Reylo Scenes: TROS Part 2

After a failed attempt at killing Rey and Rey slashing Ren's fighter. He's relieved he didn't kill her. She's relieved she didn't kill him. He emerges looking fucking glorious while Rey tried to stop a ship from flying off cause she thinks Chewie is on board. What the hell are they doing putting a mask on him at this point?!

In the novel from Kylo's perspective, "But his impulse to kill Key had almost ruined everything he had been planning..... but his deepest desire, the thing he wanted most (Rey) would require planning and patience."

"It didn't matter what or who was inside that transport that made desperate to prevent it's escape, he was not going to let her have it. He reached out, felt the massive machinery in his mind, yanked it towards himself."

What's interesting in this scene is Kylo Ren is pushing her and Rey ultimately pulls from anger to best him and keep chewing. That's what always been interesting about Rey is she's the Jedi, but often times she fights with anger, fear and aggression. In the novelization it's revealed that over the course of that year she's been hearing voices. It looks pretty and it's a good shot, but I kept thinking didn't we already see this? Force wise... they're pretty even. While it doesn't hit as hard as the tug-o-war in the TLJ it does serve a purpose. Rey is a Palpatine after all.

In the movie, as per usual, this next bit doesn't make any sense. Ren seems stunned and just let's Rey, Finn and Poe run off. In the novel it makes more sense.

"Kylo Ren watched the freighter rise into the sky, Rey inside it. She had beaten him again (she thought she killed her friend not really a win but you're emo) and yet, he was filled with triumph. He'd been right to push her. She had just demonstrated unbelievable, mind blowing power. Dark power. Sith Power. The scavenger was almost ready to turn. And when she did, they would both kill their light, embrace their darkness, then the star destroyer fleet and the Sith throne would be theirs."

Kylo Ren is a Reylo and is trying to make power couple goals happen and we have to appreciate that.

The chemistry between Rey and Kylo is electric whenever they share the same space, so much so that sometimes it feels like we, the audience, are intruding on a private moment between the two.

On board Ochi's ship Rey confesses she has sex dreams about Kylo Ren. Let's be honest they both do and she confesses she's had visions of her and Kylo Ren on top the Sith throne.

Next scene is them in Kijimi. Ren is looking for his future Queen who is trying to find the sithway finder or whatever. Arriving in his pretty cool ship.

In the novel per Zorii, "As the black clad man approached the squads officer snap to attention, "Supreme leader".... the man standing below with his gang od butchers was Kylo Ren himself.....The supreme leader said his voice was tight and calm, but Zorii got the feeling he was barely containing his rage. He looked around almost as if he were sniffing the air. "We have a perimeter around the city." The lieutenant began, but Kylo Ren cut him off, "We're too late, the scavenger is gone." Zorri goes onto describe Kylo Ren having a moment whipping his lightsaber out and going beast mode.

In the movie through the force it's implied that that's how Rey knows Chewie is onboard Ren's destroyer, but in the novel it's different. He interrogated Chewie forcefully (wink wink ha ha ha) to get information on Rey. Rey was able to link mind with Kylo Ren and that's how she knew Chewie was onboard. They should've shown them linking minds more.

Then Rey was in his room, or excuse me, private quarters. Anyone else surprised his room was so white and pretty, if no impersonal. Where's his bed? I saw it in the first movie I think.

"Rey. Wherever you are, you are hard to find."

I'm wondering if at this point that can connect to one another more voluntarily. Rey is always swinging first. Like always. This scene can only really be described as exposition scenes, but there is a nice aspect to it. It's nice to see what they see from one another's viewpoint when they force bond. They just see each other. The dyad is increasing in power, not only can they now touch through the force, they can fight and their spaces even blend. They were together and yet separate. Kylo Ren also seems to be very excited his girl is in quarters and wants to lock down that ship.

