Part 1: The Love Square. Why it worked, and why it failed.
People who aren’t as interested in Magical Girls as I am, specifically Magical Girl Animes with Romance, may not understand why the Love Square was such a big deal. Why it was the core; the life of the series.
Okay, so how many times have you seen a love triangle unfold? Quite many, I must guess. Some really good, and some, uhm, not so much.
In Magical Girl Animes they’re common – and the most popular ones have one very particular dynamic. Let’s run down it, shall we?
Our main character falls in love with another man, someone unreachable, unattainable. It’s someone she genuinely looks up to, and is most likely popular already.
I call this character “The Prince”
In Princess Tutu, it’s Mytho. In Shugo Chara it’s Tadase. In Tokyo Mew Mew it’s Aoyama. Sailor Moon has Motoki Furuhata in Season 1, and Mamoru in Stars.
He is the type of guy you want to fall in love with. Nice, kind, good-natured, a good leader, pretty and everything.
There’s one issue, though. The person who our Main Character’s crush likes is not her, but her alter ego. Mytho is in love with Tutu, not Ahiru, Tadase is in love with Amulet Heart not Amu. The one she becomes thanks to super natural magic.
Then, there’s the opposite. I like to call them the “Rebel” character.
You know who I’m talking about. The Ikuto, the Kishu, the Fakir or even Seiya of the story. They serve to be a contrast to the “Prince”. They’re often times, the only one who gets to see through the MC’s disguise and comes to understand her. “Rebel” characters are rarely in love with alter ego, but instead feel attraction to the MC or the “real one”
These are all fan favourites characters that fall under the “Bad Boy” trope. And for good reason.
Bad boy characters are popular with little girls, teen girls, women or even AFAB people in general since they call out something in our society. There’s very real pressure put forth by either parents or society to adhere to certain gender roles, and what they mean.
In other words, you’re “supposed” to be a good girl.
You have to get good grades, you have to smile all the time, you have to be polite, and you have to play nice. A bad boy character in fiction allows the viewer (in this case and for simplicity) girls to push back or be rebellious in a very safe way.
You don’t have to be good, you’re just following the steps of a bad guy with a heart of gold. He will help you break out of your shell, and be more confident. You get to feel like you’re trying to be the good girl society tells you to be, while finally exploring these darker aspects of your personality.
In YA and more mature books, this can involve anything from trying alcohol, having sex, or allowing oneself to be angry (exploring the “bad” or “not good” emotions AFAB people are always told they shouldn’t have).
But in audiences more aimed towards children, like those in Magical Girl animes, shoujos or tween cartoons, they exist in a more subdued way – although still tapping into this idea of rebellion against the status quo.
That’s why these characters are fan favourites.
So, to summarize. You have the MC in love with a “Prince” who in turn is in love with the Perfect Girl version of the MC. And a “Rebel” who is in love with the Real Version of the MC, flaws and all.
This particular dynamic is used as a thesis of sorts in any good story. Only by understanding both the real and idolized version of the MC can a man can “win” the love of our protagonist. And only by our MC knowing who she is, what her alter ego means, or how she relates to these dichotomies, can she understand herself.
And really, depending on how each show tackles its themes, it can have different answers. Tokyo Mew Mew offers the idea that the Prince is the correct option, while Princess Tutu says it’s not. Then there’s those with open endings such a Shugo Chara. Again, they use the dynamic, the thesis of their characters, to come to a conclusion that neatly ties to the theme.
Princess Tutu, for example, ties the ideal version of Mytho with the tragedy of a fairytale. Ahiru has to let go to be able to reach a conclusion. In Tokyo Mew Mew Ichigo sees her flaws (the cats ears) as something someone as perfect as Aoyama could never love – yet he shows he isn’t perfect and that he loves her with or without the perceived flaws she has.
That said,
It’s exactly why I loved Miraculous Ladybug when it first aired. It managed to boil down this interesting dynamic into the Love Square. The perfect and the real, the idolized and the true.
Ladybug represents the perfect version of Marinette. Adrien represents the perfect version, while the real one is Chat Noir. Chat was both the “Bad Boy” and the “Prince” all in one. Both Marinette and Adrien were in love with the “Perfect” or Idolized version of each other.
This was something never before seen. It would make for amazing content, right? Explore why we prefer an idolized version of someone, realize that true love means caring even when you’re not perfect. What our perceived “flaws” meant to others, and if they were truly flaws – or if our environment was the one teaching us they were. The possibilities and themes were limitless. We could have had something great-
No.
Sorry, we. We didn’t get that.
What we got were padded episodes, new love interest that refused to deal with this complexity, and a stagnant rship that refuses to explore any of the flaws of their characters - why they’re not perfect, or even a reason why they stay in love
This is why the Love Square fails. This, is the core of why and how it works. People can expand upon this in million different ways, but you inevitably come back to this.
The real and the idolized. The want vs the duty. The expectations and the responsibilities.
Instead of having an episode where Marinette realizes that Adrien isn’t perfect, that he isn’t a model 24/7 or that he has flaws, secrets and fear just like anyone else, we got Kagami.
Instead of Chat realizing that Ladybug isn’t perfect, that she isn’t always composed, that it’s just a persona put forth to feel more in control of a situation, we got Luka.
Both characters that I love, but they bring very little to the themes the Love Square was introducing, to begin with!
More focus should have been put in how these two bounce off each other.
How much better would the story had been if we got to see Marinette and Chat have a conversation? The two very flawed, very real, very confusing version fo these characters, just trying to understand each other.
And by the way, this is exactly why MariChat is the most popular dynamic.
Marinette acts like a girl. Scared, confused, and lonely. She isn’t a hero, she isn’t her perfect version. She is just Marinette. While she can put the mask on, at the end of the day, it’s still just a mask. And Chat? Well, we get to see him. Not the model, not the paper cut out, but a silly kid who wants to break free from a life of imprisonment by the parent who’s supposed to love him.
We get to see something real.
But, unfortunately we do not get that.
Their relationship stays static. The reason for this is a bit obvious.
The writers, to my opinion have come to this bizarre conclusion:
Developing this dynamic would mean changing dynamics, ending the status quo morphing the story into something new. And they assume a “new” means an “end”.
They’re thinking that the endgame is Adrien and Marinette realizing their identities, so they don’t wanna develop it for fear of bringing an ending “too close”.
Say you have 7 seasons prepared, you can't have them find out their identities in season 5 because their reveal should be in season 7. It should be the last couple of episodes even. After that, they'll date and it's over. So better drag this on for seasons on end.
This just proves to me: flawed writing skills and lack of direction.
WHICH wouldn’t surprise me seeing how Chloe ended up.
It is plain bad writing. Changing stuff doesn’t necessarily mean an endgame is near. It just means things are changing.
I’ll be mean to this series and compare it to the Magnus Opus of Magical Girls: Sailor Moon
Sailor Moon got together with Tuxedo mask in the first season, yet the writers were able to up the steaks of their relationship through its 5-season run: Through memory loss, a long distance romance, anxieties of hurting one another, or simply…developing their relationship. People change. And so does how they interact with other people.
These created amazing episodes that highlighted how much Usagi and Mamoru loved and cared for each other. It wasn’t just chance, it wasn’t just fate. This took work, it took time, and it took trust. This wasn’t something so easily lost. That’s why SailorMoonStars hits the hardest.
In the very last season, Usagi is in a long distance rship with Mamoru. And it breaks her. We see that she misses him, dealing with the turmoil of him not answering her messages. She’s devastated, seeking comfort in other people, but unable to forget him. Not even as Seiya begs her to take him instead of Mamoru, can she bring herself to give him up– because they’ve been together for a long, long time. And we’ve seen that.
We see her reminiscent. We see her break down and cry because he hasn’t called her. We see her thinking of him when she’s with Seiya. We see her be in love with him and we see how much it affected her that he’s ignoring her.
And by the last few episodes, we get a payoff. We find out Mamoru is dead, and that he died confident that Usagi would be strong enough to protect the Earth in his stead. That he believed in her, and he thought of her until the moment he died - uttering her name as the last thing he could do.
That’s why when Sailor Moon defeats Sailor Galaxia, the woman who killed the man she loved, through purification and not violence – it all feels right.
It’s a very simple but powerful story, packaged in 45 episodes. With enough room to breathe, digest it, but not drawn out enough for it to be annoying.
All this, when the relationship was already established. We could have had something like this in Miraculous Ladybug, if the writers WERENT drawing out the reveal and get together until the very last second!
ChatBlanc could have been an AMAZING multi-episode mini-arc.
No time-travel thing. They find their identities, they date for a few episodes, something goes horribly wrong, and Marinette has to find a way to fix the mistakes she's made. Much like Sailor Moon R.
Maybe by the end of it, she fixes it but sacrifices most of her memories. The only thing she recalls is that she knew Chat's identity, Paris almost got destroyed, and that leads to her putting distance between them.
Or maybe one day she wakes up with the memories of Chat Blanc and spends and entire season trying to know what happened, and when she does, she's horrified.
Idk, million amazing things could have been done with this episode to further develop these two's relationship. Complex, interesting, beautiful things.
But no. Because, apparently, thinking of love post-reveal is too much. Instead, we watch them run and run in circles. Chat Blanc was a single episode, and half of it was time travel shenanigans.
And all of this, just because the writers don’t actually know what they want to do with the love square. So they add new rivals, new teams, new accessories, side plots - all to avoid touching the actual core of what made the series great.
It strongly reminds me of Star vs. in that scenario the creators also weren’t sure where to take the show.
It wasn’t until season 2 where they started the subplot of Star realizing Mewni colonized Monsters that it started having a sense of self. And it showed in the romantic subplot, which was all over the place. They didn’t know what they wanted, so the romance in that show was a mess. Lack of direction and intention, aside from the knowledge that Star and Marco were the end game
I personally don’t hate Star vs. I don’t like how it handled romance but I will give it much leeway because the actual plot of Intergenerational conflict and coming to terms with the harm your ancestors have done to others - is quite compelling and not something I see tackled often.
But Miraculous does not get that. Its episodic plot is simple and refuses to get into the murky waters of its own premise.
The only thing it had going was The Love Square. Because I assure you, very few people give a crap about the Miraculous being stolen.
So, their lack of willingness was the first thing to ruin the Love Square. Fine.
But it’s not the nail on the coffin. The real reason why this suffered, was something that happened waaaay before all this.
