help it's been over a year since I've been here- all I saw was wet cat mc and buff mc before I left. hopefully you guys don't mind if I bring up a different type of mc from tsm, blank and mute mc. mc who pretty much has little to zero reaction to anything done to them. oh edge grips onto their arm a little too tightly? doesn't matter, they just keep making eye-contact with him until he lets go and off they go to tend to themselves and go about their day. but the plot twist is that mc is mute but they're never given the chance to sign out anything so they just...give up on communication. why bother communicating if they refuse to even listen? imagine if it's because Taylor never even mentioned them being mute tho. sorry for the long ask tho-

Not a whole lot would change? They'd think it's a bit weird she's not reacting, but she's still listening so..... okay? They not really looking for a reaction out of her, they mainly just wanted her to stop doing the things they thought she was doing i.e. making a lot of messes, bringing strangers into the house (which they weren't actually caught all that often), and bothering Taylor. Otherwise they left her alone and she left them alone.

Mutt would tell them she's mute pretty early on, basically as soon as he learned she was, and they'd believe him. Despite her "reputation" there's no reason to fake being mute, so why wouldn't they believe it?

there's something about this post about the angels/anomalies/creators that peeves me a little bit. It's not outdated or bad, but the thing about 'the multiverse was its own thing then the anomalies came and imposed their will on it' that doesn't.. sound right?

like yea, overwriting the characters' wills is what they do, but the phrasing makes them sound like unwanted parasites or invaders when it's not really the case.

undertale was made for you. it's world cannot exist without you booting up the game, and it's world and people cannot change without you continuing to engage with it. and the game knows this.

you, in every sense of the word, are fate. and the game treats you as being part of itself.

I think that the multiverse did in fact exist before it was found by the anomalies, but the multiverse created it's aus for you. or at least, for someone to engage with those aus.

the multiverse has some sort of sentience, in a way. it wants it's creations to be engaged with like any artist would.

it then up to the person that finds those creations, you, to decide how you want to pick them apart.

I just. Love how delighted Toriel is that Kris has a friend, and doesn't really care who said friend is. In Chapter 1, the second Kris says that they're hanging out with a friend, Toriel's tune changes immediately and she says Kris can continue hanging out with said friend as long as they please. In Chapter 2, when she meets Susie, she doesn't get judgmental in any way, and all their interactions are just really cute. Baking together, punning together, letting her stay over...

Like, with how Toriel is characterized in Deltarune compared to Undertale, I feel like a lot of people make her...meaner, I guess. They take how she acts around Asgore, and use that to inform how she'd act in other situations. But she doesn't think Susie is a bad influence on Kris at all, she's really happy to welcome Susie into the house and meet her! It's adorable! So I don't think she's quite as strict and judgmental as some assume, or if she is, her desire for Kris to be happy overrides her 'knows what's best for you' tendencies. She's clearly not fully aware of Kris' situation, but is aware enough to be concerned, and to let some things (like waking them up, letting them wander Hometown after school, or devouring an entire pie) slide if it means they're safe and happy.

...On the flip side. It's also kinda sad. Kris isn't really hated by anyone in Hometown, but between being the only human, the situation their parents are in, Asriel(who they're closest with) moving away, the emptiness of their room and how they sometimes lock themself in the bathroom for lengths of time, the way Berdly, MK, and Snowdrake talk about them at various points...it's not so hard to understand why Toriel's so happy and relieved that there's someone outside herself and Asriel Kris has a positive relationship with. They used to be friends with Noelle, and they seem on pretty good terms with Catti, but I don't think they're quite friends right now. So it's also somewhat sad. Susie is probably Kris' first friend in a very long time. But maybe Noelle and Berdly can also become genuine friends, too.

i've noticed there's a slight problem on ao3 of people tagging undertale fanfics as deltarune when there's. literally no deltarune aspects. or only a couple here and there. i feel like that should probably be reserved for undertale fanfics that prominently feature deltarune characters/are a full-on crossover-

I'm not sure if they would actually even exist, because we have no idea how the story of TwinRunes unfolds, of course. It's a fun hypothetical, though. A few of my clarifications or headcanons on Chara and the others:

Chara's capelet has a golden ribbon shaped like a tail sewn onto it.

