I think I found out about the ship through this drawing, and have since been EYEING the DirkKri tag for any more content for months. Your latest post about Dirk and Kankri's dynamic has been my cup of tea that I have, frankly, been brewing over and sharing with all my friends.

awee thank you! im glad! happy to hear my musing about those guys is enjoyable! figuring out why the character is the way they are, what caused it and what makes them tick is my favourite past time. especially kankri and other alpha trolls, since they were intentionally designed to be parodies of popular then subcultures of people on the internet and in general (karkat even calls it out, calling them one-dimentional caricatures. ive been reading openbound again and the on-the-nose callouts that these characters are flat on purpose has taken me aback a little lmfao. i didnt remember hussie being this blatant about it, but tbh its been some time since i read it). but applying the Character Analysis Lense on them makes them so much more fun.

people just dont become like that just because. theyre never one-dimentional caricatures, so there has to be a reason for alpha trolls behaviors. its either an act, or something along the lines rewrote their brain so much it turned them into dipshits along the way. you examine the tidbits weve got about the society on beforus, realise it wasnt as idyllic as its seem at first glance, and weve got the ball rolling. imma stop myself there before i go on a even longer tangeng lmfao

quadrants explained!

quadrants are a fun and (compared to homestuck's other elements) simpler element in the comic. personally, i find them intriguing but i dont really make any pairings with them unfortunately :( atleast theyre fun to explain!! so here we are ^_^

overview

the quadrants are the ways trolls experience romantic attraction to eachother, and what their relationships are based off of. these 4 quadrants are as follows:

matespriteship <3

moirallegiance <>

kismessitude <3<

auspiticism c3<

keep in mind ALL these quadrants are a form of dating, whether feelings are of love, hate, pacifism, etc.

(note: i looove the detail of these quadrants having little text symbols like earth's own romance (<3)!! its clever and makes troll romance seem even more realistic)

in a more literal sense, the quadrants obviously take a liking to the 4 suits in a deck of cards. this plays into the theme of "bar games", with the pool motif of the felt/lord english being another example.

quadrants can be sorted into 4 sections:

red romance: <3 and <>

black romance: <3< and c3<

concupiscent: <3 and <3<

conciliatory: <> and c3<

quadrants

matespriteship <3

this is (probably) the easiest to understand between the 4 - because matespriteship is the same to human romantic attraction. trolls will feel deep respect and adoration stemming from attributes of their matesprite, and this is a positive connection.

moirallegiance <>

moirallegience can be closely described as "platonic soulmates" - but keep in mind this is still regarded as a way of romance and dating!

moirails look out for eachother. they are the first person you confide in, as you are to your moirail. they help eachother in pacifying emotions, and keeping the other calm. theyre mostly necessary because of the violent practices in troll society, and moirails help tone down their partner's violent tendencies and general negative emotions.

an example is karkat & gamzee: at first gamzee carried out the duty of pacifying karkat's loud anger, but later the jobs flipped and karkat had to calm gamzee down from his own murder-spree.

all this pacifying is done through "shoosh-papping" which i feel is just homestuck's funny way of communicating how trolls calm eachother down as moirails: through physical comfort. overall, moirails know how to keep eachother in check aswell as always support and be there for eachother, whether its over their rage, their sadness over a quadrant, or their all-out violent thoughts.

kismessitude <3<

kismessitude is a form of romance that perfectly resembles the violent society trolls are in. it is best described as a rivalry, with a deep hatred for your kismesis. but regardless, this hatred and the quadrant in general is rooted in a deep admiration for the qualities and/or feats of the kismesis, and its just that that makes the quadrant a form of romance and not animalistic violence.

but thats why its normal for a kismessitude to be pretty violent. you hate eachother, after all. and with this deep hatred combined with alternia's normalized violence, something's bound to happen, and fights will break out indefinitely.

although, often kismessitude can be too violent for its own good. an example being when the rivalry and hatred for eachother is too strong and you can end up culling eachother is when a 3rd person (and the 4th quadrant!) must step in.

