So I've played this game several times since I saw this post yesterday and it's so cute and fun! And strangely addictive, lol. The hand-drawn art of all the different little areas and characters is amazing, it's such a complex and colorful little world. There are so many things to look at and interact with! Not my fave aspect of the game, but certainly manageable. Another thing I wanted to mention is the dialogue from the NPCs. Some of them are helpful, others give you quests and spells, and still others will make random comments. Some of the latter made me laugh irl, they're so silly and funny. I played in English, btw, and the translation seemed really good! Very smooth. Overall, this is a really entertaining game and the simple concept makes it both accessible and very easy to get caught up in. I think I played for like 2 hours the first time I visited! I really like it, so I was sad to see that it will apparently be closed after the end of this month, because I could see myself coming back to Asaha Land often. That must have been my paper wish on the bamboo in the Mushroom Forest ... If anyone reads this, I definitely recommend checking this little game out :) Dokkoisho!

Drolta backstory!

Human Drolta! Her being dedicated enough to go to war for Sekhmet. I liked being able to see the circumstances that broke Drolta, that led her away from the path of a healer and corrupted her compassion and ceaseless dedication into bloodthirsty hate and misled obsession.

The first six minutes alone of “Angel of Death” S2E2, period.

The sequence where Drolta takes flight over the water and tests out her new body in front of Erzsebet. Erzsebet clapping for her, feeding off her elation because that’s her WIFE (EDIT: little does Erzsebet know she as a person is barely a passing fad to Drolta though).

Drolta saying “it is delightful” in response to feeling the sun for the first time without pain in centuries. The little smile on her face. That was cute, I love her.

I actually like Richter more this season. Not that I disliked him in season one though.

Him and Annette buzzing uncertainly around each other is cute too.

Whatever weird ass beef Drolta and Olrox have going on now (it was there in season one too, but now the tension feels heightened).

EDIT: And the fact that it’s Drolta who continues to question Olrox and poke holes in his stories instead of Erzsebet (who calls him “my dragon” and who acts like he’s more loyal than he is) really makes me think that Erzsebet would’ve ended up back confined if Drolta wasn’t such a good backbone for her. How much she predominantly only cares about killing and bringing about suffering for little reason other than she can and thinks she has a right to blinds her — and made her pretty un-intimidating to me as a result. She’s a big physical threat but it’s like she’s got nothing beyond that desire to hurt ruling her and it makes her sloppy and unimpressive whenever she tries to be intimidating (especially whenever Drolta’s not there).

Olrox stopping Mizrak from trying to fight Drolta essentially one on one was sweet (even if I don’t necessarily like Mizrak).

The continued stressing of the fact that Drolta is more of an abomination, even more unnatural than before, since being resurrected and going through the machine.

THEORY (I’m currently on “Angel of Death” S2Ep2 as I write this bit): I think Drolta knows more than she’s letting on about resurrecting Sekhmet and that she’s planning to bring her back to life in the only way she can, with Erzsebet’s body. I think possession and full bodily transformation is the endgame, and I don’t think Erzsebet’s figured that out yet. It’s highly possible that she loves Drolta more than Drolta even cares for her as a person; Drolta only cares for her body insofar as it’s capabilities to successfully contain a goddess’s soul. Though this may be my general distaste for Erzsebet (and need for Drolta to be better than giving the soul of an Egyptian goddess to the palest white woman she could find) poking its head out so idk.

I know Olrox is mad about that brand, and shit, I’m mad for him. That would’ve drove me insane. I wouldn’t want to cede that much of myself to Erzsebet either (especially since she’s not even actually Sekhmet yet). But just in general it sucks that he was branded both against his will by Drolta and for a cause that he doesn’t believe in or want to follow.

Alright Maria, embrace your darkness! And then mellow out a bit, that step is crucial here. She’s got the spirit though, and that wolf is beautiful.

You know what? As Drolta started to fight Alucard I immediately realized that I really do not want to see Drolta die again. I know she probably will, all things considered, but still.

I understand that Tera left because she personally sees that she’s a bad influence on Maria, and she wants to protect her daughter from that side of herself until she has her own darker impulses under control. But how tf was she so sure that abandoning her child wouldn’t’ve pushed Maria right over the edge? Honestly I’ve never liked when parents do shit like run away from their kids “for their own good” unless they’re literally turning into uncontrollable monsters; like, you know what’ll really go great with this trauma sandwich? A nice tall glass of trauma lemonade with a special shot of abandonment issues mixed in! 🙄

Not Olrox offering to take that man with him. Omg. I bet you Olrox will come back and risk his life for Mizrak, and maybe even be killed doing it. At least let him be the one to kill Drolta (I have to accept her inevitable death atp, and at least let it be at the hands of the man she branded so that he can go out with a win and so that they can have a good ass fight beforehand).