In their next scene, again, Kylo tells her the plot of The Rise of Skywalker while wearing that damn mask. I have questions when did Kylo Ren find out they were a dyad?! Why were denied this scene? Obviously they instinctually know they are connected, they just never knew the word to put to it, but were is the exact scene? The thing about Kylo Ren is he uses information to twist it like a knife. He's going to use the truth that they are Dyad, that she is a Palpatine and ultimately the attraction she feels for him to seduce her to the dark side. From Rey's perspective, "He extended his black gloved hand to her, she looked at it, remembered. The last time he extended a hand had been in the wreckage of Snoke's throne room. Their combined power had defeated him. It was true. That together they could do such incredible things. Suddenly, she sensed a weight at her back and along with it... Finn. His presence a bright beacon of light piercing the dark." Ren pulling some MJ Smooth Criminal moves there.

After Rey flees with her crew, in the novel it's gives Kylo Ren's reaction. Her surveys the damage left from The Falcon's engine wash. "Kylo considered it a small price to pay to encounter Rey again. To provoke her into a rage. To say the word Dyad and watch the truth of it wash over her lovely face......he hardly paid attention, he kept seeing her face. The way her lips had parted with surprise. The way her body had canted (leaned) toward him. If the Millennial falcon hadn't appeared she might have come to him. Taken his hand. Kylo really hated that ship.... he'd been so very close, but now she knew the truth. She would accept it."

Yeah, they're horny. It's the first time Kylo described her in such detail and really let us as the reader or audience know..... he wants power, but he wants Rey more. If Ren had the world in his hand it wouldn't mean as much without Rey. This is the first scene in the movie where Rey acknowledges how much she wants to be with him. Interesting, Finn again is really her solid base on the good side of the force.

Side note: Dark Rey is hot.

The lightsaber fight onboard the death star wreckage. I've heard criticism that this fight while beautiful is pointless. I disagree. It's actually a scene that pushes them forward. Rey said, "give it to me" and Ren giving this shudder like he just came in his pants. hmmhmm! Ren likes feral, passionate Rey. He's pushing her and pushing her when she's already at the edge. Interesting enough, Ben can take whatever Rey has to give. All the anger and the fury she's had to hide from everyone else she can express to him. The fight is really about their likeness and yet difference, their passion, how Rey has grown in her lightsaber fighting and fixing the end of The Force Awakens. Ren is fighting at full force capacity, he's not injured and he's not emotional.

The way he is in love

“He sent the thought directly into her mind: I know you. No one does, she shot back. But I do.” WHY WASN'T THIS IN THE MOVIE?!

They fight until Rey is exhausted and when it looks like Kylo Ren might strike the killing blow, Leia reaches out through the force before she passes. In a fit of rage Rey stabs Kylo Ren, but snaps out of it when she feels Leia's passing. She begins to heal the wound she created.

How did she heal? Oh, you know those books she had in the beginning of the movie? Those book were the sacred Jedi text from Acht-to. She smuggled them onboard the falcon. So they never were actually set fire. Turns out Yoda that they actually were useful.

Rey showing him compassion, healing him, believing in him almost doggedly is so empowering for Ben Solo to return. His parents might be gone, but he still has someone to return home to. This movie has flawed writing but sometimes almost accidentally that land on something that works. The line where she admits she wanted to take his hand is a great line. It's declaration of love for Ben, not a rejection of Kylo Ren. It's her saying, "I didn't reject you. I wanted the best version of you"

After the unconditional love offered by both parents and the selfless, sacrificial love offered by Rey...... Kylo Ren becomes Ben Solo again. We just don't see him for the next 20 minutes as Rey processes her identity crisis and then goes off to fight to Palpatine..... without a plan.

There's also something purely adolescent about Reylo. Even in TLJ, these two throw themselves into one another. Like Rey having a vision of their future together so she goes alone to an enemy ship based purely on belief in him. Now we have Ben Solo, in a moment of pure adolescent "I gotta get to my girl" just needs to be with her on exegol as she faces down Palpatine.

