In Last Life, Pearl died in the finale and it gave Scott the strength to keep going, to avenge his friends, to make all those gifted lives count. He fought and fought until he came out on top because it's what Pearl and Cleo would have wanted. He raised his sword with pride and got struck down for winning the game by not playing, honorable and clever

In Wild Life, Scott dies in the finale and Pearl feels alone. It's a new kind of alone, without guidance and without purpose, that stops her in her tracks while the world keeps going around her. She doesn't want to get up and fight, there's nothing left to fight for. She gave it her all and it wasn't enough. She feels so pathetic.

Another reason that Stansas hate the idea of Arya and Dany being friends (outside of them wanting to demonize Dany) is that they've convinced themselves that Dany and Sansa are the only main female characters, so if a Stark sister is going to have a significant relationship with Dany it has to be Sansa. Arya being constantly downplayed and treated like an accessory to Sansa has generally led to the consensus that her relationship with Dany will be defined by whatever Sansa's relationship (positive or negative) with her is. That's why Arya is always being left out of the "we were robbed of [x] female character friendship" conversations and why theories about Dany/Arya getting along are treated as Sansa hate; Arya, as a character, is seen as secondary to Sansa by a lot of people

it's also worth mentioning how both beast boy and raven have ultimately let themselves go during the titans' separation, ultimately surrendering to the labels and surface level opinions they had of each other which is being a joke and insane. LIKE BRO, their isolations are also self-inflicted, for beast boy is that he wants to keep THEM out and raven is to keep herself out in fear of unleashing whatever doom is there for her to unleash.

The human has a name linked to nature and mortality (Adam as earth and dust, Lily as a flower) while the angel is named as an angelic order (linked to fire).

The human lives longer because of the angel (Seraphina keeps Adam alive, Lily uses the Enochian magic she learnt at Ishim's side), therefore destroying their mortality and humanity.

The human is seeking vengeance "for their kids". They lose a literal piece of themselves for it (Adam his rib, Lily her eye).

I just noticed how Marcus' arc in Honeydew sort of parallels Carmy's in the first episode of season 3 with the build up as he works on one dish piece by piece as he visits gardens and sends pictures of his dishes back to a family member.

The parallel between Nekomaru and Nagito is extremely underappreciated by the fandom. Well, Nekomaru is also extremely underappreciated by the fandom, but still, think about it.

Both are guys who were diagnosed with fatal diseases that would've normally dragged both into the deepest pits of despair, but they both managed to use the chances they were given in very different, but also similar ways.

Nagito had the blessed power of luck to keep him living, and transformed this into a sort of hero worship of the concept, along with later Ultimates, as he sought a sense of purpose from his continued life, as miserable and fruitless as it seemed for him.

Nekomaru met a guy named Daisuke in the hospital, and transformed his admiration for the boy into a respect to carry for others, as he too sought a sense of purpose from his life, despite him canonically have a year or less left, given he's set to die at 20.

One made himself the hero worshipper, the other made himself the hero, worshipped as a powerful force unstoppable in the face of any adversity.

And then, in the killing game? Nagito attempts a murder which ostracizes him, and Nekomaru ties him up to prevent him from hurting others, getting him more allies in the process. Nagito finds out something despairing in the 4th chapter (remnants), and plans to kill everyone but the traitor. Nekomaru meanwhile finds something despairing in the 4th chapter (everyone's given up living), and plans to get himself killed, along with the "traitor" (Gundham, who betrayed everyone's trust).

God, I love the parallel so much, it's insane.

Every once in a while I think about the ship I've been obsessed over for close to two years now and feel like I'm ascending to another plane of reality. Something I really like about Life Series Jimmy is the steady confidence he's built in himself. Like, Jimmy has always been an all talk, not a lot of bite kind of guy, but seeing it progress as the seasons go on is fun!

In 3rd Life he was very apprehensive about killing, and while he made bold moves to try and stomp his foot down like when he bruned the Dogwarts banner, this season is still definitely when he was most passive. Even in Last Life, I think one of the boldest moves he made was running off with that life, which was practically just an act of self-preservation.

Cut to Secret Life where Jimmy is actively doing things to harm people, and he's really having a godo time causing havoc. I'd argue he tried to be more violent and aggressive in Limited Life too, but it wasn't as much as he did this season. He was genuinely a very fun antagonistic force for the Heart Foundation to deal with, and he created tension in ways that didn't involve him putting himself at a disadvantage with his lack of combat skills.

I think a lot of this comes from the other characters not taking him seriously, and that's still very evident now. Despite the sure and certain nature in which Jimmy tends to deliver his threats, he still tends to crumble when he knows he's outmatched or when he feels as though he's being seen as just a fool to people. He's always been like that but like...now he's just been indulging the power he gets from being red, and it's interesting to see.

I guess that plays a big part in why I don't really like how he's been or used to be characterized as an innocent guy who could do no wrong. I'm very far from the first person to say that, and I'm honestly not adding much to the conversation, but like, he can play SUCH a cool antagonistic force, but people just reduce him to the angst that comes with his curse, or whatever.

Don't get me wrong, I think Jimmy can be very kind! It's especially evident when he's with his allies; he always does what he can to defend them, even if he can't properly follow through with his vows of protection. He gets excited over little things, and is generally just a sunshiny kind of dude; I can see the golden retriever resemblance! But, to treat his character as if he's free of flaws or just the most innocent, sad boy in the world is just. It irks me a bit, though I don't see it much anymore, so that's good!

Anyways. That's my ramble for today!!! Sorry again to anyone who expects art out of this blog I promise I will get to it. Life's just been kicking my ass.