Because one thing that the show refused to explore up until late into season 3 and start of season 4 was the specific parts of the “Ladybug” character. What I mean is, what “ideal self” she is as “Ladybug”. And how her existence affects Marinette. This is the fundamental flaw that issss...

Food Offerings and Libations for Deities
One recurring beginner pagan question is “Can I give this deity X?” It implies offerings are risky things, victim to a deity’s pickiness. There is a too-common fear among beginners that the “wrong” offering will anger the deity at worst and cause hiccups in the relationship at best.
However, just saying you can give anything to a deity can be dismissive of the impacts different offerings can have. I’d argue offerings fall into a hierarchy, and the better question to ask is not “can I give this to Deity?”, but rather “Does this offering match the energy I want for this interaction?”
Small footnote: UPG (unverified personal gnosis) means a part of one’s practice they believe in that has no historical basis. SPG (shared personal gnosis) is when multiple people believe in the same facet, but it has no historical worship.
UPG – Poseidon has no historical association with strawberries. I gave Him strawberries in exchange for a favor, the favor was fulfilled quickly, so I now believe that Poseidon really likes strawberries.
SPG – Many modern Hermes worshipers offer coffee to Him because it fits His energetic nature, but He has no historical association with coffee.
First things first, there are very few limits on what can be an offering
My rule of thumb is that as long as it’s edible, it’s good. I wouldn’t give a deity something rotted, moldy, expired, or out of the garbage.
Most deities do not have any offerings that would offend Them; you can give Them pretty much anything. Even something modern like Twix or Red Bull would be accepted!
There can be exceptions, like offering Jewish entities non-kosher food or giving Aphrodite pig products, but it’s usually common knowledge among Their worshipers, so if in doubt you can always ask if there’s anything you shouldn’t give.
First Rank – Non-UPG/SPG Offerings
The most informal offerings are those that are mainly given because they’re on hand. These are offerings of convenience, usually due to the pagan being in the broom closet or being unable to acquire a more deity-specific offering.
If you can’t afford a formal offering, or if it just isn’t available to you geographically or legally (18- Dionysus worshipers, I see you), this option may feel lazy but an offering is an offering at the end of the day! The gods understand your limitations.
This offering is also good for anytime you want a small or casual interaction. Remember those cartoons where the kid asks for Christmas everyday, only to realize that things are only special when they’re infrequent? Non-UPG/SPG offerings allow us a more convenient offering for our smaller interactions, so when we desperately need to ask for the Big Stuff, those formal offerings feel like grander gestures.
Second Rank – Historical Offerings for the Pantheon
These offerings are a step up from the first, mainly because they’re slightly more personalized. Many pantheons had “default offerings” which could be given to any god in that pantheon.
Many of them are usually staples, like bread or alcohol. This means that they can be wonderfully easy to get, and they’re often common enough that if you’re a minor in the broom closet, your parents will have some in the house somewhere.
Some pagans will forego the non-UPG/SPG offering rank entirely, preferring to only give historical “default” offerings as their casual offering. This is valid!
Third Rank – Deity-Specific Offerings
This is the most formal, and most personalized, of the offerings. These are offerings you associate with the deity, whether it’s historical, UPG, or SPG.
Anytime you want a formal interaction, these types of offerings will be your best bet for creating that mood. Remember that the energy of a situation can be modified by our psychology and mood; giving Apollo slices of a chocolate orange will likely feel more fulfilling and pagan-y than giving Him some Sour Patch Kids, though both are modern foods.
Again, it is 100% okay if you cannot provide these types of offerings. While they may be best for formal situations, other offerings will work well, especially if you focus on the interaction itself instead of kicking yourself over the offering.
At the end of the day, whether or not an interaction was successful depends on the interaction between you and the deity. Yes the offering is a part of it, but it’s not as make-or-break as some people seem to believe; at best, it’s just a bit of generosity. The gods want to connect to you & your energy, and They can do that very well without needing an offering, They just need you.

Hey! I really like this account and the stuff you have been doing. May I have a SFW romantic CRK, MHA, or Mystic Messenger matchup?
I go by He/Him pronouns and I am gay (MLM). 1 am 5'5" and chubby. I have my hair cut short and plan on dying it soon. I often wear piercings, using only ear piercings. I often wear nice button ups with sweater vests or just horror movie shirts.
I would describe myself as introverted, but not necessarily shy. I am a very blunt person, which has caused some people to like me while others don’t. Though I just prefer to relax alone. I am overly cautious with myself and the people I love due to conditions I have lived with. So, I accidentally come off as too paranoid. I am intelligent and often love literature and media because of it. I am very much an artistic but also a writer.
I like spicy food, world building, fantasy stories, sci-fi settings, coffee, cats, supernatural stuff, RPGs, niche RPGs, TTRPGs (not just d&d), vintage wear, good cooking, taxidermy, rocks, horror movies, horror books, card games, niche history, niche internet cartoons, old rock music, metal music, unique art, stop motion, and anime.
I dislike overly sweet foods, the "I ain't reading all of that" or "it ain't that deep" type of person. anybody who thinks cartoons and/or horror have any real substance to them, minimalism, most romance movies, toxic positivity, and people who chew with their mouths open.
My hobbies are media dissection, writing, playing TTRPGs (both as a player and a GM/DM), drawing, playing video games, making them too, binge watching horror movies, and collecting vintage items.
I’m just going to do Mystic Messenger so if you want another fandom you can just resubmit with a different fandom you want!
I’m going to match you with . . .
Yoosung !
- okay I don’t like Yoosung that much but I am going to TRY MY BEST!
- When he first met you he was probably lowkey intimidated because of how blunt you can be and he’s a very sensitive guy.
- But he was determined to be your friend because you looked like you needed some! (not in a bad way)
- A while after being friends, he’s stuck to you like glue!
- He grows to admire how intelligent you are especially when it comes to media dissection! Because that’s a rare breed now.
- HATESSS toxic positivity! But that’s just because he likes giving genuine and straightforward compliments! Especially if it’s for a special cool person such as yourself!
- In his pining stage he probably starts to steal certain articles of your clothing when you aren’t looking. Most likely one of your sweater vests.
- Also becomes a lot more touchy, while making sure you’re comfortable of course!
- But when I say a lot I mean a LOT! Like at every greeting and farewell he hugs you and when you guys are walking together he wraps an arm around yours as he claims it’s so “he doesn’t get lost”, but I think we all know the real reason.
- When ur in a relationship:
- I’m sorry when I say this… But he probably chews with his mouth open because he’s trying to talk and eat at the same time. You’re going to have to be the one to tell him to swallow his food before he talks. 😭
- On another note, COFFEE DATES ARE A MUST!
- He doesn’t really like coffee though because of its bitter taste, so he orders hot chocolate instead thinking you don’t notice and spoiler alert, you do. 😭
- HE WOULD NEVVVVEEERRRR say “I ain’t readin allat” or anything like that because he is your #1 simp bruh. He IS readin allat!
- Takes your feelings seriously to because again he’s a very sensitive guy. So you will never hear him invalidate your feelings because why tf would he?! You are entitled to feel whatever you want!
- Also likes playing games with you. I don’t know what they’re called, but you know those meetings or cons where they all gather to play? Yeah he goes with you to those.
- He never knows what’s going on though, poor Yoosung 😭
- Confused, but happily cheering you on because you’re amazing!
- Boundaries with him are also important, keep in mind he’s mentally ill and will probably cling to you a lot more. So you will have to ask for space when you need it because he doesn’t get subtle hints.
Yoosung whines. A lot.
You were trying to get out of bed to start getting ready for a meet up with game friends, but he wouldn’t have it!
“Don’t goooo!” Yoosung whined. He was upset because you couldn’t take him with you this time. So to prevent you from leaving, he had his arms wrapped tight around your waist. You didn’t listen, standing up from the bed and kissing his forehead softly. But he wasn’t giving up!
He stayed with you through that whole morning, trying to constantly put his hands on you, but you would always swat them away when you were doing something!
Eventually you were preparing to leave and he was at his wits end. He tested out one last trick.
That’s how you found yourself passionately kissing your boyfriend, he was not giving you any room to even speak. It was kiss after kiss. You gently nudged him away with your arms and he whined loudly, immediately going back in for another kiss. Soo… Now you had to cancel your plans.
sorry it was short!

Happy new week, let’s write some more replies.
Anonymous asked:
What do you think about the dwarves? It frustrates me a how the fandom infantilizes them even tho they are in fact 2nd years and a type of fae in-universe.
The dwarves are little assholes and should have been kicked by both Vil in ch5 and Epel in the Harveston event >C Sorry, for some reason getting angry at them is kind of funny; maybe because the NRC boys also get super mad at them whenever they see them now… and their madness is contagious, I get mad every time I see them too.
Dramatics aside, I don’t have any problems with them as characters; I think they serve their role perfectly, to be honest. They are supposed to be annoying in a way…
I haven’t seen anything with them in the fandom, but yeah, I see your point. It’s pretty easy to start infantilising them, even though they themselves said that they are 17 and not some little kids in their very first scene. But if the way the dwarves in the original cartoon act is of any indication of the twst dwarves’ behaviour, I think it’s safe to say that even though they aren’t kids, they are menchildren lol But they’re doing their best!
It would be interesting to learn more about different types of fae.
Anonymous asked:
how do you think the other characters who weren’t in the playful land event would’ve been like? i wish epel was in it he probably would’ve ended up in a cute frilly outfit 🥰
Good question, Anon. I really wish to see the “switched” version of the past 2 Halloween events, so the Tweels+Lilia could torment Rollo, and then Fellow gets to suffer from Rook or Sebek… would’ve been so funny.
Epel absolutely would have ended up in a cute frilly outfit! Maybe something similar to what Lilia ended up wearing, but more “round” and cutesy. Actually, the costumes from these two events match each other very nicely; of course, the theme is different, but there are a lot of accessories/motifs that are featured in both of them: top hats, frills, capes… So the overall design probably wouldn’t be super different, and Epel’s GloMasq costume is already super cute!
Epel would have had a lot of fun, and I think he would be a very nice fit for this event in general: he feels like someone who would ditch school lol He would want to ride every single attraction, but also!! CARTS! He would race with Deuce! >:3 And whoever else decides to join!
