Can't lie, armys are kinda useless right now. They love the idea of members continuously releasing but they don't have any fucks to give in actuality after week 1 even if they're competing with other fandoms especially now that they're all enlisted and we have such limited promo. The only hope one has is that Jimin has a great track record of making songs armys vibe to - they will not usually stream beyond a day unless they actually like it. If they end up loving the album though, that could fuel their competitive spirit.

Also to the anon that's worried about opps linking up, tbh it's not easy work to spend money or stream music even for fans. I doubt these people are doing anything extra for someone they don't even care about just because it harms Jimin. All they love doing is running their mouth on twitter and that's probably the extent of it. For skz, their endless variants are the only threat and for Lisa, the autoplay and playlisting she'll get. Unless they get some truly viral moment, based on history it seems unlikely we'll have to worry about them long term.

If skz decide to go the let's pollute the earth path and release a lot of versions, then a bb200 #1 will unfortunately be difficult. I can only hope BB might suddenly apply their anti-kpop bias with some handy filtering. They haven't so far but hope springs eternal (for me).

Also regarding 2 versions versus 3 - extra tools are handy and I desperately need Hybe to do their job but I'll always appreciate if an artist, when he has to choose between artistic sensibility and charts goes for the former. At least I know Jimin will never embarrass me as a fan with some transparent cash grab album or some empty music. Long term I think it's more valuable to build that kind of relationship with your audience and have that kind of reputation.

Lastly while I'm really hoping for some great debut numbers, the real lynchpin of Faces success was twofold - it's artistic merit that's acknowledged by almost all and it's lasting power. While Jimin is responsible for the former, I hope that longevity is our goal for Muse as well. The way Face and LC pulls streams more than a year after release with it's (comparatively) limited covers and remixes is actually amazing.

More than anything I'm excited to see what Jimins planned for his sophomore attempt. Will his pre-release be something experimental (for him) like last time? What kind of sound will he be going for? Can he live upto my frankly massive expectations built up after face? Are we all dead on about the 70s theming and how might that influence the tracks? Ahhh it's hard to wait for answers. New music in 10 days. That's crazy 😭

I’ve been thinking it to myself that armys have silently been waiting on some quality music from somebody, somewhere, to drop. They’re still churning out hit tweets about Like Crazy till this day. You’d be hard pressed to see an army wax on about prior releases the way they have about LC. You wouldn’t have even though Hobi dropped anything this year the way they don’t mention it. I have faith in my man that he’ll deliver, I do. Even if it doesn’t exceed Like Crazy I still believe it’ll be a good song.

Like I remember the estimates for FACE when they came out were like 105k-110k and we managed to bring it up to 164k by the end of tracking week when our competition at the time was Morgan Wallen and we had an almost 100k gap to bridge. I know we still didn’t beat him (atp it was an after thought cause Jimin got #1 on hot100 with LC 😭) but the work everybody put in back then? On level with a BTS comeback and although it was stressful it was still fun.

The #JIMINJIMIN and #MUSE hashtags on twitter have been trending for nearly 2 days now with 2M and 1.5M respectively, the interest is absolutely there. I also want longevity with MUSE cause to think LC will still be charting by the time the pre release come around is amazing. I don’t want MUSE to fall off quickly and I want it to be impactful just like FACE was.

If we could get more digital album versions (cause that’s really what it’s gonna take), I think we have a shot We’ll just have to see what MUSE’s estimates puts it at to gauge the effort we have to expend. I’m still first and for most here to enjoy the music cause I’ve been begging for it forever I don’t want charts to take up too much space. I think Jimin’s gonna be pulling from the people who inspires him in sound potentially. So not necessarily 70s but MJ, (and he’d actually do that man justice unlike the sorry attempts Hybe pulled last year 🥴) Neyo etc . and just genre hopping in general. But considering those two do a lot of RNB and pop, I’m really excited for it.

Someone suggested that hollyhomburg gets into another group to cope with bts going. And I kinda wish I could. I saw someone say there’s idols who are a “bias in-law” (u like them but aren’t a stan I think) which is kind of a mood. I’d say this is me with Hoshi, Soobin, Hyunjin, and Yeonjun. But I want to be loyal to the boys. Also, no one really hits right imo. Seventeen Ateez stray kids and txt seem like good groups to get into. But I’d rather go through all of bts’s videos before I consider stanning another group idk :/ Also, seeing other group’s esp the three I mentioned have fan signs, fan calls, and concerts looks so fun and I get jealous. Bc I like them a lil but not enough to do those things. Ateez seem best at performing. Seventeen has a funny af variety show, but their concerts have a part with their “aju nice” song repeating. (The aju nice seems so cult like lol) Stray kids have nice concerts too. The increased fan interactions with seventeen and stray kids concerts omg. Skz seem massively overworked rn tho. i feel like i started to do high that no group hits the same for me 😭 i used to listen to a fair bit of kpop but in the last like 2 years it kinda just fell off for me and other groups’ music is okay, i like the really fruity songs but that’s it 😭

if anything i think i’d get more into girl groups now, boy groups never give me the same feeling as bts

kpop groups are able to chart globally through physical album sales and a level of organised mass streaming that isn’t seen with non kpop acts. that’s not necessarily a problem but it has given kpop fans a false sense of how mainstream that kpop idol is

you pointed it out exactly, in most cases the album is no 1 for a week and then drops off. people are buying/streaming specifically to chart just so they can get the glory of it all. these days you can’t just stan an idol anymore, you have to be able to “prove” they’re “the best” through numbers and accolades, whereby also “proving” that other idols are shit in comparison. so it’s not really about the idols getting a no 1 and instead it has become a glorified dick measuring contest

if we’re totally honest with ourselves kpop still isn’t truly mainstream and like anon said it probably won’t be. the ONLY two acts that are anywhere close to that is blackpink and bts. ngl NJ probably do have the potential to be in the future but not right now. bts and blackpink are the only kpop acts that locals can name. they are the only kpop acts with matching sales and streams. they are the only kpop acts consistently selling out stadiums around the world. no one else is on their level and thats okay. even then you could argue that outside stan culture are they really that mainstream?

