People make jokes about callout culture a lot, because the fact is that it rarely ever has actual consequences for people in positions of power like celebrities and politicians, but callouts are weaponized against marginalized people so goddamn much and nobody ever cares. It's the most vulnerable people in our communuties who are affected by this shit and they're also the people targeted the most by bigots AND with the least protection and people willing to defend them.
Like no, callout culture will not affect the white millionaire actor with 30 projects lined up, but it WILL affect that trans blogger who could get fired from her job over tumblr drama or the teen Jew whose inbox and posts are now getting spammed with suicide bait and slurs and violent threats by both "leftists" and white supremacists.

genuine question, do you think callout posts are inherently evil? like if someone's doing some weird shit and hiding it i think people would want to be warned about that at least. just try to discourage harassment as much as possible
The existence of a callout posts means that the targeted person will be harassed if enough people see it. There is no amount of "don't harass anyone mentioned in this doc/video" disclaimers that will prevent that. The post is now potentially a permanent record that anyone can cite for years into the future. You are now at the whims of unknown strangers to be banned from communities, kicked out of creative projects, or be blocked by friends, at any time with no warning. I would consider this to be harassment, but to people who don't know about how these things usually go down they would be seen as righteous whistle blowers.
No matter what you actually did, if your awkward interaction with someone was too sexual, or if you stated a shitty opinion about a complex topic, or if you misjudged someone's boundaries, or if you engaged with kink in a way that made someone outside the scene uncomfortable, you are now a predator. I have seen firsthand the game of telephone starting from "this person did/said something sexualized on an online platform where teenagers could have been present," to "acted creepy around teenagers," to "regularly sexually assaulted children," to "pedophile".
Callout posts do not actually stop the person from "doing weird shit". It depends on what you mean by "weird shit", but if you mean "secretly draws/engages with Bad Porn", which is what a lot of callout posts are about, I implore you to recognize that it is truly not your business to know every private action someone takes just because you follow them on social media. This applies to awkward interactions people have in private too. Sometimes it's patterns of abuse, but a lot of the time it's interpersonal drama that is not anyone else's business.
If by "weird shit" you mean that someone has demonstrated ongoing patterns of real emotional/financial/sexual/etc abuse, and it's something that cannot be handled by any other means (either privately or with legal action if relevant), then in those cases a callout post can potentially do more good than harm if it reaches the people that need to know about it.
The level of long-term mental anguish that a target can go through is absolutely no fucking joke. A callout post has the potential to be a gun to someone's head, especially if they're socially/mentally/physically disadvantaged to begin with, which conveniently describes the most likely people to be targeted with high profile callout posts. [This is because: 1.) Our communities are wayy more likely to self-police than the rest of the internet and 2.) there are groups such as kiwifarms that love when a trans girl does something they can suicide bait her with and they also love it when we infight, isolate, and attack each other.]
I don't think callout posts are inherently evil, but they do nothing to make the target not continue their unwanted behavior. The only good function a callout post can serve is to warn potential future victims. If there are no victims, no behavior that will DIRECTLY lead to someone being victimized, no scam being uncovered, no patterns of abuse being shared, then the only victim is the target of the callout post. Everyone else involved is just gawking at gossip and/or contributing to suicidal levels of anxiety to a stranger.
#ask#callout#call out#ive pretty much only been using tumblr for talking about abusive internet behavior#i use mastodon for my normal posting#it feels like everyone on fedi is already aware of all of this.. peaceful#*wearing a button that says Ask Me About The False 4lung Child Kidnapping Accusations!*#miles junk