auspisticism c3<

this quadrant is only present in kismessitudes, but not all kismessitudes have/need an austpistice. the auspistice is the mediator of a kismessitude for when it gets too violent, and someone else needs to step in and calm both/either of the parties down. its to make sure the rivalry remains healthy & balanced, aswell as keeping the pair away from culling eachother, because otherwise then its not dating, and just plain hatred.

of course, auspiticism comes in different forms. the most prominent example is kanaya in a (albeit strange) kismessitude between vriska & tavros. kanaya would mediate and talk to vriska, keeping her away from getting too heated/over the top and straight-up culling tavros. this is an example of when an auspistice is needed for only one overly-violent party member of the kismessitude, but austpisticism can be especially taxing when both parties are overheated in hatred & violence.

categories

now that all quadrants have been established, we can go further in-depth with their categories.

red romance

matespriteship & moirallegiance are in this category! this is because of the non-violent elements in both of these quadrants, as one is positively romantic and the other is used to pacify negative thoughts.

black romance

this category contains kismessitude & auspisticism. this is due to the hateful nature in these romances, whether the parties are mutually hating or it's a 3rd party who must step in on the hate.

concupiscent

matespriteship & kismessitude are in this category. theyre here because they are the only 2 required for troll reproduction.

conciliatory

this category has moirallegiance & auspisticism. theyre here because theyre the other 2 that don't have any reproductive activities and are mostly used for pacifying/mediating. sometimes because of the lack of reproduction people dont view these quadrants as equally romantic as the concupiscent ones, but theyre still a form of dating and romantic bonds!

conclusion

overall, quadrants are fun! whether you come up with your own pairings that arent the basic matespriteship or not, i personally find them fun to analyze/look over nonetheless. feel free to comment quadrant-related things such as more in-depth discoveries or your own troll romance pairings in homestuck!! ^3^

please tell me more about the stuff in the tags of your last fic, I love xenolinguistics! What if brother and sister were just correlated do to our gendernorms? What is sister in Alternian?

I mean, to be clear, that post is an excerpt, and far from the full fic which is still in process! But uhhh let's see. So in the tags you're addressing, I said

"what if 'motherfucker' and 'brother' are translated different but they're related words in alternian…. #what if 'brother' and 'sister' aren't different words theyre just translated in english based on gender but there's no distinction actually #it's all the word I tend to translate as 'kin'/'family'/'fam' but gendered by english-speakers for comprehension"

My thought wasn't that there was a word for "sister" in Alternian, any more than a word for "brother"! In keeping with the minimal amount of gendering I try to do when I write trolls, I was thinking there could be a single word that just basically means "troll who is part of my 'family'", (although "family" here is its own kettle of fish on Alternia, more on that later). To a conversational learner of Alternian, it would be fairly natural to translate it according to the gender of the person being addressed, since calling someone "brother" or "sister" has more linguistic precedent than the gender-neutral address I've used in clown-fics before, which is "kin".

(I don't think I got that from canon, as far as I remember I came up with that because I wanted more queer characters and needed a gender-neutral church term of address for them, lol).

Bear in mind my worldbuilding is also partially predicated on the way I tend to write the clown church, which is a little more based on real life juggalos than some clown churches I've seen written in fics--I like the idea that purplebloods are still violent assholes to each other, but that they have a weird kind of cohesion, a default allyship with each other via the church that isn't quadranted and isn't necessarily in cahoots, but just expects a certain amount of kinship. "Family", or "troll-closer-than-friend", something that's not quite a quadrant but is closer than the average troll gets to have with other trolls, usually. I like the thought of other blood castes finding that deeply unsettling--and I also feel like it makes a certain amount of sense; both for the sort of weird troll equivalent of an ethnoreligious group and also for a comparatively smaller ruling class that has to keep the much more numerous, psionically-gifted masses in line.