absolutely absolutely 🙃 i think there are certain western artists who do benefit from mass streaming / mass buying but they are mostly outliers in their industry, which is different from kpop where that’s a custom. also i think bcs kpop is such a fast-paced industry, fans care SO MUCH about first week numbers since cbs by now come and go quickly, and artists/companies also share the same mindset. and i 100% agree that chart battles are just dick measuring contests nowadays, especially when it comes to kpop on western charts - getting a no 1 on the first week means nothing if there’s no consistency bcs it means that the cb was hard-carried by fans and no onw in the gp was listening to it. ergo, it means nothing in terms of the popularity of the artist

also unsurprisingly i love kpop (!!) but i feel pretty confident in saying that as a genre it’s never going to cross over into the mainstream in the west for a number of reasons (particularly xenophobia). as u said, individual kpop acts can become mainstream like *** and bp, but even then it’s always a very complex situation bcs their popularity is not mainly carried by their music, so their “mainstream-ness” (lol) can be questioned in several ways. (respectfully) i don’t think nj will have similar journeys bcs i don’t think they have a standout factors outside of kpop, but these are my own 2 cents

Youtube is filled with BTS future spouse readings. Majority of those are false with hundreds of girls claiming themselves to be Mrs. Jeon and Mrs. Tae. Even there are videos of girls talking about their so called twin-flame journey with a BTS member. Its 100% fake but why are so many people feeling a connection with Tae and JK all of a sudden? Is there something special about these two out of all the BTS members (apart from their visual and sexual appeal) that these girls are ready to change their career just to morph themselves into someone that they are not. Even there are people (yt readers) who say stuff like Jimin having one night stand (its normal, he's an adult. He can do whatever he wants to do as long as its consensual). Even the same reader took the name of the girl jungkook is in a relationship rn. Aren't these people acting like spiritual sasaengs? There was this video too about jks chart reading and the person wrote that he will have the tendancy to be an abusive partner but then she contradicted it in the comments by saying that he will control it. The real question is why do some psychics cross the line with their readings. I get it they want to be transparent (for views and subs) but they are no less than sasaengs. I know my thoughts are all over the place but it bugs me to see people fighting over a guy who is not theirs. Majority of these girls are teens and I'm not even judging them (even i wanted to marry Niall when i was 14) but sometimes you need to be a little practical. Imagine leaving a beautiful career behind because you want to become an idol and go to S. Korea and then magically you'll meet a BTS member and somehow your group will be more famous then BP and BTS and then you'll marry your bias 😂. Like don't take readings seriously specially done by readers on yt who claim to connect to Mrs. Jeon everyday. Even the drama here is stirred up by the same girls when their personalities don't match up with the Mrs. Why spread hate when u can spread love. Love BTS for their art not for their face and bodies (but if only love them for their face then GETTTTT OUTTTTTTTTTTT)

Hello!! Thank you for sending this!! I feel like people are more concerned with Taehyung and Jungkook because those two fit the universal beauty standard. I feel as though a lot of the people who do like them are somewhat forcing their attraction, as they have the status of the two most popular members in bts. I feel like some people may still be chasing the idea of feeling popular and being loved by many, mostly because they were probably an outkast in school or by their family. I feel like Jungkook and Taehyung are the two members that are projected on the most because they are "more relatable" even though all of the members are relatable to a degree. I have a feeling that most people are attracted to Jungkook simply because of his age and the fact that he's the youngest member, so much so to the point that people forget that he's actually 23 and is a grown adult. I feel like people reduce him down to the "golden maknae" troupe to fit some sort of borderline ped0phill@c thing. I have seen people obsessing too much over him being younger. As for Taehyung, I feel like it has more so with the fact that he sets clear boundaries and he seems to be unattainable. As humans, attaining the unattainable is something that is innate that all people strive for one way or the other. I feel as though for Taehyung as well, it might be how he carries himself, he knows that he is handsome and has a fuckboy air to him even though that's not how he's like it is represented by the way he acts mostly. I feel like for the most part when people obsessed over connections with these people it's purely as escapism. They rather live their life thinking that they will be married to this random idol and bend their life around it rather than living their life as a separate person. Come to think of it, I don't think these people even consider what the idol wants nor what they're okay with. I wouldn't feel comfortable with someone changing their entire life to fit mine, or changing their entire being to fit what I want. I don't think many of these idols would want someone that is more concerned with fitting into what the idol wants rather than what that person wants. In my opinion it makes the person seem kind of brainless, how can someone not have any other goal except for being with someone who probably won't know you. Even in today's society, you are meant to live separate of your partner, you can't build your whole life around them because then they'll slowly become the only thing you have and the only piece of your identity, if they were to leave what would you have left? I feel like a lot of people put too much emphasis on romantic love and sexual relationships they often overlook everything else life has to offer. Bts and other idols are grown people, they are adults, they have their own lives and so does everyone else on the planet. No one else should be trying to govern what is right for them or not, no one else should be trying to interfere with their love lives, let them live as the universe intend, as an adult capable of making their own decisions.

That Jongdae didn't want to have a child at this young age and in the beginning of his Solo career! But once it happened he was so accepting and so understanding! He married his GF becoz he loved her and accepted her pregnancy with open arms even though that brought him so much hate! This subject of members being jelaous of her bothered her and at a certain period caused their dinamics to go down in the band. I watched their bts – bst dance and thought they were a dance crew. then a while later, I watched their bp – playing with fire cover not knowing it was the same people;; when I saw some comments saying that they’d debut soon, I connected the dots and started looking forward to their debut! I’d only really consider myself a choice since callin’ era though, that’s when I got to know the members more

3. What is your favourite part of being a CHOICE?

My fellow choices? They’re so welcoming and chill!

4. What is your favourite A.C.E song? Do you prefer their title tracks or b-sides more?

Choosing a favourite song is really hard… callin’ is the queen of A.C.E songs but every time savage comes up in my playlist I go ‘woah I forgot how hard this goes’ algjkejar I mostly listen to title tracks in general, but A.C.E has some great b-sides for sure! my faves would probably be mr. bass and so sick.

