasa uses discord for the first time shenanigans. and they all start talking !!! ofc she introduces mizuki as mizuki but mafuyu and ena are left as "my online friends enanan and yuki"

tsukasa ends up inviting rui nene and emu because WHO ELSE ??? and rui dms kanade like "okay i know why you did this but we. are getting nothing out of this. also is yuki mafuyu from the all girls school that emu goes to ???" also SIDE PLOT with emu not feeling creeped out around yuki like she is mafuyu. just wanted to mention. anyways rui is like "i know who you are" and kanade is like "help me help you help your bf (boy best friend)" and idk how but eventually tsukasa just. breaks down.

it's not even anything special he's just in a discord vc w everyone and they start talking about fun things they did as children and tsukasa realizes he can't even remember talking to his parents unless it was over the phone and he just. goes quiet !!! and that's not normal because tsukasa is never quiet so everyone is just a teeny weeny bit worried. and then they hear this man. CRYING ???

so of COURSIES they all meet up in the empty sekai bc we love sekai mashups !!! and idk from there tbh im just bein silly atp

Mochizuki and Yoisaki

HELLO I AM SO NORMAL ABOUT THEM……. it’s the way that honami made kanade’s home feel like… a /home/ again. how she brought warmth and kindness to a lonely and empty place that kanade was rotting in. it’s the way honami cared enough about kanade to drag her out of the house and take her to a wedding showcase, as a way to clear her mind. as a way to take her mind off of things. it’s about the domesticity of them, of a housekeeper and a lonely girl who lives alone. can you get what i’m getting at. kanade is ALONE she is LONELY and she often doesn’t have direct human contact with people BUT HONAMI IS THERE. honami is a constant in her life, someone detached from her group (that she does also love very much) that allows her to not get vortexed into the same routine. honami MAKES FOOD for her. honami gets kanade away from her computer and her composing (which she has dedicated her life to, to an unhealthy extent (she’s working on it though)) and makes her breathe in fresh air and feel the sunlight against her skin. all with her soft voice and gentle demeanor. they are literally married a million times over i love them so bad.

Will and Grace

ok so the WHOLE SHOW is about how theyre more important to each other than anyone else. Will is gay so their feelings are never romantic. Grace gets married and we get like a 5 second scene of it, and then a whole of a lot more time of the two of them dancing alone on the roof promising each other that that doesn't mean they arent still each other's Person. at one point they try to have a baby together and only dont because they physically cant bring themselves to have sex with each other. Will breaks up with his s/o on the first run of the show because the guy wasn't ok with Grace being as big a part of their life as she would be, and he told the guy he did end the show with that he had to know Grace would Always be His Person (and he was ok with that). at the very end theyre seeing a house for sale but tell the real state agent they arent buying bc they "arent actually a family" but are best friends whove always lived together and are having kids at the same time and love each other and they want to spend the rest of their lives together. and the real state agent says "that sounds like a family to me." THEY END THE SHOW PLANNING THEIR LIVES TOGETHER WHERE THEY LIVE IN THE SAME HOUSE AND RAISE THEIR CHILDREN LIKE SIBLINGS. THATS A QPR BABY

oc sekai description but im not very good at describing stuff

an abandoned train station surrounded by woods, its been overgrown by a variety of flowers and plants in general. the station itself has very beautiful architecture, if you didnt know any better you mightve assumed it was a church at some point. the entrance somewhat resembles a stage, with its wide opening and a lot of room behind the wide steps that lead to it. The building looks pretty run down from the outside, but the inside is in decent condition and is completely safe to explore.

there is a roofing supported by strong, beautifully decorated pillars that stretches out from the entrance, and shelters the train closest to the building.

the tracks dont exactly make sense, with them leading straight from the stairs of the entrance and stretching out straight seemingly forever.

on said tracks rests the previously mentioned train, although from the outside its completely overgrown with only the doors and some windows uncovered, its cozy on the inside with modern furniture. the carriages all have separate room designs, ranging from a room in all white and beige, filled by classy furniture with a beautiful chandelier, to a messy, angsty room filled with potted plants, although theyre all rotten.