Enjoy <3

She hasn’t moved from the spot at the table, her fingers still running over the photos. Simon was stood by the door waiting for Price to arrive. Simon told him not to knock, he left the door open telling him to just walk in.
As soon as he does Simon locks the door behind him. Her head snaps up to look at Price then back down to the photos. Price sighs looking at the damage to the window.
“You stayed the night?” Price asks him quietly so she can’t hear.
“He came to her door.” Simon replies just as quiet, Price sighs.
“Not getting to lost in the mission are you?”
“No sir.” Simon replies, it’s a lie. Simon turns to look at Price. He knows Price can tell, Price can read him like a book. Truth is he’s in way too deep, there is something about you he can’t quite put his finger on. He want’s to be around you all the time like he can’t get enough of you. Johnny would say it’s something silly like ‘it’s love at first sight.’
It’s been years since Simon has had any kind of feelings he would relate to love. Maybe that’s what this was. There was something burning inside him a need to touch you, be near you. At least at work he could avoid you, push the thoughts away focus on the job. Being here in your flat, talking, opening up, watching you sleep. It was a good feeling, a feeling that made his heart skip. Maybe Johnny was right.
“What’s the problem?” Price asked crossing his arms looking back over at her.
“She wants to call the police.” Simon says.
“Okay then let her.” he replies.
“Then we have to back off.” Simon says through gritted teeth. Price sighs.
“Throwing bricks through windows this isn’t just a simple stalking problem anymore.” Simon says thinking back the colourful letter that came with the photos. Price hums, he’s thinking.
“Don’t think a simple talk will sort this one?” He asks eventually. Simon shakes his head. It’s been a while since they’ve had such an extreme stalker case. Most of the time a stern word and a few vague threats are enough to get most people to back off. If that doesn’t work a little bit of blackmail and a few knocks to the head usually do it. This time it’s different.
“Let her call the police, get the restraining order I’ll talk to Soap and Gaz.” Price says smiling at her as she looks at him. At least he’s trying to put her at ease. He looks round the flat one more time before going to leave.
“Actually, you should get Gaz here to check for bugs, wouldn’t be surprised if you found some.” Shit he hadn’t even thought about that. Simon pulls his phone out to text Gaz as Price leaves. He goes back over and sits at the table.
You watch as Simon types on his phone, he sits down looking up at you.
“What did Price want?” You ask.
“Checking to make sure you’re okay.” Simon says putting his phone away.
“Do you still want to call the police?” He asks, you nod reaching for your phone. Simon nods and moves to get up.
“Stay,” you say looking up at him. He must be able to see something in your eyes as he immediately sits back down.
“I’ll stay,” he says, nodding at you. You almost want to reach across and grab his hand, you swallow instead calling the non-emergency number.
It’s about another 20 minutes before two officers show up. Simon lets them in, they’re nice enough, one is a woman and that puts you at ease. You answer their questions while they collect evidence including the brick, the letter and the photos. By the time they’re done you feel drained, they talk to Simon too taking his details, witness statement.
They explain with the evidence they have they might be able to make an arrest. That makes you feel better knowing he’ll be locked up. Getting the restraining order might take some time. If he is arrested you’ll be granted an emergency one for the time being. You listen to what they’re saying and thank them when they leave. You turn back to Simon letting out a breath. The smashed window has let the cold in and you shiver.
“You should take a nap, you look exhausted.” He says, you shake your head. There is no way you would be able to sleep now. Or at least not a sleep that won’t be riddled with nightmares. There’s a soft knock at the door. Simon is already on his feet before your head even gets a chance to look. He opens it and you see Kyle, with a laptop under his arm.
“What happened?” He asks when he sees the state of the flat. You were not looking forward to cleaning all the glass up. You stand going to the bathroom where the cleaning supplies are while Simon explains the situation to Kyle. You wonder what he’s doing here. You don’t have to wonder for long as when you come out the bathroom with a dustpan and brush Simon is already waiting for you.
“Gaz is going to check the place for bugs, cameras, what not.” Simon says. You feel sick, you hadn’t ever thought about that, your hand grips the broom tighter.
“D-do you think he’ll find anything?” You ask your mouth suddenly dry. Please say no.
“I hope not,” He says his hand finding it’s way to squeeze your arm. He sounds sad about something, you look up at him. You can’t tell what he’s thinking, you like feeling his hand on you.
“I’ll start in the bathroom.” Kyle says, Simon drops his hand. You nod at him and force a smile going over to start sweeping the glass. Simon says he’ll call a someone to replace the window, apparently he knows a guy.
The cleaning is a good distraction and Simon comes over to help finding a box for you to put the glass in. You’re on the balcony when you see Kyle come out the bedroom into the living room. You sit down on one of the patio chairs as you tip the last collection of glass in the box. You look up at Simon.
“I could kill for a cigarette.” You say letting out a breath, Simon smiles and heads back inside. You watch as he goes over to his jacket pocket coming back out with a packet and a lighter. He smokes the same brand as you. He passes you one and you’re almost shaking trying to light it. You take a deep suck in letting the smoke warm your lungs you watch Simon light one too leaning up against the balcony wall.
“You don’t have to stick around.” You say eventually. Simon looks at you almost like he doesn’t understand what you’re saying.
“Do you want me to leave?” Simon asks.
“No,” you blurt out a little too quickly. You don’t want to be alone right now, not that you’ll ever admit that.
“I mean if you have work or something.” You take another puff of the cigarette.
“Right now this is my work.” He says looking back inside as Kyle’s walking around the room. You suddenly feel exposed being out on the balcony, the photo’s you saw earlier flashing back in your head. You rub the rest of your cigarette out on the wall and throw it in the box with glass. You want to get out of this flat even if it’s just for a few hours.
“I think I’m going to go into work.” You say as you head for the balcony door.
“I’ll come with you.” Simon says flicking the cigarette butt on the floor and stamping it out.
“Gaz stay here, there’s a guy coming to fix the window in about an hour.” You hear Simon say as you go into the bedroom closing the door. You sit down on the end of your bed putting your head in your hands. You don’t want to go to work, you want to just curl up in bed and do nothing. But you need to get out this flat, even if it is just for a few hours.
If nothing work will be a good distraction. You let yourself take a second to processes what’s happened. The brick through the window, the searching for hidden cameras. Spending the night with Simon in your flat. Your emotions are all over the place. You’re starting to feel overwhelmed. You stand up pushing the feelings away. You’ll deal with them later.
——————————
When you get to work Simon leads you straight up to John’s office. He drags you in without knocking and you stand there sheepishly not quite knowing what’s about to happen. You hear John sigh as he puts down whatever he was working on.
“We need a plan and I want her to be involved.” Simon says. You’re taken aback by how direct he is. You try to remember what he was telling you last night about how he met them but you were so exhausted, you fell asleep after a few anecdotes. John looks over at you then back to Simon. He stands up, you feel like you can see something in his eyes. Annoyance? But not at you at Simon.
“Come on.” He says as he walks past Simon out the office. Johnny is making his way up the stairs as you all pile out. John tells him to turn around and you’re being lead to the storeroom. You grip Simon’s shirt and he turns to look at you.
“It’s okay,” Simon says and before you know it you’re in the room. It doesn’t look as scary as you remember. There’s a smell you can’t quite place, a smell of metal and rubber. Everyone walks over to the table in the middle as John brings a laptop over from one of the counters.
“What’s the plan then?” John asks as he stands back folding his arms. Johnny catches your eye and smiles at you, that puts you at ease.
“Let’s lure him out, grab him before the police do.” Simon says.
“So the police are involved?” Johnny asks. Simon explains what happened this morning as well as the police saying they think they will have enough evidence to charge him.
“Why not let the police just handle it?” Johnny asks looking at John, who’s still standing over the laptop with his arms crossed.
“It’s not just a simple stalker anymore, he’s violent throwing around threats. If he get’s bail who knows what he could do.” Simon says. Johnny nods. The storeroom door opens and Kyle walks in. He looks surprised to see you in there but he comes over to the table anyway.
“Your guy was late.” He says dropping something on the table. You don’t quite know what it is it looks like a bunch of wires. Simon picks one up in his hand you can see it’s a tiny camera.
“Where?” You ask Kyle as he moves to put his laptop away.
“You don’t want to know, trust me.” He says.
“I do, I want to know please.” You ask almost begging, your mind going to the worst places they could have been. The bathroom, in the shower, looking at you on the toilet. In your bedroom, watching you sleep. The thought sent shivers up your spine. You look over at Simon he’s still inspecting the camera in his hand. It’s small, they all are.
“These two were in the bathroom, this one was in the bedroom.” Kyle says picking them up.
“That one was in the kitchen.” He says as he takes the camera from Simon’s hand.
“Do they record?” You ask swallowing the lump away. Kyle shakes his head.
“Live feed only, and you would have to be close to access them.” Kyle explains. That’s some comfort at least. Or is it? You’ve still been spied on your privacy violated. Knowing he only had to be a wall away from you to view them. You feel sick.
“Should we tell the police?” You ask to the room.
“Yeah, we’ll tell them, after we’ve had a chat with him.” Simon says, he sounds angry. John sighs, you feel like they want to talk about something but they can’t with you around. Johnny seems to pick up on that too. Walking round the table to meet you.
“C’mon lass let’s get something to eat you look like you could use it.” Johnny says, you mindlessly follow him out the room, watching Simon’s eyes dig into John like they’re mentally communicating something.
Johnny takes you back to the same sandwich shop. You’re not hungry but you get something anyway, because if you didn’t Johnny threatened to force feed you. He leads you back to work and you both sit on the sofa’s upstairs.
“You don’t do deliveries do you?” You ask Johnny, while you pick at the bread on your sandwich.
“Sometimes we do, we have to keep some kind of cover.” Johnny chuckles. “Cannie file our taxes as ‘blackmailed a stalker.’ Easier as ‘delivery to some office.’”
“Is that what you do blackmail stalkers to get them to stop?” You ask before he changes the subject.
“Sometimes, sometimes we have to be a bit more aggressive.” He says taking a bite out his sandwich.
“What kind of things do you do?” You ask. Now is the time to push him, he might give you some answers.
“Nothing you need to worry yourself with lass.” He says, you sigh. You’ve lost your chance.
“What about me?” You ask. “What would you do for my situation?” Johnny hums, he looks at you thinking for a second.
“I would let the police deal with this one, if he’s as bad as he seems. They have enough evidence to lock him up for this. Most of the time when people come to us they’ve already been down the police route. That or they’re involved in something illegal and need, discretion.” He explains.
That was more then you were expecting, maybe they were just being open with you now. They let you in the storeroom, they let you listen on how they plan things. Maybe they trust you. Or maybe they can blackmail you into silence.
“Seems like Simon’s taken a personal interest in your case though.” Johnny says. You frown at him.
“What do you mean?” You ask. Johnny is about to reply when the storeroom door slams closed. You watch as Simon makes his way up the steps to you both.
“I need to have a word with her, Price will catch you up with what you’ve missed.” Simon says gesturing for him to get out the chair. He doesn’t seem too impressed being forced to move huffing and wrapping his sandwich up. You feel nervous all of a sudden as Simon takes Johnny’s spot.
“How's the sandwich?” He asks, casual, like they weren’t just planning on grabbing your ex, whatever that means.
“I’m not really hungry.” You say offering it to him, you’ve never seen him eat now you think about it. Only sip cups of tea, like a lot of tea. He shakes his head, you wrap it up placing it on the coffee table and scooting over to him.
“We’ve got a plan. All you need to know about the plan is your role.” He says leaning forward.
“My role?” You ask, trying not to sound nervous. Simon nods.
“The best way to get a stalker out is to bait them out, like what you did with your post. If we want to get him we have to move tonight. Otherwise the police will have him and we don’t know what will happen after that. The easiest way to get him out is for you to set up a meeting with him. You’ll be the bait.” He explains.
You gulp, you would have to message him, then meet him somewhere. You don’t like the sound of that, the thought of even having to do that made you feel sick.
“You don’t have to do it, but then we’ll leave it in the police’s hands.” Simon says.
“What do you plan on doing to him?” You force out.
“Just a chat, like with most stalkers, they just need someone to spell it out for them.” Simon says. You don’t know if you believe him but you trust him.
“You won’t kill him.” You ask looking directly into Simon’s eyes. He shakes his head.
“We don’t kill people unless absolutely necessary. We’re not hitmen. If it makes you feel better the last person I killed was over a thousand miles away and I was still a soldier.” He says. You nod, that does make you feel better. You swallow your nerves looking at Simon, you trust him.
“I’ll do it.” You say reaching for your phone. Simon smiles.
——————————
You’re nervous. You trust them but you’re nervous. You’re on your second cigarette, if you have another one you might actually throw up. At least the smell will keep him away from you. You don’t know where Simon and Price are but you know Johnny is behind you round the corner of the building. He’s the closest to you, you think.
You check your phone you did say 8pm. It’s now 8:15, typical, he’s late and he’ll find some excuse where it’s some how your fault. You hear footsteps behind you. You swallow hard turning as the footsteps get closer. You can tell it’s him from the way he walks, the way he clears his throat. He’s stood a few feet in front of you. You purposely blow smoke in his face. You see a cheeky grin form on his lips, it makes you feel sick.
“Missed me?” He asks. You take in the last puff of your cigarette and move away from the railing to the middle of the path. Just like you were told to do. Keep him in the open, don’t let yourself be cornered.
“I don’t know if missed is the right word.” You say flicking the cigarette at his feet. He takes a step towards you.
“Well I missed you baby.” He says, the smile still on his lips. His arms are outstretched as he takes another step towards you, you’re frozen in place. Move! Your brain is screaming at you. Move do anything don’t just stand there! Your legs are betraying you though and before you know it his hand is on your arm. You freeze tensing your arm as he grips it, his eyes are burning into you when you feel a hand on the small of your back.
“Who the fuck are you?” Joe asks as he looks past you. His fingers digging into your arm.
“Just some guy.” It’s Johnny’s voice. It doesn’t make you relax you wish it was Simon. You want to look around for him but you don’t want give away that there are other people.
“Is this the kind of girl you are now, sleeping with random guys? Turned into a right little slut.” Your ex spits. You try to pull your arm from him, his nails dig into your skin. He let’s go taking a step back which surprises you.
You hope it’s over that he’ll just walk away now, you couldn’t remember what was supposed to happen next. You shudder, it still feels like his hand is on your arm. You watch as he looks around almost like he thinks someone is watching him. He reaches into his jacket and pulls out a gun.
“What the fuck Joe!” You say shocked, he’s not pointing it at you, just holding it against his stomach. You feel Johnny straighten up taking his hand off your back. It’s a show of force, there is no way he would actually use it. You look past him for a second your eyes being drawn to movement. Please be Simon, or John, or Kyle.
“Maybe you should move on, leave me and my girl to sort things out.” Joe says, there is a shake in his voice, you can hear it.
“‘Course, clearly you love her more then me.” Johnny says taking a step aside. You want to beg him not to leave. You see a shadow behind the bushes moving silently all in black.
“How long have you know each other anyway?” Johnny asks. He’s trying to be a distraction. The shadow moves closer you try not to look so your ex won’t get suspicious.
It happens quickly. A body pounces on your ex pinning him to the ground as he shouts. The weapon flies out his hands sliding across to your feet. Johnny picks it up unloading it. You look round as Kyle and Price make their way over.
“He had a gun?” Kyle asked his eyes looking at you. You shake your head. You had no idea. The sound of zip-ties drags you back to your ex being hauled to his feet by Price and Simon. Simon’s wearing a mask, not the normal black surgical masks or balaclava you’ve seen him in.
This is different. It’s a skull, your hairs stand up on the back of your neck as he won’t meet your eye line. Johnny is by your side again as Kyle takes the weapon out his hand. Joe is still shouting profanities, you can see he has a bloody nose now.
“We'll take it from here.” John says his hand landing on your shoulder making you jump. You can’t help looking at Simon, he looks scary now, it's not the Simon you know.
“Anything you want to say to him?” John asks. You look up at him not expecting him to ask you that. You don’t know what to say. You’ve dreamt of this moment, for what you would say but your mind is blank.
You look back at your ex, he looks mad, blood running down his face his hands tied behind his back. You have nothing to say to him. You shake your head. John’s hand leaves your shoulder.
“Pathetic,” you hear your ex mutter under his breath as he spits at your feet. You don’t even register your step forward, your knee thrusting into his groin. He buckles forward groaning in pain despite Simon trying to hold him up.
“I’m pathetic!?” You shout a wave of anger washing over you.
“I’m pathetic? I’m sorry, I’m not the one who can’t get over the relationship! I’m not the person who beat the woman they’re supposed to love! I’m not the one who hides cameras! You’re pathetic!” You push his chest with all the strength you have left, feeling your eyes well. You turn away before they spill over. You will not let him see you cry. You don’t even remember what you said, adrenaline is pulsing through your body. You feel an arm wrap round your shoulder, as you suck in deep breaths.
“Quite a set of lungs on you there lass.” Johnny says as you wipe your eyes. It didn’t feel good why didn’t it feel good.
“Take her home Soap, we’ll see you later.” John says and you hear them walking away. You hear Joe’s protesting. You don’t know what comes next, you don’t care, you just never want to see him again. You stand there for a few more seconds letting the adrenaline wear off as you breathe in the cold London air, but all you can smell is the river.
“Ready to go home?” Johnny says after a few seconds. You nod and let him guide you to a car. You don’t bother asking Johnny want happens next, maybe it’s best you don’t know.
——————————
It’s still dark out when you hear the door of your flat open and close. Johnny is gone, you see Simon now. You blink a few times trying to orient yourself reaching over for your phone to check the time. It’s almost 3am. You sit up, looking over at him, he’s standing by the door, like he wants to ask you something. You push the blanket off yourself and go up to him.
“Did you do it? Will I never see him again?” You ask as you approach Simon. It’s dark in the flat but you can still make out his features, the living room curtains are still open so the outside light is shining on his face.
“You’ll never see him again.” He says, almost like he’s relived too. A weight you didn’t even know you’d been carrying melts away at his words. You fling your arms round him squeezing him tight.
“Thank you,” you whisper into his chest. He smells good, salt and gunpowder. You learned what that smell was when you were in the storeroom last. You break away realising what you’re doing. His hands rest on your shoulders and you look up at him. His eyes are shining in the light, beautiful and golden brown.
One of his hands moves to your cheek, following your jawline round to your chin. You find yourself moving closer to him, his hands are warm on your body. He leans in slightly, his arm dropping from your shoulder to your waist. You know what he wants he wants to kiss you. You don’t know if you’re ready, you don’t care, right now you want to kiss him too.
You lean in pressing your lips against his. You have to stand up on your toes to reach him properly as you push your tongue in his mouth. He lets you, moving his hand from your chin to cup your cheek. You feel your body tingle as he starts playing with your tongue his hand gripping your waist as he tries to get you to stand back down. You don’t care throwing your arms round his neck and pulling him down to you.
You moan, he tastes of ash, and something sweet. You’re not thinking, lost in a world of your own as his hands start to move round your body. You grip his neck running your fingers through his hair. One of his hands finds your waistband and his thumb slips under your shirt, the skin to skin contact makes you shudder and you pull away. His hand drops from your waist.
“What’s wrong?” He asks. You look up at him. How do you even explain it?
“That was the best kiss I’ve had in years.” You say letting one of your hands drop from his neck to rub his cheek.
“Too soon?” He asks. You shake your head. This is it, you’re never going to be able to have a normal relationship again. You can kiss him but you flinch at the slightest mount of physical contact. He probably just wanted to run his hand up your back? It doesn't matter your brain registered it as a threat before you can even react.
“I’m sorry,” you say dropping your hands from his neck.
“Want me to leave?” He asks.
“No, stay.” You say, grabbing his shirt. Great, attachment issues too.
“Want me to sleep on the sofa again?” He asks. You look up at him. You press your lips against his again this time his hands stay over your clothes. He breaks away first.
“I know what it’s like.” He says his voice barely a whisper. “I get what you’re feeling, you don’t have to explain it. Just tell me when to stop.” He kisses you again, a quick kiss. It still takes your breath away.
You take him by the wrists and lead him to the bedroom. You can do this at least, or you’re going to try. He stands as you do what you need to do. Rearranging the bedding, getting extra pillows and the spare duvet out the wardrobe. When you’re done you turn to him.
“You shouldn’t sleep on the sofa it’s bad for your back.” You say leading him over to the bed.
“Believe me I’ve slept on worse.” He says smiling, that puts you at ease. You let go of his arm to climb into bed, pulling your duvet around you leaving the other half of the bed open for him.
“Mind if I.?” He gestures to his trousers, he wants to take them off. You nod, watching as he unbuckles his belt letting them slip to the floor. It’s too dark to see anything anyway, or at least you hope so, then he won’t be able to see you blushing.
He makes sure you’re okay before moving slowly into the bed. He pulls the spare duvet over him lying on his side so you’re face to face. He reaches over slowly, his hand brushing your cheek, then your hair. His touch is gentle, soft as he tests what your limits are.
“Want me to tell you this funny story about Johnny?” He asks. You smile nodding. “I’ll let you take the piss out of him tomorrow.” As he tells the story you close your eyes. His hand comes back periodically to brush your hair. It feels nice you let yourself enjoy it as you drift off to sleep.
You’re woken the next morning by the ringing of the doorbell. You shoot up in bed.
“I can get it.” You hear Simon groan.
“No, I’ll get it.” You insist praying that Simon is right and you never need to worry about Joe again. You look through the peep-hole it’s the police officers from yesterday. You open the door.
“Morning, sorry to bother you.” The female one says.
“It’s okay,” You respond automatically.
“We thought you might want to know there has been an update to the investigation regarding your stalker.” You look at her confused.
“What happened?” You ask.
“When the officers went to arrest him this morning he was found dead in his apartment. We’re very sorry, we suspect it was a suicide.” The officer says. Your hand grips the door harder as you hear the words.
“He was your ex-boyfriend correct?” The officer asks. You nod swallowing to get the lump away in your throat.
“He had you written down as an emergency contact, we’ve been unable to locate his family, do you happen to have their contact information?” She asks.
“I-I have his mothers number, just a second.” You say using all your willpower to let go of the door. You head back into the bedroom to get your phone. Simon’s back is facing you his legs swung out of the bed. You go back to the officers telling them the number.
“If you have any questions, or anything you need to add don’t hesitate to call us.” She says smiling. You nod and thank them as they leave. You close the door behind you, slipping the deadbolt into place. Suicide. The word spins round in your head. What the hell did they do to him?