I think the nicest thing Mizrak ever said to Olrox without immediately following his words up by calling Olrox a disgusting soulless monster was after Olrox said he was leaving for good. Don’t switch up now bitch, I just hope by the time someone else comes around you're done with this ‘lashing out, existential crisis’ shit.

The spirits overwhelming Annette was a nice touch, but I can tell the spirit world stuff will make me uncomfortable so I’m going to stop watching as it is now night.

Richter being so attuned to Annette whenever she’s in distress (even when it’s silent) and rushing to make sure she’s okay every time. He’s not always correct when he makes an assumption about why she might be disturbed when he’s reassuring her, but that’s mostly just because he doesn’t have all the information.

Annette being attuned to Richter enough to pinpoint when he’s feeling insecure and then assuage his feelings. Annette constantly using reason to defuse any possible tension between Alucard and Richter, and being just as fully prepared to call Richter out when he screws up as she is to come to his defense.

Them coming to mutually understand and respect both of their circumstances and the trauma they experienced growing up.

“Mephisto” is unsettling imo, but Olrox’s interaction with him was interesting. Olrox just has such a calm demeanor even when he’s technically outmatched or upset, and it’s very engaging.

Drolta kicking Alucard into the river. Just her kicking with her hoofs in general, she does it a lot throughout the season and I love it every time. The move is just such a finisher that I can’t help but find it appealing. It’s a competence thing, I really can’t help myself.

All I’m saying is that she might be unhinged, and she might need to get her ass beat, but she’s still more powerful than Erzsebet despite having had far less time with any power that wasn’t mortal in some manner. I’m going to be honest, as much as I like these characters I know for a fact my interest in the show going forward will wane without Drolta, but the journeys of the other characters are still nice to see.

OKAY so I didn’t call exactly how Drolta would turn against Erzsebet, but that’s alright.

Well Mizrak is a vampire now. So long as Olrox is happy I guess. *big sigh* More angst to come though, so that’s (maybe) fun.

Yeah. It's great to talk to people in other countries, even if this is done through very flawed platforms, and I support the protest adoption of it as well, but RedNote, even apart from the obvious censorship issues re. lgtbq+ and political content, feels TOO cheery to me. Everyone seems nice, but in the shallow way that everyone seems nice at certain neighborhood parties, Thanksgiving dinners, and churches. People say sweet things and are really polite and helpful, but then later you find out they're not actually accepting each other as they are, with all their differences; they're just hiding the differences (and kicking people who are "too" different out of the community entirely) so they can ignore all the conflicts and pretend to be great friends. Then weeks or months later you find out the "nice boy next door" is a nazi and thinks gays are bringing out the apocalyse, your aunt spent the entire party thinking about how awful everyone's wardrobes were and judging people for eating more than her, another neighbor shows up to your house as an HRA rep to tell you to paint it boring colors only, a third neighbor is cheating on her husband with his brother, a fourth - who seemed so normal and nice and brought everyone cookies! - is abusing his kids and also is a serial killer, and nobody remembers each others' names. I mean, some of the people in environments like this probably are legitimately great, many even many of them, but in an environment where only sweetness is allowed expression and everyone is oh so carefully "not discussing sensitive topics", I feel like I can't trust anyone.

It creeps me the heck out, personally. Like I'm looking at the still surface of a deep lake, and I know there is something toothy waiting below. Sometimes the ability to get along with others by avoiding differences is essential. It's not a fundamentally bad thing. It can be good for diplomacy or business or for surviving when you're secretly an outsider. Or sometimes hanging out with random people and everyone agreeing that cats are cute is healing and refreshing. But with RedNote, you've got a lot of people patting themselves on the back for reaching out to people in other cultures and deciding China is great actually, and meanwhile the Uyghurs aren't there. They don't get to speak because they're in concentration camps. That's like if Tiktok's entire Native community got disappeared off the platform. Along with the rainbow brigade (I know some lgtbq+ posts have made it up, but RedNote seems to be taking them down as fast as they're able to with their unexpectedly very overloaded workforce). And maybe also all the disabled communities? But the dogs are so cute though!! So the longer I spend on it, and see mostly cheer and happiness and togetherness, the more creeped out I feel. That's just me, though. I don't think there's anything wrong with enjoying the platform and what is currently happening on it, or with reaching out to people in China via this means. People aren't being stupid or bad or whatever for doing enjoying and using RedNote. It's not even a thing that only happens in China; there are US social media communities that feel like this to me too. I just... I tried it and it's not for me. Or, there are other ways I would rather spend my social media time. Cultural exchange is great and I'm glad that Americans and Chinese people are interacting on RedNote. But you should be aware that:

RedNote is largely used by the upper-middle and upper classes of China. It's basically a copy of Instagram with extra emphasis on the lifestyle flexing. It's not a representation of wider Chinese society but rather a curated experience for the top 20% or so.