5. Who’s your bias? What do you like about them?

Humble, hardworking, skilled. Even with all odds stacked against them, they never gave/give up. That surely makes them shine!

I guess the most concept-y release has been favourite boys, so that’s what I choose! From teasers to mv aesthetics, it was just perfect through and through. I’m very happy with the direction they’re going and can’t really think of a specific concept I’d want~ Like mythology? planets? sirens? what else can I ask for

Their collective friendship and the internal friendships are all really soft, so I can’t choose:( But I’d love to see more of Byeongkwan+Donghun because we see them together the least and DH has literally been like ‘idk what to do with this dude’ alglejtgfv

I do! I think it’s very interesting and I’ve studied it since middle school, but I think it’s moreso for analysis than prediction, since it’s kind of up to interpretation. I think it’s interesting to see the multiple Interlapping parts (planets, signs, houses, aspects) because they all interact and contradict to explain ~yourself~ but yeah it shouldn’t be used for excuses or reasons to not try/be a certain way.

ten ; if you could have only one sense (hearing, touch, sight, etc.), which would you keep?

I want to say sight? I really appreciate pretty things in nature or people or art, but I feel like being unable to hear someone speak/music or touch someone’s hand/move would be so so frustrating...so either sight or touch ig.

Ahhh that’s so hard! I don’t know if I have just one, hmm. I pulled off a really clutch victory as Dwight recently vs a Freddy where I saved al three of my teammates at least once & got a full team escape plus did a clutch last second BT rescue with NOED up that felt real good. Back when I was trying to get Evil Incarnate as Michael, I had one match where I only hit tier three right as gates went up, so they didn’t know I had mori add-on, and this one dude was tbagging me and so I snatched him through the barrier and killed him and he just sent me “...I did not enjoy that” & we had a really funny conversation after, and I remember it fondly.

Probably though, my most fondly remembered are these 3. I’ve talked about this first one on Tumblr before, but right when I first started DbD back like 2 something years ago, I had just started writing my fic & I played a match where there was a bunch of Claudette’s & one was really cute & I was in a loving mood and exclusively played Wraith as killer back then, so I decided to just be friendly and followed the nice Claudette around the whole time as a friend, and they were a Latin American player with English as a second language (before dedicated, there was a certain time of night where if I played killer I almost exclusively got Latin American players & I loved it bc they were way less toxic than the Americans lol). We were both baby players at the time, and she messaged me a really sweet note that I had been cute and she hoped we’d meet again someday. I’ve never memorized someone’s username before for any reason, or since, but she was so sweet I did, just in case something miraculously happened someday. Then, almost a year later to the day, I got her in a lobby again. I flipped out I couldn’t believe it. I swapped to Wraith as fast as I could and played hard/normal & did well, but whenever I saw her—now a Quentin main (ofc she was—they’re such sweet people)—I walked away. (I also didn’t kill any of the others, bc if you’re going to spare a survivor it’s only fair to spare all four, but I did down them & hook twice each. After, I just re-downed them in chases but wouldn’t hook). She figured it out after I followed her but didn’t ever attack a few times, and started running over to body shield her friends every time I downed one & it was adorable. Finally, they lit all 5 and left, her last, and I was watching her go when I saw the hatch in the house in Rin’s map so I called her over to try to get her to take it, but she wouldn’t, and she got killed by endgame collapse & I was horrified & messaged her to tell her who I was and she still remembered me!! It was so cute & I was really happy. I promised if I see her again in a year, I’ll make sure the Entity doesn’t get her this time. TuT it was kinda miracle the stars aligned like that for me & I really hope they do again. It meant a lot.

Other favorites hmm. One game I loaded in as Wraith, and saw a four stack of Pizza Dwight’s & was like “Hmmmmmm”. I couldn’t not play them, but I used my best addons & burned a mori as a safeguard just in case they were super toxic bc I’d gotten two nasty four stacks earlier and just wanted a chill good time (it was a bluff lol. I’ve never morid someone as Philip and do not ever plan to). So I load in, addon that shows me gen progress while cloaked, and I circuit the whole autohaven map. Nothing. It is silent as the grave. I see no one, I hear no one, no gen is even SNEEZED on. This goes on for a full irl 2 minutes of game time. I am at such a loss. Completely and utterly confused. Where are they? Why? What is happening?? It has never happened to me before. It occurs to me then I haven’t checked the Basement. Nothing to lose, I go there, and I catch a Dwight opening a chest. I uncloak and he freezes, terrified, and looks at me. Walks nervously in a circle. I stare at him. Then I look at the stairs, at him, nod, and move aside & let him walk. It sucks to be caught basement at start. He cautiously walks past me & then happily goes his merry way. I spend the next fifteen minutes giving these nice pizza boys hell. Run them ragged, down, hook, rinse repeat, across the map fast, start slugging after second hook, my basement pizza boy sees me when I find him on a gen early on and runs up excited to see me, but I recognize him too late bc they all look exactly the same, and hit him and break my own heart. Nonetheless, game is great. I push them hard and they work hard, save each other, run wild. V cute. Eventually, I quit slugging bc they run out of blood and just let them do stuff, show them totems, etc. they’ve earned it they worked hard as hell & I love them all. After they light the last gen, they form a weird crouching train of Dwights and follow me around and it’s crazy but I love it. Finally they go their merry way. Basement boy messages me “Marry me” and I send him My Heart Will Go On as consolation bc I know the Entity would never allow it & I want him to be safe.