part 3 of the foxes being brutally honest and insulting people to their faces because they are SAVAGES
NEIL :
"I figured he was an egocentric maniac who was so desperate for his own glory he refused to see the potential in anyone else"
"tell me you're not that stupid"
"I might have been a little more considerate if I'd known how stupid you are"
"you being an asshole at heart means I was right about your chances. you do understand by now that your cowardice is what's keeping you and andrew apart, right?"
"you're a spineless asshole. you let the world happen to you and don't bother to fight back. you let other people dictate how you can live your life and who you can spend your time with. remind me why you put up with your mother's abuse for so long. did you actually love her despite her madness, or were you just too afraid to walk away?"
"what do you think?" "I think fuck you"
"your false bravado helps no one" "neither does your cowardice"
"you already walked away from him once knowing what riko would do to him in your absence. don't do it again. if you don't protect him now, his death is on you"
"die free or die a failure. the choice is yours."
"I'd ask you how it feels but I guess you've always known what it's like to be second, you worthless piece of shit"
ANDREW :
"is your learning curve a horizontal line?"
"a privileged child like you has never seen the real world"
"I've had enough of your stupidity to last me a week"
"I'm volunteering my opinion" "don't. children should be seen and not heard"
"you're stupider than even I gave you credit for"
"you have a problem wherein you only invest your time and energy into worthless pursuits"
"you're a different kind of suicidal. didn't you figure that out in december? you're bait. you're the martyr no one asked for or wanted"
"I hope you two are miserable together"
WYMACK :
"anyone have ideas on how to make neil look a bit less like a battered wife?"
"I can't tell if you're being obtuse to fuck with me or if you're really that dumb."
"I need you to derail that one-track fucking mind of yours for two seconds"
"great. kevin's turning into another you. that's just what I needed."
"get washed up before your stench kills me"
KEVIN :
"we need you on the court but not if you're going to drag us down with you. in the shape you're in right now you'd be a complete waste of our time."
"even if you'd stepped it up when I told you to a year ago, you would have no chance of beating them. there is nothing at all you can do this late in the year. they are better than we are and they always will be"
"stop acting like a spoiled child"
"you've got a thing for controversial teams, I think, but I like this one much better than the last one" "they're mediocre at best but they're easier to get along with"
NICKY :
"do you get off on being such a debbie downer?"
AARON :
"it wasn't the drugs that made him crazy"
"I'm walking away and pretending I don't know you"