But also as individuals they will certainly still challenge, undercut, and murder each other sometimes haha. They're Alternian trolls after all. ANYWAY

Terms of address in Alternian are actually a really fun concept, especially if I was playing around with the concept I talked about a little in later tags on that same post--that you can present yourself as a superior, inferior, or intentionally give zero inflection either way, which is risky in its own way if the person you're speaking to doesn't agree that you're equals. That actually meshes nicely with one of the few bits of xenolinguistics we do get in the comic, which is that apparently the troll word for "friend" is the same as the word for "enemy"! Which you could work in a couple of ways!

the word just essentially does mean "friend"/"troll I'm close to"--if you are actually friends, then cool. If not, it becomes more like a guy in a bar calling you "pal" and stepping into your space. Humans have their own dominance and submission tone indicators, and imposing closeness or familiarity on a person you aren't familiar with to that degree can be a threat in any language, so it would feel right to me if Alternian had the same thing but much more aggressively codified.

The word is understood as "friend" when it's said in a submissive/friendly/fawning stance, and "enemy" when it's said by a superior or dominant troll. This is actually also fun because it means that unless a highblood is explicitly lowering themself to use a less dominant tone, they're speaking to their social inferiors with pretty overt hostility.

To bring it back around to the original topic, I honestly like option two a little better--if any term of address can be dominant/hostile, submissive/fawning or neutral/equal, then Gamzee when he's introduced using the "equals" inflection of "brother/sister/etc" would carry on his canon vibe of not really acting like A Real Highblood. And then when murderstuck hit, he could drop all the way to a supposedly super friendly and harmless inflection on the "it's me :o)" sentences and an aggressive one on the "AND ALSO ME :o(" sentences.

"Motherfucker" is a fun one because carrying on the thought I was having in those tags, I was imagining "motherfucker" would be a very similar word in Alternian to "kin"--but smushed together with the Alternian for "fuck" and used in all sorts of ungrammatical ways. "Motherfucker" would make sense to me as an Anglicization of a word that in Alternian might mean something more like "(friend-closer-than-friend)fucker". After all, trolls don't have mothers--I think I've written before with the alternate headcanon that it refers to the Mother Grub, and is kind of profane/gross in that sense, but I also like the concept that part of the reason that we see so many purplebloods throwing "motherfuck(ing/er)" around is because they're also the ones who have a concept of "family" via the church, and a nonexistent translator was like "for readability I have not translated this literally but have instead used the nearest human equivalent" lol.

so like no 🥴 i usually try to refrain from like being too assertive abt (what i believe to be) landos dyslexia in public bc it feels kind of shit of me as a non-dyslexic person to armchair diagnose him with it, despite what i think. i kind of forgot abt that in my infodump because i was too excited by talking abt landos accent and bc it was 7 am... but like i usually kind of try to recognise that its not my place

but yeah tldr on the actual topic of if lando's got dyslexia, its kind of a grey area. in that he himself hints at it multiple times (complaining about a game being unfriendly to dyslexic people in a quadrant vid, 'cancelling' maxf for ableism on stream once for making fun of his mispronounciations). BUT he followed that last one up with 'now they're gonna cancel me, because i'm not actually dyslexic, am i' so like make of that what u will🤷🏻‍♀️ whether its him not wanting to b public with it or him genuinely believing he doesnt have it we dont actually know

all that said, his dad is vocal abt his own dyslexia, and from the pattern of landos misspellings and mispronounciations its pretty clear to me that they're not just him being 'dumb' or sloppy. all of which makes it very very likely that he is indeed dyslexic. this is kind of why i struggle w knowing whether i should talk abt it or not - on one hand he seems to either be private abt it or (unlikely but possible) not even aware he has it, so i as a random obsessive fan on the internet am being invasive in 'diagnosing him'. but on the other hand, a lot of people make fun of landos 'stupid moments' in a way that to me comes across as SO obviously ableist that its difficult to hold my tongue. not that any of what i say affects anything on tumblr of all platforms lmao

3. How would you describe your writing style?

A runaway circus train. 😆 it purportedly has routes and scheduled stops and dedicated professional acts. but it keeps picking up new performers, new animals, pop up shows and sight seeing tours. It puts on a great show but it goes nowhere quickly.