some of the tracks branching from the main one also have trains on them, although significantly smaller and not as full on the inside, some even completely empty. one of them has a garden, but most of the plants arent alive or are currently dying, as if no one was taking care of them.

if you follow the main track long enough, you will find a derailed train that seems completely rusted, broken, and overgrown, even on the inside. its halfway in a dark tunnel that also functions as an overpass bridge (?) of sorts for people walking through the woods, so they can walk over the tracks. all of the flora directly around and under the train itself is dried up and withered.

theres another structure visible in the distance behind the derailed train after the tunnel, but since its blocking the way and the woods around it are very overgrown, making it difficult to walk through them, nobody is sure what exactly the building is supposed to be. it appears way more worn down than anything else in the sekai however.

what if i went off about some of my favorite songs ever

kyuuyaku hankagai - hiiragi magnetite: everyone knows i love this. i just love everything about it. we really get both sides of the picture story wise with it- both the fact the world is literally, physically getting destroyed, and all of the mental torment the characters are dealing with. it still has that magu series weird wording but it gets everything across that it needs to. the instrumental is just as heavy as the scenario with added dramatics in parts that really make it for me. all the long notes to simulate screaming. the seamless addition of both the nami no ne no & rute furute woa motifs (& a possible 3rd? theres still parts in here i cant figure out yet) makes me so emotional. if u have no idea about the series its still a solid song. 10000/10 i cannot fully express my love for this song in words i just need it on repeat full volume for weeks on end.

ai wo - null: impossible for me to explain why i love this so much without oversharing. i keep telling myself not to rank this song so high but ive never felt so seen before. null's lyrics are both poetic & still hit every raw emotion where it hurts. the whole being left alone ur whole life & wishing it wasnt that way, that everything wasnt so empty, that someone could love u the way u need & never got. i want everyone to hear this song and i also want to gatekeep it. it became so important to me in such a short time & itll be hard to ever rival it

arikitari heroes - 150suzu: im not immune to nostalgia. shuuenpro is executed entirely different to aru sekai series & i have to judge from entirely different criteria & that said i really always loved how this one sort of summarized the series in a way that highlighted all the strife in it & made it subjective rather than an objective summary. the chorus is so high its like theyre crying out which fits entirely. i still have the video embedded in my mind & its been a hot minute since ive watched it. my teenage self thought it was so deep & even with a different perspective now i cant entirely discount those feelings. anyway i still really love it i could still listen to it for weeks on end if i wasnt busy keeping up with other things. i do not say it lightly when i say this is the song i have listened to the most in my entire life i used to spend Months straight listening to it. beloved.

tachiiri kinshi - mafumafu: i was sooooooo normal about this in high school (lying). its still high on my list of breakdown songs. like damn its been 8 years and it still holds up the same. between this & ai wo that just gives away 90% of my problems. imagine solving isolation by letting people in cant be me. anyway i was obsessed with drawing the girl from the video for a while idk how many doodles i still have left but she was Everywhere on my school work. normal person behavior.

jishou mushoku - nekobolo: song that has pulled the most weight in keeping me alive. where would i be without it. sometimes the mood is so bad this is still the only thing i can listen to some days.

rokuchounen to ichiya monogatari - kemu: the real reason i fell down the voca rabbit hole. still adore the song & find it hugely nostalgic, but there was a reason i connected with it when i was younger & being able to recognize how fucked up that was makes it also a painful reminder id rather bury. song fucks tho love how every rhythm game its in will destroy u trying to play it.

konmei no aji - savasti: regardless of the real meaning of the song this will always be a dissociation song to me not in the sense it makes me dissociate but rather in the spaceyness & disconnect it reminds me of the feeling but in a safer way to deal with it. personally i prefer rire's cover

taishou x - yurry canon: u will appreciate this song now right now its so under appreciated for a yurry canon song. god the fucking "i'm still living the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. as it is i will never be you. theres no reason in living, but just the same theres no point in dying is there?" [punching a wall] i like it a normal amount

kaiko no kanmuri - dopam!ne: god this song fucks so hard and yet its still edgy. i dont even really know how to explain what i feel with this one beyond i love it. its a kind of waiting for the right time to strike for revenge kinda song? idk its my absolute fave dopam!ne song i love a lot of his songs but this one just really does it for me

haru no sekibaku - inaba kumori: kutabireta atashi ga dame dattan da ne. yeah. the overall mood of this song hits just right all too often. sorry lag train this is the defining inabakumori song to me.