There are others for sure too! One time a Laurie figured out I was playing hard but wasn’t about to kill her-kill her as Michael, and started bullying me when I’d down and lift other survivors, then messaged me, “Thanks Bro” after and gave me life. As survivor, I’ve had so many clutch games we pulled off insane last second wins I can’t possibly pick one fave. Did have a great match once where a rank 1 Rin mowed down my whole team & one DC’d & I was last man standing as Quentin, so instead of killing me, she ordered me around for a while and made me do stuff like get dragged out of lockers and do a gen. She killed me after a bit & I messaged her “Somedy I’ll win you over, Rin!” And the dude messaged back “I don’t speak weeb sorry” bc he was expecting hate & didn’t know her first name & thought it was some weird reference 😂 but I was like “W-which part? Her name? Does it echo a quote from something? Uh. ‘Somedy I will befriend you, The Spirit’ : )” and he was like “Oh. Ok.” And immediately loosened up & I had a nice convo w him & he said the Spirit agreed w him id deserved some BP for playing hard even when my team abounded me & it was sweet.

1.      BTS vocal line is fantastic and versatile 

I’m not gonna claim to be a musical expert here, but all four of the boys in the vocal line are so talented. everyone hypes rap line (and they deserve it too) but I rarely see stuff about how amazing vocal line is, and they’re so versatile (examples = Jin in Awake and Dionysus, Jimin in Lie and Serendipity, Taehyung in Stigma and DNA, and Jungkook in Boy In Luv and Begin). also, to those who say BTS can’t sing well live, here are some videos to prove that wrong

 2.      Twice’s cute concept suits them and that’s it

before I got into Kpop, I used to just see at as cringy bubblegum pop and never saw myself liking that. and then I heard Twice’s Fancy. that shit slaps and I won’t hear anything else. the girls pull off the cute concept so well, and the outfits and mv visuals are amazing like Twice is owning it. I’m not really a Twice fan but I’ve listened to some of their other title tracks and I think they’re really good, like Twice do the cute concept really well. also, Mina, Sana, Nayeon and Jihyo’s vocals during the bridge give me chills, they sound amazing)

 3.      if idols can’t sing/rap/perform well live, they shouldn’t be idols

I’m not aiming this at anyone in particular, so don’t get mad and start defending your faves in the comments, but the whole kpop culture is live performances. idols do live performances all the time, much more often than western artists, and so it is so important that they can perform live well. this includes vocal stability, volume, strength, breath control, everything.

 4.      stop putting female artists in dresses/skirts so short that we can see their shorts underneath

performing live to an audience is hard; I know, I’m a dancer, and I’ve done it (not to audiences as big as ones of k-pop artists obviously, but the point still stands). when you’re onstage, you want more than anything to feel comfortable so you can give a performance to the best of your ability and feel proud of yourself afterwards. I’m sorry, but I find it hard to believe that these female idols feel comfortable dancing in clothes that are so short and so tight. they can barely move properly, which limits the effort they can put into the choreography, making them seem lazy. I’m not saying this because I disagree with sKiMpY cLoTHiNg but I just think it’s ridiculous and must be uncomfortable for the female idols. it also limits the complexity of their choreographies, which is when you get shitty, boring and unentertaining choreographies, in comparison to some boy group choreographies. I’m sorry, but if I was following certain boy groups performances at an award show with a simple choreography like ddu-du ddu-du (no shade, I love it, it’s just simple), I’d be a little bit embarrassed lol

 5.      Blackpink have so much potential and YG just doesn’t use it

I don’t even know where to start. there isn’t a single blackpink song out there that I don’t like; their vocals and rap are good, choreography and visuals are good, everything is good. but they could be so much better. first of all, Rosé’s voice is so beautiful and unique and I don’t know why they make her sing in that stupid voice. it’s going to start damaging her voice soon enough and I don’t know why they do it. second, Jisoo’s voice is so amazing and she always has the least lines. I just think her voice is beautiful but she’s so underused in their songs. third, Lisa is such a good dancer, but the Blackpink choreographies don’t do her justice. they need to give her little solo bits in the choreos or something because her talent is just going to waste.

 6.      Blackpink are overhyped

controversial, and before y’all start, I love Blackpink like tattoo blonde Jennie in the KTL teaser on my forehead please, but it needs to be said; Blackpink don’t deserve the hype they get. this point links in with the point above because omg they literally have like 15 songs, and they’ve been around for like 3 years. they haven’t even released a full album like damn YG be clowning us, stanning a group that’s never released an album. I’m sorry, but they get so much hype, when there are other groups out there, that are so much more versatile, their choreographies are better, their songs are better, they’re just better in general. I’m not blaming the bp girls for this because we all know it’s YG’s fault. if maybe they had the chance, with better choreographies, better songs, better everything, then they would be deserving of the hype they get

 7.      STOP SENDING HATE TO BLACKPINK WHEN IT’S NOT THEIR FAULT, IT’S YG THEY’RE THE MOST HATED ON GIRL GROUP AND THEY DON’T DESERVE IT LEAVE THEM ALONE

8.      NCT 127 line distribution is a joke and I don’t know why it hasn’t been spoken about more

the fact that in Regular, Taeyong and Mark both have more than 30 seconds each, and Winwin doesn’t even have a full 5 seconds is ridiculous. in Cherry Bomb, Taeyong and Mark both have more than 40 seconds and Johnny has less than 9. SM need to distribute lines between them more effectively, or cut down the members in the group (and one of them is a much better choice than the other). they’re all talented but SM only seems to recognise Taeyong and Mark and idk why tbh.

 9.      being told to stan someone will make me want to stan them even less

no shade at the group themselves, but all I see on twitter is Loona stans saying to stan Loona (it’s not just Loona but that’s the one that comes to mind). you telling me to stan them doesn’t make me want to stan them. I’m sure they’re super talented and nice people, but I now have no desire to find that out for myself.

 10.   ARMY are constantly being shit on for being a nEgATiVe fAnBaSe when the majority of ARMY are amazing, generous and kind people

obviously, every fanbase has toxic fans, that goes without saying, but for some reason, ARMY has a reputation amongst the kpop community for being toxic and negative, and I just don’t see it. every time someone who doesn’t know about BTS tweets about them, all the replies are ARMYs gently and kindly educating them, giving them links and pictures so they can learn more. they’ve donated so much money to charity and done so many charitable things under the boys names, and the ARMY community is just full of amazing wonderful people. stop shitting on us for no reason, y’all just hate us because your faves probably like them too lol

 11.   you can’t call yourself a stan of a group if you don’t like all the members

in my opinion, I don’t see how someone could call themselves an ARMY if they don’t like all of BTS, a Once if you don’t like all of Twice, a blink if you don’t like all of Blackpink, an EXO-L if you don’t like all of EXO, a NCTzen if you don’t like all of NCT, etc. imagine the members’ reactions, like I just don’t think you can be a stan if you don’t like all of them members.