4. Do you have any OCs? Do you have a story for them?

Hehe *twirls hair* I have a few next gens for each series I've written a big work for. Only a few have gotten to come out and play in a fic yet. I'll elaborate if you like but I know next gen babies are kinda boring to most people so I wont go diving into those 😅 And lots of characters that arent *strictly* OCs like theyre in canon for an episode, I just wanna keep them around.

I do have one idea for an OC adult is a Dominion war refugee - either an escaped prisoner or just a civilian who wound up running the wrong way.

They wind up in the Delta Quadrant via unstable wormhole or Borg intervention and of course into Voyagers path (still workshopping this). And they wind up on the ship in Season 5. Its a time period after Voyager finds out about the war beginning (and the Maquis being destroyed) but before they get contact with home again. So I think this non Starfleet person could be a really interesting window into whats going on at home and also a good foil to the Voyagers, who might need an outsider to show them there is a lot to enjoy about their situation.

I'm not sure what role she'd play on the ship yet but I do want her to be a Betazoid because Voyager would have been more fun with more telepaths.

Hihi!! Ashen ships are DEFINITELY the most underrated ships ever, and it’s a shame because they’re so interesting!!

Okay, so I’ve been watching a lot of Spy X Family lately (if you haven’t seen it, I HIGHLY recommend it), and I think there’s a case to be made for ashen Loid/Yor/Franky.

In general Loid/Yor could use an auspistice because of the huge risk associated with if they have a falling out or realize each other’s secret identity. They NEED a neutralizing force, and additional structural beam to keep them steady, and I think Franky is the best choice so far.

There’s also that soulmate like element I associate with conciliatory quads, in things like Yor being a bad cook and Loid a good one, while also having that missing link.

Loid’s lack of trust and urge to go too far is part of that missing link. I was watching the episode where Loid and Franky go under cover to figure out if Yor knows about her brother’s actual job, and both Franky and Loid keep each other from going too far in either direction that they’re pulling.

Now, Rainy, you may ask, why ashen? Why not make Franky and Loid pale? Sure, someone could do that, and I think it’s a valid interpretation, but I do genuinely think that until they can be honest with each other, Loid and Yor shouldn’t be pitch or flush.

Thus, the next best way to keep each other around in a healthy way is auspisticism. At least, from the perspective of quadrants.

this is like that extended quadrant chart thing, except less painful to look at. but still. why would anyone need this lol. it does feel like something i would spend hours making and then forget about immediately though lol

haha ive never thought aroused being a sub category of happy… or really any of them for that matter, but i guess this has enlightened me.

1. YOU MUST BE WILLING TO WATCH CRINGE SHIT BC I PROMISE THERES SOME SEASONS OF SOME TREKS THAT ARE JUST THE FUCKING WORSE BUT ARE SO VITAL TO WATCH SO YOU HAVE THE CONTEXT FOR LATER AND MUCH BETTER EPISODES.

2. OK BUCKLE UP YOU READY FOR AN IN DEPTH DISCUSSION ON WHICH TREKS ARE WHICH

heres a key bc im gonna be using some abbreviations

tos - the orginal series (the one with spock) tng - the next generation (the one with data) ds9 - deep space nine (the one with transgender worms) voy - voyager (the one with janeway, the best captain in the delta quadrant) ent - enterprise (nobody likes this one bc of the post 9/11 nationalism) (also known as the series that had mpreg in the second episode) aos - alternate original series (the one with spock but theyre homophobic) (aka the 2009 remakes) disco - discovery (the one with the mushrooms) picard - picard (picard) lds - lower decks (bobs burgers but its star trek)