hyperlexia - yamaji: the space in this one also gives me a sense of vague dissociation. i just really love the whole reading between the lines not going to fall for lies anymore mood its got going on. a misguided sense of personal revolution that probably wont end in anything meaningful but i particularly like the song.

aaaaa thank you for that! there isnt TOO much of a story for the art tbh, and since im not a great writer i couldnt write it out so i decided to let the thoughts out on drawing :) they’re both getting wrecked by N25 meiko and kaito and ik that they all wouldnt know each other in game but i can use my imagination 🫶 i feel like they either somehow ended up in the empty sekai or N25 meiko or kaito somehow ended in the wxs sekai but they both thought that rui and tsukasa were…a bit too loud and annoying for them to handle in the moment (theyre excited and curious they want to know more about them) so they both decide to wreck their shit only to be like ‘theyre too loud…we might need to muffle them’ LOL i feel like they wouldnt stop until rui and tsukasa are literally crying from it and/or are about to pass out from the insane sensation of the tickles (however kaito is more of an ass then meiko so he probably WILL tickle rui until he passes out from it) and thats about it for that sorry if this is a bit long 😔

OKOK this will prob be just me talking abt the themes/sekais itself because vmvkcndnnf (i think the ones i DID brainrot about currently include double face, eden and most recently crazyb. however, all of them do have virtual singer assignments)

fine - something akin to a palace in the sky. lots of fluffy clouds and birds (doves haha), very white and gold-y

ryuseitai - secret base in tokyo. theyre heroes, so imagine it like the inside of a mecha, lots of buttons but since it *is* a base and not just the mecha itself, more space for them all

alkaloid - vermillion set. something like the alice in wonderland card guards

eden - the literal garden of eden. god miku is real

valkyrie - haunted (mika) theater (shu), really roomy and with lots of different rooms. all the vocaloids are basically haunted dolls

in a small list, i think the assignment themes i could think of the last time i thought about it was

crazyb - nightclub. yeah.

ra*bits - something like a big flower field, but probably some underground tunnels too? imagining their vocaloids brings me lots of joy actually.

mama - REALLY empty wild west themed. He *is* the only member so yeah, i imagine not only something empty, but it being extremely big and also uncanny

double face - themed after those fancy criminal movies, if that makes sense? big skyscraper building and stuff

bunny theory ! im all here for it because tha cat and dog thing makes sense. interesting how only tsukasa and mafuyus sekai are the only ones really linked to animal stuff (through the plushies and picture books).

the death thing in sekai..yeah. I don't really think I understood why in empty sekai everyone seemed cautious of the water because its not like its dangerous, right ? worst case they fall but they're with vs that would rush to help and they're on a ledge anyway so its not like they risk drowning. meanwhile in wonderland sekai apart from the island being flooded there's not that problem of oh be wary and sure its not like theyre trying to take something from it but idk there's something about it. also those two sekais having water is interesting if we want to go analysis on it. which I will now do !

so in mafuyus sekai, things related to her are found underwater, which only she can access and thus forces her to see things which she may not like (ex : medical textbook) meanwhile in tsukasas sekai, there's a ship unable to...yk, do ship things and go from place A to place B because the destination is star Island and tsukasa is not ready for this, implying he's missing something or multiple somethings (so far, not surprising). sooo...is one of the things tsukasa is missing is the thing mafuyu has access to ? in that case, that would be her memories. mafuyu knows the things hurting her and while she won't actively be searching, she still will because that might just have something about her identity if not the good girl persona. if we're putting this onto tsukasa, I'd say that the thing he needs to know is how he isn't just a star/big brother. the problem there is that...that's all he ever focused on. being a star comes from wanting to make sister happy. so tsukasa doesn't really have anything in that case, right ? that's the issue.

