So I'm thinking of going on low dose T, and ofc I'll get more feedback from doctors when I see them, but I know one of the changes is that you run warmer and have lower heat tolerance, and I'm already kind of heat sensitive (sweating is a sensory ick). Do you or your followers have any kind of coping strategies that have helped with that?

I ran warm before, too, and I'm definitely warmer now! I also have Raynaud's which kind of makes the whole experience a clusterfuck, but that's besides the point. lmao.

I live in a pretty cool/temperate area, so it isn't normally an issue except in the (increasingly horrible) summers, but I've found that the hardest time to stay cool has been at night. I share a bed with my partner who runs even warmer, and it's been 2.5 years of struggling to figure out how to be a comfortable temperature together.

The best advice I can give you is to just stay as far away from synthetic fibers as you can; "sweat wicking" and "cooling" and "athletic" stuff included. It's a lie. They're all plastic, and while they might feel cool to the touch at first, plastic doesn't breathe. It'll trap heat and moisture against your skin after enough time, especially in the form of blankets. (Fuck the Rest Evercool. Worst recommendation I've ever gotten.)

Look for 100% linen, or 100% cotton. I've heard wool also works well, but I haven't had luck with that personally. Woven fabrics are going to be cooler and more breathable than sateen, and waffle weave is like, the single most breathable weave afaik (it's more common in blankets, but some clothes are waffle).

Some of these things can be pretty scratchy at first, and I recommend a couple of washes on a high heat & some fabric softener before you start using them. We were able to break in our waffle blanket super quickly this way! (I know some folks recommend against softener for breathability reasons, but it's the only thing that actually worked for us, and it hasn't impacted breathability). After you break them in, though, cotton and linen fabrics are SUPER soft!

I also recommend staying away from leather. It's natural, but trust me: it's not breathable. It's coveted in outdoor rec spaces BECAUSE it's somewhat waterproof.

Outside of that, I'd really encourage you to lean towards multiple light layers that you can change/remove throughout the day to suit your needs (ex: light tee + fleece + wind/rain layer, maybe throw in a flannel somewhere), instead of one or two heavy ones (ex: shirt + big puffy cold weather jacket). It's a strategy common in the PNW that works great for regulating your temperature when you're dealing with humidity and somewhat unpredictable weather, and imo, it also really translates if you're just generally sensitive to heat and sweat.

Outside of that... depending on where you live, I really recommend having an AC/dehumidifier. Don't bother with trying to rig up a swamp cooler if you're sensitive to sweat- the increased humidity will make things worse. The general advice I heard when researching a good AC was that window units will always be more efficient than portable units (and a mini split is better than either), but if you have to go with a portable unit, go with a dual-hose. They'll be more efficient just because they don't create a vacuum that pulls in warm air from outside. This is the model we settled on- it was really highly recommended and cost effective for what it is, and it's been absolutely fantastic this summer.

Idk how you are about pits, but I wash mine with a benzoyl body wash and then use a deodorant with antiperspirant every day, and I virtually never smell or sweat. 🤷‍♂️ ymmv though

Let's just say I'm over my 30s and at this age it's been suggested that I consider the label 'Grey Ace' as something that describes my sexual orientation. All my life I've identified as bisexual. I also have ADHD. However, sex has always been tricky for me. The wetness of it immediately gives me the ick and it takes forever to get me in the mood. I never initiate. But that's not to say I don't enjoy sex. I do, just the middle and the orgasm. I have no issues with pleasuring myself. Which I do quite frequently and I do experience sexual arousal and attraction.

I think I'd be sad if I never had sex again but I wouldn't miss it. It seems everything I feel can be placed in grey ace but also a lot about me easily contradicts being grey ace. Some guidance or feedback would be super appreciated.

I dunno who "suggested" you identify as greyace but just to be clear, the only reason to identify as greyace is if it helps you communicate who you are and/or understand yourself better. You don't have to identify as it just because someone said you fit the criteria.

Also you having an indifference to sex/touch isn't something your partner has to "suffer" through. Having an indifference to sex/touch isn't a bad thing.