From Adam Driver, "and the thing that we started with for "Who is Ben, then? There's no ambiguity about what it is that he has to do. There's no more seesaw that's happening. For the first time, someone who has never had the answer now finally knows his purpose or destiny. But I don't know that he entirely is sure of what's going to happen from there, nor do I think he cares. I think it's so long as he is with her, he's on the right path. " Adam driver is a Reylo.

Ben solo is back and he's glorious. He's likeable, charismatic, he's funny and he shoots backwards like his dad. People appreciated Adam Driver in an all new way with these scenes. He doesn't say a word except "oh, but you know he's shifted from Kylo Ren to Ben Solo. His physical acting is so strong. The subtlety showed his talented and not many actors can say that.

It such a beautiful moment when finally Ben Solo and Rey connect instead. In the novel and in the film especially so because she reaches for her connection to Ben right before she's going to kill Palpatine.

He acknowledged her and Rey’s lips parted in surprise. The connection was… right. Good. Like coming home. They wasted a precious moment reveling in this new sharing. This is how it should have been all along. A true dyad.

Rey lowered the lightsaber behind her back, as if readying for a massive blow. She reached for the Force. The effort made tears sting in her eyes. [...] She raised her hand ... which was now empty. She had projected her weapon away. [...] The moment Ben felt the grip of Luke’s lightsaber in his palm, he knew it belonged to him, an extension of his very own self. He raised it slowly, relishing the feel of it. ”

It's a beautiful moment where Rey and now Ben Solo have a redo of The Last Jedi. Rey looks at Ben with such love, joy and relief. Ben looks at Rey with such confidence, determination and love. It's the "Are you with me? "Yes, I'm with" Now with them both in blue light.

Finally Ben Solo and Rey are united. These soulmates separate by so much over the course of two movies are finally as they were suppose to be. Palpatine and Skywalker standing together. What it should have been is act of love, redemption and hope defeating evil. It should have been Ben Solo confronting his demons with the woman he loves and fought to be with. It should have been is Rey belonging; a redeemed Ben was supposed to become her new home and/ fulfill her need for a family. It should have been a power couple fighting evil with the Force.

But no. Somehow the two of them coming together empowered the devil. Their power like a source of life itself. Then Ben Solo is chucked off a cliff after draining their energy. Why? Ben Solo should have faced his grandfather's and father's enemy, or his clone. Palpatine confirms all the voices he's been hearing in his head has been Palpatine. He literally made irrelevant to something he is very relevant to.

They fail together, but she succeeds alone after the spirits of the Jedi aiding her?! I hate all this. Then she dies after her energy being drained, or she clutches the lightsaber too hard, I'm not sure it's not described. It's annoying. Ben drags himself up broken ribs and all to get to Rey. He crawls to her when he realizes she's passed. It's a horrible moment where you feel how alone Ben feels.

"He could see her now, collapsed on the floor, and the pain in his chest was suddenly so much worse than that of a couple broken ribs."

Ben initially mourns her until he realizes there might be a chance to save. He heals her like she healed him. Oh also none of the films go into the fact that because of their bond they were able to learn the force, including fighting moves, from one another. "Ben poured everything into her. He found reservoirs he didn’t even know he had. He gave her his whole self"

Then Rey finally takes his hand! She's back! Ben is so relieve that she's there. In the novel, "She was glad to see him. Glad to be with him in this moment. It was the greatest gift she could have given him. His heart was full as Rey reached for his face, let her fingers linger against his cheek. And then, wonder of wonders, she leaned forward and kissed him."

Reylos! We finally get our kiss, they smile at one another, look they're so happy! Probably the happiest they've ever been. A celebration!

Anddddddd he's gone. Seriously. Rey mourns him in the novel like we never see her do in the film. "The girl who had felt alone for all those years on Jakku had been part of a dyad the whole time. And just when she'd discovered that precious connection, that incredible oneness, it was ripped away. A voice came to her through the Force, clear and strong. I will always be with you, Ben said."

It's tragic because there's so much to Ben Solo we just don't see as an audience after 3 films!!!!!! He doesn't have any lines.

