1. ‘she’ is in reference to the “first angel” irene. in my ‘lore’ or whatever, there was an angel before the main three. however, she betrayed god and became the first fallen angel (so, not lucifer.) but, her name had been wiped from history and even the gods do not speak of her. so, she resides in one of four forests in the underworld. her ‘powers’ are that similar to the beast from over the garden wall. she feeds off of hopelessness, sadness, loneliness and those of similar trait. irene is most powerful when she is in her ‘garden’, which is a small creek surrounded by fog and various plants and wildlife. she feeds off of these plants as they were once human souls that she broke down and created to become apart of ‘her garden’, dark shit. i know. however the reason irene is after lorraine is because lorraine mayyy or may not have made some sort of contract with her.. and broke it :3 whoopsie!

2. the cross lorraine wears was a necklace given to her by her grandmother. the only adult who ever loved lorraine back before everything happened to her.

3. ok so, juliet’s father is a human man named ‘Christopher Walker’, however that is the ONLY thing i will say about him for now :3. and lorraine does know that he is juliet’s father.

4. i honestly don’t really know what to talk about regarding robin, i know ive talked about her backstory at some point. so ill just kind of explain her relevance to my rewrite and who she is, exactly. robin is actually supposed to be a parallel to jack. kinda like a best friend , best friend sort of thing surrounding will. she’s sort of an eye opener for will, and her entire character is actually extremely important when it comes to william and jack in my rewrite.

in the universe of promethea theres an immense number of dimensions, planes of existence, i dont have a better word for it. they all exist at the same time, within the same universe, its not a multiverse/alternate reality. daksari and cadaver are the creator gods, beginning and end, and exist in every level at the same time. theyre the only ones who can do this. their children, the lesser gods (like cinder) generally stick to a couple dozen or so dimensions. older gods learn how to travel between them and expand their perception, but thats not important because its not something cinder can do very well.

dimensions are fixed and cannot be created, destroyed, moved, or otherwise altered. not even dak or cad can do that, just like neither of them can be erased from existence (i know cad is dead, but thats a conversation for another time. also, lesser gods like cinder *can* be erased from existence, but that doesnt happen in the story and isnt important)

humans and other mortal beings are kept to a few dimensions and are not supposed to know about their existence or how to perceive and move between them. naturally, there are many mortal beings, humans included, whove figured it out anyway. in the case of cassandra, it was because cinder granted them that knowledge. daksari tried to erase it after cinder’s imprisonment, but… something like that isnt easily forgotten. across cassandra there are plenty of modern areas of teaching specifically dedicated to learning about this shit (one of them being the college that jack and ani went to and another being an academy i havent talked about yet. we’ll get there. maybe).

Francis in her own way always knew she was a girl…it really just didn’t “click” for her until she was around 5 or so? like she just hated everything about being called a boy or referred to by masculine pronouns and such, like it just straight up made her uncomfortable….and being a girl wasn’t as uncomfortable for her!! she’s got a lot of issues still with her identity (she’s def nb to some degree as well and she doesn’t even know what that is or how to breach the topic) cuz of. well we’ll get to that in a bit…

for Vincent? i’m not exactly sure when or how she herself figured it out but i for sure know that she started properly/socially transitioning after she ran away from home with Jack. they both def helped each other with like, discovering aspects abt themselves in terms of identity…and they were abt 12/13 when they both started having those types of conversations with each other

Friday is, unfortunately, still figuring it out LMAOOO and that’s a huge part of their character arc. they want to have long hair and dress feminine and all sorts of things “but NOT IN A FEMALE WAY NO DEF NOT CUZ!! TRANS *stamps them* but Friday being trans/genderfluid was like a lightbulb moment going off? like i dunno, ive never seen that kind of struggle before in anything i’ve read! like that struggle with gender identity and discrimination while dealing with yur lame ass on and off bf and estranged adopted child. they became more of a character to me in that aspect cuz like that’s so…HUMAN?? in a way? so that ties nicely back into their story if any of that made sense

as mentioned before Francis does in fact have like, issues with her identity. yeah she’s a girl but “she’s not a PUSSY got it? she hates dresses, won’t do girly shit, she’s not a whiny BITCH, and she doesn’t think about BOYS or DOLLS alright?? FUCK OFF”. a lot of internalized misogyny, which unfortunately was influenced by Thursday and something she’s like, repressed is that she wishes she was comfortable with femininity. she in a way feels ‘rejected’ by femininity…and she hates it for that. “why can’t she be a REAL girl? why can’t she be comfortable in that way?” so masculinity is her shield, what she feels gives her power over others, and it’s a way that she more or less protects herself…it’s def a safety blanket for her of sorts