Halloween and cringetober may be behind us, yet I remain, coughing this up onto your back porch. Alec Lisa and Aisha were the only ones who enjoyed the costume party. Individuals and costume explanations below the cut:
Aisha and Brian: Power and Aki Hayakawa Chainsaw Man
This one goes out to the nine-year old I work with who wore a Denji costume for the school Halloween parade. Shoutout to you guy I don't know how you're allowed to watch that its the blood and sexual fantasies show.
I feel like miss suiciding-baiting-people-on-4chan would like Power. Aki works for Brian as they carry the "supposedly normal responsible one of their batshit group who very clearly has something wrong with him" niche of their series.
I feel like CSM is something that Brian and Alec would put on in the background when they were hanging out together. It's not really either of their thing, but it good pizza night fodder. Brian freaks out when Aisha mentions watching it.
Brian agreed to be Aki after he learned he could just wear a suit instead of making a real costume. Brian obviously likes objectively ridiculous costumes but it has to be something strained through 5 layers of machismo and a 17-year-old's idea of professionalism. He'll dress like something that gets painted onto a van but if there's too much whimsy or fun he'll start to freak. So halloween costumes would be weird for him. Aki just wearing a suit and a sword seemed like a good solution for this right up until the point where he had to explain what it was. Its from, hm, y'know, uhhhh this anime that my sister likes I'm just here to match with her.
Whenever he pulls the "I'm just in costume for my sister" thing Aisha makes everyone forget she exists. No escaping the weeb allegations for you Brian.
Taylor and Lisa: Madoka Kaname and Homura Akemi, Puella Magi Madoka Magica
Don't know if I need to explain this one, Worm/Madoka comparisons are almost cliche at this point
The costumes were Lisa's idea. Obviously.
The costumes were also Lisa's purchases, and enough was spent on them to make a veteran cosplayer weep. Her refusal to die her hair black would also make them weep but for different reasons.
After taking a look at herself Taylor enveloped herself in a particularly dense bug swarm for the whole night.
She eventually retreated to some side-room she found Brian hiding in and chatted with him for the rest of the party. On the condition that he make a darkness cloud for her.
She started choking on a prawn half an hour in after remembering he could see through his darkness clouds.
Rachel and Alec: Jade Harley and Dirk Strider, Homestuck
They are not going as a matching pair. Rachel does not know that she and Alec are wearing costumes from the same comic. She does not know what Homestuck is. This is one of the many ways she's better than us.
Rachel thinks she should've just been able to wear her usual dog mask for this party. Its a costume. What do you mean it doesn't count.
And why is her usual mask not enough, but the dog ears Cassie was really excited to loan her are fine? Aren't ears less costume than a full mask?
Admittedly apart from the pseudo-mind-control Alec and Dirk don't have a lot in common. Alec probably thinks he's more like Dirk than he actually is.
Dirk is if the concept of being in your own head was a guy, nay several guys, while Alec literally has to outsource getting in touch with his emotions to other bodies. Honestly the closest worm character to Dirk would probably be Krouse, considering the whole "chessmaster-manipulator who puts everything on himself and overmanages all his relationships while self-identifying as the person who can handle being the bad guy" thing, which Alec doesn't have going on at all. However:
It let me put Alec in a silly little fancylad outfit.
(Also they're both SB&HJ fans, so honestly I think its the perfect choice).

Limbus Company theory
Okay, I have absolutely no idea if anyone's noted this yet. Did anyone pick up that the Sinners are held down by a Sin, represented in their EGO, and their Canto are about their struggles against another sin entirely. The branch creates a space for 'penance'. When Rodya entered the field of effect of the branch, Baba Yaga went crazy, freezing the entire mine. There's clearly some paralleling at work here.
So let's go through.
Gregor, Canto 1: Sloth V Gluttony (survival); note that this expedition failed, and we later explore Sloth with Yi Sang
Rodion, Canto 2: Pride V Gloom; note that Rodya refused to actualize
Sinclair, Canto 3: Gluttony (Greed) V Lust
Yi Sang, Canto 4: Sloth V Gluttony (greed); Dante's resonance begins
Ishmael, Canto 5: Gloom V Envy; Dante's resonance progresses
When we look at the dominant sins of the remainder...
Heathcliff, Canto 6: Envy...
Don Quixote, Canto 7: Lust…
Hong Lu, Canto 8: Gloom…
Ryoshu, Canto 9: Wrath…
Meursault, Canto 10: Pride…
Outis, Canto 11: Pride…
Faust, Canto 12: Pride…
Dante, Canto ?: ????
Sins not confronted yet: Sloth, Pride, Wrath
Sinner sins left to explore: Envy, Wrath, Lust (If we're talking strictly what progressed Dante's clock, Gluttony & Pride)
Assuming Dante's doomsday clock setting is moving in 5 minute intervals, Dante currently has 2 positions left on their clock; 5 minutes to midnight and midnight itself. It's made almost explicit that their resonance with sinners is the tool with which they resonate with the branches. By obtaining each sin, they're building to some sort of complete whole.
Predictions based on this theory; Pride being so back-heavy probably means we're going to scramble for branches with Hermann. It gives the impression that for whatever reason Pride is necessary, which is interesting.
My own theory: Rodya says she'll settle in the cold [Gloom] for a little longer, and Sonya says she doesn't have the mark. I'd say this might mean Rodya hasn't sufficiently resonated. Sonya may have tried to bait her in hopes of getting better results in this regard.
This may mean ...
The last few Cantos will be a losing streak (LOL)
Someone who hasn't cleansed themselves of their opposing sin/formed the mark of cain will get the branch; I'd imagine this person shares sins with Dante, Vergilius, or Charon, who I believe are probably Envy, Wrath, and Lust respectively (OOP @ WHO WE'RE MISSING ⬆️)
In that respect Vergilius V Sloth, Charon V Pride, Dante V Wrath. I even think the wrath Dante is opposed to could be Vergilius
Very notable there's only 3 sins missing; it could be possible we already have Dante's branch; they were very obviously part of the group of Cain Marked, and again, their clock started at 25-to-midnight and just kind of sat there for a little while. It's also possible it didn't move until Yi Sang because their sin was Gluttony (ambiguous manifestation)? If Hermann also represents Lust ..... Think about it
Rodya's refusal of the call of Cain might become plot-relevant, just as our failure to observe what happened to Gregor on the myth arc timeline of 3 years ago and relationship with the Big Bad makes it obvious he's going to be a core character in the future. We can tell based on those who have the mark of Cain that he just doesn't have the chops, so mayhaps their mutual exclusion will be a surprise tool that will help us later.
And of course, my theories for the sins that weigh down our remaining Sinners: Heathcliff V Sloth, Don Quixote V Wrath, and Ryoshu V Pride. I predict all the Prides share Rodya's opposing force, which is Gloom; we see this in the books these characters are based on, with Meursault's despair of being sentenced to death being overcome by his Pride, Outis putting herself through grueling trials for the sake of returning to her family, and Faust beginning with suicidal depression leading to her pride creating(summoning) Mephistopheles.
I think it would be pretty funny if Dante was Gretchen's evil baby. Or that Gretchen might have been their previous self, manipulated into giving birth to Dante (extremely vulnerable and exploitable state), which they will be disgusted by and put to death. How many representations of the Divine Feminine in classic literature can Dante represent any% speedrun