This movie was edited until literally the week before the films release. The recall of the artbook, the last-minute editing, Adam Driver recording new dialogue in his closet..... I'm wondering if the original idea for TROS Reylo was, well, this. We know from the editor, they didn't know for sure if they wanted them to kiss until post-production. Much of the movie wasn't decided until post-production.

And then we get to the ending. Rey Skywalker. How are you not Rey Solo after the man you felt kinship with and the man you were in love with?! Like da fuq?!

Moving forward to this Rey 2025 movie. I'd like it to do well. I hope it does well. It probably won't unless Ben Solo returns. Reylo might be controversial (whatever) but it's currently one of the biggest draws this franchise has. Kylo Ren/Ben Solo is the most popular character out of the sequel trilogy. We deserve it and I'd pay to see it.

Everything becomes a blur. Caitlyn grieves as Vi comforts. Caitlyn swears vengeance while Vi watches in horror. They kiss, then they separate.

9. I Don't Love You by My Chemical Romance: Vi's emo arc, and Cait's rise to power. Martial Law is never good, people!

10. The Reason by Hoobastank: Caitlyn slowly reflects her own decisions, and regrets them. Her rebound doesn't work because the reason of her peace is, and always will be, Vi. Despite their imperfections and imperfect lives, they are still meant to be.

11. Iris by Goo Goo Dolls: They reunite. They argue. They make up. Each word they speak is secretly a plead and confession of love.

12. Nothing Matters by The Last Dinner Party:

"Vi, when you were gone, I saw someone..."

13. Everywhere by Michelle Branch: They are now a secure, established couple. They see each other in everything they do. They do everything together, including going to war...

15. Please Be Rude by Gigi Perez: They get through their grief of losing friends and family together post-war. They help each other through their trauma. They have their ups and downs, but they manage to keep the peace and love each other through and through. Being lovers takes time and effort.

Life is imperfect, but it's better when they're together. It finally feels... Perfect. The peaceful kind.

16. Capital Letters by Hailee Steinfield and BloodPop®: They're finally happy together! They give each ither cute pet names and act all cutesy around each other. They've found pure bliss together! Also, it's Hailee Steinfeld!

OKAY. OKAY. WINTERS FAMILY TORMENT NEXUS. as i've said before this is all REALLY vague rough outlines bc i wanted to bounce it all back n forth with u. but. what i have:

>mark is at work when she arrives. something horrific happens at home. maybe his wife is injured or hurt, but not killed. ashe (7/8/9) triggers. whatever his powers are, they. do Not help heal his mom. in fact the opposite.

>mark tears back home asap instead of leaving as soon as he hears her song, actively choosing to stay in her effect zone for his family. finds newly triggered baby ashe & the rest of that scene.

>theyve spent too long in the affected zone to be allowed to go free, especially since ashe triggered from it. mark nukes his whole past life & ashe's to escape without undergoing all the protocols. he spends ages doing shit work to support him & ashe bc theyre both legally dead, ends up working for overlord, manages to get enough of a fake past to get through cauldron background checks & get powers? it'll pay so much better than the grunt work he's doing now & he has to support ashe (powered)(legally dead)(would probably be executed if anyone Found Out)....

anyway to me the trickster is like. the endgame of this specific simurgh rube goldberg. somehow it doesn't end horrifically, for once! but it gets. bad. the fact that they're simurgh survivors is always looming over their heads. its why mark fucking freaks out when ashe joins the wards. literally have nothing more specific than this though u gotta help me put meat on these bones!!!!! STOP "being responsible" and "doing work" and stuff START thinking incessantly abt nhw ashe!!!!! i don't even know his powers bc i have no clue how he triggered!!!! augh. god. them..... mods torture that blonde man in the most narratively satisfying and fucked up way possible!!!!