 12.   FANCY IS A BOP I KNOW I’VE ALREADY SAID IT BUT I DON’T CARE, I WILL LISTEN TO IT ON REPEAT FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE, LIKE I’LL PLAY THAT BITCH AT MY WEDDING LMAO

 13.   please stop putting people into groups just for their looks

like I’m sorry but how can you put someone who can’t sing/dance/rap into a kpop group, make it make sense. by doing that, it also teaches people that you can get far based on your looks and your looks only (and don’t start bringing models into this because y’all know damn well it’s not the same thing). I get the idea of a visual, sure, but if they can’t sing or rap as well, what’s the point?

fanwars, solo stans, streaming wars, ‘maybe they should’ve stanned ___’, etc. are just some of the things that back this statement up. not just the culture with stans, but also the companies and idol lifestyle is really bad, overworking idols is one thing that bothers me, but mainly the whole weight thing. the fact that trainees literally starve themselves to fit the companies’ standards is so wrong and disgusting on so many levels. people don’t have to be stick thin to be successful like I don’t understand. it’s so unhealthy, it puts lives in danger, and it also encourages fatphobia.

Your post about “dalla dalla” is exactly what I was thinking - the lyrics rubbed me the wrong way bc it really sounds like “I’m better than other girls bc I’m not like them” and I feel like due to the age of itzy members it comes of like this “teenage angst” of trying to oh so unique and hating on the mainstream (I know it’s not the members fault but still)

I agree! like honestly the life of a teen idol is really fucking hard, I feel like its more a comment on JYP as a whole too- like they’re trying too hard to be special and unique that they kind of headed backward. 

Just to be clear- I dont judge idol groups when they have no input on their music, the members of itzy are so young. Like I may not like the message of their music but they probably have very little say in the songs they perform? They’re not writing them, someone at JYP is and that's very telling that someone wrote this song for them and they didn't write it themselves when they’re saying things about themselves you know? that was probably v poorly explained. 

I feel like the big 3 entertainment companies put so much effort and hype into their new groups and forget about them the second after they stop being the new group on the block. Like got7 has been around for x number of years and yet- JYP puts very little effort into them when they’ve shown they can get a return in the past. I know their kind of clambering to find a replacement for twice and a real compeditor for BP but still- do it in a way that doesn't undercut the younger generations. 

the message of loving yourself can be pervasive, but not if it hinges on subjugating others like “i’m better than other girls.” ironically- this is one of the reasons why I support bts' movement so much - because in no way, shape, or form is their movement about shaming others into being less than them in order to elevate their status. (you could make an argument that this is opposed by mic drop- but i feel like “You say I'm not successful, but did you see my bag?”

if jimin is in another company atleast on release dates and internal things he won't get sabatoges, what we need is no sabatoge which is already a luxurious thing to ask for. jimin has fan power and some qualities to attracts gps without push, which is a threat and hybe knows. I don't believe they won't fuck up upcoming project. we know jimin knows everything but does he know how low hybe gets upto!? his love for bts is admirable and one of the reason many pjms stick with him so i will never question his priority of pushing bts before himself. Hypothetically, going the route bp did would the most beneficial option, because he could still be under hybe with bts, not have to worry about being trapped into a contract by any of those other labels for his solo career and he’d be in complete control without sabotage and the internal conflict like you said. Tbh, I never knew how seemingly easy (it still most likely isn’t) it was to open your own label as an idol though. Granted I feel like the ones who have, probably have accessibility to do it more freely but who knows if the idea of starting his own label has even crossed jimin’s mind.

But as long as hybe wants jk at the forefront, is aligned with scooter and jimin’s stays on the path of success he’s at, they’re gonna try and suppress him in some way. Even now there was an article that was put out (by the usual suspect) on Forbes undermining jimin and CTT not debuting on hot100 while completely ignoring the circumstances and highlighting jk in the same breath. It’s become second nature to that camp at this point it’s be so long since it was actually shocking to me. For Jimin himself though, I doubt he knows the ins and outs of exactly how hybe is fucking him over. The main people who are hyper vigilant of that would be us.

If jimin puts out another album or single that’s as successful as face and like crazy though? Or if the FACE vinyl gets manages to get that #1 on BB200 week after next, hybe is definitely gonna mobilize again. Cause that’ll be the third strike of jimin snatching what they had planned for JK and I know they’re trying to avoid that at any cost. And since JK is in MS the company is definitely gonna have to work hard to keep the narrative in his favor.

I know when he gets out of MS the emphasis will be put back on BTS primarily, but I don’t think jimin’s gonna completely pack his solo work away. Him (seemingly) working on two albums congruently doesn’t seem like someone who will de-center that. Cause jimin is definitely coming into his solo career and he’s looks to be enjoying navigating it creative wise. So hopefully when he doesn’t have enlistment looming over his head he’ll be able to fully settle into that part of his career more.

What Bangtan is doing right now is what older groups like Sistar, Shinee, Super Junior, BigBang, 2NE1, Wonder Girls, 2PM, Beast (Highlight), and SNSD were doing in the past. I discovered kpop back in 2011 with GG’s Oh. They pecked my interest and made me want to check out other groups. That’s how I ended becoming a huge fan of BigBang and UKiss who used to be my favourite groups. I loved them a lot, and they greatly influenced my decision of following a page on Facebook that promoted groups that were about to debut. It’s greatly because of them that I discovered Bangtan on the day Taehyung was revealed to be the hidden member. It’s because of them that I listened to No More Dream on June 11, 2013 when the MV was released on YouTube.