will also have to check about the map/picture book being present in vbs wl and now also mmj wl but the fact there isn't an equivalent to it is interesting. maybe because since its a group ? like the one person sekais have a personal goal from their creator (finding identity and becoming star) so you can show a progress on that but at the same time it does kind of applies to the group sekais since they all want to be idols spreading hope/surpassing vbs, so maybe that implies those sekais don't agree on one same thing ? it sounds wrong but idk just throwing stuff out there.

hot take ??

the only reason people say that "mafuyu and tsukasa have nothing in common" when presented with mafukasa parallels is because they equate mafuyu and tsukasa being similar to "tsukasa has depression" because the fandom equates mafuyu's personality to being depressed and nothing else.

it doesn't help that people (primarily younger people in the fandom) who DO believe in mafukasa parallels end up making the mistake of portraying tsukasa as depressed because as of right now he is not (although it's possible he was in past because of his Very Unclear Middle School Backstory but that's irrelevant)

anyways, mafuyu and tsukasa are narrative foils because their core personalities are built off of the concept of wanting to make the people around them— especially their families— happy.

they both developed personalities at a young age based on someone they looked up to. for tsukasa, it was seiichi amami's performance that inspired him to be a star— a hero that could cheer anyone up. for mafuyu, it was her mother taking care of her that inspired her to be a nurse— and you can see the similarities from there.

for mafuyu, her identity would first come into conflict when her mother expressed her want for mafuyu to be a doctor— suddenly, "everyone's" happiness didn't match what she wanted to do, leaving her in a state of disorder and eventual depression.

for tsukasa, his identity was something he nearly forgot in its entirety at the start of the main story— becoming arrogant and fully absorbed in a hero persona, forgetting the kind person he truly is. furthermore, his current character arc seems to be foreshadowing that what "being a star" to him is going to be called into question— maybe it is something more than just being the main character that saves everyone.

in mafuyu's first mixed, mafuyu feels insecure towards ichika because unlike ichika, she feels as if her lyrics have no genuine meaning to be expressed to other people— despite them being her very real feelings. this is brought up again in her second mixed as well.

in tsukasa's third focus event, something similar happens. when watching seiichi's performance, he thinks that his acting is "real" and feels inferior towards him, which is ironic because tsukasa has been method acting this whole time. when tsukasa is acting out rio or bartlett or really anyone at this point in the story, it's not just those characters— it's a reflection of his traumas.

just like mafuyu, tsukasa undermines his passions he's poured his feelings into because someone else's work is more genuine in his eyes.

now, then, foils have many similarities and parallels (and i could honestly list a lot more), but how i define them is that they usually have some kind of major branching difference that MAKES them foils.

for mafuyu and tsukasa it's pretty straightforward.

mafuyu's people pleasing behavior comes from external expectations and pressures— her mother's demands.

tsukasa's people pleasing behavior comes internally, from himself— if he can't meet his own standards, if he can't be the perfect big brother or the perfect star, then he is nothing.

and even then, there's some overlap.

tsukasa's behavior was indirectly encouraged by his mother praising him for being a "good big brother" over the phone instead of asking him if he was okay while home alone.

mafuyu's terrified to be herself around other people because she doesn't want to worry or bother them— she doesn't want to be a burden— and projects her mother's expectations onto them, not realizing that they would prefer the real mafuyu if they knew the truth.

and the concept of mafukasa being foils is most perfectly and blatantly portrayed in these two cards.

mafuyu, the marionette, sitting limp on the floor— puppeteered by her mother's demands and donning a mask to hide her true self.

tsukasa, the jester, standing above everything else— puppeteering silenced plushies— his feelings. he's not being completely honest with himself, and he doesn't even realize it.

mafuyu has cut her strings and ripped her mask in half. she has acknowledged her true feelings and expressed them to her mother, even if she had to run away in the end.

tsukasa has not yet cut his.