OK, SO NOW THAT WE GOT THOSE ESTABLISHED WE GOTTA GET YOU THE VIEWING ORDERS THAT MOST PEOPLE USE

some people watch the show in CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER FROM RELEASE. this is the order from when the shows were made. it goes TOS, TNG, DS9, VOY, ENT, AOS, DISCO, PICARD, LDS.

the benefits in watching it in chronological order is that you can slowly see the special effects get better over time, you can watch star trek from the "beginning" and have a good grasp on where the writers were going with each characters in each series. its pretty cool, because you can see the rise in popularity. the cons are that you have to start with the most horrible special effects of all fucking time and it gets worse before it gets better.

however, there is ANOTHER order that i like to call the "fun order" because it skips around the timeline a little. you start with TNG, then DS9, then VOY and then you can watch the other treks in whatever order you want. this is fun if you have less time and just want to get the main story out of the way so you can watch Lower Decks.

there's also the "timeline" order, which goes ENT, DISCO, TOS, TNG, DS9, VOY, LSD, and then PICARD. AOS is not included in this list because its technically an alternative timeline, so you can just watch those three movies afterwards. the benefits is that you get to see humans starting out their exploration in the galaxy and expand as the show goes on. the cons are that it deffff jumps around in quality (disco is famous for being kinda like a netflix series, or one really drawn out movie while ent and tos are "monster of the week" style episodes). another con is that you have to watch ENT, which has a guy growing nipples on his hand in the 2nd episode because he put his hand in a bowl of rocks with an alien and got man pregnant. trust me this is not the worst episode you will watch.

theres also the "fuck around and find out" order where you read all of the wikipedia summeries of each show and start with the one with the coolest sounding plot

I was trying so hard not to think abt this bc I’m not even in the writing stage of act 3, LET ALONE ACT 5 (1-2), but. whatevver

so I have talked a bit about pagerose, abt how they sort of parallel each other in colors and classpects, and I think they are the biggest nerds together, Page is easily impressed by anything sounding prose-y and intricate, but also knows when Rose is talking out of her ass. Rose is endeared and also kind of freaked out at how earnest Page is. theyre the prophet gfs <3

pagedave is peak 2009 tween internet romance. I think they are so cute together, Page is so unironic about everything, Dave is neck deep in irony, she’s gonna pull him out so help her dave please just learn how to enjoy things with your whole heart. they’re just cute together :)

pagetav and gampage and gamtav are all real 👍 tav is page’s patron troll, page and gamzee have the connection of both being rage players, they were kind of the first relationships I had in mind, but now it is VERY up in the air bc. im not even done with act 1

pagekat is REAL and they are BEAUTIFUL <3 they are sooo pitch but then karkat feels sooo flushed for her it’s not even funny. page is so tired of him being a self hating little crabby guy, she’s gonna make fun of him while also trying to help him out, karkat wants to knock her off the pedestal she’s seemingly put herself on while also trying to show her how self destructive she’s being (ALSO karkat c3< dave/jade c3< page are real bc I think it would be funny)

porren is also very cool I think, I think rennoa would be obsessed about porrim having drank her blood, makes her feel some way

Who is more likely to hurt the other: *drumroll* JULIAN!!! why do i think this??? cause garak is comfortable with him, its been years and only now does he finally feel safe, and with safety comes ✨resurfacing abandonment issues✨, garak couldnt hurt him!! julian, on the other hand has duties, morals, if he absolutely needed to, he would hurt garak for the greater good, to garak, the greatest good there is is julian.