What happened to me probably happened to many other people. I’m sure that many fans discovered new groups this year because their love for BTS made them want to look at what’s happening in kpop. I’m also aware of the fact that other groups are doing what Bangtan is doing.

People might have gotten interested in the genre because of others groups like Exo, Blackpink, Red Velvet, Monsta X, Twice, Seventeen, Got7, or iKon. It could have also been because of underrated and underappreciated groups like Vixx, B.A.P, Infinite, Pentagon, NU'EST, A-Pink, or BTOB. It is also true that many ARMYs only stan BTS; however, they have the right to. It’s their choice. Despite that, we can’t disagree on the fact that BTS peaked a lot of people’s interest. Thus, they played a role in helping popularize kpop worldwide.

Many people are mad because it’s BTS that is on top and not their favourite group, but they forget that the boys deserve this as much as their bias do. They struggled too, you know. It’s not because some might have or had it harder than them that it means their pain means nothing. It’s important to remember that it’s not true that your struggles are irrelevant because someone has it worst than you do. The kpop industry is very hard, and although all groups deserve to break through, it won’t happen to a lot of them.

Also, it’s not because they’re at the top that it means they should go down. Let’s be honest here. BigBang was at the top back then, and they still are. Did you guys forget Bang Bang Bang? It had been quite a few years since they had made a comeback. When that song dropped, it was so popular. There’s nothing wrong with Bangtan staying at the top. What is wrong though is trying to bring them down.

I can’t believe that people are willing to be racist just to ruin a group. Some people actually think it’s a good idea to hack ARMYs’ account in order to insult black people. That is such a disgusting thing to do. These people are also being disrespectful. Many of them are streaming Blackpink’s songs not because they love them but because they hate Bangtan. Rosé, Jisoo, Jennie, and Lisa are four talented and amazing women that deserve recognization. They deserve to have fans that love them for who they are. However, some fandoms think it’s okay to use them in order to ensure that BTS won’t be number one. Music isn’t a competition. I know Bangtan can’t always be first. Nonetheless, that doesn’t mean it’s okay for people to disrespect BP like that. The members should have fans that want them to be at the top because they love what they’re doing. I’m not saying, “Don’t stream BP’s MV” or that their records don’t mean anything. What I’m saying is that they deserve to have followers that see them for who they are. They shouldn’t have to deal with people that see them as a mere mean to an end because of their hate for Bangtan.

What’s up, my dudes? It’s Lay! 

Long story short, I don’t have an easy way to navigate my blog for both my followers (and others) and myself. So, I decided to make a master post! This will have everything from things about me to my wips. 

(I’ll make sure to update this regularly. Hopefully...)

While this blog is mainly for me to gush about my wips and all of my crazy ideas, I also want to allow my followers to get to know me. (Tell me about you guys too!) My personal stuff is all tagged with #silverslife

Just to get things started, my name is Lay Silver. (Though, it’s not my real name, just a pen name. You can call me Lay!) My pronouns are she/her (I’m cis). I’m an ‘01 liner (born on Dec. 4th, the same day as Mr. Worldwide Handsome Kim Seokjin of BTS.) I have just finished my junior year of high school (11th grade) and I’ll be a senior stressing over college apps in the fall oof. When I graduate from high school, I plan on going to university and majoring in creative writing. (I may also double major in Asian studies or something like that because my grandmother is Japanese and I find Asian cultures (more specifically East Asian) fascinating. 

I started my writing journey in 6th grade when I had just finished reading The House of Hades by Rick Riordan. So, I started to write fanfictions. (I’m going to make a post about my writing journey, then I’ll link it here once it’s posted.)

Rick Riordan’s books will always be my favorite series’. Since the I have become a part of many fandoms. From books to anime to bands. (I would say I’m a pretty hardcore kpop fan at the moment. I’ve also been getting back into anime and reading books after my like two year slump. I blame school.)

My kpop fandoms are ARMY, Blink, Stay, I’m also in TXT’s fandom. BTS is my ult group. My biases are Jungkook (BTS), Jennie (BP), Hyunjin (SKZ), and Yeonjun (TXT).

My sexual orientation is on the asexual spectrum (I’m pretty sure I’m demisexual, but gray-asexual works too, I think. So, I’ll just say I’m ace-spec.) I’m still trying to figure out my romantic orientation. I know I definitely like guys, however, I’m not sure if my attraction to girls is purely aesthetic or if I would actually date them. So, I guess for my romantic attraction I would say I’m questioning? IDK, I’ll figure it out some time.

The Seventh Study is technically my main WIP. It’s the project that I have the most written on, at least. Though, I’m planning on putting it to the side for a bit for another wip since publishing a series as your debut novels isn’t the best idea financially. 

Anyway, TSS will be a trilogy. It’s a new adult dystopian novel following my main character Avalon. As well as having POV chapters from my characters Carla, Mare, and Jaemin!

WIP Introduction

Okay, so, I don’t talk about TLF very often. I’m still working on the wip intro too since I have absolutely no idea where the plot will go. All I have down is that it’s based off of the Lost City of Atlantis and the story takes place mostly in Florida, but also the Bermuda Triangle. There’s the Greek gods, demigods, Atlanteans, some eclectic witches, etc... The main character is going to be bisexual and I think the story might be an LGBTQ+ novel, but I haven’t worked out all the details quite yet.

A Crown of Aces follows an aro-ace (aromantic-asexual) main character. She is a princess and her father, the king, has been assassinated. Now she must become the queen of the kingdom. Only one problem: her father’s advisors are pushing her to have a husband because they don’t think that this insolent girl is capable of ruling the kingdom at eighteen years of age alone. She plans to prove them wrong all while hiring the help of the infamous band of assassins that lurks in the alleyways of the kingdom to find her father’s killer. The assassin she hires is named Altaeus whom soon falls in love with the new queen. He soon realizes that she isn’t looking for romantic love nor a partner. But the two do stay friends. MC wants to make her kingdom a better place for the people living there and with Altaeus’s help as well as friends she makes a long the way, she just may be able to improve the lives of the people in her kingdom.

That’s all I got so far. Since I identify on the asexual spectrum, I thought it would be cool to have an ace oc. I’m not aromantic, though.