If Deuce didn’t end up warning Riddle about the Playful Land and went with Ace, he probably would’ve been nervous the entire time, but couldn’t help but have fun with all the attractions. Riddle is interesting because he would be the one who is the most pissed about everyone skipping school, but… deep inside Riddle really loves fun, doesn’t he? So maybe with Fellow’s unique magic he could become almost out-of-character giggly… but then immediately get angry at himself because he shouldn’t be having fun! I also want him to put a collar on Fellow lol
Ruggie and Azul probably would’ve sensed that something is up from the very beginning. Ruggie knows that free things are too good to be true, but still, he probably would get as much free food as he can. He wouldn’t care about the rides all that much.
And Azul, as we all know, is suspicious and cautious to the point that Jade used him as an example of someone who wouldn’t be very susceptible to the kind of magic that Fellow possesses. He would still scan the entirety of the Playful Land for market research though lol Someone should make Jade’s dream come true and force him to ride the rollercoaster. I also think Fellow and Azul would have a lot of “oh what a snake you are” kind of interactions...
Speaking of snakes, Jamil would be alert the entire time too! But he would probably relax easier than Azul; I also feel like Jamil would enjoy that crazy roller-coaster ride that Ace loved a lot. He would also think “thank god Kalim isn’t here” when they get captured lol
Rook would also be suspicious of Fellow from the very beginning, and he would probably be around him more than Fellow would want him to be. He would watch him from the ferries wheel (“Oh, I can see monsieur renard from here! Let’s wave” or some other bs)… Fellow would be so uncomfortable around him lol Gidel wouldn’t mind Rook though. Until he starts touching Fellow’s tail and--
Idia would really hate it at first. Like he said in the event himself, he hates amusement parks, long lines, loud people and being outside. He would probably stick closer to Azul at first, just like he wanted to do in GloMasq: he is his source of comfort lol But they would get separated, and Idia would get tricked (or forced) to go to some crazy ride… and then he would either absolutely unexpectedly love it and want to go again, or completely hate it and faint like Meg did after riding the Pegasus lol Actually, I want Rook to take him to the roller coaster!!
Sebek and Silver would go because Malleus wanted to go and while they don’t want to skip school, they have to accompany him to make sure nothing bad happens! I want Silver to still go looking for souvenirs for their loved ones with Idia lol I really loved how Ortho and Lilia also were looking for souvenirs in the event…
And Sebek would probably have fun at that attraction that measures strength… he would force Silver to do it too to see who’s stronger! And then Malleus would completely break the thing. Oops… Malleus would actually break a lot of things. He would completely destroy that house that is supposed to get destroyed BUT NOT LIKE THAT!
Fellow would have such a rough time with Malleus. But at least Malleus would perform and sing majestically <3 What an absolute treat of a guest. Well… not really if you’re trying to pull a human trafficking scheme.
Fellow wouldn’t be as lucky with this group, that’s for sure.
… who would play pool? Azul would. Azul, Jamil, Malleus and Idia and Rook.
Anonymous asked:
Does Fellow have the phone number of that one really mean client? I'm asking for a friend...
(this is related to mob/fellow hcs from this post)
Ohh, I sense some market competition 👀
Anonymous asked:
Bro Jade can fucking gut me in the mountains and I'd thank that man
I feel like with people really wanting Jade to do horrible things to them in the mountains, he’ll end up just having a sweet and wholesome time just to spite everyone who thirsts for him… 😔 a cruel man

i need someone who understands to commiserate with me.
WHY are people marking spider-man - all media types when they mean "twinky tiny teeny baby tom holland and papá stark and ooh sometimes big hulking predatory gay teen fucker deadpool (i think thats his name ive never read a comic but i know he hears voices oooOohooH)" thats NOT ALL MEDIA TYPES THATS THE FUCKING TOM HOLLAND MOVIES
they can like that! i dont CARE. what i care about is intentionally obfuscating your fic premise, thereby making ME read it 😭😭😭
i know spideytorch is your fav flame but at least many torch knowers know about smth besides the movies 😔😔
(have a good day, i needed to bitch and i was like. he is the only one who will truly understand 💛)
Anon I feel you I bitch about this every day lmao the exclude mcu button on ao3 is my best friend! Like listen mcu fans can do whatever they want but like fandom etiquette dictates that if I don’t like I shouldn’t read so it’s common courtesy for them to say exactly what the fic is so I can know that I’m the type of fan who doesn’t like it so I won’t read it. Like I’ve been 5k words into pretty alright Spider-Man fic and then I’m hit with the “mr.stark” and I’m like god where’s my Spider-Man that doesn’t respect billionaires it’s crushing every time. And like hey mcu fans, y’all are the majority here if people want Tom Holland Spider-Man they’re searching that fandom tag so use it so more of your intended audience can read your fic!
I’ll be honest with you anon the reason I’m so into spidey torch is because 1 it’s a semi popular ship and 2 spidey torch fans tend to be obsessed with the comics sometimes for both the boys but they’re a super fan of at least one. The fantastic four have had nothing but shitty adaptations so their comic fandom is bigger than their movie fandoms it’s wonderful. I don’t really ship Johnny with Peter beyond like oh they probably were a friends with benefits situation or a Johnny is way more hopelessly in love situation. Nah the real goat of Johnny Storm ships is Johnny and Wyatt Wingfoot that is a power couple that can stand the test of time. But unfortunately it’s a very small tag and there’s quite a few writers who don’t know how to be normal about Native Americans. But my diehard spidey ship is parksborn and that tag is such a mixed bag! Sometimes it’s like the perfect replication of the comic dynamic, sometimes it’s the Raimi movies (functionally two different characters but also fun), something to do with the cartoons (not my thing because they’re kids doing high school drama), whatever the fuck Andrew Garfield had going with that dying Victorian orphan, or Harry is the evil ex but like evil the same way Norman was like fuck off!
Anyway spidey torch is the only spidey dude slash ship that has like consistently good fics but all the other ships you’ve gotta sift through a lot of bull shit but it’d be so much easier to find what I want if people would just tag their shit correctly!
Anyway thank you for bitching with me anon. Reminder: fuck the mcu until Sabra is removed from captain America 4, pirate your movies and comics and don’t buy shit from them. Pirate spectacular Spider-Man comics and every single Wyatt Wingfoot appearance

In defense of DT17 Doofus!
He’s better, I’m sorry. I’m sure some people, especially if you grew up on the cartoons and are used to him, would disagree. But I’ve seen too many memes slandering Doofus Drake and I will not stand for it any longer.
1) He’s a foil to Louie Duck in 2017
He serves more of a purpose in my opinion. Characters don’t need to serve a purpose to be good, but Doofus in ‘87 wasn’t super impactful and when he was the center of the episodes, the could have been filled by someone else. For example, anyone could have found the crystal he finds in “Superdoo!” (S1 E52) and it would have a similar story. Louie desires to be super rich, so it’s good to see him compared to a kid who did get super rich very quickly (and kept his money). Him being really weirded out by Doofus works to show the audience how it could turn out if Louie achieved his goals long-term. This is especially true when you consider how he acted when he was briefly the richest duck in the world.
2) He’s less of a harmful stereotype
Now, he’s not not a stock character in ‘17, but he plays a different sort of character. Instead of being a fat idiot who really likes food, he’s a spoiled rotten psycho who will do anything to get his way. Both are stock, stereotype characters, but I’d argue that stereotyping spoiled rich kids is much less harmful. He’s also just more modern. The fat dumbass character has become less popular over time, where making fun of insanely rich people is all the rage.
3) He has more room for development
Now, he doesn’t change a lot because he’s a fairly minor character, but at the bare minimum things happen to him that are implied to affect his development off screen. His arc with Louie ending with him forgiving Louie for “ruining his inheritance” was certainly something. As well as his inheritance being halved in the first place by B.O.Y.D., who deserves it more than him. These things are the start of a significant change for Doofus, even if it just happens after the events of the show. OG Doofus does not have the space for that sort of development, because being big and really liking Launchpad aren’t flaws that should be fixed, they’re traits to be laughed at.
4) He’s just funnier
Personal opinion, but I like him more in DT17, I just prefer when he’s on screen to when Doofus87 is on screen. I think it could be because of my age and the shows I’m used to watching and the character types I’m used to, but I prefer the style of humor Doofus17 brings. Plus he has some of my favorite one-off gags, like the “What is he gonna do with umbrella and walnuts?!” Line. Technically said by Louie, but caused by him.
Final thoughts:
I think it would be funny to watch them physically fight.
Also if you don’t like ‘17 Doofus, try picturing that he’s not named Doofus Drake. Maybe if you stop looking at him through that lense, he’ll bother you less, because he is an insane departure from Doofus87. They aren’t even close to being the same character.
#ducktales 2017#ducktales 1987#ducktales#doofus drake#I really like him in the reboot#he slays#but also this is just my opionion#but please I want to see Doofus Vs. Doofus in the ring

ATLA Live Action Episode 7: Overall Thoughts.
Right so this episode was a mixed bag for me. On paper I should have loved it: it’s two big moments are Azula/Katara scenes and they parallel each other. Those are my two favorite characters and I love exploring how they mirror one another. But the actual execution of some of the scenes was…lacking.
Okay I legitimately forgot that Zhao tried to blow up Zuko’s boat in the original and it was funny bc I was reacting like it was something new this show did…nope lmao. Speaking of Zhao, I feel like this show can’t really decide what they want him to be. In the OG it was pretty clear: he was an asshole with lots of resources and therefore a threat, but he was also cocky and delusional and not very good at his job. Here I feel like this show is flip flopping between having him be legitimately threatening or a delusional idiot. Both are fine choices individually and honestly I don’t really care what they do since it’s not like he was a main character in the OG, but they do need to pick one. Like, objectively, from a writing standpoint.
I know some people disliked the changes to Yue and Sokka’s relationship, but I thought they were cute. I liked that they used the extended time at the North Pole pre-attack to flesh out their relationship more and give them some more bonding moments. It makes me buy into them more (I was never a love at first sight girlie). I agree that Yue’s character in the original was a really well written example of the good and bad things that come with being as loyal/dutiful as she is and that is missing here. But unlike our main cast, if you look at her without the lens of the original, she’s still a fleshed out, decently written character. I think she works (except for her hair of course).
Sokka on the other hand…I like that they’re allowing him to express his insecurities and trying to give him an arc, but I didn’t like Yue saying his heart was the most important thing about him. It’s such a generic line, and out of all of our main cast, it seems to suit him the least. It made it feel like they’re trying to give the whole main trio the same arc, which I…did not appreciate. But he does have good chemistry with Yue.