Who is emotionally stronger: this is like the "which is heavier, a pound of feathers or a pound of gold" there both such traumatized bitches with bad coping mechanisms so i dont think the answer is black or white because theres a diaspora of different ways you need to consider both of their lives and experiences before even TACKLING this question

Who is physically stronger: i think it's julian because of the augment stuff in theory but in practice its garak, julian only uses his augmented strength in dire situations (or if hes drunk and needs a neat party trick), but garak is the one who like moves their furniture or does hand to hand combat because julians role in the marriage (regardless of their marital status) is to sit there looking pretty

More likely to break a bone: julian, mans is built like a twig (affectionate) and also just gives of weak bitch energy (affectionate) whereas garak... like could you REALLY actually fight garak and cause any damage?? like ik he gets punched repeatedly (comedy) but in an actual scenario? doubtful

Who knows the best way to upset the other: oh so foreplay i think they both always try and upstage the other in terms of annoyance, garak being an intelligence agent picked up on what annoys or ticks julian off but he doesnt have the unparalleled cringefail energy of Julian Subatoi Bashir, besides riling up garak is step one to a fun night for those two ;)

Who is most likely to apologise first after an argument: julian. you think Elim "Certifiably Petty" Garak is gonna be the FIRST to apologise?? no way. hell apologise eventually but in a really... garak way ykwim?? subtly admitting hes wrong and with a shit eating grin or smt

Who treats who's wounds more often?: i mean julian obviously, the fondly calling garak idiot in an exasperated way, a soft kiss on the hand as hes convalescing and the like, but if julian so much as stubs his toe garak is preparing a quadrant wide ban on furniture

Who is in constant need of comfort?: Theyre both cuddly and sweet and kinda codependent sometimes, but garak IS a lizard man and a heat seeking missile and hes gotten the taste of love and will be damned if he loses it

Who gets more jealous: Garak is jealous more often and is super vengeful, like you even LOOK at julian in an inviting way and its a gambit to see if you live through the night. but BUT i love jealous julian with my whole heart and have a great many opinions and scenarios if anyone wants em

Who will propose: *alec baldwin voice* i was just thinking about this and i think its *drumroll* JULIAN cause garak wont actually believe julian wants to be with him forever, hell think julian feels like he has to say yes because hes compassionate and too good for this world, so he wont object. Garak feels like hell be coercing julian and since he refuses to hurt him, julian knows its up to him (but of course garak is the kind of gay whos had his wedding planned since he was 7 but figured due to his job and general unlovability in his opinion, a dream was all it was) (note: the alec baldwin thing is an snl reference)

Who has the most difficult parents: REALLY??? i mean both of their parents are so bad, so abusive, and so deserving of being shoved out of an airlock with no mercy. they both did similar things to their kids, changing them, breaking them and rebuilding them in a more suitable vision in their eyes, and without either kid's consent! tain(t)'s abuse may seem worse because he completely used his son while not even acknowledging his paternity, and so one might think that thats the natural decision, but lets not breeze past physically changing a person they deemed unworthy of even a *CHANCE* and completely psychologically remaking them.

Who initiates hand-holding in public: Julian, usually. hes a generally touchy person and physical contact is natural, easy, he does it with as much thought as blinking. garak initiates sometimes, but thats just if someone is ogling his husband and he needs to show them hes accounted for.

Who comes up for the other all the time: i dont actually understand this question but this is how i interpret it, i think garak just randomly pops up in med bay all the time, just like "oops i stapled my hand, why dont you tenderly caress it while addressing my wound and fondly calling me an idiot.", julian is usually pretty busy what with saving lives and whatnot so garak is more than happy to visit him

Who hogs the blankets?: lizard man, i know this because as a person who is always cold i in fact need a nest. julian, the furnace of the relationship, is happy to keep his husband warm tho and usually ends up the little spoon anyway, and if its really THAT cold hell just replicate some fleece pajamas

Who gets more sad: garak. mans has 99 problems and bitches are several of them, whether the bitch is ptsd, panic attacks, body image troubles, his dad, his mom, just plain old missing cardassia, i mean hes lived a life and most of it sucked balls, what can i say

Who is better at cheering the other up: julian the sunshine man, of course! hes his husband's doctor, he knows about his troubles and has many ways of helping! he reminds garak to take his meds, hes got healthy habits to help engrain in their routine, hes got a smile made of honey and sugar and love, hes warm and knows that garak just needs a hug, most of the time and maybe a shoulder to cry on when nobody is around