Honestly? If you think about it, most “great literature” is fanfic LMAO. Greco-Roman culture is mostly people shipping different gods and Demi gods and whatnot hahahaha. And then Chaucer and Shakespeare, Donne, Marlowe, etc. all wrote fanfics of ancient literature, medieval British history, Roman war fanfics etc. like I don’t get the stigma around it at all. It can be empowering and a way to forge community and tell stories that you would otherwise not have the tools for or the readership. So…why the fuck not.

No, I totally understand what you mean. I think that sometimes the friends that you make when you’re younger are just through convenience and stuff. Like you’re in the same class together for a lot of the time and you get to know each other. Over time it becomes a thing of “history” like sure they’re so different from you as personalities etc. but you’ve known them for so long and you’ve all put up with each other so it kind of just…happens. Then you go off to uni, you mature personally and intellectually and begin to meet more like minded people etc. and form friendships on different bases. It’s totally natural to feel differently about your previous friends now. It’s part of growing up. Some friendships stay. Some fizzle and come back around later in life. Others just kinda….end. And there’s no one right way to do it for everyone!

HI ANON. um this is gonna be a long one.

so basically its a dnd inspired fantasy au, with the party as their dnd characters, classes pulled from this post , definitely didn't have to scrounge through my save blog for that, by @/elekinetic, if they didn't already have them. because it's real and true.

basest plot outline i can possibly give you is as follows; as young children all of the members of the party were Marked somehow for Evil and Villainous purposes, or perhaps Good and Benevolent purposes, but it stands that they marked. (by whom? well. tch. heh.) this mark comes with this innate.. pull? i guess? to the other members, but not strong enough to be noticeable, more of a seeing the others and thinking "oh! there you are! i've been looking for you!" despite never meeting before. the group starts as mike and will finding each other, before it all kinda spirals and they form a little adventuring party, led to their next destination by their faithful cleric, who alongside the original pull, feels another drawing them all to wherever the universe decides they Need To Be.

that's like. the concept i guess? i really don't want this to run too long so i'm putting more ideas and villainy and art and such under the cut :-D be warned i hate most punctuation and i love to ramble.

OK SO. first of all edward and henry are twins so jot that down. something Terrible and Unspeakable happens to the rest of their family when they're like 12ish and they run for the hills, eventually stumbling upon the mansion dwelling of a reclusive and moderately to severely insane mad... scientist? not entirely sure what brenners fantasy world equivalent profession would be. anyway yeah its brenner the twins are tricked duped swindled and had until theyre locked in his basement and become his newest experiments.

brenner is basically training them to be his guard dogs/weapons of mass destruction and is doing. canon typical things to them. until henry's like hey maybe you're right the world kinda does suck but id be sad if it all burned to the ground :-( i don't see how that's helping. (this is possibly spurred on by a spot of creelarke and scott chilling in gardens and teaching him that not all science is bad and mean and also that brenner is kinda full of shit) and for this grave crime he is locked in the attic.

vague handwavy magic plot bullshit (motives? where were going we dont need motives) blah blah edward has Marked/Cursed the party members woah oh noo!!!

this is mostly a vehicle to think really hard about fantasy byler and lumax and pre-UD-esque henry interacting with the party through their dreams to aid their Great Quest so try not to breath on it too hard. it may or may not fall apart.

they all have a more casual outfit for downtime and one for traveling and/or battling etc etc. you get the gist. dustin and lucas aren't done yet and you'd have to take drastic measures to get me to do anything other than type rn.

jack: allergic to a crap ton of things because of the werewolfisms (pretty much everything a dog cant eat). really into old romanian b-horror. watches far too much x files.