On top of that, it is heavily regulated and censored by the government. Which is why it might be closed off to Americans soon, since the Chinese government isn't happy about its citizens learning about America directly from Americans.

So please continue using RedNote for as long as it's available and learn as much about China from it as you can. But take it with a grain of salt and realize that what you're seeing is basically the Chinese equivalent of American Instagram models as curated by the government.

So we know that while generally a person's mutation kicks in at puberty, it can manifest since birth (Kurt) and we have brought up a few times a much younger mutant at the school. Which brings up the question:

What do the X-men do with a mutant baby? Like, logistically?

Where is their nursery gonna be? How are they gonna do night shifts? Whose in charge of keeping the diapers and baby food stocked? Do the teens ever interact with the mutant baby? Whose holding the mutant baby during training? Do they eventually start training the mutant baby? What age does one start training a baby to throw lighting or whatever? How do they explain the mutant baby to those who don't know this is a safe haven for mutants and think this is just a school? How do they baby-proof those stairs? (Serious on that one, those stairs are way too big for a baby gate.)

So basically, my request is the X-Men and their relationship with a mutant baby Reader left at the school and how they handle it.

(You can not tell me that Logan knows how to change a diaper. He may be 400+ years old, but he has never spent ANY significant amount of time with anyone who isn't toilet trained yet.)

They'd probably either

A. adopt a mutant baby

B. one of the adults had a baby

C. they stole the baby from a bad/racist/evil family

I'm gonna say it right now, Storm likely knows the most about babies, and has to teach everyone how to hold, feed, change, and wash a baby. Logan knows the least about them, as his life has not brought him into contact contact babies often. Hank knows about babies in a scientific way, not up close and with an actual subject. Xavier knows a little, but still has never had to watch a baby for longer than an hour or a night.

Storm is getting baby food and formula, meanwhile she gets Evan and Kitty to help Logan pick out baby clothes and diapers. Xavier can pay for whatever is needed for the nursery (a crib, changing table, shelves, extra diapers and clothes, toys, etc.). Hank is in charge of giving them medicine and their shots.

It's a mess the first few weeks, as everyone has to adjust to a baby amongst them. The adults take the night shift, and switch it up between them. Four adults, 24 hours in a day, they each get six hours with the baby. Storm gets the early morning hours from 6am-12pm, Hank gets the afternoon from 12pm to 6pm, Xavier has 6pm-12am in the evening, and Logan gets 12am-6am in the late night/early morning hours. The teens are allowed to help or babysit when it's needed, but if they're at school or out of toen or on a mission, the adults have to keep baby Reader.

Storm is probably the best getting them to sleep and eat. They love hearing her hum or sing them a lullaby, almost falling asleep on the spot. When they eat, she knows how to hold them properly and is gentle, cooing at them and stroking their head. She is one hundred percent a mama bear, and is helping Reader discover their mutation as safely as she can, by trying to keep their environment safe and happy and soothing. 10/10

Xavier is probably best getting them to take a bath and change them. You can't tell me he isn't calm during it all, and can deal with screaming or crying, but he can also soothe them. He looks at it from a logical point, and if he can, he will dress them in anything cute, or that resembles one of the others. He finds it adorable, and is okay with having Reader with him during meetings. 8/10

Beast is best with giving them needed medicine and reading to them. He can narrate, he knows what music to put on to calm them down, and he uses the baby needle. If he can, he will try to give them medicine they can drink, but if he can't, he numbs their arm first, then is careful to give them their shot as quick and painlessly as possible. He's perfect for cuddles, due to his soft fur and warmth. 9/10

Logan has no clue what he is doing. But d*mn it, he's gonna do his best! He's good with bathing and comfort. He's careful with temperatures, he's making sure to use the baby specific soap, and he's definitely drying them with the fluffiest towel he can find. If Reader is crying or struggling to sleep, he's purring, and he's also warm, so he's like a walking heating pad. You can't tell me he doesn't sit them in for training and make sure they don't feel left out. 9/10

Logan, Xavier, and Hank have to work together to baby proof the stairs, the kitchen, the yard, and every other place they can think of. It is hard to baby proof lots of things, but to set up mutant baby proof stuff? That's a whole new problem... (at least they didn't use duct tape. But surprise, the Danger Room now has a new setting for baby Reader).

The teens are happy to take baby Reader with them when the adults need a break, and they do things such as: introduce them to ice cream; try on new baby clothes; going to the park; and going on a shopping trip. The adults have mixed feelings about it. (Kurt and Kitty are not allowed to sneak off with baby Reader anymore after a shopping incident where baby Reader got lost).