Some Dynamics and Character Lore From GGZ
Given the title, this won't cover everything, especially the dynamics that are present for GGZ-only characters, but I thought I'd make a post for Hi3 characters that are present in GGZ for those of you who like to draw fanart/write fanfiction. As well as the fact that I like talking about GGZ.
Fair warning: this is going to be long, I have a bad habit of going into too much detail on things like this, so please bear with me.
For this post in particular, I was going to focus on multiple characters but this ended up being so long I relegated to it just being about Kiana and Mei, and more specifically two versions of them. I might make a follow up post for Bronya/Seele/Sin at another time.
Trigger warning for attempted suicide below. I feel like I should include this just in case.
Short introduction but that's all I have to say before diving into the material.
Kiana/Mei
It shouldn't really be a surprise that Kiana's greatest dynamic is with Mei and only Mei. The two are a lot more blatant with their feelings and relationship in GGZ. However, their relationship is also more tumultuous than in Hi3. They are a good example of doomed yuri, besides the ending to the Reborn storyline, which is bittersweet at the least and good at the most.
The writing of GGZ carries the same theme as Honkai 3rd, fighting against the fate of the world and for all that's beautiful. GGZ tends to explore the darker aspects to this setting, often times mixing in heavier themes while doubling down on the struggles of the characters. At times, it can be almost over the top, but I think its cohesive and still a finely crafted story.
It should come as no shocker that Kiamei is the primary ship of GGZ, it's outright confirmed that they love each other at points throughout the story. Sometimes it is for lesbian bait, but on the whole I think their writing is good and the way they rely on each other for support is nice.
Kiana and Mei are more grounded in GGZ, if I had to word it. They're still incredibly resilient, but there are times where they crack mentally. It happens to Kiana more than it does to Mei (save for the last arc, where it's all about Mei suffering), but seeing them work through these things does deepen the bond they have.
Now with all that said, let's move on to the actual content of this post.
Retrospective
Retro is the story you play when you first start the game, this is the "first half" of GGZ's story in some regard. GGZ's story and setting is divided into separate eras, with the main two being Retrospective and Reborn. Era Zero, taking place before both of them, was never fully completed unfortunately.
In Retro, Kiana and Mei initially start off on the wrong foot. Mei is sort of hostile towards Kiana (a result of her becoming a Herrscher) and Kiana is a bit insensitive to Mei on introduction, but after learning about Mei's past, Kiana manages to get through to Mei after their battle and the two make up.
Will put it out there that much like Kiana in the Hi3 mangas and early Hi3 story, she's a perv here. Yet her crush on Mei is a genuine thing.
Things calm down for a while, but when Bronya enters the picture and Mei begins to dote on her like a big sister, Kiana gets a little...possessive, and jealous. She's quite immature when it comes to romance in Retro. And while Mei is more serene about things she does care for Kiana too.
The two have their own unresolved matters, however. For Kiana, it's finding her dad who went missing when she was young (note: Kiana in GGZ is not a clone like in Hi3, this is the real and original Kiana Kaslana). And for Mei, it's regarding Ryoma's sentencing and his ties to Anti-Entropy. The two bring it up at points and reassure each other that they will find their dads which is sweet.
Things take a turn for the worse when Cocolia attacks St. Freya with the Moonlight Throne battleship. When the ship crashes into the church where the furnace containing the core of the second Herrscher is (yeah they stored Sirin's core there), Kiana somewhat fuses with the core and has a complete mental breakdown when Cocolia reveals the truth about Siegfried and how Kiana murdered him when she accidentally became a Herrscher while young.
This causes Kiana to become a Herrscher due to the rising amounts of Honkai energy in her body. If you're wondering about Cocolia, she dies by heading into the Honkai furnace and gets swallowed up by all the Honkai.
Kiana kills everyone after becoming the Herrscher of Finality (or Herrscher of The End, Final Herrscher etc), and the last person she kills is Mei.
It's a sad scene through and through, and the CGs are great. Even more so because at the end, when Kiana and Mei are floating above the world, Kiana still cries while the world ends.
See you in the next world originates from this scene. Very good piece of music.
So what happens after? The world ends, Mei and everyone die, but what happens to Kiana?
Kiana became a puppet for the Honkai, even after the initial catastrophe that occurred at St. Freya, small groups of people managed to survive the world-wide Honkai eruption. But they too would be wiped out by Kiana.
She didn't move, she didn't think anymore, and she had no emotion. Only when the Honkai needed her to kill whatever remnants of civilization rose up did she move.
This carried on for hundreds of years, or tens of thousands, but by the end Kiana had killed all of humanity.
And then she regained her consciousness and was faced with the reality of how many she had killed and how much blood she had spilled. To save herself from the suffering she tried to end her life, but because she was a Herrscher, she was immortal.
No one could kill Kiana, not even Kiana herself. When Kiana realized this fact she gave up all resistance. She deluded her mind with memories of the past and paralyzed herself on the spear she had impaled herself with, until the day Honkai disappeared from the world.
Quite the terrible end. I won't be covering Reborn in this post, but I thought it would be cool to write about the Fire Moth DLC side story, since their relationship in that story builds off of Retro.
Fire Moth
To understand Kiana and Mei's relationship in Fire Moth, you first need an understanding of the setting. The events of Fire Moth happen during Reborn's story, during the story chapters as a matter of fact.
But Fire Moth itself technically takes place in a stigma space where the world has turned desolate five years after Kiana became a Herrscher and destroyed everything. It should be noted that this is the world contained in the stigma space, so the setting of the story is not taking place in the real world. The backstories and characters are acting upon how they were in Retro (and were materialized by Kyuushou's memories of them).
This is Kyuushou's stigmata space, and she has the stigmata of both Kiana and Mei from Retro. Hence why this world bears so much familiarity to Retro.
Most life on the surface is dead, and the survivors in Nagazora have banded together to form the organization "Fire Moth", or "Moth Who Chases The Flame", under the leadership of an older Bronya.
Houraiji Kyuushou is the protagonist of Fire Moth, and you play through the story as her amnesiac self. Kiana is still the Final Herrscher, and rather than a being who is carrying out the Honkai's will endlessly, or someone who still has enough emotion and humanity to cry, this Kiana has gone deep into nihilism and has become devoid of most emotion.
This is a Kiana who knows what happened thousands of years ago and guilt has eaten away at her and left her with nothing.
CG of Kiana when Kyuushou first meets her in a dream.
To get a good idea of what Kiana and Mei are going through in Fire Moth, how about this short conversation I machine-translated. Might be inaccurate, I don't know Chinese that well! But hopefully it helps. Some of it has been taken from Guns Girl Z Cutscene Interpreter as well, I translated some of the text that was still in Chinese.
(Mei's text is purple, and Kiana's is blue).
Mei…what would you do if the world didn't fall apart?
If it hadn't collapsed...
I would probably have been like an ordinary girl, studying something I like, enrolling in a university I wished to go to, and then starting my own family, and walking through a happy and uneventful life with the person I love.
Kiana, what about you?
For me…as long as I'm with Mei, I'm already satisfied.
Really…don't say such embarrassing things...If it's Kiana then there must be something more worthy of pursuing.
If it's the old me…I do have hundreds of wishes I want to fulfill...
I wanted to attend the same school as Mei, eat our bento together under a cherry blossom tree, and spend our entire lunch break lazily.
I want to travel around the world with Mei, take pictures of us in beautiful landscapes, and keep our figures in a precious photo album forever.
I want to build a small cabin by the sea with Mei, watch the tide rise and fall together, collect seashells on the sand blown by the sea breeze together, and then fall asleep under the embrace of the moonlight.
There are so many more wishes…well there are so many more plans too..
But now…
I just want to stay by your side quietly like this forever.
Mei...please give me your hand.
Yes...
If it's possible, will you stay with me until the end of the world?
Kiana…thank you.
Thank you for loving me so much. For protecting me so much.
But both of us, no, we all, we all understand.
That this is a long-cherished wish that simply cannot be fulfilled.
Because...because all of it...has been destroyed by your hands.
Every promise has been turned into ash... and we can never go back.
I'm so sorry Kiana...I'm so sorry.
It's time for us to say our farewells...
(Kiana alone with Mei's ribbon).
...
I understand.
In fact, I understand it better than anyone.
This is the mistake I made...I've destroyed our future with my own hands.
Such an ending is the best punishment for me.
Alone in a world without you. Even death is too kind for me.
(There's a little bit more to this scene, but it's not relevant to this post).
During the final battle between Kiana and Mei (they're both in the same nihilistic and existential boat here, so naturally they are the two overarching antagonists), when Mei falls in battle, Kiana bids her farewell and calls Mei her "only regret".
At the end of Fire Moth, Kyuushou manages to reignite Kiana's wish from forty-two thousand years ago, which was to bring hope to the world. What Kiana was chasing all this time was a sliver of hope in a world that gave her none.
Kiana relinquishes her existence after their battle, so she along with Mei disappear from the world entirely. No one remembers them and nobody recognizes their names. Kyuushou remarks that Kiana's dream was to live in a world without Honkai, a sentiment echoed by both Kiana and Mei.
Fun fact: if you 100% all of Fire Moth, you get this wonderful CG of the two.
Conclusion
If you made it this far, thanks. I'm a bit out of my element when writing things like this, so if you have any questions on anything I'd be happy to answer them. I appreciate GGZ a lot, so making this was fun and I hope I can do more of it for the others.
I have a nagging feeling this was a bit too long, so I apologize for that. I ended up explaining a lot of GGZ's lore when this was mainly supposed to be about relationship dynamics...oops.
But to summarize, Kiana and Mei's relationship isn't entirely different from what they have in Hi3, but just like in Hi3 they have their own struggles and nuances. Mostly in the formed of doomed yuri but that's beside the point. I like their relationship in GGZ, at times its as simple as a few exchanges before a battle, and at others its the crux of the story itself.
With all that being said, I hope you enjoyed the read!!