If your partner has expressed they're "suffering" because of the way you experience sex, that's an issue with compatibility, not an issue with how you experience sex.

I can't tell you if you're grey ace. I know being grey-ace is about experiencing limited/infrequent sexual attraction but you didn't mention if you experience that! You just said you masturbate frequently, which isn't the same thing.

I'm not sure which parts of this you think contradict being grey-ace. Enjoying sex/masturbation? Having a libido? Experiencing sexual attraction?

Tough love kinda but in a way that actuall forces Valentino to confront his issues and deal with it. The other is basically if Harley Quinn got a Homestuck Trickster design. Very sweet. Very blunt. Chaos incarnate. Elaborately finds ways to put Valentino in situations that make him uncomfortable so he has to deal with them and then pavloving him with candy or sex when he's a good person. They're both helping in their own way because now Valentino has to think about his actions, emotionally regulate, and is rewarded for good behavior. The whole dynamic is cute and sexy but also kinda twisted.

Plot twist, Alastor's accidental QPR, Vox's chaos thicc witch, and the unhinged therapy duo are all besties from when they were alive and it means Vox and Alastor have to be civil to each other cuz their partners are friends and they don't wanna upset them.

Bonus points cuz they make friends with Angel and Angel gets to watch two candy themed clowns walk his boss's ass like a dog.

- Yes. He will not only argue about it, he refuses to eat any other type of pizza. He also will only rectangle cut pizza. Medium Leo is ' less picky' , but Kid Leo is still only eating certain foods right now. ( I say 'picky' with quotes because I write Kid Leo as autistic because he's based largely on me as a kid and I think as he gets older he masks better and is better at ignoring certain sensory icks as well as his palate had changed and he is able to eat more :) )

- I think he would more often call for Splinter or CJ since he likes them the most. He is still iffy about his brothers. He accepts that they're his brothers, but they're not HIS brothers, ya know?

- he is both concerned and absolutely in love with Kid Leo. He would love to babysit this kid, but Kid Leo doesn't particularly care for him just because he doesn't know who he is and he's p suspicious of new people.

- he loves loves LOVES unicorns and he is not ashamed at all. He would gladly replace his ' clone bros' with unicorns if he could.

- Leo would love the lair games, though they'd have to modify them because he's so small and they don't want him to get hurt. - so, Donnie created L33 in the hopes that Leo's spirit would eventually inhabit the robot. He originally just made an AI, but when that wasn't working properly he just hoped to see his brother again. They still aren't sure if the AI kicked in or if Leo's spirit inhabits the robot :/

- spoilers, BUT if Leo's spirit is in the robot he would be able to. In theory.

- yes! He doesn't have set hobbies or anything, but has spent the last 5-ish years roaming and exploring. He's very interested in 'human things'. Sort of like Wall-E :) he does have one hobby that is distinctly something he enjoys, but that's also a spoiler.

- it's more like his life ' started' 5 years prior to when the story takes place. He woke up with no memories of his name or anything and sort of just put stuff together with context clues. He knows his name is L33 because its written on him, and he knows the bandanas on his swords are important for some reason. He knows he's looking for something. Trying to access memories before waking up is impossible for him, because there's simply nothing to access.

- he's about as strong as the real Leo, but probably more flexible. His shell has plates so he's able to bend a little more, and Donnie made his joints similar to a ball-jointed doll's so he can extend his limbs a little further.

- nothing special! Donnie wanted to make him as close to the real Leo as possible. He does have special clawed feet/hands for better climbing and tearing into stuff ig, but Donnie added those specifically because of the difficult terrain. The printer was originally added only for maintenance/diagnostics reasons, but also just in case L33 needed to communicate without using his hands.

- just the one! Donnie didn't really make him for ear or for the advantages a robot might have, he just missed his twin :/ he had also planned on making a Raph-bot at one point, but after L33 went missing ( Donnie and the others assuming he had 'died' somehow) it was too painful to make/lose another brother for a second time. Not to mention at that point finding materials to do so would have been too difficult.