So, LoF is somewhat based off of the anime Sword Art Online. Basically, the main characters. Jennie and Luke, get trapped in their favorite game and the only way to get out is to complete all the quests and beat the game. If they die in the game they don’t die in the real world, though. LoF in the story is an massively multiplayer online role playing game (mmorpg). I’m thinking that the reason they’re in the game is because of a really intense dream one of them has.

I’m still doing a log of world building for this wip since there’s a lot of stuff that has to go into it like mobs, bosses, quest arcs, cast, what roles there are in the game, etc...

Finally for my new wip! Final Legacy is similar to LoF in a way. Final Legacy is a full-dive VRMMORPG in the story. It is a dystopian, sci-fi novel (and I suppose fantasy is some aspects). There’s also a lot of world building I still have to do for this wip as well. I need to come up with mobs, bosses, quest arcs, game races like fairy, elf, human, etc..., I also have to come up with the different worlds featured in Final Legacy. This is probably going to be a very in depth novel.

KPOP SONGS! Part 2/?

So I thought I’d make a list of the songs in my „kpop“ playlist and write a little about them because I’m bored. These are supposed to be chronological, but after looking at the list I’m not so sure about it also because I love to buy music in bulks.

ZUTTER - GD & T.O.P:

 This song is a little scary tbh, apart from the badass vibes

I always loved T.O.P’s deep ass voice and with GD’s high pitched rap it’s just perfect

The MV is funny, creepy and a bit fucked up but what did we expect honestly :D

They rhyme aLOT in this song which makes it really interesting to listen to

made me addicted to the GD & T.O.P combination

THE BADDEST FEMALE - CL:

 It took me a while to understand that this isn’t a solo version of „I’m the best“

It’s the queen saying she’s a bad bitch so you know it’s a banger

As almost all CL songs this is good to let off steam and regain your badass level after someone pissed you off

The MV is a sexual awakening on it’s own and performances of that song are also definitely worth a watch

Burning Up (Fire) - BTS:

 So I don’t really listen a lot to it but I still like it

Has all kinds of badass vibes and I like the soft breaks in-between

RM’s part is by far my favourite his deep voice is so satisfying

The MV is also really cool

You can see from previous songs I had a badass song phase (I still have this phase, I love badass songs) where I only took badass kpop songs seriously

Growl - EXO: 

Okay, so I sometimes forget about this song haha

A good song that screams SM to be honest which I always thought was not that much the case with other EXO songs

The dance to this is really satisfying to watch and was probably the reason I bought this song

It shows EXO’s excellent vocals, has a nice feel and is easy to listen to 

Quite an early song too

I love that you could potentially dance really hard to this but still is very soft

Instantly recognisable and also a kpop classic I would say

GOOD BOY - GD & Taeyang: 

 Is this a kink? This is a kink right?

An awesome song i have bopped to a million times

I really love the „pretty/good boy“ trope and who is better for that then our bad boys™️ GD and Taeyang?

Their voices sound a bit alike and I sometimes had trouble differencing them….whoops

The dance is so so good and the MV is such an accurate representation of these two freaks

God I just love them and miss them so much

Welcome to another round of Aki isn’t capable of differencing Japanese and Korean lol

I must say I prefer this version though, I recently bought the korean version and it’s just not the same I got so used to the english parts lol 

This is also a classic, bow to the queens of badass girl group songs!

The MV made me fall in love with CL and the gang

„It’s 2 in the morning our bodies getting freaky, the beats bumping loud but this boy keeps talking! I can’t really hear him but I think he’s saying he loves me? Put his number on this paper but i throw it like frisbee, huh?“

I C O N I C this song raised me, fed me, dressed me and gave me the kick in the butt I needed.

BOOMBAYAH - BLACKPINK:

 Why of course after discovering 2ne1 BP wasn’t far behind

Recently showed this MV to a non kpop friend of mine and she drooled over all of them soooo, you can do that

Loved this song the second it started and love dancing violently to it

I now, btw, also own the whole album but it took me a bit to get into them (I was in girl group denial, don’t be like me show them girls some love!)

OPPA!

Being only four really makes it possible for all of them to shine, the vocals are clean and pretty but raspy enough to fit the concept and Jennie and Lisas raps are perfect as always

The beat is easy as is the whole song, doesn’t get annoying and is just a bop.  

Fantastic Baby - BIGBANG:

Nananananananana wow, fantastic baby!

Well well well if it isn’t history right there

Watch the MV, listen to the song! It’s mandatory to know this I’m sorry I don’t make the rules

Danceable, walkable just all in all go crazy(-able)

Boomshakalaka! 

A bit poppy so maybe not for everyone as it sounds a lot like stuff that is randomly on the radio

A dance song that probably was never intended to be more than that. Typically YG, a bit flatter than Bang Bang Bang

I’m repeating myself but you know I heard it’s also something non kpop people enjoy (Basically show them all of BIGBANG, lol)

Ice cream cake - Red Velvet:

Oh boy! My first Red Velvet song that I have because the refrain was stuck in my head and I wanted to know what it was

There’s way more RV later on but for now I think it was the only song

As I said I was in denial of girl groups that didn’t have a badass concept which was soooo dumb!

I love the song, it’s cute and easy to listen to

I love RV’s kinda cute-creepy concept and with the music box in the background it feeds into my liking very easily

I have moved on from it though after discovering other songs from them so I don’t listen to it as often

„I scream, you scream, gimme that, gimme that ice cream!“

Sherlock (Clue + Note) - SHINee:

I have known this song for years! Back when my best friend was into kpop and told me all about SHINee I looked into it, Youtube gave me this song and I instantly clicked. Didn’t like it clicked away and didn’t touch it for 5 years

Well now I love it and can’t stop dancing when it’s on

The MV is confusing but god they’re all so cute in it! Taemin looks so adorable with long hair!