Also, same anon as before but something I noticed about DoggySatan is that he cherry picks the parts of people talking about him that makes him seem the most like a victim.
He screenshotted a user, upset because they were “hoping his gf leaves him” but completely ignored the context of it being that DoggySatan potentially sent his GF as a flying monkey to fight his battles for him (that anon that was allegedly his gf), which is something abusers often do.
DoggySatan, they weren’t randomly saying they hope your gf leaves you just to be mean, they were saying IF that anon WAS actually your gf and not just you sending it yourself, that using her as a flying monkey is abusive and could potentially be the sign of a toxic relationship she might need to get out of if. And even then, the potential scenario of you pretending to be her is also toxic because you would be using her name to manipulate someone without her consent. So either way, it doesn’t look good.
DoggySatan is also accusing users who were LIKING A POST that literally is just saying: “DoggySatan acts like a total victim but they would do the same thing to Chai at the drop of a hat if they could” (which is definitely true), of “being in” on their “””sexual harassment””. I cant even count the ways at this point they are exaggerating anything and everything now as long as it makes themselves look like a wounded deer for sympathy points. It feels like they are desperately grabbing at straws.
I have been through years of therapy and have had very rough experiences with a narcissistic father who uses the same manipulative tactics that DoggySatan uses far too often. I have come out stronger but also am able to recognize these toxic behavioral patterns way too easily enough to smell bullshit when I see it.
The way they manage to completely reframe and remove the context of any scenario and pretend they weren’t doing vile and hateful shit to make themselves look like a sad, sopping puppy in the rain is honestly infuriating and they definitely need help for it, but I know DoggySatan will just brush this off and ignore it or more likely rewrite it as more “harassment”. It’s definitely the sign of a deeper-rooted issue but they’re just going to continue to plug their ears and go “NO, NO, NO! WHY IS EVERYONE HARASSING ME!!! BLOCK THESE PEOPLE THEY’RE HARASSING ME!” instead. It’s really, really pathetic, and it’s honestly sad.
It's sad, and I keep trying to have sympathy because they're clearly not well, but they're suicide baiting, accusing me of making jokes about a dead person, and dragging in people who've done nothing more egregious than like my posts.
And it's true, they're textbook abuse tactics.

"Non-binary girl" history anon. Thanks for explaining and for the links to look through! I've been watching the rise of this on Tumblr & LJ for along time, but it was always at a distance, and of course I thought the fad would die immediately so I never thought it was worth digging into back then. I do remember at least a few users using the word "non-binary" to describe their fashion sense on Tumblr before trans* (remember the asterisk?) activism got big here, but maybe they themselves were appropriating that vocabulary from the LJ & DA crowd? It's so hard to untangle this stuff and really makes me wish I had thought to document it at the time, now that I'm trying to explain to people 15 years later that their "gender" started as a fad on LJ and isn't part of some 1000s year old queer history.
I'm not entirely sure when I saw "non-binary" as a term for the first time. I do remember the birth of words like "agender", "bigender" and such, which came before. In general, it started with girls going "I don't think I'm really transgender… but I don't feel like a girl because I like wearing boxers and hate dresses" and them concluding that makes them neither, or both at the same time, or both but they switch depending on whether they feel like putting on make-up or not. Shoving it all under the term "non-binary" came a little later.
This won't particularly make you feel better, but it doesn't matter. It would have made no difference at all if you had painstakingly documented every single thing, screencapped every relevant quote, created a whole timeline on it. The person accidentally "responsible" for spreading the word "demisexual" outside of its niche forum of origin had documented & screencapped every bit of proof that the word was just made up by a 15-year old girl for her monsterfucker RP fanfic. None of the "demisexual" adults who've seen this care that they're using a teenager's childish made-up fantasy word as a serious sexual identity and continue to use it all the same.
But you don't need a history on the origin of these words. You have 15 years of documented non-stop aggressive, transphobic bullying, suicide-baiting and death threats sent by the "non-binary" community to actually transsexual people. You have evidence by the WPATH that the "non-binary" crowd doesn't experience gender dysphoria, the symptom that's clinically required to be present for a diagnosis of transsexualism. You have a community of people that truly believes gender dysphoria doesn't actually exist, transsexualism isn't biological in nature, and gender is something purely cosmetic, malleable and changeable by choice – the exact same arguments made by the equally transphobic and sexist conservative crowd. These are your arguments.
"Non-binary" is an inherently sexist and transphobic concept, one that has been continuously used this past decade to bash, threaten and intentionally trigger actually transsexual people. All that is still as true in the present as it ever was.

still trying to figure out how 2 answer that one ask about what would happen if lisa decided to make alec her new silly rabbit. the issue is that taylor is a perfect silly rabbit for lisa to get invested in because aside from being blatantly suicidal they're also just like. genuinely compatible for a friendship. not a sustainable or healthy one but they're compatible enough to like each other. alec however is so repressed that it makes him stable and any amount of intervention on lisa's behalf would either irritate him but w/ no emotional impact or actually emotionally get thru to him and make things worse. and i think they can get along well enough as Roommate Buddies but they wouldn't like. choose to hang out together. i think the most plausible circumstances 4 it to come about are alec surviving the suicide attempt and accidentally realizing he Has Feelings and Cares About At Least One Thing as an end result (thus giving him lisa-bait psychological problems) but even then this runs into the issue that lisa would b able to recognize the most effective way to manage him would be bonking him and aisha together like dolls not trying to cozy up to him herself. and it still wouldn't change that she's just not liable to like him as a person enough to get reaaally into silly-rabbitting him. so i may have to fully suspend disbelief abt lisa's personality on this one.