Basically the thought process for Donnie was ' I'm gonna make this robot to be my brother cause I miss him and this is my coping mechanism and idk maybe he'll be an asset too but that's not the point'.

Donnie's clutch came from a type of softshell native to Florida, so Donnie naturally runs colder than his brothers. Being that he needs more heat to be warm than the others he's the one who wears clothes the most! (Also cause comfy)

The reason he doesn't wear any when they're out and about is bc the clothes block up his movement in battle, plus the sweat from all the running around is a sensory ick.

I think all of them are sensitive to temperature, Mikey being the warmest for a variety of reasons, but baseline they all run colder than Splinter or April by a good few degrees.

After learning this though, Leo proceeded to never leave Donnie alone about being from Florida, narrating 'Florida Man' headlines of what he's doing just to piss him off.

When Mike was new to WarioWare Inc. he had a lot of trouble with connecting to the others and being friends with them, feeling a bit like an outsider due to his troubles with expressing emotion + him being a robot (which seems to be uncommon, unlike anthro animals)

But he connected to Orbulon because of their shared feelings of being outsiders + difficulty conveying emotion/connecting with their human coworkers. Feeling a sense of comfort & safety with each other to talk about their non-human issues! They supported each other and helped the other feel more safe in this strange new world + get through personal issues

some misc hcs:

• They like going to the library together- Mike mainly goes to get books for Penny, but enjoys reading with Orbulon while they're there

•Orbulon finds Mike's singing good/fascinating instead of bad- thinks it's a niche singing style of humans

•Mike teaches Orbulon how to dance & cook and in turn Orbulon teaches Mike about space + shows him cool planets!!

•Orbulon acts like a trashcan and/or taste tester for Mike's stranger/experimental dishes

•They're both autistic + touch aversive! Orbulon also struggles with loud noises and bright lights while Mike struggles with sensory icks like certain materials of clothes (opting to just wear nothing) and wet/squishy things. (Slime, wet food, grease, etc)

Look, today I'm teaching a 13 year old how to do dishes. Should he already know? Yeah sure. But he didn't, and I don't know, maybe no one actually taught you either. So:

Soak any stuck-on food in water. I do this in running water while washing things without many food particles, because I have irresolvable sensory issues with standing water, but a sink full of water definitely uses less water.

Scrub dishes with water and something mildly abrasive. I use a funky thing like a wad of stringy sandpaper, which I like because it works, is easily rinsable, and doesn't create plastic waste. But dishcloths, green scrubbies, and sponges all work. I don't really like sponges. I guess you can run them in the dishwasher to clean and sanitize but I think they're a great petri dish.

Rinse off all food particles and soap. Then examine the dish, see if there's anything still there, and scrub and rinse again as needed.

Dry. I just leave mine in the drainer and get it later, but if you don't have space for that, my favorite dish towel is the cheap flour sack type--absorbent and fast-drying.

NB: When you're done, rinse and wipe the sink and thoroughly rinse your cleaning implement.

Also, I always wear gloves. This reduces sensory ick drastically, and also prevents my hands from being destroyed by soap and hot water.

Barrier reefs, similar to fringing reefs, run parallel to shorelines; however, they are distinct in that they are separated from the land by a considerable expanse of water. This creates a lagoon, typically deep, between the reef and the shoreline.

While less common compared to fringing reefs or atolls, examples of barrier reefs can be found in both the tropical Atlantic and Pacific regions. Barrier reefs are characterized by their formation in open water, initially starting at the offshore edge and subsequently growing parallel to or towards the coast. Unlike fringing reefs, barrier reefs possess deeper channels or lagoons that separate them from the mainland. Their formation is not immediate adjacent to the shoreline, but rather occurs through the evolution of the surrounding substrate or changes in sea-level.

Patch reefs are clusters of coral formations that are physically separated by sandy rings, yet closely situated to one another. They are commonly found in shallow lagoons within larger collective reefs or atolls.

