Been working on some first run Chou sprites for funsies, here’s a handful of the ones I’ve done so far

What if we were both magic prodigies and it otherized us in different ways and we devoted ourselves to protecting a family member who has general other goals & priorities. What if we both did self-sacrifical devotion in opposite ways.

What if we were dark mirrors of each other and where I've grown overcontrolling you've grown complacent. What if, bought as a servant into a pretty loving home, ownership and control is what love looks like to me, and to you neglected and lonely growing up, love is gratefully taking any scraps of it you’re lent.

By belonging to someone, even if she comes back injured or fails at finding Delgal, she feels like she belongs and is cherished, by owning someone he feels safe in them not leaving him.

She’s what’s tethering him do you see… And he’s the only thing giving her direction and purpose in her state. She needs a compass and he needs a support.

They’re both so out of it 😭 It’s the weirdly intense and unearned mutual trust and reliance on each other?? They’re each other’s weird little comfort codependent teddy bear. Or at least they were headed towards that before SHE DIED THEN HE DIED THEN THEY BOTH FORGOT ABOUT EACH OTHER AND NEVER MET EVER AGAIN. Though she’s also the guard attack hound keeping him safe… And vice versa he heals her and can rewrite her very being with just one wave of his hand. They’re both so so mentally and physically vulnerable both but they cling onto each other. They can’t perceive things accurately but despite it all someway somehow they stumble into something closer to resembling companionship just before they both die. Falin is just that kind and Thistle is just that lonely. Overworked.

We both haven’t lived for ourselves in a very long time, haven’t we.

They both have a similar devotion to the people they love but again the difference is that Thistle starts overtsepping while Falin is self-effacing. The other difference between them is that people care about Falin <3 People have given up on Thistle long ago, and he has given people reasons to, while people refuse to give up on Falin. Yaad has a mini arc about it dw about it it’s ok he’s not all alone in the end 😭😭 He reached out for Marcille’s hand but they already all wanted to help him, they just had to be given the chance to, Yaad just had to be given the chance to, it’s okay I’m okay

You know, it’s an extremely likely possibility that if you romance Lae’zel, the first people she’s exposed to for a significant amount of time that are in a romantic relationship (other than her and you) would be Isobel and Aylin

Which just leads to an increasing amount of hilarity because by the end of her Act 2 romance arc, Lae’zel is like actually acknowledging that she’s in a romantic relationship and happy about it and she’s probably gotten to the point where she’s at least a lot more comfortable showing affection in front of people before Isobel and Aylin join you, but she’s still likely extremely unsure about how your whole relationship works

So like, I could totally see Lae’zel just like silently noting that Isobel and Aylin have a “flesh-bond” and absolutely not commenting on it at all but spending the next several days very closely watching them and like furiously taking notes

OR I could see her being just comfortable enough with showing public affection that she’s like “we must not allow them to appear to have the stronger flesh-bond. We must show that we are stronger” but then utterly panicking if you try to take her up on that in any way

either way Lae’zel is seeing Aylin loudly proclaim every emotion she has and is sitting there writing down everything and underlining the word “loud” several times OR she’s trying to match Aylin who is again loudly proclaiming every single thing she and Isobel does or thinks and telling you to begone every three seconds so that she can stare at Isobel and fuck her

But most likely it would be Lae’zel trying some combination of these two things so it’s just chaos

in my mind i like creating not only fakemons but also like fake moves/abilities/stat spreads. i especially have fun thinking about what i would give characters if they were pokémon. like it’s normal to imagine your oc as a dnd character obviously or something else from a game like that but me i’m out here pokémonifying people. the thing is i’m always like ohhh is this too overpowered would this entirely hypothetical fake thing that will never be real break the meta. then i remind myself how bad gen 9 power creep is and i feel better. it could be real someday

and shri’iia was a generally fearful person in general - I think being raised in the braeryn and getting exposed to heinous amounts of violence since your own childhood will do that to you - but her matriarch fed into her paranoia even more. she wanted her to be so fearful that any thought of rebelling or escaping wouldn’t even cross her mind. like why escape when danger is all around you? when everyone will be out to kill you one way or another? why would you want to leave when you’re safe right here? forever? and you can trust on me only, and also lolth, the most important people in your life (:. and that worked! until she was sent to the surface to investigate the missing baenre entourage - which she was hesitant at first, she knows full well about the dangers in the surface and how they will hunt down drows by the mere of sight of them - but she can’t refuse her matriarch’s orders….so she complies….then gets abducted by a nautiloid and the rest of the bg3 plot happens.

and that’s really why she was so paranoid and scared when she arrived in the surface too. drows are known for their cruelty and cunning nature but shri’iia is more like a wild animal that’s been cornered honestly. she’s in full Flight or Fight mode because she’s scared out of her wits, and the way she response to fear is by fawning, trying to be their Ideal Person so it’s less likely they’ll harm her (and in her head their Ideal Person is like. Not a drow bc surfacers hate drows). Mix that with the way her matriarch kept her fearful and paranoid, something about the tool that kept her leashed is also the very thing that leads to her freedom