Speaking of generic arcs for the main trio…dear god I hate what they’re doing with Aang. It’s not offensive but it’s so overdone. Every fantasy protagonist in history has this conflict, and while it works for an episode of a cartoon, it does not work as Aang’s central conflict. Gordon’s doing his best with his lines, but I get bored watching his scenes. Also I didn’t love the stuff with Kuruk. Stay away from the Korra Spirit World stuff. Y’all can’t handle the material you have.
Okay onto my main girlies:
Azula’s arc definitely goes into the “it’s a different choice from the original but it works on its own category.” If you don’t compare her to OG Azula, these writing choices make sense. They work, and they go hand in hand with how this new Ozai is different from OG Ozai. OG Ozai really didn’t seem to care about his kids. They were tools in his play for power. We never got the sense that he’d really thought about either of them succeeding him, and or that he’d ever thought about his own death. This Ozai seems to be trying to turn both Azula and Zuko into younger versions of him (as we saw in the Agni Kai last episode), and he brings up the “heir to the throne” title a lot. This means he wants his kids to have a fighting spirit, a drive. It makes Azula’s defiance all the more twisted because it’s supposed to be this empowering moment for her…but really it’s exactly what Ozai wants. It’s objectively really good writing, and both Lizzy Yu and Daniel Dae Kim do a great job acting it out. At the same time, I feel a little loss of OG Azula. OG Azula was so busy fighting for Ozai’s love, being perfect, that she never had time to think about what she wanted because she was so stifled in the “golden child” role. That’s a type of abuse we don’t see depicted a lot in media, and I do wish the live action show had taken up that challenge. On the other hand, the arc we got was objectively good and I’m not sure they could have handled that subtlety. Overall, my feelings on these scenes are mostly good with some doubts in there. It does make me wonder what they’re going to do now that we know we’re getting a Book 3. Azula’s original Book 3 stuff with Ozai really wouldn’t work now that she’s already become so defiant.
Okay my girl Katara: FINALLY she got an episode to shine rather than being a side piece for Aang or Sokka’s arcs! Funny that all the filler episodes they cut were the Katara centric ones…but I digress. I understand not wanting to cut the stuff with NWT sexism, and I DON’T THINK THEY SHOULD HAVE. But with all their worries about Sokka’s sexism not translating well to a live action, they should have considered the fact that such heavy handed sexism might come off as cartoonish in a live action format. Most real sexism is more subtle, albeit just as frustrating and wrong, and I’m sad the show passed up their opportunity to portray that. I did like that Katara finally got to show both her anger and her hope. I felt like this was the first episode where she really felt in character. While some characters work while being different from the original (mostly FN characters), Katara’s changes made her an objectively more hollow character, so seeing sparks of OG Katara was awesome! She still felt a little flat, but it’s definitely a HUGE step in the right direction. (And Kiawentiio did awesome. Glad she’s finally getting to showcase her range). The end of the Katara/Pakku fight was a little weird but I’ll let it slide because she had that AWESOME line to Aang where she was like (I’m not going to get this exactly) “Fighting is my decision, not you or Pakku’s or anyone else’s.” I was CHEERING! This is the Katara we need more of.
I know I was largely critical in this review, but I really enjoyed this episode. This episode really solidified my belief that you have to think of these characters as totally new people. Different choices are being made, and that’s okay as long as they’re still good characters with ties to the original. Sometimes it works (Azula, Yue) and sometimes it doesn’t (main trio) but if you can enjoy it when it works, you’ll enjoy the whole show a lot more.
I’ll give this one an 8.5/10. Kind of the opposite of the last episode. With that one, there weren’t any great new choices they made (most of the best moments were straight out of the cartoon), but there was also nothing I really disliked. This episode made some great new choices that I thought were interesting and took some steps towards fixing some of the characters they butchered, but there was some stuff in here that I actively disliked (namely Aang and Zhao).

No. 10 - Dodo Airlines
Well, @vultureworth, I suppose you can.
For reference: I’ve never played Animal Crossing, so I actually had to do research for this. I saw an interesting thing or two in the process, though, so here’s what I learned! This took me down an entirely different rabbit hole, so two posts are going up today. Enjoy.
(image: Animal Crossing Twitter)
So, to begin with, just looking up the liveries I’ve seen a few mentions of the DAL logo being a nod to JAL.
I don’t not see it. I mean, they’re both circles and both follow an XAL format, but that’s true for like a fifth of all the airlines in the world. Both have a bird facing to the left. The fonts used are similar in width and color and both appear to be italic, but the spacing and typeface are visibly very different. I probably wouldn’t have picked up on it had it not been pointed out to me but the Tsurumaru logo is definitely iconic and it’s a neat little detail.
The only type DAL operates looks like this. It’s too stylized to discern an exact model but my guess would be that it’s meant to be a Cessna 172 or one of the many similar-looking Cessna models. They’re extremely common and frequently fitted with floats. I’ve flown on a Cessna 180 floatplane myself.
Yep, that’s sure a Cessna 172 on amphibious floats. DAL’s plane isn’t amphibious, only capable of taking off and landing on water, but you can do that too (I imagine it’s even easier); I just had a weirdly hard time finding a picture of a fully aquatic Skyhawk.
I’m actually pretty sure it’s specifically one of the very old models which had a much more angular tailfin and no rear windows, but maybe by this point I’ve thought more about this than the art team did when designing the plane. That said, I have to question the decision to add a third prop blade to a plane that can barely pull 200 horsepower with aftermarket engine changes. That’s just inefficient.
When it comes to the DAL livery, I enjoy the way that the curve of the main fuselage’s paint is repeated on the pontoons. The logo placement feels weird to me initially but I suppose upon reflection it would be strange to put it anywhere else and it looks fine. It would probably look a bit less fine on a real airplane but this is not a real airplane, this is a cartoon airplane flown by a silly cartoon bird in a video game.
This is making me appreciate just how hard it is to find somewhere to put a logo on a single-engine high-wing plane.
But the DAL fleet are actually jellybeans! That’s right, they come in four different colorways!
all images taken from either the Animal Crossing wiki or bidoofcrossing.com
I’ll be honest - I like the blue trim on the yellow and the green models, but it looks sort of bad on the red/orange. My favorite overall, surprisingly, might be the yellow. I don’t know - I like the contrast, but the yellow somehow feels less bright than the green.
Overall...A solid C for Dodo Airlines.
Just one thing, though. We’ve gotten basically every angle except directly from behind, but I don’t see a registration anywhere on these planes. Whatever aviation authority the Animal Crossing world is bound to is going to have some words for DAL...

Beatlemania
I grew up in the 1990’s, which should tell you a few things about me. I grew up watching Saturday morning cartoons, I can’t afford a house, I played Nintendo 64, and, of course, I memorized the theme song to “Pokemon.” Growing up, I loved “Pokemon.” I had Red, Blue, and Yellow, I collected the cards, I watched the cartoon, and, of course, I collected the toys. Recently, my wonderful wife got me one of the new figures as a treat, a figure of a Pokemon I really liked growing up. So let’s see if “Pokemon Battle Figure Heracross” deserves a spot on your team, or if he’s going to the Box.
Ok, I’m not gonna even pretend someone reading this doesn’t know the premise for “Pokemon,” so I’m not gonna get into the plots of the games. I will, however, happily talk about Heracross! Her across is a Bug/Fighting-Type Pokemon from the Johto region, as seen in “Pokemon Gold, Silver, and Crystal.” In the anime, he has a tremendous fondness for tree sap and turns out to be one of Ash’s most reliable Pokemon during his time in Johto. While he’s no Charizard or Pikachu, he’s reliable and can hold his own in a fight.
Growing up, I was absolutely delighted by Heracross’s appearance. He’s an adorable Japanese Rhinoceros Beetle, whose design makes him have a warm, friendly face. Whenever I saw him, he always looked like he had a warm, simple smile. Normally, I’m not a bug person, but he always seemed so nice and I wanted to hug him.
Now, let’s talk about what the “Battle Figures” are. Basically, they’re just the latest mainstream line of Pokemon figures. The main draw for this line is that the figures are more in scale than has been the case in previous lines. Smaller Pokemon are smaller than other figures, and the largest ones tower over others. Many figures of the bigger Pokemon have special features, such as spring-loaded missiles, button-triggered movements, and other such things that serve to emulate different special attacks. As a whole, they’re a very fun, delightful line that kids will love.
In terms of appearance, Heracross looks like he stepped right out of the anime. His show and game accuracy is absolutely stupendous, and his special feature, which we’ll talk about later, in no way takes away from his looks. He has that adorable face I talked about previously, which still makes me so happy whenever I see him. Every detail on him is both friendly and accurate, while his horn and claws make it clear he can fight if he needs to.
He's shaped like a friend
Now, Heracross is pretty limited in terms of articulation. His only posable parts are in his shoulders, so there’s a wide range of motion there. Heracross’s head cannot turn, and his special feature means there’s no real articulation in his legs. So overall, he has very limited articulation, but I feel like his special feature and great looks more than make up for that.
Seen here directing traffic
Heracross, like all the Battle Figures of his size, has a special feature. If you bend him over, he pops back up, which lets him hit things with his horn. There’s a motor in his body, like that of a wind-up toy, and that’s how the feature works. This, unfortunately, does come with a drawback: due to the nature of the mechanism, Heracross launches his attack the second you take your hand off him. You can’t keep him in position, so getting a pic of him doing the attack is a challenge. This is balanced out by the sound the motor makes when you bed Heracross over, which sounds very much like the sound a beetle makes. I’m pretty sure it’s unintentional, but it’s a really nice touch.
The desperate measures I took to get a pic of the battle feature
Now for the part of the review where I talk about my criticisms with this toy. Honestly, my only criticisms are how Heracross launches his attack automatically and how his head can’t turn. That’s really it. Other than those two slight complaints, I really like this figure.
“Pokemon Battle Figure Heracross” is available at mass retail for about $10 for ages 4+, and I would absolutely recommend him. He’s fun to play with, he’s a perfect size, I like the plastic he’s made of, and his appearance makes me happy. All around, he’s a great toy. I’ve gotten a few of the other figures from this line of Heracross’s size and tried out their features. I’ve never been let down. The line as a whole’s been pretty great, and I do recommend it. Heracross is aimed at kids, but I feel like any fan of Pokemon, bugs, or fun toys would like this figure. Definitely give him a shot. Next time, we’ll be looking at a throwback from a bygone era, so come back and take a look! This is JS signing off and wishing you Happy Toy Hunting!