I looooooove the satisfaction in thinking about that snap decision where he goes from "relatively normal if a little emotionally repressed but otherwise does his best suburban dad" to "my wife is dead and my son is fucked up and there's this fucking sound in my head that won't go away I'm about to erase everything and break several laws in order to get us out of here" and how that eventually leads into. supervillain. it's just soooooooo. sickos haha yessss the downfall of this fucking miserable blonde guy. when do you think he consciously made that choice. he heard "you're never going to get out of here and live a normal life again" do you think he just . sat with that for a while. ashe unresponsive either due to shock or fear or the trauma of triggering/whatever his powers are and mark just has to sit there. by himself. like what the fuck am I gonna do now. auaghghghghhhh I need 2 make him so miserable forever. fuck that guy i hate his ass (<< me when I lie)

I THINK . I NEED TO SIT FOR A WHILE AND FINISH THESE NEXT COUPLE CHAPTERS AND PROCESS A LITTLE MORE BEFORE I MAKE A SOLID DECISION ON ASHES POWERS. but you knowwwww it's gonna be some fucked up horror shit. it has to be. it has to be something fucked up enough that mark forbids him from using his powers and keeps him . at home isolated for his own good. but not TOO fucked that he wouldn't be able to join the wards.

actually speaking of. HOW THE FUCK DOES HE JOIN THE WARDS. I know mark basically fucking erased their whole identity and everything but. there's noooo way the prt would let this kid join them. right?????? right????. how the hell would that even be a possibility with all the precautions in place for simurgh survivors. THEY EXPLODED THAT ONE CAPE GUYS HEAD BECAUSE HE STAYED IN PROXIMITY FOR A LITTLE BIT TOO LONG. maybe it's unofficial. maybe he never Officially joins them but he sneaks out while mark is gone and meets the boys somewhere and they become friends out of costume first. and then they learn about his powers and ashe is like "I can help!" and helps them like. as a rogue or something. but hes never registered as an official cape. is this anything. im thinking about him so much what the fuuuuuck have we done. what have we done !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've finally finished those tiny breakdowns of their current designs. Feel free to peek in. Images have descriptions 'cause of my poor writing. ^^

Warning: a lot of yapping

Joy Wonder and The Human aka C. You know a little bit about Joy by now. He's a skeleton whose family are the descendants of one of the skelebros. He's adventurous, clumsy, caring and protective. He's a typical not-like-other-kids quirky guy, which clearly shows. He's bright. (Yeah, very obvious on this monochrome image right there. You'll see colored versions one day, I promise.) And also childish. His thick glasses, dirty sneakers and fingerless gloves give off the impression of a nerdy explorer fixated on his goals.

C, on the other hand, is calm and thoughtful. His outfit is partially practical, partially fitting the small heroic spark he has. Every cool hero has a torn scarf and an old-fashioned coat! Can't forget about earrings too. Chill vibes overall. I admit, I was at first inspired by ManlyBadassHero 'cause he's the chillest hero I know. ✨

Don't ask about the Genocide route though-

I don't have much to say about them, but you'll follow them on the adventure and discover a lot yourself.

Haru Deepwaters and Trev Blackamore-Deepwaters aka ✨The Fishboys✨ (not official). These two are cousins. Alphys and Undyne were an absolute power couple long ago, hehe. Haru's side is more leaning towards their fishy fish side. They're pretty poor, but determined to survive. As you can see, Haru is a bit of a metalhead. He's a careless fighter and a ladies man. He works for the Royal Guard just because his muscles and a desire for justice are his strongest advantagess. But don't think he's stupid. He's just ignorant... sometimes on purpose. His outfit says one word: COOLNESS. And Haru likes when his clothes speak for themselves.

Trev got more of the lizard percentage in his mix. He's a part of a rich noble family close to the Queen herself. Because of that most of the time the position of The Royal Scientist is inherited, and Trev is currently in practice for it (though he basically does all the work at this point). He's the oldest of the group and the most responsible and intelligent as the result. Although his curiosity and lack of empathy may sometimes get the best of him. His clothes are layered as Trev is very sensitive to cold, and reflect his busy job. He's also quite rebellious inside, and if he had the opportunity and no status to keep, he'd look pretty scene/emo. He likes acting like a generic anime villain to scare Joy or look swell. Though he swears he doesn't watch any anime... Guess that's just how it goes when you grow up in this family. Haru is literally anime-inspired name, lol.