I'm sorry how did the creator of A Silent Voice fuck up showing empathy and compassion for marginalized voices? That's something she nominally excels at.
If we're talking about To You Eternity, the second season introduces a whole bunch of new characters that Fushi creates a bond with. One of them is Bon, a flamboyant king with autism. While nothing is wrong the character per se, there is the issue of another character who is introduced as his loyal subject. The character is introduced as being overweight and clumpsy, but despite all of that, they're presented as being brave and strong. Now this character is shown to harbor feelings for Bon, and Fushi becomes intrigued by the idea of same-sex relationships. However, things become a bit problematic further as we watch the second season as both Bon and his subject is captured by a bunch of anti-Fushi cultists and put in a holding cell. Anyways, both of them are starving until Bon's subject becomes thin enough that her "true" appearance is revealed, showing us that she was a girl this whole time. This revelation was extremely... anti-climactic, since it kind of kills off Fushi's curiosity about same-sex relationships. Bon's subject then becomes a maid and does nothing for the rest of the season other than emotionally support the cast. Furthermore, Hayase is a villain from the first season, and she had some form of obsession with Fushi and decided to deify him. Her legacy is spread through her descendants whose purpose is to fuck Fushi. Anyways, one of the descendants turned out to be a boy, and because this guy is head over heels for Fushi, regardless of which persona he assumes, he starts behaving like a sexual predator when Fushi rejects his moves. He is shown to redeem himself, but c'mon...
The modern arc focuses more on a peaceful world, where the knockers have been successfully eliminated, but Fushi still has to deal with the fact that people still aren't happy. The pacing is a bit all over the place; we're once again presented with another descendant of Hayase. While that's not an issue, Hayase's descendant has an actual deep story... until it goes back to square one of being Yandere bait again. And like every descendant of Hayase, they wanna fuck Fushi. Now the worst part is in the same arc, and we're introduced to this NEET who is a siscon and lolicon. Anyways, a 10 year old ADOPTED girl is introduced to his household and he becomes overly obsessed with her. This is the only part of the series where we get intentional fanservice, as we can see pantyshots of the little girl and the dude oogling at her body, which is extremely uncharacteristic of this series. The girl commits suicide and is possessed by a knocker (the main villains of this series) and starts treating the dude like her bdsm slave. The NEET is presented as a caring person who wishes to do his best for her, but he is shown to be a pedophile, and the author shrugs it off on the basis of his siscomplextiy.
Idk why the story just went off the rail, it's not even the same series anymore.

For the character ask meme: Casca (as I'm typing this I realize that I might be baiting you to swing at a hornets nest but..... well, up to you lol), and Herbert West!
lmao I love trying to answer these kinds of memes for the challenging characters, so ty! 💖
Casca
Something I like: I was gonna say how badass she is, and I do love that when we get to see it shine, but the narrative undermines it so often by forcing her into the damsel in distress role. So instead I'm saying how pettily violent she can be lol. Like when she punches Guts in his stab wound after he wakes up in chapter 13, or when she full on attacks him, fighting to kill, and stabs him when he returns, or throws a knife at him in the cave. It doesn't generally feel framed as like, cutesy tsundere violence because she's a girl and couldn't really hurt Guts either, it feels like she's a dangerous warrior on a hair trigger because she never learned to deal with her emotions effectively, because she's just as fucked up as everyone else in this story. And I'm into that.
Maybe I'm reading a liiiittle more into it than intended lol, but w/e, I'll take it. And I'd love to see that trait of hers crop up again at some point, as futile as that wish seems right now.
Something I dislike: Frankly the actual hardest part of answering this question is trying to narrow it down to one thing lol. But eliminating all the many, many things I can blame more on the narrative's treatment of her than on Casca as a character watsonianly, then I guess I'd have to say the way she's motivated by love for Griffith, then Guts, and nothing else at all, according to her own stupid suicide speech.
Granted there are ways I can argue this is deeper and more interesting than it's likely intended to be - basically falling for men who save her as an ingrained trauma response - but even if that is intentional, it still sucks that that's the token woman's response to trauma. Griffith gets building an empire, Guts gets killing monsters, Casca gets falling in love with assholes. Boo.
(There's also the way she shows a "soft" (and more traditionally feminine 🙄) side when she starts falling for Guts... tough call which aspect of her stupid romantic plotline sucks more lol.)
Herbert West
Something I like: One of my favourite things in fiction is a person with two obsessions: something fucked up, and someone they're in gay love with. Herbert West's two obsessions are resurrecting corpses and Dan, and that is a slam dunk of a character. Especially how ridiculously obsessed he is with resurrecting corpses. Will it get him thrown out of med school? Resurrected. Will they immediately try to kill him? Resurrected. Did he just resurrect it and then have to kill it again to save his own life? Resurrected. Glorious. I love a man who can't make a good decision to save his life.
Something I dislike: Now this is hard. Honestly even his misogyny is entertaining lmao. I don't think there's a single thing he did in the first two movies that did not contribute to the entertainment value I got from watching them.
So, I haven't seen it, but I'm still gonna say the fact that Dan isn't in the third movie and it sounds like he's no longer super obsessed with him.
Send me a character and I’ll tell you something I like about them, as well as something I dislike about them

Not sure if I even read the Breaking Point fic. Maybe, maybe not. But I have my own share of fics that "we can fix canon" but make worse.
There one fic I recall (the name slipped from my mind) where ofa somehow shows the class A1 all the abuse Izu endured by BK - it was all thanks to bk and Izu forced team up- and still...people did nothing.
Now think about this premise: ofa shows the abuse and people are just midly concerned.
Why is that? Why make Izu be seen as a victom and get help and support is smth so rare in this fandom?
It is rare see Ochako and his so called friends do stick up for him in fics and not be demonized. Hell, there one where class A1 finds out bk bully Izu(OH MY GOD HE TRIED TO KILL HIM...why fics make them discovery their past as if is a big plot twist?) And proceed to give a taste of his own poison.
And...."this is bad. They shouldnt do this. Poor bk"
You know, some stories talk aboht forgiviness and can be a really touching and well done thing....but those are rare, extremely so. I'm tired of "forgive them bc this is correct" let Izu hold grudges. Let Izu dont forgive bk and be in his right.
A dorama who got this right is The Glory. The mc was horrible abused and got her revenge and in no point people were "forgive them" to mc.
To conclude: this fandom seems to tnink Izu and pain are the OTP when it really isnt nor should be.
Yeah, the fandom can be... Desensitized to this issue so to speak. I think this is for two reasons.
1. So much of Bakugou's behavior is brushed off as a joke. It's easy for people to turn a blind eye to his treatment of Izuku because so much of it is glazed over by cheap laughs.
Honestly I'm pretty sure that's why people think we're so stuck in the suicide baiting in episode 1. Because that's the only moment the series ever really treats Bakugou's behavior as serious as it is. Like, yeah, that was bad, but that's far from the only thing Bakugou's ever done to Izuku. There's attacking him during the Quirk Apprehension Test, hunting him down and seriously injuring him during the Battle Trials, being purposely uncooperative and punching him during the Final Exam, coercing him into a fight after curfew and demanding information that absolutely wasn't his business, throwing his headpiece at him, attempting to forcibly draw Blackwhip out with no consideration of the consequences, etc. Mind you, everything I just listed happened at UA (a few when he was supposed to be "changing"). I would argue that a good number of these things were worse than the suicide baiting.
But they don't register in people's heads the same way because the narrative doesn't treat them the same way. So when fanfiction authors try to write these stories, they're only looking at one aspect of it while turning a blind eye to everything else. They might do a decent job addressing how Bakugou treated Izuku in Aldera, but do a piss poor job of addressing his behavior at UA.
2. Horikoshi doesn't allow Izuku to be looked at as the victim.
This wasn't always the case. We're supposed to feel bad for him in episode one. We're supposed to think that his treatment at Bakugou's hands during the Battle Trials is brutal. He was written to be the sympathetic underdog who's been given a bad hand in life and gets treated like shit because of it.
But that began to change around Deku vs Kacchan Part 2. Hori knew that Izuku had to forgive Bakugou if the viewers were going to. But there was also no way to realistically do this if he actually had a negative response to Bakugou's treatment of him. So he gave us the implication that Izuku wasn't bothered by it at all (which we know isn't true because he was extremely upset when Bakugou said what he said in episode one). He confirms this through All Might of all people, so it has to be true, right?
And most viewers will accept this at face value. Because they're looking for an out for Bakugou. They're looking for a way they can like him while not condoning a bigoted bully.
That's how I see things anyway