SOUTH PARK TATTOO STYLE HEADCANONS
I got into Ink Master recently and have since been obsessed with tattoos, SO here are headcanons as to what tattoos the SP characters would get. VERY SPECIAL THANK YOU to @sn33z3s both for getting me into Ink Master and for helping me (and probably doing more work than I did tbh) come up with these <3
Most of the example links here for tattoo styles are on Instagram, and link to the pages of artists who do these styles!
Stan - Definitely either American Traditional or Neotraditional; either way, bold, thick lines and saturated color. Some specific designs he’d get would probably be traditional wolves, flowers, and/or neotraditional dogs: he would get a memorial piece for Sparky!! Would get full sleeves, but is also prone to getting funny sticker-type tattoos on a whim depending on what he likes at the moment.
Kyle - VERY MUCH a fine art tattoo kind of guy. His tattoos would look like paintings and are generally based off of them, but would also get fine line black and gray occasionally. Very delicate tattoos with very dainty lines, and he takes impeccable care of them.
Kenny - Has a huge variety of stick and poke tattoos (tattoos done by hand instead of with a tattoo machine) that he did himself. Would be very into the DIY and punk elements of stick and poke, and would also do them on request for his friends. Has ‘sleeves’ but they aren’t cohesive, and are actually just a bunch of very different tattoos kind of vaguely in the same place. Gets tattoos on a whim; if he dies, it’s not like they’re sticking around anyway!
Butters - Mostly has stick and poke tattoos that Kenny did for him (they are not very good), but occasionally branches out to get different tattoos. Other than the stick and pokes, I can see him primarily getting abstract and watercolor tattoos, mostly using the color blue? I don’t have a good reason for this. It just speaks to me.
Craig - Gets only black and gray geometric tattoos, and is extremely anal retentive about them. Turns up his nose at the idea of getting color in his tattoos, and is obnoxiously smug when his tattoos look good years in the future.
Tweek - Flowers!! He would be a flower tattoo guy, and his tattoos would have a lot of dotwork/stippling so he could get away with twitching; he wouldn’t go for fine line designs out of fear he would twitch and fuck it up. Mostly black and grey, but could definitely go for yellow if he was getting sunflowers.
Clyde - Has the WORST tattoos out of everyone. Mostly gets New School, but not the good kind; he gets memey tattoos that are old and cringe in two years time. He also has a ton of them and none of them are cohesive at all, because he tells his artist to do whatever and then hits on them during the whole tattoo.
Tolkien - Doesn't necessarily go with the typical iconography of American Traditional, but definitely goes with the style: bold lines and very saturated colors. His tattoos sit kind of in the middle between simple and complex, and they're always the cleanest tattoos out of the group.
Jimmy - Also gets New School, but actually does his research and gets cool tattoos. They all look sick and hold up super well. All of his tattoos are extremely colorful and actually do look like stickers. Leans very heavy into the cartoon style and it works for him.
Wendy - Kind of settles somewhere between Neotraditional and New School; her tattoos are all very clean, but not overly graphic or cartoony. Has a minimalist color palette and bold lines, so you can tell what her tattoos are from across the room. Often includes feminist iconography.
Bebe - ALSO FLOWERS. She could go either black and gray or color, but if she did go for color, it would definitely be red. Her tattoos are all very flattering and fit her shape well; they have a lot of flow and motion to them. Would get one of those flower tattoos on her hip.
Nichole - She doesn't have a set style, so she has a little bit of everything! She essentially treats tattoos like a scrapbook, and mostly gets new ones to celebrate events in her life, even if they're small, or to match with her friends. Most of her designs are silly and cute, and she doesn't take it too seriously.
Heidi - ANIMAL TATTOOS. She gives off that vibe to me, with deer in particular. She's mostly a Neotraditional animal type of person, but could go with realistic given the right artist. Her tattoos are always in color.

(Based on another post.)
Ok... I was looking at the designs and-
Has anyone realized how weird the racial implications of Hazbin Hotel (and Helluva Boss with the main characters) are?
I know someone else has already talked about this-
But Charlie Morningstar is clearly white coded. The “corrupt souls” she has to “save” are clearly poc coded or are directly poc. The “villains” of the show are MOSTLY poc with Velvet being confirmed as poc indirectly by Vivziepop not long ago and Valentino was confirmed to be hispanic too. It gets off “white savior” vibes along with the fact that 1. Theres a creole character who practices voodoo who’s stereotyped as a cann^bal 2. There being a hispanic poc (Valentino) who’s also shown to be highly aggressive, to a character thats Italian: a ethnicity thats considered as “white” in many places. Hell! Niffy is even Japanese, and she was drawn as yellow 100% of the time until just recently.
They also have this thing where theres something i’d like to call “Greywashing”: Where Vivziepop deliberately avoids using the color brown, and instead makes all of her poc (No, “Coco” doesnt count shes from another artist. This is only about the main designer.) a lighter shade of grey, giving the illusion of brown skin without actually making them brown. While Vivziepop gave Charlie a peach-like skin tone. So its clearly not because they're demons but something else entirely.
(Light Grey.)
(Grey, with a brownish tint mixed in.)
(LIGHT grey.)
(Not counting Valentino since he seems to be more moth based than Vaggie and isnt intended to be as humanoid unlike those that are on this list.)
While Charlie, our “main heroine” is drawn as a blonde looking girl with snow-white skin. I know some people will make the “they're demons!” excuse, but these characters in particular are clearly meant to be the closest to human looking. Especially Charlie, who’s design is just a generic looking white girl with some Halloween makeup slapped on, an eye infection, and neko teeth.
So her being the main protagonist, half of the made to be “worst” characters such as Valentino and Alastor directly being poc. Plus the fact that the show is demonizing a closed religion that was created by African slaves as a way of coping with their situation while Hazbin is showing it as “evil” or “dark magic”. Plus in Helluva Boss, the “succubitches” are all shown to be sluts who are written in a negative light, who also happen to be poc in their human forms.
... who are also shamed by the police as “degenerates.”
They also have a poc background character named “Rat”, a animal that tends to be stereotyped in cartoons as “dirty” or “disease filled.” and yet they decided to name the second darkest character (who is also from a different artist) this.
This combined with the other implications can only make me say:
What is Vivziepop’s deal with us?! Why is she outright refusing to draw us without making our skin somewhat grey- a light grey for that matter! The people at the wiki call Alastor “beige.” But I remember there being a time where they called him khaki, and earlier “grey.” Even beige is described as a “greyish tan” and is considered “the most pale” type of brown. So even the “browns” are very pale and arent the shade most of us are- aka pure, dark, brown! Even most light skin people are not grey- but brown!
This isnt about the morality of the characters and them being demons, this is about the stereotyping from the creator. I dont give a shit if the show is meant to be “edgy”- you either choose to be borderline racist, ableist, and narcissitic with how you write your characters, or actually “progressive.” Choosing both just makes you look like most of the hypocrites over at Twitter who think that representation is a “two way” street that can be morphed into whatever benefits someone’s bias of a specific discriminated group. But back to Hazbin-
The implications with the poc are off-putting, and it makes me all the more nervous for how theyre going to present poc in the next show. Yikes!
#helluva critical#hazbin critical#hazbin hotel criticism#im poc and autistic myself so whats been shown so far is#really weird asf implications#what the hell is going on with the representation honestly wtf

The Gravity Fall’s Characters as Pokemon trainers
I have been getting back into pokemon lately, and I made a few Owl house posts about what if the characters in that were Pokemon trainers, what Pokemon they would have, and why. That was so much fun that when I was done I wanted to keep going and do one a list for every Disney cartoon from this renaissance. Ie Gravity Falls, Ducktales, Star vs the forces of Evil, and Amphibia.I am not sure how popular these will be since while GF still has a live fandom, some of these other cartoons fandom may have died out. But making these was fun and I want some people to see my lists, even if its not that many. If I do get a lot of views I will binge more Disney cartoons to get more characters to make teams for
Before I start I do want to give credit for an idea I remember seeing in a post years ago. Someone did a comic of child Stanley and Stanford playing with two Eevee’s and planing to evolve them into vaporeon’s once they become adults and then they can help them sail around the world. But then because the Stan brothers have their fall out and do not go on their trip They never use water stones to evolve their eevee’s into Vaporeons. Stan’s winds up evolving into an Espeon and Ford’s into an Umbreon. That was such a good idea that not only do I want to use it, but it inspired me to turn the pines family into an eevelution family, and everyone who is a Pines by blood or by heart will have an eevelution. I purposely did not use Vaporeon though. I wanted to leave it as what could have been if things had been different, ...or a maybe in the future. Say Soos and Melody get married, and Melody is given an Eevee as a wedding gift. She could decide to evolve it into vaporeon...
But without further rambling the actual teams are below
Stan(ford) Pines a.k.a Grunkle Ford
I will start with Ford. He is the oldest Pines so I guess he can go first. He was also the second easiest (after Mabel) of the Pines to make a team for
Umbreon. Like it says up there Ford and Stan both got Eevee’s as kids. They’d planed to evolve them into Vaporeons when they were ready to leave on the Stan-O-War. But then had their falling out and never went on their trip. Ford did not use a stone on his Umbreon, it stayed u with him on all nighters he pulled studying, and just took it with him on nightly explorations. It eventually evoleved on its own into an Umbreon. This is his top pokemon, and it protects him the most from walking off cliffs, or being jumped by mystical monsters. It will never leave/go against Ford, but it misses Stan, his Eevee/Espeon, and the days when the four of them were a quartet.
Now Ford is a investigative researcher of the paranormal/magical/oddities/weirdness. So I also picked pokemon that kinda represented paranormal/magical/oddities/weirdness. Clarfairy (a fairy like alien from the beyond), Ninetales (a Kitsune, they’re also known to be very intelligent, but slow to let go of things... kinda like Ford), and Nosepass (a Moai head. Plus a magnetic compass that Ford would love studying and would help him navigate his way through dimensons).
