Okay so just picture this, alright?

The chain sitting around a fire on skyloft, it’s nighttime already and the stars are out. The fire is glowing softly.

They know they don’t have long before another portal shows up, so Sun asks Sky to dance with her before the night is over and the chain has to leave.

Time gets out his ocarina, Legend gets out a flute, and Wild gets out a harp—why? Because I said so. The three of them play a lovely song or two for Sky and Sun to dance to, slowly swaying and twirling in the firelight, dancing hand in hand underneath the stars.

It’s gorgeous and peaceful and wonderful, and later that night as they’re going to bed, Sun has news for Sky. She tells him they’ll be parents soon, tells him to come home safely from wherever Hylia sends them next with portals. It’s sweet and lovely and they’re finally going to start their family and they’re both so happy and in love and it’s an amazing night.

Now imagine what would happen if Sky gets fatally wounded in the next era they end up in and he never gets to go home and meet his child or see Sun ever again, he never gets to dance with her again, never gets to see their kid take their first steps, never gets to kiss Sun goodnight again. Imagine if this was their very last night together and neither of them knew this goodbye was going to be for good.

How is Sky weird? I mean just being Link would make you weird, but Sky specific weirdness?

It really depends on who you ask.

If you ask Four, he’d say that Sky’s facial expressions remind him of one of the stable dogs back home. That is to say, he always either looks like there’s not a single thought in his head or he looks incredibly bewildered and concerned. There is no in between. Internally, Red never shuts up and constantly compares the two, and Four has almost accidentally called him by that dog’s name a few times.

If you ask Time, he’d say that his love of cuccos is very strange (though Time is extremely biased because those feathery demons are the reason he actually needs an eyepatch). He’s also been taking and saving pictographs of weird and wacky places and poses Sky has fallen asleep in.

If you ask Legend, he’d give you a list of reasons he thinks Sky is weird. There’s fact that his sailcloth always smells like perfume that never seems to fade, how he always seems shocked by all this hero nonsense despite going on his own adventures, how he can fall asleep basically anywhere, and how the only dish he’s capable of making is a particular pumpkin soup but somehow nothing else. That’s just the things he’d think of off the top of his head.

If you ask Hyrule, he’d say that Sky’s “commander voice” is weird and honestly kinda spooky! It’s like Sky’s an entirely different person when he’s barking orders on the field. He does really enjoy watching Sky fight though, he’s so elegant and fast!

If you ask Twilight, he’d insist that Sky is the smartest dumb guy he’s ever met. This man looked him in the eye and referred to cauliflower as “ghost broccoli” with all the confidence in the world, but he also has an incredible grasp of physics and has given Wild tips on how to be more aerodynamic when he jumps off mountains.

If you ask Wind, he’d say that the way he makes kissy faces at those “hell birds” (cuccos) both “fucking weird” and “crazier than Loft and Champ combined” (referring to Wild and Four and the shenanigans they get into).

If you ask Warriors, he’d say that he can’t understand how different Sky is on the battlefield versus anywhere else. In battle he’s incredibly fast and keenly aware of everyone and everything in the vicinity. He keeps an eye on all of them while also shredding enemies like he was born to do it (and in a way, he kind of was). But he’s also witnessed Sky walk right into a tree because he was daydreaming, draw his sword on it, and then apologize to it before realizing it’s just a tree, not a person.

If you ask Wild, he’d insist that it’s fucking weird how everyone else considers Sky to be one of the least crazy of the group (which is a fucking lie if he’s ever heard one). He’s watched Sky get into all sorts of chaos and shenanigans just like the rest of them, but somehow his sleepy demeanor and the fact that he isn’t usually the instigator somehow keeps him from getting any blame.

If you ask Sun, she’ll say he has the strangest compliments. “Your hands are very convenient!” he tells her with all the love and adoration in the world. She’s charmed but confused.

If you ask Groose, he’ll just say “his face”. (In reality he finds the weird prophecy and reincarnation bullshit to be his weirdest trait, but he shares that with Sun so it’s not a Sky exclusive weird thing)

I’m actually cooking up individual personalities for the sableye rn! I haven’t gotten down to the nitty-gritty of each individual, but they’ve all got names and a few have some details to help separate them from each other in terms of look. Here’s some notes for a teaser:

Jasper is a very intense character, despite being an incurable prankster who you’d expect to be more lighthearted. He takes pranks very seriously— they were his passion when the Dark Future was a thing, and now that whole mess is all wrapped up, they are his life. Do not spoil a prank he’s planning if you value your kneecaps.

Jet was pretty much a secretary for Dusknoir back in the Dark Future. Very organized, responsible, and obsessed with punctuality. He was the sableye who got distracted by Shinies the least, though that’s not to say he never saw a pretty piece of seaglass and jumped out of the time travel equivalent of a moving car. He has a notch in the base of his right ear-looking thingy.

Tourmaline (often just called Tourmi) is impatient and bossy, but means well. Fond of cooking, and uses way too many spices in his dishes. He just dumps an entire shaker of black pepper into a small pot of soup and calls it good.

Cinnabar just wants to spend all her time reading. The fact she’s got terrible insomnia is not a major inconvenience to her— it is a superpower. Everyone will turn in for the night and she’ll go “Okay time to start another 400 page novel!! I need to know what happens next!!”

Jade likes teasing her friends and making horrible Pinterest fail-looking crafts. Has a small gemstone beneath her left eye that resembles a beauty mark. Loves drama and gossip.

Smaragdus doesn’t understand anything that’s going on around him at any given point. A major ditz, a bit of a philosopher, very creative, and extremely confused by the types of humor his peers enjoy. He wears an earring as a memento from a dear friend. Loves fighting.

I can totally see Jet tagging along with Dusknoir to the Present, though he would need a steady stream of busywork to stay sane in such a peaceful environment! He’s very timid and would also struggle keenly to adapt to socializing in a non-post-apocalyptic scenario. He only ever really spoke to Dusknoir and the other sableye in the Dark Future, after all, and he’s known them for most of his life! I think he’d end up getting along really well with Chatot, once they both got over their individual rigidity enough to ask what the other person does for fun. (They both like cleaning and organization. They look at each other after answering in the same way and they both think to themselves, Oh my goodness it’s the only other sane person in the world. We’re going to have so much to complain about together.)

On a side note 83.33% of the group are memers and neither Dusknoir nor Smaragdus understand the majority of what comes out of their mouths.

The sheer level of detail with which Fitz describes the Fool is absolutely insane. He thinks about his hands constantly. Every single time the light hits his hair Fitz starts thinking about how golden and pretty it is. When the Fool was showing him his tattoo and Fitz started describing the way his hair was falling over his back??? Fitz. Please. Good lord