Also, he may or may not be on the aroace spectrum. Just the vibes.

The two don't meet much since childhood and often get into arguments due to Haru's air in the head and Trev's snobbish attitude, but they work well as a team. Sometimes.

Lorianne Dreemurr. She is a young queen who closed herself off soon after the coronation and began rebuilding this hostile environment for any human that Asgore once had. She tries to show herself as an independent leader, unlike any the monsterkind had before, that will put an end to their life in the Underground. But she might be misguided. Or is she just that tyrannical and violent? What I can say now is that she's very protective of her beliefs, to the point of sacrificing one to prove she's right and hold her power. She's short-tempered, arrogant and sensitive about failures. And strangely, she's incredibly similar to C when they're properly compared at some point. Woohoo, the main conflict of the story! Her thoughts are something to be explored in the story if I can properly explain them.

Her style is official and formal. That's all. That what she wants to be. The true politician with no feelings behind the mask of confidence. I also can assure you, her outfit may seem restrictive, but is pretty comfortable in combat. Hehe.

So apparently this is gonna be a thing now

My characters have taken control of the story again. I had a dream about the aftermath of the FSM's death, and I just... so it goes like this:

The year is 1955 AC. So the FSM attacks Garmadon during an argument, Ray and Maya show up, Ray burns the FSM (who's just a flesh puppet for a pair of malevolent dragon spirits) to death, and that was what I already had written down.

BUUUUT the dream I had added more context to WHY the fight started as well as what happened after.

So when Wu was younger, he had a very emo/goth/punk/dark style. Ear piercings, dyed hair, dark clothing with band t-shirts and ripped jeans, stuff like that. Well, one day he and FSM (or more accurately the dragons controlling his dead body) got into a fight and it resulted in Wu's piercings getting violently ripped out of his ears courtesy of the Elemental Power of Metal.

This is when Garmadon steps in. He sends Wu inside, and then he blows up at his "father". Long story short, when Garmadon walks away, the dragons don't take too kindly to that and send a wave of ice his way, impaling him and nearly killing him.

Cue Ray and Maya coming over to pick the brothers up, as they'd made plans to do something. Of course, they walk in and see what happened to Garmadon and Ray, the reckless man he is, attacks Ninjago's equivalent of God... and turns him to ash.

Ok, you still with me? Coz this is where the dream picks up again.

So Garmadon's in the hospital after all this, and it's been a couple days since everything went down. Wu is sitting in a chair next to his brother's hospital bed, and he is very much not happy. I mean, it had been a wild couple days. His ears are mutilated, Garmadon's comatose and missing a lung, and their father is dead... and the Monastery ended up catching fire during the fight (thanks Ray).

So Ray and Maya come to visit them and end up taking Wu home with them.

Now, Wu's asleep on their couch (after crying himself to sleep because he is NOT okay) and Maya kneels next to him and brushes his hair out of his face while Ray tosses a blanket over him.

And this is where the dream starts taking a slightly unexpected turn. So it fast forwards a tiny bit and shows different scenes of Wu and the Smiths... except for the oddest reason they're less "friend" moments and more "ship" moments.

It was really cute, too. The Smiths have Wu move in with them so he's not alone, and over time they become more than just friends.

Still baffles me, though. CM!Ray and Maya have been married since the 1920s and after about 30-some years they decided that "Hey, let's involve this traumatized emo demigod in our marriage!"

It works somehow. Kai and Nya (who are born in the 1990s) still refer to Wu as their "uncle" but that's because they aren't old enough to fully remember his relationship with their parents.

Fun fact: the siblings also don't know Garmadon and Wu as Garmadon and Wu at first. They know the two brothers as Donnie and Alex (the latter since Wu's middle name is Alexei and he goes by that when not on official business) and don't learn otherwise until after the Skulkin attack.