Whos the one who playfully slaps the other all the time after they make silly jokes: garaks silly jokes are usually subtle, vaguely threatening and very dark no matter who hes around (if youve seen nbc hannibal thats basically what i mean), and julian has to remind his feral murder husband to have some tact once in a while, and a slap on the arm or an elbow to the side usually does the trick

Who is more streetwise: julian is younger but also chronically cringe and swagless (affectionate), garak, who was in intelligence, is a gossiper, and has many sources of information, knows whats a la mode and what will be a trend given time, even if he wont partake in it (julian will but he cant wash the cringefail energy from his every action)

Who is more wise: garak has more life experience but is very very cynical, and thats not always the correct way to go. his advice really only applies to him and situations similar to the ones hes been in. julian's is more hopeful, but thats because of his nature and profession, he deals with life or death in front of him in the day to day and garak's cynicism would be a terrible course of action. so when it comes to wisdom, i really think it depends on what you're dealing with that requires either of their advice, but hypothetically, you should ask them both and maybe mix the answers

Who is the shyest: garak. julian is actually, genuinely personable and nice, garak is only cordial but its so clear he wants to die every time he speaks to another person (social anxiety, can relate)

Who boasts about the other more: good god they both think the other is just the hottest, sexiest, sweetest, best lay in history and they WILL tell you about it. i suppose since julian has like no professionalism with like the entire senior staff hell just bring garak up all the time and just blather for hours but when given any opportunity garak WILL talk about julian like a teenager about their first partner and his compliments are plentiful and they all sound like hes praising the moon and stars themselves

Who sits on whos lap: Julian "Trophy Husband" Bashir, and he LOVES it. he LOVES sitting on garak's lap at social functions, at home, in front of miles to make him uncomfortable (garak and bashir will just make direct eye contact with him and smirk). Julian knows hes a pretty twink and is happy to sit in his man's lap and display it.

For the ask game - Roxy?

roxy!!! i love roxy, shes a delight and she has fantastic chemistry with so many characters, this will be fun (edit: and also take me so long wow) NOTP: i can’t think of any roxy ships i actively dislike, but of the characters ive seen her paired with in fic, i guess im most uninterested in shipping her with amporas, zahhaks, and her imperious condescension.

OTP: i absolutely cannot pick a favorite, but the top contenders are hal, john, dave, and terezi. none of them are even close to being a real otp though, because roxy and romantic exclusivity do not fit together in my brain; i see her as someone for whose friendly feelings easily and frequently slide into romantic territory and who is totally okay with that. she has so much love to give and i want her to date all of her friends and have fun doing it

BROTP: dirk, jane, alpha gang brot4, fefetasprite, nepeta, terezi in a scenario where theyre both quadranted with john and partners in crime prank wars, and weirdly enough i just started thinking about roxy and eridan being bros and i genuinely have no idea where the idea came from but im intrigued

second choice ship: having established my complete inability to select a first choice ship, im sure it will surprise no one that ive also got a whole list of runners up. nepeta and jane are leading the pack, closely followed by sollux (pitch), meenah (pitch), calliope, and jade.

fluffy ship: dave, nepeta, calliope. each of these ships is a different flavor of super mega adorable and i love all of them.

angsty ship: dirk. pining for your bestie whos not into you sucks and theyre both fucked up about it and its so easy to imagine them trying to make it work and hurting each other even more

poly ship: act 6 gave us a bunch of lovely building blocks for johnroxrezi and i wish more people had built things with them!

weirdest ship: i bet a lot of people would be surprised that roxrezi is one of my top tier ships. theres very little foundation for it in canon; they both flirt with john, and i think roxy being so much like dave suggests comparable compatibility, and thats pretty much all there is to go on. but i love both daverezi and roserezi, so roxrezi is predictable on that basis, and also i read one (1) absolutely delightful daveroxrezi fic back in the day that would have sold me on roxrezi absent any other factors, and which i would link if it hadnt been tragically deleted like five years ago.