Chara is mimicking the little ahoges that Frisk and Kris have, but more like horns. They use a 'totally magical totally legit darkner magic' hair straightener to do so.

They also have two thin braids in their hair which they tie back into the centre, reminiscent of a time in childhood that Asriel braided their hair with golden flowers weaved into it.

I feel like Ralsei would be like a brother to Chara, but they would never admit they feel that because of how things were with Asriel.

Frisk is the only one who doesn't experiment with their hair, since they've always only wanted a long flowing mane of hair. Kris and Chara both try out different styles.

Chara can grow body and facial hair, but they shave it in order to appear neater and more innocent (they're a scoundrel, it helps them get away with things)

the idea of judging characters on a good-to-evil scale in undertale of all games is objectively stupid.

chara hurt. chara vengeful. chara impulsive and not thinking things through. chara maladjusted and suicidal and going too far. with their actions and with asriel's blind trust. chara with save powers like every other human who fell in the underground that eroded their sense of negative consequences for their actions. chara who then enforced those consequences all the more ruthlessly upon themself.

chara who gave up that power and stayed dead for a chance to save monsterkind. chara who could've rebelled to asriel and gone through with the plan, but didn't. chara whose hope for a better future for the monsters shone bright enough that asgore recognized it in frisk's eyes centuries later. chara who brought back that hope to an entire kingdom, and had that burden on their shoulders for the rest of their short life. asriel who, in the game's development, was supposed to be obsessed with the surface and the stars, and a chara who might have wanted their brother to see them for real.

but also, chara as the player's interface. chara as the quantification of our actions within the game, good and bad. chara the feeling of our stats going up. chara the ghost without a soul (just like flowey) who can't stop playing the game until you do. chara the mirror. chara and YOU.

not even our actions in the more violent routes are treated as mere "evil", cruelty or sadism within the game. they're explicitly treated as us going "too far". and because we can, we have to. not being able to quit. digging the ghost out of their tomb until it's too late.

...but sure. chara's "evil".

Okay ! Lots of stuff to say here ! There were some details I wasn't sure of about the lore of this mixed UT/ISAT universe, but recently I made myself a little memo of everything and I'm more sure of my stuff. So I made it clear in this one : Chara is here ! And they are here to help....maybe.

Siffrin thoughts and Chara's narration are kinda here at the same time...which must be super confusing to live honestly, but you can still see the difference. I will not develop here why Chara is with Siffrin instead of Frisk, but if you want a small explanation, their wishes mixed together

I personally think that there's a lot of ISAT stuff in this AU and not enough UT, so the next one (the one I really wanted to make for a while) will be more about UT, and it will be out...tomorrow ! Yep, I already started it before I decided to make that one first, so you'll have another answer really soon, whoo oh !

Okayyyy here are some random facts about TR!Kris:

They tried their hands at making a food-themed YouTube channel. They were banned from the kitchen for an entire year after they somehow managed to deepfry EVERYTHING.

As a kid, Kris used to sneak insects, lizards and frogs into their house. One night, one of the centipedes found its way into their parent's bedroom. Asgore refused to sleep in the bed for an entire week after that.

Kris likes to hide in narrow spaces. Tight places make them feel strangely comforted. Luckily due to their hypermobility, they typically don't get stuck. They can slink right out of them again (if they feel like it)

Much like canon Kris, their eyes naturally glow in the dark. They got built-in night vision. But they don't know if that's a normal human thing or not.

Because of that whole night-vision thing their eyes are extremely sensitive to light. Behind that shade, they're doing the same squinty-eye thing that Frisk does.

They have a faded scar that wanders over their right eyebrow. It makes it look like they intentionally shaved it (not that you can actually see it behind the shade)

When Kris was adopted by the Dreemurrs they didn't know how to speak or form basic words. They mostly just screamed and hissed like a rabid animal.