BONUS: I should also note that both Ray and Maya are taller than Wu

This week has been...ASTOUNDING!

Secret Crush on You was so unique i just kept laughing at the insane sexual chemistry combined with the "what if he doesn't like me"; daisy, touch and som were everything to me; i watched it cause of positive reviews tho, wasn't there while it was airing

i got to experience Big Dragon Season 1 though - went into it intending to enjoy it after 3eps were out but i got really attached to mangkorn, yai and their relationship; wasn't interested in the nsfw scenes, just yai's big brown eyes

What has been the BL that you felt a bit disappointed with this year?

bucky boi mentoring a teenager 🤔 I'm thinking thoughts but pls do tell yours ma'am

Omg I feel like Bucky was set up for a plotline like this.

Like, Bucky's this old-timer who only listens to music from the 40's and read the Hobbit when it came out. He's perpetually grumpy and grappling with how he wants to exist in a world where he has the power and skills of an ultimate assassin but doesn't want to be the villain he was forced to be for so many years. Becoming a mentor figure to a young person - maybe one dosed with the serum or some similar power acquisition - would give Bucky an opportunity to work through that and do something positive. And it would create funny hijinks.

I had an OC a while ago based on this idea. Her name was Basia (she went by Baz) and she was essentially HYDRA's response to the fact that Bucky would die one day and it'd be easier to groom a child into being the soldier than it would to try and abduct a full grown adult, especially in the internet age. Somewhere either during or after TFATWS they'd reconnect again to have to take down remnants of HYDRA. It was supposed to thematically center around forgiveness; Baz's of Bucky for his treatment of her as the soldier and both of theirs of themselves for what they were involved with. I put Baz around 17-20, so she's a slightly older teen/young adult.

A couple of random headcanons about Bucky and Baz:

Bucky's definitely the type to tell her that she can't wear something he considers inappropriate, which sparks a rant about feminism and creepy old men policing women's bodies.

Bucky patiently listens to the whole thing before calmly telling her that it's about some vital area of her body being completely exposed to any sort of attack and she needs thicker material.

"But nice speech, kid."

Bucky absolutely calls her "kid", "kiddo", "champ", etc. She pretends to hate it.

She absolutely calls him variations of the name James ("Jimmy", "Jaimie", "Jimbo" etc.). He 100% does hate it.

So many fights about who picks the music when they're in the car. I can either see Baz being really into like, BTS or Olivia Rodrigo or something equally as teen girl-esque, or being sort of an emo kid and subjecting Bucky to the entire Black Parade album. Like, I have such a clear mental image of a shot of Sebastian Stan in the front seat of a car groaning like he'd rather have an anvil dropped on his head than listen to the modern music this teenager screams the words to.

Because Baz was raised by HYDRA, Bucky's the one who taught her to fight. This infuriates her because he can accurately predict a lot of her moves. It also leads to ANGST when in training together again, Bucky realizes that she favors her left arm in fights because she's trying to shield herself from punches from his metal arm.

I thought a lot about violence as sort of Baz's first language, and how it would likely be the one she reverted to when she was experiencing intense emotions. This might involve hitting herself when she fucked something up, physically hitting Bucky when she's mad at him, wanting to spar or train when she's upset, and being very physically stand-offish about affection.

The first time she hugs him is a moment.

I also have a whole scene in my head where Baz attacks Bucky in a fit of rage, and instead of defending himself he just lets her beat him up. It only pisses her off, and she starts screaming at him to fight back.

This continues until she just sort of, sags into his chest, sobbing. And Bucky brings his arms up around her and holds her.

And it's silent, like it should be.

They're so unwilling to admit that they care about each other but would fuck someone up for talking shit without a moment's hesitation.

Family dinners where Baz is on her phone and Bucky is annoyed.

Sarah Wilson listening to Bucky complain about something Baz is doing and nodding and smiling until he's done.

"Welcome to fatherhood, Bucky."

Bucky's eyes going wide because oh shit he's the kid's fuckin dad, isn't he.