🐑hiding medical issues, hostage situations, character study, good intentions
Ooooh now THAT'S an interesting lineup! Let's see...
Character Study + Hostage Situation is neat, and makes sense from a writing perspective since it puts the characters in a very controlled space to explore their emotions and reactions.
I think I'm gonna go back to my old friends the Suicide Squad, at least a few of them. I'd stick to the canon characters, since it's a character study, and I'd approach them all separately. They've been betrayed and kidnapped as hostages/bait for Amanda Waller - the kidnappers don't realize she'll just let them die, but the Squad themselves do and have to either accept their deaths or fight to escape. They're each in separate rooms, isolated, and have different reactions to the situation.
Rick is where we get "good intentions". He assumes it's a sort of misunderstanding, not an outright betrayal, and his first move is to remain calm and try to work the situation through. As competent a fighter as he is, coming out the gate with that is only going to get him killed.
DuBois is in a similar situation, at first keeping calm and assessing the situation. This would be an interesting point of character study, compare and contrast: both are military men and would approach the situation similarly, but DuBois always expects to have been betrayed while Rick has more trust in his team.
Harley is... Harley. She, of course, is chatty and delightfully obnoxious towards her captors, but she's also the first to spot an escape and actually work towards it. This part of the study would be about her worldview, how she sees it all as a game but still is incredibly intelligent at the core of it.
Abner is where we get "hiding medical issues". They took his gauntlets off him (assuming the gauntlets made the dots rather than channeling them), and he doesn't have a power dampener, so the dots are slowly worsening inside him and he's doing his best to hide them from his captors. He's also oddly emotionless about it all, fallen back into his old passively-suicidal ways, and the only time we see any of the other characters interact is when the others go back to rescue him.
Cleo is the foil to Abner's emotionlessness - she's never been kidnapped before, she's barely even used to being a member of the Squad, they took her tech away from her (and Sebastian is nowhere to be found), and she's not doing well. She's also the only one to think of the others in addition to herself: not only her own escape, but if the others are alright too.
Lastly... we're gonna cut the tension by shifting to Nanaue, who is sitting in an empty cell, playing Tic-Tac-Toe with what appears to be the kidnappers' blood. He's sitting on the floor, on a pile of loose wood, having crushed his chair underneath him when they tried to tie him up.

Rambling Review: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003)

WARNING! ALL THE SPOILERS ARE HERE!
Where was the girl keeping the gun?... Let's just assume it was somehow tied to her inner thigh and leave it at that. The scene is horrific enough as it is. I like that the premise of them not going to the police about this is believable - they have pot stashed in the car so they can't go to the cops or they'll get arrested.
In a way, it's good that I watched the prequel first. Now I know what it's all about - who the Sheriff is, who the clerk lady is, why the guys are supposed to head to the Crawford Mill, etc. I guess Sheriff Hoyt learned his lesson from the prequel - instead of going and fetching the prey himself, he makes the prey come to him. Also, remember that Cousin Hewitt got his legs blown/sawed off in the prequel so he can't help with fetching.
oh Jessica... your intentions are pure and your heart is in the right place, but it's also what will get you all killed. - in fact, her good-heartedness is what got them in this mess in the first place. If she didn't insist on stopping to help the messed up girl, none of this would have happened. Also, this is kind of a twist on the old premise - now we have five able-bodied unhurt young people altogether in a group. How are they gonna get separated and taken down? That's interesting. Cause before it was either people separating and being differently abled, or starting off with being injured. But this is a new set-up. I suppose the kid will act as bait. And them being kind of stupid - you should have listened to the nerd. And while I kind of in a way get it about getting the girl's body back to her parents (how they're gonna find them is another question) but also, they are essentially all getting killed because of some weird honouring of an already dead body. So, I get it but I also really don't get it. And now they got separated into two different locations, that's just great.
I wonder, even without seeing the prequel, who would believe that R. Lee Ermey is the actual Sheriff? Just look at him. And listen to him, such sass. I know I'm not supposed to like him even a little bit, but again, thanks to the prequel, I appreciate this character. He is a great horror movie villain, the demented mastermind of the whole Hewitt operation.
LEATHERFACE! Don't judge me, I'm a fan.
Is this proper police procedure to wrap up suicide victims in Saran wrap? I know that the guys are traumatised and not thinking clearly, but they should be really suspicious of this Sheriff. And yet, you have to admire Ermey's commitment to this character, complete with anecdotes from "his patrol days". Wait... is he actually letting the other kids go? Not forcing them into his car to go and testify or something? That's interesting. So far, they only have one captured victim, and while that's the arguably biggest and strongest guy, there are still four capable young people running around unattended. Alright, I'm invested now.
So, the collection of abandoned rusted cars, people's teeth, and the suicide girl's photo in a jar don't raise suspicion? You still wanna stick around and investigate? Okay, fine, now you can't abandon your friend, but why are you separating again?
Meanwhile, Leatherface is just out here, minding his business, working on his new catch. I bet he doesn't even question how the guy got in the house, who he may have been with, etc. He's just happy to have a new body to dissect and possibly a face to take.
Ms Leather The Face is at it again! Keeping it pushing. Gotta love the determination and the trek skills. Also, why so many sheets hung out to dry? Makes for a cool visual, but what is the practical purpose and explanation?
Yay, Ermey is back! And now we're getting closer to the climactic third act with all the kids now in "custody" in one way or another and taken back to the Hewitt house. Ms Face treating the second guy like literally a piece of meat is dementedly brilliant. He treats the cut-off limb with salt so as to preserve it. He is preparing the meat for conservation. And yes, here he goes, working on his new face. And oh wow, his old face is... gross. I suppose that disease they mentioned in the prequel took parts of his face along with it. Rotting from the outside, so to speak. Also, I love the juxtaposition of Leatherface's physical horror and Ermey's psychological horror. Leatherface is a brutal executioner while Ermey goes for psychological torture and making people inflict physical pain on themselves, like with the poor nerd. This whole scene is fantastic! So well acted, so tense. This is how you do it!
The poor dude trying to get himself off the meat hook is... too much. It's making me physically sick and I can stomach a lot of horror. I'm not even joking, my breakfast is starting to repeat on me from all this carnage.
How does this movie have such a low rating on IMDB? What's wrong with people? This is such a solid horror film, especially for a remake.
I tell you... when Ms Face slashed the girl open and then turned around and looked at Jessica with her boyfriend's face... that is the perfect blend of physical and psychological horror right there. Visceral is also the word we could use here. We could use all the words, really. This is seriously one of the best horror movies I've seen in a while! And now Jessica has encountered the Tea Lady and shit is about to get even more demented. And I already feel sick as it is. Honestly, I'm having Tick-Tacks and black sugared tea cause my stomach can't take this, and I usually eat along with stuff like Saw and Hostel, but this is some next-level shit... I am actually taking a break because I can't take it anymore. Wow...
Oh no, the Tea Lady is gonna drug Jessica, right? And I'm guessing that baby came from the suicide girl? Oh yeah, I guessed it!
Oh look, Ms Face changed his face. I guess the new one didn't fit him well enough. Maybe he should try the other dude, he had a broader jawline.
This is morbid. Poor guy can't get off the meat hook although they keep trying, and he's just hanging there, playing the piano with his one leg. Asking Jessica to finish him - and she actually did, wow. They can never do it, but Jessica is special.
JESUS! The nerd was in the bathtub and I thought it was the boyfriend who even without a face was somehow still alive. And I screamed, sorry neighbours! I actually screamed which again, never happens. What a movie!
Okay, hiding in some house is kinda stupid, but where else are they gonna go? I kind of get it. I'm guessing the nerd is still gonna die and Jessica might make it.
This movie is a never-ending torture parade. Jessica somehow escaped the abandoned house (only because Ms Face got caught in the barbed wire and sliced his leg open.) But he caught up quickly at the meat-packing plant which again is operational and looks legit (remember the horror show from the prequel?)
Wow... that was a lot. I now need a sedative in the form of One Fine Day which I can finally watch. But this movie, this fucking movie... was fantastic! It is a testament to how truly gruesome a horror movie is if it made me scream and feel physically sick. Bravo, cast and crew!