His/au backstory down below if you wanna read 🦟 just a warning it's not original or anything and there's obv a lot of hcs and things picked from the multiverse because why not I just made him for fun 🎉

it's missing some info but those parts are mostly from Frisk's side of things since they're what caused everything to happen 🐺

Frisk basically got trapped in the underground for 7 years since the barrier wouldn't open due to one of the souls dying out and one day they selfishly yet desperately decided to go through with a genocide route for the first time, they didn't want to but they felt as if there was no other way

Sans met Frisk in judgment hall to stop them obvi and he tried to talk them out of continuing but Sans sucks at saying the right things so Frisk continued on anyways- Frisk struck first and got him on the face and Sans in return charged up his very op everything attack which is a one shot kill (can explain in another post if anyone's interested 🌹 it's a bit long but in short Frisk hopped into the core and some things bugged out bad, including stats of some monsters) and Frisk struck him again in the last second.

They died at the same time and due to the fact Sans shouldn't be able to use a move like that he ended up glitching out of the timeline into a battle sequence like out-code where the fight couldn't progress or end because Frisk wasn't there to do any actions. While Frisk continued into the judgment hall, except Sans wasn't there and things started to glitch out when they tried to go past the area. so they were forced to give up and go back to how it was before the genocide route. Just without Sans there

Sans got stuck in there for a few months until Error accidentally opened up the area during a silly fight with Ink- which Ink swiftly ditched Error to go check it out

Sans grew paranoid after being in there for so long so he started fighting Ink the second he saw movement thinking it was Frisk, but he was even more confused when he saw someone that looked exactly like him just in different clothes so he panicked and teleported outta there. And since he had dust all over him at the time Ink obvi wanted to know what happened, so he went to go look for him.

Ink soon found him and reassured him that he didn't need to worry about anything since everyone in his AU was alive, but advised him not to go back since Frisk might try another genocide run and succeed.

Sans accepted that and took his advice, Ink then explained the whole multiverse business, AU's and such, since Sans was pretty confused. He then asked Sans for his name since they didn't do a proper introduction, which Sans decided to call himself "A-Sans" because pretty much everyone that's usually out of their au is a sans.

A-Sans took Ink's advice the wrong way and forced himself to stop worrying about anything involving his AU since everyone was alive unlike those in the multiverse that were more unfortunate. which was hard to do since he missed everyone, felt guilty for leaving them behind all miserable and such so he took up drinking to help him stop worrying about it all.

Now he just hangs around in busy areas to nap all day by himself, people avoid talking to him because of the dust on his face and assume he killed someone.

Personality wise A is very laid back and friendly, usually sleepy. He doesn't hold grudges and he forgives easily if it isn't too bad. He doesn't blame Frisk for what they did, he just wishes he was able to do something sooner to help them out before they got to that state.

The UTY OCs I mentioned before! They're brothers living somewhere in the Dunes after the loss of their parents years ago. Where they live is unknown, but Habanero is a known nuisance, especially in the Wild East. Some extra notes about them!

Habanero is the older brother, a little older than Clover. Padron is a year or so older than Frisk. They both use he/him pronouns and are both Fire Monsters (same species as Grillby, but unrelated). Habanero has been raising Padron for a majority of his life.

Habanero is a well known bandit in the Dunes, but he has a poor reputation. He constantly attempts to steal from the Wild East or jeopardize the Feisty Five's missions, but is always caught. The only skill he does have is that he always manages to escape later, only to repeat the cycle endlessly.

Padron is more often than not bedridden, due to being a very sickly child. His magic is rather weak, but he is extremely intelligent for his age. Because he can rarely leave home, not many people even know about him; Habanero doesn't like to share the fact that he's stealing to support his brother.

Habanero has a particular rivalry with Clover and cannot stand them, with the two often fighting when they encounter each other. He doesn't know they're a human.

Though Habanero can't stand the Wild East, he also dresses up as a cowboy and roleplays the part of a bandit . Nobody knows why he does this; Starlo did not hire him.