All in all, they will try their best. Are they experts? No, but no one really is. They will be as loving and caring as they can, and heaven help the idiot who messed with their baby or tries to kidnap them... There will be no mercy if they try...

I think they're equally protective but in different ways- it would totally depend on the scenario. Alex would totally interject in situations if someone was getting on Casey's nerves, like just walk up and start making snide comments, while if Alex was in the versa situation Casey would glare at whoever was bothering her in a scary dog type thing ahaha. Alex definitely has scary dog privilege when she's walking around with Casey, but I think the power dynamics are super fluid between 'em, so neither is directly the more overprotective one. Alex is more possessive over Casey, though.

Alex cannot cook for the life of her so I think Casey's way of taking care of her would be the more domestic activities- Casey cooks, cleans, that sort of thing. Alex is much more of a base support for Casey's overambitious tendencies, though, she's always there to make sure her girl isn't overexerting herself. While Casey's making sure Alex is getting warm meals Alex is making sure she's sleeping enough and isn't prioritizing her work over her physical/mental help, and Alex knows just what to do to calm down Casey is she's agitated or overwhelmed.

On that note, actually, while both of them throw themselves entirely into their line of work, when Casey's overwhelmed by a case she feels the need to do even more (as seen in Softball to the Ribs, where she needs exercise as an outlet). She's kind of a being who is permanently in movement, while Alex gets still and quiet and kind of withdraws- like in 3x18 where she's just sitting looking vaguely broken while waiting for the rest of the squad to figure out what's happening. Alex is good at getting Casey to still, to stop overexerting herself so much, while Casey is good at reminding Alex to still have hope and not get buried in the politics and overcomplications of law, to stop her from getting overwhelmed by the depression and desire to just stop and encouraging her to keep moving, to not feel so lost. They balance eachother out really nicely in that way, that's one of the main reasons why I love them as a ship so much.

I think dates are often food-based because God knows they don't have that much time to make sure they're eating with a job (and detectives) like theirs, so restaurants and such is the usual thing. I really prefer the imagination of their informal dates, though, like Alex bringing Casey takeout and they just sit in one of their offices talking and eating and chuckling with eachother. I think Casey might at times get nervous about the typical relationship things like trying to dress up or trying to be fancy, so them just being soft behind closed doors is really cute to me.

Anniversaries or other such events I think they'd travel. Casey's not originally from NYC so they go to where her family is for holidays like Christmas, but for anniversary days they get on a plane somewhere- often without much planning, even though Alex really likes planning, because the spontaneous activity is good for her to not make it overtly formal. They pick a destination a few days before and the arrangements, and then they go wander around and do whatever comes to them in the moment.

I think Casey really likes Alex's eyes and her legs- she really, really likes Alex's legs, and Alex likes Casey's nose (I make it a point she kisses it at some point in most of my fics) and the points at which she had more muscle definition, like her shoulderblades and her abs. They have a lot of little details they like about each other too, like Casey loving the ridges of Alex's ribs and Alex loving the emphasized teardrop shape above Casey's lips (and how it looks like a heart). Alex also adores Casey's lip biting but she's always mildly concerned Casey's going to chew through her skin one day.

I think Alex is self-conscious about her rigidity and Casey helps soothe that (..I wrote 16k words about that already) and I think Casey is often conscious about not fulfilling the ideal Catholic lifestyle, which Alex reassures her over. I think a lot of their insecurities would be more expectations or mannerisms or habits rather than physical qualities because they're both insanely intelligent and attractive women and I'm sure unless there's something bigger causing them stress they're both aware of that.

JA: Yeah, and then also playing that off against that tension and the aftermath of some of those fights. It suddenly rebuilds this sexual and emotional tension. Like you said, you get to explore the breadth of a relationship. But yeah, they’re each other’s endgame, aren’t they? In the books, they always come home to each other. I think it’s telling that that seems to be the denouement or the end of a lot of the novels: Louis and Lestat being petty and in love.

(seriously, read "Stag Beetles and Broken Legs", it's damn good) In my conception, Monomon is the oldest of the Dreamers, but she's actively youthful, wearing such light clothing and acting quite active compared to her scowling counterparts (However, she also looks younger than her years on her face, so no one has any questions about it)

And young Quirrell, haha. So young and inspired, with burning eyes. Cute. Time has not bypassed him (though it's even better for some-). At least now he's age appropriate for Monomon

I can redraw my old concepts in more detail if you like my humanizations. I can also draw humaneizations of other characters if you ask (or more Lurien….. I like to draw his face…… gentle rose…….)