There’s also bleached reefs but they’re pretty new and it’s due to climate change and water rising. I think the ecosystem becomes different and the algae eats on the bacteria that’s on the coral and that’s why they loose color but I could be wrong!! There critically endangered which is sad because they're so cute. They're found in both salt and freshwater which is rare!! And only fish of the euryhaline species so your salmon, eels, flounder, and three more species can do?? I'm not sure about sharks but considering there are only 500 now I'd count that as special.

The speartooth shark is found in New Guinea and northern Australia in the bottom of rivers (almost like its in the name). Their habittat is shrinking because illegal gillnetting ( hook and line fishing), commercial and recreational fishing along with just pollution in general.

There are about 2000 left which is sad and I hate it here like just let the sharks live. People say that sharks are dangerous when it's dolphins who are they're literally horrible creatures. The only reason why sharks bite is because they're curious and can't reach out with their fins. Their nose and teeth are how they like...idk it's their sensory. texture: Does your OC favor any specific kinds of cloth or textures? Is there anything they can't wear or don't like? What sort of fabrics do they prefer?

Ilani Texture isn't a huge deal to Ilani, except when it comes to her montrals. She hates having any kind of fabric on her head; any missions that require her have her hood up, she's on edge the entire time. You know that feeling when you touch sherpa when you're not prepared for it? It's like that on her montrals until the fabric is removed.

Rowan Sensory issues royalty. Having grown up with the rough woolen Jedi robes, they're fine with the texture of those, but if Rowan hadn't grown up wearing it, it would be a nightmare for them. They really like natural fibers; synthetics don't feel right at all. Massive ick, like gagging and shaking out their hands if they touch something wrong.

bling: What jewelry does your OC wear? Does it have any meaning?

Ilani Homegirl is bedecked with jewelry. Instead of a more traditional headpiece like what Ahsoka wears, for instance, Ilani wears daintier, lighter head jewelry that faintly jingles as she moves. Her headtails have banded jewelry around them several inches from their tips, akin to armbands (which she also wears). All of her jewelry is gold, or at least gold-plated. If she has to go stealth or is traveling to seedier places, she does swap out her jewelry for something more understated, but generally, gold is her thing. She mostly just likes how it looks.

Rowan Rowan only has one piece of jewelry and it was given to them by Ilani. It's a gold bracelet, very finely hammered into something akin to a Mobius Strip. It signifies the infinity of the living Force. Ilani gifted to Rowan after Rowan completed the trials and became a Knight.

I'm going to drop some of my headcanons for Miraak for my fic, alot of it is alot of biblical symbolism because I love projecting my truama into him 💪 along with alot of my own struggles and strap down because it's going to be a long list.

He is autistic, akatosh had no fucking clue what he was doing when he created Miraak so as a consequence, he deals with alot of sensory overload and it's worse when he's first out of apocrypha. The loud noises, bright lights, intense smells are just incredibly overwhelming for him.

Despite spending centuries in a library, he still doesn't understand alot how other people work in social situations at first so as a result he's learned to be incredibly observational and pretty good at reading body language and tones as a way to cope.

He doesn't like being touched, he went through A lot of truama in the dragon cult and sometimes touching him can be downright painful for him to to the lack of contact he had with anyone. Also he just wasn't shown alot of affection so when it's shown to him, he views it as a threat.

On the other hand, he's also incredibly touch starved and wouldn't mind being shown physically affection when he warms up to people and starts to learn trust.

He has Alot of food icks, slimy and gelatinous textures and fishy flavors make him nauseous and at first when he's out of apocrypha, he struggles with keeping food down.

As a result of the food icks, he was incredibly underweight when he first got out of apocrypha and struggled with weak spells as a result but eventually starts gaining weight when he's out and about, My ldb making sure he's eating calorie dense food so he doesn't die from malnutrition.

As a result, I feel like bread and cheese would be a safe food for him

He info dumps alot, unapologetically. It doesn't matter if you have already heard about what he's infodumping about because he will not stop, you will forcefully learn this information whether you want to or not.

His immune system is the equivalent of wet paper, he gets sick very easily and very often. Gets a cold 3 times a week. What happens when you're from the first era thrown into a war-torn and plague ridden era.