Ford also likes researching ghost’s, and needs a ghost type. I decided to give him a Banette, for reasons similar to the secondary reasons I gave him a Ninetales. Basically this ghost is a powerful grudge pokemon, and Ford has some powerful grudges against Stan, Bill and himself (for believing Bill and playing a part in hurting Fiddleford). I am thinking that this Banette may actually be photos or some other memento Ford held onto of him and Stan’s childhood, and it was born from Ford’s conflicting feelings over those times. I also imagine that Ninetales and Banette share Ford’s resentment towards Stan over the incident with portal (all six of Ford’s pokemon were in their pokeballs and went in with him), and they stand guard in the basement to keep him out. Umbreon is not to crazy about this, but it’s outvoted.
Lastly I had to give Ford a water-type. Even after changing his mind about sailing away on the Stan-O-War, and having the fall out with Stan, Ford still spent a lot of time reminiscing down by the lake, and loved boats enough to buy multiple paintings of them for his house. I also wanted to show his and Fiddleford’s bond, by giving both of them fossil pokemon that they could have found and caught in their excavations together. So I decided that Ford would have a tirtouga. (ex. has anyone heard the legend of the great turtle Kachapa? Because its another myth Ford would probably love).
Stanford Pines team: Umbreon, Clafairy, Ninetales, Nosepass, Banette, tirtouga. When I did the owl house I also mentioned if I thought each character would be a trainer/coordinator/breeder/gym leader. I am not doing that again. Mabel would probably like contests, Dipper gym battles. Bput generally everybody in GF is exactly who they are in GF.
(Stan)ley Pines. a.k.a Grunkle Stan
Espeon. So like it says up top Stan and Ford had Eevee’s as kids that they planed to evolve into Vaporeons to come with them on their sailing journey, but after their fallout neither left on the Stan-O-War and neither evolved their eevee’s into Vaporeon. Stan never used a stone to evolve his eevee. He took it on the road with him. They combed beaches for treasure, and put on shows and mysterious acts, and eventually it evolves onto an Espeon on its own. This is Stan’s top Pokemon and spends a lot of time trying to protect him from cops, angry mobs of people he scammed, and guides him to his chair/bed after he’s spent all night working on the portal. It missed Ford and his Eevee/Umbreon as much as Stan did. Once Ford comes back Espeon tried to push for a reconciliation, and tries to get Umbreon’s help. Umbreon tries to make it clear that it still loves Espeon (sibling love not ship love), but that its best to give Ford time.
Hitmonchan: This one was the easiest choice for Stan. Stan loves and is very talented at boxing. Of course he would have a boxing pokemon. It’s Stan’s muscle/guard pokemon for the shack.
Meowth and Purrloin: two sneaky and money loving kittens; that Stan caught on the streets and they helped him pickpocket, steal, and fleece people to get by. Once he opened the mystery shack the pair where frequently part of his attractions. Since Stan has had them for a while I am going to pull a Ash’s bulbasuar/squirtle and just say that the reason they never evolved, is that they simply do not want to. Their first forms eat less, are more marketable when it comes to scams/shack merchandise, and are just the right size for pick-pocketing.
Ditto: Stan changes his identity on the fly whenever it suits him, and in pokeverse has a ditto that helps him do it. Learn from the master and all that.
Cubone: Stan’s final pokemon. I googled the loneliest pokemon and got Cubone. Okay y’all Stan is a lot of things: he is a liar, a thief, and a con. He can be selfish at times, and has acted without regard for others property, feelings, and well being. But at his core Stan is not a bad person. Deep down Stan is just a lonely man who desperatly wants to fix rifts he has caused and find a way to be safe and happy with his family.
Stanley Pines Team: Espeon, Hitmonchan, Meowth, Purrloin, Ditto, Cubone
Mabel Pines
She was honestly the easiest Pines to create a team for just because she has so many distinct interests that I can use for refrence
Sylveon: This is Mabel’s eevloution. She is the warmest Pines, and is all about creating strong bonds with the people around her. So Sylveon is perfect for her.
Tepig: She also would of course have a pig pokemon because of Waddles. I looked up Pig pokemon and only saw three: Gruntpig, Swinal, and Tepig. I do not want to give Mabel a Swinal because it’s skinny; and canonically one reason Mabel found Waddles so cute was because he had a fat face. Gruntpig seems like the fattest, and cutest, of the three, but its abilities are to similar to things Gideon did to the Pines family. That leaves me Tepig by default. Tepig actually works pretty well for Mabel. It’s small, pudgy, adorable, is a strong fire type pokemon that will evolve into a strong fire/fighting type.
Luvdisc: Mabel is a huge romantic who loves to flirt with boys and try to play matchmaker with her friends and relatives. I am giving her a Luvdisc to represent that. It would be cute if Marmando (her one positive, yet brief, relationship that summer) sent/gave it to Mabel; as a thank you for helping him get back to the ocean and his family.
Teddiursa, and Smeagle: Pokemon that I chose to reflect Mabel’s love for stuffed animals and art/creative projects.
Ponyta: She loves Unicorns, or at least did before she met Celestabethabellabell (Her name is stupid and I do not care if I spelled it wrong). Seriously I kinda thought about taking ponyta off remembering how cruel that judgemental hoof-face (thank you for the insult Wendy) was to Mabel and her friends. But I left it on for a few reasons. 1.) Unicorns are feminine, powerful, and chaotic creature. Mabel is also feminine, powerful, and chaotic. Those traits made her the break out star of GF when it originally aired, and the start of a new trend of female Disney protagonist who were adventurous, feminine, chaotic, and powerful (which I have loved for 10 years). 2.) Ponyta’s database says that once it gets to know someone, its flaming mane will cease to burn them. Mabel is absolutely the type to catch and befriend a ponyta just because she wants to braid its fiery hair. So Mabel still gets a ponyta.
Mabel Pines Team: Sylveon, Tepig, Luvdisc, Teddiursa, Smeagle, Ponyta. Sylveon, Ponyta, and Teddiursa came with her to GF (she couldn’t use Ponyta’s hair because it would have incinerated The Shack.) She caught Smeagle in “Headhunters”, won Tepig from the Farmer Sprout in “Time travelors Pig”, and Lovedisc is from Mermando.
DIpper (Mason but he would prefer you to use his nickname) Pines
So Dipper was the hardest of the Pines to make a list for, because while he is a fun character with development, he wasn’t as zany/goofy as his family. So to form this list I looked more at his tenancies and attitude; as apposed to with his sister and Uncles I made there lists off their interests and corks.
Glaceon: This is gonna be his eevelution. None of them really fit perfectly with Dipper, and of the four I had left I decided to give him Glaceon; because it can cool temperatures around it. Some running jokes with Dipper are that he has a sweating problem, yet also hates showering and doing laundry (also appearing nervous, but that’d not really a joke, everybody hates that). So I thought maybe Glaceon could use its abilites to help Dipper sweat less.
Bonslie: its a tree. Dippers prophecy and hat symbol is a Pine tree. For dipper I needed to use that symbol to get six
Question Mark Unkown: Dipper Loves Mysteries, books, solving the unknown. He spends the whole summer treating Ford’s journal like a bible in his quests to learn all about the mysteries of gravity falls; especially who the author was and what happened to them. Let’s say Dipper found it around the same time he found the journal and started looking into the mysteries of gravity falls
Gastly: Ghosts are Dipper favorite Paranormal creatures, so he would have at least one ghost pokemon. I have seen some fans give Dipper a Phantump because of his tree symbol, which is valid. But I really wanted give him a Gastly because its such a silly ghost. Dipper is so serious a lot of the time. He sometime seems to associate being serious with coming across as mature. (Dipper grownups can be silly too. Please look at every adult in the show). I wanted to give him a goofy ghost, that help his family tease him into acting like a kid and having some fun.
Tyrogun: its a baby fighting type, and raising and training it couId represent how Dipper is beganing totransition from a boy to into a young man. I image Stan saw it in the wild, took Dipper to where it was at, and told him to find a way to catch it. It also likely has a similar relationship with Stan’s Hitmonchan as Dipper does to Stan.
Cranidos: It’s a baby dinosaur, fossil, pokemon. I would say its more likely Dipper caught it post “Land before Swine” than that Ford gave it to him. We’ll say that Dipper caught the little dino that followed them home, instead of Stan taking it to Farmer Sprout when it caused trouble. I am giving him this pokemon because its hard headed and runs head first into battle. Dipper spends all of Gf running head first after any creature Ford wrote about (even the ones Ford said were super dangerous). Dipper also is the most hardheaded of any Pines. (If you don’t believe me re-watch episodes like Dipper vs. Manliness, Time Travelers Pig, and Scaryoke.).
Dipper (Mason) Pines team: Glaceon, Bonslie, Question Mark Unkown, Gastly, Tyrogun, and Cranidos. Glaceon, Bonslie, and Gastly came with him to GF. The Unkown, Tyrogun, and Cranidos are all pokemon he caught during the summer; its says how in their posts.
Soos Ramirez
Jolteon: Soos is a member of the Pines Family. He is Stan’s son, even if he was never legally adopted. So at one point growing up, he got an eevee from Stan. Jolteon fits him the best. He likes lightening and lazor’s. He knows how to work a fuse box and various electronics. Both him and Jolteon are good at retrieving things. Also I get the feeling he would like how pointy it is.
Aipom: Another pokemon I picked because it could probably help him out with his work around The Shack. It’s a very hand monkey, that could climb up to top shelf’s to get things for Soos (Since Stan does not allow ladders at the shack), and he could probably train it to use non-power tools.
Munchlax: Soos got an time wish of unlimited power for his birthday, and he used it to wish for a slice of infinite pizza. Munchlax is his snack buddy.
Beware and Pancham: Soos is a big old teddy bear/ panda bear; he says so himself on his and Melody’s first date. So I am giving him 2 bear Pokemon that reflect that. One fully evolved, and one that still has some evolving to do. The Pines need to have fighting pokemon, for all they get up to. These two are about the only ones Soos is not to sweet for.
Arcanine: It is listed as being one of the most loyal pokemon, and as we all know, there is no one more loyal than Soos
Soos’s team: Jolteon, Aipom, Munchlax, Beware, Pancham, Arcanine
Wendy Corduroy
Because Wendy is from a family of Lumberjacks I made all of her pokemon woodland creatures. Her team is also comprised mostly of ice/fighting/ and normal types, for obvious reasons
Leafeon: I wasn’t really sure about Giving her an eevee evolution while she’s clearly close friends with the Pines I am not sure if she would call them her family, or if any of them except Mabel would call her so (Dipper certainly does not see her as a sister/cousin, and Stan’s feelings with her are debatable). But then I remember that she was close enough to the Pines that when her Summerween plans were a bust she went to the Shack and joinned the family for movies and jack-o-melons. That’s enough for me. Leafeon is my favorite eevelution, its woodland appearance and chill nature compliments Wendy, and its the same gen as Glaceon, so that kinda shows her and Dippers friendship.