I have watched the dance practice about 100x times and you should too! (jk)

„Tonight, SHINee’s in da house! So give it up for SHINee!“

And as much as I love SHINee’s vocal squad and they’re great in this, Key and Minho really do it for me in this song

The song lives from the dance and the performance and makes it 10x better

It’s also good for just listening though but not really calm and casual so be prepared to break out into sudden song

„Oh I’m curious, yeah!“ (Is it noticeable that I’m listening to it while I write? probably not.)

Breaking News - SHINee:

 And my struggle with japanese songs continues haha

„Come on break down the walls!“

I really like this song though, especially the refrain it’s so much fun

It’s also really danceable (as I think every SHINee song is, I mean have you seen them dance?)

Partly really dramatic (slay Onew slay), partly badass rapping

I mean it’s SHINee it’s fun bright and has a dance rhythm what more could you possibly want?

Ring Ding Dong - SHINee:

 Yeah, i doubt you don’t know this one

Coincidently the first kpop MV I watched after deciding to dive deeper down the rabbit hole and well would you know it…now we’re here

It’s the one about the broken doorbell! Break it down!

This song and dance is Legendary!

Also a fun song that isn’t to be taken too seriously

The MV is kinda dramatic for this song lol

Good to listen to, has a nice beat and melody

There are these songs that every idol can dance to, this is one of them (In the list of “songs every idol can dance to” you’d find a LOT of SHINee btw)

SHAKE THAT BRASS - AMBER (feat. Taeyon):

Amber…oh Amber. I love her really a whole lot and as I saw the MV I just had to have this song!

It’s a super fun and dancey song with (as the title suggests) a brassy sound

Much like Woof Woof I really enjoy this song bc of the MV, 

Amber is rapping and being the goofball she is ;)

BUT! As much as I like that song and think she deserves all the solo stuff she can get I like her new stuff more because it’s more „hers“. I really enjoy her singing as well.

And confession of the month: I don’t like f(x)’s sound so I’m happy she does solo stuff

She’s such an inspiration with her unique style and attitude (sighs in very gay)

 Lucifer - SHINee:

 I LOVE this song! OMG!

The MV is kinda uneventful but the DANCE PRACTICE!

Oh boy! Well first off Lee Taemin is very distracting in it but you have to see the dance to believe it! That’s what they perform with! On a regular basis!

The sound is very electric and theres a quiet electric melody running through the whole of it that kinda sounds like some alarm clocks lol

Edgy™️

You should absolutely watch performances! Jonghyuns high note is not portrayed well in the recorded version, boy has breath forever!

Apart from the vocals slaying absolutely every note the rap parts can’t be discarded by any means

It all just fits so perfectly

Oh and of course for a song of it’s time it’s just a little bit...nonsensical (especially the english parts lol: Loverholic, robotronic. what?)

Hero - MONSTA X:

 I’m thinking of a helicopter landing platform, pulled up shirts and a scared Wonho 

The dance to this song is…well do yourself a favour if you like abs and boys

Apart from the drool worthy performance, the song is super cool! Kinda chill, but still powerful and damn rapline went off!

This song really made them known more and it’s for a good reason

The sound in this is what is „typically“ MX for long time (Till up until Jealousy I’d say)

„I can be your hero, I can be your man!“

Sometimes a bit repetitive but what song isn’t lol?

Also still is in the „we all dress awful and don’t know what to do with our hands“ phase but that passes soon

Lead to many wonderful reality shows that makes it easy for new fans to get to know them better (Their group dynamic never changes they all just mature a bit it’s really nice to see.)

Also yes, Jooheon is kinda scary in this but I swear he a cutie

This is like trying to criticize FMAB eorwiajsdfk they’re so good

hmm controversial but I actually wish they would lay off Japan so much. I know SM was pushing them in Japan pretty hard in TVXQ’s stead (they have to do the military rotation thing) but sigh I just can’t get into their Japanese releases as much as their Korean ones

Shinee probably… should have won over EXO in 2013 MAMA. You know the award. it’s funny because I wasn’t an EXO L during 2013 MAMA and was really gunning for SHINee or GD to win album of the year and I felt offended that EXO got it instead (LOL) but honestly comparing the album Misconceptions of Us to XOXO, SHINee probably deserved that more.

More controversial: SHINee don’t get the awards they deserve most of the time (remember how 2013 melon music awards were such a big deal?!) because they simply aren’t ~as popular~ as other groups. Like yes SHINee are popular. Yes f(x) are popular. Are they ~as~ popular as (insert mega group here)? No. and just like in the U.S., award shows are big popularity contests. SHINee are not as popular as BigBang, TVXQ, EXO, BTS, SNSD, SJ, Twice… sigh (this is also a problem for groups like 17 and B.A.P and Monsta x btw !!!)

I will say something unpopular about shawols. They (We) are adamant about and overprotective of SHINee to a serious fault. I remember the ~outrage~ over EXO getting concerts in Japan when it took ~so much longer~ for SHINee to get them. As if the pace of the industry hadn’t sped up considerably…. it’s clear now that that’s the case, as iKon and BP and Twice were trying to splash in Japan within a year or two of their debut. But yeah the nasty things said about EXO and how they didn’t deserve it and blah blah blah was really annoying to read and just came off as spoiled milk. Also, remember how shawols hated EXOL for like 3 solid years? That was …. yeah. SHINee and EXO love each other and are in the same company, there is no need ! for shawols and exols to hate each other. But I think the hatred was caused by some vocal minorities and some loud mouths more than anything.

Oh! I have more to say about Shinee. Onew should have had a solo album by now, and he should definitely get one before he enl*sts. idk what’s going on in SM … well I know the scandal and police issue probably threw that all off but before that, I think he should have had one. Oh well. 

I am glad the people are letting Minho out of the flaming charisma, he-is-THE-visual-in-SHINee-and-that’s-it box that fans and the public shoved him in SHINee’s early years (early my ass tbh though, more like it persisted through 2013 so a solid 5 years of that… at least). There’s so much to appreciate in that man and so many talents ! Stop putting these idols in boxes ;u;

we all know Key has his effeminate tendencies / comes across as effeminate. The whole emasculating thing that fans do though …. no . that needs to Stop.