mk: okayyy uhhh. marc still regularly eats mres because hes mentally ill. they have curly hair. they still keep kosher. they have tattoos!! marc got their first one back in his teenage rebellion phase and the collection has grown since then (he knows full well that his dad would scold him for having them (from my understanding tattoos are generally frowned apon in judaism) but the 48 year old man can indulge in some petty rebellion. as a treat)

General Opinion over said character:

oh yeah there r like dozens of games. my fav is re7 ^ thats what the url means bc its tagline is biohazard and it came out in 2017 yada yada idk i just reallly love it. firstly the atmosphere is really good, i have had the game for like.. 3 years atp and yet im not even halfwaythrough bc it fries all my braincells its so scary im so tense when im playing i literally break out into goosebumps its crazy.

ethan winters is one of my fav protags in any game ever. guy who drove from la to louisiana to look for his wife that disappeared 3 whole years ago and his only reaction to the most gory shit is just to let out a "FUCK" the progression of the genuine fear at the beginning to his final oneliner just being playtimes over?????? (final boss is a kid) first person games r designed w a blank slate protag in mind so the player can embody them as much as possible but ethan is great bc u feel his progression as much as ur own. u feel the excitement and the adrenaline after the first jack fight. u feel as exasperated as he does after the second one. u feel as powerful as he does in the final gauntlet before the final boss. its so great i love ethan so much<3

re7 would not b the game it is w/o the bakers though. theyre SO good. the majority of them serve as the boss of each segment of the game, except for zoe and joe. jack is the regular stalker enemy type (follows and tracks you through the house) but his va is having SO much fun. there is so much emotion right behind jacks insanity. theres a bit at the beginning where u can trigger jack to cut off ur leg and instead of continuing to kill u, he'll stop and pull out some first aid med and let u reattach your leg (everyone infected has really high regenerative properties but u dont learn ethans infected til re8) hes like cmon son:) u can do it:) its crazy to me like theyre still human underneath the 3 years of torture and manipulation like T_T margarite is like a bug boss and lucas does saw traps. zoe is the only one of the immediate family who wasnt fully turned into evies control (the final boss kid shes the one who infected everyone) and she helps ethan through the game and its so interesting to me bc all evie wants is a family so jack is her dad and mia (ethans wife) is her mom and zoe and lucas r her siblings and when ethan gets to the house she wants ethan to be her father instead which is why jack hates you so its like this father and daughter tearing away evies family which is fun bc in re8 ethan does everything he does for his daughter so<3 foreshadowing<3 joe is not particularly impt bc hes just a dlc character so hes the mc for this 4hr game set after the game hes jacks brother. ugh while walking into the final boss fight u see this diorama a kid zoe made of her family and you know everyone is dead except jack who also serves as the final boss and when joe kills him he says this is a farewell from the family, brother. and its gory and fun but afterwards when zoe wakes up (bc of things that happened to her jack was trying to get her) joe tells her that despite everything jack was still her father and its like Augh. this game. tjis game

Ive been getting pretty invested in ATLA lately that I completely forgot about my obsession with Hijack. But, seriously, thank u (and Twiafom!) for the Hijack content; the AUs are clever, the art is stunning, and the ship works really well. I think I wouldn't have been drinking the Hijack juice if it wasn't for the two of you.

So, uh, if u had to pick a fairy tale (Perraut, Grimm, Andersen, mostly cause theyre the most well known) and make an entire HiJack AU idea inspired by said fairy-tale, what would it be? (Side-note: By "inspired" I mean adapt some of the elements/plot points into the AU, not necessarily "copy-paste and insert Hijack as the characters". Think Tangled or how Dreamworks adapted the HTYYD movies from the books as reference points.)

A) EDIT 30 MIN INTO TYPING THIS: I was doing mental gymnastics to shove them into Journey to the West because I was being self-indulgent but it just DOESN'T WORK and after I typed 5 paragraphs I realized the tale of Chang-an the moon goddess would make SO MUCH more sense alfakvskwge. I deleted everything I wrote lmao, gotta cut your losses. Jack would be the one to turn into a moon god/spirit and Hiccup would be his human love left behind. Think Over the Moon but not watered down hdksvsbs

B) I'd rather go rogue and just have them adventure around the world in modern day finding other spirits and legends along the way, I think that would be WAY more interesting! I want them to meet the Monkey King, that would be SO COOL!!