The Batman

Hat 1- Story: Batman is beaten down and tired, more bound to a need to make a difference than to legacy. Bruce Wane has all but disappeared from the public eye, and the infamous Wane philanthropy has stopped. When a new villain, The Riddler, starts killing and leaving clues to his next targets, Batman is forced to explore his own history, his past, and decide his future, meeting a new companion along the way. This is the most character exploration we've ever seen with one of these films. It's less an action film and more a study of a tired hero, and it's a welcome change. Yes, there's action, but it's earned. We spend a long time exploring Bruce Wane/Batman's inner self, so when the action does show up it's just in time, and a welcome change.

This Gotham isn't the polished, high strung tension that Nolan gave us, nor is it the classic comic book world of the 80s/90s films or the recent films. This is a realistic comic world, merging the two styles together to be something we've never seen. Batman is an unwelcome vigilante who, if it weren't for Commissioner Gordon trusting him, would likely be in prison for obstructing justice. There's a mix of comic book logic and real world consequences that really works.

This film's long runtime gives plenty of space for everything you could want. It doesn't feel like a 3 hour film, it feels like a well fleshed out journey of good and evil. 1/1 hat

Hat 2- Performances: Robert Patterson's Batman is great for what they're trying to do. This is a very brooding, emo ish type character. With dark hair and a pale face, he stares into the corners of his shadowy Wane Manor and grapples with the powers of good and evil, and it's awesome. When he has to do action, he's great as well. Both sides are very well done for the vibe this film is going for. Zoe Kravitz's Cat Woman is a fierce and modern interpretation of the character, and a perfect counterpoint to the brooding Wayne. Together they're fantastic, and apart they hold their own.

Paul Dano as the Riddler is awesome. There are some who will say he is trying to do the Heath Ledger larger than life performance, but he very much makes it his own, and it's awesome. Thats all I can say without spoiling anything unfortunately. There's a couple of weird castings here: unlike the previous films that have focused on a cast of characters, giving Alfred and Commissioner Gordon plenty of story, for example, aren't really given much screen time here, focusing on Batman and Catwoman and delving into their characters. Because of this, the casting of Alfred and Commissioner Gordon (Andy Serkis and Jeffrey Wright respectively) isn't fantastic and they do sort of stuck out. But they're not given enough screen time to ruin the whole thing, the main performances are more than enough to carry this film. .75/1 hat

Hat 3- Craft: This film is absolutely brimming with atmosphere. There's a joke online that DC films are so dark and shadowy that on most film sets its "lights, camera, action!" but on DC films it's "camera, action!" but this film uses it's shadow to the best degree. There are some great silhouetted shots and some really cool uses of gun flair light play that make this film look significantly different than anything we've seen in the DCEU.

There are some very dramatic gothic type interiors (Gotham, it makes sense I suppose) in particular in Wayne Manor, it looks like a cathedral and its gorgeous. The dramatic cinematography previously mentioned all fits together to make this one of the most visually stunning films DC has ever done.

Michael Giacchino is an amazing composer, but this score might be some of his best. Full of drama and power, it underscores this brooding world perfectly and pushes it to that next level. Great great stuff.

Hat 4- Entertainment Value: I say that the film doesn't feel like a 3 hour experience and it's true. You're engaged from the opening scene onward, it earns your attention and keeps it, giving you nuggets of character and action one at a time so you're completely engaged throughout. Whether you're here for style, for action, for character, or all 3 there's something here for everyone, unless you wanted comedy, but I doubt that. 1/1 hat

Hat 5- Memorability: It's SO nice not to get the origin story, the popcorn and pearls dead parent sequence. We explore that history, but don't need to see it, and we also don't need to have everything explained. Nolan's films (the most recent to focus on Batman alone) grounded this world in reality, explaining how all his gear worked and where it came from, this one doesn't bother with that. And it's kinda nice just to have some things exist because... they exist. This is a very good addition to the DCEU and I hope it does well enough to warrant a sequel. 1/1 hat