Komala: Chosen for much many of the same reasons Leafeon was. It is a fuzzy, woodland koala, that’s general disposition is chill and lazy. It would likely be down to sneak away and chill on the roof with Wendy.
Abomasnow and Cubchoo: Here is ice-bag Wendy’s ice type pokemon. I gave her two since she has that much practice remaining calm under pressure. Abomasnow is also a grass type (it’s a big snowy yeti/tree thing), and I put it as fully evolved because Wendy is such a skilled woods-women... which meant I also needed to pick a first evolution for Wendy’s second ice type. Cubchoo will one day evolve into a huge polar bear, who’s level of terror could rival Ursaring (which I headcannon is one of Manly Dan’s pokemon) but right now its this cute, little, sniffling cub, that’s appearance kinda reminds me of some of Wendy’s stuffed animals.
Braixen and a Gargalian Farfetch: Here are her two fighting types. Once again she has two because she is such a strong and skilled fighter. I picked Braixen; partly because its in the middle of its evolution line which is I felt was an okay metaphor for Wendy being a teenager; and partly because its pretty, tough, and has an attitude. Just like Wendy. The Gargalian Farfetch (regular ones aren’t fighting type) I picked because it doesn’t really look so tough, till it brings out its giant stick and start’s swinging. Like with Wendy, it’s a mistake to judge this skinny, short, bird by looks alone.
Wendy’s team: Leafeon, Komala, Abomasnow, Cubchoo, Braixen, Gargalian Farfetch.
Fiddleford Hadron Mcgucket
Flareon: Chosen for its destructive power and because, after Mcgucket went mad and had to live in the dump, a fire poekmon could have helped him keep warm/cook food. Like Soos Mcgucket is pretty much family. He and Ford were cannoly each others lifeline in college and friends off and on for many years afterwards (Stanford was the password to Mcguckets prototype laptop). Mcgucket also became close with the twins during “the society of blind eye:” episode. Ford gave him an Eevee in college, and Mcgcket eventually evolved it into a flareon.
Aurorus: a dino pokemon he got while on an excavation with Ford during the time they worked together in gravity falls. I picked it specifically because its design reminded me of Mcguckets robotic gobblewonker
Zigzagoon and Totadile: because in the show a raccoon and baby gator were two animals that lived with Mcgucket in the junkyard.
Rotom: This is the closest thing I could find to a digital/computer based electric pokemon. It’s also part ghost; so maybe it could also represent parts of his intelligence/personality that the memory guns weren’t able to take away.
Celesteela: It’s a giant, destructive, steel robot. Enough said
Fiddleford Mcgucket’s team: Flareon, Aurrus, Zigzagoon, Totadie, Rotom, Celesteela. This is by far the most OP team of Pokemon I have made. But Fiddleford, the homeless man who can make giant battling doom-bots in a days time, is honestly a really Op character, and would honestly have to have a really OP team.
Note these are all the characters I consider the most important in the show (the Pines Family and their closest friends), and so they are the ones who’s characters felt explored enough for me to make a team of six for. I put other important characters below: the other three members of the prophecy plus Candy and Grenda, but as they had less character their teams will be smaller
Robbie Valentino
Loudred: Robbie thinks of himself as a musician, and is into loud heavy music.
Spinarack: his thing, other than being a moody “ dark, emo-goth” teenager, is that he is kind of a creep. He also has a pet tarantula. So I am giving him a creepy little spider
Shuppet: Because it is drawn to people dealing with negative emotions; and Robbie is again a moody “dark, emo-goth” teenager. I gave Amity one too on my The Owl House character list. Granted Amity deals with a tense, oppressive home life; and Robbie is the way he s mostly because of chemicals in his head (teenager). But Shuppets are not picky about causes of those feelings. In the anime Max befriend one after a fight with May.
Robbie’s team: Loudred, Spinrack, Shuppet
Gideon Gleeful:
Morpoke: He is shown to have a pet guinea pig, and this is the closest pokemon I could find to one. I also wanted him to have something small and adorable to use as a mascot, since that is his selling point as a performer.
Starmie: He gets a star pokemon partially because that’s his symbol on the prophecy wheel, and also because in season 1 he was the towns local celebrity.
Kadabra: Sabrina used one against Ash when they battled, and Sabrina and Gideon are pretty similar.
Gideon’s team: Morepoke, Starmie, Kadabra
In the show Gideons personality is in part due to the stress and power that being a child star bring him. But, It’s also because that amulet he found after reading Journal #2 is revealed, in Journal #3, to corrupt your soul and whiten your hair, if you experience prolonged exposure. Because Gideon did not have Journal #3, he did not know it was so dangerous and wore it around his neck. In this I am gonna say he acquired pokemon that were to powerful, to young, and they (particularly Kadabra) control him more than the other way around. Post show his new uncles (the prisoners) help him get to where he can better handle his pokemon and that helps him change for the better
Pacifica Northwest:
She was the hardest one of these three. She loves fashion and appearance more than anything, so you know she would only want pokemon that were considered the most beautiful. But she isn’t really experienced/mature enough for a milotic, would probably not like febass (they are kinda ugly), and I doubt her parents would allow her to have a beautifly or pikachu, because “eww bug and rodent. Here is what I eventually found for her”
Carbink: Gems, particularly Diamonds, are Pacifica’s favorite accessory. So its fitting that she would want this little diamond pokemon, to carry around and lords its shininess/beauty over people.
Galgarian Ponyta: according to the database this Unicorn is a bit more judgy and has potentially more mean girl energy, than a regular ponyta. So its less suited for Mabel, but more so towards Pacifica. Which also shows their rivalry given that Galgarian pokemon are more rare/exotic. Pacifica has a lot of the same interests and style as Mabel (They both love golf and parties. They dressed similarly to Pioneer Day and wore similar colored gowns to the Northwest Party), but because Pacifica is rich she has a lot of expensive and designer things, to Mabels more homemade, generic things, and hates that Mabel does not envy her. Pacifica probably isn’t close/friends with her ponyta though. I imagine that throughout the shows runs she has servants taking care of it, and only acknowledges it when she wants to make a fab entrance to a place she is going. This would change post show when she loses her servants and has to start caring for her pokemon herself.
Glameow: I do not think she had this one in the series. The show ended with the Northwest family losing all their money, and Alex tweeted that after the show Pacifica had to get a job and start working for things she wanted. Specifically she got a waitress job at Greasy Sai’s dinner. I like that she did that because then she will be spending days with Lazy Susan, who is a very sweet women, and would be a good influence for Pacifica and the changes she wants to make on herself. Since Lazy Susan raises cats, I like to imagine after she saw how lonely this girl is, and that she was trying to be a better person, she let her take home one of her kittens for a new friend. Pacifica chose Glameow. It’s the closest pokemon to Pacifica, since it did not know her before, and never had a more negative assessment of her.
Pacifica’s Team: carbink, Galgarian Ponyta, Glameow
Candy and Grenda
Okay I was originally just gonna pt the characters on the Prophecy wheel, But that excluded Candy and Grenda and I did not like that, so I had to Add them. I am giving both of them two pokemon (their main purpose in the show was to be Mabel’s friends). Also to show sisterhood between the three girls I am giving each of them a feminine, love based pokemon; because when they had sleep overs they explored femininity and romance together. Mabel’s feminine love pokemon was again luvdisc
Grenda Grendinator
Smoochum: Her feminine/love based one. I have heard some people are not that fond of Smoochum (because of controversy around Jinx/ human shaped pokemon. ) I want to go on reccord by saying i do not think Jinx’s design is okay and I would not consider Smoochum if it did not look very different (less human more penguin/tee-key thing) than it’s evolution, and everstones were not a thing. But I think its a pretty good fit for her Grenda. Like her it has a different body shape, is cute, flirty, and confident.
Kecleon: Grenda had a pet iguana in the show, and this iguana pokemon looked the most similar
Candy chiu
Spritzee: Her feminine/love based pokemon. Spritzee admits a perfume like fragrence where it flys and that is something I cold see Candy (who reminder was most curious about if a unicorn’s neck would taste like ice cream when licked) would love.
Oshwatt. This little otter has a shell that is a stylish accessory, a battle weapon, and a comfort item. Basically the shell is an “improvement of pokemon”.

I am once again having lore thoughts. have some magic system/gimmick adaptation spaghetti. I’ve mentioned some of these things briefly before but I need my thoughts in one place
There’s two forms in the world- natural energy, which powers Types and is magic only in the sense of “idk, cartoon magic” re: how gijinkas use moves and have abilities in the first place; and then there’s Actual magic, which *sorta* matches up to typing but doesn’t. It’s like how the TCG had/has its own reduced set of types and pokemon that might exist in one type canonically ingame get set as something completely different- like poison types just kind of vaguely land between the grass, psychic, and dark categories. these aren’t so much schools of magic, but what we’d consider schools (like dnd terms) tend to fall under certain types, like enchantments tend to be psychic, fairy, normal type witches. me and dan workshopped these a little bit i need to find it again
ANYWAY so that magic is also what powers the Various Fuckery of the world. (Stealing the idea from my own original world lmao) It condenses into crystal formations, and location does change its effects a Little bit- it’s purest and most concentrated in Paldea (tera crystals) without doing much but being Raw Elemental Magic (changing types temporarily). Otherwise, you have to match up to its type to use it (it being refined into a Booster like mega stones and z-crystals) but it also comes with a *lot* of radiation. Galar sees this as power spots and dens specifcally, it’s also why Dyna/Gigantamaxing and Mega evolutions tend to go beserk and/or hurt the user (unless they’re using a suppression tool that focuses it down safely, like the apparatus that people plug their mega stones Into) This radiation is also what influences certain regions to manifest their powers differently, like my headcanon of Orre having more “superhero” types and north of Galar having outright monsters.