Now into the more religious themes, his favorite animals are snakes. He found them fascinating and resonated with alot of the horrific stigma they have when they're just doing what they can to survive. Also his dragon is a serpentine dragon, need I say more.

Satan is sometimes represented as a snake, and Miraak first being akatoshs perfect tool only to turn against him for herma mora I feel the symbolism fits.

Also snakes symbolizing change and rebirth and the symbol ouroboros he would be represented with alot.

He even adopts a sep adder from a import merchant in raven rock and helps it recover from the early signs of a respiratory infection.

Also his face is mutilated is like this rotting leathery area alot with having alot of eyes from his time in apocrypha, even in his horns as a reference to some of the biblically accurate angel hierarchies.

Very closed off, Stern and intimidating at first for alot of people, still also holding alot of his arrogance and rashness that he developed as a way to cope with his truama. And because of his more eldritch features he accidentally tends to give people uncanny valley (ahem how in my experience I was treated when I was just autistic)

He's trans. He's trans because I said so. And he's pansexual, he doesn't really care about gender he just wants to be held.

He doesn't remember his birth name because miraak was the name he choose for himself, his birth name is literally his dead name.

His family being hell bent on marrying him off to a dragonpreist before he transitioned but instead he became a dragonpreist, he was still married in a emotionally abusive marriage but he later turned to hermaeus mora for knowledge to turn against the cult, and as a result ended up taking comfort in Herma mora.

Him and Herma had a brief relationship, they never put a name on it since emotionally compromising situations he's not very good with speaking about his emotions and herma struggles to understand himself and that frustrated him with being the god of knowledge but they were definitely dating.

He's incredibly charismatic, used it to his advantage to rile people against the dragon cult and sway them to his side and used that knowledge to learn the bend will shout.

He's a snow elf, half snow elf and half atmoran. He resents ysgromor for what he did, also I'm pretty sure Herma mora attempted to turn ysgromor into an elf canonically before he was stopped by Shor? Id like to believe miraak had something to do with that out of spite.

Also because of his draconic nature, I feel he doesn't feel right in his body like his skin feels uncomfortable and he feels trapped. And as a result I feel he has a really bad habit of picking at his skin until he's literally bleeding.

Also feeding into the idea how the dragonborn is doom driven, how he eventually fucking loses it because he is literally a dragon trapped in a mortals body

Tho I have a headcanon that the dragonborn can shift into dragons, like actual dragons not the usual wyverns that Skyrim has.

When he gets out of apocrypha he has an identity crisis, everything he was is now gone, erased from history and he was so bent on becoming a god after being a slave to the dragons and herma he has to completely relearn who he was, which is complicated considering he doesn't remember alot after he was forced into the cult.

Yeah, how he learned he was dragonborn was when the first dragon was brought down during the war between the snow elves and atmorans, instead of going to alduin it went to Miraak.

And he was later forced into a cult because they feared what he was capable of, and attempted to manipulate him for their own goals but he knew better. He went along with it, but tried to destroy the cult from the inside.

When's his canon mask even after apocrypha, he doesn't really have much of a choice with half his face mutilated. He would be harassed by priests and vigilants of staendar and the idea of religion makes him physically sick.

Speaking of, his voice is a result of being tainted by oblivion and so is his aura, the air literally changes around him and it sometimes unsettles animals because they know he's not normal.

So he wears a cologne to mask the daedric aura he has, using things like citrus and sandalwood, nag Champa and incense smoke so horses, dogs or house cats don't out him.

He doesn't like books. He tenses up and starts silently panicking when he hears the flip of a page of seeing anyone in his company open a book. He stays behind when they have to visit the arcanum in the collage.

Collects bones probably, he has several dragon skeletons in his temple on display. We stan a vulture culture king.

Very proper, dresses very elegantly definitely uses some makeup he likes luxury but again, as a result of the cult and years of Herma pampering him. Also historically, royalty including men used makeup.

He's very wary of alcohol, he doesn't want to know how he reacts to being drunk and also because my last dragonborn struggles horribly with alcoholism so he's seen and knows how destructive it can be without moderation.