Ley lines of this magic create deposits which create mystery dungeons, where the space is always changing and you can often tap into abilities you wouldn’t have outside (emeras, if anyone else was unfortunate enough to play super pmd LMAO) and with things being so Fucky there it can produce ‘treasures’— like how items popped up around you in the distortions in Legends— which is how treasure hunters keep their work ;)
Anyway! back to the magic itself- i think legendaries utilize Both in very high amounts, which is why they HAVE otherworldly power and influence and are inherently stronger than civilian pokemon. Witches Also feel stronger than civilians because this is what they’re tapping into. Legendaries aren’t necessarily witches themselves, but they Could practice that way (not every rectangle is a square etc) Also, witches aren’t by definition cut off from natural energy, they can still use normal moves if they wanted to/don’t Know they’re a witch/don’t want to be one/it takes a while for the potential for magic in their genes to wake up. It depends if they’re Practicing or not- magic just lets them have powers that are not Moves. It does still have to sort of line up to their actual types, like a fire witch isn’t going to be a grass type pokemon (use their learnpools as a guideline), but hidden powers are kind of an exception! Heinrich is an example of this; he’s still just grass/ghost as a Gourgeist, but his HP type is fire, so his ghost attacks look and feel like fire. Some people are just more in tune with theirs than others, and when it’s especially prominent it can flavor their other attacks, even without being a witch.
HP types are linked to Tera types too, I think- Terastilizing just boosts a type, so the norm is to have a type that matches your natural strengths, but “unusual” tera types happen in those people with prominent HPs. Going out of your way to change your tera type to something that ISN’T your HP I think would then change that type too because you’re taking in a Lot of magic to influence it. — OH! and gems, the hold items that boost an attack of their type? Those are extremely diluted tera crystals (naturally or deliberately). The sparkling water flavor of tera crystal.
I think that’s everything off the dome so if y’all have questions/feedback anytime let me know B)
#yessutext#gijinkaverse#if y’all want to adopt any of this you are more than free to also!#i deliberately work my gijinka lore to be inclusive and adaptive to all kinds of stories

Can we hear more about your au about Cuphead being a prince asking Bendy to help him see the world a little bit? Please. :)
Of course! How about I tell you some about the more minor characters in my AU? If there are characters from IM or mentioned in my AU you’d like to hear specifically I’d be happy to answer!
IM Characters
The circus crew works for the Dish family as entertainers. Each person doing a different type of comedy. Mickey is very involved with music. He mostly sings and plays instruments for the royal family. He also helps to coordinate bands and performances for special events, festivals, balls and dinner parties. Donald and Goofy do a lot of slap-schtick/physical humor and jokes. Sometimes do little skits of them fighting or royally messing up tasks. Kinda like clowns or what they’d normally do in the old cartoons. Donald is always angry AF and goofy is just… well… goofy. Ozwald is the jack of all trades, he does kind of a little bit of everything. He does a lot of magic tricks and sleight of hand with the help of his talent. He’s especially good with more daring/dangerous tricks like stuff to do with throwing knives. He sings a little too with Mickey and helps him out when he needs to. He also makes a lot of sarcastic and witty jokes. Cuphead and Ozwald get along pretty well with their snarky personalities. The bunny kids also help out with the circus’ crews performances. Some play instruments while others help handle props and things. Oh! And Finley and Sammy are also part of the entertainers. They do skits and help Mickey with music sometimes. But they mostly do acting.
Granny Gopher from Inky Mystery is the castle’s head cook. She has a crew of cooks that do a lot of work but she helps to manage them and plan meals. She’s pretty much Cup and Mug’s unofficial grandmother. When Cup is sick Granny is always willing to help take care of him. She’ll sneak him desserts when he’s not allowed to eat sweets. She also is one of the only people who really respects Cuphead as the next king. Granny and Cuphead are good friends. She teaches him to sew, knit, cook, and he reads to her. She’s probably one of my favorite parts about this AU.
King Dice is the advisor to the King and Queen, and he is an absolute JERK. Not only has he been poisoning Cuphead since he was around 13, he has also spent that span of time wearing down on Cuphead’s self esteem and self worth. He specifically treats Cuphead like crap. Pretty much emotionally manipulating and sabotaging him into making him fail and further doubt himself. Granny is one of the only people who stands up to Dice and tries to stop him from manipulating Cuphead.
Holly is a witch who works with rune magic and potions. She lives outside of a village whose members fear her as a ‘horrible evil witch’. Where in actuality the villagers just spread rumors and fear her for having magic.
Our OCs
Yes we put our OCs in this. They’re mostly minor characters dw.
Nexx is a minotaur, technically. They’re based off of Scottish Highland cows (the ones with the long fur). Though they’re more like a centaur, having almost the full body of a highland. They can more or less shift between this- so they can go from centaur like, to minotaur like (the two legs), and full human. Nexx lives in the country side in a cottage with their son, Gabriel. Both of them usually stay at the cottage, and Nexx rarely goes into the nearby towns. They have most of the things they need at home. Nexx uses special flowers to help with sickness and injuries, usually making them into teas or other things. Nexx is mostly friendly towards people who stop by, and they’re happy to help. OC belongs to @dearnexx
@richiedicky is also in this. They are a foreigner that joined the Circus crew as a jester of sorts.
My OC Nix is part of a band of traveling merchants. He works with things like fireworks, fire spells, and pretty much anything fire related. He also helps out with any animals the merchants are selling, especially with birds.
I hope that wasn’t too boring for you? Thanks so much for the ask! I’m glad ur interested in my Royalty AU! You have no idea how happy that makes me!!!!!!

It’s ok, the questions & I ain’t going anywhere lol take as long as you need ;)
1: since they both love DBZ, what is their fusion name? (Since they’re fans, I can see them doing the fusion dance, acting like dorks :p )
2: speaking of dragon ball, what type of “busters” are they, both together & separate? (City buster, continent buster, galaxy buster, etc)
3: do they compare themselves to other best friends in media? Like SpongeBob & Patrick, goku & krillin, etc
4: in a previous post you made, mar’i & Jake loves to roughhouse, how do they roughhouse? (like armbars, wrapping legs together and tickling the feet, etc) & who would win in a friendly wrestling match between them & Chris in a free for all?
5: similar to the toliet humor in the previous ask, what’s the reaction to seeing nutshots, in cartoons, live action movies, and maybe in real life too?
6: what’s mar’i’s outfit? I can see her wearing a pink or purple version of the Robin or Nightwing suit.
7: not really a question but a story idea; based on the comic book: The death of Clark Kent & villain of the story Conduit. A bully or a “distant” friend of Jake is on the same basketball team but usually sucks compared to Jake himself, & gets emotionally abused at home by his father (why can’t you be good as Jake, you’re such a disappointment, etc) after days of being abused and being second best, the bully/friend “somehow” develops powers similar to Jake’s (probably was born to absorb energy and was a late bloomer like Jake) & wants revenge and make his parent(s) proud. If you read the story the death of Clark Kent you know what happens after. sorry for the long paragraph lol
Thanks for the answers for the past few months when I first started asking question, love the character headcanons & stuff. You can take a few days break if you want to.
Thanks for being patient my friend @gothicghost2000 . It’s very appreciated :-D
1. Ah yes, the Duo have two main candidates for a fusion name: SkyWing Or PhantomBird. Now as for combining their first names for a fusion, I see them coming up with “Chrayson’ or ‘Lor-And’r’. The latter ironically being translated as ‘Phantom Fire’
2. Chris at his base strength and power alone can easily be a city buster in terms of power level. At a maximum input of his base power, that increases to a continent buster. Then though you factor in the Nightwing entity. When about 15% of its maximum potential, it can be easily be a planet buster. At its above all maximum level and all restrictions are off, a fully powered and charged up Chris Kent with the Nightwing Entity reaches to an outright Galaxy buster level.
Then we get to Jake. If his Tamaranean strength and power is tapped into and his emotions running high, at 50%, he can be considered a city buster. At a 100% power level, Jake is capable of leveling entire mountain ranges across the continent. Though what makes Jake’s unique Tamaranean power something to watch out for is its unending ability to increase its maximum potential as he grows older. So if he’s a mountain buster at merely 10 years old, only X’hal can imagine how much he can bust at maximum once he’s 12
Now regarding them together, Chris obviously takes most of the power level count compared to his best friend but that doesn’t mean Jake is completely underneath Chris just by power level difference. Now matter the gap, they are teammates and best friends above all else which is what really matters.
3. The Duo mainly compare themselves to Gumball and Darwin Watterson from the titular Amazing World of Gumball and for good reason as their respective personalities can match up well enough with those two. While Chris is a lot brighter in his outlook and definitely less likely to jerkish moment as Gumball, both are known to have days of absolutely being so done with the way their bad luck ruins their day and they aren’t shy from sarcastic moments. Then there’s both Darwin and Jake, two guys who strive only for what they want being the best for everyone they care about. They stick by their respective best friends on their adventures and generally have a deep bind with said friends few people when their families can truly appreciate.
4. Really if anything, roughhousing is coded for Sibling tickle fights. Mar’i knows all of Jake’s most sensitive and favorite spots to scribble her fingers all across which get him bursting into uncontrollable blissful laughter every single time. And yes, her most common target one some nights when she playfully wants to tire out her baby brother are his feet, especially since they’re always sockless. Though Jake playfully in turn fights back with his own hands scribbling on his big sister’s own spots which get her laughing as well.
Now if there’s actually play wrestling involved and it’s between Chris, Mar’i and Jake, try as the boys might, Mar’i triumphs for certain with her ability to withstand most of the play holds the Duo can get in her and often waiting for her chance to strike after Chris and Jake go for play grappling each other.
5. The Duo cringe and wince so hard once the crunch is made, and both shield each other’s eyes. Sure Jake can resort to nutshots during superhero battles but even he internally winces as it’s always of the most painful things any man can endure.
6. Well….as once drawn here by our ever so lovely friend @spider-jaysart , I can for see a younger Mar’i dressing like this as Nightstar
As for that suggestion though, I can see it as a prototype Nightstar suit Jake made for her which while she certainly appreciated it, she prefers something more in line with her their Mother suits up
7. 😲
OooooooO….A new idea for a rouge for the Duo I see. I’ll look into this story and Ill see more of what you mean but I like it a lot already. Heck canonically in New Order, one of Jake’s school teammates was actual the nephew of Dr Light so him having a classmate that’s either super-powered or linked to someone with superpowers isn’t far fetched what so ever. I feel a lot of Flash Thompson tones with this idea for a rival/rouge for Skybird XD
